Satellite C660-M21G SM bus controller and display driver installation issue

Question: Satellite C660-M21G SM bus controller and display driver installation issue

Hello,

I recently purchased toshiba Satellite C660 M21G Laptop with windows 7 32 bit installed (not licensed) and I installed all the hardware drivers except the SM Bus Controller and the Nvidia GeForce graphic adapter driver, this because it does not exit on toshiba web site, or by other mean it exist but when I try to install either the Chipset utility or the display driver (VGA driver) an error message appear in both installation indicates that I didnt matched the minimum system software requirments for installing both the Dispaly adapter and the chipset.

I dont know why those requirments does not included in the error message ?

I have more that 12 hours trying to find a way out to install the dispaly driver because the standard VGA driver that windows 7 (32 bit) installed is very poor and i cant running any games or playing video smoothly
I am suffer and I need help

best regards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite C660-M21G SM bus controller and display driver installation issue

From my knowledge the Satellite C660-M21G belongs to the PSC1SE series.
I?m wondering where did you find the right display driver for this series?
The notebook seems to support the NVIDIA GeForce 315M

I checked the Toshiba European driver page and not all Win 7 32bit drivers are released on the European driver page? I think you tried to install wrong or not compatible graphic card driver and therefore this error message appeared while installing the drivers.

But it seems that Win 7 64bit driver is available for this series therefore I would recommend testing the driver for Win 7 64bit.
The SM bus controller might be the Card reader and in such case you should install the Card Reader Controller driver from Realtek. There is also an Win 7 64bit driver version available on European driver page?

Test it simply?

Iv been given a toshiba satellite c660-1j6.
The problem is the hard drive has been wiped (including the back up). I have none of the Toshiba back up disks , but i have new copies of win 7 home prem and xp pro. However when i try to install win7 i get as far as selecting the drive to install it and i click on the drive and i get the message about how windows cant be installed on this drive please check the drive controller is enabled.

Iv check the BIOS more then a few times and i cant find anything to do with it apart from the SATA Controller Mode and that dose nothing.
Toshiba Tech Support where no help at all. so is the HD locked or the BIOS and is there any way of unlocking them so i can install the O/s?

Iv tested the drive by hooking it up to a desk top PC and installing windows that way but as soon as i put the drive back in the laptop it comes up with no O/S installed again

Can someone give any help....or clues even , iv been at this for a week now and im going insane.

Answer:Satellite C660-1J6 Win7 clean installation failed - HDD controller disabled

Hi

HDD is not locked. You can install any OS on the HDD.
Usually the Win 7 operating system already contains the SATA drivers which are needed in order to see the HDD. So it?s not necessary to include SATA drivers while Win 7 installation. You said you?ve got a Win 7 copy disk. Is this a original Microsoft disk with full functional Win 7?
I?ve installed many times Win 7 on my Toshiba notebooks and didn?t need to use SATA drivers?

In BIOS you have found SATA controller mode. This should be set to AHCI. You can change this pressing SPACE.
But also settings the BIOS to default should do this job.

Hi

Satellite A300-24x belongs to the PSAGQE series.
It supports the Mobile Intel GL40 graphic chipset.

On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Intel driver v6.14.10.4953.
Did you install this?

Did you install the Chip Set Utility?
If not, then do this!

Hello.

Can someone please help with my Laptop? Here are my Laptop specs:
Model: Toshiba Satellite C660-117
Part Number: PSCOLE-00Y00JEN
Serial Number: XA458343K

I have just rewiped my Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. I use the laptop on a wireless connection. Yet in device manager I have an exclamation mark next to Ethernet controller. This is preventing me from going online.

Can someone please direct me to the link required to download whatever driver I need?

Many many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite C660-117 - Where to download Ethernet controller driver?

Hi buddy,

Ethernet controller driver can be both: WLAN or LAN card. All drivers and tools can be downloaded on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

You have installed Windows 7 Ultimate but may I ask you why you haven?t used the Toshiba recovery disk with Windows 7 Home Premium? On this disk are all drivers and tools are installed because it?s an image of factory settings so you don?t have stress with driver and tool installation.

Greetings!

I have a problem in installing the ATI vga-driver. I know that only drivers from the Toshiba's site can be used, but they don't even work. I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 1-EF notebook with ATI HD5470, and Windows 7 SP1 x64 installed. I had bought it without an OS, so I didn't get any disks.

After I installed (clean install) the OS, I saw that some devices had been installed with the built in drivers of the Windows (or not even installed). So I decided to download the appropriate drivers. The first problem was, that I couldn't find ATI driver for W7 x64 on the Toshiba's site for this type of notebook. I tried to find a similar laptop, which has the same graphics card. At least I could find a driver. But when I wanted to install it, it was closed. It didn't do anything, just closed.

Since that, I have tried several drivers (most of them I downloaded from the Toshiba's site), but the result was the same.

What should I do?

Answer:Need WXP display driver for Satellite C660-2TL

Hello

I?ve checked notebook specification and your notebook has NVIDIA N12M-GE-S 1GB (DDR3) graphic card. Several Toshiba notebook models have this card but none of them is supported for WXP.

Toshiba doesn?t support WXP and display driver for this nvidia card is not available. I?m afraid you must try to find driver googling around.

Hi,

I just got a unused C660-21Z from a acquaintance, only the Device itself though, no charger or Recovery Disks.
Charger is already orderd, and if I try to boot it (Batteries are still charged), it says there is no Operating System installed, so I have to do that myself, too. (Windows 7 x64)
Not that installing Windows is a problem for me, but looking on the Driver page, I see that there are ~ 40 Downloads for win7x64, and no Instructions about how / in which order to install them correctly.
So, my questions are:

I'm trying to update my display drivers as I'm currently stuck with ones from 2011 (8.15.10.2189) and they won't auto update.

However when I try and manually install what seems to be the most up to date version (8.15.10.2353) it doesn't work. (extracts but then doesn't install).
My model is Satellite C660 - 23m. Part number PSC0QE 05603DEN.

Any ideas why this might be?
Am I trying to install the correct driver?

Answer:Updating Display Driver on Satellite C660-23M

Hi

You want to update the Intel graphic card driver?

The internal GPU is part of the Intel Core i3-370M CPU and its Intel HD graphic.

I?m wondering why the update is so important for you? I think you will not get any new features nor you will notice any performance boost.

However, you could try to start the graphic installation via device manager.
This procedure should work especially if you would use the ?Advanced? installation which allows you to point to the driver folder containing the driver update files

Hello all you wonderful people.

I'm writing this post to inquire as to why the display driver for this model hasn't been updated since 2010?
I have been playing a favourite game of mine (Civilization V) on this model. They updated the game with a patch in November and the computer can no longer display the graphics properly because of the old drivers.

I've done my research on the gaming forums to try and fix this and after looking at my dxdiag its become clear that the drivers are out of date. I've been on the Intel website and they have updated drivers for the card (Intel(R) HD graphics), I've downloaded these drivers however the laptop will not install them unless they are Toshiba verified? My questions are..

Why does Toshiba stop me from installing these drivers from Intel's website?
and
How do I get round all this Pfaff and update my graphics drivers?

Many thanks

Hello,

I have a Satellite C660 and I, just recently, reformatted it. There was no problem with the reformatting. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit. After that, i installed the proper drivers like the LAN drivers. There was no problem until I installed Counter-Strike 1.6. In the Video options of CS, there were 3 choices for renderers, (Software,OpenGL ,and D3D).

http://imgur.com/sqPf4n4

Before the reformat, i was using the OpenGL option. But after that, it seems like the OpenGL is missing.

http://imgur.com/fUiPDqx

i tried to find the cause of this problem online and most of the solutions i found was to update my display driver. Evidently, the updated driver supports OpenGL. (Please explain if i got something wrong as I'm not really a techie).

Browsing online, i found the updated display driver in the Toshiba website. (http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/...0j001/download). It is version 8.15.10.2291.

http://imgur.com/OTxOhpq

This is my display driver version right now.

http://imgur.com/u55lCuE

And as you can see, the one in the toshiba site is more up-to-date. I downloaded it and installed it. But after the installation, there was no notification or anything that said my driver was updated. I checked again in the device manager but the driver WAS NOT updated. I also tried to right-click the driver>Update>Look for updates online, but it says it is already the most updated..

Please help me. My laptop is very far from unusable. But it bugs me that I cant... Read more

Hi

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1D7 running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium with Intel Core i3 [email protected] GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. I use my laptop a lot for graphics etc. with Adobe CS5 and Corel Paint shop Photo Pro x3 etc.

After only 2 months I got an HDD alert saying it would fail soon. So under warranty 2 weeks ago Toshiba arranged for an authorized dealer to collect and replace the HDD which they did. Ever since then I cannot use my graphics software. Now, I remember when I first got my laptop I had the same problem and it was to do with my graphics/video card and OpenGL. Toshiba site and my own laptop kept saying that all drivers were up to date. But when I went on Intel site I found that Intel HD Graphics was not up to date. As soon as I updated I was able to use all my graphics programs.

The drivers installed without any problems at all. This time, although I gave a recovery disk to the repair dealer, when my graphics software was not working. However, when I try to install them it says that I now have modified drivers from the laptop manufacturer and I must go to the Toshiba site. Either way, the drivers I need are not on the Toshiba site and I have tried every way possible I think to install the ones I want.

Answer:Satellite C660-1D7 - Installing latest Intel display driver

Hi John,

The problem is that only Toshiba drivers are pretested on your system. Installing other drivers happens on your own risk because they are not tested by Toshiba.

Anyway, just download the drivers on Intel website. If setup.exe file shows you an error message about not compatible drivers install them manually (I know this message from my notebook). Therefore navigate to device manager > right click on graphic card > update driver. Then choose the advanced installation where you can choose the driver and directory yourself. Now you are able to install this driver :)

Don't know if anyone can help me but I'm losing the will to live.

I've got this laptop, the OS corrupted and basically failed due to a malware infection. I never had the recovery disks so I've clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit twice in the space of 3 days because each time, Windows Update will not work. It simply sits on checking for updates and never finishes. I've tried EVERY solution going - ive reset windows update, done all the fix it programs supplied by microsoft to no avail.

As I said, this is a totally clean install, no anti virus, no 3rd party firewall, updates attempted via both ethernet and wifi. Am I missing a driver of some sort? There are no exclamation marks or warnings in device manager?!

It's doing my head in. What am i doing wrong?!

One observation, both installs have required me to activate via phone, it wouldn't work via the internet?! Is this related in any way?
Drivers installed:
Chipset
Video
Audio
LAN
WLAN
Touchpad

I got them off this page: http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/...untry=8&page=1

Is there any that I'm missing that are important?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

If not, you could download this from here:

Otherwise I recommend you to check the MS knowledge base regarding the Windows 7 update issues.

You don’t’ use the Toshiba image and therefore this isn’t Toshiba notebook problem but system issue.

Hello,

I have a Satellite M70-cli PSM73C-CL100E and I got a new hard drive and loaded Windows xp. I went to the Toshiba website and downloaded and installed all of the drivers. I didn't have any problems with the atheros wifi drivers, or sound, modem or chipset. I also updated the bios to v2.10 all with success.

The problem is with the video card. I used the program from huntersoft and know that the chipset is an ATI. Also it said its a ATIradeon xpress 200m with 128MB DDR shared video. When I try and install the ATI driver it says setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard vga driver.

I have spent hours pouring over the net. I have tried the ATI L30 XP driver and it does the same thing. I have tried the ATI radeon xpress 200m driver and it says hardware not found. I don't have the original CD's. I know that it works as the old drive worked fine. Unfortunatly I wiped it as well to put in an older laptop. I should have got the drivers off of it. :(

Does any one have any idea? This is driving me crazy! Thanks for any help. Marilyn

Answer:Satellite M70-CLI - Can't install display driver or SM Bus Controller

Hi mjmx4,

How have you tried installing the display driver?

Normally you can install the (display) driver if you start the setup.exe file that comes with the driver package. Follow the screen instructions through driver setup, the driver will be installed.

Alternative you can install the driver if you navigate to device manager and right click on graphic card. Choose ?Update driver? and use the advanced installation where you can choose the driver and directory yourself.

By the way: Before you start with driver installation, you should install Service Pack 3 for XP.

Greetings

I am in possesion of a Toshiba Satellite L875D-10N and last week i noticed that the usable display memory is 256MB while it normally is 6GB, at this point i figured out that both the "microsoft basic display-driver" and the "AMD radeon 7640G driver" are both installed incorrectly (yellow triangle in device manager). Also should AMD radeon 7640G driver not be installed since the notebook makes use of AMD Radeon HD 7640G + HD 7610M Dual Graphics.

Answer:Display driver installation on Satellite L875D-10N

According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with Win8 64bit so if you use this original OS version all hardware components should be installed and configured properly.

The question is: what have you done exactly with your machine?
Have you installed own OS version? If yes download the right display driver from Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/dow...ivers_bios.jsp

If you need more help post a bit more about notebook configuration – which OS do you use.

Hello guys,

I have a silly question. Since I have found out that a newest display driver has been released for the P500 laptops, I have been trying to install it. However, when I try to do this (and all the installation and restarting stuff goes perfectly well), the date of the driver remains unchanged.

My current display driver is dated back to 23/07/2009. The latest driver for the laptop on this site is dated back to the 10/11/2010. Could please tell me in detail how I can update this very driver so the date of it finally updates to the November's driver.

Hi,

Satellite P100-160, PSPAAE, vista 32 bit,

Today Aero wasn't working and not available in graphics properties. Installed latest display driver from Toshiba UK site, Intel 15.0.1.1114. This version was actually older than my current driver but I thought that maybe as it was the only one availabel that it must be correct.

The driver install failed with an error (no details just 'an error has occurred'). Now I have no aero and my display resolution cant be set above 1280x800 - should be 1440x900

To say I am pisseed would be an understatement. Can anyone help? thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite P100-160 - Display driver installation failed

Hey,

If Aero is not available I don?t think it?s display driver problem?

Anyway, have you removed the old display driver before you installed the new one? Go to device manager > right click on graphic card > uninstall. After reboot the display driver should be uninstalled and you can start with display driver installation.

If you install drivers make sure you are logged in as Administrator and antivirus/firewall is disabled. Restart once again and you should be able to choose the native screen resolution now.

Check this!!!

Hi all,
I just installed the newest version of iTunes on my Satellite C50D-B-11X, and now I can't see any picture from video players. either online playback (youtube etc) or from CyberLink PowerDVD. All I get is a green screen where the video should be. The audio plays fine, but I can't see a thing. I've uninstalled iTunes, but this hasn't made any difference. Any ideas??

Thanks

Adam

Answer:Satellite C50D-B-11X - strange display issue after iTunes installation

Hi Adam

Do you have now general problem with display functionality or just when you want to watch some videos?

Have you tried to roll back OS to earlier time using system restore tool? Please do it. Check if this simply step can change anything and post some feedback.

In worst case you should reinstall OS using recovery option and test it with ?factory settings?.
By the way: have you created recovery media using Toshiba recovery media creator tool?

I've updated the display driver on my P200 with the lastest version "display-20080311103412".

However, when deleting the downloaded files after intallation, the zip file deletes OK, but the unzipped files cause a blue screen crash.

Anyone had this?
How do I get rid of the unzipped files if they won't let me touch them?

Answer:Satellite P200: Can't delete display driver installation files

Hi

How did you install the display driver?
Did install the driver from the device manager or did you executed the exe file???

Possibly the display driver files which are unzipped are in use and locked by graphic card.

Answer:Satellite P100-102 - Black screen after display driver installation

Hi Criz-Lee,

Yes, P100-102 is equipped with nVidia GeForce FX Go7600 and therefore you can download the newest and pretested driver here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

But this notebook is a little bit older so you have to search in *Archive*.

Interesting to know would be what OS you have and have you installed the chipset driver? This should be installed first.

Satellite P50 PSPNVA-01R00N

After windows 10 upgrade, i got screen of death so I decided to ask the Toshiba service centre to replace a new HD because i don't want to pay another $110 just for them to fix it although it was still under warranty.

WHen i got back my laptop, I have realised that the dedicated graphics card AMD radeo driver was not installed. I tried the Mytoshiba.com.au to download the driver and after it finished installing, nothing happened.

Please guide me through and I don't want to spend any more money for something that I bought brand new and shouldn't have to pay any more money because of the what ever compatibility issues and it's not my problem. Please tell me how to fix this.

Also, after I've turned off the power, how come the fan&power button stayed on for so long before it completely turned off?

Thank you.

Hi all,

i am trying to download web cam driver for Satellite L450-136.
All goes well till final bit, i get message turn cam off.
Dont know how to,

thanks

Answer:Satellite L450-136 - web cam driver installation issue

Hi

I?m not quite sure what is going wrong with the webcam but usually the webcam can be started using the installed webcam software.

In msconfig -> StartUp tab you can disable the webcam software to prevent the software from automatic loading while the notebook boots up.

Then you could start the software and webcam again.
You will see the small icon in task bar (right bottom corner).
Make right click -> show tool bar
Then a webcam tool bar should pop up where you could choose single webcam option.

PS: if something went wrong with the webcam software installation, then uninstall this software and try again?

I bought a notebook SATELLITE L450D-11T with windows 7 and I want to use a pen drive for internet but it requires a previous version of OS.
So I installed windows xp but on this site there aren't any drivers (motherboard, video, audio, network) compatible.

Analysing the situation I found the driver for audio from the site of Realtek but about the driver of the motherboard/video I have some problems:
the chipset is AMD 780G and the display hardware is an ATi Radeon HD 3200. On the site of AMD I found a packet with all needed drivers, but during the installation the system restarted by itself every time I start the installation. I opened the event viewer to see if there's an error, but nothing.
I restarted the pc in provvisional mode: it can't complete the installation but it gives an error "can't open the driver for tracking" or something such this.

There's something wrong? i forgot to do something?
Thanks

Answer:WXP driver installation issue on Satellite L450D-11T

Hi

Why you don?t take another pen drive that is compatible with Windows 7? In my opinion this would be easier as reinstalling the whole notebook but ok, it?s your decision? ;)

As far as I know the drivers on the AMD page only designed for desktop usage so I think they will not work on mobile chips. But maybe the downloaded driver files only corrupted, so try to download them again.

As I already said I would choose another pen drive. This notebook is designed for new Windows 7 and all should work properly on new OS.

Hi, we have a C660-2EV that came with Win 7 Home Ed and we upgraded it to the Ultimate edition. We have restored all the drivers apart from the PCI SImple Communications Controller which comes up as driver not installed. I've tried just about everything on the Toshiba drivers downloads but can't seem to find it. Can someone please tell me what I need to install!

These are the hardware ids (I tried looking on the Intel site but that was no help either)
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_FC301179&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&SUBSYS_FC301179
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&CC_0780

Compatible IDs are listed as:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3A
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0780
PCI\VEN_8086
PCI\CC_078000
PCI\CC_0780

I am familiar with technical systems and computers as I work with atmospheric physics instrumentation but I'm not up on hardware jargon so I'd appreciate it if you could keep any replies worded for the layman (woman) ;-) thanks

Hello!
I have a new Toshiba Sattellite C660-1WT
Product code PSC1LE-01Y01ERU
With Core i3-2310M processor
With preinstalled Windows 7 Home Basic SP1 operation system
BIOS ver 1.00 13/18/2001 (based on Toshiba HWSetup)

Cooling fan runs on high speed, with very loud noise.
I have tried to change "Toshiba Power Saver Settings V8.9.4.64" to "Battery optimized" in "Advanced power settings" but this didn't helps.
This option work only in one way - to increase fan speed, but never to decrease.
When I turn this option to "Maximum performance" and then back to "Battery optimized" fan is going to low speed, but only for first hight CPU load operation then fan begin runs on high speed and never switch to low.

Can you help me to reduce fan noise when cpu is idle automatically?

Message was edited by: KirillN

Answer:Re: Satellite C660 - Fan speed controller didn't work properly.

I have tested and defined fan speed settings on several Toshiba notebooks (belong to my friends) and it always work. With other words the fan speed was always reduced.

I recommend you to use ?Balanced power option? for usual work. Enter additional options for balanced power plan and set ?Cling method? to battery optimized. After doing this fan speed should be reduced and work with notebook much pleasant than before.

I've got a default Satellite P750-136. Usually when my laptop is on idle I used to have 0-4% CPU speed.
I just installed the latest drivers for the nvidia 540m graphics card and my CPU is on 6-13% on idle.
I checked the pc health monitor and the fan speed has gone up to 80% on idle. And CPU temperature is nearer to 50. What do you think is the problem and how can I get it back to it's previous performance?

There are no system restore points earlier. Installing the nvidia driver didn't seem to create one...

Ok basically I don't have any sound on the laptop and realised that there isn?t a driver installed so I went onto the Toshiba website and downloaded the correct one.

The problem however is that the driver won?t install properly it comes up with a windows error message saying that "tool for driver update" has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I am presuming this is a problem with the installation file so could someone help me out?

I've been having daily problems with a display driver. I looked everywhere for newer version but it seems there is no. I could find only 6.14.10.4953 version and that is the one i already have.
Btw the message i've been getting on BSD screen is "igxprd32 driver has entered a loop" or something like that. Anyway it is super annoying not to be able to find a driver for a less than a year old laptop TOSHIBA!!!!

Answer:Satellite L300-2CE - display driver issue

In my opinion problem is not the driver itself. It must be something else that has negative influence on graphic functionality. I don?t know which operating system do you use but install original Toshiba recovery image and I?m 100% sure everything will work perfectly.

Who knows what you have installed on your notebook and what your activities are.

Few months ago I have installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it runs perfectly. His HDD was death and we have upgraded HDD and made clean Win7 installation. Until now he didn?t notice any problem with graphics or functionality in general.

Answer:Satellite M70-193: graphic driver installation - minimum requirements issue

Hi

Very strange ?:|
How did you try to install the graphic driver and what graphic driver did you try to install???
You should use the on from the Toshiba page.

I would recommend downloading firstly the graphic driver.
Then go to the device manger and remove (uninstall) the graphic card from the system.
After new reboot the OS should find automatically the new device and would ask to start the installation.

In this case you should follow the installation procedure and install the new downloaded driver.

good luck

Did you choose the right notebook series from the driver download form???

What XP OS version have you installed?
From my own experience you would need a XP with the SP2.

Don?t install the SP3 before you would not install the XP drivers on the notebook.
Even if the Toshiba XP driver were installed on your notebook I would test the notebook without installed SP3 due to some compatibility issues.

Answer:Satellite Pro S300-10F: PowerDirector 9 issue with display driver 7.15.10.x

Hi

Latest display driver can be downloaded from Intel page.
The Intel page provides always the newest drivers for the own chips.

The Toshiba driver page provides display drivers version:
v 14.34.2.4953 for Win XP
v 8.15.10.1883 for Win 7
v15.9.0.1489 for Vista 64bit
v 15.9.5.1502 for Vista 32bit

If you want to get newer drivers then you have to choose one from Intel page.
The driver from Intel page should be installed in device manager.
Means you have to force Windows choosing the Intel driver. This can be done using the Advanced installation procedure. Then you will be able to point to the driver files.

You should use the Toshiba graphic card driver? in most cases these drivers are pretested and should work properly. BIOS should be up to date too!

You have to check if new CD/DVD firmware is available for your CD/DVD drive.
You should look on the Toshiba European driver page. In ?More Info? you will get some details about the available firmware.

If there is no firmware available, then you should test different CDs and DVDs from different manufacturers?

Answer:Satellite A500-1GL: display driver issue - BCCode: 117

Hi

Regarding the black screen issue;
You used the driver from nVidia? this is not advisable due to the missing overheating protection. You should use the driver from the Toshiba page.
Please check also if the BIOS is up to date.
If newer BIOS is available, please update this? I read in some threads that this could help to solve such issues?

Regarding the automatically resume from hibernation;
You should check in BIOS if the Wake up on LAN and Wake up on keyboard options are disabled. If both or only one is enabled, then disabled this, save the changes in BIOS and reboot the unit?

I have a Satellite C660 laptop that is only a couple of months old and not used too much. I turned it on the other day, but the screen is completely blank. The laptop is making 'bleeping' sounds. One, quite high longish bleep, followed by the same pitch but two bleeps in quick succession. This cylce occurs every 30 seconds or so. It doesn't matter whether it is plugged in or running on the battery, the results are the same. I have also noticed that the machine is not getting that warm. When I had the laptop plugged in earlier I had to leave it for a while to answer the phone. Since it has not been working the laptop has one red light and one green light - none flashing. When I returned after about 10 minutes, both lights had turned to green and the bleeping was the same. I have went through the users manual and have tried the suggestions re: screen contrast, brightness and so on, but nothing is happening. I'm pretty p----d off as the laptop is only a few weeks old as I mentioned earlier.. Any help would be appreciated. PS - it is still under warranty.

Answer:Satellite C660 - No Display

Hello

If your notebook isn?t able to start and makes only some beeping sounds it means that a hardware malfunction was detected. It?s not a software problem so you must contact an authorized service provider and let the guys check your unit for errors.

It?s good that the notebook is still under warranty because such hardware repairs are for free and covered by warranty. So get in contact with your local authorized service provider and ask for help. I?m sure the problem can be clarified with the guys :)

I ahve it for like 2 months

My problem is that when i startup the laptop, and go to the desktop theres a cetain point that stop loading....and it gets freeze there till i have to manually reset...(i can go trough the safe mode well).

I dont know if this has soemthing to do with it... but i downloaded and install a new driver from the nvidia webpage. After tryin it several days, i notice it there was some issues, and so i changed it again the drivers from the one in the Toshiba web page.

well 2 days went well... i could do everything normally...

OK I decided to use the recovery tool fromToshiba, but the same issue happend while isntallin the drivers by itself.... i dont know if it was coincidence but right after it install the nividia drivers it just stop working again...it froze again.....and now it doesnt let me start with an account, because it gets froze, only in afe mode i can access my laptop...

one thing i tried was unisitallin the nvidia drivers in safe mode... and try boot the laptop....it worked.. or at leat doesnt get stuck, but since i did the recovery from Toshiba it wont let me start session.

I really have no idea what could it be... the grpahic card??

Thank you.

It looks like a graphci card driver from nvidia.com causes freezing. Moreover, it isn't recommended to use not pretested driver by Toshiba. The Toshiba drivers are modified to support overheating protection. So, use only drivers from Toshiba driver page.

After a problem with my SatC 660 i decided to Nuke the hard drive and do a fresh install using a W7 32 Bit disk created from the web ( there is a free library of Windows 7 iso images (Sorry forgot name).

So i had the disk in and the disk drive which has the disk in, W7 is now saying it cant find the device driver for the DVD Drive which it has just used for it to show the W7 first screen.

Looked everywhere for the drivers for the DVD Drive but no joy on the web.

Can anybody help me out please?

Answer:Satellite C660 - need help with fresh Win7 installation

Maybe stupid question on the beginning but why you don't install original Win7 64 bit? I presume you got your machine with preinstalled operating system.

> So i had the disk in and the disk drive which has the disk in, W7 is now saying it cant find the device driver for the DVD Drive which it has just used for it to show the W7 first screen.
Sorry but after reading this sentence I?m completely confused and don't know how to understand this. If you have created bootable installation disc I hope you were able to install Win7 correctly. After first start you must continue to install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Optical disc drive uses Microsoft driver and there is no some special driver for this device. It must be recognized automatically by preinstalled operating system.

If my posting was not helpful for you please be more precise with your problem description.

Have you installed Windows from Toshiba recovery disk or normal Microsoft Windows disk?

For me it sounds like that you have forgotten to install the display driver. Also check the device manager for yellow exclamation marks or unknown devices.
Make sure that correct display driver is installed. You can download the newest version on official Toshiba website:

Have you tried to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask if they can obtain this cable for you?

Hello,

on the laptop TOSHIBA C660, replaced the hard drive and, as a fact, the OS flew down (Windows 7 SP1 HB x 64).
Installed not licensed, there was no way out, on the Microsoft website, to download the image, the key from the laptop is not suitable.

Not a licensed image, there was no desire to put, the assembly is an assembly, naturally installed such an operating system behaved badly, buggy.

Done, and now the laptop does not work.
In the service center installation of OS and drivers costs 3500 rbl.

Offensively. So I'm looking for help on the forum.

Please, kindly request help. Thank you.

I have a SATELLITE C660-26Z after formatting and reinstalling a new version of windows my function keys are not working.

However they work until I log in and then they do not work on any account I may have accidentally turned they off if so is it possible to turn them back on? FN and keys 1-4 work but Fn keys Esc all the way to F9 do not work any ideas?

thank you

Ben

p.s. i have Toshiba Value Added Package

Answer:Re: satellite C660-26Z: FN buttons don't work after Win7 installation

Hi

You need to install VAP and Flash Card Support Utility.
The Flash Cards Utility controls the FN buttons.

Install this and test again

Good morning!

The first apologize for my English, I am Spanish and use a translator.

I have a Satellite C660-1NX (PSC1LE-00F00NCE), I had to reformat the computer, put on a clean Windows 7 64x (not recovery) with all original drivers giving official Toshiba page,

Everything looks perfect but when turn off the computer is completely frozen, I thought it was 64x and 86x and install the same, the first day all right, then started the same problem, eh updated BIOS, as usual, before formatting this did not happen, it is very weird,

I find the reason for the problem never happened to any computer this.

Best regards

Answer:Satellite C660-1NX freezes while shutdown after clean Win 7 installation

?and what happen when you install the system using Recovery disk?
Does the notebook freezes too?

I doubt someone will be able to say why the unit does not shut down properly.
I think first of all its necessary to find out if its hardware or software related problem.

In case its software related issue, the recovery disk containing the configured Toshiba image should resolve this annoying issue.

hi

i have 3 Satellite C660 laptops all doing the same things,
The power is turning on and i get the green lights but no display on the screen. it only happens every so often.

Does anyone know what i could be is the mother board going or is it over heating?

Thank you

Answer:Satellite C660 - green lights but no display

I cannot say for sure what part might be affected but fact is that if Toshiba splash screen does not appear at the beginning of the booting procedure. This means that the power on self test isn?t started and cannot be passed properly. This might be related to motherboard problem or an part connected to the motherboard; ie. RAM modules.

If possible, I would recommend checking the single RAM modules.

High internal temperature could affect the notebook functionality too. But you can avoid such problems cleaning the cooling fans as well as the cooling grilles from time to time.

Were or how can I get this back to change the setting?

Hopefully could be kind enough to set me in the right area

Thanks in Advance

Answer:Satellite C660-1J2 - Changing the display colour

Hi milleras,

Sorry but that?s just confusing? Do you really mean the screen colour and not the screen brightness? Can you post a screenshot of this message?
What operating system you have?

The screen brightness you can change with FN+F6 and FN+F7 key combination but it has nothing to do with display colour.

Hello,

I am trying to view my laptop on an external device but am not sure if my laptop supports what I am trying to do. If anyone knows if I can do this or not, or whether there is a work around, I would greatly appreciate it.
I have a standard digital tv which I am attempting to use as an external display. I am using the VGA output port on my C660-2f7.

I have a VGA-to-AV/S-Video converter (i.e. the vga converts to both S-video and yellow, red and black av cables) and have connected all of the ports to the tv via S-Video-to-S-Video cable and AV-to-AV cables. Yet the computer does not seem to dectect anything. I have tried 'Connect to a projector' and 'Connect to an external device' on control panel, plus the equivielent on the hot keys, both 'duplicate' and 'extend'. On 'Change the appearance of your displays' I have set display to to VGA. On Intel's 'Graphic Properties'>general settings>display, I only have the options 'monitor' and 'built-in display'.

And under 'Graphic Properties'>monitor/tv settings' it says 'monitor/tv settings are not supported.' Does this mean I can not do what I am trying to do? and that my laptop only supports computer monitors and external display? If so, is there any workaround I can use with this or not?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite C660-2F7 - external display on TV via VGA output

Has your TV SCART port?
In the past I?ve tested few combinations using s-video port on my old notebook.

What you can try is to obtain VGA to SCART cable and check if this will help.

Unfortunately it is a bit complicated.

Hi,

I got satellite C series laptop from Media markt in Netherlands last month 20.09.2012.

20-09-2012(Thu-8:45 PM): I purchased the laptop
21-09-2012(Fri -11:00 PM): I try to install the OS and run into the @ & " Key mismatch fault. This is a clear defect in the system in the first place.
22-09-2012(Sat- 4:30 PM): I took the laptop to the store and asked for a replacement. The helpdesk team simply changed the settings and said it was fixed it and gave me the pack.
22-09-2012(Sat- 7:00 PM): When i tried logging in again to my laptop i found the display cracked.

When i searched in website i found many facing the same issue.
But atleast after some months are years.
But a brand new laptop without even using for a single day becoming unusable is not fair.

Now i am being asked to pay more than half of the actual price of the laptop to get it fixed.
I strongly feel that i have been given a defective piece of laptop and now being asked to pay for it.

Either i want a replacement for the one i bought or else i want to return my laptop and get back my money.

Kindly assist.

Thanks & Regards,
Dhivya.

*Problem 2:*
Sometimes screen freezes,it turns black and after 2-3 seconds it comes back. And a notification appears at the right bottom that saying " Nvidia driver has stopped working and have recovered 187.98'

I've got one dead pixel at right top of the screen. It looks like red in white background.(tried fix programs and massaging screen)

Is it possible to fix these problems? I've trusted "Toshiba" brand but i'm sure if i had bought another laptop i wouldn't experience these problems.

Hi,
I also have such problem as a computer freezing and notification " Nvidia driver has stopped working''. It' s because of display driver and we can't do anything, but only wait when Toshiba will release a new ,,improved driver,,

Hi all!

I have Toshiba Satellite C660-1GK for about year and a half. After 6 months my hard disk drive died.

First the laptop got really slow and then started the famous clicking sound from the disk.
I've made backup and checked the drive with Hirens tools. Toshiba diag won't even read it, S.M.A.R.T. said that his health is poor (30% or so), bad sectors started popping out.. so I've took the laptop to my ASP.

They replaced the disk and then, 13 months later (a week ago) the same story! Disk health went even lower (was at 11%) and bad sectors started jumping out like maniacs.
Again a trip to ASP.

I've got my laptop today with a new disk. After reading posts on this forum, I'm worried that it's or motherboard/power supply problem or we're just all with bad luck with drives.

I just can't accept that disks randomly die every 4-12 months as an answer. My last disk on HP laptop lasted 4 years! I have about five more months of warranty and I'm really not happy with situation. This laptop is on my work desk, has it's own station with a nice, big fan so it's not overheating - basically I've took it out of house last September.

I'm careful with it! But if this drive dies before end of year, maybe it's time to get a new laptop.
Not Toshiba this time :(

Please, do you have any thoughts, advices..?

Answer:Satellite C660-1GK - HDD partition C issue

Hi

Some years ago i purchased an notebook from another manufacturer.
My first HDD died after more than 2 years of usage. I bought another one, replaced the old HDD and the new HDD died after 4 month of usage.

Any HDD will die sooner or later because its expendable part? it?s a matter of HDD usage and matter of how you handle the unit.

In my opinion it?s a bad luck? of course its always pity if an HDD start to malfunction but I?m afraid there are no many options to prevent it.
Of course you could switch to an SSD drive which is much stable in use. I did it some month ago? I purchased the 250GB SSD drive and replaced the internal HDD

I am having an issue with the keyboard on my Satellite c660 laptop, part number: PSC1LE.
The best way I can describe it is as a stuttering problem because it comes and go's (fine for a few hours, then not for a short while).

The problem is that for reasons unknown to me I keep encountering a problem where the A, N and Enter keys do not work when pressed. Occasionally pressing the key repeatedly (they aren't jammed) just makes the letter come out, but I can't keep pressing the key five or six times to get one letter. Just to mention, I have not spilled anything on the keyboard.

I have done full anti-virus and spyware scans but have found no issues.
I have this evening done all of the windows updates available to me, however it doesn't seem to have done the trick.

After restarting the device following the updates all worked well for about 15 minutes, until the same three keys stopped working again. On this occasion it lasted only for a couple of minutes, and now I am writing this with the same keyboard.

Note: I am not using the original keyboard. I changed the board due to minor material damage but had it done privately.
However this was done the better part of a year ago and has worked perfectly since being installed, until this new issue occurred in the last few weeks.

If anyone has any further recommendations or suggestions as to what may be the cause or any solutions then please share them.

Answer:Satellite C660 - Keyboard issue

I think you would understand that nobody is able to say why your keyboard malfunctions.
Only if the notebook hardware has been checked/scanned, it would be possible to say what?s wrong here?
But generally speaking there is a good workaround to diagnose the problem.

You could connect the external USB keyboard to the notebook and could check if the same problems with the mentioned buttons will occur.

In case the external USB keyboard would work properly, I think that your internal keyboard is the troublemaker? in such case you would need to replace the keyboard once again.

Hello,

i have this notebook just about 2 months, so the solution of this problem cant be that my notebook is old and inside is dust..
if am i just surfing on internet, temperature of notebook is about 40-60 degress, but if am i gaming it goes quickly up (65-75)
- maybe after 2 hours gaming temperature goes up and i must quit game.
If temperature is about 75 degress, computer started to be noisy and i think it goes down..

What i have to do?
Thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite C660-11W - overheating issue

After reading your posting I don?t know what the problem is. The temperature you mentioned in your posting is not on critical level so I think there is no reason for panic.

When you want to play the game, close all useless applications, switch to high performance power plan and be sure notebook is placed properly on the desk. Cooling fans should not be blocked and notebook must be able to ?take a breath?.

Until there is no ?unexpected switch off? there is no reason for panic.

Hi,

i am having a kind of software glitch on my laptop. when i turned it on, it showed a message with options either to launch startup repair (recommended) or start windows normally. i chose the first option as that seem to be the recommended option and i thought this might repair if there was any damage. however, after the repair process was completed, it showed an error message with steps to install Windows. i am getting this message now everytime i turn my laptop on!

Since i have the software pre-isntalled on my laptop, i do not have the Windows 7 disc with me. this is really strange as i am unsure why this happened.

Although my laptop is covered with the warranty, i am not sure if it covers the software warranty too?

Please can some one advise me on the best way out of this problem.

its really very painful and irritating to deal with this, as its been just 5 months since i bought this laptop.

Looks like something has gone wrong with the installed OS.
Not sure why but it seems that you need to reinstall the windows once again.

> ince i have the software pre-isntalled on my laptop, i do not have the Windows 7 disc with me. this is really strange as i am unsure why this happened.

You did not receive any disks because the notebook supports the HDD recovery and additionally there was/is a option to create a own recover disk.
You could use the Recover disk creator software in order to create such disks?
But not sure if this would be possible now because of the error?

So would recommend starting the HDD recover as described here.

Hi I have just recently been provided a Satellite C660 for my further education, though I do believe in my haste to get it set up how I like to set up my computers I might of turned off the hot-keys now reading about on this forum I have found that to make them work again I will need to allow TOSHIBA Button Support to run at start up, but no matter how hard i try to find it on msconfig it no longer seems to be there, any one have any ideas about where I could find it on the C drive?

Though one of the strangest things I have noticed about this problem is that the volume hot-keys still work perfectly its just the rest of them.

EDIT

Just to let other people out there know I think I have solved my problem, here is the process I used to fix the hot-key issue.

Start menu - -> write msconfig in the search box on vista or windows 7 (if using XP type it into the run box) --> go to start up --> look for KeNotify Application and select it to run at start up.

There you have it it seemed to fix my issue so I hope it helps you out.

Hi there,

I have purchased a Satellite C660-17J and occasionally when I turn it on (holding the power button for 2 or three seconds and then releasing) - it doesn't seem to power on properly eg - fan starts - power light comes on - but not screen. If I hold the power button again it goes off. Then if I try again it will come on but the date and time resets itself to 2008.

Any ideas or will I have to send it back to Amazon as faulty? (could do without doing that!).

When you connect an external screen, can you see something on it or is it still black as internal screen?

> Then if I try again it will come on but the date and time resets itself to 2008.
Do you mean the time of Windows or BIOS?

Generally speaking I must say this is no normal behavior and in my opinion it?s something wrong with hardware itself. So I would contact an authorized service provider in your country and ask the guys to check your notebook what?s wrong with it because hardware repair is for free due warranty time ;)

Apologies if this is the wrong subforum:

Being the idiot I am, I changed my WIndows Login password and since I use very long passwords, I have no idea what I changed it to. Guessing is out of the question.

So I powered on my laptop while holding the 0 key, which brought me to the Windows Boot Manager screen. I pressed F8 on Windows 7 for advanced options and opted for 'Recovery Mode' as I have used this in the past to install the OS from scratch.

It asks me to select a keyboard layout and then enter my username and password to procede with HDD Recovery. It is this lack of password which is the reason for recovery.

Any advice on what I can do?

Thanks

Answer:HDD Recovery Issue on C660 Satellite

>It asks me to select a keyboard layout and then enter my username and password to procede with HDD Recovery. It is this lack of password which is the reason for recovery.
On this step you must enter your Windows login name and login password. Without right password you will not be able to start HDD recovery installation.

There is second option to install recovery image. You can do it now using recovery DVD. Have you created it using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator?

When my wife got off the plane a baggage handler helped her by pushing her mother in the wheelchair and dragging one of the bags behind him allowing my wife to take care of the rest of the luggage. Unfortunately the laptop that was sitting on top of that bag decided that it didn't like the ride, it jumped off the bag and tried to enter the terminal under its own battery power.

There is no visible damage to the laptop as it was inside the laptop bag and no cracks or anything on the screen. When the laptop turns on, the screen can remain blank, flicker or it will display the log on and desktop but instead of showing white it displays a pinkish purple, only white is affected not off white. Other colours display correctly although they do look as if the display is set to 256 colour or using the wrong driver.

I connected an external monitor to it and that works fine with full colour. If the laptop screen flickers a light tap to the back of it will get it to stay on but the colour isn't corrected. I am thinking that it may be just a loose connection or broken wire between the screen and the motherboard but not sure if the change in colour would be caused by this.

Satellite C660 (PSC1LA-00J001) looks brand new but I don't think it would be worth taking in to get fixed.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

It took me 2 1/2 hours to post this exact same message because somewhere in there is profanity or inappropriate language. :(

Answer:Satellite C660 - screen issue

Hello

On this virtual way it is not possible to say for sure what is wrong there. Your notebook must be disassembled and all must be checked. Graphic card seems to be OK so there must be some problem with connectors, cable or with the display itself.
>Satellite C660 (PSC1LA-00J001) looks brand new but I don't think it would be worth taking in to get fixed.
Why not? Even display exchange is not so problematic. Googling around you will find many online stores where you can order new display, if necessary. Even on eBay you can get it for reasonable price.

If you don't have experience with this stuff I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider or some independent IT service and ask for help. Check which options are available and how much you must pay for repair.

Hey Guys,

I've been having an on and off issue with my touchpad for at least a couple of months now. I've tried doing the function +F9 thing with little effect. I also re-downloaded the synaptics driver which seems to make it work for a little while but then it started working only sporadically.

Currently my touchpad works some of the time, if it fails at first pressing Ctrl Alt Del and then Esc seems to make it work for a little while longer but after that it simply stops working. I'm a student and not having a fully functioning laptop is often a great hindrance so any help would be great.

Answer:Satellite Pro C660 - on and off issue with the Touchpad

Hi

My first question is: when did you notice this touchpad issue.

I mean, the Sat Pro C660 is an older notebook and if this issue did not appear from first day of purchase, then something has affected the touchpad functionality in the past.

The question is: is there something wrong with software or maybe touchpad module.
I think this can be answered only settings the notebook back to factory state.
If you recover the notebook using Toshiba recover disk, you will get exactly the same state like at the first day of purchase.

If touchpad would still not work properly, well then there is some hardware problem

Last year I purchased a Satellite C660-1G3 laptop from UK; even today, I am using the factory settings, and running the originally installed Windows 7 OS. The following is the issue that I started facing yesterday onwards:
- Even when the battery is well-plugged and the laptop running, the Power Meter indicates a falling charge level, with the "Plugged in, Not Charging" notification. The orange LED keeps blinking

- However, when I completely shut-down the laptop, without touching anything (not even touching the adapter or the power cord), the orange LED indicating battery charging process stops blinking and becomes stable

- On re-starting the laptop, for about 1 minute or so, the battery appears to be charging (orange LED not blinking and "Plugged in, Charging" message). However, soon the orange LED again starts blinking and the nuisance message again comes up

A couple of things:
- the battery seems to be working fine and charging properly when laptop is shutdown (in fact, till a couple of days back, the battery used to show 2:30 hours of time available on 100% charged level)
- is there some issue with the Operating system? no idea on that

can experts help me in resolving this issue? I do not really want to approach the Service Center due to long distance involved.

regards
- Biren

Answer:Re: Satellite C660-1G3 - "Plugged in, Not Charging" issue

Hi Biren

Not sure if I can help you but I would like to provide you some tips.

1) Check if your BIOS is up to date. If Toshiba European driver page provides newer version, then update the BIOS. Additionally set the BIOS to default pressing F9 and save changed pressing F10.
2) Try to calibrate the battery. To calibrate the battery you should discharge the battery completely and charge the battery again. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times in the row.
3) Remove the battery and AC adaptor and press power button (30 sec long) then connect both parts and check if the LED would start blinking again.

Finally I think that the notebook should be tested using new, good working battery. But if the issue would still persist, then I would assume that your motherboard might be affected.

I have been using a foldable keyboard and a remote keyboard and have been having problems:

1.Characters not showing when typed.
2.Cursor jumping from typing position to another place usually outside the box that I am typing in.
3.Characters repeating while typing.
4.Actions ie Backspace not operating.

These problems do not seem to happen in Gmail and are not happening as I type this.
The problems have occurred so far in Google Calendar,a text doco and login to a site.
The problem did occur with the on board keyboard once so I am wondering if it is a malfunction or a virus.

Any ideas ?.

Hi all

I was updating BIOS on TOSHIBA SATELLITE C660-13R from windows 7 64 bits. Downloaded driver from toshiba web. Half way the installation laptop freezes. I have left it for 40 mins to run but it did not get back to normal state. As motherboard fan has started to move on high speed I decided to take battery out. In result when I power back my laptop I have 1 beep from the motherboard and black screen.

Can some one help me please ?

Answer:Satellite C660-13R - BIOS update issue

Obviously the BIOS update procedure has failed. Something went wrong during the update process and it looks like the EMRPOM module has not been flashed properly.
This is the reason why the notebook does not work anymore.

Possible solution?
Well, if EMPROM isn?t damage, it should be possible to re-flash the BIOS module once again using special BIOS version and BIOS crisis disk.
Usually the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country should be able to re-flash the module using such crisis disk.

I read also in this forum that some people managed to re-flash the EPROM module using some 3rd party crisis disk found somewhere in the internet? but this did not work always?
So probably the ASP will be your last resort?

However, use the forums advanced search option to find related threads about the BIOS crisis disk? could be interesting for you

Good day, fellow Toshiba notebook owners.

I have a little trouble upgrading my BIOS to a "newer" (according to Tempro) version.
I just installed the Tempro application, and it detected that my BIOS needs an upgrade, so I naturally downloaded the "new" BIOS. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install it, a message popped up in the install window:

"*The program will be closed!* There is an error occurred, please check below items. Bios version above 190. Battery capacity more than 10%. AC is attached."

No matter what I do, I get the same error, over and over again. I looked the problem up before I posted this thread, and other people encountered it, but, unlike my case, advices like "Close all background applications", "Charge your battery", or "Make sure the AC is attached" really helped them.

I tried closing everything, my battery is always fully charged, as I rarely disconnect the AC adapter, and, of course, the AC connection issue is not the cause, since it is almost always plugged in.

I checked my BIOS version in +msinfo32.exe+ and it is 1.90 already, but I remember upgrading it months ago (sooner than the release date of this last version), and if, hypothetically, I have the last version already installed, why doesn't Tempro acknowledge it and keeps alerting me over a non-existent issue?

Maybe there is something wrong with Tempro, but I just need to be sure before... Read more

Answer:Satellite C660 - 1C7: BIOS upgrade issue

Hi

Tempro notify you about new uploaded drivers or BIOS?
The Toshiba European driver page provides all the drivers and BIOS files and the latest BIOS version 1.90-win has been uploaded at 04.06.2012 and therefore you received this notification by Tempro software.

Who knows why they uploaded this file once again.. but fact is that your BIOS is up to date and therefore you cannot update the BIOS once again using the one and the same version.

Hi Mariel

It would be interesting and useful to know what notebook model you have.
Secondly did you try to reinstall or update the display driver?

Please do that.

Hello,

I've been trying to get a game called Football Manager 2008 to work on this laptop for a long time. I've trawled the Internet for a solution to my problems running it, but I haven't found anything that works for me. In fact, the majority of the time, the problem seems to be solved by the person updating their graphics driver.

I've been trying to find an update that works for me, but I've not found anything so far.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Hi there,
I want to backup my C660-10F harddisk to a network storage using Ghost 15 Recovery Disk CD. Therefore I have to configure the bootable Recovery Disk CD with the C660-10F LAN driver for XP 32bit to get access to the network when booting from this CD. When I'm using the lan-en-20101105155404.zip file with the XP drivers from the Toshiba download page I get the error message

Cannot copy a 64-bit hardware device driver to a 32-bit Srd image. One or more binary files listed in ... does not match the target SRD platform

It seems that the XP drivers contain partly 64-bit files. Same problem when using the original Realtek drivers for PCIe FE Family Controller! Where can I get functioning 32-bit XP drivers for the LAN controller of the C660-10F?

Thanks,
Franz

Answer:Satellite C660-10F - Need Windows XP 32bit LAN driver

Hi lagraf,

All Windows XP drivers on Toshiba website are for 32bit XP version because 64bit was never supported.

Everything what you can do is testing the Realtek drivers directly:

If it doesn?t work I think you have to contact the external HDD directly. The most NAS devices also have USB port.

I am trying to update the driver for the Intel HD graphics on my Satellite C660-22v. The most recent version of the driver on the Toshiba support download is already installed, but Intel have a newer driver which needs to be used.

Unfortunately the driver on the Intel site wont update as it says that it needs Toshiba specific driver needed ie Toshiba has customised the Intel drive.

Anyone know a way around this or is there an updated driver available? Thanks.

Answer:How to install driver for Intel HD on Satellite C660-22V?

Okay I sorted this for anyone else that gets stuck. Download the driver from Intel as a zip file. Uninstall the toshiba one then install the intel one.

Why is the Toshiba driver not updated by Toshiba? Caused a lot of hassle for a new laptop.
