Satellite A350 - Cannot disable Touchpad

Question: Satellite A350 - Cannot disable Touchpad

Hi,

I bought my new A350 laptop 3-4 weeks ago and i'm loving the SOUND QUALITY!!

Anyway, I want to disable the mouse pad but I can't. I have the user guid on my laptop, which says, Touch Pad :Pressing FN + F9 enables or disables the touch pad function. Sadly it does not! when I do press it nothing happens, I do not see a change in the Touch Pad icon, which apparently, if done right should have a big red X or something like that, but again it does not happen.

I've also looked the mouse properties of my mouse, and when I select the Advanced tab, then Advance feature settings...., under Touch Pad settings, there is no option to disable it which is higly strange. There is another settings button for that which I can press, but there is no option to disable it.

What should I do to disbale the touch pad, because at the time of writing this, hitting FN + F9 does not work?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A350 - Cannot disable Touchpad

Hi

What OS do you have and are you running the factory settings or have you installed your own Windows?

I think you should try to reinstall the touchpad driver and the Value Added Package. The Toshiba VAP controls the special function like the FN or illumination keys. You can find all on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

So remove the touchpad driver and VAP, restart the notebook and install the newest versions.

I have an A350-208 (PSAL6E) with windows 7 Pro 64bits NL. I have an Bluetooth mouse installed, Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. It works very nice. But every time I am working on my laptop I seem to touch my touchpad by accident or make to much pressure on the keyboard and then my cursor is going suddenly to another place in the senctence en am I typing complete garbage. This is something that I had resolved under XP by disabling the touchpad. But now, under windows 7 there's no possebillity tot do so.

Please can someone help me to disable the touchpad?

Typing this little piece of text takes me so much longer while my cursor goes everytime while I am typing to another location in the words.

Answer:Unable to disable touchpad on Satellite A350-208 (PSAL6E)

Win7 works perfectly on this notebook model and if you have installed all stuff including flash cards utility you should be able to disable touchpad using FN+F9 key combination.
Can you do this?

Hi! Is it possible to regulate the sensivity of the touchpad in my laptop?
I have a Satellite A350-20J (according to the label at the bottom of the laptop), a PSAL6E-04800GRU (as of Toshiba diagnostics utility). I bought this notebook in Moscow.
It is getting already annoying to work with it as this touchpad is so sensible that I am continuously unintentionaly "making clicks" here and there, sometimes with very undesirable effects.

Another question:
To the date I am writing this message I have not been yet able to find the exact model of my laptop in both the English and Russian websites of Toshiba.

1 + Following the UK site, I reach http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/home/ There is a link on the top left "Click here to find your laptop". Click. A pop-up opens, with 2 ways to locate my laptop:
1.1 - Select the family, series or model you are looking for: I chose "Satellite A350 series" then the next combo offers just A350-20S. That's not the mine!!
1.2 - Enter the part number you are looking for: I enter the number in the label of my laptop, click Search and get a "Entered part number has not been found"

2 + Ok, ok, as I bought this computer in Moscow, maybe I have to go to the Russian site. I go there, everything of course is in Russian but no option to change the language to english (my native language is not English nor Russian). No problem. Browse the site up to http://ru.computers.toshiba-euro... Read more

Answer:Satellite A350-20J and Touchpad

Hello Carlos

At first I must say that you can change touchpad sensitivity. It can be done in Synaptics settings.
Please go to control panel > mouse > Device settings tab > Settings button > in next window you will find menu on the left and last option there ?Sensitivity?.
Try to change touch sensitivity there.

The whole story about notebook model identification is interesting but at the end I didn't understand why is this so important for you.
All you need to know is that you have PSAL6E model.

Using this part number on download page you will be able to download right drivers and all other Toshiba stuff for your notebook.
It will be very nice to know why is this identification so important for you.

Hello members,

I have a Satellite A350-20q that runs a Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit OS. The problem is with the touch pad which stops working when the laptop is connected to the
AC power and while this is happening, I can feel the static on the buttons near the touch pad which are metallic.

The touchpad works fine when running on Battery and this is causing a lot of problem as I move around quite a bit and cannot take my mouse everywhere.

I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

Please Help !!
I have installed all the drivers and have the latest Synaptic driver installed on the system as of now.

Thank You.

Abhishek

Answer:Satellite A350-20q - Touchpad not working

> I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

I think this make sense since the touchpad did not work ONLY when the AC adaptor was connected.
I found this thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=141976&#141976
It?s about the similar issue and AC adaptor replacement helped!

> The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

How should a windows update make the touchpad buttons statically? This makes no sense for me? so either it?s software or hardware issue?

If it?s software (OS update) issue then the AC adaptor should not has any affect on touchpad buttons? but if it?s a hardware issue then the OS updates should not affect the touchpad functionality as well?

I think it?s a strange issue and you should get in contact with an local ASP (service partner) in your country in order to check the touchpad.

Hello!

I've got problem with my touch pad. I've got the latest drivers to it (Alps Point Device 7.2.302.101). Pressing "FN" with "F9" should turn off the touch pad but it isn't doing it. I checked - the "FN" button as the "F9" button are working. But when I press them both, touch pad won't turn off. I tried to turn it off by uninstalling drivers but it still worked.
I use mouse with my laptop and I don't need touch pad, and it prevents me to write on keyboard, or play games.

How can I turn it off?

My touchapad worked fine on both system 's and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I coudln't turn it on. I used system driver then. So I installed Synaptics but it said there's no conpatible device to work with. I tried Alps - no result too. So I checked bios - Pionting Dev. is on. I did changed this option two times thinking it may help - no. Today it's about half a year since I'm forced to use usb mouse.

Yesterday I restored the system - I had whole, independent image. It was created when touchpad still worked. After restore touchpad does not work. So I decided to install fresh system - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today I noticed that when I disconnect USB mouse, then betwen this action and system's sound (informing about this action) touchapad works - during about 0,5 s. It moves! But I didn't managed to turn it on.

I can't understand what's the point. I read few post on other forums. It seems that some other people have same problem. They have different notebooks but still from Toshiba. I think we need professional help. Can we get it?

Sorry for my english.
Best regards,
Onager

Answer:Satellite A350 - Touchpad stopped working

Hello

To be honest I haven?t found other similar threads so it doesn?t seem to be a common issue. Also the touchpad on my both Toshiba notebooks works perfect and never had a problem. Furthermore here it?s only an user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help you must get in contact with an authorized service provider.

Anyway, one point is not clear for me: You wrote about several system restores, images, etc. but what images you have used exactly?

In your case I would recommend a recovery installation from Toshiba recovery disk. The disk can restore the original factory settings (out of box) with all necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.
If not it?s a hardware malfunction?

Hi,

I have a Satellite A350D-122 laptop. I'm experiencing 2 issues I can't resolve.
- At some point, the touchpad scroll feature stops functionning. It simply deactivate itself and the only way to reactivate it is to reboot the computer.
- The picture on the webcam is dark. It's like there was no light at all in the room, the only thing that comes out are the light sources. I've tried to change the options but nothing changes on the screen.

I tried re-installing the drivers but the issues stills remain.

Regards,
Philippe

Answer:Re: Satellite A350 - Touchpad and webcam issue

Hello

1.I would try a touchpad driver update. Maybe something has muddled up the driver or something else so the virtual scroll function stop working. You can download a newer version on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

After touchpad driver installation make sure that virtual scrolling function is enabled in touchpad driver options of control panel.

2.I think that?s the perfect article for you:

I have a dell touchpad icon on my desktop of Satellite A350 notebook.

I think from memoryit used to say alps pointing device, when i rested the curser on the icon in the notification area. Im assuming it changed when i updated drivers a few weeks ago with uniblue.

Id like to know if this is right, should it be there?.

The touchpad still works, but i mainly use a wireless mouse. Just to clear things up i have a toshiba a350 notebook.

thanks for any help

Answer:Satellite A350 - touchpad icon on the desktop - is it ok?

Generally speaking if there is no problem with notebook functionality it is OK but I don?t understand why you make updates with uniblue if all necessary drivers are available on Toshiba download page.

In my opinion you should remove all non-Toshiba stuff from the notebook and be sure you use latest drives from Toshiba download page.

Hi ,

I've bought a Toshiba Satellite A350-12D, and I think it is a fantastic Laptop!

2 days ago, after about 3 months of use, he was starting to get slow, so a friend of me start 'Cleaning' my laptop. ( Run some anti-spyware progs, CCcleaner , defrag , .. ) and he also unchecked some start op programs in the MSCONFIG.

After this cleaning we installed AION, and it runs great, computer is fast again, everything alright. Till Yesterday evening, when i was willing to put the Media-buttons and the little light bar above the touchpad, and the Toshiba brand out, so my battery would last longer, it stopped working.

Every time i press the Light-off icon, only that icon goes out, and then start lightning up again. This seems like a stupid problem, but it drasticly decrease your battery-life. Now , I checked everything back on in the MSCONFIG , and already ran a system-repair , but nothing seems to help ..

Can someone help me with this dumb problem please :)

Grtz , Niels

Answer:Satellite A350-12D - Cannot disable the Mediabuttons light

Hallo Niels

Open please ?Toshiba Assist? > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware settings.
If I am remembering well there must be tab about illumination and option Enable/Disable.
Check please if this will works.

What you can also try is to remove preinstalled Value Added Package and after notebook restart install latest version you can find on Toshiba support page.
I am pretty sure you will be able to control illumination option again.

Right next to the power button there are 6 touch buttons.
Normally they light when I press them if the computer lights are off and if all the lights are on the button I pressed blinks.

Now the other lights (like the one that says TOSHIBA) still work but I can no longer use those buttons.
I have already installed Value Added Package and it has changed nothing.

Can someone tell me what to do and how to make them work again?

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A350-22E EasyMedia touchpad doesn't work

Hi

As you already mentioned, the VAP (value added package) controls these buttons.
So I think the new installation of VAP should help to get these buttons working again.
Not sure why this didn?t help in your case but I think you should try to reinstall this package once again.

Before installing the VAP, you should uninstall the old version.
Do that and clean the registry using other tool like CCleaner.
After that reboot the notebook and install the latest version of VAP.
I assume you are using the Win 7. So check and download the VAP released for newer Satellite A series.

Good luck

The touchpad features are missing how do I get them back?
It would seem to me it is being seen as a PS 2 mouse and not as a touchpad.

Anyone have any idea how to get the advanced features back?

As an example I can no longer use the side of the touch pad to scroll.

Try to restart flash cards.
Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash Cards

After doing this press FN button several times to see if Flash Cards are shown on the top of the screen again.
If you will see Flash Cards again use FN+F9 key combination to enable touch pad again.

2. When using computer in class room to play back video with sound for a movie clip... I would get a high background noise.
Was told that my built in microphone was picking up sound ...so I needed to disable the microphone. I did that and got rid of the back ground sound...

3. It seems that by disabling the microphone, that when I try to unmute the microphone in the control panel under sound speakers and levels.... I do not get the microphone back.... and thus can not use the internal mic for skype.

Do I need to reinstall something everytime I disable the the microphone ? Because not it does not recognize that I have a microphone in the control panel real tek icon area.

A second problem... is that even when I am not trying to play back the sound from anywhere or even when skype is not activated... I keep getting something like static sputtering charge every minute or so...

The questions are..

1. How to easily enable and diable the microphone...both internal and the microphone jack in the front ?

2. How to stop that periodic sputterng static sound ?

Thanks

Ayman

Answer:How to easily enable/disable Microphone on Satellite A350-13A?

Click with right mouse button on speaker symbol in task list and choose ?Recording devices?.
In the list there must be Microphone and click with right mouse button on it and choose option ?Disable?.
I hope the mic will be disabled. The same you can do with ?FrontMic? if you can find it listed there.
I use Skype daily and play movie clips but have never noticed any kind of problems with sound or background noises.

Second problem is not understandable for me and I cannot tell you anything about that.
Maybe if I could have your notebook in front of me to hear what happen exactly.

I have installed Windows 7 64 on my Toshiba A350-13C laptop.
During installation I used USB mouse. After installation I noticed that touchpad doesn't work. I downloaded Synaptics driver for W7 from toshiba download site but it didn't help. Then I downloaded original Synaptics driver from their site but it didn't help too. In Device Manager there is Touchpad Pointing Dev. and it looks like I would work fine. The same tells me the synaptics tray agent. However, when I click on it's icon - > Accesories -> Pressure graph (or similar name - I translated it from my lang), it returns an error message: Sorry, this program requires Synaptics TouchPad device and Synaptics pointing driver. What's going on?

I also downloaded Toshiba Value Added Package for W7 and installed. HoweverPower Saver doesn't work (I reinstalled TVAP but it fixed nothing). In start menu there's no shortcut to PS, like there are shortcuts to other apps from Value Added Package. PS service seems to be running but main program doesn't run when I double click on it in Program files\Tosh.... folder.
What is more, I have 3 unknown devices in Dev. Manager. I have no idea what it is because all dev. (except touchpad) work fine. I also installed Intel chipset drv., Realtek HD Audio, Intel Storage, Ati graphic drv. but it didn't help.
I guess these 3 unknown devices may be really one device in fact, because all are: primary system device on PCI bus 32.

Please help.

Answer:Touchpad and Power Saver doesn't work - Satellite A350

>I downloaded Synaptics driver for W7 from toshiba download site but it didn't help
Can you please tell me where you found Synaptics driver on Toshiba download page for Satellite A350-13C
I can?t see this driver on the list.

I don't know which notebook you used before but since Vista Power Saver is a little bit different and you cannot find it in start menu but in advanced power options.
About unknown devices I cannot tell you much because I don't know which drivers you have installed and which are missing. Simply install all of them.

A few days ago i installed the BIOS 2.40 update an i also disassembled the laptop because of severe heating problems.

After putting everything together, on the windows login screen i noticed the keyboard did not work anymore.

Only the CapsLock button would light up, And after starting the notebook pressing all the function keys would get me into F8 boot menu.

Now whenever the computer starts up i cannot use the F2 and F12 BIOS menu en BOOT options.

And after that when windows starts, the keyboard stops working.

When enabling/disableing sleep mode the keyboard works again.

When connecting an external keyboard to get into BIOS, pressing the F2 buttong gives me a blank screen, and nothing happens, i have to reboot.

I took care of the dust problem before once, and that gave me no problems at all, so now i think its the bios update that is giving me the problems, since i cant even boot into the BIOS menu.

I want to try to downgrade to 2.30, i have the file, but i cannot flash the bios to an older version.

I hope there is someone who can help me out? Maybe i need to look into another direction with this problem.

Answer:Satellite A350 - Keyboard only works after enable/disable sleep mode

Ok another update.

I've downgraded my BIOS to version 2.30, and then tried 2.10.
But still the same situation.

When starting up the computer, and pressing F2, it says entering setup>blank screen>windows loading.

What could be the cause of me not being able to enter the BIOS menu?

I would say its no software or rom issue, since ive reinstalled and flashed both, with the same results and problems.

So could this be a hardware problem?

Just bought a new L640 and yet again find the in-built touch pad an absolute damn nuisance

I have gone into msconfig and unticked the "synaptics pointing device driver" without any change occuring. I have done a search of the forum on "disable touch pad" and not got any satisfactory answers . . .

so does anyone know how to do it??
Thanks in advance

Is there a way I can turn off the zoom function on my touchpad.
It's very annoying when it continuously changes zoom.

Answer:Satellite C50-B - How to disable touchpad zoom function?

Go to control panel -> mouse
Here you should check the last tab.

The name of this last tab depends on the touchpad driver which is installed on your notebook.
There are two possibilities: either its ELAN or Synaptics driver

In case your notebook supports ELAN touchpad, go to ELAN tab.
Now you will see new ELAN Smart Pad window providing 3 tabs: One finger, Multi finger, Additional
Choose ?Multi-finger tab? and disable the option called Zooming.

It a additional option from Synaptics. The touchpad settings should provide the option to disable the pinch zoom.

Hello all

Answer:How to disable touchpad click on my Satellite C50D-B-11N?

To be honest such issue is not known to me and I heard it for the first time now. Usually if something should be ?opened? you must use tapping option.
With other words, so long you have permanent contact with touchpad surface nothing should be open and click option cannot be active.

Anyway, check please if you can find tapping option in mouse properties and disable it just to see if problem persists.

I recently upgraded my A305-S6829 laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I use a portable mouse and would like to disable the touchpad.

Unfortunately, the touchpad doesn't show up on my device manager and FN+F9 doesn't work either.

Please help me. Thank you.

Answer:Satellite A305-S6829 I would like to disable touchpad

Hi

First of all; this is a Toshiba US series notebook model.
Usually you have to use the drivers from this page:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

But it seems that Win 7 drivers are not released on this page for Satellite A305-S6829
Therefore I think you could choose the touchpad drivers from Toshiba European driver page. There you can choose the A305 series or the A300.
I think you could choose also other Win 7 touchpad drivers released for newer notebook series.
Please install the touchpad drivers and check if the FN+F9 would work.

Note! If no FN buttons work, then you will need to install VAP (value added package) and Flash Card Support Utility

I assume you have installed an USB mouse and the sound appears due to the usage of this mouse.

I have no clue what mouse software this is but I think you should check the settings inside this tool.
Otherwise you have to check the control panel -> mouse
There are some options which are available to mouse and touchpad.

Cheers

I have had my Satellite L450D-11X laptop, pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit, since November and have just learned about the function key to disable the touchpad - a very desirable feature. Unfortunately pressing the key combination Fn + F9 does not work. There is an answered question - now closed - in this forum which advises restoring the laptop to its original setup to cure this problem, which I presume means running an HDD recovery procedure and restoring the application software - not a trivial task. I took a chance and downloaded and installed the Synaptics Windows 7 x64 TouchPad driver. It has a facility to disable the touchpad from the mouse properties dialog, which works.

I became aware of the possibility of disabling touchpads when installing a friend's new Acer laptop, which has a button next to the touchpad for switching it off and on. Come the day when every laptop has such a switch an awful lot of laptop users will be happy, judging by the number of people I came across on the web looking for a way to disable their touchpads, especially when typing.

I would prefer if the L450D's key combination worked, however. Does anyone know how to do this without doing an HDD recovery? Some of my other function keys are also 'broken'. Not vital, but I do hate things that do not work as specified.

Answer:Unable to disable touchpad on Satellite L450D-11X

What you should do is to reinstall Value Added Package. You can find it on Toshiba download page. This package contains several tools and one of them is flash cards utility (FN buttons control). Remove preinstalled VAP from the system, restart your notebook and install latest version from Toshiba support page.

By the say, this small button is also available on some Toshiba models. If I am remembering well it must be available on A500 and U500. Maybe also on some other new notebook models.

Hello,
I recently reinstalled my touchpad driver because they had stoped working for some reason.
And Ow ow surprise.
Now the "fn+F5" hotkey doesn't work anymore, but I can enable/disable my touchpad by double taping the top left corner. OK why not.
What's annoying me is the really bright white led indicating when the touchpad is disabled. It really attracts the eyes.

Is there a way to disable it please ? (even if it means disabling the "double tap corner" shortcut, and find a way to reinstall the "fn+F5" shortcut)

Answer:Re: Satellite L50-A-1DE - Synaptics touchpad - How to disable the LED statu

I answer to myself. It is possible.
Just deactivate the automatic launch of "SynTPEnch.exe"
EDIT: it seems to randomly launch itself anyway .... I think I'm gonna uninstall it and stay with the generic windows touchpad driver

How do you turn off the scrolling function on the right hand side of the mouse?
It drives me crazy. Just want the cursor but cannot see anything in the Control Panel.

Answer:How to disable scrolling function on touchpad on Satellite A series?

This option you can find in advanced mouse options.
Control panel > Mouse properties > Device settings and if you have Synaptics driver just click on settings. There you will find option for virtual scrolling.

Just remove check mark in front of horizontal and vertical scrolling options and it will be OFF.

I have a Satellite A205 running Vista. The FN+F9 has never worked to disable the touchpad.

I have read that there is an option to disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged into a USB port. I do not appear to have this option.
I must go into Control Panel to enable/disable it entirely which is kind of a pain.

I am using a MS Bluetooth Laser mouse so there is no mouse plugged into a USB port, only the Bluetooth dongle.

Does anyone know of an easier way to do this?

Answer:Satellite A205 Vista - FN+F9 has never worked to disable the touchpad

Maybe you should check the Toshiba US driver page and should download and install the Toshiba ON/OFF touchpad utility.

Hello,
I've recently got a new laptop, a L650-1CN,
I run the various kinds of software from Toshiba, and one of them is Tempro,
It shows me messages when a new update is available.

Today I got saw the message that a new BIOS update v.1.80 was available.
I downloaded it, and installed it. After installing my laptop shut down. Then I booted it again.
But after a few minutes I noticed that my touchpad didn't disable itself anymore.
I usually use a logitech wireless mouse.

Now I'm wondering if I should do a system recovery and not install this BIOS update, or find another solution to fix this. Because it's really annoying.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite L650 - Touchpad won't disable after BIOS Update

Hi buddy,

Usually the touchpad disable it automatically if an external mouse is connected but only if you enable this option in touchpad settings.

I also use an external mouse from Logitech and have activated this option. You can find it in control panel > mouse. Go to tab ?Device Settings? and mark the option ?Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached.?

I hope it works :)

Just bought my Satellite P50-C-18k laptop yesterday - I do not like having tap to click as it seems to be over sensitive and accidentally selects various links as I move the cursor around.
So a simple task - how to disable tap to click on the touchpad - or seriously reduce the sensitivity.

I have of course gone to control panel and unchecked all of the various multiple finger options etc for the touchpad/Elan. I have also had a look at the mouse options but nothing obvious there. I downloaded the touchpad driver from the Toshiba website but that made no difference.

I noticed an earlier thread where people were messing around with the registry but on a different model so i dont really want to try that on my new laptop but if someone can confirm if thats suitable for use with Windows 10 (anniversary updated) 64 bit on the P50_C_18K I will give it a go.

The website is pretty frustrating - with Yoko offering tips that are not really helpful and no obvious way to make a quick phone call for support.

Hello,

how can I disable tapping on a A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad.
Tapping means to me that when I touch the touchpad the notebook translate it under circumstances as a mouse click which I don't want.

In the German settings I have found nothing like "tapping".

Juergen

Answer:How can I disable tapping on Satellite A210-103 with a Synaptics touchpad

Hello Hans Juergen

Of course you can disable the ?tapping?.

I assume you want to disable this ?tapping? and instead of tapping you want to use the both touchpad buttons. Am I right?

This can be disabled in;
Control Panel -> Mouse -> last tab called ?Device Settings? (or similar).
There you have to choose ?Settings? of Synaptics TouchPad

The new window should open and there you could find many different details and settings.
You have to mark the second option ?tapping?. It?s under the point ?overview?.
There you have uncheck the option ?enable tapping?

That?s all ;)

My Satellite C660 zooms webpages etc in & out from the mouse touchpad.
I have been trying to get used to it but its been a year & i have had to buy a wireless mouse as i can get on with it.

Can i switch off this fucntion so the mouse touchpad doesn't zoom in & out any more & just does the normal move mouse pointer & tap to click functions?

Answer:Satellite C660: How to disable touchpad's zoom in/out function

Hi

I think you are talking about the pinch zoom.
Yes, this can be disabled.
Go to control panel -> mouse -> device settings (I think its last tab it could be called Advanced too)
Here click the button Advanced settings
Here you should see all available options. I guess the option should be available there.

I just got this new laptop and I really NEED to disable the touchpad. It drives me crazy jumping all over the place when I'm typing.

I've tried FN-F9 and it doesn't work. I looked in the Control Panel and I can Uninstall the drivers but can't Disable it. I like to use a roller ball mouse except when I am traveling, so I don't want to uninstall the drivers. Isn't there a simple way to turn it off?

Also, it seems to be EXCEEDINGLY slow accessing the internet with a wireless connection. Nothing is different with my internet connection or service provider except this laptop is probably ten times slower than my old laptop.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I can't go back to the Acer because the motherboard died or I would.

Hi there,

When cleaning my A350-04S today, I removed my keyboard to find the motherboard labeled "3G / UWB / GPS". This was a surprise to me, as the laptop was not advertised with 3G / UWB or GPS. It also has a SIM slot behind the battery, but I can't seem to identify the F3507g mobile broadband module. Does anyone know if my model had the F3507g installed? I've also gone ahead and installed all the necessary software (found [here|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=3gdownloads]) but the module cannot be identified.

Could it be that the BIOS settings are disabling the hardware (if it is there)? If it isn't there, why has Toshiba included the SIM slot and printed on the motherboard "3G / UWB / GPS"?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:SIM Slot on Satellite A350-04S

According notebook specification your notebook model doesn?t have 3G module inside. All notebooks with 3G have preinstalled software for 3G that is included in original recovery image that Toshiba install on notebooks and offer to the customers.

I presume you such software was not preinstalled with, I presume original Vista OS. It is Canadian model and I don?t know if Toshiba Canada has offered A350 with 3G.

Hello

I'm French.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350-11C and would like to downgrade my pc to Windows XP but I don't found any driver for WinXP.
Where to download it? Or the Vista driver is compatible with Winxp?

Thanks bye

Answer:Need WXP drivers for my Satellite A350-11c

Hello

I have checked Toshiba support page and unfortunately there are no drivers for WXP. Obviously this newest notebook model is not WXP supported, or not yet.
So either you try to search drivers by hardware manufacturers, similar Satellite models or continue to use Vista.

To be honest I don't believe there is some difference between satellite A300 and A350 except dimension. I don't know which A300 is similar to your A350 (hardware configuration).
Try to compare notebook specifications on Toshiba support page.

At the end I must say that downgrade is OK but maybe you should also look forward and use Vista as latest operating system. Make good experience with it and prepare yourself for new Windows 7. It is similar to Vista but with some differences in design.

Do you try to copy any copyright protected disks?
Possibly this is not possibly due to some restrictions?
Otherwise you should check if an firmware update for the drive exists?
If one is available then you should find it on the Toshiba European driver page.

Last but not least if can be an hardware issue? but the ASP should be contacted as last resort?. I mean in most cases the used DVDs or CDs are responsible for such issues?
I had such issue too and could solve it using another brand? I?m now with TDK ?R disks

Hey everyone.

I own a Toshiba Satellite A350.

Last night, my down arrow key clicked out of place, and now I'm pretty sure one of the key retainers is broken, as a very small part of one of the retainers is broken, and the key will not click back into place.

I went to at least 4 different computer stores today and had no luck in finding somewhere who sells these retainers, one place , however suggested I go to the manufacturer, so do I call the Toshiba help line or something??

With this model, is it possible for me to fix this retainer/key issue, or will I have to take it to a professional??

Answer:Satellite A350 - I need a new key retainer

I think you will not find a key retainer because such parts are not available. If one key is broken or something else on the keyboard you must replace the complete keyboard.

What you can do now?
Well, in your case I would contact the nearest ASP that you can find on the Toshiba website. Explain the situation and the ASP can order a new keyboard and exchange it if you want.

hi erdemrek,
i cant see what is exactly the problem your talking about but:
if you have the same cpu, the same amount of ram, same model make, same installation then everything should be the same.
what do you mean with "highest frequency" unfortunatly i dont speak your language therefor i cant read the text on your image.
if you test the speed of the machine be assured to use the same utility (benchmark).
load on a system differs depending on the services and applications launched and running.
could you give some more information on this problem?

at first you can try to swap the hdd and see if there is any change. if it's a software related problem it should appear on the other machine as well when changing the hdd.

Hallo

I have an A350-13I Notebook. The notebook has a slot to install a second hard disk but there is no connector for it. Does anybody know what modifications are necessary to install a second hard disk?

Answer:Satellite A350 - How to install a second HDD?

Hi

The answer is pretty easy: You can do nothing!

The reason why you have a second slot but without connector is that some models are equipped with second HDD and some other models not I think.

So fact is that you can?t add second HDD to your notebook.
If you need more disk space you can use a bigger HDD or an external HDD for data.

My father-in-law's laptop is the Satellite 350 and i think it has 12j after its name.

We re-installed Vista 32 bit the other day and he said a few things are not working as they should.

Firstly, if he presses the FN key and, let?s say, the brightness it works but he used to have a little dock type thing pop up at the top of the screen with the FN button icons. The other FN keys don?t work though such as the monitor swapping switch.

Second the soft-touch media keys don?t work such as turning off the LEDs behind them or bringing up media player.

We have done the obvious and tried installing the value package but it said on installation that it was removing the package so it must have already been installed. After re-installing it, there is no difference. I can?t find any programs or anything in control panel for it.
Also I tried the same thing for Hardware setup. Again it seemed to be saying it was there and uninstalling it. Again I re-installed it but still can?t find anything for it anywhere for me to go into to change any settings or anything.

I haven't got the laptop with me right now as it is at his house but I think I got everything right.

Any ideas welcome.

Hello,

I'm a french owner of a A350-122 (Serial No: 39169719K)

In the french user's manual, on page 1-5, it's written that it's possible to insert an other hard drive, and on page 2-6 the rear view of the A350-122 shows a second location on the left for a second hard drive.

So, I have bought an Intel X25-M SSD to put in the second location. I have opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata connector, no power connector, only an empty location.

So, what's wrong with this Satellite A350-122?

Thank's for your answer.

Hi,

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A350-12J: What BIOS can I use

Hi

Why you don?t know what BIOS is compatible?
Where is the problem?

The Satellite A350-12J seems to belong to the PSALWE series. The number should be placed at the bottom of the unit.

If you would select this model number on the Toshiba European driver page then you would get all the necessary Vista drivers and the BIOS for this unit.
The page provides BIOS for vista 32bit and 64bit. If the Vista is 32bit OS then take the BIOS for 32bit?

But to be honest I still don?t know what a problem is? your posting is very short any not really helpful?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 (about a year and a half old) that will not start up correctly. This happened after the laptop was left on until the battery ran out. The keyboard and power button LEDs will light up, but the screen remains black when I try to turn it on. I use Windows Vista.

The machine generally continues to make a whirring noise for a few seconds before it ceases to make any noise (the fan and the HD). The screen sometimes flickers a lighter black on a screen for less than a second. Also, the cooling fan sometimes continues to operate after everything else has stopped.

Another issue is that when if it does turn on and proceed to the Toshiba screen, odd lines will fade into the screen and eventually the screen will end up white/blue. On the other hand, sometimes it will turn on and act as if nothing happened. At these times, putting it to sleep mode will cause it to not be a ble to turn on again.

I've tried removing the battery, using only the battery, fully charging the battery and using the laptop with barely any charge in the battery and it does not change anything.

I would really appreciate any sort of lead as to what may be wrong with the poor thing.

Answer:Satellite A350 will not boot

Hello

Generally speaking it?s always hard to say something about such ?sometimes errors? because it?s not clear and could be caused by every part but at the moment I doubt this problem is software related?

Can you see something on an external screen when internal screen remains black?

In worst case it?s a hardware malfunction and this would mean you need help from an ASP to check what part is affected but if your notebook is under warranty, the repair would be for free.

Hi guys,

I installed Windows 7 on my A350/07H and I have a few problems.

1. I cannot find any vista/w7 drivers for the frontpanel multimedia touch buttons
2. When I type shift+2 I get a " symbol instead of a @ symbol. Vice versa, when I press shift+' I get the @ symbol instead of the " symbol.
3. When installing vista drivers for the touchpad, by either Synaptics or ALPS (I think that's the name), the touchpad is quite laggy. That is, it's not smooth and seems to be less responsive than without the drivers. I uninstalled the touchpad drivers and the touchpad returns to being very responsive.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Hello

As you know Win7 is not launched officially and at the moment you can try to use beta drivers from Toshiba US support page.
For every OS Toshiba must design and test new drivers. For Win7 such drivers still don't exist, just beta drivers. If everything works well is OK and you will be lucky if not .... you know what I mean. :(

Answer:Memory upgrade on Satellite A350-10I

Such kind of upgrade cannot be done. RAM upgrade must be done with 100% compatible modules. Faster RAM will not help at all. It depends on motherboard FSB sped. If you use ?faster? memory modules they will be ?clocked down?.

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem and hope that anyone can help me.

After two years I had to re-install my satellite laptop with windows vista. Now is the problem that the productkey isn't readable anymore. So I used a little program(productkey86.exe) to get it out of the registry. So far so good. So I installed vista with that productkey but now my computer tells me that I have to activate. When I try to activate microsoft says: the product can't be activated..

Does anybody know what i have to do?

Hope to hear soon of you..

thx

The problem is that the key on bottom side is an OEM license key and doesn?t work with normal Vista installation disks. So that?s the problem why you can?t activate your Vista installation.

You wrote that you have a Vista installation disk. Why you don?t use the key that belongs to this disk? This would work ;)

Had anyone experienced that kind of issue? The notebook is new (bought it today). The "dirt" covers about 5 pixels (it's not regular) and looks like a grey shadow. Unfortunately it's placed in a very nasty spot getting all of my attention :/.

I'm positive those are not dead/stuck pixels because I can see it even when the notebook is turned off. To be 100% sure I've made a photo of the "anomaly" and when I zoom in I can see that pixels are working correctly but there is a grey "smudge" above them. I would upload the pictures but I've left my cable somewhere elese .

Can anyone tell me if it will be covered by the warranty or would I run into problems if I ask for a notebook/LCD panel replacement?

Thanks in advance for any replys!

Hi

Can some guide me in degardin Satellite A 350 from Vista to XP?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

Hi!

And what do you want to know?

If you want to install Windows XP on the notebook you must only boot from the installation disk and follow the screen instructions ? That?s all!

But don?t forget to install the SATA drivers. Otherwise I think your HDD will not be recognized.
And before you install XP you should burn the Toshiba recovery disk if you didn?t this already. So you can restore the factory settings every time that you want.

Hey, i just purchased a A350 and i have a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz Processor but i want to upgrade to about 2.4-2.6ghz. These are my questions.

1. Is it possible to do?
2. Is it worth doing?
3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.

I have general knowledge about computers but im not a an expert. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite A350 - Can I upgrade the CPU to 2.4 or 2.6Ghz

> 1. Is it possible to do?
Nothing is impossible but the question is if it?s advisable?. In my opinion it?s not advisable. First of all the CPU upgrade will cancel your warranty. Secondly nobody would be able to say if the notebook would run stable after such upgrade and if the BIOS would support if correctly. There is a high risk of overheating because the stringer CPU creates more heat dissipation which would lead to a higher temperature?
Last but not least you will not notice a big performance boost.

>2. Is it worth doing?
In my opinion it?s not worth. Check the point 1.

> 3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
I?ve got a Satellite notebook equipped with CORE2 DUO T8100 (2.1GHZ) CPU and I?ve got the same Intel Centrino sticker.
The Centrino sticker means that the CPU supports this technology but it does not mean that this is Centrino CPU.

For more details regarding Intel Centrino technology please check this Intel page:

My CD drive does not appear in My Computer and no longer works

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A350 CD/DVD drive doesn't appear

Hi denis,

Is it maybe listed with yellow exclamation mark in device manager? With error code 19? I ask this because in the Microsoft Knowledge Base I have founded this interesting article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Furthermore it would be interesting to know if the drive is recognized in BIOS or not because in worst case you have to replace the whole drive.

Hey!

Recently i purchased a Toshiba A350 disc. I've format both the discs and went with a clean sweap install of windows vista. Now, a few months later i want to use the Toshiba Recovery Discs i made on the first startup, to recover my Toshiba laptop and set it back to the default installation.

With the tool to create Toshiba Recovery Discs, i had to make 2 recovery discs. The first DVD contains the Windows installation, and the 2nd DVD contains SWM files.

I started the recovery by putting recovery disc 1 in my DVD player and boot it up. After boot it installed Windows Vista, and it never asked for DVD2. After the installation, I have a clean Windows Vista, but no Toshiba pre installed drivers, software etc.

How can I recover my laptop to the default settings, the way i bought it?

thnx for ur awnser,

sincerely, Frank

null

Answer:Satellite A350-12D - How to recover from recovery DVD?

Hi

Usually the Toshiba Recovery disk should contain the image.
The image is the package which contains the Vista, Toshiba drivers/tools and the additional software.

The Toshiba Recovery disk Creator can create the Recovery disk using the image on the notebook and therefore it?s not understandable for me and I cannot believe why you get only clean Vista without the Toshiba drivers and tools and 3rd party software.

You did everything right. In order to recover the notebook, you have to boot from Recovery disk and have to follow the instruction on the screen.

That?s all?.

PS: I the drivers and tools are really missing then you could download it from here:

Hi,
firstly i want you to forgive my broken english (it's not my mother tongue)

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my old (but very good) *Satallite A350-122 PSAL6E-02300SFR* and i was really satisfied till i tried to install my drivers downloaded from the Toshiba support center. No one were made for Windows 8.1 x64 but some could finally be installed but the others like the webcam and mouse drivers don't; so i looked for it on internet but it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.

So my question is: Can some one help me with it? i would be very gratefull.

Thanks

Answer:Why some WIn 8.1 drivers don't work on Satellite A350-122?

This old Vista notebook is not supported for Win8 so Toshiba doesn't offer any driver, tool or utility for it. Generally speaking webcam driver doesn't exist anymore and Toshiba doesn't offer it for Win8.
Webcam driver is part of the Win8 system.
>... it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.
Toshiba cannot offer support for all notebook models, especially models offered long time ago.
I have the same model and use it with Win7 32bit. It is fully supported and works perfectly.
I really don't understand why do you use Win8 on this old piece of hardware.

My advice for you is to use Win7 on it.

Hello,

I?d like change my OS from Windows Vista to Windows XP but I don?t find drivers for windows XP to my notebook Satellite A350-13A

can anybody help me?

Answer:Satellite A350-13A - Where to find XP drivers

Hi

The XP drivers are not available for Satellite A350 PSAL6E series.
If you want to install Win XP on this notebook then you would need to collect the drivers at your own hand.
Many notebooks models use the same devices and in most cases the drivers are compatible with different notebook series.

I recommend testing some Win XP drivers which were released for other notebook models like Satellite A300 and similar?

I have a problem with my Satellite A350

I bought this laptop from a trusted auction, not on the net, with the password attached unfortunately this password don?t work, but the auction house clams it does,
What is happening is when I turn it on the first screen you see wants a password, I put in the so called password that was given to me but it wont work. When I try to get into the BIOS setup it still wants the password before I can continue.

This computer is using Vista and I cant even put the Vista disk back in because the DVD drive wont work because the op system has not booted
I hope some one knows how to by pass the password or can help me. I have tried removing the internal battery but no go, my email is [email protected] if you want me to explain things better

Thanks to every one

Answer:Satellite A350 - How can I remove the password?

Hi Col!

These are not so good news?

I?m not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

I just purchased a brand new Satellite A350-02T laptop. I've only used it twice, and both times I've used it, the touch pad, at some point, has stopped working. Well, not "stopped", but becomes flakey, figitty, freezes, stalls... it's kind of hard to explain.

It will move a bit then freeze, then move a bit and freeze.

Also, I noticed yesterday when I was using it, the scroll option stopped working. I was viewing a .pdf document and it was allowing me to scroll one second, and then the next second, I couldn't scroll. I tried opening the web browser and scrolling but it still wouldn't let me. I rebooted the computer and it seemed fine again.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Need WXP drivers for Satellite A350-216 (PSAL6E)

New notebook models are delivered without driver CDs or installations CD/DVDs. Recovery image designed for each notebook model is saved on HDD and if you want to have it as installations DVD you must create it alone using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator".

Your notebook is designed for Vista and it is also supported for new Win7 but not for old WXP so you will not be able to find all WXP drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba support and download page.

Answer:Where do I find the XP drivers for Satellite A350-200

Hi

At this time the Toshiba European driver page does not provide XP drivers fro the A350.
Maybe such drivers will be released in the next time.. let?s hope?

Until then you could collect the XP drivers at your own hand? you could use some single XP drivers released for other Toshiba notebooks? many series uses the same devices and therefore some single drivers should run too.

I'm having a problem with my built in webcam on Toshiba Satellite A350, Win7 Professional 32BIt. The webcam isn't working anymore. Camera software won't allow me to open camera - keeps saying "Webcam is either disabled or has failed. Please check your webcam settings".

Camera is not listed in Device Manager just an Unknown Device.
I used to use camera without problems (rarely, but without problems), and only now discovered it's not functioning anymore.

Any ideas?

Answer:Re: Webcam disabled on Satellite A350

It is not easy to say what is wrong there.
Have you don?t anything that can be responsible for this issue?

What you can try at first is to roll back OS to earlier time just to see if something will change.
Other way, try to reinstall webcam software. You can download it on Toshiba support page.

I have the same problem... I've tried everything. I have reinstalled Windows 7 on my A350-10b, and what is strange, some of the FN-keys like Sound On/Off or Brightness controll works fine, but only until I install VAP. Then Fn doesn't work :/

Answer:FN key of Satellite A350-10b doesn't work

Hi

You need the Flash Card support Utility for Win 7!
Choose the one released for L500!

Firstly install VAP then the Flash Card support Utility. Both tools should be compatible with Win 7!
Reboot the unit and then test it again.

Hello guys,

so.. I started using Bluetooth a while ago, using the Internet via cable.. Today I wanted to use my WLan again, but it didn't worked (worked good before).
So I tried to activate it via FN+F8, but all I can see is activating Bluetooth, so the one for WLan disappeared?
The WiFi LED is only flashing when Bluetooth is on. I'd rather disable Bluetooth than not being able to use WLan.

I believe it's a similar problem as
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=67514&tstart=0
but I really didn't want to install a wrong driver or anything.

I'm using a Vista 32-bit and my PC-Tool said I'm using these Networks currently (I just copy and pasted since I honestly have no idea, hahaha).
Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Version=6.208.729.2008 MAC-Adresse=00:23:5A:05:61:05
Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN Version=12.2.0.11 MAC-Adresse=00:21:5D:62:D8:1C

I'd so happy if anyone could help me fix the problem anytime soon, since I really need the Wireless capability soon. Thank you :)

Answer:Satellite A350 can't use WLan anymore

Hi,
do you have try this from MASTERG?s post?

"Hi

The FN + F8 would not work if there is a WLan driver problem.
So would recommend doing this:

First of all remove AC adaptor and battery.
Press Power button 30 sec long
Then connect both parts again.
Now power up the unit and press F2 to access the BIOS
Set BIOS to default pressing F9 and save changes pressing F10
Access the BIOS boot up the Windows OS
Now download the compatible WLan driver (I guess its Intel WiFi 5100AGN)
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

After installation of Wlan driver, install the Value Added Package and Flash Card Support Utility.
Reboot the notebook and try to enable Wlan again."

I put this here instead of the wireless forum cos I thought people with knowledge of the actual system may know better.

I have a A350 and it came installed with this wireless manager that runs at start up, it always has a no entry sign on it when I look at it saying no wireless devices detected.

Whats it for? I've used mobile broadband through a USB stick and it hasn't "managed" that. It doesn't manage my connection to my router either, nothing happens when I shut it down.

Thanks :)

Answer:Satellite A350 - What is the wireless manager?

Hi buddy,

I would give you a proper answer but what wireless manager you mean exactly?
Do you mean Config Free tool?

Here is the description from Toshiba page:
+ConfigFree is a suite of utilities to allow easy control of communication devices and network connections. ConfigFree also helps you to find communication problems and create profiles for easy switching between location and communication networks.+

I have a Satellite A350-20s.
It is described in its documentation as having the option to add a second internal 2"5 hdd, and a indeed there is a place reserved for it..

The problem is that when I remove the cover to insert the hdd there is no connector.

So, how to do it ?

Answer:Adding a second internal HDD on a Satellite A350-20s

Hi

Some of the Satellite A350 units and other notebook models could be upgraded with a second HDD. But this means that NOT all notebooks provide such upgrade possibility?
There are different A350 with different hardware specifications?
All notebooks support the same bottom cover but not all motherboard supports an second HDD controller and the connectors?.

Your A350 cannot be upgraded with a second HDD due to different motherboard and missing HDD controller.

Hi,
When I plug a USB into any of my USBports my computer is unable to find the appropriate drivers to locate and use the USB. My laptop recognises the USB but continually tells me that it is searching for the driver and then after 5-10mins it says that it was unsuccessful at installing the necessary driver. Any advice on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I have a HUGE list of problems (some that can't be fixed) on my laptop that's 5 months old but let's start with the most urgent problem.

The battery isn't charging all the time. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, it's quite random... Sometimes it even says it's charging but it isn't. It just stays at 30% for example.

I have windows 7 and newest bios. Tried rebooting, placing battery after boot with cable and no battery etc. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Tried reinstalling drivers. Nothing.

Answer:Battery isn't charging on my Satellite A350-220

Too many issues, GET RID OF THIS LAPTOP NOW.
Don't waste your time trying to fix it. Send it back to Toshiba and have them replace it.
This is not acceptable from a brand name like Toshiba point of view.

Hi all

About 6 months ago I purchased a Satellite A350. Had no probs at all until around 2 weeks ago, where a really faint horizontal line would appear running across the display around half way up. Then a couple of days ago the whole bottom half of the screen went sort of grey with really thin vertical lines... the top half still appears normal.

Anyone know what this could be? Any help would be much appreciated

Answer:Satellite A350 - Lines on the screen

Hi

> Anyone know what this could be?
In my opinion the case is clear: The internal display seems to be faulty and should be replaced or have you tried an external monitor already? If the external monitor works properly you need a new internal display.

An authorized service provider can help you to exchange it and order a new one. On the Toshiba page you can search for nearest ASP.

Hi,

I just bought my Toshiba Satellite A350-12D laptop two weeks ago, and am generally pleased with it, however I cannot get it to read data-DVD's properly.

When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.
When I try to copy the data on the DVD to my laptop, it takes forever (I've tried once for 45 minutes and then gave up) and after a while it starts claiming it can't read most of the files on the DVD.
It's not the data on the disks that's causing problems, cause when I transfer those from my desktop to my laptop on a USB stick instead of a DVD, the files are copied immediately without a problem.

At first I figured it might be due to the DVD disks themselves (I use TDK DVD+ROM), or maybe Vista was the culprit, but I've tried the exact same disks on my friend's Medion laptop that's also running Vista and she's having no issues whatsoever.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or better yet, what could solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Eva

Answer:Issues with CD/DVD drive on Satellite A350-12D

> When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.

Hmm? I think this could be a problem of non-fully compatible DVDs.
My notebook?s drive couldn?t read or write some DVDs from different manufacturers.
I tested many disks and now I?m using TDK DVD-R.

But it?s always different?. Possibly your drive would not support this disk properly but another disk would be supported better?

I think you should test it simply?. There are many different disk manufacturers? so don?t give up buddy?

Hi,

Since today im experiencing problems with my power supply.

What happens:

When I connect my AC adapter to charge my battery the battery sign will go on for 2 secs and then turn off again. Windows also does not Recognise the battery charging.

At this moment I' m unable to give any more details because the battery has gone flat.

If I take out the battery and try on AC only the notebook does not switch on. So the battery has to be inserted in order to boot. so the power will go to the battery first and then to the system which is quite strange.

The battery itself shows no signs of damage / leaks.

Voltage output on DC: 19.55VDC @ 6.32A
AC/DC adaptor: According to the specs and my readings, not faulty.

Model: Satellite A350-12z

Thanks,

Answer:Power issue on Satellite A350-12Z

Hello

Do you use original Toshiba battery and AC/DC adapter or some 3rd party parts?

It is strange why notebook doesn?t start without battery. Usually you can always start a notebook with AC/DC adapter only, battery is not necessary.

So either it?s something wrong with AC/DC adapter or mainboard itself? At the moment I believe it?s mainboard malfunction.
