Preferred Solution: Keyboard and Touchpad wont work on Satellite L

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Keyboard and Touchpad wont work on Satellite L

Hi

There are no many options which could solve this problem.
It can be a hardware problem or software related issue.

Can you use the internal keyboard within the BIOS?
Check this.
If this would not be possible, I assume the hardware is faulty.

Additionally I recommend testing the keyboard and touchpad using the factory settings.
Recover the notebook and check if the keyboard would functions?. Otherwise you will need an helps from an notebook technician in order to replace the keyboard and touchpad

Hi,

this laptop Satellite L300D is not even a year old and it is giving me a heck of a lot of issues.

About 3 times a week the touchpad will just stop working (after going around crazy & clicking stuff on its own)
When I plug in a mouse it works.

Today the keyboard gave up, after a re-boot it will allow me to type in my password but after that its dead.

Please help.

Answer:Satellite L300D touchpad and keyboard wont work at all

Did you install mouse drivers for your external mouse? Sometimes they can cause problems with the internal touchpad.

Otherwise you should send the laptop to an Authorized Service Partner to get it repaired under warranty.

On my laptop Satellite L20 not working keyboard and touchpad, but keyboard work in BIOS, USB-ports also not working (USB mouse).

Can i get update file for BIOS(traditional updating from boot CD, not OS!)

Sorry for my bad English.

Answer:Satellite L20 keyboard & touchpad not working but keyboard work in BIOS

If the traditional BIOS update is not available on the download page the only way to get it is to contact nearest authorized service provider. They have all versions.

But this keyboard and mouse issue is really strange. can you use it if you start operating system in ?safe mode??

Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A80-154

The Keyboard doesn?t work.
I see the light but no key worked. The same with the touchpad.
I can?t go into the Bios.

When I plug a USB mice and keyboard in works fine.
I search for a new one in Ebay. The cheapest offer 24$+6$!

I see in the Windows system the keyboard and touchpad with a !
I don?t know what the problem is but it is not a Windows prob.
it doesn?t work either in Bios.

Thank you for Help

Answer:Satellite A80-154 - Keyboard and Touchpad don't work

Hi

It looks like a hardware problem.
If the warranty is valid you could contact the ASP in your country for a hardware check.

If the warranty is not valid you could firstly check if the keyboard cable was connected to the motherboard properly.
If it?s connected properly then a keyboard malfunction is possible and it would be advisable to check if a replacement would help to solve this issue.

The compatible parts can be ordered also from the ASP in your country.

I have problem with keyboard and touchpad. Laptop is Satellite A300-1G5

I have Vista home premium and when I power computer on, I must put password in user box then my keyboard and touchpad don't work.

In Bios my keyboard working but when Vista starts it does not.

How I solve this problem?

Thanks!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: Keyboard and touchpad do not work

Hi

First of all please check the device status in the device manager.
Please check if the keyboard and touchpad are listed correctly without any yellow exclamation marks.

But you should try to reinstall the drivers again even though the keyboard and the touchpad were recognized properly.
In this case I would recommend removing the keyboard and the touchpad from the device manager and then you should reboot the notebook once again.

After Vista has rebooted the both devices should be recognized again and should work.

Please check this!

I own a sattelite C870-13E computer since august.

Yesterday for no apparent reason, my touchpad stopped working. (no, I didn't turn it off)
Not really bothered by it, i kept working on my computer for several hours.
It then occurred to me it might be a little bug, so I decided to restart my computer.

When it turned back on, not only my touchpad didn't work, now nothing on my keyboard responded, not a single key. I updated drivers, bios, ran a virus scan, rolled back my computer to a few days earlier, nothing helped.

The strange thing is that the keyboard still responds when i hold the 0, F1 or F8 keys, as well as enter and arrow keys to get in the menus before windows starts up.

Using those, i used the toshiba recovery to set the computer back to factory settings.
Despite all that, keyboard and touchpad are still out.
I really don't understand, since it works during startup it can't be actual materialistic damage!

Now i'm getting frustrated cause i have no more solutions and typing with on-screen keyboard is really slow! =p

Any help?

Answer:Keyboard and touchpad don't work on Satellite C870-13E

Hi

I think it?s a hardware malfunction because you already tried the system recovery and the keyboard does not work even if using factory settings.

But it would be interesting to know if the USB external keyboard would functions. Can you test this? In my opinion if the external keyboard would works properly, then this would mean that your internal keyboard is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I?m wondering if the touchpad fault is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.

However, I think the warranty should be still valid if you purchased this unit in August. So get in contact with service and the guys should fix it free of charge!

Hello everyone!
I have just bought new Satellite Pro L850 with windows 7 64bit on recovery partition.
I have a big problem cause internal keybord doesn't work under the windows. Under the bios i can do everything i want. But from windows first configuration ( i cant even set computer name and user name) , keyboard doesnt work. I have clean windows version ( with toschiba programs - recovery partition).

It seems that is not a hardware problem cause under the bios keybord working.

Extra i have update the bios to newest version 6.50, but didnt notice any change.

Please help me with this issue, cause i dont have any more idea what to do now.

Install recovery image again and check if the situation is the same. If the problem persists contact your local dealer, explain the situation and ask for exchange.

Hi everyone.

I was hoping someone could help me with a problem I'm having with my Satellite 5200-802. The Keyboard will not work evn though it shows in device manager and report it as working fine. I have updated the BIOS and tried a lot of other basic stuff so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It may be worth mentioning that I also cannot get my touchpad driver to register.

Many thanks.

Answer:Satellite 5200-802: Keyboard and touchpad dont work

Hi

Do you get an error message or do you have any bed signs on the screen?
Can you use the keyboard to access the BIOS?
If yes then the keyboard was recognized and works!

If you cannot use the keyboard running OS then I would recommend to delete the keyboard device from the device manager and to restart the notebook.
After new OS reboot the keyboard should be recognized again.

But I think that you will be not able to access the BIOS.
Due to the fact that the touchpad does not work too, I presume the hardware is faulty or there is no connection to the motherboard. Maybe a lose cable?

Maybe you should check this. But note; if you have no experience contact the notebook technicians. Bye

Hi,

My daughter's Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 has developed a couple of faults.

Firstly, the keyboard displays random characters such as a stuck key would. eg, if in Google or Wordpad the system will at random type a single character over and over again even when no key is pressed. Occasionally it will also open windows or programs as if the 'enter' key has been pressed, or cycle through desktop icons.

Secondly, the touchpad is non-responsive and cursor operation isn't possible from the touchpad or buttons. I don't know if the two are related.

She assures me she hasn't spilled anything on the laptop, so any help would be appreciated to rectify these faults.

Thanks,
Brian

Answer:Satellite A100 - Keyboard and Touchpad don't work properly

Hi

Can you notice the same issue with external input devices?

If not it?s time for an authorized service provider. I think the keyboard and touchpad must be replaced and the technicians can help you.

On the Toshiba website you can find a list of authorized service provider.

Good luck! :)

Hi

I assume that you checked if the tablet has been connected properly to the keyboard docking.

Did you try to disconnect and connect the docking again?
Note: there is a release latch on the left which you have to move and hold in order to remove the tablet.

Maybe there is some connection problem.

I have a A100/ Pro A100 series Satelite laptop, what ever all that means.
Anyway, when turning the laptop on and asked for a password I am unable to put in numbers.
It appears the whole number row, including backspace are not working.

I can use mouse to highlight and delete but that leaves a character mark in the password area.
Other buttons work except the number row.

If I need to connect an external keyboard to check where to I connect it(if I can)?
Any assistance would be great.

Can I change the keyboard myself?

My satellite pro C850 1HE keyboard intermittently stops working properly and starts opening programs e.g pressing F will open file search, C opens computer that sort of thing

is there a permanent fix to this problem?

its not anything to do with programs installed nor is it anything to do with browser settings.
restarting the computer works for a short time but is time consuming this is really annoying as i use this for work and study!

Answer:Satellite Pro C850 keyboard wont work properly and opens multiple programs

> is there a permanent fix to this problem?

The question is what causes this problem? Is it hardware related or software related issue?

Why you don?t connect an external USB keyboard just to check if the same would happen?

In case the USB keyboard would work fine, I would assume that the internal keyboard malfunctions? and the solution would be an simple replacement of faulty part.

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

You may be able to fix this by minimizing the Palm Checker of the mouse settings .

The path would be :

I already have the issue that when I put my E5570 to sleep and wake it up again that the keyboard and touchpad do not work. So I have disable the sleep options in the BIOS.
Now I run into different issues.Yesterday I booted the laptop and it hang on the DELL logo, After a while it stated that my EFI file would not be correct. Force reboot and it booted straight to Windows.
What's more annoying is the fact that the laptop boot, the DELL logo is shown and then the screens go's black, as if it's not connected. SO it looks like it hangs.BUT an external monitor through HDMI does work and show the windows logon. The keyboard and touchpad also do not work.External mouse and keyboard do work.
So pretty much I got a brick when I do not have external display/keyboard and mouse available.
When I reboot the laptop it works fine again.Am I the only one with this?Loads of issues with the laptop and wondering if I just have a faulty laptop...

Answer:Latitude E5570 - Black display, no resons to keyboard/touchpad - External display/keyboard/mouse do work

I have been spending a lot of hours in troubleshooting this week.
Diagnostics are 100% ok.
Reinstalled Windows 10 about 15 times.Installing drivers by hands, installing drives trhough the dell update management application. The issues keeps existing.
To sum the them up:- Cold boot (laptop is off) to Windows. Keyboard/Touchpad do not work. (Reboot and they work again)- Resume from sleep. Keyboard/Touchpad do not work. (Reboot and the work again)
After I got the laptop I installed 32Gb of RAM and an 512Gb Samsung 950Pro PCIE M.2 NVME drive. The drive should be support as Dell states on the product page and in the manual that PCIE with NVME is supported.
"Advanced features, like industry-leading M.2 SATA and M.2 PCIe/NVME solid state drives, provide data transfer speeds up to 4x faster over traditional hard drivers. "
In order to get the drive visible and running on PCIe I had to disable the sata controller in the BIOS.This way the drive is detected in Windows as an PCIe NVME capable drive.
Just to verify if the issues I went back to default with the delivered 256Gb M.2 sata drive and 8Gb RAM.To install Windows I had to turn the Sata controller back on.
Installed the drivers manually updated WIndows and tested. The issues do NOT occur.
Retested by installing the drivers using the Dell Update Application. The issues do NOT occur.
So I figured out that the SATA controller somehow is the guilty part for all the issues.I mean when enabled to ACHI or RAID the sleep and non... Read more

Hey everyone! I just got a new Edge 15 yesterday (this is the Best Buy exclusive one, and it's more expensive of the two options available), but I'm having an issue with it that's really preventing me from enjoying using the machine, and it's incredibly frustrating! Whenever I press keys on the keyboard and go to use the touchpad together with it, the touchpad freezes/delays for a number of seconds. It makes it incredibly difficult to play any kind of casual game or just browse the web. I've spent a long time looking up solutions, but none of them have helped at all. This Lenovo uses the Alps driver and while it has palm tracking, turning it down to minimum doesn't fix the problem, neither does going through windows 8.1 and choosing the option to have no delay in the mouse/touchpad settings there. I have no idea what to do to fix this problem, if anyone could help that'd be amazing!

I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere. I have Satellite a105-s2194. The keyboard and touch pad stopped working after I edited my registry to fix my dvd burner. I've tried a usb mouse. It shows up but also doesn't work.I can't do a system restore without a working mouse or keyboard so I'm kind of stuck.
I checked the BIOS and everything is as it should be. Keyboard works in BIOS and system utilities menus.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank!

Answer:Satellite keyboard/touchpad unresponsive

BIOS provides USB support before Windows starts which is why it works in BIOS but not Windows.

I suggest the best place to start is recovering your files/folders. You can probably just skip to Step 2 for your case See How to recover your folders/files when Windows won?t boot

Then you can comfortably try fixing your computer (which might need a full reformat/reinstall)

A couple days ago, my keyboard and touchpad mouse stopped working. I thought it was a hardware issue and ordered a replacement keyboard. As for the touchpad, I'm just using a wireless mouse. I replaced the keyboard a couple days later with the new one, and when I turned on my laptop, it works again, but when I put my laptop to sleep and wake it up, I hit enter, and then it stops working. I cannot type anything until I restart my computer. I figured it has to do something with the drivers, but I'm not too sure. Here is my computer specs:

Product: HP Pavilion dv9700
Model: dv9925nr
Windows 7 home premium 64bit

I've gone to the HP website to get the drivers, but they do not support windows 7 for my computer.

Hello everyone. I have one big problem. I reinstalled my 8.1 pro (legal copy, disk been fully formatted) and it was okay for few hours. Next time im starting the laptop, my keyboard and touchpad doesnt work. I plugged USB mouse and keyboard and it works just fine. I went to device manager and besides Standart PS/2 keyboard and mouse icons there was orange triangle meaning that i have problem with drivers. I searched drivers online, but unsuccsessily.. After few hours of trying to fix it, my Standart PS/2 Keyboard turned into Unknown device and now im completely lost. Adding photo of device manager, i hope someone will help me here.

Answer:8.1 pro laptop keyboard and touchpad doesnt work

Since we do not know the make and model of your laptop.
Should try the laptop manufacturer's website to see if you can find the drivers for this. Does look like there missing.

What does it tell you when you right click the ones with yellow exclamation points ?

You can right click and select update driver software, either search automatically or browse your computer, select signed driver from the list is shows you.

*************** SOLVED *************Hi there !   I really need your help this is very concerning. My PC is an Ideapad 100S-14IBR. While I was typing some text in college, my hardware (touchpad and keyboard) stopped responding and the text editor kept on writing the last key I pressed, as if kept it pressed. Not concerned, I just hard rebooted because I was stuck. This hasn't solved the issue, both my touchpad and keyboard are still unresponsive. When booting, pressing F12 to acces boot menu doesn't work either (used to work). The keyboard isn't even recognised in boot... this makes me think the problem is a lot more serious thant what I thought At home, I did a complete reinstall of the system with a USB keyboard and mouse plugged after saving my works. My mom has a Acer 5102. The touchpad and keyboard don't work on the laptop. I tried plugging in a mouse to the USB and that didn't work either. All I want to do is back up my files to an external hard drive but I can't do it without a keyboard or the touchpad. I tried doing FN + F7, and FN + F6, and even FN + F7 + ALT. I heard those key combinations work, but it didn't in my case. Also, she said at first the OS wouldn't boot for a couple days, but now it boots but the keyboard and touchpad doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem could be?wee

Answer:ACER Keyboard and touchpad doesn't work

Try http://www.laptoprepair101.com for a good desciption on how to disassemble a laptop.Be VERY careful when disassembling. They are fragile and the connections are short. The ribbon cable under the keyboard might be the problem although the USB connections are integrated on the motherboard and with your earlier problems might point to that as the cause.

Sometimes when I start up my computer, more often than not, when it brings me to my logon screen, I can't use the touchpad or the keyboard at all.  I have to physically touch the screen to let me put my pin in.  Still, neither work, so I end up shutting down and restarting, sometimes more than once, before the touchpad and keyboard start to work again.  I've had this problem for a couple of years now, have been in touch with support, and have also uninstalled and reinstalled my keyboard.  My warranty just expired of course.  I'm ready to throw this computer out of a window.

Ever since I've upgraded my dad's laptop to Windows 10, the keyboard and touchpad stop working randomly, and would work only after I restart the computer. (logging off, switch user, standby mode doesn't resolve it.)
There is no pattern to it. Sometimes it would be ok for a few days, sometimes it would happen again after a few hours. I mostly do internet browsing on the laptop.

When the problem occurred:
- The keyboard AND the touchpad would both stop working at the same time.
- USB mouse still works. (I do not have an external keyboard to test)
- The lights on the keys themselves (eg caps lock, wifi) would still remain on if they're activated but cannot be toggled on/off as usual.
- The device manager still showed no problems with the mouse or keyboard.

Things I've tried:
- sfc /scannow
- disabled sticky keys
- used the generic drivers for keyboard and touchpad
- reinstalled the drivers for keyboard and touchpad
- updated to the latest synaptics driver
- made a new synaptics trackpad profile
- disabled touchpad when using the USB mouse

Laptop stats:
HP Pavillion dm1-4002AU
Windows 10 Home 64bit (upgraded from Win7 and then reset to a fresh state)
AMD Radeon HD 6230 Graphics
6GB RAM
Synaptics Driver Version: 19.0.12.95 06Jul15
Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad
Lenovo ThinkPad PS/2 keyboard

This is very exasperating. I would appreciate some help in stopping this problem permanently, thanks.

hi ! when i press a letter on the keyboard the touchpad stops working. i tried with palmcheck option but the problem remains. i have ELAN software and everything seems updated (according to windows update and lenovo softwares). in touchpad settings i found the option about the mouse block during digitation, but it doesn'twork. can someone help me?

Answer:z 50 75 pressing keyboard touchpad doesn't work

I have the same problem with a Y50-70 and ELAN Touchpad/driver too. It has been sold to me as a gaming Laptop and now one major functionality you need for gaming doesn't work - what a mess. I spend hours in the Internet reading hundreds of articles from people with the same issue.1. Solution: Disable the Palmcheck function but unfortunately the ELAN SW doesn' provide this option.2. Solution: Change the Touchpad sensibility (some say max, some min) - neither works with the ELAN driver.3. Solution: Go into the Registry (regedit) and change parameter (DisableWhenType_Enable and DisableWhenType_DelayTime_Move in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPad\), to 0 with Regedit. Didn't work for me too. 4. Solution: Uninstall the ELAN driver qnd let Windows install a generic PS2 one during re-boot. This finally did it for me, however you are losing all the additional functionality of your Touchpad and can onlwy move the cursor plus right/left click. No zoom; no scroll, no multiple finger functionality anymore. So be it, I bought the Laptop for Gaming. I'm pretty disappointed about this but hope there will be better driver coming out soon.

Hi,

Last week I received my brand new Toshiba C70-B-21C. After windows updates, the touchpad does not work anymore. My mouse does. I tried the options FN F5 and FN F9, but no result. Also dowloading the driver on toshiba site has no effect.

Restarting several times, and also deleting the touchpad from system settings do not help. The touchpad works in the first screen, but after entering my username and password, it stucks.

What to do now?

Now when I disconnect the mouse pointer disappears from the screen.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Answer:Satellite L50-B-24C - touchpad does not work

Hi

I guess your notebook supports ELAN touchpad driver.
I read in other thread that in the past an ELAN touchpad driver update caused some problems and the touchpad did not work properly…

Therefore I would recommend you to uninstall the ELAN touchpad driver from the system.
After that, reboot the notebook and check if the touchpad would work again…

In case the touchpad would work, download the ELAN touchpad driver from the Toshiba driver page and install it again.

Hi,

I have a lots of problems with my Satellite A300D-11S (for Adriatic region).

I have Windows 7 Ultimate with installed all drivers from Toshiba site. Everything works perfectly .... but..

When I first time power-on notebook, graphic driver cannot initialize, keyboard doesn't work, and touchpad is froozen. In this situation I can use external USB mouse and keyboard, Internet (WLAN,LAN), Sound. When I reebot the system, Windows 7 loads and works perfectly and I can work 3-4 hours. After turning off notebook and power-on after 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 6 hours, problem is still present again :(

Then I reinstalled all system from zero, use newest drivers update and problems is still present. I tried this 3 times, but I havent got idea what to do. Sometimes when I close lid of my notebook, and later when resuming from stand-by touchpad and keyboard are frozen.

Notebook have warranty but last time, service replaced mainboard and Cpu. Maybe notebook is defective?

Thnx, and sorry about gramatic errors

For me it sounds like that just the internal input devices (keyboard and touchpad) don?t work anymore and they should be replaced.
What do you think about this?

You can contact your authorized service provider. They can exchange both parts for you.
Check this!!!

Regarding your display driver issue you should update the driver and install latest BIOS version.

In an attempt to get the FN key working again, I installed the latest 'Flash Cards Support Utility', which has made the problem considerably worse. No keys on the keyboard work (there is still power going to it, as the number lock light is lit) and the touchpad doesn't respond either, along with its buttons.

I'm guessing it was something to do with what i just installed but i don't really know where to start. I have a usb mouse and a spare keyboard so am able to use the laptop but would be very grateful for any help fixing it.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite C660 - Keyboard and Touchpad failing

Before we start the discussion one question: do you have problem with FN keys only or you cannot use whole keyboard?
What is with touchpad? Is touchpad maybe disabled? Have you installed Synaptics touchpad driver?
It is really not easy to say what is going on there but maybe you should install recovery image and test functionality with ?factory settings?. I mean with clean OS installation everything should be OK. If not there must be some hardware problem.

Windows VISTA clean installation - touchpad & keyboard half of the time are working half of the time not. I'm sure it's not a driver problem (if it's not working device manager says there was problem with device..) . I've already tried 5 different drivers..
I am facing issue from the time i bought it.. I thought there might be problem with OS, today i installed UBANTU but facing same issue (Mouse pad stops working after some time) with this OS tooo.. I am sure that its problem with Hardware not with OS or any driver..

Can please any one tell is there any solution for this...

I have Satellite A300-1LI and it is also PASG8E but I didn?t notice any problems with touchpad or keyboard. At the beginning I used it with original Vista image but about a year now I use WXP and Win7 as dual boot. No problems at all.

If you have noticed this strange problem from the first day why you didn?t contacted Toshiba service and asked for help?
I can imagine there is some hardware problem but I don?t know what do you want to do alone about it. do you want to exchange keyboard or touchpad alone.

Keyboard replacement is not a big deal but touchpad.....

I have a Toshiba A300 and I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bits

My English is very bad but I hope you understand me and can help me.

Greetings!

Answer:Satellite A300 - touchpad and keyboard problem

According to your message you have to reboot the notebook in order to get the keyboard and touchpad working properly.
Possibly there is something wrong with the drivers for keyboard and touchpad?
As a first idea I would recommend to refresh the OS.
This means that you should check if a new OS installation could solve this problem.

Keyboard driver is a part of the windows OS so I think this should be checked.

Satellite C660-28H

Win7 64bit

antivirus Kaskpersky deleted "system32/driver/cekbfilter.sys" file for keylogger reason (Kaspersky Support said It is mistake of Kaspersky antivirus, file is not virus or virused), and after I restart OS I find keyboard and touchpad not working at all.

Also I already asked about this at [US Toshiba Forum|http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Keyboards-Touchpads/satellite-c660-cekbfilter-sys-deleted-and-no-keyboard/td-p/364673] and there was advise to ask here too

I can not use Windows recovery (do not have recovery point) , and I do not want to do full recovery to factory default - there are many soft and personal data stored.

So Is here way to recover drivers? As I already said at US Toshiba Forum - I already tryed delete touch pad driver and instal from Synaptic official website, and I not changed anything.

Also I think antivirus may delete not only file, but do some fixes to remove "wrone" driver

Answer:Re: Satellite C660 - keyboard and touchpad are not working

Huh it is very stupid situation now. I never had such problems but it will be interesting to find solution to this.

Have you tried to connect external mouse, just to see if this can work? I mean it is much easier to use windows with mouse and choose different options.

If this works try to open device manager and properties for keyboard. There you can find option for driver update. Check if some driver update can be found. Fact is that keyboard uses standard Microsoft driver so f you are online maybe some driver can be found.

Of course best and easiest solution for you is recovery installation. If you don?t want to do this try to find right drivers using such driver update option.

One more thing: if you have so important stuff saved on HDD you can remove it from your notebook and connect it to other PC/notebook as external device and make backup. After doing this you can install recovery image and problem is solved.

Hi,

my touchpad stopped functioning properly half a year ago. Additionally it blocks my keyboard as well. If I go to sleep mode then start the notebook again then the keyboard starts functioning but not the touchpad. Then at some days touchpad comes back to life and works for a while perfectly.

Also, the notebook has started to heat up recently, especially around the touchpad's place.

I have my drivers installed so I guess that it should not be a problem. What can be?

Thanks.

Hi buddy,

Maybe you should update the touchpad driver. You can download driver updates on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

There you should find a newer version of touchpad driver.

Regarding the keyboard it would be interesting to know if the same happens with an external one. Can you test this please?

Hey peeps, how are we all?

I have a funny problem here. the touchpad and keyboard do not work in windows or the BIOS, if I reboot the computer the same happens whether its just on battery or through the mains.

If I take the battery out then replace it and reboot the keyboard and mouse will work absolutely fine until I reboot it next (unless i remove the battery again).

Is there something that gets reset that would stop the touchpad and keyboard working?

Thanks alot,

James.

Answer:Satellite Pro L40 Keyboard + Touchpad inop after reboot

That?s a strange issue.
Did you try to update the BIOS? Check if you use the latest version and update it if a newer version is available.

Generally it?s not easy to say what could cause this issue?
To be honest I never heard about a similar issue?

So check if an BIOS update will help to sort this out? if not I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country for a solution!

Hi,
I have a Satellite A660-133, when I use the keyboard or the touchpad I can hear many vibrations from the case of the laptop. I think it is not normal but actually the same model showed in shop does the same. What do you think about it?

Is there anybody who has this model and who is able to tell me what is his experience about that?

thanks!

Answer:Satellite A660-133 - Vibrations when I use the keyboard or touchpad

Hi davmat,

I?m not Satellite A660 owner but friend of me has one. He never told me about such a problem expect that?s a great notebook with powerful hardware and he love the design. I must agree with him that?s a great notebook from Toshiba!

Anyway, if you think it?s not normal you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can check this problem and maybe you need a new keyboard but this can be exchanged under warranty.

You can find a list of ASPs here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Find an authorized service provider

Good luck! :)

Hi

I have just baught my GF a refurbed Toshiba laptop for her 21st birthday from a reliable source, its a Satellite Pro L300.

I started it up did all the setup stuff it told me to only to find that the touchpad and keyboard will not work AT ALL.
The keyboard caps lock key doesn't even light up when I press it,
I've downloaded all the latest drivers for EVERYTHING inc. the touchpad, this has made no difference,

I'm running out of ideas fast and coming to terms with the fact that the keyboard and touchpad might be faulty and as a result ill have to give my GF a faulty laptop for hewr 21st, not happy :(

Does any1 have any ideas?

Thanks :)

Edit: OK, very odd, right after i sent this message i tried the keyboard one more time and it works fine?
Could it be something 2 do with the downloading of the VAP package?

The touch pad is still knackered even when i try the fn + f9 combo?

2nd Edit: Ok now the keyboard has stopped working again!

WHAT ON EARTH!?

Answer:Satellite Pro L300 - Keyboard and touchpad issues

Hi

Looks like a keyboard issue?. who knows why it doesn?t work? looks like something would be wrong?
I recommend visiting your dealer and asking for replacement?
Otherwise you could contact the ASP in your country for a fix?

I think this is everything what you could do?

Good luck

The laptop is just over 1 year old and has been working ok until recently.

First symptoms were keyboard and touchpad not working at windows 8 login page. Pressing power to put laptop in sleep and pressing again often got them working.

This progressed to the keyboard and touchpad not working at random points whilst using the laptop.

Finally blanked the HDD and restored windows 8 alone, the laptop still BSOD's fairly frequently - refuses to install updates required for 8.1 and the keyboard and mouse often do not work even in the BIOS setup page. I have reseated the RAM and HDD.

Running out of ideas, the keyboard and touchpad do work and so I would assume that their connections are OK - but frequently they just stop.

Any ideas appreciated?

Thanks

Ok,

I can't seem to find a way of fixing this or the cause of the problem.

Here it is:

I haven't had the laptop for that long and already thinking it is a terrible thing. When I start my laptop there is like a 70% chance of the keyboard not starting (this is up until it gets to the windows login) then around a 15% chance the touch pad wont start. If the touchpad wont start then I just shut down the whole laptop and start again but there is a chance with the laptop that if I use the on screen keyboard to login then the keyboard will start working again. (around 80% chance) I am getting sick of it.

I probably should have written this in code.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Note: I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling and rollback the drivers, even searching for the most current.

Thanks,
Emz

After I updated the drivers of my keyboard and touchpad they wont respond or freze when the xp boot screen appears.
Oh and it works before that.

What can I do ?

Answer:Satellite A10-S177 touchpad and keyboard don't respond

Hi

Sorry mate but I don?t understand how you have updated the keyboard driver?
The keyboard driver is a part of the Windows OS so it cannot be updated manually?

Check if you can boot in safe mode.
Press F8 and then choose safe mode. Then you can try to reverse the OS back to the early time point before the OS has been muddled up.

Evening AllMy computer must have realised I was looking up component parts to build a new PC because it seems to have gone off in a huff and stopped working.I was doing some photo editing in Adobe Bridge, it froze, so I rebooted. When I rebooted, I decided to install a copy of Lightroom that I had because Bridge had frozen a couple of times lately. Anyway, during the install process, my PC made the beep that it normally makes during boot up, then it flickered and restarted itself. When it got to the screen that gives you the option to begin in Safe Mode, I couldn't because my keyboard had stopped working. When it timed out and tried to open normally, a blue screen flashed (I couldn't read what it said) and it rebooted. I've tried Del and checked the settings in there, but don't really know what I'm looking for, but the keyboard let me move around in the menus. Came out of there and the keyboard wouldn't work at the Safe Mode screen again. Rebooted again, this time, tried F9 which is the Xpress Recovery menu, but again, the keyboard wouldn't let me do anything. Although, not sure I wanted to choose anything from that menu anyway.I've had similar issues happen in the past, but have always been able to access windows in safe mode and use a restore point.I've searched for variations of this problem on here, but there's so many different situations I thought I'd just post again. Apologies if I've missed the answer somewhere else.Would appreciate any help or shoving in the right di... Read more

Hello, The left button on my Synaptics Touchpad doesn't work when I'm pressing a key on the keyboard. Initially, I thought it was a PalmCheck problem, but that feature was already disabled. The right click works fine and so does the touchpad itself. The only problem is the left button. I tried reinstalling an updated driver, but that didn't fix the problem. I tried the generic Synaptics driver and both the HP Windows 8 and 8.1 versions. They all worked fine for all touchpad functions except for the left button which still doesn't work when I'm pressing a keyboard key. I tried using a wireless mouse and the left click worked fine so the problem is only with the touchpad.

Same thing for me too, and I really want it fixed. I'm using an HP Pavillion Windows 8.1 Laptop, and using the same TouchPad as you. Kudos for you!

I have HP Pavilion DM1 4003AU notebook. Since last 2-3 weeks the notebook gets excessive heat and due to this reason or any other reason the keyboard and touchpad stops working. When I plug the USB mouse then the mouse works. Another problem is the bluetooth hardware is not found while installing the bluetooth driver.
Due to above reason I changed the operating system two times and install all the HP recommended drivers and softwares but still the problem is same.
So please tell me the suitable way to resolve these problems as soon as possible.

Hey all, I've recently (3 weeks ago orsomething) bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite l670-143.
Windows 7 64bit
Intel? Core? i5-430M Processor
: 2.26 / 2.53 Turbo GHz
2nd level cache : 3 MB
4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon? HD 5650

But this last week ive been experiencing keyboard problems. The problem is not always present, but when its present it doesnt matter wether im gaming, browsing the internet or writing a document.
Im not 100% sure what the problem is, I've spent hours trying to figure it out and to fix it, but nothing seems to help. But when I press a P, I sometimes get ppp. Or when I press a P, it doesnt show up. This is with all keys. And especially when I'm typing fast. Also, when I hold the backspace button, it ''lags(for a split second)'' every 2 seconds orso. When the problem is not present, holding the backspace button is smooth.

I did loads of virusscans, and did all the registercleanups etc. I made sure that sticky keys and filterkeys are disabled. I checked all the drivers for updates. When i tried the http://keyliner.blogspot.com/2009/11/windows-7-slow-keyboard-response.html nr.1 fix, it did go away when I rebooted. but the next day the problem came back and when I redid it, (did what he said + delete the file and create it again) it didnt fix the problem. Perhaps it was just random luck, I dont know. I disabled the laptop battery to see if it went better, it didnt.
I'm not sure what else ive tried too..

Answer:Satellite L670-143 - Keyboard lags but external keyboard work

Hello

To be honest if an external keyboard works properly I think it?s a hardware malfunction and related to internal keyboard. I doubt it?s a virus or something else because the same error would happen on external keyboard as well.

Furthermore for keyboard there is no special driver, it?s a part of Windows so you can?t update the keyboard driver.

Now in your case I would contact nearest authorized service provider. Your notebook is only 3 weeks old so it?s under warranty. If you contact the ASP, they can check the notebook and if you need a new keyboard, the repair is for free. :)

Don't know if anyone can help me out but i recently bought a P50-A laptop and i am having issues with the touch-pad.

Basically what is happening is that every now and then my touch-pad randomly locks itself and then wont allow me to unlock and will unlock once I have reset the laptop.

I have checked the drivers and everything appears to be working fine and there appears to be no hardware conflicts.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Answer:Touchpad randomly locks itself and wont unlock on Satellite P50-A

Hi

Have you noticed this behaviour from the first day? Can you enable/disable (lock/unlock) touchpad using F5 (FN+F5)?

Something went drasticaly wrong yesterday. I wasn't doing anything elborate, just working in excel and I got tired of the touch pad and 'connected' an infrared mouse that I occassionally use...it wasn't working too well, low battery level I assumed, so I reverted to the touch pad....but the touch pad was now for some reason not working at all and hasn't done since.......

turning the laptop off and on was my solution but it hasn't rectified the situation...the infra red mouse is working fine though with new batteries.......on top of this, now when I turn the laptop off, it shutdowns but then automatically starts up again, at which point a microsoft message appears saying that the computer has recovered from a serious error.

So since this episode, the touch pad won't work and the computer wont stay turned off! And it may be me going mad, but some of the keys on the keyboard are no longer as responsive as they once were.

It was an Equium and was only purchased in early January.

If anyone can help I would much appreciate it.

Thanks

Answer:Touchpad wont work and Equium automatically restarts after shutdown

Might be an issue some drivers can solve. Go to your Toshiba website and download all quickfix drivers. As well as the toucpad driver if it is there. Try hitting fn+f9 as well to see if that reactivates the mousepad.

If not, try a clean install of the system after backing up all data and it should fix the problem. If it does not, chances are you have a hardware fault and need to take the laptop to your ASP.

Good luck with this.

After installing Synaptics touchpad with Scrybe workflow technologies, I found there is not much use for Scrybe gesture technology on a Windows 7 machine. For those new to it, read our review and video tutorial on Synaptic Scrybe at Windows Club.
I could see that Windows 7 considered it two different items as the Add/Remove Features was showing Synaptics touchpad driver as a separate entry than that of Synaptics Scrybe. I removed the latter, keeping the touchpad driver. That particular session was fine and I assumed all set. But whenever I boot from cold state or even a reboot, I found the touchpad was not working properly. It will not provide me with my settings for: edgemotion, coasting, or even gliding and bounce. Even the speed I set up under mouse of control panel was not functional. Normally, I keep the speed at maximum to save on effort and then, one of my time saving option: Automatically goto default button or something like that so that the pointer is already at default buttons while working.
Reinstalling Scrybe would mean keeping another program in the memory already hogged by Outlook and Tweetdeck kind of programs. Tried to reinstall the driver only without Scrybe but it dint happen as I got error messages each time I tried - saying my touchpad was not compatible.
Weird that when I opened control panel, mouse, the touchpad would work properly, with all my preferred settings. That meant something was stopping Windows 7 from loading my preferences. I simply check... Read more

Hi, I really hope somebody can help because this is driving me nuts. I've been all over Google and Bing and I can only find solutions for issues that are the exact opposite of the problem I am having. Whenever I disconnect from a power supply, the touchpad and USB mouse stop working. I can get them to work again by 'clicking' but a few seconds later - gone. By plugging the supply back in, it's like the issue never happened... Until I unplug again, of course. Does anybody have any ideas? - it's the Ideapad 100s Thank you in advance

I have a Satellite P300D -131 with Windows 7 64 Bit. The touchpad does not work at all.

Activating with Fn + F9 has no effect. The device manager tells me that the device is working.
Who knows the reason? Could be a driver problem.

Where can I get an appropriate driver? I have already searched the software download center of Toshiba without success.

Answer:Satellite P300D - touchpad does not work

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer some precise diagnostic so answer to your question can be just speculation about possible reasons.

In your posting it is not clear since when you have this problem.

I have installed Win7 64bit on several P300 notebooks and everything was ok.
Since when you have this problem? I cannot imagine touchpad doesn?t work all the time since when you use Win7.

Interesting is that I?ve saw that Windows update offers Synaptics driver update listed as optional update. Have you maybe installed it?

Have you installed touchpad driver from Toshiba download page? If yes, have you tried to remove it and test functionality?

Does touchpad works in safe mode?
Open mouse properties and check if device is enabled/disabled?

Hello,

I've a Satellite L 505-13N and installed windows 8.1.
While a lot of shortcut keys (screen, lock, sound etc) work properly, I can't control the touch-pad.

Initially in Windows 8.1 where drivers for touch-pad (Synaptics PS/2) installed.
Device manager shows that the device is installed and works properly but it doesn't.

I've found and installed the driver package "Synaptics_v15_2_20_C_XP64_Vista64_Win7-64_Signed_Marketing_SGS94_UI-Scrybe" but I still cannot use the device..

I've seen already that my device is not supported for windows 8 (I wonder why??)
but I would be grateful if anybody could propose an idea for waking it up..

Greetings
Argi

Answer:Satellite L505-13N - touchpad does not work in Win 8.1

The installed Synaptics driver package does not seem to be compatible with Win 8.1.
In the description it say clearly: Vista 64bit, Win7 64bit

Maybe you should simply try to install the Synaptics touchpad driver which was released for other, newer notebook models. Newer notebook series supports Win 8.1 and in my opinion there is a good chance to get the touchpad working using the Win 8.1 driver version.
