Last Call for free migration to Kaspersky Internet Security

Question: Last Call for free migration to Kaspersky Internet Security

Hi,

Just for reminder only!

Agnitum has stopped sales of the Outpost product line. The technical support and antivirus database updates terminate on January 9, 2017. In this regard, we encourage you to exchange active Outpost licenses for a license to Kaspersky Internet Security free of charge.

Agreement to the license exchange program terminates the license for Outpost. Thus you cannot use and update Outpost products after receiving Kaspersky keys.

You can exchange purchased licenses for Outpost Antivirus Pro, Outpost Personal Firewall Pro, Outpost Security Suite Pro, Outpost Network Security.

Licenses for Outpost Firewall Free, Outpost Security Suite Free, Jammer and Tauscan are not eligible for the exchange.

We suggest the following procedure for exchanging your license for free:

Active Outpost license Kaspersky Internet Security license
License expiring in 2016 Ineligible for exchange
License expiring in 2017 1-year license to Kaspersky Internet Security 3 PC
Lifetime license 2-year license to Kaspersky Internet Security 3 PC (you will receive two subsequently activated 1-year license keys)
Business and educational license expiring in 2017 or later In order to receive the exchange offer, please contact us through the support form and provide your active license key.
Kaspersky Internet Security license should be activated untill February 28, 2017.

For exchanging licenses, individuals are requested to enter an active Outpost registration key in the form below.

You can find the key in the registration key email. Please copy the text between Registration Key lines using your mouse, and paste the key into the form. You can also copy it from the "key" file located at

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Agnitum\Security Suite\ (Windows XP)
C:\ProgramData\Agnitum\Security Suite\ (Windows Vista and later OSs)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Gday.

I have kaspersky internet security but my license has ran out. Im just wondering if I should purchase another license or if their are free programs that are better? Or is kaspersky better than all free programs?
Thanks.

Answer:kaspersky internet security VS Sas, AVira free.

Whether one antivirus is better than another is more a matter of opinion than fact. It all depends on what criteria you use for the comparison.

Having said that, I think the free antivirus solutions available are more than adequate. I personally use the freeware Comodo antivirus/firewall combination. Why pay for something when you can get it for free!

Remember though, all the protection in the world won't stop you from getting infected if you're not careful about how you use your computer.

Quite a few of us on PCR really like KIS 7.0, which includes a very good AntiVirus and Firewall.

The link at the top there should let you download a 6 month free trial of it, which is a bit of a bargain

Thanks for the heads up V_R I do like the new version, the only slight problem is that I can't figure out how to control access permissions for individual apps as easily. Perhaps I just need a little more time to play around with it.

There is no point in any home user paying for security. Use Avast AV click here and Superantispyware free version click here and you will have more than enough protection. Both will auto-update so you can just leave them to get on with the job.G

Until today I?d still say screw (pardon me) the free Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 for attendees and hosts of !important]Windows!important]7 launch parties promotion. It has been annoyingly ?posted everywhere? and finally when the day comes, you need to enter the party host?s email address to receive the license. I knew it was too good to be true or impossible for Kaspersky to be that generous, that?s why I didn?t have a blog post on that. Well some lucky and smart people are able to imporatntGooglrfor the host?s email address but still Kaspersky deactivated a lot of codes that were obtained fraudulently. Even for those free 6 months KIS or KAV license from magazine promotions were also strictly being monitored and immediately terminated when they found out it has been leaked.

Enough for the rant and let?s get to the real thing. Today I am going to share with you a unique tip on how to get Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 license for FREE which has not been posted at anywhere yet. Do you still remember that ComputerBild, one of the best selling German language computer magazine in Europe that is giving out free Kaspersky impostant seciuirt CBE? Five months ago I?ve written on how to install the latest version of CBE 2009 and today it will be about CBE Win7 which is the same as Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.

For a limited time (promotion ends 2 PM PST December 12, 2009), Gizmo's is giving away DefenseWall HIPS v2.56 (no updates or support provides) for free.

DefenseWall HIPS is a popular program known for its policy-based (as opposed to signature based) anti-malware approach; it creates a "trusted" and "untrusted" list of applications and reduces access for the applications on the untrusted list.

DefenseWall HIPS works very similarly to GesWall which I have discussed in my article on best free security software.

Being a "HIPS" program, DefenseWall HIPS should not be used as standalone security software; it is what I call a "sidekick". In other words, you should have other security software, such as anti-virus/anti-malware and firewall, installed on your computer. DefenseWall HIPS will play along fine with your other security software, as long as you are not running another HIPS program.

The only reservation about this promotion I have is the fact that no updates will be provided. While DefenseWall HIPS can fair well without updates because of the nature of how it works, I don't know about you, but I would never run a security software that will receive no updates. Malware writers are continually "updating" their malware to break the newest and best shiny toys you can protect your computer with. It makes no sense for someone to use a security software that won't receive updates

As far as I know, the main difference is that KAV does not have Application Control, but Kaspersky Internet Security does.
Does this make a big difference in protection?
I am asking because I want to combo Kaspersky with an app that has a HIPS component, so I need to use KAV rather than KIS.

Answer:how good Internet Security Kaspersky AntiVirus, as compared to Kaspersky Internet Security?

Application control and Trusted Applications Mode are a great additional layer of protection. Which app do you want to add to Kaspersky? IMO KIS would be the best. TAM is really great.

No other RealTime security software.

My portable programs SecurMyBit, VidCoder, etc... were under "Low Restricted" in Application Control.
I move them to "Trusted" in AC.
After couple of days, the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".
When I run the programs, they appear under "Low Restricted" And I again move them to "Trusted" But after couple of days the same mentioned above i.e the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".

Is it a bug or bug on Windows 10 64 or bug in KIS 2017 or ............?

Any info?

Any Kaspersky users experience the above?

Answer:Kaspersky Application Control - Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 bug?

Yes, this happens & not only in 2017 but in earlier versions as well.

I experience it as well, but not quite often as you are. Mine comes when i am disconnected from internet for a while & then connect again, then (i guess) KSN checks the app control rules again & places them (apps) as described in the KSN rule-set.

The problem come from the setting 'Load rule for applications from KSN' in application control, which is enabled by default.

This shouldn't be a problem if you are using default settings (Auto-mode) as Low restricted is basically Trusted in auto-mode. But if you use interactive mode, this causes a lot of prompts which can be quite annoying.

I wonder what kind of settings can be put on this or the features that can be disabled to keep it running smoothly.

I keep installing and uninstalling this software. It slows my web browsing, makes firefox almost unusable.

My setup is a i5 6 GB laptop.

I bought 3 licenses for kis total 2016 during this march. It seems like all will go to waste lol.

I got 2 unused licenses for total security. If anybody is interested in trading for another security product, let me know. I can provide you with the purchase screenshot or proof.

If you come from Bitdefender then I would recommend you KIS2016, quite light; very effective. ESET is also a good option, Emsisoft same stuff. If you like smooth and less interactive protection ESET and Kaspersky would be better, Emsisoft is cool but a bit more interactive IMO.

hello , i just want to know in Behavior Blocker , Norton is better? or Kaspersky is better ?

thanks friends

Answer:[Behavior Blocker] Norton Security vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

As for Kaspersky, I have not used it since about 2009 when it was Kaspersky PURE so I cannot really comment. But as for Norton, it blocks unknown files it doesn't have a HIPS as such but any program being stupid of trying to access websites and files they shouldn't get blocked by SONAR their zero-day and zero-hour malware component.

Earlier I was using Bitdefender and thought Bitdefender was the number 1 and Kaspersky is the number 2. But After coming to this forum I realized that the reality is completely different! Some products have trouble working with Windows 10, some have trouble protecting 64bit systems. I did some digging and settled with two products. Kaspersky and ESET. Im using a Windows 10 64 bit system. What product might be the best for such a setup?

Answer:ESET Smart Security 9 vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 for Win 10 64bit

For purely protection basis you may go to ESET SS 9 as you can tweak the HIPS for protection and their Sandbox (Banking) + so far the architecture (x64) isn't affected from performance.

KIS 2016 is a promising suite, however until now limited components working from prevention due to Windows 10 environment which the developers make a note to fix those issues; but overall a balance concept where you can tweak more from numerous components.

Somehow the system impact tends to be consistent as light for ESET than Kaspersky.

Still brace yourself to see those possible unique characteristics.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is a capable product which delivers everything you?d expect from a security suite: antivirus, firewall, browsing protection, a spam filter and more. The technology scores highly with the independent testing labs, too, so we were interested to see what the new build had to offer.

Installation was quick and easy. Unlike some of the competition, you?re not forced to remove anything else vaguely security-related: Kaspersky warns you about possible conflicts, but whether you uninstall any problem programs is up to you.

The interface looks a little different to previous editions -- lighter, more subdued -- but it feels very similar. Four large buttons give access to key areas (Scan, Update, Safe Money, Parental Control), and links give one-click access to your settings and a list of other tools. It?s all very straightforward, and even newcomers to Kaspersky should quickly find what they need.

We did have a few issues with the initial setup, with for example our spam filter being turned off by default. Fortunately this wasn?t difficult to spot, or fix: click Settings > Protection Center, every protective layer is listed, and you?re able to disable or enable them with a click. It only took a few moments, and we were ready for testing.

Antivirus
Kaspersky cloud-assisted antivirus technology is highly rated by independent testing labs, and it?s not difficult to see why. As we write, AV-Test?s latest reports show the Kaspersky 2014 d... Read more

Hello guys,

Since past one year I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2015. Now my license almost expired. It needs to be renewed. So I want to change my Internet security. I read several Internet security reviews and Finally I picked Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 and Emsisoft Internet Security 10.

But the main problem is EIS used online Armor firewall until v 9. after EIS 10 they merged online armor firewall. I didn't find any reviews regarding EIS 10 firewall effecincy.

I want some input mainly regarding EIS 10 firewall compared to KIS 2015.
If you guys can suggest me any other internet security is better than KIS 2015 (more focus is strong firewall)

My system config is 8 GB memory with Win 7 x86.
my license will expire in 5 days so please give more accurate input.

Answer:Emsisoft Internet Security 10 vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2015

The firewall in EIS 9 and 10 is not the firewall used in Online Armor; the EIS 9 and 10 firewall was built from scratch - from the "ground up."

The only more capable firewall than Emsisoft is Comodo firewall.

Kaspersky firewall technically is not as good as Emsisoft firewall... but the differences are not likely to be noticeable.

Also, the EIS firewall interface is much more user friendly. Most people like it more. EIS will be much lighter on your system in all likelihood.

Without getting into a whole lot of technical infos - the EIS firewall is better configured with default global rules and it is better automated than Kasper.

Try it out before you make a commitment...

which one has the better Behaviour blocker?

Answer:Emsisoft Internet Security vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2017

Emsisoft internet Security 2017 (only short test)

Good and simple interface, a little heavy on my PC, at startup you lose 2 -3 seconds at the most , for the rest, the system reports 200/300 MB RAM, the updates are every hour, good scan, which uses 2 engines, good firewall, good static detection and excellent BB.
(I use EAM for a long time.)

Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 (only short test)

I have quickly tested it on a spare computer a short time ago, but lets say: very clean UI, light on the system, it has many functions that may turn up the noses at the less experienced users but really good. After the installation, the next reboot was quite fast, good scan speed and great malware detection.
No idea about BB and firewall, but I'm sure very good as the rest of the software.

I think a very nice little duel, what is your preference?

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security vs SecureAnywhere Internet Security Complete

You cant compare both. They work in totally different ways. Plus one is mainly cloud while the other is not. Aside from that, KIS has way more modules than WSA.

You would have a better comparison if you were to list ESET or Norton instead of WSA.

Hi,

Well I want to know is Comodo Internet Security 8 or Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 better?

Answer:Comodo Internet Security 8 VS Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

Despite one being paid only and the other free solution, if you can have even trial versions of Kaspersky, then comparison can be done as follow:

KIS has a very good selection of under the hood protection even on default settings, so it works out of the box. Comodo on the other hand has good tools as well but requires manual configuration on settings to even come close to Kaspersky.

In terms of AV, KIS is known for its signatures and removal processes. Comodo on the other hand has always focused on Prevention over Detection.

User friendliness, both are fine at first look but when you start to dig into the options, both can be daunting.

So if you have the option to use KIS, then I recommend KIS.

If you do not and you are just an average user/casual user, perhaps another free solution will do you better.

Edit: forgot to mention: Kaspersky does have a small boot time impact compared to Comodo but it is basically negligible.

I was wondering if I disabled the Anti-Virus protection on McAfee Security Center would Kaspersky install and run properly?

Also does Kaspersky Anti-Virus run in the back ground like McAfee would?

Reason I am asking this is because I recently was attacked by trojans, and McAfee did not pick up a single one, and Kaspersky online scanner picked up three...

Thanks for you suggestions and help.

I am looking for some help and advice from my fellow forum members. I'm currently using Zone Alarm Internet Security and it's due to expire in 30 days. I've been thinking about changing to either Kaspersky Internet Security or ESET Smart Security for a number of reasons.

Firstly, both products seem to offer excellent independent anti virus products. Secondly, I prefer whole integrated suites and I know one of the criticisms is the large memory and CPU consumption that they use. However, these two products seem to have a relatively small memory footprint.

I was just wondering if anybody had used either of these products and how they found them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have been persuaded to use Kaspersky and am awaiting download. Do I have to remove Sec Essentials before installing Kasp ?

Answer:MS Security Essential and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

Yes, it's better to remove any other antivirus prior to install a new one. Reason is that two active antivirus scanning the system at the same time may conflict between them and unnecessarily slow down your system.

Always have only one antivirus doing on-access system scanning. Keeping MSE or anything else just for on-demand scans is fine.

I'm on a dilemma here. Was planning to leave Avast Free behind and choose from a paid suite.

Norton Security Standard (lastest version)
Kaspersky Internet Security (lastest version)

What would you recommend for home use and advanced knowledge? Thanks!

Aditional notes:
Chosen product will be on max settings
Will use the suite firewall (on max settings)
Will be used along with VodooShield and HitmanPro.Alert

Answer:Norton Security Standard vs Kaspersky Internet Security

Both are fantastic products, both will give you a very good protection for home use. If you are more advanced user, go for Kaspersky. Norton is more "install and forget", it's less customizable.

Which one is the best ?
better detection
Less false positives
Worth less in the system

I bought a license for ESET Smart Security 9, apparently Antivirus is excellent, very saw videos of comparisons with other antivirus, and it pleased me a lot, both in the interface and usability!
I was in doubt of which pay a license, get me out of this doubt, what do you think best?
Thank you!
I hope you understand my question!
I used Google Translate, I'm from Brazil.
Thank you again!

Kaspersky for better detection and I think also less false positive

but you said "I bought a license for ESET Smart Security 9" so just use it then. Eset is good too, very light on system

My current AV is about to expire so it's time to purchase another year of protection.  I've been running Norton Security with good results but am wondering if I should switch.  Norton as you know is not included in the AV Comparatives but of the paid for choices Kaspersky is rated highly.

Can anyone help me decide if I should continue with Norton or make the jump to Kaspersky?

Also Amazon has prior year versions of Norton and Kaspersky available for substantial savings.

Will these prior year versions automatically update to the current version when installed?

Thanks

Answer:Norton Security Deluxe vs Kaspersky Internet Security

Although Norton (Symantec) is as good as any other well known anti-virus program, it is costly, requires numerous services and running processes that consume system resources and often results in complaints of high CPU usage. Anti-virus software components insert themselves deep into the operating systems core where they install kernel mode drivers that load at boot-up and create files/folders/registry entries in various locations.I have read from other users that Norton has made improvements in newer versions of their software so they are not as resource heavy as past versions...while others still say differently. Those issues plus the cost factor are the primary reason many folks look for a free alternative. IMO, Norton is better utilized in an Enterprise system environment protecting many client computers. With that said, there are a lot of folks who prefer using Norton (especially if it came preinstalled) and there is nothing wrong with staying with a product you are satisfied with.Norton Security Standard, Deluxe and Premium (formerly Norton Internet Security) are suites which means they include additional features in addition to anti-virus protection. Some of those extra features will also consume resources and affect performance. Symantec Endpoint Protection includes many of the same features but is intended for small businesses with several computers and servers.I'm not an advocate of suites. All-in-one tools and suites are filled with extra features (including "bells... Read more

hi.i just purchased kaspersky internet security 7 and i was wondering if i should aslo download adaware or does kis provide enough protection.

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 7

No single product is 100% foolproof and can detect and remove all threats at any given time. The security community is in a constant state of change as new malware infections appear. Each vendor has its own definition of what constitutes spyware and scanning your computer using different criteria will yield different results. The fact that each program has its own definition files means that some malware may be picked up by one that could be missed by another. Thus, a multi-layered defense using several anti-spyware products (including an effective firewall) to supplement your anti-virus provides the most complete protection.Instead of Ad-aware, I would recommend using SUPERAntiSpyware Free. The free version does not run in real-time mode...a purchased upgrade to the "Professional" version is required before this option can be activated. See Free vs Pro Comparison Features.

I have had problems with Zone Alarm and am looking for something else. Kaspersky reviews seem pretty good, but this is what Zone Alarm has put in its new version and it is interminably slow, and updates itself every hour, which slows everything else to a crawl. Does Kaspersky Internet Security do this too? Is there any support if things go wrong?

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security

I always prefer to get my AV, firewall and anti-spyware applications from different, and more focused, vendors, rather than use an all-in-one application. This seems to avoid the inevitable programming gunk involved in the mesalliance caused by acquisitions. Here is a link to several good (and free) firewalls; I have used both Sygate and Comodo with very good results:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.htmlRegards,John

Anyone out there tried installing/ using the full 180 day free version of KIS 6.0 that came free with the Dec 2006 PC Advisor magazine? The magazine refers to using the activation code during the installation process. I am a bit unhappy about this since it involves being logged onto the internet after removing my previous security software (NIS 2003)and before - presumably - being properly protected by KIS.Am I worrying unnecessarily? I see from the online Kaspersky manual that there are other options for activation that do not seem to involve installing while online, but I would then be concerned about not following the PC Advisor route. Can anyone comment?

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0

No, but I had intended to.Personally I do not worry too much about the lack of NIS or KIS protection initially. The brief period when you are on the internet before the installation is completed, you are covered by Windows firewall anyway, before its turned off by the installation where NIS or KIS replaces it.

Hi all.

I recently reloaded Kaspersky AV v7, but during the process KAV said it wasn't compatible with Comodo firewall. So, I ended up uninstalling Comodo to install KAV. I was going to try reinstalling Comodo, but first I wanted to check with folks to see if anyone is using Kaspersky Internet Suite, KIS, which has a firewall. I was thinking of switching from KAV to KIS. I read one review saying that the Kaspersky firewall is one of the best out there. Anyone have any experience with it? Anyone else running KAV and Comodo? Thanks.

Hi, I tried Kasperski online and I must say it discovered virusses that my Norton did not found. It looks like it is a great anti-virus scanner.I don't know about the firewall. One thing I know is that I switched off my windows firewall because Norton has one imbedded and this works out well. So buy Kasperski with firewall if you want.

Has anyone here tried Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0? I've just popped to aria computers to pick up some ram for Bex's PC (~£22 for 2x256 DDR3700) and saw this for less around £8.

It was an OEM version of course, but if it is much better than AVG I can't really complain. I didn't get it, but may do when I next go back. It appears to be their normal AV plus a firewall and a few other things.

From what I've heard it is one of the best, but if anyone here has some experience please do let me know

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0

Ady has just finished an eval of KAV, but I'm not sure of the version. We are both on NOD32 for now.

KAV Internet Security 6 has had some very good reports ... catching 100% of almost everything thrown at it ... it's an "all-in-one" package, and, it will slow-down a less-than-up-to-date PC ... it does a lot of real-time checks, a bonus in my book.

I keep hyping on about AVG, it really is a very slow AV when it comes to updating to new in-the-wild nasties ... good AVs should be able to update several times a day, and KAV will do that every 3 hours.

If you would be a good sport, go get me a copy ... I'll pop a check in the post.

Greetings,
My PC started doing things like changing settings (Graphics reset to 4 bit) and creating new odt documents or changing rtf to odt. KIS 2010 scans found nothing at first, then stopped with "encountered a problem and must close" or "Data Excription Protection messages. I uninstalled Kaspersky. I ran AVZ and I thnk it killed the active malware. After AVZ finished, I rebooted and got "Unknown hardware found" and "Do you want to install this hardware?" messages. I didn't allow the install and disabled it in hardware manager. (It was under unknown hardware with a ! symbol.) I tried to reinstall KIS but it kept aborting. Then I ran Kaspesky Rescue Disc (Sent to me by Kaspersky)- that took 19 hrs with "Nothing Detected". Then I tried to reinstall KAV 2010 again. This time it said install sucessful and to reboot Computer. Upon reboot, when Kaspersky was loading, Kaspersky's messages popped up saying "Some Componants Cannot be Enabeled". I then when I ran the stand alone Kaspersky removal clean up tool sent to me by Kaspersky messages popped up "Error loading %InstDir%Kav.bav. The module cannot be found" and " Error loading %InstDir%\Kav.tbp The module cannot be found" followed by a message saying removal was seccussful. Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security

I purchased KIS 2010 a little over a week ago and it has been nothing but a pain in my neck ever since then. I strongly recomend that you follow another path to removing your malware. And to it now. I am a little more familiar with the process as outlined for adware removal at majorgeeks.com.. But I am sure there are excelent instructions somewhere here as well..

When I got KIS working the Scan took over two days and did not catch the Vundo variant that I had on my computer. Thank goodness I did see something in a popup that made me curious and I downloaded and ran SuperAntiSpyware... it scanned much faster than KIS and it caught a whole bunch of things that KIS 2010 did not. My next steps are going to be to run malwarebytes.. possibly followed by combofix and mgtools.exe.

Kaspersky has gone downhill fast. I purchased a CD over the internet had it delivered and installed it... A scan would not complete.. So I downloaded the latest version on their site with not much improvement.. The very next day another updated version was available so I dowloaded that and installed it as advised... I have been doing nothing but downloading, installing and scaning with that piece of junk for more than a week now, and despite all that effort it still failed to catch the Vundo variant I had on my computer. I had 16 files, 5 registry entries and 1 memory item detected by SuperAntiSpyware that KIS 2010 MISSED.

I am now going to go through the entries here and try to figure out what th... Read more

I'm looking to upgrade to KIS, i would like to know does KIS update itself silently in the background?. does it bombard you with take action messages all the time?

My system is Dual Core 2.40 GHz and 3GB of RAM, will KIS slow down my PC?

What is the best version of KIS to get for Vista? - 09, 10 or 11?

How would you guys rate KIS overall?

Thanks

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security

Hello draven,

I have had KIS since '09. 2009 was good, 2010 really dropped the ball. I just upgraded to 11 last week. I have a Vista and upgrades were smooth until today. New patch issue. KIS just runs itself in the background if you set it to auto. (default) Updates, blocks etc. but it lets you know what it has done.

PC mag gave 11.0.1.400 great ratings on firewall, anti-virus protection, parental controls but it lacks great virus removal tools. Go with the 11. They have a trial version on their site. Try it free for 30 days, I believe.

Security suites use a lot of system resources so it is normal to slow down the computer. Also,if you have Vista, security will be tighter. Try going into the settings and reduce the security level down one level and check the firewall settings and unblock the websites you want to go to. Another option is to switch to NOD32 antivirus. I don't have the problems you mentioned.

Well then, I finished installing KIS 2012, it hasn't been RTM'd I think just yet but so far it is a GREAT improvement from KIS 2011. In fact, I'm doing a full scan right now and I haven't even noticed that it was even running! My system is currently running at 2.8Ghz.

The system requirements from what I've seen is only a 300Mhz pentium processor and 256MB of RAM, down from a 800Mhz pentium and 512MB RAM.

The interface has been fully redesigned for obvious tablet use, so that's a plus I guess. It's quite great to benefit from software that's designed for tablet use, you get a great overall system performance and little impact on resource too!

A+ in my opinion!!

Anyway I ended up finding a good offer for a 3 user, 1 year Kaspersky IS 2010 at $40 including shipping which seems as a pretty good offer. Now I'm thinking that it would be foolish to pass on such an offer.

Before I've used various AV's - latest have been a quite outdated eTrust one - but I haven't had much trouble really. I use my computers for browsing, gaming, word processing, online banking and shopping as well as downloading old sport matches....

I don't visit the grey sites of the internet - not intentionally at least, and I don't download much - if any - shareware and freeware stuff.

Anyway - I know that it's down to preference, but would an offer like the one for Kaspersky be an okay one, considering my computer habits - or should I stick to my initial approach of finding some freebie AV's? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

Answer:Kaspersky Internet Security 2010?

Bit Defender is nice because it has a "Game Mode" you can switch to.

They also have a free one here, ( don't think this one has game mode though)
http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-en--BitDefender-Free-Edition.html

I don't have any games on my PC - but I have used Bit Defender in the past, (if there is a registry cleaner in the tools section - don't use it- very dangerous)- other than that I liked it.
I also tried the new Kaspersky- didn't like the way it slowed me down, so I did a little research and am very happy with "Vipre" as it keeps my PC save and super fast.

I also use "ThreatFire" which is free and safe to run along any AV. It's really an AntiRooKit app but I tune the sensitivity level up to 4 and this notifies me if any one tries to backdoor me ( kinda a free firewall without all the hassle of other firewall apps), and it does not slow down the PC.

Hope this helps

I run Windows XP Home.I have just switched from using Norton 360 to Kaspersky Internet Security - largely on the strength of the good reports I've read in PCA and on this forum. However, there are a couple of things that I don't quite understand, and I wonder whether any experienced users of this software can advise me, please.1. For the first few days after installation, Kaspersky operated a POP3 mailbox checking routine. Whenever I opened Outlook 2000 to check my POP3 mailbox, Kaspersky would present me with a preview list of the emails waiting in my mailbox on my ISP's (Tiscali) server. I was then able to delete spam emails from the mailbox without downloading them, and allow the non-spam to download normally. A brilliant function! However, this has now stopped working (seemingly without any instruction from me to do so), and although I've trawled through all the Kaspersky settings, I can't seem to find how to switch it on again. Can anyone help, please?2. I have the firewall filtration system set to Training Mode, so that it learns what I do and/or do not want to allow into or out of my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions how long I should leave it in this mode, before returning it to automatic operation?I'll be very grateful for any advice. Thank you.

Hello there all, and firstly i'd like to thank EVERYONE for all the help that i get when i come online. Now I currently use a 6 months free edition of Kaspessky Internet Security 6.0..which came on an edition of PC Advisor..i think is superb...it does not expire till 28/08/2007,...BUT I've gone on the kspersky website....but it seems that as i've get 6 months free, that I cannot even register on the site.....even though i have a license number that comes with my 6 months free subscription....I'm ready to purchase the FULL YEAR pncewhen my free subscription ends....but i do not wish to REMOVE the current version i have now, as i've heard rumours you have to totally uninstall kaspersky....as i'ce had problems doing this in the past....just need general advice...or correct links. thanks

Answer:Renewing My Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0

I don't use that one, but if you have any qualms about removing your existing security, all you have to do is download and save. then go off line.remove your old stuff and install the new.as you obviously had no trouble installing your present security, you should have no problem installing the new.Somebody may give you some info about the correct way to uninstall your present stuff, without problem. It obviously has to be uninstalled if that's what they recommend.all the best.
