Satellite A210-1AO - TOSHIBA Flash Cards softw: app crashes on startup

Question: Satellite A210-1AO - TOSHIBA Flash Cards softw: app crashes on startup

"TOSHIBA Flash Cards" software/drivers, bundled with Satellite A210-1AO, crashes often, usually on system startup.
And sometimes after it loads correctly on startup, it stops working in random way with app crash.

Currently I have a dump of such crash, link.

Preferred Solution: Satellite A210-1AO - TOSHIBA Flash Cards softw: app crashes on startup

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi folks,

i reinstall Vista without the Recovery CD and now the FN Keys works, but not all. I.E. i cant lock the Touchpad and the FlashCards also didnt come down, if i push a FN Key.
The User darksys tells at this Thread (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/click.jspa?searchID=172641&messageID=100112) that it is helpful to install the Flash Card Support Utilty that is not available at the European Download Site. So i downloaded it from the Canadian Site, but at the Installation it tells me that I have an invalide Serial Nummber ??!!
I have a Sattelite A-210-10C (Model Nummber : PSAEGE-xyz). So I think the Install tells me that I have an Invalide Serial because it is for an another Model Series.

Its annoying, writing a text and then suddenly the mouse jump anywehre else because I touch the Pad by mistake...

So I hope anybody could help.

So long...

Answer:Question about function Keys and Flash Cards on my Satellite A210-10C

Hello

Please check Toshiba Europe support site again to see if there is never version for VAP. I have A200 and there was some problem with VAP installed in recovery image.

I have removed it from the system and installed latest version from Toshiba support page. Now by pressing KN key the flash cards are shown very fast and I can use al of them without any problem.

Check also touchpad settings. There must be also option for touchpad disabling.

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

I just installed vap-20080108132320, and now Toshiba Flash Cards won't load. I get the following error in my Application log:

Faulting application TCrdMain.exe, version 2.0.0.4, time stamp 0x470dae48, faulting module TCrdMain.exe, version 2.0.0.4, time stamp 0x470dae48, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00011299, process id 0x14f0, application start time 0x01c85521e7cfc470.

I also would like to know how NOT to get localized installations. I got English Windows Vista, but the VAP installs as a localized version, in my case Norwegian, and I don't want that!

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

Are the correct ATI/nVidia graphics drivers installed? Make sure the Graphics card is not using standard VGA drivers in Device Manager.

Also try this:

1) uninstall the Toshiba Value Added Package in Control Panel -> Programs and features
2) Download and install the latest TVAP from the Toshiba Drivers/Support Website

Answer:Toshiba Flash Cards issue with Satellite A100-065

Hi,

maybe because powersaving issues? Could be possible that the system is switching the flashcardreader or is stopping the flashcardservice due to this powersaving settings.

Just a little suggestion: remove all flashcard related tools/drivers, download the latest versions of that software from the toshiba website
(http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp) and reinstall it.

Maybe you can solve that error with performing a reinstall?

Hello,

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Another thing that i have tried is to return to factory state with the system recovery discs given by the f... Read more

Answer:Satellite U300 PSU30C - Toshiba flash cards and accessibility tools issue

Hi

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook:
http://www.toshiba.ca => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

I have a Satellite A200 PSAE3E and I have noticed just recently that the Flash Cards do not appear now when I move my mouse pointer to the top of the screen.
I have checked that the program is set to start up when the laptop is turned on and I have looked at the settings for the program and everything seems to be OK.

However I can only get them to appear if I double click the file and start it manualy.
As a temporary fix I have put a shortcut on my desktop to start it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my A210 that I bought in March 08. It would crash and eventually not even start up. I had to take it to an authorized dealer and it turned out that I had a bad copy of Vista.

The tech did a system restore and used the company's copy of Vista; however, it was considered an unauthorized version. I had to buy system restore disks because I couldn't do a backup (because of the unauthorized Vista) and do a second system restore. Naturally, I lost all data and programs both times, some of which I hadn't backed up (I know, stupid).

Now, every once in awhile (sometimes 3-4x a day), the computer crashes/freezes - no HD light. I have to shut down and start over again.

Am I frustrated and angry? You can have one guess!

I get nowhere with Toshiba as far a solution that works is concerned.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not familiar with the "working" of a computer, just the using of it. So, if you have any technical ideas, please say it in a fashion that I can understand. Throwing it in the garbage is one solution that I have considered, but can't afford a new computer.

Thanks for any help.

Answer:Satellite A210 crashes

I also have a A210 (and U400) and it doesn???t crash!!

Regarding this statement:
>It would crash and eventually not even start up. I had to take it to an authorized dealer and it turned out that I had a bad copy of Vista.
Did you contact the authorized Toshiba service provider?!
I doubt this because a ASPs technicians are trained and quailed.
A bad copy of vista is simply nonsense.

Every Toshiba notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba image and your notebook couldn't be preinstalled with "bad copy of Vista".

Usually your notebook was equipped with HDD recovery or the Toshiba recovery DVD was delivered with the notebook.
If the notebook doesn't work properly after Recovery procedure then a hardware malfunction is possible and the notebook should be checked by an ASP (real ASP!!!)

The warranty covers the notebook for two years (one additional warranty year after notebook registration on the Toshiba website).
So if something would be wrong the warranty covers everything and everything should be done for free!!!

To be honest your message is really mysterious.
I would recommend contacting an Toshiba ASP and to ask for an detailed notebook check!!!
Here you can find the ASP:

Hi,

I have a Satellite A210, now I would like to buy some extra RAM. On all the website Ive visited they ask me for a bit more info. They're asking for a Satellite A210 .......
I looked at the sticker on the bottom of the laptop but that only shows the A210. My model number is PSAFGA-078019. Where can I find what is supposed to come after the 210?

Thanks

Answer:How to identify the model number Toshiba Satellite A210

Hi

All information should be posted at the bottom of the unit.
There are some labels including the details like model number, serial number, etc?

But to be honest the Satellite A210 PSAFGA-078019 is not a Toshiba European model.
It?s possibly an Australian / New Zeeland series.

I googled for the PSAFGA-078019 number and get some info;
It looks like the notebook is called Satellite A210/801

Nevertheless the notebook should support the same modules like the other A210 units and the compatible modules supports these spec:
*DDR2 667MHz (PC2-5300) 200-PIN SODIMM*

Hi all;

I am preparing to upgrade to Windows 7 & thinking of adding RAM on my Toshiba Satellite A210. It now has 2 - 512MB (1G) RAM. I need to find what amount would be compatible with my processor. There is nothing in the manual about upgrading. I am by no means an expert but can do some complicated maneuvers. Is there an 'easy' way to do this?

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satellite A210 - Upgrading RAM for Windows 7

The easy way is to find the technical spec sheet (usually pdf file) for your laptop on Toshiba's website or some other retailer. On the technical spec sheet, it should tell you the type of RAM and MAX RAM.

This is an example, but you need your exact make and model: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-pro-a210/4507-3121_7-32701083.html

Start over and follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. It compiles everything that works best in tens of thousands of installs we've directly helped with here since beta, and has been used by over a million people without a single complaint.

In particular delete all partitions during the booted install to clear the partition table, pay close attention to how drivers are handled best in Win7, and how to determine which enabling software is needed to be added back from the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage for your model.

Hi,

Last February I bought Toshiba Satellite A210. Yesterday I had to re-install the system to get original factory setting using CD-Recovery DVD. I follow the step shown on screen until I came to "Format-Partition" stage. Start to copy 1/5 to 4/5 things that I forget the name what was going to copy and suddenly I get an error saying that data couldn't copy or some data error from redundancy check fail and then "please press any key to continue" and I press a key to continue and suddenly the cmd window disappeared.
I realize that on the bottom it was another cmd window shown and when I maximize the window all I see is something like

X:\widowns\system32

I didn?t understand what I have to do. So I restart the system and do same thing again and I get same error.
First I thought my HDD might be a fault on it so I used my another original Windows Vista cd to install Vista to see if my HDD is okay.

During the setup I see 4 partition and one of them saying WinRE. Anyway I install my vista. But I was needed original recovery cd data so I can install the driver.

Then later I tried to use CD-Recovery DVD and I get same error that I describe above.

Does anyone know what was wrong?
It is very difficult to call from the night to Toshiba help center so I am trying to get some answer in this post.

I thank you for reading my post.

Kind regards,
NTMS

Answer:Re: Satellite A210 - Toshiba Vista Recovery installation error

Hi

I recovered my A210 notebook many times and had this issue only one time.
In my case the black cmd window appeared and I didn?t know what I have to do.
So I closed this windows and nothing happened.
Now I know that I have to leave everything until the installation procedure would finish.

But listen buddy; you said you have installed the Vista using an original Microsoft Vista DVD. Well, in such case you don?t need the Recovery DVD for Toshiba driver installation.
All needed Vista drivers are released on the Toshiba European driver page.

Check the driver page, choose your notebook model and then you should get all necessary Vista drivers!

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major problems...at least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

I installed the new driver which went OK. I had to reboot my system and then the driver worked fine, but the problem now is that at uncertain moment s (during playing games or what so ever) the display turns green, blue, gray and yellow with stripes.

When that happens, the whole system grinds to a halt and there is no way to regain control of the system (CTRL+ ALT+DEL or the windows button do not work). The only solution is to reboot the system with the ON/OFF button.

Here is the information I was able to find with the problem solving option on vista, too bad this program is not able to give me a clear answer other than downloading the latest drivers from the ATI or Toshiba site.

Answer:Satellite A210 ATI Mobility Radeon driver crashes

Not easy to say why the graphic card driver crashes? maybe there is an compatibility issue with different games? who knows?

Maybe you could try to install an graphic driver from the 3rd party website like www.omegadrivers.net

But note; some people from this forum said that such drivers can be used only at your own risk because such drivers are not tested by notebook manufacture.

Hello,

I have a serious problem with my Toshiba laptop, Windows Vista 32bit, 1.8Ghz, 2Gb RAM, AMD Turion 64 x2
There is one hard disk partitioned as two 75Gb drives (C and E).

The problem is that, whenever I enter the Boot menu (to boot from CD), or if I change within the BIOS the boot order and then restart, the computer crashes (power cuts off suddenly).
Then the only way to recover, is to plug out the AC/DC adapter, wait 5 min, and start again. Then, either everything goes on normally, or Windows system recovery launches, after what it will reboot and work fine.

It might be important to know that I repartitioned the E drive to have 30Gb for installing Win7 later on. The annoying thing is that I never tried changing the boot order before repartitioning, so I don't know whether it has something to do with the problem or if it was there before.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you,

hi,

It looks like the Bios related issue. Have you tried to update it or reflash?

Maybe this took place before but you didn't check.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?

My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.
Thank you,
Dave.

Answer:Question about Toshiba Flash Cards

Yes I believe you can :)

Go to the start menu -> Programs -> Toshiba -> utilities, and run the FlashCards settings utility. You can disable Flashcards there.

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Go to Device Manager and see if you can see anything about the card reader there?

Sometimes, unexpectedly and probaby due to some mistake on my part, a message appears saying Toshiba flash cards not responding. What is this?

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.
Maybe a reinstallation could helps.

My Satellite A210 PSAFJE-003003KS has been a royal pain in the behind lately.
It seem to crash nearly every time while I watch streamed videos on the internet, using both internet explorer and firefox.
And I also struggle to get the computer to reset as well.

Majority of the time when I press the reset button the laptop will power down, but never power up again properly, and often takes several attempts of holding down the off button and manually resetting to get it to power up again.

Obviously the only advice the tech guys at pc world could give me was to recover the computer, but I?m wondering if it was a common fault on these laptops.

Answer:Satellite A210 PSAFJE crashes when watching video stream

> Obviously the only advice the tech guys at pc world could give me was to recover the computer, but I?m wondering if it was a common fault on these laptops.

Common fault? You cannot be serious.
I?ve got the A210-10Y. It?s preinstalled with Vista and XP. I watch movies (DVDs and internet streaming) also I stream the ?youtube? videos and to be honest I didn?t notice any similar notebook behaviors like yours.

I think technician is right; it looks like your OS is muddled up; Who knows why ?:| In most cases the system files and the registry could be corrupt.
Therefore in my opinion you should try to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba recovery DVD to check if the notebook would run trouble free after OS reinstallation.

In most cases this is a right solution!

Please check this!!!

Hi. I just bought a new toshiba satellite A210/A215 laptop two weeks ago. After about a week of use, something unusual started happening. After I had been using the laptop for awhile (sometimes a couple of minutes, sometimes several hours), the screen suddenly turns black with no warning. It is still on, because I can hear it running. I just can't see anything on the screen and any music or video playing stops. If anyone could help with this that would be great. Thanks!

Hi to all of you.

My name is Costis and I have a startup problem with my laptop. The laptop runs Vista and it was purchased during November 2007.

I receive the following message:

"Windows encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to the computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as a hard disk or a cd-rom drive, that is failing.
Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
Status : 0x00000e9

Can you help what to do ?

Thanks in advance,
Costis

Answer:Startup problem with Satellite A210-183

Hi there,

which external devices are connected to the machine? Some external HDDs or DVD drives? Would be interesting to know because this error is mostly caused by external media/peripherals which are not properly connected to the notebook or malfunctioning.

I would recommend you to disconnect everything from your machine and check if the error reappears. Then I would suggest to backup all your important data and recover the machine completely (maybe its a software related problem).

If this does not help then come back and we will discuss this issue further.

Hi, everyone,

there may be a thread about this, but i could not find it.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

Hey,

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Hi

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

Hi

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240437]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

The FN key flashcards (that drop down from the top of screen) worked nicely for the first week of using this new notebook, they seemed to disappear by themselves (windows updates are the devil, so I point the finger at that) and I've spent an inordinate amount of time resolving this issue.

I have downloaded the latest TVAP and flashcard utility from Toshiba support. installed tvap and then rebooted and then ran the flash card utility installer which uninstalled the utility and then rebooted and then reran the utility installer, rebooted and still no joy.

my FN keys are still working, but without the flash card I cant see where im scrolling through wifi/bluetooth on/off.

What else can be done once tvap and flash card utility have been installed?

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't appear

Hey,

I had a similar problem that Flash Cards didn?t appear anymore... As far as I know it was related to an additional software that I installed? If I remember rightly, it was VMware?

So if you install this program remove it. Furthermore make sure that Flash Cards Support Utility and Value Added Package will be started properly.

Before you install newest versions, remove the old one firstly and start CCleaner to clean up the registry.

I hope it helps!

(Running Vista Home Basic on a Satellite L30)

The Flash Cards utility only really works if I use it soon after starting up my laptop. I often want to change the machine brightness after I've been using the machine for an hour or so, but the utility either ignores my attempts to move the slider down on the brightness setting, or shows it as at the lowest setting already (when it's actually at max).

So far the only solution I have found is to restart the machine! I cannot even seem to restart the programs instead--I can hunt it down in task manager and close it, right enough.... but then double clicking on TCrdMain.exe does nothing and the blooming thing won't reopen.

How do I restart the utility? And, have there been any updates to make this any more stable?

Answer:Flash cards (TCrdMain.exe) keeps crashing on Satellite L30

As far as I know you can disable and enable this Toshiba flash card under Programs -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Settings for Flash Cards
Check this maybe it helps.

But usually the flash cards service can be enabled and disabled in the ?computer management?. Under ?Services? choose the Flash card service and start it again!!!

That?s a bit strange. When you remove VAP from the system and install latest version from Toshiba download page everything should work properly again.

I would like to know if such a thing is available... since I didn?t find it anywhere
and also availability of drivers for 64-bit Windows 7, since most manufacturers already have drivers but Toshiba doesn?t.

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 (PSAE6E) Vista/7 64-bit flash cards

>...since I didn?t find it anywhere
It is strange. On Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads you can find drivers for Vista 64-bit.
Windows 7 is still in beta phase and still not available on the market. So support is still not started for it. To be honest I don't believe some other notebook manufacturers have started with Windows 7 support.

HI,
I bought a Toshiba Satellite C660D a month ago. Everything was going fine, until the FN key no longer displayed the OSD.
I looked on forums and there were various tips in relation to closely similar issues. I downloaded the Value added package again, I looked in the flash card settings and nothing is doing the trick. Could someone help me?

Any advice would be welcomed.

(ps, the functions work, but the display doesn't show anymore.)

Answer:Satellite C660D - flash cards are not shown on the screen

Have you tried to restart flash cards?

Please do this and press FN key several times.

I have recently Installed Windows 7 64 bit onto my Mother's Laptop (L500 - PSLJ0A-01E013) and from downloading either version of flash cards from the support site ( [here|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l500/pslj0a-01e013/download?os=25] )

Results in (from what I can tell) only kenotify.exe and the relevant install info being created. Using the other one results in the original one being uninstalled, and then the same thing happening. While kenotify is running, noting happens if I use FN-F6 (brightness down) or FN-F7 (bright up) or any of the other ones.

Also, Toshiba support station doesn't seem to find any "updates" for the software, and it doesn?t even want me to download the BIOS update which I haven't got.

Thanks!

Your posting is somehow confusing for me.
Do you have problem with SD card driver installation, keynotify.exe or FN keys functionality?

Have you installed own OS version?

Is there any way to turn on wireless on a Satellite L505 without the flashcard utility?
I've upgraded to Windows 10 and flashcards will not install/work. Oddly, if I go into the bios and turn off wireless, then reboot and turn it on, it works. But after a reboot, wireless is off again and I have to go through the bios change to get it to work again.

What I would give to have the hardware switch on this one.

Answer:Satellite L505 and Win10 - Wirelss Without Flash Cards

Maybe stupid question now but do you have this problems if you use stand-by or hibernation mode?
I mean if this work don't switch your notebook off but you can often use hibernation mode.

Some function like WLAN enable/disable are controlled by additional software and your old machine will probably not supported for Win10 so I think you will not be able to fix this.

I want to know what i could do to help fix it, so im commin to you guys to please help him.

I replaced the two 512Mb RAM-chips in my Toshiba Satellite L30-10T (PSL33E) with 2 modules of 1Gb each. But after starting up, it crashes with a blue screen.
The computer works fine with one of the new chips, also in combination with one of the old 512Mb's, and in what ever order you can think of. Also i tried another brand: nope, it crashes when ther is 2Gb installed.
I updated the bios, didn't help.
Can anyone tell me what to do, or just rest in the knowledge 2Gb is out of my leage?

Hello,

I recently bought a Satellite C55-C-1F6 (PSCPAE) in a french store (Darty). The computer was running Windows 10 Home, but I didn't want to use this system. So I installed Windows 7 Pro, and it works great. Except hotkeys. By the way, Hotkeys are working (Fn + F1, F2, F3, ...), but nothing appears on the screen, and I don't find the right "driver" to install for the feature.
Anybody knows what is the program I need to run to have these visual notifications when I use these hotkeys ? I found some information about Flash Cards, but nothing on the "downloads & drivers" page on the Toshiba's web site (except a "Function keys" program for Windows 8 only, which disabled some hotkeys when I tried it on W7).

Thanks in advance !

I am using windows 7 ultimate x64 on L500-126, the new win7 x64 drivers have been available since yesterday.....

However, the Flash cards (Fn Hotkeys) still doesn't work after the installation of the new VAP. The flash cards is able to show up at the top of my screen, I can click them by mouse, but the Fn combinations does not work at all!

I've noticed that there is a downloadable driver called "Flash Cards support", even I installed this application the problem still remained.

Then I uninstalled VAP and kept "Flash Cards support", to my surprise, the combination of Fn+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness) worked! however, without VAP I could not use other combinations.

Are there still problems with the new VAP for win 7 x64?

P.S. The new "Hardware setup" seems to be a problem as well, I tried to change some configurations in this application but after re-boot all the options went back.

Hello

You know Flash Cards is transparent and moving flashy when pressing FN key.
After I downloaded & installed TVAP 1.1.7, Flash Card became a dark, not transparent and not moving when pressing FN anymore (shows suddenly when pressing FN).

What's wrong?

PS. I have A200-1M4

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A200-1M4: Flash Cards are dark and not transparent after v1.1.7 update

Nothing is wrong. It is simply new version. Toshiba has offered this update and fixed one big problem. Using last version the flash cards were very slow and it was very annoying. Toshiba has designed new tool and the transparency is not available anymore.

I hope you know very well that such settings need more resources and notebook runs slower. But at the end I am asking myself: is this so important for you?

Hi,

I have a Satellite A500 PSAM3A-04200E. Recently I did an upgrade from Vista to Win 7. I used my system restore disks to reinstall Vista and then did the upgrade to Windows 7 using the upgrade assistant.

I find that I can no longer use the Fn key to enable/disable features..

I have tried downloading the VAP and running it. I have also tried the Start->Toshiba->Utilities->Restart Flash Cards. Neither of these have worked even after a restart...

Can anyone give me some pointers on what to do next?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

Hi buddy,

If you have already reinstalled Toshiba Value Added Package, you should also (re)install ?Flash Cards Support Utility?. This tool controls the FN keys and is necessary to get them working.

You can download it on official Toshiba website:
www.mytoshiba.com.au

Check this!!!

Hi,

one little suggestion: remove the FN-key software and install a downloaded version. Make sure that everything from that FN-key software was properly removed from the system, so you can be sure that nothing will disturb the newly installed version.

Maybe it helps, please give a feedback if it works...

Hello, everyone,

I hope I've started this thread in the right place. I'm having problems with my browsers (chiefly Mozilla, but Chrome, too, of late).

What happens is that, upon startup, it takes quite a while (4-8 minutes) for Mozilla to start. When it does, there will be a banner at the bottom that says 'Mozilla seems a bit...slow...to start' (or something to that effect). I've clicked on it before and seen an ad for getting Grimefighter. I've seen poor reviews online for it so I've opted not to try it. Instead, I'd like some advice from here.

Once Mozilla has started, I get multiple messages about plugins still running and, if I'm trying to watch something on Hulu, Xfinity or, less frequently, Youtube, I get messages about Shockwave Flash scripts running long as well as multiple crashes. Mozilla Firefox has crashed as well (though a lot less frequently).

This has been going on for several weeks and has seemed to worsen over the last two weeks. Within the last week and a half, I've switched over to Chrome (which I've never really used) to watch videos on Hulu and Xfinity, but lately I've started getting page crashes there, too.

What can I do about this?

Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

ok...i hope i am even using the correct terminology here. i purchased this computer 36 days ago. 6 days passed the return policy, otherwise bestbuy would be eating this thing hard and fast through their teeth!

first. i noticed when i was looking at the screen that tells you what the MB and GB that there was a slight discrepency...and i know so little about computers there may be a perfectly reasonible explanation. anyway. the laptop says i have 182 GB, but i should have 200. is this a non-issue?

but the real problem is this. i will be emailing/searching/watching a video that i have downloaded/playing a game....you get the point....and one of two things will happen.

#1--the screen just goes blank. the blue lights on the keyboard indicate the computer remains plugged into outlet, the on light is lit, but the ?processing? light is on...but nothing is happening. it is as if the computer is off. the fan will shut off, and no amount of button pushing changes things. the only way to get anything going again is to shut the computer off manually and then turn it back on. things act normal from there on for quite a while.

#2--this one is a little strange. all of the above takes place only i don't have a blank screen. i get a black screen with vertical grey stripes. it's very dizzying!

the whole thing is a bit on the perplexing side and like i said before....if only i had found the reciept prior to now and if only i had listened to my gut and taken it back ... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Crashes

I am familiar with your computer. Based on what we see in our shop, I suspect the problem may be inadequate memory capacity.
I am sure you didn't mean to report the memory as 182 GB vs 200 GB as that would be an enormous amount.
I suggest you download and run the free Belarc Advisor or Everest Home. Either program will inventory your computer and tell you what working memory it finds.
Tell us what the inventory says.
If you have less than 512 MB, you simply do not have enough memory for that machine. If you have more than 1 GB, then memory is OK, and we must look elsewhere.
Even though your return privilege is up, you still have warranty rights.

But whatever the cause, I would use download AVG Free Antivirus and free antispyware. Then remove the free 90 day version of McAfee Security, using Add and Remove Software in the Control Panel. Once McAfee is removed, install the AVG software. It is free, and very good, and will not abuse resources the way your McAfee does.

Answer:Flash BIOS Toshiba Satellite A200-223

A BIOS flash will not wipe the password on a laptop...and may render it un-bootable at all if it's the incorrect flash. For BIOS password recovery on laptops it needs to be taken to a Toshiba Service Center to retrieve/reset the password.Be prepared to show proof of ownership as they will ask for it.

Hello dear forum users,

I have a BIOS virus and nothing seems to help. First I installed a BIOS version from 1.10 to 1.30(.exe), then I wiped my HDD completely and installed the newest version, which is 1.40. Now I can't reinstall the BIOS, because it says the version is the same as that installed on my laptop(1.40). Is there a flashable BIOS installation for this laptop? I couldn't find one in toshiba europe's driver page.

Answer:Satellite L550 - Flash Cards stopped working after Windows 7 64bit repair

Hi

Wait a moment, please! In which order you have installed/reinstalled the Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? It would be interesting to know what you have done exactly.

I have used the following ?repair? order for this problem:
I uninstalled Flash Cards Support Utility and then Value Added Package. I did make a restart and cleaned the system by using CCleaner. One restart more and I installed Value Added Package firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility. Now I did make the last restart and the FN keys started to work!

It?s important that you install the new versions for Windows 7!
That means Flash Cards Support Utility version 1.63.0.4 and VAP version 1.2.34_64. I founded both on the Toshiba website :)

Hi everyone!

I don't know how, but I have a problem when my windows Vista starting (running)
The problem is with those file TCrdMain.exe That file is for Flash cards, end running each time when I put my PC on (with starting windows). But I see that problem: "Run time error file TCrdMain.exe", and I should click close.
I don't know where can I uninstall that program, and where, can I find that driver(Software) ( If I uninstall and then install that driver, maybe everything will be OK). That's the main problem.

And One other question...
There are so many programs with that computer(laptop), and If I want to install Windows XP for example, where can I find everything (each programs) There are maybe 10 or 15 pograms.

That will be a big problem If I change my OS. Is there a site where I can download, everything....
Thanks for the answers, nd sorry about my english skills :-)

Hi

Did you install the right BIOS for the right OS?
You should know that Vista uses an different BIOS as the Windows XP!

Anyway, did you try to reinstall this Toshiba Flash Card Utility?
Please do this.

Firstly you should reinstall the Toshiba Common Modules and then the Flash Card Utility. Both programs can be found in the Toshiba Value added package.
