Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number of Satellite A215-S7428

Question: Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number of Satellite A215-S7428

Odd issue. Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number. Has anyone encounted that? I assume alpha characters are upper case. Serial number is 9 characters long with alpha characters at either end of string.
Has anyone had problems registering their laptops?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number of Satellite A215-S7428

Wait a moment my friend. On which Toshiba website you try to do this? I hope you do not try to register non-European notebook model on European support page.

Am I right or you really try to do this? As far as I know you have an US notebook model.

So i had to replace someone else's laptop hard drive, and installed XP Home because the person had XP reinstall discs. Anyway, I'm lost about installing the drivers for it. I found a pack of drivers that were supposed to be for it, but i don't know how to install it. It can't access the internet either, so i'm reduced to downloading the drives on THIS computer and transferring them via thumb drive.I downloaded the pack here, and have NO clue on how to install it.I found another set of drivers, but i'm skeptical about it. I found that pack here. What should I do?

When I plug my mic into my mic port the open a program that uses a mic, like sound recorder, my computer becomes unresponcive, frozen. The only way to end this is to shut down my PC. I have tried this on many different programs and they all dont work. It is a Satellite A215-S7428.

How do I solve this problem? Does anyone know the email for toshiba computer support. My phone is not working. How do I determine the manufacter of the sound card, I know that toshiba only assemblies the computer, they dont make there own parts.

Answer:Satellite A215-S7428 freezes when program tries to access the microphone

You can see the sound chip brand/model in Device Manager under Sound, Video, Game Controllers

uninstall the sound utility and driver from Control Panel, and install the latest version from the Toshiba Driver Download site.

Also update the BIOS.

I possess an A200 satellite laptop, and I am not able to find any driver for it on Toshiba site !!
- its serial number (X8172841K) is not recognized , the message is : "Sorry , your product cannot be found" [translated from French]
- the support site cannot detect my laptop model
- none of the drivers that I have downloaded (closest to A200) accept to install

Can u help me ?

S?bastien (France)

Answer:Re: Satellite Serial number not recognized by Toshiba support

If the serial number is not detected by ?Automatic detection? you can find drivers manually.

Maybe you have the same A200 as friend of mine. His notebook has part number PSAE6E.
To find right drivers please visit Toshiba download and support page under > Support & Downloads > Support Homepage and at the bottom you will find link ?Download drivers?.

Go there and choose your notebook model with right short model number.

If you need more help please let me know.

BTW: have you tried to find right drivers on Toshiba France support page?

Ok, I am fully aware of the black screen of death issue, which I have along with everyone else who didn't pay attention when buying this comp, but this morning I tried to turn it on and I get a blinking battery light, but nothing else. I took out the battery and tired with just the AC Adapter plugged in, no blinking light, nothing. With the adapter unplugged and the battery in, I still get the blinking light. So I figured it had to be the adapter. I went out and bought a new adapter, but no dice. Anyone else have this problem? Know any possible way to fix this or what's causing it?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A215 power issue

Bad motherboard... Or broken DC jack. You could try removing the hard drive and see if the notebook posts

my toshiba satellite a215-4697 is too slow how can i fix it?

Answer:my toshiba satellite a215-4697 is too slow

Depends or reasons. For most people the software is borked. Reload it using the owners manual, usually termed a recovery or some such term. It returns it to as bought state. It could still be any number of hardware issues but I'd try the reload. Might boot to the vista dvd and use the memory diagnostics just to be sure. 1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I have removed the battery and unplugged the AC adap and then replaced the battery and still nothing.

Using Vista. Any suggestions? Thank you

Answer:Toshiba laptop Satellite A215 won't start

I had a Satellite in for repair a few months back with the same symptoms and to be honest I did not have a clue what was causing it.
I decided to strip it down to basics and discovered it was the cd/dvd drive that was causing the problem, replaced it and all was good again.
I am not saying this is your problem but it is quite easy to test, the drive is held by two screws and then simply pulled out

I had a thread back in January about this. Laptop, got it around that time, Vista... nightmare. I've ran Vista successfully on several machines but this laptop just doesn't like it. It locks up, freezes, blah blah... but XP is a dream. And this thing is packin 2gb RAM + 1.8ghz dual core AMD, so it's not like it's "bad".

Anyway, the drivers. I tracked down a good chunk of them, but I still have 3 yellow splats *Base System Device* and SM Bus Controller.

SM Bus Controller = Chipset. Right?

I installed it. Successfully. Yet it's still asking me where the **** the driver is.

And please, don't direct me to Toshiba. I've spent hours on their site looking for drivers. I just can't find the ones I need.

Any input?

I bought my Toshiba Satellite A210/A215 laptop about 8 months ago. It suddenly started having problems recently. First, it would suddenly crash without warning, no matter what i did. Then after a while even touching it the wrong way would make it crash. I let it sit for a bit and now when I try to turn it on, the lights will indicate its on and plugged in, but there's nothing appearing on the screen. ok...i hope i am even using the correct terminology here. i purchased this computer 36 days ago. 6 days passed the return policy, otherwise bestbuy would be eating this thing hard and fast through their teeth!

first. i noticed when i was looking at the screen that tells you what the MB and GB that there was a slight discrepency...and i know so little about computers there may be a perfectly reasonible explanation. anyway. the laptop says i have 182 GB, but i should have 200. is this a non-issue?

but the real problem is this. i will be emailing/searching/watching a video that i have downloaded/playing a get the point....and one of two things will happen.

#1--the screen just goes blank. the blue lights on the keyboard indicate the computer remains plugged into outlet, the on light is lit, but the ?processing? light is on...but nothing is happening. it is as if the computer is off. the fan will shut off, and no amount of button pushing changes things. the only way to get anything going again is to shut the computer off manually and then turn it back on. things act normal from there on for quite a while.

#2--this one is a little strange. all of the above takes place only i don't have a blank screen. i get a black screen with vertical grey stripes. it's very dizzying!

the whole thing is a bit on the perplexing side and like i said before....if only i had found the reciept prior to now and if only i had listened to my gut and taken it back ... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Crashes

I am familiar with your computer. Based on what we see in our shop, I suspect the problem may be inadequate memory capacity.
I am sure you didn't mean to report the memory as 182 GB vs 200 GB as that would be an enormous amount.
I suggest you download and run the free Belarc Advisor or Everest Home. Either program will inventory your computer and tell you what working memory it finds.
Tell us what the inventory says.
If you have less than 512 MB, you simply do not have enough memory for that machine. If you have more than 1 GB, then memory is OK, and we must look elsewhere.
Even though your return privilege is up, you still have warranty rights.

But whatever the cause, I would use download AVG Free Antivirus and free antispyware. Then remove the free 90 day version of McAfee Security, using Add and Remove Software in the Control Panel. Once McAfee is removed, install the AVG software. It is free, and very good, and will not abuse resources the way your McAfee does.

Answer:Battery not charging on Toshiba Satellite A215

First you should check if the battery is correctly installed in the battery socket.
If it is, check if the cable is correctly plugged and that nothing is stuck in the cable port. Last, you could check if the cable is broken.

If none of these, i'm sorry, i can't help you.

Answer:Need Satellite C670D-115 serial number and model number

All data you need you can find on Toshiba label placed on the bottom of your notebook. There you can find serial number of your notebook. We cannot say which serial number you have.
Model number is C670D-115 and your notebook belongs to C670D family. All models with D are AMD chipset models.
Part number is PSC4AE- 01100xxx. It depends on country where your notebook was purchased.

That?s all I can say about it.

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and when it first started up I noticed the colors are very dull, compared to my other two computers with 7. The display also seems a little big. I think my native resolution is 1280x1024. But when I go to change the resolution I am only presented with two options. 1024x768 and 800x600. I've looked everywhere on the internet and can't figure it out. Before I upgraded to 7 I was on Vista and I had ATi Catalyst Control Center. But after the switch I did not have that software and I tried to download and install it. Which I did, but there is no actual program to open up like I had before. I just have all of the files in the folders but nothing useful.

There you can see the folders I have in my ATi folder, probably doesn't help much. But there is no cli.exe, ccc.exe, and no MOM.exe. All of the ones I could think of from when I had Vista.

I don't necessarily need Catalyst CC...but I would love to change my resolution because it's kind of blurry and not sharp like I want it to be. Is it possible to just download a random driver or something to take the place of it?

Can somebody please help me. I upgraded my wireless card to an "Intel Wifi Link 5100" Wireless ABGN mini pci-e card. I was able to successfully get all of the drivers installed and hardware recognized. However, according to the Intel Proset Wireless Manager, it states that I need to turn on the physical hardware switch. The problem is...with the new card in place, switching the on/off button doesn't change the status or turn on the LED light.

I found in these forums that for the mini pci (not the mini pci-e) cards, you can actually cover up pins 11 and 13 to make it work. I can't seem to find any information on the pci-e card.

Additional information:Several people have suggested to install the model specific Wireless configuration utility that may be able to turn the hardware switch on. For the Toshiba, I installed Configfree, but it won't turn the switch or LED on.

All device drivers are installed and working properly. For this Toshiba model, there is no wireless enable/disable found in the BIOS either.

I'm hoping that there are certain pins that can be covered in the pci-e card to override the default hardware switch!!! Hopefully somebody out there will know.

Answer:Can't connect toshiba satellite a215 model to internet

and welcome to the Forum

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

How to Remove Stored Wireless Network Profiles for XP, Vista, and Windows 7

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL and press enter.

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

then please Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.

The sound is coming from the left side by the fan and the side vent. It started a few weeks ago and ever since it has been driving me insane. It comes and goes, but when it comes it stays for a while. It kind of sounds like a buzzing noise...but more like something is inside the computer. I can temporarily make the sound stop by pushing down on the plastic, but when I release it it comes right back. I tried tightening the screws on the bottom of the laptop..but it doesnt seem to help.

Also, my computer sucks at streaming videos. It always stops playing and starts right back up a second later, but it's just annoying. It downloads the videos fine, just playing is rough.

Anyone know what could be causing these problems?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A215 making annoying noise

Use a can of air to clean the fans - see if that fixes the noise.

Streaming videos requires a certain bandwidth to stream consistently. So when you download videos, movies, music what is the kb/s that it downloads? My guess is you don't have very fast internet connection speed so you can download stuff fine (slow but fine) and you can't watch streaming videos because it requires a minimum bandwidth to keep up with the video (pausing the movie will allow the download to get ahead of what is being played).

Google speakeasy speed test, run a few of those and let us know your bandwidth speeds.

So I've had my Toshiba Satellite for a couple years now, and I have loved it. After un-installing Vista and putting on XP sp3 on it, I really have had no problems. I have had some nasty viruses, but I've fixed it with either system restore, or Killbox ect. I currently have Desktop Maestro on my Satellite and I love it, has awesome tools like registry scan, system optimization, and keeps my boot times rather fast!
I still have the stock 2 gigs of DDR2 ram, and the 1.8GHz Turion64 X2, video card Radeon X1200 integrated, exc exc.

I dont use my computer for gaming or anything like that, just normal usage. my hard drive (250GB) was about 75% filled with my music, and photos( I am a photographer on the side ) and i will be d4mned if i loose all of it, i will be p1ssing blood

okay, well here is the problem, finally!

I was doing the usual, surfing the web and chatting with people online before going to bed, and I always put my laptop on "sleep" mode when i leave for a while, or go to sleep. I don't turn it off that much, except if i leave for the weekend.

I wake up this morning, flip the open the lid, and its totally greyish white. So I'm like "double you tee eff" and restart it. Once I restart it, 2 seconds later there are colorful vertical lines (and no, i am not on drugs ) then i start to freak out, then restart it again. same thing, different colored lines in different spots. I try it again, and NOTHING happens. alittle "boot"... Read more

Answer:BIG problem with my Toshiba Satellite A215 S4757. Help Needed

Hook it up to an external monitor (borrow one from a friend if you don't have one). That will determind if it is the video card or the monitor that is trashed.

Monitors aren't too hard to replace, they are harder to find, and relatively expensive. If you get lucky you'd be able to find another compatable toshiba that is dead that you could take hte monitor from.

Video cards on the other hand are difficult. Most video cards are integrated on latpops meaning if they go out, you have to purchase a whole new motherboard. This is usually very expesive (usually costs as much as the laptop is worth) and a pain to replace.

Either way you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to be backing up your data. Either on another external USB drive or DVD's. Purchase a large external drive and start backing up to that.

I realize this is probably not a current / hot topic but I have spent hours on this and I am totally stumped. I have an older A215-S5818 Satellite Laptop that I upgraded to 4 gigs of ram, supposed to be able to support Win 7 with an upgrade from Vista or from a custom/raw Win 7 install.

Supposedly also supports 32 and 64bit. I have tried both 32 bit Ultimate and 64bit Ultimate - and although I was able to basically install and operate either on the laptop it seemed I was always running into Windows update issues.

So I thought I would attempt to follow Toshiba's instructions instead of just Installing from a retail CD.
I even upgraded the Bios to the latest 2.00 that is supposed to be the latest or last Bios supporting 32/64 bit Win 7.

After a basic install of either the 32 or 64 bit Win 7, I attempted to use both Toshibas utilities to Install Win 7 Software and Hardware support.
In every single case I get an error that states that my Toshiba Laptop "Was either not manufactured by Toshiba or the Rom does not support Windows 7" - Totally wierd!?

Anybody seen anything like this. And the Rom is specifically for Windows 7.

I even downgraded the Rom to version 1.90 that although not latest still supposedly supported Windows 7.
Still get the same error? Any ideas... how would a utility with hardware addressing calls not think it was a Toshiba computer and why would it think the Rom didn't support Windows 7 when they both were specifically for Window... Read more

Okay, First off I'd like to once again thank everyone who tried to help out on my last post.
I was unsuccessful at getting the HP to work...but to my surprise two days ago I received a small late birthday present! It's a brand new Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop. I think it's great and all, but the Vista OS is killing me! I've tried everything I can to speed it up, but no matter what i do my programs lag, the startups and shutdowns take TOO long...I've have done it all, registry defrags, disk defrags, cleanups, optimizations, set it up for best performance, the works...and still this Vista OS sucks...

I was wondering if and how I could ditch the vista OS, and downgrade back to XP on this laptop...

Any help with be greatly appreciated

Laptop running Vista abruptly developed a password requirement - it was just a light blue screen with a box to input a password.  Everything I entered was wrong, and attempting to start the Satellite by tapping F8 or with a Vista disc brought up that same screen.I bit of internet investigation showed that Toshiba laptops can be prone to this behavior, and that there's not much to be done other than resetting the BIOS.  I started stripping down the laptop and got frustrated when I finally saw that the CMOS battery was soldered to the motherboard without a pin connection that could be unplugged.  I soldiered on and saw many webpages that instructed people with a method to short out the BIOS using a jumper.I unplugged the laptop, removed the battery, HDD, and memory, and used a pair of needle nose pliers to touch this area under the RAM while simultaneously touching a metal bar.  I plugged in the laptop and turned it on while continuing to make contact, holding it for about 30 seconds.I unplugged, reconnected the RAM, the HDD, the battery and the power cord, turned it on and was prepared to be amazed.Instead I got nothing.  No video at all.  The machine DID turn on - I could see the proper lights turned on, and the fan was whirring, but no video or sound.I then connected the laptop to an external monitor.  Nothing.  I pressed the proper keys (fn + F5) to toggle between the laptop display and the monitor.  Nothing. Is there anythin... Dear All,

I have problem with my Satellite A215-S7422 (AMD)
I bought this unit included Windows Vista Home Premium+Recovery Disc inside the package.
I really enjoy the fitures of Vista, amazing !!!
But some programs I've had didn't support for Vista. That's a pity for me.
So, I tried to make new partition than installed Windows XP SP2.
The problem is my Vista wasn't appeared anymore.
So I tried to get back my Vista using my recovery disc. But unfortunately it didn't work at all.

Questions :
1. Can CD recovery didn't work if we split Harddrive (make some partitions) ?
2. My recovery disc file is .tib, so I try using Acronis Image, while I operating this program my notebook didn't detect DVD Drive. Than I try to copy the all file for both of Recovery Disc to empty partition, I can see the .tib file but it didn't work also. Can you explain what probably causes ?
3. If I format all drives than make it one drive, can Recovery Disc works?

Please do me a favour for this
Your assist will be appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A215-S7422 some questions regarding Toshiba Recovery disk

I?m not quite sure how it works on US series but I think it?s not very different to EU series.

1) No, you cannot split the HDD using the Recovery disk. The recovery disk will format the whole HDD and will create the partitions like at the beginning.
2) I doubt you can burn it using other 3rd party programs. Toshiba has installed Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator which should be used to burn the Recovery disk
3) As I said in point 1 -> Recovery disk will format the whole HDD. It?s no matter how many partitions are created on HDD. Everything will be erased

Hello, I am trying to fix a problem with my trackpoint and click buttons on my T450, but the lenovo website will not recognise my serial number. When I input the serial number it says it does not exist, and when I click the option to automatically detect the S/N number the website reloads as it was with no result. I know my serial number is valid as input because the 3rd party website that handles on-site support recognises the serial number, however I am hoping not to have to call out this support and use the software support that is meant to be provided.

My internet connection is sporadic AT BEST. I have a LyncSys wireless modem for which the internet works perfectly for every other computer in the house. I always get 4 out of 5 bars of reception quality for the wireless connection. When I open a new IE connection, it takes forever for the webpage to open. When I'm connected to the internet, then switch to a new site the thing churns and churns. Sometimes it never stops churning, then other times I get a message that says something that indicates internet connection lost. When I am connected, it runs excruciatingly slooow. I had a prof. computer technician look at it. He didn't see anything obviously wrong. No spyware, no malware, no viruses. I then took my laptop to Office Depot and they ran a series of diagnostics as well and gave me the same exact report. However, there's obviously "something" wrong. Any help provided would be MUCH APPRECIATED !!!!

I would certainly appreciate if anyone can share a download link or a torrent file for the *Toshiba Recovery Discs*

By the way, here's a [photo of my *+blank+ Recovery Discs*| iscs_122_881lo.jpg]

Answer:Re: Links for Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 Recovery Disc Images

Hello alibaba

At first I must say that I know for sure that Toshiba does not offer link for recovery images download. If you want to have recovery CD/DVD for your notebook you must buy it.
The CDs shown on the picture are really strange. it does not look like original Toshiba recovery CD/DVD but like some self made recovery media. See just the print. I am really confused about it.

Original Toshiba recovery media looks like this one . Can you see the difference? Of course on this picture you can see recovery media for European market but I cannot imagine there is big difference for other not European countries.

Can you please tell me who gives you those CDs?

Dear Sirs,

I install Vista Business to my A200-1AE (originaly it was Home Primium). I install all drivers exept TOSHIBA Hardware Setup Utility . Then i try to install it is says "the serial number is invalid"

Can some one help how to install it and what can be a problem?

Answer:Sat A200-1AE: Toshiba Hardware Utility - "the serial number is invalid"

From my knowledge this error message could appears due to different reasons.
First of all such error appears using an applications which was not designed especially for this notebook series.
The Satellite A200-1AE belongs to the PSAECE series. Did you download the tools and drivers for this series?

Please check this!

Secondly the ?invalid serial number? error appears if the wrong DMI information was stored on the system board.
This could happen for example if an technician has not updated the DMI after an motherboard replacement.

Last but not least it?s possible that you have no installed all the driver and applications in the right order.
You have to check the installation instruction txt file and should install the drivers in the order mentioned in this file.

Good luck

This model (13J) is the government-sponsored student edition used by thousands of Greek pupils and is not listed in the Support downloads.

I made a new partition and installed XP SP3 Pro, in addition to the standard XP Home. I downloaded all the drivers for the model number printed on the sticker (PLL25E-00401WMG, which I assume corresponds to NB200-122 in the Driver Downloads).

Most of the important Toshiba utilities (Hardware Setup, Hotkey, Value Added Logical Device) terminate with the error "Wrong serial number".

Given that the Toshiba utilities work fine in the standard (old) installation,

1. Is there a way to bypass the serial number checking for the installation of Toshiba utilities?

2. Are there specific Toshiba downloads for NB200-13J ?

Answer:"Invalid serial number" when installing Toshiba utilities on NB200-13J

I did some reading since my previous post. It seems that in the 2nd XP installation the Toshiba utilities can't read the DMI information stored in the EEPROM, containing unit model and serial. This is evidenced by the fact that the Toshiba PC Diagnostics Utility reports "Unknown" for the serial, model etc.

Therefore a third question emerges, what is missing from the new XP installation that allows reading the DMI info? I guess I have to investigate all the services running in the original XP installation, but my bet is that the utilities that install these services are not publicly available.

The very same utilities install perfectly fine under Windows 7 (yes, I made another partition and installed Windows 7 there). This means that either Win7 has in-built tools reporting DMI information, or that the Toshiba 7 installers don't check for it.

Still hoping for some clues from the community.

i check hardware manager and i find it's "unknown device".

i try to reinstall the driver in many different ways, but it just doesn't work for my laptop.

i need it to connect to router console.

the only possible way to fix it for me is to format the computer and do the first installation
but that's NOT a technician should do. the cable comes with driver. i also download different one on the web. but it's basically the same. the driver name is "PL2303 USB-Serial Driver"

i also try it in other PC and it's the same(unknown device).

do you have any suggestion?

In some cells I have the format: $ 47,000+. Other cells have $47,000.

So I extract the 47,000 part using this formula:

=IF(ISBLANK(A1),"",IF(RIGHT(A1)="+",MID(A1,(FIND(" ",A1)+1),LEN(A1)-3),A1)).

When the source cell has $ 47,000+, I end up with 47,000 is the desination cell. But Excel does not recognize it as a number when I try to format it or use it in another formula.

Normally on the bottom side of the notebook you can find a sticker with the serial number of the notebook, model number, etc.

If not you can start TOSHIBA PC Diagnostic Tool to identify the serial number. It should be preinstalled on your computer.

You can get all spare parts from an authorized service provider in your country. Just contact the guys. ;)

I?ll be grateful for some help or advice.

Answer:Satellite L70-B-126 Serial number for windows 8.1

Toshiba does not provide any serial keys for system activation.
The preinstalled system is part of the Toshiba image and its activate or will be activated during first internet connection.

You can and you should create the Toshiba Recovery medium using preinstalled software called Toshiba Recovery Medium creator.

This medium (disk or USB flash memory) allows you to set the notebook back to factory settings….

Or serials is ok for Satellite but no parelles ?

Answer:Satellite M60 recognize the serial converet but not anything else, why?

I don't quite get what you exactly want to know. All I can tell you is, that Windows will recognize the serial-parallel converter, but not the parallel cable itself, as it is no active component.

You will have to connect it to a device like a printer or something like that. Sometimes those converters need specific drivers. Have you checked that they are installed properly?

I express my shock that the important information on the back of my laptop has almost completely rubbed off after only four days use, inc. serial number, voltage/ampage, model no., etc. I purchased a toshiba laptop on the premise that their laptops were reliable relative to the rest. It does not bode well when something as simple as a serial number rubs off after such a short period.

Getting to the point, is this information important for warranty/returns situations? Hopefully not. However, even if not, is there anywhere else on the laptop where this information is listed?

This is Toshiba issue and I can imagine there is some problem with their database.

The ink on the silver toshiba serial no./model no. panel on the back of my laptop rubbed off after only a week of use when i bought the pc last year. It is still under warranty. Unless anyone can tell me of a possible reason for this[anyone?] then I guess I should probably send it in for repairs.

Answer:Satellite L300-21F - Where can I find the serial number?

I?m really wondering that you can?t read the serial number on the bottom side anymore after one week only? Where do you use the notebook?

Anyway, I have Satellite L300 too with Windows XP preinstalled. If I start Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tools I can view all details about my notebook and also see the serial number.
Check this!!!

Hi everybody

I need some help. I have a Satellite Pro L300 with Windows Vista Basic.
A couple of days ago I've downloaded TEMPO 2.0. But this version rejects to confirm a serial number of laptop.

I'm sure I insert the number correctly.
On the page I can see information about my laptop so serial number is correct.
But on the page of registration I can't fill out serial number because a interactive form rejects to take it.

It says <Please insert correct number>.

Previos version of TEMPO worked well.
What can I do about this problem?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite Pro L300 - TEMPO 2.0 rejects serial number

Are you sure you have not mixed some letters, numbers?
Maybe you have inserted a model number instead of serial number?
Anyway?. I?m asking myself if this is really important to you?
I mean the notebook is running trouble free and the Tempro would send you a notification if a new driver update uploaded has been made.

But to be honest I?m not using this tool anymore. I don?t need to update the drivers always because new update has been published?. Of course I would do this if something would be wrong with my notebook but since my notebook is ruining trouble free I don?t run any driver updates? (of course I update my OS always)

Hello guys and girls. I have such a problem.
I have reinstalled Windows Vista on my Satellite A350D and the serial number that is on the sticker on the back of laptop is invalid.

Everything was ok when I reinstalled Vista 7 month ago.
I had XP for half a year and now i need Vista but serial number is invalid.

Tried to contact Microsoft but they replied that i should contact laptops OEM (Toshiba) as windows were pre-installed.
So the problem is that i cant find any support email that I could write to. Only fax or phone numbers and only in USA.

Can anyone help me? maybe you know any email that I can try to contact with my issue?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A350D - Windows Serial number replacement

Hi mate

The windows serial number key which can be found at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled Windows OEM version!
It will NOT work with other Windows versions!!!!!

If you want to use another windows version then you have to purchase the Windows OS from Microsoft.

The Toshiba Recovery disk were the preinstalled windows OS is placed is already activated and you don?t the serial key !

A friend ask me to format his laptop computer.
I'm not able to get into the windows vista.
I tried to use the recuperation partition without success and I don't have the recuperation dvd.

So I have decided to format windows Vista but the serial number under the laptop was erased...
Could I found the serial number elsewhere ?

Answer:Satellite L300-1DN - Cannot Recover due to missing serial number

The serial key which is placed at the bottom of the unit cannot be used in connection with other Windows Vista!
The key belongs to the preinstalled Vista OEM version!!!

The notebook was preinstalled with Vista and this Vista was already activated! Therefore a key is not necessary!
Furthermore there was a preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery disk creator. This tool allowed you to create a own recovery disk!
I assume you friend of mine didn?t know this and didn?t create a recovery disk?
This was a big mistake!

Anyway? you can order a recovery disk from here:

I am supposed to have microsoft office 10 installed on Satellie C660 but keeps asking for number which my serial number doesn't work, used 3months free trial now can't find the original software.

Please help.

Answer:Satellite C660 - Microsoft Office asks for serial number

The preinstalled Office version is just a trial version as you wrote. If you want to use Office after this trial version you have to purchase it.

The key on bottom side of your notebook belongs to preinstalled Windows version and has nothing to do with Office.

You have to purchase it ;)

I have Satellite P10-874, my model number got erased from the bottom after years of use.
I recently did a Bios update from Toshiba website and later realised it was for SP10E models.

Well my system didn't crash. Does the model number (part no) change if you update with a Bios version not meant for your system?

My system is still under warranty but the new model number/serial number combo is shown as invalid global entitlement database. My USB ports are not working any more after it showed a power surge message.

I need goto the service center. Is there any way to retrive my originial model no and part no?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite P10-874: Does wrong BIOS update change the serial number?

A "wrong" Biosupdate neither erases nor replaces the modelnumber of your machine. So you don?t have to worry about when you give the machine to a sevice center, they have the possibility to retrieve your serialnumber with their system and figure out the modelnumber of your machine.

Regarding your USB-ports: send the machine to your local service-center and don?t worry about the modelnumber-stuff. Your machine is still in warranty and since they will approximately change your system pcb, your worries about the wrong bios is needless.

By the way, i cannot imagine that you have earnest a wrong bios flashed, since the machine during the biosupdate ususally shouts if you try to flash a wrong bios on it.

my SATELLITE A100-311/PSAA9E-11L047GR was to a warranty repair by a service partner from Toshiba.
They said that they changed the systemboard. The reason was, that it didn't boot the Bios (5.20), what is actually on the board, too.
My problem is that I want to update the VirtualSound driver, but the installation routine aborts with the message, that my Toshiba notebook doesn't support any VirtualSound. It was even preinstalled, as I bought it...
So I was going on to check the typ of systemboard that they installed. I used the Toshiba tool which shows any kind of hardware, driver etc. that exist.
I realised that the expected PSAA9E-11L047GR nr. is now a PSB10U-SA10ES1. Also the serialnumber is like a standard: "12345678901234567" and not my real serialnumber. If I'm going to search for any driver, bios or s.e. on base of this notation of course there is no suitably entry.
I get in touch with the service engineer and he insures me that they replaced the board with the same kind of board and wrote the correct "DMI" (?) on the new board. His answer was that I should execute the recovery procedure, but I disbelieve that this will change anything.

My questions are:
What is that, that the system shows me such a serial and PA-Number?
Can I trust the service engineer that the label below the notebook is beyond significant for me, f.ex. by doing updates?
And why comes the message that my Toshiba notebook doesn't support any VirtualSound?

Th... Read more

Answer:Satellite A100-311 changed PA-Number / Serial & VirtualSound prob. after repair

The DMI information is stored on the system board and the DMI string contains, among other items, the model number of the system.
If the number is wrong and does not match with the recovery CD then you will be not able to install the recovery CD.

So I would recommend using your old recovery CD. If it will not work you can contact the ASP guys again and report them this problem?

Hi all.

I need help and something for my headache... :D

Today I were looking to the updates zone and see a newer version for the Flashcard, so I donwloaded it and install, but now begin the problems...

when the setup starts it says that must uninstall the older version,so ok I accept, then restart and exec the flashcards setup again, but now I get "The serial number is invalid" error. I come here looking for a solution and read that I must reinstall the VAP (I had installed the vap-20080109135106 version).

Before the error windows comes up, a DOS window opens and closes automatically with this line command message : "connected to ROOT\CIMV2 namespace", then the error comes :S

So again I uninstall the VAP, restart, clean with ccleaner, restart, install the VAP again, restart, install the newer Flashcards and....surprise....again the same error.... The serial number is invalid

I tried again all the steps and get the error another time more.

For the third try I just install the VAP and saw that the included flashcards were installed and working....but not so easy.... they don't works when pressing the FN+Fx combination only work if I move the mouse over them...... exactly the only combinations working are the FN+F10 & FN+F11.

The FN key works, because as I told before two combinations works and the green light when pressing it blinks ok.

So now I have a flashcards VAP ones (not the last update) that only works with mouse ... Read more

this is my first post here and I may have ended up in error and I'm in the wrong place for what I'm seeking, as I looked around I did search well before posting.
I need a way to "generate serial numbers" and "part numbers" for computers that I have built and computers that I am building.
Now if this means that I need to learn how to create my own program to do this, I'm willing to learn and if this is or will be the best way for me to get and have a "serial number" and "part number" generator, so be it.
Also if I'm not mistaken the "serial number" and "part number" as well as the "manufacture name" are encoded or should I say written in to the bios? That is if, the "serial number" and "Part number" are normally written in to the bios, if so Would I have to Edit the bios? Once I have built the computer.
As of right now it states "To be filled in by OEM" with NO "serial number" or "Part number" Now If this is not the case, then how should I or would I go about correcting this?
I was hoping that I may find someone here that could help in answering this, how do I give the computer it's name, how do I give it a Part number, how do I give it a serial number, that can not be changed by the end user?
That is once I have generated the serial number and part number. And how would I go about doing this in the best way, or easiest way? Or is there a way to d... Read more

Answer:Serial/Part Number Generator, Naming a built PC, Giving it a serial/part number

You are talking about factory built computers using OEM motherboards, not self-built computers. There is no need to edit the BIOS for self-built - unless you just want to.
I use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the computers I build.

I cannot find the Windows 10 product Key on my Toshiba Notebook. Where is the sticker? On my notebook or elsewhere? Thank you for your answers in advance

Answer:Cannot find Windows 10 serial key on Toshiba Satellite C50-C-1JL

Windows 8 PCs now embed their product keys in the BIOS.

In the past, a new Windows PC would display its product key on a sticker, usually on the side of a desktop and on the base or the bottom of the battery compartment on a laptop. But with Windows 8, Microsoft has switched gears and now stores and encrypts the key in the BIOS instead.

Guess its the same for Win 10.

I've seen an HP laptop running Win 10 that doesn't have said sticker either.

Settings /Update & Security/Activation to display key onscreen.

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 PSAE6E: Cannot install Flash Cards - invalid serial number

In most cases the invalid serial number error message occurs if you try to install a utility which has been not created for this notebook series.
You should check if you have downloaded the right tool.

But one question; Do you use the Vista BIOS version?
At this time Toshiba European driver page provides the 2.60 Win Vista BIOS.
Please check this!

Furthermore before you would try to install the Flash cards you should install the VAP. The value added package contains necessary tools and this should be installed firstly before Flash cards installation.

I have exactly the same problem, when I try to install the toshiba hardware setup version 1.48.09.C on my Satellite A200 (Windows Vista service pack 1) I have the message "le numero de serie est incorrect".

Have you today a solution to resolve this problem ? (In the list of the installed programs, i have no more "Toshiba hardware setup").

Mostly this error message appears if you tried to install software which was not designed for this notebook model or which is not fully compatible with the notebook series.

I have a Satellite A200 model PSAFCA that I have recently re-installed Vista Ultimate on.

I have downloaded all the latest drivers & utilities from Toshiba NZ (country of purchase), however the following utilities fail to install due to a "Invalid Serial Number" message:

*Toshiba Hardware Setup Utility*
*Toshiba Flash Card Support Utility*
*Toshiba Speech System*

Any suggestions?

Answer:Satellite A200 PSAFCA - Invalid Serial Number installing system tools

Has the laptop been serviced before? (For example a Mainboard replacement)

Maybe the Service Center didn't update the DMI information.

Do you have the "Start->StartMenu->Toshiba->Utilities->PC Diagnostic Tool" installed? That can tell you the Serial number.
If not, you can download and run CrystalDMI to view the S/N (Google is your friend)

ps. Make sure you have installed the Toshiba Value Added Package. This is a vital component that is required to install many other Toshiba utilities.

but toshiba website's database is not recognising it. i tried the above serial no. here>> .

can anyone help me please.

Answer:I cannot find model and serial no. of my Satellite A200 from this website

The question is what you want to do exactly.
All info you need you get it on the Toshiba sticker at the bottom.

I can imagine you want to check download page. Your notebook model is listed there.
Go to Toshiba download page under and there you can find it.

Hi I hope someone can help.
A friend downloaded some video of me on a Toshiba MK8032gsx portable hard drive. We checked to make sure the video was there before he gave it to me.
My computer sees it as removable disk F, and says the device is working properly. However, I can't open anything on it. When I click on it in the Computer Window, it scans (the green line appears at the top, but doesn't complete).
I tried searching online for a driver update, but the computer said the driver was up to date.
Any ideas?
