Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility issue

Question: Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility issue

Hi There

Apologies if this question is in the wrong part of the forum but I need help with a battery problem for my Toshiba Laptop.

I have a Satellite A300 and have done for about 4 years.
The battery recently has not been holding charge and I put this down to age so ordered a new one online.
My previous battery had Model Number PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh and my new battery is also PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh.

The problem is that the computer doesn't seem to like it.
If I put the battery in and connect the power adaptor the red battery icon will show and remain for around 5 minutes before starting to flash.
When I turn the computer on and log in the computer displays 'battery not detected' in the battery icon on the toolbar.
I have not been able thus far to charge the battery.

What am I doing wrong ? Any ideas on how I can get around this ?

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility issue

Hi

First of all there are no many things which need to be done if you replace the battery.
The new battery should be recognized automatically by Windows system and notebook.
If it?s not the case then the battery is not fully compatible or it malfunctions.

There are many batteries on the market; original parts and not original parts?
I recommend buying an original Toshiba batter from Toshiba service in your country.
In such case you can be 100% sure that you have bought an right and good part for your notebook.

Hello!

A Friend of mine got an Toshiba Satellite A300-1L0 Notebook with broken Display.
On Ebay he has the Chance to get a Toshiba A300-1HP Notebook, which is optically identical to his Notebook and regarding to the product Sheet of Toshiba has nearly the same technical Specs exept of Core 2 duo Model, ATI HD 3xxx Model and HDD Size, as far as i can judge. The Display has the same specs on the Product Sheet.

Further on ebay, there are Displays sold "universal" for Sattellite A300 - meaning if you type in "Satellite A300 Display" you dont have to specify which A300 model you've got.

What do you mean?
Are The Displays at least "Pin Compatible" or why should an ingenieur / Engineer use a different Pin layout on the Same Notebook Casing?
Does the A300 have the same mainboards futher?

Thank you !!!

Answer:Satellite A300-1L0 - Display compatibility question

Hi

I guess all displays released for an Satellite A300 series should be compatible with the single Satellite A300 model.
All Satellite A300 notebooks was equipped with an 15,4 " TFT display panel and this is most important fact. You have to use such 15,4 " TFT display panel.

The resolution can be different and this will not affect the display compatibility since the graphic card is able to support different resolutions.

Hello there!

I've searched this forum to see if my problem was already posed and answered but I couldn't find any relevant information, so here it is:

I have a Satellite A300-1JH (short name PSAGLE) and till now I?ve used it with XP SP3 and everything worked perfectly. But now I installed Vista 64-Bit and there are many features which don't work, because there are EXTREMELY few drivers available for the 64-Bit version of Vista.

The problems I hate the most are: turning on/off the touchpad and making the multimedia buttons work (however, they are lit up - I changed the LED setting in BIOS, but they don't do anything).
And another question: to install XP I changed the hard drive in BIOS from AHCI (or A*** - something) to "Compatibility, and now I forgot about it and installed Vista on the compatible mode.

When I tried to change it to AHCI (or whatever) Vista didn't work anymore. What is the difference between the compatible mode and the A*** mode and does it have a negative influence on my computer if I use it under compatible mode?

I hope you'll reply :).
Thanks!

Answer:Satellite A300-1JH - Can Vista run on "Compatibility" mode?

Looking at the download page it appears that Vista 64 isn't very well supported for your laptop model.
As for AHCI have a read at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Host_Controller_Interface
I suspect Vista fails to boot in normal mode because it's missing the RAID drivers for the SATA controller.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAG0E laptop.
Suddenly battery icon in my laptop started showing " There is a problem with your battery so your computer might shut down suddenly" .

Any idea why this has happened and what should i do?

What would be the price of new battery in USD?

Answer:Problem with Satellite A300 battery - battery icon shows error

Guest what: it?s the first time that I?m reading about such issue...
Of course I read many messages abut battery issues but I have never ever seen an error notification by battery icon.

You could try to recalibrate the battery.
Discharge the battery completely. Then recharge it to 100%. Repeat this twice!
Then check how the notebook works.

But you should know that sooner or later your battery would die and you would need to replace the battery.
You can get a 6 cell PA3534U-1BAS/BRS battery for about 70-90 Euros?

I need help with a problem to do with either the driver or BIOS of a Toshiba A300.
I'm running Windows 7 and lately I've been having a message saying 'Consider replacing battery'. I know this is a well known problem.

There should be a workaround otherwise Windows 7 has drained my battery.

Answer:Satellite A300: Win7 shows battery message - Consider replacing battery

Hi mate

Please check this Toshiba document:
+Notfication in the battery meter of Windows 7 "Consider replacing your battery".+
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0302U30000R01.htm

According to Microsoft this message is correct and the battery is really end of life (<40%).
There's no need to update the BIOS as discussed on several websites in the Internet.

For detailed information please refer to:

Theoretically yes but what you can do is to check battery part number on the battery and use Google to find some online store where you can order it. I recommend you to buy original Toshiba battery with Toshiba logo on it.

Hi All,

I've had my new notebook for 2 months now and overall I'm satisfied, the only 2 points of clarifications I need for help help are the below:

1) When I fully charge the battery and then click on the battery icon on the bottom right the battery life remaining is 1 and half hours....!
I thought the average standard was 3 hours? Does it mean my battery is faulty? If anybody else has the A300-1MC what is your barrey life?

2) When I start up the unit it takes around 1min and a half...I have uninstalled all startup applications and disabled un-needed applications in the device manager, is there anything else I can do to speed up the start up?

Any help & suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A300-1MC and Battery life

Hi, I have a P300D-13j
I have/had the same problems like yours - especially about the loading time - initially it was about 1:30 - 2 mins. What fixed it was a fresh install of the OS and manually install of all drivers and utilities.
The second problem with the battery - unsolved. I have and other problem with the display so i took it to the service - they changed the battery with a new one. The problem with the display is still the same and the battery life is about 1 hour and 20 mins.

Previous I had a one non-Toshiba notebook with 17'', 2.5GHz CPU (Intel Core 2 DUo), 3GB RAM and so on, the battery life was about 2:00 - 2:10.

P.S. the times that i write are based on the indexes of the battery indicator of the windows when i do something on the PC.
P.S. 2. Search the net, there are some programs that check the battery. Try some of them but my opinion is that a 15.4'' display (like yours) should hold for about 2:00 - 2:30 at least.
Hope I helped in some way. Have a nice day.

hello, a friend of mine just gave me the a300-1mo laptop and it has a problem. it is not charging the battery.

I changed the battery and the charger with another laptop which are working fine, but they did not work at mine but the only way to charge the battery is to have the laptop turned off, put the ac charger, take off the battery and connecting again the battery. Then it is charging. In case I remove the ac charger and reattach to the laptop it again stops charging.

is there any solutions to it?

Answer:Satellite A300-1MO - Not charging the battery

Hey,

If you can only charge the battery while AC/DC adaptor is connected, I think the issue is hardware related. I mean if the battery will be charged while notebook is turned off, the battery seems to be ok and even the AC/DC adaptor. Theoretically it could only be related to the mainboard?

I think you should contact nearest authorized service provider. The guys can check your notebook and help you to exchange the mainboard.

Hi

I have a Satellite A300-1B9.
The old battery was not working so I thought I should be able to fix the pc with a new one. Bought a PA3534U on ebay and tried. But the pc still don't find any battery. At least it wohn't charge. So now I don't know what to try.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Answer:Dead battery on Satellite A300?

In my opinion there is a still open question if you purchased a good working battery.
I?m not quite sure if you got an orginal part even if the part number seems to be correct.

As far as I know two 6 cell batteries with the part number: PA3534U-1BAS and PA3534U-1BRS should be compatible with this A300 series and I think you should simply try a new original battery.

Many different dealers sell non-original parts from China and from time to time such parts could not be fully compatible with different systems.

Answer:Satellite A300-1HP - Need new battery with more power

Hi!

You can get all Toshiba batteries and other Toshiba parts from an ASP (authorized service provider).
Go your local ASP and ask them.

You can also search on the Toshiba website for compatible batteries:

hi
i have an A300 20F, with a 9 cell battery, that worked perfectly till yesterday.
all of a sudden, when i unplugged it from the electricity network, it no longer works (i mean - now it works only if plugged).
does someone know this problem?
is the problem in the charger, in the battery or in the computer itself?
by the way - it?s a relatively new battery - i have it for about 5 months...
thanks

Answer:Satellite A300 - battery failure

If the system recharges the battery ok, but shuts off when you disconnect the AC Power, then my guess would be there is a problem with the mainboard.

I would send the notebook to a Toshiba Repair Center. There is an ASP (Authorized Service Provider) list on the Toshiba website.

Hi

I purchased a new battery (PA3534U-1BRS) as my old battery (3 years old) does not hold its charge as well as it should!
The new battery will not charge, the red battery indicator lights up suggesting all is well but then starts flashing after about 20 minutes.
When I turn on the computer the battery indicator on the Vista's taskbar informs me the power is on but the battery is not charging.

The company where I purchased the battery issued me with a replacement but I'm still having the same problem.
They listed the battery as a genuine and it has all the same labelling as my old battery.

Could the battery be fake or could toshiba have changed the specs of this particular battery.
The reason for my last statement is the fact that the contacts on my old battery look more prominent than those on the new one.

I've no reason to believe that the company is not kosher as I returned the first battery to their address personally after realising they were on my doorstep!
Fake or not compatible ?????

Feedback appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite A300-1BZ - New Battery does not charge

Hi

Possibly you used not compatible battery but as far as I know the PA3534U-1BRS is designed for Satellite A200 A300 L300 L300D
So it should work.

However I would recommend buying a original battery from Toshiba ASP.

Get in contact with an local Toshiba authorized service partner and order a new compatible battery for this notebook.

I think the new battery should work.

Hello every body

I had this problem with my laptop Satellite A300 (PSAJ4E). I bought a new battery and started my laptop. I have Windows Vista.
The battery is not detected. When I remove the charger its work well but with indicator of low battery so I?m update my BIOS but the problem is still there.

So I look around and tried to disable Microsoft in device manger.
Still not fixed properly. I removed charger and insert it again.
It shows the AC power supply but no charge.

Answer:New battery is not detected on Satellite A300

hi king_soft,
sold a third party battery?

in some cases the used controller (battery) is not recognised by your system...

you can try this (without any promisses):
shut down notebook, remove battery, connect ac-adapter and make sure unit is powered
insert battery and wait 24hours

disconnect ac-adapter and remove battery
switch machine on to make it fully discharged (some components holding electricity)
insert battery and start the unit
check powermanager or energy options if the battery is recognised...

never open up a battery pack - it's really dangerous!

if the battery pack is recognised by the system - you won!

if not make sure that your ac-adapter supplies the right voltage/current to your system
test another battery to make sure the loading device (notebook) is working properly
if so exchange battery pack!

But with the battery it will start but wont charge when it is turned on.

Hi all,

I've an *a300-1mz* since little more one year and I'd like to know the battery autonomy of your same model of mine.

My a300' autonomy is very small for me...*about 1h30m*

Give me any consults for verify the warning level of battery (usury) and if it would be good to make the calibration (and how to make it)

Tanks...

Answer:Satellite A300-1mz - battery usage time

Hi

1.5h is not bad!
The battery working time depends always on notebook usage.
Battery would discharge much faster running applications which needs more notebook performance.

For example watching DVDs;
In such case the CD/DVD drive as to run the whole time. This waste a lot of power.
You could reduce the display brightness in order to increase the battery working time.

But note; sooner or later the battery would die? that?s normal? and during the notebook usage the battery loses the own performance.

You can try to recalibrate the battery; discharge the battery completely and charge it again. repeat this several times?

Answer:Satellite A300 - Battery failing to charge

Hey,

Have you tried charging the battery while notebook is turned off or on?

In your case it would test it when notebook turned off. So you can make sure it?s not a software problem. Also check if the LEDs for charging and connected adapter are on or off.

In worst case it?s a mainboard related problem because you have already tried a new battery and charger so I think there is nothing more what you can do but it?s my personal opinion?

Well, in order to extend the battery working time you should check the Vista power settings.

I left the computer on for the night and in the morning i found him shout down and that message the battery reached its critical point.

What does it mean?

Answer:Satellite A300-15B battery reached its critical point

Hi

This means that the battery discharged and reached a point (between 3%-5% of battery power) which caused the notebook shut down.

You can change these settings in Vista power management.
For example you can set the settings which would let the notebook shutdown automatically if the battery discharged to a certain point.

Hello,
I have a Satellite A300-1MP, brand new, with Vista 32.

When I put it in sleep mode, it devours the battery. Something like 10-20 % overnight!
Why is this happening? Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it? Is there something I can do or is there a problem with the laptop/battery?

My old laptop is a Satellite M70-340, and in standby mode it would lose less then 5 % a day!

Answer:Satellite A300 - Devours a lot of battery in sleep mode

Although your laptop appears to be turned off in sleep mode it's still powering your RAM chips to retain the information.
If you want to keep your login session but without serious loss of battery charge then use hibernation mode but always save your files before you do.

Answer:Strange issue with ODD on Satellite A300

Maybe you should offer better explanation.

Which player do you use?
What happen when you put movie DVD into DVD drive and close it?
Usually you should get option to choose player and after you click on OK player and movie should start.
Do you have problem with original music CDs and movie DVDs or maybe with some self-made medias?

Hello,

I have Toshiba Satellite A300-20B and I have a cooling issue. Since I have this notebook I?ve been monitoring the CPU temperature and I found out that the maximum temperature I reached was aprox 80 C. The weird thing is that the cooler only starts when the CPU reaches that high temperature, if not the cooler stays off.

Another weird thing is that once the cooler starts it won't stop. It stops only if I restart or shut down the computer. Is this normal? Should I worry about something? Thank you for your answers.

OS: Windows 7

Have you noticed the same with ?factory settings? and Vista preinstalled notebook?

Dear all, I am experiencing a strange issue with DVD-ROM. Some times, after I have inserted a dvd in tray, the system hangs, but it is a strange crash. The DVD ROM stops spinning (and blinking), the *HDD Led* is constant on and I cannot access taskbar or taskmanager. However, I can navigate through menus etc via start menu.

For example, this is happening on my Vista Ultimate DVD upon inserting it in Windows Environment. If I want to boot from it it works like a charm. The same had happened with Crysis. I am mentioning these two dvd's, because they are perfectly unscratched and their quality is proven to me. How can I check if HDD or DVD are in a good condition. I have my laptop 48 hours now and I want a full replacement if something goes wrong!

Thank you in advance!

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-211 DVD reading issue

Hello

This is really strange and at the moment it?s not easy to say what the reason is for this...

Maybe you should try to remove the upper- and lower filters in Windows registry. Follow the instructions in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

The HDD you can check with Drive Fitness Test:
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the CD image to create a bootable CD and then boot from it.

I don?t know a program to check the CD/DVD drive? But you can use the Nero Speed test. There you can see how fast the drive is reading.

And maybe it?s only a software issue? Reinstalling Windows could help you solve this problem.

I have a brand new Satellite Pro A300-15V, which I have downgraded from Vista Business to XP Professional, using the original recovery disc.
Now I have problem shutting down the computer. When I click "Turn Off" it just shuts down and then restarts after a minute or two. Also, I can't bring it back from hibernation unless I shut it down on the button first.

Can anyone help, pls?

Hi

What Satellite Pro A300 model do you have exactly?
I?m not sure but in my opinion it looks like a BIOS issue.
I think the BIOS update should help you to solve this strange issue.

I've seen a lot of keyboard issues with the "A" series here, but not like this one. In the middle of a chat session my keyboard starts typing different letters than what I type. Worse, even the enter key got transposed to a different key, the "h" hey. So now, I can't even log into windows because all the keys are wonky. I was able to get into the Repair system that Vista comes with and set it to the US keyboard type. Same problem. I even tried to load Linux, but the problem starts when the computer does, so I can't even run the restore CD's.

Please advise if any of you have seen this before. I'll be calling Toshiba tech support shortly, but wanted to see if any of you had seen this before. Thank you so much for your help.

Answer:Satellite A300 Keyboard Issue

Hi mate

I think the issue cannot be solved using the Recovery disk?
For me it sounds like this keyboard issue would happen also outside the Windows OS? this would mean that this has nothing to do with software, keyboard driver, etc?.

I think it?s a simple keyboard hardware problem and I think you should ask the ASP in your country for an replacement.

The A300 should still be covered by warranty? therefore the notebook should be fixed for free?

Good luck and nice weekend?.

Hi!

I own a Toshiba A300-23E which for a week now, refuses to power on.
The power leds are on but when I press the power button it does not turn on.
Since my warranty has expired, I gave it to a techinician to find out what is the problem and he informed me that the graphic card chip is damaged but as a result the whole motherboard has to be replaced.
The option of giving it to Toshiba to replace my motherboard is not an option of course, since they request 300-400? for it. I bought the laptop 1000?, 2,5 years ago so this is obvously out of the question.

However, my problem is that I cannot find any refurbished or such motherboard on ebay or other shops. Any suggestions on that?

Do you think I have any options left or should I move on and take a hammer and release my anger on this high level sourrealistic joke manyfactured by Toshiba.

Answer:Satellite A300-23E motherboard issue

> However, my problem is that I cannot find any refurbished or such motherboard on ebay or other shops. Any suggestions on that?

You have to use a motherboard which is released especially for Satellite Pro / Satellite A300 series.
The new motherboard is really a expensive part. Maybe you could get a second hand A300 with a working motherboard and then you could switch the good mobo.

But its your own decision? I had a notebook from other manufacturer which died after 3 years of usage.
Of course it was motherboard malfunction? :(
I did try to fix this because of the motherboard price? I sold the dead notebook and bought a new one

Hi there

took delivery of a 2nd hand (light use) A300-1hv ... whenever I run anything intensive the laptop overheats and shuts down.
Speed fan shows all cores running at 65c with just normal use ..and run Nero or the like it punches up and she dies on me ..

Now I managed to figure out the Vista power settings (Finally) and ensured that it was on maximum cooling but she still dies ..

Here are my questions

1. How loud is the fan on these things, as I can bearly hears mine all the time and never hear any difference?

2. Is there any app that can manage this better?

3. Anyone else has this problem and found a solution

4. It?s less than a year old even though I am not the original owner is the warranty still valid for me?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for your answers

Answer:Satellite A300 - overheating issue

Sounds like there is dust in the heatsink. You can remove it using Compressed Air through the Vent.

I dont think the Warranty is transferrable, check the warranty document on the Toshiba Support Site.

I flashed the Bios with the most recent version, did not help my issue.
After shut the machine down, the powered on light stays on, even though the hard drives etc are shut off.

If you hold the power button down at this stage, the machine will turn off fully, then you can start it off again.

Also, when the machine is on, the power button acts strangely.
Some times a single press will shut the machine off, sometimes it will restart. Sometimes, it will do nothing

Has anyone any idea what is causing this, now that a bios update hasn't fixed it.

Cheers,

Answer:Shutdown issue on Satellite Pro A300

Hi

It sounds like you would set the notebook into the hibernation or standby mode and would not shut down the Satellite Pro A300.

Please note that the Vista shut down button default settings are set to ?sleep?.
If you want to change this settings go to:
- Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings
- Click on advanced settings
- Expand ?Power Buttons and lid?. Then Expand ?start menu button? and change it from sleep to ?shutdown?.

If the notebook was set to sleep mode it could happens that it would wake up automatically due to some enabled options like ?Wakeup on keyboard" and "Critical battery WakeUp" or "WakeUp on LAN".

I have a Satellite Pro A300-13Y with 4 USB ports. The two right side USB ports don?t work. I have bought this laptop recently (2-3 weeks ago). It has a Windows Vista Business SP1 on it. I have Chip set utility installed on it, I have checked the device manager and I have tried to find driver for this but I couldn?t solve this.

Then I called Toshiba service dek, they say I have to install again to factory standard install to see if it might be solved. But I don?t find it the best way and I have some applications installed on it and have some info on my laptop so, I would like to find another way to solve this problem.

Also I think it could be a hardware issue. Can somebody show the way how can I find or solve this problem? I can also send it to guaranty, but if I made a mistake and if there is not a hardware issue I have to pay for this.

Answer:USB port issue on Satellite Pro A300-13Y

Hi,

I know it?s not the best way but it's the only way to exclude a hardware fault. If after a recovery the USB ports won?t still work then you can send it to the repair without beeing in doubt that they will charge you for the repair.

Hi,

I've got Toshiba Satellite A300-1TM PSAGCE-08X00GPL.
After reinstalation of Windows (Vista 32bit) everything was fine til the moment when I wanted to turn off backlit of the multimedia touch buttons, those just above the keyboard (above F1-F12).

Mute,play/pause, stop and changing tracks buttons in Windows Media Player were working fine, except the second button - turning on WMP (but it was blinking after pressing).

Some time ago I had those buttons configured in a way that the first one (currently mute) has been turning off backlit, second one-has been turning on Winamp.

I've installed Value Added Package and Toshiba Assist. Now, in Toshiba Assist, after chosing 'Toshiba Buttons' I've got only empty fields.
When I chose Browse and from dir: TBS try to chose any function (e.g. Dimmer-to turn off backlit) it appear in sections Description and Path, I can type something in Option, but nothing appears in a last but most important section: Button Name, there is nothing to chose, blind fields on the list.

Of course after pressing Register there is no reaction when I press any button.
Maybe someone has seen something like this?

In HWSetup I can turn off and on backlit but it's not the point, I would like to do this with one button like before.
Value Added Package 1.1.19 installed with FeatureSelect.ini from 1.1.14 (common fail of Toshiba) also chcked v. 1.1.14 (two available versions)

Answer:Satellite A300-1TM - multimedia buttons issue

As you know many important options are available in advanced BIOS options. To avoid permanent switching into BIOS Toshiba has designed this small tool HWsetup where you can directly in running Windows have access to some BIOS options. Some of these options are accepted immediately and some of them are active after notebook restart.

Multimedia buttons are designed for comfortable notebook usage and just some of these keys can be ?reconfigured? so that you can use them to start your favourite applications.

To be honest I never tried to configure illumination option because either I want it or not so it is not problematic to make three mouse clicks and do it manually in HWsetup tool.

Fact is that after recovery image installation (Vista) everything must work properly. I cannot explain to you why is everything so strange now but what you can try is to remove some Toshiba tools like VAP, Toshiba assist and so on, restart your machine, set the BIOS to default settings and install all stuff again.

I had A300 too but I used it with Win7 32bit and without some ?special settings?.

Currently I use my Satellite A300 in Europe (I bought it here as well), where the voltage is 230V.
I am going to Mexico and I would like to take that notebook with me.

However in Mexico they have different voltage - as far as I know 100-127V.
Is it enough to buy new AC adapter while arriving in Mexico?

Thanks for the answer!

Hi

As far as I know all Toshiba notebooks are equipped with the AC adaptors which supports a Universal Input Voltage 100~240V 50/60Hz.

As you see the input voltage can be between 100V and 240V?. I think you will not have any problems in Mexico ;)

Hi

I have a simmilar problem. I have Toshiba Satellite A300-15C notebook.

Until recently the multimedia keys worked fine. I have assigned some exe file to the second to left key, and been happily using the lights on/off button to switch the dimmer.exe, but a few days ago the dimmer key stopped turning the lights and instead acts as a mute/unmute key. I have doublechecked the TBS and the key is still associated to the dimmer.exe . I have even tried associating the key to another function, but it still just mutes/unmutes the sound. Have you got any idea as to what might be causing this problem and how can I fix it?

And no, apart from random Vista updates I haven't installed anything new since before the dimmer key started acting wierd...

A friend of mine has had the same issue.
The button stopped working for non apparent reason? but I think there registry has been muddled up?
However, he has reinstalled VAP (value added package) and cleaned the OS using the CCleaner.
He did it two times but this didn?t work?
The solution was the usage of recovery disk? he has reinstalled the OS and then everything went again?

For me it look like windows registry issue?

Hi,

I am starting this thread as I am encountering problems with my fingerprint scanner and my USB port.

I have an A300-C01 Toshiba Satellite laoptop. It was purchased in September of last year. I have not used it much with the exception of the first week I got it, I have been away (overseas) and I did not take my laptop with me (I took an older one that I have). There is no chance the laptop was used while I was away as I live alone and the laptop was simply sitting in the computer room.

I started to use it again around 3 weeks ago. Around a week ago I noticed a pop-up (lower left of the screen) telling me that a USB port was having problems. I put my flash drive into the first USB port and at first it was not recognised. I tried it with another flash drive I have and that was recognised. However, whenever I start the computer I am getting that pop-up telling me that there is a problem with the USB port.

I have also encountered a problem with the fingerprint scanner. A pop-up would appear in the lower left hand side of the screen and say that the fingerprint scanner was having problems. This has happened ever since the problem with my USB port started appearing. About an hour ago I checked device manager and the fingerprint scanner/biometrics is not even showing in device manager.

Has anyone else had this type of problem?

What did you do to resolve it?

I would appreciate any feedback as I have no other options at this time until Monday when Toshiba supp... Read more

Answer:Satellite A300 - USB port and fingerprint issue

First, try a BIOS Update.

It could just be a software issue, have you installed any USB devices recently? Maybe its drivers are causing a conflict.

Otherwise try a fresh install of Windows (run Recovery). Backup your data first off course.

If a fresh Windows install doesnt work, there may be a hardware problem.

Answer:Satellite A300-146 - CD/DVD read and write issue

Hi

Maybe your CD/DVD drive is getting faulty... What do you think?

But before you think about a new drive you should remove the upper- and lowerfilters in registry. You can follow the workaround from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Make also sure that the lens from CD/DVD drive is clean. You can use a microfiber cloth to clean it. This cloth doesn?t scratch the lens.
Check this!!!

Last but not least there are no special drivers for CD/DVD drive. It?s a part of Windows and can?t be updated.

Upgraded/overlayed Vista to Windows 7 Professional and have found fingerprint scanner not working.
Unable to remove program and wont accept fresh install of fingerprint scanner or even new fingerprint to be scanned. (Old Vista program working in background somehwere?)

Is the fingerprint scanner which was installed under Vista now not compatible with WIndows 7.
There seems to be no upgrades or downloads for Fingerprint Drivers for Windows 7 as yet.

Answer:Fingerprint scanner issue with Win 7 and Satellite Pro A300

Hi mate

To be honest I doubt that Win 7 drivers would be published for this oldie.
I mean the Satellite Pro A30 is a older series and even Vista drivers were not published for this model row?
I searched on the Toshiba European driver page but I found only the W2k, Win XP drivers for this unit?

So if you want to use Win 7 on this notebook, then you need to collect the drivers at your own hand and this would be the same with the fingerprint reader. Maybe the driver designed and released for other series would work.

It looks like Toshiba is in progress of driver release for different series? you could take a look to the different series and could try the drivers.

Ok so basically, my laptop broke down and I am currently hooked into my hard drive via usb cable to a different laptop, copying my files over to this laptop. Now my problem is that a while ago when I was running out of space on my laptop, I transfered over some files to an E: Drive (My Documents, My Music and My Pictures), that was just sitting there basically empty. I checked with a computer expert beforehand to see if it was safe to put files on this drive and he said yes.

What confuses me is, I always assumed that the C: drive was my hard drive, the one I am currently taking files off but the files on my hard drive appear to be the ones I had copied over to the hard drive a while ago! (My Documents, My Music and My Pictures)

So basically my question is, how can I get my files of off my C: Drive, or are they doomed to sink with my broken laptop? I didn't have anything outstandingly important on it, just a few programs and various folders I kind of want!

I have a last resort option to do a system recovery on my broken laptop, but I am afraid this could wipe out all those files on the C: Drive, can anyone confirm if this indeed would happen?

All support is appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

Hi

Normally you don?t need a driver for USB sticks. On XP, Vista and Windows 7 the stick will be installed automatically and no drivers are anymore necessary.

Can you please tell us what OS you are using? Does this happen with ?factory settings? or have you installed another OS?
You should try it with factory settings and update the chipset driver. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Furthermore updating the BIOS could be also useful.

Do you have US or European notebook model?

Have you tested fingerprint sensor functionality with ?factory settings??

You know on the net you can find and read many stories about different problems but 80% of them say nothing like your report. No facts at all.

Have you got Toshiba recovery DVD for Vista 64-bit?
Do you use your own OS installation?
How you gone back to 32-bit? With Toshiba recovery image again?
Do you use newest IE8 or maybe Firefox?

Can you please post more information how you use your notebook and some facts that can be important for better understanding?

Hello All,

I have a problem with my Satelite A300 which is difficult to explain and i havent found this problem anywhere else in the forums. I am not an expert of computers and i will try to explain the problem.

When the battery is fully charged and i switch on the laptop, i can use the laptop for 5 minutes and i get a warning to plug in again. When i plug in, the system gets stuck. Nothing moves or nothing happens. Press the power button for a few seconds and the system is shut down. I recharge and restart again and i play sopcast video or some other video application, and then plug-in the system, it works fine. Again i can use the system unplugged just for a few minutes, if i plug in it hangs.

If i play sopcast and plugin, it works.
If i start the system in safe-mode, it starts fine and i can use the system as long as i want. Even if i plugin during safemode, it works fine.
I checked with some experts and they say the graphics card is gone. Some say there might be a virus. Some say thats a problem with the battery and charger.

Please help me. I am writing my thesis now and all my data is in this system.

Thanks,
RV

Hi mate

First of all it seems that it?s not clear for you that this is a user ? to user forum?
You can start a discussion with common Toshiba notebook users?

Back to your posting;
To be honest it?s not clear for me what you are talking about or what the problem is?

You try to upgrade the Vista to Win 7?
Well, please note that there are some installed applications which could not be supported by Win 7!

All other drivers are installed.

Answer:Satellite A300-24x: Win XP display driver installation issue

Hi

Satellite A300-24x belongs to the PSAGQE series.
It supports the Mobile Intel GL40 graphic chipset.

On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Intel driver v6.14.10.4953.
Did you install this?

Did you install the Chip Set Utility?
If not, then do this!

Satellite A300 my number 3 key broke.
Easy to repair but yet Toshiba have charged me ?43 to replace it with a complete new keyboard.
It's less than 6 months old and still in warranty.

What an absolute joke I wouldn't have another toshiba again.

Answer:Satellite A300 - keyboard button replacement issue

> What an absolute joke I wouldn't have another Toshiba again.
Well, this is your personal opinion? but I don?t agree.

However, if you would understand something about notebooks then you would know that the single button cannot be replaced.
Only the keycap can be replaced but not the keyboard button and therefore the whole keyboard must be replaced!

Furthermore the warranty covers only the hardware issues which are not caused by notebook user? I don?t know why your keyboard button has broken (maybe it you was your fault) but I think you have contacted the ASP in your country and have talked to the technician?so why you didn?t explain that this was not your fault?

Anyway? the case should be clear now?

Hi.

Well. Contacted Toshiba Australia. and got some information.
Well, the person I spoke to said that he would try to find the drivers on the Toshiba European website, which he did. And he said to uninstall my camera assist software.
So I did, downloaded the new version, installed it. But i am still getting problems, saying that windows vista home premium, a USB device, is not functioning and windows cannot recognize it.
And also, got a driver error still, saying to either open the driver software or restart your computer.

Went to the Toshiba forums, and had a look, did post on their, but could not seem to find any answers, and did that in the last week or two.
Just, want to use Skype and MSN messenger.
But if i cannot get these problems to be resolved, then no point in installing, probably will not work, and have not tried this feature out yet on my machine.

Any one had similar problems, with their Toshibas? and where do i go from here.
Really stretching my head and not sure what to do?
The guy said maybe to do a recovery disk, but do not really want to go down that road.

That would mean having to spend hours reinstalling everything, and I do not have really the time to do that at the moment.
Really busy at the moment. Can any one offer any other suggestions or where do i go from here?

Had this problem, when i got it out of the box, and purchased from Harvey Norman, Burnie, Tasmania.
Cheers Marvin.

Hello everybody,

I just did an upgrade for my Satellite A300 to Windows 7 32. I started my laptop and everything was fine but after I write my username and password and log on my display goes black.
I can hear that it is working but I can?t see anything.

When I used the safe mode it worked fine. I checked the display info and it said unknown
I downloaded the latest drivers for ATI card from the Toshiba site but when I installed it, it said driver not detected because I think I am in safe mode and it is not connected and I can't install it in normal mode because I can't see anything

What should I do?

Please help

I recommend you to install Win7 again following installations order posted there.

Hi all,

I have a Satellite A300-2CT notebook with Windows XP SP3 for one year. There is a problem in the ethernet network adapter, I think.

If I connect my computer to a wireless network, everything goes fine. However, if I connect the computer to a wired network through ethernet adapter, then problems start.

A little bit later after connection; 'something' happens and my windows theme turns to 'classic', moreover none of the applications that uses sound card start NOT to work. Also, all system slows down very much for every one or two minutes. When I check the running applications in this 'slow times', I see that Deferred Procedure Calls takes a lot of CPU time.

Problem does not finish with all these, after I disconnect ethernet connection and restart my computer, wireless adapter application (Atheros) takes the control of wireless connections, so I cannot connect the wireless networks that I wanted. I have to restart computer again to fix this.

I have updated the driver of ethernet network adapter, nothing changes.

As a conclusion, I think that ethernet network adapter has a problem and maybe it conflicts with other hardware (like sound card).

Is there any suggestion to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A300-2CT - Ethernet network adapter issue

Hi alp37,

I never heard about such an issue and I think everything what you can do is updating the LAN and sound driver. Both you can download from official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

If it doesn?t work I think it?s a software problem I think? I would recommend reinstalling Windows from Toshiba recovery disk. That can restore factory settings and then you can test it again.

Answer:ThinkPad (T430) battery compatibility issue

HelloThe batteries for T410/420 are not compatible with T430, even Lenovo genuine ones. Because of T430 features hardware authentification of the battery installed. The batteries for old laptops like T410/420 don't have such features (authentification chips inside). This chip missing causes the battery being installed in the T430 can't be charged. So, you have to purchase Lenovo original battery for T430.

I'm really lost, just tried to add, install almost every possibble driver from many other copanies so I'm looking for help here.

If someone have also this problem or have solved this problem, please give me a link or advice how to get this device working on Vista x64.

Answer:Satellite A300-15J: Vista x64 Card reader driver issue

Hi

Seems the Vista 64 bit drivers are no available for this new Satellite A300-15J PSAJ4E series.

But as far as I know the notebook supports a common Multiple Digital Media Card reader which was built-in in another notebook series.
So why you don?t try some 64bit Vista Card Reader Controller driver published fro i.e Satellite A210 or another series.

I would recommend testing some drivers?

Good luck

Hi,

I have some problems with the T8100 processor in my notebook. The power-saving features, especially Speedstep, doesn't work correct under Windows Vista and XP. If I use High Performance in Vista Power Options, the processor switches permanently between 1,25 GHz and 2,1 GHz.

The Min. and Max. Processor State is set to 100%. I've also installed XP and Toshiba Power Saver, Automatic CPU processing speed doesn't work there, and this tool should be updated! I hope these problems will be fixed soon!

Answer:Satellite A300-1HP Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 "Penryn" Issue

Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology require a compatible BIOS, a compatible operating system, and a compatible Intel processor.
The Satellite A300-1HP supports all these features.

But I wonder how did you test the CPU performance and why do you suggest that this feature does not work correctly? ?:|

From my knowledge the Core 2 Duo CPUs don't run *always* with the highest performance.
If the CPU performance is not needed then the CPU switches to a lower level to save the power and to reduce the heat dissipation.

So I really don't see any problems with Intel Speedstep Technology!

By the way; I've noticed that new BIOS updates are leased on the Toshiba page. Try to update the BIOS.

So it?s not easy to say what?s wrong exactly.

Just view questions;
Did you try a new OS installation?
Did you update any drivers (especially graphic card driver?)
Is your BIOS up to date?
Did you notice a higher internal temperature?
Are the cooling modules free of dust?

Hi,

After I downgraded my Vista HP to Windows XP I came across a very strange thing. There were no problems with drivers as they could be easily found on the TOSHIBA web-site. After installing all the drivers I mentioned that the overall sound quality got worse.

When I started investigating the issue I came across an anomaly. When you open a file in Winamp and, without closing it, open a movie in Windows Media or any other video player, the sound improves a lot.

The same happens with the modem. When you start connecting, or to be more specific, when the modem's speaker turns on... Voila, the sound improves again. I tried lots of things... like downloading drivers from different sites and of different versions and re-installing them.

But nothing helped. There were no problems with Vista so, I guess, it's a software problem. I googled a bit and found a few more people that have the same thing.

I hope somebody can help me because what's the use of Harman\Kardon speakers if they don't produce proper sound?..

Hello dear colleagues,

As the title says, I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-128 code PSK30E. It has a 2nd generation Intel i5-2410M processor.

Laptop running fine and all, but I recently got a nice deal on a newer laptop, with overall lower specs, but a better processor. It is a DeII Latitude E5530, with a 3rd gen Intel i5-3230M.

Going on Intel's site, I saw that basically both processors have the same TDP of 35W, and same package size, both run on HT and have dual cores, the only difference being that the architecture changed from 32nm to 22nm and the frequency is higher.

Also, 2nd gen supports 1066/1333 MHz memory, and 3rd gen supports 1333/1600 MHz. My memory is 1333.

Of course, as you guessed, I intended to swap the processors between the two laptops. Upgraded the BIOS on both of them, then replaced processors, re-assembled, and at start-up, surprise: The DeII recognized the older version of i5, ran fine and all, but the Toshiba didn't.

It just opened when I pressed the ON button, but the screen remained black. Then I pressed again the button, it shut down as normally. (I repeat, BIOS already upgraded, as somebody recommended). I disassembled again the Satellite, checked if everything is in place, and second start-up time still the same.

Then I got annoyed and swapped back the processors onto their original Laptops. And, both of them are running just fine.

So if somebody came across this problem could you please advise if you managed to sort it o... Read more

Answer:Satellite L755-128 - CPU compatibility issue

Hi

I don?t know any notebook manufacturer who would officially support an CPU upgrade.
Mostly the CPU upgrades on notebooks are your own decision and nobody could provide you an confirmation that an notebook with new CPU would work or run properly.

Indeed many people try to update the CPUs and in many cases this works? also on Toshiba notebooks.

But there are some important notes:

1) you have to ensure that the chipset on the motherboard would support new CPU. In case it doesn?t, you cannot use it

2) even if new CPU would be supported by chipset, there is still open question about the BIOS support. BIOS is modified for each notebook series and it could be possible that some CPUs would not be fully compatible or supported by BIOS.

As you see, the CPU upgrade is not very easy and it?s no matter that another notebook which was equipped with the same CPU as the L755 supports the other CPU? there are much more factors which could affect such upgrade.

On startup and whenever i attempt to open Catalyst Control Centre, Windows displays the error "Catalyst Control Centre: Host application has stopped working".

Is anyone else having similar troubles.
I tried reinstalling the drivers off the toshiba site, and installing the new drivers on the ATI site and everything I could think of. Since the either drivers aren't working im not able to go above the 1024x768 resolution.

Any suggestions ?

Answer:Satellite A300 Catalyst Control Centre issue - Host application has stopped working

Hi

I googled for this error message and found many people having this issue.
It?s not related to the notebook but to the driver?
Who knows why?.

Anyway, in most cases the people solved this by new driver Catalyst installation.
You should do this;

- update your Vista to the latest state
- remove the old Catalyst from the system
- remove/uninstall the graphic card driver from the device manager
- reboot the notebook and install the Catalyst and driver again

Should run!

Hi,

Has anyone ever tried installing a SanDisk SSD to a Toshiba Satellite laptop or know if these two in general are compatible or not?

I am specificially looking into insalling a 240 GB SanDisk Ultra II SSD on my Toshiba A200-1BP, or PSAECE-01U00XTE, to replace the existing 160 GB Toshiba 2.5" SATA HDD (MK1637GSX).

The SSD seems to have the right form (2.5") and the interface (SATA) but I am not sure if these two are enough to ensure compatibility. Unfortunately, SanDisk says (unlike Crucial for example) it does not provide compatibility information for specific computer models. Thank you.

Why can I not install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Toshiba Satellite L750-22x?
I get a processor compatibility error.

Intel i3 M380 2.53GHz

Answer:Cannot install Windows 8 on Satellite L750 - CPU compatibility issue

Hi

The internet provides some details about this error message.
It seem that in order to install the Win 8 CP the CPU should support PAE/NX/SSE2 features

Never-eXecute Bit ( [NX bit|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit] ) allows marking of memory pages as non-executable.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is a previous standard that is supported by Intel and AMD CPU. Therefore all CPUs that support NX would also support SSE2 too.

Usually enabling the XD (for Intel CPUs) or NX (for AMD CPUs) in BIOS should disable this error message.
But if this is not available in BIOS then either the CPU does not supports this feature or the BIOS does not support this option.

According to Intel Ark page the Intel Core i3-380M supports Execute Disable Bit. So possibly the BIOS does not support this feature
http://ark.intel.com/products/50178/Intel-Core-i3-380M-Processor-

It seems you need to wait for new BIOS

Hi all,

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1NT (Satellite Pro A300-1GT) -- second hard drive

Hmm?. As far as I know you cannot use an second HDD in this notebook.
There could be an second HDD bay but this would not mean that an usage of second HDD would be possible.

What you have to know is that A300 series has been equipped with different motherboards and not all mobos provides an second HDD controller.
If you want you could remove the cover secured the second HDD bay and could check if connectors are available.

If not then you cannot connect and use the second HDD.

On European page I found just 6 cell batteries for your notebook model. Maybe you should order the same model and be sure that everything will be OK.

Hi Community.

I bought this model of laptop back in August and I've noticed issues with the battery.

Recently the laptop shut down when the operating system reported it still had over one and a half hours of charge left. I recalibrated the battery and it was working fine again after that until about 10 days later when it repeated the same behavior.

I have checked the preinstalled Toshiba Health Monitor which is reporting the battery has no problems, I'm just wondering if anyone here has experienced this issue on this or a similar model?

I am currently using the "eco" power setting that is the default for this machine and the Operating System is Windows 8.1.

Are there any known problems with the recent Windows Operating System that cause it to misread the battery that I am perhaps unaware of?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Battery issue on Satellite L50-B-1NL

Windows system does not affect the battery performance but Windows system provides some battery settings in the Windows power options.

In control panel -> power options ? power plant settings -> Advanced options you will find the Battery settings.
There you can configure when the notebook should power off.

But to be honest I?m not sure if any settings would be responsible for your battery power issue.

It looks like the notebook does not report the correct battery power level? therefore I would recommend you to calibrate the battery once again? if the problem would still appear, you should replace the battery.

Hiya,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-C-276 that is less than a year old and still within warranty. It is in brilliant condition as it rarely gets used. However, from the very 1st day I took it out of the box, the laptop suddenly shuts down without warning because of low battery when there is sufficient battery power left. It doesn't turn back on until it is plugged into the charger. When it boots back up after being plugged in, it doesn't show the battery power percentage as it shows how long it will take for the battery to fully charge instead (in hours/minutes). It then gets to "02 mins to full charge" but remains like that for a lot longer than 2 minutes before it eventually fully charges and the orange light turns to white.
I have already edited the settings to warn me when the battery power is low, but the warning messages still do not appear at all. The battery health also shows as "good" in the PC Health Monitor.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced this before, or have any tips on how to resolve it?
Thank you

Few days ago I've bought Toshiba Satellite c-50a-14w. The battery is being charged normally (to 100%), but when I plug the computer out the battery shows only 72% loaded.

Does it mean that the battery is broken?

Answer:Battery issue on new Satellite C50-A-14W

Hi

New battery should be calibrated in case to reach the full performance.

To calibrate the battery, you should charge the battery until the battery indicator would switch to green (or blue). Then disconnect the AC adaptor and keep the battery discharging until it would be fully empty.
This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the row.

If the battery charging status would not change even if the battery has been calibrated, you should get in contact with Toshiba authorized service provider to check or replace the battery.

Hello,

I bought a few days ago a new C50-A-19U Satellite notebook.

Everything works without problems except when I unplug the power cable, the battery level goes from 100% to 50% at once.

If I try to charge the notebook, the battery will charge normally up to 50% and then go from 50% to 100%.

Anyone else experience this problem?

The problem will begin when I come back to my country where the keyboard layout is QWERTY. I plan to sell the laptop when I get back (I don't like hanging on to a laptop for a very long time). The thing is the Satellite A300 is officially sold in my country but not the Satellite Pro A300. I am now wondering if the keyboard for the A300 is compatible with the Pro A300 (looking at the forum threads for older models suggest that they are compatible but I am not completely sure).

Can anyone provide a definitive answer to this compatibility question?

Thanks!

Answer:Are the keyboards of Satellite Pro A300 and Satellite A300 the same?

The keyboard button layout doesn?t depend from the Satellite Pro or Satellite series but from the country where the notebook has been purchased.

Different countries need different keyboard button layouts and therefore the buttons are assigned to different positions on the keyboard.

But the keyboard itself could be used in Sat Pro or Satellite notebook too.

Why does the Satellite A300-1EC stand dearer as Satellite A300-1EG, but on configuration loses him?

What is their substantial distinction in?
What model of notebook can advise, in this price range?

Answer:What is the difference between Satellite A300-1EC & Satellite A300-1EG

Hello

Satellite A300-1EC belongs to PSAG0E group and Satellite A300-1EC to PSAG4E. When this model numbers are different that means they don't have the same hardware configuration.

The first one has Intel 965GM (Crestline) graphic controller. The second one has ATI M82XT (256MB). The HDD capacity is not the same. The first one has 160 GB HDD and second one 250 GB.

So that is the difference between these A300 notebooks.

In my opinion the second one is better. You must make your decision and choose the right one.

I own a satellite l555-123 which as of late, won't start (most of the time), not even without the battery and when on power. I managed to start it once, and what i saw was a popup that said "your battery is critical please change it as soon as possible" or something along these lines (but it normally got on windows and everything, it just couldn't last over 5 minutes running windows). I have 2 questions if you could be so kind to answer them.
Is it possible that it's not starting when it's on a power source without a battery on?
Which model's battery is also compatible with my model? Just to know in order to buy one

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

For the past few months my health monitor has warned me of the life on my battery depleting till I finally got tired and bought a new one..

Upgraded from a 6 cell to 9 cell... I know excellent decision huh.

Problem is now, the monitor still thinks the old battery is in and warns me I need to get a new battery...

Is there some setting i'm supposed to configure like I do with my printer when I install a new ink catridge or should it just detect it when installed.

I don?t know what notebook you have but with monitor do you mean PC health monitor from Toshiba?

If yes I would try to reinstall the program. You can download it on Toshiba page.

Ss far as I know there is nothing what you can do expect reinstalling the tool but normally it should work.

Hi,

I've got this Toshiba Satellite C650 from a friend, who has given it to me to reinstall Windows7.

Before reinstalling I noticed that the laptop didn't turn on on battery. When I pluged the charger it started and once started it ran on battery without any problem. Also, when it's turned on and the charger is removed the battery icon does not show how much time remaining and show unknown time remaining instead.

When I reinstalled Windows the problem didn't solve.
I updated BIOS, but the problem still didn't solve.
I started to think that it's a hardware problem.

The laptop is brand new - one month old.

I'll be very grateful if someone could help me or point me to the solution of this problem.
The laptop is still under waranty, but I decided to ask here first and here some other opinions.

Thank you!

Try this:
Remove and disconnect the battery and the AC adaptor.
Now leave and don?t touch the notebook for some time (2-3 hours)
Then press and hold power button 30 sec long.

Now connect the battery and the AC adaptor and keep it charged until the battery indicator would turn to green (or blue)
Then power up the unit and check how it works.

PS: its always advisable to calibrate a new battery? this means that the battery should be discharged fully and charged again until 100% has been reached.
This procedure should be repeated several times in the row
