Satellite L675: characters show twice and keyboard delay while typing

Question: Satellite L675: characters show twice and keyboard delay while typing

For some reason, there always seem to be a second delay on the keys on the keyboard, including the numeric keypad. Many times, either a character was skipped or the character showed up twice.
Vey frustrasting as I always have to go back to add or delete a character.

When I run a word program in safe mode, it works fine. Someone told me it may be a software issue as the problem does not occur in safe mode.
I am very careful with the laptop as I am sure there was no spill.

Any comment is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's been happening for about 2 weks and is VERY annoying.
If you eed any sortof system setttings, just ask. Its a brand new Toshib Sattelite Laptop Computer with Windows 7 istalled.
I'm running my anti-virus right now and checing for spyware.

Anyhelp is GREATLYappreciated

Edit: It almot feelslike I'm experiencing minor, but frequent lag spikes.
I've tried restarting the laptop.
I can't type at the speed/efficiency I usally do and it's VERY AGGRAVATING.

Please help if you can.

Answer:Re: Keyboard typing delay on Satellite

Hi

Do you have Satellite L670?
I read about such issue here in the forum.
There is a temporal solution; update the BIOS.
Then the issues should be solved.
If it will come back, then you should disconnect AC adaptor and battery. Wait some time and connect both parts again.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. The problem seems to be with t... Read more

hi bijoy3d,

Welcome to the Forums.

What you can try is to reseat the keyboard ribbon (see page 49-51 of the hardware maintenance manual). If that doesn't work, there's really something wrong with the physical keyboard and you need to contact lenovo support for service.

I've got one of these Logitech mouse/keyboard wireless combis. Last night the keyboard started playing up. Hitting either the T or V keys types both characters. Its the same with C or E and N and U. Other keys cause windows to open, among other random happenings. Rather annoying as some of these characters are in my log on password. If I did not have the Wacom on screen keyboard at startup I would have been up the creek. Running Vista Home Premium. I have changed batteries, and tonight I will try it with a bog-standard keyboard. if this is ok I suppose its time to ditch the Logitech and get a new one. Just wandered if anyone had any ideas.

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

Answer:new problem, keyboard is not typing accurate characters,

There are a mix of ideas here:http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-...Do not update the BIOS though unless you are certain that is the issue (rare) - get it wrong and you need a new motherboard.EDIT:If nothing there helps it might be a keyboard driver issue. If so, go to "Device Manager" and expand out the Keyboards entry. Right click your keyboard and then Uninstall. Do NOT check any box you see about removing the software. The above is not the usual uninstall, it just disengages the software from the hardware. When you restart the computer it will find your keyboard as new hardware then re-install the software from the supplied drivers. Hi, hoping someone here can help me...

Toshiba Satellite A60-106 running Windows XP is missing characters when I type. If I type very very slowly then every key works fine. At normal typing speed numerous letters are dropped. This happens in every application and does not seem load-dependent. The key repeat rate is also slower than it should be (I know how to set this; the problem is not with the setting but with the fact that the setting is not being honoured or recognised properly).

Virus/spyware scan reports clean. The problem began suddenly for no apparent reason and does not seem to be associated with any hardware or software changes. Tried starting in safe mode, tried disabling all non-essential services/startup progams via msconfg but to no avail; problem still there.

Laptop has historically suffered badly from overheating, but this problem is not obviously related as it's the same whether the machine is hot or cold.

Any ideas?

Answer:Re: Satellite A60-106 - Dropping characters when typing

Have you installed drivers for an external Keyboard or Mouse? (for example Logitech or Microsoft)

If you boot into MSDOS, does it still drop characters? You can download a DOS bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com

What BIOS Version is installed? Do you have the latest version?

I have a brand new Satellite C50-A-1CK which is perfect for my needs EXCEPT I continually get double characters appearing on screen when typing which is:
A. VERY frustrating
B. Wasting a lot of time as I have to keep correcting words to remove the duplicate characters.

Please does anyone know of a fix for this? It can affect any key on the keyboard and it doesn't matter if I type slow or quick, press the keys firmly or as light as possible.

Have checked for firmware updates but none available.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I hope that someone can help you and me on this!

I have used other machines for years, I am a reasonably competent typist but have suffered the same problem on my Satellite C850 and it drives me mad.

Also the ease with which using the touchpad to move the cursor about results in the machine selecting the settings sidebar for Windows 8 by mistake.

I have tried changing the keyboard sensitivity within windows but this does not seem to help - just slows the keyboard right down.

Really frustrating

My keyboard is not responding right. Just typing this is excruciating. When I press a key, I have to hold it down for a good three seconds before the letter appears. I've tried restarting multiple times, I've defragged, I've checked my keyboard settings in the control panel, I've uninstalled the only program I installed in the past month or so - this Asian suite thing so I can view Japanese characters on my computer - no luck.

Hi

We have an L450D-119 running Windows 7 64bit.

Occasionally, the keyboard simply stops typing. There is no explanation and no repeatable event. It does not seem to be after any repeatable activity like suspend or hibernate, it just seems to happen. A reboot cures the problem.

It is worth noting that when the keyboard has stopped accepting characters the mouse pad and buttons still work.

This is my second L450D-119, the first was returned with 24 hours for the same reason.

It seems this one has always done it to some extent and the user, not me I might add, has simply seen it as an annoyance and rebooting - clearly this is unacceptable.

My choices are fix it or take it back. So by posting on this forum I am hoping to find a resolution but if nothing is forth coming I shall be forced to take it back and this time it will be for a refund and not exchange.

Thank you for your help and any suggestions

Hi,

Have you installed any keyboard/mouse drivers? (for an external Logitech mouse for example)
Maybe there is a 3rd party driver installed that is conflicting.

Also check the Sticky Keys settings. If you hold down some keys, Sticky Keys may activate. Untick "Turn on Sticky Keys"
Win7: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use

A BIOS Update may also help. You can download the latest BIOS from the Toshiba Website.

Answer:Satellite C50-A-1DV - keyboard typing multiple letters

Connect the external USB keyboard and check if the same ?double letters? issue would appear using such external USB keyboard.

If the double letters symptoms will not appear using external keyboard, then the internal notebook keyboard must be faulty.

This would mean that the internal keyboard must be replaced to fix the issue.
But if the double letter will appear even using the external keyboard, then the keyboard controller (part of the motherboard) could be affected.

Not quite sure if this could be fixed by BIOS update but in case your BIOS is not up to date, try to update the BIOS.

Otherwise I would recommend you to contact Toshiba authorized service provider for an check.

I have been using a foldable keyboard and a remote keyboard and have been having problems:

1.Characters not showing when typed.
2.Cursor jumping from typing position to another place usually outside the box that I am typing in.
3.Characters repeating while typing.
4.Actions ie Backspace not operating.

These problems do not seem to happen in Gmail and are not happening as I type this.
The problems have occurred so far in Google Calendar,a text doco and login to a site.
The problem did occur with the on board keyboard once so I am wondering if it is a malfunction or a virus.

Any ideas ?.

Hi

Wondering whether someone can help. I recently purchased a Satellite L500 and the keyboard is giving problems. Every day two or three times it starts typing giberrish - i.e I type L it will type another letter and so on - and it only fixes the problem by doing a reboot.

Any idea what may cause this problem or how it can be fixed? Its a brand new machine so I am surprised by the problem?

Many Thanks
Partha

Answer:Re: Satellite L500 - Keyboard starts typing Giberrish

Hi Partha,

> Its a brand new machine so I am surprised by the problem?
That makes no difference. Such problems or other ones can happen always even the notebook is few days old.

Regarding your problem: Have you checked the keyboard input language? I don?t know which native language you want to use but I would recommend removing all other languages.
Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Language > Details

In worst case if it would be a hardware issue, you should get a new keyboard for free from an authorized service provider due warranty.

My Satellite C55-B803 laptop keyboard has started typing double letters all of a sudden.

When I press "a" it comes as "aa"and when I press backspace both "aa"are gone. On screen keyboard works fine. I have tried all possible ways..cleaning keyboard and changing keyboard settings also.

Pls do help ..

Answer:Keyboard on my Satellite C55-B803 is typing double letters

Does the same issue happen if you would use external USB keyboard?

If external USB keyboard would work properly, the double letters problem is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.
Then there is just one solution: keyboard replacement.

I recently bought an L750D-14R laptop and it has problems with the keyboard completely skipping letters when typing.

If I type any faster than the pace of 1 finger on each hand then I may as well give up typing altogether.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so is there a fix?

Answer:Satellite L750D-14R - Keyboard misses letters when typing

Hi

Yes, I know such issue.
As far as I know this has been fixed by BIOS update?

Check the Toshiba European driver page and download the latest BIOS for your notebook model.
Update the BIOS and check how it works.

I don't think there is such an option on a standard windows setup,
but I found the right application for you:

It's called "ClicKey" and is available from this link:

The direct download link would be:

I am just now using it and it's really a new great feeling (typewriter style). I think I will keep this utility for some days until it will annoy me :)

Hi.

I have one Toshiba Satellite L505-13n laptop that i buy before one week and i have clear install the windows 7 ultimate 64bit greek with all 64bit drivers for this laptop i find in toshiba site.

I have major keyboard delay when i press a letter this letter begin typing himself a lot of times it stops for 1-2 sec and continue to typing.
This is the problem because in normal condition this letter and every letter or text i enter it must be entering WITHOUT ANY PAUSE.

I check the hard disk and doesn't has any problems.

I try to run from livecd:
1. Ubuntu, and other linux editions
2. Windows xp
3. Windows vista

and to clear formatted hard disk try to install:
1. Windows 7 64bit
2. Windows xp sp3 greek

The problem still remains.

Please tell me what to do and what can i try to solve this MAJOR issue for me.

A LOT OF THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND ANSWERS.

Answer:Satellite L505-13n keyboard delay - lag prob in clear installation of win7

Test it again with original Toshiba recovery image. With factory settings everything should work well. If not there must be some hardware problem.
You can try with BIOS update but in my opinion it is not best idea.

Notebook is new and everything should work again.
Test it with original recovery image without installing some updates or additional software, just clean recovery image. If the problem persists, contact nearest Toshiba service provider and let them check keyboard functionality.

What else you can do?

Hello Everyone.

I am just new to this forum. Im so sorry for my bad english from now. I hope i can explain my problems.
I just bought a laptop from United States with a bargain price. It is an awesome laptop but there are 2 problems and they r big problems for me.
It is Toshiba Satalite P305D-S8828 which is not available in europe, only is sell for USA.
Thats the link :

Laptops keyboard looks nice, soft and good at typing, but especially on a msn messenger box or forum reply page, when i am typing, it miss some of my typings??? I mean i normally use my keyboard fast, but it is like it doesnt press all the buttons but i really press the letters. So the things i write are mixed, not understandable cos of missing letters.

This is not my first laptop. I used a few more before but nothing like this happened before.
It doesnt happen always but generally happens.
I dont know what to do and this really do my head in.
I am using Vista Ultimate Turkish. Do you think this is an OS problem? Or maybe the bios? Its the latest one (v1.90) I heard the same problem happened to some Fujitsu Siemens laptops but with a bios upgrade it was solved. I hope you understand my problem and someone help me.

My second problem is my FN+F9(function key) doesnt work. But some of them working, like FN+F1, FN+F2, FN+F3... work but FN+F9 DOESNT? :(

Answer:Satellite P305D-S8828 Keyboard missing my typing and FN+F9 doesn't work

Go to the Toshiba US site and download the latest BIOS. Having the latest BIOS is important on new models.

For the Touchpad issue, download and install the latest Value Added Package for the P305D, and reinstall the Touchpad driver.
If you installed drivers for your USB Mouse (for example Logitech or Microsoft drivers), remove them. They may be conflicting with the Touchpad

Hello there,

Last night my laptop seemed to have suffered a power surge. Here is what happened:

I was on skype on my laptop, as well as using a program to capture footage from my Hauppauge HD PVR. A friend and I were playing X-Box in order to record a dual commentary for youtube, and suddenly my laptop just turned off on me. As it happened, the Hauppauge light blinked at the same time as the laptop shutting down. I turned my laptop back on and I was given the choice to run Windows normally or to run it in the variety of safe modes.
I let my laptop cool off for a bit, then turned it back on. Upon turning it back on, I was given this message:

*"Unable to get disk information, cannot use the alert feature."*

I still get this message as a bubble, and I have done a system restore and checked for errors in the drive.

What can I do? What exactly is wrong? If I got a power surge, did it just mess up the hard drive? I keep a regular back up, so losing anything won't be that big of an issue, and anyhow, it's just stuff. I am literally using the laptop to type this message out, so if something is wrong, it isn't wrong to the point of no use yet.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean that you have installed the system using the HDD recovery or the Recovery disk?

Could it be possible that this message is coming from some 3rd party software which you have installed on this notebook?

Hello,
I am having problems in finding drivers and applications for satellite L675-10V. For 32 bit systems there are only 3 items to download without any applications while 64 bit system has complete listing.

If there are drivers for 64 bit there should be also for 32 bit.

If that model doesn't have a 32bit option during Recovery, then I doubt Toshiba will upload the 32bit drivers on the website.

What drivers do you need specifically? You can probably install 32bit drivers from other models.

Hello Everyone!
I have a problem with my brand new L20 missing out a lot of characters when I am typing. After searching around the forums, it seems that a few people are also having this problem. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in fixing this problem yet.

As far as I know, the problem only seems to be in WinXP, (I dual-boot with Linux Slackware 10.2 and don't notice the problem there) and I *think* it might have something to do with the internet. I say this because it is only really noticable for me when I am online, writing emails etc... (Writing to this forum takes a lot of error correcting) :)

Has anyone else been able to isolate when this problem is at its worse?

Also, is it possible to group together all the people who are having this same problem into one thread? I think there are about 3 separate threads where people have mentioned this problem, it would be nice to get everyone together to see if we can fix this.

I brought this notebook for programming, and as you can imagine I dare not try try any coding while this is happening, as it would cause toooooo many problems :)
So please, any help, hints, tips, advice or solutions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Lee

Answer:Typing several characters with one keystroke

Most browsers have the ability to remember or in some cases predict the username and password of a site you are trying to log in to.

If you tell me which browser you are using will point you to the relevant tutorial on how to set it up.

Also having your password mapped to a key on your keyboard is not a good idea in terms of security.

If you are still interested in mapping multiple letters or words to a single key it may be worth looking at Keyboard Layout Manager - Keyboard Editor Window (I'm not 100% sure it will let you assign multiple characters to one key but I think it can)

I have an Acer Aspire V11 touch.  I have given up trying to type emails as the delay is so long before my words

I have had this since last December but have barely used it as although I am not a technical person I have used computers for various things atg one point being a secretary so do have a basic knowledge and use for typing, but find this one really frustating.  Typing this is fine so why can I not do it at speed when in my emails replying?

In this case, check if your Filter Keys option is enabled and then, disable it (if it is enabled already). To do this, follow the steps below:1. Click the "Start" button -> Click "Control Panel" -> Click "Ease of Access" -> Click "Ease of Access Center" -> Click "Make the keyboard easier to use".2. If the checkbox besides "Turn on Filter Keys" is ticked, uncheck the option and see if that resolves your issue. If the issue still persists, there is a probability that this is a hardware issue and you can contact your nearest Acer service center for further assistance. To do this, the following link can be helpful:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service Hope this will help you.

This happens quite often and usually a reboot fixes the problem but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Once my laptop has been running for a while (day or two) I will notice that when I am pounding away at the keyboard typing there will be a delay until the characters actually show up. Sometimes I am 8-10 characters ahead of what is being displayed on the screen. It makes it real hard to understand if I have typed the correct letter/characters sometimes. If I go to tap the Backspace key a few times to delete it's delayed as well.

When I reboot the problem is gone. Very strange problem and I am sure it's a bug or something that causes a memory leak of some sort somewhere. Call me crazy... LOL!

Anybody else experience this?

I'm curious as to whether yer keyboard is a USB one. Could be the USB port is underpowered or something. You could try plugging your keyboard into another port (if it is USB). Do not plug it into a USB hub. Try plugging it directly into one of the rear ports on your computer.

Question: Typing Delay

Hello everyone ! I have a slight problem with my wifes typing on web pages and that seems to be the only place it takes place does not happen in word or any other software installed just the world wide web. she is using IE 8 due to the fact she will not let me upgrade here system from XP so anyway whenever she starts hammering away over there in he corner the text input on the web page does not keep up with her input on the key board. She has to stop for 2 to 4 seconds and wait for her typing to appear on the screen . Have not had the chance to disable all add ons yet as she always seems to be there when I have a chance to work on her system. I have though run several virus scans and malware scans and so forth and so on but nothing really showing up to amount to anything. Everything goes in fine in word and whatever else she uses just seems to be the web . I hope I have been clear enough to explain the situation so if more info is needed I will do my best to offer and continue to research on.

Hey,

Is it important to have the Catalyst icon?
Aida64 is 3rd party tool and maybe it shows you wrong information.

> But, when I want to download new drivers from ati
You shouldn?t use the ATI drivers because they are not designed and pretested for your notebook. So use the original Toshiba display drivers. If you have already installed another version remove it and then install the Toshiba drivers.

Hello all,
I have a TOSHIBA laptop for 2-3 years now, and i am very happy with it in general.
I have noticed though that there have not been any new updated drivers for my ATI graphics card.
After running DxDiag my display driver's info are as follows:

Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Driver Version: 8.712.2.1000
DDI Version: 11

One of the videogames that i have installed, suggested to update my graphics driver.
After checking with the Toshiba website , the latest update was on : 24/02/11 ...

Is there anyway to get the most recent updates for my graphics card please?

Hi,

I recently obtained a new Satellite L675 and am stuck with problems.

I am running *Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1* and it has a HD Mobility Radeon 5650.

Since I received the laptop, it would crash when doing anything that contains a bit of graphics, ie Running the Windows Experience Index, Opening some excel docs and even open games.

The laptop was running windows 7 64bit Home Premium (where the problem already occurred), and decided that a fresh installation would sort it out. However this is not the case.

I have the latest video drivers, which can be found [Here|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=178&selProduct=5414&selSh ortMod=988&language=13&selOS=30&selType=11&yearupl oad=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=all Machines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=all& selectedLanguage=13&type=11&page=1&ID=74607&OSID=3 0&driverLanguage=42].

On a side note, when running dxdiag, it says the system model is L670 and not L675 as the label below states. Not sure if this is normal, however the display drivers work for both models.

Also I have sent it back to where It was purchased and they did hardware tests and there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

Answer:Satellite L675 crashing when doing anything graphics related

Can you replicate this issue or does the notebook crash occasionally and only once in a while?
What happens exactly? Do you get an BSOD?

I think that if you are not able to replicate this issue, it would be really difficult for the tech guys to check the hardware?
However, it really unusual that running any application causes the crash? so possibly its hardware issue? in such case I recommend asking Toshiba ASP (service) for assistance.

I have problem i bought 675 like 7 months ago for 1099?. Since it was the top "gaming" laptop and as time pass i updated my Bios. Since then everything going wrong and i updated my Bios like half year ago after 1 month when i bought laptop.

Like i sayed, as the time passed i start geting like lag spikes if i watch videos, playing games, lisening music.
It put like frezze noise, like pc frezes for 2sec and squiks realy anoying.

Don't know how to fix.
I guess its problem of procesor i5 or cuz bios.

Then when i tryed to updated my Display driver there is no freaking way to updated its just mission impossible.

Toshiba didn't care a bit to make updated drivers for costumers even if i tryed to download it from AMD official site.

It says cannot updated driver since its not suported and it says that i go to toshiba website for new drivers and there are no new drivers for my pc.

So i stucked and new games need new drivers like few games dont wana start cuz i dont have updated my drivers.
Its ridicules.

I hope that u will be able to help me up with my drivers to update. If not... oh well altest i know why not to buy another toshiba laptop if they dont care about costumers.

Thanks and sry for my bad english.

Answer:Cannot update Video Driver on Satellite L675

The only thing that i think of is to find newer drivers from other satellite laptops with similar graphic card.

I searched a bit and find [those|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp].

Select Satellite C Series:

C660
Display Driver
ATI
Windows 7 - 32 Bit
8.783.3

C850
10/05/12
Display Driver
AMD
Windows 7 - 32 Bit
8.932.5.3

You can also try downloading 64 bit drivers. There is a possibility that they include 32 bit as well.

C670D
Display Driver
ATI
Windows 7 - 64 Bit
8.812.2.2

Satellite L Series:

L750D
Display Driver
AMD
Windows 7 - 64 Bit
8.911.6

It's a longshot, but you can try.

I was doing the initial installation when we had a power cut (well, the UPS failed the selftest) - the installation did not seem to complete properly, so I tried to repair/continue the installation.

However, all my googling etc. has only led me to the advice: power on, press F8, choose "Repair Computer". Well, I don't have the "Repair Computer" option. Instead I figured I could restore to factory settings and just start over.

How do I restore to factory settings?

Answer:Re: Satellite L675 - How do I restore factory settings?

Hi buddy,

What advanced boot options you have if you don?t see repair my computer? Usually this option is always available and exact recovery process is described here:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If it doesn?t work your only option is Toshiba recovery disk but I doubt you have it if you have done the initial installation because the recovery disk can only be created after successful recovery installation.

Your only chance would be ordering a recovery disk here:

Does anybody have solution for that BIOS (laptop model) , please? He sent me some screenshots as well:

Answer:Satellite L675-S7052 - USB boot option available?

Hey,

Why you want to install Windows 7 from HDD?
Windows 7 you can only buy on CD/DVD, never heard about any HDD versions?

Anyway, I think USB boot is not available. According the Toshiba page you can boot from following devices:
USB FDD,
Primary HDD,
Optical devices,
Network(LAN)

So it seems booting from USB HDD is not possible.

We recently bought a number of L675s with Windows 7 Home Premium. I've installed them all with language=German, but a couple of our staff have now come back and asked to have English instead. The machines came with four languages (English, German, French, Italian), but once installed, it doesn't seem to be possible to change the language. Not even using the recovery disk. What do I need to do to achieve this - buy the recovery disk media from Toshiba?

Answer:Satellite L675 - how to change to a different language (Windows 7)?

Hi

As far as I know it?s not possible to change the language after you have chosen the language while Setup procedure.
So either you will upgrade the Win 7 to Enterprise or Ultimate and will install an multiple language package (this is available for Win 7 Enterprise and Ultimate version only) or you would purchase the Toshiba recovery disk from here:

Good Morning,

my daughter's L675 hangs during BIOS load.

Yesterday the system first failed to start with an error "Boot Failure" as the HDD could not be found.

I restarted and went into BIOS - the HDD was registered and shown as first Boot Source. Upon rebooting, the system failed again with the same error.

After several attempts, even this failed. now only a black screen, cursor in upper left blinking appears. warm start works but no other keys seem to cause a reaction. I am unable to lauch the BIOS Setup.

I removed the HDD and attached it to my PC. It was recoginized and I am able to read/write to it. A W7 disk check completed sucessfully and some problems were "fixed". But when I reinstall the disk in the laptop, it still will not boot.

I have double checked that the disk & the Memory Modules are firmly inserted.

Any ideas what I can try?

Thanks,

John

Answer:Satellite L675-11R - hangs on BIOS load

Well, the blinking cursor in the left upper corner is a typical sign of HDD malfunction.
I think you should format the HDD using other computer. Delete all the partitions and insert this HDD into the L675 again.
Then try to install the Windows system on this unit.

Additionally you could try to check this HDD using an 3rd party software.
Drive Fitness Test is a free tool which can help you to test the HDD fitness.
If some errors would be detected, then a HDD replacement would be advisable.

Hello,

I am having problems in finding drivers and applications for satellite L675-10V.
For 32 bit systems there are only 3 items to download without any applications while 64 bit system has complete listing.
If there are drivers for 64 bit there should be also for 32 bit.

Answer:Win 7 32bit drivers for Satellite L675-10V needed

Hi

Try the Win 7 32bit drivers which are released for other L series.
Try driver for Satellite L655?
Otherwise try to install the Win 7 64bit drivers? in many cases they could run on 32bit OS.

I tried to make a bios update, it started and suddenly pc crash.
Then i press button to open it again but nothing happens only blank screen and shutdown, anything to do?

Answer:Satellite L675 - BIOS update crash

You have big problem now. Obviously the BIOS is screwed up now and in such case only authorized service provider can help you with this.
What you can do is to check this thread and try to follow advice described there. Maybe you will be lucky and bring your notebook to work again.

Check it out.

Windows Vista Home version: HP SR 2163WM computer. This happens randomly whenever I'm typing. Might be in Word or during this message (just happened when I was typing "during"). Suddenly the cursor is gone, no letters are appearing, etc. This isn't the buffer just overloading, the cursor just disappears and I can't type. It's like it jumps off the page, but it's very irritating (just happened again on "like").

Answer:Typing when suddenly no characters appear on screen

Would be hard to say without actually seeing it happen... Reinstall mouse and keyboard driver? I'm not sure, maybe corrupt registry. i'm just guessing, if you can provide any other details please do

I have had Japanese installed on my language bar for some time, but lately when I try to use it, the wrong characters appear when I type in the Romaji. I tried deleting the Japanese IME and re-adding it, but it made no difference. Could this be caused by a virus? How can I fix it? It still works fine on my laptop, it's only my desktop that is affected.

Answer:Wrong characters appear when typing Japanese

Hi nfarrier, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Yes, it can be virus. Did you made any changes on the PC recently?

As mentioned by Yard Dog, run Malwarebyts to scan for malwares. Run antivrus, and do SFC/SCANNOW to check for any errors.

Hi. I use gedit as editor in my Linux systems (SUSE and Fedora); there I find that I can't type in accented characters like I used to do in Windows.

In the text editor in Windows, even using an English keyboard configuration, I could type in accented characters by entering a combination of Alt+<ASCIIcode>, for example Alt+130 would type in the accented 'e' character; this sequence doesn't work in Linux.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem ?

Thnx

Answer:Typing accented characters in Linux

In GNOME, you can use Ctrl+Shift+u<code>. <code> means the unicode code point in hex. A la hold ctrl, hold alt, type u40 and you get @

When attempting to type in MS Word 2000 on win98 platform all of the characters are covered by a growing block of black. Temporary relief of this is accomplished by changing format background; but this doesn't last too long. Print preview shows the entire page blacked out. I'm new to MS Word 2000 and don't have the slightest idea what's up.

I have found that my Yoga 900 will regularly insert two characters when I have only hit a key once. I might type "stop" (4 keystrokes) but I find the word "stopp" has been entered. This is not a problem with one key, it happens on lots of keys, as shown in the video:The problem with duplicate characters It seems to happen most if you type the key "gently", so the characters you press with pinkies and ring fingers are more likely to exhibit the problem, but the video shows this is happens on any key -- it is not a problem with just certain keys. I am getting a new laptop because of an issue with the Yoga 900 waking from sleep when picked it up:(My problem with the Yoga waking when I pick it up) I'll see if this new issue is a problem on the replacement Yoga. Note that Lenovo has been great, and is sending me a replacement laptop based on the waking problem. I discovered the problem with keyboard bounce while waiting for my new Laptop.Does anyone else see the issue with duplicate characters?

I've had the same issue. It doesn't happen often. Just rarely enough that I thought I might be imagining it!

Can anyone shed light? why is there such a lag in typing when using win 7 having issue with cursor

Try this and see what happens
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
It may correct the problem or just identify it.
