Preferred Solution: Screen is flickering on my Satellite C70D-A

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Screen is flickering on my Satellite C70D-A

It is not easy to understand your problem.
Do you use your notebook with original Windows that you got with your notebook or maybe own OS version?

Ever since I purchased my machine, I have been dogged with a blue screen and a reboot...once, however, I ha to take it back to the point of sale, because it just would not reboot.

The error screen in question is: 0xa0000001. What is going on?
I get this two - three times a night. how do I sort it? I'm not a geek and would like plain and simple instructions to understand....

Answer:Satellite C70D - blue screen 0xa0000001

0xa0000001 is not a usual BSOD code. Usually its something like 0x000000xx

Does the BSOD display a system file?

Hello everybody,
brand new C70D two days old, if I want to look a Youtube video full screen after a few minutes, the C70D stops, blue screen with a message : your computer gets a problem, we collect informations ect.
After a restart the same problem comes again a few minutes later.
I have 14 days to accept this machine, but if it's a graphic card problem I prefer to return it to the vendor.

I thank you in advance for your answer.

Hi all.

My daughter has an old Satellite A30 laptop but its fine for her needs.

The screen has been flickering for some time but if she moved the screen it would stop and she could continue to work.
Now though the problem is much worse and at times, you cannot make out anything on the screen.

I have stripped the laptop down and checked for loose connections but all seems ok.
I have found that when powered up, if very slight pressure is applied to the sides of the screen the flickering stops and the screen is fine.

Any ideas what may be causing this and is there any fix? It doesnt look like there are any connections down the side of the screen but I didnt get as far as trying to remove the thin metal surround.

All help and ideas truly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A30 - screen flickering

Maybe it?s a screen itself which malfunctions.
It could be also possible that the FL inverter does not work properly.
The FL inverter is a tiny part behind the screen frame.
Usually it?s not very expansive and could be replaced by a notebook technician.

But note; this is only my personal suggestion and the notebooks technician should check firstly the parts before performing any replacements.

I have a problem with my laptop the screen starts flickering black. I still can see everything normally this stops when I open the screen to the _maximum angle_ or when I apply pressure above the power bar on the screen round hinge in the middle of it I used to _carry my laptop sometimes from it's screen_ sometimes so I want to know what's causing the problem.

I ruled out the VGA because the laptop works normally if I connect another screen so it's either from the screen backlight, LCD, or some cables or connectors or the inverter does anyone have a clue?

plz help and reply soon

Answer:Satellite L505 - Screen flickering but another screen works

Hi danysafi,

You?re right: The problem is caused from the screen backlight, LCD or LCD cable but who should we check this without diagnostic tools?

With other words in this case you need help from an authorized service provider because they have special diagnostic tools to check the hardware. In my opinion that?s the easiest and fastest way and if your notebook is under warranty, the repair is for free.

Last but not least you can find a list of all ASPs on official Toshiba website. :)

First of all I would like to say hi to everyone..

My workmate came to me with his laptop, which is a Satellite A100 with a screen flickering issue.
Its nothing major, but the screen will constantly flicker randomly like it?s refreshing.
I have tried an external monitor and it is fine, so I am assuming either the LCD screen, "FL inverter board", or connectors. There is no colour distortion, no lines/checkers on the screen, and no backlight issues.

I am not a genius at laptops but I have repaired my own with success.

I took apart his laptop and just had a look around, made sure no loose connections, dust etc put it back together and still had the same issue with the screen flickering.

Now I have no idea what a "FL inverter board" does, or if this could be the issue, so any information would be appreciated.
He?s not keen to buy a new LCD, only to find out it is this inverter board thingy.

Thanks in advanced

Answer:Flickering screen on Satellite A100

I believe the FL Inverter converts low voltage to high voltage to power the FL Tube. You should be careful with the Inverter as it can give you an electrical shock.

You say that there is no Backlight issue, so it wouldn't be the Inverter at fault.

If its the Image that is flickering (while the backlight is always on), then there may be a bad connection behind the screen, or a part needs replacing (such as the LCD, the cable, or the graphics card).

My laptop's screen randomly starts flickering. I've sent it back to be fixed a couple of time, it works fine fo ra day or two and then starts flickering again.
It's really frustrating as no matter what position I put the screen in it flickers...HELP plz!!!

Answer:Satellite A300D-16C - screen keeps flickering.

Hello jadakiss

Sorry to hear you have this flickering problem and I believe you when you say it is frustrating.
How to help? Good question.

As you know you cannot do much with your laptop. You cannot disassemble it and try to fix something and we, as end users, have no possibility to do much. What we can do is to test hardware functionality with clean preinstalled operating system. That?s all.

So, I?m afraid you must try to contact service again and talk with them. Ask what they have done to fix this. Ask if something exchanged or not.

I bought my Toshiba computer 3 days ago and my laptop screen flickers randomly especially when the computer is working (CPU load or WIFI data). The flickering is similar to this picture: (I just found this picture on the net to illustrate the flickering - it is not my computer).

I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or something wrong with the graphics drivers. I have done the following to solve my problem:
- Reinstalled graphic drivers from Toshiba support
- Update BIOS to the newst version
- Full Recovery of the system (so it's back to factory state)
- Slightly knocking in the back of the screen

... and the issue still continues. It seems more and more that this is a HW problem as I can't find anyone with similar problem. What should I do?

Bring your notebookt to the local dealer and ask for replacement. Dont waste your time anymore.
You should get new one.

I've had problems with my screen flickering on and off.
It only started today and only flicks for a couple of seconds every 20 minutes.
Could this be my backlight going? or could this be a problem easily solved?

Answer:Screen Flickering on Satellite L350D-213

For me it sounds like something serious.
Can you please start your notebook and enter BIOS settings.

Leave the notebook for a while and watch if the flickering will occurs again.
Test it also with ?safe mode? and let us know what happen exactly.

I am not technician but if flickering continues even in BIOS mode I am afraid there is some technical problem.

I bought Satellite X200-21k about 2 months ago and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Yesterday, while I was doing some work on my laptop and I noticed that the screen started flickering. Along with flickering, screen brightness was going lower and lower and at one moment it was really dark. I plugged in and out the power supply cable and the screen changed its brightness while I was doing that. At one moment, my left side of the screen was completely black while the right one was really dark. I restarted computer 3 times and it happened again and again and again. After another restart, screen looked fine. Now, while I am writing this everything is normal, but I am still worried about it.

Do you have any advice for me? Do you maybe know the reason why this is happening? Could it be a virus? Could it be a power supply cable? Graphics card? :(

Answer:Screen flickering on Satellite X200-21k

> Do you maybe know the reason why this is happening? Could it be a virus? Could it be a power supply cable? Graphics card?

- Virus issue -> don?t think this issue could be caused by any viruses or malware
- Power cable -> maybe but I would tend to the monitor issue.

There is a simply procedure to test if the graphic card malfunctions or not.
You could try to connect the notebook to the external monitor and could test if the same issue appears on the second, external display.
If the same will appear on the external monitor then the chances are that the GPU is faulty.

But if the issue doesn?t appear on external monitor then the internal notebooks display is faulty or the little part like the FL inverter starts to malfunction.

However, it looks like a hardware issue and a hardware problem should be always checked by an ASP which is responsible for you country.

Bye an good luck

My new 8 month old laptop's screen started flickering and so I contacted Toshiba France, who collected it, but after two months they were still awaiting a spare.

The laptop was returned unrepaired, and I took it to a local PC repair shop who says they can fix it for 200 euros.

Question, Should Toshiba honour the gaurentee and cover the cost of repairs?

My new R850 laptop has a very strange habit.

Its screen is flickering randomly one-two or three times (it only takes less than 1 sec, but sometimes very frequent). I tried to update bios, drivers and reinstall system and i tested it too, but nothing changed.
I sent R850 to service for testing but all hardware test were successful!

Can anybody help me to solve problem?
Windows 7 driver error?
Any idea, advice to repair?

Answer:Flickering screen on new Satellite Pro R850

I would like to do this but how?
All you have done is right and if Toshiba service cannot help how should we do this. If diagnostic software cannot find the problem I think there is nothing you can do about that.

Talk with your local dealer and ask if you can get replacement. In my opinion it is last reasonable option for you.

Answer:Need new display for my Satellite C70D-A

The Satellite C70D-A-11K was equipped with the 17.3" LED color LCD panel with the supporting max resolution of 1600 x 900 px
You should be able to order such display panel from local Toshiba authorized service provider or you could check some 3rd part online dealers who provide compatible notebook parts…

As I mention above: you should look for the 17.3" panels.

I have a C70D-A-107 and want to speed up this notebook. Already placed 4gb extra memory so the notebook has now 8gb internal. I doubt whether it is usefull to put in 2x8gb. I think the processor is just to slow. It has a AMD E1-2100 inside. Is it possible to put in another (faster) processor?

Answer:Speed-up Satellite C70D-A-107

The Satellite C70D-A-107 was equipped with an AMD Essentials E1-2100 Accelerated CPU (1,00 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache)
It’s not the fastest CPU therefore the notebook performance isn’t the best…

But CPU upgrade isn’t officially supported by notebook manufacturer... therefore I don’t think that you will be able to upgrade the CPU…

I read about successful Intel CPU upgrades but did not meet anyone who was able to perform an upgrade with an AMD CPU

Just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as far as I know until know), except boot from DVD. I disabled in the bios the Secure Boot and changed the boot order to DVD first, then USB and then HDD. The DVD drive starts, but then it skips to the HDD and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so that is not the problem.
I would like to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Anyone solved this problem already?

The wurst laptop we ever had. We feel robbed of our money.

2 months ago we started with Ubuntu. It Still slow. IS there anybody with the same problems?

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-108 is very slow

Hi Marco

I don't have this notebook model and cannot confirm what you wrote but fact is that almost all new notebooks are pretty slow at the beginning. Many applications are set to start with Windows and this, of course, slows down boot time.
Windows updates are also set to automatic so in the background the machine will download and install many updates so this will slow down your machine rapidly.

In my opinion you should install original OS that you got with this machine and optimize it a bit.
Remove all useless stuff, change start-up option and disable automatic Windows updates.
In the past I have noticed that original preinstalled antivirus is also responsible for notebook?s performance so I don't use original preinstalled application but my own version of Avir Antivir and it runs perfectly.

Check all these options and I hope your machine will run much better than before.

Good evening,

I'm sorry to disturb,
but I find myself in a situation to which I find no solution,
that's why I come here asking for some help.

A friend has just purchased the following laptop:
- Satellite C70D-B-307

but the worry is that apparently it is impossible to have access to the HDD recovery to execute the factory restoration.
I try all possible solutions that I find on the web and none of it works.

what to do ?

does Toshiba sell the recovery DVDs that will restore the computer to its factory state?

Thank you very much .

I have been experiencing a problem in the last week when my laptop is plugged into mains and has been running a while when I remove the power cable and run off the battery. The screen constantly flickers. If I then plug mains back in it is fine again.

If I reboot with power cable out the problem goes away but I wont to know what is causing the problem is it something to do with the power inlet on laptop where it attaches to mobo? That's only idea I've had searching for similar problem or possibly could it be the AC adapter itself?

Answer:Screen flickering on battery - Satellite A100-275

Strange? maybe the notebook switched to another power mode and therefore the strange flickering appeared. Maybe an Fl-inverter issue?

Hi there!
I own a 5 years old Sat. 5100-201 which worked just fine until today.
Now I experiance problems with the graphic card as I guess, the screen is flickering and distorted and then I mosztly get a blue screen which tells that the graphic
card drivers is running into a loop.

I have a dual boot system, so I checked it on both win xp installations and it's the same problem on both, so it seems to be a real hardware prob.!
So I think I have a graphic card problem, but as far as I know, the chip is fixed on the motherboard and is not replacable, is that right?
Is there any workaround which I can do to make sure what the problem is?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I wonder if anyone could offer me some guidance regarding the above.

Over the last two weeks the screen of my laptop has been flickering - coloured lines going across the page until they get darker and darker. It seems to stop or slow down if I move the laptop screen (generally further back) although lately it will go completely black.

I have the laptop set up for automatic shutdown when I close the lid and the only solution when the screen turns black is to do just that. It will then come back on normally once I open the lid.

I have tried googling many solutions (many of which I find completely confusing) and am wondering if this could be a lose wire somewhere??

Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated as it is quite frankly driving me nuts :)

Answer:Satellite C855-29L screen flickering becoming constant

> I have tried googling many solutions (many of which I find completely confusing) and am wondering if this could be a lose wire somewhere??

I don?t think it?s a lose connection problem.
But to be honest I?m not quite sure if its ?just? an software/graphic card driver issue or maybe an serious display issue.

Anyway; from my point of view you should perform some tests. For example you should uninstall the graphic card driver (can be done within the device manager) and should download and install the latest one available on the Toshiba European driver page.
Furthermore you should also connect an external monitor to the notebook in order to check whether the same display problems would be visible on2nd, external monitor.

In case the external monitor would not be affected, the problem is not related to graphic card driver or graphic card but probably the internal display malfunctions.
In such case such part needs to be replaced.

System starts but does not boot.

Referring to the manual (section 6, solutions of problems) I tried to hit [F12] after power on but nothing happened.
Same when hitting [F2].

My impression is that something failed on hard disk drive.

P.S. system has Win10 installed.

I have 2 issues with my new Satellite C70D-B-32U.
When I put it in sleep mode, it does. But after about 5 minutes, it goes automatically to hibernate. This I don't want. And I don't want to disable hibernate, because I do use it when the laptop is not in use for longer periods. The power settings in control panel do not reflect this behaviour. In the settings, I specified that the laptop should never go to hibernate. Hybrid state is disabled.

And secondly, more importantly. Whenever it goes to hibernate, I can only wake it up with the power button. Not with the (internal) keyboard, not with the usb mouse. I would like an option to wake it from hibernate by pressing any key on the keyboard. In bios power on keyboard is set to on. Is there anything else I can change to have this available?
Actually if issue 1 is solved and the laptop stays in sleep mode, this issue is also solved since from sleep I can wake on a mouseclick which is also fine.

The OS is windows 8.1

Hi There,

I have had a Satellite C70D for about 18 months now, but have not used it in the past year as I have been disputing with customer services about the windows licence for the machine as I lost it when I formatted the original hard drive before installing an SSD and they wouldnt send me a copy of it. I have now bitten the bullet and bought a windows 10 licence again. However since building the machine a few days ago, I have been having a couple of issues and as it is now out of warranty, I cannot contact customer support (Who I found unhelpful even when it was in warranty!)

The first issue is when I boot up the machine, occasionally the keyboard will not work, I cannot type the BitLocker pin and I have to remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, this then fixes the issue for a few reboots before it goes again.

The second is that occasionally it will boot up with a red x next to the WiFi symbol, but it detects the WiFi card, usually a reboot fixes this but not always. I have reseated the card and still no avail.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this? The BIOS is up-to-date as are all of the drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help

Answer:Can I replace the HDD in my Satellite C70D-B -00P model with an SSD?

Generally speaking yes, you can do this but problem is that your notebook model doesn't have HDD cover at the bottom side.
To have full access to the HDD the bottom cover must be removed completely but it should be done by authorized service only.

Of course you can try to do it alone but I?m afraid you may lose the warranty.
If possible contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country, explain the situation and ask for help.

For the past few weeks the Laptop stopped playing sound.

So actually I should be able to see the sound playing in the mixer.
But I wasn't able to play any sound or get any deflection in the mixer.

I have no idea why the sound stopped working and why it started again.

Have you installed some updates or anything else that can be responsible for this sound issue?

What to do?

After owning it since February of 2009 my Toshiba laptop has become unusable! The screen flickers and goes to white constantly. Neither tech support or Customer Relations offers any help whatsoever!

Some will say that it is out of warranty and is therefor, my problem. Fair enough until you do a Google search on Toshiba laptop screen problems...4,200,000 hits. Or try Googling Toshiba laptop screen flickering...27,000 hits.

The customer relations person informed me that Toshiba has no record of screen problems IN THEIR SYSTEM so there is nothing that they could do.

I submit that they know exactly what the problem is, but are hiding behind a 1 year warranty and in my opinion they are knowingly selling a defective product.

I will NEVER, EVER buy a Toshiba product of any type again!!! I feel like I have been ripped off and offered no help at all.

Answer:My Satellite M305-S4910 is unuseable due to screen flickering

> Some will say that it is out of warranty and is therefor, my problem. Fair enough until you do a Google search on Toshiba laptop screen problems...4,200,000 hits. Or try Googling Toshiba laptop screen flickering...27,000 hits.

Goggle for other notebook manufactures like Dell, HP etc?
I got 9.790.000 hits!
So first of all using google and to compare the results and hits is simply nonsense because there are other factors which influences such results?

Back to your issue;
> After owning it since February of 2009 my Toshiba laptop has become unusable! The screen flickers and goes to white constantly. Neither tech support or Customer Relations offers any help whatsoever!

Toshiba ASP would always help you if your hardware would start to malfunction.
Here you can find all ASPs world wide: -> Support & Downloads -> Find an Authorized Service Provider

If the warranty is valid, everything would be covered by warranty.
If you warranty is not valid anymore, then you will have to pay for the fix.
This is nothing unusual and it is the custom. All manufacturers (not only computer/notebook) do that?

Furthermore the one year standard warranty can be extended. I registered my notebook on Toshiba page and got additional year warranty for free!
Of course you can buy also an additional warranty which extends the warranty to 3 or 4 years?
I did someting like that for my PS3...

I'm having an issue with flickering horinzontal lines randomly appearing on the screen for a random duration (during all kinds of situations, web browsing, video playback, high or low cpu usage, etc.). Very similar behavior can be seen on these videos:

The motherboard has been changed already to no avail.
Based on sources around the internet the current best guess for a cause is the advanced power management, which dinamically changes the core speeds (in CPU and/or GPU). Disabling these (turing off PowerPlay, setting Windows power management to maximum performance, etc.) doesn't help though.

The issue's been present for months. 1 single BSOD happened, possibly caused by a directx / display driver issue, not sure if there is a connection.

Still couldn't reproduce the issue (tried universal stress tests, cpu-memory-vga tests, etc.). The issue is very random.
System: Windows 7 prof. 64bit, latest drivers from toshiba website.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite C660D-16E - flickering horizontal lines on screen

I?ve checked this first video but I don?t see anything.

On this virtual way is not easy to discuss about such issues but what I want to know is follow:
Have you tried to connect external display and check if the same will happen again?

In my opinion such issues can be result of graphic card malfunction. To find out what the problem can be you need time and more testing. Obtain second HDD, put it in your notebook, install original Toshiba recovery image and test it several days with ?factory settings?.

If the same will happen again and again it must be hardware related issue.

What do you think about that?

My Toshiba has been flashed with the latest available BIOS v6.00 and has a geforce 7600 go gpu.
About 2 weeks ago the screen started flickering and grey noisy lines made their appearance momentarily, over the past days the problem has increased in frequency and the screen shows only black, however the backlight is on.

If LCD panel is left off for a couple of hours it works again but after a while same behaviour occurs. In addition I have connected it to an external monitor and everything works fine. Any ideas?
Also I would like to ask, in case I have to change the LCD panel which is currently (15.4 @ 1280x800) would it be possible to replace it with one of higher resolution like one form the Tecra line (15.4 @ 1680x1050)?

Answer:Satellite A100-003 - flickering screen then shows only black

> In addition I have connected it to an external monitor and everything works fine. Any ideas?
This would mean the graphic card is ok and the problem is caused by another part. Otherwise the external monitor would show the same behavior?

So the following parts could be affected:
-LCD cable
-FL inverter
-LCD itself

If another LCD would it?s hard to say because only a notebook technician can give you 100% sure answer but important is it has the same screen size (15.4?) and same connector type. Higher resolution could work but there is no guarantee regarding this.

So before you do something wrong ask a notebook technician for help if the screen would be compatible.

All I can do is move the cursor and use the mousepad when keeping the left mouse button at the same time.
Anyone a solution?

Answer:Satellite C70D - impossible to deblock mousepad

To be honest I’ve never heard about such touchpad behaviour.
Have you tested all touchpad settings?
If there is option to set all of them on default settings please do this and test functionality again.

Anyway, best hardware test is to reinstall operating system and check touchpad functionality with “factory settings”.

I entered this and the next time I logged in there was my hotmail profile photo.
I entered my password - no problem. I changed the language from Spanish to English etc etc.

I switched it on this morning and got the Toshiba Logo - then it went to blank screen and there was a large data entry box asking me for a password. I tried the same one and I get another screen showing a red data entry box saying "VERIFY ERROR!! Please reenter to continue!!

Can anyone help me please. I am operating windows 8.1

And where I can set that I consume more or less. since it is a separable memory yes.

Answer:Satellite C70D-A: game lags due to graphic chip?

Well, I?m wondering why you purchased a unit with an internal (part of CPU) graphic chip if you want use the notebook for gaming?

The notebook supports the AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics which is part of AMD Quad-Core A6-5200 CPU.
Such GPU is similar to Intel HD GPU which is also part of Intel CPUs.

Such internal graphic cards are not really designed for gaming? of course you would be able to run and to play a game but don?t expect too much?

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E (05.2014) won?t to read DVDs anymore. It doesn't matter which one I try it simply doesn't work.
Latest driver is installed.

Message was edited: posting has been translated

Answer:ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11E wont read DVDs anymore

If optical disc drive is installed properly maybe is reading lens dirty. Try to clean it up.

Other way, if your ODD can read CDs but not DVDs it can also be hardware malfunction. The reading lens cannot be calibrated properly and cannot find the right position to read DVD media.

In such case ODD must be exchanged.

Try to clean lens up and check if the problem persists. If yes contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

I have buy a Satellite C70D-A-11T and pass it on Windows 7 64 bits Home Premium.
I install all the drivers and I haven't any problems.

When I want to connect it to my TV for first time, I discover there is no sound on the TV.
I try to go on the speaker (near the clock of windows), right click, sound, first tab (I think it is "Playback" in english... I have a french Windows) and my device (TV) doesn't appear.

I come back on Toshiba Support website to download the last driver "HDMI Audio driver" for my laptop, I connect the cable, and it appear in the sound properties. I select it as my default device and the sound come right from my TV.

Great !

But when I restart my laptop (with or without the HDMI cable), the TV disappear from the list in the sound properties, the only one solution to recover the sound is to reinstall the HDMI Audio Driver.
If I start the driver installation with the "advanced" option, I have the list of drivers to install and I see all drivers are already installed, but the HDMI Audio Driver will be upgraded... I install it and it work until the next restart.

Could you explain me why the version of the driver don't stay on the system, and how to make it work without reinstall it everyday ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi all,

excuse the new thread but I haven't found any answers anywhere online, just speculation and it's for different models.

So I have a C70D-B-10U, running windows 7 64bit pro. When I formatted it and updated everything, it just kept crashing when trying to play back videos on Windows Media Player. I cleaned the inside and replaced thermal paste, updated to even newer drivers, and started using VLC as my default media player. It rarely crashed BUT it always does when I try to start playing games (nothing heavy - League of Legends). Laptop seems to be doing well with memory tests, no faults detected.

I've read that this could be caused by:
Faulty GPUFaulty BatteryFaulty PSUBad Capacitors on the MOBO

Has anyone had any similar experience? I've reinstalled Windows and it's the same story. If it's a motherboard issue, I guess it would be better to just get a new one?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-10U no warning crash (power, GPU or capacitors)

Update: I decided to test the RAM and it seems like it can't handle 8GB. Both 4GB sticks work on any slot, but when I have all of it on the machine it crashes. Do you think it is a motherboard issue?

Hi there,

I was bought the above model of laptop for an early Christmas present which usually sits down in the living room, my old Satellite Pro sat down there with no issues however with this device the wireless signal is very low and I appear to be having it sitting right next to the wireless router (which is located upstairs in my sons bedroom), I wondered if there's any steps I could take to improve the signal?

It baffles me how a new system has such a poor wireless signal when my old Satellite Pro which was 6 years old had no wireless issues whatsoever.

My other issue is from the moment I switched the laptop on (yesterday when it was delivered) the updates on Windows Update are slow or don't start at all, is this an issue or just normal?

I'd appreciate any help or input at all, thank you.

Theoretically two parts can be affected: Notebok display or graphic card itself.

Easiest way to check this is connecting an external monitor. If the external monitor is ok the graphic card is affected. Otherwise the notebook display must be exchanged.

Would be grateful for any advice to remove the back panel.

I've removed battery, ~16 screws + 1 tiny screw at the optical drive and whilst it does 'unclick' everywhere else, there seems to be something stopping the panel being removed just above the battery compartment and don't want to force it.

Even our IT guys at work cannot work it out.

PLEASE new laptop is very slow so have purchased RAM but can't access the back.

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-30D: How to access back panel after ~16 screws removed

At first I must say that you should not remove bottom cover alone because it will cancel valid warranty. If there is no RAM cover, RAM should be exchanged or upgraded by authorized personal only.

I know every of us think it is easy to do and want to do this alone.
What I know is follow:
2 screws in the middle are fixing the keyboard. What must be removed are 14 screws and small flat screw at the optical drive. That’s all. There is no other hidden screw.

Of course there are also small plastic holders and bottom cover must be removed very gently.

I've only noticed today that when I turn up my laptop's volume up to about 28 (even with headphones in), there's this high pitch noise that comes from the speakers. And I'm sure it's the speakers and not anything else.
But the sound is sort of that real ear-killing noise so I can't listen to it for long. It even sometimes sounds like thousands of crickets - a complete nightmare

But with my volume at any level below 28 I can listen to whatever through headphones without the sound bothering me.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I do know a thing or two about computers but nothing about anything extremely technical and I'm not sure if I want to take it apart, unless I really have to.

If you could help me it would be appreciated!

Hi, I bought a newer revision of the Y50 that supposedly had all the errors fixed with it acc to my chats with Customer support (it left the factory at the end of June this year) I saw some flickering lines a couple days ago but it disappeared and assumed it was just something random. Today i opened it and red and black lines randomly flickered horizontally across the screen, and then the whole screen was shaded red. I am trying to figure out what the heck this could be, and as I am now overseas on deployment I am doubly worried the international limited warranty will not cover this and I will have to pay through the nose to fix this. Has anyone ever seen anything like this and knows how i can fix it ? is it a simple case of a connector thats not seated properly? Thanks in advance!

My Laptop is 13 months old Dell I7 5558, i was facing this screen flicker issue previously ,where i got my Laptop Screen replaced by you ,but now I'm facing the same issue .
Previously before replacing i used to have just few flicker, now flicker rate got increased even more & Screen Goes black which is really annoying.
Even at the logo Screen I 'm seeing Green & pink lines
Sometimes nothing appears on the screen just  flicker of Green & pink lines & black Screen After that.Where i should  to remove my battery  & place it ,to turn on my laptop in this case.
Problem is not related to software, if that was the case flicker should not be at dell logo screen.
But FYI my Graphic Card Drivers are already up to date.
I Guess the problem is at the hinges or with the monitor or maybe related to mother board itself.
when my laptop screen is less than 90 degree i can see few flicker, when it 90 degrees or more than that ,continuous flicker & black screen later as like monitor looses power nothing .

Any Other Information Required let me know.

Hi there,

I developed a problem with my desktop pc yesterday. I was gaming and the screen began to flicker then the game crashed - citing "rendering device lost". I tried to re-load this again and the same thing happened again, this time with a BSOD. I tried a different game and the same thing occured, took slightly longer though. Given it was late I went to bed.

Today on loading up the sign in screen was flickering lots, I entered my password and was met by a black screen. The computer continued to make fan noises as if it was working, but nothing on my screen. This happened again. On restaring my computer the crash report read

"Blue Screen.

BCP4 B00000000

I've looked at the bug dump, but I was silly and did a system restore before this, so there's no bug dump.

The computer starts and runs fine in safe mode and without the graphics card in.

Since I've done a system restore
Cleaned everything again ( was pretty dust free to start)
Uninstalled and re-installed the graphics card drivers
Re-seated RAM and GPU
Done a memory diagnostic on my RAM

Hello everyone,Recently, I got a Lenovo yoga 14(with Nvidia Geforce 940m and intel(R) HD Graphics 5500) on windows 10. I have one problem with it which is the screen flickers on and off if I have software such as store, bing news, google chrome and microsoft word open on maximised screen. I've tried turning down the resolution, turning of panel self-refresh and updating the video drivers, but it didn't work. Also I've noticed that when the screen is flickering the mouse moves back to the centre of the screen. Instead of pushing the maximised button, if I drag the borders of the software window and make it full screen, it doesn't flicker at all. Some advice would be much appreaciated, Roger

I've followed the trouble shooter instructions for display problems, namely a flickering and jerky display and audio but haven't had any luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:Satellite A10 - flickering/jerky DVD playback

I had the same problem on my 1800-814 which seems to have insufficient resources to play a DVD under normal conditions without hiccuping. I got it to play smoothly by turning off almost every other program that was showing in the bottom right toolbar.
If that's not enough you could see if you can find anything else running that's not vital for the moment in the Windows Task Manager.

I have got a problem with my notebook.
My Display flickers and all bright colours are green and purple.

First I tried to repair it by myself:

Update Drivers
Uninstall old drivers
Change the settings of the graphic card and so on

I think my graphic chip is destroyed but i hope there is an other solution!

Thanks for every solution!

(PS: I ve got Windows XP MCE 2)

Answer:Satellite P100-485 - Display is flickering

Have you tried an external monitor on the notebook?
If the internal monitor not works it?s a graphic card and/or mainboard problem and the mainboard must be replaced.
If the internal monitor work it?s a problem of the internal display this must be replaced.

Have you installed the driver from the Toshiba website?

Sorry but this has been annoying me for a couple of days now. Every few minutes the little green light by my F11 key flickers so I can't type anything!
I then spend ages trying to press the FN + F11 key to no avail and then FN key on its own and various other combinations until eventually the light goes away,

Does anybody know if this is a hardware problem and would i need to take my laptop in or is it something simpler?!

Answer:F11 Key light flickering green on Satellite L

Is it happening when you are typing fast? Maybe the Fn button is being pressed accidentally instead of CTRL or ALT.

Have a Satellite L640 with a corrupted flickering display - lots of random horizontal lines.

A quick clip of the problem is here: []

An external monitor functions fine, reboots don't help. I haven't yet tried to disassemble it to check connections.

Of course, it's 7 months out of warranty!

Because an external screen displays OK, I'll start with checking the cable connection to mobo, followed by a replacement inverter board. Other opinions gratefully received . . .

Answer:Flickering Display on Satellite L640

If everything works perfectly on external monitor the situation is clear: there is some problem with display or connection cable.

Just one question: have you noticed this behaviour from the first moment when notebook is switched on?

Hi !
If I work long time with my Notebook, the Display begins flickering.

When I move the Display Cover see-saw, the failure disappears.

Does somebody has an Idea what wrong with my Machine ?

My laptop Dell Inspiron 15R 5520(Core i3 2370M 6GB ram win 7 64bit)  worked perfectly from Nov2012-April2016.

Now the screen started flickering and jumping since a few days and there's a white dotted line that appears along the top of the screen that starts the minute there is any kind of display.
How do I figure out if the inverter on the screen is faulty or if it's the screen cable or the whole screen itself?
To satisfy my curiosity I opened up my laptop to find that the lcd cable was badly crushed under the screen hinge (definitely , a design/manufacturing issue! Will dell take responsibility?), and each time the screen was shut/open there was substantial pressure on the cable was what I noticed.
Unfortunately I'm out of warranty and I don't know what to do.
Please advise on fixing this issue.

Answer:My Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 screen suddenly started flickering and the screen jumps 1inch every couple of seconds and is very annoying.

same problem.
I've already tried deactivating adaptive screen light.
seems incompatibility with windows 10

Dear Lenovo community, In September 2014 I bought a Z50-70, and a few months ago after I installed Windows 10 several problems started.  First of all, whenever I start the laptop, or after I move it, half of screen (left side) stops working (shows lines and switches colours while I switch tabs), but it sometimes gets fixed after I push right on the place where the cable is connected with the screen (1-2 cm left of the middle of the screen; bottom part). Secondly, the screen sometimes flickers and at times it starts to go fully white until I move it. I don't know whether the problem is the screen, the cable, or there's also some software problem (the updated to Windows 10 maybe?). Could anyone please help me with this issue? Thanks very much.

Good Day technical dudes.

I have recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L500D

I'm using a HP L1910 external 19" LCD monitor.

The problem I am having is that I can see the monitor flickering. Particularily darker colours. I change the hertz settings and the resolution and still no change. How do i fix?

Note: With the 2 previous p'c the laptop worked fine. So I know its not the monitor

Answer:Satellite L500 - External monitor flickering

Does this also happen on battery mode or only with connected AC/DC adaptor? I have founded a similar thread here in forum that the problem was the AC/DC adaptor due a grounding issue.

Furthermore use a high quality cable. You can get it from your local computer dealer.

Check this!!

I have a Satellite Pro A200-CH7 and have the same problem with my external monitor.

It's a Viewsonic 22" VX2262WM and I see flickering in the display. I tried the monitor on another laptop and it worked well.
The issue is the graphics card my Toshiba laptop.

Answer:Satellite Pro A200-CH7 - flickering on external monitor

Maybe the flickering could be related to the bad earthing?
Sometimes this could affect the external display.

Please check if the problem go away if you disconnect the AC Adapter from the notebook

Hi all,

I bought Satellite U400-157 laptop from week ago. When I connect the laptop to external moniter with charger plugged in the external monitor is flicker (display a horizontal line). When I unplugged the charger the flickering is disappear.

I tried the following possibilities with no solution:

1. connect the laptop to different monitors (BENQ 20", ViewSonic 17", and old VGA monitor)
2. using both 3 and 2 connectors power cable for both labtop and monitor.
3. using thicker VGA cable.
4. using another charger.
5. finally I went to the seller and ask him to try another laptop with same model and the shock was it has the same problem.

So can I consider this is a DEFECT in this model or there is a solution for this problem?

Please help

Answer:External monitor flickering on Satellite U400-157

Hmm? I doubt this issue could be related to the U400?
I use the U400 too and I?ve connected it to the external Samsung LCD monitor using the HDMI port and the screen does not flicker.

I have also found this thread about the similar issue with Tecra M5

The guy means that this could be also a notebook problem but after several tastings, he founds out that power cable that came with the external monitor was dodgy.

However, maybe your ASP should check the notebook and the hardware?

I've had my Satellite Pro L40 for about a week, and today the Toshiba dvd player has begun flashing/flickering during playback.
It's unwatchable!

Does anybody know why this is?

Answer:Satellite Pro L40: Toshiba DVD player flashing / flickering

Never heard about this. Have you tried with alternative players like VLC player?

Any monitor is flickering on my laptop, and no, I have not got a HDMI output on this one.

Which means this: does not apply.

Shall I just return it? Is there a fix, or should I get my money back?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite U400-15Q: external monitor flickering

Did you really try all instructions posted by Haider?
I mean another VGA cable, AC/DC adaptor, monitors and so far.

Try to update the BIOS and the display driver. Both you can find on the Toshiba website: => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

If it doesn?t work you should go an ASP. The technicians can help you to solve this problem.
I?m pretty sure that this issue can be solved because a friend of me has a Satellite U400 too and he doesn?t have any problems by using an external monitor. :)

Hello guys,

I'm from Austria, so my english isn't the best...

I have a problem with my display,
I've worked as i do it the last days and suddenly the white areas on the screen goes pink and it is flickering a little bit, the other colours aren't right too

The graphic card id not the problem, because if I work with an beamer, the beamer screen show me a beautiful picture!!
What could be the problem?

Thanks koyyote

Answer:Satellite A100-733 - Display pink/flickering

> What could be the problem?
What do you think?
I mean if the external monitor or let?s say your projector works it could be only an internal LCD display issue.
So I think the internal display of your notebook must be replaced.

In your case I would go to the nearest authorized service provider that you can find on the Toshiba European page. The notebook technicians can order a new LCD and exchange it for your. After this your notebook will run properly. :)
