Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

Question: Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

I have a Port?g? Z10t-A computer running Windows 8.1 that's touchpad stops working intermittently after coming out of standby.

I have tried upgrading to the latest firmware "HID\VID_0930&PID_0807&REV_3;00&MI_01&Col01" as suggested in a previous post but this has made no difference.

Any ideas on how this can be resolved?

Preferred Solution: Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I think you are speaking about this firmware update
[Firmware update for Keybord Docker for Portege Z10t fixes connection problems|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3A03IV0000R01.htm]

This has improved the keyboard performance switching between the tablet and notebook mode.

In your case I would recommend installing the newest version of Synaptics driver.

Hi,

I have a Prot?g? Z10A and the touchpad and keyboard intermittiently stops working after sleep mode. I cannot wake it up or restart without re-booting.

I have done the update to the firmware keyboard docker as advised in a thread on January 2014 but this has not helped the problem.
This computer is only 2 weeks old.

I have been to download site and updated all drivers and updates.
The computer works perfectly except for this problem.

When the tablet is asleep the white led is blinking, and when it is all works ok, but if the light for some reason is not blinking but permanently lit then it will not restart and I have to re-boot the tablet.

I have disabled the hibernation mode in options but still no help.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer:Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

Hi

I?m wondering if the option (within the BIOS) called Wake-Up on Keyboard is enabled.
To restore the operation of the computer from sleep mode, press the power button or any key on the keyboard dock for a short amount of time. But the keyboard keys can only be used if the mentioned option is enabled.

Note: when the notebook is in Sleep Mode, the power indicator will blink white. If the power indicator does not blink white, the notebook isn?t set to sleep mode!

Good Afternoon,

We have had this fault a couple of times on differing units. The Ultrabook appears to be in sleep mode (flashing white power light) and no amount of power button pushing, keyboard clicking or mouse moving brings it out of this state.

Holding down power for 5 seconds does not switch the UltraBook off.

I have to wait till next day when the battery completely drains before starting the unit.

Is there any other way to power the unit off perhaps?

Answer:Portege Z10t-A remains in Sleep Mode

Actually this time around leaving the unit over the weekend hasn't helped. So I can't get into it at all.

Holding the power button in for 5 or 30 seconds achieves nothing. The Power button certianly gets a response becuase the screen will turn off and on.

I cases like these I would normall remove the battery but on this model its not very accessible.

Anyone know another secret way to force the tablet to power off?

Portege Z10t-A PT132A-00F00T

My tablet keeps going to sleep after about 60 seconds of non-interaction.
I can be watching youtube, reading, listening to music...etc and after approx. 60 seconds of me not touching it the display will turn off and any audio/video stop.
As soon as I touch the screen it wakes up again.

I have been into the power options and edited them for both power and battery.
I have set dim/sleep to never for both options as a test but still it does it.

Have I missed a place where this is set elsewhere?
Very annoying

Thanks

Answer:Portege Z10t-A PT132A goes to sleep after 60sec of non-interaction

Hi

Does it happen in notebook mode when Toshiba keyboard Dock is docked or in tablet mode only?
Does it happen if Ac adaptor is connected or only when AC adaptor is removed?

The computer will automatically go into sleep mode according to the setting sin the power options. To access this click
Desktop -> desktop assist -> control panel -> system and security options -> power options
(or Win key + X -> power options)

Here you should find the option called ?Display automatic power OFF?
This feature automatically cuts off power to the display when there is no keyboard input for a specific time

You may also check the ?Hybrid Sleep? function which appears in Power Options too.

Furthermore I recommend you checking the Intel Display Power Saving technology settings.
This feature is enabled by factory default and in controls the power consumption b< optimizing the picture contrast and internal LCD. This can be used if notebook is running in battery mode and using the internal LCD display only.

To access this feature you have to click right on the desktop and click graphic properties
Then click Power -> select on battery from the drop down menu in power source.
Then clear the display power saving technology check box and lick OK.

While using the Tablet in laptop mode, every so often the keyboard seems to disconnect itself, so nothing works.

Only way I can find to enable it again is to disconnect the tablet then plug it back in again.

Is there any settings or updates etc for this?

cheers

I have a new, month-old ThinkPad T430, and whenever it comes out of sleep mode the keyboard, and sometimes the touchpad, does not work.  All of the other power management tools seem to work fine, but sleep causes the input devices to just quit. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. There was one occasion where starting it up from a hard boot rendered the keyboard inoperable as well. Is this a driver issue or do I have a defective keyboard? It seems to work just fine on all other occasions.

Answer:T430 Keyboard and Touchpad Stops working after Sleep

Hi, vbertini

This sounds more driver than hardware related. Though there was the instance of the keyboard not working after cold boot that one time, it has worked fine on all other occasions, save it waking up from sleep, correct? The fact that everything works fine more often than not leads me to believe it's the drivers.

The latest mouse and keyboard driver for your system is version 16.2.19.2 and can be found here. I would also recommending making sure your BIOS is up to date, as an outdated BIOS can be responsible for a myriad of issues. The latest BIOS for your system is 2.11 and can be found here.

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes

Adam

Hello everyone, I just purchased a new Dell Inspirion laptop about a week ago. Right out of the box it connected to wifi with no problems. I noticed the second day however that sometimes after it was in sleepmode(lid shut) it sometimes cannot connect to my router until I shut my computer down completely and restart. It can see the router, but it is unable to connect completely. I don't think it is the wifi card because the drivers are up to date and I can connect to an unsecured router in the area with no problems. It almost always works after a complete shutdown.

If anyone has some info or things to try it would be very appreciated.

Specs: Dell Inspirion
Windows 7 64 bit

Answer:Wifi stops working after sleep mode or hibernate.

Go into Device Manager. Go to your wireless adapter, properties, Power Management, unclick "Allow the computer to..."

I have few Toshiba laptops, satellite, and now netbook100.

All of them share one problem, touchpad scroll bar:
It will stop working after exit full screen mode in youtube.
Here is how to reproduce the incident:

1. using any mainstream browser, start playing a youtube video, click full screen button at the bottom right corner of the video.
2. click on the [cross] to exit the full screen mode. (next to full screen button.)
3. check if you scroll bar still functioning.
4. a reboot will restore the function.

Currently, I?m on vista, I believe in XP you will have the same problem.
Searching in google (touchpad scroll bar stops full screen youtube) will return more people share the same question but no answer.

Environments: win xp all, win vista all.
Windows all most updated driver, touch pad driver up to date.

This is not a major tech problem but for a netbook, this is very annoying.
If anyone have this problem or answers, please share it here.

Thank you in advance.
regards.

Hi, I put my laptop to sleep mode (AC Adapter on) for 7 hours, then both trackpoint and touchpad stopped working. OS is Windows 10 pro. I updated the UltraNav, the auto-detect system update webpage shows that I am using a T470 (Type 20HD, 20HE) Laptop (ThinkPad), and "No drivers are required to update for your machine". And also I load the setup to default from BIOS (both trackpoint and touchpad are "ON") None of the current solutions I can find on the forum works, so please help me !

This device was originally delivered with windows 8 and has been successfully migraged through windows 8.1 to the latest windows 10 updated.

The latest update was applied and boot successfully for several weeks.

A BCD error was reported and the device failed to boot.

I have tried various repairs using toshiba tools none of which resolved the issue. Then used windows CLI command bootrec, sfc etc all to no avail. DSKCHK only found minor errors.

A microsoft windows 10 USB repair has been loaded but it cannot restore the system.

Hi,

As we know it is very easy to change the RAM memory or SSD drive in the Portege R700-930 series.
It is a little more complicated for the Z-series.

I just wanted to know if this is at all possible for the new Z10t series??
The standard items of 4G and 128G are a little to small for my taste.

Thanks,
/Anders

Answer:Change SSD or RAM in Portege Z10t??

Hi

I think the upgrade on Portege Z10T is a different story and not comparable with the other series like Portege R700.

The Portege Z10T is an mix of tablet / netbook device and mSATA SSD drive is placed within the tablet which is not user upgradable.

If 128GB are not enough for you, you can insert and use additional Memory media in the SD Card slot

Answer:Portege Z10T keep restarting

I cannot tell you for sure why this BSOD error appears but according to Microsoft knowledgebase article the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION issue occurs when one or more drivers' DPC routines exceed the DPC Watchdog's time-out period.

The dump details mention the igdkmd64.sys file.
As far as I know the gdkmd64.sys could be the Intel Graphics driver.

Probably the Intel driver cause this issue?.
It could be also possible that the CPU which supports the graphic unit cause this issue?.

Sorry but the all hardware parts must be checked to provide detailed diagnosis.

Wait a moment. If you have bought notebook with preinstalled Win8 you don't need product key. All you must do is to create recovery media (DVD or USB) and in the future you can use this media to reinstall original recovery image.
When you have bought your notebook you have also bought one valid licence for this recovery image.

Hi,

Tablet mode is fine.

I try reset, reboot, I have installed the patch, nothing, battery is charging through the keyboard.
Thank's for support.

Answer:Portege Z10T-A - keyboard not responding

Hi

Hmm… usually the firmware update (patch) should help to resolve such issue.
I would another thread about the same theme and the firmware update was the key.
http://forums.computers.toshiba-euro...threadID=73148

I also found this Toshiba doc in the knowledge base about the Firmware update for Keybord Docker for Portege Z10t fixes connection problems
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3A03IV0000R01.htm

But it seems that you already installed the patch but this did not help you.
Therefore I think there is a problem with the keyboard connection.

You should get in contact with Toshiba authorized service in your country in order to check the keyboard.

Anyone know the max ram this device can hold?
How to add the ram (I have good PC component knowledge but have never popped the hood on a tablet)?

Answer:Adding RAM to the Portege Z10T-A WT310

Hi

From my knowledge the RAM upgrade is not possible because of the WT310 was configured with 2GB or 4GB onboard memory.
So this memory is soldered and part of the system board.

I got a Toshiba Portege z10t laptop/tablet for xmas.

i haven't used it much as i wasn't expecting this and have had work on my old laptop not quite ready to move over.

I have realised in the past 3 days that i would charge the tablet fully, turn it on, battery stated fully charged, i unplug it and it tells me, 85% charged. 2 min later, it says 3% remaining.

That being said, I am now working 100 min after unplugging, and it still says 3% remaining. (???)
I did the same last night and it finally dies after....4 hrs or so? (the power indicator is lit white, the battery indicator is ?off or very dim if on. not yellow or flashing)

Anyone have experience with this?

I tried to look for info. people have mentioned conditioning the battery which i have worked on over the past few days- plug it in, charge fully, then unplug and use until fully discharged.

Can anyone advise? or direct me?

Thank you!
Kelley

Answer:New Portege Z10T is not holding the charge

Hi

It looks like a battery problem.
I?m not 100% sure but I think that battery replacement would solve the charging issue.

You wrote that the unit isn?t old and therefore the warranty is still valid.
You should get in contact with local Toshiba ASP. The authorised service provider would replace the battery free of charge.

Hi there.

I'm having an issue connecting the Portege Z10t to a projector via VGA.
Its fine via HDMI.

The resolution changes on the screen to something like a 4:3 ratio.
It then comes up on the projector, stays for 10 seconds or so then bombs out.
I've tried multiple resolutions but no joy. We're running windows 8.1

I've tried a few different z10t and different projectors. Other laptops running windows 8.1 are fine, it only seems to be with the z10t.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Answer:Connecting Portege Z10t to projector using VGA

First of all it would be interesting to know what resolution you?ve chosen for internal and external display.
The Portege Z10T series was equipped with different displays but as far as I know the max supported resolution for all displays should be: 1920 x 1080 px

If you use the extended desktop, both displays (internal + projector) could use different resolution but if you use the option ?clone displays? then the resolution has to be the same on internal as well as on external display (projector).

Hi,

Please excuse my bad english,

I just bought the Z10t A 13V PT 141, with W8.1. This computer works very well on W8 but I want to install W10. I've ever tried 3 times but each time, the cursor (with the touchpad or a mouse) is lagging, each movement is jerky and don't works very well. I tried to see if it was a driver problem, and downloaded all the new Toshiba drivers for W10.

I've made the same with Intel drivers, but for the graphics drivers there is an error message : "a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel driver update utiliy is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer."

When I'm with W8, drivers are correctly updated..

So I think the cursor problem is due to this driver problem (I hope but I'm not sure). What's the solution ? AM I alone with this problem ?

Thanks,

Thomas

Afternoon

We have recently Purchased a z10t , and after installing the update to the Sierra Aircard software , we are unable to detect any sim.

Unfortuantly we did not test the sim card before the software.

Has anyone else had this issue, It was purchased from Telstra and we are using a 4G sim from a Telstra Sierra Wirless card to test.

Thank you

Answer:Portege Z10t - Failing to recogise the inserted sim

> Unfortuantly we did not test the sim card before the software.
If I understand you right you are on testing so what you can do now is to install original recovery image using HDD recovery option or simply roll back OS to earlier time before you have installed this additional software and test SIM slot functionality. I?m sure it will work because original recovery image contains tested drivers.

This third part software can change communication settings and affect SIM slot functionality. Toshiba doesn't support third part software so I don't think Toshiba can help you with this.

Hi

My laptop is about 12 months old. Ive had a few charging issues in the past where I was on a/c but it would not recharge the battery. This normally resolved itself by running the battery flat and then recharging (sometimes the battery wouldn't even need to run fat before it would start recharging again).

However as off today, the laptop will only work when connected to a/c power.. The moment I pull he plug the laptop turns off immediately. The battery says it has 43% but is unable to charge. It will not turn on unless connected to a/c power.

I have rebooted, installed all windows updates, removed ACPI control method battery and rebooted and all to no avail. I cant update the bios as the device doesn't have a cd player and nor can I remove the battery from the device.

In the drives I only have MS AC adapter and MS ACPI (I believe there is meant to be a third device driver -the battery- but I ant see it there).

Can anyone help?

The service station shows you only the driver updates available on Toshiba driver page.
In case you don?t get any notifications about updates, this means that no new drivers area available.

The Microsoft updates are totally different and are related to your Window system.
If such updates are available you should install it.

After the upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 did you download the install the Toshiba drivers and software as mentioned in the installation instruction which is available on the Toshiba EU driver page?

Its very important to install and update the Toshiba utilities to get good working Win 8.1 system.

About 6 months ago I bought a Z10T-A-13Q for my mother. It has frequent issues of not turning on for hours.

Recently the screen stopped turning on. It was sent for repair and came back with a fix of "harness replaced".

It came on a few times so I made the long trip to return it to my mother. The screen fault is still re-occurring occasionally needing to be left for hours until it turns on. Then turning off and not coming back on for another few hours.

This is really hard to fix as I am far from my mother and Toshiba have opted for YOKO assistant my Mother can't navigate.

Has anyone got a faulty product replaced not patched up or a simple telephone number an elderly person can call?

Before the upgrade i was able to use the sim card to connect to VPN but since the upgrade the sim card does not get detected. I am using an application called "AirCard Watcher".

I have tried the latest driver "EM7305"

Answer:Portege Z10t-A - SIM Card isn't detected after Win 8.1 upgrade

Visit the Toshiba EU driver page
http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Here choose:
Notebook
Portege
Portege Z series
Portege Z10T-A
All
Windows 8.1 64bit
LTE driver

Now you should see two LTE drivers (5.2.1401.4045 and 3.5.1308.3911)
I recommend you to test both drivers?.

Before you would start the driver installation, the old current driver should be removed.

Since I updated last night to Win8.1, my Portege Z10t 4G i5 model no longer has an aircard/4G anymore.

I've tried re-installing original drivers/software and the updated software, to no avail.
Numerous restarts and checking for updates too.

Help please.

If it helps this is the Telstra 4G version.

Answer:Portege Z10T has 'lost' 4g hardware since Win 8.1 update

Hi

I did not find an LTE (4G) driver on the Toshiba Australian page but I found one on the Toshiba EU driver page.
[Toshiba LTE Driver Windows 8.1 - 64 Bit|http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=4&selSeries=362&selProduct=7902&selSh ortMod=null&language=13&selOS=46&selType=all&yearu pload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=a llMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=al l&selectedLanguage=13&type=all&page=1&ID=88595&OSI D=46&driverLanguage=42]

The notebooks should be the same therefore in my opinion the driver should work too.
Try it out and please give me a feedback.

Hi ,

when i check part number in link : http://www.toshibamea.com/en/Compatibility-Matrix-8-1?SerialNo=pt131v-00h005ar

told me not compatible with win 8.1 .

but at under page write it is compatible with win 8.1 .

Why result is different?

Other my question :
I can not my Windows 8 serial number and i can only view last 5 digit number .
If my HDD clear and i need full new install winodws 8, where i can find my Windows 8.1 serial number ?

Thank you .

Answer:Portege Z10T-A140: Can I upgrade to Win 8.1 and where to find serial key

> Why result is different?

Your notebook is an Portege Z10T-A140 PT131V-00H005AR
Of course it?s Windows 8.1 upgradable and supported.
On the Windows 8.1 update ? supported models page you can find the Portege Z10T PT131V.

> Other my question :
>I can not my Windows 8 serial number and i can only view last 5 digit number .
>If my HDD clear and i need full new install windows 8, where i can find my Windows 8.1 serial number ?

I recommend reading the user manual. There you can find info about Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.
The recovery media creator would allow you to create an Recovery disk. Such disk install the Toshiba image on the notebook again. The serial key is not necessary because the Windows 8 will be activated automatically using Toshiba image.

Just bought the Portege 3 days back and found one pixel on my LED Full HD display of my ultrabook STAY's always white. Will i get warraty or replacment. I paid my fortune for this notebook.

Thanks & Regards,

Answer:Portege Z10T-A203 - One pixel is always white on my FHD Screen

As far as I know this issue is not warranty case. More about this you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9502LZ0000R02.htm

What you can try is to contact your local dealer and ask for replacement. Do this as soon as possible.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Portege z10t.

I am trying to use the stylus in Photoshop. I have 2 problems. Firstly - when i use the stylus the circle that indicates where the stylus is going to be used is below the point of the stylus. Not only is it causing incorrect actions, but i can't see it properly to guide it. Is there a way to re-calibrate? I have tried re-calibrating from the control panel.

Secondly, in Photoshop, I can use my finger to select items in the menus and tools, but not to draw or select anything on the page. I have the same problem with any other stylus I use (I want to use a finer tipped one, but would be happy to use the one with the laptop if it was calibrated correctly.)

Can anyone help me?

Thanks
Bryonie

Just got my Z10T and decided to upgrade to Win10. Problem is the Win10 upgrade hung and now I can't fix Win10.

Nor can I restore Win 8.1 from SSD recovery partition or from USB recovery image I made before trying Win10 upgrade.

So, I am hoping that someone can throw me a lifeline, otherwise I have a very expensive ultrabook that I can't use at all.

Cheers

Does anyone have any documentation on the command-lines for tinstallwb.exe, or know the switch to grab these?

I need to do some logging during the install.

We're evaluation the Z10t, and want to installing the Toshiba Value Added Package via SCCM during our deployment task sequence. I've doing the same thing for the Z930 successfully.

I'm using the latest version (1.6.0035.6406) of the TVAP.

After extracting the contents of tc30573300f.exe, the command I'm using is "tinstallwb.exe -s -sms". While that works within my vbscript wrapper, it's failing during the actual deployment. If I could start logging, I could see what's going wrong.

I've tried just installing \TVAP\TOSHIBA Value Added Package.msi, but even though that installs succesfully, those flashcards never appear when pressing Fn keys.

Any ideas?

Answer:Portege Z10T - command-lines documentation for tinstallwb.exe (TVAP)

Unfortunately, such documentation isn?t available.
I also did not find any tips to install the VAP from the command line

But the package contains some other exe files like setup.exe or install.exe
Did you test the installation using these files?

This is an error explanation - with a solution (which I do not like) and perhaps one of you know a better one:

This laptop was bought with Windows 8 in 2015 and then upgraded to 10 (automatically) last year.
It worked fine until yesterday, where there was a big new Windows 10 update.

When it restarted, I got a blue screen with the information one should rebuild the BCD.
I organised a Windows 10 DVD + an external DVD player and started bootrec /rebuildbcd

It worked fine until I confirmed the found system 1 - confirmed that with Y(es)
and got the message like: One device connected to the system isnt present any more
Sourcing the internet I found an information that this message can be caused by a defect UEFI
CMOS setting and one can set the CMOS of the laptop to default values.

I did that and then started again bootrec /rebuildbcd

This worked now fine - no more error message - and the system started fine again

... until .... I had the next automatic update from MS for Windows 10 ... I had to do the
same procedure again.

... now, for the wise guys of MS and Toshiba - do I have to live with that for the rest
of the time of this laptop - or is there a better solution

Thanks in advance
falther

Hello,

I bought my R500 with windows vista business & do the downgrade to windows xp sp3 corporate (Russian).
I install windows XP 2 times & both times on my notebook don't work reboot, the notebook is show background screen and don't reboot. The shutdown is working correctly.

What is the problem there?

And the second question:
My notebook is not turn on the display after sleep mode.
For example, when I see the avi file and I do notebook to sleep mode, after I turn it on, video is continue I hear the sound but the screen is black.

What I do wrong?

I have experience to install all Windows products inc. servers.

Thanks.

Answer:Portege R500 2 questions: reboot & sleep mode

Hay

As far as I know this notebook is supported for WXP but it is important to use WXP SP2 for installation. Which one do you use?

Please don't be mad on me but your second question is somehow ?strange? for me. I mean it is logic that movie should be stopped or press pause before you switch notebook into standby mode. I do this and after waking up I can continue watching the movie.
Have you already tested this? Do you watch movie in full screen mode?

I have a a Portege R930. I am running a program that take 25-30% of the CPU for many hours. If I put the laptop into sleep mode, does the computation get suspended? If not, and it is still running, how does the CPU get cooled when the fan is turned off in sleep mode? Can the CPU overheat?

I *don't* want my many-hour program run to be interrupted by an overheating sensor. If I know that the program is suspended in sleep mode, I won't fear entering sleep mode. If not, then I will keep the laptop awake, and if I need to transport the laptop, I'll put it into hibernation.

Answer:Can CPU overheat if Portege R930 enters sleep mode?

The answer seems to be that the CPU can't over heat because programs are suspended: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Port%C3...p/689961#M4014

Good day!

I've been experiencing the following problem on my Portege R830-10R for a long time.

Quite frequently, when it recovers after sleep mode it loses ability to recognize connected USB devices and built-in 3G modem does not work as well.

After some time, like 10-15 minutes of working (or never), the problem becomes solved by itself, but normally it is not the case.

If I try to send the laptop to hibernate or sleep mode again, while this problem is active, lets say, it does not hibernate and hangs on a half way with a black screen - so I have to shut it down manually and then start again.

Normally, the only way to resolve the problem is to restart it, but the issue comes back after next sleep mode.

Has anyone had something like that? Any solution available?

Answer:Portege R830-10R: No USB connection after recovery from sleep mode

Hi

> Quite frequently, when it recovers after sleep mode it loses ability to recognize connected USB devices and built-in 3G modem does not work as well.

Did you notice this behavior from first day of purchase?

Are only special USB devices affected like USB flash memory stick or USB HDD or are
other devices like USB mouse or USB keyboard affected too?

Hi all,

just bought a new Portege M800 running Vista.

When the system goes into sleepmode or hibernation, there isn't any posisbility to wake the system up. I have to remove the battery to start up again.

Downloaded and installed the latest BIOS, did all Vista updates. Also checked the BIOS, wake on LAN and wake on keyboard are enabled
Anyone else with this problem?

Meanwhile, I disabled hiernation and sleepmode in Vista, but this shouldn't be the way to do it.

Any advice much appreciated
Cheers
Dave

Answer:Portege M800 - Sleep mode and wake up fails

Hello

I?m not a Portege M800 owner but normally I would suggest that you should try to update the BIOS and install all Windows updates but you have already dont it.

What you can do now? If you have installed your own Windows version try it with ?factory settings?. Maybe it has something to do with the software or so? I?m not sure.

If it doesn?t work I think you will need professional help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and exchange faulty hardware parts if it?s necessary.
Here you can search for the nearest ASP:

Hi

Special Toshiba software is responsible for the usage of the tablet pen on the M200.
I your case it seems like a software malfunction. In my opinion you should try to remove this software from the OS and after rebooting try to install it again.
I think this procedure should solve this issue.

Hi,

near old 1 week i purchaed a Z10T-A140 ultrabook .
Then i active Toshiba Health Monitor and can view HDD status.

But for battery show it is poor !
Why my battery show poor ?

Thank you .

Answer:Portege Z10T-A140: Toshiba Health Monitor shows poor battery

Hi

This is nothing unusual for new batteries.
You should know that new batteries need to be calibrated firstly to reach the best performance.

Calibrating means that the battery has to be charged fully and then discharged until it?s fully empty. This procedure should be repeated several times in the row. After that you can check the battery status provided by health monitor again

Hello,

I have recently boght a Toshiba Portege R100 without any CDs. Windows XP Home installation worked OK but the touch pad is not.

I have installed extra drivers from Toshiba. Now I am able to adjust all kind of things concerning the touch pad but still it is not working. I was also running Knoppix 5.2 from July 2007. Same problem with Linux.

Did I get a faulty notebook? How can I find out, please?

Answer:Touchpad is not working on Portege R100

Have you tested the touchpad with Windows XP?
Did you connected an external USB mouse and do you have the same issue?

Normally the touchpad should work without drivers they are a part of the OS.
You can disable/enable it with FN+F9.
I?m not sure but you can also disable/enable the touchpad in BIOS.

It could be that the touchpad is faulty but ask an ASP for help. They can check the notebook and exchange necessary parts.

Hi all,

I still have the problem, that my new Portege R500 with Vista SP1 is not reacting any more when reading / writing to a SD Card. This happens only, when the SD Card is plugged and I wake up the R500 from sleep. All read or writes to the SD card will lock the PC and the R500 must be switched off hard. I've tried this with different SD cards with always the same result. The R500 was freshly installed from the recovery DVD and even a installation from a Microsoft Anytime SP1 DVD shows the exact same behavior. All drivers are up-to-date, Bios 1.60. I also tried to remove the entry in the device manager and reinstalled it.

I found at the Microsoft site a patch, which is describing exactly this problem: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936825|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936825]. But this patch cannot be installed in Vista SP1. Microsoft states, that this is already included in the Vista SP1. But it's still not working.

Any other idea? Or do I have to live with it?

Best regards,
Stefan

Answer:SD Card Reader Read Problem after Sleep Mode with Portege R500 SP1

Hello Stefan

I can imagine that this issue is pretty annoying for you but other way you can disconnect SD card when you do not need it anymore. I cannot imagine it must be inserted permanently.

I can imagine there is some conflict between Microsoft patches and Toshiba driver but such ?bugs? should be fixed by some Toshiba updates or Microsoft hotfixes. What to say? I am afraid at the moment you must live with it.

By the way: post please exact notebook model number and give some info about SD card (capacity). Maybe someone with the same notebook model and identical card can test it and post the results.

Hi,

All is well using an external keyboard & wireless mouse.

Does anyone have any suggestions or do I now own a "low power desktop!!"

How about new OS installation? Did you test if the keyboard and touchpad will work after new recovering?

1.I have tried opening in both "safemode" and "safemode with networking", found its working fine. I ran "msconfig" in safemode and unchecked some unwanted applications(nothing related to windows process) and tried again opening in normal mode.... Not worked

I have had my Dell Inspiron 7559 for about a week now, it runs windows 10. Over the past few days the trackpad has started to not work. At first the single tap (left click) didn't work. But the left click button worked fine and the two tap (right click) worked fine too. I restarted it, single tap works again.
This happened a couple more times and I decided to investigate. There was no touchpad on my mouse settings, only a HID-compliant mouse and a PS/2 Compatible Mouse. I don't have any mice. I did a driver update for both of the above and ELAN input device showed up. I did a driver update for it and it worked ok for a couple of hours and it said it is working properly. However if stopped working again and I went back to the settings and whilst windows 10 settings said the trackpad was on, the ELAN tab on the mouse properties said that the Elan smart-pad was not enabled it and restarted. When I went back to the same settings after the restart, it was not enabled again. So I enabled it. Two hours later, the trackpad was back to not registering single taps. Enabling and disabling the ELAN trackpad appears to do nothing.
The next day, single tap stopped working and then all the buttons and taps stopped working but scroll/zoom etc still worked. I restarted and it worked again. Later on it had the issue that the trackpad would only select things on the start bar. Once you opened something you couldn't click at all. Again I restarted and it "fixed"... Read more

I bought a brand new laptop from Dell.  The touchpad kept crashing.  After several months of calling tech support, having the laptop serviced remotely, and sending it in twice for repairs, all without success, Dell sent me a new computer.  After only three days, the same thing is now happening with the new one.
These were both brand new computers with the exact same issue.  Is Dell simply incapable of making a decent computer any more?  I used to love Dell; this was my fifth Dell computer, but maybe it's time to look elsewhere.

I have an Acer Aspire One D250 with a synaptics touchpad bought on March 20th which hasn't given me any problems till 3 days ago.

Friday, when I turned the computer on, the touchpad wasn't working. I tried Fn+F7 and nothing. The usual synaptics animated icon wasn't beside the clock. I went to the control panel>mouse>device settings and no device was listed there, while all the options were greyed out. I went to system>device manager and no "Mouse and other pointing devices" was listed. I went to Acer.pt (I'm from portugal) and downloaded the driver and installed it. The instalation went without problems and when I restarted the computer, the touchpad was still not working and nothing was listed on the device manager.

I called the Acer support line and the told me to restore the OS. I spent friday doing backups and I reinstalled Windows XP from Acer eRecovery Management. After all that, the touchpad wasn't working still.

Saturday was spent going to the store where I bought the netbook and trying to find a solution. Just as when I was going to give the netbook to warranty, a guy turned the computer on and the touchpad was magically working again.

I went home, all happy and warm and fuzzy inside.

Today, when I was copying my backups to the netbook again, I hit "cancel", and the icon next to the clock disappered and the touchpad stoped working again. Went to check, and nothing was listed on the device manager or on contro... Read more

Answer:Touchpad suddenly stops working

If the Acer Factory Restore failed to fix it and it intermittently comes and goes its likely a hardware issue. I'd be contacting Acer again and sending the unit in for warranty service.

I recently bought a S10-3t ideapad direct from lenovo. (Moved abroad though so can't get warranty cover on it).Very frustrating - the touchpad regularly stops working. It will work for a few hours then stop working completely for hours/days on end.I've tried updating the touchpad drivers, system restore, lenovo restore (back to factory settings).

Answer:S10-3t touchpad regularly stops working

Next time it quits working try a few taps around the touchpad and see if it starts working.  If it does it might be  a loose connection inside the case.

The touchpad behaves erratically (mouse pointer goes wild when I put my finger in the touchpad, either in rest or in movement) after a few hours of gaming (if the keyboard lights are off) or after half an hour or so of general use (if the keyboard lights are on). It seems to me that there is some sort of heat-induced short contact going on. Does anybody know how to fix this? I've got a friend to bring me this notebook from the US, but unfortunately this model isn't supported by Lenovo here in Brazil. Now I may need to find a fix for it myself (or resort to workarounds). A lesson learned for my next purchase: be more careful with so-called "worldwide" warranties.

The tap to click function on my touch pad will stop working randomly and start dragging the item around instead. Will then have to fully click down on the touch pad to navigate between tabs etc. The scroll function also stops at random, but after restart it all returns to normal until the next time it stops working. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Hey guys.

I have never had this problem before so I don't know what to do.

While on my laptop my touchpad will randomly stop moving. I can still zoom in and out by pinching, I can right click and left click, but I cannot move the pointer . As soon as I plug in my mouse, the touchpad works again. I can unplug the mouse and it will still work for a few minutes then the problem will happen again.

I'm running windows 7 64bit,

I also have not installed anything recently.

Answer:Touchpad randomly stops working.

See if reinstalling the touchpad driver from the laptop's manufacturer's website helps.

Hello. My month old E560 has been great until recently, when the touchpad has decided to play up on me.What happens after a while of use, the touchpad will begin not responding to my gestures, finger movements, sliding, etc. It will sporadically work for maybe a fraction of a second after, but 99% of the time when I frantically draw circles with my finger it will not respond. This proves it is NOT the touchpad completely disabling/turning off, etc. There are no issues with the trackpoint or any hardware buttons. Even right clicking with the touchpad does what it's supposed to.  This is on the most up to date version of ALP Lenovo Ultranav drivers for the e560 from the Lenovo website. I have found that uninstalling this driver (and thus using Windows' default touchpad driver) prevents Lenovo-specific multitouch features such as twofinger scrolling, and also slightly changes what the middleclick does, but at least prevents the issue of an unresponsive touchpad which is the most important feature. Usually, a quick restart solves this issue. But after the computers shut down and started up again after a while of being off, the issue will occur again. I am running Windows 10 home 64 bit with, as said, the most recent Lenovo-issued ALPS Ultranav driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The touchpad stops working randomly when the computer is woken back from sleep and it has to be rebooted to get it going agin. An externally connected mouse will work fine during that time. Is this due to a possibly faulty touchpad??

Answer:The touchpad on my V3-331 stops working randomly.

Hi Jithin1,

It is possible to be a defective touchpad. I would suggestion a few things you can try on your own before looking into service options.

Update or reinstall touchpad drivers
Refresh the PC to see if that takes care of any issues.
Reload the PC entirely if possible

If you continue having issues, contact your local Acer support team so that they can help setup services to take care of the touchpad issues you're having.

The touchpad on my X1 Carbon laptop (3443CTO) has started working very sporadically. It seems that it will work after reboot, but then after a while it stops working. I suspect that this is a driver and/or bios issue, because this started happening about the same time I upgraded the bios to the latest and also upgraded to Windows 10. Has anyone else experienced this issue? AFAIK, all of my Lenovo and other drivers are up-to-date, as the Lenovo Companion tools does not list any pending updates. Any ideas?

Dear all, since almost 2 years I am pretty happy with my L440.But lately, I often have problems with the touchpad becaue it suddenly stops working,no mouse moving, no touchpad-based clicking. The trackpointer still works and also the hardware buttons for left and right clicking are still working. However, depending on the task i prefer either trackpad or touchpad. I already changed the sensitivity for palm checking but no effect.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi, On my Travelmate B115 (that I've barely used at all), the touchpad randomly stops working. If I deactivate it and activate it (Fn+F7 twice) it starts working again, but I have to do that once every two minutes, and it's really annoying. Sometimes it also is very slow or imprecise in its movements, and it seems sometimes that it clicks without my wanting it to (it could be that I'm grazing the pad without noticing sometimes, but I'm really writing "in the air" with only my fingers touching the computer's keys now to avoid it, and it still happens).I am extremely frustrated since this laptop is brand new. Can anyone help me?Elisabeth

Now that the video flickering issue has been resolved, I am now frequently encountering a very frustrating problem with my new XPS 13 (9343).   If I stop using the touchpad for a few minutes (not sure how many, sometimes it's 1 or 2, sometimes its 30), then mouse pointer disappears completely and the touchpad does not respond.  I can click, swipe, tap, etc. but there is no pointer.  When it happens I am forced to use the touch screen to shut down the machine and restart it so I can get the touchpad and pointer to work again.  Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Answer:XPS 13 (9343) Touchpad stops working

I have the same problem. I am using Windows 10 Pro. I have tried every touchpad driver version I could find with no luck. I am currently using this driver: Cypress Semiconductor, Inc, dated 6/24/2015, version 2.5.1.72.
I often find it happening when playing a youtube video or something like that, but that's probably just because I don't use the trackpad for a few minutes while watching the video.
When it happens the mouse pointer is either completely gone, or it is "frozen" in some random position on the screen and the trackpad is not moving it. It happens once or twice a day for me, and I then restart the PC to fix - annoying.
I feel 99% certain that it is a driver issue - and that no driver has been created for the Cypress Trackpad in the PC that actually works in Windows 10. If anybody know of a driver that actually works I'd love to get the details.

I bought a brand new laptop from Dell.  The touchpad kept crashing (it won't respond to taps and sometimes stops scrolling, but the right and left click continue to work).  After several months of calling tech support, having the laptop serviced remotely, and sending it in twice for repairs, all without success, Dell sent me a new computer.  After only four days, the same thing is now happening with the new one.  Now Dell says that means the problem is on my end.
I haven't downloaded any new programs, everything is up-to-date, and when I check the touchpad settings, it shows everything as being enabled.  The touchpad stops working randomly, on different websites and in different programs.  I never had this problem on any previous Dell laptops.  I can't think what I might be doing to cause this issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just bought Lenovo notebook with Windows 10 Home.

On my old VISTA laptop, when I put my computer in sleep mode and then woke it up, I could always view my connected MP3 player and its files.

When I do the same with my new notebook, I have to unplug and re-plug the usb connector in order to view the mp3 files.

I tried fixing by going into device manager, power management for the USB hubs, and unchecking the "allow this computer to turn off..." setting.

I alsodisabled this:
I appreciate help, thanks

Answer:Putting computer in sleep mode stops viewing my connected mp3 player

If you disable USB Selective Suspending and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power', your MP3 shouldn't have any problems. Perhaps double check witch device you unchecked.

Hi!

I purchased this laptop early September and I am super happy with it, but there's two minor things that annoy me and I haven't been able to fix yet:

1) When coming out of sleep or standby, it never automatically re-connects to the wireless it's on, I have to manually do this every time. The windows Wireless service is running fine, so that's not it, but what is?

2) Sometimes the touchpad will stop working randomly and I have to either use a mouse or reboot to fix it. I have reinstalled the touchpad drivers. Turning the touchpad off/on using the function keys does not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:Satellite Z30-A-1D0: No Wlan after sleep mode / touchpad issue

I can confirm both problems.
Update the WLAN Driver...seems fixed now.
(AC3160 - Driver: 17.1.0.19)

Touchpad and trackpointer sometimes won't work yes. I than just restart... I still hope on some overhaul of the ALPS mouse stuff.... (maybe with Win 10 this problems all will be gone - as the manufacturers (pretty sure) will release new (hopefully fixed) drivers.)

Answer:U410 touchpad Driver stops working

Most likely you're experiencing this issue when starting Microsoft Office (I did too)Here's how to fix it 1.Download the 16.3.9.0 driver from herehttp://www.station-drivers.com/page/Synaptics.htm2.uninstall your current synaptics driver and reboot when it asks you to (your touchpad will still work, just without gestures and it will move slower than before)3.Install the new driver and restart if it asks you to4.Go to the mouse properties and the synaptics tab and adjust the touchpad to your liking(here will be 2 devices listed, clicking the settings of one of them brings up manufacturer information, the other will bring up configuration)5.No more nonworking driver just so you know, resuming from sleep will cause the synaptics driver icon to appear in your taskbar even if you have disabled it from appearing there, but it will go away automaticallyand also, the 4-finger flick option in the configuration settings will not work, but everything else shouldmessage me if you need assistance

I have an X201 and noticed tha tthe toucpad stops working at seemingly random intervals.  After tracking down the culprit to the Synaptic Touchpad Enhancements process, I did a search and found other people having the issue in the Thinkpad W series forum.  Instead of reposting it here, you can find my reply with an easy workaround to get it working again over in this thread. http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/W150-Touchpad-stops-working-after-a-certain-tim... Somebody thinks the problem only happens with Firefox, which I happen to use as well, so the problem could be between Firefox and the Synaptics process. Lenovo:  Please fix this.  Thank you.

Answer:Touchpad stops working on X201 (and other models)

I'm having the same exact issue!!!  My trackpad works great after a reboot, but always eventually goes to crap and stops responding (or responds haywire) to my inputs...  I called Lenovo yesterday, and their "senior" tech guys had never even heard of the issue!?!  They told me I needed to send the unit in for repair...  Argh... Hopefully Lenovo will realize this is a "real" issue and address it SOONER than later!!! Thanks for posting your work-around...  Yeah, it kills the multitouch, but at least the trackpad starts responding again... Let's cross our fingers that this gets RESOLVED...  What a pain in the rear problem for such an expensive PC!!!

My new Lenovo W510 is running Windows 7 (x64) and some issues with my Touchpad.  The problem is my Touchpad stops working after a time. TrackPoint is still working fine, but not the touchpad. If I check the settings via "Fn + F8" I can see that "Enable Touchpad and Track Point" is activated. I switched back and forth but it doesn't seem to work. Only a reboot helps..

I own 2x Equium L40 laptops.
Both have recently started experiencing the same issue with their touchpads.

For some reason, whenever the laptops are horizontal, the touchpads don't work.
However, once the laptop is tilted, the touchpad works fine.
I can then return the laptop to horizontal, where it works, until the next time it decides to stop working!

I would have thought this was an insolated issue, but for the fact that it is happening on BOTH my laptops!
The laptops were both bought in Aug 07, and are therefore, unfortunately, both out of warranty.

Anybody experienced the same, or have any advice to offer?

Answer:Touchpad stops working when Equium L40 has been moved

Hello Nik

Your story sounds really unbelievable. I have never heard about something like this. Tilting notebook is for me not so good idea. What do you think about it? :)

Sorry but I don't know if somebody here can offer some explanation. The best thing you can do is to show it to the service. Maybe is there some contact problem. The strangest thing is that you have noticed the same issue on both notebooks.

Have you noticed this from the first second when the notebook is on or later after some time?

Hi,

In the beginning of this week I bought Toshiba satellite Z30-A-1D0.

My touchpad seemed fine but once in a while the cursor stops working for about 1 minute. I can use the left and right button of the touchpad but I just can't move the cursor.

First I thought that I accidentally had locked the touchpad so I pressed Fn+F9 and the light turned on meaning that the touchpad was locked, then I pressed it again and the cursor was still not moving, it only starts almost a minute after... I've tried to be at alert to what I'm doing in the touchpad but it happens when i'm just moving the cursor.

This happens about 4 times a day and the fisrt time it happened was on the day I bought. And I never used a USB mouse in this computer.

Thanks for your atention to my problem and hope you can help me.

Answer:Touchpad stops working for a moment on my Satellite Z30-A-1D0

It is not easy to say why this happen.
If possible try to use external mouse. It will be interesting to know if there is some general problem with mouse or just with internal touchpad.
