Satellite A300 - BIOS downgrade after BIOS upgrade

Question: Satellite A300 - BIOS downgrade after BIOS upgrade

I did a BIOS upgrade from version 1.6 to 2.10-win at the recomandation of the Toshiba site, for my notebook A300 1N0 - PSAGUE model.
Touchpad not working anymore. I have 2 operating systems, XP and W7 and is the same.

I boot the notebook with Live Windows CD and Live Ubuntu CD and nothing changed.
The mouse is working but the touchpad is still dead.
Any advice?

How can I find the old version of BIOS to make a downgrade ?

Preferred Solution: Satellite A300 - BIOS downgrade after BIOS upgrade

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A300 - BIOS downgrade after BIOS upgrade

Try to contact Toshiba authorized service provider in your country. They have access to Toshiba database and access to BIOS archive.
I am sure they can send you old BIOS version and you can downgrade BIOS on your notebook.

Answer:Cannot upgrade BIOS for my Satellite A300

What exact error message appears?
And most important, have you unpacked the BIOS files, after downloading? If not, do that and try it again.

BIOS update version depends on what operating system you are using. I guess you have WinXP installed if you use version 2.70. For Windows Vista you should use version 1.30.

Please check the right BIOS versions.

Hello,

I bought Toshiba Satellite A300-24X notebook WITHOUT preinstalled operating system.

I'm running Linux and I want to upgrade my BIOS from version 1.8 to 1.9 via some DOS/FreeDOS utility.

The main problem is what the BIOS flash utility running only under Windows OS.

Why Toshiba do not provide DOS flash utility for people who bought notebook without Windows OS and want/need to upgrade BIOS without buying/installing Windows OS only for these purposes???

Is it possible to upgrade my BIOS (Insyde H2O) with some DOS flasher?

regards,
Zarko

Answer:BIOS (Insyde H20) upgrade from DOS - Satellite A300-24X

Hi

You could update the BIOS using the floppy disk but you would need a traditional BIOS update.
But fact is that ONLY Win-based BIOS is available on the Toshiba page and it can be updated only running a Windows OS.

But as far as I know the local ASP (authorized service partner) in your country could update the BIOS using a floppy disk.

So if you need the BIOS update and don?t have installed Microsoft Windows OS then you would need to contact the ASP guys.

Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW with BIOS 3.5 version. Can I make upgrade it to 1.7 version which i will download from Toshiba site?
Whay i want to do this?
Because I have a lot of problems with this notebook. For example:

1) Slow system loading on Compatibility mode
2) When I will set AHCI mode and install SATA drivers then loading is faster but I have problems with Critical Error

I don't know what to do :/ Maybe I have bad drivers (it is not possible because all drivers are from Toshiba site) or maybe I didn't install some drivers (there are a lot of drivers on Toshiba site, I didn't download and install all of them)

Can someone write the list of drivers which i need to install?

Thanks in advane and have a nice day.

Yours,
Tralla

Answer:BIOS Upgrade on Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW

Hello Tralla

As I can see you have already posted one thread with the same question and I am wondering you ask the same again.

You have these ?problems? because you didn?t install WXP properly. If you want to have well preinstalled WXP and use it with full speed use AHCI settings in BIOS and load WXP with all SATA drivers.
After doing this notebook will run fast, you will not have problems and BIOS update must not be done at all.
This theme is discussed very often on this forum and please take a little bit time and check this forum about WXP installation using SATA driver.

Hi,

I was trying to upgrade the BIOS after reading an alert from TOSHIBA TEMPRO, after some time, it didn't seem to launch so I ran it a second time, then both BIOS application showed up in the taskbar only and it froze while I didn't start upgrading or anything, I had to power off.

I tried to reboot but now, it just stays on black screen ( the monitor isn't even powered, as if the system wasn't running ), all leds are powered with the "accessing hard disk" flashing, the led from the DVD reader keeps on flashing while making a noise every 3 seconds or so.

I've read on the forum that there may be no solutions but to take it to an authorized service provider, but I'm willing to take any possible solution before doing it.

Thanks for any advice.

Alex.

Answer:Satellite A300 Won't boot after powering off during BIOS upgrade

Hi, mate

Unfortunately, you need to reflash the Bios as something gone wrong during update. You should contact the Asp and ask them to reflash. There is no other way to get your laptop working.

Hi,

I have downloaded the latest XP BIOS from the Toshiba website, as I have downgraded to XP from Vista.

My A210 has BIOS v1.70 (for Vista) installed.

The XP BIOS I downloaded is only for Winphlash, and stops trying to install as the current BIOS is different from that to be installed.
I have tried using the advanced settings, but the update freezes just before writing the new BIOS.
Is there a way I can download a version to install from a boot CD, or any other way of installing from Winphlash.

Thanks,
Paul.

Answer:Satellite Pro A210: BIOS upgrade/downgrade to XP Fails

I?m a little bit confused?

First of all on the Toshiba European driver page you can find only the BIOS for the Vista OS 32bit.

I didn?t find an special BIOS version for Win XP!

Furthermore the released BIOS can be updated ONLY from running OS. You cannot update it from the floppy diskette or CD !!!

Hi,

I have a Satellite A110, I was doing a flash upgrade using the utility from Phoenix inside windows XP. The Upgrade flash my desktop, I needed to unplug the battery to be abble to reboot the Notebook. After that every time that I try to power on the notebook it ask me a password on the BIOS but I never has put a password inside the BIOS.

How can I do please ?

Cheers,

Answer:Satellite A110 - BIOS password after BIOS upgrade interruption

If the BIOS settings were corrupted, the system may think there is a password.

Basically you need to get the password removed professionally. An ASP can do it for you, I dont know if they will charge you unless its something they will cover for free.

I updated the bios after I had notified from Toshiba about the Bios v3.50. The process was done by the Toshiba Utility software, and after the reboot there is "Password =" on a blank screen and it not recognise my BIOS password, writing "Not certified".

I have also tried the HDD password but no luck.

What can I do now?

Answer:Satellite Z30-A-12R BIOS password not recognised after BIOS upgrade

Hi

Before trying to update the BIOS, all passwords should be removed!
BIOS password can be removed by authorized service provider available in your country.

But the unknown HDD password cannot be removed anymore.
In such case the HDD isn?t accessible and cannot be used.

Sorry mate but in my opinion you have only one chance to get the BIOS password removed; you need the ASP assistance.

Answer:Satellite A300-1mz: Bios update yes or no?

> If I decide for upgrading it, what are benefits??? It's really necessary or simply recommended?
The BIOS update is advisable only if you have some issues with your notebook.
If your notebook is running properly then a BIOS update is not necessary!

> Besides, if I'd upgrade hard drive with a new 500gb, it works properly with the bios 1.70 or new hard drive needs higher bios?
The new HDD should be recognized by BIOS properly event it?s an older version.
It?s not easy to say what HDD is better.
Usually faster HDD with higher rpm can be louder and can develop more heat as an slower HDD.

But in most case it?s not matter how fast the HDD is? there shouldn?t be a temperature issue?

Toshiba offers WIN BIOS updates. That means that BIOS update can be done under Windows operating system only. You cannot do this if you use Linux.

Is there some reason for BIOS update? I mean, if everything is OK you must not update BIOS to the latest version.

Hi all,

I have a Satellite A300/600 (PSAG4A-02600M), which I have just installed W7 x64 on (I did a clean install). I am upgrading the drivers as per the Toshiba website. I noticed there is a BIOS upgrade to version 1.8 - I am currently running version 1.5.

I have downloaded the update but when I try to run it I get the following message: "C:\Users\HELIF~1\AppData\Local\Temp\isc6632tmp\\i nsydeflash.exe could not be executed."

The PC is running fine at the moment, no major glitches - do I need V1.8? If so, how do I remedy this situation?

Other glitches so far in the upgrade process for me have been:

Every time I pressed the mute button W7 UAC popped up to ask me if I wanted to allow the Toshiba program to adjust a system setting. Fixed this issue by moving the ButtonSetting.ini file and making a registry change.

Loaded Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I inserted my XD card from my camera, W7 recognised it just fine, but WLPG could not see it. Therefore I am unable to import my photos off the card. Well, I can do it through W7 but WLPG gives you the options of fine tuning the import process which is what I'm after. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling WLPG after I'd installed all the drivers from Toshiba but it still won't recognise it. Still an issue.

Lastly, in relation to WLPG, I can't seem to download Image Composite Editor, whenever I try the link to the download (ftp or html), Firefox just displays a blank page with "waiting for ... Read more

Such BIOS is not available on Toshiba EU driver page for download.

Hi!

It is not possible to downgrade the BIOS version because only the newest BIOS is available on the Toshiba European driver page.

As far as I know an ASP (authorized service provider) would be able to downgrade the BIOS.

However, the new BIOS which is available on the Toshiba page should not make any troubles.
In your case I would firstly recommend accessing the BIOS and to set it to the default settings.

Hello everybody!

I am a kind of a modding enthusiast and recently got myself an old C870. I really like the model because it is quite lightweight for its size and performance.

It originally had an i5-3230M, but I have an i7-3720QM so I tried that too. It works, but clock speeds when stress testing are about 1,2-1,4GHz lower (~2,0GHz compared to 3,4GHz on another laptop with that CPU), and sometimes it even reboots when under load.

So I looked for a BIOS upgrade and guess what I found - it seems that they "Set CPU power limit to address an adapter issue" from v. 1.40 on! It seems that they limited the power fed to the CPU to only 30-35W.

Now I want to test an older BIOS and see how it works, but it seems that the links to the older versions are broken (they erroneously lead to the Satellite E50x/E55x/U50x):

I have a P50T-B-10K laptop and have recently installed UEFI version 1.5.

Unfortunately, it looks like it has buggy support for Intel virtualization. When virtualization option is set to off, programs which use VT-x correctly detect that it's turned off. When it's set to VT-x option, then software which needs virtualization detects that virtualization is not supported.

It used to work fine with stock firmware (I think it was version 1.1 maybe?) and I think it worked fine with version 1.3, for which I have installation on my computer.

Unfortunately, installation for version 1.3 doesn't have any obvious way to do the downgrade.

Any ideas how to force it?

Answer:How to downgrade BIOS on Satellite P50t-B-10K?

You want to downgrade the BIOS?
This isn?t possible if you don?t have a traditional BIOS version.

On the Toshiba EU driver page you will find only the latest BIOS and the win-based BIOS version does not allow BIOS downgrade.

By the way: after BIOS update, you should load the BIOS default settings.

PS. The CPU i7-4700HQ supports definitely the VT-x

I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum in it.

For some reasons I'm not a big vista fan.
So i downgraded my OS to XP and as i was searching for drivers and all for XP i saw a Bios update for my laptop it was 5.20 which was for XP. While for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on website.

Now from here my problems started.
I downloaded that v5.20 bios and updated it.
Soon problems started like laptop gets overheated, it freezes, and sometimes refuse to give performance.

As i was unable to find all my drivers for XP i switched back to Vista with the help of my recovery DVD. But the problem remained the same with Vista also so finally i took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Centre.

They said there is a problem in motherboard so they fixed it but they didn't fixed the Bios.
I still have v5.20 on my machine.

I tried to downgrade to v2.40 but it always shows an error.

Can Anyone pls help me.. I'm able to boot with a USB thumbdrive but i don't have a DOS version of Bios v2.40.

Please if anyone can provide me with my version of bios.

Answer:Satellite A200 - Cannot downgrade the BIOS to v2.40

I don?t know why you want to downgrade the BIOS.
Did you read the information on the Toshiba website for the BIOS version 5.20? I founded this:
> Supported both Windows XP and Vista OS

So I think you should not downgrade the BIOS. The newest BIOS 5.20 is for Windows XP and Vista.
You can find this information on Toshiba Asia because you have Asia model (not Europe):
http://www.pc.toshiba-asia.com =>
BIOS version 5.20 upgrade for Satellite A200( For PSAF0*-****** & PSAFC*-****** ONLY)

The Toshiba Service Center did make a good work with the newest BIOS.

Recently got an e6430 with bios a A13. I wanted to downgrade to A12. Every time I do it, the process does the same thing. It has a progress bar saying it's preparing to update, but then just reboots and nothing changes. I've used DOS bootable USB, and Windows methods, neither is updating the bios.
I tried going to A03. Tried to going A18, A20, etc. But nothing ever works. The progress bar says it's preparing, then reboots.
Is there some setting I'm missing? I don't see some sort of "allow downgrade bios" option in the bios settings list.
Thanks.

Does anyone know what is a default version of BIOS in my Satellite pro A300 PSAGDE 1NT ? I bought it in 2008. I've found only an update version of it on technical support, what is insyde 2.20 WIN.
If anyone have the same previous type of BIOS, will it be possible to make a recovery file for me? This of mIne is already corrupted and there is nothing i can do.

Answer:Need default BIOS version for Satellite Pro A300

Hi, I don't think there is a default version preinstalled. It depends on when the notebook was manufactured. Later batches would have a later BIOS version preinstalled.

The only solution may be to send the notebook to an ASP for a quote.

Hi there,

I attempted to update BIOS on my new Satellite Pro A300-1EA (PSAG9E-001001EN) as prompted by Tempro, from version 1.50 to 1.90. The system froze completely during BIOS flash, after waiting for 1 hr, I decided to turn off the power and pray for the best. Thank heavens, everything still works, but the BIOS is still v1.50, not been updated. I have now read so many posts on the forum regarding blotched BIOS update and am now very cautious regarding undergoing any BIOS updates at all.

My questions are: Are there any issues regarding this particular update and/or with the InsydeFlash facility? Are BIOS updates all generally so tricky that they best be avoided? What are the alternative ways to update BIOS, hopefully less dangerous? Also, could there be any potential damage to my laptop related to this miscarried BIOS flash that I should be aware of?

Many thanks indeed!

Answer:Re: Satellite Pro A300-1EA - Difficulties in BIOS update

I've done many BIOS updates and they have never failed. As long as you follow the instructions, you should be fine.

Tips:

1) Never update a the BIOS on a laptop with faulty RAM or freezing problems. Run Memtest before doing the BIOS update for peace of mind. www.memtest.org
2) Boot Windows from a cold boot. Dont do a BIOS update from Resume/Hibernation mode
3) Ensure the Battery is full and the AC Adapter is connected
4) Close all the programs you can, and Disable your Virus scanner
5) Run the BIOS update as Administrator

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased a secondhand Satellite Pro A300 1DZ.
Put a fresh copy of Windows xp home on it.
I then went on to install all the drivers needed from Toshiba's own site and at the end of this I thought it may be a good idea to update the bios????

OH DEAR what a big mistake.

Now the netbook will NOT start windows.
So I thought thats ok I will just start from the begginning and reinstall windows again, but it is telling me it cannot find a hard disk on my netbook?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am going crazy,
Could someone please tell me how to fix this? Thank you x

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1DZ does not find HDD after BIOS update

Hi

I think the option SATA mode has been set to AHCI and therefore the Windows XP cannot find the HDD.
This is because of the SATA controller.
You can set the SATA mode from AHCI mode to compatible mode and this will allows you to install the Win XP on the notebook without the usage of SATA drivers.

So, you?ve got two options if you want to install Win XP:

AHCI mode -> but you have to include SATA drivers
Compatible mode -> Win XP installation possible without the SATA drivers

Hi, I'm hopping someone here can help me to fix this without sending it to the service shop if possible.

I've just updated tempro when it notified me of a bios update. I ran the update but it completely froze the system (Vista). I've waited 15 or so minutes for it to show any sign of life (either lights flashing or the system unfreezing) and then I turned it off figuring the thing crashed. Now it won't turn on.

Is there a way to fix this? As it's turned on it checks the cd drive, can it be fixed by updating the bios from a cd? Or a flash key?

Help please :(

Hello every body:

I bought a Toshiba laptop Satellite A300-247 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Then I formated it and divided the hard (320 GB) into 6 partitions and installed Windows XP on drive C and Windows Vista on drive D after changing the SATA controller mode in BIOS to compatibility. The computer was working well with the 2 operation systems. However, when I updated the BIOS to version 1.9, the two operating systems stop working and one of them only can be installed: XP can be installed when SATA controller mode is put on compatibility and Vista can be installed only when SATA is changed to AHCI.

Is there is any explanation of what happened? And can I install the 2 operating systems together again?

Thank You

Answer:Satellite A300 - After BIOS update I can't install two OS

Hi

First of all I doubt that this has something to do with BIOS update. I think after BIOS update the HDD mode was changed from AHCI to Compatibility and so the OS didn?t boot.

Anyway, in Compatibility mode you can install Vista and XP without SATA drivers. This shouldn?t be a problem.

But do you know the difference between Compatibility and AHCI? The AHCI mode is faster and so I would recommend this mode.
As you said Vista you can already install in AHCI mode and for XP you need Intel Storage Manager. This package includes the SATA drivers that you need and here is a step by step guide to use these drivers correctly:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

Last but not least you can install 2 OS. You can do what you want! ;)

Hello!

In my BIOS (ver. 1.60) --> Advanced menu there is an option: USB Sleep and Charge. I can set it to Disabled, Enabled (Mode1), Enabled (Mode2).
My question is: What is the difference between Mode1 and Mode2?

Thanks for your answer.

Answer:Satellite A300-1NO - BIOS - USB Sleep & Charge

?Hi,

I?m also not an expert but as far as I know it?s depending on the device that you use what mode you need for Sleep & Charge. The default setting in BIOS is mode 1 and if it doesn?t work (Sleep & Charge) you have to switch to mode 2

I have also checked the user manual but it doesn?t offer more details. So as I already said it?s depending on the device.

You can set it to default (mode 1) and if it?s not working change to mode 2.

If you update the BIOS make sure that you are logged in as administrator and unzip all files from the zip archive before you start the update.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-1LG - cannot enter BIOS settings

To be honest I?ve never heard about such problem. It is pretty strange due to fact that you can enter BIOS from time to time.
I don?t think there is anything you can do about that, except to set BIOS to default settings. In my opinion BIOS update is not the solution. BIOS is the first and lowest hardware check level and notebook users don?t have much possibilities to do anything about that.

I?m afraid you need professional help with this.

Hi

That means your screen is completely black and you can see nothing? That?s strange but you can try this workaround:

-Connect battery and AC adaptor again

If the same problem occurs you should contact an authorized service provider. It seems to be a hardware problem? :(

Hi

>The question is - can I use US version of BIOS 2.40 for my European P100? Is it compatible?

No, as far as I know the BIOS from the US website is different and cannot be used on the European notebooks. The risks are too high that the notebook can be damage.

I think the BIOS downgrade can be done only by an Toshiba authorized service provider.
So if you want to downgrade the BIOS try to contact an authorized service provider in your country.

But I don?t understand the connection with the BIOS and game running?!
In my opinion the game performance has nothing to do with the BIOS.

So in my opinion your statement about the 3.30 BIOS is a little bit adventurous.

I had to downgrade my Satellite A500 BIOS from v1.50 to v1.30.
I didn't found information about how to do that, so i had to research, and finally i was successful.
I hope it will be useful to somebody...

Steps( *at your own risk* ):

1) Execute Toshiba BIOS v1.30 update.

2) When you get older version error message, don't close window.

3) Copy WINPHLASH temporary folder(in my case, +c:\Windows\Temp\WINPHLASH+). Paste it in a different folder.

4) Close WinPhlash window.

5) Open your new +WINPHLASH+ folder. Edit +PHLASH.INI+ file. Set +Advanced=1+ and save.

Hello and sorry for my poor english (I'm french nobody's perfect ^^)

I want to downgrade BIOS because since I install 2.6 on Vista 64 I have lots of freeze (PC freeze 30 second each about 5 minutes). After updating BIOS I haven't this problem.

So if you know where I can download 2.5 or 2.4 version of BIOS, you save my life.

Thank you very much and excuse my english again.

Answer:Satellite A200 (PSAE6) - I want to downgrade the BIOS

Hello

> After updating BIOS I haven't this problem.
And why you want to downgrade the BIOS?
Sorry but this is a little bit confusing.

Anyway, a BIOS upgrade can?t be done. As far as I know this can only be done from an authorized service provider.
Contact the nearest, explain the situation and the technicians will help you.

Hello, We purchased 3x G480's a few years ago, for our staff in the Philippines.I have got one of these laptops now myself to use for travel. It was running Windows 7 Home x32.I did the free upgrade to Windows 10, and then did a clean install to Windows 10 x64.It is working great, no issues using the standard drivers that Windows 10 came with. It was like a new computer! I noticed that the BIOS was version 40, and I saw that there was a version 96 and version 97 on the support.lenovo.com site for my laptop. Both had x32 and x64 options, but did state Windows 8. On other laptops, the windows does not really matter for bios upgrades, as they are not specifically linked, so I didnt think it was an issue. I used the version 97 first, but it failed saying "ERROR 255 - TDK library initialization failed!".So I tried the version 96, and that worked. It is now running the later bios. I however noticed that there is no display to push F2 to enter the bios anymore. There is no bios terminal printing on startup, and it now just shows Lenovo screen and a scrolling circle, all the way up to the Windows Welcome screen. The startup time is much slower also. And its chewing through the battery! The battery use to last 4 hours on Windows 7 Home and after the Windows 10 upgrade, but since the bios upgrade I am lucky to get 1h from it. I tried again to install version 97 to see if that would improve things, however I get the same error. So I tried to roll back to version 40, us... Hi,

my toshiba is Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02Y010, bought in Sep-2008.
I'd like to update BIOS to latest 2.10 version for windows 7 ,but in Toshiba-NZ website ,I can only find 1.9 version, I do find 2.10 in Toshiba-Europe for A300, but Europe models are all different from NZ.

My question is: Could I use this europe 2.10 BIOS in my nz toshiba A300? thanks.

Answer:Can I use European BIOS 2.1 update for Satellite A300 PSAGCA?

Hi

I would not recommend using an BIOS which is not released for your notebook model.
There are many different notebook series on the market.

You should use the BIOS which is exactly designed for the notebook model!
As you know, BIOS update is an sensible process and you can damage the ROM chip using wrong BIOS!

Today I was installing recommended BIOS update 1.70 to 1.90. During installation the mouse cursor disappeared and was no reaction to keyboard keys. But there was a message DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER. So I was waiting for a long time (an hour?), but the update progress bar was still in the same place - like my computers is hanging.

After long time of waiting with no reaction I decided to reset computer. Only way to do it was pressing Turn on button for some seconds.

But after turning on again there is nothing visible on the screen, only reaction of computer is that turn-on lamp is on and hard disk lamp is flashing every two seconds. What to do? Please help me! I have very important data on hard disk at the moment! Can I reset BIOS? I tried to yutm on computer having pressed Escape key and F2 key, but no effect. I put CD with Operating System, but no effect.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300 dont start after BIOS update

Its possible that the BIOS chip is faulty, causing the BIOS update to fail during the writing process.

If you have tried reseating the RAM and removing the power for an hour, there is not much else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repair.

Hi,

exact model is Satellite A300 PSAGCA-06M01N running Win XP.

i had a problem with the webcam, and i read in the forum that it may be solved by a BIOS update. so i went ahead and downloaded the latest BIOS from the toshiba website specifically for my laptop model. it went completely well with no errors.

however when the computer restarted after the BIOS update my touchpad doesn't work anymore.
i went to the Device Manager and could still see the Synaptics touchpad device and it says "This device is working properly". but its totally dead and will not respond including the 2 buttons. before i updated the BIOS i had never had any problems with it.

Tried FN+F9 to no avail. plugged in a USB mouse and it works with no problems. In fact, when i plugged in the mouse the synaptics software said " Disabling the touch pad due to external pointing device" so the device driver for the touchpad is working.

if i remove the mouse it will say the touch pad is restored but it is still not working. rebooted many times and still the same problem. went into the BIOS and selected "Default" still a no go.

Can someone offer any advice or ideas please?
I really need the touch pad for the way i use the laptop...

Answer:Satellite A300 - touch pad dead after BIOS 2.20 update

Hi

In many cases the touchpad (pointing device) can be enabled and disabled in BIOS.
I think you should check if such option is available in BIOS and if yes, check if it needs to be enabled.

After proper BIOS update from 2.00 to 2.10 /suggested by TEMPRO ALERT - http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20091125132031.zip/ the touchpad of my Satellite Pro A300-1GR stopped working.
It appears as hidden in the device manager. The device status - "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" Reinstalling the driver has no effect off course. I also cant access the BIOS utility during the start-up by pressing F2.
Running Vista Business Edition 32 bit.
Any ideas for resolving the problem will be highly appreciated!

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - touchpad failed after BIOS update

Press Fn+F9, does the Touchpad now work?

Why cant you press F2 to get into the BIOS?

If Windows is in Resume/Suspend mode, you need to shut Windows down completely before entering the BIOS.

Try resetting the BIOS to its default settings.

If you have Logitech or other 3rd party mouse/keyboard drivers installed, remove those and reboot.

Hi all.

Does Satellite A300-15D have BIOS option to enable or disable Intel Virtualization Technology?
It has T9300 processor capable for Virtualization Technology, so it is logical that its BIOS should have this option.
(I have A300-1AM, but its T5850 doesn't have VT support, so there is no BIOS option)

Thanks, Andy

Answer:Satellite A300-15D - does it have BIOS for Intel Virtualization Technology?

>Does Satellite A300-15D have BIOS option to enable or disable Intel Virtualization Technology?
Have you checked all BIOS options? I mean, why you ask this? Enter BIOS settings using F2 button and check all available options in Advanced tab.

For example: my Satellite A300-1LI has ?Intel Virtualization Technology? option.

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.

It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(

Thanks for any replies.

Answer:After v1.90 BIOS update Satellite Pro A300-1EA wont boot up

Hi

Which notebook model do you have exactly?
Have you tried to install OS again using Toshiba recovery image?
It will be interesting to know if your notebook will works well with ?factory settings? again.

Try to start recovery installation to see if the right menu will be shown on the screen.

I am curious about this. The machine is an Satellite Pro A300-28V with Vista32/Win7.
Had problems with bluescreen dumps referring to "iaStor.sys". I was just about to send the laptop in for repair when I made this last effort to solve the problem. Upgraded BIOS from 1.9 to 2.1-Win.

Suddenly my system image succeeded!! Even to an Iomega home network HDD. No hang-ups!
No bluescreen dumps even at "cold" start-up (after a night off)!

At the moment I let the computer home in sleeping mode while I am at work. Let's see if it managed a day without dumps.

What is the technical difference between BIOS 1.9 and 2.1? Any idea if it has anything with iaStor.sys to do?

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-28V - My bluescreens disappeared when BIOS was upgraded

Hi mate

This is really good news that your BSOD displeasured after BIOS update.
The BIOS give instructions to power-on self test (POST) and provide basic information about how to handle some notebook components, like HDD, ODD, memory which are needed to load the operating system.

Who knows, what has been changed in the update? but the main thing is that everything work and the update solve your BSOD

>Any idea if it has anything with iaStor.sys to do?
iaStor.sys is a part of the SATA driver which is need for recognizing the HDD using the AHCI mode.

I have an A300 PSAGDA-01Y00R.

I attempted to flash the bios to version 1.90. It started the process and when I came back an hour later the notebook was off.

When switching it on there is nothing now. I've tried removing the battery and running on power only.
The keyboard works (as in lights) and the power light works, but there is absolutley no action on the screen.

Is there anything I can try?

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA won't start at all after flashing Bios 1.90

Hi

Try this;
Remove the battery, disconnect the AC adaptor and wait 1 hour.
Then connect both devices and try to power up the unit.

If this will not help then you will have to get in contact with an local ASP.
It seems something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure and therefore the notebook cannot boot up properly.

I don?t see other solution for your issue?

Hello,

Could you please tell me the original *File Name* of BIOS *V3.90* for Satellite A300, Short Model No: PSAJ4E for Vista *x64*.

Many thanks to all of you,

Best regards,
Os

Answer:Satellite A300 PSAJ4E - BIOS V3.90 - need full file name

Hi

Why you need the full name of the BIOS file 3.9?
It?s not on the download page anymore because a newer BIOS version has been uploaded?
Even you would know the full file name you would be not able to download it?

Only the newest BIOS versions are ready for download!

Hi

I have an A30, and I tried a bios upgrade to 4.2 which is the latest version for my model. Bios upgrade went well, it prompted me to restart the laptop after the process was finished, but after that I was not able to boot. I makes it to the screen where I can enter BIOS setup (which I can actually do, and I am able to change settings and save them) but after that the screen turns black and it hangs.

At first I thought that I have done something wrong and upgrade did not work well, so I started looking for crisis bios recovery methods, I found this article:
http://crd.y1.cc/
Following the steps described I managed to get my USB floppy drive working and, hopefully, reflashing BIOS, but it did not help it still would hang at the same stage.

My laptop has an expired warranty, so I can not get it fixed for free, and service will probably cost me half its price. Is there anything else I can do to get it fixed?

I was thinking to flash an older bios version - maybe the latest 4.2 is not actually compatible with my model, but I could not find any... is it possible to get an older bios version and give it a try with a floppy drive?

Thanks
Anton

Answer:Satellite A300 (PSAJ0E) - After BIOS update I can't start it

Hi Anton,
please read one of my posts about crisis recovery. You need phlash.ini and latest version on phlash.exe to get it worked.

Hello everybody,

I have two laptops, Satellite Pro A300 and Satellite A300. Both have the same configuration, C2D E8300,2GB,ATI 3650 512MB and so on.....

Today I flashed BIOS to the latest version (from V3.90 to V4.20) on both of them. On the version 3.90 cooling was OK, fan worked only when it was necessary. But now after flashing the BIOS fan works permanently, it does not stop.

What I did make, in Vista's Power Options under Toshiba Power Saver I changed the Cooling Method from Maximum Performance to Battery Optimized, the cooling reversed to the normal operation, but the cover (keyboard area) became hot a little bit.

My question is, what is the problem with cooling in the new version (v4.20)? And how to solve this problem?
Again, problem didn't exist before BIOS flashing and the problem is on both computers.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Osman

Answer:Cooling behavior after BIOS Flash - Satellite Pro A300

> What I did make, in Vista's Power Options under Toshiba Power Saver I changed the Cooling Method from Maximum Performance to Battery Optimized, the cooling reversed to the normal operation, but the cover (keyboard area) became hot a little bit.

I doubt there could be something wrong? I mean you said that after modification of cooling method in Toshiba Power Saver, the ventilators don?t run all the time?
Usually the cooling modules are controlled by Power Saver and the BIOS contains only the fan table.

My notebook's keyboard or the left notebook's side becomes warm too because at this side you will find the cooling modules which blow out the warm air?

So nothing unusual...

Hello all,
I just applied the BIOS update on my Satellite A300. After the update successful, the system does a reboot. Now when I try to power it up I get no display, I can hear the hear running, the CD Drive reading the DVD, led blinking.

The Toshiba ASP tolled me (phone call) the mainboard should be replaced after a unsuccessful bios update, but it's very expensive for me, :(
Please can you tell me if they are any way to fix it without mainboard replacement? The bios is a Insyde and according to the website the bios has bios [Recovery Technology|http://www.insydesw.com/press/2008/press_060308.htm]. I guess that the ASP doesn't know that.

Please can you tell me how to start the recovery procedure if it's possible (key combination?),
Any help about fixing the laptop without mainboard replacement will be much appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A300 - After BIOS update black screen

Hi!

I think the ASP is right and in worst case the mainboard must be exchanged.

You could try to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor. Wait one hour and then connect the AC/DC adaptor and battery and try it again.

If it doesn?t work you should go to an ASP. Maybe a BIOS reset can solve the problem but this can only be done from an ASP.

Bye

Dear members...

Have a nice day...

I have a problem with Toshiba Satellite A300-243, I installed the Bios after downloading from Toshiba website, and when it finished, it restarted the device and didn't work, just powered on.

So, if any body can help me to solve this issue, I will be glad.

Thanks...

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-243 - After BIOS update it didn't work

Hi

This sounds like that the BIOS update failed...

What you can do now?
Yourself you can do nothing. The only change is the authorized service provider. The technicians can try to reflash the ROM module.

Sorry buddy, but in this case you need professional help.
