Preferred Solution: Why Satellite Pro L100-124 is not listed on Toshiba website?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Why Satellite Pro L100-124 is not listed on Toshiba website?

Maybe you know it or not but Toshiba delivers many notebooks from the same series but the notebook are not very different. The sub models are possibly different in the hardware configuration. You know; different HDD sizes, CPU speed, etc?

I have googeld a little bit for this numer and I found the notebook on a Toshiba Poland site. It?s a polish language: &tab=3

However, you can check the Toshiba Europe site and you will find the different notebook and also the Satellite Pro L100 series:

I have a Toshiba Satellite L100-121, and Toshiba TEMPRO installed.

The icon in the system tray usually turns red or orange or grey, indicating that i have alerts, but when i click show alerts and click current alerts, it's nothing there!

And sometimes it start with windows, sometimes not.
Thanks !

Answer:Satellite L100-121 - Toshiba TEMPRO alerts me for nothing

Toshiba Tempro tool sends always a notification if an new software / driver has been uploaded to the Toshiba European driver page.

This is only a notification and it doesn?t mean that you have to update anything!

So if your notebook is running trouble free then you don?t need to update anything!
If you want you can disable this software also in msconfig -> startup.

I did it because I don?t need any notifications?

I'm wondering if anyone here knows where I can find drivers for

Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAAKC

The Websites I have found online have many models but not this one specifically.
I have re-installed to Windows XP and am having issues that will be resolved if I can download the drivers.

Answer:Drivers for Toshiba notebook are not listed on website

Obviously you have a Canadian notebook model. Please check Toshiba Canada support page under

There you can find drivers you need.

My Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q880 is not listed as one of Toshba's products. I've tried entering the Part number: PQX33U-01J00H and the serial number: 3A087672W, but nothing works. I bought the computer from Amazon.

Why doesn't Toshiba recognize it?

Answer:Qosmio X505-Q880 - Not listed on the Toshiba website

On which Toshiba page you are searching? I assume you mean drivers and other downloads that you want?

Therefore check the Toshiba US page where your notebook is listed: > Download > Laptops > Qosmio > X505-Q880

Hello All,
So this laptop was purchased on 2nd Jan 2016 in Dubai at Sharaf DG.

Here are the specs:
Intel Processor Core i5-6200U 2.3GHz to Turbo Boost 2.8GHz (6th Gen) / RAM 4GB / HDD 1TB / DVD RW / 15.6" LED / Intel HD Graphics / Windows 10(x64).

Now when i went to register this laptop on the website, or even the global website for Toshiba, i couldnt find this particular Satellite C55-C model anywhere.
Its only when i verified the serial number at the back of the laptop that i found out that somehow Toshiva has given it its own 'model number' and it is PSKWWV-00V00KAR.

The only place on the entire internet where this model shows up is here:

Why is this??! This was not the only laptop being purchased, what about all the other customers? When they try to do a product registration, what are they supposed to select?
And the drivers updates, its only after seeing this model name that toshiba has internally given it, was i able to find the updated audio driver.
Why cant toshiba update this model to be included in their Satellite series?

Also, i have registered my laptop using the serial number on the website, and yet it is not showing up in the records in Toshiba's customer service.
I would like my registration to be updated in your systems as soon as possible.

If anyone has any further questions please post in here so i can provide more information as needed.
I am uploading the screenshot that i took pr... Read more

I have Satellite L650-111 ( part number PSK1JE-00E00PY4) and when I try to access Toshiba support page for my computer
there is no success. Even if I try to use "detect your notebook" there is no success.

In whole Toshiba site(s) I could not find my notebook model.

I'm very disappointed whit this situation, even more because that I had Toshiba Satellite A80-129 and whole
set of drivers and support are listed.

disappointed user

Answer:Satellite L650-111 is not listed in Toshiba's support

There is no reason to be disappointed.
If you search drivers and for some reason detecting option doesn?t work properly there is also way to find all drivers manually.

You have Satellite L650 with model number PSK1JE. That?s all you need to know.
Please check it again and if you still have problem to find drivers I will explain you how to find them.

The microphone does'nt work. I checked everything under windows 7-32bit. I tried with Skype and others. Nothing is working. I looked for drivers for soundcard, but the diagnostic on the toshiba support site gives as result : laptop not found. Satellite L450 with extension 173 is not listed.

I bought Satellite L450-173 one year ago. It is not listed in the list of Satellite computers on Toshiba Site. When I do Autodetect, it is not found by the search motor. Why?

Any idea on the subject?

Answer:Satellite L450-173 - Microphone doesn't work and not listed on Toshiba page

Hi reibea2,

Is the microphone listed in device manager?
If yes the microphone should be working and probably you have to enable the microphone boost in Windows sound settings.

Furthermore the microphone belongs to internal webcam so I would reinstall the webcam driver instead sound driver.

The drivers can be downloaded on driver download page where your model is still listed: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Notebook > Satellite > Satellite L Series > Satellite L450 > PSLYCE > Windows 7 32bit

I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to upgrade my drivers, so I connected myself on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my laptop is not referenced on the site, there are well *M70-168* and *M70-170* but not *M70-169*
I tried the reconnaissance by serial number, result: NOT RECOGNIZED

I tested the autod?tection, and there too, the result was: NOT RECOGNIZED.
I am astonished that my laptop is not recognized on the official site of TOSHIBA, whereas I had bought it in a store.

Somebody can tell me if he had the same problem, and give me the indications in order to upgrade my laptop?

Thank you

Answer:Satellite M70-169 is not recognized on Toshiba website

Satellite M70 is pretty old notebook model and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn?t work properly. Your notebook is European model and has part number PSM70E (very important for search).
Anyway you can find all drivers or updates manually. Please do it as follow:

Visit Toshiba download page under
Choose follow options:
Product type - ARCHIVE
Product series - SATELLITE M SERIES
Model - SATELLITE M70 (PSM70)
Short Model No - PSM70E
Operating system - your OS

And all available stuff will be listed there.

If you have more questions let us know.

Toshiba laid out on the site archive **, which contains the *corrupted* file!
HERE is the link.
It is packed with file *TC20043100A.exe* (if there is an error decompressing checksum CRC). Windows 7 also can not run TC20043100A.exe so I can not install *Value Added Package*

Lay, please file a *corrected* !

Answer:Satellite L - VAP on Toshiba website is corrupted

Are you sure that the file is corrupted?
I have even downloaded the file and I didn?t get any CRC error. It was successful to unzip the file so I can?t notice any problem.

In my opinion you should try it again. Maybe the download wasn?t successful.

I unzipped each of these and can only find a PROUnstl.exe file, which un-installs any existing drivers; I cannot find a "Setup.exe" or anything that sets up either of my wired or wireless networking cards. I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Is there anywhere I can get a driver that has an easier to use "install.exe" file in it?

Is there anyone that can help me over-come this problem?

Your files aren't stored in the main Toshiba files, which probably means Toshiba no longer supports your model. But they are still stored in the listed archives. This is all the files I could find for your device Windows 7 32bit

Important drivers

Firmware: You will need at least one of these but not all, use the one you know you had before the refresh. If you don't know which one you had then use the top one.

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. I'm trying to find downloads for a Satellite L500 PSLS6A-00X013 but it doesn't show up any where. The serial number search is as useless as the part number search. Am I missing something?

bought a Satellite L100-179 in 2006 and haven't really used it.

When we bought it we thought it had WiFi built in.
On the bottom of it on a sticker it says the following

LAN MAC: 0016xxxxxxxxxx then a barcode, and under that, Wireless Lan: Without W/L

Can anyone explain this to me and what it means.

I get the feeling that it doesn't have built in WiFi.
So I will need a Wireless Card.

Anyone any suggestions. I know the Belkin one that we have for another LapTop is useless.

The Belkin will only pick up half the signal strength that my Dell with built in WiFi.

Thanks for any help

Answer:Satellite L100-179: What does "without W/L" mean?

Hi mate

What does ?Wireless Lan: Without W/L? means?

It?s very simple? it means without WLan and this means that the WLan card is not installed in this notebook.

The LAN MAC: xxxxxx means the MAC address of the LAN card?. It?s a identification ID.

This machine seems to get rather hot. However, I do not know how hot it is supposed to get.

Answer:Satellite L100-113 - Seems to get rather hot

Hi Hairyloon,

I have noticed the same on my notebook that it?s getting hotter after a certain time but it seems to be a normal behavior because the dust is blocking the fan in notebook. Therefore you have to clean your notebook using compressed air spray to blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.

In FAQ section in forum I found a good article how to do this:

My friend has given me an old Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4E 005009EN to look at. It will not recognise or play DVD's. I have tried using Nero, Cyberlink and VLC media players but they cannot see a DVD. A CD will play no problem, but a DVD will not even spin up to speed.

When I look in My Computer it says that a TSST corp. CD/DVD TS-L632M is installed, but when I look at the edge of the DVD drive itself it says DVD.R/RW with lightscribe? The software is also the original software still.
I see from the Toshiba downloads page for this model that the TSST DVD-RAM drive was originally fitted to the laptop so I am assuming that a DVD-RW has been fitted later?

In Device Manager if I scan for Hardware Changes nothing shows. If I attempt to update the drivers nothing is found? Out of desperation I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Toshiba website but that doesn't help?
If that is the case why doesn't Windows XP recognise a DVD-RW?

Can anybody see something I have missed please?

Answer:Satellite Pro L100 - DVD will no even spin up

Different notebooks are delivered with different hardware so maybe the notebook was delivered with this drive but in my opinion it?s not important anymore.

Fact is if DVD is not recognized it seems to be a hardware malfunction but what you can do is cleaning the lens of drive using a microfiber towel. Do it carefully that you don?t scratch or destroy the lens (dust could be on the lens). After this try it again if it will recognize a DVD.

If not the drive must be replaced and you should contact an authorized service provider. The guys can order a compatible drive and replace it. :)

Hey peeps,

I currently own a Toshiba Satellite L100, unfortunately a day or so after purchase it went faulty so I sent it back to Toshiba and they repairs it after 3 weeks or so. Since I have had it back, it has been fine, and then last night it decided it would shutdown???

Windows actually shut down properly, it was not a random cut off as though there was a faulty connection or a dodged piece of hardware, it just shut down... So I thought nothing of it and tried to turn it back on, nothing happened then a few seconds after it turned on for a second or so then back off, so I just left it. Whilst I was sat down it kept trying to boot it self up with no success, so I went to sleep. The next morning I pressed the power button and it worked perfect.

Now I am a fairly intermediate user of Windows and know a fair bit about hardware so I am guessing this is more hardware related. However I am hoping it is not, with xmas coming up I do not want to be sending it back to service knowing it may take up to a month to get it back!

Answer:Satellite L100 Turning Off

Hi Danny,

My first thoughts are that your notebook overheated and shut down to protect the internal components. Typically when this happens the notebook will then not power on or boot up successfully until everything has cooled down sufficiently. However, the fact that Windows shut down normally would seem to rule this out since over-heating invariably causes an instant loss of power rather than a controlled shutdown.

Anyway, it is worth cleaning out any dust or fluff from the cooling system (use a vacuum cleaner hose against the air intakes on the bottom of the unit).

It is also worth making sure that nothing obstructs the air intake grilles when the notebook is in use. so don't place the unit on soft furnishings, loose papers etc.

Finally I would recommend that you scan your notebook for viruses/malware just in case something has crept in unnoticed.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100 - trying to upgrade to 2GB RAM

I cannot say for sure but I presume there is compatibility problem.
Which RAMs have you bought (specification/manufacturer)?

Many people buy cheap and some no-name modules and report about the same issue.
The "Value" RAM Modules use a lot of cheap chips utilizing multiple banks/channels, which can cause compatibility problems with some Chipsets/CPU's.

Post exact notebook model and we can pick up info about 100% compatible modules for your notebook model.

Hi, I have a two year old Satellite Pro L100. Up until now it has worked fairly well, though about 6 weeks ago it started automatically shutting itself down when i was in the middle of using it. At first I thought it was a heating problem, so I've been sure to keep it on a flat hard surface and have a fan where I work anyway. I also thought it may be a fault with the dvd drive, so i've stopped using that and did a system restore a few weeks ago.

Lately though it has become increasingly frequent - it shut down 7 times today, sometimes after only being on for 10-15 minutes or so. I'm still clueless as to what the problem is - I've run virus checks and there's no problem. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do?

I'm trying to write my dissertation for university, which is due in soon, and am finding this problem (and the added stress!) not helpful!

Could it possibly be a design defect (I have only had it two years). Has anyone else reported similar problems?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Buy a can with compressed air and blow some some air trough the ventilation holes but be gently when blowing. The fan could be damaged when blowing too long, so I would suggest to blow 2-3 seconds, wait a second and then repeat the procedure until the dust has been completely removed. Additionally I would clean up everything around the ventilation holes with a small brush.

My Satellite L100-179 is about 9 months old. A month after buying it it totally died. Sent it back and they replaced the motherboard and keyboard. 4 months ago it did the same, but I left it for a day and it booted no problem.

Same thing happened this morning. Totally dead, so I unplugged and removed the battery. Tried it again but to no avail. Then I put the battery in and the mains and left it for 20 minutes. It sprang to life again.

What is going on here? Has anyone had the same problem? What is causing it to do this? A faulty motherboard maybe? The warranty runs out in 3 months so I want to know if this is a major fault.

Answer:Satellite L100-179 sometimes runs, sometimes does not run

> What is going on here? Has anyone had the same problem? What is causing it to do this? A faulty motherboard maybe?

Believe me? we can only speculate about the fault.
But I'm sure this is definitely not a normal behaviour and I would really recommend asking the service guys for a further check.

Who knows what will happen in next time. Maybe the notebook will not boot anymore?!? I would not risk this and would take the warranty!!!

Best regards

As in subject ... can I boot my Satellite L100-194 from USB key/HDD?
I don't found this option in BIOS ...
Or are there any BIOS update which makes it possible?

Answer:Satellite L100-194 - is boot from USB possible?

As far as I know something like this is not possible. Maybe on some business notebooks like Tecra or Portege, but not on Satellite L series.

Actually since I have got the notebook, I haven't heard a single Beep from it. Drivers are installed, no yellow marks are showing in Device manager, everything seems to be installed properly, although sound is not working.

I think there is some kind of conexant audio device, but not sure about it.

I have a problem after having cleaned my coumputer and re-installed windows.
Now there is no sound at all... All the rest is functionning

I looked on this site for downloading a sound driver, but it seems, a driver is not available at all for the model L100-119.
Is there anyone who can help?

Can I use another driver?
Or do somebody know how I can get the right driver?

I hope somebody knows something...

Answer:Satellite L100-119 - No Sound

You are taking about Windows installation. What window OS have you installed?
L100-119 belongs to the PSLA3E series. So if you want drivers, then you have to search for the PSLA3E series.

Satellite L100 drivers are in the Archive? you have to chose Archive in Product type.

Toshiba driver page provides sound drivers for Win XP and Vista?
Check it!

Satellite L100-194 > PSLA3E-02X012G3

I have the model above and i tried to install 2 gb of ram 2x1gb Corsair DDR 2 and it does not work , the laptop does not boot.

I tried updating the BIOS, but no result .
Also i lost my original Utility disc . Is there an image that can be downloaded by toshiba owners?

Answer:RAM upgrade on Satellite L100-194

You have been faced with compatibility problem and this is typical behaviour when non-compatible module is used.

On this forum you can find many threads where people report about same problem with Corsair modules.
I recommend you to buy Kingston or Toshiba modules. Both are tested and will work properly.

Was hoping for some advice.

I have recently purchased a second hand Satellite Pro L100, came with the following configuration.

Celeron M 370, 256mb Ram, 40gb HDD, Win XP

As the laptop is well out of warranty, I have stripped the laptop down and upgraded it to the following spec.

Pentium M 735 (SL7EP), 2gb Ram, 40 HDD, Win 7 Ultimate

Everything seems to work perfectly, but was hoping to upgrade the CPU further, to maybe a Core Duo.

I notice on the Toshiba datasheet (* *) for the L100, the configuration of this laptop does go up to a Core Duo 2400 (albeit on the PSLA1 motherboard)

Only problem I can see is the Core Duo 2400 only comes in a FC-?BGA package , whereas the L100 seems to have a FC-?PGA socket, will a FC-?BGA CPU fit in a FC-?PGA socket ?

Also, does anyone know if the PSLA4 motherboard in my L100 will support a 667 or 533 MHz front side bus ?

I have emailed Toshiba support direct - but unfortunately they advised that because they've not tested any other CPU's on the laptop that they cannot advise me - seems a bit of a strange answer considering they use multiple configurations on the same motherboard.

Many Thanks, Vaughn.
S.Wales, UK.

This depends on the chipset!
As far as I know the notebook supports the Mobile Intel? 945GM Express Chipset

According to the Intel page the chipset supports 533MHz / 667MHz FSB and 4GB RAM support

I've bought a Satellite L100-181 a couple of years back and need some support.
I have searched, but cannot find any info on this type of machine.
I can only find L100-129 an -130.
Other data I found on the machine:

Model no: PSLA0E - 01HOOCBF

I would like to find info on the following issues:

1. Are there any bios- and or driver updates?
2. What is the max RAM that I can install (supported by the motherboard) ?
3. Is the L100-181 the same as the -129 or _131?
4. I would like to by a new battery, can I use a battery from a L100-129 ?
5. Why can't I find any support/info on my type of laptop ?
6. Is there a manual to clean the keyboard an laptop internals (dust removal)?

Any solid info is greatly appreciated !

Answer:What is a Satellite L100-181 and where is the support?

Hi y20dth,

Sure there are informations on Toshibas downloadsite!
Just choose your model PSLA0E

Q1. Are there any bios- and or driver updates?
-which bios version is currently on your machine? and see download area

Q2. What is the max RAM that I can install (supported by the motherboard) ?
-see manual, also downloadable and depends on your operatinsystem also.

Q3. Is the L100-181 the same as the -129 or _131?
-as far as i know these numbers after the "-" reflecting the different equipment eg. hdd, ram and so on

Q4. I would like to by a new battery, can I use a battery from a L100-129 ?
-i would say yes - because it's the same modell, better ask a toshiba service partner.

Q5. Why can't I find any support/info on my type of laptop ?
-tried to download the user manual? there are helpful informations provided.

Q6. Is there a manual to clean the keyboard an laptop internals (dust removal)?
-as far as i know: nope, but using a brush without! solvents or water would do a nice job.

Of course it should be possible to use a PCMCIA WLan card.
I don?t use such cards but I found some in the net.
I would recommend visiting a notebook dealer. I?m sure you will find many offers.

The other option could be a USB WLan stick. The WLan performance shoudl be the same and it's very easy to use and connect it

I have a Satellite L100-176 that I bought about 3 months ago. I started having small but really annoying problems almost right away and on the 3rd week got a major ntfs.sys error.

Eventually, I fixed that all by myself (after spending couple of days reading posts on series of forums) using non-MS open source software - what an irony. I run various tests on the RAM and HDD - problem there seemed unlikely. I used my TOSHIBA Recovery CD to reset the whole thing, but until now I still keep having various problems.

The system restarts occasionaly, some OS WinXP fuctions and services are not accessible. The cause of the more serious stuff (according MS error reports) is driver malfunctions.

So, my questions is: Does this sound familiar to anybody? Are there any known serious problems with Toshiba drivers, that I need to be aware of?

Thank all in advance for back-up!

Answer:Satellite L100-176: Does anybody have driver problems?

And which WinXP factions and services are not accessible?

After usage of recovery DVD your notebook will have factory settings again and all should be as at first day and after first start.

I have recently acquired a Satellite L100-113 laptop.
I am having a few problems with it, but the most fundamental one is that the keyboard has died: no response from it whatsoever.
It doesn't respond at boot, so it is clearly not a windows problem, and an external keyboard works ok.
The obvious answer is to replace the keyboard, but considering the other problems, I wanted to be sure that was the fault, and not just a symptom before I throw too much money at it.
Besides, I can't actually see how it unplugs (I don't like to force it unless I'm sure.

Any top tips or suggestions?

Answer:Is it possible to clear the CMOS on my Satellite L100?

Well? it?s not possible to do this like on the desktop PC. The notebook motherboard architecture is simply different! You can also not delete the BIOS password by removing the CMOS battery! This will not function!

There is only one solution! You have to contact the ASP in your country for a help. The technician could remove the password using a special Toshiba program.

I test my HDD Drive (Toshiba L100-122, HDD MK6034GSX) with HD Tach and I see that Burst Speed is about 35-40Mb/s. Every anothers HDD (but not Toshiba HDD) have Burst Speed about 80-90Mb/s. Why Toshiba has that low Burst Speed and is this parameter important for efficiency? I asked a Polish Toshiba Service first but they are not able to answer me.

kind regards

Answer:Satellite L100-122 - HDD burst speed is low

This is not true. Not every HDD has a higher Burst speed.
The burst speed tests the effectiveness of the memory cache sub-system and measures the speed of the hard drive and controller interface.
The burst speed depends from different factors.
As said the Hard drive but also the controller interface is important. The HDD rotate 5400rpm. This is a max value. It rotate slowly if the cache is full loaded. Currently UltraDMA/66 IDE drives can reach 66mb/s but this is not a fix value.
I don't know how you test it but possibly some 3rd party applications has accessed the HDD during the tests.

Ps: The L100 supports a serial ata 1.0a interface.

Hi all,
I've bought model L100-132. The battery is only 2000 mAh and lasts only 1 hour. I turned off anything, set power saver to MAX_BATTERY, but it gives nothing. Every site tells it last for over 2h, and some say that it's almost 3h. Ok, so if they have so long, then I was given too small!

Shouldn't I receieve at least 4000 mAh?
Maybe someone has that model with the same small battery ?
Please, answer if you can to [email protected]

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100-132: Battery is only 2000mA

Well, I think the notebook will be delivered with a standard 2000mAh battery pack but you can order a stronger battery with perspicuously much more performance.
I have visited and checked the Options and Accessories website of Toshiba and there you can find additional batteries:

Battery Pack ( 6 Cell, 4300mAh) PA3399U-1BRS
Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4000mAh, 6 Cell) PA3465U-1BRS
Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4000mAh, 8 Cell) PA3506U-1BRS
Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4300mAh, 8 Cell) PA3457U-1BRS
High Capacity Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 12 Cell, 8600mAh) PA3400U-1BRS

But additionally you should know that the battery working time depends mostly on the notebook usage.

Hello, I bought this laptop about a year/year and a half ago, its a celeron M with 256MB RAM.
Now its struggling to do the most basic things like start up without hoggin up the system, running web pages and even little arcade games or just checking your emails becomes a hassle.
I am goin to upgrade this with a 1 GB RAM stick but is there anything else which can be done about this as for ?400 for this?

Answer:Question about upgrading Satellite Pro L100

The notebook upgrade is limited? usually you cannot update parts like CPU or GPU?
But you could upgrade HDD or RAM?

A Satellite L100 RAM can be upgraded up to 4GB.
In one slot you could use 2GB DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM module.

But in my opinion the 2GB (2x 1GB) are more as enough.

In your case the RAM update is really advisable because the 265MB RAM don?t provide a best performance. It?s simply too low?

Would this work in my laptop? Also what does 4300mAh mean? Mine has 2000mAh? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Question about battery for Satellite Pro L100

I am not sure if it would work, the most important thing is that the Volts fit for your machine. Does the battery fit in your machine (I mean in your battery slot?).

The xxxx mAh means the capacity, so if you got more capacity then your machine will run longer on battery.

But if I were you I wouldn?t make any experiments with my machine, because if you put the battery in the machine and the batt damages your system, then you haven?t any warranty and your machine will become a heavy paperweight.

Ok the machine is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4. Problem occurred during a BIOS update from the official Toshiba website. I downloaded the zip file, extracted it and activated the .exe file inside.

The window opened by the .exe was a BIOS flashing program, the .exe also simultaneously wrote a new BIOS file to a temporary folder.
When tried to use the program all I got was an error saying that it couldn't find the new BIOS to input.

I tried again only to get the same error. I then left the laptop for several minutes and when I returned, I found a blank unresponsive laptop.
By unresponsive I mean an obvious lack of BIOS functions i.e. power LED's not changing when plugging in of unplugging from the mains and the fact that I had to pull the battery out to turn the machine off. When the machine is turned on now all it does is check the drives and restarts (no display, no beeps)

What do I do?
The first thing that came to mind was to reset the BIOS.
One problem, I can't find the RTC battery or a jumper switch.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100 does not run after BIOS update

Hi George

I cannot say why it happened but I can say what happened.

In my opinion something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure and the ROM modules was not writer properly.

The technician should be able to rewrite the ROM module and to update the BIOS again.

At this moment i saw my pointer and notebook auto restart.

I tried many times but still get the same problem.

It's any solution about this problem?

Many Thanks,

Answer:Satellite L100 Recovery Problem

For offering some solution we must know what happen exactly and on this way it is not easy to say why recovery installation stops on this point.

Is recovery DVD OK? I mean is DVD clean and without scratches?
Enter BIOS settings, set it to defaults and try again.
If the same happen again try to obtain original Microsoft installation disc and check if installation will starts properly (HDD must be recognized).
You can also try to obtain another HDD and check if installation will stop on the same point.

It is really not easy to say what is wrong there.
Do you use recovery DVD for the first time?

I currently have a Satellite Pro L100-125 laptop, which I've had for a few years now.
It is getting on abit I know, but until recently it did everything I needed it to do. Unfortunately I've had a small accident and the laptop has been damaged.

Claiming for a new one from house insurance because I'm not in the position to buy a new laptop at the moment (being a lowly student and all!). The insurance company have asked about the damage and the value of the computer.

The damage I know, it is the current value of the computer which I'm unsure of!
Its probably not much but if I get it wrong then a couple of things may happen!
If I state the value is higher than it actually is, then they may say it is repairable or say that it is a fraudulent claim!

If I state the value too low, then it will be written off but I won't get a very good replacement (I know this is the lesser of two evils and it sounds like I'm just trying it on, but this claim will push my premiums up next year regardless, so I might as well get the best I possibly can out of it!).

Does anyone happen to know the current market value of a laptop with the spec listed below?!

The computer is a Satellite Pro L100-125
Intel Centrino Duo T2400 @ 1.83GHz
2Gb RAM (512Mb originally)
60Gb HDD

Also, just so I know what to expect, does anyone know the approximate cost of replacing the screen and casing on this particular laptop?

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Answer:What is a current market value of Satellite Pro L100-125

Satellite L100 series is already discontinued and seems it?s not anymore on the market?
The point is that you could buy an new much stronger notebook with better hardware specifications for about 400-500 euros.
I have no idea how much the fix would be cost but if the display or motherboard would be dead then the repair process could be a costly affair because the display and motherboards are most expensive notebook parts?

Answer:Re: Satellite Pro L100 - Lines On Screen

hi csgwasteman,
if the lines apear/disapear when moving the lid
can be caused by a broken lcd cable.

exchange it.
if you are lucky (it's cheap) the problem is gone
check all the cables to lcd if the are correct attached, sometimes a connector get lose and causes similar failures.

The notebook can be upgraded to 2GB RAM (2x 1GB) DDR2 RAM (533 MHz)
For me it seems that both modules cannot work together.

This sounds silly but it?s nothing unusual and can happen always?
I read in different forums and articles about such notebook behaviors?

In my opinion you should replace both RAM modules and should test another RAMs.

PS: Check in BIOS if both modules has been recognized properly and set BIOS to default settings..

The downloaded sound driver package contains an Microsoft patch KB888111XPSP.exe
You have to install this firstly before you would start with sound driver installation.

Therefore I would recommend checking the device manger and to remove the sound card and the High definition audio device from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook, install the MS patch, reboot the notebook once again and then install the sound driver.

Starting from the beginning, yesterday for first time my husband connected his Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4E to an LCD TV using a s-video cable. Everything seemed to work fine but thebackground on thedesktop had vanished, there was just a plain white background with all the usual desktop icon. He restarted the lappy thinking this would sort it out but did not disconnect from the TV first. The lappy did not start back up - just had a plain black screen, no warnings or anything.

A couple techie minded friends arrived at that point and suggested the lappy had 'lost' its display drivers and, after a lot of research decided the only option was to reinstall everything from scratch.

I do not have the original Toshiba restore disks or recovery disks so downloaded all the drivers from this site. Now the laptop will not boot-up if the wifi is turned on. This model has a Atheros network card - at least the lable on the bottom says contains Atheros AR5BMB5.

If I turn the wifi switch to off the lappy starts up every time, if however the switch is on it will not start up even in safe mode. If I turn the wifi on after windows XP has started up the lappy freezes and keyboard etc are non responsive and i have to force a shut-down by holding down the power button.

So far I have spent hours trawling this and other websites to try find any clues that might help.

Does anyone have any suggestions as Christmas is likely to be hell if hubby does not have his lappy to play with!... Read more

Answer:Satellite L100 will not boot up if wi-fi is enabled

Hello Tree

After almost 10 years with Toshiba notebooks I must say that I have never heard about something like this. For me it sounds unbelievable.
The best solution for you is to install OS using original Toshiba recovery image. If you don't have one you can order it.

What you can try is to enter BIOS settings at startup. Set it to default settings and check if the problem persists.

The original memory of our notebook (Satellite Pro L100-132) is 512 MB.

I bought an additional memory of 1 GB (type was checked in the product literature).
I have installed the additional memory, the system boots and can see the additional memory of 1 GB.

However, the system does not see the original memory of 512 MB, when additional memory is fitted in the notebook.

The system should have seen both original and additional memory, as according to the specification for the serial number of our notebook (checked on Toshiba official website) the maximum of memory (that the system can see) is 2 GB.

I tried to transpose the place of original and additional memory with each other, but the problem is the same.
Updating the system's BIOS did not solve the problem at all.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100-132: old RAM is not recognized by system

It is typical behaviour for compatibility problem.
Have you bought well known brand or some cheap no-name module?

Here are compatible and tested RAM modules:
DDR2-533 256MB (PA3389U-2M25)
DDR2-533 512MB (PA3412U-2M51)
DDR2-533 1GB (PA3411U-2M1G)

Buy PA3411U-2M1G and it will probably work.

I now have my DVD player enabled but sound output through the laptop's speakers is low, although volume is set to maximum. But if I open Sounds and Audio Devices Properties and in the section Sound playback, default device, Conexant AMC Audio I open Volume Control that way, the PC speaker balance and volume slider are greyed out and set at about 75%?

If I plug in my pc speakers then I can get normal maximum volume. Why is the laptops sound so low?

Answer:Satellite Pro L100 - Low speaker sound

Are the speakers set as default device? If yes you can change the volume using speaker icon in taskbar. Left click on this icon and you can move the slider between 0 and 100%.

If it doesn?t work you should try to reinstall the sound driver. You can download this driver on official Toshiba website: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

I recently purchased a 2nd hand Satellite Pro L100, but it's OS (XP Pro) is corrupted and won't recognise any soundcard or sound capabilities on the motherboard.

I've found and tried a download from this site, but there is a file missing or corrupted.

Also, I can't find out either what the soundcard is so I can download drivers, or what specific files I need for XP to communicate with any function on the motherboard! Argh!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Answer:Lost audio on my Satellite Pro L100

The soundcard is onboard. This means that the sound chip is mounted on the motherboard.
I have checked the Toshiba driver page and it seems that the sound drivers are designed for the Conexant sound chip.

Please check firstly what Satellite Pro L100 series you have; the Toshiba page provides drivers for PSLA4 and for PSLA1 series. The right number you will find at the bottom of the unit.

Nevertheless I would recommend reinstalling the OS from the Toshiba recovery CD.
If you don?t have such CD you can order it from the ASP in your country!

I've set my background to a neutral grey. But the display is far too blue. On my regular pc it's easy to calibrate the colour display, I use a Spyder2PRO device and can correct the Red-Green-Blue individually. But I can't find out where to correct my Satellite Pro L100 (PSLA4). Just to warm it up a bit would help. Any suggestions please? Thanks, Linda

Answer:Colour Calibration on Satellite Pro L100

I?m not sure which graphic card was installed on your notebook but possibly a one from Intel.
However in my opinion the color correction could be done only in the graphic card properties. No matter what graphic card was installed. Another area is not known to me.

Go to the control panel and there you could find either the Intel GMA option or you can enter through the Display options.
In the graphic card properties please use the ?Advanced? button. Then a new window should appear and in the ?Color management? tab you could try to change the settings.

The other possibility is to enter the ?Intel graphics?? tab and there to check the ?Color correction? option.

New to this site, I have a Satellite L100-179 running on XP Professional, originally my laptop came with XP Home and I have the product recovery for this.

I want to install Windows 7 and also clean up my laptop.
So should I first do the product recovery I assume xp home is on this, to delete all the rubbish from laptop and then install windows 7?
Will windows 7 work ok or am I wasting my money?
Laptop has 40 GB Hard disk ,1.7 GHz, 1MB Memory, Intel(R) Celeron (R) m

Thanks for any help

Answer:Want to install Windows 7 on Satellite L100-179

hi tracydore,
as microsoft says: "win7 will run on every machine that runs winXP"
this might be right but make sure to download all needed drivers first.
maybe you cant use all features but it will run on this machine...

if unsure make the compatibility test (download from microsoft)
this one will tell you if win7 will run on it.

you can only upgrade from vista to win7 - all other have to do a clean install!

Dear Madam, Mister,

I am having a corrupted (rootkited) Toshiba L100-101. I need to reinstall the whole system on it. I have not the original CD with the OEM WIn and drivers. I have searched for the driver on your website without success. This model seems not to be included in your list (nor in Toshiba list).

Could you send me a link of where I can download the whole set of drivers for Win XP and for Win 7 ?

Thanks in advance

hi , i ordered     hp 15-af008ax , and am planning to install win 8.1 64 bit , but when i opened hp website to download drivers  , theres nothing in there.. so could u please provide a link to download all drivers for my hp 15-af008ax arriving shortly. if u had removed this model from your website that would be painfull and i must cancel my order.. so plz help me

Answer:no drivers listed on hp website

Hi: You should be able to use all of the W8.1 drivers and software from the 15z-af000 model on yours, as it has the same hardware. I would not use any of the BIOS or firmware files though. I do not work for or represent HP, but I will report the missing drivers issue for your model to the HP Support Forum Administrators, who will contact the department responsible for maintaining the driver pages. But in the meantime, those drivers from that other model will work just fine on yours.

Bought my Satellite L100 in July last year. Problem is that I need much more pressure to press the "a" key than all the others. How can I fix this?

Can I lift the keyboard to check why it's almost jammed? I had no problems when I bought this notebook.

Answer:A keyboard button issue on Satellite L100

If you will remove the whole keyboard you will lose the warranty and I would not risk the warranty because of the single keyboard key.

But you can remove the single key cap from the keyboard and check if there is dirt or something else with a bad influence to the key mechanism.

For a keyboard replacement you have to contact the service partner in your country???

I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate and I have NO SOUND on my Satellite L100-121. I got this from download area , installed it, but still NO SOUND.

Need your help asap.

Answer:No sound with Vista Ultimate on Satellite L100-121

Your Satellite notebook is Vista supported but at the moment the drivers are not available. If you check sticker on the bottom side you will see that model description (PSLxxx) doesn?t match listed model on Toshiba download page.

Please be patient and check download page from time to time. Hopefully the right driver will be available soon.

Hi there,

We have a Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4E and unfortunately, a startup password has been entered that we do not know. Does anyone have any ideas how we can bypass this?

Thanks for your time, any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100: How can I bypass the startup password?

If you mean the BIOS password then I have bad news for you.
If the BIOS password is not known to you, you can not bypass the password.
This can be done only by authorized service partner in your country.

Therefore ask the guys for an help???

Hi guys

i want to install an internal webcam on my L100-09.
Does the motherboard on these have the connector on motherboard for one?

Also where can I buy a webcam that would fit?

Answer:Can I upgrade Satellite L100-109 with a internal webcam?

If the notebook was not equipped with the internal webcam then you would be not able to install such internal webcam.
You have just only one possibility; you could use a small external USB webcam.

Such webcams are easy to use and to install? you can mount it on the display frame and could connect it to one of the USB ports.

Now already, I need to buy another but I am running to problems when trying to find the part numbers.

I am hoping to find some info out if I can. I have a Satellite Pro L100 and I have had it for about 15 months, for the second time from new the lid is cracking around the hinge area, it is now out of warranty!! I know I need to replace the lid and the case around the screen, but do I need to replace the hinges as well?

I don???t really want to spend on the case if the problem is going to come back, thanks.

Answer:Broken lid and hinges replacement on Satellite Pro L100

Hi there,

I would suggest also to exchange the hinges, too, because the material surely started to be weakly and I think if you just exchange the lid and the case you will have the same problem after some time.

The new hinges should be harder and last longer..

My opinion ;)

i just buy a satellite L100 in china, the windows language is chinese.. how i can change the chinese language to english on my windows. Or how i can get thecd recovery for satellite L100 innglish language.. thanks..

Answer:How to get cd recovery for Satellite L100 bought in China?

Hi Santo

If you will use the ?Advanced search? option of this forum then you will find many postings about a similar theme!

Anyway, I will explain you it one time more ;)
Usually the recovery CD you can get from the Toshiba ASP. BUT you have bought the notebook in China. In this case you will be not able to order the Toshiba image CD in English language. You can get only a recovery CD in the same language where you have bought the notebook.

But if you want to have the OS in English language so you have to install the Windows from the original English Microsoft CD.
Then you can download the Toshiba drivers and utilities form the Toshiba website and install it.

I have reinstall a L100 with XP. Download the drivers.
Now i have a "Controller Bus x System qestion in "!".

What driver i need?

TNX and sorry x my bad english

Answer:Satellite L100: What driver for Controller Bus device?

I selected the Toshiba driver page and I found two different Satellite L100.
I hope you have downloaded the right drivers.

Furthermore I have found a ?Installation Instruction? on this page.
I hope you have followed this guide line because the drivers must be installed in this order.
Believe me, I have installed x times the drivers on my notebook and I have had to follow the right order!

PS: Additional you could check the Toshiba FAQ which I found in the knowledge base on the Tosh page.
It describes how to find out which diver is needed for a unknown device.

Hope I could help.

My keyboard is not working. The easy answer for the moment would be to use a USB keyboard, except that option is disabled in the BIOS.

Is there any way to change or reset the BIOS without a keyboard?

Answer:Satellite L100-113 - Changing BIOS without a keyboard

Try to boot the Windows OS and start the Toshiba Assist.
There you can find the Toshiba HWSetup. This tool contains some options which could be changed in BIOS too.

So I think there could be a option which enables the USB keyboard support.
I think this should be possible using the USB mouse.

What is the Chipset in that laptop?

You can use the CPU-Z utility to view the Chipset. Then google the chipset model for specifications. For example, google "Intel Chipset i945 specifications"

Hi everyone!

I need your help... Here's my story.

There was a time when I need to reformat the Sat L100 laptop and an XP cd is used instead of the recovery disc since, I'm too dense to know about it.
When I've found out about the use of the recovery disc, I've tried to boot from it, and I've already seen the menu which gives me the chance to restore the laptop's configuration, but I did not move forward since I really do not need to reformat way back then.

After some time, (again) I need to reformat but the problem is, the installation from the recovery disc is asking for toshiba raid drivers.
What has happened?????? and what should I do?

I've read some forums and they are suggesting to change the SATA mode in the BIOS options, but I cannot find it in the laptop, thou I'm seeing it in other toshiba laptop. How can I change the SATA mode in the L100 laptop?

I've also read that I raid drivers must be copied in a floppy disk, wherein I dont have an external floppy drive.
Is there a way that I can install it without pressing F6 or something, i.e. on Windows desktop? Or can I save it on USB flash drive?

Answer:Satellite L100 - Need SATA drivers to install the Win XP

First of all the SATA mode option is not available in the BIOS of L100 so you could not change this to compatible mode.

Secondly you don?t need the floppy disk drive to install the SATA drivers.
If you would read more threads here you would find out that you could also use the software called nLite which would help you to include the SATA drivers into the Win XP.
This application creates the new Win XP with SATA drivers and you could use this CD to reinstall the windows XP.

I wonder why the Intel Storage Manger has not been placed on the Toshiba European driver page in the driver download L100 area? however? as mentioned the Intel Matrix Storage Manger contains the SATA drivers and you need this package.

You can search in other notebook series for such the Intel Storage Manger or you will search on Intel page and would download it.
Then as I?ve mentioned use the nLite and include the SATA drivers.

More details about nLite you will find on the nLite page:

Does somebody knows about the normal temperature of the processors because my are centrino duo t2400 sometimes over 90 celsius and how to solve this problem.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100 centrino duo T2400 temperatures

First of all: how do you know that your centrino is operating at 90? celsius? Which application do you use to measure the temperatures?

In most of the cases regarding temperature measuring on mobile system you have to know that the temperatures are displayed much more higher than they are.
The problem is that the sensors in mobile computers are much more different then in desktop mainboards but the applications are mainly designed to read the temperatures out from these desktop boards but not mobile mainboards which results in false (or too high) temperatures.

Hi guys/gals,

A friend has brought their L100 Pro round to me because after a crash they used the recovery DVD to re-install XP, however the machine will not now boot it keeps giving a "missing ntoskrnl.exe" error, I have tried to re-install XP myself from the recovery DVD and get the same, it goes through all the install with no errors but still throws the same error upon reboot.

I know this is not hardware as I can install ubuntu fine and it runs OK.

I am not all that familiar with these laptops and am at a bit of a loss, have spent hours going through google, FAQ`s and these forums but have not had any luck ( maybe not searching for the right thing :-)

Am I missing something obvious?

Or am I just being super dense today?

Cheers for any help.

Answer:Satellite Pro L100: Missing ntoskrn.exe after XP re-install

As I understand you have used the Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this notebook. You didn?t use a recovery CD which was crated for another notebook series. Am I right???

I ask it because fact is that the notebook should run perfectly, without any big troubles after the usage of the recovery CD.

You are sure that this is not a hardware issue???

Well, so I wonder why you are not able to reinstall the OS using the recovery CD if the hardware is ok. That?s really strange?

Do you have a original Microsoft XP CD?
If yes, use it. Format firstly the HDD, delete all partitions and try to reinstall the OS from the MS XP CD.

A feedback would be appreciated.
