Preferred Solution: COMODO Internet Security : Grant application access memory

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: COMODO Internet Security : Grant application access memory

But that's not how you allow memory access to avoid the log entry, (bypass self protection) as the video suggests is the problem.

You'll need to go to Defense+ -> Computer Security Policy -> Defense+ Rules.

Click on the Comodo Internet Security group and click Edit, then Customize.

Now click the Protection Settings tab, not the Access Rights tab.

In Protection Settings, click Modify on the Interprocess Memory Accesses rule and add the application that you do not wish to receive an log entry if it is trying to access a CIS process in memory.

I really want to secure my PC with anti-executable / application whitelisting technique.

Is there such a component in CIS?

Answer:Internet Security there an anti-executable / application whitelisting component in Comodo Internet Security?

Use proactive configuration and go to sandbox settings. By default proactive security will virtualize all unknows files.
If you want to block all files but whitelisted files.
See help: https://help.comodo.com/topic-72-1-623-7763-Configuring-Rules-for-Auto-Sandbox.html
Set "Block" for others.. So CIS only allows whitelisted ones, others will blocked.. Protection %100

You can dig into help files to learn more (like me) : https://help.comodo.com/topic-72-1-623-7587-Introduction-to-Comodo-Internet-Security.html

I tried to take the following steps to get the "full control" permission on a "System Volume Information" folder for a user account I had created.
right-click on the folder -> Properties -> Security tab -> Edit -> the "Permissions for <object>" dialog appears -> Add -> the "Select Users or Groups" dialog appears -> Enter the user account's name and press OK -> back to the "Permissions for <object>" dialoge -> select "Full control" for the newly added name -> Click on the Apply button
After I clicked on the Apply button, a dialoge entitled "Error Applying Security" appears, stating:

"An error occcurred while applying security information to:

...\<GUID><GUID>

Access is denied."

Behind that dialog, there was another dialog entitled "Windows Security", which states:

"Setting security information on <drive>:\System Volume Information\tracking.log"

I thought maybe Windows didn't like people to mess with such an important folder, and therefore refused to grant the permission. So, I cancelled the front "Error Applying Security" dialog. (There's another Continue button)

At this point, a new "Windows Security" dialogue popped up, saying:

"Stopping the propagation of permission settings leads to an inconsistent state, in which some objects have the settings but others don't. If you made the ch... Read more

Answer:Windows says it won't grant access permission, but it does grant.

You are looking at the permissions set on the folder. Not on the files which can have a different set of permissions. Clearly setting permissions on those files failed.

...Why are you even messing with the permissions in the first place?

I'm trying to determine if one can use a mail enabled security group setup with mailbox access rights to a Generic Mailbox. The system is Windows 2003 server.

What I'm thinking is to grant mailbox access to the security group and then the members of that group would have the access inherreted from the group.
I've tried to test this, but only get the unable to expand folder error in outlook. I'm wondering if this is because it does not work, or if it is a delay in replication of the change across the servers in the domain.

Am I way of the mark or is this doable?

I tried downloading a file. A help message told me that Windows was requesting internet access. I accidentally selected "block all access" rather than "grant access" but now I need to change this setting and allow access. So where can I alter this setting?

Answer:I need to grant access to the internet

Are you using the XP firewall? You haven't mentioned it. If you are you need to untick a few boxes, this site shows you were they are located: click here

Hi.

I'm upgrading all my security to your recommendations and have installed the Comodo Internet Security app. I like it so far.

My question which may be dumb, is does it include the same functionality as Comodo BOClean Anti-Malware or do I need to install that (or similar) as well?

Thanks,

Jeff

Answer:Does Comodo Internet Security have the Comodo BO Clean anti-malware functionality?

Re: Does Comodo Internet Security have the Comodo BO Clean anti-malware functionality

No you do not get BO Clean protection in CIS. You do get protection like that if you purchase the Pro version. See: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/index.html

Also remember that BO Clean has no scanning feature.

Issue 703 - google-security-research - Comodo: Comodo Internet Security installs and starts a VNC server by default - Google Security Research - Google Project Hosting

Answer:Comodo: Comodo Internet Security installs and starts a VNC server by default

LOL...

I knew there was a VNC associated with GeekBuddy, so I never installed it.

Even with the fix - don't install GeekBuddy - nor Chromodo, Dragon or Ice Dragon; a user doesn't need any of them.

A lot of the controversy associated with the above due to dodgy practices.

Other than that, COMODO Internet Security is decent security soft using Proactive Security at default settings.

Hello everyone. Wanted to post this to find out whether you guys are liking Comodo v10. It's my personal impression that it's quite a measure better than the best of v8 with fewer bugs.

First a shout out for Comodo. I am using the FW version, and I would like to comment that I feel Comodo seems to me in the FW to have at least worked on getting the very most important elements of the program to function properly and dependably. At the same time, I don't sense that there is unpredictability hiding in CFW like I sensed with v8 and previously . This causes me to have confidence and not feel that the program is going to let me down somehow. Great job Comodo is my early impression.

Otherwise, I like the program. Can it be better? Yes, I think so, but now I am even more looking forward to v11 than I was looking forward to 10.

Please post comments. I am very interested in this topic. If I am right about dependability, I am curious if a dependable Comodo CIS/FW will push other security companies to double time plans they may have had for their product .

Seamless Protection Shield: We Default Deny Unknowns

As a core element of Comodo Internet Security seamless protection, Default Deny Platform is now even more improved and easy to use.

In order to increase the user experience as well as providing the full protection, one of the most important points is also giving the right verdict to the files. CIS stores ratings of a file from a user, other sources, and cloud as separate data fields with their own time-stamp. CIS combines all those fields to the final rating on the fly. This allows understanding why we trust the file and when each component of this decision had been got.

Comodo Internet Security Premium vs Zone Alarm Extreme Security

Answer:Comodo Internet Security Premium vs Zone Alarm Extreme Security

My vote goes to Zone Alarm but only for the fact that the average user uses Comodo with default settings.
With an advanced configuration (Comodo Defense +, Sandbox and HIPS), Comodo ensures an absolute protection level.

Hi,

Well I want to know is Comodo Internet Security 8 or Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 better?

Answer:Comodo Internet Security 8 VS Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

Despite one being paid only and the other free solution, if you can have even trial versions of Kaspersky, then comparison can be done as follow:

KIS has a very good selection of under the hood protection even on default settings, so it works out of the box. Comodo on the other hand has good tools as well but requires manual configuration on settings to even come close to Kaspersky.

In terms of AV, KIS is known for its signatures and removal processes. Comodo on the other hand has always focused on Prevention over Detection.

User friendliness, both are fine at first look but when you start to dig into the options, both can be daunting.

So if you have the option to use KIS, then I recommend KIS.

If you do not and you are just an average user/casual user, perhaps another free solution will do you better.

Edit: forgot to mention: Kaspersky does have a small boot time impact compared to Comodo but it is basically negligible.

The link of comodo internet security on this site seems to point to the firewall only.

Am I correct that if one wants the internet security suite it has to be downloaded from the author's site and not MG?

Is this the link to the FW only and antivirus must be installed with it? That would mean that BOClean would not be available unless the Internet Security suite is installed from the author's site?

My system is XP Pro/SP3. I'm using Comodo's Firewall and AV and noticed today a note saying after 10/10, the data base was not being updated for this version and to install the new version. So I did that and then came across a note in the protecting your computer write up in the Malware section for the download of just the AV saying that it was for SP2 with no mention of SP3. Does this new version loaded together with the firewall cover SP3?

Answer:Comodo Internet Security

Hi

Yes it will, the latest version will cover SP3 and previous versions of the Windows XP Service Packs.

What the guide is more stating is that at a minimum you will need XP SP2 to run this latest update to Comodo, so any later versions as in your SP3 you will be ok.

I have heard almost nothing about it, yet I use it. I haven't had any problems with it, but I was wondering in this case if no news is good news? Ever since I've been visiting this forum, the sentiment I have gathered is that Microsoft Security Essentials is probably the best free option for Windows users. Is it a security suite? I will guess yes, judging by the name. I want to make sure I am using the best possible security software for my situation.

Answer:Comodo Internet Security

Greetings, evti...

Comodo Internet Security is listed by MajorGeeks and has been given a rating of 4.68, which I would guess is pretty good. On the other hand, MSE is also good...

Internet security is more about surfing habits and common sense - antispyware and antivirus programs are only as good as you allow them to be...

IMO, if you're having no problems with Comodo, then continue to march with it. Never know what problems might pop up if you needlessly try to switch antivirus programs...

I made up a phrase one time: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.?

Yesterday Avira AntiVirus detected a trojan back door server on my system. I immediately installed Comodo Internet Security for it's firewall so I could see if I had an infection phoning home or something.

In the end, it turned out it was just another Avira false positive. I sent the infected .exe around to my friends and Bit Defender detected it, but AVG, Kaspersky, Comodo, and Trend Micro all said it was clean. /shrugs

Anyways, this Comodo IS is pretty thorough stuff. I was surprised at the level of reporting and prompting you can set this thing to. The Defense+ protection was amazing. Every little step a application goes through is prompted for.

What do you guys think? Have you tried it out?

Answer:Comodo Internet Security

I use their antivirus and firewall on most of the machines in my house, except mine, where I have NOD32 for AV - so I'm just using the firewall. It seems to do a good job. I disable the Defense+ - I can see how it could be useful, but I feel it prompts a little too much.

I found the Firewall to be "in your face" meaning that it requires input from you. I like this feature as it warns you when a program is trying to access the internet.

While cleaning up in preparation for using Acronis to do an image backup on my newest desktop, I tried updating Comodo Internet Security to latest level. Comodo wanted me to uninstall current version before new install. When I did I lost my internet connection. My laptop (this computer) and my other desktop connect just fine. I reset my router and went through procedures to reconnect my new desktop to the internet but no help. Tried to use Windsock fix but no help. I used Avira antivirus as well as Avast antivirus to look for malware and found "tr crpt.xpack.gen" trojan and I believe I remove it. However, no help with the internet problem and I was having problems with slow response so I did a Windows repair from my CD. The system now responds much more quickly but the internet connection problem persists. I reset my router and went through procedures to reestablish internet connection but no help. I went through the MG procedures to clean up XP for possible malware and I have attached the relevant files. The SAS didn't detect anything so no results file was created. The ComboFix text file exceeded the 250Kb limit so I couldn't attach it. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello All
My teenage son has a laptop with XP SP2. Earlier today had a problem with fake anti-V software popups.Luckily he remembered what I told him and clicked nothing. Was able to kill things with MBAM in safe mode with networking which killed four rouges then reran MBAM (full scan)in normal mode plus SAS (full scan). MBAM found nothing, SAS found three tracking cookies. So far we seem clean.
Put Comodo Internet Security pro on my Toughbook last year. I have had no problems so far but I am a pretty conservative internet user. Especially since I had a run in with malware a couple of years ago. I did see that Comodo questioned something I ran across. It sent it off for analysis and then reported it was ok.I thought this was pretty impressive although I am the first to admit I am not the most sophisticated user.
I frequently take a look at the "Am I infected" forum just to see what is new. I know that no anti- virus protection works against all attacks but I do not recall ever seeing someone post a problem and show Comodo as their anti-malware protection.
I am considering downloading the free Comodo Internet Security version and also the Comodo Firewall for his computer.
Any input pro or con would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Nawtheasta

Answer:Opinion on Comodo internet security

I'm no expert at all but I have found the Comodo software more of a hinderance than a help, it constantly asks you to allow pointless things, for example, 'Firefox is trying to connect to the Internet' but has never actually protected me from malware.
As I said beofre though, I'm definetly no expert on Firewalls or anything but thats my opinion

I think the latest incarnation of comodo has become very unstable and buggy with lots of bloat.

What are your opinions on this?
Thanks.

Answer:Do you think comodo internet security has become bloatware?

Yes it has a lot of bloatware and unnecessary features. It is really not Comodo's fault, they are trying these best to satisfy their fanboys on their forum. Most of the bloatware was requested by their forum members.

Most average users would never need CCE, Geek Buddy, Comodo Dragon, Comodo DNS and Virtual Kiosk, these features are basically for paranoid fanboys.

If the firewall, AV, sandbox and D+ are utilized correctly the system would be fully protected.

So don't blame Comodo, blame the fanboys for requesting all of this junk to be added. You can bet more junk will be added as well as they will continue to make requests.

Bugs, when has Comodo not had noticeable bugs? that is caused by the rush development to satisfy their fanboys as well.

Thanks.

Should I turn it on or not? If I should turn it on, then what are the recommended settings.

Also should I disable windows firewall or just leave it enabled?

Answer:Comodo Internet Security - HIPS On or Off?

Hi @Sloth

HIPS leaves in "off" and set it as a proactive defense. The level of protection of the firewall is so high that not worth having HIPS and not receive many messages

Windows firewall must be disabled. There NOT should be two firewalls running simultaneously

I installed CIS, as recommended here, following an issue with my husband's computer getting a virus.

So far it's been fine, but yesterday I managed to get something on my system from a website that appeared to be trustworthy (I have a thread in the Malware section at the moment waiting for logs to be checked).

I disabled CIS while running all the scans, but I wondered whether there are any recommendations on the best settings for the AV, Firewall and Defense+ in order to prevent further attacks. Currently they are on Stateful, Safe Mode, Safe Mode, respectively.

Luckily I run Windows 7 in a restricted access mode, but I've put that up to maximum level now. I just want to be sure to make this less likely in future. It's most inconvenient to have to spend all day cleaning up after these morons.

Answer:Settings for Comodo Internet Security

Apologies for posting again, but I have another issue and just want to get this all sorted and be fully protected.

I still have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed from when I did the scans a couple of days ago. Last night I looked at a friend's blog (a Blogger site that I've looked at hundreds of times over the past few years) and from the system tray a MAM pop-up warning appeared telling me that it had blocked a suspicious website and gave an IP address and a port number. The blog still loaded, so I am wondering what actually happened and whether I should be concerned about this.

I'm using Firefox 5.0.1.

Hi ! Comodo has released a new version of COMODO Internet Security

The new website filtering section gives CIS users a powerful and easy way to allow or block access to specific websites. Website access rules can be created for particular users of your computer, which makes this feature very useful for both home and work environments.
For example, parents can block juvenile users from visiting inappropriate websites while companies can prevent employees from visiting leisure sites during working hours.
You also have the option to create a log event whenever a user tries to visit a website which is in conflict with a rule. CIS ships ... Read more

Hi guys

I have the following product installed on my one computer : Comodo CIS 2009 free. (http://www.comodo.com) which is not a rogue antivirus. I want to know how to set it so that a pop up doesn't occour asking me for an action everytime I install programs, is it normal that it does that or is it a security measure that no malware gets installed by mistake? How do I control what applications are allowed and what are blocked?

Regards

Roger

Answer:Comodo Internet Security Free

It is there so that nothing can be installed without you knowing about it. When you get the pop-up, if you know what it is, select 'Installer or Updater' and then say yes to installation mode. You will usually get one other popup to allow and then it will install quietly.

This is necessary to prevent you suffering a drive by download from an infected website, which are very common now.

With CIS nothing unknown can install itself on your system unless you allow it.

Answer:Comodo internet security problem

I'm using CIS myself. Personally I've set it to auto-sandbox anything untrusted and disabled HIPS and VirusScope as I prefer to use other software for HIPS.

If you read this article carefully it should answer most of your questions:

How to Install Comodo Firewall - with CIS

You might need to create some exclusions especially for little known programs.

Recently downloaded and installed Comodo Internet Security. Getting a lot of popups from Defense + regarding allowing/blocking programs. I have no idea what most of these programs are and don't have the time/energy to analyze each one. Should I lower the Defense + setting or disable it? Are there other similar programs which are more user friendly as an alternative? More broadly, what's the best way to balance ease of usage and security?
Thanks, RB

Answer:Comodo Internet Security / Defense +

If your getting lots of popoups and haven't got the time or you don't understand half of them, then i suggest you uninstall Comodo Internet Security using revo uninstaller linked http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html then download something a little less harder for you to understand, due to some of the popups you will be recieving maybe false positives and some might just be warning you of real dangerous software you may have either installed or dangerous security flaws, and you'll have to be careful what you block out and what you don't !

Good Luck Rusty !

Hey eveyone,
I downloaded the beta version to my computer two days ago and did an upgrade to install. A pop-up would come up when i started the computer and it said that comodo could not be started right. So i figured it must be because it thinks it should still be running on vista. I uninstalled it and downloaded the Internet Security Package onto my desktop. I double click on it. I choose next to start the installer, click agree, and choose where i want it to download to. When i click next, it starts but then stops suddenly and the green little bars start to go back down. It says that it is rolling back and within literally 3 seconds it says roll back complete. I exited, ran Ccleaner and Wise registry 3(thinking the computer might have some left over info that it didnt grab)
After i did that i restarted the install process and it did the same exact thing. Is it because it is not compatable?

Also the sonner i can get help the better because i have absolutly no protection(i have no faith in windows firewall)

Thanks everyone,
Ben

I have just downloaded the free version of Comodo Internet Security from their website. It installed all fine, though, when I try to scan, it first searches for updates online. And the update program and scan aborts after a few seconds saying : Status: The server name or address could not be resolved.
I am on a 125 Kbps broadband internet connection.
My PC has recently had a virus or some other malware. On startup two screens load up, and on connecting a flash drive, numerous shortcuts, along with a recycler folder and other .exe programs appear on the flash drive, which appears again, after deletion. After the problem, it seems my Google Chrome has also been having problems. The apps pages dont appear and it doesnt work properly like before.
So how do I update the Comodo Internet Security? And whats the problem for aborting the update?

Windows 7 Home

I run Comodo Internet Security 8.2.0.4674 (Free) and it is always updated manually monthly by me. Secunia 2.0 now tells me this program is "unstable" and I should install a patch. There is no patch I can locate on the Comodo website but the latest version of Comodo is 8.2.0.4792 (11/15) and I am wondering if I should install this version? I am hesitant to do this since I wonder if all the settings I have changed or made to the default program will transfer to the upgrade download? It took some time to go through setting options previously and I really don't want to have to do that drill again, particularly since my current version of Comodo has worked perfectly for the past several years with no problems and continues to tell me that I am being protected!!

Any advise or response would be appreciated!

The first post will be updated by me with what user's think is good and bad about the product, so an informed decision can be made for newcomers.

Cons
Has bugs so if you are unlucky and affected you will be sad. Bug fixing is slow and doesn't happen often and for sure not fast.
Needs a lot of effort to improve protection.

Pros
You can change configuration a lot to suit your needs.
Basic protection is decent.

New:
- We now have a new tab "Advanced Protection" under "Advanced Settings" where:
a - "Virus Scope" and "Secure Shopping": These used to be separate tabs are now part of this "Advanced Protection" section.
b - "Miscellaneous": From HIPS Settings, we have moved 4 settings and made part of this section. "Heuristic Command Line Analysis" and "Embedded Code Detection" are integrated under one interface as "Do Heurristic Command Line Analysis". So embedded code detection is expanded in that interface and connected with related parsers. Also we have moved "shell code injection detection" and "browser configuration modification" settings under this section.

- Comodo Secure DNS is back in installation offering now

Changes:
- You will see word "Sandbox" is now replaced with word "Containment" across whole GUI as that is easier to understand by layman while Sandbox has been more technical.

Improved:
Support of Python interpreter in heuristic command line analysis

Fixed:
- All GUI issues experienced with upcoming Windows 10 RedStone-2 / Creators Update are fixed in this release.

Main focus of CIS v10 has been to make it more stable and bug free and as part of that aim, hundreds of bugs are fixed, below are few particular fixes:
- BSOD after launched Opera in Sandbox
- Critical bypasses of Sanbdox
- Keyboard can be intercepted in Virtual Desktop

Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback on BETA-3.

We are getting close to release and here is RC build v10.0.2.6392 with following additional changes on top of previous beta releases:

New:
In order to improve performance of browsing network files, we have introduced a new flag under "Settings-->Antivirus-->Realtime Scan" as "Enable realtime scanning of files on network".

This allows to control if files on network should be scanned when you browse network folder or copy files network to network i.e. one folder on network to other folder on network. This is de-selected by default for performance reasons. If you want, you can enable and files on network will be scanned upon access just like local files.

In any case you copy network file to local system, files will be scanned. So this feature is only for files on network.

Additionally, when older version update to this newer version, this flag will remain selected, going forward for new installations, it will be de-selected by default.

Fix:
If you update to RS3, firewall may not be fully functional and required system re-start as a fix. Issue reported here. FT edit: Fixed link to post

Online Setups:

If your computer doesn't have firewall and antivirus protection, you risk exposing it and personal information to all manner of malware. You owe it to yourself and the online community at large to install security. Comodo Internet Security 4.0 offers free firewall and antivirus protection, along with a budding "Social Authentication" browser toolbar. Overall, Comdo's protection is quirky, but the effectiveness of the components is consistent.

I have been using Comodo Internet Security on my Windows 7 Dell XPS Laptop.
I uninstalled on both my laptop and desktop. Both had issues after doing the uninstall.
Last nite someone from greekbuddy helped resolved the issues on my desktop.
I asked for help on my laptop this morning and no resolve but worse.
Computer is taking a long time to restart, slow and I get a black screen plus won't connect to the internet at times.
I still see files from Comodo on my computer that were removed via help last night on  my desktop.
The person I asked to help me on laptop seems to go round and round, not deleting these files and playing around on my computer has made things worse.
Help and thanks

Answer:Comodo Internet Security Issues

Did you try using Revo Uninstaller? You have unwanted programs on your computer system that should be removed.I recommend using the following program to do this because it is good at removing any stray remnants that uninstallers often leave behind.1. Please download REVO UNINSTALLERand save it on your computer.2. Install Revo Uninstaller on your computer system.3. Once the program is installed start the program and insure the uninstaller tab is active. (See image below)Icons from all your installed programs will appear alphabetically in the main window.4. Right click the program you wish to uninstall by selecting the program's icon in the main window.A menu will appear such as that shown below.5. Next, choose Uninstall from this menu.A confirmation from the program you wish to uninstall will appear on your screen, such as the one shown in the image below.6. Please choose YES that you wish to uninstall the program.By default, Revo Uninstaller will be set to Moderate uninstall Mode. Please change it to Advanced by clicking the radio button near Advanced as shown below and then click the NEXT button.7. Next, you will see this screen where a system restore back up is made. The program's built in uninstaller will appear on screen, confirm removal and the uninstall procedure will begin. The program you uninstalled will confirm it has been uninstalled and may ask for user feedback as shown below. It is really your choice if you wish to take the time to answer their survey, however... Read more

Hi All,

I've been using COMODO for several years now, without any problems. That is until just recently.
Now, for like the past couple of months, I can't get the Virus Signature Database to update, which it is supposed to do automatically every time that the program is started.

Does anyone know how to do the updates manually?

Thanks for any advice.

Answer:COMODO Internet Security 8 BETA NOT WORKING IN VMs

Mike- I?ve been running Comodo Firewall pretty much since it was released (primarily in a sacrificial box but also in VMware) and haven?t experienced anything similar. Post run fault analysis obviously entails inspection of the hidden VTRoot directory where every time the malware can be seen happily playing in virtual oblivion. For the Beta works as it should..

I?m wondering if what you are seeing is due to the installation of the Antivirus. As mentioned above I only care to use the Firewall, seeing no need for a local Comodo AV, as with both the Cloud and Sandbox enabled this would really add little (except a possible bug?).

Hi All,
We are pleased to announce availability of Internet Security Essentials v1.3.436779.133 - RC on test server:

Changes:
- It has manual updater now. Please see enclosed snapshot. Now when you click on "?" icon on title, it exposes three sub menus including one for manual updater.
- There is also checkbox option for auto installing program updates. Like CIS and CCAV, ISE may also auto install updates in critical situations and will ask for system re-start.
- It should not alert for know security software installed certificates. e.g. you should not see alert for Fiddler. We had such support earlier also, but had some bugs and alert could still be shown.

Hi all

Hi All,

We would be making a hot-fix release of CIS next week and would like to present RC version of the same here.

Fix:
- We have been reviewing Windows preview builds and came across crash in Edge browser in one of Insider Preview builds as pointed here. These changes in Windows 10 could go into RS3 release, which could happen any time September, 2017 onwards.

Changes:
- If CIS is updated, it will also update Internet Security Essentials(ISE) to latest v94 in case installed in system.
- When you install CIS afresh, Secure Shopping section in it will not have default websites list. You can always configure a new website and will be alerted. At the moment we do not have remember choice option in those alerts and thus was inconvenient.

Steps for testing:

As update:
1. Install latest CIS v6258

then take next steps to configure test server, via which you can receive RC updates:
2. Open %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file
3. Add following string to the above hosts file
91.209.196.83 download.comodo.com
4. Ensure there are no other download.comodo.com entries in that hosts file
5. Save hosts file
6. go to command prompt and ensure you have cleared cache by using "ipconfig /flushdns"

As new installation:
7. after you have ensured you have hosts entries for test server as defined above, you could download following setups:

But a few days ago when i try to log in into my com it will show blue screen of death for 0.5 sec and then my computer will reboot itself and ask me whether i want to start my computer normally or start it in the last working setting. If i choose start PC normally the BSOF will appear again and my PC will reboot. I can only choose to start my PC in the last working setting. I just rebuilt my Compaq presario c500 laptop and reinstalled vista home basic. running comodo internet security now but i was wondering if norton is better for vista?? never had a problem with comodo on my xp machine or my windows 7 machines.

Answer:Comodo internet security or norton 360 with back-up

Hi,

Perhaps your answer is in the question, "I've never had an issue"!

Why pick an unknown? ON saying that, I have Norton 360 & never had an issue either! I wouldn't swap it to Comodo.

I'm currently using ZoneAlarm Free (version 8) as my firewall. I like it because of it's ease-of-use (in my opinion). While it is a decent firewall, and I am not experiencing any issues with my machine (WinXP SP3), I'm thinking of changing it to a "better rated" firewall (according to reviews / results on Matousec). I know, software as a whole is a matter of personal choice and maybe I should leave well-enough alone...

I've tried Online Armor Free in the past. Though well-regarded, for me it seemed to slow down my machine, so I'm going to pass on that one.

I see from other posts that people have mixed opinions about PC Tools Firewall Plus. So, unless it gets a great recommendation from more than one person, maybe I'll pass on that one as well?

I'm thinking about Comodo Internet Security (the firewall only). The only initial drawback I've heard is that Comodo seems to have a lot of pop-up windows asking the user for input compared to ZoneAlarm which seems to only ask the first time.
Here's my question, which I don't think was asked elsewhere (I may be wrong) --
If I do decide to switch, which option should I select:
a) Basic Firewall only
b) Firewall with ProActive Defense
c) Firewall with ProActive Defense Plus.
Also, is SafeSurf necessary?

On a side note, I've heard (but cannot confirm) that Comodo's Anti-Virus (and perhaps the Anti-Spyware portion) isn't quite up-to-snuff.

Answer:Switch to Comodo Internet Security (Firewall only)?

I just ran all the clean up & everything from a spyware infection, and installed your suggestions from "How to Protect Yourself from Malware". I kept SAS & MBAM, and I installed Spyware Blaster & COMODO Internet Security. I also followed the link to set up Max Security with Zero alerts.

Everything seems to be working well, except that my computer has no sound now! Well I take that back, Media Player works fine. I can play anything as long as it's in Media Player. But if I try to stream a radio station or watch an embedded video, no sound comes out.

I have a Dell Dimension 2350, with a SoundMAX sound card. I updated the driver & updated my browser to IE8. I can't think of anything else to do to make it work. Any suggestions?

Answer:No sound since downloading COMODO Internet Security

I'm no help, but planning to load Comodo if I ever get internet connectivity back. Eager to see responses. Might change my mind...hope you get an answer soon.
