Preferred Solution: Which WLAN card has Satellite C70D-A (PSCENE)?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Which WLAN card has Satellite C70D-A (PSCENE)?

It must have Realtek RTL8188EE WLAN card inside.
Can you find right driver for it?

Hi everyone,

I've recentlly bought a new WLAN card Intel 5300 (533AN_MMW) for my Satellite A200-1CG (PSAE3E...). I've installed a new card without any problem, downloaded and installed new (Win7) drivers too.
The problem is that the Wlan led does not lit at all. So I see that the card is normally working in device manager, but can not establish a wireless connection, because the device manager reports that the WLAN switch is switched off.

Is there a special way to open the wireless card slot on a Satellite L30 or do i just have to use a USB wireless adapter..... because the slot is there but i cant open it and the USB one is annoying.

thanks for the help....

Answer:Satellite L30 - How to open the Wireless card slot to upgrade the Wlan card

there is no special way. Just 2 screws..
So, if you have a mini-pci wlan card, then you can open the cover, insert it and use it. But be aware from loosen more screws than needed. :)

And if you?re not able to open it, then you will have to use your annoying usb-adapter. ;)

I have got a Satellite P10-304 this model doesn't seem to have a wireless car fitted. Can you tell me what the correct card for this model is, if I could fit it myself and where I could buy one from?

Regards Dave

Answer:Want to install WLAN card into my Satellite P10-304

If your Satellite P10 has PSP10E number you can use follow WLAN cards:
PA3212U-4MPC (Agere 802.11b)
PA3273U-2MPC (Atheros 802.11ab)
PA3300U-1MPC (Atheros 802.11g)
PA3298U-1MPC (Atheros 802.11a/g)

WLAN card installation is very simply. The WLAN card slot is placed under WLAN card cover (bottom side) and placed between ODD and modem cover.

If you do this alone please do it gently and be sure the WLAN antenna cable is connected correctly. If you need more assistance please write again.

I just bought a 2nd hand TOSHIBA SATELLITE 1130-z24 laptop

What wifi card can i use with it.

Answer:Wlan card for Satellite 1130-z24

As far as I know the notebook supports an miniPCI Wlan slot.
So in such case you should be able to use a miniPCI WLan card which supports the 802.11b Wlan standard.

For example the Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2,4GHz, 802.11b) PA3212U-3MPC should be compatible!

Can I replace my Wi-Fi card and how?

Answer:How to exchange WLAN card on Satellite Pro M10?

Usually WLAN card is placed under small cover placed at the bottom side of the notebook or under the keyboard. On Satellite Pro M10 it must be placed under the keyboard.

Keyboard is on most notebook models fixed with three small screws but to see them you must remove plastic part placed between keyboard and display. It must be removed very gently. If you have no experience I really do not know if you should do this alone. If you do not do this on the right way you can damage this plastic cover.

If you will try to do these alone be very gently. After removing screws, remove the keyboard and check where the WLAN card is placed. When you find the card disconnect the two wireless LAN antenna cables (black and white) from the wireless LAN board.
At least open the left and right latches holding the wireless LAN board and remove it.

I hope this short description will help you.

Hi all,

I would like to put a Wireless PCI card in my laptop but don't have a clue what I am looking for.

Please could someone help me out with suggestions, links, recomendations, information or anything that might help me
solve this problem

Answer:Satellite Pro A40: Need minPCI WLan card

One question; Do you have a Wlan switch at the notebooks side?
If not then you will be not able to upgrade this notebook with the minPCI WLan card because you would be not able to enable the Wlan card.

I have checked the internet for some details and it looks the Wi-Fi is Not Available and in my opinion not upgradeable too.

I think it?s a better idea to use an external USB Wlan stick?

I have a Satellite P10-304.
I would like to add a mini pci wireless card.
Can any one tell me which one would suit this machine.

Answer:Satellite P10-304 - What mini pci WLan card can I add?

Do you see Black and White antennas near the Mini PCI Slot?

If not, then you cannot install a Wifi Card. It wont get any reception. You would need to get a USB Wifi Device instead.

If you have antenna's, the Intel 802.11bg card (2200BG) should work.

Its a good idea to buy the card from Toshiba (via an ASP) since the Wifi card may be modified to work properly in the P10.
If you buy a generic MiniPCI Wifi card, the Wifi switch may not function properly.

Is it possible to use the PC card slot for wireless expansion? If so what card do you recommend, i will be connecting to a local LAN.

Answer:Satellite L100-179 - possible to use WLAN PC card?

Of course it should be possible to use a PCMCIA WLan card.
I don?t use such cards but I found some in the net.
I would recommend visiting a notebook dealer. I?m sure you will find many offers.

The other option could be a USB WLan stick. The WLan performance shoudl be the same and it's very easy to use and connect it

I have Toshiba Satellite A100-847. I would like change WIFI card for new one with "n" standard.
I found some tutorials how to do this, however it was for Toshiba A105, very similar to my one.

I've opened bottom cover where is memory and modem but i couldn't see any PCI ports.
Is it possible to do this?
Is it work via miniPCI or is integrated on motherboard?

Answer:Satellite A100-847 - WLan card replacement

The A100 PSAA9E supports a minPCI WLan card which supports the IEEE 802.11a/g WLan standards.
I?m not 100% sure if it could be possible to upgrade the WLan using a minPCI WLan card 802.11 n due to the two antenna cables.
You should firstly clarify if the antenna is compatible with the new 802.11 *N* WLan standard.

The minPCI WLan card must be hidden under the keyboard. So you would have to remove the keyboard firstly to get access to the WLan card.
The WLan card is also connected to two antenna cables. The cables should be removed carefully using a tweezers. Then spread out stoppers securing the wireless LAN card until the card pops up.

Generally it?s not difficult to replace such WLan card but if you have no experience I wouldn?t recommend doing this.
Such replacement should be done by an technician!
Furthermore you warranty validity could be canceled after such upgrade.

I have just purchased a DSL 2870B wireless modem router which supports both 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz.I set up both a 2.4 and 5.0 wireless systems, The one month old Toshiba P870 running W7 (64 Bit) can see and connect to the 2.4 Ghz network but cannot see the 5.0 Ghz network.

So does the Realtek RTL 8723AE support 5 Ghz? If so, what do I have to do to the wireless modem or the Toshiba P870 to get them to communicate at 5.0 Ghz?

I have tried the Realtek website but they do not seem to have any information on the 8723.

Where does the wireless card seat in a Satellite 2450-101 ?
And where can I purchase the card ?
Are other cards compatible with the 2450-101 ?

Answer:Satellite 2450-101 Where WLan card is located

I didn?t find exactly information regarding this oldie but I found some nice details about Sat 2455.
It?s very similar to European Sat 2450-xxx but the Sat 2455 is a US model.

The compatible Wlan cards are:
PA3212U-3MPCR Wireless LAN Card Kit 802.11b (Agere)
PA3273U-1MPC Wireless LAN Card Kit 802.11a/b (Atheros)

I think that the miniPCI slot for Wlan card is hidden somewhere under the keyboard.
So in order to get access to this slot the keyboard must be removed firstly.
Usually it?s secured with 2 screws which are hidden under the think plastic cover.

PS: the miniPCI WLan card has to be connected to the WLan antenna.
There are two wires (black and white). Normally a white cable goes to the MAIN and a black to the AUX

The wifi card died in my toshiba satellite earlier this week, its out of warranty and the toshiba shop wants $200 to replace it with a standard 2.4ghz card.

I have been looking at upgrading it to a 5ghz capable card anyway.
I have found a card which looks good.
I am wondering if my laptop will support it?

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L500-o1u012 and the old card was a Realtek RTL8191SE Wirelss LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC half size mini pcie card.

Answer:New WLan card for Satellite L500-01u012

The description says:

+Killer Wireless-N 1103 adapters support dual bands (2.4 GHz and 5GHz), 3-Stream MIMO and IEEE standards-based 802.11a/b/g/n in a half-size mini-PCIe form factor.+

So it?s a mini-PCI card and in my opinion, the WLan card should be compatible? theoretically?

Answer:Satellite L300 - upgrade of WLan card to 802.11 N

Yes. 802.11 N standard needs three wires Wlan antenna.
Possibly the L300 was equipped only with two wires antenna which is ok if you use Wlan cards which support 802.11 A, B or G standard.

So possibly you could not use the 802.11 N miniPCI WLan card due to not available tree wires antenna.

Answer:Satellite M65-S9092 - Can I upgrade the WLAN card?

I think it should not be a problem to upgrade the WLan card.
As far as I know its an miiPCI WLan card and you would need to use also an WLan card which would support the miniPCI interface.

The WLan card supports two pins for the WLan antenna cable.
Usually you have to connect a white cable to the MAIN and a black to the AUX.

That?s all?

I have a dual boot system with XP and Win7 Pro.

If I install the wireless driver from the downloads site on XP, no problem.

I tried the same procedure using the wireless driver download on the the Win7 partition using a) the XP driver b) the Vista driver & c) the Vista driver in compatibility mode. Nothing has worked and there isn't even a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager, so the wireless card hasn't been recognised at all.

Same problem with Ubuntu Linux.

In XP it is recognised as 'INPROCOMM IPN2220 Wireless Lan Card'.

Any ideas?

The entry in device manager is right and so must be shown in WXP.
This old notebook model is not supported for Win7 and on Toshiba WLAN download section I cannot find driver for Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 WLAN card.
Googling around I saw that many people have the same problem on different old notebook models.

Have you tried to find driver Googling around?

I have a Satellite 110CT notebook (110CT/810 PA1224 YX-EN) which I am trying to get a wireless LAN card to work with in order to connect to my BT home hub. I have tried a modern wireless card bus adapter (GWK150 802.11g) but returned it as the notebook would not see it; no lights showing power on the card either (I run Win98 SE). I know both my card bus slots work as my TDK DF2814 modem card will work in either slot.

Is this notebooks card bus interface compatible with modern wireless LAN cards (32 bit card bus type II) or has the standard changed?

Perhaps I was unlucky and managed to buy a faulty card? Any information on what WLAN or LAN cards or types of card interface are compatible with the 110CT would be very welcome.

Thank You, Robert.

Answer:Which WLAN card works in Satellite 110CT?

Hi Robert

It is not easy to get any info about this 10 years old notebook. The fact is that this unit has PCMCIA slot and you can use 2x Type II cards or 1x Type III card. I can just imagine you must set something in BIOS settings.

Check all BIOS settings and see if there you must change some settings. I also think that you should try to use a little bit older wireless cards. Maybe you expect a little bit too much.

in the recent c't Magazin (germany) there was a very good article about replacing the wlan card with a newer 11n(draft) 300Mbit Card. They said it would require your notebook to have the card accesible (it is) and to have two antennas (it has). 11n can or does use three but it does not require all three.

The mag said, some manufactures prohibit this and present you an bios error if you replace the card, some dont and even provide help and instructions.

So my questions are:

1. Does Toshiba allow me to change the card or do you have to use "tricks"?
2. Does Toshiba offer some original parts to upgrade or do you have to use third party parts?

Thanks for any adivce or help!

Answer:Upgrade WLAN card 11g to 11n on Satellite Pro A300-15U possible?

That?s not so easy.

Look on the notebook bottom side. There is a label and there you should see that WLAN card is built in.
If the card has A/G or B/G standard, then the notebook does not support the N standard because for the new N standard you need 3 antenna cables and the old standard has only 2 antennas.

I hope I could help you a little bit.

So i decided to install a win XP pro edition, a clean installation, not a recovery system, and it worked fine, i started to install all drivers from the support cd and when i arriver to wireless driver i got agais BSOD, so i tried to reboot switching off the wireless and it works perfect.

So, try to switch off your wireless card and tell here what happens.
Now, a friend of mine gave me his old satellite A50, because he got a new one, and his screen is broken, so i could try to change the wireless card,

Could someone help me how to get to end of the black and white wires that are in the board of the ipw2200??

This is because i can login in windows and work perfectly with this. I dont know if your problem is exactly the same.

After i update the driver i switched on the WLAN and i haven't seen the BSOD again, at least in the last five minutes, lol.

There are many different A100 on the market?.
What A100 do you have exactly?

Go to device manager and expand the ?Network adapters?.
If the WLan card is available then you will see it either as Ethernet controller (if no driver has been installed) or as a WLan card (the whole name should appear)

You can also install an hardware diagnostic tool?

Before I go into the details of my problem.
I have rolled out a DSL product, set up hundreds of wireless routers. I was a notebook service tech for 3 years for laptops as well.

I picked up a toshiba cause the price is right, and so far I am learning you get what you pay for.

This machine has a realtek wireless card.
As everyone knows.. Realtek == cheaply made bad hardware.

Toshiba refuses to replace this card.
I need to buy a new card for this laptop.
I need to know if this is a mini-pci, half height mini-pci, a pci-e, or mini-pci-e card.
I plan on getting an intel for it.

I also need the whitepapers so I can remove the wrist pad / bezel on this unit. They have users guides, but unlike other notebook manufacturers, do not have their service manuals available.

Any assistance to get this laptop fixed would be appreciated. It is leaving town with my parents soon.

Answer:Satellite A505-S69803 - How to replace the Wlan card?

hi vlad2,
realtek is also known to run perfekt under linux - this indicates that the hardware isnt so bad as you think...

toshiba sells the unit as specified - if you wanna have some other hardware choose another notebook modell or replace the wlan by yourself...
if unsure what card is in it , open the door under which the card is located - for an notebook tech pro like you no big thing - and check it.
replacing this piece should be easy...

to answer your complaint: +"Toshiba refuses to replace this card."+
sure this! if it works there is no need to replace and you will get allways the same as spare because this modell comes with it...

i dont like it to repeat me but a notebook technician should be able to disassemble this machine (you will ruin your warranty with this action)
disassembling the covers is a service partner thing - not for customers...

by the way: +"I am learning you get what you pay for"+ means what you see is what you get, spending some extra money is not bad at all...
you cant get a mercedes for the price of a little car...

and whats your technical problem with the wlan?

Every piece of official Toshiba documentation mention that the SP6100 has a minipci type 3A slot, so can accommodate both a minipci type 3A and 3B wifi card.
But unfortunately for me, I found out the hard way that it's definitely NOT the case - i've been set back by a fortune in buying costs for an intel minipci type3 wifi card, which DOES NOT fit the laptop at all.

I spent an hour in pointless calls with Toshiba customer support, who I had to convince that PCMCIA is definitely NOT the same as miniPCI, and that the miniPCI cards ARE DEFINITELY replacable by the user. She insisted that it couldnt be changed by the system user, but by toshiba themselves.

Could anyone please please advise me on the type of wifi card that comes built in with the SP6100 laptops? I think it is AGERE branded, as a WLAN minipci card. I know that it definitely IS NOT miniPCI type 3.

Please help! Thank you.
And by the way, every place i have searched so far only appears to sell type3 miniPCI cards,
Are other types of miniPCI cards available for retail customers?

Infinite thanks!!

Answer:Need help with upgrading the minipci WLAN card on Satellite Pro 6100

The wlan card build in into SP6100 is the PA3189U-1MPC. This is a Toshiba branded Agere Orinoco Gold or Silver MiniPCI card with Form Factor Mini PCI Type 3B.
May you found and tried to exchange the bluetooth card?

I just intalled 2GB extra memory but when it is installed the wireless card doesnt work. When I take it out the wireless works!
The wireless card reports "device cannot start" error 10 when the mem is installed but works when the mem is removed again.
The fault replictes reliably every time I install / uninstall the mem and only started when the mem was installed

I tried the new part alone in the slot where the original part was and it works fine
( both are 2GB) but when original part put in 2nd slot - it doesnt work.

Anyone any ideas what the issue might be?

Answer:WLAN card doesn’t work with 4GB RAM on Satellite Pro U400-153

That is a really strange issue...

First I would make BIOS update so check the Toshiba European driver website for an update:

If you don?t have success with an update, try two other memory modules. Maybe they are not 100% compatible with the notebook.

I don't have wireless mini PCI adapter on my laptop Satellite P10-792.
I want install this Adapter - Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG

How to?

I don't want USB Adapter, PCI-Express card

Answer:Satellite P10-792: Can I use the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG WLan card

Do you have a minPCI WLan slot at the bottom of the unit?
If yes, then a minPCI WLan card upgrade could be possible.
From my knowledge you could also use the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG WLan card.

The Wlan card must be connect to the WLan antenna. The two antenna cables must be connected as follows;
The white cable must be connected to main and the black cable to aux.

I've searched online and found that some packages also include Windows XP Professional as a downgrade.

This wasn't included in my package I received.

Can anybody advise on such a card please?

Answer:What WLan card could be compatible with Satellite Pro 2100 PS210E

Maybe you can get your hands on this one: Toshiba Wireless LAN Card Kit PA3212U-2MPC

This should be suitable for your notebook and I would ask ASP if they can order it or goole for a shop that trades this.

An alternative would be the common cards like for pcmcia slot or USB sticks, something like that.

I have formatted my laptop and booted it on a regular XP cd. Don?t ask why - I just have :-)

Therefore I am looking for drivers to the system. This is much more complicated than I thought

Especially am I looking for the devicedriver for the Wireless Lan. When I install the driver I find on the website (The Atheros setupfile) it only installs a helpprogram to the wireless device and does not enable the Wireless card.

Does anybody have a good idea?

Kind regards

You are right. WLAN driver is for driver installation only. Is now WLAN card installed properly? What is the WLAN card status in device manager?

If the WLAN card is installed properly you must enable WLAN card using FN+F8 key combination. Before doing this switch WLAN switch to position ON.

Hello all,

I purchased a Sat L100-179 laptop about 2.5 yrs ago without wireless lan.
So last week I purchased a Inter(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection, this is a internal card!

I installed the card along with the latest drivers and the card was working properly according to device manager
When I tried to use the card after setting the wireless settings I began to have problems.

I then installed the software for the card to help with the problem which was Intel(R) PROSet/Wirless WiFi Software which gave me a little more info to the problem. All settings for wifi are enabled except when I press Fn + F8 I get the following message:

Wireless communication is disabled. Please turn on the wirless switch.

But there is no switch on the side of the laptop just a blank cover cap.
I have run out of ideas to get this working and would really appreciate some help.
My OS is XP home service pack 3.

Answer:Re: Satellite L100-179 Cannot enable new inserted WLan card

I think your Sat L100-179 is not WLan upgradable.
If this notebook has been delivered without the WLan card and if the WLan switch does not exist then you cannot use an internal WLan card!

In such case you have to switch to an external solution like an USB WLan stick for example

With Windows 10 the Wi-Fi worked well. Suddenly three days it?s not active anymore?
FN + F8 does not work.
The switch in front of the computer either.
At startup, the computer recognizes the card and then turns off the front LED.

The Wi-Fi card is Intel 5100 AGN and most recent drivers work well.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but without result.

My wive purchase this computer coupple of months ago. It was from the beginning ferry slow on windows 8
The wurst laptop we ever had. We feel robbed of our money.

2 months ago we started with Ubuntu. It Still slow. IS there anybody with the same problems?

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-108 is very slow

Hi Marco

I don't have this notebook model and cannot confirm what you wrote but fact is that almost all new notebooks are pretty slow at the beginning. Many applications are set to start with Windows and this, of course, slows down boot time.
Windows updates are also set to automatic so in the background the machine will download and install many updates so this will slow down your machine rapidly.

In my opinion you should install original OS that you got with this machine and optimize it a bit.
Remove all useless stuff, change start-up option and disable automatic Windows updates.
In the past I have noticed that original preinstalled antivirus is also responsible for notebook?s performance so I don't use original preinstalled application but my own version of Avir Antivir and it runs perfectly.

Check all these options and I hope your machine will run much better than before.

I have a C70D-A-107 and want to speed up this notebook. Already placed 4gb extra memory so the notebook has now 8gb internal. I doubt whether it is usefull to put in 2x8gb. I think the processor is just to slow. It has a AMD E1-2100 inside. Is it possible to put in another (faster) processor?

The Satellite C70D-A-107 was equipped with an AMD Essentials E1-2100 Accelerated CPU (1,00 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache)
It’s not the fastest CPU therefore the notebook performance isn’t the best…

But CPU upgrade isn’t officially supported by notebook manufacturer... therefore I don’t think that you will be able to upgrade the CPU…

I read about successful Intel CPU upgrades but did not meet anyone who was able to perform an upgrade with an AMD CPU

Just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as far as I know until know), except boot from DVD. I disabled in the bios the Secure Boot and changed the boot order to DVD first, then USB and then HDD. The DVD drive starts, but then it skips to the HDD and Windows is started. I would like to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Anyone solved this problem already?

I recently installed a new wifi card into my laptop in order to give it dual-band support.

However, although everything went good in regards to hardware and installing drivers, the computer fails to actually use the wifi card, and insists that the card is "off", even though it's enabled in the device manager, the computer recognizes it, and the computer is not on airplane mode.

There is no physical switch on the laptop or the card, the function key does nothing (except flip between airplane mode and not-working mode), and even the diagnostics insist that I need to "enable wireless capability".

Answer:New Intel 6300 Wlan card does not work in Satellite P850/49

Not quite sure if you would be able to get this card working.
In many cases new modules and hardware parts don?t work because of the compatibility issues. Even if the module supports an mini PCI standard, this does not mean that all mini PCI Wlan card would be compatible. This is a big misapprehension.

However, I found some interesting tips on the Intel page:

What you could do is this:
In Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections, right-click on the adapter. Check if the adapter can be enabled there.

You can also try to install the Intel? PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility
You can turn on or off the WiFi radio at the Intel? PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility main window. The status icon on main window displays the current state of the radio. At the main window, click WiFi On or WiFi Off to turn the radio on or off.

In case this would not work, I assume the notebook cannot enable the Wlan card due to the different pin assignment.
For example some mini PCI WLan cards needs to mask the pin 20 (thin strip of electrical tape and stuck it over pin 20) in order to get it enabled.
Search on Google for mini pcie pin 20, and you will find that you are not the only ones with this type problem.

I have recenty installed a new Intel 5100 Series 512AN_MWW Mini PCI NIC in the base of my Satellite P100-188 PSPA3E.
However, when installed, it refused to display and boot.

I am assured (reading technical info) that these cards use the same interface.
So why won't it work?
Is a BIOS update required to allow functionality. If so, could someone kludge one together please?

I have the latest 4.70 BIOS installed and am running Windows Vista.
I am desperate for this to work as I already have a Draft N 2.0 AP and would like to use it to its full capabilities.

Cheers, Rob

Answer:Satellite P100-188 doesn't boot up after Wlan card upgrade

As I understand your message you have upgraded the internal WLan card Intel (Golan) Intel 3945ABG 802.11a/g to Intel 5100 with N Draft support.

Well buddy? it looks like you cannot use the N Draft WLan card in this notebook model.
Seems such card is not compatible and causes these interferences.

As far as I know the Draft N need 3 wires antenna? the Satellite P100-188 antenna supports only 2 wires and can be used only with 802.11 A B or G standard.

By the way during first set up followed instructions to create a partition D on the HDD, for some reason now have only C with 130GB while D is not showed, any idea how to fix

many thanks in advance, cheers, Aleks

Answer:Satellite L300-2CE - WLAN card not recognized and missing partition

You can determine the type of WLAN card if you check the device and vendor ID in device manager. Enter both ?codes? on this website and you see what WLAN car you have:

Regarding your question about partitions on HDD you should look in disk management. Maybe you have to format the partition first or create an extended partition.

This morning my Satellite Pro A40 (Celeron 2.6) fell down some 40 cm. It fell down right on the WLAN card that was inserted. That card is still alive and so is the rest of the laptop, but the PCMCIA slot is kind of damaged. I can insert PC Cards almost completely, just the last bit (where the pins are) doesn't go.

I removed the cover near the CPU and there I could see the PCMCIA-slot from the inside; I could see the main part and the last part where the pins are. That little part is like pushed upwards, as you can see on the pics.

I think I'd be able to fix that PCMCIA slot myself, but I can't remove it. I've removed all screws on the back plate, but it is still stuck.

The PCMCIA slot; on the left you see the part with the pins, which is pushed upwards. That's also what I see when I look at the pins through the PCMCIA slot; they are like pushed down, but I don't think they are bent.

Does anyone have an idea how I can remove the back plate, or another way to remove the PCMCIA slot and fix it?

I've been given an A60 to upgrade for a friend and one of the things needed is a wireless card.

I got a 32bit cardbus card but when I insert it into the laptop nothing happens. XP doesn't recognise it, the lights oo the card don't come on.
First I thought it was a faulty card but I tried other cards and get the same results and I've reinstalled XP and all drivers but nothing.

I've seen other posts about changing the mode in the BIOS but there's no mention of the CardBus in the BIOS.
The laptop is using BIOS version 1.9. I just want to check is there something I'm missing or is the CardBus slot just not working?

By the way: in user’s manuals document is clearly described how you can create recovery installation disc. I’m wondering you didn’t make it in the past.

Hi There,

I have had a Satellite C70D for about 18 months now, but have not used it in the past year as I have been disputing with customer services about the windows licence for the machine as I lost it when I formatted the original hard drive before installing an SSD and they wouldnt send me a copy of it. I have now bitten the bullet and bought a windows 10 licence again. However since building the machine a few days ago, I have been having a couple of issues and as it is now out of warranty, I cannot contact customer support (Who I found unhelpful even when it was in warranty!)

The first issue is when I boot up the machine, occasionally the keyboard will not work, I cannot type the BitLocker pin and I have to remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, this then fixes the issue for a few reboots before it goes again.

The second is that occasionally it will boot up with a red x next to the WiFi symbol, but it detects the WiFi card, usually a reboot fixes this but not always. I have reseated the card and still no avail.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this? The BIOS is up-to-date as are all of the drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help

Try to recover the notebook once again using the HDD recovery option.

The recovery procedure would reset the notebook back to factory settings… usually after that no passwords should be set…

I wasn't aware that she bought a laptop untill she called me and said she needs help because she never worked with such a slow computer as this Toshiba.

How much logic does Toshiba has? I mean putting 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM ( ok nice for a casual laptop ) doesn't quite fit with a >>1GHz<< processor. for the rest the specs aren't terrible.

Can somebody explain me why this laptop has a 1GHz processor with 6GB of RAM. this doensn't makes sence at all

I have 2 issues with my new Satellite C70D-B-32U.
When I put it in sleep mode, it does. But after about 5 minutes, it goes automatically to hibernate. This I don't want. And I don't want to disable hibernate, because I do use it when the laptop is not in use for longer periods. The power settings in control panel do not reflect this behaviour. In the settings, I specified that the laptop should never go to hibernate. Hybrid state is disabled.

And secondly, more importantly. Whenever it goes to hibernate, I can only wake it up with the power button. Not with the (internal) keyboard, not with the usb mouse. I would like an option to wake it from hibernate by pressing any key on the keyboard. In bios power on keyboard is set to on. Is there anything else I can change to have this available?
Actually if issue 1 is solved and the laptop stays in sleep mode, this issue is also solved since from sleep I can wake on a mouseclick which is also fine.

The OS is windows 8.1

You can try to change sound options but if you want to have better sound I’m afraid you need external speakers, Maybe BT speakers.

Answer:Can I replace the HDD in my Satellite C70D-B -00P model with an SSD?

Generally speaking yes, you can do this but problem is that your notebook model doesn't have HDD cover at the bottom side.
To have full access to the HDD the bottom cover must be removed completely but it should be done by authorized service only.

Of course you can try to do it alone but I?m afraid you may lose the warranty.
If possible contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country, explain the situation and ask for help.

So I bought this laptop a few months ago.
For the past few weeks the Laptop stopped playing sound.
I watched a stream in Chrome.

So actually I should be able to see the sound playing in the mixer.
But I wasn't able to play any sound or get any deflection in the mixer.

Then I installed Speccy and as this administration window popped up a sound was played and it worked.

I have no idea why the sound stopped working and why it started again.
Is someone able to help me?

I am using Windows 8.1

Answer:Satellite C70D-A-11D - no sound, random

The main thing is that you have sound again. It is not easy to say what was wrong there.
Have you installed some updates or anything else that can be responsible for this sound issue?

Would like to replace the wireless card as it has very performance...
need service manual. Sending laptop away isn't an option due to where we live.
Prefer to have internal card then dongle for wireless access...

Answer:Need Satellite A300D service manual in order to replace WLan card.

> need service manual

Unfortunately, I don't think that someone can submit service manual here, as it's user to user forum. But you can visit to see other Toshiba models ,,how to disassemble it,,

Answer:Satellite A205-S5843: Unknown WLAN card & some buttons don't work

The A205-S5843 belongs to the US series.
I checked the hardware specifications on the Toshiba US page and it looks like this notebook has been equipped with the Atheros 802.11 b/g wireless-LAN card.

The Atheros Wlan driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba US driver page or from this Toshiba European WLan portal:

Regarding your keyboard/button issue.
Did you ensure that this is not a software problem?
I mean did you test if the notebook?s keyboard/buttons would work using the original preinstalled Toshiba OS image?

In my personal opinion this strange keyboard behavior looks more like more hardware issue as software issue but it?s worth to check if the new installation would solve your problem?
But if you will not notice any improvements then the keyboard should be checked by an authorized service partner.

Unable to Login in normal mode Windows XP Pro Satellite P100. I can only access my PC under XP in safe mode.
I have my Windows password. What happened : I have tryed to update my LAN card drivers and i set the access to check connexion.

I cannot update my wireless driver in safe mode, and i can't login in normal mode as the driver is not appropriately installed.

When i have the windows XP Pro login i type my password and click OK.
The Login window stays on the screen i cannot go any further.
The system must be checking the wireless card and as i cannot configure it I am blocked.

And when i access in safe mode i cannot update the wireless drivers, not allowed in safe mode. I cannot access in safe mode with networking.

Thx for ur help

I want to modify my M50 so I can attach external antenna's to the onboard wlan card.

Does anyone know of any modding guides?

Answer:Satellite M50: How to modify it to attach external antenna to onboard WLan card

What do you want to do exactly?
What is detailed name of your Satellite M50-xxx?

Generally if the notebook is Wlan ready but it has no Wlan installed so it is possible to use a minPCI Wlan card.
Then if you want to install the Wlan card and attach it to the antenna, you have to connect the cables.
Normally a white cable goes to the MAIN and a black to the AUX.

I have eventually got a Mini PCI wireless card for my laptop, but its not working. The card is recognised by windows fine, and drivers install fine, no device conflicts or anything but..... it tells me the radio is disabled.

The light next to the wireless switch never comes on, and no matter what I do, cannot get the radio to come on. In device manager it says the radio is enabled, and everything seems OK software wise.

I am suspecting the switch is faulty, but would like some advice if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite 1130: Cannot enables new installed WLan card - radio is disabled

which card did you installed? I probably know where the problem is. If you got an atheros or realtek card installed it could be that the hardware switch cannot enable it due to some false pin assignments between the mini-pci port and the wlan card.

I cannot place any links about that issue here in the forum, but you can maybe solve that problem by googling for the following specific words:

"pin 13 mini pci"

I promise you?ll find a site which describes the workaround for machines with such an hardware switch and exactly this issue.

Can anyone help me. I bought this card about a month ago and after inserting the laptop runs only to the BIOS boot screen and goes no further. if this card is compatible with this laptop or not.

and the second is my question upgraded the BIOS to version 1.50, if it gives a new opportunity.
maybe something with compatibility

Answer:Satellite L755D-13J does not boot after Intel 6230 WLan card update

It looks like the WLan card is not fully compatible and the BIOS cannot handle this chip.
Don?t think that BIOS update would help in such case but if new version is available, you can try to update the BIOS to the latest state.

Dear Toshiba forum members.
First excuse me for my poor English because my native language is Dutch.

I have recently bought my third Toshiba notebook A Satellite R850-18W.

I already bought a replacement wlan adapter for the original Atheros AR9002WB adapter.
Changing the the adapter in the notebook is easy, I have already done that.

The only problem is, I couldn't get bluetooth working so I put the original Atheros adapter back in my Satellite R850. Everything is working, wifi and bluetooth.

But I want to buy a router with 5ghz band possibility and take advantage of the speed en less crowed 5ghz band. That's why I bought the Intel centrino 6235 adapter.

I need help in which steps to follow to get everything working like it should.

Which software do I need to un-install to avoid problems.
Do I need to un-install the drivers of the Atheros adapter first?

I think and hope it should be possible to make such a minor change in configuration of this notebook?

I guess there isn't an easy way although Toshiba has also notebooks were they use the Intel centrino advanced-N 6235 adapter. I was kind of hoping on an easy software install of drivers and the Toshiba connection software.

Hope anyone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite R850-18W: Replacement of Wlan card with Intel centrino 6235

Not quite sure if you will be able to use this Intel Centrino WLan card.
There is a similar threads about the Intel Centrino Advanced n 6230 and the other user could not enable this card

Therefore I recommend talking to your dealer if it?s possible to return this kind of WLan card if there would be an compatibility problem.

I have a toshiba satellite 2450-s203 and there is an embedded atheros wlan card -somewhere in the laptop-.

However, I am running win xp pro and the device manager DOES NOT FIND THE CARD!

It finds the ethernet card and a 1394 net adapter!

But not the WLAN card!!

Any ideas?! I have downloaded the wireless card's drivers from the site but with no luck!

What should I do?!

Answer:Toshiba satellite 2450-s203 does not recognise atheros wlan card

The W-lan card is optional to this model eg. it's not included in all machines. You need to purchase the correct module to get W-lan to work.

If the card would be installed in the machine, You should see either a yellow esclamation mark (!) or "unknown device" if You have uninstalled hw.

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-300 doesn't work properly

There are too many problems.
In my opinion you should reinstall original recovery image and test notebook functionality with “factory settings” again.

Is this an option for you?

Power off the notebook.

Then power up the unit again and press F12.
Now you should see the Advanced boot menu.
Here choose HDD recovery
Then choose language and keyboard.

My mousepad doesn' work as it should. I tried to deblock with FN+F5, only F5, FN+F9, ... but nothing helps.
All I can do is move the cursor and use the mousepad when keeping the left mouse button at the same time.
Anyone a solution?

Answer:Satellite C70D - impossible to deblock mousepad

To be honest I’ve never heard about such touchpad behaviour.
Have you tested all touchpad settings?
If there is option to set all of them on default settings please do this and test functionality again.

Anyway, best hardware test is to reinstall operating system and check touchpad functionality with “factory settings”.

I am new to this forum and purchased a Satellite C70D yesterday.
I went thru set up, It asked me for my email and password.

I entered this and the next time I logged in there was my hotmail profile photo.
I entered my password - no problem. I changed the language from Spanish to English etc etc.

I switched it on this morning and got the Toshiba Logo - then it went to blank screen and there was a large data entry box asking me for a password. I tried the same one and I get another screen showing a red data entry box saying "VERIFY ERROR!! Please reenter to continue!!

Can anyone help me please. I am operating windows 8.1

Answer:Satellite C70D asks me for my email and password

I think I must be in the operating system as there is no need to click on the box to enter a password!!
I have no recovery disks

i bought a new Toshiba Satellite C70D-B-108 but the Fn button doesnt work. Does somebody know i can fix it? The laptop runs on Windows 8 with a "classic shell".

Answer:The FN button doesn't work on my new Satellite C70D

Check please settings for ?Function keys mode?. There are two ways to use F keys:
-Special function mode ? use F keys only
-Standard F1 ? F12 mode ? use FN+Fx key

Check the settings please.

By the way: do you use original preinstalled Win8.1 that you got with your machine?

Can't get my microphone and webcam working under Win7 64.
Drivers not available on the download section of Toshiba.

What to do please?

Toshiba Satellite C70D-B-310 PSCLEE.

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-310 - Webcam and Microphone not working

All essential and necessary Win 7 64bit drivers for Satellite C70D-B are available on Toshiba EU driver page.

The single webcam driver isn?t available because as far as I know the Toshiba Value Added Package already contains the essential driver to get the webcam working.

The mic is part of the webcam and should be chosen in control panel ? sound ? recording tab

Ever since I purchased my machine, I have been dogged with a blue screen and a reboot...once, however, I ha to take it back to the point of sale, because it just would not reboot.

The error screen in question is: 0xa0000001. What is going on?
I get this two - three times a night. how do I sort it? I'm not a geek and would like plain and simple instructions to understand....

Answer:Satellite C70D - blue screen 0xa0000001

0xa0000001 is not a usual BSOD code. Usually its something like 0x000000xx

Does the BSOD display a system file?

Hi there

Pretty much every time I turn on my laptop I am being asked to enter in the date, it defaults to 1.1.2015. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can overcome this issue? Just to be clear this happens right at the point of turning the computer, i.e. before Windows even starts to load up. It must be date/time settings of the device.

Thanks for your help in advance
