How to Synch. Outlook 2010 Mail & Contacts with Microsoft Account?

Question: How to Synch. Outlook 2010 Mail & Contacts with Microsoft Account?

I keep contact details in my Microsoft account (at Sign in to your Microsoft account). I've been using Outlook 2010 with the Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector and this used to synchronise my contacts fine.

However, for a while now, I've noticed mail synchronisation errors and I've had to configure my Microsoft mail account to use the standard IMAP settings (not via the Hotmail connector).

However, this method no longer synchronises my contacts. How do you configure the mail and contact settings in Outlook 2010 to synchronise both mail and contacts in Outlook 2010 with my Microsoft account?

Preferred Solution: How to Synch. Outlook 2010 Mail & Contacts with Microsoft Account?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to Synch. Outlook 2010 Mail & Contacts with Microsoft Account?

I solved it! One complication was that my Microsoft email address is personalised and doesn't end in .outlook.com. The procedure is:

Uninstall the Outlook Hotmail Connector since this no longer works. If your MS Outlook email address doesn't end in .outlook.com then you need to create an email alias online in your MS account which does end in .outlook.comAdd a new account using the account wizard using your MS Outlook email address ending in .outlook.com (which can be an alias)The account should configure quite quickly. You then have to restart Outlook 2010 and it will download and synchronise all emails, contacts etc.

I recently loaded a pop3 Hotmail account to my Outlook 2010 since I was having problems with the MAPI Hotmail sending multiple copies of emails with large attachments. I am hoping the pop3 version will eliminate this problem; however, I can't seem to get the pop3 account to find my contacts and Contacts folder does not appear in the folder list. This is stressing my pea sized brain and I sure could use some help.

Thanks

I am only using a Windows 10 system because my Windows 7 computer is sketchy and I need a reliable PC to work. I have Windows 10 up and running on a very fast system with a nice big new monitor. Migrating email to this PC is absolute hell. I can get Outlook 2010 setup with contacts imported and with email accounts. I cannot get it to receive email at all even though it shows the green check marks that it has successfully checked all accounts. I searched for answers to this and could not find any. I can live with this choice if I can get it to receive email and have it show up in the inbox.

Option 2, I have Mail and Calendar set up by I cannot get emails from WLM2012 into it nor can I get my contact list into it. I tried a work arount that said use my outlook.com account to import contact list to Microsoft. I don't have an Outlook.com account.

Anyone got instructions either on how to successfully get Outlook 2010 receiving email or how to get contact lists into Mail and Calendar? Microsoft is making me so livid right now. I lose money when this crap doesn't work.

When I add a contact or change a detail in an existing one I have to edit info on both accounts. (it always asks me which account I want to edit - and I change the same info in both accounts) 3 times now I have gone through each contact and linked the two accounts together in that contact. It just separated again giving me double contact entries in my "contacts" app on my phone.

Answer:Do I need both outlook.com and microsoft account connected to my contacts?

I imagine it's a bug if anything, your microsoft account links to the other apps (like onenote) and services whereas outlook.com simply connects to your outlook.com account along with the associated services like people.com, onedrive, office online etc.
Your main microsoft account is attached to the store which of course you can change by signing out of the store app.

Yesterday, my Outlook (2010) stopped retrieving e-mail from the Comcast server.  When I tried to fix it today, it still wouldn't work.  All the settings were correct, but it wouldn't retrieve my e-mail.  I deleted the account and recreated it.  Now, Outlook points to a new .pst file instead of my old Outlook.pst file, named [email protected]  To make matters worse, it doesn't delete the mail off the server.  Before, when I would open Outlook, it would download new message to my Inbox and delete them off the server.  The new messages would stay permanently in my Outlook inbox.  No more.  Now if I manually delete one through my Internet browser, it also deletes it out of my Outlook Inbox.  It’s as though the new account is just a window to the Comcast e-mail server.  I tried changing the Root Folder Path on the Advanced tab of the e-mail account settings to point to the location of my Outlook.pst folder, but that made no difference.  I also tried deleting a recent Microsoft update (KB3054976), but this did not help, either. This is a complete disaster for me, as I can't even send e-mail now, except through the server.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Outlook 2010 e-mail account won't sync to Outlook.pst file

I figured this out.  When I reconfigured my e-mail account in Outlook, I used IMAP settings instead of POP3.  This was not how I did it before.  IMAP works great if one wants to keep all e-mail out on the server and access it from various devices.  That isn't what I do.  I changed the profile to POP3 and the poblem was solved.  Still don't know why it initially failed two nights ago, though.

Hey everyone, My dad currently has a problem. He has hundreds of e-mails in his Outlook program but has only saved like 2% of all the e-mails to his proper contacts tab in the program. The rest he has just kept one email from them so that he can e-mail them back.

Now basically I have got to save all those email addresses from his emails and move them to his new Hotmail account. Any idea how to do this? I have no idea :/

Thanks in advance, Jack

I have a Windows 10 phone (Verizon 735), a couple of Windows 10 laptops, and annual Office 365 subscription. Just a home user and have all my Contacts/Calendar in Outlook, but don't have an Outlook email account....just AOL accounts which I get via Imap/Pop.
In past, I setup m.hotmail.com to sync across laptops and phone but sketchy at best. Just got notifications to "Re-connect Outlook 2016 ". Deleted old Outlook account and added new account....tried no hotmail this time. Outlook came up great...only 1 calendar!!!!! However nothing syncing with phone. Assume still need hotmail?
All I want to do is have my Outlook contacts and calendar synced with all my devices. Assume this should be very basic as guess all this is on "My Cloud"? Also, should be the minimum if Windows phone has any chance. Appreciate any help.

How do I need to set up my contacts so that I have one main folder with several sub folders sharing most of the same contacts. I want to be able to edit the contact information to any of the contacts from one folder and the corrections would take place to the contact in any of the other folders it may appear in. Is this possible in outlook? My database use to be in Access and it was a wonderful feature. I just can't believe that Outlook wouldn't have it.

Answer:Contacts Outlook 2010

Contacts will only appear on one place. If you have a contact named John Doe and it is filtered or categorized in multiple ways changing the contact once will change it everywhere. Do not duplicate contacts as there is no need to.

I have an Windows (Vista) notebook with outlook 2007, and now I have an new notebook with Windows 8.1. Where I want to export my mail & contact to Windows live mail, how can I import this in WLM on my other notebook?

I already have configure my mail on WLM where I can receive and send messages. I tried something with the program Mailstore 8 but my mail is now on another computer.

I also find this link: how to export mail, calendar contact in outlook to windows live mail clientWith the "Outlook Conversion Application" solution but is this possible on different computers and has WLM an import function?

Answer:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.

I recently purchased a new computer. I was successful in installing MS Office 2016 on my new computer. And I was successful in configuring my email account onto Outlook 2016. I even found out how to export my old contacts as a backup file from Outlook 2010 into a pst file and import that file into Outlook 2016. My calendars are finally synced up but how come I don't see any contacts in my new address book in Outlook 2016? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Outlook 2016 from Outlook 2010 Contacts

I also upgraded as you did.
When you open up your address book, it will have a dropdown for the Address book currently in use. It should say "Contacts - [email protected]" (whatever your email address is). I noticed mine was using the wrong email address, as I use more than one email address. I had to manually change it to where my contacts are actually saved.
These contacts are not available across email addresses. This is something I do not understand, and is extremely irritating to work with. However, it is the way it is, and I have sent my complaint to Microsoft about it. After all, I'm paying for it.
Hopefully, this helps you to locate your contacts.

Something has been sending emails containing one or two urls to my Yahoo mail contact list. A url in the email is deleted. I do not know the others although one was apparently for Canadian pills. I have run Malwarebytes, Trend Micro Housecall, iobit 360 security, spybot and I have Norton Security Suite running at all times and updated. I have run all in Safe and regular startup mode. My operating system is xp pro service pack 3. I cannot find any malware or viruses. I have change my @yahoo password and deleted my contact list. This seems to have stopped the sending of emails. Am I hacked?Thanksjohnny eagle

Answer:Yahoo Mail Account contacts Spammed

Your yahoo email account has been hacked. If you login to Yahoo and look in the Sent folder, do you see these emails listed there ? If so, then your yahoo account was probably hacked.

Your tcpview log looks clean, but that does not necessarily mean that you didnt/dont have a virus that logged your password. Only way to check for that is to do a thorough analysis in the virus removal section.

It is easy when I am viewing a contact to click on the relevant symbol to send an email to that contact and an email form appears already pre-addressed. I type the email and send it. I know from experience and tests, as well as a tracking facility I use that the email gets sent and received. However, it doesn't go to my sent mail folder. This means I have no way of referring to the content of that email in future which is a nuisance. This is never a problem when I am sending emails from the usual new emails section, but sometimes it is quicker to send some emails from within contacts where various bits of data reside. Can anyone help find emails that I have sent from within contacts?

I have outlook 2010 installed and it seems I have "different" contact lists - how? I dunno, can I "see" the folders - NO??

If I click Contacts in the main screen and then "new Contact" I create a contact and save/close. If I get a n email from someone not in my contact list and I right click on their email address I can "add" r\to outlook contacts but if I then search contacts I don't find those added by the second method above.. ??

I have to change the view - View, change view, list to see ALL my contacts. If I have the Business card view then not all contacts are shown.

Is there something screwy? Or is this "Normal" It sure as hell is annoying

I have a bunch of email addresses that have been automatically added to my Contacts in Outlook 2010, as well as some other contacts that have synced in from my phone, in addition to the many existing ones... many of the addresses and phone numbers go together with existing contacts. But is there an easy way to combine or "merge" two contact entries? Or am I stuck opening two entries, copy-and-pasting info, then deleting the extraneous one?

I have Contacts Scrubber, but it relies on two or more entries having at least some duplicate info... a lot of these extra entries are JUST automatically-added email addresses.

I have 2 Outlook 2010 contacts issues I'm dealing with...hopefully you can help.

1. Unable to search contacts.
When using the "Find a Contact" search box in the 'Find' section in the ribbon, I'm not able to get any results. I have my contacts organized into contacts, vendors, architects, franchisees, etc. Within my contacts section, I have a distribution group for each job location, but no actual contacts. The only results it will return is a distribution list...no individual contacts are returned.

2. Unable to select contacts and organize distribution groups
When I open a distribution list and try to add a new contact, I'm only able to select our corporate address list (internal), my contacts folder (containing only distribution lists), and the stupid 'suggested contacts' list containing emails of people that i don't have organized because I don't need to keep their address)...no other lists are available.

Any thoughts on how I can get through these problems? I'm using Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, Office 2010. I did allow it to setup indexing. ANY help would be appreciated...this is driving me nuts!!!!

Thanks in advance
Bill

Hello,
The title would make it sound like a simple problem, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Here is the situation. Last week a thunder storm blew through and sent a electrical spike through my protection and rendered my motherboard useless. My computer guy salvaged my data for all users from the drive. Once the motherboard was replaced, he had to repair the OS,(Vista). He then plopped the data into a folder on the drive. Now I just need to reload my programs and all that stuff. My question is this: I see the folder with all of my contacts in it. How do I get those contacts back in Outlook 2007? I tried the import wizard, but it seems that there is no option for importing that format. I looked at the properties of one of the contacts and it is listed as a .contact format. What is that? Any help would be appricated.

Hi everyone,

I am using Outlook 2010. Its searching was working fine until 3 weeks ago. I was not able to search new contacts that I added a few weeks ago. However, I could search the old contacts I added years ago. So far, I had tried to rebuild the indexing, repair Outlook and the .ost file, but they all didn't work.

I just rebuilt the indexing one more time 2 days ago. I now can search the old contacts now but not the new ones. Same problem!!!
Does anyone have any clue or solution? THANKS!!!

Rather than import them individually which would take time I understand that the easiest way is to create a CSV file of the contacts for importing.

How do I create a CSV file of my Windows Mail Contacts to import my contacts into my mail2web account.

The only file have managed to create is one of my Windows Live Mail contcts which is in excel format but when I try to import that into mail2web.com it says it is not a CSV File.

Hi, I couldn't send photos via email so I signed up for the WLM Account (thinking it might help - it didn't), I then realised I have lost all my contacts. I have closed the account which takes 60 days! Will I get my contacts back in 60 days, will I never see them again or are they hidden somewhere (I have been looking)? Please could someone advise.

Answer:Windows7 Live Mail Account lost Contacts

In Windows Live Mail, first make sure you're in the Home tab then click the button on the far right of the Ribbon (which should be the one for your WLM account). Choose "Sign out of Windows Live Mail" and your old contacts that are stored locally on your PC should reappear.
Or, you could wait sixty days for your Microsoft account to be deleted but my suggestion above is usually quicker ;)

I have Office 2013 on my HP Surface Pro and it has been working fine ever since I installed it 5 months ago.  Now today when I was sending a new e-mail and click on the TO: in order to bring up my list of contacts, I do not get the contacts list but instead
get a window that is titled "Select Names: Contacts".  Type your search keywords and click "Go" to perform a search.
I can type the person's name in the search field and it pulls them up.  I then touch on To in this search window and it will then
allow me to select OK which transfers the person's e-mail address to the New Email screen.

I can't figure out what has happened.

My contact folder still contains all of my e-mail addresses but they will not pull up from the create a new email screen when you click on the TO: field while attempting to select e-mail address.

Answer:Office Outlook 2010 will not access contacts

First, which version of Office do you have? You start by saying you have 2013, but then at the end you say you have 2010. This is important, as there are significant changes to the user interface between 2010 and 2013. Are you using the Outlook client on the computer, or the Outlook web app? Also, are you searching for the contacts in Outlook, or are you searching using the Windows 8 search bar?

I use Windows 8.1 after updating some while ago from Windows 8. My contacts are important and after any phone or email contact I record key info within "Notes". A perfect electronic card index system which also syncs via Hotmail connector with my windows phone 8.1. I always knew there was a limit to how much data I could key into "Notes", possibly 1000 characters & maybe some other space limits. I used to get a message when the note was full and I would set up a "duplicate" contact record with Name-overflow.
However, I don't get any message when I've reached my limit and I type away and save it. Then say 2 months later part of what I've typed hasn't been saved. Has the limit been changed? Is it a 8.1 problem? Can anyone help or suggest I way over overcoming my problem, please?

Answer:Outlook 2010 Contacts Notes capacity

I don't think that it will be a W8.1 problem as the limit would be set in Outlook. Your problem may lie with the sync which could have a limit for the phone.

ref. 33974158 - this is for my information only, please disregard.

Hello everyone,

I have stumbled upon really freakish issue with Outlook 2010.
Here's scenario:
My users are being migrated from XP machines with Office 2003 onto Widows 7 with Office 2010.
One particular person had a quite large amount of contacts (over 500) on his mail account. This seem to be stored on Exchange Server as they travelled across to new machine without any local migration.
Now, the problem is following:
Each contact had a business phone number and business mailing address (not electronic mail!) among lots of other details Outlook allows you to put down. Each contact also had an option marked under "Addresses" panel - "This is the mailing adress"
where next to it was written down address of given person.
When user is creating an e-mail and selects a recipient from his local address book instead of corporate one he can see a list of suggestions according to his search criteria. On this list we've seen person display name and other details, however in E-mail column there was a phone number. Seems to be pulled from field Business Phone number". When such person is selected his e-mail address shows correctly but if someone on the other end doubleclick on such contact he is able to see phone number. This is a big issue while mailing couple of people at the same time.
I've managed to narrow down the problem to this single field "This is the mailing adress&... Read more

I want to export all my contacts in Outlook 2010 to Excel. Suggestions?

Why: I am fairly sure my outlook file is corrupt. I cannot see my contacts in category view as I did when I had the same program in WinXP (I upgraded to Win7.) After 8 months, the first category appeared in the Current View box, but no others. I can see the categories in list view. I thought I would find some errors when I export them to a file I can edit.

Alternatively, is there any way to view the main Outlook file, (.pst?) in an external editor?

Hi I have Office 2010 which came bundled with Outlook. What I am trying to achieve is to trasnfer my iPhone contacts to my Outlook on my PC. I go through the iTunes contact sync and in iTunes I select Outlook as the option to sync with. After iTunes tells me the sync is complete, no contacts appear in my Outlook.

I used to have Outlook Express but now have the full-blown version of Outlook, could this be causing the problem?

Answer:Outlook 2010 problem importing contacts

Do you have iCloud Contact sync enabled on your iPhone. Note that if you do, iTunes will say that contacts were synced but like in your case, no contacts will appear within your Outlook. iCloud Contact sync and Outlook sync via iTunes do not go together.

You can alternatively export your iPhone contacts to outlook using third-party tools such as copytrans contacts:

Make sure to select the Outlook option once prompted during export.

About the time my husband left his old job we got our new Windows 7 laptop, purchased and installed Office 2010, including Outlook. Since his new job is in the same industry, he wanted to "bring home" his Outlook contacts. He exported his contacts at work (PST file) to a jump drive. I imported these to our new Outlook. Little did I realize just how many contacts he had!

As I am thinking about getting a new cell phone to sync with Outlook, I really don't want to carry around his business contacts with me! I think I will just save his PST file until he really needs it.

Now... how can I remove his contacts I imported? If necessary I could "empty" all my contacts (if that's possible to do) and re-export/re-import my personal contacts from my old laptop.

So glad to find this Windows 7 forum! Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lisa

Answer:Outlook 2010--Remove Imported Contacts?

Hi Lisa

Welcome to Seven Forums

You could try the following from Office Support:

Remove an address book

Click the File tab.
Click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings.

On the Address Books tab, click the address book that you want to remove, and then click Remove.

Hope this helps in some way

Regards

I am viewing a contact and click to send them an email and the usual form appears which I complete and send. I know, or hope, it gets sent, but it doesn't appear in my sent folder. Whereas when sending via the new email section, which involves me sometimes copying and pasting the address, the email gets listed as usual.
I would save time if I could activate "send Email" from within a contact. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Answer:Email via Contacts in Office Outlook 2010

I'm still on Outlook 2007 but you shouldn't have to copy and paste emails from the contacts. In the new mail window (form) are you clicking on To or CC which should open up your contacts list in a new little window.
Does it show in Outbox before it goes? Do people get them? You may have more than one sent folder eg sent items or sent.

Outlook 2010
Win 7 Pro 64 bit

Each email account has a .PST file.
"personal" / .PST files were created for archiving
Outlook created an Outlook.pst

Can someone confirm that Outlook.pst contains the contact list?
Note: In the account settings tab "Data File" outlook.pst is the only file that has a checkmark (default?) beside it.

The following link states contacts are stored in "Outlook Data File (.pst)".
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/where-does-microsoft-outlook-2010-save-my-information-and-configurations-HP010354943.aspx

Answer:which pst file stores the contacts in Outlook 2010

Contacts can be stored in EACH PST file that you use, so if you have multiple email accounts, each with its own PST, then you can have contacts in each PST file.

When adding a new contact (depending on how you add it), it will be stored in the Default data file (the one with the tick as you mentioned), or the one for the account you are using.,

If you look at the contacts on the bottom on the navigation pane (left), you will see several lists of contacts.

If each account shares a single PST file then all contacts will be in that PST file.

Saw this post in 2008 but couldn't find the answer.

I have a few contacts that I can't find in any VIEW in my contacts folder. If I think of some obscure piece of information (not the first name or last name, but perhaps something within their email address), I can get to them through the search contacts feature - so I know the contact exists.

There's one in particular that I THOUGHT I actually recreated thinking it was a record problem... is it a data problem?

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Answer:Some contacts hidden/invisible in Outlook (2010)

There's a new view in 2010 - "Suggested Contacts" Apparently when I searched contacts, something could make it pop up. I found the invisible contact in Suggested Contacts, moved it over and all is good...

Thank you!

Hello, I recently deleted a very old account in my co-worker's Outlook. There were no emails in the folder, and I thought it was safe to delete because it hasnt' been used in years. However, it seems that when I deleted this account it also deleted all her contacts! I would like to first know how to fix it (I left the old .pst file on her desktop, so perhaps it's as simple as putting it back in the Outlook folder), and second I'd like to know how/why the contacts were saving to an account that wasn't being used.

Hi there,

I wondered if someone could please offer me a little advice about a problem I’ve been having for a number of weeks.

I have a Yahoo Mail account and recently received a message from my service provider informing me that the security of my account had been compromised and that I should run a system scan and change my password.

I ran a system scan right away and changed my password and I thought that this was the end of the issue.

Then in the last couple of weeks, I’ve been receiving numerous messages from ‘Mail Delivery System’ informing me:

‘Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender’

The thing is, I have NOT been sending the messages that are being returned to me – messages are being sent by someone (posing as me) to my contacts.

Some of these messages are actually getting through to my contacts, but a large majority are failing to get through and are being returned.

I have opened the ‘failed messages’ and I can see that whoever is sending these messages is also sending an attachment.  The attachment has MY FIRST NAME as the title (which concerns me a lot) and the file type is ‘.eml’ (which I believe may be a virus).

I have checked my ‘sent’ folder and there is NO record of these emails being sent.

I have tried changing my password 4 times, ran a boot-time scan with my Avast! Antivir... Read more

I had to reset my Windows Phone. During setup I have to enter a Microsoft account (I used my @Outlook.com account). After setup finishes I see that my emails and calendar are completely synced. Perfect. But people (contacts) are not and the app requests to add an account. When I try to add the @Outlook.com account I get a message that the account already exists.
When I go to Settings | Email + Account and I click on the existing Microsoft Account I see Content to sync: Email. There are no other options to sync calendar, contacts or tasks.
How can I get the contacts of my @Outlook.com account to sync on my WIndows 8 Phone?
Thanks

Hi all, trying to remotely help a friend (phone not physically with me). He is trying to export his contacts and all web suggestions say just go on live.com and export from there. Problem is I don't think he actually has a Microsoft account (at all). Would this be possible (certainly doesn't look like it's there in Settings>Accounts).
If that is the case, is there any other way to export these contacts?
Thanks
John

I'm installing Win 10 Pro Ver 1607 on a computer that previously ran Win 7 Pro. I installed Office 2010, including Outlook, and tried to import my contacts from a CSV file that I had created on another computer. After importing, there are no records in Contacts, and the import seems to be running for the last 2-3 hours (a bar of red lights keeps going across the screen when the Contacts window is open).  I cannot stop this import. So I have gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling Office. When I reinstalled Office (including Outlook), the program appeared to find the Account Settings that I had created previously, and I did not have to recreate the accounts.  Further, despite reinstalling (which involved a couple of reboots), the Outlook Contacts import process keeps on running.
How can I stop it?
Thanks.

Answer:Outlook 2010 importing contacts from CSV file keeps running

Well I got it to stop by doing a system restore, even though I got an error message when I ran the restore.

Hopefully, I'll be able to import the contacts using a new CSV file.

This is a story of two computers. The old one is a Dell and the replacement is an HP (also old - but works fine).
My Dell desktop quit working recently. Discussions on a hardware forum indicated possible motherboard failure. The Dell had two hard drives. The C Drive with the OS (Win 7) and Office 2010 (email with Outlook 2010) and the D Drive with all my personal files.
To make sure I preserved the hard drives I obtained an adapter, took the hard drives out, read them both with my laptop, so both drives are fine.
I located a used HP desktop from which its hard drive had been removed. I hooked up my D Drive to the HP and installed Windows 7 and Office 2010. All of my personal files remained intact.
I set up Outlook 2010 which automatically found my two email accounts but my address book and contacts list did not appear.
I still have my Dell's C Drive hooked to my laptop. The C Drive from my old Dell still has the Windows 7 OS and Office 2010.
I've located two places on the C Drive that appear to have Outlook files:
Users - Me - AppData - Local - Microsoft - Outlook
Users - Me - AppData - Roaming - Microsoft - Outlook
I don't know how to read those files, I don't know if my address book and contents are in there and, if they are, I have no idea how to retrieve them.
Even if they aren't in those folders they've got to be somewhere on the drive that has the OS and Office.
What do I do next?
Thanks.

Outlook 2010 has a weird behaviour.
About half of my personal contacts are listed in separated folders, although it should be a single "personal" file.
The indication reads "company none" (14 in one 28 in another)
I have no idea how to correct that, so I sort on telephone-numbers.
But that mixes up personal en company, which I prefer separated.

The same weird ting is about any company listed in a single phrase, instead of just a list of companies.

There is no way to merge them in a single folder. (Company or Personal)

If you for instance type something in the company-field, Outlook moves it to the company list.
If however you remove that company information, the contact is moved to the second personal file instead of the primary original personal list.

So why are their two files of the same thing "company none"?

If I ad a new contact it will be added to the second list "company none"?

I've done something odd to solve it.
Opened up every personal contact in sequence.
Added a random character in the company field, saved it, opened again and removed that character.
Than saved it and it was stored in the second personal (company none) list.
So with all the others and now it is one file as it should be.
No more "Company none" double folder.

But still, why is every company address listed as "company (1 item)" ?

I didn't see this posted before, so here goes. Outlook 2010 will create a new contacts list, called Suggested Contacts. If you have your contacts syncing to any smartphone, you'll notice all of these new contacts filling up your phone's contact list.

To disable it, follow the steps in this link:

Going round in circles and getting stuck! 1 You do not need to use a outlook.com or live.com email address for a Microsoft Account.
2 in the Microsoft account on your phone you only see the e-mail box because the calendar, contacts are automatically synced so you can not disable this. Only for your e-mail you can decide to sync or not to sync.
3 Now i am not sure what email you use for the outlook 2012 if this is the same as you use for the phone and pc the calendar and contacts should be synced. I you use a live.com or a outlook.com address for it then you could at this outlook.com/live.com account as separate "outlook account" on your phone (So not as a Microsoft Account because you only can use 1 Microsoft account on your phone)
4 If you use a live or outlook.com for outlook 2010 you also could use this as Microsoft Account.

I can only guess that the Account.equals() method in Windows' codebase looks like this:
{
return this.emailAddress == account.emailAddress;
}

A while back, I realized I no longer needed my Hotmail address, and set up my Microsoft account to use my G-mail address. This simplified things quite a lot for me. This is the account I use to log into Windows 8.
I just decided to try out the much-hated Mail app, and set up my G-mail account there. After some imperfectness, I thought about just removing it and using Chrome G-mail on its own. However, I ran into this:
They seem to falsely think that my G-mail account is the same as my Microsoft account, when in reality there's no reason I shouldn't be able to remove this. (Heck, it wasn't there 10 minutes ago) Any ideas? If this is a real bug, any way to submit it to Microsoft?

The problem is this.

Customer's version of Windows Xp Pro is now currupted. Not sure how, but every time we try to boot up, it freezes on MUP.SYS.
Basically, I am going to try to back up the data by slaving the drive on to another computer and drags the files accross that way.

Now the customer does have some important emials and email contacts on this computer. I am 90% sure he is using Outlook Express (he might be using OUTLOOK XP). I need to find out where Windows Xp hides the files that stores his emails and his contract list.

And after finding those files, how do I do about restoring them when I re-isntall his OS.

BTW, I am open to suggestions on MUP.SYS.

Does anyone know if iTunes will allow a sync between the device and multiple Outlook profiles?

I intend to install Office 2016 in my PC and unite everyting under this Outlook account i already have.
So the question is: how to copy the calendar in the old PST file to a new PST file, perfectly, without losing any events?
I do not intend to use this PST file itself because it has old emails and contacts, it will stay only as a backup; more than over, after installing Office and using my credentials, my contacts and email will be imported to the new PST file.
I'd like to ask also:
- if local Outlook 2016 will recreate folders and redirecting rules defined on outlook.com
- if i can create a professional office 365 Outlook Exchange account, resulting in a personal PST file and a professional email account based in Exchange.
Regards

I currently have a (free) gmail account. I use Microsoft Outlook (2010) to manage emails. I have an iphone and ipad that are linked to my gmail account. What I am trying to figure out is how to sync Outlook with gmail and therefore my iphone/ipad. Email already syncs but not contacts. I tried to download Google Apps Sync but apparently need a paid google biz account. When I tried to sign up for this it set me up with a new email address which I do not want. Is there a simpler way to do this? My goal is to update a contact in Outlook and have it automatically sync to gmail and then my iphone/ipad. Thanks - Katie

Answer:What is the best way to sync my contacts in Outlook to gmail account?

Hello kcolbert and welcome to Seven Forums.

Would Google Sync work for you?

Google Sync

Here's some more info about syncing Outlook contact to Gmail:

Google Groups

And this paid (not-for-free) 3rd party app may be worth the money.

Hi,
I have lumia 720. I have upgraded to 8.1. The contacts are not syncing from people(online). I am able to see the contacts when i login into people online. I
had an issue in updating to 8.1. So i went to Nokia care, They formatted and re-installed 8.1. When I go to email sync options, it only shows email sync option. I tried all the suggestions given in the forums. None of them worked out. Its really annoying.

Phone - Lumia 730, new purchase. Account was setup using the current Microsoft Live Account. The account syncs up with the phone but not all contacts are showing up in the phone - People Hub

Answer:Why am I unable to sync contacts with Microsoft Live account on my Windows 8 phone?

Check in the People Hub if it only shows contacts with a phone number.
Under "People" you see "contacts" and under "contacts" you see "show"
So tap on "show"
Good luck

i have troubles with my outlook 2010 contacts. The main problem is that there is no category view. I have categorized my 1000+ contacts; only one category appears in Current View. When I search for a contact, it brings up three copies of the same contact. Worst, it assigns some an extra category. I recently exported all the contacts into a csv file, deleted them from Outlook, edited the csv file carefully, and imported them back into Outlook. The Outlook file must be corrupt. Should I just start over, delete Outlook, reinstall it, make a new file from scratch, import the csv contacts file? Other ideas?

newcomer just looking for an answer to: how one forwards their outlook mail account to an aim.com mail account?

Answer:How does one forward their outlook mail account to an aim.com mail account?

There are no such things as Outlook mail accounts (in the context of your question anyway). Your mail account is on a server where Outlook fetches mail from.

The better way to set up mail forwarding is on the server. If you have some sort of a web interface or a shell account, then you may be able to set the forward address yourself. Otherwise, talk to the mail server administrator.

You can set up mail filtering rules in Outlook too, which say that whenever Outlook receives a new message, it will send it so somewhere else. This approach is very bad though, since you would have to have your Outlook running 24/7 to keep the forwarding ability.

In my Outlook 2010 I have set up a number of Contact Groups. I've named them A, B, C, D.............Z. In each one are the surnames of the recipients, e.g. in the A is Anderson, Addy, Apple, Adams, Aggenbach, etc., and likewise in B to Z. One of them (lets say the V's) have 35 addresses, and the A's have 6 addresses.

The problem I'm having is that when choosing the V Group (and some of the others), then when I click Send then it forever says Sending and never completes the task. So, it's impossible to send any other emails thereafter: they all then sit in the Outbox, waiting for the V task to finish. When I close and then re-open Outlook it just continues to send. I then have to delete some of the V recipients, until there are about 5 or so only, then it's works OK. Could the problem be, amongst others, the size in kB of the V Group, perhaps?

Please help!

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2010 unable to send contacts in distribution list successfully.

Just an idea, what email service are you using it with ?
is this a company exchange service or a home service
if home , and connected to one of the free mail providers (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc)
perhaps there is a spam limit put on the number of email address you can send out on 1 email

although , I would expect 35 addresses to be OK
Gmail is 99

I have several e-mail accounts and use Live Mail (2011) to handle them.
Two of my accounts are associated with my own web-address via 1and 1.co.uk and two are outlook.com ones. When a message is sent to either of the accounts associated with my web address they are received correctly but also appear to be forwarded to one of my outlook accounts.
How do I avoid this?

Answer:Messages from one e-mail account being forwarded to an outlook.com account

On my web address I have set it to forward it to my home address - look at your web setting to see if you have set this facility up.

Hi,Recently re-installed Windows XP (Home Ed), which was a newer version of what was originally on system. Wjen asked if I wanted to format drives, I selectd no - keep current file system in tact. Now that it is up and running, nothing is actively installed! I installed a newer version of Office, but can't get hold of my old mail. All my old files appear to be there in Program Files on the old drive, just can't find the mail. I've done a search for *.pst files, but nothing comes up.I'm sure the data is there, how do I find it?Many thanks.... :-/

Answer:Retrieving old Outlook mail / contacts

Why are you sure the data is there? Even though you didn't reformat the drive, blank new files could have overwritten the old files. There are other dangers in just doing a dirty over the top install  beyond keeping previous problems. Does your search turn up ANY files with the extension you listed?

I imported my Contacts data from Outlook 2000 to Outlook XP and am trying to use the contacts to address e-mail messages. Some contacts with e-mail addresses will autofill (i.e., the e-mail address appears while I am typing the name) but others never appear, no matter what combinations of first & last names I try. One address even autofills although it isn't in my Contacts!

I haven't been able to find anything about this problem in the MS knowledge base.

Recently a customer of the company I work for did some upgrade to their system (not exactly sure what). The result is that when they send a mail containing a hyperlink to file on their website, the link doesn't work.
When you hover over the link you should get something like 'https//thiscompany.com/page.do?DOCID=123456'.
However, what we actually get on Outlook 2003 is 'outbind://39-00000000C176F3FF67E6754394476777057BDCA60700071475F5FEB9AC4FABB3D7C8EE9381620000007059

On mac mail it looks like this 'x-msg://24/thiscompany.com/page.do?DOCID=123456'.

The links work fine on Outlook 2010. Any idea what's happening here?

Hi,

Hopefully this is the right arena to post this thread in/under..
I recently purchased a AT&T branded Lumia 950, and running Production OS: 10.0.10586.164, and latest Firmware: 01078.00038.160025.39033, I'm having issues with Outlook.com email syncing and losing contacts in Outlook.com on the mobile device?

I only have two email accounts, Outlook.com and Gmail...all Gmail syncing of emails and contacts in fine, however Outlook.com takes time to sync, and loses contacts! I have done a lot of research...on this and see many 'Feedback issues' on this topic:
I have hard reset the device from a complete, clean install, and utilized the Windows Device Recovery Tool too...no Insider Program-either..still issues with Outlook.com syncing emails, but the contacts not syncing is quite troubling....I have not lost Outlook.com contacts like others have reported! I keep a relatively small, very clean contact list...all Gmail account contacts are fine as is syncing..

I reviewed where another Lumia 950XL user chatted with MS Customer Support and they suggested to create a new Microsoft account.....then sync all info, contacts, OneDrive, Skype, People app, however Microsoft accounts can not be merged.. I have a @MSN.com------>as my Primary alias, with a Outlook.com alias, but see no way to create a new Microsoft account, without losing everything....

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated....and apologies if indeed this thread is in the wrong category..

Answer:Windows 10 Mobile Syncing Issues With Outlook Account Emails/Contacts

Well, I see that the People app was updated yesterday for both Windows 10 PC and Mobile 10...syncing now seems better, however a couple of contacts (Outlook.com account) still do not sync/show up from my PC to my Lumia 950...no biggie as I just can't afford to lose a ton of info:
All Microsoft services, Office 2016, Skype, OneDrive, Contacts..so I will deal with it...lol!

'Note

If you remove an alias from an EASI account, that address will immediately become available to anyone else who wants to use it.

If you remove an @Hotmail or an @MSN email address, it cannot be recovered. '

Just for 'peace-of-mind', I have contacted MS Support (as they will have access to sensitive account information, and report back here when I receive a answer...lol
