Satellite A300 - "Enter password" on startup screen

Question: Satellite A300 - "Enter password" on startup screen

Hello, I have a problem with my Satellite A300-14S PSAJ0E-00W00PSK.

*Screen with input "Enter password" appears every time when I turn it on.* When I put wrong password 3 times, my laptop turns off. I had installed windows 7 with ubuntu for 2 years with no problems but I cannot boot any operating system now (even when I boot with inserted CD/DVD with windows/ubuntu).

*When can I get correct password? Or it is another solution of this problem?*

Thank You for any advice!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A300 - "Enter password" on startup screen

I presume your notebook is locked with BIOS password.
BIOS password cannot be set from alone but I don?t understand your situation.
Either you have blocked your notebook with BIOS password or someone have done it without your knowledge.
Have you some explanation for this situation.

Anyway, if BIOS password is not known to you, you must contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. They can remove it for you.

Hi All, how have u been.

It's been 2 months I have bought the laptop Satellite A300-1PH. Yesterday, first time I tried to see my system BIOS by pressing F2, but it required Password to enter onto BIOS but I never put the password as I am very first time opening it.

Can anybody tell me what is the exact problem?

Answer:Satellite A300-1PH - Why I have to enter a BIOS password?

Maybe the shop who sold you the laptop put a Password on the BIOS?

Give them a call and ask if they put BIOS passwords on their laptops.

If they say no, then you should send the laptop to an Authorized Service Center. There is a list of ASP's on the Toshiba website in the support section.

Hello there

So I'm experiencing strange BitLocker behaviour. I have this PC at work. Clean Windows 8 x64 installation, 3 HDD (AHCI), no SSD.

After I set up BitLocker to encrypt "C" partition, it gave me pop-up window, that I should restart PC to test the BitLocker loader. So I clicked Yes. And after few seconds I got this:

JPG IMAGE - http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/f1/f2/22871d1370880908t-very-strange-bitlocker-enter-password-startup-screen-5jkippr.jpg

Mind, I'm still ABLE TO type password (i can't see sh** though), after I hit enter Windows IS booting, but it's really weird to see above picture instead of:

My GFX is OK, I tested it with games, benchmarks etc.
BitLocker simply cannot, for whatever reason, use my video card properly and displays those weird lines. After all - it hasn't loaded the whole Windows yet. Than again, it IS a bit strange, as Windows installers tend to work fine.

Any thoughts people?

Kind Regards

Bart

Hi there,

I developed a problem with my desktop pc yesterday. I was gaming and the screen began to flicker then the game crashed - citing "rendering device lost". I tried to re-load this again and the same thing happened again, this time with a BSOD. I tried a different game and the same thing occured, took slightly longer though. Given it was late I went to bed.

Today on loading up the sign in screen was flickering lots, I entered my password and was met by a black screen. The computer continued to make fan noises as if it was working, but nothing on my screen. This happened again. On restaring my computer the crash report read

"Blue Screen.

BCP2 FFFFF7009080000
BCP3 00000000000009ED
BCP4 B00000000

I've looked at the bug dump, but I was silly and did a system restore before this, so there's no bug dump.

The computer starts and runs fine in safe mode and without the graphics card in.

Since I've done a system restore
Cleaned everything again ( was pretty dust free to start)
Uninstalled and re-installed the graphics card drivers
Re-seated RAM and GPU
Done a memory diagnostic on my RAM
None of these have worked.
I've taken the graphics card out and it runs fine with the onboard GPU.

Some specs:
Intel I5 3570K
GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7870
Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77M pro
PSU -OCZ Core steam 500W

How do I reset the password on the logon screen?

I can't access the set-up facility or BIOS as I can't get pass this screen. Entering something incorrectly 3 times shuts off the computer. I do not the current password and I'm not sure what kind of password it is and why it?s asking for one as soon as I turn it on.

How do I fix this issue?

Answer:Re: How do I reset the password on the logon screen - Satellite A300 ?

You cannot fix it. You can only disable it but for doing that right password must be known to you.
As many times before in this forum we have already discussed about this theme.

Password protection is very important security feature and we cannot give tips how to bypass or remove passwords on public forum. With other words, every stolen notebook protected with password will be easy to start and access on saved data will be easy.

Is this your notebook? Have you maybe bought it as used one and now it is blocked by password?

Running Windows 7, the laptop sometimes does not proceed further than the Toshiba screen, you can't even get into the BIOS. I have tried updating the BIOS, but with no change.

It only exhibts this behaviour 1 in 5 reboots. The only resolution is to hold down the power button to turn off, then remove the battery to perform a hard reset.
Any solution would be gratefully received.
I think it was working fine even since a Windows 7 upgrade, so I'm not sure that is relevant.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1G0 - Freezes at startup splash screen

Hi buddy,

If your notebook freezes during Toshiba BIOS screen it has nothing to do with the installed software and OS. After you turn on your notebook it makes a power on self test (POST) so it seems to be a hardware malfunction that your notebook hangs there.

Have you connected any external devices to your notebook like printer, external HDD, etc. If yes, remove them and test it again.

In worst case you need help from an authorized service provider. The guys can check this and replace the faulty hardware.

My three days old Satellite Pro A300 started yesterday to hang on Vista startup. I rebooted twice with good result, but now I only see the Toshiba welcome screen, then it turns black with a curser up left. I won't respond on F2 /F12/ F8, neither on recovery DVD's. Disc LED indicator is black, only fan sound. I have not connected any external monitor ever on this one.

At the moment while it is sunday I picked out the battery and will try again in an hour or two, else I contact the dealer tomorrow. Any ideas what's wrong? BIOS crash, hard drive (after three days)?

Does this mean you can?t access the BIOS too?

If it?s so it seems to be a hardware problem. Therefore contact the authorized service provider in your country. They can help you to repair the notebook.

Answer:Satellite C850D problem blue screen "Enter password"

Hmmm?. Looks like a BIOS password.

Could it be possible that another user/person set it on your notebook?

However, I have no idea why this appears but as far as I know the unknown BIOS password can be reset only by an authorized service provider in your country.

For some time when I turn the notebook on the page where it appears the Toshiba logo do not appear and I cannot enter the BIOS.

And turn power back two or three times and then the details reappear.

I tried to reinstall the BIOS but the installation of the BIOS tells me that the version what I'm installing is the the existing one.

Do you have any suggestions?

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1LG - cannot enter BIOS settings

To be honest I?ve never heard about such problem. It is pretty strange due to fact that you can enter BIOS from time to time.
I don?t think there is anything you can do about that, except to set BIOS to default settings. In my opinion BIOS update is not the solution. BIOS is the first and lowest hardware check level and notebook users don?t have much possibilities to do anything about that.

I?m afraid you need professional help with this.

Answer:Satellite A300-1HP does not enter Standby after 30min inactivity

Hello Norbert

Maybe you should check Vista power settings again. I have A300 too and everything works well.
I have tested it with all three power plans. Have you done the same?

Usually I use BALANCED power plan and it goes into standby mode after 20 minutes properly.

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

I am using Windows Vista 32bit in a Dell Dimension C521 Desktop.
Occasionaly, on bootup I am unable to enter my password. The cursor blnks but I am unable to type in the word.
My keyboard (Microsoft Curve)is fairly new and otherwise works perfectly. I have also checked that its USB cable is fitted OK.
To clear the problem I have to shut down and restart the computer using the power button. I can then always type in the password and continue startup as if nothing had happened.
This is a very infrequent fault but of course I do not want it to get worse.
Any help and advice will be very much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my notebook. The boot procedure took too long (about 3min).
I have updated the Tempro software and disabled some background processes in the MSCONFIG ?Startup? tab.

This helped to decreases the booting time to one min.

Answer:Satellite A300 1G5 - freeze at startup

I have very good experiences with Satellite A300 and Win7 installation. No problems at all.
As I can see on Toshiba download page your notebook model is fully supported for Win7 and all you must do is to install all Toshiba stuff in right installations order.

My installations order is:
-Win7 Home Premium (clean installation)
-chipset driver
-storage manager
-display driver
-sound driver
-modem driver
-supervisor utility
-infrared
-patches
-configfree
-VAP
-toshiba hardware setup
-HDMI control
-WLAN driver

Everything works well but missing some drivers

Added Vista stuff:
-Toshiba assist - work properly
-Card reader - installed properly
-Webcam driver for A500 - tested with Skype - work properly.
-Synaptics driver

I really don't know what you are doing wrong. Maybe some background processes block ?regular? start-up.
I recommend you to try again and make it easy step-by-step following my list and let me know on which stage you will be faced with described issue.

Hello everybody!

I need the help in organizing of my startup list:

Toshiba Button Support (why do I need this program if my laptop doesn't has multimedia keys? OR maybe this program for something else?)
ItSecMng (although I disabled Bluetooth Manager from running during startup this item still remains in the startup)
Conexant High Definition Audio Filter Agent (What is this program for? Do I really need it in startup?)
Toshiba Power Saver
Toshiba Flash Cards
RAID Event Monitor

So, my friends. Could you give a valuable suggestion whether or not it safe to disable the above startup entries? I want to speed up my laptop to highest possible level.

Thanks very much for your time!

Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-15V (PSAJ5E) => Does NOT have any multimedia keys except the FN keys.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-15V I need the help in organizing of my startup list

> Toshiba Button Support (why do I need this program if my laptop doesn't has multimedia keys? OR maybe this program for something else?)
You can disable this. If your notebook does not support multimedia buttons then this tool is useless.

> ItSecMng (although I disabled Bluetooth Manager from running during startup this item still remains in the startup)
I?m not sure what this process would do but you can disable this in msconfig -> startup tab. If it would be necessary in the future, then you could enable this again.

> Conexant High Definition Audio Filter Agent (What is this program for? Do I really need it in startup?)
I think this is necessary. It could improve your audio sound

> Toshiba Power Saver
This is important. It?s an additional Toshiba power saving option for Win 7

> Toshiba Flash Cards
This tool controls the FN buttons.

> RAID Event Monitor
Hmm? if you don?t have two HDDs then you could try to disable this too.

> I can power up if I remove the battery without it asking for this password, but If I power off and power up again then it asks for it again.
To be honest I don?t understand this. If you understand you right you can use your notebook and bypass BIOS password if you start notebook on AC power supply only, right?
But with battery inside it starts and ask for BIOS password?

Hello,
i was wondering if someone could tell me why when reseting the bios password via jumpers on motherboard is it stated that 1 of the 2 memory sticks should be left in the FIRST slot (the one furthest from motherboard)?

I ask because the top/FIRST memory slot on the motherboard of my laptop (please see title) is broken.

Can I perform try to reset by leaving a memory stick in the second slot (closest to the motherboard)?

Many many thanks

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Comput...-UEFI-BIOS-or-HDD-hard-disk-drive/ta-p/407769
If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS

Those processes are quite important and don't really decrease the performance of the system.

If you want to improve the performance, installing more RAM or upgrading to an SSD Drive and using an efficient Virus Scanner will have the most impact.

Hi!

I bought a Satellite A300-1ME one week ago and I had some problems.
When I arrived at home, I picked up the laptop and connected the AC Adapter and went the Vista installation. Then, with the PC ready, I uninstalled Google Desktop and Google Toolbar which for me are useless and came preinstalled.

Then, I rebooted and surprise: after the Windows Orb at logon, it came to a wait... screen, and it stood here for one hour, so I made a hard reset and the same story, I can?t reach the login screen.

Booted onto safe mode and everything fine, made a system restore, reboot and nothing the same problem. Booted using the recovery system in the laptop and tried to make another system recovery from here. It started and when it were reaching the end it game me one error because it said "there is no one file to restore" or something else. I used the other recovery system which format and reinstall Windows. Again on the desktop, I rebooted and the same: Wait...

Went to the dealer the same day of the bought and they gave me another one. Now, it seems to work fine but the startup time from the Windows Orb to the logon screen it takes about 1 minute in the best of cases, also uninstalled McAfee Security Suite and nothing.

So I want to know if that?s normal because of being a laptop, although my other PC with 8 years and running Vista is faster on login (not on using it). I think it can be because of all drivers and stuff that came preinstalled, but I?m afraid of ... Read more

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-11Y laptop and have a problem. A day, I decided that wanted to set a supervisor password for the bios of the laptop. Now, I remeber this password, but when I entry to the BIOS setup, I can't view any option for change o disable this password. I can't entry this password for set it me a supervisor, and also I can't modify some options as for exemple, the boot sequence.

How can I delete this password or how can I login as supervisor? I don't see any option for it, and I need to modify the boot sequence.

A lot of thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro S300 - How to enter supervisor password?

Hello

About this I can only say check your user manual!!! ;)

There I have founded the following information:
+C:\Program Files\Toshiba\PassowrdUtility\TOSPU.exe+
+This utility lets you do the following:+
+Register, delete or change the supervisor password+
+Create or invalidate a supervisor password token+

Check this and then you should be able to delete the password if you know the current.

Hello everyone,

Any suggestions?

Also slightly off topic, the laptop has buttons for controlling media player, is there anyway i can change them to control iTunes?

Have you tried to make an update of Toshiba Assist? A new version and all other Toshiba stuff you can find here:

About the control buttons? I think you must set iTunes as standard media player and select all file with playing iTunes.

And I am probably too dumb to reset is, because after inserting both an empty CD and after connecting a USB Stick the computer says that CD/ USB Stick can?t be used for resetting the password. What am I doing wrong?

I need the data from that thing and the more I am waiting the more I am getting nuts...

Can anybody please help me?

Thanks in advance,

Timo if you can obtain ?2,5? AluminumSATA HDD Enclosure? connect HDD from your P300 to another PC as external device. On this way you will be able to have full access to all saved data.

After doing this put the HDD back and install original recovery image or Win7 32bit. It works perfectly on P300.

This is a problem I've never encountered in the past (and, believe me, I've encountered hundreds of them). When I turn on my desktop pc, everything is working fine until I come to the log in screen. My curser is an arrow, and it works fine, moves around the screen as it should, until I try to place it into the "type your password" area. At that point, the curser arrow turns into a hand, and it won't allow me to type my password, which means I'm unable to get on line.

I've tried everything I know how to try; unplugging the machine, rebooting, trying a different mouse, etc. Nothing works. Can someone advise me what to do in this situation?

Thanks for your help.

Windows 10 has been working fine since install on my Dell desktop. Then one day when I went to use it, I can't enter any info on the user/password screen. When the PC starts it goes to the screen with wallpaper, time and date. When I touch any key or mouse click it goes to the screen to select user and enter password to log in. At that point the screen goes to black within half a second or so. I can't click on anything. After about 30 seconds it returns to the wallpaper, time and date screen. I have restarted the PC numerous times, but no change. I can get into the F2, but see no place to restore to earlier date, etc. TIA

Sometimes, when I try to turn on my laptop, the screen won't work. I hear the fan running, those little lights on the keyboard light up, but the screen just remains black...this happened for like 3 days until today, I got home and it magically worked. This same thing happened like a month ago...what is going on? :s

Answer:Satellite A300 - screen won't work sometimes

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer exact diagnostic.
What we can do here is nothing but speculation about possible reasons.

A300 is not the newest model so there can be some problem with connection between mainboard and the display.
Next time when this happen, try to move display or press gently the notebook below the display just to see if this will help or not.

At the end I must say that only service can help you with this. With other words they can disassemble the notebook and check the display cable.

Hi,

What is on my screen keeps jumping up and down, any thoughts, is this a problem with video card in Satellite A300?

Answer:Satellite A300 screen keeps jumping up and down

What part of the screen do you mean exactly?

Do you mean the mouse cursor or the whole display?

I?m not quite sure what this could cause this issue but maybe it?s a driver problem so at first step you should try to update the display/graphic driver.

Additionally you could check if the same issue would be visible on the external monitor.

Hi everyone.

I am sure it is a 08W model, it has the PM45 chipset and intel T9400 processor, and was told by the Toshiba Support person it was a 08W model even though he did'nt know the full specifics of it.

Problem is whenever (not all the time) i leave the PC sometimes the screen will go blank (almost black, just lighter i think) and would seem to be in sleep mode, which it is set to in advanced power options, when the PC is plugged in which it is, but when i click the mouse or any other button on the PC the screen still stays blank. Nothing happens. A voice starts talking when i hit some button after pressing all the keys trying to get something to work but windws won't load back to its previous state , i have to shut down the computer manually.

This also happens when i shut the lid on the PC but when i open the lid back up the display seems to be black rather than just a minute touch lighter than black as it is when the display is open, thats the only little difference.

This Computer has been in once before the PC had bad sectors on the HD and HD was replaced with Vista reloaded but this keeps happening. Also i just remembered that certain applications freeze such as I.E. or the other day my external sound card would not close, seems to be when iam trying to exit programs, i can still operate other programs or other explorer browsers but when the program freezes i cannot shut it down anyway, either via Task manager or shutting the program down throiugh the p... *EDIT:* Just noticed the screen goes a touch off black, for abit, a few miniutes maybe, then i assume, havn't timed, but seems about 15minutes which is what sleep mode is set to, the PC display goes completely black, although when this happened i moved the mouse and the display went back to previous state instead of freezing this time.

Just checked then twice when the PC goes into sleep mode, the PC display goes a touch off black for a split second (about 1/5 second) then straight to black although the other issues are still persistent with the problem, so...

Can you access the onscreen keyboard? There should be a 3quarter circle with the rest a dotted line to access the accessibility mode under Win 10 but not sure under Win 8. That should allow you to enter the password.

Answer:Screen Gets Black After Enter On Owner Password

There are several things that could cause this, the most likely being a corruption of your video drivers. To start with, uninstall the current video drivers from your system while in Safe Mode (go to Control Panel...Add/Remove Programs).

If this doesn't fix it, post back and we'll go through the steps for checking out your hard drive, your file system, and the MBR/Boot sectors of the hard drive.

Hi

Are you able to access the BIOS?
Can you see a Toshiba Splash screen which would appears usually at the beginning?

What happens if you would press F8 at the beginning of the booting procedure?

Please provide more details!

Hello,

I am not able to adjust my display brightness on my Satellite A300-21C - the control panel -> power options menu does not give me the option to do so, and my Fn keys don't work either (can't adjust brightness).

The OS is Win. XP Pro - SP2

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Satellite A300-21C - Can'T adjust the screen brightness

Hello

Can you adjust the screen brightness using Toshiba Power Saver? With this tool I can set the screen brightness for full power (AC/DC adaptor) and normal mode (battery). I like it very much because I can also set more options and you can download it on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

For the FN keys on your notebook you need the Toshiba tools that you can find on the Toshiba website too.

I had a slight mishap with my A300, which ultimately ended in me cracking the screen.
(Yeah, I know, what an idiot. Trust me though, it was a complete accident.)

Anyway, the service centre is shut until the 5th of Jan, but I was wondering if anyone would know how much a replacement screen would set me back?

It is going to cost me over $80 just to have the darn thing assessed and quoted on, and I need to know how much roughly I am looking at, as I have recently had my maternity payments end, so we are down to one income.

Talk abou timing....

Answer:Satellite A300 Question about the LCD screen replacement

Changing the LCD is a little bit tricky. You have to disassemble a lot of and remove many screws.

It is a user to user so forum, so I think here is nobody with experience how to do this. I think the best is you go to an ASP.

I bought a TOSHIBA satellite A300/Y00 in June 2008, i.e. 16 months ago. Model number PSAGOA-02Y. After ten months it suddenly did not boot. It sounds like the CPU and the fan is starting but the screen and the led below the screen were all black. I tried to connect it to an external monitor but that screen was black too. I gave it to Toshiba for 2 weeks (!) who said it was the motherboard. They replaced it for free as it was still under warranty.

A few weeks ago the same thing happened again. I turned it off and for some random reason it started as usual a few hours later. I called Toshiba to say that I think the computer will crash soon again. They said they could take it in for service but if they could not find anything wrong with it they would charge me x dollars. I did not give it in for service. I even went to a local Toshiba support guy who said he could not find anything wrong with my computer and that there was nothing he could do.

Now the same thing is happening again. This time I can't get it to start again. Of course their fantastic 3 months warranty for the last motherboard has expired. I tried to take out the battery and start it only on power but it does not help.

I don't want to pay $500 for a new motherboard and then have it breaking down again. It is obvious it is a hardware problem and I think Toshiba should replace my computer without charges.

Anyone with similar problems? Any advice? Getting pretty annoyed....

Answer:Satellite A300-Y00 black screen but fan starting

Hello!

Have you already contacted the authorized service provider again? If not, do it please! You should speak with the technicians again and then you will see what they can do for you.

I can understand you that this is annoyed but such things can happen and I think the ASP will do the best to help you. To be honest I have good experience with my ASP. The repair goes very fast and the technicians are very friendly and competent. It?s always nice to talk with them a little bit.

I?m not a technician but maybe they can repair it as a gesture of goodwill or you have only to pay the mainboard and not the exchange?

I have 1 Toshiba Satellite A300 series laptop since 2008.

It was running nice until last few days. 2 days back when I started , it runs fine until I go for bed (around 4-5 hrs).
I put my computer on and slept, when I woke up in morning, saw power button light is on, "plugged in","power on"," battery" all lights are on but screen turn black.

I moved mouse, pressed mouse, press space bar, enter keys in keyboard, but nothing made the screen live.
I checked the fan is running and machine is hot normally.

I noticed LED for HDD/Processor does not blink, does not lit.

Day before yesterday also was same, but after restart again was fine everything.
yesterday also repeated the same thing.
Today also repeated the same thing.

Please note my power saving mode: while plugged in -- turn off monitor - 1 minutes, turn off HDD - never.

This setting is there for last 2-3 years, and normally turned off monitor used to live on mouse movement / key pressing.

Can anybody please help me to know why my screen goes black in morning after overnight running.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite A300 - Black screen after long run

Usually display should turn off but notebook must continue to work.
It is not easy to say what happened.
Can happen that notebook has made restart due to some windows update installation?
Are some applications active over the night? Some download or anything similar?

Hi,
Can anyone help me with my Satellite A300?
Wherein my Fn keys F6 & F7 (brightness level) is not working. My Screen is at the lowest level brightness currently.

thanks

Answer:Satellite A300 - Screen is at the lowest brightness

Hi epdanao,

Have you installed another operating system or changed something on software installation? Do you have an idea why FN+F6/F7 don?t work anymore?

All FN keys on your computer are controlled by Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. So in your case I would be recommendable reinstalling both applications. They can be downloaded on official Toshiba page for free:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

I hope it helps! :)

I recently buy a Toshiba Satellite A300-18A, and I want increase the screen resolution.
At this moment the max resolution is 1280x800.

Does any one know how to increase the resolution?
Where I can find drivers to increase it?

Thanks

Henrique

Answer:Satellite A300-18A: How to increase the screen resolution

Hi

I don?t think that a new graphic driver would enable a higher screen resolution on your A300 notebook.
Did you check your user manual for details??

I downloaded the user manual from the Toshiba European page and found out that your display is a 15.4? WXGA 16Mill colours with the following resolution: 1280 horizontal and 800 vertical pixels.

It seems you are using already the highest available resolution and therefore you will be not able to increase it to higher values.

Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-114 running with Windows Vista Home Premium.
It was working fine until two weeks ago, now, after some time of inactivity, the screen shuts down and it won't turn on agian. The Hard drive light blips but the Screen stays black. This is becoming more often.

Does anybody have any ideia what the problem is?

Thanks :)

Answer:Satellite A300-114 - Won't reinitate after screen shuts down

Hi jjginga,

Did you test an external monitor on your notebook? This is interesting because so you can identify if this is related to the internal screen or graphic card.

I had a similar issue on my notebook that the internal screen was black, only the external one worked. The solution was replacing the FL inverter or internal screen.

I have Satellite A300-16W 21 months and so far my cooler was changed, hard disk also, display was dead (had to be changed to), motherboard was, then I had problem with charging of battery and that had to be fixed too. Now, whole system cracked, blue screen etc. So far, this computer was almost 160 days for services and i'm realy dissapointed of toshiba because it is the worst computer I ever had. I lost very important data twice because this computer.

What to do now? I think it would be realy fair for toshiba to give me computer of the same price I paid for this one because it is obvious that this one has and it will have many major problems and failures.

Answer:Satellite A300-16W - Now blue screen on system

Hello Milosh

I?m so sorry to hear you had so many different issues with your Satellite A300. I?m also Satellite A300 (A300-1LI) owner and my is about 1,5 year old. Probably I had more luck than you and until now I didn?t had any problems. From the first day I use it with WXP and about one year now I use dual OS.

On second partition I have installed Win7. Both operating systems run stabile and without problems.
What to say my friend? We can discuss about everything here, and write our own opinions but mostly it will not work in real life.

Your notebook has 3 months warranty left and if you check eBay you will see that you can get good money for this machine. I have noticed that people really love buying used Toshiba notebooks on eBay. You can sell your Satellite and buy other and newer notebook model.

In the future be careful with all your data. It is recommended to make back-up on some external device. OK you had bad experience with your Satellite notebook but it can happen with other notebooks too.

Bye

Hi People !

Just yesterday, bought a lovely Satellite A300-215 - Intel Core 2 Duo / P8700/ 2.53 Ghz / 15. 4 WXGA / *Radeon HD 3650* / 400 GB
Works like a Ferrari but have a querky problem getting a Full screen whenever I try playing any media, e.g watching footy, movies, the screen just WON'T go *" FULL SCREEN'* :(:(, tried my best changing the display resolutions in the control panel in all possible ways but just can't it up with a Full fledged screen.

Downloaded even an other driver nvidia video driver which matches with the Toshiba books, but that just won't work. The current driver which I have for the dislplay is ATI Mobility Radeon 3650, also seems of no help.

When I try to adjust the resolution fpr the wmp player or spvod player to fit in the whole screen, the page just turns gigantic, unmanageable, it is fine with the notebook functions, no problem. at all, but not possible to enjoy any media- fullscreened.

I would highly appreciate, if anyone could please help me solve this, many thanks in advance ! Cheers :)

Hi All

got an issue with an A300 laptop about 2-2.5 years old. I have just installed windows 7 prof and it was working fine for about 3 days and then suddenly it stopped booting up.

It gets to the toshiba splash screen and then reboots. it does not even try to boot into windows. you can go into the bios and make changes etc. you cannot press f8 to load into safe mode it does not even get that far.
You can press f12 and get the boot menu up and try to boot from CD but this again does not work and it just reboots again

I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot it. I dont think its a motherboard problem as you can get into the bios.
It could be a HDD problem but then i thought it would have gave you a warning message of some kind ( no boot device available ) and you can see the HDD in bios and would have thought it would have at least booted to CD.

The only things i can think of are RAM problem HDD problem or Motherboard problem.
I think installing win 7 3days ago is just a huge coincidence?

Any help would be great. Thanks

Answer:Satellite A300 will not get past splash screen

Hi hitenkacha,

Hmm... That?s really strange if the notebook restarts after Toshiba splash screen but it doesn?t happen if you go into BIOS or boot menu...
So if go into BIOS and wait some minutes, it doesn?t restart?

One more thing would be interesting to know: What happens if you try to boot from Toshiba recovery disk? Usually it should always possible to boot from this disk if it?s ok.

Check this!!!

I have a Satellite Pro A300, AMD CPU, ATI graphics, Vista.

The system worked fine for a year but a few months ago it started crashing, the screen went blank, not blue, anything running, like music, stopped. This can happen after several hours or minutes, or even whilst it is re-booting. All my software is up-to-date, both from Microsoft and Toshiba. I have rebuilt my system from scratch and the symptoms came back.

At first I thought this might be a heat problem but I have monitored this but I don't think this is it. It has crashed seconds after leaving sleep mode when it has not had a chance to warm up.

Anybody got any ideas?

Simon

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 crashes with blank screen

Hi buddy,

Theoretically it could be an overheating problem so the screen went blank due built in overheat protection...

You should try to clean your notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators and therefore it?s not necessary to disassemble the notebook.

In your case I would recommend reading this article:

Hi, Looking at the post you made earlier in the year, the code e9lo77qz2g is correct for the hash you've posted. As it no longer works, check the following. 1.  Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out for the moment ), start the notebook and try entering the code again. 2.  Try entering the code via an external usb QWERTY keyboard. 3.  Remove the hard drive, start the notebook and try entering the code. Regards, DP-K

Unfortunately, no one would be able to help you with that. There are supposedly free Windows password cracking software out there on the net you can do a search for. Otherwise you will need to reinstall Windows with a recovery disk or a plain Windows installation disk, if you are asked for a password to use the recovery disk (which I have never heard of).
