Windows Update - "Advanced Options/View Update History" Problem

Question: Windows Update - "Advanced Options/View Update History" Problem

Hello.

Hope someone can assist me with the issue I am having in windows 10 Pro.

A few days ago my system Automatically updated to Windows Pro v1511 (OS Build 10586.14)... all went well and seemed to be OK.

Now to my Problem...

When I now go to check for updates it does its checking for updates thing then installs any available update but once it has completed this and I click on "Advanced Options/View Update History" in that all I get is a blank page and all it says is no updates have been installed yet....

But I know that it has installed windows defender updates? because I have seen it download them and complete the updates?

I have tried the reset (windows update .bat) file floating around on the forum, but all that does is clear everything and still no updates are showing in the list when I go to "Advanced Options/View Update History"...

Can anyone please help me get that all back to normal....

This has only been an issue since this update to Windows Pro v1511 (OS Build 10586.14)..

How do I know that the updates in Defender or anything else for that matter are actually installing.. seeing that they are not being listed in the "View Update History" list...

Is anyone else having this issue and if so any assistance on how to fix this will be appreciated...

cheers

Preferred Solution: Windows Update - "Advanced Options/View Update History" Problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi --

I just migrated to a new hard drive and did a clean install of Win7 (did not have SP1 on the DVD).

During the Updating process, windows stopped working and I received an error, something about running Update again, etc. So I rebooted and finished the Upgrading process...no further problems noted.

However, I view the "Installed Updates" and see that KB2604114 and about 20 other updates "FAILED." But when I view the "Update History," it lists KB2604114 and the others as "installed."

I'm confused. Are the updates I'm referring to "FAILED" or are they properly installed?

Thanks!

Answer:Win7 - "View Update History" vs. "Installed Update"

In your description, you might have switched the observations.

"History" is a log that tracks attempts at installing specific updates. One user might have multiple failed attempts for a particular update; or multiple successful attempts if one was looking for a source of a problem.

"Installed updates" records the last successful installation of a specific update; no timestamp, just the date.

My "view windows update" page is blank w/ the exception of one update run yesterday.

Originally I ran the Update Fix-it Tool and that is what wiped my history. I ran the Tool again and but it didn't recover my history.

My "Installed Updates" page is intact showing everything that successfully installed.

Any help?

Answer:win7 "view windows update history" blank/missing

They are still on the PC.
Mine did the same thing back in January.

Mike

My bad.
Click the yellow circled link in left picture and the right window will open listing all the updates.
Clicking "View Update history" in left column towards top of left picture gives just the recent ones after reset or Fix it Tool.

My first update in this list is dated Sept. 1, 2010 when I installed Win 7.

Sorry to bother you again, but I noted a problem with my Windows 7 computer and update log.

My "view update history" page is completely blank!! Furthermore, my windows update page states that "Updates were installed: Never"

However, if I click on my "Installed Updates" page, it clearly shows that last updates I recieved/installed was on 6/10/15 and more importantly, it shows the all the previous updates that I received are is intact.

What happened?? -- how do i get my "view update history" page to show what it had always shown before (i.e. all the updates I have received up until now??

Any help would be much appreciated?

By the way, do recommend installing all updates (important, recommended, optional) or just important vs just important and recommended...etc?

A few days ago I discovered that the list of installed Windows updates (via link "View update history") disappeared. When selected it merely shows a blank screen with only the column headings.

However, if I select the link "Installed Updates" it does indeed populate with all (329) currently installed updates.

Also, if I run the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.2 it does not complain about hoards of missing updates. Similarly, if I run Belarc Advisor it too lists all the updates installed.

I have a full system backup from a few weeks ago that I likely could use to restore the functionality of the
"View update history" link if I knew the name of the specific file, and where it is kept. I've looked in
C\Windows\SoftwareDistribution but cannot determine if anything is amiss.

Can someone provide information regarding the name of the specific file, and where it is kept.

I recently used the Norton Power eraser and upon re-start had problems. I used the revert tool to restore. Computer is running, although I get the "Failed to Connect to Group Policy Client message on every start up, but the computer starts and I can use it as I always have.
I thought I could remedy the "Failed to Connect" message by running Windows update, but when I try, the progress dots on top of the screen just keep flashing from left to right with no outcome. I checked this and other sites and saw that I should activate the advance settings under "Update and Recovery". When I open the Update and Security tab, I see no "advanced settings".
Can someone assist me to resolve this. I offer my thanks in advance for your assistance.

For whatever reason, I have a bunch of "failed" updates listed under the WU history. They were all cumulative updates for various months. I've done a malware scan, system file check and DISM, all of which were clean.

All cumulative updates have successfully installed the last 4 months in a row. The OCD in me just wants to delete the failed entries from the list because they bug me.

Can this be done?

Answer:Deleting "Failed" entries in Windows Update history

Hey vram,
As far as I know, you can't clear/delete just the failed updates, but you can clear the update history (it clears everything).

Dear Forum,

the windows update service on my laptop only returns error 80070002. It seems to be a common problem for a lot of people, however most of the standard steps to take do not seem to work for my machine.

CHKDSK is ok.

sfc /scannow however refuses to work. Even with admin privileges, it says that "resource protection" wont allow it to run. If started from windows recovery mode, sfc claims that there is another operation pending and a reboot is needed, first. Needless to say, this other operation is stuck in limbo.

All other methods of manually deleting/reseting the update logs, including the .bat from this website, have failed.

Even returning to a system restore point brought no change.

The last known update to work was for net framework.

I'm not sure where to go from here since i figure my attempts might have already made the situation worse.

Had to use a third party filesharing provider:

Another question/puzzle. Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

I clean installed W8.1 three days ago, and the first thing I did was bring it up to date with all the offered updates. All installed successfully and I thought no more of it. At some point after this I made a system image backup, which today I have restored to. When I now look at the "classic" windows update screen it says I have never checked for updates and none are installed. Forcing a check for updates brings only two up as can be seen in the pictures. If I go to "view installed updates" then there is a lot of stuff in there, whih I assume could be the previously installed original batch.
I'm guessing this is normal behaviour but it seems slightly odd (the on screen messages at least)

Answer:No update history says "never checked" & "never installed"

Not odd... Considering that is a "clean install"(albeit with integrated updates) - thus no update history (file) exists.

Hi!

I have a Gigabyte Laptop, with Windows 7 ultimate, and used to get a message "Press DEL to enter setup" just after my POST screen.
However, this is now gone, and i have been unable to enter my bios. The "windows starting" appears and everything else is as usual, it has been working fine, so i dont know for how long my bios have been gone.
Now, what i really want is ree-booting some USB options, since this is done in BIOS i discovered i no longer have acces during startup. I dont know if my faulty USB and the BIOS-gone-bye-bye is related...

I have edited msconfig, tried safe modes etc., disabled "Hibernate" (due to someone having my problem and seeing the message "resuming windows" instead of "starting windows", however i just dont get a message like that)

I have been adviced to clearing my CMOS but this requires acces to BIOS and BIOS is ... hiding!
WHAT I DO GET:
a black screen, white letters, a quit look at "Pheonix Trusted core... BIOS version .. system ID... 1 processer detected " ie the ususal stuff. But there is no line with "Press DEL to enter setup" it is gone!

System information tells me that my BIOS is Phoenix Technologies LTD.

Entering DEL a lot during startup (I dont think it is a fast startup, but i do not know) gives me a new black screen, white letters, and Windows Advanced options, such as running a memory scan.
This is new!!!!!!

HI and welcome to 7F. Would be very helpful if you could list the model of your laptop. You can try to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard which might help to bring the normal screen with the Del option but without knowing the model of your laptop it would be impossible to find instructions how to get to the battery

You all know that there is no Folder-View settings that work on ftp folders. But Windows does remember your view setting for every folder you have previously selected a view.
I have over 1000 ftp paths that I have set to "detail view" on a workstation over the last 2 years.   This information is stored 'somewhere' and could probably be exported if I only knew.    A low value clue
> "System Restore" reverses recent view settings for ftp paths.

Hey guys, I'm working on my neighbor's computer that I have posted about before. The corrupted "non-system" files which were all over the HDD are now repaired after running chkdsk c:\r and the computer is running much better since I ran sfc\scannow and repaired the corrupted system files. I ran MS onecare live's virus scanner and it was able to complete now. No viruses were found. I still have a few lingering small issues it seems. The CD/DVD drive disappeared, but I got that back with a registry fix. Now the current problem is that the "view" and "general" tabs are gone from the file options window. Any idea what's causing that? I searched the web, and found some fixes, but I couldn't use them because I couldn't get gpedit.msc to run. That's my second question. I get a error saying "MMC could not create the snap-in." Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

I have 2 Dell 780's that I would like to reset to factory using the Dell Recovery partition.  These are Windows 7 64bit Pro machines.  The units have 3 partitions, diagnostics, recovery and OS.  I have followed instructions to start the recovery process and can successfully get the units to boot to the standard windows restore options page, but the expected last item "Dell Factory..." is not present.www.dell.com/.../how-to-restore-your-windows-7-computer-to-factory-settingsI do not see Dell Backup and Recovery installed.www.dell.com/.../DriversDetailsThere is nothing on the C:\ partition I wish to retain and want to do a clean (re)install, ideally on a formatted drive.  I would like to keep the recovery partition functionality intact so this can be done again.  I rather not do an upgrade where I get left with a windows.old folder and other unused folders in the root directory.Related:1 - I think I read somewhere that recovery can only be done once.  Is this correct?2 - Does recovery also include the Cyberlink software?3 - From where is the System Recovery tools run? Also have seen this:  en.community.dell.com/.../20141229

When I click on "tools" on the menu bar in any folder that I am exploring and subsequently click on "folder options" I notice that the "view" tab is completely missing. The only tab I have access to is "file types"

This creates a serious problem when dealing with hidden folders that were hidden prior to me having knowledge of this "view" feature being absent.

What are my options to restore this "view" tab so that I can view the hidden files that I need access to?

TIA

Answer:"View Tab" in "Folder Options" missing

Other than a system restore, I don't know how to restore the view tab. I can tell you how to enable the hidden files and folders from the registry.
Start> Run> type: regedit and hit OK. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced
Click on Advanced folder in the left pane and look for Hidden in the right panel. Set the value to 1 to show and 2 to hide.
If not there, create DWORD value with Value name: Hidden and set the value as above.

Edit: Forgot to add, you need to restart computer for settings to be changed.

When trying to update with Windows update, i get a spontaneous reboot or a bluescreen-crash.
The filename "lzx32.sys" is mentioned.

The updates i'm trying to install are the following (roughly translated from norwegian):
"Update for Windows Media Format 11 SDK for Windows XP (KB939399)"
"Windows Tool for removal of dangerous software - march 2007 (KB890830)"
Other than that, i believe i have all other windows-updates.

I do however recall there beeing a third update on the list when i started the installation for the first time.
After the third or forth spontanous restart/bluscreen, when i figured something was wrong, it has disappeared from the list.
I do not know if it actually got installed or not.

I've been following the 5-steps-before-posting as good as possible.
From my normal startup programs msn-messenger and daemon-tools were shutted down before the dss-scan.
Here are the three logs (panda-activescan, dss-main and dss-extra attached):
PS: note that the "extra.txt" is from the first scan, which was done abit earlier than my last scan where the pasted "main.txt" is from.
This is because i was unable to get a fresh "extra.txt" from the last scan (no minimized window at all).

What should i do?

So I have this weird thing happening in my relatively fresh install of Windows 10.
Whenever I search for "Check for Updates" or "Windows Update settings" on the search box of the start menu, I get the results that I want but if I press enter or try to click on those results nothing happens.. As far as I know I can click all others search results but those, and maybe others related to windows update.

I can still get updates by going to Settings>Update & Security though.

In my other computers this works fine, and as far as I can tell all the updates are done.
From what I've searched around other people seemed to have a similar issue where they couldn't acess the settings at all which isn't my case. Still I tried the sfc/ scannow that a lot of users seemed to recommend but no results.

Have a new computer which runs Windows XP 2005, and it's been a bit of a rough road.

Lately when I start up the computer, the "Windows Installer" appears every time. "Please wait while Windows configures Your Sonic Update Manager." The next window that appears is Sonic Update Manager, and it says, "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert 'Sonic Update Manager' disk and click OK." At the bottom of this same window is 'Use Source: 1'.

When I click "OK" or "cancel," a message appears, "The path '1' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'UM.MSI' in a folder from which you can install the product Sonic UPdate Manager."

If I continue to click 'cancel,' it eventually all goes away. But it's annoying and I'd like to set things straight. How do I get this to go away???

I looked on my original invoice from Dell, and yes, they did install Sonic, but I don't have a CD for it. It may also help for you to know that this began after my ten-year-old son had me install Editing Software powered by Muvee for his Vidster video camera from Mattel. Could that have something to do with it?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer:Why do "Windows Installer" and "Sonic Update Manager" keep popping up?

Click start then run, type msconfig then press enter and click on the startup tab.

See if you have these processes listed "issch" and "isuspm". If so, uncheck them, click apply and restart the computer.

I'm not sure what this is in Windows Update [and this seems to be greyed out itself too], but how is it possible to have no results in Google on this KB that's in Windows Update?

I also clicked on the "more information" for the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but nothing came up there either.

Answer:A "non-existent" Windows update ("KB3024777") even Google can't find

Also note that it can't be unchecked/deselected.

Edit: It seems this update removes kb3004394 and vanish without a trace (except in History).
Neither seems to be available in the uninstall list afterwards.

To anyone that can help me out:

I purchased a windows anytime upgrade key and upgraded my system from windows 7 home premiuim to windows 7 ultimate now when my windows tries to update I get this: (See image titled "message")

To bring you up to speed as to what I've done so far:
I ran sfc\scannow and no errors were found
I downloaded the hotfixes and apllied them and still could not update
I tried to do a system restore to the point before I upgraded, but I could not perform one because all of my previous attempts to update windows automatically creates a system restore and all the restore points were within a 24 hour period
I installed a system update readiness tool as per "windows help and support" dialogue box

To see the updates that did not install, refer to the image titled "update"

Really, I feel like I've done my homework and I've exhausted my efforts as to how to fix this problem. I'm currently going to school for computers and so I really like to apply what I learn in real world situations, but this one has got me stumped!

I'm also attaching my checksur.log I don't understand it now and it looks like a foreign language to me, but as I progress through my information systems degree I hope one day I can become a techsupport forum partner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi.
Mikael Nilsen here.
When I try to use Windows update, I get the errorcode "WindowsUpdate_80246002" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
I have not installed any new programs, only updated Adobe Air.
I tried to uninstall Adobe Air to check if it was the problem, but got the same errorcode, so why this came up I don`t understand.
I hope you can help me with this, as soon as possible.
Best regards
Mikael Nilsen

Well, if there isn't a system reserved partition, that is probably why Windows update could not update it.

Hi everyone....

the latest Windows update "2014 time zone update for Russia "....KB2998527 was released 9/23/2014.

It it necessary for those of us who live in the US to install this update?
I have become very cautious about installing Windows updates since the problems the the early August Windows updates have caused.

thank you...

Joe

I hope it isn't necessary since I hid it because of the problems the last Russian update caused (I hid that one, too).

I had the same problem, though at a different point in the update process, with my laptop.

I had to abandon the update on my laptop and reinstall.

Do I have to go through all that a gain with my Desktop?

I'm very frustrated and thinking of reverting to Windows 7.

Does anyone have some suggestions to correct the stalled update procedure.

Many thanks

Answer:Laptop Starting "Limited Account" After Last Update/Windows Update

Since nobody responded to my original post laptop starting "limited account" I did some research and all roads lead back to kb3140741. Funny how there is not a peep about it here being an issue.

It cannot be uninstalled period and this is the last failed update I can take from Microsoft. Enough!!

Would a mod keep those with the issue or issues with this kb up to date on when a fix will be available?? Please!! This kb has been installed on two desktop pc's (1 32 bit/1 64 bit) and 1 laptop 64 bit. Issue is the laptop.

I am the admin on the PC however this PC points to a In-office "WSUS server" to normally get its update
Is there a work around to this that I could add to my local group policy or registry?
I have been under Group Policy Object Editor -->Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates -->

but seen nothing that would allow to override this error

Hello,

My computer is an HP dv7 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. When I turn the computer on, it only opens to the "Advanced Boot Options", but it does not respond to the keyboard, such as directional arrows and "Enter". On starting up I can hold down the F8 key and get the first BIOS page, but the same problem is there of not being able to effect any change with keyboard.

Prior to this problem developing, I had started my computer, and it went to the password sign in page as normal, but it indicated that I was "locked out" or something to that effect. The fingerprint reader light was blinking, but I've never set it up for that (I didn't know it had such a facility). I did a restart and the normal sign-in screen was there, so I signed in and updated my AVG Anti Virus 2014. I then I opened the Google Images search page, and it was from that point on that things got "weird", because the screen became greatly magnified. Perhaps I had inadvertently clicked on some option. Not being able to use the computer with the great magnification setting, I then did a restart, which brought me to the "Advanced Boot Options" page without any keyboard access.

I have tried removing the battery and then removing the BIOS battery, which only resulted in a page appearing which stated that the BIOS had to be reset. I was able to press "Enter" to make that happen, but then the "Advanced Boot Options" screen appeared agai... Read more

I have ran into some issues trying to network an xp machine and one running windows 7. When trying to access shared folders on the win7 machine from the xp machine it always asks for a user name and passord, the laptop is wireless, and when I enter one for an account that is on the win7 machine it doesn't work.

Follow other posts I am trying to turn of the user name and pass check on the win7 seven machine but I cannot access the "change advanced sharing options" menu. When I click on the link it just does nothing. That is not the only strange issue I am having, there are several other menus scattered around the control panel I cannot access and a few places were right-clicking to properites doesn't work, "Computer" for example. I also have a new issue with IE opening multiple tabs when opening a new one, this one may have been caused by a program that I installed, I removed it and things seem to have improved.

I am running windows 7 enterprize N, any help would be great thanks.

Answer:Cannot access "Change Advanced Sharing Options"

It sounds like you have lost or corrupted some system files to me. Maybe that rouge program caused the problem.

Try going to start/search lower left. Type cmd then right click on the little dos icon and run as admin.
At the cursor type sfc/scannow then enter. Let it complete the scan which will take some time. If the problem isn't fixed try doing it a couple more times.

I don't understand why, but this particular update is being a bit cantankerous. I seem to have installed it seven times. Windows keeps saying "Download and install this new update," so I do it, shut down my computer, and restart, but it still wants me to update more. I didn't realize it was actually installing successfully until I checked the list of updates I installed, and KB937287 was on there seven times. Anyone have any ideas about this?

The following message appears: "Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed." Can anyone please help? THANKS!

Boot into "Safe Mode with Networking" (restart while tapping F8 repeatedly) and see if you can install the updates. This should work.

Can anyone tell me exactly what this program is for? I don't know if it came installed on my PC or if it was something downloaded inadvertantly with another program I've downloaded. It seems to take-up a great deal of space (about 70 MB!!) for something that I don't think I'm going to be using. I suppose there is a chance I might want it in the future (perhaps I could decide if I knew EXACTLY what it does) - but for right now, I don't connect any "Mobile" Device to this PC.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

In the past I would do a Reset and the search results were fine but this time I did an install.

Search examples:
< "Windows Update"
> The Windows Update app would appear in the search results.

< "Sound"

Plz let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix this and/or where I can find the executables.

Hi Vendetta

My name is Mohammed from DELL media outreach team

In response to you recent query, by any chance did you delete browsing history recently or reset IE or else please check whether you have made a check mark on the delete browsing history option. You can check that by going in to IE then select Tools->Internet option->in general tab window make sure delete browsing history radio button is unchecked, if not uncheck the option close the browser then try checking the history after visiting any website .Check whether this helps

Greetings,

We have a shared generic account that is used by personnel. For the circumstances surrounding this account, it must be a shared account as opposed to each employee having their login. I won't go into further detail than this.

But, is there a way to get a list of when and from where (hostname, IP, MAC address) this username logs in and logs off and to what virtual machine they get connected to for each event?

Last night i reformatted my PC and installed all the critical updates, everything except drivers. Then when i was done with that i Installed my bus drivers, video & sound card drivers.

Then i shut down and went to bed.

Woke up this morning and im fully updated i just need to install service pack for vista 64 bit and im getting this error from windows update "error code 80072EE2 windows update encountered an unknown error".

Windows help gave this back to me "If you receive Windows Update error 80072ee2 while checking for updates, you might need to add the website addresses from which Windows Update downloads updates to your firewall exceptions or "allow" list."

And then this under that "Windows Firewall ships with this version of Windows and should already include these sites in the exceptions list."

So i dunno what to do....

I came from the Malware section after finding out my laptop has been running slow. See this thread for the details.

To sum up, the laptop has been running slow about a week ago. Certain programs won't run (like ExamSoft). I did an initial full scan with MSE and a trojan was found, and was deleted. I then tried to apply "New Updates" to windows but it won't update (despite windows/softwaredistribution is updating) even when selecting a single small file. I then tried to update my virus definition on MSE (hasn't updated for four days up to that point), and it won't update. That's why I came to the Malware section. Long story short, no malware was detected.

We uninstalled several programs, including Examsoft, outdated JAVA. New Java was installed but problem persisted. At the end, I deleted MSE to see if the situation would go away, but it still persists.

The trigger point for this "malicious looking" SVCHost to hog up all my RAM is when "SOLVE PC ISSUES" and "NEW UPDATES AVAILABLE" pop up in my tray. I am unable to apply any new updates; now it says Windows Defender needs to be updated, and I can't apply any updates.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Windows Update / "Solve PC issue" taking up RAM and won't update

other things i noticed:

I turn off automatic updates, and this issue goes away. if i try to manually check for updates, it stalls. if i try to manually update windows defender, it stalls.

as long as i don't try to update windows, things seemed OK.

i reinstalled my examsoft and now it works.

i reinstalled MSE and now i am able to update virus definition.

somehow windows updater/defender just can't seem to work

Well apparently there was a massive Windows update yesterday - which installed itself this morning. I say massive, because despite having a good desktop CPU & fast SSD, it took more than 10 minutes to update, which is surprising.

I noticed the "Windows Update" options are now missing from the control panel - which does not allow me to see any details about the updates that were installed.
I also noticed a new icon in/near the system tray, the icon says "People" if you mouseover. I'm tempted to click it but was hoping to know what it is all about first.

Really, I feel like I've done my homework and I've exhausted my efforts as to how to fix this problem. I'm currently going to school for computers and so I really like to apply what I learn in real world situations, but this one has got me stumped!

Dear all,
recently my computer HP Pavilion G-6 encountered a problem. At first a warning appeared that there is a problem with cooling fan. This was solved.  After there was a black screen after logon without any activity. It was not possible to start process
manager and check what is going on. The only possibility to repair it was to restore to the last Restore Point. But analysis that restore point I discovered this entry "Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (Printer) 06/21/2006 6.1.7601.17514", which
appears in every instance when a new restore point is created. After restoring the computer works for a while. It is possible to turn of the computer and turn on the windows again for several times. But usually the next day the problem appears again. And I
have to restore to the previous point.
I have tried to install a new copy of windows, but I did not delete all the partitions. There were 3 of them: System reserved, C: with Windows; D (Data). After installation this problem appeared again. How? Is it possible that this infection is the lan or
RAM?
I have searched the similar problem on the web, but nobody actually have solved it.
I have turn of the Remote Desktop and did not helped.
Now I am trying to update, but somehow it is not possible. The system is trying to find updates, but nothing happens.

Hello everyone how are you!

I have a question, actually I'm development a application for sharing internet connection. I'm using "Wireless Hosted Network and Internet Connection Sharing" that it's in https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd815252%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

I want change default IP Address range and I have read that these settings it's in next address:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters.

My question is, How I can restart or update the "Internet Connection Shraring" or "Wireless Hosted Network" after I change the IP Address range for that assign IP Address different to default.

Thank you!

After the recent Win10 update, my nvidia graphics cards were updated too (Titan+1070) and since whenever I use Blender 3D (and I suppose any other graphics software including games but I haven't tried) audio (ie. background music) is making random clicks/pops.

It was never a problem before the update.

This is exactly the reason I hate when Win10 updates automatically and no options are available for disabling automatic download of updates. It ALWAYS make more problems than it solves. Before the update, my PC worked just fine there was absolutely no reason ever to have Microsoft mess up my PC!

I demand a solution to this problem!

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 with windows 10.
Dell update keep show me a notification about a "Intel HD Graphics 530/P530 Driver" update that I already did weeks ago, it won't show me notifications about any other new updates.
When I click on the "install now" button, nothing happens.
I can still install the real updates with SupportAssist.
The windows event log is filled with errors from the Dell services, I exported these logs in a file here:
Could you please take a look at this, thanks in advance,

Dell Update reports there's an update for  "SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools". When I click Install Now, it looks like it installed, but it reports the same update again an hour later (or immediately if I force update check).
I have this problem on two XPS 13 9550's, and this thread shows five other users (and counting) having the problem on machines including XPS 15, Inspiron 15-7569.
Is Dell aware of this installer bug, and will there be a fix? That notification balloon is really irritating.

This PC can't run Windows 10

*We couldn't update the system reserved partition.

It is running Windows 10 and I'd like to update it to 1709 which will hopefully cure the annoying issues of the system's update failing repeatedly.

Any suggestions?

When I instruct the computer to eject the usb media containing the image file, a warning tells me other files are in use and to continue means loss etc.

I wonder if I should reformat the USB media and recreate the image file.

Guys,

I am a little confused with regard to some of the mail options in Outlook Express. (I have version 6) What is the difference between the "Drafts" and "Outbox" folders?

Further how does the "Send Later" option work from the file menu? I always thought that "Send Later" was the same as using "Drafts" but what happend was that I was doing an e-mail, went to Drafts, or clicked on "Send Later" or Outbox and then after I clicked on "Send" doing a regular send, I checked my Sent folder and about 3 copies of the same message were delivered to the same person! (I only sent one message-not 3!)

What is the deal with the "Outbox" folder? Apparently that is not like the Drafts folder....correct?

What's the difference between doing a Save, Save As, and Send Later with regard to OE functions? If I want to save a message that isn't done yet, which of these 3 options should I use? (I.e, I want the message to go to the Drafts folder for example and stay there until I TELL OE to send it.) I think whatever I did above was that I modified my message and then click on where it just automatically sent next time I opened the message. A review of these features would be helpful!

Just for the record, I also use Yahoo Mail and find that so much easier!

Jack

Answer:Please Review OE "Send", "Drafts", and "Outbox" Options

Jack
To save an E-Mail to your Drafts folder for work on later then you use the File\Save option.
If you wish to save the E-Mail in another format such as .EML or .TXT or .HTM then you use the Save as function. You will also be required to specify a folder to save in or use its "My Documents" default.
Send later function if only one e-mail account exists will place the e-mail in the outbox and send it the next time you click on the send receive button. If you have multiple accounts then you can specify which account to send it from.

I get an error trying to install an update: "WindowsUpdate_80070103" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".  The title of it leads me to believe it is important to security.  Information I've seen related to this starts at the 'graduate program'
level of computer ability whereas I am in Kindergarten, having taken a solemn oath to never program again back in 1977.  Will someone please give me a keystroke-by-keystroke instruction on how to get this update to work?  Thanks!

Microsoft Updater says I have a critical update (KB2286198) to install but it fails and gives the message: "WindowsUpdate_80246007" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".

I've tried a couple of things that MS Support suggests but they don't work and don't seem to really apply to this particular error message. Searching for the error code 80246007 hasn't yielded anything yet that works.

Any ideas?

Greetings Honorable Geeks:major

Have not been able to update the 'Windows Update for a few weeks" (I perform manually). After MS runs the scann error code Ox800042D appears.

My attempts to repair are as follows:

a) this error code when researched pertained to Internet conenction, my is 'obviously' fine.
b) Emailed the MS support team for and advised to run a utility which downloaded my files to them.
c) 24 hours later rec'd and email from a MS cust srv person who stated it appeard my 'Temp files may be corrupted'. Then provided a list of changes to make in order to correct' - which looked overly involved. (instructions provided listed below..... (before you make a comment - see my last note underneath)...

Step 2: Rename the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder
=================================================
One possible cause is that Windows Update's temporary folder contains corrupted files. This step will clean its "Download", which contains the Windows Update downloaded update installation files. After renaming this folder, all the files will be automatically recreated, except the Windows Update History data and downloaded updates' installation files. This will have no negative effect on your computer's performance.

Hello,

I had Windows Update automatic checking for updates disabled, (with the necessary services for Windows update enabled). The last update was sometime back in February of 2016.

After manually activating Windows Update Windows Update was still running after 30 minutes. I then quit Windows Update and was going to wait till a later time to activate again.

However, after running some system cleaners I tried to activate Windows Update which produced an error message. IIRC the error message indicated a program and parameter was required to run Windows Update.

Current Windows Vista WindowsUpdateagent Version is 7.6.7600.256 (Vista x64).

Quite a while back I manually fixed Windows Update after it stopped working and has been working correctly up to now.

This time instead of a manual fix I tried to use MS fix-it program, However MS's current link to download the Fix-it program is not an exe file but a .cab file, uncertain why MS currently has a link to a .cab file instead of an .exe file?

Anyway instead of attempting a manual fix I found a MS windows update agent installation for Vista 64-Bit. After re-installation using the Windows Vista x64, windowsupdate exe file version 3.7.xxx Windows Update now displays a window with options stating that "Windows is up to date". "There are no updates available for your computer"

If I select "Check for Updates" Windows Update continually runs for over 30 mins without any results.

I was thinking of a... Read more

How can I delete some duplicate updates in the windows (view update history) page. I don't see where I can click and delete any of the updates.

Answer:How can I delete some dulicate updates in the windows (view update history) page?

There is no way you can delete update history (Selected) entries.

If you want to clear the windows update history, Navigate to "C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore" Delete "DataStore.edb".

Before you delete "DataStore.edb" you should stop Windows update service and BITS service.

Try the following in command prompt:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits

To start services after deleting "DataStore.edb", try the following:
net start wuauserv
net start bits
or just restart the computer once.

Hope it helps

I have been getting this error message when I click "Add more photos" to my photo albums on Facebook for some time now:

Unable to update files in cache.

sun.plugin.cache.JarCacheVersionException: Number of attributes specified in 'cache_archive' doesn't match those in 'cache_version'

at sun.plugin.viewer.LifeCycleManager.initAppletPanel(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.viewer.WNetscapePluginObject$Initer.run(Unknown Source)

However, Facebook's Java photo uploader application used to always work fine regardless of that error message.

This morning, however, it has stopped working. I am unable to upload any photos, because it will always say:
Upload Failed. Click on My Photos and try again.Click to expand...

It never works.

The simple uploader (which is non-Java) does work, which seems to mean that there is no problem with Facebook's servers; instead there is a problem with Java.

I have around 200 pictures I wish to upload and uploading 5 at a time via the simple uploader is definitely not an option.

Could someone please help?

Have a Dell latitude 8630 where windows update is stuck (see attachment). I cant make it go away and updates are not happening.

I know the free w10 upgrade deal is closed now, any chance I could still do it now with an ISO? and not buy a license?

I have run MS update "fixit", took a couple of tries but BITS and "update" are okay, per the tool.

has anyone run into this and able to clear the issue?
