Satellite Pro L300 - Keyboard and touchpad issues

Question: Satellite Pro L300 - Keyboard and touchpad issues

I have just baught my GF a refurbed Toshiba laptop for her 21st birthday from a reliable source, its a Satellite Pro L300.

I started it up did all the setup stuff it told me to only to find that the touchpad and keyboard will not work AT ALL.
The keyboard caps lock key doesn't even light up when I press it,
I've downloaded all the latest drivers for EVERYTHING inc. the touchpad, this has made no difference,

I'm running out of ideas fast and coming to terms with the fact that the keyboard and touchpad might be faulty and as a result ill have to give my GF a faulty laptop for hewr 21st, not happy :(

Does any1 have any ideas?

Thanks :)

Edit: OK, very odd, right after i sent this message i tried the keyboard one more time and it works fine?
Could it be something 2 do with the downloading of the VAP package?

The touch pad is still knackered even when i try the fn + f9 combo?

2nd Edit: Ok now the keyboard has stopped working again!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Looks like a keyboard issue?. who knows why it doesn?t work? looks like something would be wrong?
I recommend visiting your dealer and asking for replacement?
Otherwise you could contact the ASP in your country for a fix?

I think this is everything what you could do?

Good luck

After one month of normal usage one of my school's L300's keyboard and touchpad stopped working. It was reported to me and on the advice of our technician I used the cure disc to reinstall everything back to original state. However, this did not solve the problem. Now I need to go through the normal setup screens and am required to enter a user name which I cannot do! This means I cannot check the drivers etc. The keyboard works fine when in BIOS, but not once windows boots up.

Set the BIOS settings to default and try again.
When recovery installation starts can you use keyboard (arrows, ENTER) or mouse in Toshiba recovery menu?

I have same problem as many people are facing with (Toshiba Satellite A300-21H PSAG8E-05J00TEN) . I'm sure touchpad is not disabled.
Windows VISTA clean installation - touchpad & keyboard half of the time are working half of the time not. I'm sure it's not a driver problem (if it's not working device manager says there was problem with device..) . I've already tried 5 different drivers..
I am facing issue from the time i bought it.. I thought there might be problem with OS, today i installed UBANTU but facing same issue (Mouse pad stops working after some time) with this OS tooo.. I am sure that its problem with Hardware not with OS or any driver..

Can please any one tell is there any solution for this...

Answer:Satellite A300 - touchpad & keyboard issues

I have Satellite A300-1LI and it is also PASG8E but I didn?t notice any problems with touchpad or keyboard. At the beginning I used it with original Vista image but about a year now I use WXP and Win7 as dual boot. No problems at all.

If you have noticed this strange problem from the first day why you didn?t contacted Toshiba service and asked for help?
I can imagine there is some hardware problem but I don?t know what do you want to do alone about it. do you want to exchange keyboard or touchpad alone.

Keyboard replacement is not a big deal but touchpad.....

I can't seem to find a way of fixing this or the cause of the problem.

Here it is:

I haven't had the laptop for that long and already thinking it is a terrible thing. When I start my laptop there is like a 70% chance of the keyboard not starting (this is up until it gets to the windows login) then around a 15% chance the touch pad wont start. If the touchpad wont start then I just shut down the whole laptop and start again but there is a chance with the laptop that if I use the on screen keyboard to login then the keyboard will start working again. (around 80% chance) I am getting sick of it.

I probably should have written this in code.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Note: I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling and rollback the drivers, even searching for the most current.

my touchpad stopped functioning properly half a year ago. Additionally it blocks my keyboard as well. If I go to sleep mode then start the notebook again then the keyboard starts functioning but not the touchpad. Then at some days touchpad comes back to life and works for a while perfectly.

Also, the notebook has started to heat up recently, especially around the touchpad's place.

I have my drivers installed so I guess that it should not be a problem. What can be?

Answer:Satellite A300 - Touchpad and keyboard issues

Hi buddy,

Maybe you should update the touchpad driver. You can download driver updates on official Toshiba website:

There you should find a newer version of touchpad driver.

Regarding the keyboard it would be interesting to know if the same happens with an external one. Can you test this please?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A110, bought a couple of months ago. In the last few weeks it has started randomly locking the keyboard and touchpad (with or without external mouse plugged in - though external mouse always works).

Now there are power up issues, with the system hanging at the Toshiba Bios screen, may fully boot up maybe one time in five.
Wireless network acquisition is also very temperamental. I have tried everything software I can think of (new drivers/virus scan/uninstall-reinstall), with the exception of a full Toshiba back-up disk reinstallation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite A110: keyboard, touchpad, power-up issues

I think we should firstly find out if the issue is software or hardware related.
In this case the installation of the OS with the Toshiba recovery CD is recommended.
After the installation the notebook should works without any troubles.

But if the unit will hang and will not boot properly than there could be something wrong with the hardware.
I think your warranty is valid and in such case you should always contact the ASP in your county for a checking.

I'm looking for suggestions or ideas how to deal with the keyboard and touchpad problem, which occured right after I've installed new OS. I changed from Windows Vista to Windows 7, since then both my keyboard and touchpad become inactive after a few minutes from system start. It doesn't matter whether I write anything or not, the device works for a short time and then turns off automatically. I tried to find driver updates but didn't manage to come across anything that could possibly be the solution. It's difficult to work with on-screen keyboard so I hope you'll be able to help me.

Thank you in advance,

Hello everyone!

I've had my laptop for a while but I've never actually had the time to take care of the problems that came with it.

Ever since I've gotten it, all the way in July, my touchpad wouldn't work properly.
As simple as that. It would work for a couple of seconds at startup, then it would just get stuck in scroll mode.

My keyboard sometimes just stops working after a long while of using my laptop.

When my laptop shuts off after I'm away from keyboard, after turning it back on, the screen is black.
Each time I need to close it, let it go into sleep mode, then reopen it in order for the screen to display everything.

I have no idea why, also, but all three of my explorers are very buggy. Chrome, Mozilla and IE.
My videos just randomly stop, reload and rebuffer with much lower quality.
They like to close for no reason too. When I'm browsing a page as simple as Facebook, I get framerate issues, I can't scroll down properly as when I do, I find myself skipping through sections because it's that buggy.

Can someone help? Thanks.

Answer:Satellite L50D-B-131 - multiple issues: touchpad, keyboard, internet

Guess what?
It?s hard to believe that all this issues would be related to one ?general? problem.

For example the described internet explorer issues sounds to me like a slow internet connection. Probably the internet browsers are not able to load all the video data (probably in HD resolution) and therefore the video start to play using lower resolution.

The touchpad supports some additional features which could be configured within the ELAN settings. (control panel -> mouse -> ?ELan? settings in last tab)
If you don?t use all the touchpad features, I would recommend you to disable the options in the Elan configuration menu.

Some issues sound also like the system would be locked for a short time.
Why? I?m not quite sure about that but maybe some application run in the background and lock the system for a while.

I?m wondering if you already tried to recover the notebook back to factory settings.
If not; try it out. Feedback would be appreciated.

Satellite A210 less than 12 months old.

1. Speakers had problem - ASP replaced the motherboard, but now the volume is always very low, even when at 100%. All settings checked and seem to be okay. How to fix??

2. Does not always boot from battery as it is continually flat. Laptop went to ASP who replaced motherboard (again) and put new battery. Now it is always best to run the laptop from the power adaptor as the battery is still losing charge. If unplugged from mains supply battery goes flat over night????

3. Refused to boot up with the power button, talked to ASP who advised to reformat PC - did that but problem still remained

4. Reformatted lots more times and in end sent back to ASP as now the keyboard did not always work either. ASP replaced the motherboard (that is now the third one) but hasn't resolved the problem, and the keyboard. Battery still not holding charge

5. On day that I got A210 back, touchpad didn't work. Talked to ASP who gave me lots of options to try, including turning it off and waiting for 30 minutes, which did nothing. Sent it back to ASP who says there is nothing wrong with it?????

How can I resolve the power on and touchpad issue?
Have given up on the battery and the speakers

Hi, hope someone can help.

Currently running Vista with a Windows 7 upgrade and on start up, the touchpad seems to stick as if you're holding down the left mouse button. To free up the pointer, you need Ctrl-Alt-Del and then go through task manager in order for it to work.
Also the right mouse button doesn't work either.

I have returned to Toshiba who found nothing wrong with the unit, and updated the BIOS as a precaution. The touchpad worked fine for about a week before returning to the old problem.

I thought it may have been a driver issue, possibly even software, but I just don't know. All the mouse drivers are enabled and Fn F9 doesn't improve it at all.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Satellite L300-0FM - Touchpad seems to stick

Hi agent86,

One point would be interesting: Do you notice the same behavior with an external mouse or is it related to internal mouse only?

I never had a problem with the touchpad but maybe reinstalling the touchpad driver could help you. You can download newest touchpad driver on official Toshiba website:

Such parts can be ordered from ASP in your country?.

few days ago I noticed that my touchpad of my L300 does not work any more. I preferably work with USB mouse but need touchpad also. My System (Vista) tells that the touchpad is aktivated and is working. I have already deactivated and activated the touchpad again and I have also actualized the touchpad driver all that without any success.

Can anybody give an advice?

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work on Satellite L300

I rely on the touchpad as I don't use a mouse and in the few days that I have had my L350D I have experienced touchpad problems several times.

~The scroll function will suddenly stop working and, on some occasions the enter key on the keyboard will stop working too. However the left touchpad key continues to work.

Changing pages, starting a second browser window, or just changing to a new application can trigger this.

I can't be exact about remedy, but going into the touchpad control settings and changing them sometimes works as does restarting the laptop. Once having to leave it off for a while was necessary.

I don't feel that this is a problem with the laptop, so much as a problem with Vista, as I have experienced similar problems in the past with a High-Grade laptop, where the touchpad settings would seemigly take it upon themselves to change for no apparent reason.

I've already installed Common Module, Touchpad On/Off utility and i have the latest BIOS installed and reset all settings to default, and i made sure that the touchpad option is enabled in the BIOS, as well as pressing FN+F9 to enable it during Windows.

I have installed the latest Synpatics touchpad driver which i downloaded from the Synaptics homepage. But for some reason it just doesn't work, i don't know what's wrong here. My touchpad worked before i formatted my laptop, it worked fine and never had any problem. I have aan L300 Series Satellite. On booting up, the touchpad works fine until I get the desktop, whereupon the tap function ceases to work. Well after hours of trying allsorts, i'm posting here....

Been handed the laptop for repair as the touchpad has stopped responding. No problem 'i thought', just plug another usb mouse in to help me get around and re-install the touchpad.. what a joke.

Right, the USB mouse is recognised as a hid device and working, according to device manager, but not when you move it.. nothing ...
The Touchpad is listed as a Synaptics ps/2 touchpad and reports a Code 10 in the mouse section of device manager along with the usb mouse listed as a hid and fully functional.

Right.. i have ..
Listed all devices, even those hidden nonpresent (devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices) and removed every single account of any mice, touchpads etc..
uninstalled the synaptics software through the programs control panel.
Rebooted the laptop, and it starts with the touchpad being listed again as a code 10 with windows version drivers.
Updated drivers using two different files from Toshiba for the touchpad, Still Code 10
The USB mouse still does not work either.

Somebody please enlighten me on a fix for this...

Answer:Satellite L300 - Vista - Touchpad and USB mouse not responding.

That?s really strange buddy because normally an update of the touchpad driver should solve the issue.

Anyway, have you already tried to use the Toshiba recovery disk? Maybe it?s just a software issue and some important Windows files are destroyed or don?t work properly. Reinstalling Windows using the Toshiba recovery disk takes only few minutes and there are already all drivers and tools integrated. With these settings (factory settings) the touchpad should work properly and if not the touchpad or mainboard must be replaced maybe.

Hi there,

I just downgraded from VISTA to XP and setting basic dirvers but there are some problems.

After I set up XP sp2, I installed :
1. Chipset driver
2. Display driver
3. Sound driver
4. Lan driver(include wireless)
5. Modem driver(it's software modem driver for toshiba)
until this procedure, it looks fine.
I installed common module, and made a reboot then set up touch-pad driver and touch-pad on/off program.

But touch-pad doesn't work at all.
I also tried to setup toshiba controls but it says "You have to set up common module first" although I did set up the common module.

Internet on wireless, sound, display are OK now.
But I can't use touch-pad, and other function keys.

Can anyone give me a solution for these problem?

Answer:Satellite L300 PSLB0A - Cannot use Touchpad & Fn keys after XP installation

The Common Modules is very important, you should always install this as soon as possible.

Try this:

Remove the Touchpad driver and other hotkey related drivers
Update the BIOS.
Install Common Modules
Install the Touchpad driver and other hotkey related drivers

Touchpad driver does not depend on notebook model.
You can choose the touchpad drivers released for other satellite series as well.
I can recommend the Satellite L500. There you can download Synaptics and Alps touchpad driver. Both are released for Win 7 64bit.

Please note that touchpad scrolling can be changed/enabled in control panel -> mouse -> device settings.

I think it needs to be enabled.

I don?t think this could be a hardware problem.
You should try firstly to update the touchpad driver.

Firstly remove the touchpad driver from the system.
Then visit the Toshiba European driver page and download the newest touchpad driver and install it.

PS: if you are using an external mouse and have installed any mouse tools/drivers then this could also affect the touchpad functionality.

This BIOS downgrade can only be done from an authorized service provider. The technicians can install every version because they have such special tools to make a downgrade.

So was the notebook dropped or not?
I think it is very important to know if the notebook was dropped or not because other hardware parts could be affected.
I mean it could be possible that motherboard or keyboard controller is affected due to the notebook drop.

I don?t think that someone here could be able to help you? if the notebook was dropped, then you should ask an technician for a hardware check? maybe there is a part which is affected and needs to be replaced but hardware needs to be checked to know this?

Suddenly I could not type some keys in my laptop's keyboard.
With the On-Screen Keyboard it is possible to type all the keys.

So I am searching for a new keyboard.

I have found many in and but none has the same part-no: NSK-TAE0L.

I would like to ask if any other keyboard with a different part-no could match to my laptop.
thank you in advance

Answer:Satellite L300-2C4 - keyboard problem

Mostly such part numbers are used internally as an abbreviation and it?s possible that different online dealers would provide the same keyboard using different part number.
Anyway, I guess you should be able to get such internal keyboard search for ?Satellite L300 / L305 keyboard?

You have also a possibility to contact an authorized service provider in your county to order such part.

I'm trying to fit a replacement keyboard to my Satellite L300 laptop and failing!

I've watched lots of online tutorials and read lots of online articles but I can't work out how to fit the ribbon cable correctly. Does anyone have any tips?

Answer:Satellite L300 - keyboard replacement

Is your problem how to connect or disconnect keyboard cable only?

I mean it is so simply. On the connector itself you can see two plastic holders on the left and the rght side. You must move it upwards and keyboard cable will be disconnected.

When you want to connect keyboard cable just put the cable into the connector and move both piece of plastic (holders) down.

In my opinion you need to replace the internal keyboard.

The "TAB" key should be located above the "CAPS LOCK" key, on the left of the "Q" key. It looks like two arrows going opposite directions.

My XP Pro L300 is a few months old.

It had to go in for warranty repair as the motherboard was broken.
It had a new motherboard but since then I cant get the
*"Fn" key + "F11" key* to activate the numberpad overlay.
Most of the other FN key combo's do whats expected but not
*"Fn + F10"* or *"Fn + F11"* and to be honest I need to
get the keypad overlay working.

Could this be a setting problem or actually a problem linked to the
new motherboard?

Should I call tech support?

Thanks for any help.

Anyone any ideas as to what to do - as my experience with the depot who do the repairs last time has put me off

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

I'm hoping someone may be able to give me some advice regarding some issues I'm having with my girlfriends l300.

I installed Windows 7 a number of months ago and it has been working perfectly up until last week. Suddenly instead of booting normally it would go to a screen offering startup repair or start windows normally. When i choose to start windows normally it goes through the motions of the windows logo before just stopping and rebooting by itself. When i went through the startup repair option it would rumbe on for an hour or two but then would say that it could not fix any errors.

Finally last saturday I took the hd out and cleared it. Fresh install of windows 7. Seemed to be working fine for afew minutes. Then it froze and I couldnt do anything except a hard shut down. I turned it back on again and it was fine for 10-15 mins but froze again. This repeated for an hour or so and then I got an error

Answer:Strange issues on Satellite L300-1AQ

Sounds like either the HDD is simply faulty, or the data on the HDD has been corrupted.

Test the HDD using HDD Testing Software such as Seatools or DFT (Bootable CD).

If there are no errors reported, then Windows may just be corrupted.

Test the RAM for errors as well by using Memtest.

I?ve had a Toshiba Satellite L300 for a couple of months.
I only yesterday done a Toshiba disc recovery on to 2 discs will that be ok?

Another thing is when do I download drivers? Is it just when Tempro tells me or is there something else I do?
I'm really not clued up on this at all.
So any advice on my Toshiba satellite l300 would be really appreciated.
Is there any other things I'm missing?? As i read things and think why I should not have that if they need it.

So as you can see I'm a complete novice and would be really grateful if any of you good please there would/could help me... Thanking you..

Answer:Satellite L300 - need help with couple of issues

> I only yesterday done a Toshiba disc recovery on to 2 discs will that be ok?
Why should it not ok?
I think you have created the recovery disks by using the Toshiba recovery disk creator and this was a good idea because you will need the disks to reinstall Windows again if you can?t use the HDD recovery function.
You can find more informations in the user manual.

> Another thing is when do I download drivers? Is it just when Tempro tells me or is there something else I do?
In your case I would only update the drivers if it?s necessary or let?s say you have a problem with some applications.
I do the same. I only update the drivers on my Satellite L300 if I have a problem with the notebook and otherwise I can say never touch a running system. ;)

Hi - having some problems with my daughters Satellite L300-1BV and after some answers and advice please.

She let the battery drain completely and we're now having problems when booting.

We have left the laptop plugged into the mains charging for over 24 hours - when doing this DC light is green and battery light orange. Eventually the orange light goes off.

When it is then turned on, whilst still plugged into the main, it boots just fine but after about no more than 10 minutes it just dies - like a complete power off.

It will then not turn back on at all - even plugged into mains. we remove the battery, put it back in , and then it will turn back on when plugged into mains but lucky if we get 1 minute before it just dies again.
If we remove the battery completely and plug into the mains it won't turn on.
Then with battery back in, leave for another 24 hours and we go back to the original 10 minutes before it dies again.

So two questions please

1. Does this sound like the battery needs replacing
2. On this machine it would seem that you cannot use it plugged into the mains but without the battery inplace - is this correct ? I know a lot of laptops will operate quite happily like this..

thanks .. Derek

Answer:Satellite L300 battery issues

Hey mate,

That?s really strange and I doubt this problem is related to battery only. In this case your computer would working properly without battery and plugged in AC/DC adaptor.

Theoretically the notebook could turn off by itself due a higher internal temperature. Therefore I would recommend cleaning it using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.

Furthermore ask an authorized service provider for help. It sounds like a hardware malfunction and they can check what part must be replaced.

Hi guys --

Okay. My Toshiba Satellite L300-1bv, loaded with a copy of WXP SP3, started having glitches and slowing issues that grew progressively worse until it would freeze entirely after a random span of time. Trying to start it up now returns a missing hal.dll error.

I?m almost certain given the characteristics of this whole thing that the hard drive is failing, especially because it began to thrash constantly for no reason a few months into owning it. On the other hand, it could be a memory error going by some Google diagnostics.

I?ve managed to install a copy of WXP SP1 onto a new partition (leaving the broken one intact) but I have no idea how long it'll keep running given a possible hardware failure so I don't want to commit.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Answer:Satellite L300-1BV and fatal issues with WXP

What help have you expected exactly?

As you said the issue might be related to a hardware (RAM, HDD problem) or to software problem (missing hal.dll, corrupt operating system)

If new OS installation (with all patches, service packs) didn?t help, then an hardware issue is possible? in such case the faulty parts should be replaced?
Nobody can say what part could be corrupt? it?s is necessary to test it? this means that RAM or HDD should be replaced and then you could test how it works?

PS: there is a nice HDD diagnostic tool called HDD Fitness Test? it?s for free? google simply?

What originally was a random freeze up while wi-fi has now turned deadly. Its rendered my month old l300 (PSLB0C-07N08C) completly usless. At first it would stop doing anything, you could move the mouse all day long but you couldnt click on anything and nothing would load.
This would happen randomly while wifi and maybe after 3 or 4 hours of browsing. Now its doing it on every startup. I can start task manager and thats about it. Within 1 minute of logging into vista it again freezes. You cannot load anyother programs.

So far ive tested the memory and its fine, i was able to load resource moniter and hdd is 100% the whole time. Its really a crippled system. The backround processes are still running, but nothing is responding. I cant even boot safe mode, it gets hung up at crcdisk.......Anyone else have this issue?

Answer:Major Satellite L300 Issues

Sounds like Windows may be corrupted, or a bad software/driver is hanging the system.

I would try a fresh install of Windows. Backup your data and run Recovery.

Hi Patrick,

To be honest your posting is very hard to understand and I don?t know what you mean exactly.

According your posting it seems that you need some driver and you can get all drivers here: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Regarding the FN keys you need Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Everything can be downloaded from official Toshiba page.

First off I?d like to say hi to u all as I?m new to the site, hi lol.. I bought a Toshiba Satellite L300 yesterday which wasn?t working! I bought it from a friend and it was running Vista when it was working, and Vista I don?t like 1 bit..

I decided to install windows XP and the bl++dy thing wouldn?t let me install it to start with but after lots of searching online I found out that a BIOS setting needed changing, What you have to do is power on the Laptop and then press F2 to get into the BIOS menu. Then scroll down to the SATA option and change it from "ACHI" to "Compatibility" then exit saving your changes (F10) and then reboot your Laptop from the XP Operating System disk. (Thought id add this incise anybody else is having this prob, hope it helps)

**ANY WAY enough of the rambling and back to the problem I?m having now lol.. I?m on the laptop now and its running very well apart from every now and again it freezes for 10 seconds or so, not a big issue but it?s a little annoying!!! If anybody has any ideas plz help.. I will also add I had a few problems trying to find all the drivers after installing xp and I?m missing 2 which are SM BUS DRIVER and MODEM DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS (could this be causing my problem?)

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

Answer:Satellite L300 Vista to XP, couple of issues

In my opinion biggest mistake you?ve made is to install WXP on this notebook model.
Few months ago I have installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it runs perfectly. System runs very stabile, pretty fast and all hardware components are recognized and work well.

So my advice for you is to get rid of old WXP and install Win7.

Next problem is this ?compatibility? mode. It is definitely not solution. It is just a way to install WXP but without installed SATA driver the HDD will never work with ?full power? but just with limited performance so your WXP installation is definitely not the best way to use WXP.

The same is when cars engine works on three cylinders only. Do you get it?

So, before we continue discussion I want to read your opinion about all this. do you want to use WXP anyway?

Hello all,

After a Windows 7 Ultimate new install on my L300 PSLB0E, I have lost use of the keyboard and mousepad.

I performed the install with a usb mouse, which also functions now. I downloaded all drivers related to my machine using the virtual keyboard, rebooted after every drivre install, still not working.
I have also upgraded the BIOS, from 1.3 to 1.5, still not working

The strange part is that at startup I can acces BIOS using F2, or the startup sequence using F12, navigate the BIOS, so the keyboard works, but does not anymore when Windows 7 has booted.

I tried putting all settings to default in the BIOS, no change.

HELP!?! >.< Going crazy over this!!!

Answer:Satellite L300 - No keyboard and mouse response after Windows 7 upgrade

Have you installed additional drivers or tools for these external input devices? If yes you should remove it, just check the software list in control panel.

Normally the touchpad can be enabled/disabled with FN+F9 key combination.

Furthermore it would be interesting to know what happens on ?factory settings?. I mean the preinstalled OS from Toshiba.

I have installed the tool from MS MSKLC 1.4. on Toshiba Satellite L300, and Vista32. This tool is for generating an own Keyboard Layout.

I wanted to implement Gujarati Signs for a friend. For this, we put signs/letters on three "levels" in this keyboard layout:

1. Standart like "a,b"
2. Shift like "A,B"
3. Altgr + key

The first two levels with letters are running fine, but the last one not.

We tested it in Open Office 3.1 and MS Works Words. Both programms do not accept Altgr + letter-key.
Open Office has no special functions for altgr+keys.

In an editor, which comes along with MSKLC 1.4., also the 3rd level works fine. NO problems here!

How can this happend? What do I have to do?

MSKLC 1.4. is available:

Answer:Satellite L300 - Keyboard layout creator MSKLC1.4 doesn't work properly

What do I do, to enable all 3 states to work on the UK-Toshiba and on all editors?

The Toshiba Laptop Satellite L300, inclusive of Vista32 Home Premium were bought in the UK!

The MS MSKLC 1.4. Keyboard Layout Creator was installed to create a Gujarati (Indic) Keyboard.
This was downloaded from the official MS pages. (US?)

I implemented the Gujarati Letters on three "shift states" of the keyboard layout.

altgr (alt+ctrl)

The first two states work well on the UK-Toshiba laptop.

The 3rd state (alt+ctrl) does not display Gujarati Letters, - it displays Latin Letters instead.

An external keyboard behaved in the same way, as described above.

On a German-Toshiba A50 laptop with XP,

ALL THREE states display Gujarati letters.

An external keyboard ALSO displays Gujarati letters in ALL THREE states.

On the UK-Toshiba, the inbuilt MSKLC Editor displays Gujarati letters in ALL THREE states.

On other editors, the first two states work, the third (alt+ctrl) does not work.

Please, what do I do, to enable all 3 states to work on the UK-Toshiba and on all editors?

With kind regards,

I recently purchased an Ideapad Y550 and have been very happy with it, except for one issue, the touchpad freezes for 1-2 seconds every time I touch the keyboard.  I generally like to use the up and down arrows to scroll through websites so this is a large inconvenience. The first thing I did was plug in a mouse and noticed that the issue was not present.  I figured this must mean that it is a software issue.  My next step was to uninstall the Synaptic touchpad driver.  After performing that task the computer has to reboot.  On the initial reboot, the problem seemed to be solved.  However, immediately after rebooting, I received a Windows message stating that I would need to restart the computer again for my changes to take effect.  Since my problem appeared to be resolved I opted not to restart at that time. The problem is that when I did restart my computer, the issue resumed.  It looks like the Synaptic driver re-installed itself.  Is anyone else running into this problem?  If so, have you found a long term solution?   I would prefer not to have to uninstall the driver and restart my computer every time I need to turn it off.

I have a Toshiba A100 PSAA8C-0FH00E laptop running XP SP2 and I can't seem to be able to fix it. A while ago my touchpad and keyboard stopped working, my system recognizes that the touchpad is there and it detects it every time I restart, but my attempts at reinstalling the driver have been cut short halfway through the installation where I am told that the installation can't continue because access is denied (i am system administrator & logged on as so).
I purchased BitDefender total security shortly after this occurred (was running AVG free before). I have also ran Avast, Malwarebytes, registry mechanic, regcure, and Hijack This since my purchase of BitDefender...they have picked up small things here and there but none have encountered and viruses/malware that were the culprit.
Anyone have a solution for me?

Answer:Touchpad & Keyboard Issues

Using Registry Mechanic and RegCure is going to cause you grief.

Stay completely away from registry cleaners. They're too aggressive and will detect valid registry entries as invalid. The end result from "fixing" them is some programs that no longer work and a damaged operating system.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5523 running Windows 8. Since about 5 hours ago I have had three primary issues:

The button "1" doesn't work but will open a new window in Chrome every time I press it.

The button "q" doesn't work but will turn down the volume for me. I have another key that already does that for me but it's a nice effort since I usually don't press that key too often.

My touchpad won't recognize swipes or gestures. Not all but useless but getting there. I can move the cursor. That's it. Everything else I've tried is a no-go.

As far as I can tell everything else is fine. I tried Keytweak to remap the keys but they were already properly set. I just ran Malwarebytes and it didn't pull up anything either. I have absolutely no idea what to do.

Hello dear Support Forum, I got me a new HP Pavilion dm1 about half a year ago and now I encountered my first major issue. At some random times, but mostly when the Netbook is powered on for a longer time, my Keyboard and touchpad suddenly stop to work.Everything else is just fine, programms or copying stuff still work, but I can't input a thing. the mouse just freezes and even the taskmanager won't work anymore. the only button still working is the power button. When I press it shortly it even goes into sleep mode and after awaking it again everything works fine again, but not for long...The more programms I open up or the longer it is powered on, the faster the lock appears. Could it possibly be a heat problem? Oh, and I got an OT question on top of it: It is a dual boot netbook with Windows 7 Home and HP Quick Web preinstalled. Hey guys (and gals) My issue is pretty straightforward but seems like it just wont go away.

About two days ago I was at a friend of mines and I restarted my computer and all of a sudden the keyboard and touch pad were not working.

The keyboard works in the bios and at the POST. Once any windows components load it stops working, the weird part is that after about 30 minutes to an hour, it works. I'm sure most of you will agree this is not practical at all. I travel a bit so a USB keyboard is out of the question.

It does not work in safemode
I've tried System Restore, System Refresh and Restore to factory defaults.
None have worked.
I've scanned for Malware, rootkits etc... nothing.
Updating drivers for the keyboard and uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing.

The touch pad seems to not work at all. No matter how much time has passed.
The computer is a Dell Inspiron 15 3520 w. Windows 8 64-bit

Let me know if you guys need any more info.

How "exactly" did you restore it factory defaults? The reason I ask is because of how Windows 8 "recovers" itself doesn't necessarily affect any system files that maybe lost (causing loss of keyboard and touchpad function).

Lenovo Ideapad Z580 for about 2 weeks ago and whilst I really like it there are a few problems with it. Certain keys on the keyboard only work intermittently, namely the 'a' the 'o' and the 'e' and occasionally other keys too. This makes typing a real problem as I have to continually keep going back to correct things. I'm a proficient typist and haven't experienced this type of problem before on any other machine. Also the touchpad is so sensitive it keeps activating icons when it passes over them without any need to click. It jumps the pointer to another part of the document and sets off on it's own journey without any input from me! It also keeps swiping in the charms bar then the Start window when I'm in the middle of working ? REALLY annoying! Any ideas please? I don't want to have to take it back as 'not fit for purpose' if it's just a simple thing to correct. Thanks

hi hamchris,
Welcome to the Forums.
Regarding the issues that you're experiencing:
1. Try to boot in Safe Mode and observe if the keys on the keyboard only work intermittently
    - if it is, there's most likely a problem with the keyboard and you need to send it for service).
    - if all of the keys work ok, perform a clean boot and observe it in normal mode
2. The touch sensitivity is probably activating the double tapping feature, try to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad by navigating to Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse
For Synaptics Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
For ELAN Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
3. The Edge Swipe gesture is most likely trigerring the charms bar, check this thread on how to turn off the touchpad gestures.
Hope this helps

I search for a new one in Ebay. The cheapest offer 24$+6$!

I see in the Windows system the keyboard and touchpad with a !
I don?t know what the problem is but it is not a Windows prob.
it doesn?t work either in Bios.

Thank you for Help

Answer:Satellite A80-154 - Keyboard and Touchpad don't work

It looks like a hardware problem.
If the warranty is valid you could contact the ASP in your country for a hardware check.

If the warranty is not valid you could firstly check if the keyboard cable was connected to the motherboard properly.
If it?s connected properly then a keyboard malfunction is possible and it would be advisable to check if a replacement would help to solve this issue.

The compatible parts can be ordered also from the ASP in your country.

I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere. I have Satellite a105-s2194. The keyboard and touch pad stopped working after I edited my registry to fix my dvd burner. I've tried a usb mouse. It shows up but also doesn't work.I can't do a system restore without a working mouse or keyboard so I'm kind of stuck.
I checked the BIOS and everything is as it should be. Keyboard works in BIOS and system utilities menus.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank!

Answer:Satellite keyboard/touchpad unresponsive

BIOS provides USB support before Windows starts which is why it works in BIOS but not Windows.

I suggest the best place to start is recovering your files/folders. You can probably just skip to Step 2 for your case See How to recover your folders/files when Windows won?t boot

Then you can comfortably try fixing your computer (which might need a full reformat/reinstall)

I'm having many issues with my E6530.  It seems to have a mind of its own.  Sometimes, the keyboard stops working and then other times it starts typing random letters.  The cursor will also click around randomly and windows will open. There's not rhyme or reason.  I've updated the BIOS and drivers, but the issues still occur and it seems to be more frequent now.  I scanned the laptop for viruses and malware and it came out clean.  I'm not sure if reinstalling Windows will fix these issues or if it's hardware based.  Could the motherboard need replacing?  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

I am having real issues with my Lenovo Z580 laptop touchpad. The touchpad functions normally, but freezes unexpectedly. I have to click ALT + Tab and change the window for it to work again. I have removed and re-installed the drivers and this has had no impact.  It is really frustrating as it is becoming more and more regular and also the keyboard seems to be having minor issues too. If anyone can help it would be most appreciated Thanks, Will

Answer:Ideapad Z580 - touchpad / keyboard issues

hi Will,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Just to check
Curious, if you don't re-install the Touchpad driver from the lenovo website and let Windows use a generic driver, are you still getting freezing issues while using the Touchpad?
If you have the Synaptics touchpad and it works fine with the generic driver then the problem is likey with the driver. Try to install this driver directly from the Synaptics website:
Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19
118.1 MB zip
If the freezing issue still occur even with a generic touchpad driver then it's likely that the Touchpad is showing signs of imminent failure. In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings.
As for the keyboard, are some of the keys not working?
 - If some of the keyboard keys are intermittently working then this is likely a keyboard failure and I recommend you report this also when you contact lenovo.

I have major issues with my Lenovo laptop.  I have had touchpad issues since day one (Nov 2012) and now have major issues with my keyboard. From the beggining, my touchpad would either be overly sensitive or non-responsive at all.  (I hate how the cursor defaults to a particular part of say a Word text if you leave your typing inactive more a number of minutes.)  The touchpad is also overly sensitive!  When my left hand simply hovers over the letter keys while my right hand is positioned over the touchpad, it somehow creates some shortcut command and changes up the screen, particularly the zoom function when I glide the mouse horizontally. HOW DO I MAKE THIS STOP?
I also have issues with starting Windows.  A black screen turns up and when I run the Task Manager, Lenovo TouchZone comes up and I have to end the program.  How do I fix this permanently?
Then just last night, the touchpad had again been irresponsive, as it does all the time sometimes, and so I turn it off an on (maybe that makes it worst), and then I started having issues with my keyboard!  It doesn't type all letters just some. Sorry I can't explain.too well..but I'm semi frantic with a few writing deadlines coming up! Consider i'm on a lil island with little access to serious tech help. When i try to use Word some floating keys appear over the tool bar...its all just so weird! Please help!

Answer:Issues with p580 laptop - touchpad and keyboard

Anna,I dont know what might be causing it but your latest issue, the floating, letters is what would show if you had pressed the "alt" key, as these are the keyboard shortcut identifiers. Assuming you havent pushed the alt key yourself this indicates that windows has been incorrectly told it has been pushed by the bit of oftware that detects the keyboard key presses. I am not a lenovo or windows expert, but I imagine that this indicates fairly serious problems with, at the very least the device drivers that control the input devices (i.e keyboard touch-screen etc) I would recommend returning it to the place of purchase immediatly (dont wait at all if you can). Other than this I could maybe suggest that a small part of the issue *may* be caused by having the sticky keys feature turned on. If this is the case sticky keys can be truned off by pressing both the left and right shift keys at the same time. Good luck

Hello! So I've gotten an issue that occoured today, which have made my laptop more or less useless. So yesterday during school it worked wonders, and today when I got to school and booted the laptop on. The Touchpad WOULD not work. It would not move out of the spot, but the keyboard have also just done the same. When I try and press a button on the keyboard nothing happens. I currently only have 4 buttons that work on it. Which are F9(Turn display on/off) F11/F12(display light up and down) and Fn key. This effectively means I am locked out of my laptop without having a mouse and a  keyboard with me. Which I simply cant have to school. I've tried googling around, but no one seemed to have this issue!

I purchased an INSPIRON 15 3521 K 92 Model (4GB RAM/500GB/Win 8/2GB Graphic Card) two weeks back. Till date it worked fine. However, for last two days its touchpad and the touchpad keys have stopped working completely. Moreover, at times I had to restart the laptop as the keyboard stopped working suddenly. I did reinstall the touchpad driver from; however, still the problems persist. The name of the touchpad is also missing from the Device Manager listings. I am not sure what the problem is. May I get any help in this regard? I sincerely appreciate your support.

Answer:Touchpad and Keyboard issues - Inspiron 15 3521 K 92

Hi Omkar,
Please remove the service tag from public view for security reasons.
Inspiron 3521 is shipped with synaptics touchpad. You may press <Fn> + <F3> on keyboard to enable or disable the touchpad.
As you already have tried updating the driver, I would suggest you to uninstall the touchpad driver from Control Panel -> Uninstall a program and restart the computer.
Upon restart, you may try updating the touchpad drivers from Here. Follow the onscreen instructions and restart the computer when prompted.
If the issue persists, please share a screenshot of device manager with Mice and other Pointing Devices category expanded.
Also for the keyboard issue, I would suggest you to try reseating the keyboard (if comfortable) and see if it helps. You may refer to Owner's Manual Here for step by step instructions for reseating keyboard.
Note : Please follow the safety instructions in Owner's Manual before replacing/installing parts.
Please reply if you have any further questions.

Recently my touchpad has started malfunctioning. If I move my finger on it constantly during boot up it works fine in windows, however inactivity for around a second causes it to freeze. If I close then restart apoint.exe, it works as long as there is constant activity on the pad.

First I uninstalled original drivers then installed the most up to date versions. This did not solve the problem. Then, rather excessivly I formatted the hdd, reinstalled windows and drivers, this did not solve the problem.

I would say it was clearly a hardware fault but it works perfectly as long as there is constant activity and when it does freeze, restarting apoint.exe sorts it out until the next lapse of inactivity!

Please help

Answer:Touchpad issues on Satellite P10-304

I think this could be only a hardware malfunction.
After fresh installation of OS and the Tosh drivers the touchpad should be enabled without any touching.

But what about the function FN+F9?
Does the touchpad work if you enable or disable the FN+F9?
Please check it

Hi All,

I recently sent my Satellite A30 back for repair because the touchpad died. Since I have had it 'repaired', it behaves erratically. Sometimes I lost all horizontal motion, with only the vertical direction working. Sometimes during a windows session, I lose complete touchpad functionality (including the left/right button).

I have also noticed that a fresh windows session allows me to use the scroll function (side of the touchpad) and also the back/forward facility in web browsers. However, after a little while, windows stopss recognising the scroll and b/f gestures (even though the touchpad icon in my tray highlights the fact I am using them).

I have upgraded my ALPS drivers to the latest version but this didn't fix it.

I am guessing that this is a software issue and not a hardware fault as a reboot fixes these problems temporarily. I'm not sure if there is a hardware problem which then confuses the software. I have no idea.

If anyone has any thoughts or has experienced this before, please let me know as this is most annoying.

Answer:Touchpad Issues on Satellite A30

It?s not easy to say why this touchpad issue occurs.
Sometimes very strange issues occur because of overheating. I have noticed that if the temperature goes to the critical level the OS shuts down, the notebook hangs or many strange issues occurs like touchpad malfunction. In your case I recommend checking the cooling modules and try to use the vacuum cleaner for the cleaning. Maybe it helps.

The second possibility is that the touchpad has a malfunction. You know, it was replaced in the past and it?s possible that there is something wrong with the hardware.
You can contact the Toshiba service partner and explain him the situation after touchpad replacing.

Good luck

I purchased a brand new Satellite C50 yesterday. Everything is working fine, apart from the TouchPad won't allow me to scroll. Both the two finger scroll and the one finger at the side fail to work. I have tried to update drivers etc but apparently they are up to date. I don't know what else to do. It's really annoying.

Thanks in advance!!

I have a lots of problems with my Satellite A300D-11S (for Adriatic region).

I have Windows 7 Ultimate with installed all drivers from Toshiba site. Everything works perfectly .... but..

When I first time power-on notebook, graphic driver cannot initialize, keyboard doesn't work, and touchpad is froozen. In this situation I can use external USB mouse and keyboard, Internet (WLAN,LAN), Sound. When I reebot the system, Windows 7 loads and works perfectly and I can work 3-4 hours. After turning off notebook and power-on after 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 6 hours, problem is still present again :(

Then I reinstalled all system from zero, use newest drivers update and problems is still present. I tried this 3 times, but I havent got idea what to do. Sometimes when I close lid of my notebook, and later when resuming from stand-by touchpad and keyboard are frozen.

Notebook have warranty but last time, service replaced mainboard and Cpu. Maybe notebook is defective?

Thnx, and sorry about gramatic errors

Answer:Satellite A300D-11S - Keyboard and touchpad freezes

> graphic driver cannot initialize, keyboard doesn't work, and touchpad is froozen. In this situation I can use external USB mouse and keyboard, Internet (WLAN,LAN), Sound.
For me it sounds like that just the internal input devices (keyboard and touchpad) don?t work anymore and they should be replaced.
What do you think about this?

You can contact your authorized service provider. They can exchange both parts for you.
Check this!!!

Regarding your display driver issue you should update the driver and install latest BIOS version.

I have problem with keyboard and touchpad. Laptop is Satellite A300-1G5

I have Vista home premium and when I power computer on, I must put password in user box then my keyboard and touchpad don't work.

In Bios my keyboard working but when Vista starts it does not.

How I solve this problem?

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: Keyboard and touchpad do not work

First of all please check the device status in the device manager.
Please check if the keyboard and touchpad are listed correctly without any yellow exclamation marks.

But you should try to reinstall the drivers again even though the keyboard and the touchpad were recognized properly.
In this case I would recommend removing the keyboard and the touchpad from the device manager and then you should reboot the notebook once again.

After Vista has rebooted the both devices should be recognized again and should work.

Please check this!

I have a Satellite A660-133, when I use the keyboard or the touchpad I can hear many vibrations from the case of the laptop. I think it is not normal but actually the same model showed in shop does the same. What do you think about it?

Anyway, if you think it?s not normal you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can check this problem and maybe you need a new keyboard but this can be exchanged under warranty.

You can find a list of ASPs here: > Support & Downloads > Find an authorized service provider

In an attempt to get the FN key working again, I installed the latest 'Flash Cards Support Utility', which has made the problem considerably worse. No keys on the keyboard work (there is still power going to it, as the number lock light is lit) and the touchpad doesn't respond either, along with its buttons.

I'm guessing it was something to do with what i just installed but i don't really know where to start. I have a usb mouse and a spare keyboard so am able to use the laptop but would be very grateful for any help fixing it.

Answer:Satellite C660 - Keyboard and Touchpad failing

Before we start the discussion one question: do you have problem with FN keys only or you cannot use whole keyboard?
What is with touchpad? Is touchpad maybe disabled? Have you installed Synaptics touchpad driver?
It is really not easy to say what is going on there but maybe you should install recovery image and test functionality with ?factory settings?. I mean with clean OS installation everything should be OK. If not there must be some hardware problem.

I have tried almost all of the suggestions with no joy. please help.

Answer:Keyboard and Touchpad wont work on Satellite L

There are no many options which could solve this problem.
It can be a hardware problem or software related issue.

Can you use the internal keyboard within the BIOS?
Check this.
If this would not be possible, I assume the hardware is faulty.

Additionally I recommend testing the keyboard and touchpad using the factory settings.
Recover the notebook and check if the keyboard would functions?. Otherwise you will need an helps from an notebook technician in order to replace the keyboard and touchpad

I own a sattelite C870-13E computer since august.

Yesterday for no apparent reason, my touchpad stopped working. (no, I didn't turn it off)
Not really bothered by it, i kept working on my computer for several hours.
It then occurred to me it might be a little bug, so I decided to restart my computer.

When it turned back on, not only my touchpad didn't work, now nothing on my keyboard responded, not a single key. I updated drivers, bios, ran a virus scan, rolled back my computer to a few days earlier, nothing helped.

The strange thing is that the keyboard still responds when i hold the 0, F1 or F8 keys, as well as enter and arrow keys to get in the menus before windows starts up.

Using those, i used the toshiba recovery to set the computer back to factory settings.
Despite all that, keyboard and touchpad are still out.
I really don't understand, since it works during startup it can't be actual materialistic damage!

Now i'm getting frustrated cause i have no more solutions and typing with on-screen keyboard is really slow! =p

Any help?

Answer:Keyboard and touchpad don't work on Satellite C870-13E

I think it?s a hardware malfunction because you already tried the system recovery and the keyboard does not work even if using factory settings.

But it would be interesting to know if the USB external keyboard would functions. Can you test this? In my opinion if the external keyboard would works properly, then this would mean that your internal keyboard is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I?m wondering if the touchpad fault is related to the internal keyboard malfunction.

However, I think the warranty should be still valid if you purchased this unit in August. So get in contact with service and the guys should fix it free of charge!

Hey peeps, how are we all?

I have a funny problem here. the touchpad and keyboard do not work in windows or the BIOS, if I reboot the computer the same happens whether its just on battery or through the mains.

If I take the battery out then replace it and reboot the keyboard and mouse will work absolutely fine until I reboot it next (unless i remove the battery again).

Is there something that gets reset that would stop the touchpad and keyboard working?

Thanks alot,

Answer:Satellite Pro L40 Keyboard + Touchpad inop after reboot

That?s a strange issue.
Did you try to update the BIOS? Check if you use the latest version and update it if a newer version is available.

Generally it?s not easy to say what could cause this issue?
To be honest I never heard about a similar issue?

So check if an BIOS update will help to sort this out? if not I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country for a solution!

Sorry mate but I don?t understand how you have updated the keyboard driver?
The keyboard driver is a part of the Windows OS so it cannot be updated manually?

Check if you can boot in safe mode.
Press F8 and then choose safe mode. Then you can try to reverse the OS back to the early time point before the OS has been muddled up.

The laptop is just over 1 year old and has been working ok until recently.

First symptoms were keyboard and touchpad not working at windows 8 login page. Pressing power to put laptop in sleep and pressing again often got them working.

This progressed to the keyboard and touchpad not working at random points whilst using the laptop.

Finally blanked the HDD and restored windows 8 alone, the laptop still BSOD's fairly frequently - refuses to install updates required for 8.1 and the keyboard and mouse often do not work even in the BIOS setup page. I have reseated the RAM and HDD.

Running out of ideas, the keyboard and touchpad do work and so I would assume that their connections are OK - but frequently they just stop.

Any ideas appreciated?

Satellite C660-28H

Win7 64bit

antivirus Kaskpersky deleted "system32/driver/cekbfilter.sys" file for keylogger reason (Kaspersky Support said It is mistake of Kaspersky antivirus, file is not virus or virused), and after I restart OS I find keyboard and touchpad not working at all.

Also I already asked about this at [US Toshiba Forum|] and there was advise to ask here too

I can not use Windows recovery (do not have recovery point) , and I do not want to do full recovery to factory default - there are many soft and personal data stored.

So Is here way to recover drivers? As I already said at US Toshiba Forum - I already tryed delete touch pad driver and instal from Synaptic official website, and I not changed anything.

Also I think antivirus may delete not only file, but do some fixes to remove "wrone" driver

Answer:Re: Satellite C660 - keyboard and touchpad are not working

Huh it is very stupid situation now. I never had such problems but it will be interesting to find solution to this.

Have you tried to connect external mouse, just to see if this can work? I mean it is much easier to use windows with mouse and choose different options.

If this works try to open device manager and properties for keyboard. There you can find option for driver update. Check if some driver update can be found. Fact is that keyboard uses standard Microsoft driver so f you are online maybe some driver can be found.

Of course best and easiest solution for you is recovery installation. If you don?t want to do this try to find right drivers using such driver update option.

One more thing: if you have so important stuff saved on HDD you can remove it from your notebook and connect it to other PC/notebook as external device and make backup. After doing this you can install recovery image and problem is solved.

I have a Toshiba A300 and I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bits

Answer:Satellite A300 - touchpad and keyboard problem

According to your message you have to reboot the notebook in order to get the keyboard and touchpad working properly.
Possibly there is something wrong with the drivers for keyboard and touchpad?
As a first idea I would recommend to refresh the OS.
This means that you should check if a new OS installation could solve this problem.

Keyboard driver is a part of the windows OS so I think this should be checked.

Yes, I get similar issues.
