Preferred Solution: google taken over by yahoo and lots of chrome.ex*32 files in task manager

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Helllo,

My name is Argus and and I will be helping you with your computer problems.

Before we begin, please note the following:

I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
Instructions that I give are for your system only!
Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not be able to help you if you do not follow my instructions.

I'm trying to fix my mother-in-law's little Toshiba netbook. They were reporting that it ran incredibly slowly, and when I looked in task manager, I saw lots of browser.exe items that reported to be running in Chrome, but Chrome isn't even installed on the computer.

I ran the Malware protocol, but had trouble getting some of the logs. Roguekiller didn't put a log on the desktop as expected from the instructions. I think I messed up the Malwarebytes one because it didn't happen exactly as the instructions said it would and I missed my chance. I didn't want to re-run it because the instructions said not to. When I opened TDSSkiller, it said "Cannot initialize log". I ran it anyway but sure enough I didn't get a log. HitmanPro and MGLogs are attached.

I basically want permission to start all over and run the whole protocol again.

Thank you for your help.

Answer:Lots of Browser.exe's in Task Manager but Chrome not even installed

Try re running both RogueKiller and Malware Bytes please and see if you can get us the logs.

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,
I have almost exactly the same problem running on my computer. I have run zoek, malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner and I still have the problem. Rather than create a new post in the forum I have just replied to this post since it seems so similar. I have now run Farbar and have attached the two logs. I also included a pic of my task manager showing the processes that keep loading. Can you help me? Thank you!

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

Hi, I just found a neat little feature in Google Chrome and I'd like to share it with others who might not have noticed it.

First you'll click the wrench in the top-right of your browser.

Then navigate to the option 'View Background Pages'

Then in the open window you can manage the processes Chrome is currently using. To get a more detailed look click the 'Stats for nerds' option.

And you should find yourself at a page that looks like this:

Hope this helps!

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Hi,

I noticed a few days ago that my computer was running slow.  I opened the task manager and noticed that the dllhost.exe*32 was in my Task manager over 20 times.  I ran my antivirus and nothing came up, I have both Malware, and Comodo.  I read through some removal logs and found one that was the same issue as mine basically.  I downloaded the Farber Recovery Scan Tool.  At first, I didn't read ALL the way through it and ended up downloading someone else's fixlist.txt that was part of a reply.  At the time I just figured it was a blanket fix for everyone, didn't realize it was for that specific computer.  So I pressed fix and it seemed to work......temporarily.  I also deleted Chrome but it still pops up in my Task Manager although I don't have the program.

So...now I have read more and am going to do this the right way.  I ran a new scan and am including it in the post.  Hopefully someone can help me fix the problem.  I really appreciate all the help.

I have a HP Pavillion dm4, 64 bit, running Windows 7 Home Premium

Here are my logs:
 Addition.txt   40.46KB
  4 downloads

 FRST.txt   82.95KB
  5 downloads

 Shortcut.txt   81.92KB
  1 downloads

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much,

Mik

When I restart from Sleep, I have windows open that look like a browser with various ads in them. I looked in my task manager and saw a number of Chrome processes named Wgvsgnxdj.exe *32 that use about 20% of the CPU. When I end the processes, they restart on their own. The processes are all located in the AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/zqjpwqzm folder.

Can you please help me out? I have scanned with MalwareBytes, MaAfee, SpyBot 2, and tdsskiller. None of these have found anything.

I have attached FRST scan logs.

Thank You!

Hello, I've seen a few topics relating to my problem but wasn't sure if the steps are exactly the same for each person or if they are customized from problem to problem.

I'm running windows 7 and as other users have stated, my computer was running slowly, freezing up periodically and minimizing programs I was using. I checked task manager and at that time I saw many dllhost with description COM surrogate running, and trying to end the processes they just kept appearing again. At that time I had AVG as my antivirus and malwarebytes. Only AVG detected the file but it could not delete it. I then uninstalled AVG and changed my antivirus to Bitdefender and that seemed to have stifled the symptoms although I don't believe it ever fixed the problem. My computer was running smoothly for about a week and now I have a filename uirrvmzweu.exe with description google chrome. My computer symptoms are about the same as they were when the dllhost process was running. They both act very similar as far as I can see.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

I have a Windows 7 Lenovo laptop that is running very slow.  I ran virus scans, including Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I have noticed in Task Manager that there are several processes running with a description of "Google Chrome".

The exe file is in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Sun\ folder. This exe cannot be deleted since there is a lock on it. Even if I kill the processes from Task Manager, they regenerate faster than I can delete.

Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

I am experiencing the same issues as some of your other users with a Fake Google Chrome process residing my Task Manager screen. My issue on my Laptop began yesterday, after I tackled removing a dllhost.exe issue over the weekend. I thought I had done well to get rid of it, using information from your forum, but then this file showed up the next day.My file is titled "Immytfefs.exe" and it states that it resides in the "C:\Users\User\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\nmvkurfye" directory. It says it is a Google Chrome process, but I have uninstalled that program, and it is still there. I have Norton360 and MalwareBytes running, and neither detect this issue. I have downloaded your FARBAR Recovery Tools and ran the process to create the First and Addition files. and will attempt to upload them with this issue request. I had been using AVG & found it adequate. I got this computer in fall 2009 with Windows 7 32-bit on it. Since then, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials. But it never found anything, until this month.Nov 21, I decided to try AVG again. D/Led the 30 day trial version & ran it. It found 4 Trojans in less than an hour. There was a "buy right now" sales pitch - pushy already; I was suspicious. Deleted AVG on 26th.Dec 30, I found right away that my computer is infected with a serious, really active bit of Malware/virus. I don't know its name; it apparently settles into or at least uses a directory in Windows ... C:\\Windows\sysWOW\dllhost.exe is said to be the culprit. MalwareBytes was continuously blocking "ads," I guess they are, generated by dllhost.exe? Try as I may, I've not been able to do anything about it.(Update: I bought & used Malwarebytes in 2014, March thru July I think. It used a lot of CPU while running. Slowed me down. I thoughtlessly deleted it ... at least, I think I did.)The very frequent message that Malwarebytes is blocking outgoing "stuff" must have been generated by the virus itself, as MWB wasn't on here at that time. My CPU was running at=close to 100%. The main user seemed to be C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe.Dec 31, MSE found something!: Trojan:Win32/Powessere.A!reg - "severe, active." I said Remove it.Jan 1, MSE found Trojan:Win32/Powessere.A!reg - "severe, active" again. I said Quarantine it. I was in over my head.I'd "lost" my tru... Read more

A fake Google chrome file and dllhost.exe 32 file keeps spamming my task manager. I downloaded the real "Google chrome" from Google so I could use the "Google chrome task manager" to get rid of it but it didn't work. I turned my thumbnail preview off and I haven't seen dllhost.exe 32* since but I'm not sure if its completely takin care of that problem. My temporary fix for the fake Google Chrome file right now is when it starts spamming my task manager I right-click on it> open file location> start logging off and when the force shutdown menu appears I click cancel. For some reason it completely vanishes from my task manager for a couple seconds when I start logging off. Then I go back to my "open file location" and quickly delete the file before it starts back up. This stops it from spamming me but I have to do it every time I get on my computer. Still looking for a permanent solution for it.

A customer of mine brought their personal laptop to me to look into why large amounts of data are being used up on their Verizon Hotspot.  This is a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop.  I ran multiple virus scans including ComboFix and Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I then noticed in Task Manager that there were multiple processes running that belonged to Google Chrome.  I then verified that Chrome is not even installed.  I found the running .exe file in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Google directory.  Rebooted into 'Safe Mode' and then removed the folder and then scanned the registry for the same .exe name and removed them as well.  I then restarted the pc and the files reappeared, this time in the Adobe directory rather than Google.  I repeated the steps above with the same results.  Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

Hello there,

I recently noticed my laptop running very slow, especially when using Youtube videos.  I deleted some old junk to free up some memory but that didn't help.  Defragged my laptop and ran several virus scans, but no improvment and nothing found on the scans.  I found a new program installed on my laptop called "Spigot Search Protection" which I uninstalled.  No improvement after this.  I then noticed about a dozen processes running on my Task Manager that appeared to be Google Chrome windows.  They were using up a ton of memory... and I use Firefox not chrome so I thought it was weird.  I uninstalled Google chrome, but they remained open and listed as google chrome programs.  I opened the file location and ran a virus scan directly, and it came back with no threats detected  (I ran Kaspersky). The image name for each process that is running is Lnzdypqnuf.exe*32 and appears as a GoogleChrome file.
At this time I did a Google search and came up with this website (it seems others have had the exact same problem).  I saw that each case should be handled specifically, so I decided to register and post instead of trying to figure it out myself.

If anyone can assist me with getting rid of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.  I have never downloaded a virus before, and do not open ads or clickbait on websites.  I do use Utorrent once in awhile and expect that is how I downloaded this vir... Read more

Hello,

First off, I'm a new member to the forum and I would like to express my sincere appreciation for help resolving this problem. I'm usually able to clean up malware but have not been successful in this case. As I've read through the furum, I've noticed other posts with a similar issue so this must be something new going around.

The issue I have is popups (always three windows) which became noticeable about five days ago and prompted my actions. I have two accounts on the infected PC and the issue is present on one account while the other account is free of the issue. As I investigated, I noticed a fake google chrome entry in the processes tab of the task manager. Its name is "cphngsji.exe*32" and its listed description is "google chrome." There are 10 to 15 entries in the task manager and it varies increasing and decreasing randomly. The randomly increasing and decreasing entries are visible and correspond to peaks and valleys in the CPU usage trace on the performance tab of the task manager. I also have an issue with the CPU fan running a great deal of the time when the infected account is active. This began several months ago and I now believe it is a result of this infection.

So far I have run my antivirus (McAfee), a tool called SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition. They were able to find and fix other bugs but not this one. I also ran a McAfee tool called 'GetSusp' which identified three PUP's and one Assumed Dirty ... Read more

Infections date probably on 10/26/2014. Fake google chrome processes (a lot of them) are running in the task manager, hogging memory and CPU. Computer is slow.

The process name is listed as Mjjckmsq.exe *32 in task manager, and is running from the location....
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList\Uuiputi\fzsdleeocr
.....as mentioned by task manager when I right-click on the process and ask to open file location.

This EmieUserList is a hidden folder and is not visible in the LocalLow folder even if I enable the "show hidden files and folders" option.

I have run the Farbar Recovery scan tool and have attached the results with this post.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help solve this problem.

Answer:Slow CPU with lots of svchost.exe running in Task Manager

What little malware you had was taken care of by the scans. Your logs are clean. You may wish to post in the software forum for assistance with your slow browser issue.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)

Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
"%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u

Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You ... Read more

I have been using my computer without any spyware/AV for the last 1 year now ...
Never been affected yet ...
But now, I have been facing this rather strange problem.

At first, it was the typical "Task manager has been disabled by your administrator: problem, which I solved by using some script that came up on googling my problem. But still, when I try to open the task manager, it opens very very slowly and is there for viewing for about 2-3 seconds after which it gets closed. Same is the problem with regedit too. Also, my system is running very slow. In the brief time that task manager would let me look at it, I saw atleast 7-8 notepad.exe processes running.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT. I do not want to lose my data (as most of it is in C: itself).

P.S. - I am not able to download Hijackthis from any site. Can this be the malware/TH/Virus acting up? Please do not redirect me to some other page for the solution as, believe me, I have gone through at least 10 sites where they had "similar" problems.

Answer:Task Manager was disabled, now running but lots of notepad.exe processes

I have 99.6 GB available and only 5.23GB used. Its a Compaq computer system that runs real slow here and there when task manager has two pages up or when loading pictures. A low memory warning comes up and says that some programs might not operate normally. Do I need to buy a new memory thing and what is it called lol. Kind of annoying to have task manager freeze up or close down every few minutes. Thank you kindly.

Answer:Low Memory and lots of space on my computer? But Task Manager runs slow?

When you say, "I have 99.6 GB available ..." I assume you are talking about hard drive storage space. The low memory warning has to do with the amount of RAM or hardware system memory that is on the motherboard. If you right click on "My Computer" and select properties, the information screen should show how much you now have installed.

When Windows and all of the programs you have running at the same time require more memory than what is installed, Windows starts to copy the chunks RAM content to and from the hard drive as needed. This constant transferring can bring the fastest computer to a dead crawl.

Most motherboards let you install more RAM Modules or replace smaller capacity modules with larger ones.

EDIT: The support section of the Compaq web site should be able to tell you exactly how much RAM was installed on the computer when it left their factory based on the model number and sometimes the serial number. The site would probably also list exactly what kinds of RAM modules are needed for expansion.

Apparently our family PC has been infected with the Many Google Chrome Processes bug - anywhere from 3 to 20 instances. After reading through a few forums it appears the solution may vary from case to case. The file location of the GoogleChrome process lead me to the hidden EmieBrowserModeList folder.

After running MBAM the GoodleChrome process are gone for now, but I'm not confident that all is well, so here are the log files. THANKS in advance!

I frequently have problems while using Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), and the severity is getting worse. I beleive my computer has been infected with something. After using IE for a short period, it becomes unresponsive i.e. I cannot open new window or new tab. It will also not allow me to right-click on anything in the existing open windows i.e. when I right-click, no menu pops up... there is no response to the right-click. Other programs also then become unresponsive, such as MS Word, and Windows in general. Also, after experiencing these problems, many programs will not open, and if i try to open HijackThis, i get an error message 'No Memory'. But, if after closing all the open windows, I open the task manager, I find the process iexplore.exe is still running and using a lot of memory! If I terminate the process, and then re-open IE, it will operate normally, however it will shortly get corrupted again.... It's and endless cycle, driving me insane! I am hoping you can help me by identifying anything suspicious in the log files, and advice on how to get rid of it.Please note that I have included 2 log files, the DDS file, and a log file that was obtained from directly running HijackThis.DDS (Version 1.1.0) - NTFSx86 Run by ADMIN at 20:31:29.65 on 04/01/2009Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.2600.3.1252.44.1033.18.2046.1348 [GMT 0:00]============== Running Processes ===============C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k DcomLaunch... I've noticed that I have two instances of "My Yahoo" running in my Task Manager applications. Each time I end task, they disappear and then reappear. But I am not running a browser. Answer:My Yahoo in Task Manager keeps reappearing

My yahoo is my normal homepage. The two generic icons in task manager show "My Yahoo" and now at times I get two popup messages notifying me of a 'script error' and do I want to continue running scripts etc.

When I try to end task, a message now appears that says "you have chosen to close a toolbar window".

Very strange. No problems slowing me down on the computer, but I just want to make sure nothing terrible is happening in the background.

I deleted Yahoo toolbars and others. I have scanned offline and online scanners. I have booted in safe mode, I have checked startup config, and I have WinPatrol and nothing looks wrong.

But maybe someone can help me?

Thanks,
Rick

Latest Google Chrome 4 Dev Release Fixes Lots Of Bugs

The current Google Chrome releases that are available for download can be cause for some real confusion as the official release version for the public is still Google Chrome 2 while the Google Chrome developers are already working on Google Chrome 4. The latest development release of the Google browser is Google Chrome 4.0.202.0. It fixes a few dozen bugs that have been discovered in previous versions of the web browser. Most of these bugs have affected Google Chrome on all operating systems while only two have been fixed for the Windows operating system exclusively.

Answer:Latest Google Chrome 4 Dev Release Fixes Lots Of Bugs

I didn't notice it, but I guess my Chrome updated itself. Just checked the About Google Chrome and it was already at 4.0.202.0 .

Ever since I did a clean install of my Windows 7 about 3 weeks ago, I have noticed that when I go to any website that has multiple pictures, my mouse freezes in the sense that I can't click on anything because it is busy and my task manager shows 50% of my CPU usage in a file named Chrome.exe *32. This never happened prior to my clean install. Why is it happening now? What would cause this?OS: Windows 7 64bit/Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bitCPU/Ram: E8500/8GB PC2-6400Manufacturer/Model: AVA Direct / Built online

Answer:50% cpu usage in Task Manager under Chrome.exe * 32

Maybe one of the installed plugins will cause this.Try to disable all plugins and restart Chrome. The enable the plugins step by step to figure out, which of them is the culprit. You can do this by typing:about:pluginsin the address bar.

Ok its been a fair few years since i was on here and figured id come back with something that currently is a little sensitive.

Does anyone know if its possible that a virus or rootkit could put things into a google chrome history if the user hasn't actually visited that site?

I wont post logs or anything as i realise this could sound silly and be a virus, however the short story is that i have discovered under my 10 year old daughters login on various days in between her playing online flash games , a list of google searches for some very disturbing things that are porn and worse searches.

AVG found nothing, Spybot found a few things, CCleaner cleaned up the cookies and temp etc and i have reset browsers and security and will monitor over the next few days going forward. Hijack this also to me looked clear. I also did TDDSKiller and was clean. Hosts file was also fine.

Any help or info would be appreciated as searching this forum and google didn't fully help me see if this was something others had experienced.

We have windows 8 with family safety report that comes through which alerted me to it, i then logged in and went back through the history and it goes back a good 2 months but isnt every day. Its only under her login and not my sons or my wifes.
Like i say I have done a clean, reset cache cookies etc and will monitor the next week or so in case but i guess i want someone to tell me its not that my daughter has searched for this kind of thing. Oh and I ha... Read more

Answer:Google Chrome History hijacked with lots of porn image searches

Chrome latest versions have preview or similar wording enabled by default
it is supposed to speed up browsing by preloading links in the background
That can lead to the experience that you have had

so if she is visiting alleged "safe" sites that have links or adverts leading to "bad" sites. the bad sites can appear in a users history & cookies even when the user has never actually visited them

if you uncheck "Predict network actions to improve page load performance" in chrome settings that can help prevent it

Also make sure that she hasn't got any extra chrome extensions under her user account as some can cause that

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Avast antivirus keeps popping up with a message that it has shielded my computer from an executable file named yogozjvdaoeg.exe
I have searched online for references to this, and cannot find a thing.

Chrome had also begun launching itself randomly.
I went into Task Manager and discovered 12 instances of this file running, with a reference to Google Chrome.  I tried ending these processes, and for every one I ended, another one (or more) would start immediately.
I have uninstalled Google Chrome, and still these processes are running, with no way to end them.
I tried using Taskkill, but again, for every instance killed, a whole new set would start up immediately.

I went to the file location (see image) and tried manually deleting it, but it states that Chrome is running, so it cannot be deleted.  Chrome is not running, it has been uninstalled.

Is this a Chrome thing, or could it be malware?  I ran Malwarebytes, and it did not find anything.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi , I have been in this forum last month as I was having some problems with my toshiba laptop, it was sent to to the service center and it is now back and I started it using yesterday.
After I did a CLEAN INSTALL as told in this forum , My is working great.
It looks light, loads quick and is quite fast.
Now When I was looking into TASK MANAGER today , I noticed something strange,
I had FIRE FOX open and CHROME too,
Fire fox was 1 service in task manager while chrome was 12 , It looked strange so I ended one process and whole chrome browser shut down, then I re opened it and it again shows multiple services, all using MEMORY too.

Here is the picture when chrome is not opened

and then here is the one when I opened chrome,

Please tell me is this a thing to worry ???
How can I overcome this problem

Answer:Task Manager Shows 12 Process for CHROME

This is a "feature" of Chrome - Each module in Chrome runs as a separate process, so shows up as a unique PID in Task Manager. This includes each Tab that is open, and each Add-on. It is designed this way for stability - supposedly a fault in one process will not "take Down" the whole program.

Its something that can look odd but it's basically a quirk of programming style

I can only assume that either you closed the main process or the system is set-up by chrome to assume that if a user closes one process they wish to close all

Not sure what this is about, everything was fine then Chrome and other programs started locking up. When I rebooted, the boot process was slow, and everything else was too, and kept locking up. I suspected (but may be wrong) that it had something to do with a third party program that I had just installed called ClassicShell on Windows 10. I wasn't too impressed with it so I uninstalled it. When I tried to uninstall Chrome in order to reinstall it, it kept saying I had to close the Chrome window even though Chrome was closed. I went into the Task Manager and saw Chrome listed several times. I closed all those, uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and rebooted. Eventually things seemed to return to normal, but when I look at Task Manager, it still shows Chrome is loaded several times over (see the attached snip).

Answer:Task Manager shows Chrome running 7 or 8 times.

Hi, this is normal, it is by design, chrome loads separate processes for web apps and plugins from the browser process so if a plugin fails or web app the browser is not taken down... much more complicated then this, still you should get the idea.

You can view what these processes are in chrome click on the three bars (far right corner) go to more tools and click on task manager, here you can see the chrome processes detailed. Happens on all machines.

My laptop runs slower than usual and is creating new folders in weird places. I did notice task manager processes for chrome and did an online search to find a few connected to fake processes like
programdata\ntuser.pol and programdata\Roaming and windows\XSxS.

I ran MGlogs and attached the zip that was one my desktop after it completed.

Can you upload all of the other requested logs please?

Greetings! first time posting, though lurking for a little bit. and hopefully this is the best place for this, unless i should split it up.

I have been getting various BSOD's from my computer recently, though most recently it was 0x0000000A. I think it may stem from google Chrome, as I get these when opening multiple tabs. Curiously this only happens on my main profile. My unused profile is fine.

perhaps unrelated, but after these freeze ups and BSODs, my task manager user name section has gone completely blank, save for system idle process. I try to restart terminal services like a older thread suggests, but it immediatly stops. There was another forum that had a termsvcfix.zip, but that did not work either.

Another thing is if i Log out of my unused user, and into the one i use the most, or vice versa, an error window pops up saying logon.exe is in use by another user.

I realize this is pretty vauge and I'm willing to do whatever you need me to to help diagnose. Thanks so much!

Answer:Solved: BSOD with chrome, Task manager without user names, for a start

UPDATE: I tried turning on my computer today to try and update all the drivers and the BIOS, when after being logged in for about 5 minutes (into the user name that I've been having problems with) I get another BSOD with a stop error of 0x0000008E.

Help!Typically when I turn on my netbook and go on Google Chrome, the Task Bar is there at the bottom, but lately when I open it, it's gone. If I have nothing open, the Task Bar remains there. Help?

Answer:When I open Google Chrome my task bar goes away

The taskbar is probably set to "Autohide" which gives you more screen space when you open an application. To make the taskbar appear you just hover your mouse pointer over the bottom of the screen and it should re-appear temporarily. If you want the taskbar to always be visible, right-click the Windows Start button and choose "Properties".Click the "Taskbar" tabUNtick "Auto-hide the taskbar" Click 'OK' to save the new setting.

When I launch Chrome, I find 10 to 12 "chrome.exe *32" processes running in the background and the laptop can get pretty slow.

Chrome regularly displays "Not responding", as the laptop struggles to process what should be a simple opening or closing of a tab.

This is what I have at the moment, with just one Chrome window and one tab:

I have 64-bit Win 7.

Also, I no longer get the Google page, when I open the Browser for the first time, only "about:blank". It appears from the second tab onwards and for every other Chrome window and tab I open and shows the frequently visited sites, as normal.

What can I do?

Answer:1 Chrome window (1 tab), but 12 "chrome.exe *32" in Task Manager!

This is on Chrome... when I open Chrome there are 3 pages set for the homepages.  2 open correctly, but the one for Gmail has been hijacked by Yahoo search.  I have read around the internet for fixes; found the same post here, and have followed the advice of all of the instructions for a fix - 5 different malware programs including Malwarebytes which appeared to remove 144 PUP files.  One directory file that I saw was 'Yontoo'?  or something similar.  I also ran ADW Cleaner, Mini Toolbox, junkwear Removal, CCleaner, removed a couple of downloaded program and reran Malwarebytes.  Whatever I have done nothing has worked!  I need help please!!

Answer:Yahoo has hijacked my Chrome Google homepage

Try resetting Google Chrome.

Google Chrome gives you the option to reset your browser settings in one easy click. In some cases, programs that you install can change your Chrome settings without your knowledge. You may see additional extensions and toolbars or a different search engine. Resetting your browser settings will reset the unwanted changes caused by installing other programs. However, your saved bookmarks and passwords will not be cleared or changed.

Reset your Chrome browser settings
In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu
Select Settings.
At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
Under the section "Reset settings,” click Reset settings.
In the dialog that appears, click Reset.
Scan the computer using Eset Online Scanner

Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window. (Eset can take more than an hour to run so plan accordingly)
Click the button.
For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click the Start button.
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
Click Advanced settings and select the following:

Anytime I use Chrome, IE, or Firefox and go to do a search, the link I click on redirects to a different page. I am also getting a lot of svchost files showing up in task manager (not sure if related).

Besides the browser hijack, I believe that the computer may be infected with other malware/trojan/backdoors but am unable to detect.

Per the instructions, the DDS log is below and the Ark.txt file is attached.

The attach.txt log says "UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED, DO NOT POST THIS LOG. IF REQUESTED, ZIP IT UP & ATTACH IT" But the instructions I thought said to attach it. Do I attach this as a txt or zip. Please let me know if you need this as well as if you need the hijackthis log.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've seen this issue solved for other members, but I read that the solution may be different for my PC, so I am making my own thread for this.

Answer:Google Chrome Omnibox Redirects to Yahoo!

Hello,
Before we start please read and note the following:
Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Upload a File button which you can use to attach your reports. Attach all reports.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.

I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

Under normal conditions a CH member would be welcoming you to the CH forums. However as this is your 1st post you have certainly gotten off on a bad foot. There is absolutely NO reason for you to have to use the language that you have to make your point. A direct question related to what is your issue and what you would like to do about it would most likely have produced a much more favorable response than this is. Your extravagant use of emoticons is equally non productive if you really want our help.truenorth

Not really an answer to your question, but your link looks like malware to me. You could try a scan with Malwarebytes, but personally I've given up on IE and use Chrome.

It's just as the title says. Every time I attempt to search using the omnibox, it redirects me to Yahoo regardless of what my default Chrome search is. I tried fixing it using Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, AdwCleaner. I uninstalled Spybot after reading a thread on the forums here that it isn't great. Removed Pando Media Booster (upon recommendation of TwinHeadedEagle). I can't make any progress after this. Please help this problem is really screwing up my computer sessions.

I have a question regarding Google Chrome.  I have been using it for a long time, so this event in question is new.  Today, I opened my browser today noticed that it used yahoo's news page as the starting point in the browser.  It normally starts with going to google.com.  Instead, it had this in the toolbar: https://www.yahoo.com/?fr=hp-avast&type=avastbcl.  The only thing I know is that I need to open a new tab in order to run my normal searches on google.

So my question is: Is this something that Chrome has started doing or is this a virus or something.  It is a new occurence that I would like to understand.  Thank you.

Note: all of my browsers are opening yahoo's news homepage.

Answer:Google Chrome using Yahoo as Default Page when Opened

Don't know how it changed to Yahoo but here are instructions to change your homepage back.

Hello,I've recently become infected with what I believe is a virus that is affecting IE and Chrome. Everytime I open one of the browsers, rather than google, it shows the following page: htxxtp://search.yahoo.com/?type=714647&fr=spigot-yhp-chI am not very experienced with problems like this, but I had a search and tried to set about fixing it. I used various programs including:adwcleanerccleanermalwarebytes anti-malwareI also followed a guide which had me change the DNS setting (I believe, 8.8.8.8 [I am a noob and this literally means nothing to me])and delete out a part of a registry (I think) :-/as the computer I am working on is fairly new and empty, I tried a system restore and that failed due to an unknown error. I tried a different restore point and the same thing happened.I realise that through my desperation to get rid of this I may have done more harm than good. In preperation for posting here, I tried running the DDS.COM but I kept getting the following error "DDS is not meant to run in 'Compatibility Mode'. This program shall now exit." I know I haven't given you much to go on, but I'm really hoping you can help.Markedit: I have reinstalled Chrome, and the problem seems to have gone, but it is still affecting IE. My concern is that remnants of it remain on the computer, potentially causing harm in ways I can't forsee, so I'm still keen to clean it as much as possible.

I'm able to access and use my Yahoo Mail page as usual but whenever I try to compose or send an email message through a link on a webpage it doesn't work. I checked the att.com help site and found out that Google Chrome supports Yahoo Mail, what could be the problem? My OS is Windows 7 64-bit and I've already set Google Chrome as my default web browser.

Can someone help me figure this out?
I cannot move or copy files, folders, or pictures when using the XP files & folders task manager LINKS on the left side of window. These links will no longer move or copy files to new locations. I just get instant hangup when I click these links provided in XP view. When I try to close the hungup window it shows that it is not responding. I find no alerts in control panel/administrative tools/event viewer.
PS
I am still able to copy/paste the files and also able to drag & drop. This is a slight inconvenience & hopefully fixable?

Has anybody noticed a small key icon which has appeared in the address bar in the chrome browser? It is a link which opens the password manager.
It is a new addition which was not there before and there does not seem to be anyway of removing it.
Anybody come across this?

It's new.

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

Up-to-date Google Chrome browser under Windows 7 displays webmail  (specifically AT&T and Yahoo) pages cutting off portions of the inbox and spam listings, and provides no scroll bars to reach the missing display.  Is this common, and can something be done to adjust for this mishandled display?  The webmail for which this problem occurs seems to only be ATT and Yahoo mails.  This problem does NOT happen in Windows Vista with Firefox, IE, Comodo Dragon, Superbird, and this problem does not happen on Windows 7 with I.E. or Firefox.   Maybe some person/member would ask, "what about Google Chrome on Windows Vista?", but I prefer not to install GOOGLE Chrome onto that computer.

Hello and thanks in advance for your time! I am running windows XP with service pack 3. Starting yesterday I noticed that my search results in google and yahoo was being redirected upon click, I could back space and get the page I originally wanted. When I switch to an alternate search engine like Altavista this does not happen. I restarted my computer in safe mode and ran superantispyware and put all threats cookies as well as registry into vault and it went down hill from there. I restarted computer and no task bar, I was able to bring up task manager and run explore.exe and this restores my task bar but not on restart. Also none of my normal things start like printer, zone alarm, avast, etc... I can manually start zone alarm and it will live in task bar until I restart but antivirus will not. I ran CW shredder and it cleaned up one infection but would not run an update. And on restart nothing. i did restore the items from the vault but to no avail nothing changed. I created a new user and my taskbar starts fine on that desktop but nothing automaticlly starts up but lavasoft which I did download and I deleted SUPERAntiSpware ran lavasoft scan and it found a variety of things I deleted cookies but put other entries in vault.Hope that is enough information to get some help below I have posted what lava soft put in vault as well as my hijack this log.
