I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I own a P300D, it has 1 slot where the preinstalled harddisk sits and another one just like it on the other side of the device. but the plastic cover of the second slot has a bunch of plastic columns that block the slot if the plastic cover is used to close the slot.

how is one supposed to fit a second hdd in there?
Am i expected to by another plastic cover?

where does one get the metal frame to keep the hdd in place properly?
Exact Product Names would be nice :)

thanks!

Answer:Satellite P300D install second harddisk slot

Hi

First of all not all Satellite P300 models can be upgraded with an second HDD.
Even if the second HDD bay is available, you will not be able to insert a second HDD if the HDD connectors are missing.

So check if the connectors are available for that?

Okay, I did something really stupid. It was late, I was in the dark, and I wasn't paying attention (obviously) so here's what happened...

I had a SanDisk 2GB Micro SD Memory Card that I was using in my cell phone.
I wanted to transfer some pics & photos from my computer to the phone, so I decided to stick it in the Express Card slot of my laptop. Simple enough, right?

....Well being the incredibly smart person that I am, I put the micro memory card in the adapter, but it was the wrong one. So my computer pretty much swallowed it whole. I can't get it back out.
Now I can't use the Express Card slot in my computer AT ALL, because the old one is still stuck in there. You can't really see it, but if you try to put another adapter in there, it won't "click". It won't go all the way because ... the old one I lost is still in there waiting to be rescued, haha.

So my question is: How do I get the memory card out of my computer??

I tried taking it apart, but I couldn't get the part of where the express card slot is, so that was no good. There's a way to do this, I know. I'm just not smart enough to figure it out on my own. Which is probably a good thing, because I might mess it up again, lol.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7416 laptop.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi there,

I need some help.

I recently upgraded my P100-MA6 to Vista Home Premium 64-bit and everything is running perfect and I have located software, drivers, and such for every component except the built-in SD memory card slot!
It will not work at all and I can't seem to find a driver or controller that I need for it to run/recognize my SD cards.

Can anyone point me to the proper driver for this component to run under Vista 64-bit O/S?

Is there one?
If not, can someone let me know that this is an issue that has no solution?

I know it seems odd, its the last thing I need to do for a completely perfect upgrade!

Specs on the laptop are:

Intel Core2 T7200 2.0ghz, 4GB pc-5400 OCZ ram, 200GB HDD, Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 gpu, Vista 64-bit O/S,

If you need any other specs just ask!

Thank you in advance to whoever reads this and may be able to assist me!

Regards,

Paul

Answer:Re: Satellite P100-MA6 - Need driver for SD Memory Card Slot using Vista 64

Go into Device Manager and look in the Properties of the Unknown Device, click on the "Details" Tab, and look at the Hardware ID's.

Then use this website to identify the device and locate the drivers:
http://www.pcidatabase.com/

You may need to use drivers found in google if you cant find the Vista64 driver from other Toshiba models.

Hey,

I really need some help with how to remove my Memory Stick Pro DUO from the card slot.

The laptop has read the stick fine and I can see all the files in it however I can't seem to get it out. I've tried to push it in a bit to make it pop out but this doesn't work and it's also quite far in so I can't pull it out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A100 - How to remove Memory Stick Pro DUO from the card slot

Hi

In my knowledge there is no additional help for Memory Stick Pro DUO removing like on the PCMCIA slot.
You should try to pull it out. If you don?t manage to pull it out with you fingers you could use a pair of tweezers.
But be careful.

Hi,
On my Satellite P300D-130 with Vista 32 bits, I have boot errors (Resource conflict - PCI serial bus), and missing drivers regarding SM Bus controller and PCI memory controller.
Probably a Windows automatic update is the origin of this situation.

I've updated all drivers from AMD, but it doesn't help.

I cannot find those drivers anywhere... (PCI/VEN_1217&DEV_7520 and PCI/VEN_1217&DEV_7530)

(I also lost the recovery CD...)

Thank you

Answer:Satellite P300D - need SM bus controller and PCI memory Drivers

Install please card reader controller. If you use Vista 32bit you can download it here .

By the way: if you want to identify device and vendor of some unknown device you can identify it using http://www.pcidatabase.com/

Hi
I am confused about what type of adapter should i buy for my expansion slot, on the descriptoin it says that my laptop have PCI card type II : type :express card slot.

So far what i have read is PCI card type II are different from Express card. I just need to know what my machine supports, a 54mm card or 34 mm card, 16 bit or 32 bit, i just don't know, i need to buy an adapter for esata interface to connect my NAS via esata to my laptop for greater speeds.

Can anyone enlighten me on this, please?

Answer:Re: Satellite M60-104 PCI card Slot or Express Card Slot?

Did you take a look into the user manual?
There are all the details about the M60 series.

But as far as I know the M60-104 unit supports the Cardbus 32-Bit/PC-Card 16-Bit slot.
So you could use 1x PCMCIA Type-II only and 1x ExpressCard.

Hi

My Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 is 4 years old with 512 RAM (2 x 256 PC2700 DDR SDRAM 166 MHz). I would like to upgrade my RAM to the highest possible capacity. How much is this? (BIOS version upgraded from 1.50 to 1.70, Windows XP Pro SP 3).
I would be glad not only to get the answer to my question but also to learn where I could have found out the answer myself.

Thanks and regards

I have an old Satellite A100-811 with Windows XP SP3. It has 1 GB memory (2x512). I want to upgrade the memory. What should I do?

1. Put another 2GB memory so the total is 2.5Gb (will i have any problems for using two types of memory 512Mb and 2 Gb ?)

2. Put 2x1 Gb total 2 Gb (for better combatibility?)

3. Put 2x2 Gb . But will i have the full 4Gb memory or just 3Gb because of Win Xp limitations of memory?

Do I need any BIOS update for this?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Answer:Satellite A100-811 - Maximum memory capacity

Hi skga100,

The maximum RAM capacity of Satellite A100-811 is 4GB. That means you can install 2GB in each slot.

Usually for Windows XP 2GB is enough but I you want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you should think about 3 or 4GB?

In your case I would buy one 2GB memory module. So you are on the safely side.
Why? If you want to install Vista or Windows 7 later, you can buy a second memory module and keep your 2GB module. That?s the easiest way. :)

And no, BIOS update is not necessary.

Hello everyone,

my computer is a Toshiba Satellite S2800-200 (old one) and i wont to ask if is it possible to upgrade memory and disc capacity.

Thank you

Answer:Satellite 2800-200; is it possible to upgrade memory and HDD capacity

Of course you can upgrade these notebook parts.
The notebook seems to be equipped with an internal memory which is not removable.

http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=7168&ft=m&st=3
According to the website above you could use only one memory slot for an upgrade.
You could use the 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM 128MB module. This is max.

I?m not 100% sure about the HDD but as I?m not mistaken the notebook was delivered with the 10GB HDD. So usually an 20GB HDD should be possible.

I have a Panasonic camera made in 2009, so it's not newest one. The manual lists the video recording time in relation to SD cards only upto 32 GB. There are 64 GB cards available with a longer recording time. However, I am wondering if my camera only can do 32GB job even with a 64 GB card??? Or it does no matter; the bigger the memory, the recording time just automatically increases????

Also, manufacturers sell the mini and micro cards with and without adapters. Those with adapters are about $10 or $20 more than just mini or micro cards alone. Can an adapter be used universally? Does it matter the brand? I already have a SanDisk MICRO SD with its adapter. Can I still use this particular adapter with a different brand micro SD card?

Thanks

Answer:Solved: SD memory card capacity and adapter

The maximum memory card size supported might depend on the firmware used in a given model number of a Panasonic camera.

Most, if not all, SD mini/micro adapters are just feed-through devices to convert from one pin-out configuration to another. Any brand adapter should work with any brand of mini or micro SD card.

I tried to istall the following drivers/software from Toshiba official website:

-Flash Cards Support Utility
-Flash Media Driver
-SD Utilities

But it doesnt work anyway, cannt recognized my microSD anyway.
What should I do/install?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Answer:Satellite P200D-12z - Card Reader driver needed - SD card slot issue

Did you install a generic version of Windows? You need to install the AMD chipset driver first, so other PCI devices can install properly.

What is the size capacity of the SD Card?
Are you running XP? You may need to install Service Pack 3, or a Microsoft hotfix for SDHC support.

How can I upgrade my laptop memory? There isn't a memory slot at the bottom of the laptop.

Answer:I can't find the memory slot to Satellite S70-B-10V

Memory slots on this notebook model are placed under the bottom cover so when RAM modules must be exchanged or upgraded bottom cover must be removed.
Please note: on some notebook models RAM upgrade is supported by notebook owners and RAM upgrade steps are described in user?s manuals document.

I your case such upgrade is not supported and RAM upgrade should be done by authorized service provider.
Generally speaking bottom cover removal is not complicated but you should not do it alone. This will cancel valid warranty.

In my opinion, before you do anything contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help. Simply pick up some info about price and compatible RAM modules.

Hi,

I have some issue with my L300-1BW. Recently I replaced my memory and upgrated to 2x2GB RAM.
As I replace my proc Celeron T1600 1,6 to Core 2 Duo T7500 2,2 my Toshi get so much boost that i was consider to upgrade RAM even more.

We could find L300-1BW specs here:
http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-l300-1bw/

And its says: "maximum expandability : 4,096 MB"

I was wondering if it means 4GB limitation - PER SLOT? OR TOTAL?

I'm stuck, cause I typed "dmidecode -t memory" on my Mint OS and it said as follows:

"Memory Controller Information
Error Detecting Method: None
Error Correcting Capabilities:
None
Supported Interleave: One-way Interleave
Current Interleave: One-way Interleave

Maximum Total Memory Size: 8192 MB

Physical Memory Array
Location: System Board Or Motherboard
Use: System Memory
Error Correction Type: None
Maximum Capacity: 8 GB
Error Information Handle: No Error
Number Of Devices: 2"

Is this 8GB max. is true?
Want to be 100% sure, as single module 4GB SO-DIMM DDR2 is quite expensive.

Thanks in advance for any kind of support in this matter.

Hi

Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have and which RAM module you have bought?
You must understand that on this virtual way it is not easy to say much about your issue.
Fact is that modules for upgrade must be compatible with hardware platform of your notebook.

This forum is full of different but similar reports where people have such problems.
Mostly the problem was RAM itself. Looking for cheap solution people buy some no-name product and not high quality products. The "Value" RAM Modules use a lot of cheap chips utilizing multiple banks/channels, which can cause compatibility problems with some Chipsets/CPU's.

And if you?re not able to open it, then you will have to use your annoying usb-adapter. ;)

Hi,

I have read the rather thin manual, and I can;t find any info on the card slot. (other than where it lives on the laptop)

Could someone please tell me how to insert my smart media card? the slot is huge and i'm worried about losing the card inside the laptop! I'm presuming the smart media will auto run?...

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite P200-1FZ: How to insert the smart media card into the card slot

Would be nice to know what notebook model you own.
But, normally, for smaller cards, you will need an adapter which is often included, like for the memory stick pro duo.
I think it is just normal sized and you have to put in the middle of the card reader slot until you hear a click sound.

If you have not changed autorun settings, you should get a new window with the files on your card, when putting it into your notebook.

Hello, Toshiba users!

I am the proud owner of a Toshiba Satellite L300-171 laptop, bought last year.
4 weeks ago, one of my memory slots stoped working.

This model comes with 3 GB of DDR2 667 MHz RAM. Now it only shows me 2 GB.
I swapped the modules between them (I thought that maybe the 1 GB module was not working anymore) and I got 1 GB of memory. So, both RAM modules work. It's the slot.

Do you know any reason why this could happen over night? (maybe a CMOS setting or something).

And is it true that one memory slot can only access 2 GB of memory?

To see this model's specs access this
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L300-171/1056296/Model/1056296/Serie/150081/Family/2326/x/50/y/14/Type/2319/ACTION/SHOW_ATTRIBUTES/#0

I have the same OS as it came with: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Thank you very much for any answer

Answer:Satellite L300-171 - faulty memory slot

> Do you know any reason why this could happen over night? (maybe a CMOS setting or something).
Every issue happens unexpectedly?

I?ve got an oldie.. my notebook is about 8 years old.. The RAM slot died after 5 years of usage? I think the higher internal temperature could be one of the reasons why such slot could damage?

In my case the notebook crashed. I removed one RAM module from faulty slot and everything worked properly.
The old ram modules were 512MB? now I?ve got one 1GB RAM in one slot and the second is empty?

Hi all

i have a toshiba a300 that i am sorting for a mate.
Its a little bit slow so I've upgraded from 1GB ram to 4GB as i am aware this is the max the system can take.

Now the system recognizes both sticks of ram, however when i go to fresh install windows 7 it wont let me.
So have used UBCD (ultimate boot cd) memory tester and the laptop shuts down.
So i tried with 1 stick of 2 GB this works in one slot but not the other.

Would i need to do a bios update or is this a motherboard issue.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300 - RAM works only in one memory slot

Hi,

what is the model/part number on the sticker? Some CPU's/Chipsets are limited to 2GB in total.
You may be able to get a 2GB module working in the first slot but that may cause instability.

Hi all,

I have a Satellite A210-12U, Resently have had alot of BSOD's then finally PC would not boot up at all, I managed to get it working again by removing one on the sticks of RAM, I have since tried installing both sticks of RAM in various cobinations as I thought that one of the was faulty, It appears that both are working fine, But when I put any one of the in the top slot the Laptop does not boot at all, Not even the BIOs starts.

I take it this means the Memory slot has failed, My question is, Can this be replaced? As it is out of warrentee, If not are there 4GB memory sticks available as I want to upgrad anyway.

Thanks in advance

Creeky

Answer:Satellite A210-12U Memory Slot Failed

It sounds like the slot is faulty, or it could just be dirty. You can clean the slots using Electrical Cleaner from an electronics store. Don't use water or other liquids because you could short the mainboard and cause damage.

I guess you could get a Service Center to resolder the memory connector, but it may be cheaper or easier to just buy another Mainboard.

I doubt that laptop can take 4GB RAM Modules, 2x 2GB may be your only option.

But remember that 32bit Operating Systems are limited to 3GB, so you would need Vista 64bit to take advantage of the whole 4GB.

ps. use Memtest (bootable CD or FD) at www.memtest.org to test the RAM.

However when I take the cover off I can only see 1 slot that has the current module in.
The literature states there are 2 slots and it is upgradeable to 4GB.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

The Satellite L300D supports two memory slots for sure.
The slots are placed at the bottom of the unit. You can find it in the middle. The slots are secured with one screw. Under the plastic cover you should find the two memory slots.

Sometimes the second slot can be hidden under the first memory module

My Satellite M100-221 currently has 512MB memory and i want to increase it to 2GB. Is it okay to increase memory by just adding a 1 x 2GB memory in the available expansion slot? Or i have to put a paired module (2 X 1GB)?

Answer:Satellite M100-221: Can I use 2GB memory module in one slot?

Hi

As far as I know it?s possible to upgrade the memory to max 4GB.
Therefore a one single bank should be able to handle the 2GB memory module.

So it?s your choice if you will use one 2GB module or 2 x 1GB modules.

Answer:Satellite P30-145 secondary memory slot not recognized

Hi

Did the second slot recognize any different memory modules???
You could definitely upgrade the memory on this notebook up to 2GB!
So a single slot must be able to recognize a 1024MB module.

I would suggest checking firstly the module compatibility because there could be either a motherboard (slot) malfunction or you trying to use not compatible module.
We have to eliminate one!

In my knowledge this notebook supports PC2700 DDR-RAM and the 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G) module should works!

Hi, I am attempting to install 4GB of memory in a Satellite Pro L300 laptop. This type of thing I have done a thousand times before.

However, whenever I install a memory module in the second memory slot, the laptop will blue screen when loading windows. Even running memtest (via bootable cd) will result in a hang, so it's not Windows' fault.

I have the latest BIOS installed (1.50)

Each memory module will work fine in the primary slot on its own.

Using a single memory module in the secondary memory slot (even the original 1GB module) results in the Laptop failing to even start up.

Is this a known issue? Or is this simply a faulty second slot?

Many thanks!

Answer:Satellite Pro L300 - Is Second Memory Slot faulty?

Maybe it is a non-compatible memory module.

Which notebook model do you have exactly (L300-xxx)?
Which additional RAM have you bought?
Have you checked compatibility?

To be honest on this forum you can find many forums where people have described the same problem after upgrade. Most of these described issues were related to usage of cheap and non-compatible RAM modules.

Good day, everybody!

I am going to enlarge memory up to 2 Gb (1+1 memory modules). But the second slot for it is placed somewhere under the keyboard.
1. Exactly where?
2. Could you please help how to get to it?
I have really no wish to take to pieces the whole notebook!
May be some one has fotos how to upgrade the memory.

Lots of thanks in advance.

Answer:Upgrade of the second memory slot for Satellite M100-221

Maybe this page will help you http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M105/take-apart-notebook-1.htm

I must write one more thing. For RAM upgrade there is slot at the bottom side and in user?s manuals is described how it should be done. I do not know if this is good idea to remove keyboard because you can cancel the valid warranty. Maybe you should call authorized service and clarify this before you start disassembling procedure.

Good luck!

Hi folks,

I want to upgrade my memory, preinstalled are two 512MB bars. In the description it says the maximum is 2GB so I bought 2x 1GB, sadly I can only find one slot.. Can somebody please tell me where the other is?
Thanks,

Greets,
Sebastian

Answer:Cannot find second memory slot on my Satellite M40x-112

Well, I found a information that only one slot is USER upgradeable. This means that the user can upgrade the memory only in one slot which can be found at the bottom of the unit.

I presume the second slot is hidden somewhere under the keyboard and the keyboard must be removed firstly to reach the second memory slot.
But this would cancel the warranty if you would remove the keyboard by yourself.

In my opinion you should contact tan authorized technician for this upgrade?

Greetings

Hello,

I┤m a Satellite 2450-201 owner and I have a big problem.
I just bought a 4GB SD memory card and nice, it fits on the side slot on my notebook.

It's the first time using the memory card, so a needs-to-format window appears when I try to access.

The Window has the right information : 3.78Gb, Fat32, ...

I Click "OK" and the Windows (XP SP2) informs : cannot complete format (here is portuguese, so it's translated to english)

If the right size is informed , 3.78Gb, why the Windows cannot format ?

My notebook is spyware and virus free (just 23 tasks running and under control), I Have SP2, Bios 1.50 (newer), My SD controller drivers is up-to-date (the last and the only one was released in 2003).

Also tried third party "Panasonic SDFormatter 2.0". It's reporting the unit (hardware) or the mem stick SD is not compatible with the program. And the same effect happens : the Sd unit lost the nice icon and I need to remove/insert the SD to see the same story again.

Help me please, friends.

Answer:Satellite 2450-201: Cannot format 4GB card in SD card slot

Hi

It?s very strange that you?re possible to see the SD card after plug-in. some people has suggested that this SD card slot supports only 256MB, 512MB cards and additionally with no MMC support.

I don?t know if you have ?Toshiba SD card format utility? installed on the laptop but on many Tosh notebooks such utility is preinstalled and could be used for the card formatting.

According to some posting in this forum the format utility of Port?g? M400 could handle the 2GB SD cards but not sure about 4GB.
If possible you could try to install this utility on your notebook but you know you have not big chances that this will work.

I think in such case only a external SD card reader will help you.

All you can try is to use forceps and hope you will have success. If this will not work don't try to remove it with force. You can just damage the slot.
Contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. They can help you.

I recently bought a digital camera and the Fujufilm 256 Digital Memrory card (SD card) does not fit the slot in my computer. The computer is Dell Dimension 5150C, bought this year.Dell at the call centre did not understand the query, and Dell at the email site says that maybe the card is not compatible. The card is a stabdard one on sale throughout the UK.Could the slot unit be faulty? How can I prove it is so? Any advice welcomed. Many thanks

Answer:SD memory card doesn't fit slot

A Secure Digital (or MMC) memory card has a cut off in one corner and you have to be careful it is inserted the correct way. However, also make sure that you are using the correct slot of the four available (according to the specs).

Greetings everyone!

I come desperately to the forums of TOSHIBA for an urgent help with some tech issue (more than a problem).
I own a TOSHIBA Satellite M105-S3041, I currently have Windows Vista Ultimate but only with 512Mb of RAM.
Yes, it does run's badly slow, so I bought 4Gb in RAM (Two 2.0Gb Kingston sticks).

Now, the real issue comes when I start wondering "how am I going to install them" I turned upside down my laptop and I locate this little "door" that haves like a Memory little engraved icon.
So I suppose that's where the RAM is located.
Now, my laptop haves TWO RAM modules for up to 4Gb of RAM as said in the User's Guide but when I opened the little "door" I saw that there was (or seemed like) only ONE module and I couldn't see the current 512Mb RAM stick!

So what "am I running on imaginary memory!?
LOL!" and I can't find the second module!

Please HELP! I need to install the memory right now and where I live there is NO TOSHIBA support center or even an authorized reseller that could help me!
So I depend only on TOSHIBA's online support!, IF possible, in the response can I get a link to a video tutorial or maybe you guys include some photos in your answers to guide me?!

Thanks a lot!
Trino A.

Answer:Satellite M105-S3041: Where to find a second memory slot

Looking at the specs of the laptop here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp it says there are two slots.

One slot is "user accessible" , the other is "service accessible", which I guess means that you need to get a service center to install the memory for you.

For S1800-100, if i insert my default 12MB PC100 SD-RAM memory to SLOT 1, i can't see anything in CPU-Z's(recognition software-famous) SPD tab. Only "Toshiba Unique" and 128MB appears.

But if i insert the memory to SLOT 2, i can see everything like CAS-RAS timings, part number, manufacturer and etc... in "SPD" tab. Why are these 2 slots behave different for reading SPD chips?

Why can't i read SPD info if i insert memory to Slot 1?

Note: Everest Home Edition is cannot read SPD info even my memory is in Slot 1 or 2.

I'm trying to upgrade an L30 for a friend. It came with 1 512MB PC2-4200 memory module. I tried adding a 1GB PC2-5300 SODIMM in the second slot and it didn't pick it up. I replaced the 512 with teh 1GB and it found it. Put the 512 in the second slot, still sees the 1GB but not the 512. I tried 2x 1GB and it sees one of them. It reports 894MB as I guess it uses 128MB for video memory.

I've updated the BIOS, checked all teh settings, adn I cannot see why it woun't recognise the second memory slot.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite L30 (PSL33E) doesn't recognise second memory slot

Hi

Seems the second slot is faulty. This is only one plausible explanation?

But as far as I know Toshiba recommends using these modules;
DDR2-400/533 512MB (PA3412U-1M51)
DDR2-400/533 1GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

Maybe you should test the notebook with such 1GB module to ensure that this is not a memory compatibility issue.

Hello, I have an A31p with two 512mb cards  (one in each slot) but it only shows 512mb total memory.I've tried swapping the cards between slots 0 and 1, and also tried removing the slot 1 card, and always end up with 512mb.I've run the PC doctor utility that comes on the laptop, but I haven't found much more info there.I assume this means there is a hardware problem with slot 1.  Any ideas of how to fix this?If there is no way to fix this, can I use a 1gb card in slot 0? Thanks in advance...

Answer:A31p only detecting one memory slot - is 1gb card ...

Welcome to the forum! One RAM slot going bad is a faily common problem on ThinkPads of that generation, the most affected one being T30, but I've seen it on A31/p, X30 and T23 as well...now, to the answers: a) You can install 1Gb DIMM in your A31p. Mine all have 2x1Gb and work great. b) You can also try putting additional pressure by applying a thin piece of paper between the DIMM and the slot itself, or putting a post-it or two between the cover and the slot. c) There are companies which do this type of motherboard repair, I  have heard good reviews about hammershead tech. Hope this helps.

Hi all,

my T130 has an 5-in-1 Bridge Media Slot for SD Cards / Memory Stick / Memory Stick Pro / MultiMedia Card and xD-Picture Card.

But how should this work with a Memory Stick? Its smaller than an SD card and just falls into the slot (no klick and no contact - and no simple way to get it out with fingers).

Do i need an adapter for this (nowhere mentioned in manual)?

Will I have to dismantle the machine to remove or is there a simpler method???

Answer:Cannot remove memory stick from cardreader slot on Satellite A series

Is it a Duo card? I dont think that Memory Stick type is supported.

You could try removing it with tweezers, but you should remove the battery and AC power first so you dont short anything.

Otherwise you may need to send the laptop to an ASP and get them to remove it. Hopefully the slot is not damaged.

ok, so im at a hotel internet cafe in brazil, and i notice that below the normal floppy drive (external 3.5"i assume) there is another slot, which is occupied by a memory stick reader. this reader services Memory Stick Duos, something called CF, SD cards, and something called SM, 4 cards in total, with a button on the other side of the CF one.

i plug m memory stick duo adapter in with my Memory Stick Pro Duo inside, and i cant find it on my computer. there is a light that is labeled as "Access" on the top, and it doesnt blink when i plug it in.

any idea on whats wrong, and if this could be a software fix? i could change that on this computer if needed.

also, anyone know how to change the language on a Windows XP Professional computer? its in spanish and i will operate better in english

my sandisk memory card from my digital camera will not work with my laptop for some odd reason,, i have a dell inspiron 6000 with windows xp,, it actually comes with a san disk slot , there was a time 6 months ago where it would work but now nothing ..

when i put the card in the slot it makes the chime that its been put in but i cant get to the card through my computer , or find it anywhere ..
it doesnt even give a message saying the driver is not working properly or something

please help

Answer:Sandisk memory card will not work in my laptop , but i have the slot for it????

you might have to wait a little bit.

Sometimes, when I connect my camera to my computer it takes about 30 seconds for it to read it and pop up. Especially if I have the whole thing packed with RAW's.

Try connecting your camera to your computer instead of using a card reader.

I have a Toshiba A135 S7404 running Windows Vista Home Basic, the max memory upgrade is 2X2GB which I purchased via newegg.com and installed. When I turned it on, black screen and no boot up. Basically it will only reconize one 2GB of memory, doesn't matter what slot as long as it is only one. I tested both memory chips both work in the computer and in either card slot, just not both chips in both card slots. What the heck?????? Even stumped the Geek Squad guy at Best Buy, he seemed to think it the mother board issue. It runs much better on the 2GB then it did with the 512MB, cha. Computer should be able to run both 2GB card in each slot and reconize about 3.25 to 3.65 of the memory, if it would run both cards at the same time. ** I did upgrade the BIOS from 1.6 to 1.9 as most of the blogs suggested-still won't recognize the 2nd 2GB card.

(Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device" Any help would be appreciated.BobMessage Edited by MrBeer on 06-13-2009 12:22 PMMessage Edited by MrBeer on 06-13-2009 10:03 PM

ok, i was bored and got some homebrew for my ds, but i needed some files off my psp memory stick, and couldnt be bothered to charge it as its dead and i cant find the charger, so i thauhgt "ill try it in my laptop sd card slot reader" and after a some moments later, bang!! autorun pops up, with the memory stick icon on it, all the files are accessable aswell

now my question is, HOW DID THIS WORK!, i looked in the slot and the pins are much to big/spaces to fit all the pins on the card. everyone know theres a size difference between sd and memorystick. how did it work, i didnt think there were duel sd and memory stick readers, all the usb ones if seen have seperate slots. this is bugging me, as it shouldnt, that and i have to get it in just the right place to get it to work, it doesnt seem to fit snug in the slot.
any idea on how the hell this is working thanks

Hi
Are there any L30-115 users here?
According to description on this site, toshiba has two pc card slot...
I can't find any one ;>
Anybody has pcmcia slot in L30-115?
Are there different models?:/

Answer:Satellite L30-115: Can find only one PC Card slot

Hi

I wonder where you found this info.
I have downloaded the L30 user manual from the Toshiba site and there is nothing about PCMCIA slots!
According to this document the PC card slot is placed at the left side and the PC card slot can accommodate one Type II card.
The slot supports 16-bit PC cards and Cardbus PC cards.

I think you have mixed something and there is only one slot which supports different cards.

Answer:Satellite A665-11Z - Does it have a SIM card slot?

Hi Samsom123,

I have checked the specifications of Satellite A665-11Z on offical Toshiba website because I don?t have it, and it looks like that it?s not equipped with internal 3G module so the SIM card slot is not usable.

Sorry but if you want to use 3G you need an external 3G modem, e. g. 3G USB stick from your mobile phone provider.

I was wondering as I've got 2 spare slot Mini PCI-Express free on my laptop, if such Intel Card (ITM) could fit inside...This technology is quite not expensive actually.

The mini PCI-E is very ease to access under my keyboard and it just have to be inserted, and at system reboot, Windows7 will recognize straight that card and the proper Intel Turbo drivers.

It does act like "Windows ReadyBoost" & "Windows ReadyDrive" under 7 and Vista...so the system will load faster....boost the disk cache, load faster Apps & perform battery improvement.

Work on "Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset familly" & "Mobile Intel 4 Express Chip Familly".

-1 gb (RD, RB, no software pinning),
-2gb (RD, RB, no software pinning),
-4gb (RD, no RB, software pinning).

Any experience in return? or it is just like inserting a SD Card in the Card Reader to Ready Boost?

So in February I ordered my kid an inspiron 11 as first computer. Later I decided to upgrade the memory and I called Dell and provided my service Tag. Dell told me it had a 2GB memory card and I could upgrade to a 4GB card. I ordered the card and disassembled my computer to find there is no slot to upgrade. After an hour on the phone I find out that what I am looking at is one with a fixed memory module. I told them that per my service tag it is supposed to have a slot and be upgradeable. They told me there is nothing they can do.
So I say how bout you exchange this for one that has what I ordered. They say since its over the 30 days there is no way to return or exchange. I said even though its your fault ???
Am I being unreasonable ? All I want is what I ordered. After a few more calls to India One person finally tells me there is a first and second generation of this laptop. Ist gen has the fixed and the second has the replaceable. So I tell them that per  Dell tag  this is supposed to be 2nd generation and therefor it was built wrong. They again say " we have a 30 day no Hassel return " and your over that.
Any suggestions folks ? I'm sick of beating my head against the wall with these people

Hi,

I have an R630 155 and I don't have a PC card / Express card slot as far as I can determine. The Toshiba manual shows that it would be just under the optical [cd] drive on the right hand side of the laptop, but I don't have such a slot. Does anyone know if it possible to run a "true" serial port using the usb ports. I have hardware installed out in the field that requires a real serial port and won't run using the normal usb to serial port cable that can be bought. On another Toshiba I use I have the pc card slot and I didn't notice that the new laptop doesn't appear to have this facility. Maybe someone can help / advise?

Regards, peter jones.

Answer:Satellite R630-155 - No express card slot

Hi Peter,

The point ist hat not all R630 models are equipped with PC card and express card slot. As you can read in user manual only some models are equipped with this slot.

On Amazon and other online shops I found some USB to Serial adapters so I think this should be the correct part for you but I don?t understand what you mean with ?true? serial port.

In your case I would just test it and if it doesn?t work you can send it back ;)

i've a satellite 1900-803. can anyone tell me where to look for to find out whether its pc card slot is a 32-bit or otherwise?

Answer:Satellite 1900-803: What are the specification of PC card slot?

Hi

I think such information you could find in the Toshiba user manual which should be preinstalled on the notebook.
On my notebook I have found such manual and there were many useful info about my unit.
But as far as I know this notebook supports Cardbus 32-Bit/PC-Card 16-Bit Slot and PCMCIA Type-II (2x) or Type-III (1x)

Additional info:
In the BIOS it should be possible to change the PC card settings.

Can anyone tell me on the L350 what the express card slot means?

I am only used to having SD and memory stick cards.
Is there an express card to use with this or can you get an adapter for other cards?

Thanks smokeyb

Answer:Satellite L350 - How to use the express card slot?

Hello

You should look in the user manual. There you can find a lot of informations about the express cards lot.

The express card slot allows you to install ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 to expand functionality.
For example external WiFi cards, USB cards, etc. use this slot.

I have a one problem with my toshiba m40. I don't know how can I open my express card slot. I pushed a little button below but nothing happend?

Answer:Satellite M40 - How can I open the express card slot?

Hello,

The express card slot has that button to eject any card that is inside the slot. Otherwise, it will do nothing. To insert a card, grab it firmly with your thumb and index finger, and slide it into the slot until the black button clicks and the card is seated firmly in the slot. To remove the card, just push that black button in until the card pops out. Hope this helps.

This description you will find also in the user manual - chapter 8

Hi!

I have a X200 and with it I got the Multiple digital media card slot. Has enyone used it? I tried inserting MS PRO Duo and it worked, but getting the card out was a nightmare. I need to push it way back into the computer before it sits correctly and drive displays in My Computer. When I want to get it out i push the card and it releases it but the card remain two centimeters inside of computer and I really had a hard time getting it out.

Anybody knows how to make these jobs easier? Is there an adapter available for easear cards insertion? Or is something wrong with my computer installation (maybe it was assembled incorrectly)?

Thank you all...

Answer:Satellite X200: Cannot remove MS PRO Duo card from slot

Hi

Why you don?t check the user manual before you will post the questions here in the forum!!!
In the user manual you should find the answer and the information what cards are compatible with your notebook multi slot!!!

*Chapter 9 -> Options and devices*

+Memory stick Duo/Pro Duo and the Memory Stick adapter are *NOT* compatible with the Multiple Digital Media Card slot!!! *DO NOT* insert the Memory stick Duo/Pro Duo into the slot. Data may be lost or damage if you use the card other than those supported!!!+

I think this is clear enough!!!

Hello everybody,

i just bought an Toshiba Satellite L650 Laptop and i am happy with this laptop. I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and its working fine.. no any problem with the integrated hardware like WiFi, Ethernet etc...

But now i just tried to boot from a SD Card in the SD-Card slot of the right side but it does not work.
At booting time i pressed F12 to enter the Boot Menu but i tried: FDD, USB, etc... everything but it does not boot from the SD-Card.

The SD-Card is already formated as bootable. Is there no any way to boot from the SD Card slot ? My old netbook (Aspire One D-150) could boot from SD-Card with no problems..

If it doesn't specify a modem, you will need to use a USB 3G Modem.

Hello,

Thank you very much

Hi

This notebook does not support Express Card Slot.
There is only the Bridge Media Slot available which allows you to use these cards: SD Card, SDHC Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard

Hi,
I've had my TOSHIBA Satellite 2410-601 laptop for nearly 3 years and have never needed to use the SD slot. Now however, I would like to use it, since I've got it.
When I insert an SD card, the "flashy light" works, but I don't see the drive in My Computer.
I've tried downloading the drivers off this website and following the instructions - but to no avail.
It has to be a driver or programme problem I think.
(help!)
Thanks

Answer:SD card slot not working - Satellite 2410-601

Hi

First of all you should check the device manager if the SD slot in installed properly.
If the yellow exclamation mark occurs in the device manger in the SD area so there is something wrong. Usually the driver is missing. In this case you have to install the SD host controller driver and SD memory card driver. These drivers you will find on the Toshiba website.

If the device was installed properly and the device manager doesn?t show any exclamation marks so you have to use a supported and compatible SD card.
Please check you user?s manual for supported SD cards.

What do you mean with its not working?
Does the computer recognize a SD card?
Is the card reader listed in device manager?

At first you should update the SD card driver. You can find it on the Toshiba website:

Hi, this is my first time on here so forgive me if I don't give all of the right information, I will try.  Until about a month ago my dvd player and SD memory card slot worked fine.  I was attempting to download pictures from the SD memory card to my laptop when for some reason it not only stopped reading the memory card but it erased it also.  I tried to watch a movie on it to see if it was working and it is not.  I checked the computer to see if I could manually turn it on and neither the memory card slot or the dvd player show up at all.  Is this a driver problem and if so how do I fix it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Linda

Hi,

Best regards

Answer:Windows 7 and Satellite 2450-401 - SD card slot is not working

I don't see any problem there. You have old and not Win7 supported notebook.
What you do is nothing but ?experiment? to see how newest OS runs on old notebook model and you probably know that some hardware or Toshiba function will not work because of missing drivers, tools or utilities.

Anyway, on this forum I found thread about Win7 installation on old Satellite Pro M30.
Check it under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50572

It works in one slot but when plugged in the other one it gets stuck on acquiring network address.
Is there any way to fix it, or are the two ports different.

Answer:Satellite Pro 6000 - wireless pc card works only in one slot

Hi buddy,

According the user manual both slots are normal PC card slots so usually the WLAN card should work in both slots.

But why is it so important that the PC card works in both slots?
Do you have another PC card that you can test in second slot?

What operating system you are using and what WLAN card is it exactly?
