Satellite Pro M30: Question abou the DVI port support

Question: Satellite Pro M30: Question abou the DVI port support

Hi everyone
I have a Toshiba M30 Satellite Pro with a nVidia go5200 graphic card. The nvidia webpage states that this graphic card has DVI support (http://www.nvidia.co.uk/page/fx_mobile_fb_5200.html) but I have been unable to connect my apple cinema screen to the computer.
The screen is connected through a vga to dvi plug but I don't have a "real" addaptor.

Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Thanks
Magnus

Preferred Solution: Satellite Pro M30: Question abou the DVI port support

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite Pro M30: Question abou the DVI port support

Hi

According to the specification this unit has no DVI-D port and there is no possibility to connect it directly to the unit. This unit has Video VGA 15pin port only. Google a little bit around. Maybe you find a ?real? adaptor.

If you find something interesting please let us know. It can be useful for other forum members.

Main cable to the computer has frayed, plus the connector within the item has disconnected itself so is very hard to get the lead in, how do you get into this computer I have tired to take the back of, but I got so far, with all the screws out and it still would not come off, can someone help with this?

Do you have to get in from the front, by taking the letters off first?
Has anyone got a mains cable they have for sale or not require any more.

Question is: are they compatible? I bought the Port Replicator, loaded the drivers and plugged it in.
All the lights come on as they should on the 4 USB ports, and the Device Manager tells me its working properly. But if I plug the ADSL box into it (instead of straight into the USB port on the laptop) or if I try to plug the mouse into it (again, instead of straight into the laptop) neither work.
It also seems to have some effect on Windows -- inasmuch as when I try to shut the machine down, it "hangs" on the "Logging Off" section, until I physically unplug the Port Replicator.

Any guidance appreciated.

Answer:Compatibility question about Satellite Pro A60-129 and USB 2.0 Port Replicator II

Hello

I do not know what is wrong there but you should try to download and install latest offered Driver Package from Toshiba support page. You can find it under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads.

Product type ? OPTIONS
Family ? CONECTIVITY
Product Series ? DOCKS & PORT REPLICATORS

There you can find Driver Package for WXP.

By the way: maybe some additional software for mouse or modem blocks. Who knows?

Can anyone advise me if I can connect an audio interface (firewire) to the port nearest front on left side of my P200?

A friend tells me that I would need a port like this one: [http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews/Yamaha8824FXZ/images/FirewireSocket.jpg] though the P200 port is smaller: [http://pix.crutchfield.com/lifestyle/2001/l4PinFirewireJack.jpeg]

The interface I am considering buying is this one: [http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/15527]

Advice gratefully received,

saibhir

Answer:Question about Firewire Port on Satellite Pro P200

Hi

I assume the Satellite Pro P200 support the 4pol firewire port (IEEE 1394).
Your external audio device supports the 6pol firewire ports.
Therefore you would need a cable or adapter which would support both firewire standards; 4pol and 6pol

I think a cable like this one should help you to connect the audio devices to the Sat Pro P200

Hi,

I have Windows 8 Pro installed onto my laptop and I've downloaded all the drivers and everything is working fine apart from the Infrared. I've searched all over the internet and I can't find a remote control to use with this laptop (including the Toshiba website).

I've installed the latest ENE CIR Driver (v4.1) as well as the Toshiba Remote Control Manager (v3.1.0.1). I looked in Program Files to open the Toshiba Remote Control Manager however when I click on the program to open it... Nothing happens (including in the notification area).

So my question is can I actually get a remote working with this laptop at all and if not then what is this Infrared port for because I can't find anything on my computer to actually use it with/for?!

Thanks for your help :p

Answer:Satellite P850 - question about Infrared port

Maybe is your notebook not designed for usage with remote controller? Usually models designed for this are delivered with proper remote controller. It is not known to me that you can do it additionally.

Please post full model name of your notebook.

I have had many laptops that have had IR ports and all of them I have been able to use the IR port for transmitting and sending information on the IR port.
This X200 seems to be only be able to use the Toshiba remote control. Is this the case or is it a currently problem with the bug laided vista which you have not given the option of choosing xp?

Answer:Question about IRDA port on Satellite X200

Hi,

I don?t know if it really could work but I have a theory: what if the comport of the irda device has some bug and lets only the remote control through??

Maybe some driver related issue but I you can try to create some virtual comports and assign the Irda device to the comport. I really don?t know if it works but you should although try it.

Just google for "Virtual comport" and choose one of the first sites. There is some really good software which creates the comport and which gives you the ability to set every parameter of such an virtual comports.

I'm a bit confused with the 'support software' that came with my new laptop. It doesn't seem to be clear what the various programs are for.

As an example, I opened up TEMPRO and it specified a bios update which I duly installed.
Then I looked at SERVICE STATION which also seems to be for updates.
Is there some duplication in all this?

Can someone recommend which of these programs needs to be active?
Is there a brief explanation on what they do and whether there is any 'overhead' in running them?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Answer:Question about Toshiba support software for Satellite C850

I can imagine that you are a bit confused about that.
Both of them are nice applications especially Tempro. More about Tempro and Tempro service you can read on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/TEMPO_RELEASE_V1

To be honest I don?t use any of them and both are removed from my system. Generally speaking when you get new notebook you will have perfect configured OS and everything will work stabile so some not so important updates will not be needed at all. Both applications run in the background and just slow down the system.

If you have some time check other postings about these applications. You will find a lot of them here on this forum.

another question about the Pro M70 PSM75E, beside the hard drive (left hand side) there is a port which u can take off. i took it of and it looks like a grafx chip or something :s anyone with the M70 no what it is.

Thanks Again

Answer:Satellite Pro M70: Question about the port on the left hand side

Hi

Well, there are many Satellite Pro M70. It?s a large series.
But for example Satellite Pro M70-110 has a PCMCIA Type II slot.
You can use different PCMICA card in this slot. But they must be compatible.
I assume in this slot you have found a plastic board. This is only for securing.

However, if you want to know more about your unit I would recommend reading the user manual which should be preinstalled on your notebook. There you will find very, very, very ;) useful informations.

Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L755-161 and Windows 7 32bit installed (for quite some time) - when checking My Computer properties I can see that from 8GB of RAM only 2.74GB are usable.

Is this a normal value for usable memory?
Would this change depending on the additional software installed or would this only depend on hardware?
Would this value change (hopefully increase) if I reinstall my Windows 7?

Second thing:
Would it be possible/wise to upgrade to Windows 10?
Are all necessary drivers for Windows 10 released and where can they be safely downloaded?

Thanx in advance.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS laptop. Afew months after I bought XPS 15 9560, I pulled out the charging cord, and a round piece of plastic that was inside the port came out too.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

Dear Toshiba Forums users,

I've got a problem with VGA port. I'm using Windows XP Operating System. Notebook, don't like to display to External Monitor, I tried to connect all monitors at my office, but didn't resolve this problem. I also tried to reinstall Windows XP, again, and nothing changed.

Please help me.

Regards, Elbrus

Answer:Satellite U300-13M - external monitor port (VGA port) isn't working

Hello

I guess Satellite U300 was preinstalled with Vista. Am I right about that?
Anyway, if you want to use external monitor and switch successfully to it you need to install Toshiba tools and utilities. There are several of them and this will allow you to use FN+F5 key combination and switch your desktop from notebook LCD display to external monitor.

Can you please tell me one thing: have you installed all stuff from Toshiba download page following Installations Instructions document?
The notebook configuration is not known to me but try please to check Intel properties and let me know if the external monitor is recognized in properties. Usually you can there choose option to use external monitor.

You can also start Toshiba HWsetup utility. There must be tab called ?Display?. There you can also find one option to use LCD +monitor at start up.

Check it out please and post the results.

Hey Guys,

I have been messing around with Apache from (XAMPP) on my Windows computer. I know that it is not secure, but I am just testing it for right now (for fun).

I am behind a Linksys WRT54g router. I can easily access the apache server from internally (locally), and in order for me to be able to access it externally (external IP in address bar), I have to port forward in my router.

So, I port forwarded port 80 and everything worked fine. I just had a question about this.

Since most internet (HTTP) traffic is served through 80, and I just port forwarded 80 to one computer, how do the other computers on my network still have access to the net. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that this works, but I would just like to know how. Theoretically, wouldn't all the traffic that is coming through 80 be routed to that one computer?

Can someone explain this to me?

Also, when people use Apache to host sites, do they usually keep the apache ServerName (in httpd.conf) at localhost, or do they change it to a different IP? I would imagine they would keep it at localhost, so what would be the reason for changing that to a different IP?

Thanks!

Answer:Question about port forwarding port 80 (for apache) and a couple other questions

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

shipboard

Answer:[SOLVED] End ofThis is a general question regarding the end of support for XP support

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

Hi.
I have a DELL Latitude E6540 with Win7/64.   I also have a USB audio interface with its own control software.  The device doesn't play nice with Win7's USB3 drivers.  The control software can't communicate with it reliably.  I've contacted the manufacturer and they suggested to disable USB3 alltogether.  This worked.  But, now I have USB3 completely disabled in the BIOS.

I have done some research and I am curious if it is possible to force the Intel USB 3.0 xHCI driver to use EHCI (USB2.0) for a specific port?

I found some information that makes me believe it is possible, but I am not finding anybody on the Windows side of things trying to do this.   Mostly Linux users are doing this.

Can anyone help me?  As I would very much like to keep USB 3.0 support for hard drives I have, but still be able to use this audio interface on one of my ports using the USB2.0 driver.

My laptop has 4 USB ports, but they are all "SS" USB3.0 capable.

Here is the info I found that eludes to this fact:
http://superuser.com/questions/719079/usb-3-0-ports-function-as-usb-2-0-ports-on-windows-7-with-an-intel-usb-3-0-xhci

Answer:Can I force a specific port to use USB 2.0 and keep USB 3.0 support for others?

I don't think it's possible. Those 4 ports are controlled by only one card. If you change one, it will be the same for all. There is no way you can install separate drivers for each port unless probably each port is coming from separate controller cards.

Does the Yoga3Pro support Display Port output? I know that there is no connector, but the Intel chipset should support DP and I've seen DVI to HDMI or HDMI to DVI support using passive adapters. Have a 4k ASUS monitor with DP, DVI and HDMI ports. What is the display support on the 433610W?

Answer:Display Support - Port Replicator

Displayport is type of video connector interface, like HDMI and DVI.You can choose to use either the Displayport or DVI port on the dock to connect to the monitor. Or just use the vga if your LCD don't support displayport or DVI.
----------------------------------------------------------------

The Port Replicator that you listed do not have displayport support, it only supports vga. If you need displayport, then you can connect the monitor to the laptop itself. otherwise get the series 3 dock plus.

I was trying to set-up a home network so my second computer (upstairs) can access the network through ICS via my new gaming rig. My mobo is a MSI K8N Neo4 SLI Platinum with 2 LAN ports. On is Wavell LAN and other is 1394.

The Wavell is working correctly and is currently connected to internet through my ISP cable modem. The 1394 will NOT configure for this because I get a Windows message saying TCP/IP not activated on this network connection.
The properies window shows the TCP/IP protocol and it IS checked. I can set auto detect IP or I can set it to 192.168.0.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0 as instructed from web site about setting ICS network on the 1394, but it's like Windows doesn't recognize this.

My OS is XP SP2. I've not used 1394 before so not sure if it supports TCP/IP.
The two computers are connected via a cross-over cable. The upstaris computer (also XP, but no SP2 yet)is all set with the workgroup and set to auto detect IP etc.

Any suggestions, or am I barking up the wrong tree with the 1394 port?

Answer:IEEE 1394 port can it support TCP/IP?

IEEE 1394 (Firewire) requires a very special E X P E N S I V E cable and running it
that distance will be prohibitive. Ethernet CAT5 cabling is typically ~$80/100 feet, and that's plenty enough.

The easy (&cheap) solution is a router;
modem-->router-->both PCs, both config'd to use DHCP.

Hi all, Just bought this Swift 3 laptop. No detailed product page to be found, and the manual is rather sparse (except for mostly Windows 10 info that we already have): "On Acer computers USB Type-C ports support up to USB 3.1 (SuperSpeed USB, 5 Gbps).Other USB or Thunderbolt devices with a USB Type-C connector are supported, but transfer speed may be reduced and certain functions will be disabled (such as Thunderbolt video support)." Nothing is said about USB Power Delivery. Or did I miss a reference manual somewhere? Is it fully compliant with the Power Delivery standard, so that I can charge either laptop or external devices when connecting a proper USB 3.1 Type-C HUB with Power Delivery function? (that itself is connected to a power source) If no PD-support:I'm in desparate need of charging at remote locations. With other laptops I have had great success with 19V 6A car chargers, but the Swift 3 has a charger tip of 3mm (hence model name..?), and among several multi-chargers with more than 50 different insertible tips, I cannot find this particular 3mm version! Suggestions?Acer original car charger somewhere? Thanks. Best,OlavOslo, Norway

Answer:Does the USB-C port of SF314-51-56Y4 support USB P...

..Anyone with any Acer model that supports Power Delivery?I mean, from articles I have found about the USB3.1 and USB-C standards, it looks like also supporting PD is entirely up to the vendor. The section "USB Type-C information" saying "Delivers up to 3 A at 5 V DC for USB charging", is the only point where the manual is referring to any direction of USB charging. Sad that the marketing department didn't want to be clear about this. But, has anyone actually tried charging an Acer laptop using USB-C?Not sure if testing will void warranty. So I'd better conclude that the Swift 3 SF314-51-56Y4 does not support USB PD, ref http://www.usb.org/developers/powerdelivery/.

Answer:Best 8-10 port L3 Switch with VLAN support.

HP V1910. Basically a re-branded 3Com, but it will do what you want.

Also IMHO if you don't need routing you could go with a Layer 2 switch capable of VLANs like a Procurve V1810G or a Powerconnect 2816 where you can separate your traffic, you just can't route the VLANs without another device, which depending on what you need, you may not even need to route over VLANs.

I tried to connect my HP Compaq LE1911 monitor to my HP EliteBook 820 G3 via Display Port to VGA port, but it's not working. I tried connecting the monitor via purely VGA port in the laptop, it works fine, so I am guess it's the display port driver not supporting Windows 10. I have read the thread below, tried install sp73303.exe but doesn't work. please help.

Answer:Display Port to VGA driver support in Windows 10

Connect the HP Compaq LE1911 to your notebook only with a VGA to VGA cable.  That is how it was meant to be connected. I cannot imagine why you would do otherwise. Don't expect to see a high resolution image on an analog LCD display. It is not an option. If you want a high rez digital image on a display, then replace your LCD analog display with a display that has a DVI input and connect it.

Neither the training page nor the parts page for the 2009 Precision T3500 list a Port Multiplier. This tells me that Dell never actually tested one in this model. Hopefully another owner can post their findings.

Hi all,I have an ideapad Y430 278182U and a old TV which has S-video in, Composite video In, Component Video in.  Unfortunately, Ideapad doesn't have an S-video port. However, it does have the VGA port and intel 4500 graphics chipset. I'd like to know if it supports TV out using the VGA port?Additionally is it possible to get a HDMI to Component cable or HDMI to Composite cable? Awaiting a possible solution to teh dilemma at hand.Regards,Amit.

Answer:Does Ideapad Y430 278182U support TV-out through VGA port?

You will need a VGA to TV converter like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260439159370 They make all different kinds of converters so you will have to do your own research to find the features and pricepoint that works for you.

I've been trying to install windows 7 to an external hard drive because one of my computers is effed. It's a 1 TB external hard drive that I've done the following to: Format NTFS, mark partition as active in disk management, created a bootable sector via command prompt and updated mbr, and tried using Universal USB-Instaler. This is the error I get every time I select the external hard drive to install to:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port.

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

Please let me know if you have found a solution to this, thanks.

Answer:Setup does not support USB or IEEE 1394 Port

I do not believe Windows 7 can be installed to a USB hard drive.

Well, this took me a little while to figure out. I could understand why I could receive Yahoo! mail in Outlook 2007, but not send it. After lots of conversations, I learned that Cox only supports port 25 for outgoing email, and Yahoo! doesn't accept port 25.

Any solution to this?

Thanks

Answer:Qosmio X300-14P - Does it support RAID on eSATA port?

hi phoelling,
you can get further informations on [http://www.intel.com], search for "inte matrix storage device driver".

as far as i know this chipset supports raid "0+1"
how about the readme which comes with this driver?

try this:
- opening storage manager
- klick (right) on the device
- choose create volume

if your external drive has a ready built raid
the OS wont see the seperate drives because the raidfunktion of your external drive shows only one drive to the OS...

please read the manual of your external raid device to check what options you have...

I tried the usual "fixes", such as uninstalling/reinstalling the USB controllers/device drivers.
In desperation, I tried a repair install of W10 Pro.

The printer in question is a brand new Ricoh SP-C250DN, which operated perfectly when I first plugged it in and selected USB for the initial installation of the drivers. However, after I tested the wireless functionality thru my router, I couldn't use the printer on USB anymore.
I was seeing "Copy 1" of the printer when I tried to get it installed for USB again. In an attempt to rid the pc of all things Ricoh so that I could reinstall and hopefully get it working on USB again, I removed both original and "Copy 1" of the Ricoh printer. That didn't get 'er done, so I deleted Ricoh reg entries -- the only Ricoh product that has ever been on this pc is this printer, so I felt safe in deleting these (I did not delete entries which contained non-Ricoh data).
I've done plenty of work in Windows registries over the decades, with few adverse incidents, but this time I obviously slipped up. I discovered the USB Printer Support is AWOL in Device Manager (yes, I set View to Show hidden devices) and USB001 Virtual Port is AWOL from the Add Printer port list.

Ok, so the reg is/was apparently FUBAR where USB is concerned, which is why I tried the repair install.

Answer:USB Printer Support and USB001 Virtual Port are missing

You do not need USB with that printer, nor is there a need to use it for USB, even if you do not want it that way. The plus of having it on the network as a Wifi shared printer is that you can place it in a central location and then use either a tablet, Android OS or iOS phone to scan and save to a network share or print from a network share.

It is capable of being connected to your network through Wifi or Ethernet. From there the computers and devices will pick the printer up and be able to use it. If you installed the software that came with the printer and chose to have it connect via Wifi, you will not see any USB connection if still connected to a computer, since it is going to default after setup to Wifi.

The manual on the disc explains all of this, including the pdf on Ricoh's website.

Once we got our Laser, it went in the Dining Room, since it is a central location. We do so much scanning in stuff and faxing or emailing with the app for our Laser, that hardly are we needing to grab a laptop and use it to send something to the printer.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS 15" touch screen laptop. The laptop was plugged in, and when I unplugged it, the round plastic center of the charging port came out.

Nelson Timken

Answer:XPS 15 Charging port plastic center broken, no support

You may have to pay extra for North American-based support and those come with the business-class Dell PCs. Not to say that your experience will be any different, but at least their English would be more understandable.
The XPS are considered consumer-class.

I was wondering if anyone here had succesfully charged+USB hosted with the yoga book via a USB y cable or a charge and data hub? I'm an artist and I recently invested in a windows Yoga Book. I often have a USB drive, keyboard and mouse connected to the device via a powered USB hub. This is great, except for the fact I can't charge my yoga book while I do this- so the time I can spend working on projects that require both the keyboard and realpen is limited (and I like to really hunker down for many hours at a time. If I'm not using it it charges up to full in about 2 hours, which isn't bad in the great scheme but it's not always great).I know some devices support simultanious USB charging and USB hosting, but it's unclear to me if the yoga book's USB hardware in particular does. I checked the specification sheet for the intel xHCI chipset, but I'm not an engineer and the 500 pages didn't convey much to my tiny brain at all, which is why I'm asking here.

I believe your T410s has a 34mm ExpressCard slot.  Most likely it's occupied by the multicard reader.  You will need to replace that with an eSATA card that supports SATA port multiplier.  At least that is my understanding of the Intel onboard sata controllers.

Hi,

I am searching for a solution at a networking problem:

Like a router, where there is a DHCP server on the router,
I need a 12, 16 or 24 port switch that is able to assign specific, preconfigured IP address to each individual port.(ie 192.168.0.1 to port 1 via DHCP protocol, 192.168.0.2 to port2, so if I plug a DHCP client device into port 1, it will get 192.168.0.1 as its address, plug the same device to port2 gets 192.168.0.2)

The switch also needs to be SNMP capable for monitoring, so it's probably going to be a managed switch.

Anyone know of a solution? please let me know.

Answer:Switch question: per-port DHCP question

I don't think you are going to get exactly what you are looking for as I don't think it's possible. The only thing I can think of is to create a VLAN for each port. Then use an IP helper for each VLAN.

I have tested Microsoft ATA and it works perfectly well with Port Mirroring but for that we may have to choose Enterprise Plus.
Question:
With our existing infrastructure, will the Microsoft ATA solution work if I configure both the DC and the Gateway in (Promiscuous Port Group)?
If yes is it supported by Microsoft?
I would appreciate the answer if someone has implemented the solution first hand or knows about a reliable article/source.
For simplicity please assume the unknowns, thank you for your help.

Is it possible to output to dual displays?

Answer:Portege R930-1D0 + High speed port replicator II - dual monitor support

By ?dual display? do you mean the internal + external display or do you mean two external monitors?
The Hi speed port replicator II supports the RGB port as well as the display port and HDMI port but both (display port and HDMI) cannot be used simultaneously.

You can use the internal notebook?s HDMI port and for example one of the Hi speed port replicator II ports to connect another external monitor.

Hi!
Can anyone help me to find out, which CPU the Satellite M50-252 (partnummer : PSM53E-02N00ZED) supports? It has a Celeron 1.4GHz 400MHz now.. but i need to upgrade!! It`s to slow! :)

Thanks! mvh qzan.

Answer:Satellite M50-252 - CPU support

Hi

I goggled around for some different Satellite M50 models because mostly the notebook series supports different CPUs. I have found these compatible CPUs:
??Intel Pentium-M Dothan 1.6GHz, 1.73GHz, 1.86GHz, 2.0GHz, 2.13GHz
??Intel Celeron-M Dothan 1.3GHz, 1.4GHz, and 1.5GHz

I think this CPUs could be compatible but you know; a CPU with more performance produce more warmness and sometimes this could lead to the automatically shut downs.
This shut downs happens because of the overheating.

So I think nobody will give you a proper answer if the notebook will run stable or not.
Therefore you sould be careful.

Hi

Such information is not known to me and mostly if you want to buy an drive for you notebook you should firstly call the Toshiba authorized service provider for information about compatible drives.

There is also another possibility to find out what settings the notebook supports.
I use Nero burning rom and this application supports an diagnostic function. It listed the whole info about the installed CD/DVD drive.
After such diagnostic procedure you should know more details about the installed drive and you should buy the drive which supports the same specification?

Hi, I have a P50-C-17J (no CD, 128SSD, 1TB 5400rpm HD)

Hello.

I'm using linux on my Toshiba Satellite L40-15B and there is no sound from audio cds.
I talked with ALSA community and all the software settings seems to be ok. So I here I want to wonder about the hardware.

On this Toshiba - is cdrom connected to the audio card?
Does it play audio cds under Windows? Does it play games that use audio cd functionality, say Total Annihilation, under Windows? (unfortunately can't check myself as Windows is long gone from my laptop)

Would be glad to have some responce, so I can know for sure whether it's a problem with the Linux ALSA drivers or with the laptop hardware.

Andrei.

Of course you can listen to the CDs on this L40 Satellite.
You can use it as a CD player.

But you have to boot into the Windows OS. Without running OS you will be not able to listen to the audio CDs

I would like to find info on the following issues:

1. Are there any bios- and or driver updates?
2. What is the max RAM that I can install (supported by the motherboard) ?
3. Is the L100-181 the same as the -129 or _131?
4. I would like to by a new battery, can I use a battery from a L100-129 ?
5. Why can't I find any support/info on my type of laptop ?

-see manual, also downloadable and depends on your operatinsystem also.

-as far as i know these numbers after the "-" reflecting the different equipment eg. hdd, ram and so on

Q4. I would like to by a new battery, can I use a battery from a L100-129 ?
-i would say yes - because it's the same modell, better ask a toshiba service partner.

Q5. Why can't I find any support/info on my type of laptop ?
-tried to download the user manual? there are helpful informations provided.

Q6. Is there a manual to clean the keyboard an laptop internals (dust removal)?
-as far as i know: nope, but using a brush without! solvents or water would do a nice job.

Hi there,

I bought a Satellite A200-10W and replaced the 1GB RAM with 2x2 GB RAM cards but i can only see a 3.07 GB of RAM. Does it mean that the processor architecture is 32 bit and it won't operate a 64 bit OS or what???

Please advise.

Thanks

Hi,

I want to upgrade the RAM of this laptop - Toshiba Satellite P755-12F.
I'm looking at 2x4gb Corsair/Kingston 1600Mhz and 1866Mhz.
Can anyone tell me for sure if the laptop supports 1866Mhz or at least 1600Mhz RAM?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite P755-12F - RAM Mhz support

I'm puzzled with your post. If you go to any of the major memory suppliers you can let the site scan your computer and make memory recommendations or you can look at the machine specification on toshiba.eu. I don't believe using faster memory will do anything for the machines speed - Toshiba give no access to clock speeds, multipliers and ram timings in their bios

Hi there

just purchased a new mother baord part number k000051420 to replace the board I have in my laptop and was wondering wot CPU's does this motherboard support it is a pga479m socket?

Answer:Satellite P - CPU support of new mainboard

Hi buddy,

What Satellite P notebook you have exactly?

I don?t know which CPUs are supported from the new mainboard. CPU upgrade is official not supported from Toshiba?

What you can do is checking the specifcations of other notebook models? For example if you have Satellite P300 with model number PSP123, check the specifications of other PSP123 models. Normally these CPUs you can use as well.

Hi there,

I've buy a Satellite L850-1Z1, then when i go to the support section, the site tell me that my product is not recognized...
Is there a model with the same spec than L850-1Z1 ?
Or does the support will recognize it soon ?
Thanks for your answers

Answer:No support for Satellite L850-1Z1

It can happen that some model is not recognized automatically but if you visit download section under http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp you can search for your model manually. It is just important that you choose your notebook model as PSKG8E model.

My laptop: Satellite NB10-A-11W
I bought a SAMSUNG 850 EVO (MZ-75E500) in order to speed up things. I copied/cloned the boot partition to the SSD (connected by USB) using to different programs. But then when I exchange the hard disc by the SSD and switch the computer on, immediatel I get the message:
checking media presence - no media present.
There is no way to boot, I can't even access BIOS by F2 with the SSD inside, with the hard disc it's easy?nd posible.
What is the problem? Is the system not compatible with the SSD? I don't know what more I can try.

Answer:SSD-support for my Satellite NB10-A-11W

HELP! I now have an even much worse problem. I tried again to boot from the SSD (I had copied hidden partitions, too), it didn't boot. Then I thought I might try to change the BIOS setting, I changed UEFI to the other option, it resulted even worse, just a bling _.
When I then put in the hard disc again, it didn't boot any more. It said PXE-M07 Exiting PXE ROM PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable.
I cannot see any problem with the connection of the disc, it fits well as always before.
I don't know what to do, I even CANNOT access any more the BIOS to make changes. No effect with ESC or F2. I'm lost.
Can anyone please help me?

Hy!

I have my toshiba p100-257 for more than 3 years now and i'm very happy with it.
I have two more newer laptops also, but caring only this one on every trip, kinda attach to my heart.
Well, it comes with 60 gigs HD, and it is time to move up.

I was triing to find information about HD capabilities and compatibilities, search thru net, dozens of web sites...still, this information nowhere apeares.
I want to buy and install WD 500 GB SATA II 2.5 inch hard drive, and before purchase I want to be sure that this machine can support this hard drive.

Any info is useful and welcome.

Thank you!

Answer:Re: Satellite P100-257 - What is max possible HDD support

Hi

From my knowledge the SATA HDD controller is not limited.
This means that there is no HDD size limitation and in such case it should be possible to use 500GB SATA HDD.
SATA is also down compatible. This means you can use a SATA II HDD in connection with SATA I HDD controller.

Answer:Cannot open Help and Support on Satellite L30

Hi

How about usage of ?system restore tool??
If the option help & support has worked few days ago so I think it should be able to roll back the OS to the early point.
I think this procedure should help.

But try to use this path in the run window:
%Windir%\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe

Hi
Model Satellite L850-Y3110(PSKFWG-00F00C)
my laptop specs are i73630QM with 8gb DDR3 Ramand Raedon HD7670M 2Gb graphics in 64 bit Windows 10 pro. When i purchased it was installed with Win8.1 afterwards i manuallyt upgraded it to Win10.Everything was fine graphics is also ok.

From toshiba's website i found that my laptop is not up-gradable to Windows10. Anyway i have upgraded and there is no going back.
So my drivers are now auto updated with windows.

But to find drivers from my OEM's website i checked all toshiba's websites. But most of them does not recognize my model except this website.
In this site also i am not getting any drivers of Windows8.1.Only drivers of Windows 7 is available.

1)I would like to know where i can get these drivers.(Win 8.1)?

Please check with my model number before replying because i have spent many days for this.Again toshiba-india website provides only bios update drivers for my version.
2)So i would like to know whether other L850 model's drivers are compatible with my lap?

Now i will come to actual problem.
From intel's website i am aware that my laptop is having inbuilt graphics intel HD4000.
3)So where is it?
But nowhere in my laptop i can see this display adaptor.I looked into bios also to see whether it is disabled in bios.
And i found that there is no tab in bios regarding display/graphics.

I tried all latest drivers from intel for HD4000 and drivers from AMD for Redon7670M.

Does anyone know if there's any news about SSDs in Toshiba laptops?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a Satellite R830-182 and I've recently bought an OCZ Agility 4 and it is not detected by BIOS.

I've tried all the tricks in the book including BIOS upgrade and switching between AHCI/IDE.

Searching online, I find posts about this particular issue.
The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen to not support SSDs other than their own brand. Is this true? And if so, is this still the case?

Someone suggested that [pressing Pause|https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=244444&#244444] before entering BIOS would help.
Has anyone tried this?
Not sure that this is a feasible long-term solution.

Any other thoughts/advice on this?

Answer:Satellite R830-182 and SSD support

>Searching online, I find posts about this particular issue.
>The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen to not support SSDs other than their own brand. Is this true? And if so, is this still the case?

I?ve got Toshiba notebook and I was able to upgrade the notebook with an 250GB SSD drive from another manufacturer. Also a friend of mine with Toshiba Satellite notebook use another brand name SSD 2.5? drive.

But fact is that compatibility issues between the different devices (not always SSD drives but other PCI modules as well) can happen and its nothing unusual in the wide computer world.

As far as I know some models R830 series are equipped with a "Solid State Drive (SSD)" instead of a hard disk drive. 2.5"SATA SSD type 256GB/512GB and 1.8"SATA SSD type 128GB should be compatible?.
But its also a matter of SSD drive firmware. In many cases SSD drive firmware might be not BIOS supported.
In such case the SSD drive would not be recognized properly.

Satellite A210-1AO (Psaele)

Answer:Satellite A210-1AO - max RAM support

According notebook specification your machine can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM.
Originally it has 2 x 1GB inside.

I recommend you to buy 100% compatible Ram modules and Kingston is one of the best options for you. Compatible 2GB RAM for your Satellite has part number KTT667D2/2G.

This old machine was designed for Vista but works perfectly with Windows 7. It is not supported for Win8/Win8.1 so, in my opinion, there is no sense to install it.

Drivers, tools and utilities for supported operating systems you can find and download from Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

I am wondering, why did you not make support for L20-183 for vista because I own that model and inserted 2048MB of ram and 100GB HDD!

Simply it is not fair at all because i got more powerful model now then L30.
Should I change my laptop for some other non-Toshiba one or buy a new one?

P.S. I'm not planing to play with my money..

Hello everybody,

I'm wondering if the L30-106 is LBA48 compatible, I bought it equipped with a 60 Gb hard drive and I'm planning to change it to a 500Go hard drive.

I'm using Ubuntu and can't just figure out how to know if LBA48 is supported in this model. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite L30-106 and LBA48 support

Has your L30 SATA HDD? I?m not 100% sure about that but if the HDD has SATA interface you can upgrade it with 200 or 300 GB without any problems.

You can upgrade HDD but I don?t know if this should be 500GB.

Answer:Satellite Pro L20 PCMCIA, does it support WOL?

I am not 100% sure about it but I don't think so. I believe all settings in BIOS are for notebook ports only and have no influence on added hardware like PCMCIA cards.

Does anyone know how I determine if my new Toshiba Satellite L750-03C044 supports the enhanced speed of USB 3.0?

It has three USB sockets - two on the right of the case and one on the left by itself. All three sockets are coloured black, not blue as I might possibly expect for USB 3.0 support.

All three sockets are marked with the USB trident logo. The one on the left is additionally marked with a lighting bolt log.

Can someone please advise. Many thanks.

Answer:Satellite L750 - Support for USB 3.0

Hello

I?ve checked specification and there is written that your notebook has 3 x Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports so I?m afraid there is no support for USB 3.0.

Hello guys,

Just wanted to know, whether 64 bit Windows XP can be installed on my U300-10M laptop.
It seems the CPU (T7300) supports x64, since CPU-Z shows that EM64T instructions are supported.
But somewhere else I read that bios should also support 64 bit OS.
So I wonder if anyone has installed 64 bit OS on U300 and any tricks and tips I must be aware of.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Does Satellite U300-10M support 64 bit OS?

You can install every OS which you want? There is no problem with the OS installation.
You could only have problem with the Win XP 64bit drivers.

Fact is that XP64bit is not so popular like the Win XP 32bit or Vista and therefore you will not find XP 64bit drivers on the Toshiba page.

Maybe you could collect the drivers from somewhere else? good luck
