Satellite U500-1DR series Notebook is not detected by the TOSHIBA Website

Question: Satellite U500-1DR series Notebook is not detected by the TOSHIBA Website

Hey,

My Toshiba Satellite U500 - 1DR series notebook (Serial no . 1A058758R) is not detected by the TOSHIBA online autodetect system. When try to get notebook detected manually on the website, I fingd that the model (Satellite U500- 1DR) is listed neither in the list of available models nor in that of discontinued models. I am unable to download appropriate softwares/updates from the website.

Preferred Solution: Satellite U500-1DR series Notebook is not detected by the TOSHIBA Website

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite U500-1DR series Notebook is not detected by the TOSHIBA Website

Hello

If autoetection doesn?t work you can find it manually but not using model name but model part number. Your U500-1DR has part number PSU9ME-xxxxx so please check Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and check for Satellite U500 with part number or short model number PSU9ME.

Can you find it?

I've had my Toshiba Sat 1900 laptop for about 1 years now and I'm starting to get a few problems with it. I find that the computer is running slow, the monitor is acting weird when I scroll up and down I'm getting a wigly/wavy look from the screen (pixel problem?) and it just doesn't work as good as it did.

I've been told laptops don't last as long as a desktop pc. Is this true?

What should I do about my laptop with these problems? thanks.

Answer:Need some Toshiba utilities for Satellite U500-1D8

Huh ... I am afraid you will be disappointed now but here is the truth:

# Your notebook model was delivered with 64bit operating system only so if you need Win7 drivers, tools and utilities you can download them from Toshiba support & download page but for 64bit OS ONLY.
# ?Toshiba recovery disc creator? cannot be downloaded. If you don't use original Toshiba recovery image there is no sense to have it. This creator is not designed to create recovery image for current state but so burn already created recovery image (data files) to CD/DVD media.
# Toshiba photo service is additional software you can use with ?factory settings? only and cannot be downloaded additionally.
# Microsoft office 2007 trial version is kind of ?present? for people who have decided to buy Toshiba notebooks and it is not offered as additional option. You can use it with ?factory settings? only. If you want to have this trial version then contact Microsoft and ask for download.
# Toshiba disk creator is also additional software and can be used with ?factory settings? only. No download.

If you have more questions let me know.

Hi all,

I ve been told rather advised to join this forum in order to require help for my BSOD problem. Firstly, I honestly wasnt expecting that amount of people suffering exactly the same problem with Win 7 !!! That was really freaked me out and I do really hope some of you guys can be able to provide some solid info....

I recently bought this laptop which is brand new and my first time to experiencing with blue screen problem with it.

I copied, zipped and attached it as you can see the "DMP.FILE" for anyone whom may or may not be able to give me an advice for this particular problem.

Thx in advance and your help will be highly appreciated.

Answer:BSOD Toshiba U500 Satellite Win 7 - 32

Unfortunately, the Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following (this will not affect the analysis of the current files - but it may help later files that are acquired):
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

So, let's try this the old-fashioned way.....

This is a STOP 0xF4 error that blames ntkrnlpa.exe as at fault. This isn't the case - as a problem of this sort would cause many more problems than you're currently suffering from.

The most likely issue, IMO, is either a "hacked" OS - or a malware infection. If this is the case, then repairs of any sort are unlikely to work effectively.

If this isn't the case, then you try running Driver Verifier according to these directions:

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll... Read more

Hello,

on my Satellite U500 -11C, the power supply is not recognize anymore (the green LED remains off when i plug it)

i tested my power supply and it is OK

i disassemble my laptop to check the connector and the power is OK from the external connector to the connector on the motherboard.

with my battery, the computer works (but the battery is not charging anymore)

Do you have any idea on how to solve this problem ?
What can i check ?

Answer:Satellite U500 -11C - Power supply not detected

> Do you have any idea on how to solve this problem ?
If the battery and the AC adaptor are ok, then only one problem can cause this: faulty motherboard.
Possibly there is something wrong with the power supply electronic on the motherboard.

Of course this is only my personal opinion but I don?t see any other reason for that?

If you don?t have this disk it?s no problem because you can order it from Toshiba directly:

Alternative install Windows from a Microsoft disk if you have such a disk and download all drivers from Toshiba page.

Windows 7 has been on the market for at least a year now. And I cannot believe, that there are only *4* drivers to download for a Windows 7 x 32 bit system (for 64bit System there are *145*). When one installs this system on U500 some of the drivers and almost all Toshiba Utilities are gone.. and there is no place, where you can download them from...
Can you , Support team, please do something about this question? A lot of people would be extremely grateful for that.

Kind regards

Answer:Satellite Pro U500-10N Drivers and Toshiba Utilities on Windows 7

Hello

If you want to discuss with support team than you must contact Toshiba hotline and explain the situation.
You are right. Win7 is long time on the market but it doesn?t mean that notebook manufacturers support both versions (32 and 64bit) for all notebook models.
Fact is that older notebook models delivered with Vista are supported for Win7 32bit but all newer notebooks like your U500 are mostly supported for 64bit version only.

Global trends in computing, mobile computing and software development go forward and it is important to have always better and faster systems. It is the reason why all notebook top sellers offer more and more platforms with 64bit OS only.

To be honest I don?t think Toshiba will offer 32bit support for U500.
I have U500-1EX with touch screen and use original OS that I got with.

Hi All,

I purchased Toshiba Satellite U500 laptop around 8 months ago which came with Home premium. now i am planing to upgrade it to Enterprise since i am using it for my office purpose and they have got the key for same.

from the Windows forum i see that there is no upgrade plan for windows 7 enterprise and i will have to do a clean install for this. i am ready for a clean install but how i can get all the Toshiba utilities like face detection, echo utility, recovery media creator etc. (the bundle of Toshiba utility which came with the laptop).

I am sure there should be a way for this and i would really appreciate any solution for the same.

Thank you.

Answer:Re: Satellite U500 - Win7 HP to Enterprise without loosing Toshiba utilities

Almost all Toshiba specific tools and utilities are offered on Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Have you already checked this page to see what you can find there?

I presume you want to install 64bit version and all offered drivers, tools and utilities are the same that Toshiba has used for recovery image creation.

Of course some tools like ?Toshiba recovery media creator? is not ready for download. You don?t need this tool for your own installation. This tool is designed for original recovery DVD creation.
If you want to make own OS installation and configuration it has nothing to do with recovery DVD creation.

Please note: additional software like Nero, McAffe and other stuff you can find in original recovery image will not be available for download.

Since the machine has no internal FDD, I used a USB FDD to make an ASR backup. The main backup is on a USB HDD, and the recovery disk was created in the USB FDD.

When attempting to use the ASR utility to restore the system to a new HDD, it fails with the message "Unable to find a floppy disk drive on the system" although the drive is clearly found as the machine boots. There are many references to this problem on Microsoft support, but none of them specific enough to help.

Do Toshiba have a solution or is it impossible to use ASR Backups on the Satellite series that have no internal FDD?

Answer:ASR Backup on Satellite A-series notebook

Hi,

usually the drive has to be recognized as a normal FDD, but I don?t know how the backup utility handles that thing.

Can you please post the links to the microsoft articles? Maybe I can try to find some solution.
Casually a little question: did you tried to put the data on a USB-stick and boot from it? Maybe it would be a idea to make on another computer a image from that disk and put it on a USB-stick.
Perhaps it works?

Keep me informed about your success.

Hello everyone,

My little more than one year old Satellite notebook won't turn on when I press the power button. The lights next to the button work, but the computer itself doesn't turn on (no HDD, no CPU).

I took it to a service, and today I called them - they're telling me that the video card overheated (and I didn't really understand, what I got out of it was that the soldered pins got detached) and that's what's causing the problem. They said they can solder it back for $250...

I'm a little skeptical, because I know that I can boot a [desktop] computer without a video card, at least to hear the HDD and the CPU.

Can it be possible that my computer doesn't boot because my video card is detached from the motherboard?

I'm also a little skeptical because I think what they're trying to do is rip me off, that's why I'm asking if this is reasonable. They charge me $30 bucks either way now that they opened my computer and "checked" what was wrong, and they walk away with even more money if they get me to agree to repair it...

My fear is that possibly they even fiddled with my video card now (let's say that the problem was a simple wire and they ruin the soldering on my video card...) just to get me to pay $250 bucks for the computer back.
If I choose to not repair this computer, they'll probably offer to buy it off of me for about the same price if not lower, and it's still a very good lapt... Read more

I can't find my last post regarding this, so apologies if this is a double up...

Other than disliking the OS 8.1 with its  OVERLY ANNOYING start screen/"charms" appearing whenever THEY wish, this appears to be a great little Laptop!

Reasonable specs for my needs, not unlike my 'Vista girl', but with a 750Gb hdd....

but.......... other than the A/C and WiFi lights at the front right, I don't see any others?

CPU activity in particular... so how do I know when it's running/struggling/etc???

Answer:CPU activity light on Toshiba Satellite C50-B series....?????

Hi OliviaITlover Depending on the laptop/computer brand and model you have, you won't have the same lights as others. Some offers light for the A/C, network (WiFi), network (Ethernet), disk usage, etc. while others only offers light for the A/C. Personally, I've never seen a light for the CPU usage. If you want to know your CPU usage (and if it's struggling), right-click on the taskbar and select Open Task Manager. From there, you'll see your CPU usage and if it's struggling or not.

Hi

As far as I know the L300-1AQ supports only the RGB port (VGA port).
This port provides only analog signal and I doubt you will be able to connect it to HDMI port because you cannot convert an analog signal in digital signal.

I don?t know what further ports the Toshiba Regza 37" LCD supports but I think in this case the HDMI port is not useful.

So my advent is a right off because of my/daughters stupidity turns out not only has the h/d failed and needs replacing but I never made a back up and the key for the legitamate xp download has worn off the back of the notebook.

So my ex has said ..hey I have a couple of laptops that need a little work, get them both going and you can have one for free..she's shrewd that one.

So first one an old Toshiba satellite 1800 series with xp model number s1800-814

I can't find the wifi setting to get wifi..she only remembers it ever being hardwired lan I think she had this tail end of 2001..also sometimes when it's on a long time...it just turns off

secondly

Compaq presario r3000 that she had after the toshiba..I think the backlight is out,,as it shows a black screen after start up and on start up the colour is very amber..after start up the screen goes black but tilt it slightly and you can see in the shadows the screen...I've been told this is a backlight failure and it's a simple fix? but also on this one the mouse pad will not work as i try to use the pad and no movement.

I know these faults may not seem biggies to the more informed but at the momment I can't afford new so if I can re-love them and give them life two happy people will be ..well happy

Any ideas Guys?

Hi!

I have a TOSHIBA notebook Satellite P10, Windows XP.

It is a new computer, not second hand!
The problem is that it shuts down itself when I connect it to the AC adapter.

The only way I can work is charging it while it is off and then using it while on battery.

The problem appeared after 20 days I bought it.
I sent it to the TOSHIBA service, they updated the BIOS, it worked perfectly for 5 hours (connected to the AC adapter) and then the same problem appeared.

Do you have any suggestions?
I am looking forward to your replies!

I've been received BSOD's and freezing during start-up or even during boot mode for the past two days on my toshiba laptop. It's a miracle that I'm even able to use Safe mode at the moment -- it took me like 10 tries -- so I'm trying to type this up quickly before I encounter another problem.
Here are the dumps.

Answer:BSODs on Toshiba Satellite notebook

The most defitive minidump error is 0x000000D3: DRIVER_PORTION_MUST_BE_NONPAGED
Basically a driver is attempting to access a higher IRQ Level as paged when it actually should be non-paged. This results in system crashes.

The driver in question is kl1.sys which belongs to your Kaspersky antivirus. Try uninstalling it via Safe Mode and reboot. Then reinstall and see if that helps.

Hello,
I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to upgrade my drivers, so I connected myself on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my laptop is not referenced on the site, there are well *M70-168* and *M70-170* but not *M70-169*
I tried the reconnaissance by serial number, result: NOT RECOGNIZED

I tested the autod?tection, and there too, the result was: NOT RECOGNIZED.
I am astonished that my laptop is not recognized on the official site of TOSHIBA, whereas I had bought it in a store.

Somebody can tell me if he had the same problem, and give me the indications in order to upgrade my laptop?

Thank you

Answer:Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

Satellite M70 is pretty old notebook model and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn?t work properly. Your notebook is European model and has part number PSM70E (very important for search).
Anyway you can find all drivers or updates manually. Please do it as follow:

Visit Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
Choose follow options:
Product type - ARCHIVE
Family - SATELLITE
Product series - SATELLITE M SERIES
Model - SATELLITE M70 (PSM70)
Short Model No - PSM70E
Operating system - your OS

And all available stuff will be listed there.

If you have more questions let us know.

Toshiba laid out on the site archive *vap-20091027105222.zip*, which contains the *corrupted* file!
HERE is the link.
It is packed with file *TC20043100A.exe* (if there is an error decompressing checksum CRC). Windows 7 also can not run TC20043100A.exe so I can not install *Value Added Package*

Lay, please file a *corrected* !

Answer:Satellite L - VAP on Toshiba website is corrupted

Hi

Are you sure that the file is corrupted?
I have even downloaded the file and I didn?t get any CRC error. It was successful to unzip the file so I can?t notice any problem.

In my opinion you should try it again. Maybe the download wasn?t successful.

Good luck! :)

Hi,

maybe you should download the newest version of the powersaver for your machine, remove the old version (just go to Add/Remove Applications in your "Control Panel" and uninstall it) and install the downloaded one.

You can download the powersaver here:

(I think I posted this on the wrong forum at first- hope this one is ok!)
Hello everybody, first let me say hi as I'm new to this site!

I have a Toshiba Satellite U305-S5077, with an Intel Pentium Duel-Core processor T2080, 1024 MB DDR2 SDRAM (512MB X 512MB) (uses PC2-5300) 160 GB HD.

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM because it runs a little slow for my tastes with Windows Vista.

My question is, would it be beneficial to invest in another Duel Channel/Duel Core RAM Stick, or would it be just the same just to purchase a regular old memory stick (non duel core)?

BTW, the RAM's that I'm looking at in particular are:

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145156

-or-

Kingston 1GB DDR2 PC5300 SO-DIMM / NOTEBOOK MEMORY

http://shop3.outpost.com/product/5274167
I don't know much about duel core/duel channel, but when I went on to Crucial's memory uprgrade site, it said the following:

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?

A: Yes.

To benefit from the performance advantages offered by dual-channel systems, you should install memory in identical pairs. Installing a kitted pair is the best way to ensure that your modules are identical, right down to the chip count.Click to expand...

So it seems to me like it would be better to buy the duel core.

Oh, and one last question, does maximizing/increas... Read more

Answer:Need help please making a Duel Core RAM purchase for Toshiba Satellite U305 series

Thanks again

Thanks Again.

Found a replacement for my motherboard.

Unfortunately the support personnel there was unsure if some chipset could still be usable. Is it possible that any of them would be damaged or already have been damaged? How can I check without a second pc to check them?

I desperately need to fix my pc. My brother's projects are all inside the hard drives (I have two) which is a little difficult to extract in pc rental shops without the software (their school issued it for uniformity).

Can Toshiba laptop C660-1LD be used to help reboot another Toshiba model L70D-4R?

Since upgrading to W10 from W7, laptop cuts out and no windows screen.
Get Toshiba screen, says press F2/F12 then password. Enter this and can only get F2 but it won't allow reboot. Will allow date change but if change this will it restore settings to an earlier date? Also tried 0 and on switch, also other F buttons but no luck just black screen, white dash at top left, long beep and nothing.

Could problem be hard drive? Any help, much appreciated. Thanks

working on a laptop that I removed a stack of viruses from. The laptop is running fine with a USB mouse but I would like to get the touchpad working as well. My problem is that the friend's son had the laptop: I know for sure that he filled it full of porn and viruses (which I removed) BUT he wont admit to having physically damaged the touchpad. I've googled all the forums, been on the Tosh site and reinstall driver about ten times, applied SP3, checked BIOS, toggled Fn-F9 ... but I still cant get the touchpad to
work.

There's nothing in the BIOS and Toshiba diagnostics tests everything bar the touchpad. Does anybody have any suggestions as to something else that I could boot to that will tell me if there is a hardware fault?

tks

Hi,
In Israel we have this model:
Toshiba Satellite Pro L100-124 PSLA1E-00500DG3
I've tried to search for it in computers.
toshiba-europe.com, but didn't find anything?!?

Why? is it a Fake?

Answer:Why Satellite Pro L100-124 is not listed on Toshiba website?

Hi

Maybe you know it or not but Toshiba delivers many notebooks from the same series but the notebook are not very different. The sub models are possibly different in the hardware configuration. You know; different HDD sizes, CPU speed, etc?

I have googeld a little bit for this numer and I found the notebook on a Toshiba Poland site. It?s a polish language:
http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/productPage.do?LNG=20&service=CE&PRODUCT_ID=114411 &tab=3

However, you can check the Toshiba Europe site and you will find the different notebook and also the Satellite Pro L100 series:

I downloaded the following drivers (for my Notebook; Satellite A10-163 Model number : PSAA9E)

lan-sa100-psaa-xp-8021101
lan-sa100-psaa-xp-8021102
lan-sa100-psaa-xp-9024
lan-sa100-psaa-xp-9025

I unzipped each of these and can only find a PROUnstl.exe file, which un-installs any existing drivers; I cannot find a "Setup.exe" or anything that sets up either of my wired or wireless networking cards. I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Is there anywhere I can get a driver that has an easier to use "install.exe" file in it?

Is there anyone that can help me over-come this problem?

Answer:LAN Drivers from Toshiba Website - won't work - Satellite A10-163

First of all, all drivers which are available on the Toshiba driver page should works properly. I?m 100% sure about this. If you don?t find any setup.exe or install.exe in the driver folder so you have to use another driver installation procedure.
Go to the device manager, choose the LAN card and install the driver. Please choose the driver form the driver download place.

When I have the touchpad enabled the cursor jumps around the screen when I'm typing somthing causing me grief. It also has minimized the current browser I'm in, not always but has happened.

When I disable it and connect my Logitech wheel mouse (which I'v used for 2+ years) the problem disappears but I can't highlight/select things properly. For example, normally when I double click on a word it highlights but it doesn't do that anymore. Or when I try to select a a few words it selects the entire sentence or parts of it. I have to use the shift and arrow key. Also using the vertical scroll gives me a problem as well.

I downloaded and installed the current mouse drivers, changed the USB the mouse connects to...nothing. I'm using XP Home version (i've only used the pro version before).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

how I can solve it...

I want recover my computer to the orginal... i see there is some problems when I work with programs... it is freeze and give me some errors...
I want to restore it to orginal...

Answer:Cannot install Toshiba Recovery image on my Satellite notebook

You can install original recovery image and set notebook to ?factory settings? using two possible options:
-to use HDD recovery installation (F8 at start-up and ?repair my computer? option)
-to use recovery DVD

If I understand you right you have installed own OS in hope to use your notebook but on this way you have ?deleted? this repair my computer option so you will not be able to start installation from HDD. Your only option is usage of recovery DVD.

Now the million dollar question: have you created recovery DVD following Toshiba advice to do this?

Hi Guys n Gals.

Any input on this would be great.
Its a Toshiba C650 PSC08E

I recently Restored my System to factory settings using the Toshiba recovery partition. Every thing was going fine i had installed Windows.

Was back to the desktop, it started to instal all of the Tosiba drives and programmes when it started to install Face Recognition. It froze for 5-10 minutes and shut itself down.

<The more relevent info>
I restarted my computer to a message telling me No bootable device. Restarted and went into Bios.
No HDD being detected.
It seems if i Enter Bios then Save and exit. (Which makes the comp restart)Bios detectes it fine.

I First thought it was a bad install and a format would work. So i did.
This time with win7 install disk. Same thing got to the desktop ,except the toshiba drivers didnt install themselves. I went to the toshiba website and installed the relevent drivers Currently working fine I am using it to type this post now.

Just every time i power on from a Shutdown I have to enter then exit Bios.
I have upated Bios, I Dont posses a Recovery CD. ( Is this any different to downloading drivers after a fresh install?)
I Would buy one but they quite expensive, The one i need is ?30.

Not quite sure how this forum operates, if there is a reward system i will be sure to stick to it,
Desperatly need some help here. This is driving me insane

Answer:Satellite C650: HDD not detected after Toshiba factory reset

OK. The first thing you should do is to enter BIOS, set it to default settings and check how it works. I think HDD should be recognized properly and you should be able to start notebook without entering BIOS.

Now after clean OS installation you cannot install recovery image from HDD. What you need now is original recovery disc. I don?t understand why you didn?t create it when everything was OK.
Anyway, new recovery disc can be ordered on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

If you want to keep your OS version install all missing drivers, tools and utilities additionally. You can download them from Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

If you need more assistance you are welcome.

Hi guys,

please do me a favour. i am in Dubai, i bought my Toshiba laptop in Dubai. That is Satellite A300-1G5, Sr.No. 98487056Q.
The problem is: whenever i try to find my laptop in Toshiba help and support web site, it is not detecting my machine.

I have tried Auto detect, putting serial no in the box, both option, but all returns with the same result---- not available in region.

Until I detect my machine I am unable to identify the exact driver and so cannot check for updates.
It is strange that Toshiba laptop is not getting found by Toshiba website.

Can anybody help me?

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5 is not detected on Toshiba support page

It can happen that system somehow cannot identify notebook model but for drivers download it is just important to know first part of the part number.
So your notebook belongs to PSAG4E series and on Toshiba download page you can define exact notebook model and see which drivers are available.

Have you tried to choose your product manually?

Hi

I have had my Toshiba Satellite Pro P200D-10P for 3 years now and have had a recurring problem. If I shut it down for any reason I then cannot reboot it thereafter, sometimes for several hours and at worst for several days. In BIOS, under 'Main' it has 'None' under the 'Hard Disk' title. If I try and boot it up I get the error; 'For Realtek RTL8100E/8101E Fast Ethernet Network Adapter v1.02 (060529). PXE-E61: 'Media test failure, check cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.' I assume this is due to no hard drive being found in the boot sequence and LAN being used.

I have updated the version of BIOS to v1.07 and have tried removing each of the 1GB RAM to check if its due to bad RAM but that has not helped the issue.

I have removed and replaced the hard drive to ensure it is seated properly but that has not improved the problem.

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give.

Thank you.

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. This seems to occur with most Toshiba laptops that I have ever had anything to do with. Trying to find drivers, BIOS etc is a real PITA. I'm trying to find downloads for a Satellite L500 PSLS6A-00X013 but it doesn't show up any where. The serial number search is as useless as the part number search. Am I missing something?

I had similar problems w/ notebook - mousepad had to be replaced.

You could try to un-install all drivers in Device Manager then re-boot. Vista will re-install. Also make sure to go to OEM site and get updated driver - if available.

Note that you will lose mouse function completely after un-install. Have USB mouse or b/c familar with CTRL-ALT-DEL that will get you to screen so you can use arrow keys to restart system

Hi

I believe i need to update video drivers on my Toshiba laptop (it's a Satellite A660, but I don't think that's relevant).

I have tried to use the downloads page on the Toshiba website: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/download. It gives me no response, no list of products, nothing, whether I try to use the drop-down lists or enter my laptop's part number directly.
And it does the same using another laptop too.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there another way to get to product downloads?

thanks,
Simon.

I plan to replace the failing CDRW/DVD-drive in my Toshiba Satellite 5100-503 (european version, it was sold as 5105 in the US and other countries).
The built-in drive is a UJDA730.
As upgrade I consider the highly regarded a Slimline DVD+/-RW drive. Unfortunately, some research on the internet revealed that upgrading a notebook's optical drive is not as straightforward as one might hope. I had no trouble removing my old drive (you only have to remove the keyboard and unscrew two screws), so I consider myself capable of putting in an new drive instead. However, two problems remain:

-mechanical compatibily: The 6500A appears to have a different front bezel layout. Its eject button and LED are in a different position than that of my current drive, so I doubt I will be able to use my old bezel with the other one. In addition, the bezel of my old drive has a recess in the lower right corner (similar to that found on some Fujitsu-Siemens notebooks), which gives room for the volume control of the notebook. So I cannot reuse the old bezel, and the NEC's bezel will probably not allow me to close the drive's tray. I wonder if some Dremel-work on the plastic parts of the NEC drive will allow me to fit it in physically. Has anybody tried that?

-electronical compatibility: notebook drives generally do not have jumpers to change their Master/Slave/cable select configuration. Instead this is set within the firmware, so changing it requires flashing a new firmware, which is not ea... Read more

Answer:Replace my notebook drive in a Toshiba Satellite 5100/5105 - Experience?

Hi,

at first the CD drive in a Satellite 5100 is fixed mounted and only replaceable with the same model! So another modell could work, but as you see the bezel don't fits and perhaps the new drive doesn't fit to 100%! So you will have problems all the way!

What do you think about an external solution via USB or Firewire! This is the better way to upgrade!

Answer:Satellite L500 - Cannot find notebook model on Toshiba support page

Hi

Are you using the Tempro tool in order to register the notebook?
If yes, then you should update this tool to the latest version v3.33

Check this:
+Why does TEMPRO not accept my serial number as being valid?+

Otherwise the L500-158 belongs to the PSLJ3E series and all drivers can be found on the Toshiba European driver page:

Hi,
I have a Toshiba M45-S359 notebook laptop. About every 20-30 seconds, the wireless connection drops off (and immediately automatically reconnects). This is not a router issue because I tried 2 different routers (Linksys and Netgear) and also the wireless connection is perfectly stable on the other laptop I have. There are no interference issues. My phone operates at a very different (5.8 GHz) frequency. Also, the issue exists even when I have the laptop sitting very close to the router. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I bought my laptop 3 weeks ago, model: Toshiba Satellite A500 PSAR9A- 02s001
I bought it in Australia but i cannot find any driver support on www.toshiba.com.au.

Any help?

Answer:Cannot find my model Satellite A500 PSAR9A-02s001 on Toshiba website

Hi

This seems to be an Australian notebook series?
I?m not quite sure why it?s not listed on the Australian page but if you need the drivers then you can try to use the driver from the Toshiba European driver page as well?

There is an Satellite A500 PSAR9E series which is similar (or same???).
In my opinion the Win 7 drivers should work too.

I'm going to college next year and picking out a lap top. I need to know which is a better buy? i will be using it for gaming, school work, and video editing...

Asus G2Sg-A1 Gaming Notebook- $1,985
(http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g2sg-a1-gaming/4505-3121_7-32904283.html?tag=lst))
or
Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi6- $2,199
(http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-x205-sli6/4505-3121_7-32906098.html?tag=box4505)))

I like alot about each one but there are some slight differences...
The Toshiba has a 2.5ghz duo processor, where the asus only has the same, but the asus has 4gb ram and the toshiba only has 1.
The Toshiba has a 200gb 7200rpm hdd. The asus has a 320gb hdd, but is only 5500rpm.
Toshiba has a fingerprint thing on it which i like for good security reasons, but the asus has a video in tv tuner, which is great because I would end up buying a good one anyway.

I could just buy a 7200rpm 200gb harddrive for the asus laptop and prices would be equil

Odd issue. Toshiba website doesn't recognize my serial number. Has anyone encounted that? I assume alpha characters are upper case. Serial number is 9 characters long with alpha characters at either end of string.
Bizarre.
Has anyone had problems registering their laptops?

Wait a moment my friend. On which Toshiba website you try to do this? I hope you do not try to register non-European notebook model on European support page.

Am I right or you really try to do this? As far as I know you have an US notebook model.

Hi

I've had good results with SSDs in my Desktop PCs (both Win XP) so decided to fit one in my U500 laptop which has Win 7/64. The original HDD still works fine so I saved an image to a big USB drive and burnt a recovery DVD.

With the SSD installed and the USB drive connected, the image is found on the USB drive OK. I get to the Re-image prompt and select 'yes', then I get the message 'The system image restore failed. No disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found.'. From here it's downhill as at the next prompt the computer re-starts.

If I go back through the process and check the list of excluded discs, the SSD is shown there, but is un-checked (so not excluded).

Only problem I could think of is the new SSD is 240GB and the orginal HDD is 320GB though it's nowhere near full.

Any ideas I can try?

Stuart

Answer:How to install Win 7 on an SSD in Satellite U500?

Wait a moment.
Can you install recovery image using recovery DVD? I presume you have created one in the past.

Few years ago I had U500 and, as far as I know it has optical disc drive that can be used for ?regular? OS or recovery image installation. Do you have Microsoft installation disc? When you start OS installation has set-up access to the SSD?

Hi everyone.

I'll be replacing my Equium A200 and i have the choice to buy either the U400-22N or the U500-11G.
Can anyone tell me which is the better of the two as i can't see much difference. Advantages and disadvantages of each would be nice.

Thanks.

Answer:Re: Satellite U400 v U500, which one to buy

Without comparing specification for both notebook models I think it is better to buy newer Satellite U500. In my opinion the design is much better and without glossy surface that must be cleaned daily.

I saw it in the shop and I like it very much. In my opinion with SatelliteU500 Toshiba has designed very nice and small notebook.
For which purposed do you need this small notebook? I mean I cannot imagine U500 has not something that you need for your daily work.

Answer:Two questions about my Satellite U500-1FN

Hello
I will try to offer short answers but if you have more questions you are welcome.

# Probably you are missing something. I don?t know if you have installed all necessary drivers but try to disable illumibation in BIOS settings. Be also sure that Toshiba Value added package is installed on your machine.
# No. Now is too late. You can create recovery disc with this software only. In user?s manuals is clearly described how it works.

I'm using a Satellite U500 running Windows 7. Recently its been hanging quite often and i found the problem to be the cpu running at 100%. RAM is not even 50% utilised when this occurs. I opened task manager to find the offending process and nothing seems to be using more than 20% of the cpu at one time. Ran an antivirus as well as malwarebytes and there is nothing to be found.

Any suggestions at all on what it could be and how I could go about fixing this? Thanks!

Answer:Satellite U500 - CPU running at 100%

Hi Muvinda,

For me it sounds like that run many background programs and so you have 100% CPU usage. So it?s not a bug because many programs require a lot of CPU performance.

So please check the task manager again. I mean if CPU runs at 100% usage a program in task manager must cause this and in task manager you can find every program that runs in background.

Also it?s recommendable using a registry cleaner like CCleaner or similar. It can delete old registry keys and other old, unnecessary stuff.

Check this!!!

Hi,

I recentely purchased the Toshiba Satellite U500-120 but I'm dissapointed with the low battery life. I would like to know wether there are better batteries out their compatible with my Notebook ?

Answer:Satellite U500-120 which better battery ?

Hello

I found out that the U500-120 (not sure if all models are equipped with the same battery) uses the 6cell 3700mAh battery.
It?s a standard battery.

I think a stronger battery could be purchased too?
Usually all ASP (service partners) are able to order a compatible part (no matter what part this is) from the Toshiba head stock?

I think you should simply contact such guys and you would get the necessary and stronger battery

I recently bought Satellite U500 but today I noticed that when I press FN key it does not show any options on the top. I tried going TOSHIBA ASSIST and then Fn Accebilty but it says this System Cannot Run FN Accebility. Help.

And where can I download ATI Drivers because I saw on ATI website they dont provide anymore even Toshiba AUS dont have updates on their web?

Answer:Satellite U500-00X - FN key error

Hi

Regarding the FN key error you should try to reinstall the Toshiba Value Added Package. This package contains the FN key bar on top of the screen and I think it must be reinstalled. You can get it on the Toshiba website.

And why you want to update the display driver? Can you notice some problems with it?
If not you should not update the driver because you should be happy with preinstalled drivers and software. Never touch a running system. ;)

Hello all,

Can i replace my Satellite U500 DVD RW with blu-ray or blu-ray rw???? and if yes where can i buy the part from?? or where i can buy origenal Toshiba oem parts or parts???

Thanks all

Answer:Satellite U500, replace DVD RW with Blu-ray?

Hi

I think it should be possible but you have to find an internal Bluray drive with the compatible master/slave/c-sel settings.
Optical disk drive with wrong settings would not be recognized by BIOS.

As far as I know some Toshiba notebooks are equipped with an internal bluray drive.
I recommend asking an ASP for an compatible drive?
