I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have ugraded to version 1607 and I notice the restart time is 2.5 longer than version 1511. The boot time is about the same on both versions. I also did a clean install of version 1607 and the restart time was still about 2.5 times as long as version 1511.
What is going on with version 1607?

Answer:Why does Windows 10 Version 1607 take about 2.5 times as long to restart as Version 1511 does?

What is going on with version 1607? you've checked startup programs? Any that are on by default?

Microsoft still hasn?t released the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Mobile users, but that doesn?t mean they?ve completely forgotten about their smartphone customers. Hello all.
Running windows 10 pro 64 bit.
I've updated from Version 1511 to the anniversary update, 1607.
Or at least, I thought I did.
The update went well, no hiccups, no errors. Used windows update, let it downloaded and install and rebooted. Alas, system still shows OS Version 1511.
Used update again, same thing, rebooted, 1511.
Went to the windows site, downloaded the windows10upgrade9252.exe, ran it, same exact issue, rebooted, still showing version 1511.
Error logs show no issues. Disabled all external drives, turned off anti-virus, etc, repeated, rinsed, rebooted, still version 1511.
Only think I've not done is burned an ISO to DVD and updated from that.
Any clues as to what's going on?
Thanks!

Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586 will not download and install. However the updater keeps telling me it is ready for installation, then is decides on it's own to restart any damn time it wants to. For a while, I had control over this. Then, like a dummy, I decided to see if there were any updates. MS snuck a piece of software in during the look see, and now it's back to doing what it wants. I'm developing an irrational hatred for Windows 10

I would like to know how I can take absolute control of my Windows Updater. Furthermore, I'd like to force this update to download and control whether it is installed or not. I don't seem to be able to get any information on it. Is it even necessary?

If someone can help I would really appreciate it. TIA andythebeagle

Hi,
Basically WIndows fails to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586.
There is no error codes shown. Only a message that issues were found during installation and then advises to press fix issue which in turn jumps right back to the full download (again) and install with the same message 'issues were found, press fix issue...'
Any tip to get it installed? PC works fine otherwise.

I bought last week a Satellite C40-C-10Q (version equipped with Win10).
Today the last upgrade of Windows 10 Fam, version 1511, 10586 is not possible because there is not enough place on the "disk" (32Gb).
Till today, I have only install Firefox and Avast.
With this configuration 11Gb are at still disposal.
Win10 has took 4Gb for the upload of the upgrade and then 9Gb were necessary to make the installation.
This is physically impossible.
Has someone an idee?

Thx,

The windows update 'Upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1511, 10586' fails with 'Windows can't be installed because this PC has an unsupported disk layout for UEFI firmware'.

This PC (laptop) is running Windows-To-Go (Windows 10) from a an external USB SSD. It has been running this way for a few months now without any issues. The 'original' system, i.e. the internal SSD of the laptop is running Windows 8.1 Enterprise and I had created the Windows-To-Go installation from there.

My Disk Management looks like this:
Disk0 (offline when using Windows-To-Go): 300MB (Recovery Partition), 100MB (EFI System Partition), 97GB (Primary Partition - Windows 8.1 Enterprise), 140GB (Primary Partition)
Disk1 (online = USB SSD): 350MB FAT32 (System, Active, Primary Partition), 238GB NTFS (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

Any ideas how I can get the update version 1511, 10586 to install?

Thanks

Answer:problem with upgrade to windows 10 home, version 1511, 10586

You can download the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft's Tech Bench site. The standard version is Windows 10 (others are restricted) and it can install/update both Windows 10 Home and Pro, depending on previous version (for upgrade) or serial (for clean-install). Download 32-bit or 64-bit according to your present Windows version.

A warning for English: There are two choices for English which are misleading. If you download the wrong language version you cannot use it to upgrade your present Windows version!

To save you the trouble:

"English" = American English (US) which most users have when installing the English version of Windows.

"International English" = British English (GB) which are mainly used in UK. This version cannot be used to upgrade English US Windows! Beware!

So today the big Fall update came out and I wanted to install it so after over 2 hours of my slow internet downloading everything I need and installing it I was given a message that I need to restart my PC to finish everything up. So I did and while restarting it put me into "Updating Windows" screen where at around 18% my PC restarted and gave me the message "Rolling back to your previous version of Windows..." after I got back into my Windows Update I was given a message "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586 - Error 0xc1900107". Anyway to fix this?

Probably a bad download. I would try again. This is from Microsoft, things to do if setup fails. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/i...8-81b1f89473ed . It is from the insider program, but it will apply to your situation too, just disregard the build numbers.

I just upgraded my computer from the original Windows 10 to version 1511 today. I have an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. When Windows boots up, it used to be the ASUS logo and the dots spinning at the bottom would work correctly, like the screen would fade, then the screen would go to the login screen after 10 seconds of waiting. Between that, I would have a black screen before it went to the login screen, as it should.

Now, the problem I'm having after the update, is while the Asus logo and dots are up, the dots freeze up, the screen blinks while initializing, and then after that, the ASUS logo and spinning dots reappear, but the dots spin like they are erratic and fuzzy for about 20 seconds, goes to a black screen for 2 seconds, then brings up the login screen. It almost seems like the system still thinks its in setup mode, but booting normally to desktop, but takes 2 to 3 minutes to boot now, instead of 16 seconds like the original version.

I also did a clean install and have the same result, and installed on a separate computer that has and old legacy bios, and the same thing happens.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem with the update? Is it a glitch? Any Windows updates to correct this issue.

Thanks. Hoping it's just a QA issue with Microsoft.

In this case, it seems that you would need to wait for at least another three days for your computer to be queued up again for download.
In my case, the first attempt to install this build ended in an error... then checking my PC for updates said that it was "up to date", but after reading some information I just waited for my PC to be "eligible" again for the download, which happened after 3-4 days.

What source are you downloading it from? Easiest method to get the file is Tech Bench:
Tech Bench

Easiest way to both download and create a USB flash drive is Media Creation Tool:
Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

Option two in the above tutorial except on step 7 select USB flash drive and have an 8gb USB flash drive available. The flash drive you make can be used to upgrade Windows 7/8/8.1/10 to Windows 10 version 1511 and can also be used to boot from and clean install Windows 10.

Hi donnyboy and welcome to Tenforums.
You could try downloading the ISO and performing a repair install using an in-place upgrade.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

Basically, you right-click and mount the ISO, then run setup.exe from it.

I manually restart the PC but the update did not applied.
How to fix this issue?
-Ganesh

Answer:Why am I unable to restart my PC to apply the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586?

That particular error code is usually indicative of the OS failing to schedule a sequence of tasks. This is why the updates aren't applied when restarting manually. It never got the updates sequenced in order to process them.
Knowing that part is easy. I have no idea how to actually fix the issue. My best guess would be to try to do the upgrade using the Media Creation Tool. Download an ISO, run setup, and select Upgrade. You'll get the same results as if you had succeeded in the update process and your system will be up to date. You'll have the added advantage of a current install ISO should you ever need to install again, or if a friends computer needs updating/upgrading.

I have a 4 week old HP notebook with Windows 10 already installed.
The above Upgrade (Update??) has failed 3 times & I suspect it is the
root of other problems (Can't create more user accounts, can't sign in

According to the web others are experiencing the same problems.
Would appreciate some advice.

I have an RCA Cambio 2n1 Tablet running Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Edition). I have a program that I desperately need to run that is only offered for x64 systems. I understand that I have to do fresh install but I cant seem to find one on Microsoft's site. The windows Update Tool doesn't offer the version I need.

Answer:how can I get a version of windows 10 x64 version 1607 for an RCA Tablet 2n1?

Hi Welcome to Window Central! I'm sorry, but I have no idea what your trying to accomplish. Research shows me you are already running 64bit. If that is not the case, you would have to update your OS to a 64bit system. That is not a easy task. Here's link to WC "How to"!
Thanks!
Nelson Davis

Can you check to see what OS version you have? Check in settings > system > OS build. It should show something like 14393.5 or 14393.10

Hi All

Recently finished upgrade of Win 10 Home Tablet to Version 1511 and Screen rotation no longer works. I have checked Device Manager and everything is indicating OK with exception of Other Devices and that indicates there is an Unknown Device and no driver installed.
I do not think this has anything to do with the problem as I understand the Display adapter controls the rotation. I have checked the Display section in Control Panel and no mention of screen being locked or for that matter unlocked.
The Tablet manufacturer is Connect and the Display adapter is Intel(R) HD Graphics with Driver dated 17/08/2015 and Version 10.18.10.4276. This is same as my laptop and it works OK.

Appreciate any assistance

Answer:Upgrade to Version 1511, Screen Rotation no longer working

This is a common problem ie you are missing the rotation sensor driver. Go to tablet website and see if you can download driver.

In August I upgraded my Windows 7 Home Premium laptop to Windows 10.  All has worked well for a month now until the Windows 10 version 1607 was highly recommended by Windows10 people. Having kept current with all of the updates faithfully but as soon as I tried (four times) to install Windows 10 version 1607 and then the time-consuming step again of reverting back to the previous Windows version.  So I have hit a brick wall.  I always get the error message: "Low Disk Space".  And Windows continually is reminding me to upgrade to 1607. Like the famous movie, this is a CATCH-22 situation. I read some of the Forum's help and was lead to a link suggested by a HP staffer as the only resolution available.  The link for this Low Disk Space Error problem is http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736755. I translated the link's Windows 7 instructions into Windows10 style organization of problem resolutions and located the "Files and Folders" section and then followed the Windows 7 steps.  But I still hit a brick wall.  In viewing the hidden files on my Recovery Drive (Drive D I verified that I did not have any personal backup files to occupy space needlessly.  I also cleared out previous System Restores and just did a new System Restore.  But still have the same problem.  It appears I need to expand my Recovery Drive to accomodate Windows 10 version 1607.  But in doing the steps under changing my partitions th... Answer:Low Disk Space after Windows10 version 1607 upgrade

Clean EnergyGuru Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!First off, once you did the Upgrade to Win10, that corrupted the HP Recovery information, rendering any HP recovery unlikely.  So, at this point, the Recovery partition serves no useful purpose. If you want to remove it and recover the space, then use this link to download the Minitool Partition Wizard boot ISO file:  Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free Once you have this, you have a choice of media to create:1) If you can boot from CD, download and install ImgBurn and use the Write Image to Disk option to create a bootable CD.2) If you can boot from USB, download and install RUFUS and use the option to create a bootable USB stick from the ISO file. Boot your PC with the media you created. You should now be able to do partition changes without problems. Second, may be folders on your C: drive named $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS. These are used by the Upgrade tool to store files needed for the Upgrade. If these are hidden, will have to change your settings in File Explorer to see them, but once you find them, then remove the folders. Also, you need to remove the Windows.old folder.  Here are the instructions:  http://www.howtogeek.com/223821/what-is-the-windows.old-folder-and-how-do-you-delete-it/Once these are gone, you have a lot more free space in the C: drive.Good Luck

On one of my computers the windows update displayed an option for an early windows update.

This update failed with error code 0xc1900200.

The size of the partition is 100 MB.

One computer that has already been upgraded has a post upgrade partition size of 100 MB. It was a windows 10 iso clean install of 1607 followed by a Microsoft upgrade assistant upgrade.

Apparently 100 MB does not equal 100 MB if the drive manufacturers are different????

Question: If I purchased a full retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate and upgraded my current version of Windows 7 Professional using that DVD could I then regain a working sysprep feature on my laptop?

Thank you in advance. I would upgrade to Windows 10, but my graphics card is not supported by Windows 10. I receive an error from Windows 10 Upgrade .... "Windows 10 is not compatible with your graphics card".

I've had to completely remove WSUS and reinstall it on 2012 (presumably after a borked update at the back end of last year? I've seen lots of people with the same problem!).
At some point I must have clicked through and approved an unwanted "upgrade": "Windows 7 and 8.1 upgrade to Windows
10 Pro, version 1607, en-us". It's just causing havoc! Every (W7) computer is now just stuck in a constant update loop, with the update constantly failing, but requesting that the user reboot the PC (only to fail again, and request a reboot... etc, etc).
It's really, really annoying!

I've tried removing the update from WSUS and running a command to manually remove the update from the queue, but they are still reporting issues (constantly having to postpone the update).
I'm back on site later so looking for some advice. Has anyone come across this? Will deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder remove the queued update?

Right now I'm suffering issues on Windows 10 after upgrading to version 1511

The issues include:
Performance issues - my laptop is suffering lag and hangs randomly (this had never happened before version 1511)
Longer boot - It would take 30 seconds or longer to boot, instead of before that's taking just 3 seconds. (I noticed that after the laptop booted, it is booting again, acting like a bootloop
Slow app opening - Opening Google Chrome would take 6-7 seconds than it would open instantly before
Waking up from sleep - After opening my laptop, it would be on black screen for few seconds, than before it would never be on black screen
Shutting down - It takes 15 seconds or longer to shut down, assuming it's not actually a problem at all, but it is a problem... It wouldn't take 15 seconds as, before it would take 2-5 seconds.

I've got a new laptop Lenovo 510s 14ISK I've used the media creation tool to do a clean install of Windows 10 (Crazy amounts of bloatware). Alright, I thought I had the process nailed down, but I'm not having much luck.

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit version coming tomorrow. It comes with 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 seems like the first OS that has wide support for the 64 bit version, please correct me if I'm wrong. So I thought I'd upgrade to 64 bit since everyone tells me I can do so, legally, for free, with the key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

So I planned to download the ISO via Bit Torrent and check the hash, as somebody recommended. I installed MD5Summer.

But I'm stuck because I can't seem to find the Hash Checksums for W7 HP 64. Can anybody provide me a link to them on MS's site, or similar?

Anybody got a good BT link to save me from searching myself? I didn't see any that looked like the right version on Demonoid. What should my search term be? "Windows 7 OEM 64"?

I've never installed Windows 7, does the procedure differ from XP? I've installed XP hundreds of times.

What's the best way to verify performance of my new laptop? Free benchmarking program? Website with common benchmarks? I'd like to see if the OS upgrade actually benefits the benchmarks.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Hi, I have a Nextpad device that has Windows 10 installed on it. Because it is a mobile device, the storage space is limited (total about 28G, and free space about 16G, after the most recent system update, even without me installing any user application). Windows Update now shows that it is ready to install Windows 10 version 1511 update, but is that amount of space enough? I see somewhere that the "minimum required storage" is 8G, which I have, but some other people say that the installation will take up to 20G space (which can be reclaimed later through disk cleanup tool), and I worry that might cause the device to fail because of insufficient storage space.
Could somebody give me some suggestions? Thanks.

We have two 64-bit Windows 10 installations; one on an almost new i5 desktop and the other on a 2009 Dell Studio laptop. Whilst Windows 10 Version 1511 OS Build 10586.36 works OK on the desktop PC, on the Dell laptop there's no Internet connection if I try & install the same version / build. It comes up with the error message: "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer".
I have tried installing it twice, but get the same error / no connection both times. The network function reports that IPv4 is connected to the Internet but that IPv6 connectivity has no network access.
Does anyone know how to fix this error? For now, I have re-installed the previous version from the image I fortunately made a couple of weeks ago and set Windows 10 to accept critical updates only. As soon as this was installed, the laptop jumped back into life.
I understand from a post on the US Windows Forum site that Dell are not supporting Windows 10 on the Studio PC, so I may have to change the network card to a new one to get Windows 10 functioning with this version. Any recommendations as to a suitable card would also be welcome.

I have tried different graphics card driver as well as a clean sweep with a driver removal tool but it's still broken.
I need two monitors to work and without buying a new second monitor, I can't get work done.

Yes, you can do this various ways but you're describing Option 4 in Brink's Tutorial here: Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation

Windows Update recently downloaded and installed Windows 10 Pro version 1511 10586 on my HP Elite 8300 CMT desktop. So far, this OS seems to work quite well except it won't shut down when I click Shut Down in the Power menu so I have to press the power button on the front of the CPU for a few seconds. It will shut down, however, in Safe Mode. Anyone else having this problem and is there a fix? I've been told that I'll probably need to do a clean install. Some of the replies on Microsoft support don't appear to have helped those who asked so I thought I'd check here before trying anything else.

there used to be a BSOD with appid.sys in November 1511 version whenever we enforce or even just enable dll rules in applocker.
Is it resolved with February Cumulative Update

Answer:Applocker bsod in Windows 10 Ent in 1511 version

If no BSOD's occur you can assume so, but we can't say anything because we have literally no information.

I read a previous post about Windows Pro but I am wondering if this will definitely work the same way for my Home version even though I already have windows 10 installed. Can I go here, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10 - click upgrade now, then chose upgrade this PC now to definitely get 1511?

Is this "normal" for Microsoft to still be rolling out the update? Thank you!!

Answer:Force Windows 10 Home to Version 1511

Yes, you can do this various ways but you're describing Option 4 in Brink's Tutorial here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...tallation.html

The iso downloads you can do with MCT or at Tech Bench are periodically freshened to contain major build releases as they occur. Currently, you would be downloading build 10586, i.e., version 1511.

Another Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3140768) tonight.
Can anyone explain why I have to have windows firewall running before I can install updates to W10.
Has anyone else got the same problem. I have my own Firewall program so should not need Windows firewall, but it will not download updates unless it is switched on.

I checked the windows version it was still build 10240. I again checked for updates it says no new updates. I am neither seeing the update nor the updated version. Is there any other way to install windows version 1511 manually???

Answer:I had a trouble installing Windows version 1511, can I get some help?

I believe Microsoft released ISOs of build 10586 so you should be able to download and install it that way instead.

I just upgraded my windows 10 pc to the 1511 version. I have (on the start menu) icons for photos, calendar, camera, maps, solitaire, news, get office, sports, one note all with a exclamation mark in a circle. When I click on any it says app not installed contact system administrator to repair or reinstall. I did a sfc/scannow and it came back with no integrity violations. As there is no iso available to reinstall I'm at a loss as to what to do. It takes nearly 50% longer to boot up compared to the previous windows 10 version as well. I tried searching for a former restore point to go back to but they all seem to have been removed after the upgrade. Icons on my task bar occasionally blink out then back on from time to time as well. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

After update at Version 1511 of Windows 10 I run into problems: windows was freezing. At the beginning for not reason at all but afterwards I've noticed that it was freezing during this video autoplay in facebook for example.Other symptoms were that youtube was not functioning, in any of the browsers. Best results were in Chrome but also there the sound was not functioning. Googling it did not helped so I've tried somehow to solve it without a clean install (**bleep** Microsoft way...)and I've found the solution: I've reinstalled the video driver. I've took the one for Windows 7 from lenovo support site, set in in compatibility mode and reinstall it. This seems to solve the problem and I've wanted to share it with you. Laptop in case is an x201 but an update on a T410 is in progress and I will make the checks for the symptoms and if they are the same I will try this one on. Will let you know if there are any updates.

After this update I have a Windows-Old folder, 17.6 gig. Can this folder be deleted? Happy with update and will not go back to 1511.

Answer:Windows 10, version 1607

Its normal behaviour for the installer to leave this folder behind. It allows you to roll back if something went wrong. If you're sure everythings behaving normally then yes you can remove the folder. Use built in disk cleaner, click on c: then click the clean up system files button. Make sure old system install is ticked.

I Received Windows 10 Update to Version 1511 on 3 home computers. On 2 of the computers the right click context menu no longer has the option to right-click on a file and send a shortcut of the right-clicked file to the desktop. Although the command appears in the Sendto folder, the option does not show up in the context menu. I have tried many suggestions to correct the problem. I have verified the CLSID for the command in the registry, I have tried copying the command from the one computer where it still works to the appropriate directories on the 2 computers where it doesn't work, etc. Nothing works. This has worked on all 3 computers for years before receiving the Version 1511 upgrade. All 3 computers are 64 bit. The 2 computers that no longer have this context menu choice have Intel Core I7 processors at 2.8 and 2.9 GHz and 8 and 12 gigabytes of RAM. The computer that still has the context menu option working is an AMD Athlon II P320 DualCore CPU at 2.1 GHz with 4 GB RAM. Would appreciate any suggestions as to how to fix this issue. Thanks

I know most people here are complaining about anniversary update 1607 but Im not able to even reach that, Update KB3176493 is causing me a huge headache, it installed and reversed install about 20 times now, I almost cant use the computer any more. Ive tried every possible guide and solution I could find, including applying the update from a full offline installer, nothing works.

I have a different laptop that had no problems at all with this particular update. Just for the sake of clarity the ONLY thing I changed in this Windows installation was changing the directory of user files, if that's whats causing it I would happily change it back.

I would change it back and then see if you are then able to install the update.
If it still does not do it then you can always revert back to what you changed
Remember before you do create a restore point.
Good luck and keep us posted on how you get on

Hello,

My wife has a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (Type 2306-CTO) that shipped with Windows 7 and has been successfully upgraded to Windows 10. It has been running Windows 10 (retail release plus updates) smoothly for a couple months.
Yesterday (11 Dec 2015) my wife ran the Windows 10 system file checker (sfc /scannow) in an elevated command prompt on her laptop. She did this to make sure everything was still okay after updating Windows 10 to version 1511 (OS Build 10586). It wasn't okay:
|-- sfc /scannow results --|
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>

In the past, when SFC couldn't fix problems we have been able to fix corrupt system files by using the Deployment Image & Servicing Management (DISM) tool. We ran this series of commands in an elevated command prompt:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC indicated these steps did not fix the corruption. W... Read more

I had the same problem.

Solution:
1. convert your install.esd to install.wim using WinReducerESWimConverter.
(WinReducer ES Wim Converter - WinReducer.net)
2. run as admin

Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:wim:C:\ . . . . \install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Hi,
I downloaded the most recent update today, and when it came to restarting my computer to finish the install windows showed this error message:
https://i.gyazo.com/52eea1403ce9b5b9...f9085299cc.png
With the error code 0x80070032.
When I press Restart Now, it just shows the same message.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Answer:Windows can't finish installing version 1511, 10586.

Hold down the power switch until the computer shuts down. Turn it back on and the problem will probably be resolved.

Instead of downloading the update each time, try to create a bootable USB flash drive with windows 10 anniversary, and run the update from it, sometimes this solve issues like yours. download the windows 10 update using Microsoft tool:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
