Satellite L500-13V - Sound stutters and sometimes laptop locking up

Question: Satellite L500-13V - Sound stutters and sometimes laptop locking up

Sound stutters every other song when playing music, the stutter sometimes results in the laptop locking up and stuck on the stuttering sound. Only way to turn off is remove battery. Vista 64bit installed. Nothing installed other than what came with laptop.

Must be a driver issue but no updates.
Any ideas before i return for refund?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite L500-13V - Sound stutters and sometimes laptop locking up

Hi!

I have checked the Toshiba website and there I did find a sound card driver update. Is this driver already installed?
Furthermore the Toshiba website shows me BIOS update for Satellite L500. You should try this update, maybe it works.

Alternative I would try the sound driver from Realtek directly. Maybe on the Realtek website you can find a newer version.

I own a Satellite A300-1IY, for 18 days now. Some days ago I noticed that the sound frequently stutters. This happens with all media players. I used to have a similar problem with another pc. The difference here is that with this A300-1IY the problem persists. With the other pc I had the same anti-virus (avast) and the problem seemed to happen when the anti-virus database updated. With the Satellite, I also have some other protection software that I did not have on the other pc. Although I am not sure this stuttering problem started after the installation of all that protection software, it definitely worsened after that.

The list of the protection software is:

Comodo Firewall, Comodo Memory Firewall, Comodo Anti-Malware Protection, an Avast antivirus.

Windows Vista Home premium (32bit) with windows defender and windows firewall active.

Are there any reports that the above may cause this upsetting and continuous problem?

Are there more suitable software to perform the same protection? Is it freeware?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Sound Skips or Stutters in my Satellite A300-1IY

Hello

I cannot believe this happen from the first day, especially if the notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image (factory settings) but i can imagine it has something to do with installed additional software.

Anyway, I recommend you to use fantastic Avira antivir. It runs well in the background and doesn?t need many resources. Check it out - http://www.free-av.de/en/index.html

Hi,
I hope you can help with my sound issues!

I have a Satellite L500 that is 18mth old.

*Problem One*
Back in March I was having problems with my mic/sound. If I had my volume over 50% I would get a terrible squealing feedback sound that was difficult to mute (ie had to press mute a couple of times).

As I had a 2 year warranty I sent it away and they said they fixed it but it was only short term. The problem came right back. The only solution I found to having sound volume over 50% was to completely disable the mic.

*Problem Two*
For the last few weeks I have been randomly getting this high pitched, ongoing squealing sound which usually occurs when I am out in public with my laptop in my backpack (embarrassing!). I have to keep pressing mute to get the squeal to stop. Interestingly, my laptop is muted when it starts. Sometimes my laptop is hot when it occurs. Is this problem due to overheating?

Any solutions for both of my sound issues? Should I send it back to get repaired under my warranty? When I argued that it wasn't fixed the first time, they said Windows is probably corrupt and that isn't under warranty.

Thanks!

Kat

Answer:Satellite L500 - Squealing sound and mic/sound issues

This should help you:

+Whistling sound on the Satellite L500+
+http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0402UB0001R01.htm+

This issue occurs if the microphone volume in the speakers properties is enabled.
After disabling this point the issue with acoustic feedback does not appear anymore.

So this is not a hardware problem but setting issue. Using right settings will help you.

I just got a brand new Vostro 1510 from Dell. I'm quite pleased with the laptop except for one horribly annoying thing. The sound stutttteeerrrs every 30 seconds or so whenever I'm using an application (Such as firefox viewing a youtube video, or playing an mp3 with winamp) that uses sound of any kind.

Not only does it stutter but it also lags the whole computer for about 1/4 of a second. This can make playing games, and moving the mouse quite annoying. Not only that but now my music is interrupted by st-t-u-ttering.

I have the realtek HD audio, I'm sure I can figure out what kind of realtek it is, but I don't know where to look. :/

Please help me people! I'm having a problem in my laptop, which is sound stuttering. It's really annoying!
I get sound stuttering usually in games like WOW, COD4, Valve games and GTA VC/SA.
The stuttering occurs whenever a sound plays, like in CS, when a guy talks "Fire in the Hole!". My game stops for a second and skips almost half of that sound. It's very annoying because affects the gameplay alot.
I'm searching for a fix for a long time and I hope you can help me.

My Laptop specs:

Pentium Dual Core T4300 2.1 GHz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia G103m 512mb
500gb HDD
Windows 7 Professional 64 bits

Have a Toshiba Satellite P305 laptop, running Vista. It's jus a couple years old.
Few months ago the sound started 'stuttering, very distorted, and skips' every few seconds. Doesn't matter if its music or a website, it does the same thing everywhere. Thought maybe the speakers went bad in the laptop, so I just bought a set of portable USB speakers, but it still does the same thing even through the new speakers.

What do I check? What could this be if the sound problem is persisting even through the new USB speakers? I see nothing that has changed and do not recall making any changes in the computer lately.

In Device Manager under Sound, Video, Game controllers, I have:
Conexant High Def Smart Audio 221
High Definition Audio Device
USB Audio Device
and there does not look to be an issue with any of them. Each says its working fine.

I use a 'Verizon Wireless aircard connection' if that makes any difference, which I don't know that it would.

After some other research, I saw things like 'disable or reset' the Nework Adapter, but have no idea whatsoever how to do that. I did go into Network Connections and saw basically the very same thing I've seen there the past few years. Which is:
Local Area Connection - Network Cable unplugged - Marvel Yukon 88E8040T PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
Local Area Connection 2 - Network Cable unplugged - Pantech USB Modem WWAN Driver
Verizon Wireless - VZAccess - Connected - Pantech USB Modem.

Hi!

I would like to ask for your help in the following problem:

I bought a Satellite L500-14F (PLSJTE) and I would like to use it with windows XP, but I failed to get the sound driver.

I would really appreciate your help!
Thx!

Answer:Satellite L500-14F - Need sound driver for XP

Hi

The Satellite L500 doesn?t support Windows XP so you have to search on external websites for drivers.

In your case I would search on the manufactures website of the sound chip. Normally there you can also download the sound driver.

And don?t forget to install SP3 before you install the sound driver. SP3 contains 2 Hotfixes for High Definition Audio cards and you will need it!!!

Purchased above and upgraded sucessfully to Windows 7 from XP.
However, the sound is terrible - tinny.

This is applicable to CDs, radio and DVDs particularly when listening to audio books and radio making it impossible to listen to. Have tried changing the settings for the Realtek High Def Speakers, but no difference.
Windows test 'sounds' are okay and sound coming from both speakers.

Have an old Statellite approx 5 years old and sound is far superior.
Not an expert and don't know where else to look to improve the quality.
Can't believe it is supposed to be like this.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Answer:Satellite L500 sound quality is very low

Wait a moment.
Is your notebook delivered with preinstalled Win7 (factory settings)?
Have you noticed this from the first day or now after Win7 installation?
Have you tried to change sound settings in player you use (equaliser)?

To compare it with old notebook is not so relevant. I have 4 years old Satellite M70 with harman/kardon speakers and sound is fabulous and much better and louder than on newer Satellite A300.

Hi all,

I'm newly joined here in the forum and I am looking for a sound driver for my Satellite L500-1EJ model laptop which I bought last year here in Doha.

I am really surprised that the model number is not available in Toshiba driver download website!! ??

Can anyone help me please?? I am using Windows XP, service pack 2 now.

Regards

Answer:Satellite L500-1EJ - Looking for Windows XP sound driver

Hi shihabuhashim,

Why is the model number not available on Toshiba website? Where have you searched?

I have checked the Toshiba website and I can find it:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download drivers
Notebook > Satellite > Satellite L Series > Satellite L500 > PSLS0E > Windows XP
(Satellite L500-1EJ belongs to PSLS0E series)

Now download the sound driver that you need but it?s recommendable installing Service Pack 3 before you start with driver installation because it contains important updates.

Do you have already tried an alternative media player like VLC media player? In my opinion it?s the best freeware player you can have because it playes all audio and video files. You can download the player here:

Have you already tried updating the sound driver? You can download the newest driver on official Toshiba website. :)

any idea how to fix or where to find the right drivers?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite L500-1DT - Where to find sound driver?

Hi buddy,

To be honest I don?t know what problems you have with the sound driver but that?s the correct place for all drivers:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Notebook > Satellite > Satellite L Series > Satellite L500 > PSLS0E

But before you install the latest version, remove the current version firstly and clean the registry using CCleaner

Check this!!!

Hello

I have bought a new Toshiba laptop yesterday and started using from today afternoon but since then I am experiencing a crackling noise from my right speaker I want to whether there is any problem or it?s because of the moisture.

Answer:Crackling sound from new Satellite L500-1XC right speaker

It is not easy to say what is wrong there but if you have this crackling sound permanently maybe is there some serious problem with the speaker.
Try to contact your local dealer as soon as possible and ask for replacement. In my opinion he should take the notebook back and give you new product.

I have just purchased a toshiba Satellite L500-13v laptop to use for general and studying purposes and am having problems.

Firstly music, when listening to music i keep having problems, the laptop will maka a horrible noise that i can only compare to the sound made when you put a cd into your car stereo and it doesn't like it.

When making this sound the laptop also seems to pause for a sec or so then continue.
This has happened when playing from cds, the hardrive and streaming straight form the internet.
Also got progressivelly worse, never at the same moment on a song or game always randomly.

Went back to the store and they said it sounds faulty and replaced the machine . . . . . .
The new one has started doing it.
On a game played online (with sound) it seemed to freeze and make this sound and everything stopped and also when streaming again.

This is a 4gb machine and at these times i would never be using more than 1.5 gb of ram.

This is meant to be everything i need computer wise for the next four and i am getting more and more concerned there is a problem.
I was told at the store this i a very new model, could this be one of those problems you only find once a model goes out??

Plese Help???????

In my experience many games (online) would affect the notebooks functionality if the graphic card driver is not fully compatible or too old?

Greetings,

My name is Boyan and I am from Bulgaria and about an year ago I've bought a satellite laptop from the l500 series ( i can not state which exactly is the model at the moment because my computer is not currently with me and on my user manual the only thing which is stated is that it is for L500/L505/ L500D / L505D . But by memory I think it was the Satellite L500D-ST5506 which is currently not at my dispossal because I gave it for repair for the same problem which I will state down below)

The problem with my laptop is that when I plug a Usb Audio card in my laptop I have a cracking sound when live sound is played trough the speakers/headphones from the external card. I've tried numerous audio cards and speakers/headpohnes which work perfectly fine with other computer, including laptops but the same problem keeps on showing up in the headphones/speakers of my laptop when I am using an external audio card to connect them to the laptop.

The problem is prominent only when the sound signal passes trough an external audio card and it is very annyoing since I use my laptop to create music and i've bought an expenssive audio card and speakers which can not be used with the laptop. I've tried 3 models of audio cards:

I think this notebook model is not the new one. Have you bought already used notebook?

It is possible that battery should be exchanged. When you remove it you will see the Toshiba label with part number. You can use this part number and order new one.

Hi all,
First post so please ask if I have not included all information needed.

I have Satellite Pro L500-1TX (Win 7 os 32bit) and all was working fine including the Fn key drop down menu.

Now, whenever I press the Fn key it crashes the laptop to a blue screen. The computer then reboots automatically and as it was a unplanned shutdown it offers the usual safe mode option.

Unfortunately I do not know when this started as I don't use the Fn key often, so am reluctant to just do a system restore. I don't know how far back to go. It was a few weeks before I associated the crashes with hitting the Fn key.

Any suggestion as to which Toshiba drivers might need to be reinstalled. The computer is otherwise working fine.

Cheers in advance

Answer:Satellite Pro L500 - Press Fn key crashes laptop to blue screen

Hello if anyone is reading this.

A search of other threads has helped me.

I downloaded Flash Card Setup Utility driver and ran this twice (once to uninstall and again to reinstall).

A reboot is required after install.

Pressing the Fn Key now pops up the correct drop down menu.

Hope this helps others.

I've been having issues since February's windows updates with crackling sound typically in DirectX games and some video playback such as Steam. In an effort to isolate the problem out I've gone over all my drivers and dust contamination yet again this month. I removed both the 3.51 and 4.01 Klite packs and the VLC player I had been using. Registry cleaned and defragged.

My sound card is an Audigy Fatality champion series with the front panel breakout box.

June 3 2009 driver for it #6.0.1.1373

Dxdiag attached as well.

Next on my list is to see if maybe there's new drivers for my tv tuner capture board which does have sound card resources apparently.

As a side note, I use Ventrilo daily. When ever I launch it after a fresh reboot and connect to a server it locks the PC up for like 90 seconds before behaving normally and displaying the MOTD. It's done this for maybe 6 months. Whenever I have bad game problems I can generally disconnect and reconnect from the vent server without that little annoyance. I want to lay the blame at DirectX, but I've tried several forced updates of it without any improvement.

Playing in the APB beta as well, and thru tips from those players disabled multimedia network throttling in the registry which improved in game performance there a ton.
I really do not want to reload this machine as it takes an eternity to get everything back the way I like it.

I got an Acer InspireOne Notebook for christmas, and it worked like a treat. It's got a 144GB HDD. Windows XPSP3 (Home), 1.60GHZ and .98GB of Ram. Recently I tried installing iTunes, and it didn't work very well, and when I tried media in it, it skipped and stuttered. I tried playing the same files in WMP10, VLC, and TCMP, but it stuttered on all of them. After uninstalling iTunes, it still didn't work. Eventually I tried system restoring to before I installed iTunes, and I managed to get the sound to work a bit better, but it still skips and stutters. I can't figure out what the problem is, can anyone help?

Question: PC sound stutters

This may be a little OT, but I don't know where else to turn. I've tried several of the sound system forums but haven't gotten any help.
I'm having trouble with the audio system on my computer. When I play a YouTube video or even just an audio CD, it will play fine for a while and then stutter and buzz for a second and then resume playing. It happened on my old computer and I tried everything I could think of to make it work. I put in more memory (upped to 8gbytes), a new graphics card (a GeForce GTS450), a new sound card to replace the on-board sound card on the MSI motherboard, all to no avail. Finally, I just replaced the computer. I got an Intel I5 system (a 4 core 2.8Ghz processor) with 8gbytes of main memory using an MSI P67A-G45 motherboard. I'm using the same graphics card (the GTS450), and I'm currently using the on-board sound card and LAN interface (which is rated at up to 1000 Mbps). I am running Windows 7 64-bit home premium. I even replaced the speakers. At first, I thought that this had solved the problem, but I was wrong. It is still happening. I don't understand. This new system should be able to handle anything audio or video related that I want to do (I'm not a gamer so I'm not worried about that).
Would anyone have an idea what is wrong? It's driving me crazy. I just want to be able to listen to my music and YouTube videos without them stopping and stuttering in the middle.
Please help.
Thanks,
Mark

When I log into winxp, the 'Start Windows' WAV file stutters. I have no other audio problems. It's not that big of a deal, but just thought I'd post the question to see if any one could help.

Answer:Sound stutters with logon wav ONLY

This has been an intermittent problem for me, too. I think it is due to antivirus software initializing.

No cure that I know of except that the problem disappears sometimes after I defragment or run bootvis to optimize startup.

I also use just a doorbell sound. It lets me know the sound is working and is almost too short to stutter.

Another app I've found useful for those programs that seem to have a problem starting the tray icons is Startup Delayer. You can space out your startups so there is a small delay between them. And it also lists all your startup items so you can disable them, if you want.

Hi Guys

I'm having a lot of problems with my sound at the moment, and I have no idea why it's happening, basically no matter what sound I listen to through my pc it stutters and cuts out then comes back on which as you can imagine is very annoying when listening to music or in the middle of a film! I thought maybe it was a heat problem so I moved the pc to a well ventilated place, but I'm still having the same problem! I've run virus scans and they all came back clean, so to be honest I'm baffled as well as annoyed by this problem.

Please help!

Answer:Sound cuts out and stutters

My first guess would be the driver for your sound card or motherboard sound output. Check in your device manager, see if you have the most up-to-date drivers, and if you do have the most up-to-date drivers from Microsoft, try getting the drivers directly from your sound card manufacturer.

Answer:Win XP Pro -- slow & sound stutters -- Please help!!!

I provided a better description & some additional information, below that may provide better clues.

The last few days my computer has been getting progressively slower and the sound has been getting much worse. Now the sound from mp3's on my hard drives starts and stops. There is a second or two of silence before it plays again, and all programs are slow to launch. I ran scans with NOD32 antivirus and several Trojan programs that found nothing. Online Kaspersky also did not find anything while Trend Micro and Panda would not work even though I had used them successfully in the past.

My Windows task manager shows multiple instances of several processes. For example there are 8 instances of svchost.exe, and before I rebooted, there were 4 instances of Drwtsn32.exe running. I also saw that the 5 instances of the Acrobat reader toolbar extension called Acroiefavclient.dll were present.

I would appreciate your help! Thank you.

Answer:sound and video stutters

Not necessarily. You have a five year old laptop that isn't supposed to be a workhorse in the first place. Depending on what else you might be running, the likely answer is you're a little short on RAM.

I'm having some trouble with my PC. It freezes randomly and then the sound stutters.. The mouse and keyboard still responds, and if I'm playing a game it still works as normal, the sound just stutters. What I can't do is switch between different programs/windows. I can only use the window (and tab in firefox) that I have open when the stuttering/freezing starts.
When the freezing/stuttering stops the computer works normally, except the clock is now behind by the amount of time the computer has been frozen.

It seems like pressing several buttons at the same time for some seconds, so the speaker in the computer makes a beeping sound, makes the computer un-freeze (except at rare times when it wont un-freeze at all, and a reboot is necessary.

any help would be highly appreciated, as I have absolutely no idea as to what may be causing this. Temperatures are fine, and it seems to be happening at totally random times.

I have just installed a Soundblaster Live 24 sound card (to replace the faulty RealTek AC97 on board). Everything works OK except the sound briefly stutters (interrupts) everytime I open an application or navigate to another web page/site. I have 1Gb RAM, a 2.6Ghz CPU and so resources shouldnt be a problem. I have the latest driver installed. I disabled the Realtek via the Device Manager (but not BIOS?)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am fairly inexperienced with these things so please explain clearly if its complicated!!

Many thanks in advance,

Matt.

Answer:Sound problems - sound stutters

1st you should get into the BIOS and disable the onboard sound. When your PC first boots up press DEL to get in. If it's not the DEL key then try ESC, or F1, F2, F10 etc... Normally it tells you what key. Find and disable the onboard sound once you get in. Then save and close. Note you only have about 4 or 5 seconds to get into BIOS. If you miss it and bootup starts, you'll have to restart and try again.

Then go to the Start Menu to Programs/Creative/AudioHQ. Go through all those settings and tweak around and see if you can fix it. Make sure no kind of signal "boost" is going on. Make sure it has the right number of speakers chosen (2, 2.1, 4 etc). Check the environment settings and try different ones. The EQ settings. Whatever looks like it changes your audio.
Make sure digital audio is OFF unless you KNOW you're using it with your speakers.

Also I would check Windows own audio settings from Control Panel and volume settings. Make sure all that looks good.

You might even update to the latest DirectX (thus Directaudio). Use Windows Updates for that. Look at top of Start Menu under All Programs.

If it still does it, it could be a background program. Try closing any and all open programs and see if that helps. Close them through the icons by your clock. And also you can use the task manager, press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. Then look for programs to close under the Programs tab, and also look for programs to close under the Processes tab beside your u... I need a new keyboard for my L500 and found out, that the keyboad of the P200 (and some other models) seems to be the same (105 keys, num pad, 2 win keys). Are those keyboards 100% compatible or do they just look the same?

Answer:Satellite L500 and Satellite P200 - compatible keyboards?

Hi

In my opinion this question is for Toshiba service and not for user-to-user forum.

Anyway I think that both keyboards are not the same and you should order 100% identical keyboard designed for your notebook model.

Question is: why do you look for keyboards for old notebook models if you can order new one for L500.
On eBay you can get it quite affordable.

Hello all and a Merry Christmas.
Problem is Satellite Pro P100-327 will not play back DVDs without stutter on the audio. I have tried playback with the preinstalled WinDVD, Windows Media Player and PowerDVD.

All exhibit the same symptoms so I am guessing that the problem is actually with the audio.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this kind of problem?

I just installed Vista x64 onto my desktop. When nothing is going on, I can play music normally. But when I'm installing an application, or running any sort of scan or process, the sound starts to stutter. I can actually hear the playback slowing down and during heavy processes can hear individual samples. I've read on various sites that the SATA drivers in Vista are shoddy and have tried to install different ones, to no success. I've even heard of people installing XP X64 drivers but I haven't been able to do this successfully. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the root of this problem and/or solutions?

Why does the cpu spike up when I run stuff (common stuff)?

OS: Windows 98SERAM: 383MBSound Card: SoundMax Integrated Digital AudioI had a great deal of music transfered to this computer about a month ago and I've been using it primarily for listening purposes, so this is causing me quite a bit of frustration.  It just started the other day, but previously was corrected eventually with repeated restarts.  Today I've had no such luck, and I've worked tirelessly to fix this problem for the duration of the evening.Anyways, when I restart, the usual Windows 98 start up sound begins, "hiccups" and then dies out.  After this happens, no sound will play on either WinAmp or the internet.  On WinAmp, in addition to no sound, the song ticker will play to the 2-second mark and then mysteriously stop.  For this reason, I don't believe it has anything to do with speakers.. however, device manager claims that the soundcard is without error!  ScanDisk and Defragmentation of my drives have done no good either!  Please help if at all possible..But please, I realize I have a VERY basic computer.. pathetic even.  So of course, I know it's wise to update, and I plan to eventually.  Unfortunately, lack of funds are preventing me from being able to do this any time soon.  This system was given to me free and was practically untouched when I got it; it's nothing special, but it does provide me w/ music when I need it.  Anyways, thank you if you read all of this an... Providence,If you already know the precise model and version of your sound card go to the website of the manufacturer of it and download the drivers for the win98 o/s. If you can identify the current software associated with the sound card located within your add/remove programs delete them 1st before installing the ones you find on the web site. Do not uninstall them until you find the drivers. It appears that your current sound card is an integrated one and thus another alternative is to purchase a PCI sound card (very inexpensive) and install it in the computer in any available PCI slot and then install the drivers for it and you should be away to the races. I would try the 1st 1st. goodluck and keep us informed.P.S. My video and sound stutter and eventually hang for about 20 to 30 seconds while Iím playing games. This happens about every 3 to 5 minutes. Iíve recently been playing City of Heroes and Iíve noticed that the problem happens a lot right when a big fight starts, so I usually miss most of it. Some of the other games Iíve had the problem with are FarCry and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, although I would imagine Iíll have the problem with any game I play.

Let me start by saying that my computerís specs are up to the recommended for the games, and all the games listed ran fine until a few weeks ago when the problem sprang up. Here are a few things Iíve done to try to track down and fix the problem:

1.) Ran Trend Micro-Housecall, McAfee, RAV, Stinger, and AVG to check for viruses. The viruses ďJava Bytever.AĒ and a ďJS/Loding.BĒ were found but removed. Ran Ad-Aware and SpyBot to get rid of that junk too.

2.) Uninstalled the ATI video drivers using the ATI uninstaller. Ran Driver Cleaner 3, and cleaned the registry with RegSeeker just to be safe. Then installed ATI catalyst 4.6 drivers.

3.) Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and everything checked out OK.

4.) Scanned the hard drive for errors and none were found. Also defragged the drive.

5.) Cleared out all the temp folders (including temporary internet files) and disk clean-up.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Can anyone think of anything Iíve missed, or anything else I can run to try and fix the problem? Right no... Read more

Hello,

I have an LG R480 K.ARD8WE1 laptop and have had it for about 4 months. Recently however, my laptop speakers have begun making 'glitchy' sounds, and the picture usually freezes for a split-second too. This usually happens in games, but it also happens outside of them too. For instance, Windows starts, skype preloads, and the sound that it makes when it does so is distorted. The sound is kind of like the electronic sound that you hear in some remixes.

Sometimes this does not happen at all, but at other times, it can be quite frequent. I have already tried re-installing my sound drivers multiple times and from different sources, and updating my display driver, but that did not work.

I thought at one point that it could be a physical defect with the speakers, but why would that cause the picture to freeze for a split-second? I also considered that heat could be causing this, as I noticed that my CPU temperature was 71 celsius (with a cooling pad) at a point when it became particularly bad, but then I noticed that it could also happen immediately after a cold boot.

I've been figuratively tearing my hair out with this. Although it does not happen all the time, it is extremely annoying when it does happen. Since the sound is the most obvious problem, it took me a while to notice that the picture did freeze when it happened, so I'm beginning to think that it is not the sound driver or speaker that is causing the problem, but only a particularly noticable sid... Answer:sound stutters and screen freezes

Long load times, skipping sounds, lag in games, and a hot CPU temp together point to an overworked / under-cooled cpu. Make sure the computer is dust free and all air flow points (areas around the vents) are unobstructed.

Edit: I am currently looking up specs on your laptop, However it seems the company's website does not offer exact specs. Could you please upload a Dxdiag or system specs of Belarc Advisor (loacated here: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It routinely stutters, even when playing the windows startup sounds. Any ideas? A search through the internet suggested an IRQ issue, but I don't know how to check or change that.

I have updated the sound driver, installed DirectX 9.02(b) and run Norton Utilites on the system to clean up common errors.

Answer:Satellite Pro P100 - WinDVD stutters on playback

Hi,

what programs do you have running in the background? Maybe some programs like antivirus or something else can cause a slowdown of the system. Do you mean the playback in battery mode or on AC-Power (sorry for the weird question :) ).

And, did this happen with all DVD you playback? If yes, then try another program for playback, like Videolanclient:

A few weeks ago I upgraded my HP laptop from Vista Home Premium 32bit to 7 Professional 32bit using a clean install. Ever since that install, the sound makes a small or noticeable clip/stutter every minute or so whenever I play music. Its been getting annoying, and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Its been doing this since I've installed Win7. When I installed Win7, windows provided its own basic drivers for everything except my display driver. I noticed the problem, I figure it would disappear after I installed the Realtek drivers.

A week or so ago, Windows Update provided me with realtek drivers. I believe the driver helped, but not much. The problem is still noticeable. I registered to this website and found that new drivers were out (2.40). I installed that, but it didn't get rid of the problem (I think it even made it worse). Windows update noticed I changed drivers and asked me to install the previous one I had again. I did.

I believe this only happens when I play music. This problem occurs with iTunes and Pandora.com (stream radio using Flash). I haven't noticed it when I stream or play videos online (flash or WMP). I haven't noticed it when I am playing music through Windows Media Player.

I installed Ubuntu and it currently sits on a different partition. Ubuntu does not share the same issues as Windows 7 is experiencing at all. Ubuntu was installed after I noticed the problem.

I can't test this on a game, I don't have any installed.

I've tried onboard sound and two separate sound cards (Sound Blaster Audigy and Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGammer). Sound stutters and crackles, eventually crashes completely and goes mute. Seems to worsen the problem after the computer goes into sleep mode and wakes up.

I see numerous complaints in several forums about this issue. Is Microsoft simply not addressing?

Answer:Sound stutters and crackles, eventually crashes

It may not be a Windows 7 problem but a driver or some other software that is causing this.

Many problems after standby are caused by device drivers. Update all your device drivers as a start. If your sound is on a shared IRQ that can also be a problem as the sound IRQ is the lowest priority.

Download and run the free DPC Latency checker and see if shows any problem areas. Click Me

Hi everyone,

About a week ago I noticed that my sound has been stuttering every 15-30seconds. It sounds a bit like a scratched record. This happens during streaming video and audio from the internet and from listening to music on my hard drive. The problem occurs through my onboard soundcard (IDT) and the external one which I use for recording (Line 6 KB37) which leads me to believe it is something more complicated that just updating the drivers (which I have done).

A friend thinks I may have damaged my hard drive while transporting my laptop but I don't recall knocking it on anything. Would a damaged hard drive affect streaming content?

It's a Dell Inspiron 1545, a couple of years old. 4GB ram, Windows 7 Home Premium x64Bit.

Anyone out there have any idea what's going on? I really need this back up and running ASAP - any help is very much appreciated!

Cheers,

Justin

Answer:Music and video sound lags and stutters

I don't actually really have any advice, but this sounds kind of familiar to me--does it happen regardless, like if you just let it play, or do you have to also do something else on the computer, as well? 'Cause I know with my computer, if I'm listening to something on, say, youtube, and I click on another internet page, it does that little stutter most of the time. I don't know why, though, so this isn't much help, sorry.

I am having a strange issue with my 2 laptops and 1 dekstop. Whenever I'm listening a song and at the same time I`m installing/uninstalling a program, I have a sound stutters for a second. Every system is with the latest drivers and the mashines are fairly new.

Any ideas?

The only thing which is the same between the mashines is the operation system, which is Windows 7 64bit.

Answer:Sound stutters for a second when installing/uninstalling a program

Sound is on a shared IRQ with another higher priority device. When you are doing other things such as a program install, the sould can be "interrupted" by the higher priority IRQ devices and probably what you are hearing. I wouldn't consider this a "problem">

Hi guys, I've installed Win 7 Ultimate x86. The problem I'm facing is that whenever I enable my sound card driver and try playing an audio, the audio stutters and the computer freezes. I have to restart, use safe mode to disable the sound card and then use my pc. I've looked all over the net for solutions and these are what I have done so far...

- Downloaded and installed codecs for High Definition Audio Device
- Downloaded and installed Windows 7 x86 compatible driver for my sound card (Creative SB Audigy Value).
- Disabled all audio enhancements
- Changed playback sound to come through speakers (this one automatically happens if I re-enable the sound card).
- Uninstalled and reinstalled all the soundcard drivers from Device Manager.

The problem still persists.

I'm pretty tired at this point and have hit a dead end, so any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

hi there!!

i had a toshiba satellite a300 that unfortunately died... i want to take the hard disk drive from it an put it on my cousin's toshiba satellite l500 laptop...
I siply put it to l500 but it stacks at a point that shows again and again something about media test and more...

What i'm supposed to do?
Te strange (to me that i'm not very computer guy) is that at bios setting shows the model of the hard disk...
I mean that the l500 recognises the drive...please help me...

thanks in advance..

Answer:HDD swop from Satellite A300 to Satellite L500

Hi

Satellite A300 supports the same HDD like a Satellite L500. Both use the SATA HDD therefore the inserted HDD should work.
Its good sign, that the HDD is visible in BIOS. This means that HDD is recognized and in good condition.

I?m wondering what you have done after the HDD has been inserted.
Did you try to install the system using Toshiba recovery disk or another disk?
Did you try to format the HDD firstly?

Try to boot form the system disk and format the HDD firstly.
Then follow with system installation

The sound on this laptop is terrible when ever i do anything on the laptop while playing a song (my music ) the audio stutters - slows down - skips and generally sounds rubbish.

I have a large mp3 collection on another computer, and try to stream the songs while surfing or working on this laptop.
It is almost impossible to listen to them.
I thought it might be due to streaming on a wireless network, so I copied some over to the laptop, but there is absolutely no difference

I have tried Window Media Player and winamp, changed and played with the settings and finally reinstalled the driver ( Realtek Semiconductor )
Yet still is is abysmal.

I am thinking of returning the useless thing.

Answer:Satellite L450D: audio stutters slows down and skips

I presume you have tested it with ?factory settings? and original preinstalled drivers.
What to say?
Try to disable all useless background activities. Maybe some HDD scan or anything else is responsible for stuttering. Fact is that this notebook doesn?t have Harman/Kardon speakers so you cannot expect best sound quality as on notebook with these high quality speakers.

At the end I must say I agree with you. If you are not satisfied try to contact your local dealer and bring the notebook back. Get new one.

Hello everybody,
What my system is:
Acer VN7-791G Gaming Notebook
Specs:
Intel Core i5 4210H
GTX 860M 2GB
8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
750GB 5400RPM SATA
What my problems are:
- 10-20 minutes after I start up my PC, my mouse cursor starts stuttering. It just teleports from place to place, or just plain freezes. Touchpad does the same thing. Also, it doesn't matter if I'm just browsing or running an app.
- During this "stutter phase", as I call it, if I'm watching or playing anything I hear very loud sound tears from the lap top. These tears stop as soon as I take my hands off the mouse.
- Also during this phase: If I'm playing a game, my frame rate drops to unplayable levels when I'm touching the mouse, it reverts back to perfect fps as soon as I stop messing with the mouse. Same thing happen with videos, they slow down and cause disgusting sound tears when I touch the mouse, and revert back to normal after I leave it alone.
What I have tried:
- Updated my chipset drivers.
- Updated my GPU drives.
- Updated my mouse drivers.
- Switched mouses.
- Ran a disk scan using cmd.
- Closed a bunch of unnecessary programs and tasks during gaming.
- Set Windows Updates to manual for some reason.
- Found out that nVidia ShadowPlay was marked "running" and closed it.
- Shut my anti-virus programs down.

Hi all,About a week ago I began to notice that under load (playing resource intensive games, CAD, full HD video playback, running multiple VMs) the system stutters every 5-10 seconds for about a second and a buzzing sound comes through the speakers which will interrupt any music or other sounds playing.  A few times it also seems this will also happen momentarily if the system is trying to multitask.  Prior to this, it ran fine for months since I built it.  Resource Monitor doesn't show any spikes in any equipment during stutters and SMART statuses are all good.Initially, I was concerned about display drivers, but after re-installing twice from different sources, the problem continues.  Given the heat we've been having here I thought something might be running too hot, but SpeedFan says otherwise.  I opened the case and dusted everything to be sure.  As there was still no change I considered that the problem may in the power supply, as I've heard of similar symptoms occurring with failing PSU.  Switched to a known good PSU and I'm still experiencing the same problem in the same circumstances. I'm hoping I can get a little input before I'm forced to completely troubleshoot everything.  I haven't installed anything or made any significant changes to software in the last week, so I'm inclined to believe it's a hardware problem.-klifford This system:OS:            &n... I bought this computer brand new only about 6 months ago and never had a problem until I finally got around to getting online two weeks ago. (long story)

When I'm online and listening to music (in iTunes, WMP, WinAmp, it doesn't matter) , after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes the sound with stutter... Ddddddddddddd... then the computer restarts.
I tried changing media players obviously and updating them, changing browsers. You see, I can be on the internet for hours and hours with no problems. I can listen to music for hours and hours. I can work with my music creation/production software for hours and hours. All with not a slight hiccup. But as soon as I'm online AND listening to music, that's when it rears it's head.

The error reporting tells me it's a problem with a device driver. I updated the soundcard driver, but still the problem persists.
I turned back hardware acceleration, but no luck.
I turned off auto system restart so I could get a BSOD, which I did, hoping it would tell me more. Not really. Not for me anyway.
The BSOD shows under technical info:

STOP: 0x00000012 (0x00000002, 0x8001003B, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete

Memory? PCI latency? Soundcard? Should I take it out and use onboard sound? (I really don't want to have to do that, but...)

I checked Device Manager and saw no evidence of conflicts. I'm confused. Very.
If it's a device driver issue and it's not solved with the n... Read more

So here's my problem

When I watch YouTube videos I get random stutters where the sound skips. The image doesn't seem to freeze though, just the sound

I also get issues with the sound streaming music online, where it pauses for a second and stutters even though it's not buffering.

When this happens, NT Kernel & System shoots up in task manager and uses more CPU than the browser. This by the way happens in every browser, IE, Chrome or Firefox.

It doesn't happen when playing music in iTunes or watching videos from my hard drive.

That being said I'm not posting about a buffering type stutter, I am aware of that and this is not it. This is like basically suddenly the computer has a big spike in memory or cpu usage and the video/sound clip stutters for a sec. But it happens often enough to be very annoying. In a 15 min YouTube clip it happened 10 times.

I have reinstalled my IDT High Definition Codec and my Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but still the problem persists.

Any thoughts of what I can do?

Answer:Sound stutters when streaming video or audio online.

Try this test: Start a Youtube video and immediately hit the pause button. Watch the movement of the red progress bar until it fully loads the video. This obviously eliminates any buffering issues if the problem is still there when you try to play the video this way. You might also want to do a speed test on you internet connection. Here are my results:

Now, I know you are convinced that it is absolutely not a buffering issue and you have done nice testing to that end; however, I would still try the tests as described above. Good luck.

Ok, so here is my problem, hope that someone can solve it quickly. First, the specs:It's a PCOperating System: freezes on both Windows 7 and Ubuntu (any version) //it freezes on the BIOS as well, I'll explain later...Motherboard: Asus Maximus Formula II - Special Edition, FSB 1333 MHz, Intel x38CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3.00 GHzRAM: 2 x Kingston 2GB 667Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MBHDD: (I don't know the type but it's 500GB)Sound Card: Supreme FX IIPSU: Codegen 450WAnd now the problem and what I've done so far...The computer freezes randomly. When I browse, watch a movie, program, do simple actions etc. The freezes are random. Also, if there is sound in the background before the freeze (music, audio), the last sound that was heard continues to repeat. The sound stutters, it loops like one millisecond of the last sound heard. I get no BSOD and no error message whatsoever. Moreover, and this is the most weird thing to me, when I press the restart button (it requires a hard restart) the computer does not restart immediately but continues with the frozen screen and looping sound for about 5-10 seconds. Then, the computer shuts down completely, and after 5-10 seconds it powers on by itself.      . I hope someone has had an experience with this kind of problem.Furthermore, the computer does not only freeze when using an operating system. It freezes during the BIOS as well sometimes, requiring hard restart and restarts the sam... Read more

Possibly the damage from the power surge didn't stop at the PSU. You could have some motherboard/CPU/chipset damage. The fact that you get freezes in the BIOS is suggestive.

Hello everyone!

I hope you can help me with this problem. Whenever I try playing a DVD on my Toshiba S1800, the playback stutters, both video and audio wise, which of course is irritating. I wondered if this could be a hardware malfunction, or perhsps due to a wrong software driver?

I have tried different software DVD players, and they all show the same. I heard it could be due to that the IDE controllers were not set to DMA mode, but they are on this unit. Does any of you have any suggestions of what causes this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Danny.

Answer:Satellite 1800 - DVD Playback stutters, Video is delayed and audio is scrambled

What DVDs do you play? A original DVD movies or a burned medias.
Did you check the drive with audio CDs? Is it possible to play audio CDs without any troubles?

I?m not 100% sure but maybe it?s only a codec issue. Sometimes if different codec are missing the audio and video issues happen.

I'm at my wits end :-(

uninstalled drivers - re installed drivers - updated drivers (nvidia don't even list the 7600 Go graphics card for vista - used other site recommmened in this site) - changed screen resolution, changed screen bits depth, removed anti virus - plenty of system resources available yet on every single video file playback slows down and speeds up or stutters especially bad when i full screen.

Tried different video files and dvds, different codecs and players, vlc, media player classic, neros show time, WMP etc etc all are effected. Seems like others have had similar problems and thought maybe they had some more ideas to solve this one ??

Is there something i haven't tried ? please let me know... thanks for your help

About 1-1.5 months ago, I downloaded a file that might have been malicious. First thing I noticed was that while I was watching a Youtube, the sound started stuttering/echoing as the video lags as well. I then noticed that this also happens with any video on the internet (facebook, narutoget, vines, yahoo, imdb, etc...) At first I thought it was just my internet connection. I restarted my router but it still happens. I opened a mp3 file with Windows Media Player and the thing happens. System sound also stutter/echo. Recently, I downloaded a GBA emulator. I was playing a game when the sound started stuttering/echoing. I noticed then that it wasn't just the sound, the game was also slowing down as the sound stutters.

This does not happen everytime I play a video/game. Sometimes, I can go through a whole 20 min video without any issue. Sometimes, the issue starts as soon I start a video but disappears eventually. Sometimes the video starts ok but gets worse eventually, gets better, then gets worse, etc...

I am going on vacation for a week and to keep myself entertained, I recently got a new laptop from Newegg: Acer Laptop Aspire E5-575-33BM Intel Core i3 7th Gen 7100U Windows 10 Home 64-Bit Grade A-Newegg.com

I got this laptop because had nice specs and features for its price of $304. The most important to me was the CPU, the integrated graphics, the RAM, and not so importantly but a nice feature: a terabyte of HDD storage. With these specs, I was hoping to play one of few particular games that I installed so I can play while I'm not doing anything else, Grand Theft Auto 5. Upon from reviewing the specs and comparing them to the minimum requirements detailed on the Steam page, it seemed like the game would be playable. However, when I started the game myself, there was a major problem.

The game would constantly stutter. The opening R* scene would lag, driving around Los Santos was laggy, and the final benchmark would freeze the game a while after it starts. Even while running in the bare minimum settings the game provides to you, stuttering is an obnoxious and constant problem. My guess is that the memory is what's dragging the performance down. I tried using the Windows 10 Game Mode and Razer Cortex Game Booster (although the latter, I uninstalled after hearing about it being not helpful) and I still have this problem. I'll be leaving Saturday, so I'd like to know something hopefully sometime tomorrow.

On the spesifications of the Satelite L500-1V1 it says that there is 4096MB DDR3 RAM with 1066MHz, but why is there only 533MHz in each card?

As far as I know the notebook has been equipped with the DDR3 1066MHz (PC3-8500) 2GB modules?
There are two modules means notebook uses 4GB RAM.

But the 1066MHz can be reached only if the FSB (front side bus) would support 1066MHz too?

However I have discovered that my model has been discontinued and I'm not sure what to do.
Any suggestions?

With more RAM your notebook will have better performance.
According notebook specification your notebook is delivered with 2 GB RAM but it can be upgraded up to 4 GB.

Hi,

Not sure if it solves your problem but try:

Go Start-Control Panel-System security -Administrative tools- System configuration-Boot - advanced options
make sure that maximum Memory option is not checked. If it's checked, uncheck, press Apply, Ok and restart.

Hi,

I am experiencing a "little" problem. Everything started with the following BSOD :

0x00009C (0x00000000, 0x8922c94c, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I managed to find out that the touchpad is faulty. I disconnected it , problem solved.

It was working fine until I noticed that only one core is working out of 2 (Intel i3 M330).

In the BIOS I found:

Dynamic CPU Freqency Mode - Always Low

Core Multi-Processing - Disabled

So I switched them on to:

Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode - Dynamic

Core Multi-Processing - Enabled

For first the windows 7 64bit crashed with the followind BSOD message:

STOP 0x0000009C (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88002F6BB70, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

Since this message I can switch it on but there is no display, no response.

Is there any solution for this?

Modell: Satellite L500- 1QK

PSLS9E-01000SEN

Answer:Satellite L500 BSOD

>Since this message I can switch it on but there is no display, no response.

I?m afraid I don?t understand this? what do you mean by ?no display? exactly?
Can you see the Toshiba splash screen and can you access the BIOS properly?

From my understanding this BIOS should be set to default settings (in BIOS press F9 and F10 to save the changes) in order to get the same BIOS settings configured by Toshiba? then the BIOS should be configured properly.

Generally speaking the BSOD appears due to serious software or hardware problem.
In most cases the system recovery should solve system problems but if the BSOD would still appear even after the usage of recovery disk, then I would assume your hardware is affected.

This would mean that any single hardware parts like memory or motherboard should be tested

Hello Everybody!
I am Tibor from Hungary. I am not a big forum user but now I would need a little help.

I have a Satellite L500-1GE and I use Windows 7 ultimate (64bit). My problem is the following:
I can not use the hotkeys (FN + F1..9 buttons) and so I can not switch on/off the wireless. It always work (the led of wireless always burn). I downloaded the value package, hotkey, accesibility driver but bootless. In base without drivers some application work (ESC, F1, F5, F6, F7) but I setup the value package nothing work.

The most important function for me it is the the wireless switching (FN + F8) because if it always work I can not use my notebook full accumlator capacity.

Could you help me about this problem?

Thanks so much for your help in advanced and I wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the NeW Year!

Kind Regards,
Tibor

Answer:Satellite L500-1GE - Can't use hotkeys

Hi

For using the FN keys you have to install Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards supports utility. Make sure that both versions are released for Windows 7 64bit already. If you choose a Vista version it will not work!

Here you can download all:

Value Added Package must be installed firstly. ;)

hi,

does anybody know why the L500-1VT is out of stock everywhere online and the estimated times till new stock arrives keep getting pushed back?

are Toshiba replacing this model with one just a good? i.e. i5 CPU and decent ATI graphics?

Answer:Satellite Pro L500-1VT - not on stock anywhere?

Hi

As far as I know the Satellite Pro L500-1VT is available ONLY in Italy and UK.
If you are leaving somewhere else, then you would need to search for another Pro L500 model with the same hardware specifications.

I?m sure some online dealers would offer similar Pro L500 models?

Having just purchased a laptop as above I am faced with the question of what speed DVD to use.
The John Lewis PC after sales help service advised me that times 16 DVD's sometimes cause trouble and that I should seek X8 and use these if possible although they say they are now almost as rare a hens teeth. The say that a X16 may be OK but X8 would be more reliable.

I have not booted up my laptop yet as am awaiting supply of X8 that I located on Ebay as advised DVD-R NOT + should be used. I note that the disc tray is marked Rewritable + leading to more confusion.

Will make copy of operating software when the X8 are received and not before.

Any advise or observations would be most appreciated

Answer:Satellite L500-19X -What speed DVD's should I use?

Since long time I always use the same DVDs and I have never, but really never noticed some burning problems, especially not creating recovery medias.
I use TDK DVD-R 1-16x speed empty medias.

Last week I bought a brand new Satellite L 500 laptop with Inter i3 processor, 1 GB ATI graphic card, 4 GB ram, etc.
Everything is OK in general, however, I find the fan to be very very noisy.

I used to own a HP Pavillion laptop and could hardly notice the fan while with my new laptop the fan noise is really loud.
Does anybody know if this is normal or if this could be fixed somehow?

I researched the internet for a solution but I could not find any and apparently nobody is complaining about the fan noise on L 500 laptops so perhaps it is me only that have this problem?

Thanks.

Stefano

Answer:Satellite L500 and Fan Noise

For optimal notebook usage use ?Balanced? power plan. Go to advanced settings for this plan and in Toshiba power saver you can find ?Cooling method? option.
Reduce the level there. I am pretty sure notebooks fan will be much quieter than before.

Answer:Need installations CD for Satellite L500-245

If you use original OS that you got with your notebook you can create new recovery DVD using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator software.
You can also try to reinstall original recovery image using HDD recovery option - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If not than you must order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I don't find the model L500-1ET and its drivers. Is this model XP compatible?

Answer:Re: Satellite L500-1ET - Is it XP compatible?

Hi willy,

As far as I know the Satellite L500-1ET belongs to the PSLJTE series and therefore you can find all driver on the Toshiba page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

I have checked this and it seems that your model is XP compatible. You can download all drivers for XP. :)

I see that I have three Primary partitions already made on this new L500 ~
1.) 2GiB /dev/hda1 for Toshiba Recovery,
2.) 330+GiB (C:) for Vista and 3.) 12GiB /dev/hda3 ???.

I need to dual boot two windows installations and use and extended partition for Linux and Storage.

What is the third partition for and can I configure things so that I can save it within a Logical Partition ?

My aim is:

/dev/hda1 = Toshiba Recovery
/dev/hda2 = Vista
/dev/hda3 = Windows 7 ~ RC7
/dev/hda4 = Extended for all others ( including Linux, the 12GiB existing and a common storage space as well.)

Any suggestions or thoughts before I dive in ?

Regards, SnapafunFrank

Answer:Satellite L500 - What is the third partition on HDD?

Hi

The third partition belongs to Vista.
Vista creates two partitions; one a usual partition to install system and the second hidden partition for backup files. These backup files are important for Vista. Vista needs it to repair the OS if something will go wrong?

So it?s strongly recommended to leave this partition on the HDD?
