Satellite L505-13N - touchpad does not work in Win 8.1

Question: Satellite L505-13N - touchpad does not work in Win 8.1

Hello,

I've a Satellite L 505-13N and installed windows 8.1.
While a lot of shortcut keys (screen, lock, sound etc) work properly, I can't control the touch-pad.

Initially in Windows 8.1 where drivers for touch-pad (Synaptics PS/2) installed.
Device manager shows that the device is installed and works properly but it doesn't.

I've found and installed the driver package "Synaptics_v15_2_20_C_XP64_Vista64_Win7-64_Signed_Marketing_SGS94_UI-Scrybe" but I still cannot use the device..

I've seen already that my device is not supported for windows 8 (I wonder why??)
but I would be grateful if anybody could propose an idea for waking it up..

Greetings
Argi

Preferred Solution: Satellite L505-13N - touchpad does not work in Win 8.1

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite L505-13N - touchpad does not work in Win 8.1

The installed Synaptics driver package does not seem to be compatible with Win 8.1.
In the description it say clearly: Vista 64bit, Win7 64bit

Maybe you should simply try to install the Synaptics touchpad driver which was released for other, newer notebook models. Newer notebook series supports Win 8.1 and in my opinion there is a good chance to get the touchpad working using the Win 8.1 driver version.

Swapped motherboard in this laptop because the old one had died. After plugging everything in and double checking all of my connections, here are the symptoms I am having now:

When the machine boots to windows I have no keyboard or touch pad. I have keyboard function at post long enough for me to hit f2 and get to the CMOS settings, after that I lose keyboard, except for using the function key and f4 to change monitors,

On boot up I can turn number lock on and then nothing again. I have tried resetting the CMOS, o have tried pulling all the cards like wireless and modem, tried different sticks of ram and even pulling the hard drive. If you have any thoughts or have seen this before please clue me in,

Thanks,

Eddie

I turned my touchpad off to use a regular mouse, and now that I need it back on, it won't turn back on.
Can anyone give me another way to get it to turn back on? I tried taking the battery out without the power plugged in, still won't turn back on.

Thanks for any help.

If you cannot enable touchpad using FN+F9 key combination, check mouse properties. There must be the option to enable it.

Does flash cards (FN keys option) work properly? Can you see flash cards when you press FN button?

Hello everybody,

I have two questions and I will highly appreciate your help.

First, when I got the laptop it used to have a Fn bar that comes down from the top of the screen when I press Fn, it shows all the Fn keys, now it disappeared. I need to get it back, I almost tried everything and nothing is there yet.

Second, the touch pad is not zooming anymore when I apply the 2 fingers in and out, it used to do that before.

My laptop is Satellite L505-13W

Thank you in advance

Answer:Satellite L505-13W - FN keys not shown and touchpad issue

Hi abdouni,

1. I think the problem is related to Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools control the FN keys and the Flash Cards appear if you press FN key.
You can download it on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Regarding the installation: First of all remove both tools and restart the notebook. Now install Value Added Package and restart again. Install Flash Cards Support Utility and make one restart. Now the FN keys should work again.

2. This could be related to Value Added Package too? So check my posting.
If it?s not work, reinstall the touchpad driver.

Hi
i've some problems in my laptop

1- Fn key doesn't work with any service from Toshiba, only with the windows keys, this happened after the some windows critical updates(win 7 64 bits)
2- i didn't find my laptop' serial number or part number in Toshiba website.

please any one can help me
thanks

Answer:Satellite L505-13t - Fn key doesn't work

Hi

The FN buttons are controlled by Flash Card Support Utility.
You need to reinstall this tool.
But also the VAP (value added package) should be reinstalled.

I recommend firstly to remove the Flash Card and VAP from the system.
Then to reboot the unit and to clean the registry using CCleaner.
After that you should install both tools again; VAP and Flash Card Support Utility

Recently had a minor spill incident on my laptop. I quickly removed the battery and power and let it dry for a few days.
After two days I tried starting it but with no success. I then carefully opened the laptop and very carefully cleaned and dusted it all the way down to the motherboard. Amazingly it started working perfectly again, except for the keyboard, and I don?t know what to do.

I?ve tried making sure the strip is correctly inserted into the motherboard countless times, and tried to uninstall and reinstall the keyboard drivers but both have been no to help. What I want to know is; if there are any of you who have had the same problem, and if there is a way to check whether it?s my keyboard or motherboard that is busted.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite L505-119 - keyboard doesn't work after spill incident

> ... if there is a way to check whether it?s my keyboard or motherboard that is busted.
In my opinion there is only one way to check this: keyboard replacement. You must test functionality with new keyboard to see if everything is OK.

Hi,

Last week I received my brand new Toshiba C70-B-21C. After windows updates, the touchpad does not work anymore. My mouse does. I tried the options FN F5 and FN F9, but no result. Also dowloading the driver on toshiba site has no effect.

Restarting several times, and also deleting the touchpad from system settings do not help. The touchpad works in the first screen, but after entering my username and password, it stucks.

What to do now?

Good morning,

I apologize for my bad English, however, a couple of months ago I bought a Toshiba laptop (L50 - B - 24C) and after a few weeks the touchpad stopped working. I, previously, I had connected a mouse for comfort for some programs.

Now when I disconnect the mouse pointer disappears from the screen.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Answer:Satellite L50-B-24C - touchpad does not work

Hi

I guess your notebook supports ELAN touchpad driver.
I read in other thread that in the past an ELAN touchpad driver update caused some problems and the touchpad did not work properly…

Therefore I would recommend you to uninstall the ELAN touchpad driver from the system.
After that, reboot the notebook and check if the touchpad would work again…

In case the touchpad would work, download the ELAN touchpad driver from the Toshiba driver page and install it again.

A couple of months ago I bought the Toshiba Satellite C70-B-212. However, since some weeks the Touchpad doesn't work anymore. I allready re-installed the driver, but that didn't help.

What can be the problem?

Answer:Satellite C70-B - Touchpad doesn't work

Hello

On this virtual way it is not easy to say for sure what the problem is but I cannot imagine that touchpad is defective after short period of time. Although, everything is possible.

Please check in device manager if touchpad is properly installed and listed there.
If there is everything OK, be sure touchpad is enabled properly. Check please FN+F5 key combination.

Answer:Re: TouchPad on Satellite L30 does not work anymore

Hi there,

did you already tried the key combination FN-F9?? This key combination reactivates the touchpad in case of deactivation.
Otherwise, backup all you important data and recover your machine since it would be the last solution to make the touchpad working again.

Hi all,

I've had my Satellite L50-A013 for about 7 months now.

In the past month or so I started to have issues with the touchpad freezing and not registering my touch.
This lasted a few minutes at a time then came back of it's own accord, almost like a very long period of lag.
This morning, however, I turned on my laptop and the touchpad did not work at all.

The device manager does not show any mouse or pointing device at all until I attach a USB mouse.
Pressing the key which normally enables/disables the touchpad yields no result - nothing changes and the light does not turn on in either position.

I have tried reinstalling drivers with no result, and windows finds no updates that could help (nor any recently that could have caused the problem).

If anyone has any more ideas for what I can try, that would be amazing.
The laptop is under warranty so I can hopefully get it fixed, but if possible I would really like to not have to go without a computer until it is sorted.

Thank you all for your time,
-Sase

Answer:Satellite L50-A013 - touchpad does not work

Hi Sase

It is not easy to say what the problem is but I can imagine that there is hardware problem. Maybe touchpad looses connection to the mainboard. I mean if this piece of hardware is not detected I can imagine this scenario.

Of course best test you can do now is to reinstall OS and test functionality with ?factory settings? but it will delete your actual OS configuration and preinstalled software.

If this kind of test is possible do it. if not I think you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They have special diagnostic tools and they can check it for you.

Hi All,

I just recently bought a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite x200-219. Had a few problems with it which I have overcome now, apart from one... The touchpad does not work as it should. I think the cable has been damaged at some point.

So I am wondering if I have to use the same ribbon cable to connect the touchpad to the motherboard or can I get one from a different model of Toshiba laptop?

I have tried searching on the net for advice but have come up with nothing so thought I would try the forums.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Satellite X200-219 - The touchpad does not work as it should

I think you can use the parts released for Satellite X205 series since this seems to be the same series like X200:
Found some parts related to the touchpad:
Satellite X205/X200 touchpad board with cable: part number: K000047950
Satellite X205/X200 TOUCH PAD FFC part number: K000047980

But why you don?t get in contact with an Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and order the needed and compatible part?

Answer:Touchpad does not work on Satellite A100-812

Hi,

did you make a reinstall of the driver? I think if you disabled it with msconfig it should run after reactivating and if not, remove that driver and install it
again. The driver (so the touchpad) should be available after reinstall and restart of Windows.

Would appreciate some feedback if it worked. :)

I have a Satellite P300D -131 with Windows 7 64 Bit. The touchpad does not work at all.

Activating with Fn + F9 has no effect. The device manager tells me that the device is working.
Who knows the reason? Could be a driver problem.

Where can I get an appropriate driver? I have already searched the software download center of Toshiba without success.

Answer:Satellite P300D - touchpad does not work

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer some precise diagnostic so answer to your question can be just speculation about possible reasons.

In your posting it is not clear since when you have this problem.

I have installed Win7 64bit on several P300 notebooks and everything was ok.
Since when you have this problem? I cannot imagine touchpad doesn?t work all the time since when you use Win7.

Interesting is that I?ve saw that Windows update offers Synaptics driver update listed as optional update. Have you maybe installed it?

Have you installed touchpad driver from Toshiba download page? If yes, have you tried to remove it and test functionality?

Does touchpad works in safe mode?
Open mouse properties and check if device is enabled/disabled?

Does somebody know how i can recover my touch pad. (ALPS)

Answer:Satellite P20 PSP26C - touchpad does not work

Hi

Possibly it?s a hardware malfunction???

But before we will suggest a touchpad fault you should reinstall the notebook with the delivered Toshiba recovery CD to check if this issue could be related to the software error!

Usually after the installation of the recovery CD the notebook will be set back to the factory settings and the whole system should run correctly.
But if this doesn?t help then the hardware could be really faulty and an replacement is needed!

So check this!

Answer:Satellite A80-154 - Keyboard and Touchpad don't work

Hi

It looks like a hardware problem.
If the warranty is valid you could contact the ASP in your country for a hardware check.

If the warranty is not valid you could firstly check if the keyboard cable was connected to the motherboard properly.
If it?s connected properly then a keyboard malfunction is possible and it would be advisable to check if a replacement would help to solve this issue.

The compatible parts can be ordered also from the ASP in your country.

Hey fellas..

if your touchpad is not shown in device manager there are two possibilities. If there is shown an unknown device you have to reinstall the driver. If not there must be a hardware problem that has to be solved by service.

What are the main differences between the L505-144, L555-11K and A500-1GL?

They are the same price and seem to be very similar, with only small differences in processing power, graphics card and sound.

Which is the best model?

Answer:Re: Differences between Satellite L505-144, L555-11K and Satellite A500-1GL

Hi

I think you should take a look on the Toshiba notebook specification page and should compare both notebooks:

*Satellite L505-144*
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L505-144/1081190/

*Satellite A500-1GL*
http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-A500-1GL/1080934/toshibaShop/false/

Satellite L505-144 has been released in UK and the Satellite A500-1GL has been released in Germany.

The L505-144 supports faster and better CPU, it has been delivered with Win 7 32bit and 64bit. It supports the nVidia instead of ATI GPU but the HDD is smaller 320Gb instead of 500GB?

hey guys, so after installing a wireless mouse onto my toshiba laptop, all seemed fine. but suddenly after a couple of days, the touchpad didnt function properly and it also at certain moments, the keyboard disfunctioned as well.

i went onto device manager and found that there was a problem with the ALPS touchpad. wen i try and update the driver it comes up with a "code 10 error". even after uninstalling the wireless mouse the touchpad is still infunctionable.

ive read through alot of forums but none have been of great help, i tried system restoring my comp and opening at a date before installation but there was also a problem with the system restore as it couldnt due to error 0xc0000022.

my most recent attempt was to delete the ALPS touchpad driver and reinstall it. i downloaded the driver of the internet and tried to reinstall but it came up with the error code = 0x00000103 ---> a touchpad error.

atm im quite lost and in need of great help!!!

Something is screwed up, probably some registry entries.
Check please http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 and http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/how-to-fix-code-10-error/

Hi Guys,

I have recently had a problem with my laptop touchpad.

The small icon in the taskbar that shows the status of the touchpad indicates that the touchpad is being used even when it isn't.
It also some time does the same for the left click button.

I have tried changing settings in control panel and I've tried to update the driver (windows keeps telling me it up todate even though it isn't!).

Because the touchpad thinks it's being used it effects my LT's performance! Any clues guys.

Oh and Fn+F9 turns the TP off but the indication stays the same.

Hi,

Do you mean that only the small icon in taskbar shows wrong informations but everything is working properly? Well, in this case I would just remove the icon from taskbar. Open the touchpad software and disable the icon and that?s all!

Otherwise try updating the driver. Firstly uninstall the current version via device manager > Add/Remove programs. Restart your notebook and install the latest version from Toshiba website.

First at all, sorry for my bad English.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-A-153, the problem is his Touch pad, doesn't work correctly, the mouse doesn't move and when i move the finger on the pad, it seems like if i were rolling the bar "or the mouse wheel".

Sometimes, the "mouse" works correctly for a 20seconds, and after, again the same. External mouse works fine.

There's not the problem of "Fn" functions. I tried to shutdown, put off the battery and press the power button for 50seconds. I tried too to uninstall the Drivers from the Touchpad, and i think i have tried to change all the properties on the "Control Panel - Mouse".

Anybody can help me with that?

Hi all

I bought this brand new laptop in September. When using the mousepad I find that rather than the cursor always moving as expected, it sometimes magnifies the screen, I.e, it zooms. I have to press the escape button to make the cursor move again (after pinching the touchpad to bring the screen back to size). I thought maybe it was just me not being used to the touchpad but my wife says it annoys her too. I've hardly used the laptop so do you think it's faulty? Would this be covered by the warranty? It is very, very annoying.

Hi

You mean the touchpad does not work anymore?
Did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to recover the unit?

Are you using the latest BIOS?
Please check this and if newer BIOS if available, please update this?

Well, it could be also an hardware issue?
And in such case the touchpad must be replaced?

This is tricky and usually should be done by an ASP (service partner) in your country?

PS: the touchpad can be ordered also from a local ASP.

The touchpad, however, is not fully functional. The upgrade page said to use the Vista drivers, and did not provide any drivers for win7. The installation of the Vista drivers did not realy go so well.

Anyhow, the critical piece of functionality missing is that thing where you drag your finger up and down the right edge of the touchpad, and it scrolls for you. I can click and double click and move the cursor around. But I cannot scroll. And it is such a pain having to move the cursor all the way over to the application's scrollbar, with a widescreen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

If I understand you right you are missing these additional mouse settings. Am I right about that?
Which driver you have installed?
Synaptics driver maybe?

My touchpad doesnt work anymore. Windows 8.1.

New drivers can't be installed. ELAN: error message wrong touchpad. Synaptics: obviously empty zip file after download.

Any idea where I can get the working zip file?

Are there any function keys that enable/disable the touchpad?

Thanks for any hints!

Answer:Satellite Pro M30-701: TouchPad doesn't work after XP Pro installation

HI Jorge,

If you have re-installed your system using the Toshiba recovery discs then the touchpad should have the correct drivers and be fully functional. I seem to recall that it is possible to disable the touchpad using one of the 'hot-keys' (F9 on my SA30) so check that this has not been inadvertantly pressed.

Hello,

few days ago I noticed that my touchpad of my L300 does not work any more. I preferably work with USB mouse but need touchpad also. My System (Vista) tells that the touchpad is aktivated and is working. I have already deactivated and activated the touchpad again and I have also actualized the touchpad driver all that without any success.

Can anybody give an advice?

Thanks
Bertram

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work on Satellite L300

I rely on the touchpad as I don't use a mouse and in the few days that I have had my L350D I have experienced touchpad problems several times.

~The scroll function will suddenly stop working and, on some occasions the enter key on the keyboard will stop working too. However the left touchpad key continues to work.

Changing pages, starting a second browser window, or just changing to a new application can trigger this.

I can't be exact about remedy, but going into the touchpad control settings and changing them sometimes works as does restarting the laptop. Once having to leave it off for a while was necessary.

I don't feel that this is a problem with the laptop, so much as a problem with Vista, as I have experienced similar problems in the past with a High-Grade laptop, where the touchpad settings would seemigly take it upon themselves to change for no apparent reason.

I have problem with keyboard and touchpad. Laptop is Satellite A300-1G5

I have Vista home premium and when I power computer on, I must put password in user box then my keyboard and touchpad don't work.

In Bios my keyboard working but when Vista starts it does not.

How I solve this problem?

Thanks!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: Keyboard and touchpad do not work

Hi

First of all please check the device status in the device manager.
Please check if the keyboard and touchpad are listed correctly without any yellow exclamation marks.

But you should try to reinstall the drivers again even though the keyboard and the touchpad were recognized properly.
In this case I would recommend removing the keyboard and the touchpad from the device manager and then you should reboot the notebook once again.

After Vista has rebooted the both devices should be recognized again and should work.

Please check this!

Answer:Re: Satellite P205-S7469 TouchPad does not work

Hi

I have no clue why the touchpad does not work even you have installed the right drivers? did you?

Are you sure that the touchpad is not disabled? Usually you can disable the touchpad using the key combination FN+F9. Check it.

The Sat P205 is very similar to the Toshiba European model Sat P200.

Maybe you could download the both Touchpad drivers (Alps Electric and Synaptics) from the Toshiba European page? choose one of the P200 series and check the drivers!

Answer:Keyboard and Touchpad wont work on Satellite L

Hi

There are no many options which could solve this problem.
It can be a hardware problem or software related issue.

Can you use the internal keyboard within the BIOS?
Check this.
If this would not be possible, I assume the hardware is faulty.

Additionally I recommend testing the keyboard and touchpad using the factory settings.
Recover the notebook and check if the keyboard would functions?. Otherwise you will need an helps from an notebook technician in order to replace the keyboard and touchpad

Hi

Do you want to enable the touchpad or what? Please post more details

You can enable and disable the touchpad with the FN+F9
If you want to change some touchpad settings so I would recommend entering the Mouse option in the control panel.
There you could find the touchpad properties.
In the properties you should be able to find necessary touchpad settings.

Ok i have a Satellite L45 notebook and i need help.
The scrolling feature on the touchpad worked for awhile and now it won't work.

I've looked all through the computer and tried everything and nothing seems to work.
I don't really know too much about computers to begin with and no one else i know can help me.

My dad had the same problem with his computer but he said it seemed to work itself out.
Mine still hasn't and it's driving me insane.

If anyone could help it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Answer:Satellite L45: touchpad scrolling feature does not work

Hi

Did you check if the touchpad scroll function has been enabled and configured properly?
Before you would reinstall the touchpad driver I recommend checking these settings.

Do you know where to find these settings?
You can find it in

+Control panel -> mouse -> last tab (device settings) -> Settings button+

Here you should check the *Virtual Scrolling*

The icon on the taskbar shows that the right button is permanently pressed down, though it is not.
So I cannot right click at all. A radio mouse works fine, but there are times I would like to use the touch pad.

Also, the display will not turn off, and the computer does not go to sleep after the times set in the power saving options.
I listen to the radio a lot and dont want the display on.

Answer:Right button of Touchpad does not work on Satellite Pro L series

> The icon on the taskbar shows that the right button is permanently pressed down, though it is not.
> So I cannot right click at all. A radio mouse works fine, but there are times I would like to use the touch pad.

This could be related to faulty button. If you cannot use the right button and if button appears to be clicked down then I assume its hardware malfunction.
In such case it needs to be replaced.

> Also, the display will not turn off, and the computer does not go to sleep after the times set in the power saving options. I listen to the radio a lot and don?t want the display on.

Did you choose the right Power Plan? In control panel -> power options you should choose the power plan and should click on: Change plan settings. There you can change the time when the display should be disabled.
If it does not work, then I assume that this feature does not work because the touchpad button is pressed and the windows OS thinks that the notebook is in use

Same for me.
I have solved it by doing:
Went to the control panel (right click on the start button)
Goto the device manager
Goto the Mouse and ...
Right click and choose properties.
Click on OK
Computer asks for a reboot and after the reboot the mouse pad was working again.

Hi all i need help urgently because this is driving me crazy. First of all, i am using XP PRO. My laptop is fairly new, only about 4 months old, i've had no problem with it at all. I formatted my laptop yesterday and reinstalled all the drivers which i downloaded here:

http://www.isd.toshiba.com.au

and everything works fine except the touchpad. I've already installed Common Module, Touchpad On/Off utility and i have the latest BIOS installed and reset all settings to default, and i made sure that the touchpad option is enabled in the BIOS, as well as pressing FN+F9 to enable it during Windows.

I have installed the latest Synpatics touchpad driver which i downloaded from the Synaptics homepage. But for some reason it just doesn't work, i don't know what's wrong here. My touchpad worked before i formatted my laptop, it worked fine and never had any problem. Please tell me what's wrong because i need to use my touchpad sometimes as well so i can't use a mouse all the time.

I own a sattelite C870-13E computer since august.

Yesterday for no apparent reason, my touchpad stopped working. (no, I didn't turn it off)
Not really bothered by it, i kept working on my computer for several hours.
It then occurred to me it might be a little bug, so I decided to restart my computer.

When it turned back on, not only my touchpad didn't work, now nothing on my keyboard responded, not a single key. I updated drivers, bios, ran a virus scan, rolled back my computer to a few days earlier, nothing helped.

The strange thing is that the keyboard still responds when i hold the 0, F1 or F8 keys, as well as enter and arrow keys to get in the menus before windows starts up.

Using those, i used the toshiba recovery to set the computer back to factory settings.
Despite all that, keyboard and touchpad are still out.
I really don't understand, since it works during startup it can't be actual materialistic damage!

Now i'm getting frustrated cause i have no more solutions and typing with on-screen keyboard is really slow! =p

Any help?

Answer:Keyboard and touchpad don't work on Satellite C870-13E

Hi

I think it?s a hardware malfunction because you already tried the system recovery and the keyboard does not work even if using factory settings.

But it would be interesting to know if the USB external keyboard would functions. Can you test this? In my opinion if the external keyboard would works properly, then this would mean that your internal keyboard is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I?m wondering if the touchpad fault is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.

However, I think the warranty should be still valid if you purchased this unit in August. So get in contact with service and the guys should fix it free of charge!

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my touchpad and I've tried everything I'd be gratefull if someone here helped me...

My problem is that I can't left click with my touchpad, the button doesn't work neither does taping, although the right button works.

I on the internet when suddently it starte failling and draging everything i clicked, then it just stoped working.

Also I went to the mouse options and switched to left handed touchpad, and when I click with the right button the left button works, but then the right click (that's now on the left) won't work neither does tapping.

Answer:Touchpad left click does not work on Satellite L650

So this means that touchpad hardware (touchpad buttons) are ok.
You should check if new touchpad software/driver installation would help you to get rid of this annoying issue.

In device manager you should firstly remove the touchpad device. Reboot the notebook and then install the touchpad driver once again.

Before leave here an apology because I am Portuguese and my English level is very low.

My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L50 B 127
Lately I've noticed some anomalies that have arisen me on my computer (which should take about a year ) . When I talk about anomalies refer to keys you rarely use and at this point do not work ( example : left arrow , Z ... )
Besides that I notice that my touchpad is constantly blocking , ie after the buttons to work , the cursor does not move, being sometimes more than 20 seconds waiting for the cursor back to normal.

Has anyone had this problem or know the cause and solution? Grateful one as soon as possible reply

Hello everyone, I'm here to post my problem that has caused me a lot of problems and troubles and foremost apologize because throughout this text should come across several errors since my level of English is low
My computer is a toshiba satellite L50 B 127 and has just over one year of use

Lately I've found some anomalies in my computer including some keys that from one day to the other crashed , these keys are not that widely used ( left arrow , z , indent ) . In addition to this , my touchpad has been constantly block of minutes in minutes , even though the touchpad buttons work always , the truth is that the cursor block for a few seconds and then goes back to work as if nothing had happened . However within 10 minutes this situation occurred four times
I would appreciate if anyone knew the reason why this happens or even the solution to answer me as soon as possible

Hi,

The left click on my touchpad has stopped working. It works *very* occasionally but mostly it doesn't. It also freezes the screen if I try to click it too often (in a fit of temper usually ;) )

A USB mouse works fine, which is okay when I'm working on my desk but means I can no longer use my laptop on my lap! The tap click does work, but I don't like using it.

I reinstalled the drivers and that hasn't solved it. I turned the laptop upside down and gave it a good shake to get rid of any crumbs etc under the mouse and that hasn't solved it either.

Any other ideas?

Answer:Satellite C650D - left click on touchpad does not work

Hi

Could be possible that there is a mechanical problem with the touchpad button?
Pressing the button too often might lead to the system freezing because of the CPU stress and load.

In my opinion the touchpad board or the single button (if possible) should be replaced.

Hi

As you already mentioned, the VAP (value added package) controls these buttons.
So I think the new installation of VAP should help to get these buttons working again.
Not sure why this didn?t help in your case but I think you should try to reinstall this package once again.

Before installing the VAP, you should uninstall the old version.
Do that and clean the registry using other tool like CCleaner.
After that reboot the notebook and install the latest version of VAP.
I assume you are using the Win 7. So check and download the VAP released for newer Satellite A series.

It may be worth mentioning that I also cannot get my touchpad driver to register.

Many thanks.

Answer:Satellite 5200-802: Keyboard and touchpad dont work

Hi

Do you get an error message or do you have any bed signs on the screen?
Can you use the keyboard to access the BIOS?
If yes then the keyboard was recognized and works!

If you cannot use the keyboard running OS then I would recommend to delete the keyboard device from the device manager and to restart the notebook.
After new OS reboot the keyboard should be recognized again.

But I think that you will be not able to access the BIOS.
Due to the fact that the touchpad does not work too, I presume the hardware is faulty or there is no connection to the motherboard. Maybe a lose cable?

Maybe you should check this. But note; if you have no experience contact the notebook technicians. Bye

The whole story sounds unbelievable. Brand new notebook and keyboard is not working???
Install recovery image again and check if the situation is the same. If the problem persists contact your local dealer, explain the situation and ask for exchange.

I've installed Win Vista business on Satellite A110..
I've downloaded drivers of alps touchpad: drivers are installed, but it doesn't work!!
Is that a known issue? Have I done something wrong?
Thanks

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work under Vista - Satellite A110

Did you downloaded the correct drivers for your machine? Sometimes the machines seem to be similar, but then they have different hardware..

Had your touchpad a function before?

I have aan L300 Series Satellite. On booting up, the touchpad works fine until I get the desktop, whereupon the tap function ceases to work. The touchpad works to alllow me to move the mouse around the screen and the buttons work, yet the tapping function of the touchpad stops working once the machine has booted up (it seems to work for the first 30 seconds or so).

This happened recently but I cannot put my finger on exactly when.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and have tried Fn F9. Is this a Windows glitch, a Toshiba glitch or some other glitch?

Please help!?!

Brett

Answer:Re: Satellite L300 Series - Touchpad ceases to work

As you say before system boots ot works fine so it sound like a windows issue. Try to find you touchpad settings maybe tapping function is blocked? (or maybe is set to mode that only hard tap will work) check settigns

Hey,

I opened some time ago following thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=228228&#228228

I installed the driver. It worked for some time.

After a few restarts - the same error is back.

No scrolling (no matter with 1 or 2 fingers), or other special functions of the pad were more possible. :(

Can someone tell me why the problem occurs? And why again and again if I did it once fixed?
What can I do to ensure that the problem is solved for every time?

I hope, you can help me.. ;) Thanks!!

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work properly on Satellite A500

Hi

The touchpad special functions can be configured in the control panel -> mouse -> device settings -> settings button
There you can enable and disable all possible touchpad features like scrolling, tapping, etc?
Of course the touchpad driver has to be installed properly.

I don?t know why this happened again, but in most cases different updates (Microsoft updates) or other preinstalled software could cause this?

Hi,

I have this problem with my touchpad. I'm running Vista Business and have my touchpad drivers installed but the Fn key combination for turning it on/off doesn't work. It starts to work when I install value addes package but then my FN brightness key combination doesn't work

What can I do to make all of them work?

Answer:TouchPad On/Off FN button doesn't work on Satellite A200

You must install all stuff listed in ?Installations Instructions? document. Please install all stuff as listed in this document because installations order is very important.

You must understand that using FN keys combination you have influence on several different applications. Touchpad ON/OFF is separately application. ?Flash cards? is separately applications and part of Value Added Package.

Simply install all Toshiba tools and utilities and everything will be ok.

Hi,

this laptop Satellite L300D is not even a year old and it is giving me a heck of a lot of issues.

About 3 times a week the touchpad will just stop working (after going around crazy & clicking stuff on its own)
When I plug in a mouse it works.

Today the keyboard gave up, after a re-boot it will allow me to type in my password but after that its dead.

Please help.

Answer:Satellite L300D touchpad and keyboard wont work at all

Did you install mouse drivers for your external mouse? Sometimes they can cause problems with the internal touchpad.

Otherwise you should send the laptop to an Authorized Service Partner to get it repaired under warranty.

Brand new Satellite L50-C03E laptop- touchpad doesn't work. Upgraded to Windows 10. Tried using all combinations of F5, FN & F5, swiping and checking settings and nothing works.

Answer:Satellite L50 - after Win10 upgrade touchpad doesn't work

I guess you can use the external USB mouse.
Connect it to the notebook and uninstall the old touchpad software / driver from the Windows 10 system. You should find it in Control Panel → Programs and Features.

After the touchpad driver has been removed, reboot the notebook and check for Win 10 updates.

It would be very interesting to know if this workaround would help you to get the touchpad working again.

Hi all, i have some problems with my FN keys, my touchpad doesnt work anymore, in addition to this, when I push the FN key, I dont see any icon on the top of screen.. Two days ago all of this was working properly.. An error is given by the program called Tossiba assist, its written exactly so: this system cant use accesibility.. Could you please help about this problem?
My operation system is Windows vista 32 bit (service pack 1)

Finally, sorry for my English, if I make any mistakes, it is not my native language..

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite A350-212 - touchpad doesnt work anymore

Try to restart flash cards.
Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash Cards

After doing this press FN button several times to see if Flash Cards are shown on the top of the screen again.
If you will see Flash Cards again use FN+F9 key combination to enable touch pad again.

Hi,

My daughter's Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 has developed a couple of faults.

Firstly, the keyboard displays random characters such as a stuck key would. eg, if in Google or Wordpad the system will at random type a single character over and over again even when no key is pressed. Occasionally it will also open windows or programs as if the 'enter' key has been pressed, or cycle through desktop icons.

Secondly, the touchpad is non-responsive and cursor operation isn't possible from the touchpad or buttons. I don't know if the two are related.

She assures me she hasn't spilled anything on the laptop, so any help would be appreciated to rectify these faults.

Thanks,
Brian

Answer:Satellite A100 - Keyboard and Touchpad don't work properly

Hi

Can you notice the same issue with external input devices?

If not it?s time for an authorized service provider. I think the keyboard and touchpad must be replaced and the technicians can help you.

On the Toshiba website you can find a list of authorized service provider.

Good luck! :)

My right button does not work.
When clicking on icon on desktop, the drop down menu does not open and when working in some programs (Indesign).
Also, sometimes even the touchpad doesn't work.

Rebooting only helps for a little bit.
I have the Synatpics 11.2.4.0 driver installed.
Is there any thing else I can do besides sending it to be repaired.

I just got this laptop 3 weeks ago and I hate Vista.

Answer:Touchpad and right button does not work on Satellite L300 with Vista

Hi

I don?t think this could be a hardware problem.
You should try firstly to update the touchpad driver.

Firstly remove the touchpad driver from the system.
Then visit the Toshiba European driver page and download the newest touchpad driver and install it.

PS: if you are using an external mouse and have installed any mouse tools/drivers then this could also affect the touchpad functionality.

Hello everybody.

I need some help with my A200-1HV. The problem is, that my touchpad does'nt work:( I use polish Windows Vista Home premium, and I have uninstaled some programs form the system, that were'nt usefull for me.
After this, touchpad stopped working. I have drivers for it and in system it looks that the touchpad should be working, but it does not. I am not sure which programs I have unistaled, but for sure it was config free (but I have instaled it afterwards and it still does'nt work).

Maybe some of you will know, which programs from the system are needed for touchpad to work, beside drivers.
I would be very greatfull for any ideas.

Answer:Satellite A200-1HV: Touchpad doesn’t work after removing of some programs

Hi

I don?t see any connection between the ConfigFree and the touchpad so in my opinion the touchpad should work without installed ConfigFree!!!
I presume you have removed or changed anything else.

However, except the touchpad driver reinstallation I would recommend checking if the touchpad functionality was not disabled. You can enable and disable the touchpad using the FN+F9 keys.

If it does not help to enable the touchpad I would recommend using the system restore tool and to roll back the OS to the early point (before you have removed the programs).
Usually this should helps.

Check it!
Best regards

Hi everybody!

I have changed Windows and now something is wrong with Touchpad. It works only as a mouse (cursor moves, right and left buttons are also ok).

Before with Vista I had email button, wireless connection, something else and sound changing, and plus it had extra blue light. Now these buttons are not active and no etrxa light.

Laptop Satellite A210.

I've tried all possible drivers already but maybe you could advice me something else.

thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite W30T-A378 - touchpad and the keyboard doesn't work

Hi

I assume that you checked if the tablet has been connected properly to the keyboard docking.

Did you try to disconnect and connect the docking again?
Note: there is a release latch on the left which you have to move and hold in order to remove the tablet.

Maybe there is some connection problem.

Hello,

I am using a Satellite Pro S500-139 and am having problems with my F9 key. When i type my palm touches the mouse and send the cursor somewhere else on the page. I have reinstalled the ALPS pointing device and now have access to the advanced setting that i wasn't able to get.

Although i can adjust the sensitivity etc i would really like to be able to use the shortcut to disable the mouse momentarily whilst typing. My keyboard shows that if i press fn and F9 the i should be able to disable the mouse however the function doesnt work. all the other F9 functions appear to work.

Do you know if there is a resolution to this?

I am running windows 7 pro 32 bit service pack 1.

Answer:Satellite Pro S500-139 - FN+F9 button doesnt work to turn touchpad off

What you can try is to reinstall Toshiba value added package.

In order to Reset the notebook (doing recovery) you?ve got two:
- Recovery disk (or flash memory)
- HDD recovery

What procedure did you try and how?
