Satellite A200 Touchpad Issue

Question: Satellite A200 Touchpad Issue

I recently had major problems with my Satellite A200-AH6 PSAE0C notebook after I did a BIOS flash. I brought it in, got it repaired, and everything is running normally.

However, there are 2 problems which I cannot seem to figure out.

The first issue is with the volume control -- the scroll for the volume works fine, but the display bar does not show up on my screen indicating volume level. This is NOT a major issue at all, but I'd like to know if someone knows a solution to it. Maybe a missing .dll?

The 2nd issue (VERY IMPORTANT) is with the touchpad -- the scroll on the right side of it does not work anymore. I cannot find any problem with it, and I compared it to my brother's laptop (exact same kind) and it is identical. I assume there is a missing driver....please, someone help with this issue. It is critical that I can scroll up and down, because using Page Up and Page Down is just too annoying.

Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A200 Touchpad Issue

Well just go to the toshiba drivers section, put your laptop model and look for the touchpad driver and install it to see if then the scroll works. (Don't know if it's the same for all toshiba laptops but if your laptop has the alps or something like that touchpad driver then install that one instead of synaptics)

Hi.

Suddenly my touchpad has developed a mind of its own.
If I hover on something for a couple of seconds it is as though I have clicked on it.

It's really annoying as I've been deleting things I don't want to delete, selecting programs I don't want to select etc.etc.

I have looked at the Synaptics settings & can't find anything that may resolve the problem, although I am totally thick when it comes to anything like this.
If anyone can offer a solution which even I can understand I will be really, truly grateful.

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A200 - Touchpad sensitivity issue

Hello

All you can do is to check all these settings, especially change the sensitivity level in hope this behaviour will stops.
Other way I don't see other was as to visit Toshiba service.

Is external mouse usage solution for you? I mean you can completely disable touchpad with FN+F9 and use external mouse.

Last Saturday I bought my Sattelite A200 with Vista Home Premium. I found that I could set the properties for the touchpad via Control Panel -> Mouse and (on the last Tab) -> Advanced settings.

A few hours later this last tab was suddenly replaced by a Tab called "Device Settings" and all I have left are tabs with settings for a standard mouse instead for the touchpad.

My question now is: How can I get the old situation back, so that I can alter the settings for the touchpad?
Michel

Answer:Satellite A200: How to get old setting for touchpad

Did you try to set the Windows back to the early point?
It would be interesting to know if this will bring back button to the early state.

Did you try to reinstall the Touchpad driver? Check this!
Remove the old one and after new reboot install the one from the Toshiba page!

I have a Satellite A200, I use a USB wireless mouse all of the time. My touch pad used to work even when I had the USB plugged in but now it has stopped working altogether. I cannot find the lcoation to see if it has been disabled in some way. Can someone help me?

My A200 is also turning itself off at any time while I am using it. I read some early treads that said it can overheat. I have my unit plugged into mains all the time and have the battery still in as well. I also leave my laptop on most of the time as well. I have notieced that the side vent area can get extrememly hot as is the touch pad area. Would overheating cause both issues? Please need some advice soon as I am ready to toss Toshy away.

Answer:Satellite A200 - Touchpad isn't working

Hey mate,

First of all the touchpad can enabled/disabled using FN+F9 key combination. Check this!!!
I also using an external mouse all of the time but this key combination only works for the internal one so it?s worth a try! ;)

Regarding the turning off problem if could be an overheating issue of course. The notebook should be cleaned from time to time and I do this every 3 months for example because I use my notebook every day. I?m always wondering how much dust come out if I clean it with compressed air spray. I followed the instructions in this document:

Hello,
I installed windows 7 on my satellite A200-1M6 and touchpad doesn't work. I installed alps and synaptic drivers but it didn't work. In the Device Manager in "Mice and other pointing devices" I have HID-compliant mouse and PS/2 Compatible Mouse. There is no device like touchpad. I have no problems with this in Windows XP and Vista.

Hi, my touchpad stopped working a few months ago and have been using a USB mouse since instead.

I've tried to get it working by installing updates, and it says that the deivice is working in the control panel. I think it may be a setting or something that needs to be adjusted, as this has only been since I left the lid open one day and my cat sat on the kyboard, opening up a bunch of programs and settings. Although it might just be a coincidence?

Any ideas would be much apprecieted. Thanks, ash.

Hi

I recently bought a new Satellite Pro A200-1mi (psae7e). Thing is that while I was using it initially there was this assist in the beginning which enabled us to use the hotkey (fn+keys) on the screen.
It was at the top of the screen.

So I clicked on the tab to disable my touchpad but now I can't seem to enable the touchpad and accidently closed this hotkey assist also.

So tried everything to enable the touchpad again; driver reinstalled, tried installing touchpad on/off and everything...

Please help me.
If there is any questions please do ask..
I am really hoping that someone would find a answer for me.

Thanks in advance,
Sabil

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-1MI: How to enable the touchpad again

Hello Sabil

You can start Flash cards again: Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Settings for Flash Cards. Open these settings and remove check mark in front of disable option.
I hope you will be able to use Flash cards again.

Recently purchased a second hand toshbiba a200 laptop and the touchpad for the frist week or two was working fine.
It then started to get hard to use, like sluggish, now it wont even move at all.

I reformatted computer and that didnt work.
So I'm thinking the touchpad itself may be gone?

Any suggestions and if so how would I get a new touchpad?

cheers
matt

Answer:Satellite A200 - touchpad does not work properly

Hi

You mean the touchpad does not work anymore?
Did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to recover the unit?

Are you using the latest BIOS?
Please check this and if newer BIOS if available, please update this?

Well, it could be also an hardware issue?
And in such case the touchpad must be replaced?

This is tricky and usually should be done by an ASP (service partner) in your country?

PS: the touchpad can be ordered also from a local ASP.

Answer:TouchPad does not scroll using Win 7 on Satellite A200 PSAE3E

Hi

> scrolling with newest drivers for Win7 from Toshiba and Synaptics doesnt works good.
Does this means that scrolling function is available after the installation of Win 7?

Hmm? for me it sounds like you would need to configure this touchpad function.
You can do this in control panel -> mouse -> device settings
There should be an additional tab containing all the touchpad options?

There you could change and increase the touch area which is needed for scrolling and similar? you could increase the sensitivity too?

Satellite A200-1BW.

This has a Synaptics dual mode touchpad which swaps modes when you tap the top right corner - at least it used to! Upgraded to Win7 and had to do a clean install as I had Vista Ultimate 32 bit version.
Used the Tosh upgrade package but the touchpad driver only gave me basic functionality, not dual mode.

Looked around and installed Luxpad V6.5 driver 9.1.14 dated 02 Nov 2007. Played around a bit and got everything nearly normal but the pad does not light & change mode when I tap the top right corner despite the check box for this being ticked. It does light and function if I tick the second option regarding the external mouse etc.

Any ideas will be gratefully considered as I do tend to use this. Cheers.

Answer:Touchpad on Satellite A200-1BW will not light when tapping right top

Hi can anybody give myself and my friend some help, we both have brand new A200-28P laptops and she has just experienced this weird problem with the touchpad that I first noticed about a week after I bought mine. I was happily using the touchpad when all of a sudden it lit up blue and totally froze and no matter what I did it wouldn't respond and I had to force the laptop into shutdown(via Ctrl, Alt and Del buttons) to get the touch pad to respond again and it did this to me about 3 times and I thought maybe it was just me doing something wrong as I don't get on well with touchpads, find them hard to use especially when playing computer games so I bought an external mouse but it has lit up this blue once more since then and that was the other night when I forgot about my external mouse and moved something using the touchpad but luckily because of my external mouse could carry on and not have to shut laptop down.

Now this afternoon my friend has just sent me a text explaining why she logged off as her touchpad just did this blue light up thing and froze. There is no warning its going to do it, one minute its fine next its blue and frozen, anybody else experienced this and if so how do you fix it as couldn't find any help at all on the knowledge base or in my troubleshooting bit on the manual.

Answer:Satellite A200-28P: touchpad goes blue and freezes

well if its anything like my laptop then don't worry. If you tap the top right of the pad where you see the 2 arrows then the touchpad lights up blue as this allows you to use shortcuts and control volume with it. If it goes blue, to get it off again just tap the top right corner.

Originally when i had my A200-1HU I could use the right hand side of the touchpad to scroll. I now cannot do so.

I cannot find anyway to rectify this, there is a logo in systray saying synaptics pointing device but when I click on it, it takes me to pointing device properties that are relevant to a mouse not a pad.

How do I get my scrolling back on my touchpad?

Answer:Satellite A200-1HU: How do I get scrolling back on my touchpad

I lost all the functions on my touchpad after a windows update, which installed new synaptic touchpad drivers. After a lot of frustration and hours later i finally got them back by reinstalling Alps Electric touchpad drivers, NOT the synaptic drivers.
You can find the drivers under the support and downloads link.
Hope this helps

Hey all!

I upgraded my laptop with Vista to Windows 7 Professional and ever since then I cannot get access to the touchpad settings at all. I want to turn off the tapping and turn on the scrolling. I have tried installing and uninstalling the device as well as the new the new driver for my symantics touchpad from the symantics website and the recommended driver from the toshiba site but neither has worked.

When I go into device properties and go to change settings the only options I have are to specify the actions the two buttons have.

Totally absolutely frustrated...it should have been an easy fix.

Any suggestions?

My A200 is 20 days old. OS is Vista Home OEM.
From time to time, my touchpad produces left clicks, which can be very annoying if I am writing something.

I know that it is left click, because if I have large text, my cursor appears from time to time in line where pointer is located at that moment.

I tried with uninstallation/installation Touchpad drivers, but it did not solve my problem.

Best,
VJT

Answer:Satellite A200-1YX: Sometimes Touchpad produces left clicks

Hey Dragan

Please don?t be mad at me but I don?t think that an touchpad could create left clicks automatically.
I think you have touched accidentally the touchpad surface while typing and therefore the cursor switched to another position.

Try to disable the touchpad using the key combination FN+F9 and check if it happens again?

Hi,

I recently bought a Satellite A200-1YO model PSAE3E. I have tried to enable the dual mode touch pad however nothing happens no blue lights are seen etc. How can I find out if this model has this feature?

Originally I had the Alps driver and I tried to install the Synaptics one but this removed the Alps one so I had limited functionality i.e no Advanced settings option.
I have restored this again to the Alps one.

The OS is Win Vista Premium Home edition 32 bit.

Hi there,

Im having problems with my Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 Touchpad. It was fine until when i was walking down the stairs and accidently dropped it. The hard drive had to be replaced and the touchpad wansn't working. I've tried to diagnose the problem by checking device manager updating driver's etc. And ive narrowed it down to 2 causes: Damaged motherboard OR the touchpad wire has come loose/off. So as im really good with computers and very good with laptop's i need to disassemble my Laptop to get to the touchpad wire and check it out first. And then i will know if it is the touchpad or the motherboard. And now I have never disassembled a laptop before i have no idea what the process is especially for my medel which i cannot find guides for as it is not a very recent one. Could someone please give instructions on how to disassemble it? I will leave model and other info. about it at the end of this post. I would appreciate links to a guide etc or just simple easy instruction and pictures would be helpful.

Thank you ever so much for reading this wall of text and Thank you if you decide to help me out

Hi,

I have this problem with my touchpad. I'm running Vista Business and have my touchpad drivers installed but the Fn key combination for turning it on/off doesn't work. It starts to work when I install value addes package but then my FN brightness key combination doesn't work

What can I do to make all of them work?

Answer:TouchPad On/Off FN button doesn't work on Satellite A200

You must install all stuff listed in ?Installations Instructions? document. Please install all stuff as listed in this document because installations order is very important.

You must understand that using FN keys combination you have influence on several different applications. Touchpad ON/OFF is separately application. ?Flash cards? is separately applications and part of Value Added Package.

Simply install all Toshiba tools and utilities and everything will be ok.

Hi,

I spent a lot of time searching for the solution of my problem, but without effects.

My touchpad is not working properly. I mean, i can move the arrow and click on the screen, that is ok. But all other functions (volume, mailbox and other "virtual buttons" are not working)- so called "dual mode".
I got mouse connected to the USB.

If I disconnect it, there is no change - the touchpad works only in the basic mode.
If I change in touchpad settings for "always in Dual Mode when an outside device is plugged in" - the Dual mode and all the virtual buttons work.
But what should I do to make the dual mode work even if the mouse is not connected (to make the on/off button work)???

Thanks for all help,
M.

Answer:Satellite A200 touchpad function not working properly

I?m a little bit confused now and I don?t know what you want exactly?
You speak about the touchpad, dual mode, USB mouse, etc.

I don?t know what you mean with dual mode and maybe you should give us more informations about your OS.
And do you use the touchpad or USB mouse?

Can you post a screenshot or something else?

I don?t know if this solves your problem but have you tried to update the touchpad driver? You can find it on the Toshiba website.

Dear friends,

I have installed the Synaptics Pointing Device for the touchpad. I have assigned in the 3 buttons, 3 differerent applications so that when I touch each one of these buttons to start the appropriate application.

The question is how I change the applications that I have assigned?

The very first time, before the attaching, when I touch for example, the first button, a small window appeared asking to attach an application, the same happened with the rest 2 buttons.
But now because I want to change these application I have attached,to these buttons, I don't know th way.

if someone can help please.

Thanks a lot

Answer:Satellite A200-23X: How to change app assigned to touchpad buttons

Hi

I think you can change the touchpad button settings in the touchpad properties.
You could find the properties in *control panel -> mouse -> device settings (last tab) -> settings button*

There are some options. You have to choose the option called ?Dual mode?
There you will find the area where new applications could be assigned.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A200 Notebook - Synaptics Touchpad Not Scrolling?

It could be a hardware issue.

I had similar problems w/ notebook - mousepad had to be replaced.

You could try to un-install all drivers in Device Manager then re-boot. Vista will re-install. Also make sure to go to OEM site and get updated driver - if available.

Note that you will lose mouse function completely after un-install. Have USB mouse or b/c familar with CTRL-ALT-DEL that will get you to screen so you can use arrow keys to restart system

What should I do?

Sorry for my english....

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 Touchpad scroll dosnt work after Win 7 installation

Hi

You should install a compatible touchpad driver.
Choose Satellite L500 on the Toshiba European driver page.
Here you will find the 2 Win 7 touchpad drivers; Alps Electric and Synaptics.

Both have to be installed!!!

Hello,

I have installed my Satellite A200-19l new with Vista Ultimate from an microsoft dvd.
It works fine but the FN Keys (like Email , Volume etc ) do not work on my Touchpad.

I have installed the Value added package and the other FN Keys on the F Buttons work.

Thank you for your help.

Answer:Satellite A200-19l: Touchpad FN function don't work Vista Ultimate

Satellite A200-19L belongs to the PSAECE series.
The Toshiba driver page provides two touchpad drivers;
One from Alps Electric and one from Synaptics

The Synaptics driver allows you to set the properties and functions for Touch Pad control.
The Alps Electric driver allows you to set the properties and functions for mouse control.

Check if both are installed properly

Hello everybody.

I need some help with my A200-1HV. The problem is, that my touchpad does'nt work:( I use polish Windows Vista Home premium, and I have uninstaled some programs form the system, that were'nt usefull for me.
After this, touchpad stopped working. I have drivers for it and in system it looks that the touchpad should be working, but it does not. I am not sure which programs I have unistaled, but for sure it was config free (but I have instaled it afterwards and it still does'nt work).

Maybe some of you will know, which programs from the system are needed for touchpad to work, beside drivers.
I would be very greatfull for any ideas.

Answer:Satellite A200-1HV: Touchpad doesn’t work after removing of some programs

Hi

I don?t see any connection between the ConfigFree and the touchpad so in my opinion the touchpad should work without installed ConfigFree!!!
I presume you have removed or changed anything else.

However, except the touchpad driver reinstallation I would recommend checking if the touchpad functionality was not disabled. You can enable and disable the touchpad using the FN+F9 keys.

If it does not help to enable the touchpad I would recommend using the system restore tool and to roll back the OS to the early point (before you have removed the programs).
Usually this should helps.

Check it!

Does anyone know why the touchpad has stopped working- it happened after a Windows Vista home edition upgrade.
External USB mouse is ok but touchpad doesn't respond.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Answer:Touchpad stopped working on Satellite A200 after Vista upgrade

Maybe the touchpad drivers don?t response and are muddled up.
Remove the touchpad driver from the system and reinstall it again.

The touchpad drivers are available on the Toshiba European driver page.

Reinstall it and test it again!!!

PS: You should firstly check if the touchpad is not disabled!!!

I got a satellite A200-10W. The touchpad worked fine the begining. Then a windows update was installed and i lost the dual mode on my touchpad.

It gives me normal function as a touchpad but the button mode doesnt work. It doesnt light up, it doest give me button options, the volume control doesnt work, it doesnt even scroll in normal mode either.
I reinstalled the drivers both synaptics and alps, but no avail.

How can i ever use dual mode again ?

Thanks for any help !!!!

Answer:Satellite A200-10W: I lost Touchpad dual mode after Windows update

Hi

Very strange? I didn?t notice any problems with touchpad after the windows update.
I have updates my windows and then have lost the sound. After new reboot I have run the update and the sound come back?

But in you case it looks like the MS updates could have a bad influence on the touchpad functions.

Did you choose the right touchpad drivers for the PSAECE series?
The Synaptics Touch Pad Driver allows you to set the properties and functions for Touch Pad control.
And the Alps Electric Touch Pad Driver allows you to set the properties and functions for mouse control.

Maybe you have to configure the settings again after the new installation of the touchpad drivers ?:|

But did you try to update the Windows Vista again? Sometimes you have to reboot the notebook to get all necessary updates which will fix the issues.

In worth case, recover the notebook and do not perform the windows updates?

The driver is updated, the touchpad works normally most of the time, but from time to time (quite often) the vertical scroll (the bar on the right side of touchpad) stops reacting and it's impossible to scroll vertically. After a while it reactivates again and works normally again...

What's the issue?

Answer:Satellite A200-14D: touchpad vertical scroll stops working periodically

Who knows why this happen? :)
It will be nice to have answer to such ?periodical? issues.

Have you tried to play a little bit with Virtual Scrolling settings?
Try to change scrolling region. Try to expand it a little bit.

Hi,
when connected to the power supply and using the touch pad the pointer jumps about erratically (only when touching the pad) even if I hold my finger still.

BUT if I keep in contact with anything connected to the laptops 'ground' such as the VGA connector then everything works correctly.

Also if the laptop is sitting on my lap this also corrects the issue (I experimented by placing it on a damp towel to simulate the shielding effect of my body and it had the same effect i.e. no jittery pointer).

Lastly when running on battery there is no problem.

I have tried upgrading and downgrading the drivers as well as all sorts of permutations in the settings so I'm sure its a hardware thing. Dismantled the system to take a look at the touch pad connections but nothing stood out.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone or do you have any ideas what tests I could do to pinpoint the problem further?

Thanks,
Shane

Answer:Satellite A200 - Random touchpad movement when conected to power supply

hi doctus / shane,

sound to me like a wire isnt properly inserted...
the flat cable from the touchpad has to be refitted.
on the touchpad *and* the mainboard - just take it out and reinsert it.
be careful the connectors are tricky and very sensitve - they break fast as hell!
maybe the flat cable is broke...

if unsure what to do ask a servicepartner for assistance....

i dont think that this issue is a hardware failure.... but what do i know... ;-)

Hey,

I received a notification of an upgrade on the synaptics touch pad installed on my A200-1m4 notebook and after installing it the touchpad wouldn't respond well, so I rolled back the driver, but it wouldn't use the scroll option. I reinstalled the driver again, but still I couldn't use the scroll function.

On the icon in the taskbar, when I want to see the pressue graph accessory it gives me this msg *Sorry, this program requires a Synaptics TouchPad and the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver* I believe I am missing the second one, so can anyone let me know where I can find the installation file for it.

Thanks Very much in advance,
Leen

Answer:Synaptics Touchpad and Pointing Device Driver missing on Satellite A200?

Hi

This Satellite A200-1M4 belongs to the PSAE0E series and you have to choose this series number for a driver download.

On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the *Alps Electric Touch Pad driver*. (This driver allows you to set the properties and functions for mouse control) and
the *Synaptics Touch Pad driver* (This driver allows you to set the properties and functions for Touch Pad control).

Both must be installed!!!

If this doesn?t help then try to roll back the OS to the early time point (before you have updated the driver for the first time)

Hi,

After I updated the BIOS (from Toshiba's website), the scrolling function stop working. I can still click, move the mouse pointer, but can no longer scroll through touch pad. Reinstalling Synaptics driver doesn't resolve the problem. The strange thing is that the computer only detects my touchpad as standard pointing device (port: PS/2) device. 'Pressure graph' and 'Moodpad' function also stop working and complain 'this program requires a Synaptics TouchPad and the Synaptics Pointing device driver'.
My computer is Satellite A200 PSAE0C-TR605C.

Does anyone know the reason?
Thanks

Answer:Satellite A200 - Touchpad scrolling function stop working after update BIOS

Hello,

Which operating system is installled and which is more interesting: which BIOS version did you installed?? Why I am asking? Because there are 2 different BIOS versions, one for Vista (1.80) and one for XP (5.20) which means when you flash a XP BIOS on a machine with Vista installed then some functions are not working properly like the FN keys or the touchpad.

Please check this out and make sure you have the proper BIOS installed.

Hey everyone.
I've just recently bought a Satellite A200-1SX and I've noticed that the fan is constantly turning on for about 5 seconds then goes off.
Does anybody have any ideas why this is happening? Is this normal? Is there any software that can help me?

thanks a bunch.

Answer:Re: Fan issue on Satellite A200-1SX

Hi mate,

did you already tried an BIOS-update? That would probably help but I cannot promise to you..
To download the latest BIOS from the Toshiba website just go here -> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/home.do?service=EU&from=http%3A//www.toshiba-europe.com/

and to reach the Drivers n? Download section you just have to go to "Support & Downloads" -> "Support Homepage" -> "Download - Download Drivers" and choose your machine and the driver/tool you want. (In your case the BIOS update)

Another option would be to modify the powersaver settings, so the FAN won?t spin all the time. You can keep your machine much more quiet by choosing lower performance settings (I think the lower performance shouldn?t be recognizable during "normal" work) which results (or should) in fewer spins of the FAN.

Just check it out by clicking on "Toshiba Powersaver" in the "Control Panel".

When did this problem occur? Have you installed some drivers or programs or tried to install Windows XP?

If you install WinXP, the installation disc will need the SATA drivers to be integrated or put on an external USB floppy disk drive.

Hi, just hoping for a bit of insight in to what the problem may be with my Satellite A200.

It started with one key not working, then another stopped working. Then I'd press a key but it would come up with a different letter on the screen. Then it got really bad, I couldn't use the keyboard at all as random letters would appear as I typed, eventually escalating to the point where letters would continuously appear on the screen when the keyboard wasn't being touched.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling driver, didn't help. Tried a usb keyboard which was great until tonight. Neither the laptop keyboard nor usb keyboard are working when typed on, yet sometimes random letters appear on the screen.

I was willing to replace the keyboard if it was just a keyboard issue, but now I'm wondering whether it could be the motherboard. Has anyone else experienced the same or similar problem?

Nothing has been spilt on the keyboard.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Keyboard issue on Satellite A200

This is very confusing when the USB keyboard doesn?t work too. At first I thought it must be defective keyboard but I am afraid there is some serious hardware problem and I don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help.

Hello,

I have a problem with my Satellite A200-1DY.

In last two days this issue occurs two times. When I start the laptop there are only three icons in systray, speaker, battery and network icon, then, the laptop stops and doesn't work. I can not use the mouse, or keyboard and the fan cooler doesn't work.

When I put my hand over the area where there the processor is placed it is pretty warm. I can't reset the laptop. At first I must disconnect it from the electricity. After doing this I can start the laptop again. The fan cooler starts running very fast and it removes much heat from the processor area.

What can I do?
Sorry for my horrible English and marry Christmas.

Answer:Strange issue with my Satellite A200

Hello

At first I must say that your English is very good and understandable. Now after this compliment get back to described issue. ;)

I have Satellite A200 too and I have installed Vista and WXP several times and have never noticed similar issue. I must say that all my tests were with clean preinstalled operating system.

In your case, it is not easy to say why this happen but fact is that some process must be loaded and at this point notebook blocks. Usually if you keep down power button for about 5 seconds he notebook should be switched OFF.

You must understand that nobody of us knows what your personal OS configuration is and if there is some application you have installed last days. Exact some application that runs in the background can not be loaded properly and notebook blocks.

What to do? You can enter MSCONFIG and check all entries in ?Systemstart?. Try to disable all stuff you do not need and test it again. Maybe you will be lucky and find out if there is something that blocks notebook startup.

Sorry but it is really not possible to say why this happen. If you want you can try to roll back OS to earlier time before this starts in hope the OS will runs as before.

Bye and good luck!

Hi,

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A200-28P back in October, its a great notebook but I have always had an issue when it boots.

Occasionally, and I mean randomly with no pattern, when I switch it on the hard drive lights flash but then it beeps twice and nothing happens.
I have to turn it off and try again, I have found the best way to solve the problem is open and close the lid a couple of times and then try and start the machine. I took it to PC World where I bought it and they were somewhere less than useless, the first time the "+technician+" said he had fixed it and that it was lose RAM, when I asked if he had actually reproduced it he looked some what bemused.

I took his word, even thought I had done my own research which pointed towards a graphic\screen issue, and took it home. Sure enough the problem reproduced straight away within a day or so, the second time I took it back they suggested because its so occasional, which it is and I have found no reproducible pattern to it, that it wouldn't be worth sending away.

Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing it? It doesn't seem to effect the machine in any way when its actually working, checked all the Windows event logs and nothing so its occurring well before that.

The second question is much easier one of my CTRL keycaps has broken off the key is fine, is there anywhere I can get a replacement keycap? Please don't say PC World!!!

Thanks
Jon

Answer:Satellite A200-28P - Issue when it boots

Hi

I don?t know why this happened but for me it sounds like a mainboard or RAM problem but I?m not sure.
The RAM you can check with Memtest86. It?s a special diagnostic tool for the RAM and freeware. Use Google to find it.

Furthermore if Memtest86 can?t find a problem your notebook should be checked by a notebook technician. They can determine what the problem is and they have also experience in notebook disassembling.
And a new keyboard you can also get from an authorized service provider.

Sorry but at the moment I can?t say more.

Hi,

Brand new machine, with XP Pro pre-installed, and I am trying to adjust my screen resolution.

Currently the maximum allowable is 1280x800, or else I can have 1024x768 with a centred screen.

I would ideally like to have 1280x1024, as the 800 option makes some program windows look squashed, and it also means that the ratio I have been used to now needs to be changed mentally...a hard change I am sure you realise.

I have two questions: is there a download display/chipset driver I can get to allow for 1280x1024, and if so, which one is it, and what is the URL.

Many thanks in advance,
Adam.

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-1MV - Resolution Issue

Hi there,

the problem in your case is that your internal screen is not able to do more then 1280x800 since it?s the displays "native resolution" which means this is the resolution which can be displayed correctly by the internal screen of your notebook.

More information about native resolutions can be found here:

Maybe something wring with the graphic card?
IF this issue will appear again connect it to an external monitor to check if the same will appear on the second display.
If this issue will not appear on the external monitor then either the notebook display or the FL inverter malfunctions.

However, both cases the authorized service provider in you country should be contacted because this could be a hardware problem and the faulty part should be replaced.

Hello, I have a Satellite A200 14D, and I have Vista installed. Recently I downloaded CPU-Z, and took a look at the processor's details. There is an annoying thing: The processor speed falls back from 1800 Mhz to 700 Mhz every time it isn't in use, although in BIOS it is set to fixed, and the computer is plugged in, and at the power management it is set to 100% too. Is that a problem?

Why is this? Thank you.

Answer:Processor issue on Satellite A200-14D?

First of all: no thats not a problem. I mean if you need preformance then the CPU goes automatically up to it?s normal speed.

Regarding the 1800-700Mhz: I think the chipset does it by itself. It?s maybe some internal powersaving feature. Weird is, that the CPU runs not on top speed even if it?s set to fixed speed. Commonly that is REALLY NO problem since the machine serves you with the speed you demand.

I think it?s more a subjective problem which is from your point of view which is surely understandable because you?re worried. But I think you should live it since your machine is not defective and works flawlessly. (It would be another thing if the machine would crash constantly or if you have some bluescreens or whatever..)

I hope that it?s now clearer for you. :)

Hello everyone,
I apologize for my English, I'm not an English-speaking.

2 months ago, my notebook didn't want to boot.
I call the After Sale Service which tell me to send it in repair.
No problem : my notebook came me back and it worked fine.

Now there is a *new* (graphic) problem : sometimes, and I don't now why, the screen is dirty.
One can see white traces and white little dots everywhere on the screen, especially near the icons.
It's rather than difficult to explain precisely in English.
I attempted to make a screen, but the bug don't appear on it ; I will try a photo tomorrow...

To make them disappear, I have just to close the screen, which make my notebook hibernating, and when I open it up (immediately), all is good.
+Damned, the bug have just came back !!+

Did someone had this bug ?

_Edit :_
They changed motherboard + CPU + graphic card.

Answer:Graphic issue with Satellite A200-13M

You described issue is really strange?
I can?t image what this could be exactly but if this appears after your GPU and CPU was changed then I would recommend contacting the ASP again and to ask what is going wrong.

I don?t know if you are using an newest graphic driver and BIOS but you should check if the issue would still persist with updated BIOS and graphic driver.
But if you will not notice any improvements then an ASP call is needed

Hi,

I've been working on a friends A200-AHC308. It had a few viruses and was currently running XP, so I decided to reformat to XP-SP3. Prior to the reformat I attempted to back up all of his files to a USB flash drive, although the computer had problems recognizing the USB. I figured that the problem may have had something to do with a faulty driver installation so ignored it and continued with the format, having backed up his files on a DVD. After the reformat I am still having the same issue. All drivers are installed properly and nothing in Device Manager is popping up with a question mark. What happens is this: I plug the media in (whether it be an external HDD or a flashdrive) and the computer goes through its device wizard. It does one of two things:
Says the device was installed successfully although when attempting to access it through My Computer the drive does not load (it is present, although when attempting to open it I have no luck).
Says the device is not compatible.

Anyone?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A200 USB Issue

If you have a second USB flash drive available, plug it into the Toshiba and see if you can read from/write to it.

If you can, it's likely the drive you backed the data up on is either going bad or was corrupted by the virus(es). If this is the case, any attempt at recovering the data should be done with extreme caution. If inserted into and accessed from another PC there is a good chance it will infect it. Go to the virus and malware section of the board for specific scanning and cleaning tips for the drive before you attempt to open or transfer any data from it.

If the second (clean) USB drive doesn't work, reboot the PC with the USB drive removed and try again. If it still fails, go to http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal and download the Beta version of Microsoft's Fix-It Tool. XP SP3 had a few bugs; this tool fixes many of them.

Hope this helps.

Dear Sirs,

I have Toshiba A200-1M7 & since I bought it I had a problem which is freezing and startup take too much!

It took me to startup about 10 minutes and sometimes while using my laptop the HDD light turns off and my whole laptop stops!!

It?s and also it's so slow!
I don't know why that happens but I sent it to the distributer and he told me that there is no problem with the hardware!

Recently I'm using Linux! And nothing happens with me!
I mean everything continues normal & no freezing and so fast!

So I think the problem is from Windows Vista .
So could you please help me , if anyone faced this issue before?

Reards
Feras Allaou

Answer:Slow Satellite A200-1M7 and freezing issue

Do you know why your A200 is slow and boots slowly?
Because Vista needs more resources as a Linux OS or early Win OS.
Furthermore you Satellite loads a lot of background processes at startup.
This slows down the notebook and extends the booting time.

The background processes belong to some Toshiba and other tools which are necessary to use and to control the whole notebook features,

But of course you can disable it if you want;
Start msconfig and in tab ?Sartup? you could disable some not necessary (for you) applications.

Haven't observed this charging behaviour, but I can tell too, that the percentage is longer on 99 then on others. Why, I don't know.
And I have not watched if it is charging from 96, above, or below.

I think this is normal and would not call this an issue.

I have a startup issue with a A200-1AI model. When I press the power button on the laptop the power light stays on blue and the hard drive light flashes blue for a second then disappears. And the CDROM drive light stays permanently green. Nothing appears on the screen at all and there is hardly any noise coming from the laptop.

I have tried the following but the same issue still occurs

- Removed battery for at least 5 mins then reinserted
- Removed battery completed and started directly via mains
- Reconnected hard drive
- Reconnected RAM, in all possible combinations (i.e. left one RAM module in with the other out and swapped via both RAM bays)
- Reconnected all major components connected to the motherboard basically I took the keyboard off and reconnected anything I could find just to make sure all connections were in place
- Plugged in an external monitor
- Manually opened the CD-ROM drive to ensure nothing is stuck

Seeing as the hard drive light flashes it seems to indicate a HDD fault however I would at least expect the machine to enter the BIOS and then report a HDD fault? It seems to point to a component failure somewhere but would like to see if anyone else out there knows, maybe a motherboard failure?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated :)

Answer:Satellite A200-1AI - System Startup Issue

Sound like you tried pretty much everything you can, which means there's a good chance of a hardware problem (Mainboard or VGA Board I imagine).

I would send the notebook to an ASP for a quote.

I have had my Toshiba Satellite A200 for a while now and it was second hand when I got it.
The ac power indicator is flashing constantly and the laptop is getting no charge, is there any way to fix this?

I cannot turn on the computer as it has no charge in its battery anyway, and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Answer:Power issue on second hand Satellite A200-1DA

Flashing power indicator is probably sign that there is some serious problem with power supply electronic.
Unfortunately such issues cannot be solved by notebook owners.

You should contact nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

Hello,
I recently purchased an IPS monitor for photo editing. I configured the monitor in multiple ways, as dual monitor or extended monitors, but the image on the external monitor has some small flickering and the image is not very pleasant for the eye, a sensation like small refresh rate on old monitor, very disturbing for the eye.
I connected the monitor to another laptop and the image looks much better.

What could be the problem? I have Windows 7 32 bit and Ati Mobility Radeon HD 2600 as adapter with latest drivers.

Answer:Re: Satellite A200-1IZ - External monitor issue

We don't know which monitor have you exactly but what is the native display resolution and which resolution is set on this external monitor when you use it with your notebook?

Hi

does anyone know what the cause of this problem may be - when i put a disc into my laptop to install new sotware - i see the following error:

***"D:\ is not accessible***

***The request could not be performed because of an I/O error"***

thanks

Kristian

Answer:Satellite Pro A200 - CD/DVD drive issue - D:\ is not accessible

I can provide you a possible solution, which worked for many others already:

Go to device manager and remove the CD/DVD drive from the device list.
Then start the registry (regedit) and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After this, reboot your machine and windows will install the drive again. Check if this worked out for you.

Hi all

I have updated my notebook with the drivers from Toshiba support site, and I updated all with Windows Vista 32-bits drivers.

And now my windows in the top are with problems..... (attached in link)

Image one
Image two

On the support site there is no other display driver.
Does somebody know how can I solve this problem?

Thanks Daniel

Answer:Strange graphic issue on my Satellite A200-1V0

The notebook was delivered and preinstalled with Vista. Am I right?
Therefore you have received a Toshiba Recovery CD too.

Did you notice such display issues with the Toshiba preinstalled OS???
Or did the display issue appear after the installation of the new display driver?

You could try to connect an external monitor to test if the same would be visible on the second display. This info would be helpful to provide further suggestions regarding your display problem.

Hi there!

I have a question about A200-10W Video Out feature. In my case there is no problem with video out, it works flawlesly. But there is a minor problem.

If I connect my laptop to TV, there seem to be some refresh rate or scan line problems on TV, quite annoying to, that is, if i have the laptop connected to power line. If it runs on battery, the picture is good.
Anyone knows a workaround to this problem?

Best regards,
Haiku ;)

Answer:Satellite A200-10W: refresh rate issue on TV while using AC adapter

Hi,

I guess that's the same problem as if you have an annoying buzzing on audio, if you connect audio-out to an amplifier.
Believe it or not, sometimes it really helps if you just turn around the AC-plug in the wall socket.
When this doesn't work you could try to connect it to a wall socket which is connected to another circuit in your house.
This helped in my case.
There can be many causes for this problem - when I googled for it - in German for "Brummschleife" - the next step would
be to buy a multi-socket adapter wirh a special filter.
This also doesn't help if the problem is somehow caused by an antenna connection, there are also ( expensive ) solutions
for this.

Please experiment and report !

Hi,

have new satellite a200 14d vith Vista Home Premium, and there are two annoying problems:

1. Very often, but not everytime, when i close the lid to put computer to sleep - after i open (wake) it again, the icon in the tray shows me, that there is "no sound device connected" (red cross over the speaker) and so the laptop is totaly mute - no sound possible from it (except unexpectedly and suprisigly loud "grinding" of the hard disc, hehe - grrrrr...).
Sometimes it helps just to close and open the lid again, but most of the cases i had to restart the computer.
Of course, i downloaded the latest realtek sound driver from this site, but doesn't help.

2. Also very often my network freezes. I temporarely use the UMTS connection over mobile phone - via bluetooth; It just somehow stops working itself; If i click the "dial-up" shortcut icon nothing happens, also if i right-click the network icon in the tray - nothing, and if i go to control panel - network&sharing the computer freezes totaly, so that i have to switch it off by longpushing the switch button.

Who can help? Thanks!

Hi all!
I have an A200-1i7 and I had to install Windows 7 64bit.

for now i have just 2gb of ram but i'm going to increase up to 4. the reason why i installed a 64bit is that, in this manner, i will be able to use all the ram, instead of just 3gb of it.
of course, for now, i didn't expect a super-fast pc with just 2gb, but what i have is a SUPERSLOW one.
the main problem is that the ram usage easily goes up to 1,8/1,9 gb but even when it's at 1gb the pc is reeaally slow and the CPU usage is also always high.

is that normal? what i have to do is just to add more RAM? actually I don't think so, it seems there is a more important issue, and i think it's about drivers.

in fact, no WIN 7 64bit drivers are available on the Toshiba website, and all the stuff I found on the internet, eventually, didn't work. the result is that i have, for instance:

Intel 965 Chipset Family driver 8.15.10.1930 (23 September 2009)
Display generic Plug & Play 6.1.7600.16385 (21 June 2006)
BIOS v.1.20 (25 April 2007)
so the questions become:
- do you have any idea why my pc is so slow? (hardware issues should be excluded, because i have another partition with xp32bit and it goes perfectly)
- honestly, can I run a good system with this laptop and windows7 64bit?
- if yes, can you indicate me wich drivers should I install and where to find them?

thank you!

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200- 23U and it has a problem... sometimes the graphics suddenly seems worse or are destroyed. A simply restart can make them work correct but it is very possible to happen again.... when I say that the graphics get worse I mean that the resolution becomes a little bit worse and the colours are unacceptable...some waves are created and the areas that before the probleme were almost of the same colour now are surrounded of a ring-wave, they have only one colour with no shading and some white spots are in these areas.... after the restart everything is ok...!!!

I think that the problem is coming when the laptop is hot but I am not sure because it has appeared also when the laptop was working only some minutes in cold environment, and sometimes the device can be turned on for many hours and very hot but the problem does not appear....Where do you think is the problem?

The possible reasons I can think is the monitor or the cable that connects the graphic card with the monitor. Another reason that I don?t think is very possible is the graphic card. I think this less possible because if the problem exists on my laptop and I connect another external screen such as my TV, the problem still exists on laptop's monitor but the picture on the external monitor is perfect...

I am willing to put new and bigger (from 2gb I will put 4gp) ram memory because the graphic card uses the RAM and the RAM is working very high when I play a game or watch ... Read more

Answer:Satellite A200-23U - strange Grapich/Display issue

Hi John

What so say? As I can see you have good test connecting your notebook to the TV. Fact is that this test can help you to see if the problem can be related to graphic card but if there is no problem graphic card is probably OK and this graphic issue must be related to something else.

Of course, on this virtual way, nobody will be able to offer exact diagnostic and say what the problem can be and we can just speculate which hardware part can be ?troublemaker?.

In my opinion there must be some problem between motherboard and display. I don?t think display is defective but maybe the cable should be exchanged, maybe connector on mainboard make problems. It is not easy to say what to do.

Fact is that deep analysis only will offer exact answer so I think you need professional help with this.
Maybe you should contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. Let them check all this and order new parts if necessary.

I don?t think you want to make risk and disassemble whole notebook on your own, do you?

Hi Everyone

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook and I have tried to install Photoshop CS4 Extended yesterday.
There appears to be a problem as every image I bring up looks like this (image link to my flickr account to show what is happening) http://www.flickr.com/photos/meg_and_fred/2990212103/

I have updated the ATI driver, uninstalled and reinstalled CS4 and its still not working. I also have Photoshop Elements 6 which is opening the same images perfectly so it mus be a CS4 and A200 compatibility problem - does anyone know how to fix this or what the problem could be?

Thanks so much!!

Answer:Satellite A200 - Picture issue with Photoshop CS4 Extended

Maybe you should update your Photoshop CS4 Extended software.
In my opinion this could solve this issue because as you said the picture can be edited properly using the Photoshop Elements 6.

I think it?s ONLY a Photoshop CS4 Extended software issue.

I have to open it select "all cut" and paste it to a new email.
Is anybody else having this problem?

Stupid thing is there are 6 other emails in there in some are finished some aren't.
Yet its picked this one to mark it as a read/sent email.

Hi..

I now that this subject is discussed many times before, but after trying a lot of the solutions of the forum and some of my one, I have reached a level that it makes no sense...

First off all I would like to explain that what i do for a living it has to do with IT and that is what it makes it even more tempting to me.

2 days ago a bought a A200-23W Toshiba. The first thing i always do when i buy a new laptop is to format it and install a clean Windows OS.
I realized after my first attempt that I have to install first of all the Matrix Storage Driver.

I have downloaded the driver from toshiba site related to my model. (Intel Matrix Storage Manager-7.5.0.1017).
I have created a usb with the required files for the driver :

iaAhci.inf,
iaAhci.cat,
iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
iaStor.sys, and
TxtSetup.oem

from the (F6flpy) folder of the (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) copying them to the root of the USB.
When the "Where you want to Install windows" form at windows vista appear i select load driver, and then by Clicking (Browse), I select the USB as a source for my drivers.
The (Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller) automatically appears as a selection and by clicking (Next) the process of driver installation starts.
So far so good..

Now is where the things are getting complicated..
When Vista return to the "Where you want to Install windows" form, even that my system has 2 x 200 GG HDD only one 200 GB HDD app... Read more

Answer:Satellite A200-23W: Windows Vista installation issue

Hi

You cannot format the HDD or delete the partition because this would delete the installed SATA driver too and the HDD would be not recognized by Vista!

Hi. First post to this forum.

I have a Satellite Pro A200. Volume when tested through the Realtek audio controller (just upgraded to 5.1) is good, with a satisfactory volume. Howver the volume of DVD/CD playback, or online radio, is very soft, and only just audible.

I have been to every volume setting and set everything to maximum.

I had hoped downloading the most recent Realtek software would stop this problem that has existed since I bought the laptop, but I am only doing something about now...

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Matt

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E Audio volume issue

With DVD playback I agree with you, most of the time I hardly understand a word of what they say in movies. There it depends on what software you use because there are some setting which can boost sound level or have special notebook sound modes.

Have you tried your notebook with other software like winamp if the volume is low there too?

Answer:Satellite A200 - USB ports issue - cannot read the USB stick

Hi

Firstly it would be interesting to know if you are using the Toshiba preinstalled OS.
Secondly you should check the USB controller status in the device manger.

I recommend disconnecting all external USB devices from the notebook.
Then remove all the USB root hubs and USB Host controllers from the device manger.
Then reboot the notebook and wait till Windows would reinstall all USB ports again.
Then you can connect an USB mouse or the USB stick again.

Since one of the windows update couple of months ago, my Sat A200 began having problem with the keypad.

After using for couple of hours, the key E of the keypad seems stuck up i.e. I cannot key in anything as the key e appears continuously.
I have to re-boot the computer to overcome this.

Anyone have similar experience and what can I do to prevent this from recurring.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A200 - keyboard issue - E button stucks

I didn?t notice any such similar issues.
But it would be interesting to know if this is a mechanical issue with the E button or if this could be related to the software (Vista update) issue.

To be honest I can?t believe that an Vista update could cause such issue.
I?ve got 2 notebooks and Vista was preinstalled on both notebooks.
I updated it and something like that has never appeared.

If you want you can check if the same issue would persist after the Recovery procedure.

But in my opinion there could be an issue with the keyboard and maybe it?s advisable to contact the ASP for keyboard check and for a keyboard replacement if necessary.

The problem concerns the driver for Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. System: Vindows VISTA 32bit Home Premium Service Pack 1. Laptop: Satellite A200.

I installed the new driver from this source (suggestion by Toshiba TEMPO):

http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?ID=65340&OSID=26&drive rLanguage=42&SOURCE=TEMPO&LNG=20

After switching on of the computer, the system is constantly asking me ("warning about securities"), whether to run (open) 3 files: C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe / ...hkcmd.exe / ...igfxpers.exe. Disabling of option "Always ask before opening of the file" doesn't help. I have to choose option "Open / Cancel / Close" to continue switching on of the Windows (any option allows switching on). Please mind that I have translated above mentioned communications from Polish.

Answer for the question, which I received from Intel(R) Technical Support:

When you install drivers, you should Right-click the EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator".

You should also temporarily disable your security software or reconfigure it to allow the system file.
Spyware removal tools such as AdAware and Spybot (or the spyware tool in your Internet Security package) may be blocking the system file.

My Toshiba A200 got a little slow web browsing last night.
I closed the open programs and tried Ctrl, Alt,Del, nothing happened, I tried it several more time, still to no effect (my pc always brings up task manager instantly after pressing these buttons)

I turned the computer off as to turn it back on again, as my attempts to resume normal browsing had failed.
When I turned it back on, it was very slow, it took ages to get past the"Toshiba, Leading Innovation "screen that always comes up.

After that, a white screen with a tiny white dash in the top left corner appears, and that's all I could be bothered to wait for.
Pressing F2 and F12 also do nothing at the Toshiba start up screen (they bring up set up and boot selection menu)

Also there appears to be a slight knocking / rubbing noise now which I never had before from the laptop.

Randomly last night, after button presses, a black screen came up with continual white scrolling letters, I can't remember much but some key words were something along the lines of

" Media ROM test cable " or something like that, over and over.

Answer:Satellite A200 booting issue - Media ROM test cable

Hi!

This sounds like a faulty HDD and some noise that you said are caused from a faulty HDD.
You can test your HDD with the Drive Fitness Test (Google is your friend) but this is only possible if the laptop doesn?t hang on the Toshiba screen (must boot from CD/DVD).

However, if you have an other HDD try this because I?m pretty sure that?s the HDD.

I have two Toshiba Laptops, one for work (A200-1A9) the other for home (A100-338), both have the same problem with reading SD cards from the internal reader.

Most of the time when I insert an SD card (varing sizes 256MB, 512MB, 2GB) the laptops request the driver disks. This is VERY frustrating as the Readers are standard build within these models. What makes this worse is the fact that every now and then, there is a card that can be read by both machines. If it reads on one, it reads on the other. Always the same cards never changes. Therefore, if the reader IS able to read SD cards without Drivers why is it that it demands Drivers for others. Drivers that are not provided, don't seem to exist and altermately mean that I just can't use those cards.

I just don't get why it is a problem.

There must be an answer out there, I hope that someone reading this Post knows it and is willing to share. Thanks!

Answer:Strange issue with SD Card reader on my Satellite A200-1A9 & A100-338

There is no problem with the card reader and you don't need drivers for it. What exactly does it look for drivers for what? It is strange that you say that sometimes it can be read and sometimes not... There are no drivers for the cardreader you can download, so it should work. Look carefully if the card has a lock switch. I had problems reading a card when the switch was turned to lock. Hope you'll solve it.

Hi all.

I need help and something for my headache... :D

Today I were looking to the updates zone and see a newer version for the Flashcard, so I donwloaded it and install, but now begin the problems...

when the setup starts it says that must uninstall the older version,so ok I accept, then restart and exec the flashcards setup again, but now I get "The serial number is invalid" error. I come here looking for a solution and read that I must reinstall the VAP (I had installed the vap-20080109135106 version).

Before the error windows comes up, a DOS window opens and closes automatically with this line command message : "connected to ROOT\CIMV2 namespace", then the error comes :S

So again I uninstall the VAP, restart, clean with ccleaner, restart, install the VAP again, restart, install the newer Flashcards and....surprise....again the same error.... The serial number is invalid

I tried again all the steps and get the error another time more.

For the third try I just install the VAP and saw that the included flashcards were installed and working....but not so easy.... they don't works when pressing the FN+Fx combination only work if I move the mouse over them...... exactly the only combinations working are the FN+F10 & FN+F11.

The FN key works, because as I told before two combinations works and the green light when pressing it blinks ok.

Hi there,

I bought a Toshiba A200 (PSAF6A Model) back in January, and it's been plagued with problems ever since:
-Can no longer burn DVD's (It fails @ around 50%, no matter what software is used)
-Multiple dead pixels on screen
-Overheats when playing games (I have bought an external cooling pad)
-Now, all the fans have died inside the laptop! It overheats within the first 10 minutes of booting the laptop!

Now, to me, It seems like the motherboard may have started to die.

What I'd quite like to know is if it's going to be replaced with so many problems if I take it in for service? (I have booked a pickup for today)
Or are they just going to try and fix each problem?

Hi,

Have bought a Toshiba Satellite A200 recently, with a HD2600. Since I cannot find an APA Support Forum, I hope that somebody can help me here.

I have the following issue.
I am using an other manufacturer AL2216W (the only driver available is for XP, which I installed on Vista Ultimate without problems) 22' widescreen.

The monitor is capable of displaying 1680x1050 (60Hz). If I connect it to the laptop's analog port, I can select the resolution, and it works fine.

If I connect it to the HDMI port (via a DVI-D to HDMI adapter cable) on my laptop, the highest resolution is only 1440x900. I already installed the drivers several times, but in Digital mode it doesn't show the 1680 resolutuion.

The strange thing is that the monitor is correctly identified with the 1680x1050 resolution.

I am using the Extended Display option, since I want to use both displays.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A200-PSAF6A Vista: HDMI video resolution issue

Really strange. Have you tried to connect your TFT to another device?
Or check if it is the same problem, when you don't use extended display option and just use your TFT for display.

Have you installed the latest graphic card drivers? Had this issue too, with my desktop pc and a NVIDIA graphic card.
With analog signal, no prob, with dvi connection unsharp screen, but showed correct resolution. New driver version fixed this.

Can you add some customized resolutions? For my problem this was a kind of a work-around.

Hi

Did you install the right BIOS for the right OS?
You should know that Vista uses an different BIOS as the Windows XP!

Anyway, did you try to reinstall this Toshiba Flash Card Utility?
Please do this.

Firstly you should reinstall the Toshiba Common Modules and then the Flash Card Utility. Both programs can be found in the Toshiba Value added package.

Bye
