Unknown Devices on Satellite M70-340

Question: Unknown Devices on Satellite M70-340

Hey,
My problem started when I updated my Toshiba Satellite Model : M70-340 with Windows Xp Professional. Most of the drivers were detected by windows, except those :
1) Mass Storage Controller
2) Network Controller
3) PCI Modem

I was wondering how will I be able to allow windows to read them.

Thanks for the support.

Preferred Solution: Unknown Devices on Satellite M70-340

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Unknown Devices on Satellite M70-340

I wonder if you have read the ?installation instruction? before driver installation.
There you will find a guide line how to install the Toshiba drivers and what order is necessary.

I think if you will follow this guide lines you will solve you little, not very serious problem :)

Good luck my friend ;)

I would really appreciate some help on this one.

I am trying to get Win XP running on my Toshiba L650-1PK laptop.

I have two unknown PCI Devices and I am unsure to which driver they refer to. Searches on pcidatabase.com appears to offer litte help as well. Therefore I am wondering if there might be anyone that would be able to point me in the right direction.

The Device ID's are as follows.

PCI Device
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_AA68&SUBSYS_FD121179&REV_00\4&2A7 D5098&0&0108

PCI Device
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B56&SUBSYS_FF1E1179&REV_05\3&115 83659&0&D8

I have an idea that they might relate to my sound driver but remain unsure.
If so which manufacturer, ATI or Conexant.

However when I try and run update driver to these devices it tells me that a driver cannot be found on both the sound drivers available.

With thanks

Dave

Answer:Satellite Pro L650-1PK: 2 Unknown PCI Devices

VEN_1002 is ATI/AMD so that may be the Graphics Card

VEN_8086 is Intel, so you may need to install the Intel Chipset Utility.

Make sure you have XP Service Pack 3 installed, so you have support for HD Audio devices.

Hi,
I have recently got a notebook (as in the title) and separate from that Windows7 Pro (not installed). I have installed the software and some drivers downloaded from the Toshiba support site. Majority of the devices are working, but I still have some problems:
* webcam not recognized
* Ethernet adapter not recognized
* at least one unknown device left

Windows7 states in system information:
Nem érhet? el ACPI\TOS1900\2&DABA3FF&1 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Nem érhet? el ACPI\TOS6205\5&3956218&0 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Unknown Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&3A0BAA18&0&6 43
(nem érhet? el = not accessible)

Please inform me:
* what are these devices
* which driver or supporting package is necessary for them.

Many thanks in advance,
Vince

Answer:Satellite Pro C660-144 has unknown devices

As I can see what you are missing is webcam driver, LAN driver and, I think, Bluetooth.

Which OS version do you use (32 or 64bit)?

Hi!

I have got problems installing WXP SP2 on my Satellite A200-1M7.
Vista was supplied with this notebook, but I decided to go back to the roots.
Downloaded all drivers available for this model and installed them.

Now I have 4 unknown devices in hardware monitor.
I guess I know what it is because I still can't see some things working:
1. Audio card: Made BIOS update, installed kb888111 and kb835221, and sound driver. No change.
2. Bluetooth monitor: Installed the driver but also no change.
3. Wi-Fi: The same, I can see the Atheros Wi-Fi manager window but it doesn't work (I am sure about it because I have another laptop nearby, and it sees my Wi-Fi router).

Anybody has these problems and a way to solve it?

Answer:WXP on Satellite A200-1M7 - Now I have 4 unknown devices

Very simple procedure? ;)

The Satellite A200-1M7 seems to belong to the PSAE3E series and you should chooser this series to download all Toshiba drivers.

Before you will install the XP try to update the BIOS to the XP version (at this time v.5.30-win)
Then check the Installation Instructions txt file and install ALL Toshiba drivers and tool using the order mentioned in this document.

Please note that the Windows XP should be updated to the latest state and many important patches must be installed directly from the Microsoft website.
So I would recommend checking the MS update site and to install every fix.

By the way;
Bluetooth monitor is not the driver? install the BT driver from this Toshiba BT portal:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/

All Wlan driver can b found here:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

Sound driver can be found also here:

Best regards and happy new year

Hi All

I havve an L350-203. The problem is it went astray, and somebody wiped the hard drive.

I have the OEM XP Pro disk (i retrofitted it over Vista for networking) but the Toshiba systems disk is missing with all the motherboard drivers on it. Result - a long list of "unrecognised devices".

On the Toshiba tech support, none of the models correposnd - they are all like L350-2701 or 2021 or similar. Nothing for 203

Can anyone help as to what model it is?

A million blessins for any help - I reall miss this machine (using a other unit instead - a pale imitation!)

The Satellite L350-203 belongs to the PSLD8E series and the drivers for this series can be found on the Toshiba European driver page.

Hi,

i just installed Windows XP on a Satellite U500-115 (PSU5EE) and can't get rid of several unknown devices in the device manager.

Before installing the operating system i switched the AHCI-Settings in BIOS to Compatibility-Mode(IDE), so i don't need to inject SATA-Driver during the installation.

These are the unknown devices:

ACPI\PNP0C32\1 (Location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controlle - 2919)

ACPI\PNP0C32\2 (Location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controlle - 2919)

ACPI\PNP0C32\3 (Location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controlle - 2919)

ACPI\PNP0C32\4 (Location: Intel ICH9M LPC Interface Controlle - 2919)

ACPI\TOS6205\2&DABA3FF&0 (Location: Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System)

Of course i installed chipset driver and graphics driver from toshiba download page, but the unknown devices are still there! Can you please tell me what kind of drivers i need to install the ACPI-Devices and get rid of these unknown devices?

Thanks in advance,
Hans

Answer:Satellite U500-115 - Unknown Devices after Win XP Installation

Hi

In my opinion the unknown devices belongs to the SATA interface controller and these appears as unknown device because you have installed the XP in compatible mode.

Try to install the Intel Storage Manager driver.

The ACPI\TOS6205 device might be a Bluetooth device.
You need to install the Bluetooth stack in order to get rid of unknown device.

I downloaded Toshiba U200 drivers for Windows XP from this site, install Windows, install all drivers.
Well.
But i have 2 unrecognized devices in device manager.
1. NIC 1394. Device Code V1394\NIC1394\92423A3900
2. PCI Device. Device Code PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_803C&SUSBSYS_00011179&REV_00\4&6B 16D5B&0&5BF0
Modem & FireWire are not working.

What can I do?

Answer:Satellite U200-124 - Unknown devices with Windows XP SP2

Hello

I can not explain why those two devices are listed as ?unrecognized? but be sure you have installed chipset driver at first, immediately after finishing OS installation. Please check Toshiba download page and there you can find ?Installations instructions? document. Follow the installations order and everything should be ok.

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite U300-14Q (Model PSU30E). I installed XP, but there are 2 unknown devices:

- Controladora de memoria PCI - In English: PCI Memory Controller (I suppose...)
- Dispositivo desconocido - In English: Unknown device.

I have installed all the drivers from Toshiba and Microsoft. What are the missing driver?

Greetings from Spain.

Answer:Satellite U300 - Unknown devices after WXP installation

Hello

- PCI Memory Controller ? Missing Robson module ? this is not offered for WXP and this will always be listed in device manager. It should not disturb you at all.
- Unknown device ? I am afraid you have forget something. I do not know what but it can be card reader controller or maybe password utility.

Please be sure you have installed all listed stuff following ?Installations Instructions? document. The installations order is also very important.

Answer:Satellite A300 and Vista 64-bit - non working and unknown devices

Hi

Did you install the right graphic card driver?
The Sat A300-1GN belongs to the PSAGCE series.
I checked the Toshiba driver page and there are two drivers;
I think you have to choose the ATI display driver 8.477 because this driver supports the Mobility Radeon HD 34xx/36xx chips.

The other base system devices could be Bridge Media slot (for SD cards), touchpad, HDMI Control Manager.

I didn?t find such 64bit drivers on the Toshiba page. Maybe you should choose some drivers for Vista 32bit

I installed vista ultimate yesterday, but unfortunately my U200 is not as vista compatible as the sticker would make me believe.
Non functioning items I've identified so far:
- Speakers and Headphone jack
- Function Keys
- Fingerprint Reader

Almost none of the included toshiba software installs even after turning "Application control security off"

Does anyone know where I can get the new drivers and software or when they will become available?

Otherwise really liking Vista. It is very responsive and simplifies many tasks. It looks nice too, but thats not my priority.
Any help gratefully received
Cheers

Hi,

satellite L300 OS - Vista 32

I installed new software to use USB port to connect the board and program that board During this installation some things went wrong and all my USB port are not responding or not working at all...

When i checked the Device Manager it shows like Other device -> Unknown device..

I install the chipset from Toshiba download and still I can?t solve the prob....

my USB all port not working..
my WiFi is not working..
my Camera is not working...

rest of all work i guess any suggestion to solve this problem?

Answer:Re: Satellite L300 - Unknown devices in device manager

Hi

Could it be possible that the 3rd party software which you have installed to use the USB ports has muddled up the whole system?

The driver for the unknown device which appear in the device manager can be identified very easily.

I recommend checking this HowTo:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78

You need the Vendor ID and Device ID and using these both ID in pci database would help you to find out the right driver.

By the way: if your Wlan and cam don?t work, install the drivers? die you already tried this?

Hi,

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:
ACPI\ASD0001\2&DABA3FF&1
and
ACPI\SMB0001\4&FE73487&0

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

?Unknown device

I have installed the sound and it works
I have installed the network adapter and it works

What are the above devices?

Answer:Satellite A200-1LA - unknown devices in device manager

Wait a moment. Which operating system you try to configure?

Have you checked on Toshiba download section if ?installations Instructions? document is available? If you just follow this document you will install all you need and everything will be OK.
Anyway, multimedia controller can be Multicard reader device, network controller is probably wireless card. I cannot say what unknown device is because I do not know which drivers you have installed already.

I've got a Satelitte A200 PSAE6E and it came with Vista.
Now i've downgraded to XP my self and installed all the drivers i could find from the toshiba website
I still have these problems:

1. I have a pci memory controller that is not identiyfied by windows and i want to resolve that

2. When i connect my video camera trough 4 pins firewire to my laptop does not found and when i do it by ieee1394 to usb, i get usb device not recognized (trieed downloading drivers for the cam but they did not work)

Please help me :)

thnx

Answer:Satellite A200 PSAE6E: unknown devices after XP installation

Hi

Regarding the point *1:*
The "PCI Memory Controller" or "Mass Storage Controller? means the Turbo Memory former Robson module. This feature is available only in Vista and therefore the drivers are not available for Win XP.

Check this:
[No Windows XP driver for PCI Memory Controller|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB83023N0000R01.htm]

*2)* I don?t know how it works with you camera but I needed to install firstly the cam drivers and then I have connected the camera to the notebook using an firewire-to-USB 2.0 cable and then I enabled the video camera.
My A200 recognized it immediately.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro U300 - 2 Unknown devices in Device manager running XP

One could be the unknown PCI memory manager.
This PCI memory controller is Intel Turbo Memory also called Intel Flash cache logic chip.
It is a new technology designed to support new Vista capabilities.
There is no driver for it for Windows XP, because XP doesn?t support the cache function. Only Vista supports this!

I have no idea what could be the other unknown device. Check simply what devices don?t run and you will know what it is!

Please, I need Your help.

I bought 4 days ago an Toshiba portable computer, detail spec is in attachment (Satellite A100-768, dual core)and with it came Vista system with directx 10. I wasn't satisfied how things work on that system (there's no game that worked on it NFS3, NF CARBON, ST LEGACY) so I decided to reinstall system and put XPSP2, and I did.

Now, I was aware that I need to find drivers, so I looked on site, and I didn't found exact match with model, so I download drivers for Satellite A100-S8111TD (american site of toshiba) but only for sound, blue tooth, hotkey, utilities, and so on, but only for wireless driver I did not (50megs Hugh through 50k modem).

I downloaded also Intel drivers for motherboard and graphic adapter, and all that work fine, BUT!!!
One problem come out, driver for sound card doesn't work -- driver installation goes fine, but it won`t start.

In device manager there are 3 question mark and one ! mark for sound card it says that can not start, code 10.
3 ? marks are for Network adapter, Ethernet, Mass storage <- what drivers that I need to download to get reed off it.

One of drivers that I downloaded did something in Command prompt window, and I suspect that he flashed BIOS and now I have TPM error. This TPM I found in security tab in Bios, but I can not change it, it wouldn't let me.
And one more thing, still, no game woudln`t start, what is happening

Please, give me advice, I am desperate

Answer:Satellite A100-784 (PAAANE) Cannot find XP drivers - unknown devices

Hi

First of all you can also try to download the drivers from Toshiba European page.
There are also XP drivers from different A100 series.

Anyway, I assume the sound does not work because the wrong XP driver was installed.
Different A100 series supports different sound cards.

As far as I know your A100-784 unit supports Realtek ALC 861 HD audio sound card.
Therefore you have to use the driver from Realtek.

The notebook supports also an Intel 945PM Express Chipset code name CalistogaPM + ICH7-M. I would recommend installing the Intel chipset diver. You could find it on the Intel page.

The question marks appear in the device manger because you need compatible drivers!
I assume you will need the LAN and WLan card driver.

The notebook uses Intel 82562GZ (Ekron) LAN card and therefore you have to look for the driver which support this chip!
I?m not sure about the WLan card but it seems it?s an Atheros WLan card.

As I said above? try the drivers from different A100 series and goggle additionally for 3rd party drivers.

good luck

After refreshing a family Dell Vostro 3460 with new HD, new Windows 7 and a driver disk that was also provided by the (legit) Windows vendor), and after all the Windows updates, everything is fine in Device Manager except for three items, for which updated drivers cannot be found, and one for which no driver present at all. I don't know enough to know where to being looking for whatever is needed.
They are:
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown device
USB2.0-CRW
The unknown might be the built-in card reader in the front? Just a guess, since no other USB devices are "attached" as for as I know.
The CRW is the one that shows up as having no driver present.
Can anyone assist me? More info needed from me?

You need to install drivers for that printer.

The unknown devices might be either disconnected or leftovers from a driver upgrade. I also have them plus some weird devices out there. I don't worry about them. You can remove them (I will do that in my case)

Answer:What are this unknown devices

I believe this problem may be to do with a card reader on your PC.

Make sure that you install the correct device drivers from your PC manufacturer's website or the disk that came with your PC (probably under removable media or chipset).

I hope this helps, if you have any questions please ask.

So I've had this computer for awhile, a little over a year. Sometimes my USB mouse would become unresponsive so I'd have to unplug it and replug it in, I thought nothing of it, it was an old mouse. So a few days ago this occurs, I unplug it and plug it back in and I get an 'Unknown USB Device' bubble. I restart and all is well, until I have to print a paper for my sister. I print and nothing comes out, I think its a printer problem until I plug in my camera and get a "Use USB 2.0 for faster speeds", which never came up before. I plug in my phone and I get "Samsung CDMA Technologies" with a yellow !, but no drivers, as there aren't any needed for the Samsung Rant, yet it still won't connect. I reformat after days of being a bit worried about it and the problem still exists after the reformat. I tried leaving it off and unplugged for a half hour and nothing works, even the clean format didn't help..

Anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions.. I'm afraid that somethings failing.

I have a tiny U64 with an Athlon 64 processor, running XP pro. when plugging in any USB device they show up as 'unknown device'. I have rebooted ,unstacked the USB controllers and hubs, checked drivers, unistalled all devices!! Yet when I plug in a plug and play device, it recognises that a device has been inserted, then 'new hardware' installed appears shortly followed by ' the device has malfunctioned' then 'unknown device'. None of the devices power up i.e 'DANE ELEC' data stick, Targus mouse, logitech tracball' and so on.The Bios says USB's OK. Completely stumped????

Answer:All USB devices 'unknown'

in the device manager click on the view tab and show hidden devices
uninstall all entries for usb
shut down the computer and remove all usb plugs
restart the comp twice and then replug every thing in

Question: Unknown Devices

Never thought I'd land in this forum! Hope it's the correct one I'm posting in. :-o

I had to remove and reinstall free AVG 8 TWICE due to problems. Then after that my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 didn't work in scanning mode anymore.

I removed all Epson related software programs, reinstalled it with the CD and now it works great again.

By co-incidence I checked into the Hardware Manager and found 2 yellow"question" marks in Unknown Devices. This is what it shows under details of unknown device properties.

They are: root\legacy_AVG8EMC\0000 and root\legacy_AVG8WD\0000

Got no idea what they are and to which hardware(?) they correspond to. As far as I know everything works just fine. Googled some but couldn't find anything useful.

Please advise what I need to do?

Thank you!!

Answer:Unknown Devices

Sometimes --- you have to manually take the cord out of the scanner and replug, I've had to do it a couple of times. You probably already know about this, but the mystery devices may be the scanner being freaky.

Dell XPS 13 9343
I have now downgraded to Windows 7 and installed all drivers. Everything works fine, but there are three unknown devices which I cannot detect. There is a "Other devices" branch in the device manager, and in this branch there are tree "unknown devices". I've tried to look for the missing drivers at Dell site using their support assistant, but to no avail. I have installed all possible drivers from the Dell website. I have looked for these devices/drivers with the Driver Detective, but it was not able to detect what is missing.
Any idea what is that?

Hello, i just reformatted my PC and there are a lot of unknown devices in the device manager, and most of the ones missing are very important (RAID controller, PCI controller ect.)

Can someone PLEASE tell me a way to identify them so i can use my hardware?

Much thanks

Answer:unknown devices

You'll need to identify the motherboard manufacturer and model, if you don't know it you can use a program like SIW to find out: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html
Once you do that you can go to the manufacturer's website and download the correct drivers.

I just installed a new motherboard ( Epox VIA P4M800) on my Pentium 4 system. I did a repair install and when I open device manager it lists alot of unknown devices and my internet will not connect. When you try to set up the connection ppoe is grayed out and not selectable under the new connections wizzard. The ethernet is built in to the motherboard and I did install the driver for it. Also what is all the unknown devices. I ran add new hardware and it came up with nothing. any help will be appreciated.

Answer:unknown devices?

You will need to get the drivers for those devices, it's probably whats stopping you going online, once you install them all see if it's cured your problem.

Answer:unknown devices

You show the model of the motherboard as being a D945GBI and I couldn't find that model at Intel's site. But I did find the D945GBO, and I figured the 'O' is next to the 'I' so maybe it was a typo. Here's the link to Windows XP drivers for the D945GBO Intel motherboard:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...XP+Home+Edition&lang=eng&strOSs=45&submit=Go!
The motherboard D945GBI was supplied to Gateway from Intel and was built into the Gateway 835GM Media Center PC's, so here's the drivers available at Gateway:

I just clean installed W7 on a Compaq F767NR laptop formerly running Vista SP1.
All went well and the laptop is up and running.
The laptop has a Quanta 30EA motherboard - Chipset nForce 560 Rev A2

In Device Manager there were 5 unknown devices listed.
1. PCI Bus 2, Device 5, Function 1 - Base System Device
2. PCI Bus 2, Device 5, Function 2 - Base System Device

5. Other Devices - MS ACPI Compatible Device

Windows Update had 2 drivers in Important Updates
HP Quick Launch Keys - installed, solved #5 above.
Ricoh Picture Card Controller Driver - installed, solved #3 above.

I then installed Vista chipset drivers v2.5A from HP for this laptop in compatibility mode. (SP37711.exe)
Solved #4 above.

That leaves me with #1 and #2 to go. Windows can't find drivers for these devices. The Hardware Ids are:

Answer:Unknown devices z60m

Hi sajimathew, Could you please provide some more info about your computer and OS like what Windows version do you use and is it 32 or 64 bit? What is the model/type of your z60m? You should find a sticker under the computer in the format "xxxx-yyy" where the X is 4 numbers and the Y is numbers and letters (for example 4328-3EG). Do NOT post your serial number in public, i'm only asking for the model number. Did you clean install Windows using a standard windows installation CD/DVD or did you use a Lenovo recovery CD/DVD set? For the Fn + function key to work you need to install the hotkey features software. The other unknown devices is probably some missing drivers because you did a clean install. I would recommend that you download Lenovo system update that will give you a list of drivers and lenovo software for your computer and it will give you the option to download and install all the drivers as well as other Lenovo software. That will save you a lot of time and work compared to downloading and installing each driver manually. You also have the option to deselect a driver or lenovo software if you don't want everything. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/tvsu-update.html Version 4.0 is for Windows 7 only while 3.14 is for XP and Vista. After using system update and if there still are some missing drivers or features that won't work you could reply to this thead asking for further help. Alright, one of my users is on a Dell Optiplex using Windows 2000.
We cannot add a printer, at all...
I can open the printers folder, and in there is the icon for 'Add Printer', but when I double-click on it, absolutely nothing happens, nada, zip, zero...
I went through and made sure that all the latest hotfixes, patches, and service packs are installed, but still nothing...
Upon going into Device Manager, I noticed that the printer was listed as 'Unknown Device', hmm...
But then I looked at everything else, (NIC, display adapter, sound card, and all that good stuff), and EVERYTHING is listed as an unknown device
The wierd thing is, is that everything else works fine despite being 'unknown'.
So I've been searching ALL over the web to see if anyone knows anything about what's going on here, but no luck.
Hopefully you fine people, who have been so helpful in the past, can come up with something.
So does anyone know if these two issues are related?
Even if they're not, does anyone know how to fix either one?
I would rather not reinstall 2000, but if it comes down to it...

Thanks

Answer:yellow ? with ! in unknown devices help

Adaware will put the deleted files in quarantine if you did not delete the files in quarantine you can restore them.

You could also try a restore point,,,,,,,,, start>programs>accesories>system tools> system restore. Choose a restore point to before the time the problem started.

Another option would be if your dell came with a driver cd you could reload the usb drivers off of it

As far as the usb card, did you load the drivers that came with the card on a cd?

Answer:How do I make an unknown devices known

It should be using the windows default HID driver. If it isn't I can't tell you why that has happened.
You may want to check windows update to see if any optional updates are outstanding.

There is no driver specifically for this device though. None was ever made.

You may also want to try disabling selective suspend.

Hi,

My problem is that I have a list of 257 unknown devices in Device Manager.
I tried downloading software that will detect them and tried googling the problem but no luck, so I'm really hoping you can help me :)

The below images can clearly show the problem..
If it helps, the Windows diagnostic test (or w/e) lists them as PlugAndPlay.
HELP!!

Answer:Unknown devices in Device Manager

Is this a new install, an existing install that this just started happening?
Have you added any new components lately?

If you delete them do they come back?

Is there anything not working on you PC?

Answer:Unknown devices on my Microsoft account

Hello Flemmingk,

Could these other devices be from friends that you may have signed in to your Microsoft account on for something?

Either way, you can remove these devices.

Hi all.

A couple days ago, I installed Windows 7 (through MSDNAA).

I have a problem with some devices. The situation can be seen here:

I tried updating driver software through windows and it said it was unable to find drivers

I have no idea what the "Unknown Device" may be. The "Multimedia Video controller" I'm guessing is my Nvidia graphics card? The Mass Storage Device I think is my Magicgate memory card slot, but I'm not sure.

I have an Nvidia 8400M GT graphics card and judging by what I've seen on the resolution window (and device manager), I'm currently running on my standard VGA graphics device, and not my Nvidia.

I manually searched for the drivers for my graphics card off the Nvidia site, but every time I try to install it, I get this messege

]I've already tried reformatting and reinstalling windows 7, now I'm running out of ideas. Can anybody please help?

I'm using a Sony Vaio TP3 computer. It's a "desktop" with laptop components and was initially running on Vista.

Thanks

Answer:Can't install drivers for my (unknown) devices??

For your unknowns try this. Unknown Device Identifier - Freeware Download

As far as the card, make sure you got the right drivers from nvidia for either x32 or x64 for windows 7. also try windows update a few times, not everything comes up right away. do these and report back lol

I have attached a view of what's listed in my device manager because there are two "unknown devices" listed under "Imaging Devices" and I have no idea what they are. The manufacturer is Creative Technology Ltd. but that's about all I know. Every time I start up my PC I get the message, "updating drivers" and then, "update failed" but the only thing that's not working properly is I can't seem to upload photos from my Canon Powershot any more. (That is in another post)

Does anyone know if these are connected?

Hi, I just bought a new ThinkPad T61 6460-EDGI am happy about it, but in the device manager there are a  3 "?" with a "!" inside them. Does anyone know what this could be?` Please write me back soon!

Answer:Unknown devices in Device Manager

If it is a new unit this should not happen. Did you cut the factory tape on the box? Maybe someone altered something? As far as fixing it. First try pressing the blue button at system startup and restore to factory defaults. If that doesn't work call Lenovo and tell them about it.You could go get unknowndevices, run it and it will give you a clue as to what the unknown devices are. Then go get the drivers and install them.

Hi All,
Recently bought an A7 and was convinced all the pre-installed Toshiba software was slowing things down. Managed to fresh install windows then use the Toshiba Apps installer to restore the components I actually wanted. All has gone well and the computer is about twice as fast now. However I have the following two unknown devices:

1) Device Type: Other Devices
Location: on Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9
Hardware ID: ACPI\IFX0102

2) Device Type: Other Devices
Locations: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
Hardware ID: ACPI\TOS620A

I have installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers and no luck. Perhaps one of them is the sound card (although I have installed those drivers as well), and one of them the HDD Protection (which I have no intention of installing anyways).

If anyone can confirm what they are it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Christin

Answer:Tecra A7: Two unknown devices after Win OS installation

Hi

The Toshiba drivers and utilities installation should be done in the right order.
The chipset utility should be installed at the beginning and then the common modules.
You should use the chipset form the Toshiba website.

The Tecra M7 supports also the HDD protection. Usually you should find it at the last position under "sound, video and game controllers" in the device manager.

I have found this Toshiba document how to identify a unknown device:
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB57014E000QR01.htm

Maybe it helps.

I have the latest Bluetooth driver and HP support tried to log in and troubleshoot, but all they did was rerun updates to the BIOS and Bluetooth driver (which are already up to date). I clean installed an ASUS Laptop Model a2500h, Windows XP Home edition SP3.

There are two drivers that I can't seem to locate. The Hardware ID's are as follows.

ACPI\WEC0515
ACPI\WEC0517\4&19A7495A&O

I know ASUS often has utility programs that show up as drivers, for example I had the ACPI\ATK0100 which was listed as an UNKNOWN DEVICE, and I installed that utility fine.

I am just not sure about the other two. I was told on another forum that it could be something to do with the sound drivers, but I suspect it is one of ASUS' little utility programs.

Any help would be appreciated. Also if any additional info is required, let me know and I will post it.

Answer:Device Manager 2 Unknown devices Help?

You can go to asus's official website to download drivers, in most cases is a sound card problem.Or you can go to download a "My Drivers", to another similarly configured machine up a backup drive, then copy to your computer up.Good luck.

Unknown device

I have the hardwired network working, so I am assuming that the missing one is the wireless. I have tried installing the wireless drivers of fthe Toshiba website, but they just error saying no wireless device found.

How can i find out exactly what hardware devices these are and what drivers I need to download.

Hi, I have recently upgraded my Lenonvo Z580 from Windows 7 to Windows 8.Before I upgraded, I ran the compatibility wizard and the only things it told me wouldnt be compatible is a couple of pieces of software I had installed. Since the upgrade, there are a few things showing in the Device Manager under Other Devices that are unknown. I have installed everything from the Drivers section on the Lenovo site but they are still showing. Bluetooth Peripheral Device5 x Unknown DevicesUSB2.0-CRW Im guessing the last one might be my SD Card Reader as I have just tried to use it and it didnt work. This is what prompted me to check the Device Manager in the first place. Can anyone help me please? Thanks,Harrison

Appreciate some assistance.

Trying to help someone with a Gateway PC running WMe. It is one of those very compact desktops with 3 USB ports in back, sound card input/output/mike, modem telephone line jack, and video connector. Not even a printer port on it.

USB Mouse does not want to work.

The individual has downloaded software from the Gateway site, but the issue prevails.

In Device Manager (Safe Mode or not), there is a listing for (+)Other Devices with an Unknown Device under it.

In the (+) Universal Serial Bus Controllers, the following appear:

USB Controllers
Generic USB Hub
Generic USB Hub
Intel 82801AA USB
Unknown Device
USB Composite Device
USB Hub

Attempts to remove the Unknown devices from Device Manager proved futile, and the mouse still does not work.

Any thoughts?

I removed both devices. I have never authorized these devices to connect and I am the only user of my computer.
