Kaspersky Zeta shield & other security software

Question: Kaspersky Zeta shield & other security software

Hello!
I recently read that Zeta shield has come to Kaspersky home products. More info here:
https://blog.kaspersky.com/introducing-zeta-your-protection-from-advanced-attacks/

Is this technology really helpful for a home user, and are there any other home AV products that have an equivalent function?

Preferred Solution: Kaspersky Zeta shield & other security software

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Kaspersky Zeta shield & other security software

I believe, ZETA is unique to Kaspersky home (2014+) and server products. No idea if other vendors have a similar approach, but as seen with ZETA, it originates from their server security software.

ZETA Shield follows another KIS 2014 debutante imported from our heavy-duty corporate products ? Trusted Applications. ZETA also first appeared in our corporate solutions, where it?s more than proven its worth and has now been adapted for use in personal products. And as far as I know, it?s the world?s first use of such technology in personal products.
ZETA?s work can be divided into two stages.

First comes the mechanical bit ? the target needs to be taken to pieces. For instance a Word document might contain embedded items ? other files, flash data, other documents, even an operating system distribution or a collection of viruses ? anything at all! Our task is to identify the nature of all these items (and boy how they love to disguise themselves!) and classify them.

Then it gets more interesting? The heuristic analyzer kicks in ? weighing up the contents, the layers of nesting, and the relationships among all these items, evaluating their similarity to templates of threats detected earlier, detecting anomalies, and taking a decision about how dangerous a given file is (whether or not it?s a binary weapon).
First of all, one important point:
There?s a common view that targeted attacks are always aimed at governments, defense organizations, critical infrastructure installations or politicians, while if aimed at commercial companies ? then at least those the size of Microsoft. Also, it?s often thought that the mind-boggling complexity of such at... Read more

I just bought a new PC with Vista Home Premium and a trial version of Norton Internet Security 2007. Being not very experienced, I need to rely on the advice of others to decide which security software to buy.

Norton Internet Security 2007 got great reviews on CNet and PCMag, but I've personally heard some pretty negative things firsthand. These include stories about serious installation problems, drag on system resources, a malfunctioning firewall, the futility of trying to remove all traces of it during installation, and its inability to coexist with other spyware programs on your computer. Some of this doesn't come as a surprise to me: I've had trouble removing pieces of Norton Antivirus in the past, and if what I suspect is right, it's refusing to let me use Ad-Aware 2007 right now (it just says "lost connection with Ad-Aware" every time I try to use it).

I've been using Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005 up until now, and I've liked it a lot. It places very little drag on system resources and, AFAIK, gets the job done with regard to virus protection. Reviewers on CNet didn't like their latest product, 'Trend Micro Antivirus Plus Antispyware 2007' because apparently it's great with spyware but soft on virus protection. Nevertheless, I've had a very knowledgeable person tell me to stick with Trend Micro and just avoid Norton like the plague.

And then there's Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6, which got great reviews pretty much all-around. I don't have a... Read more

Answer:What Security Software Should I Get? Norton? Trend Micro? Kaspersky?

Hi,

You can try using eScan AV (Anti-Virus), I have used nearly all the softwares that the security industry could throw up. I found eScan to live up to the features listed, unlike all others. Other than this eScan is a great gift to home pc or single pc users as it is the Antivirus software which uses the least amount of sysstem resources.

Also if you go for the older versions some software firms don't provide compatibility (with updates meant for newer versions), or the older software might just expire as softwares chk the date on your system during the first run and setting up your system clock doesn't help.

Also about OEMs, they are fine as long as you can pickup how the software works, as you have no manuals or guides to instruct you. Anyways you could always use the HELP option.

If you are looking for a software that is basic and free to use I suggest AVG (though it doesn't even have 1/2 of the features others offer).

But for better protection, ease on system resources, user friendliness and customization, I would strongly suggest using eScan Antivirus, Virus Control or ISS depending on the level of protection you want.

Hi, really sorry if this is the wrong place or the wrong kind of forum to ask these kind of questions (alot of you guys seem like pros haha)

My Kaspersky AV licence is up and i'm looking at buying Total Security for another year and saw on Kaspersky website this new software they are calling Kaspersky Security cloud. The page for my knowledge is a little vague and it just looks kind of like Total Security repackaged.

Is there any crucial differences in KTS and this new Security cloud that would benefit me buying that instead?

Thanks for your time

Answer:Kaspersky Total Security or Kaspersky Security Cloud

Are you referring to Endpoint Security Cloud? If so it's for business customers only. If you're referring to something else could you please link to it.

If you're happy with KTS then I see no reason why you shouldn't renew it.

Windows 10 64 Pro Anniversary Build Latest Update
Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 Latest Update
No other RealTime security software.

My portable programs SecurMyBit, VidCoder, etc... were under "Low Restricted" in Application Control.
I move them to "Trusted" in AC.
After couple of days, the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".
When I run the programs, they appear under "Low Restricted" And I again move them to "Trusted" But after couple of days the same mentioned above i.e the programs rules are neither in "Trusted" or "Low Restricted".

Is it a bug or bug on Windows 10 64 or bug in KIS 2017 or ............?

Any info?

Any Kaspersky users experience the above?

Answer:Kaspersky Application Control - Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 bug?

Yes, this happens & not only in 2017 but in earlier versions as well.

I experience it as well, but not quite often as you are. Mine comes when i am disconnected from internet for a while & then connect again, then (i guess) KSN checks the app control rules again & places them (apps) as described in the KSN rule-set.

The problem come from the setting 'Load rule for applications from KSN' in application control, which is enabled by default.

This shouldn't be a problem if you are using default settings (Auto-mode) as Low restricted is basically Trusted in auto-mode. But if you use interactive mode, this causes a lot of prompts which can be quite annoying.

Kaspersky Lab Presents a New Version of Kaspersky Small Office Security to Reflect Modern Needs of Small Business
Kaspersky Lab announces its latest edition of the Kaspersky Small Office Security, the company?s security solution built specifically for businesses with fewer than 25 employees. This solution provides world-class protection and easy use without the need for specialist IT skills. New features make it easier to focus valuable resources on running and developing the business while keeping operations, customer?s and employee?s data secure.

Nowadays, small businesses are frequently becoming prey for cybercriminals because they generally pay less attention for cybersecurity while housing increasingly valuable data. According to recent survey results, the share of companies that allow usage of personal employee?s devices within the corporate network has grown to 62% in 2014. At the same time, although businesses realize that customer?s personal information (25%), payment requisites (13%) and trade secrets (12%) are among top priorities of their information security needs, they keep taking very basic protective measures, relying, for example, on free anti-malware products. Respondents indicated that they desire a powerful, but simple and easy-to-use security solution that would come at an affordable price.

Kaspersky Small Office Security is equipped with enterprise-grade technologies, but it was designed specifically to serve the needs of very small bu... Read more

Hi Geeks. Hope you're all having a geeky day! Anyhow, I searched the boards here pretty thoroughly and couldn't find any Major Geek opinions of the Kaspersky Active Virus Shield now being offered free by AOL. I went to (another place) and read a bunch of ops, but was hoping for some 'critiques from the geeks.' (BTW I just coined that phrase.) I've read about licensing probs, and internet access probs after install, so I'm not gonna uninstall my AVG free just yet. Thanks in advance for any input.

Answer:Opinions on Kaspersky Active Virus Shield free

Kaspersky is a good program! I'm a little confused though! I thought AOL packaged McAfee as their antivirus program.

However, I would avoid anything that has been integrated into AOL's software. You would be better off having the real full package of software from the original creator.

So basically I only installed the behavior shield from the avast installation wizard. I was thinking having Kaspersky as my main AV along with avast's behavior blocker is a good set up. However, admittingly I am a novice, and I don't know if these two will clash. So far, everything seems to be going smoothly, but the WD notification icon is displaying that X and is saying I shouldn't have more than one AV installed. Thanks.

Answer:Using Kaspersky free with only Avast Behavior Shield installed.

I personally think it should work ok running these 2 programs if Avast is only enabled for behavior blocking.

As far as I know, the main difference is that KAV does not have Application Control, but Kaspersky Internet Security does.
Does this make a big difference in protection?
I am asking because I want to combo Kaspersky with an app that has a HIPS component, so I need to use KAV rather than KIS.

Answer:how good Internet Security Kaspersky AntiVirus, as compared to Kaspersky Internet Security?

Application control and Trusted Applications Mode are a great additional layer of protection. Which app do you want to add to Kaspersky? IMO KIS would be the best. TAM is really great.

If you come from Bitdefender then I would recommend you KIS2016, quite light; very effective. ESET is also a good option, Emsisoft same stuff. If you like smooth and less interactive protection ESET and Kaspersky would be better, Emsisoft is cool but a bit more interactive IMO.

Earlier I was using Bitdefender and thought Bitdefender was the number 1 and Kaspersky is the number 2. But After coming to this forum I realized that the reality is completely different! Some products have trouble working with Windows 10, some have trouble protecting 64bit systems. I did some digging and settled with two products. Kaspersky and ESET. Im using a Windows 10 64 bit system. What product might be the best for such a setup?

Answer:ESET Smart Security 9 vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 for Win 10 64bit

For purely protection basis you may go to ESET SS 9 as you can tweak the HIPS for protection and their Sandbox (Banking) + so far the architecture (x64) isn't affected from performance.

KIS 2016 is a promising suite, however until now limited components working from prevention due to Windows 10 environment which the developers make a note to fix those issues; but overall a balance concept where you can tweak more from numerous components.

Somehow the system impact tends to be consistent as light for ESET than Kaspersky.

Still brace yourself to see those possible unique characteristics.

Answer:[Behavior Blocker] Norton Security vs Kaspersky Internet Security 2016

As for Kaspersky, I have not used it since about 2009 when it was Kaspersky PURE so I cannot really comment. But as for Norton, it blocks unknown files it doesn't have a HIPS as such but any program being stupid of trying to access websites and files they shouldn't get blocked by SONAR their zero-day and zero-hour malware component.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is a capable product which delivers everything you?d expect from a security suite: antivirus, firewall, browsing protection, a spam filter and more. The technology scores highly with the independent testing labs, too, so we were interested to see what the new build had to offer.

Installation was quick and easy. Unlike some of the competition, you?re not forced to remove anything else vaguely security-related: Kaspersky warns you about possible conflicts, but whether you uninstall any problem programs is up to you.

The interface looks a little different to previous editions -- lighter, more subdued -- but it feels very similar. Four large buttons give access to key areas (Scan, Update, Safe Money, Parental Control), and links give one-click access to your settings and a list of other tools. It?s all very straightforward, and even newcomers to Kaspersky should quickly find what they need.

We did have a few issues with the initial setup, with for example our spam filter being turned off by default. Fortunately this wasn?t difficult to spot, or fix: click Settings > Protection Center, every protective layer is listed, and you?re able to disable or enable them with a click. It only took a few moments, and we were ready for testing.

Antivirus
Kaspersky cloud-assisted antivirus technology is highly rated by independent testing labs, and it?s not difficult to see why. As we write, AV-Test?s latest reports show the Kaspersky 2014 d... Read more

Also Amazon has prior year versions of Norton and Kaspersky available for substantial savings.

Answer:Norton Security Deluxe vs Kaspersky Internet Security

Although Norton (Symantec) is as good as any other well known anti-virus program, it is costly, requires numerous services and running processes that consume system resources and often results in complaints of high CPU usage. Anti-virus software components insert themselves deep into the operating systems core where they install kernel mode drivers that load at boot-up and create files/folders/registry entries in various locations.I have read from other users that Norton has made improvements in newer versions of their software so they are not as resource heavy as past versions...while others still say differently. Those issues plus the cost factor are the primary reason many folks look for a free alternative. IMO, Norton is better utilized in an Enterprise system environment protecting many client computers. With that said, there are a lot of folks who prefer using Norton (especially if it came preinstalled) and there is nothing wrong with staying with a product you are satisfied with.Norton Security Standard, Deluxe and Premium (formerly Norton Internet Security) are suites which means they include additional features in addition to anti-virus protection. Some of those extra features will also consume resources and affect performance. Symantec Endpoint Protection includes many of the same features but is intended for small businesses with several computers and servers.I'm not an advocate of suites. All-in-one tools and suites are filled with extra features (including "bells... Read more

I am looking for some help and advice from my fellow forum members. I'm currently using Zone Alarm Internet Security and it's due to expire in 30 days. I've been thinking about changing to either Kaspersky Internet Security or ESET Smart Security for a number of reasons.

Firstly, both products seem to offer excellent independent anti virus products. Secondly, I prefer whole integrated suites and I know one of the criticisms is the large memory and CPU consumption that they use. However, these two products seem to have a relatively small memory footprint.

I was just wondering if anybody had used either of these products and how they found them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it's better to remove any other antivirus prior to install a new one. Reason is that two active antivirus scanning the system at the same time may conflict between them and unnecessarily slow down your system.

Always have only one antivirus doing on-access system scanning. Keeping MSE or anything else just for on-demand scans is fine.

OK.. So I saw some stupid commercial about Catherine Zeta Jones and she was talking with some funny accent I never recalled hearing before... so I called her a fake and a phony. My husband, Like any good red blooded American male, decided to defend her honor! Boy! Did she bite us both! He went to some god for saken stupid celebrity website and now my computer is badly infected!! That wretch!!

Anyway... I took off from work yesterday to nurse my poor ailing computer... My google searches were bombarded with Simpli.com and enhancemysearch.com hijacks and I had so many popups you'd think it was the fourth of July! Anyway..I already had Spy-bot... so I ran that... Got rid of a couple of adware thingys (sorry I'm a newbie to this crap thanks to Ms. Jones) so far so good.. but still all the search problems and just a few of the popups... So I search and search and I come to this forum... I look at the forum where people are having the same issues... so I follow in their foot steps since my HJT log is 3 some odd pages...
I found 3 or four deletable items (according to what was posted under the thread ENhancemysearch won't go away) and got rid of them... somewhere else I read to run another program called Adaware... so I download that and run that (which by the way takes FOREVER after running HJT)... I also did some dusting and cleaning, take out the trash... delete cookie and temp files blah blah blah... Running new lists HJT logs all the time (cause they're so ... Read more

Question: Security Shield

I followed instructions from the following url:
http://malwaretips.com/blogs/security-shield-virus/
until the end of step 4 (malwarebytes)
the issues that came up are as follows:
1) without internet access, i was unable to download the files myself and had to transfer them via memory stick after downloading on my currently functional computer
2) during step 2, IE never had the option checked for "use a proxy server for your LAN" (i.e. it was already unchecked). Firefox also did not have any proxy server established but I went ahead and clicked on "no proxy". It should be noted that the internet was able to access at that point my proper home page at that point, although I did not do any further web surfing to see if there was continued access to other websites.
3) During step 4, malwarebytes was unable to update (the update would simply "time out"). I went ahead and ran walwarebytes (withou a reboot beforehand, as per the instructions). After running for well over an hour, it detected several infections. Only the first box was unchecked. I checked the box so that all were checked and clicked on "remove selected" -- at that point the program appeared to freeze. I waited for quite a while and went ahead and restarted (in normal mode).
Unfortunately it led me back to right where I started (with security shield pop-ups). I did not complete any further subsequent steps.
Please assist.
Also, of note, when I ran OTL, at the end there was an er... Read more

Question: Security Shield

Win7 x64

This pc was brought to me in its current state.

Security Shield virus was infecting it, friend ran a thing or two - Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware - and thought he was good.

PC looks alright except it is imposible to connect via ethernet to any network. Wireless appears to be alright here at my place.

Looking for some advice/guidance.

I've already run Tweaking.com's Windows repair tool for all applicable feature sets.

Ran all the requested scans. Hitman pro wouldn't run without the network connection and I'm without wireless at this location. See attached. I did find one of his old MalwareBytes scans that is related to this event.

Answer:Security Shield

Really never planned to bump this at all, but I did finally get Hitman to go through.

I have been recieving SECURITY SHIELD popups for this program telling me I have 9 malicious programs, 16 viruses, 7 adwares, 1 spyware, and 1 tracking cookie. This pop up keeps telling me I have to purchase their program to get rid of these. Please Help

Answer:Security Shield

Hello and welcome. Security Shield is a rogue anti-spyware program from the same family as Security Tool. This rogue is installed through other malware and fake online anti-malware scanners. When installed, Security Shield will be configured to start automatically when Windows starts. Once started, it will perform a scan of your computer and state that there are numerous infections present on your computer. If you attempt, though, to remove any of these so-called infections the program will state that you first need to purchase it. In reality, all of the files it states are infections are legitimate Windows files. Therefore, do not manually delete any of the files it states are infections as you may cause Windows to not operate correctly. Please follow our Removal Guide here Remove Security Shield or SecurityShield (Uninstall Guide) .You will move to the Automated Removal InstructionsAfter you completed that, post your scan log here, let me know how things are.The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.

Hiya puggmama,

Boot into safe mode with networking:

Please download Rkill and save to your Desktop.

Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If you get an alert from Security Shield that RKill is a threat, leave that alert open and re-run RKill again.

Step 2

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Alernative D/L mirror
Alternative D/L mirror

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

I got infected with Security Shield and followed the steps on this site to remove it. I wasn't able to install rkill because my computer didn't allow me. I downloaded all the different kinds provided but when I double click the icon on my desktop, my computer doesn't allow it. I rebooted my computer and set it on safe mode. After that, I fully scanned my computer as the directions told me to with Malware. I followed the rest of the instructions but when my computer restarted itself, Security Shield was still active and it continues to pop up windows. Again, I tried to download rkill under a different name like someone told me to do but it didn't work as before. Please help if you can.

My aunt has an older windows xp laptop. She is getting popups from security shield. I read the guide on the site I tried to run MBAM, but it wouldn't let me do anything pretty much.. then I did rkill (after the shield window had already popped up, that was the only way I could get anything to run) and it said it disabled some stuff so I ran MBAM again. it still shows no infected files, but every time I clicked on ANYTHING, the stupid security shield was popping up. I just rebooted the computer and so far it's not showing anything, but MBAM didn't remove anything so I am nervous.. She has left the laptop with me

Question: Security Shield...

Hi Guys

Today I was on a popular sport website and this programme called Security Shield came up and somehow installed itself. I've had a search on here and see it's quite a common problem. Basically I just wanna run by you what action I took and whether i'm likely to be left with any issues still.

I used a youtube video guide to remove it. I downloaded and ran RKill, then Malwarebytes, did the scan and it picked up 2 virues. I wiped them, restarted and here I am now. The thing is, I didn't do this in 'safe mode with networking', I just did it in my normal log on. Is that a problem? Will my PC be completely clear now? I have McAfee and that didn't pick anything up, waste of money!

On one youtube video they said if you get Security Shield on your PC, it means you've probably had a virus/trojan on your PC for a week or two! Is that true as i've used credit/debit cards online in the past fortnight...

Thanks for your help.

Question: Security Shield

There are dozens of sites that deal with removing this fake software. They all recommend Spyware Doctor. But I cannot follow their instructions. That is because Spyware Doctor refuses to remove Security Shield until I pay.

Nowhere on these sites does it mention payment or that it should be anything other than a free download. Nowhere does anyone else with this malware say they eventually had to pay. So why is it just me?

I am working overtime in the office and don't have the authority to spend the company's money on Spyware Doctor. I need to remove this malware that is slowing down my PC right now, so that I can continue working.

Majorgeeks has always come up with solutions before. So, can someone here please, please tell me how I can remove Security Shield under my present circumstances without being charged money I have no access to?

Thanxxx, Jon DeMassey

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

my computer has the virus, i cant open a page or anything from my computer .. i am using a freinds now.. how do i get rid of this.. thanks

Answer:security shield

Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

Rkill.exe
Rkill.com
Rkill.scr
Rkill.pif
Once you've gotten one of them to run then try to immediately run the following.

If you are having problems running Rkill, try downloading one of these renamed copies of RKill.com
iExplore.exe
eXplorer.exe
uSeRiNiT.exe
WiNlOgOn.exe

Now download and Run exeHelper

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com
Attach the log.txt file to your next message.
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Also please try running the below online scan:

I'm using an HP with Windows 7.

I downloaded Firefox from Mozilla's site yesterday and added a few add ons and that was it. Today I had "My Shield Security" take over my computer. I got into safe mode and ran a quick scan with my Microsoft antivirus and it appears to be gone. I also did a system restore to a few weeks back, just to be on the safe side.

Then I got on my internet (via IE) and tried to go to gmail. When the log in page popped up I noticed the favicon was different so I went to Google's main page and it looked normal. Then I clicked gmail from there and it took me to my email without me logging in. When I clicked Account Settings I was logged out.

I cleared my cookies, temp files, etc. and Google still automatically logged me in. I checked some other accounts and I was logged out on some and I was still logged in to my Amazon account, which I thought was weird. Amazon.com also looked like it got a facelift, but when I looked at it on another computer it still had the same design.
So I unistalled IE9 and now I'm on IE8, but I cannot reinstall IE9, it fails every time. None of the problems were solved by doing that either. (In safe mode now, they are all looking back to normal though)
As I'm posting this I am running Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Is that enough or is there something else to totally get rid of that trojan? Microsoft Security Essentials already found and deleted several corrupt files. Will that do the trick? Or do I... Read more

I started getting pop-ups from My Security Shield (MSS) saying my computer, Windows XP, and files were infected with a virus, all of the web sites I tried to go to MSS would pop up saying that there was a risk in opening the web page. They could fix the problems for $$$. I ran Sambot Search & Destroy multiple times to identify possible virus and malware, cleaned my computer but MSS just poped up again. How can I remove this?

According to my wife, she was browsing Google links when she got hit by a virus. She knew the program "My Security Shield" was not legit (in the past I stressed that there are trojans that tries to act like legit anti-virus or anti-spyware but really aren't). She tried to start up AVG, which she knows is legit, but said she couldn't. She immediately turned the computer off, and informed me so I can get to it later.I powered up the computer after getting rid of antennas from the wireless card in the back (in hopes that it doesn't go online), and as soon as Windows finishes booting up, I also immediately disabled the wireless card, so now it is completely offline.A window also came up, titled "My Security Shield". A quick Google search confirms my fear that this is not a legit program. Other things observed: 1) AVG-Free would also not start up for me.2) Unable to do CTRL+ALT+DEL for some reason (so I can't take a look at running processes)3) A "add new hardware" wizard came up, but I canceled out of it - it is possible this is already happening before virus hit, so maybe it has nothing to do with virus. Keeping this short and sweet, but containing enough details before I proceed (I have used bleepingcomputer.com previously to remove virus from my own computer. Hopefully I followed all guidelines posted here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic41987.htmlAnd once again, thanks in advance!

Answer:My Security Shield

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have on... Read more
