How to rename Hotmail account after reconnecting on Outlook 2013

Question: How to rename Hotmail account after reconnecting on Outlook 2013

Hello,

By default, when adding hotmail accounts on Outlook using EAS, the account got added with FULL HOTMAIL NAME:
[email protected]

There was a process by which the left pane of Outlook showed any Name that user wanted.

Now with reconnecting Hotmail account in Outlook (going to Exchange), the same situation of FULL HOTMAIL NAME in the left panel has come up.

The older process (with EAS) does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to rename Hotmail account after reconnecting on Outlook 2013

When you say old process were you connecting to "Hotmail" as a POP account?

Mine shows exactly as yours does but even before I did the reconnect it showed that way.

How do I get my Hotmail emails over into my new Outlook Hotmail account I inadvertently created my new account without checking properly

Answer:How to get my old Hotmail emails into my new Outlook Hotmail account

Here's how you add your Hotmail account to your Outlook.com account. I don't know if you'll get your messages over or not. They're two separate accounts that can't be merged.

Can you get back old Hotmail account, after having renamed it to new Outlook account?
Well here is Microsoft's answer on Reddit!

If you renamed your account, and want to rename it back to the original name, you can do that.
IMPORTANT: This may not work if you are outside of the US and have a "@live.com" or "@Hotmail.com" address!
First, remove the alias that was created when you renamed your account (the alias will be for the original name).
Go to http://account.live.com, select "Notifications" then "manage your email preferences" and you'll find links to remove aliases.
Second, go back to the Rename page, Sign In and rename back to the original name.

Hope it helps someone!

I have Office Professional 2013 installed, and with that comes Outlook 2013 email as the prime account.

I have one Gmail and two Hotmail email accounts linked to the Outlook 2013 email account, and usually accessible via the Outlook Mail app.

However, since 02 July 2017, no Hotmail emails have been downloaded for viewing via the Outlook 2013 Mail app. There is no problem at all with the Gmail account emails.

Yet if I login to my Hotmail accounts to view them online, I can see and read emails that have arrived since 02 July 2017.

Snips related to this problem are attached.

Hello

I need for someone to help me out on this one. I'm working on two computers which are running Windows 8 and Office

2013. One is running Office 2013 home/business and the other 2013 pro. I have a Hotmail account added to it that for

an unknown reason is making outlook crash. Nonetheless, it only abruptly occurs. For instance, whenever I type an

external email address from my address book; the list will populate, but at times after you select a user, the application

just hangs. What I have tried is as follows; I did a quick repair to Office both local and online, Outlook /resetnavpane, I

expunged several add-ins that I thought might be bugging and I even called Microsoft, but as always Mr. Habbib

Malakapapek advised me to download Microsoft business contacts manager which did not help at all. That jabberwocky

application did not even import the address book automatically. Btw, this was done on both computers and same result.

The only thing I did not try was reset the outlook profile. I though it would be unnecessary to do since it crashes on both

computers. Hence someone please give me a tip on what you think about this issue. And ohhh, I subsequently have two

other gmail accounts added to stupid outlook and Idk if that could be conflicting.

P.S

Is there no *.n2k file in Outlook 2013?

I know the server settings are correct because they work on my phone and at my office. This is an Exchange 2010 account. It makes it through the auto discovery, then says that I have to restart outlook. When I restart outlook it pop-up with windows security window, so I input username and password.

This pops up.

Then this.

Then this.

The exchange server name shows up as a .local which would work if I was on the network at the office.

Answer:Outlook 2013 Cannot add a new account

For starters, there is a certificate error. Is your company using a self-signed certificate? If so, you'll need to import the root certificate from your company's certificate store into the computer you are trying to connect with. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923575

You said you know the server settings are correct, and that the exchange server name ends in .local. That server can only be accessed from computers connected to your company's network. If you are trying to connect from home, you will need to contact your IT department to ensure the Outlook Anywhere service is enabled on the Exchange server. Your phone can connect because it is using a different protocol than what Outlook uses.

How do I set up second Yahoo account on Outlook 2013?

One yahoo account has worked for a year. This was a new account opened exclusively on a new computer with a virgin Outlook 2013.

The second yahoo account cannot be opened on the new computer. This second and older account still works on my old computer and on my iPhone 6, but I can't get it to work on the new computer with Outlook 2013. I have tried the automatic setup and have tried to copy the account settings over. The error message is:
"Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)."

Can Outlook differentiate between similar names like [email protected] and [email protected]?

I have a Windows 10 phone (Verizon 735), a couple of Windows 10 laptops, and annual Office 365 subscription. Just a home user and have all my Contacts/Calendar in Outlook, but don't have an Outlook email account....just AOL accounts which I get via Imap/Pop.
In past, I setup m.hotmail.com to sync across laptops and phone but sketchy at best. Just got notifications to "Re-connect Outlook 2016 ". Deleted old Outlook account and added new account....tried no hotmail this time. Outlook came up great...only 1 calendar!!!!! However nothing syncing with phone. Assume still need hotmail?
All I want to do is have my Outlook contacts and calendar synced with all my devices. Assume this should be very basic as guess all this is on "My Cloud"? Also, should be the minimum if Windows phone has any chance. Appreciate any help.

Hi there
PLEASE TO ANY DEVELOPERS OF SOFTWARE : Don't dumb the stuff down so much that it's impossible to repair it if it goes wrong.

Outlook 2013 won't set up an email account if the TEST SEND EMAIL fails.

This is a really stupid error on the part of the developers -- if you are in some places often your ISP won't let you logon to your email server to SEND email from programs like OUTLOOK (SPAM protection amongst other things) but insist that you use their webmail unless you are actually LOGGED ON to the ISP.

ISP's have no problem with you READING Email while on say a public / other Wi-Fi system but often restrict the SENDING of emails through their servers from such Wi-Fi accesses - you often have to be logged on to your own ISP.

So if you are trying to set up the account while you are staying in a Hotel and using their broadband service it fails -- all I want is to be able to READ email until I can logon at home.

I can SEND via webmail or mobile phone so the stupid install process shouldn't stop me CREATING an account even if for the moment I can't use it for SENDING.

GRRH! -- Don't the developers EVER speak to the END USERS any more before designing some install rubbish system like this.

Showstopper for me this one

Rolled back to Office 2010 -- Outlook 2010 works fine - you can SKIP the test email send --this is what they should allow on Outlook 2013 as well. !!!!!

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Office 2013 - Outlook cannot configure account

Maybe some "stability updates" will be released. Always the same problems with new software...

Good thing I couldn't upgrade (no free offer or reductions).
The Office 2010 runs super fast on my laptop and (for me) there's no need for another version for the moment.

I have just installed Outlook 2013 and started my mail account. Unfortunately I let Outlook configure my email account automatically and it configured as IMAP and not a POP account so I have an OST instead of a pst

what is the best way to delete the account I created and start again this time configuring the servers manually ?
Thanks

Answer:redo outlook 2013 mail account

Personally I would leave the account as it is. An IMAP account have the advantage of leaving copies of e-mail on the server. So in the event of system failure all your e-mails are safe.

Are you able to send/receive e-mail ok?

Hi everyone,
I'm having a strange problem with my IMAP account in outlook 2013. My account does not download my mails after I open the program. I need to go to the send/receive tab and click the  'update folders' button.

I've tried deleting and re-installing the imap account. It also does not fetch the mails when I use the F9 button.
I'm using Win7 (64bit) and Office 2013 Professional Plus (32bit), both office and Windows are up to date according to windows update.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

I just acquired an HP Pavilion 500-C60 desktop computer that came preloaded with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013.  [I once used Windows Vista Business with Office 2003, which worked fine.]

I’m now unable to activate Outlook 2013 – i.e. I can’t send or receive e-mail messages per the following:

When receiving - I get “The connection to the server was interrupted.”  Somewhere I heard or read that “imap” should be instead of “pop” (or “pop3”) when using Outlook 2013 in Windows 8.1.

When sending - I get “Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server.”  BTW, my ISP is comcast.net and I was directed to an online file: - “Configure Outlook 2013 for Comcast E-Mail” (accessed via Google).  Each time I follow this procedure and get to the final step – “Test Account Settings “ - the Test fails - and I can’t finalize my e-mail new account configuration.

Has anyone else had this problem – and how did you overcome it?  [BTW, I’m only semi-computer literate in such matters and would appreciate a step-by-step approach to finally get back into “e-mail land.]”

Thanks,

I have two issues, they are somehow related:

1- Am always prompted to enter the account credentials for an Office365 e-mail on MS Outlook.. without even closing and reopening Outlook, am suddenly prompted to enter the credentials, no network disconnection occurs during this time

2- The second problem is that I have to enter the credentials 4 times before it gets connected again! it is similar to what happens when the password is wrong, however, I just check the remember password and click on Ok 4 times and am connected
any suggestions for both problems?!
Solving the first one might ease the impact of the second...

Hi I need some advise.

I've been using Outlook 2013 in Win 8 on other partition.

I wanted to backup my old Outlook 2013 account settings and restore them into Outlook2016 because I have 7-8 email accounts. I did the registry backup from outlook /15/profile/outlook .

But in Outlook 2016 the profile registry is located in outlook/16/profile/outlook.

If I click the backed up registry in win10 , the registry installed in wrong directory outlook/15/profile/outlook
That is why my Outlook2016 cannot see the restored accounts.

How can I change or transfer the registry to the original directory outlook/16/profile/outlook?

Please some one if can assist me.

Million thanks

I use Outlook 2013 for four different email accounts - two hotmail. com accounts, one outlook.com account, and one sbcglobal.net POP account provided by AT&T via Yahoo.

Beginning a week or so ago, I've started getting password prompts throughout the day for the sbcglobal.net account. I select the checkbox to save the password, but I keep getting prompted for it. This happens maybe once an hour, sometimes more. It's really annoying.

I know the password I'm supplying is correct because I do get email for the account, and I've verified the password using the ATT/Yahoo web interface.

Any suggestions how to stop the repeated prompts?

Answer:Outlook 2013 repeatedly prompts for email account credentials

Were you able to resolve this problem? I have the same issue with my sbcglobal.net account under Outlook 2016 with my MS Office 365 subscription. Time frame is about the same...for the past five days or so. I have tried repairing my email accounts, manually updating them, and clearing the credential manager of all generic credentials. In credentials, there is the option to "remove" the credentials for the SSO_POP_Device and SSO_POP_User, but I have been reluctant to do so. I shut down Skype, because I found a thread where someone said that seemed to be their conflict. I have not made changes to my passwords lately. The only hinky thing is my installation of Join.me. Once I did that, my home page changed, as did my default search browser, but I chalked that up to me not being careful enough with the install. That said, though, that is about the time I started having this problem.

Any ideas gratefully accepted!

Answer:outlook and hotmail account

The free Hotmail account will no longer work with Outlook. If I remember rightly a figure of about £12.00 is required to open yourself up to the biggest Spam-fest in the business.Don't get me wrong, I use Hotmail, but the levels of spam in it's system is huge and their filters only get about 2/3rd of it. You also have to check the spam folder anyway, just to see if anything has been incorrectly assigned.I reckon it's less hastle to leave the lot on line.

I told the computer NO I do NOT want to "try" outlook go directly to hotmail when it started showing up upon log in. Well it ignored me and forced it on me anyway. At first it would let me just use that gear thing and tell it to switch back. It KEEPS doing it though? Is there a way to make it NOT automatically force the outlook on me? Something is wrong with it if I use the IE browser to get into my email. It lets me log in then sits there spinning its wheels indefinitely. I figured out to go use a different computer with firefox on it to log in so I could at least clean it out from all the junk but I am fed up now. Am I or am I not going to be aloud to KEEP hotmail. Will I eventually be forced to keep the outlook? I hate to have to do it but if that is the case I need to quick pull all my contacts etc and start using yahoo or something else that actually WORKS and lets me delete crap without opening it first!

Answer:outlook keeps taking over my hotmail account

As I understand it we can continue to use hotmail.com and live.com addresses indefinitely. I suspect that the Hotmail GUI will disappear completely one of these days and we'll be left with the Outlook GUI or one of Microsoft's email clients.

Hi.
I still have a Hotmail account I want to secure better. Right now all I have to do is enter my email address and then approve the login with the authenticator on my phone.
Well jeez.. talking about making it easy to break into my account! If someone knows the code of my phone, all they need to do is look at my iPhone info and they can see my email address. Then, simply enter the email address and approve it and BAM they're in!
At least Gmail asks for a password AND the authenticator code when logging onto an 'unknown' device. Or does it work the same way for Hotmail/Live/Outlook?
I prefer to always log in with my password initially. If I didn't have a password on my PC, they'd very easily be able to log into my Hotmail account, since 'stealing' a phone login code is very, very easy. People will just stand behind you, watch you tap your login and BAM it's game over. Sure, they'd still need to get a hold of my phone, but man, I just hate it that Hotmail switched it around.
You should always have to enter your password first, and an extra code from your phone as an extra.
I'm asking this specifically, because my Gmail has a Hotmail account as backup email address.
Thanks.

I have an outlook account <removed by mod>
i'm not able to login here because of password is incorrect, so finally how to reset it. I'm using window 10 OS.
I need toll free Outlook/Hotmail support number.

Answer:How to get back into my Outlook/Hotmail account?

i have removed the email address as it will provide you with a lot of SPAM
There is no support number , for outlook/hotmail as far as I know, BUT that may have changed now with Windows 8 (when MS first started linking email accounts to PCs for login)
you can goto chat - and MS will assist via Chat service

If you have forgotten the password - goto another Pc that works
Login page for the account
Then click on forgotten password
you then have to either do
a) Enter the mobile number to get a text code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
b) Enter the alternative email address to get a Code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
c) Enter the answers to the security questions

If you cannot do any of these - then there is a form to try and rescover the account
You need to provide a lot of details, and on the three attempts I have tried this to help people, they have an email back saying not enough information and ended up changing to a new email address and never did recover - BUT Thats before this windows 8 and using MS password

so you maybe OK to use Chat line

What country are you in - you may have a support number - not sure it will be toll free
the UK is 0344 800 2400

Hi Guys

I have an old hotmail account so I can use programs such as outlook to view my e-mails which is what I have been doing for many years though Outllook 2002,2003 and now 2007. Everything has been fine up until this week when I started getting a 0x800cccf0 error. I have attached a jpeg so you can see the error message in full. I don't know if it is a hotmail problem or not my NTL account is working fine. The PW is correct as I can log onto the webmail.

I recently boought Office 2003 and I am having some trouble setting Outlook to open my hotmail account. Whenever I try to "Add new e-mail account" onto Outlook I go through the wizard and follow all the instructions (entering my e-mail account name, password etc) and it gets as far as transferring my hotmail files to Outlook and then an error window apears saying "the server responded 'access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook express now requires a subscription' please upgrade at http//upgrade.msn.com'".Ok I checked out that link and the only way to upgrade there is by paying a subscription (which I don't want to do). Also the funny thing is that a friend of mine just configured his Hotmail account to Outlook only a few days ago without a problem??Does anyone know how I can set up Outlook to my Hotmail without paying a subscription??

Answer:Setting up Outlook 2003 with my hotmail account???

As suggested in this link click hereyou could try MrPostman from click hereThis works for most webmail. I tried it with Yahoo, just to test it, and it worked It is has a configuration to work with Hotmail.I am not going to delete my Hotmail folders to try it while I can currently D/L to OE :-))

I have perused many forums about this and can find nothing that is comprehensible or useful!

I have created a folder in my Outlook for my Hotmail account, and the Inbox contents have come over but not the folders. It seems a simple request but I can't find a solution.

1. I don't need Outlook Connecter - the account is already created.
2. Microsoft Help is useless, so please don't tell me to go there!
3. If you are going to speak to me of .pst files, please explain what they are, where they are and what to do with them!

I can't find anything in the Outlook menus - am I missing something? I also can't find anything in Hotmail.

PLEASE HELP!!

Answer:How do I import Hotmail folders into my Outlook account?

Hi, welcome to the Forum.

Hello,

I have a Microsoft account and I am using it with Windows 10.

I want to use the Windows 10 built in Mail App.

It seem very nice.

I added multiple Gmail and Yahoo accounts without any issue.

But, finally, when I want to add more Hotmail accounts Windows 10 told me to use "Windows Hello" or something like that.

I really don't want that Windows adds ANOTHER USER in my computer, I only want to use MULTIPLE Hotmail/Outlook mails and their contacts and calendar!!!

I am afraid that it will add them as USERS of the computer, I don't want it!!!

PS: I found an half solution, I don't add the Hotmail account as "Outlook" account but as GENERIC INTERNET account. And it works. But I cannot use CONTACT and CALENDARS of it.

All Windows Live Hotmail accounts can be used with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or with Office Outlook 2003, whether you use a free or paid Windows Live Hotmail account. To use your Windows Live Hotmail account together with Outlook, you must first install the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for Windows Live Hotmail.

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Prof. I installed Outlook Connector 12.1 and added my hotmail and MSN accounts. Both showed up in my mail folders list and both connected to the web and downloaded just fine.

When I tried to Send/Receive just my hotmail account, it was not listed in the Send/Receive group, so I checked the Email Accounts list. The hotmail account is not listed in my Email Accounts list (tools, Email Accounts, View/change), yet it is showing in the Mail Folders. I can send mail from that account if I hit reply on a received message but not if I try to select that account on a new message. I uninstalled Connector, and removed MSN from the list but I cannot remove hotmail as it’s not on the list of accounts. When I try to close the folder (right click, close [email protected]) I get an error saying to use the Email Accounts list to remove it...but it’s not on the list.

Any idea how to remove an email account that shows up in the Mail Folders but is not listed as an account in the Email Account list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Connector- remove Hotmail account

I_am_psYon,

Welcome to TSG!

Try this:

In Outlook's Account Settings window, go to the Data Files tab and select your Personal Folders and click Open Folder.

In the window that comes up you should see a file named emailid_hotmail.ost. Close Outlook and delete this file.

Reopen Outlook to see if Hotmail account is gone.

Hi. I have a similar problem. I don't have a Microsoft account, I don't want one. My Windows 8 E-Mail address is for the E-Mail account on the family webserver, and yet when I get the confirmation E-Mail, it links me to a hotmail/outlook login page.

hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account, how do I get past this aggravating obstacle?

Answer:hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account

When Win 8 asks you to verify your account, it shows you your email address in one box with some of the characters replaced by *s and wants you to type in the email address in its entirety in another box. Once you do that, an email is sent to that address with a code for you to enter to verify.

There shouldn't be any confusion about which email address to enter unless you have 2 different but very similar email addresses.

I recently loaded a pop3 Hotmail account to my Outlook 2010 since I was having problems with the MAPI Hotmail sending multiple copies of emails with large attachments. I am hoping the pop3 version will eliminate this problem; however, I can't seem to get the pop3 account to find my contacts and Contacts folder does not appear in the folder list. This is stressing my pea sized brain and I sure could use some help.

I have a IMAP Hotmail account running on Outlook 2007 and suddenly it doesn't delete emails when I use the delete function on the toolbar and only sometimes deletes when I use the keyboard delete key, only then after going to another folder and coming back to my in box. I have tried running Account Setting again, even reloading my account. I used my Office 2007 disc to delete Outlook and reload it and still the problem persists. I have used Outlook 2007 and Hotmail for years without this problem. Has Windows 10 done something in an update that might cause this or what else could be my problem?

I have a desktop Pc and a laptop Pc with Office 2013. I want to export the contacts fra from the desktop to the laptop and when I export to a csv file on the desktop the e-mail adresses is missing in the file. They are not in the csv file. When I import it on the laptop names, phonenumbers, adresses etc. is ok but no e-mail adresses.

I think it is strange and I have not experienced it with Outlook 2010??

Peter

I imported the backup.pst and it did the trick.

Answer:Export Contacts from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2013 on another Pc?

when exporting as a csv file you have to map custom fields first and take the email 1 address and move it into the other side for the addresses to get in there (from left to right) or the email addresses will not go correctly into the computer you want to do it to. If you back it up with *.pst then everything goes in much easiwer

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Cheers

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

Hi there

Whoever designed the base colors for Office 2013 must have been totally STONE DEAF and COLOR BLIND at the same time. I can't believe that comments weren't made before this stuff was allowed out of the door.

There's almost no possibilities to customize the backgrounds or colors and on a large monitor the base white looks really HIDEOUS -- you need a good pair of Sunglasses while working with it.

The only other choice is some type of Grey (shown in screenshot) which looks very similar to "The Fruit Company's Window colour scheme. Still looks hideous and that Blue !!!!!.

Outlook also displays the unread message titles in the most sickly blue (can't seem to change it) I've ever seen.

Before I remove this POS from my computer is there anyway to De-Uglify or customize like I had in Office 2010 with the Black background.

I don't like it opening with a prompt screen before I get the base screen (often needs another TWO keyboard strokes !! -- example for EXCEL 2013 shown) -- I should be able to open it in a Window with the menus just like like Office 2010. It means I now have to make a load of extra keyboard strokes before I actually get a workbook screen to start getting my work done.

I don't want the sign in reminders either -- I don't intend to use Cloud services etc.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Outlook 2013 (Office 2013) Help to De-Uglify

No there isn't a way (that I know of) to change it. It was too cumbersome and hogged my Internet Speed with Cloud and whatnot; so I went back to good ol' office 2010. Maybe you should too

So for some reason, windows 8 thought it would be funny to change my user name to Al Ex instead of Alex, AND since you can't have space on the address bar, the folder ended up calling Al.
This annoyed me a lot more than it should have, because i have tried changing the user name through control panel, but that just changes the display name, not the folder's name.

How do i rename it?

Answer:How to rename user account?

Hello Alex,

The best way I found to do this would be to create a new account with the name you wanted instead, sign out of old account, sign in to the new account, copy over anything (ex: shortcuts and files) you wanted from the old account to the new one, then delete the old account.

Hope this helps,

As I am having to rebuild my system from scratch, but with my data files saved, things are not going to plan.
I installed Outlook after having changed MyDocuments. The new installation created new Outlook.pst and Archive.pst, and I have been vainly trying to hook these back to my old versions. Things are getting tangled, despite uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook a couple of times and hiding my old versions away, but Outlook seems to know where they are and half picks them up. Half, as they are the ones which are listed on the left hand pane, but when I try to send/receive, I get an error 'Outlook Data File Cannot be Accessed' with an error code 0x8004010F.

Answer:Rename Administrator Account In XP Home Possible?

I just found a link which explains how to change the Administrator name in XP version. It worked for me but I cannot vouch for the credibility of this site or the safety of using this procedure as I have never used this site before. I just mirrored my hard drive so I am not too worried. If anybody is interested in trying this please do so at your own risk.Thankshttp://www.leeindy.com/renadmin.shtml

I want to change the name of the User Profiles.
I can change the "User Names" easily and have done so. Admin, User;

It is the path names I want to change:
c:/documents and settings/clinton
c:/documents and settings/compaq_owner

This, of course, is purely cosmetic.

If I could gain " System Access" and rename it-
would everything work correctly as if I had created new accounts and transferred all the data?

I had several hotmail accounts that I could view in the Nokia 930 windows 10.
I have not installed any apps (however there wsa an app that I do not know what was doing there with the text showing @\user\microsoft\windowsapp\ etc. the text was longer an I was not able to remove the app)
However the problem of the emails did not arise after the above app was mysteriously installed but happened before.
It looked like that one specific account was inexplicably confused with another email account...e when I was tapping on one Icon app of hotmail account I would actually read the email of another account.
My main Email setup account within windows phone setup had disappeared and when trying to re added it was saying that it was already setup.
Therefore I could only but hard rest my phone. I have hard reset it four times now and every time I setup the account with my main Email account everything is fine but when I add another email account it all goes wrong with similar variations of the above issue and now I even have an error message saying the account the I added
Now I am getting has the settings out of date. I tap FIX button there is some activity but nothing happens.
How can I fix this!!!

Make a new user with the correct name. Save your important personal data to a flash drive or usb drive and then delete the old user. Playing to the angelsLes Paul (1915-2009)

i'm using vista OS in C drive there is users folder in which my name is appear, i want to rename it but when i right click on it the rename option doesn't appear. i already renamed my account from control panel-user account.

Answer:need directions to rename Vista user account

First, restart your PC to see if it has changed after the renaming you already did.If it didn't change, then try to rename it from C:\Users\{your user name}If it still does not work, create a new account with admin privileges for the name you want and then switch to this new account.Delete your previous account. Doing the above may be easier if you temporarily disable UAC. Please note disabling UAC requires a restart of the PC.Or better, wait for a better answer from other members of this elegant forum.Hope the above helps.RegardsSuatCINI

Answer:Rename the Administrator account from the Command Prompt

Hi balubeto,Net command doesn't have rename account function. Based on my research and test on our test machines, you can download a free utility named Renuser.exe to achieve this. Please refer to the  following steps:1. Download Renuser.zip file, unzip it and copy Renuser.exe file to the path: C:\Windows\System32.Please note: we provide the 3rd party software for technical use only. There may be some changes without notice, Microsoft doesn't guarantee any accuracy on contacting information. 2. Start the Command Prompt with elevated privilege.3. Type the following syntax:renuser <Current UserName> <New UserName> [<DomainName>]Since your computer isn't joined to the domain, you can skip the [<DomainName>] setting. 4. Log off the current account and log back in. Now you can see the newly renamed account is displayed on the logon screen. Best RegardsDale

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 and Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook 2003)

I was using the older version of Outlook Connector to access my Hotmail account, but recently it said that I needed to upgrade it. The automatic upgrade did not work properly, so I manually removed/un-installed the old Outlook Connector, removed the hotmail account within Outlook, and I also removed a bunch of hotmail.ost files hanging around that seemed to have no data in them (in C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - I believe they were formed when I was going through all the problems with the supposedly automatic upgrade).

Then I manually downloaded and installed the newest version 14.1 for 32-bit and through the Outlook connector interface within Outlook, re-added the Hotmail account. But now when I try to click on any Hotmail folder, the following error message appears:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location."

So I feel like I am back at square one and not sure how to get the Connector to start connecting. Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

Amazingly, I finally found the answer in another forum, of course only after I went to the trouble of making my earlier posting.

SETTING THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT AS THE DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT solves the accessing problem. I hope this can help some other poor souls out there!

I know some people have multiple hotmail accounts that they want to sync up with Outlook, and have no idea what to do in that case, but if you only have one account, this seems to work.

Hi,
I renamed my account successfully user "X" in Windows 8.1 Pro by changing the name of the "X " folder with the name "Y" in the Manager files and renaming the Value data of the file in the Registry editor's ( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ ProfileList \ S- 1-5-21-3191571139-445060046-1274765821-1005 -> ProfileImagePath ) .
However, I realize that the name associated with my User profile in the window named User Profiles (Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Configure advanced user profile properties ) is still the old name, it's to say "X".
Is there a way to rename my User profile once and for all with the new name, it's to say "Y", without deleting my actual account and make another one?
Thank you!

Answer:How to rename my User account in deep in Windows system?

Bottom line is it isn't safe, there are too many places that point to the registry entry and can fail when that entry changes. It is safer to create a new account and rename, THEN delete the old account. I went through this when installing a clean Win10. One of the accounts I created became corrupt and was unusable. I spent quite a bit of time with helpdesk and my answer is due to personal experience. :-)

Hi everyone

I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Answer:Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.

So we recently upgraded our server at work and moved to a domain from a workgroup. I migrated all the existing local user accounts to be associated with the new domain accounts which is all well and good, but the local profile folder is still named the same as the old local user account. Is there an easy way to change this to be the same as the new domain account? Or do I have to create a new local account with the correct name, copy the old profile data and then reassociate that profile with the new domain account?

Answer:Outlook replaced hotmail a/c not able get hotmail a/c opened

All Hotmail accounts were closed down a long time ago, shortly after the switchover to Outlook.comMicrosoft sent all Hotmail users an email which explained how to transfer existing Hotmail messages over to Outlook.com before a certain date.If you didn't do that it's too late now. Your Hotmail account and all messages in it have been deleted, and Hotmail no longer exists.message edited by phil22
