Preferred Solution: Satellite L755-144 BIOS update - 404 file not found

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptob was working great but i just found a bios update in toshiba site.
I updated it and had an error then i restarted but my laptob did not start up.
The power light is on and/the fan is spinning but the scrren is off.

Please help me fixing the bios.
My laptob is sattellite l755-16l

How Can i reflash the bios in this case ?

Answer:Satellite L755 died after a Bios update

Hi

I?m afraid something went wrong during the BIOS update.
The BIOS update procedure is a sensitive process and possibly the Rom module has not been flashed properly.

In your case there is only one real solution; you need to get in contact with local Toshiba ASP. The guys should check the motherboard and should try to reflash the BIOS using the BIOS crisis disk.

Answer:Bios update alert for Satellite L755 19X Win 7 64bit

BIOS / CMOS updates aren't to be taken for granted and not to be blindly installed as Firefox update or AntiVirus definition.

I don't have enough time or the patience to explain why flashing the system is riskier than the other Microsoft updates you're accustomed to clicking and accepting since your overly trustful manner is evident and your entire question underscores a typical recalcitrance that has to be dispelled for you after you brick your box into a state of scrap metal.

Whether you already know it or need to find out for yourself, a bricked system from a failed CMOS flashing is usually deigned end user abuse and your warranty is normally voided, you have no reason to accept the words of a stranger on the forum you posted your question on, but google or search this forum for any term like "FAILED bios Upgrade" and the bad stories are long and varied but the solution is typical when the owner find out their box is ruined.

Don't bother replying why or explaining what prompted you to seek the CMOS upgrade since it just underscores your determination to defend your aspiration and as uninteresting to me as the insignificant joyhood of a student driver until they manage to get close enough to actually harm me.

Bios upgrade for L755-128 (PSK30E) was never released. Current BIOS is 1.90.
Is it safe to upgrade to 2.70 from L755-12D (PSK2YE)? Very same laptop except added blue-ray drive.

Answer:Satellite L755-128 (PSK30E): Can I use BIOS for L755 PSK2YE?

Do not use BIOS for other notebook model.

If the newer BIOS is not released that means probably that there was no reason for that.

Do you have some problems with your notebook? I mean what should be reason for BIOS update?

Hello.

So yesterday I got a pop-up message from Toshiba to update my BIOS, so I clicked on it and it started updating but then it said "verification error".

So I closed it, cause I had to restart my computer after a previous update with another program and I thought of trying to update the BIOS after restarting.

But once it restarted it switched off, so I tried switching it back on but the screen is black, the lights are all on(power, batt etc) and the fan is working as well. I tried taking battery out and in again but still black screen.

Could someone please tell me what you think it could be and what I should do.

I also tried with an hdmi plug but it won't recognise it.

Thank you for your help

Answer:Satellite L755-S5349 - BIOS update failed - black screen

Hi

I think I?ve got bad news for you.
For me it looks like the BIOS update has failed?
Why? Who knows? maybe some applications which running in the background affected the BIOS update process.

I updated the BIOS on my notebook last evening?everything went smoothly. I downloaded firstly the BIOS package from the Toshiba page. Then unzipped the folder.
I closed all applications which were running like firewall, antivirus software etc?
Then I performed the BIOS update?

Anyway? in cases where BIOS update has failed, you need to get in contact with an local Toshiba ASP in order to fix this? in best case they need to update the ROM module again?

Good luck

Hello!

I'll set password on BIOS and forgot it. Call me plz ID jumper for reset BIOS.

Answer:How reset BIOS on Satellite L755-16P?

Hi

BIOS security is very important security feature that allows notebook owner to protect his notebook and saved data. Please don't be mad on me but you cannot expect that BIOS password removal technique will be described on public forum that belongs to notebook manufacturer.

Usually if the notebook user is faced with such problem must contact nearest authorized service provider and ask for help.
At first it must be proved if the notebook belongs to you and then BIOS password can be removed.

Thanks in advance.

BIOS password is stored in the special BIOS ROM area and cannot be removed if you don?t know the password.

Dear Toshiba support,
I'm performing some maintenance on my Satellite L755-1C3 notebook.

While downloading / performing various updates,
I downloaded 3.60 Bios published on Toshiba support forum, which seemed to be the latest one.

Instead, Bios installed on my notebook was 3.90 version.
Once I started the BIOS update I didn't get warning messages, and 3.90 has been overwritten by 3.60 (older one).

Somebody could please tell me where is possible to download real latest 3.90 bios version of my Notebook?
I had it installed, how is it possibile that I'm not able to find it anywhere?!

Thanks

Hello

I have a Satelite L755-129 and i have the windows 8.1 update version in my laptop. I want to open bios of my computer and i can't do it?

What is going on? Also i can't find it from the recovery panel of windows. F2 key and F12 doesn't work, when i press it, the laptop starts bip bip and is booting into windows.
Can someone help me? I don't want windows 7 i like windows 8.1.

Thank you for your help

Answer:Satellite L755-129 and Win8.1 - cannot access BIOS settings

It is really good that you have posted this question. Until now on this forum many people asked the same questions but all of them have had originally new Win8 machines.
Now we have situation with old Win7 machine but with preinstalled Win8.

Solution for other people was to perform complete shutdown and after doing this it was possible to enter into BIOS settings. Check please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm

This situation is not known to me so here is one question for you:
When you start your notebook I presume you can see Toshiba welcome screen. Is option with F2 shown on the bottom of the screen?

Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this issue - I have a toshiba L755 laptop, and was setting up the security protocols on the bios but was unable to set up the supervisor password.

I registered the user password, as well as the hdd password - both user and master passwords worked for the hdd password, but when I try to select (by pressing the down arrow from the user password on the bios password section) the supervisor password, it just skips over it.

Please, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Unable to set supervisor password on Satellite L755 BIOS

Have you tried to set supervisor password using option in ?Toshiba Assist? > secure > Supervisor password? It is small Toshiba utility designed for supervisor password registration.

Whilst updating the BIOS the system froze at step 7 of replacing the BIOS code, needless to say the laptop will not boot as the BIOS is now corrupt.

I have the BIOS.BAK but need advice on how to restore the BIOS. I copied the BIOS.BAK to a usb stick and plugged this into the laptop and then powered on the system (I've tried holding down F, F2 and together). I can see that the usb stick flickers initially but clearly does not progress with the restore.

I hope someone might be able to advise how to use the BIOS.BAK file to restore the BIOS.

Hi

As far as I know the BIOS package downloaded from the Toshiba US driver page contains the WinRAR 32-bit self-extracting ZIP file which includes both Windows-based and diskette based BIOS update installation options.

Did you try to update the BIOS using Win-based BIOS?

What OS do you use?

Hi everyone,
I just received from Tempro the advice that there is a new driver for my dvd unit,
this is the link to download it.

Point is the description says 'it provides you the capability to play back Blu-ray discs' and this would be great but I've got a Satellite L755-1DW mounting only a dvd unit and not bluray one so I don't think this is possible, isn't it?

I've tried installing it but after extracting the software autokills itself without even displaying an error message.

Help?

Thanks,
best regards,
Beatrice.

No, this is not possible so, generally speaking this firmware update is not necessary.

Unfortunately all versions of the BIOS available from Lenovo's site have a bug that doesn't play well with linux. The workaround is to turn OFF USB 3.0 in the BIOS settings. (You can still use the USB ports, just not as USB 3.0.)

Here's a posting with more links if you would like to learn more.

As for updating the BIOS, maybe one could get the updater to work using FreeDOS bootable image, or more likely a linux image with WINE on it... ?

On my new E540 I "cheated" by keeping Windows 7 cluttering up my hard drive for awhile. I have booted Windows only twice, and I NEVER let it connect to the Internet, but I downloaded the .exe version of the BIOS updater and ran it from a USB stick. (It runs as a Windows software installer, which is odd to me.)

Answer:Re: E540 bios update to 2.17 fails, the system program file was not found

The non-stop fan is killing me (and the fan itself obviously). I had bios 1.58 and I tried to update to the latest 2.17 (bootable CD) but in the update program I got: ErrorThe system program file was not found on the CD. Insert the correct CD in the drive. I tried to set bios defaults and everything and burned new CD.. nothing. I tried to make gradual upgrade by upgrading to 2.07 and some others but they just booted to some weird DOS like environment. No bonus. Finally I ended up trying 2.16 bootable CD and it worked!... but I need the latest. Tried to download the .iso again, burned and same problem. Any help? How others have got this done? I run Linux Mint 17.1 but it should not make difference.

Hi everyone, hi Amy_Lenovo, I have a Lenovo Edge E531 and it has this annoying fan issue (once it startet, it won't stop anymore). Although the latest BIOS update won't fix this issue (according to changelog) I wanted to upgrade to the latest release (1.29). As I use a Linux OS I cannot use the Windows based BIOS installer. Therefore I choose the .ISO file to create a bootable BIOS upgrade CD as I did it many times before. But an error message appears when starting the BIOS upgrade in the CD menu:  ErrorThe system program file was not found on the CD. I already re-downloaded the file and used a different CD-RW but it didn't resolve the issue. BUT: The same error existed already with BIOS version 2.17 for E540 model!!! Answer:BIOS problem - 0167: No processor BIOS update found

This is a very odd outcome to a BIOs update. Did you upgrade the processor at anytime? (Your machine should contain a Core 2 Duo Processor E6550)Did you update the BIOs through the operating system? If so I would download the "Flash BIOS update (CD ISO image version) " (The 3rd file down in the list of available BIOs updates for your machine) and re-flash your BIOs from the CD. Flashing the BIOs from within Windows has a history of erratic behavior.

Hi there again!

Now with a new and weird matter.

We all know that old say... "If it is not break, don't fix it". And if you put it into more informatic terms, "specially if it is a BIOS".

Yes, we all know that the BIOS is something quite dellitate to handle. For some reason we normally feel like if we were handling something like nitro-glycerine, or some radioactive product. And this is because we all know what is being put in risk in that moment: our (or sometimes others) computer, the full system could end as dead as some pieces of metal, plastic, and wires.

Well. I passed through all of that more than ten times in my life, and only once it went wrong. But since that old motherboard was already dead, It was not important. But I allways was EXTREMELY care. I allways cross checked everything before doing anything, allways got a backup and a way to restore that backup... and allways did this in COMPAQ systems, that were prepared that way. Updating a BIOS was just about preparing a disk, turn on the PC with the disk in the diskette drive, and wait. And if you didn't like the results, you simply click "return to previus BIOS" and that was it... very nice. And easy.

Few days ago, a friend brought me a Toshiba Satellite 1410-604 to solve some issues that were driving him crazy. After removing an expired Norton Internet Security, install avast and scan, I found more than one hundred files infected with a wide variety of virus, malware, t... Read more

Answer:Satellite 1410-604 - BIOS update > Incorrect BIOS update in the web?

Hi Fenix,

wow... it tooked very long time to read your post....

Maybe I can help you.

The Bios in the Web is the right one. So you have downloaded the correct version of the Bios.

The Askiris you have used is from Toshiba America which has most times not the exact models as Toshiba Europe.
That should be the reason, why the readme does not contain the European modelname.

I would try to make a fresh Bios update using the traditional Bios update.

Copy the files to the diskette, put it into the FDD, press and hold the Tab key while power on the notebook.
After the notebook has shut down, press and hold the key on the left side of the space-bar while power on the notebook again and wait until it powers off again.

If your notebook does not power on anymore, maybe the RAM is defect?

So, if the use of the traditional Bios and/or changing the memory does not help and your notebook is still dead you should go to an ASP, but this will cost money.

I have my fourth Toshiba notebook now and I had never problems with the Bios updates.

The 1410 is very old I think, so before going to an ASP, I would buy a new one ;)

best regards,

Good afternoon ,

My problem is I have a Toshiba L500 - 246 to that for oblivion , put a password on Windows 7 and now can not remember .

I decided to start from scratch and remove the entire computer. I clean the fan, I put thermal paste to the processor and graphics, and decided to delete all partitions and create a single .
Wanting to boot from the DVD, I went to the BIOS to change the boot BOOT, and on the first screen I get the following message: "HDD / SSD Not Installed ". I changed various settings in the BIOS, but still the same.

When I enter the Windows 7 DVD, you read me well until the window that says it needs the disk controller, and in that window I do not see any disk. I tried it with two SATA disks, and I get the same message.

Putting his ear to the hard disk when the disk starts the laptop makes the characteristic sound of light, but still not leaving anything in the BIOS.

Now, entering the browser to find the driver , I get the following:

An X Boot Disk: 30 MB of capacity

The USB flash drive appears as drive me C :

And finally, I get the CD as drive D :

Why might this be?
Why do I get the USB as a disk C ?

Thanks and regards

Answer:Satellite L500-246 - HDD not found in BIOS

Your posting is really confusing.

First of all it would be useful to know if the HDD or SSD drive is listed in the BIOS (first BIOS page)
If its listed, the HDD is OK and you follow with system installation
If its NOT listed, you should replace the HDD

Lets assume, the HDD is OK and you started the installation.
During the Windows setup you will be asked to add the SATA controller.

On the Toshiba EU driver page you will find the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
This driver contains the SATA files which you could add during the Windows installation.

Hope this helps

Hello

My last BIOS update has failed and now my laptop Satellite PrU400 PSU45E is out of order.
I want to use the Crisis Recovery Disk with an USB floppy drive but I don't know the key combination to run the boot-block.
Is anybody can help me?

Best regards

Answer:Satellite Pro U400 BIOS update failed - What is BIOS Boot-block access

Hi

I wondering what Crisis Recovery Disk do you have ?:|
In my experience the special disk is needed which is available only for ASP technician.
Therefore it?s necessary to contact the ASP in your country in order to reflash the BIOS.

In my opinion you shouldn?t not try any ?Crisis Recovery disks? which you fond in the net? this can lead to mobo damage?

Well, I have used the BIOS updater listed on the drivers/bios updates section of Toshiba website, on Windows vista x64 and offcourse I have used the x64 executable.
Strangely, when I reboot it, it requests a bios password that I have never inserted. So I suppose the update inserted a password automatically. Now I can't boot from any device so I cant use the laptop.

What do you have to say about this?

Answer:After Vista x64 BIOS update Satellite A200-1KB PSAE6 requests BIOS password

Hello MC

Have you founded some answers? Nobody offered here real explanation what can be wrong there. Have you maybe contacted authorized service partner in your country. They have contact with Toshiba and I am pretty sure they can help you about that.

If you will find out something regarding this password issue please let us know.

Hi All ! Excuse my poor english because i'm french.

A friend gives me his Notebook (a Satellite 4090CDS exactly) because he had a probleme.
In fact, the problem is that when I switch on the computer, i have one and only one message(not even the red toshiba logo) which is "Ready for BIOS update. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive, and press any key when ready to proceed."

So I go on french toshiba website, in the BIOS download, i find that i have to download this update: http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/bios/satellite/4030-4060-100/bios_820.zip

Ok, i download and unzip it to a diskette and i boot the notebook with the disjette, it said that the update was made successfully and automatically reboot.
This time, the red toshiba logo appears, but next i have a black screen with a message:

**** Bad check sum (CMOS) ****
Check system. Then press [F1] key.

And after that, i can't do anything, not even press F1. If i reboot the notebook, i meet myself one more time with the first message "Ready for BIOS update..." and it is still and still the same.

If anyone could help me to understand what is the problem, it would be very nice.
Thanks.

Bastien.

Answer:Satellite 4090 BIOS issue - "Ready for BIOS update..." message appears

It sounds as if your CMOS chip has a problem. It?s possible that the CMOS battery has failed and your BIOS settings are being lost.
Maybe the RTC battery is empty. In this case you should plug the AC adaptor to charge the RTC battery.
Please note that the RTC battery (CMOS battery) will charge after the notebook main battery was fully charged. In this case the charging procedure could take several hours.

But if after this long charging procedure this message appears again so I assume the battery is dead.
I suggest you contact your nearest ASP to get your notebook checked.

Hi

Like a complete idiot I upgraded my bios (to 1.80) for Satellite A30 (PSA30E). I've noticed two problems.

a) during boot I no longer get any welcome screen, and cannot access the bios or boot from other devices - so if I want to boot from CD now I can't - e.g. impossible to reinstall OS in the future

b) the battery suddenly wasn't fully charged and hangs persistently on 99% (apparently)

c) who knows what else could be going wrong

I'd dearly love to undo what I've done, but it doesn't seem possible. How on earth do I fix this, since clearly the bios update is flawed. Can I find an earlier bios update file (and how to use it)? Can I fix this one?

Anyone any thoughts?

David

Answer:Bios update Satellite A30 - can't access bios and no full charge light

Hi

Firstly may to ask why you have updated the BIOS. If everything works the BIOS update is not necessary.

Ok, how did you try to access the BIOS? Usually the F2 button should be pressed immediately after notebook starting. You can try to press several times.

But you can boot from ODD on different ways. You can press C button and the notebook will activate the booting from the drive or you will press F12 and you will choose the ODD as booting source.

I don?t know why the battery power freezes at 99% but you could try to remove the battery and wait several times. Then connect it again and check the battery status.

Hello, I have updatet BIOS of my notebook sattelite A100.

After updating I cannot start my notebook and BIOS doesn't start.

Answer:Satellite A100 - Windows and BIOS doesn't start after BIOS update

Do you see the Toshiba logo?

Was there a power failure when you updated the BIOS?

Try removing the battery and AC Adapter, and leaving it for a couple of hours. You could also try reseating the RAM.

If that doesn't help, you may need to send it to an Authorized Service Center for repair.

Toshiba 5205 - Serviceman / Call Bios - Need some help.

I flashed my bio's and the laptop locked up in windows and didn't shut off after the flash.

Now when I turn the laptop on, I get no picture and the front of the laptop has a remote lcd display that says: Serviceman / Call BIOS.

I have already remove the laptop's battery and let it sit a full day to killthe bios, but I get the same error and still no picture.

How can I fix this? The bio's should be dead by now. Am just using the ac-power pack for power. I tryed plugging the battery pack back in and I have also put the bio's battery back in. and I get the samething error message on the remote lcd.

There must be a way to get around this, if anyone knows please let me know.

Answer:Satellite 5205 - After Bios update - Serviceman / Call Bios message

Hi Jim,

Unfortunately removing the battery will not reset your BIOS. The BIOS is maintained by a separate battery on your motherboard (the CMOS or RTC battery) and you will need to dismantle your notebook to access this battery. Even removing the CMOS battery will not reset your BIOS since it will be held in a non-volatile area of the CMOS chip.

You will need to take your notebook to a Toshiba Authorised Service Agent to have the chip reflashed with a new BIOS.

There are different notebook models which are part of the Satellite L750 series and there are different notebook models which are part of the Satellite L755 series.
Each notebook model (L750-xxx or L755-xxx) is equipped with different hardware parts.
In many case the hardware specifications are very similar but there are still small differences like different CPU, LAN or WLan card?

Hi

I'm having trouble flashing my bios.
I have a Satellite Pro L40-15A.

The Toshiba winflash tool that comes with the bios file tells me that the 'Old BIOS can't recognise EEPROM'

I was recommended to use AFUDOS on another forum but that tells me the bios has an invalid boot block.

AMI flas for dos tells me the flash rom is write-protected??? There is no option in bios to disable it and I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to put a hardware Bios protect jumper on a laptop.

Please help

Thx

Hi all! I've been trying to find a solution to this problem for awhile and am hoping someone here might have an idea. I already talked to Dell and the were of very little help!

I have a Dell Studio Laptop, running Win7 64bit.

My CD/DVD drive/burner is frequently "lost" when I try to use it. I first noticed it when I tried to eject a CD one time and got no response from the eject button. When I checked "Computer" it didn't show the drive at all. I had used the drive about 30 mins earlier and it was fine. Dell Support had me update BIOS and it worked okay.

However, the same thing happened the next day. I updated the BIOS again (it stated I already had the BIOS's most updated version, but I went thru with it anyway). The drive was found again and all was okay. BUT, it continues to happen. If I go to use the drive after being on the computer for awhile, the drive can't be found and doesn't detect CD/DVD's that are in it. A reboot doesn't help, but if I go thru the whole BIOS update again, I am okay, but only for a little while.

One thing that may or may not have contributed to this is the upgrade to Win 64bit from Vista 64bit. Although the drive worked for a while after I did the upgrade, I never had the problem when I still had Vista.

Any ideas of what I could try next!? Thanks SO much!!

Hi, i just bought an Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no memory settings.
If i look at the ram using a system info tool (cpuz or aida320) it shows that it is not running at the advertised speed of 667mhz but at 533mhz.

As you can see from this screenshot the actual speed the memory is running at is lower than the maximum the sticks are rated at.

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4580/cpuz1pj5.jpg

Its running at 266mhz (533mhz ddr) when it should be running at 333mhz (667mhz ddr).

I've also noticed that with this laptop the fan never seems to come on, is there a way to turn the fan up?
Everytime i have the laptop on for longer than 30 minutes it becomes very very hot.

Answer:Satellite Pro L40: Bios update needed - no settings for RAM in 1.90 Bios

Hi

> if i look at the ram using a system info tool (cpuz or aida320) it shows that it is not running at the advertised speed of 667mhz but at 533mhz.

What is your FSB?
If the notebook was equipped with the PC2-5300 memory modules then they could run at 667 MHz but only if the FSB would supports 667 MHz! I think the FSB supports only 533Mhz.
So I can say it?s nothing wrong!

> i just bought an Satellite Pro L40 laptop and im trying to figure out why the bios has no memory settings.
Why do you think that an BIOS update would enable the memory settings in the BIOS?
Please don?t mix the desktops with notebooks! The notebooks cannot be overclocked!
The notebooks BIOS is not the same like a desktop PC BIOS!!!

> I've also noticed that with this laptop the fan never seems to come on, is there a way to turn the fan up? Everytime i have the laptop on for longer than 30 minutes it becomes very very hot.
Did you notice any automatically shut downs or any other strange notebook behaviors like OS freezing for example?
If not then the notebook runs properly and doesn?t overheat.
The notebooks support an overheating protection which would shut down the notebook automatically to prevent the hardware from damage?

So lean back dude and enjoy your nice toy ;)

Does the BIOS update flash the BIOS or does this require a different file. I updated a Satellite A60 BIOS to 1.9 but am not sure if this flashed the BIOS as well.

If not where could I get a file to flash the BIOS for a satellite A60-106?

The BIOS update flashes the ROM module. I don?t know what version was installed before the BIOS update but if after the upgrade a new BIOS version appears then the procedure was successful.

The right BIOS and how to update the BIOS information you can find on the Toshiba page.

First of all Toshiba Support team is not here in the forum? its user to user forum.
Secondly the win-based BIOS can be updated only running Windows OS? the best would be the usage of the Toshiba preinstalled Windows version in order to run BIOS update.

By the way; I found BIOS versions on Toshiba US page? there you can download the traditional BIOS which can be updated using diskette.

HI,

I have toshiba satellite l755 with default os windows 7.
But i installed xp also on my laptop and i cant find drivers for xp.....

plz help where i can get drivers for xp..???

Answer:Satellite L755 - Need Win XP drivers!

There are many options to install drivers: search & install individual driver (this is my choice) or download driver pack (e.g. from guru3d.com) - it is simplest way.

Generally all you have to do - google vendor & product ID of unknown device (see http://www.pc-erfahrung.de/fileadmin/artikel-windows/anleitungen/geraetemanager-unbekanntes-geraet/geraetemanager02.PNG).

Recommended order of installation:
1. Chipset software (I hope Intel is your choice?) then reboot.
2. Network controllers.
3. SP3 and updates (if it is not installed earlier).
4. Other devices - video, audio, touchpad etc.

It's hard to find drivers for AMD or Nvidia video controllers - usually drivers are branded by supplier (Acer/Toshiba/etc) and are not on amd/nvidia sites. In such case you have to do a little of magic to modify drivers.

Some links for russian forums (use google translate)

For more detailed answer please give more detailed info about your laptop model.

Answer:HDD upgrade on Satellite L755

In worst case the BIOS will not be able to recognize the HDD…
But I think it should not be a big problem to use the 2TB HDD because the SATA controller does not support such limitation…

So from my point of few you should be able to use the 2.5” SATA 2TB HDD…

but please post some feedback after the HDD has been installed… it would be interesting to know how the HDD functions…

Hi,

Thx for help

Answer:CPU upgrade on Satellite L755-11W

Hi

I think this would be possible since the chip handles the i7 too.
But as far as I know no one of the notebook manufacturers supports such upgrade officially?
What does this mean now??

This means that you do that you own risk and in some cases the BIOS would not be compatible. So in worst case the new CPU would not work even if the chipset would handle this?

By the way: such upgrade cancels the warranty.

The Turbo boost is already disabled and I'm using a cooling pad... already blowed some dry air to clean some dust.
If I open it, I'll be out of warranty and I can't send it to warranty...
Are there some diagnostics tools from Toshiba?

Answer:Satellite L755-1GH - Fan Noise, always on

You can reduce fan activity if you change option in ?cooling method? settings.

Open power profile that you use and go to advanced power settings.
There you will find ?Toshiba power saver? options and ?cooling method?.

Change it to battery optimized.

Please do it and post some feedback.

A 1-day-old Satellite L755-144 has a constant whirring sound and vibration across the front half of the laptop body. I thought this could be the fan, but it happens even when the Toshiba PC Health Monitor states that the fan is at 0%, and when the computer is idle (no windows open).

How much noise should this machine make when idle (I'm finding it distracting)?

Answer:Satellite L755-144 - HDD noise?

Hi buddy,

Are you sure that the noise is coming from HDD? You can test this if you remove the HDD and start your notebook without one.

Generally speaking the HDD always creates a little bit noise because the platters of HDD spins up and this is causing noise. Also the head is doing this is data will be read or write.

So a little bit noise is normal but nobody can tell you if everything is ok with your notebook or not. It?s just an user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you are not sure and want an official answer contact an authorized service provider and ask for help.

By the way: On my Toshiba notebook I can only hear the HDD if I put my ears on the case.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-140 laptop with win7 32bit OS. Suddenly the sound is not working but the driver is installed and up to date along with chipset driver the volume speaker icon shows that there is a sound indication but no sound is out from it....

What do you think is going on ... could it be the speakers it self
Please advise ASAP

Have you noticed the same problem when you connect headphones?
Please test it.

You can also use ?Toshiba diagnostic tool? to check speakers functionality.

Hi Sirs;

After I update my laptop Toshiba Satellite L755 to Windows 8.1 and when I press FN+F8 to off or on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth it is not working.

I removed VAP then system driver and then functions key utility and re installing it not Success to turn of,

please any advice?

Answer:Satellite L755 - after Win 8.1 upgrade cannot use FN+F8

Windows 8.1 does NOT support the Value Added Package anymore!
The VAP was released for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Upgrade

Notebooks which were preinstalled with Win 8 do not contain VAP anymore!

But the Satellite L755 does not seem to be Win 8.1 supported.
So you will be lucky man if you will get these function buttons working.

I can recommend you to check the Win 8.1 driver released for Satellite L855 series.
Install the Toshiba Function Key Utility and Toshiba System Driver
Maybe it would help?

The laptop does not complete POST, neither on AC or Battery after the recent Toshiba BIOS upgrade.

When powering it on, CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK come on briefly, and the system shuts back off and restarts, LCD remains off without any backlight.

+ No external video
+ No beep(s)

+ Removed RAM - No changee
+ Removed HDD and Optical drive - No change
+ Tried 'known good' RAM, HDD and ODD - No change
+ Reseated LCD cable - No change

Does the Satellite series has inbuilt HW diagnostics that can be triggered?

Thanks

Hi guys, sorry to bother you.

I was wondering if I can upgrade my laptop with a new +SSD HD+
(everybody tells me is a great change in _speed terms_!)
so I was trying to understand if my *SATELLITE L755-1C3* has a _SATA 2 or 3_ internal port (the prices of the HDs are quite different...)

thanks!!!

Answer:Satellite L755-1C3 - upgrade with SSD HD

Hi

As far as I know the SATA III are supported since Intel P67/H67 chipsets
Therefore the notebook seems to support max 300MB/s and this would mean that SATA II HDD is good enough?

Hi,

I have a 2 year old Satellite L755-1LM. The instruction manual says that it might have a USB 3.0 port as that was optional on some models.

Is there an easy way to find out if my model has this? I have been told that USB 3.0 ports have a blue insert rather than black, but I do not know if that is true in all cases (mine is black). I have attached a USB 3.0 standard HDD to the left USB port, which is the one that might be 3.0, but the transfer rate is poor. Therefore, it is either 2.0 only or I am missing drivers etc.

Any thoughts?

Answer:USB 3.0 ports on Satellite L755-1LM

Hi

According notebook specification your machine has USB 2.0 ports only. Difference is that one single port placed on the left side supports ?sleep and charge? option.

First of all, I've been searching toshiba's web for my exact model Toshiba L755-18E (PSK2YE-07E00CCE).

I wanted to download the laptop manual to check RAM compatibility, but I am unable to find it.

Note: Maybe the laptop is named different at toshibas's site, laptop specs:

15,6"
Intel Core i5-2410M
4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M
500 GB sATA 5400 rpm

My questions are:

How many RAM slots does my laptop have?
Is there any RAM slot free or the 4GB are 2+2?

A friend of mine has a spare laptop 1600 DDR3 and I wonder if i could use it.

Does my motherboard support 1600 RAM?
Can I mix 1333 and 1600 RAM? (working at 1333 i guess).

regards,
Jose Lozano

Answer:Re: RAM upgrade on Satellite L755-18E

Hi

I?ve googled a bit around and found info that your notebook is originaly delivered with 4GB RAM and can be upgraded up to 8GB.
At the moment your notebook should have one single 4GB RAM module inside and it is DDR3 1333MHz (PC3-10600), 204p with part number PA3918U-1M4G.

In my opinion you should obtain second 4GB RAM but with the same specification and part number.
With two identical RAM modules there is no risk of some compatibility issues.

Don?t mix two RAM modules with different specifications.

Check if you can find somewhere RAM with part number PA3918U-1M4G.
I don?t have this notebook model but I presume at the bottom side there is placed memory cover.

There's constant vibration around my mousepad and it's getting annoying, my laptop is only a couple of months old. Maybe you know what could be causing it and how to solve it?

I have BIOS 3.60 and I can't downgrade it because my model isn't on support your model page.

Answer:Vibration on my Satellite L755-1LE

Vibration is definitely mechanical malfunction so it can be fixed by authorized personal only.

My advice for you is to contact nearest authorized Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can open the case and check all hardware components.

Hi Enrique

According notebook specification your machine was delivered with preinstalled Windows 7 64bit and this original recovery image contains all necessary drivers, including driver for USB 3.0.

The question is: what have you done exactly? Have you installed original OS version that you got with your machine or own Windows version and which one.
If you still use Win7 64bit driver for USB 3.0 you can find here .

Usually if you have installed the latest sound driver for Satellite L755 and newest version of Audacity everything should be ok and there is no problem to use the program.

Does this laptop need an adaptor?
Is it not built in? Its a bit rubbish if its not. I cant find it anywhere in menus...... :(

It is really strange that you don?t even know which hardware components your notebook has.

According notebook specification your notebook doesn't have BT.

Buy small USB BT dongle and problem is solved. You can buy small BT USB micro adapter .

Firstly, I'd like to say I'm quite useless with computers.

I used the Product Recovery CD, followed all the steps, it took like 30minutes. And then it was done. After it finished there were a number of problems that have appeared:

Windows isn't genuine?
Network adapter won't find any internets? Need to install a driver?
Screen resolution doesn't give the option for the correct one.
It's a stranger version of windows 7, the bits where windows is concernig are all coloured and aren't translucent. - But I'm not sure if this has to do with 32-bit and 64-bit whatever they are.
^ I have figured that I now have 32bit downloaded onto that computer, when it is actually a 64bit.

I posted on the US forums and have realised that I've used the wrong CD, the CD I used was a recovery for an L500-19X.

Not sure if I'm using the correct disk, as I own 2 toshiba laptops.
On the disk it says GMR410014EN0
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
CD9D125073
Support for these products provided by Toshiba Europe GmbH

Just a little more information.. I'm not sure if I created this 'recovery medium' just noticed it the 2nd time, will this have any affect at all on the outcome?

Answer:Recovery for Satellite L755-17Q

> Just a little more information.. I'm not sure if I created this 'recovery medium'
What to say after reading this?
So let?s be clear now: according notebook specification your Satellite L755-17Q was delivered with preinstalled WIN7 64BIT HOME PREMIUM and without recovery disc. Recovery disc must be created by notebook owner. If you don?t have it and you want to install original recovery image for L755-17Q you must order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

If you have European notebook model why do you discuss about it on US forum? European models don?t have anything to do with US models, US market or US support.

What do you want to do exactly now? Please be clear with your answer and we will try to help.

Hello, just purchased Satellite L775-111, which is quoted as "3D ready".

I have Acer 3D monitor. Nvidia control panel allows to set 3D preferences and actually displays 3D content (photos and animations) in correct 3D on Acer monitor. Notebook came with Corel WinDVD BD (Toshiba edition) player, claiming to support 3D content. But blu-ray 3D disks, played by WinDVD BD will not start in 3D, stating that the equipment does not support 3D. Integrated help screen in WinDVD BD refers to 3D Preferences Tab, which in fact is not there. No updates for WinDVD BD are available on Toshiba site.

Any ideas please?

Answer:Satellite L755-111 - No 3D from WinDVD BD

Hi buddy,

I found some articles about WinDVD BD:

Answer:Satellite L755-14Z - CPU upgrade possible?

Generally it is difficult to upgrade the CPU in notebooks since the notebook is designed for specific CPU's. If a CPU is installed that is not supported, it may draw too much power and cause instability, or it may overheat the notebook.

You can probably use a CPU from another L755 model, but it probably wont make much difference.

Hi guys

i went to the local computer shop with my satellite A40 because i only have half of the bios !!!
I sent an email to the german toshiba technical support and they said try a bios update (which baring in mind i still dont know how to do)then we sent my laptop to a local computer shop and told them the problem they told me not to update bios on a cempron processor.

Why not? What are the risks in need to know.

please help me because i want to in the future possibly upgrade to vista??

Answer:Satellite A40: How to update the BIOS because I only have half of the Bios

Hello Daniel,

I?m a little bit confused about your message.
What do you mean with ?only have half of the bios??
What?s wrong with the BIOS?

The Toshiba support said -> try a BIOS update.
On the Toshiba page you can download the BIOS for the Satellite A40.

It seems you didn?t check the download page detailed because on this page you would find this instruction:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS&FID=TRO0000000b07

The BIOS update was detailed described in this document and you should follow these guide lines to update the BIOS.

Heys guys,

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong section, but as i have Windows Vista as my operating system i quess this will do, i should also mention that my computer is a Packard Bell iMedia 2422.

Now my problem is this, i recently bought a 'Seagate OEM 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 Internal Hard Disk Drive' that i would like to use for storing files only. But when i installed the hard drive i wasn't able to find it in my BIOS. Obviously the first thing i did was check all the connections but they all turned out to be fine.

Then i read that if your computer is of a certain age you may need to limit the hard drive from 3.0gb/s to 1.5gb/s, so i bought myself the correct size jumper and set it up to 1.5gb/s. After doing this the BIOS was still not able to find my new hard drive.

The next thing i read was that i may need to update my BIOS to the newest version, so i found out the make of my motherboard and discovered that i needed the new Reno Bios update which i promptly downloaded the file i aquired is 'Reno_bios_v18.exe'. I read that when i double click this file the 'BIOS update disk creator' should start and walk me through creating a bootable BIOS disk, unfortunately this seems to keep crashing and so i cant create the disk and update my BIOS.

So i would like to ask for any help on this matter, whether that be advice on why my new hard drive isn't showing up on my existing BIOS. Or if someone can give me a guide on how to create... Read more

Answer:New hard drive not found & unable to update BIOS

You have a pretty new computer the BIOS isn't your issue with the drive. Most likely it's DOA, your cables are bad or even your mobo has issues. Swap out the new drive with your main drive and check that the BIOS to be sure the drive can be seen and there aren't any issues with it.

The program probley doesn't work correctly in Vista so try an XP PC. Manufacturers are prettty poor on updating utility programs.
