Brand new Satellite C70D-B-10U wants a password?

Question: Brand new Satellite C70D-B-10U wants a password?

Hello,

I picked up a brand new c70d-b-10u today from a well known retailer.
I turned it on, set the language, gave a computer name, hooked up to a wi fi and then it asked for Other User Password!

I never entered a password to start with so why is it asking for one?

I cannot get to the shop again until next week and urgently need to get up and running.

Any ideas greatly received.

Preferred Solution: Brand new Satellite C70D-B-10U wants a password?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Brand new Satellite C70D-B-10U wants a password?

Try to recover the notebook once again using the HDD recovery option.
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

The recovery procedure would reset the notebook back to factory settings… usually after that no passwords should be set…

Hi,

I am new to this forum and purchased a Satellite C70D yesterday.
I went thru set up, It asked me for my email and password.

I entered this and the next time I logged in there was my hotmail profile photo.
I entered my password - no problem. I changed the language from Spanish to English etc etc.

I switched it on this morning and got the Toshiba Logo - then it went to blank screen and there was a large data entry box asking me for a password. I tried the same one and I get another screen showing a red data entry box saying "VERIFY ERROR!! Please reenter to continue!!

HELP!!

Can anyone help me please. I am operating windows 8.1

Thanks

Eric

Answer:Satellite C70D asks me for my email and password

I think I must be in the operating system as there is no need to click on the box to enter a password!!

Good evening,

I'm sorry to disturb,
but I find myself in a situation to which I find no solution,
that's why I come here asking for some help.

A friend has just purchased the following laptop:
- Satellite C70D-B-307

but the worry is that apparently it is impossible to have access to the HDD recovery to execute the factory restoration.
I try all possible solutions that I find on the web and none of it works.

what to do ?

does Toshiba sell the recovery DVDs that will restore the computer to its factory state?

Thank you very much .

Hello,
Just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as far as I know until know), except boot from DVD. I disabled in the bios the Secure Boot and changed the boot order to DVD first, then USB and then HDD. The DVD drive starts, but then it skips to the HDD and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so that is not the problem.
I would like to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Anyone solved this problem already?

Answer:Satellite C70D - How to boot from DVD

Update: changing from UEFI to CMS in the BIOS Advanced tab makes it possible to boot from DVD, but Windows won't boot anymore.... Is there any possibility to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

Hello everybody,
the Toshiba Sat C70D-B-317 (PSCLEE01L009FR) is on it's way and I don't have it for the moment but I would like to know if there is a way to add some Ram to this machine without opening everything?
Also, is it possible to change the HD in the future in the same conditions?

sorry, but it's my first PC laptop and as a Mac user I'm completely lost with all these models and different serial numbers.

I thank you in advance for your answer.

Thierry

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-317 - Ram upgrade

1. yes you can upgrade your RAM, This laptop has 2 slots with one 4GB standard so if you would you can put one more 4GB. With 2x4 you have Dual-channel and that works much faster than single

I don't know if your HDD can e upgraded. When it's not possible you can always buy a external HDD

I hope i helped you

I'm looking for a new display for my Toshiba Satellite C70D-A-11K!

Please help!

Answer:Need new display for my Satellite C70D-A

Hi

The Satellite C70D-A-11K was equipped with the 17.3" LED color LCD panel with the supporting max resolution of 1600 x 900 px
You should be able to order such display panel from local Toshiba authorized service provider or you could check some 3rd part online dealers who provide compatible notebook parts…

As I mention above: you should look for the 17.3" panels.

Thanks

Answer:Need some drivers for my Satellite C70D-B-10U

According notebook specification your machine was delivered with preinstalled Win8.1 64BIT ML.
Original preinstalled version is perfectly configured with all necessary drivers.

The question is: what are you doing with your machine?
Do you try to use some older Windows version?

I have a C70D-A-107 and want to speed up this notebook. Already placed 4gb extra memory so the notebook has now 8gb internal. I doubt whether it is usefull to put in 2x8gb. I think the processor is just to slow. It has a AMD E1-2100 inside. Is it possible to put in another (faster) processor?

Answer:Speed-up Satellite C70D-A-107

The Satellite C70D-A-107 was equipped with an AMD Essentials E1-2100 Accelerated CPU (1,00 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache)
It’s not the fastest CPU therefore the notebook performance isn’t the best…

But CPU upgrade isn’t officially supported by notebook manufacturer... therefore I don’t think that you will be able to upgrade the CPU…

I read about successful Intel CPU upgrades but did not meet anyone who was able to perform an upgrade with an AMD CPU

My wive purchase this computer coupple of months ago. It was from the beginning ferry slow on windows 8
The wurst laptop we ever had. We feel robbed of our money.

2 months ago we started with Ubuntu. It Still slow. IS there anybody with the same problems?

Greetings

Marco

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-108 is very slow

Hi Marco

I don't have this notebook model and cannot confirm what you wrote but fact is that almost all new notebooks are pretty slow at the beginning. Many applications are set to start with Windows and this, of course, slows down boot time.
Windows updates are also set to automatic so in the background the machine will download and install many updates so this will slow down your machine rapidly.

In my opinion you should install original OS that you got with this machine and optimize it a bit.
Remove all useless stuff, change start-up option and disable automatic Windows updates.
In the past I have noticed that original preinstalled antivirus is also responsible for notebook?s performance so I don't use original preinstalled application but my own version of Avir Antivir and it runs perfectly.

Check all these options and I hope your machine will run much better than before.

My question is in the subject line. If anyone has done this I would appreciate some tips.

Answer:Can I replace the HDD in my Satellite C70D-B -00P model with an SSD?

Generally speaking yes, you can do this but problem is that your notebook model doesn't have HDD cover at the bottom side.
To have full access to the HDD the bottom cover must be removed completely but it should be done by authorized service only.

Of course you can try to do it alone but I?m afraid you may lose the warranty.
If possible contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country, explain the situation and ask for help.

After a regular shutdown I cannot boot the system anymore.
System starts but does not boot.

Referring to the manual (section 6, solutions of problems) I tried to hit [F12] after power on but nothing happened.
Same when hitting [F2].

My impression is that something failed on hard disk drive.
:-(

P.S. system has Win10 installed.

So I bought this laptop a few months ago.
For the past few weeks the Laptop stopped playing sound.
I watched a stream in Chrome.

So actually I should be able to see the sound playing in the mixer.
But I wasn't able to play any sound or get any deflection in the mixer.

Then I installed Speccy and as this administration window popped up a sound was played and it worked.

I have no idea why the sound stopped working and why it started again.
Is someone able to help me?

I am using Windows 8.1

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-11D - no sound, random

The main thing is that you have sound again. It is not easy to say what was wrong there.
Have you installed some updates or anything else that can be responsible for this sound issue?

I have a Satellite C70D-A-114...

i hardly used it because it was slow

so i wanted to sell it

first i wanted to set it back to factory settings

doing that, in that process i seem to have deleted all files

so now i get message no bootable disc etc.

Tried everything, there is simply no recovery file

So where can i find such a file for free? It's just not normal that it is not on the site.

Answer:Need recovery files for my Satellite C70D-A-114

All you can find for free are all drivers, tools and utilities. Original recovery image (software package) is not for free and if you need it you must order recovery disc directly by Toshiba.

You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

By the way: in user’s manuals document is clearly described how you can create recovery installation disc. I’m wondering you didn’t make it in the past.

Hi There,

I have had a Satellite C70D for about 18 months now, but have not used it in the past year as I have been disputing with customer services about the windows licence for the machine as I lost it when I formatted the original hard drive before installing an SSD and they wouldnt send me a copy of it. I have now bitten the bullet and bought a windows 10 licence again. However since building the machine a few days ago, I have been having a couple of issues and as it is now out of warranty, I cannot contact customer support (Who I found unhelpful even when it was in warranty!)

The first issue is when I boot up the machine, occasionally the keyboard will not work, I cannot type the BitLocker pin and I have to remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, this then fixes the issue for a few reboots before it goes again.

The second is that occasionally it will boot up with a red x next to the WiFi symbol, but it detects the WiFi card, usually a reboot fixes this but not always. I have reseated the card and still no avail.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this? The BIOS is up-to-date as are all of the drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi All,

I have an Satellite C70D-A-11D ... when I use once the FN Key to do a Print Screen or use the Screen-Zoom on the Space Key...

I am not able to use the Keynumbers 1 to 4 neither the space Key to enter a space between two words...it always change between the bigger screen solution or the normal solution...

I only can change the FN Key again after change the settings in Display settings and after a reboot...
So I cant use FN without a reset with the F1 to F12 Key use and a reboot...

Normaly the FN Key works only if it is pressed...if not the normal Function of the Keys 1 to 4 or F1 to F12 will work if configured in the settings, or not?

What to do?

Kind regards
J?rgen

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-11D Function Key deactivate after use

First of all you can change between the special function key mode (without pressing FN key) or normal (standard) mode (Hold Fn first to use standard F1-F12 functions.)

This function can be changed in BIOS.
In BIOS go to Advanced -> System configuration

Check this option.

I have 2 issues with my new Satellite C70D-B-32U.
When I put it in sleep mode, it does. But after about 5 minutes, it goes automatically to hibernate. This I don't want. And I don't want to disable hibernate, because I do use it when the laptop is not in use for longer periods. The power settings in control panel do not reflect this behaviour. In the settings, I specified that the laptop should never go to hibernate. Hybrid state is disabled.

And secondly, more importantly. Whenever it goes to hibernate, I can only wake it up with the power button. Not with the (internal) keyboard, not with the usb mouse. I would like an option to wake it from hibernate by pressing any key on the keyboard. In bios power on keyboard is set to on. Is there anything else I can change to have this available?
Actually if issue 1 is solved and the laptop stays in sleep mode, this issue is also solved since from sleep I can wake on a mouseclick which is also fine.

The OS is windows 8.1

I wasn't aware that she bought a laptop untill she called me and said she needs help because she never worked with such a slow computer as this Toshiba.

So my question is

How much logic does Toshiba has? I mean putting 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM ( ok nice for a casual laptop ) doesn't quite fit with a >>1GHz<< processor. for the rest the specs aren't terrible.

My girlfriend bought me a new Toshiba laptop C70D-B-10U (my second Toshiba), it is a good laptop apart from the speakers they are terrible. I didn't want my first post to be a complaint but, Toshiba cut corners when it put the speakers in this series of laptops.

Or have I not set them right has anyone else had this problem, any ideas or solutions thank you.

Answer:Bad Speakers on Satellite C70D-B-10UM

I think your notebook has only small stereo speakers and the sound is not the best. I have Satellite S50-B with Harman/kardon speakers and sound is really good.

You can try to change sound options but if you want to have better sound I’m afraid you need external speakers, Maybe BT speakers.

To be honest I’ve never heard about such touchpad behaviour.
Have you tested all touchpad settings?
If there is option to set all of them on default settings please do this and test functionality again.

Anyway, best hardware test is to reinstall operating system and check touchpad functionality with “factory settings”.

Hi all,

excuse the new thread but I haven't found any answers anywhere online, just speculation and it's for different models.

So I have a C70D-B-10U, running windows 7 64bit pro. When I formatted it and updated everything, it just kept crashing when trying to play back videos on Windows Media Player. I cleaned the inside and replaced thermal paste, updated to even newer drivers, and started using VLC as my default media player. It rarely crashed BUT it always does when I try to start playing games (nothing heavy - League of Legends). Laptop seems to be doing well with memory tests, no faults detected.

I've read that this could be caused by:
Faulty GPUFaulty BatteryFaulty PSUBad Capacitors on the MOBO

Has anyone had any similar experience? I've reinstalled Windows and it's the same story. If it's a motherboard issue, I guess it would be better to just get a new one?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-10U no warning crash (power, GPU or capacitors)

Update: I decided to test the RAM and it seems like it can't handle 8GB. Both 4GB sticks work on any slot, but when I have all of it on the machine it crashes. Do you think it is a motherboard issue?

Hi there,

I was bought the above model of laptop for an early Christmas present which usually sits down in the living room, my old Satellite Pro sat down there with no issues however with this device the wireless signal is very low and I appear to be having it sitting right next to the wireless router (which is located upstairs in my sons bedroom), I wondered if there's any steps I could take to improve the signal?

It baffles me how a new system has such a poor wireless signal when my old Satellite Pro which was 6 years old had no wireless issues whatsoever.

My other issue is from the moment I switched the laptop on (yesterday when it was delivered) the updates on Windows Update are slow or don't start at all, is this an issue or just normal?

I'd appreciate any help or input at all, thank you.

And where I can set that I consume more or less. since it is a separable memory yes.

Answer:Satellite C70D-A: game lags due to graphic chip?

Hi

Well, I?m wondering why you purchased a unit with an internal (part of CPU) graphic chip if you want use the notebook for gaming?

The notebook supports the AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics which is part of AMD Quad-Core A6-5200 CPU.
Such GPU is similar to Intel HD GPU which is also part of Intel CPUs.

Such internal graphic cards are not really designed for gaming? of course you would be able to run and to play a game but don?t expect too much?

Hello,

I have buy a Satellite C70D-A-11T and pass it on Windows 7 64 bits Home Premium.
I install all the drivers and I haven't any problems.

When I want to connect it to my TV for first time, I discover there is no sound on the TV.
I try to go on the speaker (near the clock of windows), right click, sound, first tab (I think it is "Playback" in english... I have a french Windows) and my device (TV) doesn't appear.

I come back on Toshiba Support website to download the last driver "HDMI Audio driver" for my laptop, I connect the cable, and it appear in the sound properties. I select it as my default device and the sound come right from my TV.

Great !

But when I restart my laptop (with or without the HDMI cable), the TV disappear from the list in the sound properties, the only one solution to recover the sound is to reinstall the HDMI Audio Driver.
If I start the driver installation with the "advanced" option, I have the list of drivers to install and I see all drivers are already installed, but the HDMI Audio Driver will be upgraded... I install it and it work until the next restart.

Could you explain me why the version of the driver don't stay on the system, and how to make it work without reinstall it everyday ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:
ACPI\ASD0001\2&DABA3FF&1
and
ACPI\SMB0001\4&FE73487&0

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

Hi there

Pretty much every time I turn on my laptop I am being asked to enter in the date, it defaults to 1.1.2015. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can overcome this issue? Just to be clear this happens right at the point of turning the computer, i.e. before Windows even starts to load up. It must be date/time settings of the device.

Thanks for your help in advance

Omer

ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E (05.2014) won?t to read DVDs anymore. It doesn't matter which one I try it simply doesn't work.
Latest driver is installed.

Answer:ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E wont read DVDs anymore

Hi

If optical disc drive is installed properly maybe is reading lens dirty. Try to clean it up.

Other way, if your ODD can read CDs but not DVDs it can also be hardware malfunction. The reading lens cannot be calibrated properly and cannot find the right position to read DVD media.

In such case ODD must be exchanged.

Try to clean lens up and check if the problem persists. If yes contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

Would be grateful for any advice to remove the back panel.

I've removed battery, ~16 screws + 1 tiny screw at the optical drive and whilst it does 'unclick' everywhere else, there seems to be something stopping the panel being removed just above the battery compartment and don't want to force it.

Even our IT guys at work cannot work it out.

PLEASE HELP.....my new laptop is very slow so have purchased RAM but can't access the back.

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-30D: How to access back panel after ~16 screws removed

At first I must say that you should not remove bottom cover alone because it will cancel valid warranty. If there is no RAM cover, RAM should be exchanged or upgraded by authorized personal only.

I know every of us think it is easy to do and want to do this alone.
What I know is follow:
2 screws in the middle are fixing the keyboard. What must be removed are 14 screws and small flat screw at the optical drive. That’s all. There is no other hidden screw.

Of course there are also small plastic holders and bottom cover must be removed very gently.

Hello everybody,
brand new C70D two days old, if I want to look a Youtube video full screen after a few minutes, the C70D stops, blue screen with a message : your computer gets a problem, we collect informations ect.
After a restart the same problem comes again a few minutes later.
I have 14 days to accept this machine, but if it's a graphic card problem I prefer to return it to the vendor.

I thank you in advance for your answer.

I've only noticed today that when I turn up my laptop's volume up to about 28 (even with headphones in), there's this high pitch noise that comes from the speakers. And I'm sure it's the speakers and not anything else.
But the sound is sort of that real ear-killing noise so I can't listen to it for long. It even sometimes sounds like thousands of crickets - a complete nightmare

But with my volume at any level below 28 I can listen to whatever through headphones without the sound bothering me.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I do know a thing or two about computers but nothing about anything extremely technical and I'm not sure if I want to take it apart, unless I really have to.

If you could help me it would be appreciated!

HelloI have a big problem.I purchased online a T440s brand new. I opened the box for the first time myself. When I enter BIOS it asks for password and I just hit enter without entering any password. I can enter the BIOS but i can not change any settings. What can I do? Can a brand new thinkpad come with a BIOS password out the box?I get conflicting information regarding the type of password. First image says it's power on which can be removed but bios says its supervisor.

Answer:Brand New T440s with BIOS password

Indeed, it may happen. Sometimes large customers request preconfigured laptops which may include customized supervisor passwords. Of course, you should have not received one of these units. Ask the seller for a replacement unit, as there is no easy way to remove an unknown supervisor password without replacing the laptop mainboard.

I've just had a call from a friend, asking me for help. She's bought a new Lenovo Windows 10 laptop, started it up, created a user account password for the first time... and now she's forgotten the password!
There is no data on the computer yet, and no software (other than the un-necessary stuff that suppliers always pre-load).
Please could you advise me on the best way to get access to the computer, so that I can help her set up her software and copy her data in from the old computer?
If the best plan is simply to run a full reset (there's no Windows disc so I assume there's a recovery partition), I'd be very grateful for some guidance on doing this - I've never done it for Windows 10.
Many thanks for any advice.

Answer:Forgotten Windows 10 password on brand new compute

I just got my computer yesterday; put in the password, however, today when I put in the password, it's is saying it's the wrong password.  HP wants to charge me $39 in order to help me reset the password.  They are saying I need to reset the computer but I don't know how.  I was going to send it back but thought I would make one last effort to get into the system.

Answer:Brand new computer; input the password, the system is saying...

Hi, If you normally sign-on with an email and password, see if you can reset the password via another PC from the Microsoft page on the following link.  https://account.live.com/password/reset Otherwise, there is a general policy on the Forum not to provide methods to bypass Windows log-on passwords, however a local computer shop would be able to do this for you. Another option would be to reset the notebook to its 'Factory Condition' and then set it up from the beginning ? if you don?t have your Recovery Media, the notebook will have shipped with a Recovery Partition which can be accessed at boot - ie shutdown the notebook, then start tapping away at f11 as soon as you power on. A full guide on this can be found on the following link. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04758961  Regards, DP-K

I've just taken delivery of a brand new laptop for work, running XP Pro. On first switch on, I followed instructions to assign a computer name, a "friendly name" and a password. I'd like to change this password now, so that its consistent with the general password for logging on to our office network. I have never been asked to enter this password at initial switch on, or when XP boots. Trouble is, I can't work out how to change it. It is not a standard password for any of the user accounts in Windows XP. Neither is it acknowledged in the BIOS which shows both the primary and the administrator password disabled. But I know that it must be "in there" somewhere, because (although I can't find it again - ?somewhere in security settings? gpupdate?) I have found the name I gave the computer stored in its memory. Can anyone tell me (a) what that initial password was for and more importantly (b) how to change it? Thanks!

Hello

I ordered a laptop of a online website, it was stated I believe as brand new, but I've seen some videos on youtube when they pull of a screen cover I didnt have that, all I had was a plastic wrapper, also battery and everything was in the laptop and cables were not in a wrap, and the screen had like very faint smudge marks on it like it has been wiped, just wondering if this is normal?

Thank you also my laptop is L650-1CJ

Hi,

Maybe it is refurbished?
Is there a non-factory sticker on the Base?

Enter your Serial Number on the Toshiba Website (link: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/ )

It should have a 12 month warranty.

Can anyone help, please?

I just received my new Satellite L40 series with Vista premium installed.
Plugged in power supply and opened the unit turned it on and got this message:

'The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click ok to restart the computer & then restart the installation.'

So, I go ahead and click ok, system shuts down then boots up again with the same message over and over again. Read the small content manual supplied and ask for the recovery disc to be inserted, followed by the shut down of the unit. While the system restart to hold down the F12 key then select the DVD drive and continue to follow the onscreen instruction.

I have done this to the letter and still the same result with the message re-appearing.
I thought the recovery disc was empty but have checked it on the desktop and there is files folder on it so I tried again.

With-out any joy. This is for a present tomorrow which I am feeling I will not be able to give due to this matter and it's too late to get another.

PLEASE ,PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP?
MANY THANKS & KIND REGARDS
TOMMY

System: Lenovo Thinkpad X220 running bios 1.12 Problem/Issue:  We want to deploy a set of standardized bios settings across all of our 300 X220 laptops. I have already looked into the biossettingswindows.exe utility; however in order to playback a settings file one must set a bios supervisor password on the machines. This negates the idea of systematically deploying these settings; we DON'T want to have to touch each machine and setup a stupid password.   i have attmpetd to use SRSetup.exe to set the password and then planned to use the other utility to playback the bios settings however this app does not like to run in a WINPE 3.0 environment; ie it seriously requires DOS or Win95/98 bootdisc to run. Am i missing something here? can one set the password using the BIOSSETTINGSwindows.exe utility?  before you reply, be sure to try using the utility once.  here is some more info in case it would help:we use WDS to deploy our images and in turn have a WinPE 3.0 preboot environment.i am planning to add the commands to my windows 7 unattend file to run as a synchronous command after the image is deployed or may use the setupcomplete.cmdusing a dos/win95/98 boot disc is not acceptablesetting the supervisor password manually is also not acceptable

Answer:Lenovo X220 and BIOS settings/password deployment on brand new machines

An Update on why I think this is not working: WinPE is a compatibity mode OS vs DOS being an active mode OS. If i could just use the  windowsbiossettings.exe applicaiton to playback a bios w/o having to set a password would solve all of this.  didn't Lenovo think about this ahead of time? that us admins need to systematically push bios settings to 300+ machines w/o having to touch each one? i'll update if i find a resolution from our Lenovo rep/tech contact.

As far as I know all new Toshiba notebooks are delivered with HDD recovery image. That means there is no recovery media anymore. When you start your notebook model you will see a ?reminder? about creating recovery DVD.
Can you find on the desktop shortcut for ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?? If yes please start it and create recovery DVD.

Can you find ?HDD Recovery? folder on second partition? Please do not delete it.

Alright guys

I have got a toshiba satellite l750 that I brought from pc world a couple of months ago and I have a few problems.

For some reason when I save a document under my documents section of windows 7 it saves it fine and shows it there. But when I restart the machine it's gone completely of the machine.

I have had this a few problems so I am thinking of wiping everything of the computer and start a fresh brand new install.

However I don't have any windows disc that came with the laptop, just the winodws 7 key on the back of the laptop.

I am wondering if I use my windows 7 disc for my pc on the laptop but with the key on the back of the laptop it will work fine?

I'l just thought I double check because the sales guy at pc world told me no it wouldn't

Answer:Satellite L750 - Can I do a brand new install?

How about reading the user manual?
There you could find the info that recovery disk can be created using the Toshiba Recover Media Creator software preinstalled on the notebook.
Additionally there is a HDD recovery available which allows you to recover the notebook from HDD.
But recovery disk should be created too in cases something would happens with your HDD partition.

It's just after turns on, after appears The Toshiba logo.

Answer:Satellite P100-347 doesn't accept BIOS password - It appears: invalid password

Hi

You have used simply a wrong BIOS password. Either you have mistyped, mixed some letters or for example the caps lock buttons was enabled.
Please check these possibilities.

By the way; it?s not possible to bypass the unknown BIOS password by yourself.
If the BIOS password in unknown you will have to contact the ASP in your country to unlock the computer and to delete the BIOS password.

DDR2-533 512MB (PA3412U-2M51)

Hi

I have just bought this L300D new from ebuyer

I have booted up and I have virus protection etc. But for no apparent reason the computer crashes.
The only way out is to hold the on switch down to get out. Everything else is frozen.

It will do this about 2 times and then after reboot it seems to work ok.

I have recovered windows to its origional settings by HDD recovery and it has not made any difference.
I am as I say not a computer wizz.

Can anyone tell me how I can stop it crashing, it is really irritating.

Kind regards
michelle

Answer:Brand new Satellite Pro L300D crashes all the time

Hi

Does this happen often?
I mean the Windows OS could crash sometimes without any serious reasons? sometimes a software compatibility issue could be the reason why the OS freezes.

But I this issue would happen ofttimes then I would recommend contacting an ASP in your country. It could be related to the faulty hardware?

Your notebook is covered by warranty? (hopefully) so the warranty should cover all hardware problems?

Hi to all Toshiba laptop users,

If you've had a similar problem and/or know how to fix it, I beg you to help me. I bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite p300, lured by the promise of high quality sound (Harman/Kardon), among other benefits. To my big surprise and utter disappointment, the laptop is completely mute. No driver conflicts reported in the device manager. Volume control sound level indicator is alive, but no sound coming out of the speakers. Searching for the problem on the Internet revealed a possible driver incompatibility with Vista 64 SP1. No newer driver is available on this website. The sound is not muted in volume mixer, turning the physical volume control on the laptop had no effect.

The most upsetting is the fact that I had to spend a whole weekend trying to figure out a solution to a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place. That's after spending nearly 3k (NZD) on this thing. I mean, if this is normal, then Toshiba has a serious problem with quality control. But, this is just my frustration speaking. If anyone can help me, I'll be eternally grateful :).

Answer:Satellite P300 (PSPCCA) - brand new, no sound

One another important note - headphones produce sound when plugged in, so the sound card seems to be performing just fine, just not the speakers.

I got a brand new C650-179 where I have problems with the keyboard.

Basic facts:
Win 7 Home Premium
4 GB RAM
No software additional software installed yet

My problem is mostly related to the n key but also sometimes d key. If I press n slowly with one sec pause there is no problem, but if press n fast it types n and jumps back one step left and sometimes only jumps one step to the left. Similar thing seems to be with my d character, it radomly types z instead of d.

Do anyone know a possible reason for this behaviour except hardware error?

Hello there, im new here.

I got a question for you, maybe someone here can help me with this.

I got an old, used Toshiba Satellite A200 29L here and i ask myself which harddrive i supposed to be in this when bought originally.

The notebook is atleast 5 years old, probably even older.

At the moment there is a Fujitsu harddrive with 250 GB in it, but i wanted to know if this is the laptops original harddrive with which it was sold back then in store.

The reason i ask myself this question is that this notebook has been with me for a while and i can't remember if i ever changed the harddrive of it or not. This problem gets more aggravated as i just found a 500 GB harddrive of the company Toshiba here and i can not remember of which notebook i would have removed that.

I found this (might be in german):
http://www.toshiba.de/discontinued-p...lite-a200-29l/
Here it is written that this notbook comes with a 250GB harddrive (although the manufacturer of it is not mentioned).
On the other hand:
http://www.amazon.de/TOSHIBA-Satelli.../dp/B00518EOKI
Based on this link it seems that there are official 500 GB harddrives for this notebook as well.

I know this might be a strange question, but i am pretty sure that some of you got an answer for me here

Thank you in advance and best regards.

Answer:Which HDD-brand is usually build into a Satellite A200-29L originally?

Maybe it sounds stupid now but it is not possible to find such information. All we can find is the HDD capacity. In the notebook specification is not mention which brand is the HDD.

Maybe someone with identical notebook model can help you.

Anyway, you can exchange or upgrade HDD anytime you want. All you need is SATA HDD (SATA connector).
Satellite A200 is pretty old notebook model but what you can do is to upgrade it with SSD and install Win7 32bit. Believe me you will be surprised how fast this old piece of hardware can be.

Here's an odd problem. My Brother recently ordered a new C850-14C laptop and it arrived by courier direct from the warehouse. When he took it out of the box it had a UK plug and UK keyboard (we're in England), but when he started it up the whole thing was in Finnish! That 's Windows 7 and all the bundled software. The keyboard indicator in the tray at the bottom had options for EN (for England and Australia), FI - Finland, and MK - (FYR Macedonia).

I wondered if there was some sort of "dual boot" option to make it start up in different languages, but I've not come across anything like that in this forum. So I checked the serial number on the Toshiba Support page, which correctly identified it as a C850-14C with Windows SP1 64-Bit Home Premium, but the language given was not English but "NH".

Has anyone come across this sort of thing before? He'll probably have to return the machine to get a replacement under warranty, but wanted to find out if he was missing something obvious before he sent it back.

Answer:Preinstalled OS on brand new Satellite C850-14C is in Finnish

Probably there is some mistake. Send it back to seller as soon as possible and ask for replacement.
By the way: can you please post exact Model part number?

You can find it at the bottom on Toshiba sticker. It must be something with PSKC9E-01xxxxx.

Hi,
I have just purchased a new Toshiba Satellite C850, everything is working perfectly however, there is one thing which gets annoying...

The pointer keeps freezing once I start using it, i.e. I can click to open an app and the cursor will freeze for a few seconds before allowing me to use it. Or, once I touch the touchpad to move the cursor it wont move for a few seconds before it allows me to continue.

Even while I'm typing, I try to move to an area to select but the cursor wont move for about a second. It does this every time.

Does anyone know why this could be happening and how it can be fixed?

Thank you

Answer:Pointer freezes on brand new Satellite C850

Have you noticed heavy HDD activity when this happen (HDD LED is blinking)?
Maybe some activity in the background slows down notebook?s performance.

It can be Windows updates installation or something similar.
Do you use original Antivirus application that you got with your notebook or some other favourite application?

Started with brand new L510, I dont think setup completed properly, didn't have start up guide so didn't realize was going to take so long, Turned off , so now every time we restart keep getting "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and then welcome to windows 7, and system preparation tool out of box experience, we click ok and get fatal error occured while trying to sysprep machine" have been reading through forum and tried to press F8 on start up but do not get repair my computer option.

Any ideas where to now, am a novice at all this.

Answer:Setup not completed on brand new Satellite L510

>... didn't have start up guide so didn't realize was going to take so long,
That's the problem. After first start recovery image installation will be started and many different drivers and software components must be installed properly. This procedure can take over one hour and should not be interrupted.

I presume notebook stuck now on some certain step and installation cannot be continued.
F8 option will work when the installation is finished properly.

What to do now?
I don't know where you have bought this notebook but maybe you can talk with your local dealer about your problem. if they have the same notebook in their showroom you can ask them if they can create recovery disc for you and you can use it for OS installation.
Second option is to order installation disc directly from Toshiba under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but you must pay for it.

Let me know what do you think about all this.

Purchased a Satellite L50-B-1P1 under two weeks ago but over the past couple days I've noticed the battery seems to be draining very quickly. The icon will say I have hours left but the percentage will drop fast regardless of this.

I've noticed this happen with other laptops in the past, but that usually comes after years of use, not a couple weeks.

I would've ordinarily used my warranty to contact the seller and ask them to provide me with a new battery, but the battery in this laptop is integrated, which I've never dealt with and so I'm not entirely sure what I ought to do.

(if it helps, I've always used a Balanced power plan. I do play games sometimes which are about the most intensive things I do on it, and sometimes I keep the laptop charging through that. But again I don't see how my use could've severely damaged the battery so quickly)

Answer:Brand-new Satellite L50-B-1P1- Battery draining far too quickly?

How long can you run the notebook with battery power until the battery would be empty?
According the Toshiba information (Mobile Mark? 2012) the notebook should run round up to 6 hours at battery power only.

Of course this depends more or less from the notebook usage and power settings but I guess this is a useful reference value.

In case your battery does not hold the charge properly, i would recommend you to contact service center in order to check the battery for possible malfunction

How long does one charge the battery for (very first time use - out of the box)?
Have read all the documentation and nothing stated. I'd assume overnight - can anyone confirm please.

Answer:Charging the battery on brand new Satellite A notebook

Hi!

Which Satellite notebook do you have?

I don?t know how long it takes to fully load the battery but normally you can see this on the LED?s on the notebook. If it lights green, the battery is loaded.
And if load the notebook overnight, it?s really full loaded on morning.

Bye

Have a new laptop (3 months). A300 WinXP prof
It only can read <70% of all types of disks.
Even HP and Sony it don't recognize!!
Drive is a Mat****a DVD-Ram UJ-8505

In my last laptop I never had any problem reading whatsoever CD/DVD
Do I have to buy a new one? (drive I mean?)
Is substituting easy to be done? Or go to an ASP?
Should it need to clean the lens? With what - water/ alcohol?
What stands -RAM- for?

perloc

Answer:Satellite A300 - Don't read brand CDs/DVDs

I have the best experience with Verbatim DVD-R disks and TDK. These manufactures make high quality disks and never had problems with it so you try it.

In worst case you must go to an ASP. They can check your notebook and exchange the drive if it?s necessary.

Hi Guys,

I've got a brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX with Windows 7 64bit.

The laptop is having some issues with its sleep function. I am wondering if others have had the same problem - and if anyone knows anything that can be done.

OK there are two issues;
1. when the laptop enters sleep mode - it will come out of it on its own after some time. it goes to the login screen and wait for about another hour before going back to sleep. This is while plugged into power - and no LAN.

2. When I close the lid to put the laptop to sleep - and while on the battery - after some time it will not power up at all. Plugging in the power will not do anything at all - the power light will not come on at all - suggesting the laptop does not even notice being plugged. I then have to take out the battery and switch the computer on (thereby losing any data I had when I put the computer to sleep!!).

So, have you seen this problem with your satellite pro's? Is it something common and to be ignored - or is there an easy solution to it?

Thanks in advance.

- Audette

Answer:Sleeping issue on brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX

Hello Audette

I don't have Satellite Pro U500 but just want to say that such issues are mostly fixed with BIOS updates. Visit Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads and check if new BIOS update is available.

If you make decision to run BIOS update please be sure all open applications are closed and notebook MUST be connected to AC power supply.

Good luck

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

Hi guys,

my unit came fully discharged which was quite annoying. So I charged up the tablet to 100% and the keyboard battery was at the time reading 100% charge. Applied the bios update 1.70 and after boot the keyboard battery was showing at 0%. It will now not charge, the tablet is at 100% and Windows reports battery 2 is charging but it stays at 0%.

There is a high pitched electrical whine coming from the keyboard dock? Could it be a faulty battery? Or is it so deeply discharged it will not charge again?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Battery issues with brand new Satellite Click Mini

If the keyboard battery is deeply discharged, you have to keep the AC adaptor connected for at least 24 hours…

But the high pitched electrical whine coming from the keyboard dock sounds really strange…
I can imagine that there is some lose connection or an hardware issue…

Anyway, tablet must be connected to AC adaptor and docked to the keyboard dock while charging… please also ensure that the tablet is powered OFF (press and hold the power button 10-15 sec in order to power off the tablet)

Hello all,

I bought a L750-EZ1 last week and it doesn't work fine.

Sometimes, when starting up, already at bios load step, the screen is white/clear grey with a black band in the middle. If I wait, Windows loads but the screen remains like this. Can't do anything else that force shut-down by pressing ON-OFF button more than 3sec. Sometimes it reloads the same way, others reloads fine, but then...

ALWAYS, the laptop already loaded and running under Win7 Home Edition 64bit (OEM OS coming with the laptop already installed), the screen becomes black, the computer freezes completely (no response to anything else than >3sec on ON-OFF button to shut it down) and the fan starts turning at high speed.
This happens always, sometimes before 1min after start-up, others after several minutes. No rule. The computer base is NOT hot when it happens.
I have upgraded drivers through Toshiba support website and no change.

If would be nice to have some help.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Re: Several issues on brand new Satellite L750-EZ1 (Win7-64bit)

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there.
What I can say is follow: set BIOS to default settings and reinstall OS using HDD recovery installation. Check the functionality with ?factory settings? without changing anything. If the same will happen again and again I recommend you to bring notebook back to your local dealer and ask for replacement.

How long do you have this notebook now?

Hi all
I'm new and a bit of a technophobe - hope you can help.

We bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago and set it all up. Seemed pretty easy - set itself up after switching on, logged on with password to network and we were away.

We have 2 logins A and B set up on it. My partner switched it and it came up with the login screen A and B with 2 icons - he went to click on his and it didn't respond. No mouse is attached, we are using the keyboard mouse. Tried to restart with the on button, but the same thing happened. I tried it again and it went through a process and offered safe mode and normal mode, I tried it separately on both and it came back to the login screen and the click wasn't responding.

It is now stuck on battery mode, because we can't get passed this screen and turn it of properly. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much.

Answer:Brand new Satellite L300 stuck on login screen

We have now plugged a mouse in and it worked with a mouse and then flicked over to allow us to use the touch pad. Might I have this problem again?

Thanks

I bought a Satellite A200 yesterday and am having trouble switching on. The power button will switch the power on but the boot up doesn't start though the power button light is on.

I have to switch it on and off at least three times before it decides to boot up.

Is there a secret method????

Answer:Brand new Satellite A200 doesn't switch on first time

Hi

Hmm? in your case I would remove the battery from the notebook and would disconnect the AC adaptor.
Then wait a little bit (~20min) and connect both parts again.

I don?t know why your notebook didn?t boot up at first time but I would recommend monitoring this notebook behaviour.
If it will happen again and more often then you should contact the authorized service provider in your country for a notebook check.
If something would be wrong the warranty should cover this.

Bye
