Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

Question: Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to upgrade my drivers, so I connected myself on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my laptop is not referenced on the site, there are well *M70-168* and *M70-170* but not *M70-169*
I tried the reconnaissance by serial number, result: NOT RECOGNIZED

I tested the autod?tection, and there too, the result was: NOT RECOGNIZED.
I am astonished that my laptop is not recognized on the official site of TOSHIBA, whereas I had bought it in a store.

Somebody can tell me if he had the same problem, and give me the indications in order to upgrade my laptop?

Thank you

Preferred Solution: Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

Satellite M70 is pretty old notebook model and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn?t work properly. Your notebook is European model and has part number PSM70E (very important for search).
Anyway you can find all drivers or updates manually. Please do it as follow:

Visit Toshiba download page under
Choose follow options:
Product type - ARCHIVE
Product series - SATELLITE M SERIES
Model - SATELLITE M70 (PSM70)
Short Model No - PSM70E
Operating system - your OS

And all available stuff will be listed there.

If you have more questions let us know.

Hi folks.

Background: got a Toshiba Satellite P100 PSPA3C-SD300E from a friend. I decided that I wanted to partition the drive and just give it a clean format using my XP disc, and I'd just get the drivers off the Toshiba site since he lost his Toshiba recovery disc.

Issue: Having wiped it clean, the laptop isn't recognizing the LAN card and, by extension, the wireless card, both of which worked perfectly before the format. I have downloaded the drivers for my model from the Toshiba website - the LAN drivers don't come with an installer but I navigated through to them via Device Manager (Other Devices --> Network Controller) and attempted an install, which didn't work. Without that, the wireless driver setup is pointless.

Then I downloaded the Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool and in its basic information, under Network, it says "None."

So, it looks like my craptop is not recognizing that the card exists. Has anyone run into this problem before? How can I get it to recognize the card and install the drivers?

PS: Don't hesitate to let me know if I need to list any other specs - I'm just in a bit of a hurry at the moment.

Hi... we are working on a computer for a family member. Windows has slowed down incredibly, they had multiple viruses and spyware... we tried to clean it off for them but decided it would be easier to just do a reinstall.

We have been googling, going to various tech sites, etc., and cannot figure this out. The CD drive was not recognized in Windows and wouldn't work... we thought it was just part of their other computer problems. Upon rebooting... it won't boot from the CD ROM (which is a Toshiba brand, factory drive). We already checked the boot order, CD ROM is set first, HDD second. No network boot enabled. So, we thought the drive was bad. We bought a new drive... put it in... same issue. I find it hard to believe we got two bad drives one after the other. Windows of course doesn't recognize it either. Both of the drives act like they can read... they flash... you hear them running... but it doesn't show up and won't allow us to boot into anything, not Windows, not Linux... nothing... from the CD ROM. It just will not boot from anything but the hard drive (and no option to boot from USB).

We are at a loss as to what to try next. We tried looking for jumpers, cables, etc., but it doesn't have them. Any suggestions?

I possess an A200 satellite laptop, and I am not able to find any driver for it on Toshiba site !!
- its serial number (X8172841K) is not recognized , the message is : "Sorry , your product cannot be found" [translated from French]
- the support site cannot detect my laptop model
- none of the drivers that I have downloaded (closest to A200) accept to install

Can u help me ?

S?bastien (France)

Answer:Re: Satellite Serial number not recognized by Toshiba support

If the serial number is not detected by ?Automatic detection? you can find drivers manually.

Maybe you have the same A200 as friend of mine. His notebook has part number PSAE6E.
To find right drivers please visit Toshiba download and support page under > Support & Downloads > Support Homepage and at the bottom you will find link ?Download drivers?.

Go there and choose your notebook model with right short model number.

If you need more help please let me know.

BTW: have you tried to find right drivers on Toshiba France support page?

Toshiba laid out on the site archive **, which contains the *corrupted* file!
HERE is the link.
It is packed with file *TC20043100A.exe* (if there is an error decompressing checksum CRC). Windows 7 also can not run TC20043100A.exe so I can not install *Value Added Package*

Lay, please file a *corrected* !

Answer:Satellite L - VAP on Toshiba website is corrupted

Are you sure that the file is corrupted?
I have even downloaded the file and I didn?t get any CRC error. It was successful to unzip the file so I can?t notice any problem.

In my opinion you should try it again. Maybe the download wasn?t successful.

Good luck! :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite p750 laptop and I recently sent it away for repairs as the hard drive crashed. It came back with a new hard drive installed but now the wireless capability is not recognised. I have switched on wifi with the F8 key but there is nothing. A previous post suggested "Control Panel, Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right click Wireless adapter, click Enable." but when I expand on Network Adaptors the only subheading there is for "Realtek .... family controller."

Please help me as I don't know where to go from here.

Why? is it a Fake?

Answer:Why Satellite Pro L100-124 is not listed on Toshiba website?

Maybe you know it or not but Toshiba delivers many notebooks from the same series but the notebook are not very different. The sub models are possibly different in the hardware configuration. You know; different HDD sizes, CPU speed, etc?

I have googeld a little bit for this numer and I found the notebook on a Toshiba Poland site. It?s a polish language: &tab=3

However, you can check the Toshiba Europe site and you will find the different notebook and also the Satellite Pro L100 series:

I downloaded the following drivers (for my Notebook; Satellite A10-163 Model number : PSAA9E)

I unzipped each of these and can only find a PROUnstl.exe file, which un-installs any existing drivers; I cannot find a "Setup.exe" or anything that sets up either of my wired or wireless networking cards. I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Is there anywhere I can get a driver that has an easier to use "install.exe" file in it?

Is there anyone that can help me over-come this problem?

Answer:LAN Drivers from Toshiba Website - won't work - Satellite A10-163

First of all, all drivers which are available on the Toshiba driver page should works properly. I?m 100% sure about this. If you don?t find any setup.exe or install.exe in the driver folder so you have to use another driver installation procedure.
Go to the device manager, choose the LAN card and install the driver. Please choose the driver form the driver download place.

I would like to refresh my Windows. I reinstalled to Win 7 - 32bit.
My problem is, when i try enter my notebook model in Toshiba driver search, there is no matches... for any windows.
Just simple Toshiba deasn't recognise my notebook model...

Can someone help me...

It's radiculous...

Best regards...

Answer:Satellite A200-1GM - no drivers on official Toshiba website

Your files aren't stored in the main Toshiba files, which probably means Toshiba no longer supports your model. But they are still stored in the listed archives. This is all the files I could find for your device Windows 7 32bit

Important drivers

Firmware: You will need at least one of these but not all, use the one you know you had before the refresh. If you don't know which one you had then use the top one.

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. This seems to occur with most Toshiba laptops that I have ever had anything to do with. Trying to find drivers, BIOS etc is a real PITA. I'm trying to find downloads for a Satellite L500 PSLS6A-00X013 but it doesn't show up any where. The serial number search is as useless as the part number search. Am I missing something?

My Toshiba Satellite U500 - 1DR series notebook (Serial no . 1A058758R) is not detected by the TOSHIBA online autodetect system. When try to get notebook detected manually on the website, I fingd that the model (Satellite U500- 1DR) is listed neither in the list of available models nor in that of discontinued models. I am unable to download appropriate softwares/updates from the website.

Answer:Satellite U500-1DR series Notebook is not detected by the TOSHIBA Website

If autoetection doesn?t work you can find it manually but not using model name but model part number. Your U500-1DR has part number PSU9ME-xxxxx so please check Toshiba download page under and check for Satellite U500 with part number or short model number PSU9ME.

I have tried to use the downloads page on the Toshiba website: It gives me no response, no list of products, nothing, whether I try to use the drop-down lists or enter my laptop's part number directly.
And it does the same using another laptop too.

Am I doing something wrong?

What a strange question?.
If you have some problems with you notebook you have to contact the authorized service provider in your country.
The technicians should help you.
But listen; if your notebook is out of warranty (and I think it is) you will have to pay for the reparation!!

But what?s a problem with you unit???

I have a Toshiba external hard drive which has had some issues lately. It is not recognized in "My Computer" and I am unable to access any of the data on it. In Disk Management it appears under a black bar in the Disk 1 row.

When I try to initialize the drive in Disk Management I get an error saying: (Data error) cyclic redundancy check. I have also tried renaming the drive through DISKPART but that didn't seem to solve anything either.

The attached screencap is what I get in disk management.

This is very frustrating and any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello! I'm having an issue with an old Sony Vaio Laptop PCG F-350, I upgrade the Hard Drive with a brand new Toshiba 40GB, the problem is when I start up the system the Bios saw the HDD for the first time as 40GB then I installed XP on the system and crash on a BSOD, I forgot to write down the error message but that's not the issue, I tried then Win2000 but after finishing the installation it won't boot. So I went into Bios and No HDD detected, my first thought was repartition the HDD and reformat, but then every utility I've tried recognize the drive as 32 GB, so I go with Maxtor Low Level Format and run it for this HDD without any luck, I run it again and then it recognizes only 8 GB, what's wrong? I don't get it, the HDD it's supposed to be brand new, and I don't know any toshiba HDD utility to solve this kind of issues. Could you please point me in the right direction. Thanks

Answer:Toshiba HDD is not recognized at full Capacity

The Toshiba is currently the best laptop drive in terms of reliability and ease of use... so it is usually not a problem... but can always have been damaged in shipment.
The Maxtor software is not designed for the Toshiba. You are better off just using windows to format it.
You may have a Sony so old that it will only work with a small capacity drive. Some Sony units worked only with a 6.2, 8.4, 13, and 32 gigabyte drives, depending on the time and bios.. Usually, you can upgrade the bios to handle larger drive sizes. This unfortunely is not often true of Sony. They make it very difficult to make changes to older Sony VAIO computers.
But I don't know your Sony VAIO model. My guess, from what you described, is that you need to partition the drive as a 32 GB unit, unless you can find the BIOS update on the SONY site.
Be sure you properly configured/setup the drive when you installed it? If you bought a bare drive, and not one in a nice box with an install disk, you need to perform the format using Windows.
There is no drive fitness software on the Toshiba site.
Also, check to assure the jumper is correct for your cable connection. Som Toshiba drives are shipped with the jumpers misplaced.
Otherwise, I would just find a Windows 98Se Startup/Boot or MS-DOS floppy disc from your junk box or a friend, and use FDisk to change the partitions to a 32 and an 8 GB.

I had an equim A200 however it is now broken, I wanted to put my hard drive in another Toshiba, I tried the A100 as a friend had one but wouldnt work. I have another friend who has an A300 which I am going to try on weekend but not sure if it will work in that either.

Any idea the reason why the A200 hard drive wont work in A100? Sorry my knowledge on computers isn't great?!

Basically I bought a label software which I was using, I installed it on my partners laptop and emailed the company and they said I'd have to buy a new license (which cost me 200usd!) for a new laptop!

I've bought a second hand A100 and managed to key code from hard drive however when I come to print it still has the company watermarks over the labels so it is basically useless.

I managed to get files off hard drive when it was in linux computer, well, a friend did it for me anyway!

This second (NEW) harddisk is recognized when I check in the Bios as well as in the Device Manager. The Problem is, that I can't see the second harddisk in the disk management utility, where I should partition and format the new disk.
I tried also to find out if I should update my Bios, but on the Lenovo forum I could only find that this is not possible.
Does anyone has a clue what I could do to activate the HD?
Many thanks for your help, Pingong24

Hello there! Please let me preface this by saying that I am practically a caveman when it comes to computers. I plug things in and they work (or not). Some of the similar threads I've seen have been unhelpful to me because of the jargon. So here is the situation:

I have a Toshiba 1TB External Hard Drive that I've been using for some time with my Acer Aspire laptop to store my music collection. The Acer has Windows 7 Home Premium, and I use the Windows Media Player to "rip" CDs onto the Toshiba.

I also use my computer at work (during lunch and breaks - Shhh...don't tell) to "rip" CDs the same way since the computer at work is much, much faster. I believe that computer is Windows 7 as well. I've been doing this back and forth since last year.

Lately, as in the last couple of weeks, the work computer recognizes the Toshiba as usual but my Acer laptop does not. The Hard Drive light is on but doesn't flash, and there's no sound from it. It doesn't show up at all in "Computer" or "Disk Drives" under "Device Manager". Could it be that there's too much on the drive now for my laptop to handle (laptop memory is "138 GB free of 218 GB")? Could it be the Media Player (which is sometimes very slow)?

Something else to mention which may or may not make a difference is that occasionally the Hard Drive creates its own folders or erases mine when I'm storing music, especially with CDs ... Read more

ok...first thanks in advance for your attention to this. I have a Toshiba Laptop Satellite P305 connect to Seagate Go Flex thru USB port - the drive is recognized on another lap top so it works - the port on this computer recognized a portable usb so it works along with an OLDER seagate external - when I pull up the computer panel the Seagate is not showing up under disk management but IS showing up under other devices. I have spent hours and hours on this - someone at Toshiba said something about changing Bios settings but I am very gun shy on doing that especially since I use this computer for my job and if I mess it up I am out....if you get what the heck?? I have searched A MILLION forums and been on with both Toshiba and Seagate for hours - hats off to anyone that knows a simple solution to this - thanks

Hello all,

Question regarding upgrading RAM for my laptop.

This is my setup:
- Toshiba laptop L755-1D5
- Intel Core i7-2670
- 4 gig ram
- Windows Home Premium 64 Bit

So I wanted to add some more RAM (2GB) and I ordered some named Ramaxel "RMT1970ED48E8F1333".
The problem is that it doesn"t get recognized in Windows and in the BIOS.

What I did:

- I swapped 4GB and the new 2GB because I have 2 slots. BIOS still showed 4GB.
- I solely used the 2GB but the system won't boot up.
- I updated the BIOS, no use.
- The "Intel Turbo boost" is enabled.
- The "Maximum memory" option in the boot options tab of msconfig is disabled.

I used CPU-Z to find out if Windows recognizes the added RAM and it does.
Both RAM are SO-DIMM, DDR3 SDRAM which use a memory speed of DDR3-1333 and are 64 bit.

I saw that the Windows 7 Home Premium can have more than 4 gig ram.

Someone has an idea of what could be the root cause of Windows/BIOS not recognizing my added RAM?

The person who finds the solution is golden!

Answer:Toshiba Laptop RAM Upgrade not recognized in windows

Hello and welcome stoes now mate when you order comments it is always a good idea to check the Toshiba site for compatibility and when you are checking you need to quote the PART NO: as in my pic as that denotes where it was made and where it was made for .

A good way of telling what you have in RAM and if it is even compatible with the other - is to use my ditty here and in PART B: you will see VERY detailed info on the RAM sticks see my pic - you will need to scroll down the screen to see it all. You might even see they are not really close in the specs

Personally I do not like mixing brands and one large stick is always better than two smaller ones because it will be the most matched in specs.

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download theright bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scrolldown to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see mypic. Now the section you want will be labelled - fpr example Asus boardsusually have "Nuvoton" and Gigabyte boards "ITE" in anycase the section you want will have Vbatt or VBAT in it (dead give away)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for thatbut for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main lefthand side panel
Open each small square with + in it on the section the compone... Read more

Tonight for the first time I attempted to view pictures on an SDHC card on my new (Windows 7) Toshiba laptop. After inserting the card I was very surprised to find that my laptop does not recognize it. It doesn't show up under Devices with Removable Storage, nor does the Memory Card Reader light up. Is there something I must do in order to activate it? I felt sure it would've been automatically detected. I would greatly appreciate any offers of help. Thank you.

Answer:Solved: SDHC card not recognized on new Toshiba laptop

Well, all I did was reinsert the card and, for some reason, it's now working fine!

In the support area of the Toshiba site under downloads, I select +notebooks+ from the drop down, then +qosmio, G50, 04j+ then I get a blank when entering my serial.

I realise that this model has been removed from sale, though I had hoped that it would still be supported....

Can anyone help?

Answer:Qosmio G50 - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

On which Toshiba website you are searching for drivers/downloads and what are you searching exactly for your notebook?

Furthermore it makes no difference if the notebook will be sale or not. Older notebook models can be founded in Archive.

My friend's in the market for a new computer; for various reasons, it looks like Toshiba will be the brand of choice.
(foremost among them being local-area service/support in Indonesia, where she'll be for 3+ years).
That said, the only Toshibas that we've been able to get some hands-on 'look and feel' sessions with were
the Satellites (i.e. the entry-level machines); they were... OK... the build quality felt... well, retail-ish =p
Anyone have experience with the next tier up, the Satellite Pro models?
Presumably the build quality is at least on par with the Satellites; any better? Appreciablly better, that is?
If simply on par, she may as well get a Satellite and take her chances...
Thanks in advance.

hi all, I'm new to the forum and I'm having trouble getting my laptop to recognizes 2x1GB kingston DDR2 both identical cards.

I originaly had 512MB card and replaced that with the too 1GB cards booted up and system only showing 896MB so asumed 1 of the cards was faulty. Removed 1 of the cards and left 1 in the bottom slot, rebooted and still 896MB, changed that 1 over with the other 1GB card and booted and same 896MB or something. So both cards work in bottom slot but not together so I then thought maybe the top slot wasnt working.
Tried both of the 1GB cards by themselves in the top slot and both are showing 896MB.

So I then tried the original 512mb with 1 of the1GB cards and low a behold system reading 1.37g of ram. My question is how can i get both the 1GB RAMs to work so system reads 2GB?

Before we start a long discussion you should post what notebook model you are use. The maximum usage of RAM is depending on the mainboard, chipset and BIOS.

But at the moment it sounds like that the modules are not compatible to your notebook.

This is a classic question. It needs more than just a pointer to where the driver is located.
If you install a clean Windows you need to add a number of drivers in a special order to make your machine work properly.
Not just one or two drivers.

Here's the list which shows you the order and which drivers to install:

And here's the link to where you can find your model and the corresponding downloads:

Dear all,

I just bought the Toshiba Satellite C50-A-U19 (pscg6e) with windows 8 64bit 3 days ago. The HDMI connection to my TV worked for 2 days, but right now the laptop does not display the TV as a device.

I've tried several booting sequences, and tried to "find new hardware" in the device manager. I've changed HDMI ports on the TV. Still, there is no sign that the TV is recognized. I've tried using <winkey> + <p> but because no additional monitor is detected nothing happens.

I've changed the HDMI cable, and tested the cable (and the TV HDMI port) by using a playstation.

I've downloaded and installed the latest display drivers from the toshiba website. I tried using the device manager to see if any additional updates are available, windows tells me i've got the latest drivers already.

I've used the "restore system" function to set the configuration back one day, but to no avail. I've spent about 3 hours trying to solve this problem and I'm so frustrated right now.

I'm absolutely clueless what else i can do at this point to get the HDMI to link up with my TV. All help will be greatly appreciated. please please please help me!

At first I must write something that has nothing to do with described problem: please create recovery media using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. It is very important to do this with new notebook.

As I can see you have tried almost everything but as last step I recommend you to install OS again using this created recovery media. After doing this notebook will have ?factory settings? again. It will be interesting to know if everything will work again when notebook has ?factory settings? again.

I changed my old hard disk (60GB) with one from 160GB but my laptop doesn't recognize this size. He gives me only 127GB. I updated my BIOS and updated WXP to SP3
I also tried with partition magic. The curious thing is that sometimes it happens that partition magic sees the 160GB, than I can extend the size from 127 to 160GB and I can create an extra partition (D drive) from lets say 40GB.

When I copy data to that partition I get an error and my laptop just stops.
After reboot it says that it can't find a operating system.

Can somebody help me please?

Answer:New HDD on Satellite Pro L10 is not recognized properly

I am afraid there is no much to do. Either is whole HDD capacity recognized properly or you must accept that BIOS can not handle with this HDD. This notebook model is almost 4 years old and I can imagine there is some BIOS limitation.

Maybe you should be happy with 120 GB HDD. And this 160 GB one you can use as external HDD.

One more thing: have you noticed any functionality problem after SP3 installation?

Has anybody got the same kind of issue?

What can I do?

Answer:Satellite A - USB modem sometimes not recognized

What notebook you have exactly?

Well, it?s really hard to say what the reason is because you are running only beta OS that could contain a lot of problems. Windows 7 isn?t released as yet and so it?s also a little bit difficult to get drivers or support.

But have you installed a driver for the modem? Normally you can use the Windows Vista drivers. The most of them are also work on Windows 7.
Furthermore I recommend updating the chipset driver. You can also try the Vista version from the Toshiba page.

is there any solution?

Answer:Satellite L30: Usb device not is recognized

Hmm?. You should firstly disconnect all USB external devices.
Then go to the device manger and remove all USB root hubs and USB host controllers.
Then reboot the notebook.

After this procedure the OS should recognize and should install the ports again.
Now you could connect some plug-and play devices. These devices should be recognized automatically. But some external USB devices need additional drivers.
Generally such drivers are delivered together with the USB device.

I would recommend checking this if necessary!

First of all I am Dutch so I hope I don't make too many mistakes in my English writing.

I bought a Satellite 2800-200 from a friend. This laptop has a problem.

My bios is ACPI BIOS version 1.80
In Pheripheral in Bios it says Hard Disk Mode = not used.

On page two Drives i/o : HDD: No drive.

I tried two hard disks and both were not working and not recognized in BIOS.
I have no recovery CD.

My questions:

What type of mainframe has this laptop?
Can anybody help me with the recovery CD?
What can I do to solve this problem?
How can I change my BIOS so that the HDD is recognized?

My Hard disk is MK2023GAS and is not broken. There is nothing on this HDD.
But also with the original 10 GB hard disk I had the same problem.

I hope you can help me and again I apologize for my English.

Answer:HDD is not recognized on Satellite 2800-200

I will try to help you buddy.

> When it is started is says "Insert system disk in drive. Press any key when ready
This message appeared on my notebook after the HDD has died.
I had to replace the HDD and to install the OS again.

I assume it?s the same problem with your notebook. The HDD is not present or not recognized and you have to install a compatible HDD to get the OS running.

I have googled a little bit and found out that this notebook was delivered with the 10GB Toshiba MK1016GAP HDD. It supports the ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4/ATA-5 interface.

Please note that many BIOS have an HDD size limitation. This means that not all HDD sizes are supported! I presume a 20GB should be compatible but this is only my own opinion?
> How can I change my BIOS so that the HDD is recognized?
The BIOS cannot be changed apart from the update (check Toshiba driver page -> Archive -> Satellite Archive).
But vary important is that you will use a compatible HDD.

> Can anybody help me with the recovery CD?
Don?t know if you will be able to order this CD from the authorized service provider in your country because the notebook is really an oldie. But you should ask the guys.
What you could is to install the OS from the Microsoft CD and then could install some necessary drivers.

I have an old A10-501 with an 30GB hard disk drive that just broke. I have bought an new one (Hitachi, 40GB, 5400rpm, ATA/IDE) but it is not recognised. I went into the BIOS, but nothing.

I have reformated my old drive, and it works quite fine (but very noisy) on a partition limited to half of the capacity. I could find that the problem is on the second half. This is just to say that I don't believe the motherboard is damaged.

So I would like to know if there is any limitation on changing the HDD. Or any specific strick.

Thank you

Answer:New 40GB HDD on Satellite A10-501 not recognized

Yes. There are some limitations!
If the HDD size is too large the BIOS will not recognize the connected HDD!
But to be honest I don?t think the 40GB HDD is too large. The notebook was equipped with a 30GB 4200rpm HDD, so in my opinion the 40GB HDD should works too.

Furthermore the notebook supports an enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface.
ATA-5 means Ultra DMA 4 and you can expect the data transfer performance of max 66,6 MB/s.

My recommendation is to test an 30GB HDD which supports 4200rpm and the max 66,6 MB/s.
If you want you could try to set the BIOS to the default settings firstly before you will insert the new 40GB HDD. Sometimes this helps!

Yes you can but none of those products offer a decent defragging method and defragging is not really required that much either.

The old DVD-Drive didn't work anymore, so I bought a new DVD-Drive (SonyNEC Optiarc AD-7593A).
But the system doesn't recognize the new drive at all.

I can't boot from CD and in the hardwaremanager there is no CD/DVD.

But the drive is working. If I put a CD in, you can hear how it is spinning up.
If I put the old drive in, it is recognized in the hardwaremanager, but the drive doesn't work anymore.

Any Ideas?

Answer:Re: New DVD-Drive is not recognized - Satellite 5200-801

> But the drive is working. If I put a CD in, you can hear how it is spinning up.

This says nothing!! You can hear the drive spinning because it?s connected to the notebook and it?s powered.

Important is the BIOS! Is your new CD/DVD drive recognized in the BIOS??

If not, then you bought NOT compatible CD/DVD drive!!!

I think the master/slave/c-sel settings are not compatible with the notebook and therefore the CD/DVD drive cannot be recognized.

I bought a S500-11C In July. I set it up with a start up password and it seemed ok. Switch on, enter password and away you go.
I wrote the password down "Just in case"

Due to circumstances the laptop was then not used for about two months. It now does not recognise the password and will not start up.

What can I do to rectify this?

Answer:Satellite Pro S500-11C - Password not recognized

Hi Anchorage,

To be a little bit more detailed, which password you mean exactly?

There are several types of BIOS passwords:
-HDD password
-BIOS user password
-BIOS supervisor password
-Windows password

So what password you mean exactly?

Hi all

I have a Satellite L355.

One day I was restoring the laptop to the time when I bough it.
Suddenly after all I insert restore CD into my drive and it wan't recognize my CD drive.
Nothing shows in My Computer either in BIOS.

I have already removed the UPPER and LOWER filter in registry and still nothing.
The CD drive not even try to start when I restart the laptop. How I should get it to work?
I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

Thank You

Answer:Satellite L355 - CD\DVD Drive Not Recognized

> Nothing shows in My Computer either in BIOS
Sounds like hardware issue? I mean if the BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive (no details are listed) then its hardware based issue.

Just one question; Is the ODD (optical disk drive) listed in the device manager?
Can you see something like yellow exclamation marks?

Did you try to boot using different disks like Win XP CD or Linux Live CD?
Check this!

My laptop doesn't recognize the CD/DVD drive, and when I press the button to open it to put in a disk, it doesn't open, but the light comes on and it makes a sound as if it were working. Whenever I go into the control panel, system, and then to device manager, the computer says the drive is working.

Answer:Satellite U305 - CD/DVD Drive Not Recognized

You can eject the CD/DVD drive using a small object like a stapler.
There is a small hole near the eject button.
Put the stapler into this small hole and you will be able to eject the disk.

Hi guys,

From one day to another my Satellite A500 stopped recognizing ANY device linked by USB (Camera, phone ..). The USB cables work, the devices work on their own, I just can't connect them to my laptop. On the Control Panel under devices and printers I can see an icon for the phone, the camera etc with a yellow triangle asking to trouble shoot. The trouble shoot does not work. Error message

Package ID: Device Center Diagnostic
Path: Unknown
Error Code 0x8E5E0247
Source: Engine
user: user-PC/user
Context: relevated

I have actually just discovered a message on the Control Panel that 'This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.'

What does this mean? How can I fix this?

I'm very much hoping one of you guys could help. Please remember you are dealing with a Neanderthal. I would very much appreciate if you could post any possible fixes in easy to follow steps ;)

Thank you!

I have a Satellite A500 and I cannot seem to get the computer to recognize the keystrokes when I am typing in my password to get into the computer. Therefore I cannot get into the computer at all. The cursor is blinking in the password box and when I click with the mouse it recognizes that function too but I can't go any further.
This has occurred a number of times now and it has been really inconvenient

Does anyone have a solution for this please? Is this to do with tapping? FN + F9 don?t work.

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 - Keyboard isn't recognized

Hi Aussie,

Do you mean the password of your Windows user account? Normally if you start the computer you can start with password enter because the cursor blinks already in password box.

Can you enter the password if you connect an external keyboard? If yes it would mean the internal keyboard is malfunctioning. Furthermore it would be interesting to know if you can access the BIOS by pressing F2 key on internal keyboard. So you can check if the problem is software related or not.

By the way: FN+F9 can only disable/enable the touchpad but not the keyboard.

I've got a Toshiba Satellite L500 and I've just updated (cleanly, include formatting) to Windows 7. After two weeks of using Windows 7, while my webcam worked just fine, one day I tried using it and got a message saying I have no webcam at all. I tried rebooting, and then got a error message for "usb unknown device..."

When I open my device manager I can see an the unknown device under the USB section and a yellow mark on it saying it's not functioning.

thanks in advance,

Answer:Satellite L500 - Webcam isn't recognized

I don?t know what is exactly wrong but maybe it?s just a driver issue and you have to reinstall it. So I would recommend removing the current driver and restart the notebook. Then download the newest on the Toshiba page directly:

Normally your webcam should work again after new driver installation.

In worst case the webcam is faulty and must be replaced? :(

Hello everyone, here is my problem: When I open configuration of my notebook, it shows that only 1.93GB of my RAM is available of total 4. How do I enable all 4?
I would really appreciate any help of yours.

Thank you in advance.

PS I updated my BIOS to the latest version.

Answer:Re: Satellite A665-12K - Only 1.93GB of 4GB RAM recognized

What operating system do you use? The preinstalled Windows 7 from Toshiba or another OS?

How much RAM is recognized in BIOS? 4GB or just 1.93GB?

Hi guys, been a while. I hope you can help!

I have a Satellite L350-210, it is about a year old and running Vista HP.

Out of the blue, the touchpad stopped responding. I have tried enabling/disabling it using the FN + F9 key, updated the drivers, nothing. So then I uninstalled the drivers altogether, and reinstalled them using the ones listed on the official synaptics site, and the one on the toshiba site, nothing. Uninstalled again, and let the laptop find the drivers. Nada.

I went to the device list and the Synaptics device isn't even listed under mouse and pointers where it usually is. The only evidence it even exists is it still seems that it is listed as a startup program and when going to the mouse menu in the control panel, there is a seperate tab with the synaptics logo on it, although nothing in the tab is clickable. Everything is grayed out no mention of touchpad at all.

Does anyone have a clue? I would be most grateful for any help!

Answer:Satellite L350-210 touchpad not recognized

You could try, in device manager, right-click on 'Mice and other pointing devices', choose 'uninstall'. Then re-boot. Windows should discover the touchpad again. I was asked to look at an Acer Aspire which had the same problem. I think I would lift up the keyboard, see if it's possible to find the plug from the touchpad to the motherboard. Unplug it. Re-boot windows. Shut down. Plug it back in, re-boot Laptop and if all is well it should force windows to find it again and install the drivers.

Hi Guys,

Yesterday, my mother-in-law was using her computer, and playing some game. The computer froze and I had to force a shutdown. Upon reboot, the computer continued giving the following message:
PXE-E61: Media check failure, check cable (Or something similar)

I removed the HDD, and replaced, it, with no avail. I checked the BIOS, and the HDD isn't even registering in there, so not sure what the hell has happened.

Anybody have any ideas on this? I'm looking at a new HDD otherwise.

Answer:Re: Satellite L500 - HDD not recognized in BIOS

If the HDD is not recognized in BIOS anymore I think it?s defective and you need a new one. This would be the reason why you get a PXE boot message at start up.

Is your notebook still under warranty? Then you can get a new HDD for free from an authorized service provider.
Otherwise you have to buy it yourself but it?s not expensive. You can use every 2.5? HDD with SATA interface.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 32bit. The problem is that the webcam will now work with any software I install, the same message appears saying ?webcam could not initialise".
I have tried installing the newest drivers found on this site and had no luck in getting it to work.

In the device manager under imaging devices it is there and apparently working properly. I have a Satellite L300 with a internal webcam.

Answer:Webcam is not recognized on Satellite L300

Have you also updated the BIOS? If not, do this!!

By the way: Does it work on preinstalled OS from Toshiba? Did you check this?

My Satellite L300 don't recognize my LAN adapter, Wifi adapter is listed on the hardware management but no LAN card.

I checked in the BIOS it is activated.

Answer:LAN adapter is not recognized on Satellite L300

Hi buddy

If you need some help and if you want that other people understand this issue you must edit your posting. Only important thing you wrote is that you have Satellite L300. Nothing else.

I see you post it in Vista category so I presume Vista is preinstalled. That?s all.

What you have done in the past ? no single word about it?
Do you use original Toshiba preinstalled Vista or own installation ? no info.

Please be serious, offer all relevant info for better understanding and I hope we can continue to discuss later.

My windows 7 is no longer recognised by my laptop and the key at the bottom of my laptop has been rubbed away.

Is there any way to resolve this or am I having to pay for a new key?

Answer:Windows 7 is not recognized on my Satellite laptop

Most of Toshiba notebooks are delivered with preinstalled operating system, with so called recovery image. This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tolls and utilities and some additional software. This OS version is activated and must not be activated at all.

Product key from the sticker belongs to this recovery image and cannot be used for any other OS activation.
I don?t know which version do you use but if you use version installed with original Microsoft installation disc this product key is useless.

If you have created recovery disc use this disc and install original and already activated Win7 version. If you want to keep preinstalled OS you must buy valid OS licence.

My Satellite A30 2.5G Cel. 1gb mem recognizes an 80GB HDD as a 40GB.
The HDD that I am trying to us is a Samsung MP0804H.

Anyone know how to set the LBA for this notebook?

Answer:Satellite A30: 80GB HDD is recognized as 40GB

I presume that you will upgrade the HDD because A30 is originally delivered with 40GB HDD. I don?t know if problem is BIOS that do not recognize new HDD properly but you can try to make complete format with partition magic tool and install OS using recovery media.

If you use expert mode installation you will see which HDD capacity will be recognized by ghost image and try to create two partitions.

It is also possible to check how the HDD will be recognized as external one.

My matrix revolutions cam could not be recognized when inserted in the pcmcia slot of my Satellite M40 149. The first time it was an unknown for me PCMCIA MTD-0002 card and when I updated the driver it is totally ignored.

I upgraded the Bios to v 1.20 and I wonder if I can do more for the driver of the PCMCIA slot, it is a Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Answer:Matrix Revolution Cam not recognized on my Satellite M40

Hallo Dimitris

If you want to use some ?special? hardware parts like Matrix Revolution Cam pick up at first some information about compatibility and eventual problems that can occur. It is always recommended to visit manufacturers support page.

Anyway I have found info that this card can not be recognized by notebook. Just if the pin 59 is detached in the notebook it should works.

I got a new 2 GB SD Card Traveler High Speed. When I insert it into the SD-Card Slot of my Satellite Pro 6100, I see in the Explorer List, the new Drive, but when I click on it, it says, "please insert card".

The card is working fine in my Pocket PC.

What can I do? What is the card-size-limit for the inbuild SD-Card-Drive?

Any help appreciated!

Answer:2GB SD-Card not recognized at Satellite Pro 6100

At the time when Satellite Pro was offered there was no 2GB SD card and card reader was tested with available cards only. If you will be lucky 1 GB card can be readable.

I believe you that card works fine in other device. There is definitely no problem with the card itself but old hardware or even driver for the card reader.

Maybe in next days someone will report which card can be used with SP 6100.

Hi all!

The BIOS can't recognize my new 500Gb SATA HDD. When I connect it to the notebook, BIOS shows "No device" in Hard Disk options. Tried to use jumpers to change HDD interface to SATA-1, but no effect.
How can I force the BIOS to recognize it?

BTW: my old 250Gb HDD works fine

Have you tried the HDD in another computer?

Maybe your new HDD isn?t working properly or faulty so use another rnotebook to test it or ask for a replacement HDD.
