Question: Password Alert (by Google) for Chrome

** Password Alert requires that passwords have at least eight characters.

Password Alert helps protect against phishing attacks.
If you enter your Gmail or Google for Work password into anywhere other than accounts.google.com, you?ll receive an alert, so you can change your password if needed.

Password Alert also tries to detect fake Google sign-in pages to alert you before you?ve typed in your password. To do so, Password Alert checks the HTML of each page you visit to see if it?s impersonating a Google sign-in page.

Preferred Solution: Password Alert (by Google) for Chrome

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The Password Alert extension for Google Chrome had been bypassed by a simple exploit, just 24 hours after Google had rolled out the Chrome plugin.
Within hours of publication, Google issued an update that blocked the exploit.
Now the same researcher has figured out a way to block the new version, too. Full read.

Hi

I frequently use i a website called https://www.lectio.dk/lectio/133/forside.aspx. It is a website where i can see what lessons i have the next 2 days and see my homework and such. To get acces to the information i need a login, which i easily can remember. The problem is that i would prefer just to be able to click login when i come to the website, but it does not ask to save username and password

I have checked if the website is listed in the "never save"-list in options, and it is not there. I have never been asked to save the username and password.

PS. the website is in Danish.

Answer:Google Chrome not asking to save password

Go to the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button, which looks like a wrench (on the right hand side of the window)> Options > on the left hand side click on Personal Stuff and click on offer to save Password. Let me know if this helps :)

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

I use Windows 7 Home (64 bit). When I first started using Google Chrome and I logged on to various sites a question would pop up at the top of the page asking me if I wanted to save this log in. I normally clicked yes.
This question has stopped appearing and only some of the web sites auto log in.
Can anyone please tell me how to get this facility back.
Thank you.

Chrome settings - advanced settings and under privacy check that enable autofill and offer to save passwords are checked.

Google Chrome, just like any other modern web browser, offers to store passwords that you enter while using it to improve future access to websites or services on the Internet.

Instead of having to enter the username and password manually each time you delete cookies or sign out, you can use features provided by the browser to fill out the values automatically for you.

That's very comfortable and used by many, especially since it is a feature that is set to on by default.

Unlike Firefox, Chrome did not offer any protection whatsoever for stored usernames and passwords in the browser. Some users saw this as a blatant security risks, while others and Google were quick to point out that local system access was needed to access the data.

There are obviously situations where you may allow someone to access your computer, be it child, friend or business colleague. The chance that they may access the storage may be slim, especially if you are nearby, but it is definitely possible that someone with enough knowledge of Chrome would quickly use an opportunity to look up passwords in the browser.Click to expand...

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

Hello,

I'm trying to repair my parents computer. They were getting Trojan horse warning messages and crashing to blue screens. So far I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled all the browser addons and questionable apps I found on there PC. Since updating the BIOS it hasn't crashed to blue screen. However I'm getting a lot of lywqyjla.exe processes that say they belong to Google Chrome. I uninstalled Google Chrome and they are still there. Each of them is using varying amounts of memory and the CPU usage keeps spiking. I have run malware bytes and adw cleaner, each of them said they found and removed threats but these processes keep showing up.

I've tried multiple anti-everything programs from Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, Spybot S&D, and various online scans that have found nothing, or found something but never fully cleaned my system. For a week or two, Google was being redirected to various ad sites, but after my system was "cleaned" everything was fine. Now today, anything remotely related to Google won't load at all. I've tried to manually remove the TDSS google-redirecting virus, but I have none of the files that supposedly come along with the virus.

An install of Google Crhome browser is apparantly recording cookies while the Google Chrome browser itself is not being used;  the cookies seem to be of webpages and sites that other people in this location visit through another browser.  This makes me thing that the Google Chrome browser sneaks information from the user of other browsers on the computer, and this makes me wonder, what more is being done with this set of cookies lifted from the other browser?

This cannot be normal; is it?

Every day, I come to the particular computer with google chrome on it, open history, see the cookies listed, delete them, and only use the browser in Incognito mode.  No cookies recorded during any of my usage sessions.  Later, after other people who never use Chrome use the computer, go online (with Internet Explorer), makes their website visits, and then finish; when I come back to use the computer again and go online in incognito mode on Chrome, ... there again are more cookies listed, and mostly from sites that I did not visit.

This just seems like it should not be happening.  Tell me about it?

IE 11, Firefox 33, Google Chrome 38
Norton 360;
Windows 7.

Chrome OS is not taking off as Google might have wanted, but the company is not slowing down on development. To get more people to get into the world of Chrome OS, Google has come up with a rather impressive plan. Apparently, the search giant is working on a version of the Chrome web browser that replicates functions of Chrome OS right inside Windows 8.

According to The Verge, the latest developer version of Chrome browser for Windows 8 can be configured to run in Metro (Modern UI). However, the browser is suffering from several bugs so Metro mode doesn?t perform well enough and there are frequent crashes. More important than that, however, is that this new version of Chrome browser brings to the table Chrome OS design, Chrome app launcher, Google app menu bar and support for windows within windows. In other words, the stepping stones for Chrome OS in Windows 8, and a major coup by Google.

Hello,

As noted above, I'm currently having problems with a process that is being detected as Gooogle Chrome taking up most of the resources on my system. This, even though I don't have Chrome installed on my computer. I've tried deleting the file, but it just pops up somewhere else.

I ran FRST and have attached the resulting reports to this thread. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I have many "Google Chrome" processes running (jthzgxbastyz.exe *32), but I don’t have Chrome installed on this computer. I have tried to run Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes anti-root, MacAfee root kit, and several others. Anything I try to open, never actually opens. I ran DDS, but it doesn’t look like its accessing the file system. I am an administrator on this computer, but when I attempt to download anything now from Internet Explorer, I get a Security Alert " Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." I reset IE and it allows me to download the programs, but I still can’t run them. Hope this helps! Seems like I have a full blown infestation. L

I noticed a lat jump after updating adobe. I checked my processes and there is a ton of Google Chrome Processes running. I did not have chrome loaded at that time. I have win 7. I have run bitfinder and it finds nothing wrong. I try ending them but they launch right back up. Bitfinder has found 430 infected web resource detected just today but it blocks it and says computer is safe.

Computer crashes on startup fairly often - I've always thought it was due to running 4 monitors but it is getting more regular. Checked Task Manager this morning and found 11 instances of Google Chrome running before I even opened the browser.
After googling and reading several threads it appears there is some sort of mutating virus on my system. It does not appear that there is a standard anti-virus fix (yet) and I'm fairly basic in my computer tech skills. I got directed to this site from a few others hence I'm here seeking some help.

I've followed the 3 steps and uploaded the 2 files as directed

Any help would be much appreciated

PS I run avast (free) as real time protection and I ran Malwarebytes this morning that picked up nothing.

My computer is running Windows 7.

About a week ago, I started getting messages saying "Google Chrome has crashed" when Google Chrome was not open. When I opened task manager, many Google Chrome processes under the same name were running. To try to fix the problem, I uninstalled Google Chrome, but the processes are still running.

Right now there are about 15 processes named "dlxyoesklw.exe *32" with the description "Google Chrome" in the task manager. The number of running processes changed frequently, and there are sometimes more than 30 running, all using various amounts of memory. When I press "End Process," more processes just appear.

If I press "Open File Location," it now takes me to C:\Users\Owner\AppData\LocalLow\EmieBrowserModeList\igsqvescqy\mwqvrxfk
If I try to delete the .exe file, it says "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Google Chrome. Close the file and try again" but of course Google Chrome is uninstalled.

Twice I have tried to delete the whole folder by restarting the computer and quickly deleting it before the processes launched. This did not work, as the processes still appeared after the file was deleted, and the folder relocated to a new one under \AppData\LocalLow\
The folder used to be in \AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\ before it relocated.

I have G Data TotalSecurity 2014 installed but it did not find anything.

This behavior is very suspicious. What should I... Read more

Whenever I open Google Chrome the first time after I finish booting my computer, it hangs for three seconds, during that time I see a wild amount of solid flashing on my hard-drive light indicator.

Upon looking on my task manager, I see 4 Chrome processes running, one of which seems to be causing a'lot of activity on one of the hard-drives. After a said few seconds the process disappears leaving only three processes and no hard-drive activity.

Is there anyway of stopping this kind of strange hard-drive activity when 'm opening chrome? I'm afraid the repeat thrashing might cause my hard-drive to wear out prematurely.

If anyone can help, please respond.

Thank you in advance.

The new bookmark manager does not allow choice of where to place new bookmarks, it is auto based on content and tags of site. Also, default is to show "Tiles" when bookmark manager is opened.

For the past few days when I open up Google Chrome I get a white page with a yellow ribbon at the top that says "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" and then an option to "restore" which only brings me to a new tab page.
I have looked for solutions and have tried going into appdata and changing my "Default" folder into "Default_old" then closing down Chrome and opening it again but that doesn't work (and I don't get another "Default" folder as the instructions says I should). I have tried disabling my extensions (of which pretty much all of them are ad blockers) and apps. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome but so far nothing has worked. Am I just not doing these things correctly? Is there another way I can stop this? Because I would really love to open up Chrome and have my homepages there.

Thanks!

Last night, while working on some vhs to dvd videos, I got an alert saying "Google Chrome has crashed". I don't have chrome on my computer. I looked at my task manager, nothing was showing under applications running, aside from nero, but under processes, there are 8+ different things for chrome. (wiljgkxpsy.exe*.32).
I clicked on open folder and apparently the folder was created yesterday at 348pm. The files are hidden and are under: AppData/LocallowApple Computer/CNVCZPGV/MUQUVESC
I ran Microsoft Security and nothing was flagged. I also tried Malware. Nothing related to Chrome was found.

Also, my mouse pointer on the screen is still showing but also will show a round ball like it's waiting/processing something. This didn't happen until last night after the message about chrome crashing.
What can I do to get rid of this.
Please, any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool () by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/link-alert/eknafmldgjmnogakliocedghchbkdehb https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/link-alert/

'Link Alert' extensions on Chrome (and chromium forks), and too on Firefox (and FF forks) from independent developers - but with this same name, both very good , little indispensable extensions, I have!

On Chrome's extension page we read:
This extension displays an icon next to the cursor indicating the target of a link.
.. These days a link can take you just about anywhere. Wouldn't it be really handy if you had some indication of what you were clicking on? With Link Alert you do!
It'll highlight links with a little tooltip indicating where the link is likely to take you.
For example, links to PDFs show a small PDF icon in the tooltip, external links show an icon and you can even see which links aren't secure from secure pages.

You have the option to select which icons are shown as well as changing some aspects of the display of the tooltip, such as the background and border colours.

In Chrome extension, I ticked: Applications, JavaScript, Registry Files, Compressed Files, File, Java Server Pages.
- in Firefox extension, I notched: Applications, Javascript Files, RegEdit Files, ZIP Files, JavaScript Links.

Hi,I was recently infected with the Windows Repair bug and fixed (maybe its still there) it via one of the posts on the sites. So I'm thinking I might have had a couple of other infections that were dormant for a while or Malwarebytes or Symantec never noticed. After fixing that, I noticed Google Chrome stopped working. When I started googling in Firefox and IE i noticed the page would redirect. And then an the "Internet Explorer Script Error" with the URL pointing to apparent spam urls "http;//celebrity-gossip.net/ashley-tisdale..." as an example. So I updated and ran Malwarebytes AM, Symantec & Microsoft Defender to see what they would. Symantec found an bloodhound virus in an archived drive. And i cleaned whatever Malwarebytes found, forgot now since its been a 4 days.I've tried the TDDSkiller.exe and that wouldnt launch. I tried renaming it too, but nothing.I found another thread and tried cleaning with SuperAntiSpyware and Hitman.I don't remember the correct order I've ran these, but followed according to the threads, including safed mode, internet off, etc...Anyways, any help is appreciated. here is the log:.DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Mikael at 21:35:05.37 on Thu 04/07/2011Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_24Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2047.902 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition *Enabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}.===========... Hi! I am a heavy google search user who frequently uses google to: define ___, calculate equations etc.

But recently my google search results is changed to:

The top bar still appears perfectly normal when I am not in the search result page:

If it is related, bing has problem as well - it goes black screen:

The characteristics are:
One page itself:
- Words appear bigger
- It seems like I've log out but I am actually still logged in
- Google tips and tricks such as define, tilt etc all are not working
- Clicking "more" and "search tools" refresh the page and does nothing.
Others:
- In other places such as email, youtube, the functionality remains completely normal and unaffected
- I do not think the problem is related to the external internet settings as other devices are able to access these functions/websites without any problem.
- I have no problem accessing any other webpages.

Solutions tried and still not working:
- Completely reset google chrome's setting
- Reinstalling google chrome
- Resetting internet explorer setting
- Resetting computer's ip setting through cmd- netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
- Full scan with avast antivirus.

Any other ideas please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated as these tips and tricks are a truly useful function for me.

Answer:Google Chrome: Google Search Extra Functions (Tips) Not Working

I too have the exact same problem. i have tried hard for a month+ on 100s of sites with no avail. this probably is some super smart form of malware/virus which changes your IE's lan proxy settings to "127.0.0.1:8080.proxy.pac", this seems to affect chome and IE while firefox looks ok. the only "visible" difference is with the google main page as you described you'll also notice that at the bottom of the page, the number of page results are limited to 10 and no more, you just cant see more results than that. I couldnt find any any solid fix to this (not even complete reformat) The only temporary solution(till next reboot) seems to be to go to internet options in IE - connections tab - deselect that proxy setting and select automatically detect settings though i personally use hola better internet extension which seems to fix the problem till its kept on. I want this dreaded issue to get some attention so that am actual solution is found :/

It doesn?t matter what claims a software company makes, there?s one universal law of product design that continues to hold true ? nothing is unhackable.

That?s where Parisa Tabriz comes in, Google?s head of product security for the company?s Chrome browser. Ever since her entry into Google in 2007, the 34-year-old security expert and her team have detected countless bugs and loopholes in Chrome?s security system, patching them before they can be exploited by outside hackers. She was even featured on Forbes? 2012 ?Top 30 People Under 30 To Watch In the Technology Industry? list. It?s no wonder then that she?s earned herself the moniker of ?Security Princess? among both cyber security professionals and the media.

Calling themselves the ?Department of Chromeland Security? Tabriz and her team of 30 white hat hackers (security researchers who attempt to hack systems for good, as opposed to black hat hackers that breach software for personal gain or sport) are hard at work everyday to make Chrome the most safe browsing experience it can possibly be.

Hello,

Apologies if this has been previously addressed, but I couldn't find much by searching through the forums.

I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently hide/remove recently visited sites from the Google home page in the Chrome browser?

I have set Chrome to "Keep local data only until I quit my browser," and installed the Click & Clean extension from the Chrome Web Store and set it to "Delete private data when Chrome closes," (http://www.howtogeek.com/137681/how-to-automatically-clear-private-data-when-you-close-your-browser/) but neither of these actions are deleting those recently viewed sites from the Google home page.

Judging by the amount of complaints found through googling, there are a lot of people who hate this, so I'm hoping there's a work around out there that I just haven't found yet. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would sincerely appreciate it!

I'm running Mac OS X v. 10.6.8, and Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 (up to date at time of posting).

Answer:Google Chrome recently visited sites on google home page - permanently hide?

Has anyone successfully used Click & Clean for this purpose? :S

For a few days now, after getting one of those fake "antivirus" programs my Google Chrome browser is unable to open any pages. I can open them in IE and Firefox, but on those browsers any links I click typically get redirected to random advertisement websites rather than the page I'm trying to reach.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure that there are several threads like this, unfortunately the solutions I've attempted haven't been very useful for me. As of late I've been suffering from a google redirect virus. It hasn't actually been harmful at all. My computer still runs at optimal speeds and I still have phenomenal internet connection speeds.

The issue lies with both Google Chrome (I loved it until now...) and Firefox (second best browser). Whenever I try to perform a google search in either browser I'll get the desired results list. However when I click a link it redirects me to another site. When I flush the DNS or clear my browsing history it works fine temporarily, but then moments later it starts redirecting again. I've ran Piriforms CCleaner to remove cookies, I've ran CCleaner's registry fixer, I've also performed several scans on my computer both normally and with Windows in safe mode using Webroot Internet Security Essentials 7.0 and I'm still having issues. I'd like to be able to fix this so that I can stop using IE 8 x64 (beta) and my iPod for browsing the web now and get back to Chrome.

Don't know if this info helps but I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there. I've recent been having problems with Firefox/Google Chrome where my searches are being redirected to random sites when I click on the results. In addition the spellcheck function doesn't work if this searches are mistyped. I've tried several different programs with no success in fixing the matter. Among them are Dr. Web Cure it. As well as Malwarebytes which caused my computer to crash both times I tried using when it reached a file called zipfldr.dll

I've looked around at a couple sites but as nothing seems to be working I thought I'd give this a try. Any help would be apperciated, and it only seems to be affecting Firefox, and Chrome. Oh, and in addition to the redirect it's highlighting random phrases within the webpage with something called Clicksor, as well as the redirects going through something called 123bounce.

The current version Google Toobar 8 was a part of Google Toolbar Labs project. Google Toolbar Labs is the place to test the newest ideas and technologies for Google Toolbar. Labs toolbars may not be as full-featured or as stable as Google Toolbar, but they will be a cutting-edge way to try out new features, provide feedback, and help improve our product. Google Toolbar 8 for IE9 is actually built and runs on top of the Google Chrome Frame platform. This means that Toolbar 8 will run more like a web app in that it can be customized and updated much more frequently and easily. It also means that Google Chrome Frame is installed at the time of Toolbar 8 installation, and all the benefits of having Google Chrome Frame come along with it.
Since this is a brand new platform, not all Google Toolbar features are available. There are, however, a number of new features in Toolbar 8:
Google Instant
Google Dictionary
Most Visited Sites
The new toolbar can auto-update even while you are browsing, so you will get the latest version instantly without having to restart. If you are using Google Toolbar 8, you will be updated frequently so that we can fix bugs and add new features more quickly than on previous toolbars.

But testing is closed right now and if you try to download it you still get v6 I think. Toolbar 8 FAQ : Toolbar 8 (Labs) - Toolbar Help Google Toolbar Labs

Also IE will not open for use, it just opens as though its loading up and then a window comes up and says that IE is not working at this moment and microsoft will notify me if there is a solution. Hello to all,
I have installed google chrome and I really like it. However it has one major drawback. It remembers what I have typed in google search bar.
How can I disable this?
I have uncheck every option in "under the hood" settings, but that is not it.
These search items disappear only when I do clear browsing data. But on the second use when I want to type something in google search item filed or just click on it everything that I searched in the previous session (if not cleared explicitly) is shown in form of drop down list.
Internet explorer and firefox allowed me to turn this auto completion whenI wanted.
Is it really that difficult in chrome?

Thanks

Answer:Google chrome remembers what I typed in google search engine

I think you can only block the search history in Chrome by using private mode.

Wrench icon > New Incognito Window.

This will prevent any searches, downloads and websites appearing in your history, and will delete all cookies when you close the window.

So my problem is that when I try to login to my Google account on Google Chrome, the web page goes white and Chrome does not log in. The steps I took are as follows:

It starts on the regular Chrome login screen. (see attached picture #1)
I insert my password and press the 'Sign In' button.
It loads to a white screen. No loading, it is always finished every time I try. (see attached picture #2)

I don't know if this is relevant, but the app launcher also suffers from this malfunction and will not display any of my apps (see attached picture #3). There are no errors when starting Chrome, or opening the page. The page is just white for no reason. Nothing has ever gone wrong with Chrome (surprising, I know) and I really love it. It is fast and it looks sleek. It IS a RAM hog, but apparently my 2 GB ram laptop can handle it, so I'm happy. My opinions aside, I hope you can help me fix this.

Clean installed windows 10 last week and I'm now getting a few odd display issues. On occasion my google app launcher is not displaying properly, It is much too big. After opening and closing a few times it returns to normal size. The same thing happens with results in the search/address bar.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Okay, so I tried researching solutions to this- it's a problem others have had- but none of the solutions change anything. I have Windows 8.1, when I open a new tab in Chrome, I see the search bar in the middle of the page as always, but when I start typing my search, it immediately goes up to the address bar. Super annoying. PLEASE, if you know what to do, give me a simple step-by-step, not just "go to settings and change xyz." I've tried that........ugh.......thanks to anyone who can help!

Hi, tried to solve this on my own for several days with not much success.

Running Windows XP SP3.

The problem started with Google Chrome, it stopped working one evening. The browser is stuck on an infinite loading loop but works when the "--no-sandbox" argument is added to the command line. Internet explorer worked fine. I did some googling on the problem and apparently it's either some anti-virus or a virus.

Switched to Opera browser. Got infected with ave.exe "xp total security". Ran Super Anti-Spyware/Malware Bytes/AVG 9 to remove. Seemed to be removed but I'm still getting google search redirects in Opera.

Downloaded and ran TDSSKiller. In safe mode, it detects nothing. In standard mode it detects a problem with Atapi.sys. The message is something like.

"Problems in memory 1/0/0
"Problems in files 1/0/1"

However, after every reboot, it's the same message.

Downloaded Gmer today and tried to run, in standard mode Gmer would crash with a BSOD, the BSOD flashed quickly so I'm unable to see what the exception was. Currently I'm running Gmer in safe mode.

Could use some help.

Thanks.

Hi

I got infected by using Frostwire back on the 23rd/24th March, needless to say that is already removed!

Suspected something was wrong straight away scanned my laptop running windows 7 with the free anti virus that I had installed: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

It found various problems and removed them, detailed in the log attached.

All problems are gone apart from when searching using Google Chrome (don't use any other browser so only IE installed in addition), in IE doesn't happen, it redirects me all the time as per other threads in this area.

I then realised I coudl have installed a copy of Norton 360 on here as have 3 licenses, 2 to use still. So un-installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and installed 360. Scanned etc and still have this one lingering problem.

I have gone through and completed the following before posting:

General house cleaning:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=230267

Run & Read me First:
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Even tried using the points in this thread but no luck either
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=221915

Only program I can't run is RootRepeal errors out.

1st 4 uploaded files:
2 x Malware scans with infection finds all other subsequent ones ran found nothing
1 x Rootrepeal crash text
1 x SuperAntiSpyware log

Will attach the other next
Please help!
Thanks

Answer:Google Redirect malware in Google Chrome browser only

Combofix.txt
MGlogs.zip

Attached as well

Also ran Norton 360 full scan twice and found 16 tracking cookies in total nothing serious would attached logs but can't find them to attach. Doesn't say name or anything within Norton.

Everytime the redirect takes me to a 'bad' page Norton detects and attack and popups telling me its blocked it.

Let me know what else I can try
Many thanks in advance for your time

Google has added speech recognition into search on desktop for Chrome users. If you?re using Chrome, you?ll start to see a little microphone in every Google search box. Simply click the microphone, and you can speak your search. This can be particularly useful for hard-to-spell searches or complex searches. Voice Search on desktop is rolling out now on google.com in English.
I tested the image search - and it worked Official Google Blog: Knocking down barriers to knowledge

Source: Google Browser: Google Chrome And Chromium Download

I recently tried to download the latest version of the open source version of the Google browser called Chromium. A search on the Internet did not reveal a website with a download location in the first results. The only thing that came up was the build server of the Chromium project which listed all the builds of the web browser for download.

Answer:Google Browser: Google Chrome And Chromium Download

I didn't know Google lets you download the whole code for Chrome, that's pretty cool. I use Google Chrome and I like it. Lot faster than IE 7. It's a very good base for new web browsers if people are using it to work from.

Whenever I perform a Google search and click on a link I'm redirected to ad sites. Sometimes the address bar will popup with one and then will redirect again to a different ad site. I haven't noticed any pattern in the redirection or to any specific sites. Obviously I have no idea how to fix it. So, i recently upgraded from Internet Explorer to Google Chrome after a batch of virus problems that i FINALLY got removed from my computer and at the suggestion of many other people.

It worked fine for a week or two, then i noticed randomly it would decide that a website/page i was on either had too many cookies to load i'd get an "oh snap" this page isn't working because of "blah" error, (it had a little file folder with a angry face on it). usually closing the browser then opening it back up would fix the problem. Several times i'd have to go delete all the temp files/cookies etc for it to work right again.

Well tonight it started doing something even more weird, it wouldn't load anything.
Every site i tried to type up there in the http:// bar it would just forever be "searching" for the link then half of the time it would just say sorry "the page can not be displayed"

I tried going to google (my home page) typing in the site for instance "tech guys" and search, it would find a page full of websites, but when i clicked on the link (to any of the options) it would either a: pretend it was looking and just refresh the exact same search results page i was on, or be go into a forever loading process which usually resulted in it saying "the page can not be displayed." I used my phone to look up why this might be happening and people mentioned "disabling" the HTTP of which i had no id... Read more

I have uninstalled google chrome to try and free up some space on my computer and was going to use internet explorer instead but found that it doesnt quite do as much of what I wanted as google chrome.
When I tried to re-install google chrome it came up with a message saying 'Installation failed due to unspecified error. If google chrome is currently running, please close it and try again', I have tried the standalone offline installer aswell and found the same problem but all google programs are uninstalled on my computer. Because of this, I thought that it was some of the files to do with google that I may need to remove but when I try to delete the 'google' folder in 'C:\Program Files (x86)', it says that I need admin privelages when I am already logged on as the administrator.
I have tried to do everything that I can find on other websites and forum threads but nothing seems to work, my computer will not let me delete this folder at all.
Also, other people have said to change the ownership but whenever I change the ownership of the folder, windows says that I need permission from the other user account on the computer be it my admin account or the 'hidden admin' account.
Could anyone help me try to sort out this problem as it is really frustrating.

Answer:I Cannot Delete Google Folder Or Re-Install Google Chrome

Download and Run Revo Uninstaller to remove it.

Hello and let me go ahead and say thank you for your time! I don't know how much of the following is actually important, but I would rather be too detailed than not detailed enough; please forgive me.This happened two days ago, on November 25th. I browse with Google Chrome, my OS is Windows 7, and I use Avast! as my antivirus program. I was using StumbleUpon and it took me to an article on cracked.com, a site I've enjoyed many times with no problems. I was immediately redirected to some advertising site, you know the kind--lots of banners and text ads. I also got a few pop-ups. Before I could even react, the computer shut itself down. I booted it back up, and attempted to start Chrome again. The window where the web page would normally be was completely blank, there was no url in the url bar, and the loading circle that normally appears beside the tabs was not there. I don't think it froze or anything, my mouse icon stayed the same and the window didn't white out, but nothing worked. I tried to close it the regular way and couldn't, so I ended it through task manager. I tried to load it again, this time disabling the options to load the tabs I had open last session. I got the same results and again had to shut it down the same way. First I rebooted my computer, and tried to load up Chrome. Same results, so I shut it down with task manager. Next, I tried uninstalling. I went to the control panel, right-clicked Chrome on the list, and told it to remo... Read more

Frequently, not always, my up-to-date copy of Google Chrome fails to load Google Search. Particularly if I use the search/address bar, but even if I enter google.com. Other google sites load. In fact, when this happens, I just use the search web box in Gmail. Other sites have no problem loading and the computer is running fine. Other browsers (ie, firefox) never have a problem loading google.

Any ideas why this is happening? I ran through the malware removal guide months ago, but I'm going to do it again. I searched the boards and google and didn't find anything about this specific and weird problem.

Answer:Oh the irony - Google Chrome won't load Google Search

The only time I have ever had a problem getting the Chrome browser to load Google.com (both via address bar and bookmark) is when I'm on the Fedora Linux box. I just chalk it up to another one of the bajillion things that doesn't work right in Lamux. You get what you pay for. Were you, too, running Linux when you had this problem?

5 Google Chrome Extension For Google Services

The extension development for the Google Chrome browser is slowly taking up speed. While there is still no option to use extensions in the latest public release of the Google browser the developers are slowly improving the capabilities of the extensions manager. The latest dev builds of the web browser support extensions right out of the box without having to supply startup parameters as it was previously required. It is generally expected that extension development will really take off when the public releases of the browser start supporting extensions.
The chance is however relatively good that some developers have already created extensions for popular web services. This article will look at five Google Chrome extensions for popular Google web services including Gmail and Google Reader.

Hi,

I want to uninstall Google Updater, but I have Chrome installed. So, if I uninstall Google Updater, will Google Chrome still be able to update automatically by itself?

Slasher

Answer:Update Google Chrome without Google Updater?

---UPDATE--- (SOLVED)

Turns out the issue was due to the AV Program, after all. It seems it had attempted to remove/block a connection, but didn't do it properly. The connection would not appear in the list of blocked connection, however, an activity log displayed such an attempt. After removing the AV program, Chrome returned back to normal. My AV Program is not re-installed and all is well. Not sure if I should delete this post or leave it be for those who may face the same issue. I'll let the mods make that decision. Otherwise, thanks ya'll!

Dear BC Forums,

Just today, my Google Chrome decided it no longer wanted to access Google.com
This includes all Google related sites and services, including the "Sign In" used to login into my Google Account.
Google works fine on my other two browsers (FF and IE)

I do work as a PC Technician, so I exercised my knowledge as well as I could to fix the issue, but to no avail.

Things I have tried:

- Clearing Browsing Data/Temp & Resetting Settings for Chrome

- Accessing Google via IP (They all work, but can't access via domain name)

- Un-installing Chrome and re-install (I have used Revo Pro, but no change)

- Manual Removal of all Chrome related entries

- Dis-Abling AV Protection and Firewall (I use ESET Smart Security 5. No Chrome related blocking present)

Hi, I have read many many threads about this, but I still seem to have the redirect virus, the only thing is, it only seems to be affecting google chrome, and absolutely no malware program will find it, I have literally tried about 12 different programs.....

Also how likely is it that the redirect virus has infected my external/ network drives, thanks for your help in advance!

Answer:Google redirect virus but only in google chrome...

Go to the below link and follow the instructions for running TDSSKiller from Kaspersky
TDSSkiller - How to run
Be sure to attach your log from TDSSKiller

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop.

See the download links under this icon
Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:

Done! Press ENTER to exit...

Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:

Found non-standard or infected MBR.
Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:

Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Hi, I followed the Google Redirect sticky to no avail so I'm posting here. I had this Google Redirect virus removed from Firefox about a year ago. Recently decided to switch over to Chrome and it seems the virus is still on Chrome. Logs are attached. Thanks in advance to whoever helps me.

Answer:Google Redirect Virus: Google Chrome

Rerun Hitman and have it fix everything it found.

Reboot and rescan with Hitman and attach the new log. Tell me how things are running after doing all that.

Hello Forum,

I am a newb here and recently had some problems with the computer after letting my brother use it.  I noticed today when I was doing a search that whenever I search either from google.com or the chrome url bar I get redirected to cse.google.com/?cse ect...

I have AVG but nothing shows.  I downloaded a recommended program called spyhunter which found 323 errors, but wanted me to pay for the service.  I then downloaded spybot, and malwarebytes which found less than spyhunter (only 240) and proceeded to cleanup.

After the PC restarted, it went into a chkdsk mode then to windows.  But the Chrome still
redirects to cse.google.com for results.  I have never made a custom search.

I have Windows 7Ultimate 64bit

Please tell me what you need me to do as I know there is more information you will need, but I am afraid to touch the computer right now.  I am on here from a laptop I have for traveling.

Someone told me it was sysdate but I dont know what that means.  Is it a redirect virus?  Why would someone make adware or virus for Google?  Please help.

Hello,

I am currently having issues with a potential virus on my computer that can spread though the local area network and also occurs on my android device or I am having some network issues. Now I have two windows 7 computers, a windows 8 computer, and an android device. Recently when I use the browsers to go to google.com I get the errors I have attached below.

 networkEvidence.PNG   140.51KB

At first I thought it had sometime to do with using multiple gmail devices on my machine or the new modem installed but I do not think so and I think I might of had this issue before. The way I would normally solve the problem is by either clearing the cache and restarting the computer both which usually worked but now this problem is very frequent and is causing major issues for me.

I thought that there might be a hack with the host file which I have modified before because I did a little bit of web programming on a virtual device on one of my machines and what I found startled me. It seems that I had the localhost 127.0.0.1 three times and I am almost certain I did not do this.

This file was filled with other ips. Another computer I had nothing in it which I believe is normal. I checked for hidden host files but I could not get any. Some of the host file say the connection issues are in the... Read more

Update: I believe this might be a network issue. I got this error on my phone connected to the wifi but if I switched to 4g it was fine. I switched back and forth and this still occurred. But if anyone knows how to fix or solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Source Portable Google Browser Google Chrome

A good way of testing new versions of the so called Google browser is by running a portable version of Google Chrome. The only problem that arises is that it can be quite problematic to stay up to date with all the web browser updates that the Google Chrome team releases regularly. Long time Ghacks reader Caschy is regularly creating new portable versions of the Google Chrome browser at his website after official browser updates.
New versions of the Google browser can be regularly downloaded from the website. The browser can then be executed by launching the file ChromeLoader.exe for a normal program start or IncognitoChromeLoader.exe for starting the anonymous mode of the Google browser.
