I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a pretty strange problem in Windows Store app for my Surface 3, everyday I would go to Download and Updates to check if there's any update for my app, but there's always "Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Runtime Package" showing up in the update list, and re-install itself. Is there any way to get ride of it? It's quite annoying, why does it keep re-installing the same component over and over again?

Almost every single day now I see that MS has installed Microsoft .Net Native Framework Package 1.0 and Microsoft .Net Native Runtime Package 1.0 with multiple entries for each showing in Reliability Monitor.

What is this and why do they keep sending this almost every single day?! I believe it might actually be for the MS App store and not even for Windows. Surely this is not normal?

Answer:Microsoft.Net Native Framework Package 1.0

It's for Microsoft Modern apps located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps, there are no new updates so not sure why you are seeing this.

.Net Native Framework Package 1.2.23205.0 keeps successfully updating nearly every day since 5/8 with the exception of 5/11, 5/18 and 5/19 . One day it updated twice! I ran the MS FixDoNet Repair Tool but the update installed today. There was a thread about this sometime ago but apparently there was no resolution.
Anyone have an suggestion?

We have been supplied with a product which has not included the distributable runtimes for crystal (v10).
As a result, users are required to install the full developer version of crystal to view the reports from within this product.

We DO have a site license for crystal, so are able to use but do not wish to suffer the installation on many many machines (its slow and painful!). Plus i don't particularly want them to have a copy of crystal installed and accessible on their system.

So, i'm wondering if anyone knows a slim package i can use to ensure each of these client machines can view these embedded reports without having a full developer version of crystal placed on their machine. essentially just the required runtimes.

windows client app.

many thanks.

I am *so* ready to build my next box, a Core 2 Duo (still limping along w my IS7/P4 3.0G at 3.3 GHz !)

But.

I am worried abt J Dvorak (and others) who have repeatedly said that Win XP systems "upgraded" to Vista will not be as stable as native installations. I am a flight simmer who is panting over DX 10, and though I won't buy a DX 10 graphics card until they're less than $350 or so, I know I will go Vista eventually -if only to support DX 10.
Would it be a sacrifice to build a WinXP/ DX 9 box now with plans to upgrade to Vista... ought I wait for cheaper DX 10 cards and then put a new Vista onto the Hybrid HDD SATA as is "my destiny" ???

Answer:Upgrade XPPro versus native install

I might be missing your question, but it's been a very long standing thought that it's better to do a fresh install, rather than an upgrade. I'm a little anal about my computer in terms of "cleanliness", so I wouldn't want even one file of old code on my machine. All in all, for best results, do a fresh install especially for how much different Vista will be than XP.

I'd go with XP32 right now, if you get a Core2Duo system. Then, keep an eye on Vista64, to see how driver and app support goes. I'm going to do that, and if Vista 64 seems to be okay, I'll be going to that in time. If the same compatibility issues arise, I'll stick with Vista 32.

Had PC-cillin on my PC since new and pleased with its function. Concerns vers 7.xLearned that PC-cillin are to upgrade their systems and ver 7 apparently will become obsolete from Sept 04. There does not appear to be a service pack to allow an upgrade to latest version. So will I have to purchase vers 11 to retain AV protection ?Is it time to change to another AV package ?

Answer:PC-cillin upgrade package

When new versions of anti-virus software come out, so then does the old version become unable to get the latest updates. So, yes you will have to get the latest version or change to other virus software the be protected against the latest threats. TT

Hi! I purchased my 6530 in August of 2009 and it's still going.  When I bought the laptop, I had no idea what a 64 bit computer was.  Now I do.  This is why it's taken me this long to realize that instead of getting a 64 bit Windows 7 upgrade for my 64 bit laptop, I got a 32 bit upgrade.  No wonder my laptop has not performed as well as others say it does for them. It seems that there's no way to even discuss the matter with Acer, there is no way to talk to them unless the unit is still under warranty. Any suggestions?

Belatedly, for various reasons (primarily uncertainty and a concern that I would mess up the computer at an inconvenient moment), I've only got round to a second attempt at installing the Value Added Package update published on 9 Jan 2008 (with various other more recent driver updates to be installed when I've done that). I used 'Add and Remove Programs' to remove the existing Toshiba Value Added Package, cleaned the Registry with CCleaner (as advised) - and ultimately all the other Registry cleaners I had accumulated on the system! - but was still getting an error message that a version of the software was already installed and needed to be removed before installation could proceed.

Looking further at the description of the Package, and at the Toshiba software included in the 'All Programs' list, it looks as though I might be needing also to uninstal Toshiba Utilities. Is that correct? Is there any other software I will have to uninstal to allow January's Value Added Package to instal successfully?

And finally, I was confused when I unzipped the files and found there was both a "setup.exe" and "toshiba Value Added..." I wasn't sure which to click on - but found that both led to the same injunction that there was another version on the disk that I must first uninstal.

I guess what I really need is an "idiot's guide" to installing Toshiba's driver updates: can anybody point me in the direction of one?

Answer:Installing Value Added Package upgrade

Hi there,

if your system is still saying you have left over parts of the old VAP then first you must re-install the old version of TVAP so to make sure that the uninstall entry appears in the Add/Remove Programs List. then uninstall the old version and restart your computer. after restarting, install the new version making sure that you select the setup file and not toshiba VAP...the first setup file that you come across (the one i just stated you select) will determine the appropriate configuration of TVAP to install for your system. then after installing, restart your system and everything should be working just fine. you can try uninstalling toshiba utilities but really you should not need to.

Toshiba Tempo alert shows an upgrade is available for the VAP.
Downloading this upgrade gives three packages which are options for 'nobutton', '2button' or '6button' -what exactly are these references to?
Has anyone tried this upgrade which indicates the prior version of VAP needs to be uninstalled before the new one is installed, is there a way back if it fails?

Answer:Sat Pro A200 Value Added Package upgrade

Which version you download only depends on the machine and not on the previous version. So, the version depends on the multimedia buttons which are installed on your machine on the (right/left/top) on your machine.

So if you don?t have any buttons then choose the "nobutton" version and so on....

The upgrade is OK, there won?t be any situation to fall back. This upgrade was intended to make the system work better and I don?t think that toshiba releases some programs just for fun.

Install it and be happy.

hello,

We recently upgraded our servers from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. One of major issues is the syncing of mail on our Droid phones. Many of use the Touchdown email client. The older Touchdown clients failed and once upgraded to the latest version, it works fine. However the native email client on android OS is not working at all. I have tried unchecking "use a secured connection" and unchecking "verify certificates" Also since we carry many different models of Droids, different OS's don't seem to make a difference either.

Anyone on exchange 2010 ever encounter any issues with Android.

Answer:Exchange 2010 Upgrade Caused Native Droid Email Client To Fail

I had some issues when we switched over. I was just using the native andriod client as opposed to Touchdown. I would check some of the android forums and just search for outlook. there were several threads on those boards and something i found there ended up correcting my issue. sorry don't have my droid anymore and can't recall the settings.

I upgraded from the free version of AVG in 2013 and again in 2014 as the free version no longer included a firewall. I am 3 months away from renewal for 2015,. I received a message from AVG about yet another upgrade, a better version for 2015, renew now. I thought I should ask the techies on Tom's guide first. Does anyone know if this will really be better? Also I am used to the graphics. The advert says it is "clearer" but I might not get on with that.I need all the help I can get as I still have Win XP, on an old HP Pavilion. I cannot upgrade to Win 8 on this old PC, for example. Therefore I think the anti-virus is important.I'd be grateful for any comments, please. I cannot afford new equipment (am retired). I do not use the PC for banking, music, games. Thanks. message edited by beetroot

Answer:Is it worth to upgrade AVG anti-virus package, paid version?

I have used the paid version of AVG for many years now, and i love it. They improved the GUI from the older versions from late 2013 and have made more and more improvements to it to date. From the many years i have used AVG what i can tell you is that my machine has become less and less infected over the years, it is not solely down to having AVG but it has helped considerably. To answer your question about will it actually be better, well i dont think it will be any worse than what you have right now, however being a beta version there may be bugs that will hinder your user experience, i personaly dont like beta version because they are still in the 'development' phase and will have many bugs. If i were you id wait until your current subsciption expires and then renew online, it only take a few minutes so you dont have to rush and renew now.

Hi, I'm trying to add the November, 2016 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3197868) to out install.wim using DISM offline because the same install is failing using the Scheduled Updates process in Config Manager.
Some pertinent (I think) lines from the DISM.log include:

DISM.EXE: DISM Package Manager processed the command line but failed. HRESULT=8000FFFF

Hi I just got a Lenovo Ideapad 550 and I was trying to get the free upgrade to Windows 7 online. I always reached step 4 where it asked for the specifics of my laptop. After I input this data and click "Add to Cart", I am linked to a Runtime Error page." Server Error in '/LenovoWindows7Upgrade' Application.Runtime ErrorDescription: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off"."  I'm not sure if this is a problem that is a result of my own internet or computer, or if it was a problem with the Lenovo website. For some of us with a slow/unreliable internet connection the upgrade may be a real hurdle. Any Idea of the size of the upgrade? Best guess? Might be wise waiting for an ISO file I think, rather than risk the store method.

Answer:How large will 8.1 upgrade (in the store) be?

Probably up to a Gigabyte at least. But the updater is probably a stub-installer which is a small file. But when it is run, it continues to download files from MS, and a whole MS OS can be several Gigabytes in size.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I recently read advice on microsofts forum regarding app store not working. I've read a variety of reasons:
- diff between local and roaming profile (I've changed to local)
- Norton interfering with process/defender turned off
So I've tried turning Defender on but can't seem to find the setting for this and am greeted witht the message: you have this feature furnted off and go to the user settings.
I've attempted turning off norton firewall and anti virus before attempting to update apps in the store.
At present I'm unable to upgrade or purchase any apps.

I'm not keen on uninstalling Norton, although will do this if needed. However, I'm wanting to cover any other bases before I do this. I've been unable to update apps for around 6 months now and am now jack of this.

Any help would be appreciated. I have just tonight completed the windows all in one download and process to the letter from this website. It's probably fixed a lot of stuff I wasn't aware of but not my particular issue.

Thanks in Advance!!

Regards,

Steve.

PS - I run a Toshiba Satelite Win 8 Pro 64bit, 8mb RAM with media player also installed/Norton Internet Security.

Answer:Win 8 Pro 64 bit - store will not upgrade apps

For starters, you could remove Norton. I know you'd prefer not to but it's not as if you couldn't reinstall it later.
Once it is uninstalled, then you'd be able to go into the Control Panel to the Windows Defender feature and get it started there.
Installing Norton automatically turns Defender off.
BTW: In case you're interested in my opinion, there's no way I would have Norton run on my computer or those of my clients (I run a computer repair shop).
Moving on.
I have a question.
Are you able to install free apps? Just asking, as you didn't mention it.

The one and only time that I ran into the same problem as you have, is when I had turned off Windows Automatic Updates, as per a client's request.
With Updates turned off, you cannot download or update any apps.

Hi,

Been away for a while.....too much work. Installed Windows 8.1 over Windows 8.0 on 4 computers, like everyone through the store or via MS website.

One computer does not see the upgrade in the store and when going to the MS website, refuses to install.

This has probably to do with the fact that there are 8 updates that does not install either.

Sure when installing the updates, one gets the message that updates completed and you see only optional updates.

But when closing the screen, reopening, updates are there again.

Mailed MS last week, but no answer......

Anyone to get me in the right direction to overcome this?????
thanks
Jeff

I have a long standing Live account, and my computer has been set as a trusted device. when I upgraded to W8 I was thrilled to be able to purchase apps for my computer and have many photo apps and art apps. I upgraded to 8.1 and now I can not log in to the store at all. I go through the process and at the last stop I get a screen telling me that there is another account on this PC using that account. I know this, it is me, on my account! I need to purchase something and i can not. I am afraid to even try and run something because I do not want to get locked out of my already purchased apps. What should I do to fix this? So far Microsoft has not responded to my request for help. I am trying to get a job done and really would like to use a particular app to do it. One I need to buy. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

I upgraded on 7/29 and none of my Store Apps work. Store app is grayed out with a download arrow. I have run sfc /scannow and DISM restore health commands. There are no issues. I saw a command to fix the issue in another part of the forum, which I ran and completed but still no joy. That command:

Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015.8.3.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml"

I have gone though Brink's excellent Tutorials on re-registering Store and all apps. When reregistering Store, attachment "Error Store Reg" gives the details.

When I try and re-register all apps, attachment "StoreAppReReg-error" shows the errors.

When I run wsreset.exe, I get the error "ms-windows-store:PurgeCaches. The application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application to fix the problem". I have been reluctant to do this in case I lose StoreApp altogether after removal and cannot install again.

Would greatly appreciate any help. Have spent hours on this issue

Not sure why this happened, but I did an inplace-upgrade using the .iso created from the Media Tool Creator. When i checked apps on Windows 10, none of my Windows apps where there. I logged into another account and there was also no Windows apps. Is there a reason why this happened?

When you started the ISO, did you tell it to save all apps and files?

I purchased and installed Windows 8 some time ago and then upgraded to 8.1 via the Windows Store.
When I got the upgrade I saved the ISO file in case I needed to reinstall.
At no time did I receive a different product key for the store version of 8.1 and now that I wish to reinstall I find that my original Windows 8 product key doesn't work.
I ran Belarc Advisor which shows that I do indeed have Windows 8.1 PRO X64 installed and the product key is indeed the same key that I used for Windows 8.
Short of going back and reinstalling Windows 8 and reapplying all the updates it seems I am stuck.
Going that route would also entail converting my disks back to MBR from GPT.

How do I get around this?

PS
I also cannot create installation media.

Answer:Can't find product key for Windows 8.1 upgrade from store

Ran Windows Toolkit 2.5.1 and it displayed two product keys, one for Windows 8 and one for 8.1.
Wonder why the other products only found one product key.
In any case, problem solved.

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 with Windows Store. But Store refuses to let me download, saying I do not have administrator rights. I am with an administrator account and a ms account login. But it still doesn't let me. I
put UACs at minimum. I tried creating a new admin account, same problem. With the integrated account Administrator, which was desactivated, I can't access Store at all. I did all the updates, I ran a MS FixIt utility to checkproblems with Windows update,
it fixed nothing.....
How can I upgrade to Windows8.1? Actually my question should be, how do I give myself the rights to do it?
I am really not happy of not having rights on my own machine.
Thank you for your help. I am really lost here :)

Answer:Windows Store doesn't let me upgrade to 8.1, says I am not administrator

Try this it worked for me
First, find where all the updates for windows are listed.  Go to Control Panel ---> Programs.  Then under Programs and Features, you'll see a link called "View Installed Updates".  Under Microsoft Windows, scroll until you find KB2871389.
Uninstall it, and then accept the prompt to reboot your computer.

Now, login under your account (that has admin privileges) and then go to the corner until the floating menu comes up and choose settings.  From settings choose change PC settings at the bottom.  Then, click on "windows
update" at the bottom of the right hand side of your screen.  Check for updates now and it will take a few minutes, but they will find one (KB2871389).  There
is a message telling you that it will download automatically in a few days, but ignore that, click on the link for one important update, and choose install now (or some such thing).

Log in on an admin account, go to the store, choose the 8.1 update, and now, no admin problems.

I am buying a new Dell laptop this afternoon. There is a great deal on a machine with 8.1 and the store will install a free upgrade to windows 10. Is there nay difference in a new machine vs buying the machine with windows 10 factory installed? Pros/Cons?
Thanks

Answer:windows 10 store upgrade on laptop vs factory installed?

Not really, you could always upgrade the 8.1 version then do a clean install to w10 to get the same result. The only thing missing could be any software that the OEM had installed...which maybe a good thing!

Does a store install from 8.1 to 10 on a new laptop work as well as a new laptop with 10 factory installed?

Answer:Windows 8.1 with store upgrade to 10 vs factory installed 10 functionality the same?

By "store install", I'm assuming that you are referring to taking your new laptop to a place like Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. and have them do the installation of Windows 10 for you?
If you have a store handle the install, they are responsible for making sure all the appropriate drivers are installed for your particular hardware. There should be no issues if you do it that way. However, if this is a laptop that you have been using for a while, I'd recommend a backup in case someone messes it up. If this is a laptop that you plan to "purchase" and have them upgrade it for you on-the-spot, then I would be comfortable with that. You may even get a better deal on it as they are probably wanting to get rid of their old OS stocked laptops.
One reason I would consider Windows 10 pre-installed is if I were considering dedicated new hardware designed to work with Windows 10, like the RealSense camera for Windows Hello. You won't find such hardware on a model that doesn't have Windows 10 already installed.

Hi,

Does anyone know if a store-bought Windows 10 can be used to upgrade a Vista system?

Answer:Can a Store-bought Windows 10 upgrade a Vista system?

You may need to check with your manufacturers website (Dell, Acer, etc) to see if there are any drivers available for your computer for Windows 10. If no drivers are available then you won't be able to upgrade to Windows 10.

If you don't know then give us your computers manufacturer and serial number or service tag number to verify on it.

Greetings,
Due to an error with Windows Update ["WindowsUpdate_8024001F" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" which 'magically' fixed itself after a number of rebooting because of the the runtime error mentioning here] I performed a clean boot following the steps
mentioned here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
Normally, upon restarting, I am brought to the login screen with my user icon, and after entering my password I am able to log on.
Upon restarting after configuring msconfig.exe for a clean boot, I am stopped at the login screen. My user icon and the password field does not load, and after about 30~50 seconds, the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window pops
up. If I press OK, the error window disappears but the user icon and password field does not appear. Wait another 30~50 seconds, the  Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window appears again. This seem to repeat endlessly.
EDIT: I have never had runtime error before, and the error isn't popping up again, unless i configure for clean boot.

I was able to log back in by reverting the changes in msconfig.exe during Safe Mode, and so that is not my question.

I want to ask, what are some possible reasons for this error window?

That might stop the error for you.

Hi I could really do with some help here which I just don't seem to be able to get from 1&1. I have been sold 2 separate packages from them. Package A is two domain names; package B is their home package. I simply want to see the 2 domain names of package A when I am working with package B as I want to use one of those domain names as my URL. Same company, same geographical storage location. How difficult can that be?

Answer:1&1 Home package and URL from another package

you have purchased two 'packages'. If you bought two domain names, and have one of them hosted, you can point the second domain name to it.Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick - in which case perhaps you can supply more information?

Hello Tech Guys! I came this site because I was so skillfully helped about four years ago dealing with another windows issue. The site looks great.

I am not computer illiterate, but advanced I am not either. I installed Microsoft Office 2007and Microsoft Desktop Search yesterday. I didn't like Desktop Search and uninstalled it. I also changed some start up configurations with msconfig. This morning when restarting my computer an error message came up:

___________________________________________________________________

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error
Program c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe

R6025

Pure Virtual Function Call

___________________________________________________________________
I have ran norton and it works fine. Once I click OK on the error and the Norton box on the toolbar disappears. Then I click on the icon and it comes back up. I don't know if this is a problem or not.

I have run a full scan, windoc, and a couple other programs to rid the registry files. I ran RegCure and ParetoLogic. Maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but it does run a little slower at start up and always gives that error message.

Also when I look at Windows Task Manager, the svchost.exe (system) sometimes is running at 58,000K to 27,000K. Is that right?

Let me know what you think and what I should do. I want to thank you in advance for just being such a great tool in our internet world. Taylor

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error for IExplorer

If you think the problem could be malware related, follow the steps below and we will find out.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

2. Uninstall Eset Smart Security Suite
3. Reboot and then download and run Auto Runs

4. Select the Boot Execute tab and check that there is no phantom start-up process
5. If there is a phantom program or something that relates to the error message then end the process.
6. reboot and if the error is gone reinstall Eset Smart Security Suite

Hey World!I have a Windows Vista Home Premium. With all the updates etc. When i switch on my computer, it loads up, then on the loading screen with the little wheel that goes round and round, it kinda stays there fro unusually long. Then an Error Message comes up that reads:"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."Then the whole thing freezes and does nothing and i end up having to pull the plug. Now, iv tried a couple of things:Iv loaded it up on Safe Mode and everything is fine. However, SOMETIMES, when i restart it works in normal mode, but not all the time, and it is usually a one off, then it goes back to being broke.I have used CCleaner to find and fix all registry problems, but that doesnt cure it.I have gone back to a restore point, and it works until i restart it.The internet doesnt really offer any help: it just uses it as an opputunity to advertise products which are as good as CCleaner. What i would like to know, is wat program is causing this problem, and how i should fix it.Cos i hardly think turning off all the startup objects while in Safe Mode is a good solution, while it stops the problem from happening, it also stops things from loading that i want to load.Any Help most grateful.ThanksThe Doctor

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I do not know what this is or what is causing it. But right before this message appears, I get a message asking about a proxy? I have no Idea what a proxy is. So I click no for the proxy. and that is when the error message occurs. As far as I know of I do not need a proxy to download any programs. Could this be causing the error message?

Answer:Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library, Runtime Error!

I'm sorry if I'm not allowed to do this but I wanted to say I get this same error whenever I run Registry Booster V2 by Uniblue. It starts the scan then after a certain point I get that error and the program shuts itself down.

Error reads as follows...

"Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

This happens when I try to run internet explorer. Firefox works fine. This error started after I installed limewire. Bad, Bad boy. It's now unistalled forever. I believe everything is now cleaned up I use Norton AV & PCTools spyware doctor, however I can't get around this error message. Seems like a C++ bug/virus is trying to or has attached itself to iexplore.exe.

Any help on this? Please?!!

Thanks, rnaef

Hi, I've searched endlessly on the forums here, microsoft support, and any other technical support forum Google could direct me to and still have not found a solution. I'm not much of a computer guru, but hopefully i can explain my problem enough for you to help me. If i need to show any logs then please tell me how to and i'd be more than happy to help you help me.
On to my problem.

While playing 1701 A.D. (it happens most often with this game, but with other games also) after anywhere from half hour to an hour my game locks up (i can still use the mouse and easily ctrl-alt-kill the program) and this message is displayed:
I have vista on an Hp laptop DV9000 series laptop, my computer is more than strong enough to handle this game. There is also no chance it's over heating. Ive tried right clicking on the exe file and changing compatibility, it didn't make a difference. i downloaded new drivers but that might not have worked properly, i have to install them from hp and it never installs right. The problem existed before i tried to download a new driver and still exist. I also scanned my computer with Trend micro Anti Virus and spyware and have found no possible causes. If there is anything you need me to do please let me know. I appreciate your help.

This is an error in Internet Explorer. Have you installed any plugins or anything new tith Inetrnet Explorer? Itr seems it may be currupt somehow. You should try searching on your XP cd to find Iexplorer.exe and replacing the defective Iexplorer. It's located in C:\WINDOWS\Program Files\Internet Explorer. This should fix it.

Hello, I hope someone can help.

I have been using Cucusoft YouTube Mate for a long time and suddenly today I get this message:

runtime error "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"

I'm not very computer smart and I don't understand why this has suddenly happened and what I can do to fix it.

I would appreciate any help.

Answer:Runtime error this application has requested the Runtime to terminate

Welcome to Seven Forums MissTottenham. Can you post the complete, exact error code? The generic "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" is unfortunately very common. If you can post a screenshot of the error, even better.

A full spyware/virus check is in order. Might want to try repairing IE too.

Also, this is a perfect opportunity to get yourself a real browser. Download Opera of Firefox on a CD or a flash disk and install on your computer to get a functional browser.

Answer:Need fix for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error

Hi,

Mostly, this kinds of error can be caused by two factors:

1.Runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries are missing.
2.Software problem.

If the issue is caused by #1, you can reinstall the Runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries to resolve the problem.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

If the issue still persists after installing above package, the issue should be a software problem. I suggest you take a clean boot check whether it is a software conflict issue. If not, it is still recommended to address the problem with manufacturer support. Thank you for your understanding.

Looks like it might be a Spyware Trojan (Troj/Loony-J).

I would start by going thru the steps outlined here, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

That should get rid of it. If not, ask for help in that (Spyware)Forum.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Got a problem which has developed over past few days. Tried to use HP image zone which came with HP 2350 series printer/scanner. Hadn't used it in a long time and when I tried to access it received 0xc0000135 error. Got in touch with HP. They advised uninstalling the software, downloading .net framework 1.1 and reinstalling. Even though I have .net 1.1, they said reinstall it. I have uninstalled the printer and tried to download .net framework 1.1 from Microsoft downloads site. When I try to install it I am getting the following message :

Visual C++ runtime library

Runtime error

Program C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe

The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

I thought it might be a windows installer problem so I downloaded Windows installer 3.1 with no problem.

Done all the usual scans for viruses, malware, spyware and found nothing.

Can anyone help ?

Cheers,

Aidanski

Answer:Runtime Error Visual C++ Runtime Library

I am getting the same error message, often. I just saw on Microsoft that there is an update to the Windows Installer program. If the version number is 3.1.4000.2435, the computer has Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) which is the most current. So you might have to update, see link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898628/Windows InstallerI already have 3.1(v2) loaded, but I am getting Runtime Errors regularly from Norton System Works/anti-virus. I am running XP/home, also using Webroot Spy/Virus and System Mechanic Pro 6. I update and scan regularly, but get no findings, even using the Trend freebie. Do I sound paranoid? But my Event Viewer showed lots of errors today (only because I just found it). source nview_infoerror event id: 1 and MSI Installer (source) event id 11316 User: ROMEMAIN\Owner. I also got warnings on warnings on Source EvntAgnt EventID 1015 Warning TraceLevel parameter not located in registry; Default trace level used is 32. Do I have problems? I think sooooo. Also Perf... rears its ugly head regularly. From my readings, the community has decided to ignore those PerfLib_PerfData files. But I got the message, again from Event Viewer, PerfNet Error Event 2002 and 2004Unable to open the Redirector service. Redirector performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.I know I'm only supposed to put one problem in one report; but I am so confused! I am thinking my next step should be to update DirectX which appears to get updated ... Read more

I updated my Vista with Win 7 32 bit. I don't see much difference in performance. I installed Adobe 8 yesterday. My screen also blacks out and comes back and out again.....Argh....

You could try doing a System Restore to a date prior to the Adobe install -- this might be a quick fix if something didn't get installed correctly.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

---------------------------------------------------------------

It's likely to be an application error or conflict. Back in Win98 days installed games like Solitaire frequently had conflicts with installed antivirus programs or certain other apps.

Try testing this issue using "clean boot" techniques -- it seems like a good candidate for that if it happens predictably.

You might want to even start in Safe Mode first and see if it happens there -- if not, you've ruled out a problem with system files, including the game itself.
First, restart in Safe Mode if necessary -- (tap the f8 key promptly on startup and choose the Safe Mode option from the boot menu) or Normal mode

Then:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup items" on the general page.
Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as w... Read more
