Preferred Solution: My Satellite P300-1A8 is not recognised by Toshiba website

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Hello,

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

I got a Satellite P300-20R now I want to update the drivers video card - ATi HD4650.

Can I use the latest Catalyst for the mobility card that I find on the AMD/ATi web site and what is the procedure?

Answer:Satellite P300-20R - Can I use the latest AMD/ATI website drivers?

Toshiba drivers are tested and adapted for certain graphic card. Toshiba driver will not ?force? graphic card to run on highest level and therefore protect notebook from overheating.

On my Satellite P300 I use Windows 7 32bit and Toshiba driver. It runs stabile and I?m happy with it.

To be honest I don?t want to use ATI driver and unfortunately cannot give you proper answer to your question.

Can you please tell us which operating system do you use and which driver version you want to install?

Answer:Satellite P300 - Where to find Toshiba tools?

Hi sam2149,

It?s no problem to get the Toshiba tools again. You don?t need TEMPRO to download all tools, just visit the Toshiba website and download all drivers and tools that you want:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

All available downloads for your model can be found here.

I have a problem setting My Toshiba manager password in the Toshiba Assistant Utility or software.

Answer:Satellite P300 - Cannot set password in Toshiba Assistant Utility

Hi

Maybe you could post more details?
What password do you want to set?

As far as I know the Toshiba Assist -> Secure tab provides two passwords:
Supervisor password and User password

The Supervisor password can be set in Toshiba Assist -> Secure tab -> Supervisor Password Utility
The User password can be set in Toshiba HWSetup -> Password tab

Hi, on my P300 (although I suspect it will be on all models), there is an application "Program Files\Toshiba\TBS\Backlight.exe"

And I am wondering what it does, and how (if anything).
Running it normally, or as admin does nothing.

Thanks

As I?m not mistaken this backlight.exe controls the LED illumination.
You know; it's the button and touchpad light.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P300 1Ci and when I play a DVD with Toshiba DVD player I get an error saying:" kan de video niet naar een extern apparaat uitvoeren. controleer de instelling van de externe uitgang nadat u de toepassing hebt beeindigd" or in my best english: can't execute the video to an extern device. Check your configuration of the external port after you have terminated this proces.

anyone can help me?

Answer:Satellite P300 - Toshiba DVD player doesn't play DVD

Hi,

Are you trying to watch a DVD on external monitor? Or can you explain what you mean with external device?
Maybe the application must be reinstalled. You can download it on the Toshiba website.

I don?t use Toshiba DVD player so I think I can?t help you but I use VLC media player to watch DVD?s. It?s a small video player that can play the most audio and video files. It?s really nice tool and freeware. You should try it too! ;)

Hi,

recently I had installed Windows 7 64Bit version and now I cannot find all the Toshiba Utilites that I had, when I bought the Laptop opererting with originaly Vista.

Please can someone help me.

Thanks In advance.

Answer:Cannot find Toshiba Utilities for Satellite P300 Win 7 64bit

Hi

May I ask you why you are looking for this ?Toshiba Utilities??
Are some notebook features no available?

In my opinion you don?t need Toshiba Utilities if you are using Win 7.
I have installed Win 7 and everything what I needed, was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains some tools and utilities.
If you want to use FN keys, then you should install additionally Toshiba Flash Cards Utility? such utility is not released for all notebooks models? so try to install such tool released for example for; Toshiba Satellite L500

Hello everyone,

I wasn't very clever of placing continiously my laptop on the floor, which lead to me stepping on it the other day and now I have a broken screen. It still works, but there are colored cracks..
I contacted Toshiba to check about the cost of such a repair and I was told that the price of the screen only will be more than 300? + the work and all will make it about 400?.
I also contacted a local computer shop and they said that a non genuine Toshiba screen will cost 160? + work.

My question here is: Can I by myself the screen on the internet and does it take any special skills to mount it on the laptop? I have just a bit more than basic skills in repairing elecronics and I suppose I will be able to change it, if it doesn't take any special skills or tools..
And as well, what screen should I buy? A genuine Toshiba one or a less expensive one also does its job?
The brand and the model of the laptop are: Toshiba Satellite P300 - 1G6 - 17"

Thanks in advance for all eventual responses!
Regards,
Nicolas

Why? What is wrong there? What have you done? Usually something like this cannot happen for no reason.
Have you tried to update BIOS or what?

What happen exactly when you press power button?
Try to remove RAM and HDD and try it again.

This is a cut and paste of a previous post, but one which I am having a problem with today (saves me typing it out again!) :

When I start my laptop, it stops on he Toshiba leading innovation screen and only provides the option to do one of two things. This is what it says at the bottome of the page *"Press F2 to enter Setup, F12 to enter Multiboot Selection Menu"* I have tried both. I pressed F2, I've press F12 and neither one gets me pst the screen

- When I press either after the Toshiba screen is visible, they do nothing
- If I press the F2 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Please Wait". However, I waited for hours and nothing ever happened. The "please wait" message just sat there.
- If I press the F12 during boot up, the instruction at the bottom of the page says "Press F2 SETUP, Entering boot device selection menu....." Then it just sits there and does nothing
The Toshiba Leading Innovation screen remains the whole time.

I have tried removeing the battery and draining flea power - this does not resolve the issue.

When I restart the laptop, I get the situation as per line 1 above. No amount of tapping F8 does anything..I`m always back to the Toshiba leading Innovation page.

The fan is working but the HDD led never flickers.

Any suggestions please? Thanks

Anyone who can help me?

Answer:i have a problem with Toshiba satellite P300 Factory Default issue

Did you just hold F8 in on boot or were you continually tapping it ?

EDIT...Just read a link which advised to shut the laptop down twice and prior to the next boot, hold the 0 in and then switch on - this may give you the correct Recovery Menu

HI,

I need to make my recovery disc's for my Satellite P300 (PSPCCA-05V01Y) but the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working, as it is saying that there isnt a HDD Recover file on the pc.
I tried before, and it had a problem with the core files, saying it was corrupt.
So I was wondering if there is anyway I can download the HDD Recovery installation so that I can install it and bring it back to the 'factory state' and reburn the recovery disc's?
Cheers for any help
Mikey

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator isn't working on my Satellite P300

Hello Mikey

The situation is pretty complicated. When you got your notebook the recovery files was saved on second partition in ?HDDRecovery? folder. The second partitions and saved files should not be changed.

If you have done something with second partition or this folder Toshiba recovery creator cannot find these files and recovery media cannot be created. This will works with ?factory settings? only. but I see one other problem there.
Theoretically, you can now install OS again using HDD recovery installation procedure, and with factory state you should be able to create DVD but if the Toshiba recovery creator cannot find the files I am afraid the HDD recovery installation can have the same problem.

If you want you can test it. Try to start HDD recovery installation.

Hello everybody,

I bought a Windows 7 upgrade to Toshiba.

And I have 2 DVD :
1 for the Toshiba upgrade and 1 for the Windows upgrade.

I have run the 2 first steps without problems.

But when I have run the 3rd step (which is the upgrade of the Toshiba tools), an error occured and I wanted to cancel thee process (I have even removed the CD from the CD reader) but the process kept running.

In conclusion the process went to the end but no tools are installed and when I want to run the CD again it acts as if all the tools are already installed and it doesn't run.

What can I do for the system to consider that the tools are not installed ?

Or where can I find another install program which will run the Toshiba tools on my system ?

Thank you very much.

Laurent.

Hi guys,

Just want to find out how to get my computer to register the HDD2 (D: drive). I followed the provided instructions from Toshiba for downgrading to XP from Vista. The sheet said to select any option other than return to out of box state or maintain current partition. So I chose the only other option available.......which was remove the partition or something like that. Now I have 2 hard drives totalling 500Gb, but only one drive registers. What is the best way to sort this out......

Appreciate the help!!!

Hi

I have a new Satellite P300-156 which I have been using for about a month with no problems. It has been great.

This morning I had a message come up to install Toshiba Tempo which I did and all was fine until I restarted the laptop and now Vista wont start.
I have followed all the diagnostic tools, tried system restore etc... but still nothing.

I currently live in Italy, so is hard to take it into a computer repair shop as I dont speak Italian and the operating system is in english.

From what I can see my only option now is to do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery, but I would loose some data which I have done since my last backup. Is there any way to backup data to a usb storage device using command promts before I do this, or is there a simpler way out of this?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks
Keith

Answer:Satellite P300-156: Vista wont start after installation of Toshiba Tempo

Hi

Well, this is really strange issue?

What you could do is to press the F8 button immediately after notebook starting.
This would enable a menu with ?Advanced Boot Options?.

There you could choose the option called ?Last known good configuration (advanced)?.

Please check this option. I this is your last opportunity to boot up the notebook and to start the Vista without using the Recovery CD.

If it's not being recognized in the bios, then re-check to be sure it's inserted into the drive bay fully and connected. If the bios still can't recognize this ssd then there may be something wrong with it

Hello,
I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to upgrade my drivers, so I connected myself on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my laptop is not referenced on the site, there are well *M70-168* and *M70-170* but not *M70-169*
I tried the reconnaissance by serial number, result: NOT RECOGNIZED

I tested the autod?tection, and there too, the result was: NOT RECOGNIZED.
I am astonished that my laptop is not recognized on the official site of TOSHIBA, whereas I had bought it in a store.

Somebody can tell me if he had the same problem, and give me the indications in order to upgrade my laptop?

Thank you

Answer:Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

Satellite M70 is pretty old notebook model and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn?t work properly. Your notebook is European model and has part number PSM70E (very important for search).
Anyway you can find all drivers or updates manually. Please do it as follow:

Visit Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
Choose follow options:
Product type - ARCHIVE
Family - SATELLITE
Product series - SATELLITE M SERIES
Model - SATELLITE M70 (PSM70)
Short Model No - PSM70E
Operating system - your OS

And all available stuff will be listed there.

If you have more questions let us know.

lan-sa100-psaa-xp-8021101

lan-sa100-psaa-xp-9025

I unzipped each of these and can only find a PROUnstl.exe file, which un-installs any existing drivers; I cannot find a "Setup.exe" or anything that sets up either of my wired or wireless networking cards. I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Is there anywhere I can get a driver that has an easier to use "install.exe" file in it?

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. If autoetection doesn?t work you can find it manually but not using model name but model part number. Your U500-1DR has part number PSU9ME-xxxxx so please check Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and check for Satellite U500 with part number or short model number PSU9ME.

Can you find it?

Hi

I believe i need to update video drivers on my Toshiba laptop (it's a Satellite A660, but I don't think that's relevant).

I have tried to use the downloads page on the Toshiba website: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/download. It gives me no response, no list of products, nothing, whether I try to use the drop-down lists or enter my laptop's part number directly.
And it does the same using another laptop too.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there another way to get to product downloads?

thanks,
Simon.

Answer:Can't access drivers for Satellite A660 on Toshiba support website

Hi

What Satellite A660-xxx do you have exactly?
Drivers for all Toshiba European notebook models can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page:

Hi there,

I bought my laptop 3 weeks ago, model: Toshiba Satellite A500 PSAR9A- 02s001
I bought it in Australia but i cannot find any driver support on www.toshiba.com.au.

Any help?

Answer:Cannot find my model Satellite A500 PSAR9A-02s001 on Toshiba website

Hi

This seems to be an Australian notebook series?
I?m not quite sure why it?s not listed on the Australian page but if you need the drivers then you can try to use the driver from the Toshiba European driver page as well?

There is an Satellite A500 PSAR9E series which is similar (or same???).
In my opinion the Win 7 drivers should work too.

Odd issue. Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number. Has anyone encounted that? I assume alpha characters are upper case. Serial number is 9 characters long with alpha characters at either end of string.
Bizarre.
Has anyone had problems registering their laptops?

Answer:Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number of Satellite A215-S7428

Wait a moment my friend. On which Toshiba website you try to do this? I hope you do not try to register non-European notebook model on European support page.

Am I right or you really try to do this? As far as I know you have an US notebook model.

Hello,

My Toshiba P300-13M is running hot, and I want to clean it but I am not really good in disassembling (too scared I'll break stuff). But I heard some people put a vacuum cleaner on the side to clean out the fan.

But I also read you can open the notebook by taking screws out and using canned air to clean the heatsink and the fans.

Does anybody have this notebook and who can tell me how to do this step-by-step... because the guides I read were for other Toshiba notebooks (similar one's though).

Thanks!

Answer:Toshiba P300-13m running hot

you can try using the compressed air to clean out the vents with the laptop as it is. a little bit of dust buildup isn't going to make your computer run significantly hotter... unless it's affecting how fast the fan is spinning under load. i wouldn't attempt to disassemble the computer if you're not confident you can put it back together without breaking anything. a lot of laptops need to come apart a certain way or components can be damaged. aside from that, most modern laptop computers run warm to start with... and most are build to handle the heat.

Been trying for 2 days to upgrade my sister's Toshiba Satellite P300, model PSPCCC-0K501C laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 10 home 64 bit.
It always stops at 32% and 5% of installing features and drivers. I've tried using the upgrade wizard, Windows update and directly from the media creation tool. They all fail at the same place. Her DVD drive doesn't work so I can't try that but I did use the media creation tool to make a USB install disk drive. I removed the DVD hardware and the wifi card incase they were causing the issue and ran the install from USB, it stuck again at 32% and 5% of installing features and drivers. When I reboot Windows 7 is restored.
This morning I tried another install after running msconfig, hiding all Microsoft services, unchecking everything on Startup and Services tabs and it stopped at the same place.

I know it is not on the Toshiba supported list but does that mean Toshiba won't provide support or that the laptop will just not accept a Windows 10 installation? Has anyone successfully upgraded one of these or is this planned obsolescence?
Does anyone have any other ideas?

I've tried searching for this issue but have come up empty, apologies if I've missed it somehow.
A friend has a P300 (Vista Home Premium) with a DS8A4S slimline DVD drive. It plays commercial audio CDs just fine, but does not recognise DVDs at all. By that I mean that when a DVD is put in the drive, it does not show up at all - select the drive and the message comes up "please insert a disc into drive D". Also, when I put a a CD full of MP3s that I'd burned into the drive, "Properties" reported that the disc was empty, when on my own machine (Win7 Pro 64), it correctly shows as full. I also tried a commercially produced MP3 disc, one I bought from Amazon.com, and it played just fine. There are no warnings in Device Manager, selecting Driver Update brings up a message that the driver is already up to date. I was thinking that perhaps it's not a mechanical issue, since it does read and play some discs. Any suggestions will be very gratefully received. Thanks!

Answer:Toshiba P300 DVD drive issue

Did you try cleaning out the drive? Old remedy, take a Q-tip and brush it on the laser inside the casing. Normally can reach through CD tray.

If that didn't work, yeah, I'd say the drive is bad. Just get a cheap one off eBay.

Ive got a Toshiba P300 150 and i need the product recovery disc. I am not able to get to my desktop to create one.

Can some help, i got this laptop yesterday and i made a terrible mistake by putting a Toshiba P200 Product Recovery disc in the new laptop which is the reason why i messed it up.

If anyone has this laptop i would be so grateful if you would make me a copy.

I cannot purchase one until 7th Jan because Toshiba's site (uk) is doen until then.

If anyone has this laptop please email me

Answer:Toshiba P300 150 Product Recovery Disc

I don't have that particular computer and don't know if this will work for you. Try pressing the F8 key while powering up the computer from a cold start. This may bring up a screen to let you restore the computer to factory fresh conditions. The recovery is done from a hidden partition on the hard drive.

I have a Toshiba Equim P300-16T running windows vista home premium 32 bit It has 4 usb ports which work with a mouse or printer. When I plug any usb flash drive into the usb port it says do you want to format the drive. All the flash drives work in any other machines. any size 512 mb 1 gig 2 gig they all work in other machines but not this Toshiba laptop. I have upgraded the bios to V4.20 the latest from Toshibas website. If I format the drive on this laptop it says cant complet the format I am at a loss to know what is causing this.

Answer:Toshiba Equim P300 + flash drives

What you should do is backup all of the files from your flash drive and then format it. Once you format it, you can copy the files back on -it should then work. You could also run scan disk on the drive. Also If your drive keeps asking to be formatted, just click no.

Hey,

Nice to hear that you got second hand Satellite P300 and welcome in forum!

Back to your problem:
You can order a recovery disk from Toshiba online. It?s not for free but it?s the easiest way to restore factory settings with Windows and all drivers/tools. Everything will work because you get pretested installation of all this stuff.

You can order it here:

i asked a friend and he said i could upgrade cpu ram fans harddrive plus to get a cheap cool pad it gets very hot but i could not change the video card or something he said i should ask here for help.

Answer:laptop parts upgrade toshiba p300-16t

Looking here http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.....do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=151271&DISC_MODEL=1
1.You have the maximum RAM the laptop supports.
2. Video in laptops is rarely changeable because it is a chip soldered on the motherboard, rather than a card you can remove.
3. I have two of these http://www.targus.com/us/productdet...d=12&bucketTypeId=0&searchedTerms=&navlevel1=
The mats do not steal one of my USB ports. There are crystals inside and the crystal absorb the heat and turn into a gel.

I can't help with cpu - not my area at all.

I'd also like to inquire, why do you feel the need to replace the harddrive?

Greetings, LorraineT.

Go to this site, plug in your operating system version and architecture (32- or 64-bit), choose 'Display Driver' from the 'Driver Type' list, then click 'Search'.

You should then be presented with a list of the Intel x3100 drivers for your machine - grab the newest version.

HI

Equium P300-190

When I try to run Radar, Window starts to configure Toshiba ConfigFree, but a message comes up sayiing the feature I am trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

It tells me to enter an alternate path to a folder contraining the installation package 'TOSHIBA ConfigFree.msi' but I can't find this file -
I have found the folder Toshiba ConfigFree but there's nothing in it.

I have tried searching for all files ending in .msi - to no avail.

Has anyone else had experience of this?

Answer:Toshiba Configfree.msi file missing - Equium P300-190

Hi

Why you don?t visit the Toshiba European river page and download the Toshiba ConfigFree tool.
Then remove the old ConfigFree from the operating system, reboot the notebook and reinstall the application again.

This should solve your issue.

I lost the product recovery disk for my P100, but I do have the disks for a P30 and P300, both of which are windows XP.

My P100 which my husband uses has become so slow that I feel I have to reload it. But when I tried starting up holding 0, F8 and F12 (one of them gave me a menu, I forget which), I couldn't find an option which allowed it to return to factory settings.

So I wonder if I can use one of the other product recovery disks on the P100? Would really appreciate advice. (I used to own a P30, and I still own a P300)

Answer:Can I use product recovery for Satellite P300 on Satellite P100?

Hello

Every single recovery image is designed for certain notebook model. Why?
Every notebook model has specific hardware infrastructure and also specific drivers are needed.

When you compare two different notebooks there are different CPUs, graphic card, modem, cam maybe and so on. So if you want to have properly working OS this will not work.

Hi,

Having just got my P300, i tried to create a backup using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator.
Having inserted a 4.7GB disk into the DVD drive, and backing up, when it was verifing, a message popped up saying:

"Failed to read the following file:

F:\blahblahblah
Error code: Blahblahblah
Failed to create Recovery DVD 1"

It is clear to me that there wasn't enough memory on the disk for it to complete. The disk size had also shrunk by about 0.5GB.

My main question is:
Do you need to use a DVD-R disk, or a DVD+R disk? Also, is a panasonic disk the best type of disk to use?

Please help.
Thanks, JoeC.

Answer:Satelite Pro P300: TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator error

It looks like Verify failed.

Ensure you are using a decent brand-name disc. TDK are good.

The cheap discs use cheap dyes, and have problems with some drives, and dont last long.

I recently was given a Toshiba 7020CT laptop running Win98. It came with a USB floppy drive, but not much else. It has 1 USB port, no internal CD or floppy drives, although it does have a 'dedicated' floppy connection port, but I wasn't given the original external drive. The USB floppy powers on at startup but remains dead afterwards (it does work as I've tried it on another PC). All I want to do is transfer a driver to the Laptop so I can use a USB FlashDrive to transfer some files. Unless anyone can suggest an alternative way to do this, can anyone help with the USB drive? Thanks!

Answer:Toshiba Laptop 98, USB floppy not recognised

Does the USB floppy work with another PC?Do other USB devices work with the laptop's USB port?If you can determine this, it will narrow down the possibilities a bit.

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 1GB Toshiba flash drive. When I plug it into my Acer Aspire 5610 laptop running Windows Vista, the device fails to be recognised by the computer most of the time (occasionally, usually after more than ten minutes, it will finally show up in My Computer and the AutoPlay menu will appear). But most of the time, it doesn't show up. All of the drivers seem to be up to date. What should I do? The drive itself works perfectly, as I've tried it in other computers (including another Acer Aspire laptop) and it's worked fine.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi there has anyone found out how to replace a Toshiba Equium Laptop Harddrive? The harddrive is exactly the same spec as the one its replacing (Hitachi 120Gig sata) When I try to use a Valid XP disc the windows installation software says no hard disc found? The harddrive is there in the bios in the main page, but in the security page there is a line called 'Built in HDD Password' with a space in brackets saying 'User only' Does this indicate some sort of password is required? If so could anyone please advise me where I might find such a thing? There is no help that I could find on the Toshiba home page on this matter...

Answer:Toshiba Equium Laptop Harddrive not recognised

Dont use a password...Is it a SATA HDD ? ? If so very early on in the Win re-install process there will be a prompt stating"Press F6 to install additional drivers " .....at that point insert the Driver CD for the laptop and the drivers will be automaticallly installed...Best of Luck.

I have just been given a laptop from a friend, when I start it up a message stating "Operating System not found" comes up so I have purchased Vista Home Premium to put on it. However, when I boot from the disk and select which version of Vista I want to install, it states that 'device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers then click ok'

The laptop has a HDD in it and is a TOSHIBA MK3252GSX.

Any ideas on how I can get this recognised or any way to format the HDD?

Thank you in advance.

it maybe because its a sata drive and you do not have the correct drivers

OR more likely the latop is broken and cannot see the harddrive - whichis why you go the
"Operating System not found"Click to expand...

as the PC starts - it should tell you how to log into the bios/setup - usually F2 or F10 or Del Key

when in the Bios screens - can it see a harddrive connected ?

Question: Satellite P300-1CN

Recently I purchased a Toshiba Satellite P300-1CN, the OS is Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. Ater exactly 7 days the laptop would not boot to windows. It froze twice that day and I had to force restart it by holding down the shut down button. After the second shut down it would not boot to windows. Couldn't even choose to boot in safe mode . So I sent it for repairs and after 2+ weeks Toshiba sent it back today. There was a faulty HDD and it was replaced and tested.

However considering the laptop had problems within 7 days of taking it out of the box I am considering asking for a replacement or refund. Do you think I should bother, was the incident a fluke with the defective piece gone or could this laptop possibly be a mess?

Hello there,

I've noticed a few not so good sounds coming from my cpu fan, along with my 17" laptop over-heating.
I decided that it was time to replace the cpu fan - model KSB0505HA

Now I'm wondering where I can buy a new fan for this model?
I found a site in nz, but the fan is for the P305 series, and I'm not too sure if it would be compatible with my notebook.

Would anyone advise me on where I can get a new cpu fan for this series?

Thank you~

P305 is probably model offered in US but it must be the same as P300 in Europe or AU so I think it should be the right one.

I don?t know where you can order it but try to use Google and check if you can find some online store in AU where you can order it.

I can also imagine you can order it by nearest authorized Toshiba service provider. Make a call and ask.

Hello,

I'm going to buy a solite state drive for my P300-175. Now problem is that I don't know wich kind of SATA my mainboard supports. Does anybody knows if the P300-175 has SATA150 or SATA300? If it is SATA150, and my ssd is a SATA300 (like the Intel X25 M G2), should it be much slower than it is used in SATA300? If anybody has some experience with this, please react.

Thanks in advance, Jefferson

Answer:SSD in Satellite P300-175

Not the answer but may give you some pointers. I have a P500 with a Toshiba MK5055GSX drive. The specification this has is a Serial ATA Revision 2.6 / ATA-8 hardware interface and a maximum data transfer rate of 3Gb/s. However the transfer rate through the PCI Express bus is the important factor and for my laptop it is reported as 2.5Gb/s BUT I don't know if that is actual or a theoretical maximum - if you want to find out then that is the rate reported by a program PC Wizard 2010 (free download from cpuid.com) as the PCI Express bus link speed

Sattlelite P300 with 2 HDDs (250 (=232))GB.

The first drive seems to be partitioned as C: (Vista) and F: (Data). The F: drive contains HDDRecovery folder, which I understand is for recovering Vista - using F8.
The F: drive is taking up 117GB, and is empty apart from the recovery data.

I seem to be able to create additional folders on this F: drive, but I am concerned about the reliability of any data in these additional folders, since it is on the 'recovery' partition.

I want to shrink this F: drive, and add a 10GB FAT drive at the end. Then I want to install Linux on the 2nd HDD, using the Toshiba boot options to choose the boot drive at start-up (NOT installing GRUB on HDD1, but on HDD2). The 10GB FAT at the end of the 1st HDD will allow for sharing data between Linux/Vista.

So, questions:
1) Is it safe to use the F: drive (recovery) for normal Vista data storage?
2) Will the recovery possibilities be affected in any way if there are additional data folders on the recovery drive? (Note: I'm not touching the HDDRecovery folder in any way, and I have made recovery DVDs).

Answer:Satellite P300 - How to use both HDD's?

> The first drive seems to be partitioned as C: (Vista) and F: (Data). The F: drive contains HDDRecovery folder, which I understand is for recovering Vista - using F8.
Correct? this is the Toshiba HDD recovery which allows you to reinstall the OS from the HDD.

> I seem to be able to create additional folders on this F: drive, but I am concerned about the reliability of any data in these additional folders, since it is on the 'recovery' partition.
You can store other files on this F partition but don?t remove or change the HDD recovery folder because this would affect the HDD recovery functionality!

> I want to shrink this F: drive, and add a 10GB FAT drive at the end.
Someone here in the forum reported that the HDD recovery didn?t function after the partition has been shrunken.

However, I recommend creating firstly the Recovery DVD and then you could test this.
If something will go wrong you can boot from the recovery disk and can set the notebook back to the early state.

Hi,

I have a Satelite P300. I'm a little confused as I see here others talking about their P300's.
I see reference to P300-1G5, P300-19P, P300-1GC, P300-23M.

My Satellite, when I look underneath only says 'Satelite P300' , beneath that it says pspcca-05Yy01Y

How do I determine exactly which one I've got?
It appears that there are many flavors.

Mario

Hi

Your Satellite P300 (PSPCCA) seems to be one of the Toshiba Australian notebooks.
The Satellite P300-1G5, P300-19P etc? belong to Toshiba European series?

However, your notebook is P300 which belongs to the PSPCCA series? this is the right title.

Hi mate,

Who says that Satellite Pro P300 supports RAID? As far as I know P300 series don?t have RAID controller and in detailed specifications on Toshiba website I can find nothing about this?

On Satellite P300 it?s only possible to use a second HDD if it has a second HDD connector. You can check this if you remove the second HDD cover. If you can see a second HDD connector, you can use a second HDD.

Hello there.

I have Toshiba Satellite P300. It's nearly 4 years old.
However, 3 months ago it has started not to charge battery. I removed battery and left computer only with adaptor.
Now it does not charge at one, i have to wait until electricity or smth will reach some level to start computer.

So, please, help if anybody has had some alike problem or knows the reason and what to do.
Maybe its adaptor problem, or something wrong with connection between adaptor and pc. I don't know and have no money yet to check it.

Does anybody know what's wrong? Thanks.

Answer:Satellite P300 does not charge

Hi

Such issues can be related to different reasons;
- AC adaptor issue
- Motherboard issue (I?m thinking especially about power supply electronic issue)

But I don?t think it could be an AC adaptor malfunction because the notebook can power up after a specific ?power level has been reached or the notebook can boot up after a longer time being connected to AC adaptor. Is it right?

Well, it sounds like an mobo issue but this is just an suggestion?
The parts should be checked firstly before replacing

Hello all,

I have a German P300-PSPCCE bought a few months ago. I noticed the notebook has two bays for 2.5'' sata DISKS, wich one is already ocupied by the default hard-disk, and the other has some plastic pins on the notebook disk-door wich makes impossible to put another hard-disk on the bay.

The question is: If I remove the plastic pins of the disk-door and put another HDD, with appropriate mounting stuff, the notebook can handle it? (power, motherboard compatibility and so on...)

The second one is:

Recently I burn'd an old P200 motherboard due to improper USB conection with an experimental device wich I developed.
Now it?s hard-to-find this old P200 motherboard.
I?m planning to buy a Motherboard of mine P300-PSPCCE, but I don?t know where to find such thing, so I?m asking if anyone knows where can I find it, please can U show me the path?

Thanks for any reply

Daniel.

Answer:Can I use second HDD on my Satellite P300-PSPCCE?

Hello Daniel

My brother has Satellite P300 and we have noticed the same situation there.
Most important is if your notebook has connector for second HDD. If yes, you can connect it but the HDD cover must be adapted.
My brother has removed these plastic pins carefully and everything is OK now. He uses 250 GB SATA HDD.

Old mainboard you can try to obtain by Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
Other way Google a little bit and check if you can find some online store where you can order one.
Other option is to check eBay.
Maybe you can find old P200 with broken display but with well working motherboard.

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P300. When I bought it I had on it Vista family premium. Now I wanted to install Win 7.
I have the DVD of Win 7 professional but when I want to boot from the win 7 DVD it wouldn?t accept and the pc boot always from the hard disk even when I changed it on the BIOS like it doesn?t recognise it. I tried with other Win 7 DVD to format the hard disk and install the win 7 like the normal procedure but Toshiba doesn?t recognise any Win 7 DVD, it recognise only its original system DVD (the hddrecovery files which combines the win vista and all Toshiba laptop drivers as u know).

So how to do to format the pc and install Win 7 (if u run the setup of win 7 from the computer I can install Win 7 but I can?t format the pc and I keep always the old files and I don?t like) so please help me if you have a solution for that thank you!!

Hi everyone !

I am a complete novice to graphics issues.

I just bought Toshiba Satellite P300 with ATI HD 3650 and got really frustrated.
Basically, it seems that my graphisc is dead.

When I ran some tests like 3Dmark 05 or 06 and got 2 FPS. I tired to remove all drivers and install the latest one with CCC 9.10. After this operation I can see the latest drivers installed but nothing really works. I can't access the card from display manager.

One of the tests also showed me 'graphics chipset missing'which I have no idea what it means.
I installed NFS Undercover and the game is unplayable. It seems like nightmare.
I thought that with below parameters I would be able to see at least something execpt for avi files.
Thanks for any help.

You should use the graphic card driver released on the Toshiba page!
Such drivers are tested and should work.

How about BIOS? Do you use the latest BIOS version?
Check this and if newer BIOS is available -> update it!!

Furthermore you should check your game settings.
Try to decrease the graphic details and other options which need too much graphic resources.

Have read other threads on Satellite Pros not powering on. Seen various suggestions, including removing RAM modules (with or without success).
Done all the usual, remove battery, attempt power on with, without battery etc. etc. etc (as you'd expect) all to no avail...

Mine is very old now, about 7yrs. The week I bought it, it would not power on. Took it back to the shop, they plugged it in, hey presto, power. Has happened three times in last seven years, every time, take it to PC World. They plug it in, hey Presto, power.

Beginning to realise that, although access to someone else's power supply is inevitably the solution, it's not very scientific. Was wondering if there is a less random solution to this problem and if anybody knows why it happens.

Could someone please tell me what is the price of cooler?

Answer:Need new cooling fan for Satellite P300

The prices are not the same in every European country. What you can try is to contact Toshiba service in Sarajevo. I suppose one of them must be in capital city. They can tell you how much it costs.

You can also try to buy it online Googling around. Good prices you can find on eBay.
Do you want to exchange it alone?
I mean without maintenance manuals it can be pretty risky.

Hi

i have had a P300-156 for some time now.
It was fine up untill recently, when the DHCP client stopped workin and wouldnt start,

So i tried to restore from disc and had no dice with that attempt.
So i attempted to recover from HDD again no luck the laptop keeps freezing after the install.

So i tried to install Ubuntu on the laptop but again same problem, linux says "Buffer error I/O sdo" ??
I'm not sure what that is, it did however manage to wipe the entire drive.

And i cannot XP to install because it wont find the HDD.

So the situation is that i have no recovery methods and cannot install another OS.

Guys im really confused about what to do here, so if anyone can help please i need it.

Hi,

I know some others users (here or on another forums) have the same problem with this laptop : the fan is running too many times.

I bought the P300 since 2 months and since the beginning the fan makes what it wants. Even if you have the last bios, even if your cpu doesn't work and is cold (41C) etc. etc. By example when the screensaver wakes up, two seconds later the fan goes to work ! And if you want to see a movie, that's not very cool...

That cannot be the OS (Vista or XP - I tried both) because the fan starts during the loading of the Bios.
I think the Bios is the cause but today it doesn't permit you to manage the outbreak of fan.

Is there a technical response of Toshiba ?

Many thanks.

Answer:Satellite P300 / Fan always running

Hello

And what you want to hear now? I have Satellite Pro P300-149 (PSPC1E) in front of me and it is a little bit louder than my previous P200D. At the moment when I write this posting the cooling fan runs but very quiet. I can hear it but usually while working I hear online radio and I there is no way to hear running cooling fan. Try to set the cooling method to low level and change power plan to Balanced.

At the end I must say that I like your first statement about running fan. As you say ? too many times. And how you know it runs too many times? Have you compare it with some other notebook models or how you come to this conclusion? Do you think your notebook should run absolutely silent or what?

Please note that you have mobile computer.

Hello All,

I was surfing the net a few hours ago when my laptop just turned off.
Since then, I've tried the take the battery out trick and only used the AC outlet; but that didn't work.

I've also tried taking out both the battery and AC power plug and tried pressing down the power button for 30 seconds then putting the battery back in, but that didn't work either.

At the moment, when I plug in the AC plug there are no LED lights turning on saying that I have it plugged in.
I still have 3 weeks of Warranty left.
Are there any tricks to turning this thing back on, or will I have to send it away to warranty? (Note, the nearest city is 990Km's from where I live)

Thank you

Answer:Satellite P300-Q01 does not turn on

Hi

You could try to remove battery and disconnect the AC adaptor
Then wait about 1 hour and then connect both parts again.
Then try to power up the machine.

If this will not help then you should get in contact with the ASP in your country because this could be a serious hardware issue which could be fixed only by ASP.

Good luck buddy!

Hi ,

This is my first Toshiba laptop and is a very good product in every part, but the noise is to high !

I have compared it with a little more expensive notebook using the same CPU and equivalent video card from Nvidia (9600).

With the other notebook the fan is inaudible when you don't play a game or charge the CPU, with the Toshiba the fan never stop!

This is very painful when you use it for many hours ...

I have underclocked the CPU to 800 Mhz and activate the energy saver for the ATI card in the control panel , like is in battery mode.

But no chance after 4/5 minutes the fans start and never stop , just the desktop started and doing nothing grrr

The CPU is 39/40 degree and the fan cool cool and cool again , some time stop for 10 seconds when it reach 37 degre and start again for long long time :(

With a processor reduced at 800 Mhz and a 3D graphic card doing nothing in reduced mode is not normal to have this level of noise. Another laptops with the same component inside don't have this problem.

I thing a bios update is needed to change the threshold when the second level of fan speed start, 40 degree is not so hot for a CPU !

I'm thinking to change it if Toshiba don't do nothing about that.
Hope some engineer listen me please, its a good
very goord laptop and so beautiful.

Kind regards and Merry Christmas,
Patrick

Answer:Satellite P300 - fan is always running

Hello,

I find the reason why the fan is always running with a CPU undervolted and at 800 mhz speed.

The ATI graphic card is always running at full speed, there are no ATI driver supporting the HD Mobility
for the moment (Windows and Linux) , its a unified driver and the HD3650 Desktop version is used and loaded in my case .

Powersave and ATI Overdrive are not supported for me :

aticonfig --set-powerstate=1
Error: POWERplay is not supported on your hardware.

aticonfig --od-getclocks
ERROR - ATI Overdrive(TM) is not supported on the Default Adapter - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

I have to wait for a new driver, because the GPU share the same cooler with the CPU ...

Hope this solve the always running case !

Happy new year,

Pat.

There are hundreds, nay thousands threads about this theme! Search, read, and learn?

The Satellite P300-1EI seems to be PSPCCE series and all XP drivers were released for this notebook.
Check simply the Toshiba European driver website.

One hint; you would need to include the SATA drivers.
