Satellite P30-110 Memory question

Question: Satellite P30-110 Memory question

My P30-100 is starting to run a bit sluggish now, so I'd thought I'd give it an early Christmas present and buy a couple of 1gb Memory Modules for it.

Will this work in my laptop?

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=11831504500&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X 292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=65739

.....as it's quite a bit cheaper then most of the other memory I've found.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite P30-110 Memory question

Hello

Yes, you can use this memory module. As far as I know you notebook has two slots and it support max. 2048Mb RAM (2x1024MB)
But you know. The ?no name? memory modules are chipper then another, but they are not so efficient as another memory modules, for example Kingston modules.

Hi all,
can you advise me the type of memory required by this laptop and whether i can use 1 x 2 Gb or must I use 2 x 1Gb. I understand the maximum usable is 2Gb is this correct please.??

Thanks a lot

Ron

Answer:Memory question about Satellite L40-14N

Hello,

yes, thats correct. The maximum upgradeability of this machine is 2GB. I would recommend you to install 2x1GB modules because the chipset can handle such a configuration better than 1 x 2GB module. Two similar modules for a maximum memory configuration of a machine are always better because the read/write cycles are scattered on both modules which brings def. more performance then just one module which is permanently occupied by the system.

Hi,

I have today purchased the above laptop with 1GB of memory installed, as a single 1GB unit. I had already 2 X 1GB at home of the same variety that this laptop takes, so went to install another unit, giving 2GB total memory.

The laptop does not recognise the additional unit of memory installed, it does not matter which slot I put it in, which unit I use, either the one that came with the machine or the ones I had previously. Crucial.com's scanner states that one of the slots is empty, so the system is not recognising the additional memory.

They units are the same as stated in the instruction manual, and all have been tested on another machine so I know they are ok, so what could the problem be?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Re: Satellite L300D-12L memory question

Hi

Please don?t understand me wrong but these memory modules obviously are not the best one. If I am remembering well few people here on this forum have reported about the same issue. There must be some ?compatibility? problem.

Try to obtain Toshiba or Kingston modules and they will work well. In your case you should obtain 2 GB module and upgrade it up to 3 GB.

Hi, new to this forum.
I tried to find a direct contact to ask this, but could not locate any email options on the website, only phone numbers, which aren't an option right now as I have other obligations during business hours at the moment.

I'm a computer technician of 30 years and have today purchased a new Satellite Pro R50-C PS566A-004001 with an i7-5500U, 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD Notebook for a customer of mine. He has requested an additional 8GB of RAM, which I purchased at the same time from my wholesaler. On opening the box I discovered there is no access to the memory slots or the Hard Drive. The Toshiba Website states in the specs that the RAM is expandable to 16GB, but it appears the back cover has to be fully removed to gain access. I would like to check if I remove the back cover will this void the warranty. The specifications on the Toshiba website do not state that it is not user accessible to change the RAM, where as from the research I did for the customer, other cheaper models do state this. I have sold Toshiba and other brands Notebooks in the past and have always ensured that the specifications for the laptop did not say the RAM was non user accessible, and as such that I would be able to upgrade the RAM as customers request.

As above, I just wish to check that upgrading the RAM on this laptop will not void the Toshiba warranty, since the specifications do state that the laptop is expandable to 16GB of RAM, and do not state that it is not user accessible/u... Read more

I want to upgrade the memory of my computer. Here are my specifications:

Maximum Memory Capacity: 1024MB
Currently Installed Memory: 256MB
Available Memory Slots: 1
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: No
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.40GHz Model 13, Stepping 8
CPU Speed: 1395 MHz

Does this mean if I remove the 256 meg module I can then install two 512 meg modules?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Answer:Question about memory module for Satellite A60

Hi,

You cannot use memory modules in your desktop (or viceversa); they are different size.
Usually the memory modules are in the back of your computer. In manual is indicated the place.

Hello,

I have a Satellite L30-113 and I manage to install a driver (I learn how to in this forum, thx) for the video card, that allows me to change size of memory which video card can use. I set the size of memory (UMA) from properties up to 256 MB (whose on 128), after that in properties the memory for the graphic card is show 512?

My question is that 512 size of memory is real? Really video card use that amount of memory or is unreal? If so is it better to change it back to 128 (then in properties is 256), not to waste that memory for nothing.

I know that the specification from the manufacturer says "max 256 hyper memory", but my question again: why in properties I have Memory Size: 512MB?

Thank you in advance, regards.

Answer:Question about video memory on Satellite L30-113

No, 512mb is not real. The maximum size of video memory is 256mb but I don't know why your system shows 512mb. If you set video memory up to 256mb the performance will not be higher. Don't waste that memory for nothing change it back to 128mb.

iIve bought new laptop, TOSHIBA C50D-A-13G but i have one little problem.
it says in the description
(Graphics card: AMD A6-5200 APU with AMD Radeon? HD 8400 Graphics
Graphics card memory: Up to 4090 MB)
but i dont how to allocate that memory, i've tried BIOS but the option for allocating memory is not listed there.

Please help

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-13G - question about GPU memory

In specification is clearly described:
> memory amount : up to 4,090 MB shared memory with 8 GB system memory installed, and up to 8,186 MB with 16 GB system memory, (with pre-installed 64-bit Windows? operating system).
With other words: with more RAM your GPU will use more memory.
It works automatically and you cannot change anything.

So if you want to have more GPU memory you must upgrade RAM.

Good day,

The reason for the question is that Rectron in South Africa says that the A100-599 is supplied with 2x512mb Memory modules and not with 1x1Gb as indicated on the Toshiba site. Rectron advices to purchase 2 x 1Gb memory but will not refund for the 2x512mb memory, thus leaving you pay 2x for what you are actually going to use.

Please just confirm whether the A100-599, sold in South Africa, are indeed with 2x512mb or 1gb as indicated on the site.

Thank you,
Iam

I'm upgrading the memory in my buddies laptop but for all intensive purposes it will from here on out be referred to as mine.

The toshiba satellite L35 originally came with 1x512 mb of RAM, 6 months I upgraded, putting 1x1gb stick in and keeping the 512 in as well (this has worked good for the whole time I've had it). I decided to upgrade again and bought 1x2gb stick.

When I first put it in I put the 2gb stick into slot 0 (correct me if that's the wrong term for the bottom slot when the laptop's upside down) and the 1gb stick into slot 1.
When I booted up the computer only should 1.87 for RAM, when it should be a little under 3.
I've tried every combination that involves the 2gb stick
2gb in slot 0, 1gb in slot 1
2gb in slot 1, 1gb in slot 0
2gb in slot 0, 512mb in slot 1
2gb in slot 1, 512mb in slot 0

For all of these it shows up as 1.87, no matter where the 2gb is and what else is in there with it.

the 512mb (computer's original) is hynix 512mb 2Rx16 PC2-4200
the 1gb (upgrade 6 months ago) is kingston KVR667D1S0/1GR
the 2gb (brand new) is G.Skill DDRII533 PC2-4200 (F2-4200CL4S-2GBSQ)

I'm getting mixed answers from crucial.com and memoryx.net about what this laptop can handle.
So my question i guess...Do I need to send the G.Skill back and get a different 2gb? is that the compatibility issue?
Should I get a kingston? Or am I just doing something wrong.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the forum in general, I looked here for instructions on how to in... Read more

Answer:Satellite L35 memory installation question

Hi

The L35 is not known to me. It seems to be a notebook series designed for the US market.
But the L30 is known to me and as far as I know the L30 is very similar to the L35.

However, the point is that the RAM can be upgraded only up to 2GB.
This means that you can use a 1GB module in one slot.
A higher memory module size is not supported by memory slots and therefore the notebook shows about 1.87GB for RAM.

Hopefully this helps to explain the issue.

Answer:Question about RAM memory on Satellite P200-123

Hi,

it?s everything OK with your memory. The FSB is doubled/quaded from the native memory frequency of the memory module.

Check this article to know more about the FrontSideBus -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_side_bus

However, your memory is running on 333Mhz and the FSB is then 667Mhz.
How you can see, everything is like it should be. :)

Hi folks, have A40 which i wish to upgrade the memory on from 256 to 1024. 2 questions,

1. where physically is the memory located? Toshiba say under panel below (to the back of)the fan, I've looked there and there are 3 copper pipes there..... which I don't wish to chance removing.

2 (Assuming I can find the memory slots) Which is best 2 X 512 modules or 1 X 1024 Module?

Appreciate any and all assistance.

Answer:Question about adding memory to Satellite A40

Hi

This computer is equipped with tow memory modules sockets beneath the keyboard.
You can increase the amount of RAM by installing an additional memory modules like

PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51)
PC2100 1GB (PA3278U-1M1G)
PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)

I would prefer one 1GB module
To install the memory modules the notebook must be shut down and all cables and battery must be removed.
Insert your fingernail or a thin object under the rim of the keyboard brace and lift out the brace. Remove the two screws securing the keyboard and one screw securing the metal brace.
Then you will be able to remove the keyboard.
But be careful.
The whole description should be published in the user manual in the chapter 8 under ?memory?

Sorry for the beginner question. But if I have 512MB memory at the moment, what are my upgrade options?

Do I have to buy pairs of memory? So I can either buy 2x 1GB=2GB, or 2x 512MB = 1GB + 512 existing. Or can I say just buy a single 512MB or 1GB chip?

Answer:Question about memory upgrade for my Satellite M40-307

Since nobody wants to answer:
1. Check if your notebook supports Dual Channel Ram (it should, but just ckeck in the manual to be sure)
2. Find out what kind of RAM you have. This will add or remove a possibility to upgrade

The thing with Dual Channel is, that you have the best performance, if you using 2 RAM of the same type (really same type: company, size..)
you could:
3a. Add a 512MB RAM of the same type which you have
3b. Buy 2 pieces of new RAM of the same type (1GB + 1GB, or 2GB + 2GB) and be sure that your Notebook supports this ammount (again: manual to check)

You can find also in the manual, if your notebook is supporting DDR or even DDR2 RAM (faster)

If you lost your manual, you can download it here on the toshiba webpage

I hope I could help a bit.

Hi, there

The minimum recommended memory for Windwows XP is 256 Mb and I do not understand how the company could get away selling notebook with 256 MB with built-in graphic adapter sharing the system memory.

Anyway, I want to upgrade my Toshiba and my intention is to buy additional 512 Mb memory, such as http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=20049&ft=m&st=3

Will it work properly with 768 Mb or shall I buy only the same pairs : 256+ 256, 512+ 512?

Thank you very much.

Answer:Question about memory upgrade on Satellite L20-181

Hi

Firstly you are not right. The Windows XP runs also with the lower memory value.
But of course, it depends on the memory if the OS applications will run faster or slower.

However, the fact is that you can upgrade the memory on you notebook and it doesn?t mater if the modules have the same memory value or not.
In this case the notebook was delivered with 256MB and you can install easeful the second 512MB memory module.

PS: I would recommend installing the 512MB in the first slot and the 256MB in the second bank.

I have a question regarding the memory compatibility.
(The A8-117 is a 1.6 GHz Centrino (Pentuin M processor 730) with 533 MHz FSB, and 2 MB of 2nd level cache, Intel® 915GM Express chipset)

At the moment i have 1 chip of 512MB (333MHz, CL 2.5) installed. I plan to upgrade to 1.5 or 2GB. So what bothers me is: can I install a 533MHz DDR2 modules on this laptop (in that case the old 333MHz one goes out)?
At the official Toshiba site only 333MHz DDR are provided, while the 915GM express chipset allowes it.

If 533 is not possible i guess i'll just buy additional 1GB of 333MHz DDR.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Question about memory expansion on Satellite A80-117

Hello

At first I want to say that is always recommended to use compatible and tested RAM modules. On this way you will be sure it will work well and without any problems.

According the notebook specification you can upgrade RAM to 2GB max and compatible modules are: PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-2M51) and PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-2M1G).

You can use faster RAM modules but for me it is really not necessary. The notebook specification is 333MHz bus speed and faster modules will not help that notebook runs faster. It is better to buy 2 x PA3313U-2M1G and you will have no problem and notebook will runs much much faster than before.

The recovery CD you should order from the Toshiba service partner.

Hi all,

I'm really in need of your assistance in upgrading my toshiba Satellite 5200-801 (Model: PS520E-31P1D-EN), basically its the factory spec versions (specs shown in link below)
http://www.cwrose.de/toshiba/s5200.html

What i want is to get the fastest internal memory you can buy for this model (currently I have the default two sticks of 256mb DDR 266MHz CL2.5 memory). Probably one gig of memory will do (I might get more, but it depends on the price).
Plus i want to upgrade the HD to 160 gig (approx), as well as getting a HD that's faster then the current 4200rpm 60gig Hitachi HD (as fast as is possible for my laptop's specs).

Anyone know what the best options would be?

Someone was saying that it would all cost under 100 (which would be cool), but i don't know anything about compatability of different companies etc.
Can anyone recommend what hardware ...and where *hopefully ebay or dabs :)
I need to go to get this sorted out

PS:
FYI, I'll be mainly using the laptop for graphics, video's and the interwebz.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Answer:Memory and HDD upgrade question - Satellite 5200-801

Hi

You can upgrade the Satellite 5200-801 memory and HDD.
The notebook?s memory can be upgraded up to 1GB RAM. So you could use 2 x 512MB PC2100 DDR-RAM modules.

Check this Satellite 5200-801 link:
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=6116&ft=m&st=3

In my opinion you can use memory modules from different manufacturers but the module has to support these specifications: 200-Pin PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SODIMM
I assume you could use also a 400Mhz module because the notebook supports a 400Mhz FSB too.

I think a 160GB IDE HDD upgrade is not possible. From my knowledge the BIOS could not support such huge HDD size. But this is only my personal opinion. If I would be you then I would try a smaller HDD like 100GB or 120GB.

Answer:Question about memory frequency on Satellite A200-1GH

That normal, since your CPU is working with a FSB of 533 which does not mean that the FSB rises if you install faster modules. Why do you think, does tosh install such modules if the CPU would be capable of more FSB.
IF the CPU would be capable to run on a higher FSB then why don?t they install faster modules? Because the CPU does only run on a FSB of 533.

Here?s a site which shows the FSB of your CPU -> http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/coreduo.htm

Hy!

I'd like to buy A100-906 notebook. It has 1024Mb DDR2 533mGz memory but I want to rise DDR2 memory upto 2Gb. So my question is:
Are these 1024Mb the single DDR2 1024Mb plate in one DDR2 slot and the second DDR2 slot is empty or they are the couple of 512Mb DDR2 plates and both DDR2 slots are occupied?

Thanks

Answer:Question about DDR2 memory on Satellite A100-906

Hi

In my knowledge the notebook was delivered only with one 1024MB module and the second bank is free.
So it should be no problem with a memory upgrade to 2048MB

I have a Satellite Pro M70 (model PSM76E-00500KEN) with 512MB of RAM in one slot and would like to upgrade to 1GB or more. I'm considering putting a 1GB module in the spare slot, but have read that sometimes there is a performance advantage to be had from installing DDR2 modules in matched pairs. Can anyone tell me whether there is any performance advantage to be had from matching the modules in the two slots of the Satellite Pro M70? Or, in other words, is there any reason not to run 1GB in one slot and 512MB in the other?

Answer:Satellite Pro M70: DDR2 memory matching question

Hi

Dual channel DDR involves using 2 DDR memory modules to double the memory bandwidth. The DDR memory modules themselves are not any different. The only requirement is that the memory controller on the motherboard supports this dual channel interface.

As far as I know the Satellite A100-02M can be upgraded up to 2GB RAM.
This means that you can use 2 x 1GB RAM? 1GB DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) in each slot?

Two questions really, although they may be related.

1/. I have an A10 (XP/HE with a 2.2GHz Celeron processor & 256 MB installed RAM) which is now running very slowly - extremely laboured. Done all the usual things (defragged, spyware scanned, virus scanned, registry cleaned up with a utility etc). Could it be in need of more RAM? Or is there an alternative solution to try first and if extra would be a good idea.....

2/. .....do I need to install matched pairs of sodimms or can I take out one of the 128MB chips and put in a 512Mb, or just have a 512?

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite Pro A10 - memory question & general slowness

Hi,

I don't know what makes your computer to run so slowly. If it is software related, my only other idea is to reinstall the whole system.

About RAM: Upgrading the memory will definitely increase the speed of your machine, and I think, as you have only 256MB, this would be a good idea.
When upgrading you have to use the right memory type. I think you need PC2100 DDR-RAM. You can combine the modules as you want up to a max of 1024MB.

I have a Satelite S3000-X11 that I have upgraded to 512mb of RAM (2x256mb modules) plus an Hitachi 80gb 5,400rpm HD.
It is running very nicely but it does occasionally run out of physical memory. According to the Toshiba spec. for this machine, it should take 1024mb of memory, but everywhere else I look (including Crucial) says that 512mb is the max.
I have found some 512mb modules of the right type, but will they work?

Answer:Satellite 3000-X11: Memory upgrade question

The Satellite 3000-X11 has an 830MG (ICH-3) chipset included. The maximum memory supported by this machine (and chipset) is 2 x 512MB.

I do not know who the manufacturer from this RAM module is but I hope you use high quality product. Unfortunately I can not test it with my Satellite A100 but I believe you can use this RAM module.

According some reports here on the forum, maybe you will have problem to get it work together with one old RAM module. Test it please and please let us know how it works.

Anyway, I think you should use 100% compatible module. If you want check it here

Greetings
I've had the misfortune to get 2 KVR667D2S5/1G sodimms for my Toshiba Satellite A100-551 laptop which don't work by themselves either as a single sodimm or as a pair, it doesn't matter which slot they go into - they don't work.

However when the orignal 512Mb sodimm is put back into one of the slots - it doesn't matter which - either of the kvr etc sodimms work giving a total of 1.5Gb of ram.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Also is it poss. to upgrade cpu ie is cpu socketed. I've already upgraded many a laptop cpu when thay had socketed cpus, so I'm aware of the problems involved
Thanking you all for your kind help in this matter.

Answer:Question about memory & CPU upgrade on Satellite A100-551

Hi Mike

> I've had the misfortune to get 2 KVR667D2S5/1G sodimms for my Toshiba Satellite A100-551 laptop which don't work by themselves either as a single sodimm or as a pair, it doesn't matter which slot they go into - they don't work.
It?s clear -> modules seems to be not compatible ;)

> However when the original 512Mb sodimm is put back into one of the slots - it doesn't matter which - either of the kvr etc sodimms work giving a total of 1.5Gb of ram.

Cannot believe that! As far as I know this notebook was delivered only with one 512MB DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM module.
Of course you can upgrade the memory up to 2GB using two 1024MB modules.

The compatible memory can you find here:
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=20890&ft=m&st=3

> Also is it poss. to upgrade cpu ie is cpu socketed. I've already upgraded many a laptop cpu when they had socketed cpus, so I'm aware of the problems involved
Well, what to say, the CPU is socked? you can find out it easily using an hardware diagnostic program like ?Everest?. It would provide many useful information about your notebooks hardware.

But to be honest, I?m very skeptical about CPU upgrade on the notebooks.
If you have already changed several CPUs on the notebooks then you should know that this is not very easy and more tricky like the CPU upgrade on the desktop PCs.

Why not?

The Satellite P100 series supports the DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM memory modules.

You can upgrade it to max 4GB.

Check this page:

[Memory for Toshiba Satellite P100-160|http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=28327&ft=m&st=3]

There you can find the compatible module.

The original user manual (1997) for this machine says 2-Gigs is the maximum memory capacity for this 2-slot machine, but nowadays compatible 2-Gig chips are available.

Can I upgrade to 4 Gigs? (or is there some other aspect of this machine that limits Memory to 2-Gigs? )

Answer:Question about memory expansion Satellite A100 PSAA9E

Hi

The memory upgrade depends on the chipset!
If the chipset would support only 2GB then you could use max 2GB.

I think if the user manual said that 2GB are max which is possible then this will be right?

Of course you can check this as well.
Check your Intel chipset and then search on the Intel website for more details and properties of this chipset.

Answer:Memory compatibility question for a Satellite 2450-201S

Hi there,

it?s better not to mix the memory modules. Especially, if you have two different manufacturers and two different timings. Not good.
It is better to have two similar memory modules, because of compatibility issues.

Hi,
how do you assign more memory to the graphics card on Satellite A200-1V0 laptop?
thanks

Answer:Question about graphics card memory on Satellite A200-1VO

Hi there,

in your case it?s not possible to change the size of graphics memory by yourself because the graphics memory in your machine is shared with the main memory, so if you upgrade the main memory then the graphics memory should increase. But this is regulated by the chipset and the user has no influence on it.

The installed ATI MOBILITY RADEON supports own fix memory. It's not shared video ram.

you can try the stick, I think the stick will clock down from 200Mhz frontsidebus (PC3200) to 166Mhz (PC2700) and should run flawless.

Some of drivers conserning this laptop are outdated compared to latest drivers on device manufacters site. Is it safe to use these newer drivers or is it recommended to stick with the older drivers that are on Toshiba site?

And second question: Is there a way to getting memory working the fastest possible supported? BIOS options don?t include any options for memory settings. Why is the memory running that low mhz on default? CPU-Z is showing that the current dram frequency is 532,2mhz. What is the maximum, is it 667mhz? Surely it can?t be 1 066 MHz as promised in specs?

Answer:Satellite C660-1F1 - Question about newer drivers and memory speed

Hi cryogenized,

> Some of drivers conserning this laptop are outdated compared to latest drivers on device manufacters site. Is it safe to use these newer drivers or is it recommended to stick with the older drivers that are on Toshiba site?
Why you want to update your drivers? Do you expect a performance boost with newer drivers?

Generally speaking with the official drivers from Toshiba you are on the safely side because they are pretested. So you can make sure they work properly and don?t cause any hardware damages. Installation of other drivers happens on your own risk!

> And second question: Is there a way to getting memory working the fastest possible supported? BIOS options don?t include any options for memory settings. The notebook is equipped with 1066 MHz DDR3 modules and the RAM speed is depending on FSB of CPU. If your CPU is throttling down, the RAM modules will also run on lower speed. On high CPU usage (100%) the RAM modules should run with 1066MHz speed I think.

Hello

Answer:Satellite L20-101: Question about memory modules mixing PC2-4300 and PC2-4200

Hi Pawel,

In principle there is no problem with mixing RAM modules of slightly different types but normally the total RAM will only run at the speed of the slower module. If your notebook recognises the correct amount of RAM from both sticks then there will ne no problem.

Hi, my sister has this laptop and i am upgrading it for her at the moment.

I have read the product description for this item and it does not make any mention of having wifi access inside.

I have a spare Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card PA3189U-1MPC and i want to give this to my sister. Is there anyway that this can be fixed inside her laptop by adding some kind of antenna, (if possible please specify the antenna type that i need)

I would prefer doing it this way that buying an external card.

Also, i have another question i have a spare 256MB card PA3127U-1M25 and i would like for my sister to use this for her upgrade but i am noticing that her laptop uses PA3086U-1M25 with 144 pin PC 133. Is there anyway at all that she could use my spare memory card. I figure that she most likely will not be able to but i just want to make sure because i would prefer not to waste my money here.

It also appears that my sister has lost her product recovery CD. Is there anyway that i can buy this from Toshiba? I do have a XP windows Pro generic CD that i could use but i would prefer to use the recovery CD that came with this model when she purchased it.

Thank you

As far as I know this memory are compatible with your notebook.

1. 128MB Infineon/Toshiba Notebook 144p PC133 SODIMM (p/n PA3108U-1M25)
2. 256MB Toshiba Notebook 144-pin PC133 SDRAM SODIMM Memory (p/n PA3086U-1M25)
3. 512MB Kingmax/Toshiba Notebook 144pin PC133 SODIMM (p/n PA3085U-1M12)

In my opinion you should contact the service partner. They can give you some more informations about parts which are 100% compatible with your machine. Please look at

Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L755-161 and Windows 7 32bit installed (for quite some time) - when checking My Computer properties I can see that from 8GB of RAM only 2.74GB are usable.

Is this a normal value for usable memory?
Would this change depending on the additional software installed or would this only depend on hardware?
Would this value change (hopefully increase) if I reinstall my Windows 7?

Second thing:
Would it be possible/wise to upgrade to Windows 10?
Are all necessary drivers for Windows 10 released and where can they be safely downloaded?

Hello. I'm using Windows Vista and I have a problem with my VGA settings. There is no option to set the amount of share memory that my videocard is using. Neither in the BIOS nor in the Catalyst Control Center. I can't even set my display's refresh rate to 70 Hz because the driver is automised the settings to 60 Hz with no modification options. How can I change that? When I try to play Call of Duty even the intro movies are skippy, even after installing the latest version of Direct X. The game is running relatively good, but I think on this configuration it should run much better.
Here are my specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron M 1,5 Ghz
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200M up to 256 MB
RAM: 1,5 Ghz

Answer:Satellite L30-101 videocard memory: How to change the amount of shared memory?

The notebook's screen is not a CRT, it's a TFT. You can't raise the refresh rate above 60 Hz. It's normal. Why do you need 70 Hz? The Vista is a very new OS, and the drivers are not perfect yet.

Maybe you should try to download another driver from Toshiba (for example L30-134 PSL30E). As I heard, Vista needs 1 gb memory to run perfectly. If you want better performance maybe you should try using WinXP. The L30 series is for office work not for games.

The Xpress 200M chipset have ATI X300 videocard, and that's not a strong one. The 1.5 Ghz Celeron M is about as strong as the desktop Celeron 2 Ghz. I think you should be happy, because Call of Duty is running on your notebook.

Prior to that I used the sat pro 4600 for several hours and the surface over the memory-boards got very hot.
Is there anybody out there who faced the same problems? Concerning replacement: Should I better go for PC100 Chips instead PC133?

Thanks in advance : Bernie

Answer:Satellite Pro 4600: Strange memory issue - memory seems to

Hi

The fact is that Toshiba recommend using these memory modules:
PA3003U-1M03 32MB MEMORY KIT
PA3004U-1M06 64MB MEMORY KIT
PA3005U-1M12 128MB MEMORY KIT
PA3069U-1M25 256MB MEMORY KIT

It seems that PA3069U-1M25 256MB is a PC100 module.
Well, like you have suggested the memory-boards got very hot. In my opinion the faster PC133 produce a high temperature and this could be a problem.

The memory types supported by this cpu and ivy Bridge 09 seems to be DDR3 - perhaps also DDR3L/RS ?
This intel test shows they tried mobile platforms based on Intel? 7 series chipset using 3
rd Gen Intel? Core™ i7 processors (codename Ivy Bridge) works with ddr3L. Can I trust it works in your laptop or did you limit it some way?
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...n-results.html

Also page 25 in this Intel document lists the memory models supported by the 3rd gen intel mobile family.
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www...-datasheet.pdf

Why I am considering other memory types is the lower prices and easier availability and also less power needed.

Can someone who knows or designed this hardware tell me what my possibiles are here?

Thank you,

I have a computer I built and used since 2010 running well. It has two matched 4GB sticks of DDR3 for a total of 8GB. I have two remaining slots (empty) for ram on the motherboard to add more ram. Do I need to find the exact same memory as the ram I am currently using or does it matter?

Answer:Question regarding Dual Channel Memory- Mix or Match Memory

If you can get the same kit again it would be best but if you can get a kit with the same timings, speed, and voltage you should be okay. You should use cpu-z to find out your kit model and timings it supports. CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID At the moment your two current sticks should in the white slots.

I'm a newbie. Anyone can Pls tell me if I can use my Sat A40 notebook to watch satellite channels? I wonder if I need a receiver or is this notebook working as one? If yes,pls tell me how to connect.

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A40: Question about TV and satellite channels

Well, which exactly A40 do you have?
As far as I know the Satellite A40 doesn't include a TV tuner. In this case you cannot search any channels.
As far as I know this unit has only an S-video output. So if you connect the notebook to TV you can only watch DVD movies which are running on the notebook.

What is the maximum amount of memory that can be installed into a Satellite Pro L10? When I bought the laptop in 2005, it was 1GB. Is this limit now higher with the new BIOS released on 6th Nov 2009?

Answer:Max Memory for Satellite Pro L10

Satellite Pro L10 (PSL15E) can handle with 1 GB RAM only.
BIOS update has nothing to do with it and after BIOS update this value will not be changed.

I've just bought a 1GB memory module to fit into my laptop, but when I put it in and start the laptop up a blue screen appears and tells me there is a problem with one of the graphics card drivers and then the computer continually restarts.
I updated the BIOS and the 'display drives? from the Toshiba website and changed the virtual memory settings then tried again and now it either continually restarts as before or occasionally will start as normal and open windows but will be very, very slow and not all the graphics will appear on the screen, (for example the text saying 'start' on the task bar is not there, some parts of windows are blacked out, and the boxes around buttons such as 'ok' and 'cancel? do not appear.)

I tried everything I can think of and nothing works although if I take the new memory out and just leave the old 512MB module in it is fine. I checked the memory and it is of the correct type, is there anyone there who has experienced similar problems or who knows how to solve this, please?

Answer:Satellite P30 -110 and new memory

Hi,

I think the memory itself is not working properly, because the P30 can handle memory up to 2GB. You should go to the shop and get a new one.

Dear Sirs,
please help me to understand what type of memory modules is compatible with satellite L20-100?

on your site I've found description only for L20-101 -
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/productPage.do?service=EU&PRODUCT_ID=107212
-
and there is this:

System memory standard : 512 MB
maximum expandability : 2,048 MB
technology : DDR2 RAM
expansion module sizes : 128, 256, 512, 1,024 MB

but on different sites I found that maximum expansion module size = 512 Mb

and in instruction manual (russian pdf) they say that module should be DDR instead of DDR2!!!

which one should I buy?

is this one suitable:
Kingston DDR2 512Mb PC-4200 (533 MHz) SO-DIMM KVR533D2S4/512
200-pin?

Can I use same but 1024 Mb?

What modules are compatible?
Can I just add another 8GB module or do I need to remove the default module and add 2x 8GB of the same type?

Thanks for help.

Answer:Satellite L50-B-2FH: How to add memory

Hi

You can use the DDR3L RAM (1.600 MHz) modules.
The notebook SATELLITE L50-B-2FH was equipped with one 8GB RAM module.

If you want to extend the memory up to 16GB RAM, you should add another compatible 8GB DDR3L RAM (1.600 MHz) module… the current module can be still used… you don’t need to replace it..

Hi!
I have bougth a Sat Pro A60 and in the manual it says that normally have "256 or 512mb on motherboard and PC2100 256, 512 or 1024mb modules can be installed in the expasion memory slot" but mine only has 192MB of RAM as I've seen on System Properties and every time I look for memory upgrade in different websites it gives me the option of PC2700 for A60 series.
I personally don't have any idea of what is a pc2100 and if it has any difference with pc2700 but I don't want to buy the wrong one.
Another question: if I install 256MB does it means that I'll have 256 or 256+192 (which is what I have now)???
Thanks!!!

Answer:Need help with Satellite Pro A60 memory

Hi Catherine,

Your A60 has a 256Mb RAM module in slot 1. The reason why your properties show 192 Mb is because 64Mb is reserved for your graphics card in the BIOS. This has the effect of reducing your available RAM to 192 Mb.

You can indeed fit extra RAM if you wish, but be careful to get RAM modules which are compatible with your A60.

Your memory following the upgrade will be 192 Mb from slot 1 plus whatever size RAM module you fit into slot 2.

~~~~~~~~~~~ I will try to keep this brief. In other posts I have mentioned problems with Fallout 4 slowing down during game play then speeding up again. Read my signature and you will see I got a better card yet Fallout 4 is acting weird when it never used to. Could it be that I got a new Nvidia driver version? It never used to do this, not even after after the new "high definition pack" update. So, being that I still have a DDR3 based MoBo, should I get some more memory? My board (stamped in white next to the memory slots,) says 2600. Does this mean this is the fastest memory it will support??? I am on a tight budget and I already have 2 sticks of 4gig in 2 of the 4 slots. Does this mean I just need to say get another stick of 2600?? Say even just a 4gig stick? Fallout 4 just sucks that memory up. :~/
Hello,
i'm interested in buying a Satellite L10-226 Notebook, but this has only 256 MB DDR-Ram. Because of this i will update the Ram to 512 MB DDR-Ram after buying. Which memory does Toshiba use for this modell (Timings/Speed/Producer)?
If i put one 512 MB DDR-Ram inside and sell the original 256 MB Modul, is there any garanty problem if the Notebook has a defect or are i'm allowed to change the memory by myself?
Thanks for your help,
Kind Regards,
BoLzI
Answer:Satellite L10-226, which memory inside?
Hi,
I can't find any specific details for the L10-226 but I did find some information for the L10-224 which has two RAM slots available and uses either 1 x 256Mb module or 1 X 512Mb module leaving 1 slot spare.
If you L10-226 has this configuration then your cheapest upgrade would be to add a second 256Mb module in the second slot giving you a total of 512Mb. The module for this is 200-Pin PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SODIMMpart number PA3311U-1M25
The 512Mb module is part number PA3312U-1M51.
The RAM mnodules are user replaceable components so changing them will not affect your warranty at all. However, if your notebook subsequently sevelops a fault with the RAM modules then you would not be able to get them changed under the Toshiba warranty, you would need to return them yourself to the supplier from whom you obtained them.
Hi
I replaced Intel Celeron with Pentium M in my Toshiba Sat A50-492 (PSA50E-01P02VPL). I did this partly because the manual says it has a higher memory limit on Pentium (2GB) than on Celeron (1GB). Unfortunately laptop still beeps if equipped with more than 1GB RAM. Could you please help me how to use 2GB with this hardware?
When I was exchanging the processor I had to program cmos or something to make it possible to run Pentium M.
Maybe another programming is neccessary for a memory limit?
I upgraded bios to version 1.40.
Here are some links:
[specs saying maximum expandability: 2GB|http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?LNG=20&service=CE#tab0;]
[manual explaining the higher memory limit with Pentium|http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport1.toshiba-tro.de%2ftedd-files2%2f0%2fuserman-pl-20090202081853.zip]
The third source states 1GB limit, but they're wrong in saying 512MB is the maximum memory piece that can be inserted, cause at the moment I ran on 1GB (PC2700, DDR, 333MHz) in the first bank and the second is empty.
Answer:Re: Memory limit for Satellite A50-492
Hi
Memory limitation depends on the chipset on the motherboard.
It?s not software related so nothing will help you to increase the memory or to break the limitation.
This is also mentioned din user manual?
Hi,
By the way: you can buy cheaper one and test it at home. If there is some problem you can send it back anytime.
Hello there,
I have recently installed Vista Ultimate on my Satellite M60 Laptop, it is activated and updated but I think it is short on memory. I have two 512 banks of memory and have bought two 1gb memory chips from crucial to install instead of the 512 banks.
Question is, I can find one bank under a lid on the bottom of the laptop but no other, where abouts is it situated and how do I access it?
I have done a similar upgrade on an older model and have no problems with working on the machine but in that case they were both underneath and easily accessed.
Hope you can help.
Answer:Memory upgrade on Satellite M60
Hi Russell
If both memory slots are not placed under the memory cover (bottom side) one of them is usually placed under the keyboard. To access it you must remove the plastic cover placed over the keyboard and after doing this the keyboard itself.
Hi
Hopefully I will receive some reward points from you because I think I can provide useful answers ;)
The laptop seems to support the DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM modules.
You can use such modules from different manufacturers but in my opinion it?s better to buy a brand name module instead of no-name module due to the better performance
This site provides some compatible Kingston modules for Satellite A100-294
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=24854&ft=m&st=3
You can also mix the modules; I mean you could use 512+1024 or 1024+1024 or 512+512. All these options are possible
