Satellite M50 - No picture and beep sounds at start up

Question: Satellite M50 - No picture and beep sounds at start up

Hi,

Recently my PSM50C-MX500E Satellite notebook has been giving me some issues, it froze on me and I didnt think much of it because it has frozen before. I figured it was heat related and since I was using multiple apps. I left the laptop over night to cool down but in the morning I went to turn it on and there is no picture now, the laptop it self doesnt sound like it is broken, I get some beeps upon pressing the power button, 1 beep, 3 beeps, 4 beeps, 3 beeps.

I am not sure what that could mean and I havent had much luck searching Google. I have my original RAM (upgraded to 4GB) still and have tried swaping the RAM but that makes no difference.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite M50 - No picture and beep sounds at start up

Hi

So if I understand you right, the same error occurs with the original RAM module in slot 1?

Well, normally a beep code on start up means that there is something wrong with the hardware in your notebook. It could be the processor, graphic card, ROM module or something else.

I think the best way is you contact an authorized service provider for help. They can test the notebook and tell what is wrong with it. :)

Hi,
I have the "Dell Inspiron 15 i15547-5033sLV Signature Edition Laptop". It was running fine and then suddenly stopped running. The display went off. I couldn't get it to turn back on. After a while, it started making continuous beeping sounds. I recorded some of that. It seems like it was beeping 8 times in a set and keep beeping for a good minute or so. After that, I tried the flea battery solution mentioned online and restarted it. This time also it did not start up and made 8 beeping sounds once and then stopped. Only the display light 1 which indicates the charging display light is solid white.
Any ideas on what the problem may be, how I can fix it and how much it may cost? Appreciate your time.
Thanks and Regards,
AD

Answer:Laptop doesn't start and there are 8 beep sounds

is your computer showing any sign of life? you should try taking the battery out of its compartment and reseating it. was it ever dropped?

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A80-121 and it will not run. Yesterday worked all fine but now it do not start.
When I press the on button the button has as normal a blue colour, then the screen stays black, no picture at all, then the fan stops. Then I got a beep every 15 sec.

Can anybody help me what is wrong?

Thank you very much for your helps

Answer:Satellite A80-121 does not start and do a beep after every 15 sec

Hi!

It sounds like a hardware malfunction...
If you have two RAM modules installed try it with only one. Check this!

I?m not a notebook technician but the problem is maybe related by the mainboard, RAM or CPU but this is my personal opinion.

Hi,

My friend has spilled some tea on her laptop, after letting it dry at first it worked but now on start up it just beeps: 3 long, 2 short, 3 long and 2 short.

I can't find the beep codes documented anywhere, but if anyone can tell me what that code is I can at least decide whether it's worth trying to salvage it or clean up the mainboard with isopropyl alcohol!

I've tested the memory on another laptop and it's fine but I can't really test the CPU or anything else.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite C650D-10K Does not start, what does this beep code mean?

Hi

The beep code appears mostly if the POST cannot be passed correctly.
If problem is detected before the BIOS initialize the video card and the code cannot be displayed on the screen the BIOS will play several beeps.

Every BIOS supports own beep codes meanings.
For example the Toshiba BIOS beep code is not the same like a Phoenix BIOS beep code.

As far as I know the Satellite C650 supports an Phoenix BIOS.
But the BIOS is modified by notebook manufacturer therefore it could be possible that the beep code are different.
However, you could try to search in the internet for a code description.
I found this site:
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm

But generally such malfunction cannot be solved easily.
I would recommend contacting a technician with a huge notebook experience to scan the hardware for possible fault.

Hi all

Just picked up a Satellite Pro 6100 with a few problems.

It will turn on, the HDD light shows and I can hear drive activity. However, the screen remains blank and a single beep can be heard after about 20secs. The blank screen I understand, it is probably the power board issue that plagues the SP6xxx series. However, the single beep I don't understand.

I know 2 beeps or 3 beeps is memory incompatibility but does anyone know what the single beep denotes ?

Answer:Satellite Pro 6100 - Single beep code on start

Hi buddy,

To be honest it?s not easy to say what is causing the problem because it could be everything and Satellite Pro 6100 is pretty old notebook.

Have you installed two RAM modules? If yes remove one module. Try always one module only at the same time and test it in RAM slot A and B. Maybe one module is defective or one slot.

If not it seems to be a problem with mainboard or CPU itself. If you can exchange these things, try it yourself because a repair would be too expensive for this oldie I think.
Second hand spare parts you can get on eBay? It?s worth a try! ;)

Hello,

This is Varun from India. Could anyone please help me fix a problem which has been haunting me from the last two days. This problem is currently occuring in my satellilte Pro A200. Actually the problem is that there is a continuous beep sound from an internal speaker during start-up that is when the name TOSHIBA appers at the time of starting and moreover it freezes there right on that screen. But , I somehow kept using my system by pressing F5 or F9 and then letting it start manually in NORMAL MODE.

But, i can't keep doing this all the time. And moreover, this beep sound blows continuously only while starting the system and it goes on hanged up in the same screen until i press either F5 or F9. I kept restoring my system but to no use. Could any one please help me out in this.

Sincerely waiting for the reply.....

Answer:Satellite Pro A200: A continuous beep sound during start up and freezing

Hello

To be honest it is very strange issue. Is some external device connected to your notebook?
Have you tried to update BIOS to latest version?

Sorry but I believe in such case there is no much you can do. Maybe BIOS update, clean OS installation. That?s all.
Maybe you should contact nearest service and ask what it can be.

Hi,
I have a 5year old satellite 3000-514 notebook and now it starts only when it wants.
Most of the time, the screen stays black and the notebook emits four sounds, four beeps.
I can try and try again nothing happens, until it starts????

It is very annoying, does anybody have experienced that same pb ?
Does anyone know how to solve that problem ?

thanks for your help

regards,
Marc

Answer:Satellite 3000-514 often doesn't start - beep code appears

It sounds like the notebook cannot pass the POST (power on self test) successfully. The notebook beeps because there is a hardware error and some device did not pass the test.
You can try disconnecting all external devices and then try to start the notebook.
But I don?t see many chances that this will help to solve the problem?

Mostly in such cases the external help is needed. The technician with much more experience as a common user like me and you should check the notebook. I hope there is no motherboard malfunction because this could be a little bit expensive :(

Hi,
My laptop here is a Dell Inspiron 15, 3000 series.
The laptop itself works perfectly fine, I am able to get into windows (which I installed myself, it originally came with Ubuntu).
Occasionally though, it will do a BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE (repeats).
This happens on boot and sometimes when I am using it. Sometimes it turns off suddenly when I am shifting the computer around. It's extremely loud.

What is causing this? The sound seems to be coming from around the area the Memory banks are under the laptop, but nothing seems to suggest that anything is wrong.
I took a suggestion and used FN+Power to do Hardware Diagnostics which said nothing is wrong.

What else can I try?

Thanks!

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

Hi,
I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats and reply us with the beep count.

If you still receive 3 Beeps on the system then it indicates System board failure.. You will have to replace it on the laptop.
Please let me know the findings.

Answer:regarding beep sounds

that's usually a little passby the audio test where nothing has gone bad with hardware
on a system. when you start getting more than one beep, that's a time to worry. that
modem not being detected by windows has nothing to do with the bios post test beep
where all drive and memory tests are successful. you may have to reinstall the drivers
for the modem for xp to readily load them correctly.

Before removing any software or drivers for the modem, try a trip into device manager
to see if that has a yellow mark on it. even if it doesn't, you may have to refresh the
drivers by right clicking on the listing there and choosing the update driver option. You
can windows perform an automatic search to see if that works. or go back and try the
manual search to the cd if there is one to have xp install those again.

Remember the beep is from the onboard speaker not your onboard sound or installed
card to indicate tests passed. more than one indicates a hardware fault.

Appreciate some assistance.

Found an old mainboard (PB 430), and while testing it, a long beep, a second long beep, and three short beeps are produced.

The BIOS is an older Phoenix Version 1.01.21. Although connected to a monitor, with memory in the SiMM sockets, and a 486-DX2 66Mhz CPU, there is no boot on the screen. (Video chip is on the mainboard: Cirrus Logic 5424). Tried all sorts of memory combinations, with, and without parity, but nothing worked.

From what I understand of these older Phoenix beep codes, this could be a 1-1-3, which means a CMOS write/read test failure.

Is it possible for a bad battery to be the culprit in this situation?

Answer:Mainboard Beep Sounds

Hi FZWG,
The only experience I have had when this happens is the motherboard is bad. Without the proper equipment to test it it was replaced.

Sometimes My Dell n series laptop was making three beeps while startup & not used to switch on.
After shaking, tilting laptop for sometimes it used to switch on normally without any beeps.
I thought some loose connection & given for service, They told chipset problem was there, it has to replace otherwise will not switch on.
I told them that it used to switch on after shaking, tilting. but they told it might happened before. Now it won't start untill repairing with new chipset & they cannt give back also with old condition & taken Rs3500.
My questions are,
1. How it used to works after tilting & shaking
2. Why they couldnot give back with old condition after they removed to trace the problem
3. What is the price for this repair?

I am trying to build a new system using my athlon mp-1200 or duron-1200 both are basically new and unused. I have tryed both on 3 boards (actually 6 all to geather) which I can not get to post or make any sound or send a signal to the monitor. These boards are uninstalled. I am using a power supply with Output: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] from what I have read this is more than enough. The heatsink fan comes on, starts to pol the hardware-keyboard flashes then nothing. I have tryed 1 stick of memory (Kingston DDR 2700) changed slots and with no memory still nothing, no sound. The Athlon MP gets warm as do the chipsets. For wiring I have only a speaker (tryed 3 dif) and an on/off switch. I have built many other AMD systems, however none with an Athlon MP processor. The motherboard I bought to go with the Athlon mp-1200 is a Biostar M7VIZ which states "support for Paliminos" I can not believe none of these boards will post but they do not. Any ideas?

Hi, i have received my new Yoga 2 13 a few days ago, after i used it 2 times it began making beep sounds every 2-3 minutes, without any reason I could see. There is no low battery, nor am i using too many keys at once (happens when im not typing, for example in tablet mode, too). It happens when the Yoga is plugged in, too.I dont think it can be overheating, since it happens when the only programm i use is Acrobat Reader for example. Would welcome help or answers, since those sounds are very annoying and i'd really like to know why they happen. Thanks

This might sound crazy but, b4 we say it is a fried MB, move your hand over all the keys on the keyboard (when you hear the beep). If it stops, there is a stuck keyboard key. If that is the case, the problem may come back. If it is frequent, get the keyboard replace. Else, I would assume a fried MB and send it back.

I just bought USB number keypad to use with a laptop or notebook computer. Yesterday, I connected it to a Gateway laptop (Win XP) that I occasionally use at a client's office. It was immediately recognized; I used it and was pleased with the experience.

I later tried using with an older Compaq Presario 700 laptop. Prior to connecting it, I had turned on the ToggleKeys setting that makes the computer beep when pressing the Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, or Num Lock keys. It's an audible signal that's helpful in knowing whether the Lock key is being turned On or Off; for example, it you hit the Caps Lock key to turn it on, you hear a high pitched beep; turning it off yields a low pitched beep.

On the Compaq Presario (Win XP), I had to disable the Use ToggleKeys setting; otherwise, hitting any key on the keyboard caused a beep. Now that I think about the Gateway, I believe ToggleKeys setting was disabled on it; I had not enabled it because the computer does not belong to me. But, the point is, I would think the ToggleKeys setting could be enabled and, of course, hitting number keys on the keypad would not cause beeps.

As I test, I connected the keypad to my desktop PC (Win XP). With it, I CAN have ToggleKeys enabled while using the keypad and NOT get beeps when hitting the number keys on the keypad. Surely, this is how it should work.

I suspect that nothing can be done to correct this with the Compaq Presario, but thought I'd post the exp... Read more

Hi! I have been using dell inspiron for almost 2 years. Everything was working fine all through till now. Two days back I turned it on as usual but it didn't start. The power button lights up , I hear the fan , the dvd drive works , but the screen doesn't start and after some time I get 3 beep sounds consecutively with gaps in between. I left it aside and turned it on again after 24 hrs and it started normally and worked as usual. Then I turned it off and switched it on again after 1 hour but it didn't start and again I get the beep sounds. It remains so till now. What should I do ? ?

Answer:Dell inspiron 3 beep sounds

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery, and hold the power button for 30 seconds.  Remove and reinstall the memory module(s).
Try powering up - if that clears it, you're set.  If not, budget a few hundred dollars for a replacement mainboard -- or depending on the model, for a new system (sub-$700 systems aren't really worth a major repair like a mainboard once they're out of warranty, as the cost will exceed 50% of that of a new system).

Answer:wat cud b the problem ??? three beep sounds inside CPU

Hi, since you had given me detailed specs of your system, I could look this up in your motherboard's manual. This indicates a problem with your memory.

http://download.intel.com/support/mo...9801001_en.pdf (page 57)

You might want to take out the memory modules and re-insert them. The issue could just be that they became loose after the maintenance. In the worst case, your memory is corrupted, and you need to get new memory.

Hope this helps!

Hello. Try this. It's for turning off system beeps. I think it will turn off the POST beeps.
1. Open the Device Manager. 2. In the View menu at the top, click “Show hidden devices”.3. Scroll down to “Non-Plug and Play Drivers” and  expand (click the + sign).4. Double click “Beep”. 5. Click the “Driver Tab” and change “Startup Type” to “Disabled”.6. Restart.

Not the expected POST beep or anything like that.
When I plug in/unplug the power adapter, there is a beeping from the computer.
Now, if I plug in headphones and do this, it beeps through the headphones.
Muting the sound also mutes the beep.
There is no "PC Speaker" setting for me to mute.
There isn't the Non-PnP devices in the Device Manager to disable the "Beep" device.
I've gone through all of my Window's sounds. No change.
I've had a few Gateway support chats and they told me to either mute the aforementioned PC Speaker or to disable the speaker in the BIOS.
Checked the BIOS and there's no option.
Anyone have this problem? Anyone know what I can do to solve this?

Hello all,My new VN7-591G-787T is randomly making a soft beep sound, coming from the right side (middle or lower part). It doesn't seem to be the typical bios beep (as heard when we plug in or out the power cord.It is much softer and irregular, but pretty annoying.I am not able to associate it to any specific activity or procedure and the computer is just being used for surfing the web and office work.If someone is experiencing the same issue or has any idea, I would welcome some feedback. Thanks!

hello all,My problem consist in desactivation of beep sounds when i plug my computer Lenovo X200s in docking station after sleep mode. description of problem :-My computer is plugged in docking station,-I activate the sleep mode,-I undock my computer,-I dock my computer and push the start button. At this time, computer beep very strongly and the only one solution is to undock the computer.I just have this problem with the sleep mode.If i do the same with a lenovo T400, i don't have the problem. Anyone have an idea to stop this beep (i'm sure that is a security but we prefer no sound rather than this one!! ;-)For your information, I already check windows power settings and lenovo power setting but I dind't find anything!!Best regards;-)

Answer:Issue X200s and ultrabase : sounds beep in sleeping mode

the option to enable/disable power-status-change beeps is in the BIOS of the X200... somewhere. press the Thinkvantage button at startup when the screen says it is suitable to do so, and then follow the on-screen instructions to access the BIOS. if you have configured a BIOS password, you may need to enter it. i am currently insufficiently motivated to shut down my X200 to look for the options menu location. if you need help, please ask and then i'll look for it.

I just got a beautiful new laptop for Christmas (HP Pavilion g7 1260ca). Every time I start it up, it starts in "Windows Boot Manager" and makes me select Windows 7 as my operating system. That's annoying in it's self (why won't it just start on it's own! It's not like I'm running another operation system as well!) but what's even worse, as the text is appearing on the screen, a loud obnoxious beep sounds with each word that appears!
I checked to make sure no keys are stuck, so it's not that. Once I choose Windows 7, I'm able to sign in with no problem.
How can I turn off the beep? And how can I make Windows 7 start automatically?

Answer:Starts in Windows Boot Manager and LOUD continuous beep sounds!

Hello ChelseyWol Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Brand new and under warranty! Take it right back! Don't attempt to do any repairs yourself! That would likely void the warranty the unit comes with.

The default preinstalled copy of Windows 7 should at least upto the point where you would select the user account during the initial setup. Refer to the user guide as well to make you followed the procedure correctly there too.

The beeping part however does sound a bit odd and the purchaser who gave you the laptop may want to bring it back in to the store or dealer where it was bought for examination or replacement if a problem is found.

Hi Raj,
4 beeps is the indication of memory failure. Please reseat the memory & check. If the issue persists, place one memory at a time and check. Try both the memory modules in both the slots. This will help us to isolate which memory slot or memory is causing the issue.

I understand that this means there is a system board error.  I have a very good reason to believe that the BIOS had an issue (when I checked it before this happened, it had 75 boot options listed and said the volitale memory was almost full). Question: can I somehow force the BIOS to reset itself?  Is there a pin short I can use for this? Of course I am 2 weeks out of warranty :/  I assume if I sent it in they would just charge for a boarsd swap... likely $500-$600 dollars. Thanks for any help!

Answer:X230 1 beep, 3 beep, 3 beep, 1 beep, no screen: can I reset the BIOS?

1-3-3-1 means no memory. If you have 2 DIMMs, try with just one, then just the other. When you try with just one DIMM, it needs to go into slot-0. When you have the machine sitting lid-down and the battery compartment away from you, slot-0 is the one on the right.

Hello,

Windows XP, Service Pac 3

I just had a "search engine redirect issue" fixed by "Gringo." One thing that is different now is at windows start-up, this laptop makes a BEEP TIC (Higher in frequency than the BEEP) vs the BEEP BEEP sounds I've had for ever. The computer start-up sequence is very slow as it takes minutes before the computer is ready to be used.

During the virus removal, a few times the reboot start-up sounds were BEEP - TIC - BEEP (again the TIC was higher a higher tone and faster than the BEEPs). What do the different sounds mean?

I'll start another thread requesting help to fix my computer problems.

Hi, I have been using the Y480 for almost 2 years. However, when I boot up this morning, it just beep beep beep continously. and the screen just have a cursor blinking. But after I reboot again and press F2 to enter bios, and then quit bios settings, the notebook can be boot up successfully. I have backup everything I need What should I do to fix the error? Is my harddisk gonna be failed? I have lost all the purchase receipts but I have registered 2 years ago. Thanks!Peter

Answer:Y480 continous beep beep beep during startup

Beeps are error messages from the Motherboard. Either the MOBO is failing or you have a problem with your RAM, I dont think it is related to your HDD, but you should create a backup. Also, if you don't have, please create recovery disks immediately. You may want to do more research depending on the BIOS manufacturer and the beep codes. You can google these terms and you should find information on the procedure to validate this. You can also try to re-seat the RAM, maybe it got a bit unsettled, if you moved the laptop. All in all, if you took the externded warranty and you are still under it, you may want to send the laptop to Lenovo for repairs.

Hello,

Since I bought Satellite M60-182 I have a problem with a single long beep (1-2 sec) that I hear from time to time. If I am watching divX movie from HDD no beeps, but if I swith to some program or game I hear this annoying soung from time to time - some times often (every 2-3 mins) and some time in interval of 10-15 min -
never regular.

This I hear nevertheless I turn sound on/off.
Is there a possibility that this is HDD or should I pay attention to something else?

Thank You in advance!

Answer:Random beep (1-2 sec) on Satellite M60-182

Hi

Strange sound. I have read somewhere about a similar issue and the user have suggested that this sound comes from the HDD.
We will not hope but maybe you will get a HDD head crash in the future.
I would recommend making everyday a backup of your important files.

You can also try to test the new HDD and check the strange sound appears.

I started up my Satellite M60 this morning and it went beep (pause) beep beep beep and nothing came up on the screen. I had to press and hold the power switch to power off. After a while I tried again and this time it started up OK. But I would like to know what this code means, in case it is indicative of a problem that is likely to become more permanent in the near future.

Is there a list of Toshiba BIOS beep codes anywhere?

Answer:Satellite M60 beep codes

Don't know if there is a list of those beep codes around somewhere. Honestly, I have never looked for it and I could imagine that only Toshiba repair guys have them, not sure, though.

You're right, would clarify this with the strange beep messages and call or visit ASP. They can tell you what this means.
I'd say it could be something with mainboard or memory.

Hi, im hearing this annoying beep intermittently from my toshiba, ive had it for over 3 years and in the last 3 months or so this beep started sounding.

It sounds like a number being pressed on a telephone dial pad, its very loud and annoying and happens randomly.

Some days i dont hear it at all.
I've trawled through all the settings for modems and everything, system sounds.

Control panel and programs to no avail, and ive heard it when nothing is connected to the pc to rule out externel gadgets,

Also i've searched this problem a few times and there is no apparant answer, my supermulti drive cannot read cd's anymore but it can burn them, it says that every cd i put in is a blank cdr, it reads dvd's but cannot burn dvds and it wont read dvd ram anymore, any solutions apart from a new drive??

Answer:Annoying beep from Satellite P10-873

Sounds like some serious hardware issue.. did you spilled some liquids over it? Such an sound comes from an key which is pressed continously, this could also happen when some key is stuck due to some dirt in the keyboard or liquids which dried out and became now some kind of "super-key-glue" which lets the keys get stuck.

Did you notice that some keys are "hanging"?
Regarding your drive: did you already tried some firmware update? And whats surely more interesting: which burning programs or cd-drive related applications did you installed?

Hi,
while working on my Toshiba Satellite M70-159, from time to time I can hear a single beep (about 0,5 sec.) There are no announcements at the screen and the computer works normally. It has no meaning if it works on the adapter or batteries. It happens once or twice a day, usually after a few hours of work. I read it might be connected with the temperature of processor, but how can I check it? Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason of this beep and what should I do with it?
Best greetings,

anyways, i was wondering if i can stop my computer from beeping when i start it up, it is really annoying... and help will be appreciated.

Answer:start-up beep

I have seen some BIOS setups where you can shut off the beep. Can't remember where, but it was a brand system. The other option is to disconnect your internal speaker. Personally I would leave it alone. If something goes wrong, BIOS beeps might give you information about your system's problem.

Question: 8 Beep on start-up

Windows XP - recently installed a new CPU and PSU. Initally my video card TORNADO GE-FORCE 4 MX440 worked, but after one session, failed - all I get now is 8 beeps from the computer and a NO SIGNAL on the monitor. When I replace the video card with my old one, a HERCULES, everything boots up OK. Any ideas - is my TORNADO card damaged? I have never heard 8 beeps before.

'is my TORNADO card damaged?' - Most likely as the other card works.BIOS checks that everything is working and if its not - Beeeep. What BIOS do you have, you can then check the beep codes too see what 8 beeps mean.

Hello.

I have an issue with the BIOS POST check that annoys me. The issue is that when I restarting my computer or turn it on sometimes during POST (when a Toshiba logo appears) there is a beep sound signal. Mainly there is no signal but sometimes there is very noise.

So, the question is: Is it a problem in the hardware or is it a problem in the BIOS (by the way, I re-flashed BIOS several times - no result).

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro A - Beep signal during POST

Hi buddy,

That means you get only sometimes a beep code when you start the notebook or does it happen always?

Usually such beep codes mean that there is a hardware problem but I think only an authorized service provider can test this exactly.
What you can do is resetting the BIOS to default settings and if you have two RAM modules, test it with one module only.

Hi

Just tried to upgrade my RAM from the original 512MB to 2GB but now have blank black screen and beep code: single - triple - triple - single
I have downloaded and ran the BIOS Upgrade from the toshiba site - but no change. I've also tried installing the RAM 1GB at a time, but no difference.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A80 - After RAM upgrade only beep code

Hi

Do you use for upgrading the RAM one 2GB module or two 1GB modules?
What are the exact specifications of the RAM? You should check if they are compatible with the notebook.

I have checked the user manual of Satellite A80 and it can upgraded to 2GB RAM. Therefore you can use two 1GB modules with PC2100 DDR-RAM specification.
Check this!!!

Furthermore two identical modules should be installed to avoid compatibility issues.
I have good experience with Kingston modules.

Maybe there is a key stuck on the keyboard, which can happen if there was liquid ingress or foreign objects entering the keys.

You may need to send the notebook to a Toshiba Service Center for a keyboard replacement.

Answer:No post, no beep on Satellite P100-113?

As you probably know it?s not easy to say what could be wrong exactly.
But for me it looks like a CPU or motherboard problem.

In both case it?s advisable to contact a notebook technician for a notebook check.
In worst case the motherboard must be replaced and such affair is very costly.

Hi,
my Satellite A200-1CR(PSAE0) I did format with my vista cd, not recovery cd.
The reason was that toshiba had too many things -drivers,programmes- that my pc needed 3 min to open and 3 to close. After the clean installation is really fine, I've never seen it so fast, most drivers were recognised by vista so I installed only 1 or two. I don?t need anything else but I have one serious problem:

There is no beep in low battery so laptop closes suddenly bios setting and windows setting is ok. Does anybody know which driver I should install so this is fixed???

thank you in advance.....

Answer:Re: No beep when low battery on Satellite A200-1CR

Thats not really a problem. If you had installed the Toshiba Powersaver then this issue wouldn?t appear. So, please visit the Toshiba Drivers & Download site and download the latest available version of the powersaver.

The powersaver enhances your powersaving features and should enable your "beep".

Try assigning WAV files to the "Default Beep" and "System Notification" events in Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds

Windows may be defaulting to the PC Speaker for some sound events.

Also check the settings in antivira, perhaps you can change or assign a sound file to the virus alert event.

I have a Satellite 1900-S303 which has a broken screen. The hard drive and ram have been removed by the prvious owner. If I power on the laptop it gives 3 long beeps and does not display on an external monitor. My question is what is the meaning of the beeps, Will it not display because the ram is missing and what sort of ram do I need. There are 3 memory slots, one under the keyboard and two in the underside, all are missing ram chips. Basically is it worth buying a new screen for it, as they are very expensive?

Answer:Satellite 1900-303 beep codes

Hi

It is quite possible that the machine will beep if no RAM is available.
To help you with the dilemma of new parts - consider the following:
Sum up the price for new RAM modules and a new harddrive.
Contact an ASP and ask them for the price of the screen for this model (you got to be specific since there are several models of the 1900-series!).
How much is that? Compare it to current prices for the kind of machine you need (notebook/desktop/performance and so on). Then it should be simple to judge how to proceed.

Howdy,

A few days ago I was plugging a peripheral into my usb hub and a warning box popped up on my screen and before my computer shut down I was able to see that the message had something to do with power.

Since that moment when I would try to start my computer i would get one beep, some of the POST information would show up then it would just go into a continous beep and the screen would go blank. I did a little research online and a few places I found mention of a failed power supply. This made a little sense to me since the computer in question is a HP with a 250W power supply and I have added a dvd-rw and about a month ago installed a dual monitor video card.

Instead of just swapping out the psu I got a good deal on an Antec case with 350W psu so I carefully transferred everything over but still get the same beeping issue. I tried to reseat the memory and that didn't help either.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is it the mobo maybe?

HP model a335w
P4 2.5GHz
Asus P4G533 uATX mobo
1GB RAM
200 GB Seagate HD
Matrox dual head video card 16 MB

I am running windows vista 32-bitI was working on my PC late last night, and when i was done - i shut it down.  Never had a PC problem with it up to this point aside from the occasional hiccup it would get when trying to boot up (sometimes it'd randomly freeze on boot up)Well, now.....when i started it back up this morning - there was a huge problem. It cycles through the hardware information like normal, and gets to the dell screen that shows a loading bar, and 1/2 through - it emits a very loud, long, and non-stop beeping noise from the machine its self (think the bios beep, but repeating its self forever) and the PC won't boot.My PC does not have an A: drive, so i used my laptop to create a boot CDBut i can't get the PC to boot from CDI can't get it to enter boot options or setupI have no idea where to go next to continue finding out whats wrong with it.Any ideas?

Well I gave up trying to fix the MB. Instaed I just bought a new MB from Ebay, it cost me $72 but was worth it. I installed the MB easily and it starts right up normally with just 1 quick beep, BIOS opens and everything is working except that I had to order a new E-recovery disk from Acer to install Windows 7 again but it's worth the $19 to have the original software from Acer for that particular PC. I always tell people to hold onto the system disks because you always will need it in the future but most people that bring in there PC's always lose it, lol. Oh well, to those of you who answered thanks for the advice.

Five beeps is a realtime clock failure - if you're under warranty, call Dell and they will replace the mainboard under warranty.

I have replaced the motherboard, graphics card, ram, cpu and source in my computer, but when i start it, it makes no sound, the reset button won't work and the screen stays like in offline mode, there is no image. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the screen nor the cable since they work on another computer. I have also tried removing the ram and again, there was no sound. Also tried removing one by one the graphics card, hard disk, cd drive, and the cmos battery and still nothing. What else can I do?

Answer:There's no beep and no image when i start the pc

Does the PSU start up - fan noises etc. HDD led lit or LEDs on motherboard? CPU fan spinning?
Best guess is you do not have the 4 pin plug connected to the motherboard to power the CPU.
Make and model of motherboard?

came into work today to find our receptionists pc wont boot up. There is no beep when there used to be, and the monitor and keyboard are dead. Both work ok on another pc.There is a light on inside the pc, the fans are both spinning, and the harddrive feels as though it is spinning (but i am not 100%sure of that). After reading previous threads i have checked all the connections, swapped the ram and graphics cards with ones from a working pc but still no joy.She had not been inside the pc, so nothing could have been knocked by accident over the weekend.Any ideas would be appreciatedThanks

Answer:pc wont start - no beep

Could be one of the power supply voltages has failed. Try another PSU.

I have this computer running xp pro that is giving me a strange error. Back in the shop where the computer has been sitting for 8 monthes and running fine up until today,

On startup while still loading BIOS I get this alarm sound. It is a contiuous alarm. No error messages, the Bios just stops loading and stays in one place.

What is weird is I bring it into the office plug it in and it works fine.

I have tried multiple outlets back in the shop but still to no avail.

Does anybody know what the continous alarm sound might mean when starting up the Bios?

Hello guys

My buddy is bringing his computer over to my place tomorrow, but I thought I'd start "early" in trying to diagnose and hopefully fix it!

What he tells me is , when he powers it up, the computer will just continue to beep nonestop. NOTHING appears on the monitor. Actually the only thing the monitor does is the power light ON THE MONITOR initially turns green, then yellow/amber

What can I do to diagnose this? and what do you gentlemen think it might be??

Thank you

Paul

Acer Aspire 5315. Vista Home Basic. I know, this laptop is old but my daughter loves it. I need to get all her stuff off it. The deal is this: she has had to use two external fans for a couple of years, one behind and a cool fan on the bottom. When it got hot, it just stopped, which is what we all expect. Now, I can turn it on, get one beep, it boots up, continues one beep (those are short beeps). Everything boots up and I can click on what I want for awhile, still with the beeps, then it shuts down. I tried to see if I could find a list for this system but most of them are no help. What I think is happening is either the cmos battery is dead or the fan quit. I have a few batteries in my stuff and a few fans that may fit here, but I need to have some input before I take this one apart. Any ideas?

Hi guys whom I know!! Been awhile but then that is a good thing. No major problems until now.

Hi All!

I'm trying to resurrect an old Optiplex 5166. Last time I "checked" in on it was over a year ago at work, and it had worked fine. Since we had to move out of offices, I got 2 of these back home. I took two add'l Memory Chips from the other and placed them in the remaining slots (4 total). Didn't start. Just beeps. I have since tried, and retried almost every combination of the slots, with 1, 2, 3, etc, and even differing positions. Each time, no luck.

The beep code appears to be 1-3-1-1 (I had thought it was 1-3-2, but there is no such thing, ha).

Any ideas on why I can't seem to seat these correctly?

Thx for any advice.

Hi,

I downloaded the latest BIOS from the Toshiba Website and it all seemed to work correctly (using the traditional Method). The notebook automatically rebooted but the screen stays blank and there is a constant tone from the speaker.

No keys seem to have any effect but if I hold down the key which brings the updae BIOS screen up it is displayed and I can load new BIOS files.

Can anyone help with this or does anyone have the orginal BIOS for the 6000?

Model: PS600E-207PG-EN

Answer:Satellite Pro 6000 constant beep and does not POST

Hi

check in the bottom of the unit if You really have a SP6000 or if it is a 6050 or 6070 or something else.
Maybe there are differences in the BIOS.
Normally it shouldn't be possible to 'install' wrong BIOS but maybe there could be a 'glitch'...

I see on several sites that the graphic card is out. I would to change this graphic card. It is possible ? Where I can buy a new graphic card ? How I can disassemble the Toshiba P300 ?

Thank you for your help

Unfortunately it is worst thing that can happen with notebook. Generally speaking GPU cannot be replaced and when something like this happen whole mainboard must be replaced.

You can try to use Google and check if you can find something but it is not known to me that you can buy graphic card in some online store. Maybe on ebay and without warranty.

The whole thing is pretty complicated.

Hi Everyone,

Just recently has my laptop started malfuntioning.
Yesterday, after startup (or when you take it out of sleep mode) it started beeping -

Beeping is 10 short in a row, fast.

I run a stock standard Satellite A200, using Windows Vista.
I do not know what to do, and during the beeping (which lasts about 10 - 15 minutes) I cannot do anything - the CPU (i think) simply cannot handle any processes. The beeping comes from the right side of the laptop, and is feint, but definately a sign of a problem.

I believe it has something to do with the motherboard, but I don't know how to diagnose this problem, and after hours of searching I have not found anyone with a similar problem to mine.

I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum, as the boards are confusing and I cannot find a technical support one.

Please Help,
Victor11

Answer:Re: Satellite A200 - Beep Noise after Startup

Hi

As I understand your problem, it seems that you are not able to get into the BIOS and you are not able to boot the Window OS.
You cannot see the Toshiba Splash screen as well? Is it right?

Hmm? it seems that this beeping sound is related to a hardware malfunction?
So possibly the POST (power on self test) cannot be passed properly and therefore you get this alert beep sound?

What to say; in most cases it?s motherboard related but it?s hard to say what could be exactly wrong?

Maybe you could try this;
Remove battery and disconnect the AC adaptor for some hours?
Wait and after some time connect both parts again?
Then try to power up the unit again?

If this will not work, then I would recommend asking an ASP technician for a help?

Hi guys. I have this problem.

When I power on my laptop,as soon as it gets at the Toshiba Logo screen it freezes and a repeating short beep lasting forever starts. I found out that a key was stuck, So I tried to press some of the keys in case they return to normal. After some tries I managed to find out the the only way to continue boot and and load windows, is to keep f1+f2+f3 pressed together all the time. When I managed to log into windows I opened notepad and released the keys so, i can see which one is stuck. Immediately a 44444 started typing.... Since the 4 key seemed all right, I thought it would be a keyboard problem, so I tried disconnecting it. But the same thing happens, with the keyboard ribbon completely disconnected from the motherboard. It freezes at the Toshiba logo and beeps.

After some searching all over the net and this forum, I found that many people experience this problem with different laptops, but I didn't see any other solution than replacing the motherboard, I also found one topic claiming that it was the media buttons fault, but I tried disconnecting them as soon as I pressed the power button, unfortunately without any different result.

So this forum is my last hope, has anyone encoutered something like this and fixed it? Thank you.

Answer:Satellite M40x - Repeating beep during post

Hi buddy,

New and original Toshiba spare parts you can get from an authorized service provider. They sell all original Toshiba spare parts so I don?t think it?s a problem to get this spare part from the guys.

Here is a list where you can search for nearest ASP:

hey guys,

Got an A200 m01 (i think) from around 2008, which just last night decided to not boot. It makes it past the BIOS screen, but then when about to boot Windows the screen turns off and it makes a continuous (and infinite) beeping (sort of pulsating). Now, I cant find anything on Insyde BIOS, but the common continuous beeping sound is a RAM error. I was hoping this would be the case (although I realise POSTing is completed before the BIOS splash screen appears and thus I am at a loss as to what it ACATUALLY is), but upon removing the one RAM module the system doesnt even give me a BIOS beep code! What the hell!

And no amount of googling has gotten me any closer to solving this. I'm a poor student so I cant afford to take it to a computer repairer for them to charge me $80 to say its dead, so if anyone has any information I will be very grateful!

Thanks

Taylor

Answer:Satellite A200 - Unknown beep code

Hi Taylor,

I think the problem is that only an authorized service provider knows the exact beep codes and their reasons so you can?t find much in the Internet.

Of course such a problem is a little bit annoying but you?re right, theoretically it could be a problem of RAM. As I understand you correctly just one RAM module is installed in your computer, right?
Have you already tested the module in another RAM slot? Theoretically the memory slot could be also faulty.

Furthermore you can test the RAM module itself using a special test software like Memtest86. It?s freeware tools that you can find with Google. Just create a bootable disk and boot from it. The test will start but it can take up to 1 hour or more until it?s finished.

Maybe Memtest86 will find something but let?s wait what happens so some feedback would be great. :)

I have a Satellite Pro A200. All was fine until early this morning when a constant beep started. The laptop beeps once every 30 seconds. Everything seems to be working fine. It restarted without difficulty and I am using it to write this message. The only problem is the constant beep. Any suggestions as to the problem and what to do would be very helpful. Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro A200 Constant beep every 30 seconds

I recommend you to contact nearest service provider. Such behavior is definitely not normal and it should not happen.

Have you done something with your notebook last days? Maybe some hardware upgrade?
