Preferred Solution: Satellite M30-801-Unknown device after installing W XP

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi !

I got trouble while installing XP on my L300 ... I download all of the XP driver on the Toshiba Website, preparing my setup CD with nLite and so on ...
But now, i've 2 unknow device in the devmgmt.msc console : seems to be the ACPI device. ( ACPI/GenuineIntel_family6_model15). Hal.inf is used as a driver for now.

But i failed to find some drivers for them ... Nothing in the driver I downloaded, nothing on the forum I know, even "my friend Google" didn't help me ... :-(
I downloaded the Toshiba ACPI Common Driver that I found on opendrivers.com but still as unknow devices...

So, I d like to know if someone has ever has this kind of trouble and if he can solve it ....

Or, if someone has a wonderful idea to solve it ...

Thanks !
K.

Answer:Unknown ACPI Device while installing XP on Satellite L300

Could you please print-screen the device manager list to somewhere? A picture may help.

At the moment, from your information: ACPI/GenuineIntel_family6_model15... , I think you need to google for a patch in Windows XP to fix the Dual-Core bug. (Windows XP dual-core fix) It will be better if you install SP3 on your computer now as this bug has been fixed.

Good luck.

Hi everybody.

I just bought myself a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 yesterday. After installing the card and the required drivers everything works like a charm. However, every time I start up my PC I get a message saying that a new device has been found on my system. On checking Device Manager I found an "Unknown device" entry under "Other devices".

I'm attaching a screenshot of Device Manager.

Are there any drivers I'm missing? It only happened after removing my old card (after uninstalling all its drivers) and installing the Radeon.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Unknown Device In Device Manager After Installing Radeon HD 4890

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 (I also have a Gigabyte 4890 and XFX 4890 in two other PCs). I think you need to install the latest ATI Catalyst Suite. You may have installed the driver only package. Anyway, I think it has to do with the HDMI capabilities of the card. High def sound is built into the card (the HD part of the card name) and the HD sound driver is part of the Catalyst Suite. When you use an HDMI cable to an appropriate display, HD sound is also transmitted through the same cable from the Radeon graphics card.

Of course, be sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 as it is required before you can install the full Catalyst Suite. The HD sound driver won't install without it. At least I had trouble before I installed .NET 3.5. I went to Windows Update and installed .NET Framework 3.5. 2.0 is included in that update and 2.0 wasn't available separately.

REF http://forums.techguy.org/t39523.html

I have a very similar situation.

I have a windows 98se machine runnong on an Intel Celeron 600MHz with 128MB of ram.

The OS was just installed.
I am trying to instal an HP USB burner - I used this device before with no problems.

The drivers are located on a diskette. The manuf instructions advise to connect the power and usb cables and boot the pc with the diskette in the drive when windows finds the new hardware select the floppy drive.

When the pc is booted is finds new hardware lists it as "unknown device" and does not promt me for any input. If I go to device manager the device has a red x. I've tried to remove the device and reboot - same thing. I've tried to update the driver and it says the best driver is already installed c:\windows\inf\usb.inf

The ref url was resolved by changing the order of connecting the cables.....I have tried ever combo I can.
Can someone please tell me how to point to the correct drivers ?

Thanks
Daniel

What is standing there as the non-installed device? Mass-storage or multimedia? Please be more precisely with your explanation and don?t forget the drivers to list.

Did you reinstall the operating system on your notebook?

Usually the notebook is delivered the Toshiba image and there should be unknown devices in the device manager?

In the forum some guys have placed the link to the very useful Toshiba document.
It described how to identify the unknown devices.
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB57014E000QR01.htm

Maybe it will help you to find out what device it is.
Then you can download the right driver from the Toshiba page?

Dear All,

I bought a Satellite L30-PS33 with Vista but due to driver issues with my existing peripherical equipments, I decides to change from Vista to XP.
I have a problem with internal HUB usb, even if the installation is OK with windows XP generic drivers when I plug an USB devise, I have the message: Unknow device.

Can you give a link to find the good drivers I have to use in my computer?
It's very difficult to use a computer without any USB equipment?

Thank you and I hope you have any solution for me.

Best regards.

Chris

Answer:Satellite L30-SL33 : Unknown device after pluging external device to USB

There are no USB drivers for any Windows operating system.
Fact is that USB driver are a part of the Windows system and you will not find any 3rd party drivers for a USB port.

In your case I would recommend updating the BIOS and to update the Win XP to the latest state. All XP patches and updates should be installed!!!

Hello there!

I would be very grateful for any help/hints if somebody has an idea what to do....

My gf has the above mentioned laptop (w/o preinstalled OS) and we can not get the display adapter to work properly - situation is as follows

1) mobile intel 4 series express chipset family and an unknown device with a question mark in device manager
2) both are on the same PCI BUS 0, device 2?
3) intel is not working because it has no free resources (should I delete the unknown device?) to work with
4) HW ID for the unknown device is pci ven_8086&dev_2A43 and for intel is pci ven_8086&dev_2A42 (so basically the same, right?)
5) last, but not least, if I go to Desktop-personalize-advanced (first of all no 1280*800 resolution) i see under adapter type: . Exactly, nothing... under properties, this appears: non plug and play device, Super VGA and under driver, I see just the status and option to Stop, Disable, Automatic, Demand.... the device on startup... .If i disable it, the display just does not light up when the laptop is turned on....
Any ideas? I am going insaneeeeee......

Vista Home Premium, all other Toshiba SW installed (value pack, intel, BIOS 1.9, etc... - maybe BIOS did this?!)

Thanks in advance!!!

p.s. maybe SP1 that I am installing now will help?!

Answer:Satellite L300 PSLBGE - Unknown device in device manager

Hi

Wait a moment: I have checked Vendor ID and Device ID on www.pcidatabase.com and this device is the Intel graphic card. So I think this is the reason why you can?t change the screen resolution.

I assume that you have forgotten to install the display driver. Check the Toshiba website because there you can download the driver:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

After this you shouldn?t have any exclamation marks anymore.

You can install SP1 for Vista but this will not solve the problem with the missing display driver. But you should install it because it contains a lot of security updates they are important. Furthermore I would recommend to install SP2 for Vista.

Hi.

It WinXP Pro + SP 3.
In Device Manager display, as an unknown device. Try all drivers, who were on a disk along with the laptop, nothing helps. Give the solution!

Answer:Re: Satellite 5200-701: Unknown device in the device manager.

Hi,

who should give you THE SOLUTION? I mean, you tried all drivers and nothing did installed... So, does your machine run properly? Does some device not work like it should?

Please check this firstly before installing all drivers without any success. Try to guess which device it could be, so then we can search for some solution.
A good beginning would be to check the device in the device manager and write some of the information which is contained in the Properties window of the device.
Please post the details which are in the properties of the device, maybe someone here in the forum can find out which device won?t work.

I assume also that the SP3 makes some problems, so another good option would be to deinstall the SP3 and go back to SP2.

solved. what had actually happened was when i put the card in, it had pushed into one of the empty memory modules clips. whether this was making the computer think that there was something actually in the module i don't know. it could also be that the card just wasn't seated properly because it was kind of forced against the clip and didn't seem to be in the pci express slot just right

Hello,

I'm new to this forum but not new to using Toshiba products.
Anyway, about a couple of weeks ago I started having problems with
my USB ports in the sense that they all started to die one by one: first
the upper right, then the lower to be followed shortly by the Sata/USB combo
port on the left(kept my mouse adapter there).

I have not used anything other than the regular on my USB ports, you know memory
sticks, external HDD(I used a Toshiba StoreArt 1TB), my mouse and pretty much it.
Naturally I started looking for a solution to my problem and tried everything, except
for a BIOS update.

I don't know what else to do, so I hope smbd having dealt with the same problem
can help me restore my USB ports functionality.

I'll post some screenshots:

Answer:Unknown device under USB on my Satellite L500-1XZ notebook

Hello and welcome to Toshiba support forum.

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there and give you exact diagnostic. In my opinion BIOS update is, at the moment, not necessary.
I don?t know if you have installed some additions software for usage with some external device but what you can try now is to reinstall chipset driver.

I have checked Toshiba download page and your notebook is supported for Win7 32 and 64bit so you can find it there. I wanted to post link here but I don?t know which version do you use.

Please do it at first and post some feedback.

Hello,

I have installed the Win 8.1 Enterprise Version on my Satellite P70-A. All devices besides ACPI\TOS620A\2&DABA3FF&2 are supported with correct Drivers.

Does anyone know which device it is, for instance Bluetooth Driver?
The device Manager confirms that I have Bluetooth devices for Andoid, Generic Bluetooth and Microsoft Bluetooth.

I have downloaded bfdp-20131011113844.zip and executed the exe file. I'm wondering that this exe is not displaying something like "Successfully installed" or so.

So I'm not really sure if Bluetooth is really installed and if Bluetooth is the issue.

hi there.

My CD/DVD Rom device (toshiba SD-C2612) stopped working- it was still registering as a drive, but wouldn't read disks - so I got a replacement and that doesn't install at all.

I also noticed that in Device Manager - under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers - there's an "unknown device" which is called "hdc" (hard disk controller??) which has no drivers installed and cannot find new drivers when I go to update them. I've disabled the device and that stopped the old cd/dvd rom from being recognised and when I reboot it reinstalls the hdc but it is still registering as a unknown device.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I recently installed Win 7 home premium on my laptop.

Doing so you will see the devices that are connected with the laptop. In the icon for my Laptop (toshiba L300) there is a yellow trangle with an! I am instructed to install a driver for an "unknown device".

Doing so (by choosing the option "allow this solution) does not bring me any further. The wizzard doesn't find any drivers and I still don't wich device is ment.

I've found the unknown device by selecting "show hidden devices" in the device management, so here it is:

The hardware id says:
ACPI\TOS1901 TOS1901

changeinging the attribute or property (sorry guys, my version is dutch and I do not know the proper englisch name) to "name of the device" it says:

Anyone got any suggestions?

Hi friend,

theres another post with the same issue:

Maybe thats then a device which can be left since you won?t get any drivers for it. Another good option would be to google for that error..

Hi,

Have a Satellite A500 that I have recently restored to factory settings from the Recovery partition and reinstalled my Win7 upgrade.

I have a couple of unknown devices in device manager and have no way of knowing what they are.
They would normally be a problem for me except I am also getting USB disconnect sounds every now and then, and warnings about USB2 devices being plugged in to a non high speed port.

I of course have nothing plugged in at the time so I expect there is some device that is malfunction and not being detected properly.

The devices I first suspected (webcam, tvtuner, touchpad) all appear in device manager normally so I am at a loss as to what's causing this.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite A500 - Unknown device - USB problem

Hi

Did I understand this correctly?

You have restored the A500 to the factory settings using the Toshiba recovery procedure and the unknown devices still appears in the device manager?

That?s strange because the Recover disk should set the notebook back to the same state like at the first day of purchase. So usually the unknown devices should not appear and all drivers should be installed properly.

However, I found an interesting and in my eyes useful HowTo document which should help you to find out which drivers are missing in your case.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (Genuine) installed all the drivers I could find in Toshiba's site and almost all Windows Updates but I have one device that is not recognized :

1) Unknown Device

Hey,

Unfortunately I think nobody here can say you what device driver is missing exactly?
Can you post the vendor and device ID?

Maybe this document can help you a little bit:

Hi,

satellite L300 OS - Vista 32

I installed new software to use USB port to connect the board and program that board During this installation some things went wrong and all my USB port are not responding or not working at all...

When i checked the Device Manager it shows like Other device -> Unknown device..

I install the chipset from Toshiba download and still I can?t solve the prob....

my USB all port not working..
my WiFi is not working..
my Camera is not working...

rest of all work i guess any suggestion to solve this problem?

Answer:Re: Satellite L300 - Unknown devices in device manager

Hi

Could it be possible that the 3rd party software which you have installed to use the USB ports has muddled up the whole system?

The driver for the unknown device which appear in the device manager can be identified very easily.

I recommend checking this HowTo:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78

You need the Vendor ID and Device ID and using these both ID in pci database would help you to find out the right driver.

By the way: if your Wlan and cam don?t work, install the drivers? die you already tried this?

Hi !

I have this kind of a problem: I am working with my external Toshiba 3,5 alu case HDD 500GB and after a while of copying files into laptop it dissappears and shows up that device wasn?t recognised.
Can this be caused by not enough power in USB port?

THX for any help or workaround

Answer:Satellite A200-1SI - external HDD after a while shows up "unknown device"

Hi there,

yes this may be caused by the fact there is not enough power supplied by the USB port. firstly note that 3.5inch external USB hard drives are usually designed to be used with desktop systems due to their higher power requirements (this is also the reason that many require an external power supply of their own). my suggestion would be in future buy a 2.5inch external USB hard drive designed for use with laptops. another reason that the hard drive may disappear while copying files is that there may be a problem with the USB cable connection between the laptop and the external HDD. i would suggest checking that both ends are plugged in securely and not to place any pressure on the cables and to keep them stable.

i hope this helps you with your matter

Just bought a Satellite M50D-A-10L and after 1 week, the HDD failed. Of course, I had to replace it on my expenses, because warranty would do so in about 2 weeks, which was too long to wait for me.
Anyway, I've lost also the preinstalled Windows 8.1 but that's not a tragedy, because I reinstalled it and everything is working fine.
The problem I have I that one of the drivers is unrecognized by "Device Manager". The device is named "Device ACPI". Any idea what missing driver is all about?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

PS: Not sure how to attach a screenshot of "Device Manager" with missing driver...

Hi,

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:
ACPI\ASD0001\2&DABA3FF&1
and
ACPI\SMB0001\4&FE73487&0

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

Now, the webcam will appear as "Unknown Device".

The software on the Toshiba page I have installed. Unfortunately you camera is still unknown in Device Manager.

Solution / or possibly the "inf" file.

Answer:Satellite L550-11E - Webcam appears as Unknown Device

Hi

The webcam driver v 1.1.1.4 is available on the Toshiba driver page and it should work properly.
Did you check in BIOS settings in webcam is enabled?
Please do that firstly!

BIOS -> Advanced -> System settings

If webcam is enabled, ensure that Win 7 Value Added Package has been installed before webcam software.

If this will not solve the installation issue, I would recommend trying an newer version of webcam software which is released for newer Satellite notebooks series

ACPI\TOS1901 *TOS1901 <--- This is the unknown device after BIOS update to 5.10 on my Satellite A100-153 notebook

now vista shows it in device manager as unknown ; the TOS1900 was shown too, but after installing Toshiba Value Pack for Vista it is gone.

Please help. WHAT IS: ACPI\TOS1901 *TOS1901

Answer:Unknown device on Satellite A100-153 after BIOS update to 5.1

Hi

ACPI -> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that enable OS-directed configuration and Power Management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is needed for the stand by and hibernation mode.

Now to you question; the new BIOS was updated and configured for VISTA usage.
It seems the VISTA was not compatible with the previous BIOS version because of the ACPI interface. Now you can install the Vista on the notebook but it seems you will need an driver. Possibly new chipset driver release could help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately?

I'm waiting for answers. I am greeting everyone. Sorry for my English

Answer:Satellite L500-1GE - Battery unknown in device manager

Hi

There is no battery driver that you mean. It?s a part of Windows and you don?t have to change anything on it.

So please check the device manager again. What devices you mean exactly? Have you already checked the device and vendor ID?

Maybe you should try to remove both entries and restart the notebook. After this the drivers should be installed automatically.

Hi

I have recently reinstalled Windows on my computer, after the installation a problem have occured. With an interval of 10-15 my computer freezes for about a second - the computer doesn't react to input, and if a sound is playing it repeats over and over.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but when I boot the computer i get the error message "failed to read handler!" I have noticed that I have one unknown device in my device manager, the Location: Location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus). I can't find the driver.

I don't know if the problems are related, I just want the freezing part to be fixed.

Best wishes

Wait a moment. Which operating system you try to configure?

Have you checked on Toshiba download section if ?installations Instructions? document is available? If you just follow this document you will install all you need and everything will be OK.
Anyway, multimedia controller can be Multicard reader device, network controller is probably wireless card. I cannot say what unknown device is because I do not know which drivers you have installed already.

Could you please check if you can see the "Batteries" entry under "Computer? in the device manager?
As far as I know the batteries entry should have a "Microsoft SMART Battery" & "Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem?.

If there is an unknown device this could have something to do with Microsoft ACPI Compliant Embedded Controller.
In such case it seems you need a driver for MS SMART Battery & MS SMART Battery Subsystem.

Hello,

I've just completed a *CLEAN* Vista install on my A105-S2091 Satellite.
Installation was smooth and clean.

After Installing all of the recommended *DRIVERS* (I chose not to install *ANY* Toshiba utilities) ,
I was left with two unknown devices in the device manager.

One was ACPI\TOS1901.
After searching the forums, I found a thread that indicated that installing the Toshiba Supervisor Password Utility, would fix
this device, which it did.

I'm left with Unknown device ACPI\TOS1900. A search of the forums here havenot been helpful.
I +really+ don't want to install any Toshiba utilities that aren't absolutely necessary.

Does anyone know what drivers need to be installed to fix the Unknown Device, ACPI\TOS1900?

Thanks!

I have tried to install the correct drivers from the Toshiba web site but no luck.

I feel it is an issue with Microsofts UAA but can not figure the exact problem out.

Answer:Unknown Device on High Definition Audio Bus on Satellite M200

Hi

I presume you are using the XP OS. Is it right?

Well buddy, had an similar issue and was able to solve it.
You need to install firstly the MS hotfixes / patches.
AUDIO Patch 1: KB835221 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835221
AUDIO Patch 2: KB888111 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

These patches have to be installed at the beginning before any of the sound drivers would be installed on win XP.

After you have installed the patches you could follow with Realtek sound driver installation

After installation, the web cam HD is appearing in the Imaging section.
When I launch the Toshiba software "web camera application" it light up the camera then blackout.

I check back the device manager, USB Unknown Device is back in the list and " HD camera" disappear..

Of course, I would like to avoid the reinstall

Answer:Satellite C870-14T and Win7 - webcam not detected - USB Unknown Device

It is not easy to say what is wrong there especially if the cam is detected by the system again and again. It looks like system can detect connected device but it is confusing for me why preinstalled driver cannot works properly.

At first try please to enter BIOS settings and check if there is option for webcam. If yes be sure it is enabled properly.
Try please to repeat action with driver installation just to see if the same will happen again.
In case that webcam is recognized properly again try to test it with other webcam application like Skype. Does the same happen again?

I'm getting one Unknown Device in windows 7 on a toshiba Satellite C850-19D.
The hardware ID is ACPI/TOS6205.

Al suggestions found in the forum and net didn't work:

It's not bluetooth: Installed both of drivers in the drivers download page, none resolved the issue:

Installed HDD/SSD Alert Utility and PC Health Monitor due to the suggestion that it was an issue with HDD Protection Utility:

[t-53498]

Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite C850-19D - ACPI/TOS6205 Unknown Device under Windows 7

Hi

The ACPI/TOS6205 seems to be Bluetooth device.
Satellite C850-19D was equipped with an Realtek RTL8188CE-VLSA WLan / Bt combo card.
Therefore I?m sure its BT device.

You said you installed the BT driver but it didn?t work.
I think you did it wrong.

The point is that WLan / Combo cards needs an BT driver filter package.
SO you should install: Realtek WLan driver, then Realtek BT driver filter package and finally the Toshiba BT stack.

Yes, this could be the internal webcam.
Seems the driver has not been installed properly.
What to say; first of all remove the old webcam software from the system.
Then clean the OS using an tool like CCLeaner for example.
After that go to device manager and remove the unknown device.
Reboot the unit.
Install the webcam software again and check if the device has been recognized again.

The *webcam* on my *Satellite Pro L670-18F PSK3FE* which is running *Windows 7 64-Bit* worked fine until this week. My notifications bar started to say *"unknown USB device"* and when when I went to use the webcam it was no longer working.

When I turned the webcam off in the BIOS the notification stopped but when I turned it back on the notification kept coming up again. The unknown device is clearly the webcam.

I have updated my BIOS and tried system restore.

I have also downloaded the driver for the webcam from http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK and have been trying to run that - +but it NEVER seems to finish installing!+ I will keep trying to reload the driver and see if that helps but as of now I do not believe that the driver will help.

If this is only a driver problem could someone suggest how I get the driver to actually install :-(

I am now at a loss. I am unsure what to do now. Suggestions?... +please!+

Answer:Satellite Pro L670-18F PSK3FE Webcam stops working become "Unknown Device"

Hi

Unknown device means that the driver is not installed.
I think the webcam driver installation should fix this.

Since the face recognition use the webcam too, I recommend uninstalling this tool as well as the old version of webcam software.
Both (or just face recognition) should appear in control panel -> software

Now download the both applications from the driver page.
Start with webcam driver installation:
1) Unzip the webcam driver package

2) The TC30049700N.exe can be unzipped too (right click -> extract here)

3) Now you should see different files exe, dll, and others? try to execute the setup.exe to start the installation. If this does not work, go to device manager, mark the unknown USB device (webcam) and install the driver pointing to the extracted folder containing the webcam driver files. The system should pick up the dll files automatically.

4) Reboot the notebook and follow with face recognition software.

Good luck

I have recently bought a laptop. On Toshiba products page it's listed as Satellite A210-199 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3). If I follow the link to the drivers page, it's listed as Equium A210 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3).

the laptop came with VISTA home premium, which i do not like/want, but functions flawlessly. After full install of WXP Professional SP2, (latest updates, all drivers from Toshiba home page, etc), the hardware device manager lists a "BASE SYSTEM DEVICE" under "system devices", for which it cannot find the drivers (yes, it also automatically searched the internet and that did not help either).

I tried to uninstall the device and reboot, just to see what happens. And I got the standard taskbar baloon with "found new hardware". Windows still did not find any drivers for it, and it still lists as a yellow exclamation mark in the hardware device manager. The only difference is that now it's no longer under "system devices", but instead it is an "unknown device" under "other devices" (you know, the big yellow question mark icon)

After a clean full reinstall, it's still an "unknown device" under "other devices".

EDIT: maybe I should also mention that when I install the graphics and sound drivers, windows says I modified some important system files and I must reinsert the original cd with WXP SP2 kit.

I upgraded to Windows 10 a while back. Every time I open the computer I get a pop-up notification telling me the USB device is unrecognized. I have no USB devices in any of my 3 USB ports.
I sent my computer in twice. No help. They just uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and told me it should be fixed. It is not. I then went about updating every driver in my Device Manager. I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device and then updated
other drivers. Certain drivers (such as PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14) when updating would also reinstall the Unknown USB Device, which I would then uninstall and keep working down the list. At the end of updating EVERYTHING I scanned for hardware changes
and "found" the Unknown USB Device.
From what I can tell, and I know very little about this stuff, my computer can't name one of my USB ports. Since it can't figure out what it's called it can't download the proper driver for it. Since it can't download the proper driver it can't work properly.
The practical result from this is that one of my three USB ports does nothing when I put in any USB item (connect my android phone, thumb drive, presentation clicker, etc).
I've looked on tons of forums. My current thought is that if I can tell my computer what the deice is or download the right driver and tell my computer to use that driver for this device it should solve my issue. But I don't know how to know what the name
of the USB port should be (I imagine it woul... Read more

Answer:Re: Problem installing WLAN device for Satellite A100-813

Hi

Seems you tried to install the wrong drivers for wrong notebook series.
The Sat A100-813 belongs to the PSAA8E series and the notebook has been equipped with the Intel 3945ABG WLan card and with Intel Pro/100 LAN card.

So both are Intel chips.
Check the Toshiba European driver page again and try to install the drivers again!

Hi there,

I purchased a U400-17R Model with Vista Home. i Formatted it and installed Windows XP Professional downloading the XP drivers from Toshiba site.

Everything works but my Sound Device is not working. when i check in the Device Manager the Sound Drivers are there and it says working properly.

I am Lost...Can anyone please help?

Answer:Satellite U400-17R - Sound device is not working after installing XP

Hi

I think you?ve got the same problem like me some month ago?.
I?ve installed Win XP with SP2?

The sound didn?t work because I didn?t install the necessary MS patches; KB835221 & KB888111

The patches must be installed at first before the sound driver would be installed.
If you have already installed the sound driver then you should remove (uninstall it) before you would install the MS patches.

PS: The MS patches are a part of the SP3

IBM ThinkCentre A50 8320-7EG, Windows XP

Just reformatted and reinstalled, lists the ethernet, audio and video as 'unknown devices' (ethernet at least definately worked fine before reformat). All integrated with the motherboard.

Have tried to install drivers from the disk, downloaded from the IBM website and from driver packs but nothing has had any effect, using the wizard it won't recognise any drivers, installing the alleged drivers manually it says they have installed on the installation wizard thing, but nothing's changed with the device in device manager.

I assume somehow I must have the wrong drivers, but not sure how this could be the case, or really what else I can try.

Thanks very much for any help!!

Hi folks,

I am getting an error message when I try to install new hardware on my notebook. Windows XP tries to find the drivers and then comes up with the following error after a few minutes. The software starts to install but then comes up with the following:

'There was a problem installing this device:

USB mass storage device
An error occured during the installation of the device
The data is invalid

This has happened with a USB card reader and my mobile. Once I clear the error box i get a message saying the device won't work properly?

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Cheers

Answer:USB mass storage device installing issue on Satellite M30 PSM30E

Hi

What notebook series or notebook model do you have exactly?
Could you please post the whole number? This would be very useful for the further investigation!

Usually the whole Toshiba driver installation must be done in the right order.
In most cases you would find a installation instruction txt file on the Toshiba driver page.
You have to follow this instruction to ensure that all drivers would run correctly.

Hi All,

I own a Satellite A500-138 - Part Number: PSAM3E-013014H2.
I just finished upgrading the O/S from the horrible vista to Windows 7 Ultimate 64. Upgrade was smooth. Drivers and utilities were easily located on your website and install correctly. Almost all seems to beworking OK...
I'm left with 2 issues:

1. Device manager still shows one "Unknown Device".
Device Details show hardware IDs of ACPI/ENE0200 and *ENE0200
What is it and where can I find its driver?

2. I can't locate the cool LAN/WLAN manager utility that came with vista.

Thanks in advance,

Ami

Answer:Satellite A500-138 "Unknown Device" in Windows 7

Hi Ami,

Have you checked the device and vendor ID of the unknown device? You can check this in properties of device.
Maybe it?s the Bluetooth adaptor if your notebook is equipped with such one?

Regarding the WLAN tool, I think you mean ?ConfigFree?. You can download it on the Toshiba website. Maybe the Vista version works also on Windows 7.

Good luck! :)

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to http://support.lenovo.com , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

Answer:Lenovo Solution Center Shows Unknown Device But Device Manager Doesn't

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform that it is a false indication from Lenovo solution center. Since Windows doesn?t detect any missing device drivers within the device manager, there is no driver that is missing.
If the warning keeps popping up, change the reminder settings to ?never?. Probably, you have to wait for an LSC update in which the bug would be fixed.

Refer here for further information regarding the issue.

Hope it helped!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I was just working happily when my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse just suddenly stopped working.
The Bluetooth settings page says "Bluetooth is turned off" and there are no options on the settings page or the system tray to turn Bluetooth on.
The Device Manager now has "Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed" where it did not before.
Other devices all seem to be working fine - USB devices plugged in are being recognized and work properly. Only BT seems to be broken.
I've tried:
uninstalling the device and rebooting
installing the latest updated chipset drivers from the dell website
windows updates
pretty much all of the advice here: http ://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-usb-device-not-recognized-device-descriptor-request-failed

Any other ideas?
Thanks

Answer:XPS 15 9550 Bluetooth stopped working (Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed)

So in desperation I just went into BIOS settings to see if there are any BT settings that may have become disabled. I didn't see any, and I didn't change any other settings.
After rebooting, BT and my mouse is now working again.
Something seems to be really flaky here, but hopefully this will help others with the same issue.

Hav you already checked the vendor and device ID in device manager? Check this please and on this website http://www.pcidatabase.com/ you can enter these ID?s and then you can see what device it is.

Furthermore the drivers can be downloaded from Toshiba directly:

Hello,
I recently put together a new computer, and in the process of of installing the USB 3.0 connector from the front of my GX500 case, I either bent numerous pins on the motherboard USB 3.0 header or the motherboard shipped that way and I inadvertently made matters worse. Anyway, that header on the motherboard is without a doubt unusable.
Since I don't really need the USB 3.0 functionality, I bought a USB 3.0 -> 2.0 adapter cable, connected one end to the connector on the front of the case and the other end into the USB 2.0/1.1 header on the motherboard. Unfortunately, when Windows 7 boots and I plug a device into the front ports of the case, Windows detects the front USB ports as "Unknown Device" within Device Manager yet says the driver is successfully installed. I've already downloaded the most current Intel chipset drivers for my motherboard, deleted and reinstalled all USB drivers, and all rear USB connections are working perfectly fine - it's just the two front ports that are connected from the case to the USB 2.0/1.1 ports via the adapter cable.  I've tried both USB 2.0/1.1 headers on the motherboard, and I've tried plugging in several devices to the front USB ports, and this problem still persists.
I've ensured the connection inside the case is solid, yet I cannot get Windows to recognize the front USB ports.  However, I have confirmed that power is being sent to the front ports because it charges my phone when I connect it to the front USB ports via m... Read more
