Satellite C50-A-1CK double characters appear when typing

Question: Satellite C50-A-1CK double characters appear when typing

All
I have a brand new Satellite C50-A-1CK which is perfect for my needs EXCEPT I continually get double characters appearing on screen when typing which is:
A. VERY frustrating
B. Wasting a lot of time as I have to keep correcting words to remove the duplicate characters.

Please does anyone know of a fix for this? It can affect any key on the keyboard and it doesn't matter if I type slow or quick, press the keys firmly or as light as possible.

Have checked for firmware updates but none available.

Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite C50-A-1CK double characters appear when typing

Hi

I hope that someone can help you and me on this!

I have used other machines for years, I am a reasonably competent typist but have suffered the same problem on my Satellite C850 and it drives me mad.

Also the ease with which using the touchpad to move the cursor about results in the machine selecting the settings sidebar for Windows 8 by mistake.

I have tried changing the keyboard sensitivity within windows but this does not seem to help - just slows the keyboard right down.

Really frustrating

Hi, hoping someone here can help me...

Toshiba Satellite A60-106 running Windows XP is missing characters when I type. If I type very very slowly then every key works fine. At normal typing speed numerous letters are dropped. This happens in every application and does not seem load-dependent. The key repeat rate is also slower than it should be (I know how to set this; the problem is not with the setting but with the fact that the setting is not being honoured or recognised properly).

Virus/spyware scan reports clean. The problem began suddenly for no apparent reason and does not seem to be associated with any hardware or software changes. Tried starting in safe mode, tried disabling all non-essential services/startup progams via msconfg but to no avail; problem still there.

Laptop has historically suffered badly from overheating, but this problem is not obviously related as it's the same whether the machine is hot or cold.

Any ideas?

Answer:Re: Satellite A60-106 - Dropping characters when typing

Have you installed drivers for an external Keyboard or Mouse? (for example Logitech or Microsoft)

If you boot into MSDOS, does it still drop characters? You can download a DOS bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com

What BIOS Version is installed? Do you have the latest version?

For some reason, there always seem to be a second delay on the keys on the keyboard, including the numeric keypad. Many times, either a character was skipped or the character showed up twice.
Vey frustrasting as I always have to go back to add or delete a character.

When I run a word program in safe mode, it works fine. Someone told me it may be a software issue as the problem does not occur in safe mode.
I am very careful with the laptop as I am sure there was no spill.

Any comment is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

My Satellite C55-B803 laptop keyboard has started typing double letters all of a sudden.

When I press "a" it comes as "aa"and when I press backspace both "aa"are gone. On screen keyboard works fine. I have tried all possible ways..cleaning keyboard and changing keyboard settings also.

Pls do help ..

Answer:Keyboard on my Satellite C55-B803 is typing double letters

Does the same issue happen if you would use external USB keyboard?

If external USB keyboard would work properly, the double letters problem is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.
Then there is just one solution: keyboard replacement.

When typing in MS Word / Outlook / Excel the double quote marks (or single quote marks) fail to appear on the 1st key entry
Both quotes appear on 2nd key entry
This also allows special characters to be displayed (eg: " + e places double dots over the e).
This has to be a setting somewhere ??? Only English Language is enabled ???
Appreciate a pointer as to which setting to disable
Thanks.

Toshiba Satellite Pro C660

Since we bought this laptop in November '10 it has had an intermittent problem with typing. Occasionnally the keyboard will either miss out characters typed or double type them. It can happily do this all day and then stop and go back to normal.
We have restored this back to factory settings and it still does it intermittently. Our IT man insists this is a software problem but has been unable to find out what it is.

Bizaarly we bought two of these laptops at the same time and they both have the same fault.

Hello Everyone!
I have a problem with my brand new L20 missing out a lot of characters when I am typing. After searching around the forums, it seems that a few people are also having this problem. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in fixing this problem yet.

As far as I know, the problem only seems to be in WinXP, (I dual-boot with Linux Slackware 10.2 and don't notice the problem there) and I *think* it might have something to do with the internet. I say this because it is only really noticable for me when I am online, writing emails etc... (Writing to this forum takes a lot of error correcting) :)

Has anyone else been able to isolate when this problem is at its worse?

Also, is it possible to group together all the people who are having this same problem into one thread? I think there are about 3 separate threads where people have mentioned this problem, it would be nice to get everyone together to see if we can fix this.

I brought this notebook for programming, and as you can imagine I dare not try try any coding while this is happening, as it would cause toooooo many problems :)
So please, any help, hints, tips, advice or solutions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Lee

I've got one of these Logitech mouse/keyboard wireless combis. Last night the keyboard started playing up. Hitting either the T or V keys types both characters. Its the same with C or E and N and U. Other keys cause windows to open, among other random happenings. Rather annoying as some of these characters are in my log on password. If I did not have the Wacom on screen keyboard at startup I would have been up the creek. Running Vista Home Premium. I have changed batteries, and tonight I will try it with a bog-standard keyboard. if this is ok I suppose its time to ditch the Logitech and get a new one. Just wandered if anyone had any ideas.

Answer:Typing several characters with one keystroke

Most browsers have the ability to remember or in some cases predict the username and password of a site you are trying to log in to.

If you tell me which browser you are using will point you to the relevant tutorial on how to set it up.

Also having your password mapped to a key on your keyboard is not a good idea in terms of security.

If you are still interested in mapping multiple letters or words to a single key it may be worth looking at Keyboard Layout Manager - Keyboard Editor Window (I'm not 100% sure it will let you assign multiple characters to one key but I think it can)

There are a mix of ideas here:http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-...Do not update the BIOS though unless you are certain that is the issue (rare) - get it wrong and you need a new motherboard.EDIT:If nothing there helps it might be a keyboard driver issue. If so, go to "Device Manager" and expand out the Keyboards entry. Right click your keyboard and then Uninstall. Do NOT check any box you see about removing the software. The above is not the usual uninstall, it just disengages the software from the hardware. Answer:windows live mail typing characters

I'm not that familiar with Windows Mail but suspect that it is seeing your character combination as a request for a smiley. You may be able to point to the symbol, right click and see if there is a 'remove smiley' option. Failing that, try using square or curly brackets ([ or {) as a work around.

When I create a basic table in Ms Powerpoint 2003 with 2 colums/2 rows, some letters are sometimes spaced properly and sometimes not:

For ie, the word "Settlement" in the attached powerpoint document -> The 1st time Settlement is typed, there is no issue
at all. But the 2nd time it is typed, the letter <t> and the letter <l> are squizzed together. Then the 3rd time it is typed, it is fine. Same issue occurs with other words (for ie the word <test> may be fine the 1st time it is typed, then you type it a 2nd time, you get that issue of the letters <s> and <t> squizzed together.

See the attachments (they are the screenshots of the issue)

Suddenly as of this morning multiple keys on my laptop type their own key but also other characters. It mostly is just additional symbols rather than letters and tends to be the characters next door which they type.

For example:
1) typing 'p' gives 'p['
2) typing '0' gives '0-'
3) typing '-' gives '0-' also
4) typing '.' gives './'
5) typing '/' gives './' also
6) typing ';' gives ';''
7) and vice versa
Also num pad is not working!

So in short it's like a number of adjacent keys have become fused to each other.

I have tested this and it occurs in all programs and windows. On screen keyboard works fine though.

I have so far uninstalled the device driver rebooted and let it reinstall - changed nothing.

Can anybody help?
Thanks

Answer:Laptop keys also typing adjacent characters

Do you have another keyboard you can plug in and try? That will tell you if it's the keyboard (problem will not show with replacement) or the keyboard-to-PC interface (problem will persist with replacement). If you don't have an extra yourself, maybe you can borrow one from a friend /family/colleague/neighbor...?

My windows XP is English version, and installed with Japanese language package. In control panel the "Language for non-Unicode programs" are set to Japanese, other options of "Regional and Language Options" are as default English.
My C program use windows API _putch in <conio.h> to output to cmd console. Then the Japanese double byte characters got corruption, even chcp of cmd.exe is 932. Strange is that, when "Standards and formats" option set to Japanese, the output displays well.
I don't why, since I read the Configurable Language and Cultural Settings, which says "The only language effect of the user locale is the names of the days and months."
Did I used a wrong function, any other than _putch could work?

Answer:Double bytpe characters are corrupted in cmd output

I don't know what any of that means? Can you be a little clearer? Are you saying you can't open a command prompt?

After switching my Samsung N150 on I could not log on at Win 7 start page. By using either a usb keyboard or the onscreen keyboard option I could enter the password but not via the netbook keyboard. For instance pressing q = qw, 9 = o9 and so on. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard driver. Tried system restore point. Numlock is not on. Machine is two months old. No malware (malwarebytes scan) and no virus (AVG full scan).

Answer:Netbook keystrokes return double characters

Back up your files and return it for repair or replacement under warranty. With a machine as new as that, you don't want to try much more than you have already tried. If it is a simple problem, the store will fix it and hand it back to you, but if it is more major, insist on getting a new one and have them transfer over your files and do a factory restore to wipe off your stuff from the old one.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi,
As stated above in the questionnaire, my system was sluggish and I ran my PCMatic scan which would stop running about 40% through the scan. I ran Malwarebytes (free) with no issues found. Removed PCMatic and installed AVG (free) which found some issues and cleaned them up but performace wasn't improved much. My keyboard then began to act quirky by characters not appearing or the cursor jumping around or nothing will happen but the "system busy wheel" pops up for a few seconds before characters appear on the screen.

I came back to you guys because TwinHeadedEagle was so effective at helping me with my desktop 18 mos ago that I was hoping for help.

Thanks, regards and please advise if I can once again get some assistance,
Sandy Lanz

Answer:Strange behavior like typing & no characters appear, cursor jumps randomly

Hello,
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Machine approaching three years old and not continually used. A couple of weeks ago, it started missing characters when typing or it will type two characters and then highlight them so when you type again the first two characters are gone. Does this on both the on screen and laptop keyboard. Tried an external keyboard and it too acted the same way.
Here's what I've done - run diagnostics (no issues), downloaded and installed most recent BIOS, chipset, video and all other drivers. Have also in Device Manager deleted keyboards and rebooted with no change. All Windows 10 updates are installed.
Most of the time I have it plugged in and charge set to only charge when battery is approaching low.
Have not removed the battery and keeping it as a last option.
Any ideas?

I've used W8.1 for sometime and this morning I was surprised to find that typing any character in many programs (for example Live Mail or Chrome) produces a floating menu of alternate chinese characters and won't allow me to have Western original typed on the keyboard. I tried one Registry fix for WLM but it didn't work as a value changed to 0 reset itself everytime to 1.
Any ideas where to look to fix this? It's actually impossible to use the effected laptop as data entry of any kind is now effectively defeated.

Answer:Typing any character now produces floating menu of chinese characters

Solved......I went to Control Panel > Languages and saw Chinese had appeared after my default English. No idea why, it just had. So I highlighted and pressed the option to Remove.

HELP!! EEverything I type shows up as doubled letters. lliikkee tthhiiss. I have adjusted my keyboard settings, but when I went back on the web it keeps doing it

Answer:double typing letters

There is no one fix that takes care of all of these.
A couple points:
- Make sure the battery in your keyboard is fresh (if it's wireless)
- If your keyboard and mouse are both wireless, make sure they both have good batteries.
- If they each run off separate dongles, and they are the same brand, try unplugging one dongle at a time and see if it helps or changes.
- there have been some machines (HP), that have had actual hardware problems with the keyboards.

Fixing this online could be unmanageable, or it may need a hardware expert.
It's always possible it's caused by some kind of malware related corruption, but I doubt it.
You could also try going into Control Panel > Keyboard and changing the settings for delay and repeat rate, etc. to see if it helps..
(That is probably what you meant by your "settings", so it's not likely to help).

I have a new Kaby Lake I7 XPS 13. I have 2 issues.
First is poor battery life (balanced plan 50% display brightness getting  about 4 hours)
The second issue is the keyboard. It all works perfectly apart from every fourth or fifth word it adds an extra space between words. I see this has been an issue for other Dell laptops in the past.
I've updated all drivers and the BIOS from the website so everything is up to date.
Anyone else seen issues like this and know of a solution?

Hi! I'm kinda out of ideas.
So earlier today all of a sudden my pc started to whenever I typed the following symbols : "" '' ~~ ^^
They were typed double. so whenever I typed one of those symbols it came out as two symbols.
which meant I can't do apostrophes and all that good stuff.
This has never happend to me before and I didn't change anything about my pc at all.
I even switched keyboards and it still had the same issue.

Answer:Keyboard typing double symbols

Sounds like a driver problem. Try this:
Using Only a Mouse

Click the Windows "Start" button, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage" to open the Computer Management window. Select "Device Manager" from the pane on the left. Expand the Keyboards section, right-click on the keyboard you want to repair and choose "Uninstall." Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Restart." When your computer boots up, Windows will detect your keyboard and install the driver.
Hopefully that may solve your problem.

On my two new Lenovo Yoga 900 machines, there is an issue with typing where letters occasionally appear doubled. It's a real pain and the only thing I don't like about the machine. It's not the way I type, my wife has the exact same model Yoga and has the same problem. It occurs about once a paragraph, so it's not constant, and I can't find any way to duplicate it. It just seems random.

This is not a new issue with Lenovo I found out, but the solution I have seen at mmultiple places online is to set the Enable Repeat Key settings. This means there is a slight pause between accepting a second letter, and even though I type very fast, it still works well EXCEPT this also means there will be a pause when I do things like using the arrow keys to scroll.  For example, if I want to highlight this sentence to delete it, I will usually hold the shift key, and the hold down the left arrow and let it scroll back to the first word. This takes a lot longer with the Enable Repeat Key setting. Also,, sometimes I scroll up using the up arrow and that also is affected when I add a pause to Enable Repeat Key. This just shouldn't be. In all my previous systems I have never had this, and it's particularly disappointing given how much I like this machine, and that fact that I have seen online that this has occurred on previous Lenovo models as well.

Maybe a .1 second pause would work, but the minimum setting I can choose in Settings is .3 which is too slow.&nb... Read more

Worst laptop ever. This is my 3rd time trying to find solutions for this laptop. It won't turn on AGAIN. Am I really supposed to remove the battery and replace it every time I want to use my computer. I just got this laptop and barely use it because of all of the issues. It either won't turn on, or it double types the letters when I type on it. I'm writing this post from my cell phone. It's too late to return it to the store, and whenever I mention warranty or replacement, HP gives me these stupid take the battery out and drain the laptop quick fixes that DO NOT WORK. I'm too broke to buy a new laptop, and why should I have to, I worked hard, saved my money, and bought this one so it would make writing papers and getting through school easier... if you have any other solutions, other than the multiple other solutions already offered that did not work, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Answer:laptop keyboard not typing double letters or

First try System restore to any date before the incident (preferably a few days or a week). If that does not work, uninstall the keyboard in device manager and restart, that should allow windows to reinstall the drivers. The cat probably hit a strange combination of keys like ctrl+Shift+something else and you could look all day and not find the options to correct it directly. One of these should help. In the future, put the system into sleep if you walk away for a few minutes (or close the lid), Hibernate if for longer, and shut down for hours or overnight. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a possibility to boost up your frequency of repetition with keyboard. I mean holding for example key "a" will make series "aaaaaaa...." faster with smaller delay. If it's not possible I was also thinking about double key command (or something) - pressing "a" will make series "aaaaaaa..." twice faster. I add also a pic of keyboard setting that allows me to boost it a little bit. Sorry for bad english im really trying to improve my language skill, hope for help!

I have had an issue with my Yoga 3 Pro from the day I first bought it less than a year ago.  I get random double letters when typping.  It's reallyy irritating.  I've gone into windows settings and chaged the filter keys settings to try and captue some of the typing issues and double letters with no success.  As you can see in a prrevious (and just now) sentence, this is a random and prevalent problem.  I can not seem to address it.  Has anyone else had this problem or is there a solution?  I've updated to the most recent bios due to several battery problems I'm also having but that's for another thread.  Haven't been very happy with this product since I purchased it because of the issues that plague it.  Hoping they are just software issues and patches are in the worrks.   Just typing these two paragraphs above lent to 4 instances of double letters.  Please help. Thanks.

Answer:getting double letters when typing on Yoga 3 Pro 1370

You've gone to keyboard properties in the control panel, adjusted the repeat delay and it affects the cursor? That is strange indeed. I do seem to get a few more double letters on shallow keyboards found on slim devices than keyboards with longer travel, but I chock that off as a cost of slim. Still, it shouldn't be too bad.

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. Hi

Since few days I have Satellite P 100. The unit is very nice and I like it very much but I have noticed one negative keyboard issue and it disturbs me on my work. Very often I must write long reports and I try always to write it fast but I am always surprised when I see that many characters are missing.

I really don?t know what is wrong there but it is very annoying and it takes always long time to correct whole written text.
Does anybody of you have the same problem on P100? Please let me know if someone of you has solution for that!!!

Thanks

Answer:Missing characters on Satellite P100

Hello Sascha

I can understand you but please don?t worry about that. For a short time one other user has reported this issue on this forum. It is solved with new BIOS - Version 2.10 from 27.7.2006.

This BIOS update you can find on Toshiba Europe page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Click on ?Support & Downloads? > ?Support Homepage? > ?BIOS Update? (Download). When the BIOS download page is open choose your notebook model and make BIOS update. For P100 there are three different models listed. Please be sure that you have chosen the right one.

I hope that your problem will be solved and you can write your reports without correction.

Good luck!

I tried several combinations using the "FN", Overlay and "ALT" keys, without any success.
What's the solution? The user's guide is no help.

In particular, I'd like to enter the character "?" (Alt+0223 or Alt+225).
I do not want to use the Windows 8 character map.

Can anyone please help ?

Thank you very much

Answer:Satellite NB10-A-10V - How can I enter ASCII characters

Inserting ACII characters depends always on the software you are using.

_For example_ in Microsoft Word to insert the ASCII characters you have to press and hold down ALT while typing the character code.

*NOTE:* You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers and not the keyboard.
Make sure that the NUM LOCK key is on if your keyboard requires it to type numbers on the numeric keypad.

Hello,

I am having problems with my Satellite M30. It shows random characters or signs over the picture. Other than that computer is running fine. I thought that it might have been virus, because I can see the Toshiba and Centrino Logo fine, it starts happening when it loads Windows.

So I reinstalled it but random characters came up on the screen even during the installation. Can somebody advise, what this could be?

My thoughts are either bad graphics card or ribbon cable from MOBO to LCD.

>So I reinstalled it but random characters came up on the screen even during the installation. Can somebody advise what this could be? My thoughts are either bad graphics card or ribbon cable from MOBO to LCD.

For me it looks also like a GPU malfunction... what you could is to connect the external monitor to this notebook. If the same strange signs, characters will be visible on the second screen then the GPU is faulty...

Well, this would be the worst case because the whole motherboard must be replaced if a GPU chip malfunctions...

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 that has broken down. When the system starts up, the Toshiba logo seems to have a few dots here and there. When it displays messages on the screen during startup, the characters seems to be corropted. For example the message "Insert system disk", the I and T of the word insert seems to be from the upper half of the ASCII characters. The S from system is the "less than or equal to sign". and The k of the work disk is {. I have already done the following:

- tried booting with one of my two memory card and I tried for both memory cards.
- swapped my memory card.
- reloaded windows and Linux

I did drop the computer once but has worked OK for a month after I dropped it. I have deleted the operating systems but now it seems to have problems loading an operatig system from CD (CD works OK). Anyone has any idea what is wrong?

Thanks
Peter Loo

Answer:Satellite Pro M10 displays currupt characters on startup

Hi

You have suggested that the notebook dropped down two times.
Well, you can try to connect the external monitor to the notebook to find out if it?s a screen fault or a graphic card malfunction.

You have problems with the OS installation? Maybe there is something wrong with the drive and the HDD. But possibly only looses connection is responsible for the problems. Check the pins.

It?s possible that the screen and the other devices was damage because of the dropping down.

Hi!

I have a new satellite L670 D13 with a problem. I tested Windows 7 64 bit and dos. I think the problem is BIOS problem but my BIOS version is a last bios version 1.5 (on satellite L670 D13)

error test.
press one key and hold down.
the typing stop every sec and resume

Answer:Satellite L670-D13 - Keyboard dobules or missing characters

hi,

have you tried with the external usb keyboard? I have read many threads about keyboard problems belonged to satellite l series. In some threads, updating Bios could solve it, disabling Microsoft ACPI (under Battery item in device manger) but after restart starts misprinting again. My personnel advice, go to the store and replace with new one.

I have just purchased a P100 to find that some key strike characters are not assigned to the correct keys. How can this be corrected?

Answer:Characters are not assigned to the correct keys on Satellite P100

In control panel ---> regional and Language options ---> advanced settings ---> code page conversion tables
there you can select the unicode standards for your system. Common fault, you own a "U.S. keyboard" but have assigned "English (United Kingdom)"

If this won't fix your problem, come back here to search for a different reason.

Hello!
I have a lap top C50 / PSCG6E model.
Since a few weeks back my keyboard is a mess.
When i press key 1 the result on the screen becomes z1
Pressing key 2 gives <2
Key for ? give _?

If i press key for letter "u", then the curser jumps all over the screen and also for key letter "i"

Writing in an url-adress somewhere and if the adress contains letter i then suddenly a long string of words appear!! I can't type letter i.

I have tried all kind of actions to solve this and nothing seems to help.
I hand windows 10 installed.

Do anyone know what the problem is, my laptop is almost unuseable now.

BR Acke

Hello guys, My oldies notebook Satellite Pro 410 CDT, with BIOS updated to v6.20, which I am trying to install as SO w98se. I have a few problems that I do not manage to solve:

1. I have formatted a HDD of 4.3 GB of a libretto 70 CT, in two partitions one of 814 Mb and other one with the rest. In the partition D, the major one I have copied all the drivers of 410 as well as w98se to proceed to his installation. These options I did it in the tower Pc with Partion Magic and the explorer of Windows XP.

Reinstalled the HDD in 410 CDT, the screen shows me the following message:

" THIS BASIC WAS ABORTED BECAUSE THIS MACHINE IS NOT ROM BASIC I USED TOSHIBA'S BASIC "
However much I have looked in manual there is not done any reference to this message, can they say to me that it happens?.

2. When I format the HDD in another Pc I must reserve an empty space in in order that it is a system do his copies in way of hibernation?. That is to say, in the Libretto 70 and 100, they save themselves 32 MB at the end of the HDD. All that I owe resevar for 410 cdt and in that place?.

3. When I start the portable one with a bootdisk of windows 98 without ramdisk, which allows me to load the most basic thing in MSDOS, I verify that the keyboard does not act as owes, that is to say, some keys they show on screen characters that do not correspond to them, others prove to be two or three simultaneously, others do not do anything supporting the fixed cursor, for example, if tou... Answer:Broken keyborad on Satellite Pro 410cdt? Wrong characters are shown

Hi

I?m not 100% about the point one because I have never seen such error message but I have investigated in the internet and somewhere has suggested that such error can appears because the booting partition was not activated or not active.

2.) I don?t think that you need to reserve any place on the HDD for the hibernation mode. In the hibernation mode all data and settings are saved to the local file. It?s a part of the OS.

3.) For me it?s not easy to say if the keyboard is wrong or only the software environment cannot detect the functionality of the keyboard buttons properly. To be sure if the keyboard works properly you should test it in the Windows OS

Hi,

Last week, I bought my first laptop - a C660.
A few days after I bought it, I noticed that it was typing doubles of characters or missing characters out completely.
Now, it might just be that I'm adjusting to the keyboard, but I was wondering if there's been any problems with the keyboards?

Answer:Satellite C660: keyboard issue - doubles or missing characters

hi,

maybe, there is a keyboard hardware defect. Do you run Os with factory settings? otherwise, contact the service center. they will fix it for free.

Model PSPQ8A-00H008.

The laptop was set to auto-update when turning off. I turned it off at about 8:30pm and the screen message stated "installing update 1 of 34. Do not turn off computer". I checked again at about 11:00pm and the same message was there. I let the computer run over night and at about 9:00 am it still stated "installing update 1 of 34.

Do not turn off computer".

I turned off the computer, waited about 5 minutes and turned it back on. The initial Toshiba start screen appeared and then changed to a range of characters, some geometric, some mathematical, some from other scripts.
I turned it off and tried again. Same result.

I removed the battery, waited, then reinserted the battery.
I re-entered the general data (time/date) and security data (entered new passwords).

I restarted the computer. Same result.
Advice please.
