Increase font size in Edge?

Question: Increase font size in Edge?

Does anyone know of a way to enlarge the fonts on the tabs and favorites bar items? The old eyes are not what they were, and I'd like to bump up the size if it's possible. A registry entry? Anything?

TIA

Preferred Solution: Increase font size in Edge?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Increase font size in Edge?

I haven't found one and have a similar problem with Chrome.

Wow! I've just discovered another reason to hate Windows 10. I cannot adjust the font size in Windows 10. I don't want the apps, icons or anything but the fonts adjusted. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE FONTS.
Who but the very young and inexperienced and inconsiderate designers and programmers would think how cool it would be to have to read text in 9 pts?
Does anyone know of a 3rd party program that would make this possible? Obviously MS doesn't care enough about it's customers to be responsive.

Answer:I need to be able to read the text, how to increase font size in Windows 10, only the font

The following method may not be exactly what you are asking.
To me, it's better than installing another 3rd party program just for that.
If you are using a moue with the wheel at the top :
Press the CTRL key and HOLD it > roll the wheel to increase or decrease text size.
Clockwise is to decrease the size.
Counter-clockwise is to increase the size.

Hi, I recently upgraded to Windows 10. I'm having some great difficulty in upsizing the default font size. I've tried changing the font size, but I'm only afforded the option to increase it to 24 (which the current font size is not). Apart from changing a file in regedit to change the default font which I learned from this link; http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/ch...ont-windows-10 , I don't know what might be the culprit behind this problem. I have tried upsizing to 125%-150% but some applications look blurry as a result. I would prefer to increase the font size and nothing else. Any suggestions?

Answer:Cannot change Windows 10 font size with text size increase

I think the culprit is likely my mod to regedit. Unfortunately, I did not save a back up. Would anybody know how to undo this change to regedit after implemented?

I need larger fonts in every window and Microsoft program.

I have the display set to medium. I hesitate to go to Large because I don't need anything but fonts to be larger.
Under Control Panel > Personalization > I click on Window Color to go to Advanced Appearance Settings

I've already increased every available option to 18 pt font. For instance, Active Title Bar is set to 18pt font and I can see these fonts just fine.

However, just looking at this window (the Advanced Appearance Settings window) the "tab" that reads Window Color and Appearance, has a very small font.
Another few examples:
I'm in Excel 2010. The font across the ribbon is fine. The zoom is set high enough in the worksheet. But when I click on Sort & Filter, then Custom Sort, the window that pops up is displayed back in small fonts so I can't read the choices.
Also in Excel 2010, I choose the Paste Special window and the options displayed in this window are of small font too.
In Word 2010, I click on the Page Setup window and the fonts are small.
I clock on My Computer and the fonts around various drives listed certainly aren't set to 18.
In Control Panel the various fonts for each option are definitely not at 18pt.
The date and time in the bottom right-hand corner are very tiny.
The words description each icon on my desktop are small.

I have a 32" high definition monitor with resolution set to 1920 x 1080 because that is the recommended setting for high res.

Answer:Increase font size in secondary windows

Welcome to Seven Forums msdclark. As far as I am aware, there is no way to change just the font size universally. You already have done the suggested method. The overall displays are most affected by the screen resolution, and DPI (which affects everything, as you have seen. You can change font sizes in Office apps, if that helps

Change or set the default font - Word

You can increase everything, then use the Ctrl keyboard button and the mouse wheel to decrease icon size. It's not what you seek, but you'll have to find workarounds. A Guy

Not sure if this would help enough but you could try the following:

1. Click on the Start button to get the new Windows UI
2. Start typing "font" (without quotes)
3. Click on "Settings"
4. Click on "Make everything on your screen bigger"; this opens PC settings (which is different from the classic Configuration Screen)
5. Set "Make everything on your screen bigger" to On.

Hi, You may try this: Hold down the Ctrl key and press + (plus) sign few times (press minus sign will make text smaller). OR you can use these steps: To make the text on your screen larger or smallerOpen Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.Choose one of the following:Smaller - 100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal size.Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items to 125% of normal size.Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.Click Apply. To see the change, close all of your programs and then log off of Windows. This change will take effect the next time you log on.Regards.

Answer:Increase Font Size In Acrobat Reader

Acrobat "documents" are images rather than documents in the ordinary sense. Reading them requires optical character recognition in both the software and the humans. They contain no fonts in the usual sense. The only way to increase the print size is to edit them in Adobe Acrobat full version, or zoom in on the entire document and make everything bigger.

I have an HP Pavillion also, (a dv5t) and don't have this problem, however, here are the touchpad customizations. Try re-setting them, and maybe that will help. (I've put in how I set mine. You, of course, will set yours however you prefer them). If this doesn't help, try the Font settings below the Mouse/Touchpad setings:

Right click: Desktop to open Personalize
Select: Mouse Pointers

Go to: Button configuration
Devices: Synaptics TouchPad V6..5 on PS/2 Port
Select: Right Handed
Double Click Speed: Set slider to slow - slowest ( if too fast, double clicks won?t open files)

Pointers:

Customize: Select other symbols and icons i.e. busy symbol, etc.

This may be the way to do it:

2. Click Internet Options
3. From Internet Options window click Accessibility button
4. Check box Ignore font styles specified on Web pages
5. Click OK
6. Click Fonts button and select the font you want

Also in the changelog for ver. 3.6 (looks like they are up to 3.6.5) I see this:

New "Choose Text Size" option for Internet Explorer publications (and new AllowModifyTextSize property in User Interface): you can let your users increase or decrease the default font size in pages.

Hi there
Any "tinkerers" or customisation gurus out there.

On a laptop even with a decent size screen is there any way to increase the font size of text of applications installed via "classic windows install" such as Office / photoshop etc. (Not Metro apps).

On those smaller but absolutely stunning "Ultrabooks" the text becomes quite hard to read too - if you increase the font size "globally" in windows then you have problems with some screens not fitting properly - so I just want to increase the text within the tiles.

enc magnified screenshot of a typical tile -- even here the text is relatively small .

Anybody out there !!

Hello, I have a friend who is starting to lose his sight, and is having trouble reading the text on the sidebar in Windows Explorer. Is there any way to increase the font displayed, other than decreasing the resolution?

Here is what I am referring to

Thanks!

-nka

Answer:Increase font size Windows Explorer Folder Task pane

Have you thought about increasing font size globally? Right click anywhere on the desktop, pick properties, then go to the appearances tab. For font size pick large or extra-large. You may have to reboot.
Also you can use the magnifier tool in Windows to see parts of the screen. Go to start, program, accessories, accessiblity, magnifier. If your friend ends up using it often, go to that same spot in the start menu, right click on magnifier and pick copy. Then go to the desktop, right click, and pick paste.

P.S: Just a technicality: your screenshot shows the "common tasks bar" aka "places bar". The "Windows sidebar" is actually a feature in Windows Vista, which you can see here http://tech2.in.com/media/images/img...ta_sidebar.jpg (it's on the right; it's transparent, so you can't see it, but it's definitely a bar).

In the last day or two, I noticed that the font size and style on the vast majority of websites that I visit has been changed, and it's not a good change! It looks like Times New Roman now, and though I don't know what the font style was before, I know it wasn't this. Also, I have no idea what a typical web font size is, but it seems that the size now is probably somewhere in the 8-10 point range.

Nothing has changed in my settings that I'm aware of - at least I'm not the one that made any change. I currently have zoom to 250% which is what is recommended for this Dell XPS 13. That's what it's always been set at, and everything looked fine before.

Almost everything from Google, to Facebook, to my Feedly feed - you name it - is displaying this new font style and size. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there some way for me to change it back?

When I previewed this post, the screenshots I've attached don't seem to illustrate what I'm talking about. In fact, it looks fairly normal. I suppose it's being zoomed in the screenshot, but trust me, it's much smaller on my screen.

Regardless, if you have any advice, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks.

Answer:Microsoft Edge font size and style changed for some reason

I have seen exactly this (although I'm not 100% sure the font was the same it certainly changed). It can be fixed by making another account.

Another option to fix this and other weird Edge behavior (for example here) is to delete the following directory (instead of creating new user):

%USERPROFILE%\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

Note just clearing the cache doesn't work - from various tests it seems to be the actual counters.dat file causing the problems.

As counters.dat file is locked you need to change the value of the key Cache at "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" to something else (for example %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\Temp). The folder is recreated automatically in the location specified on the key when you reboot.

Next, reboot, delete the old INetCache folder in %appdata% and change the key back to how it is in the picture.

Reboot again and a clean INetCache will be created in %appdata% and you can delete your (hidden) temp file.

Hi, I've the IdeaCentre AIO 700 24-ish and as I have seen and read all over the net, there are issues with tiny fonts, etc on some programs, apps, etc. I have seen many issues relating to that and have the problem myself. I have Gimp, Inkspace and a couple other open design programs ( no need to bash them ) on it now to test out - and the fonts and icons are so tiny I cannot see what I am doing. Same with Avira and a couple other programs and apps. Can read it if I use a magnifying glass.  I have done all the right adjustments, etc and it never changes. I know the desktop is not designed for a designer/artist, per say, but I am and have this one.
I've both read and been told it's an issue with the software and app creators/developers not being on the same page and unless and until they are, the tiny fonts and icons on some things just have to remain. The icons on Gimp for my tools of about 20, could all fit on a square the size of a sugar cube. My question is, is that, in fact, an issue with no resolve ...or not? I am about to begin a home design business and would like to perhaps get Adobe Illustrator, but to spend the money and have tiny fonts and icons would be a crapfest for me. I bought the desktop a year ago having been told it was superior for design programs from Best Buy and investigations showed nothing otherwise and just actually relocated and am using it finally....and I find myself in Micro Icon Park in the middle of Tinyfontville.

I finally gave up on Yahoo for my email as I got tired of the slowness, re-appearance of deleted emails, non-delivery of emails, etc.,  So, back to AOL and I set a Signature when I first set it up, however, now that I am a little more familiar with it I would like to set the font and font size and a few other settings, however, every time I make these changes and hit the SAVE, AOL tells me that my signature is too long or too big.  I used a smaller size font, still told me it was too big or too long;  shortened it to 3 little words, still wouldn't work.  Finally, I eliminated the Signature all together, made all my other changes, clicked SAVE and got the same message that the Signature was too big or too long and it wouldn't accept the other changes until the Signature was taken care of.  Has anyone else had this problem with AOL settings?  I just get tired of having to set the font to a 12 or 14pt every time I write an email.  Thank you,

Does anyone know how to change the font size permanently?

Answer:Changing default font and font size on hotmail

You may use your personal e-mail signature to choose default font in windows live hotmail...

In the options menu, select "more options" and then "personal e-mail signature". Choose the desired font style, size and color and type the phrase "text here". Save changes.

Now all you have to do, when writing a new message or a reply is highlight the phrase "text here" and start typing. It's that simple!

Answer:Screen resolution, Text Size. Browsers Small size font.

hi Tuberoses,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

I tried looking around and I found this from Microsoft Website. You can give it a try.Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Make the text on your screen larger or smaller

You can make the text (and other things like icons) larger without changing the screen resolution of your monitor or laptop screen. That way, you can make text easier to see and still keep your monitor or laptop set to the best possible resolution.

Open Screen Resolution by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Display in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Display.

Choose one of the following:
Smaller - 100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal size.

Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items to 125% of normal size.

Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.

Tap or click Apply.
To see the new text size, close all of your apps, and then sign out of Windows. The change will take effect the next time you sign in.
Also, you can change the text size for specific items in Windows, like window title bars or tooltips, without changing the size of anything else on the screen.

Im not sure if I correctly understand the question, but if you are trying to change the icon size on the desktop try this.
Press control, and move your scroll wheel up and down, just like you would for text size in explorer.

Hopefully that helps.

The 1st link (above) is the screen capture of my old PC that run under win 7 pro, 32 bit. At Display Size Medium 125%, I notice that the icons on the task bar is quite small, which is what I have all these years, and the font size/ image size of software like excel is just right.

move on to win 7 pro 64 bit on my new PC, the icons on the task bar is bigger, but at 125%, the font and icons on software like Excel is too big, and icons on software such as excel is blur due to its size.

Is there anything I can do to make them the way I used to have it in the 32 bit ver.?

Answer:Win 7 task bar icon size / font size different btwn. 32 bit vs. 64 bit

Are you sure you're not using the large taskbar icons on the 64bit version? Scaling shouldn't have been different between the two.

Windows 10.

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

Hello

I'm not sure what has happened but I went to create a system restore point earlier today only to find that the box where you type the description has shrunk down to an unreadable size as you can see below

Other programs don't seem to be affected, ie when naming/renaming files or installing programs into custom locations font size is normal. I don't know if it is only system restore that has this problem but it's the only program i've come across that is suffering.

Any ideas what has gone wrong or more importantly how to resize the type box so I can at least see what i'm typing?

Running win XP pro/SP3

Hello,

I wondering if anyone can help me with this. When I receive new mail messages (forwards or not) sometimes the fonts are to small for me to read. What I've been doing is copying/pasting into Word, but that's a waste of time. I'm fairly new to Outlook 2007, but I can't see a way to increase the font within a new mail message. If I'm sending mail I have the option, but for some reason it's not where I need it, that I can find. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Answer:Font Increase in Outlook 2007

The sender has sent the message to you with these size fonts.
You can view all your messages in plan text though (instead of Rich Text Format) but then you will lose any other font style too.

Look through the settings of Outlook to change to plain text, or contact the sender back, and ask for a larger font size in new messages.

Anyone have a solution for this. You are on a webpage with a document you want to print. Let's say it's a killer pasta recipe. But you want to up the font size a notch or two. In IE or Firefox you can use ctrl+ to increase font size, but that only impacts what's on the screen. If you print with ctrl P you still get original font. The only way I know is to cut/past desired text into a dummy email (or Word doc), massage the font as desired, then print. BUT, I'm trying to dumb the process down for a marginally computer literate neighbor. Also, often when I print a given page, it comes out blank except for the peripheral stuff around the edges. That is, the main content of the page is blank like it's got a "print block" enabled. Does such a thing exist where the author does not want the content printed?
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Eric.

For example if I want to update my Symantic AntiVirus or Install a new program, the Box that opens is either too big or too small and font size too.

Answer:Font size and Pop Up boz size too big or too small - Please help

Hi Muneeb and welcome to TSF !

You could give system restore a try : start => all programs => accessories => system tools => system restore. Select a date in bold prior to when the problem began. You won't lose any personal data but you may need to reinstall any program or update you've installed since then.

Else the system file checker can restore your system fonts. You'll need an XP install CD with service pack 2 (XP Home SP2 or XP Pro SP2 depending on the version you have installed). If your current CD hasn't got service pack 2 then you need to create a slipstreamed CD with SP2. Use one of these guides and report once you have an XP SP2 install CD :

I have a small 11.6 tablet with full HD (1920:1080) resolution.
The "system" font, like in the start menu, notification area, apps (Mail), etc., is ridiculously tiny, even on a 150% (recommended) scaling.
I have to set scaling to 200%, to get a comfortable size, but this sometimes hides buttons/elements from other programs.
Increasing font size only, doesn't seem to have any effect to the "Metro part" of Windows 10, fonts keep microscopic tiny.
Is there any "mod or hack", e.g. registry tweaking, to just increase the font size for the "Metro part" of Windows 10?

Hi.
I was planning on doing a fresh Windows 8 install on my ASUS N53Jq, with all the necessary/recommended drivers/software on an external flash drive. And I was wondering if it would be possible to up the size of my OS partition? (C) Because it's only 149GB, and the apps I need to install there are quite huge (office, vegas, premiere, photoshop, illustrator, corel, etc.)

But before I do it, I also wanted to know if there's any advantage in having two partitions (OS and DATA, on my laptop). Does it decrease performance, since it makes the disk read stuff back and forth? Maybe I should just stick with only one partition for everything, is that better or worse?

Sorry for all the questions, I wanted to ground myself better with this:
- what free software can I use?
- Do I change partition sizes before or after the fresh Windows 8 install?

Answer:How to increase size of a partition?

Ah, you again.

For a conventional HDD it does not impact performance (Cannot speak for SSDs as I never had a big enough one to be worth partitioning). I have a 320 GB HDD partitioned with a C of 100 GB and the rest in D.

You can install stuff to any partition and it will work fine. I have bulk of games and programs in D.

I personally think it's better this way because you are sure that the system files remain confined in the faster areas of the disk (the closer to the beginning of it the better), and because it helps dramatically reduce the disk check and defrag downtimes (as to run a good disk check and defrag of C your PC is not usable until it has finished, while non-system drives can be checked and defragged while the PC is in use, although a disk check will prevent the use of programs installed on the checked partition anyway)

There is nothing wrong in having 3 or even 4 different partitions if you want to keep installed stuff separate from dumb data, but I think a two-partition setup is best.
C at less than 100 GB with system and critical apps (internet, office, odds and ends)
D at whatever else with non-critical apps (games) and other random stuff.

Note, D is set as logical partition, not primary partition. Technically if you have the 100 MB "system reserved" partition you can turn C into a logical partition as well, as you can only have 4 primary partitions per MBR disk (any HDD with less than 2 TB is a MBR one) but any number of logical partitions you... Windows disk management inbuilt tools i believe will only let you extend to space directly next to the desired partition if you want to add the unallocated space to C you will need to use 3rd party software like partition magic

I have a D drive(No C for some reason) and a partion called E drive referred to as a swap file ,this contains my system files. My problem is, that when trying to download say,a windows update or download Windows Media Player I "run out of disk space" because everything wants to park itself in the E partition file. The D drive, where I would like things to be downloaded has 60 gb free space but the E drive has only 25 mb free. How can I either move my system files to D drive(assuming I am not overreaching myself) or increase the size of the E partion swap file, if the move to D drive is impractical.

Answer:Can I increase partition size?
