Satellite P300-1AO - Can't enter my user profile - forgot password

Question: Satellite P300-1AO - Can't enter my user profile - forgot password

i haven?t used my toshiba Satellite P300-1AO for more than half a year since I am having a new laptop.
Now I need to grab some data from the satellite but I can?t coz I forgot my user password.

And I am probably too dumb to reset is, because after inserting both an empty CD and after connecting a USB Stick the computer says that CD/ USB Stick can?t be used for resetting the password. What am I doing wrong?

I need the data from that thing and the more I am waiting the more I am getting nuts...

Can anybody please help me?

Thanks in advance,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite P300-1AO - Can't enter my user profile - forgot password

Timo if you can obtain ?2,5? AluminumSATA HDD Enclosure? connect HDD from your P300 to another PC as external device. On this way you will be able to have full access to all saved data.

After doing this put the HDD back and install original recovery image or Win7 32bit. It works perfectly on P300.

i forgot the user password for Satellite P100-313. Can i remove the password without professional help. Please help me.

Answer:Forgot User Password for Satellite P100-313

Hi Lukas,

If it is the BIOS password that you have forgotten then you will need to take your notebook to an Authorised Service Agent to have the BIOS reset.

If it is just your userid password in Windows that you have forgotten then you can boot into SAFE mode and use the 'administrator' account to reset your own password. Just press F8 during the boot sequence to get the option to boot into SAFE node.

I have a problem with regular Enter key and numeric enter key. In Adobe InDesign regular enter is used for paragraph return and numeric enter for frame or column/page/frame break. So... on my Satellite P300 eith a NumLock On both enter keys work as Numeric Enter key, so there is no plane old Parahraph return.

And with NumLock OFF Numeric Enter key still works as Numeric enter key, and regular Enter key doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

Answer:Enter/Numeric Enter key functionality on Satellite P300

I would try a BIOS update.

If that doesn't work, then you should get an ASP (authorized service provider) to have a look.
I remember reading somewhere that they can use a utility to set the screen size to 17" which fixes Numpad problems. However this utility is only available to ASP's.

As of today, in our domain environment consisting of Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Enterprise machines, we are experiencing the "User Profile service failed the sign-in - User profile cannot be loaded" error message whenever a user tries to login.
This only affects users new to the particular machine. If they have signed on before and already have a cached account the computer logs them in with no issue. This is occurring on both Win8.1 and Win7 machines. We are an academic institution so this is becoming
a huge problem in our labs. Students generally use different computers so this is popping up very frequently. I have a solution for the issue. It appears that on the non-working machines that the "Default" user profile is corrupt. I have discovered
that if I find a machine, Win8.1 or Win7, doesn't matter, that is allowing first time users to logon I can copy the "Default" user profile and replace the corrupt one. I must first permanently delete the corrupt profile before copying over the new
one. I am doing this over the network by navigating the C:\users\ folder. Even this way is becoming cumbersome though as we have over 1000 computer in labs. I have googled and googled and I keep seeing the same answers offering various solutions, none which
are any more practical than my method. I cannot find information on a cause or a reason of why this would just crop up out of nowhere. I suspect maybe a Windows update but I cannot verify that yet. ... Read more

A few weeks ago, I don't recall exactly when, Windows Vista on my Satellite P300-225 started to pass an incorrect scancode to applications when the ?Enter? key is pressed. It always sends the scancode of the ?Keypad Enter? key, even when I hit the one in the alphanumeric part of the keyboard. It did work correctly some time ago, but suddenly, it just started acting like this. No remapping of any keys.

Since there are quite a few programs that act different on these two keys, this has become quite an annoying issue.

The strangest part of it is, that the problem seems to be somehow related to Windows Vista, since the keys are correctly reported on Linux.

If anybody has a clue, please, let me know.

Answer:Strange issue with "Enter" key in Vista on Satellite P300-225

hi koniiiik,
i am not familiar with keymapping in vista but as you said it: "under linux everthing works correctly" and the issue is appearing only in vista.
to me it sounds like re-installing Vista....
or to deinstall the keyboard in recovery mode and check if vista reinstalls it correctly.
or a program is corrupting the code table....

Answer:Older Dell desk top forgot password to enter system

Most Dell desktop systems have a jumper on the mainboard that clears the password (power off, remove jumper, power on, power off and replace the jumper).   On just about every Dell made in the last 15+ years it's the only jumper on the mainboard -  if you need more information, we'll need to know what model system you have.

My grandmother was recently hacked and she changed all her passwords herself (yay!). However she did not write down her new local user account password for her laptop.

I tried downloading OPHCrack, I burned it as an ISO file and put it on a DVD-R(only thing I had on hand) and i changed the boot order on her BIOS menu to had the DVD drive as the first priority. It does not run....I hear the disk drive moving, or spinning but the program does not run. Are there any other options or do I have to do a complete system restore to bypass this? Also if that is what I have to do how do I do that without being in her control panel?

Hi all,

We are having a real issue with local profiles / user profile service on our domain.
Our staff accounts are using local profiles. When a staff member changes their password something is happening to their profiles on the machines that their local profile is stored. When they try to login the machine is getting stuck at "Please wait for
the user profile service....". It never continues, we have left for 30 mins or more and it doesn't continue.

We are currently having to use delprof2 to remove their profiles from ALL machines they have previously logged into which is a lot of hassle.

We first noticed this issue when we upgraded our workstations from windows 7 to windows 8.
I was hoping that upgrading to windows 8.1 would fix the issue but sadly it doesn't. This is causing us major hassle on our domain.

It only affects people with local profiles... our students use mandatory profiles and they are not affected.

Our DCs are 2012 R2.

I have trawled google but cannot find any information on this. At our yearly microsoft meeting i asked our regional account manager and he couldn't believe the issue. He had never heard anything like this before.

From the event log, the only thing i can see is that it is not finishing the load of the user profile.
Under user profile service events it shows this:

Event 1: Recieved user logon notification on session 2.
Event 2: Registry file C:\Users\USERNAME\ntuser.dat is loaded at ... Read more

I forgot my user account log-on password. How can I get my computer to boot into my operating system? I am running Windows XP Home Edition on an older HP Vectra VL. Is there a work around for this? What would happen if I disconnected the power for several days, would this wipe out the memory of the User Account?

Answer:I Forgot my User Log-On Password

If you disconnect the power for several days, your computer will be the same as the password is encrypted and stored for windows.

You can reset it however

For example, by using google and searching for "offline nt password"
the return is a variety of "XP Hacks" out there to allow you to reset your password. **Cant supply you with the link because its too close to violation of rules on this forum, thats probably all the help your going to get here.....

Answer:I forgot user password

Hi, If you want to perform a factory reset, you won't need to bypass the log-in password. The notebook will have shipped with a Recovery Partition which can be accessed at boot - ie shutdown the notebook, then start tapping away at f11 as soon as you power on. A full guide on this can be found on the following link. Regards, DP-K

I was using Vista as my main OS for several months, then installed XP on a second drive because I couldn't get some random program to work under vista.

I used them side by side regularly, until I eventually found myself using XP solely.

I just tried to load up Vista for the first time in a couple months, and *gasp* the password I thought I had it set to is incorrect.

So ya, I went through the usual - trying to remember the password and such, no luck.

I made a password reset disk with a usb drive a few months back, but I can't find the damn thing!

With XP, I have always just had the "Administrator" user enabled but not shown on the login screen, and set the password to my main password that I use for a lot of things and shall never ever ever forget. So in the case that I do forget my XP user pass, I can just hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice on the login screen, type in "Administrator" and the main password and then reset the other username's password once logged in as Administrator.

Vista is to uptight to allow anything like this... so what the hell am I supposed to do?

I didn't have file encryption on, so I can access all of the files on the Vista drive through XP, but I'd still like to have my OS (all tweaked, customized, and fine tuned with programs and such installed) back.

Oh, and I have absolutely no faith in password cracking utilities. The password was most likely several characters and included numbers and mixed caps. ... Read more

Unfortunately we don?t know anything about your notebook.
Have you set BIOS password or you have bought already used and blocked notebook?

Anyway what are you missing is BIOS password. It is security feature and you cannot do anything about it. It must be removed by Toshiba service provider.

Connect an external USB keyboard and check if you can type the HDD password.
Usually if you know the HDD password, the usage of external USB keyboard should function?

Could it be possible that your internal keyboard is faulty?

Somehow I have forgotten my password for my user account. Honestly I don't remember ever making one but nowadays I tend to forget plenty. For those wondering how I could have forgotten the password I haven't used my computer in almost 6 months.

I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried every password I've ever used and to no avail.

Then I used ctrl alt del to go into the other login screen and to login as administrator but that didn't work either. I tried "administrator" with no password, then "administrator" with "admin" as password, then "administrator" with passwords I frequently use. Nothing. Computer says check user name/domain/password.

Iam wondering: when I go into this login screen the "user name" window is already filled in with "photekxl," a handle that I frequently use (as you see here). If the window is already filled in does that mean I definitely have an account with that name, even though I don't remember the password?

Also tried "guest" with no pass and it says my guest account has been removed and to "contact the system administrator." Funny.

Please tell me there is a way to get into my files as a guest or something without having to login somewhere? Boot from a CD? Hack into it somehow? I have lots of school and work related files that I simply can't lose so reinstalling is not an option unless it's the only one. PLEASE HELP!!! Appreciate the responses.

I purchased my 9 year old daughter a pink 1525 and she has figured out how to create a password and mom told her
not to now she cant remember what it is and you turn on the computer and thats as far as you get is her user name and password.
Can I reset the computer back to its factory settings ? There is nothing on it to lose .

Answer:My daughter has forgot what her user password is on her laptop

It depends on where the password is set.  If it's a Windows password, a system restore to factory will clear the problem.  CTRL-F11 at the Dell screen (XP) or F8 before Windows loads (Vista) will get you in.
If it's a power on (BIOS) password, that can only be removed by calling Dell, proving ownership, and being issued the system-specific master password.  If the system is in warranty, the call is free.  If it's out of warranty, a standard $50 support call fee applies.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

I bought a P300 from Carphone Warehouse years ago as my first laptop but because I'm not well versed in computer things, I thought that it had broken resulting in me buying a new acer laptop.

Yesterday I found the laptop and tried to turn it on with a spare charger and found out that it wasn't the laptop that was broken but the actual charger wire was damaged so it worked yesterday but when I tried to turn it on this morning it asked me for an 8 digit password in a blue box.

After 3 incorrect ones it would shut down.
I was told by a friend that it's a bios password and I was hoping if anyone knows the password because I threw the manual away back in 2007.

Thank you in advance!

Answer:Satellite P300-1A8 - requests password when turning on

BIOS password is individual password and not some ?standard? password that you can find in user?s manuals or any other official document.
Someone has set this password and notebook is ?locked? now.
All you can do is to visit authorized Toshiba service provider and let them remove this password.

I have a Dell laptop that I haven't rebooted in months so when it shut itself off ( b/c battery died) I not longer remembered the password for Windows (Win7). I tried too many passwords and apparently shut off the account b/c when I obtained the password (my hubby remembered it) it not longer worked.

I looked up for ways to reset the password. I managed to boot the laptop from a Macrium recovery disk & open a command prompt. First, on the menu that allows you to change boot order, I also set a password for the admin (it had not been set before).

So now I'm logged in as admin from the CD and opened a command window. Now resetting the user password for the account called "owner" should be cake. However, is not b/c the username account seems to be missing: when I type "net users" I only get two accounts: guest and admin. No trace of the user account called "owner" which is the only one I ever used!
"I also get an error "The command completed with one or more errors"

I read that that may be b/c the account got somehow corrupted. Does anyone know how to tell if the user account is corrupted? Any guidance for how to recover the account & it's password?

Answer:Forgot password. Tried too many times &Locked account. Now user gone!

Hello, I am trying to sort out a friends laptop, Fujutsu/Siemens Amilo, running Vista home Premium, she has no idea what has gone wrong, and frankly, neither do I, upon power up Vista displays the error recovery screen, listing: safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt and start Windows normally I click on 'Start Windows Normally', the login screen is displayed with an administrator account and two user accounts but when clicking on any of them there is no password entry box, therefore the system cannot accept any login, using safe mode has the same result, the on-screen shut down button does not work either. All ideas will be gratefully accepted.
Thank You.

When I turn on my laptop it is telling me enter primary master HDD user password.

Answer:enter primary master HDD user password

If you have recently acquired this laptop contact the original owner and find out what the password is. If that is not possible, contact the manufacturer and ask them to help you and be prepared to show proof of ownership.Hard disk passwords on laptops are a security measure because laptops can be so easily stolen. They cannot be removed by conventional means as the hard disk is tied to a chip on the motherboard which needs to be reprogrammed. Only the manufacture can do that.Stuart

So recently one of the teacher's dropped off a laptop from our wireless cart ( Acer TravelMate 3260 Windows XP) saying it was popping up with some error. When I turned it it loaded to a screen saying: "Enter Primary Master HDD Password [ ]"

I can't get it to boot from any cd's,, I cant re-image it and I pretty much cannot do anything with it at all.

Any idea how I resolve this issue? I did a quick google and one post said to contact the Acer manufacturer for the password so I called and they no longer do free support for laptops no longer under warrenty and I was directed to the website. I tryed the email support and got the same answer asking me to call there pay service which is 60 dollars for 30 minutes lol f-that.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. I pondered removing the cmos battery too see if that would clear the message but I wanted to see if there was another way before I have to take it all apart.

Answer:Enter Primary Master HDD User password

I've never heard of a way around that one, you won't even be able to slave it to get the data off of it with a HD password. The teacher would HAVE to know the password though otherwise they couldn't use it. Someone had to manually enter that p/w

I set up windows home server for my family about 1 or 2 weeks ago, and we have just been getting to grips with it. The first time i connected to the shared documents, on all computers, it asked for a username and password. The files i needed to set things up were in a locked area (specificly), so i entered the Admin logon. Now i have finished with that, how do i re-enter the username and password, so i can enter the individual accounts that can only view their documents, and not everybody elses.

Also, while i'm here: On Windows Home server, how do i view/restore/copy files from the backups?

Answer:hard disk locked, enter user password

for Linux

Linux unlock

For those of us using Linux, we have written an isd200 driver patch for unlocking the disk. This modified driver will automatically unlock the disk when you connect your Archos via USB, so you don't have to do anything special. Apply the patch to a 2.4.18 linux kernel tree.
Still locked?

If the above suggestions don't work, here's some background info about the disk lock feature:

The disk lock is a built-in security feature in the disk. It is part of the ATA specification, and thus not specific to any brand or device.

A disk always has two passwords: A User password and a Master password. Most disks support a Master Password Revision Code, which can tell you if the Master password has been changed, or it it still the factory default. The revision code is word 92 in the IDENTIFY response. A value of 0xFFFE means the Master password is unchanged.

A disk can be locked in two modes: High security mode or Maximum security mode. Bit 8 in word 128 of the IDENTIFY response tell you which mode your disk is in: 0 = High, 1 = Maximum.

In High security mode, you can unlock the disk with either the user or master password, using the "SECURITY UNLOCK DEVICE" ATA command. There is an attempt limit, normally set to 5, after which you must power cycle or hard-reset the disk before you can attempt again.

In Maximum security mode, you cannot unlock the disk! The only way to get the disk back to a usable st... Read more

It is not so simply as you think. If BIOS password must be reset it must be done by authorized service and you must also prove that your notebook belongs to you.
As far as I know there are different techniques for BIOS password removal. I don?t know which one will be used for your notebook but fact is that they will not tell you this so simply at phone or mail.
You must bring your notebook to the service.

Answer:Satellite A300D-18H - Forgot Log-In password of Vista

There are ways to reset the password to a blank password. I dont think Toshiba would allow us to post tools like this on the forum, so have a search in google.

Another solution would be to attach the HDD to another PC using a USB Adapter, copy your documents and other important files, then put the HDD back in and run Recovery, and then copy back your documents/files.

I have noted a number of threads mentioning this issue but cannot see the precise solution I need.

I have networked two (and sometimes three) XP PCs and one Win 7 Home Premium 64 PC on a wired domestic network. File sharing is fine, except that I have to enter the Win 7 user name and password before opening Win 7 folders from the XP machines.

Previously I had a Vista laptop hooked to the XP machines. I didn't need to provide user name and password on my XP PCs once I had decided to remove them on the laptop. Vista obviously varies from Win 7 in this regard.

I have tried the frequent suggestion that I use the same user name and password on all machines. I then didn't need to provide these between the PCs, except that I needed to enter them every time I booted up a XP machine (but not the Win 7 PC, where it is easy to allow everyone to boot up without identification). I certainly didn't want XP bootup to halt at the Welcome screen.

I have seen the suggestion that I use 'control userpasswords2' to ensure password-free bootup on XP PCs, but I have been bitten by this routine before and don't really want to experiment with it if I can avoid it.

The strangest thing is that when I decided to remove my user name and password from the Win 7 PC I did manage to get password-free access to the Win 7 PC from the XP PCs but the Win 7 PC then couldn't see the XP PCs at all.

Anyone got a quick fix allowing me to get access to all network files without getting that annoying popup ... Read more

Answer:Network file sharing without evehaving to enter user name and password

Try this:

1) All Pcs on the network should be in the same workgroup, you probably already have this in place.

2) In win7 advanced sharing settings, set password protected sharing to OFF.

3) Specify what you want to share either by dragging the specific folders to Public Folder or by right clicking on the specific folder and checking the Share this folder box.

4) Now because password protected sharing is off, you need to give Everyone access on the shared folders by setting the permissions. Right click on the shared folders and allow Everyone, you can adjust read, write etc.

When I tried to log on to administrator account on vista laptop this morning I got the following error massage "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I did some research and found a potential solution: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

However the problem is that the solution needs a working administrartor account and the only account I'm able to log in is a standard one with no power to change account type or boot into admin safe mode/ do a command prompt whatsoever.

Would anyone happen to have an alternative solution that doesn't require an admin account to fix this?

Admin account worked fine on Monday.  The kid used her (non-admin) account in the meantime.  Now it won't log into the admin account - "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."  I've read a few other boards on this issue, so I am now doing a thorough virus scan and will include results as soon as they're available.  But I am not confident about moving forward with any of the paths I've seen laid out, and some of them don't apply if you can't access the admin account anyway, so I wanted to start a thread here (I've gotten fabulous help here several times before).  It's running Vista Home Premium SP2.  AVG 2013 Internet Security.  Can't think what other specs may be relevant, but am happy to provide whatever would be of use.  Thanks!!

Answer:User Profile svc failed logon. User profile can't be loaded." on admin acct.

I got the same message when attempting to login on Windows 7, after no previous problems or changes before shutdown the night before. It continued to loop back to the logon screen even after rebooting. I ended up having to log on in Safe Mode, then do a system restore to restore back to the last restore point, which was a system checkpoint a couple of days earlier. That fixed it, and I've had no problems since. I hope that helps.

It is an HP computer that my brother brought over because it wouldn't boot. It was giving me a "bootmgr is compressed" message. So I got my Vista repair disc and uncompressed his drive. That got rid of that message but then it was giving me winload.exe errors. So I fixed that and FINALLY it booted up but when I clicked on his user account to log on, I get this error message. I have searched for answers. I came across a fix where you edit the registry if there is a duplicate entry in the profiles section but there isn't an extra one. I can boot into safe mode but I get no administrative tools, no ability to see the event viewer or manage users (idk if this is normal). I did a command I found to make the default administrator account active or something like that, and now when it boots up, there is his user account, and an admin user. If I click his user to log on, I get the error message. If I click the admin account, it loads, but it loads telling me the Vista copy is not genuine.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Why is the admin account telling me Vista is not genuine? Thank you.

Hey guys,
The User Profile SERVICE *service failed the sign-in - User profile cannot be loaded
Made an error in the title
I'm getting this error when trying to sign onto a 2012 VM server.
I'm able to log onto other servers on the domain but this one.
It seems to be working for everyone else on the team to me.
I googled it and it says that my profile may be corrupt however I've never logged onto the server before so my profile never got created.

Any ideas?

OS: Windows XP v2002 Professional SP3
1) I restored the computer system as I had lost everything stored in the old user profile.
2) A NEW USER PROFILE: 'mlinda" is created with the correct domain attached to it (eg. CAA MAU) and is fully restored.
3) The OLD USER PROFILE "m.linda" remains in the documents and settings BUT
- the domain is of a local computer (eg. SPARXX) and it no longer works with the (eg. CAA MAU) domain
4) The original "m.linda" user profile contains almost nothing in it (no documents etc)
5) m.linda is still listed in the userlist in computer management BUT NOT THE NEW mlinda
6) In administrator mode, I dont't see ALL the contents of the newly restored profile
How do I change user profile "mlinda" (that has successfully retored everthing) back to "m.linda" since the new profile has everything intact:

1) How do I safely delete the newly restored "mlinda" and ensure everything is back to normal with the OLD USER PROFILE: m.linda?

2) How to ensure that the correct domain name is attached to the profile, by transferring all the data from THE NEW mlinda (eg. domain: CAA MAU) to THE OLD m.linda (that currently has a local computer domain: SPARXX). User profile, m.linda has to be attched to domain: CAA MAU.

3) Should I be backing up before eventhough the new mlinda is in super condition?

4) I read in forums that the links to desktop can be lost by transfering. How do I retain it?... Read more

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-11Y laptop and have a problem. A day, I decided that wanted to set a supervisor password for the bios of the laptop. Now, I remeber this password, but when I entry to the BIOS setup, I can't view any option for change o disable this password. I can't entry this password for set it me a supervisor, and also I can't modify some options as for exemple, the boot sequence.

How can I delete this password or how can I login as supervisor? I don't see any option for it, and I need to modify the boot sequence.

A lot of thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro S300 - How to enter supervisor password?

About this I can only say check your user manual!!! ;)

There I have founded the following information:
+C:\Program Files\Toshiba\PassowrdUtility\TOSPU.exe+
+This utility lets you do the following:+
+Register, delete or change the supervisor password+
+Create or invalidate a supervisor password token+

Check this and then you should be able to delete the password if you know the current.
