Tecra A4 does not boot anymore

Question: Tecra A4 does not boot anymore

Hi people

I have a tecra A4 and started experiencing start-up problems after shutdown. the laptop would take 15 minutes to allow me to restart it if i was starting it straight after i shut it down. when i press the button to start it up it would take 2-3 seconds then just shut down with the hard-drive making a little 'clunking' noise as it did it.

I ran a recovery disk which just screwed it up all together, it just simply would not start at all after that! (just kept shutting off after 2-3 seconds). Sooooo I went out and bought a new HD. I put the hard-drive in and started installing windows again. it got to the part of putting the files into the installation directory. i think it got to 100% but then shut off again. now it wont start-up again!!! It does the 2-3 second thing :-( The difference is that there isn't the 'clunking' noise anymore. just a quiet shut-off as though its losing power somehow before it accesses the hard-drive

Any idea what the problem is here?

Cheers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Tecra A4 does not boot anymore

Hi

It is really not easy to say what is wrong there. my first thought was overheating. Tecra A4 is pretty old notebook model and maybe is shuts down because of overheating.

Can you enter BIOS settings? If yes please enter BIOS settings and leave it. Please let me know if notebook switches off again.

Hello,

when connecting the notebook to ac, the battery LED light is yellow.
After several hours this LED switches off. However charging status of battery still showing 0 %...
Now I would like to find out what is wrong here, is it the battery pack or the charger?
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance and best regards,
Peter

Answer:Tecra A7 - Accu does not load anymore

>Now I would like to find out what is wrong here, is it the battery pack or the charger?
Are you able to use the notebook connected to the AC adaptor?
If yes, then the AC adaptor is OK and I would say that your battery is faulty.
In such case you will need to replace the battery.

Dear users,

I hope the question hasn't been posted before.

The touch and launch symbol is no longer shown in the task-bar at the bottom of the screen. FN + F9 also doesn't work to switch off the touchpad.
When checking Toshiba via programmes, utility, the touchpad utility is no longer there (perhaps cc-cleaner has erased it).
How can I reinstall this feature or switch off my touchpad? I can't find it in the control panel either.

Many thanks in advance

Michael

Answer:Tecra A10-13A - Can't switch off the touchpad anymore

Hello

I agree with you: Probably the touchpad driver was erased?

But it?s no problem because you can download it on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

After installation of touchpad driver the symbol in taskbar should appear again and you should be able to switch if off again.

I recently started to experience problems recognizing my Canon IP4500 printer.

Reinstalling printer driver worked once, not anymore. When I checked Device Manger I could not see any lpt ports, only a number of "Toshiba BT Ports".
Could this maybe indicate a hardware problem?

Chris

Answer:Tecra M4 - Doesn't recognize my printer anymore

Hi!

I have checked the specifications of the Canon Pixma IP4500 and it does only have an USB port so I think you don?t need any LPT ports in device manager. I think you can forget this.

In your case I would try to reinstall the printer again. Remove the old printer software/driver, restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the system and restart again. Now download the newest drivers on the Canon website. Follow the screen instructions!! Few days ago I installed a Canon printer too and you should only connect the printer if the drivers are installed. So connect the printer if the installation says you should connect it to the computer!

Good luck!

Bye

The display settings cannot be set any more to 1400 x 1050 with 32-bit (but only with 16-bit) colors. The monitor is detected as "standard monitor" and the graphic adapter is shown as "Vgasave". Some applications don't run and sometimes the background colors are corrupted.

After installing the display driver from display-20080318150127.zip nothing changes. Even after BIOS update the display hardware detection and / or the driver functions don't work.

No idea, what might have changed the behaviour. Anyhow, I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi

Is your graphic card recognized properly in device manager or listed with yellow exclamation mark?

Before you install a new display driver you should remove the old version first. Restart the notebook, use CCleaner and then install the latest version from Toshiba page.

I wanted to set up Ubuntu on my computer, and followed the instructions in the first answer to this thread: dual boot - How to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7/8 - Ask Ubuntu

As instructed, I created a logical partition using EaseUS software. I did this on my H:/ drive, a hard disk drive (whereas Windows 7 was installed on C:, and SSD).

After a mandatory reboot for the new partition changes, I did not immediately go to install Ubuntu, although I had Live USB to do so. Instead, if I remember properly, I booted into Windows to make sure everything was OK, but only to find out that some "Windows could not boot properly", giving me the option to 'Launch Startup Repair' - which I did, but to no avail. All it did was reported that some 2 system files were missing or corrupt.

I then installed Ubuntu on a third drive because I still needed it to perform some benchmarking. I did this using the 'install alongside windows 7' option.
But now that I don't need Ubuntu anymore, all I am interested in is getting back to Windows, while keeping all the files and programs intact.

How should I go about fixing this? Delete the logical partition on the other drive? I also have that Windows installation CD, and I'm thinking its repair options could be useful - but not having a whole lot of self-confidence, I don't know what steps exactly to take to preserve my files.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
yesterday I wanted to install Windows 10 Enterprise on my T1650 test machine. Before doing so, I successfully updated the BIOS to A20. After updating BIOS, I've enabled UEFI + Secure Mode, saved the changes and... couldn't start the PC anymore. When turning the PC on, monitor immediately goes into power saving mode, there is obviously no signal coming from the PC. Removed the Nvidia Quadro NVS 300 and plugged the monitor into board's VGA slot, no success. Tried to clear the CMOS (battery out, jumpers), nothing helped.
Any ideas?

Tecra S1 Model PT831E-107EQ-GR

Problems started a month ago. It randomly didn't booted. After some power off/on tries it finally booted and worked properly. Because it happened more often I've bought a new hard drive (Toshiba 40 GB). I've had Acronis True Image and planned to make a disk clone to the new drive. The problem is that a notebook now doesn't boot anymore so I cannot boot it from A CD nor hard drive. It stops at "In Touch..." logo with "Press [F12] for the boot device selection menu" text and doesn't react any key. I tried to boot with no CD, no hard drive - the same. I also connected internal HD using ATA-To-USB adapter - the same. Does it mean that's not a disk problem but motherboard or other components? Is it possible to enter BIOS before boot selection screen?

Regards,
Jacek

Answer:Tecra S1 doesn't boot and hangs at (boot) splash screen

Hello Jacek

Try to enter BIOS settings using ESC at start up.
The whole issue is strange and I don't believe someone here can offer exact diagnostic. The fact is you can use several bootable devices but if HDD or CD/DVD doesn?t work there is something wrong with motherboard. Maybe is HDD or CD/DVD controller defective.

Has the laptop worked OK before? If so, what (if anything) has changed since the last time you used it?

Try booting in Safe mode and see if you get to the Desktop. Need to identify if the problem is hardware or software related.

Lots of ways to progress from here and I'm sure others can advise. My initial thought it is some sort of graphics problem - either hardware or driver problem.

Hello,

I am studying for my A+ certification and I wanted to try to install Recovery Console on my PC. I set the CMOS boot order to first boot from the CD ROM drive. I put my XP Professional installation CD in and restarted the computer. Once the XP setup program started running it looked like it was copying files, which scared me because I thought it would ask me before it did anything. So then eventually it got to a menu screen and I decided to press F3 and quit the setup, without installing Recovery Console. I went back into CMOS and reset the boot order to boot from the hard disk drive again, then saved and exited. However now it won't let me boot into Windows anymore, but rather prompts me to insert a bootable floppy or CD-ROM, which is obviously not what I want. I think I may have erased or copied over Boot.ini, and possibly other files. I want to go back to my previous settings before any of this occurred, and I need to keep all of my previous data, settings, programs, etc... in other words I don't want anything erased or changed at all. I'm hoping somebody can provide me step-by-step instructions on how to do this. I would greatly appreciate any help. I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3. I built the PC myself, it is not a store bought PC.

Hi there,

Another challenge for the experts ! Without going into too much detail, by moving hard disks around etc. I managed to screw up my 8.1 boot settings.
Partition-wise I should be ok as the 350mb "system" partition is still there, containing all necessary files.
System will however go straight for automatic repair and tell me it was not able to repair the problem.
bootrec /scanos returns 0. Bcd file seems fine when I take it through bcdedit. Renaming the bcd file and trying to rebuild one doesn't work either as it says there's no installation found.

I did not touch any partitions nor files btw, everything is still there and in tact as far as I know.

Thx in advance !

Answer:8.1 boot settings screwed, cannot boot anymore

i recently rebuilt this into a new case and it had been working fine. Mainly using the win 7 os but more recently using the win 10 os more and more. The way it has been working is that win7 is the default boot and I have to hit the delete key on startup to select win10 to boot from.

today I was on win 10 but needed to reboot to 7. Upon doing so I hit this message:

Secure Boot Violation The system found unauthorized changes on the firmware, operating system or UEFI drivers.

It then gave me the option to boot to win10 as it is the next boot option on the list. Win 10 is now giving me the blue screen "memory management error" although I have been able to get into win10 after some more rebooting.

I ran SFC scanner and it told me that there were some problems that it cannot fix.

Everything is unplugged apart from mouse, keyboard hdmi to screen and ethernet cable. Unplugging the win10 drive from the mobo and switching the win7 drive to another port has not helped.

Has my ssd failed? has win 10 done an update that has caused this problem? It did update today, in fact the first error message I got was after win10 shut down, and when I booted into it again it installed some updates before launching.
thanks for any help!

Answer:dual boot win7/win10 wont boot to win7 anymore +BSOD "memory managemen

Hi @vinvanda.

As far as I can understand from your post that you had W7 and W10 as dual boot in two different disks.

From the uploaded data we could not find a hint of the BSOD that you said (it is not recorded anywhere, probably because it happened during boot); but some other statements are supported by the data.

Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4.

Now, it is STATUS_NOT_SAME_DEVICE; reads as .... "The destination file of a rename request is located on a different device than the source of the rename request".

Now I am making a guess. It it is wrong, please rectify and state the proper situation.
You name the Windows 7 Disk as "system" and the Windows 10 disk as "Win 10". You also said that windows 7 is the default boot. So I am guessing that the boot files are in the the windows 7 disk.

The board is set as Legacy BIOS. So Fast Boot is not possible here; and if Fast Startup is enabled, windows7 needs to disk check in every startup. It is desirable to keep fast startup disabled on a computer with W7.

Now Coming to the "Secure Boot Violation". Windows 7 does not support it at all. And, it is the Firmware Validation Process of UEFI; whereas your system is set to Legacy. I think here lies the issue.

BIOS Mode Legacy

Disable UEFI and Secure boot> Hopefully Windows 7 will boot back.

If it does not, remove the windows 10 disk... Read more

I cannot turn on my PC. When I turn on the power supply it does a repeating, fast, high pitched, but quiet beeping sound (similar to some bird chirping). The power button on my PC doesn't respond at all, even the fans won't start. I tried disconnecting pretty much everything from my motherboard and adding more and more things slowly to no avail. I also tried out a new PSU but the same thing happens. If I disconnect the 24 pin cable, only then do I get a different sound (a continous high pitched sound). Before this I accidently plugged in the old PSU's FDD cable into one of the F_USB slots. Could I have killed my mobo with that? If not what could be the problem? How can I sort out if it's a bad mobo or something else?

Hi everyone

I need some serious help here

The story is a little long
3 weeks ago, I had my computer working, and suddenly, it stopped booting windows, not even the logo show on screen, also no error code or anything. I couldn't enter diagnostic or safe mode (just bios). I had to format and reinstall windows 8 because any restore options worked.

Then a week ago, again it stopped booting, no error code, no anything, but this time, it bothered me that just 2 weeks before happened the same, so I started checking everything, so I took my Hard Drive, and put it in another computer, and it worked with no problem, windows booted, just not in my computer.

I started to look for solutions, and one was to use the command bootrec /scanos, and i got suprised that no windows installation was found. Eventually I had to speak with Microsoft tech, and they said it was my components because they were old, and they actually are (8 years), but I wasn't convinced that was it.

Before getting Windows 8 Pro, I had installed Windows 8 release preview, and it worked for months with no problem.

I thought that of course the fulll version would be heavier for my pc, so I installed Windows 7 again (had it installed for years before w8 release preview).

And now the bad part

after a couple of hours having the W7 installed, it won't boot either.

The same symptoms from W8, windows won't boot, not even the logo shows, although, with a little difference, now it shows a "Missing ... Read more

I just built a new computer about 2 months ago or so. It has run fine up until this point, It started with BSOD's but reinstalling windows fixed that and I have had 0 problems since.

This morning I turned on my computer, and all it showed was a black screen. no intiial beep before loading windows like it usually does. I restart the computer and this time i get the beep, but it just sits on the menu where it shows the stats of my computer hardware (also the menu where I enter bios). It freezes at this point and theres nothing I can do, I try entering bios, nothing. Restart computer, exact same problem. I gave it an hour or so and went back, and now i'm at the origional problem. I turn it on and it just sits there, without loading video, without beeping, and without the possibilty to get into bios.

It was running perfectly fine the night before, I didnt install anything new, or mess with any hardware. Any ideas?

seems I always seem to figure it out after posting here, and its always something stupid.

Somehow my USB external hard drive had fried either at that moment, or somehow magically last night. I tried to see if there was some sort of hardware problem and booted up the PC with just the PSU plugged in. I heard the beep. Excited i plugged in the monitor, windows was loading. after i plugged everything in I see the error "Windows was unable to recognize USB device" I restart my computer and it freezes on BIOS. Unplug the external HD, unfrozen. Going to leave the post up for anyone that just happens to come across a similar problem, but for me...issue solved.

So I had some problems with AVG antivirus, when booting my pc got stuck on booting the avg processes, so I removed them, then it got stuck on some other processes (like fvevol.sys or so) so I removed them too. After removing all processes that got stuck when booting, I couldn't boot at all! Every time I booted it automatically came in the boot manager, saying it couldn't restore my pc. :(

How can I fix this? Please note that there's nothing wrong with my HDD, it's about one week old, all new. I also did not actually remove the processes, I transfered them to an USB stick.

And BTW, I still have acces to my HDD and bios

So, my box was acting a little fragile lately - Stuff falling off my desk onto it would make it blue screen and load back up.
Naturally I opened it up and looked inside and found one of my RAM was a bit loose - It was in there most  the way, but out just enough so that the prong that holds it in wasn't in the slot for it. I pushed it in and secured it properly, screwed the cover back on, plugged everything in.

and now it won't get passed the DELL boot up screen. F2/F12 do nothing, and the loading bar freezes about a half way in. I'm running vista(naturally), all my peripherials are USB, but I don't think its the keyboard just not working that's causing the problem. I'm tried booting it with everything plugged in, and nothing plugged in.

any and all help would be appreciated.

Well, I now have an unbootable computer. I don't know what's wrong. When it tries to boot, it gets a BSOD, and it goes by too fast for me to possibly read it. I heard you can change this option by getting into a special menu with F8, but F8 doesn't do anything for me. I heave the option of loading Startup Repair, too, but its SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW! There's no way this can be right! (Maybe I need to put the harddrive on an eternal reader and grab the dumps.)

Prior to this, the OS was laggy. I was playing music with Winamp, and it k.....ept pausing. Prior to that, I had a mess where all the programs became unresponsive and I had to force a reboot. Now, this may be unrelated, but prior to all of this, I had not one but two harddrives start to fail. One of them did fail. Now, I'm being good as far as I know. I have a surge protector on this stuff. Is there a surge coming from within? Is it time for a new motherboard, and is that the only thing that will save me? Am I smarter than I look, or not?

I'm on a budget. I really don't want to have to replace everything if I can avoid it.

I'm running WIndows 7 on a Gigabyte H55M.

My Sat Pro M10 worked fine until yesterday. I removed the harddrive just to check Part number (as i need to install a larger drive and want to make sure I got it right)and then re-inserted it. Now it boots up as far as the XP Pro loading screen (black background) which disappears and then the screen goes blank. This is what normally happens during boot-up, except that there would be a cursor over the blank background for a few seconds until my desktop appears. Also, when it has stopped at this blank screen the harddrive light on the front of the laptop flashes regularly every few seconds. I desperately need some of the data on the hard-drive (and no, it is not all backed up) so I do not want to use the recovery CD which is just a ghost image (isn't it). The drive is formatted as NTFS. I mention this because when I tried to use the recovery disc to check disc integrity it gave an error message that said the NTFS logfile is not loaded. It will not respond to any of the F8 safemode-type options. I think I have messed up the booting up process somehow by removing the drive rather than physically breaking anything. it seems it can read the boot partition but no further. Can anyone suggest how to fix this, or worst comes to worst a way of retrieving the data from the disc?

Thanks and appreciation in advance,
Chris

Answer:Sat Pro M10 will not boot up anymore

Hi Chris

If the system runs stabile you can remove HDD so many times you want and it should have no any influence on anything. I have removed HDD from my Tecra very often and it still works well.

Back to your issue: if there is any possibility try to connect your HDD as external device to other notebook or desktop to see if you can see it and even back up all your important data.

All Toshiba notebooks, I suppose, since two years have NTFS and that is nothing unusual.

M previous boot was a Samsung 840 pro 256gb and it worked like a charm. I'm running the latest version of Win8.

* Ran out of space on my 840 Pro and purchased a 500gb Samsung 850 EVO which had plenty of space and I successfully migrated over to the new drive a couple weeks ago.

* I've been using Acronis 2015 for backups and an external 4tb WD drive for these backups.

* Today I went to backup the NEW boot drive and saw I had a very large backup for the old boot SSD. In Acronis you have to boot to their program straight out of BIOS to access and erase the old backups, which I did.

* NOW I can't boot to the new Samsung 500gb drive for some reason. I've gone into BIOS and changed boot order to the 500GB but I just get a blinking cursor and a black screen when I reboot.

* However, if I change the boot order in BIOS to the OLD SSD it boots fine AND recognizes the 500gb and all it's data! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give~

services off, but now it says: \windows\system32\config\system
cannot be found.
And we can't even boot off our systen repair disc unless we choose
to erase everything off the C-drive. I have a hirens boot CD, but cant get it to boot
from that.
When we turn it on and press a key it beeps, and we get the choice
of F1 or F2.
F8 wont boot to safe mode either.
Is there any way to get this to boot in safe mode or from a disc so we
can repair or get some data off?

Thx

Answer:can't boot anymore

The CD-ROM needs to configured in the BIOS boot order to be first in the list. It may already be so in your machine since your recovery disk would have to boot that way.

If you can do that, you can try creating a bootable CD with the recovery console on it per my suggestion in post 6 here:

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/454300-xp-error-driving-me-insane.html

The beep when you startup and the prompt for f1 or f2 may indicate a misconfigured BIOS -- you might look for an option to reload the BIOS/Setup defaults there, and see if that particular problem is resolved. It is different from the missing or damaged "system" hive.

Take it out and reboot. If that doesn't fix it, use system restore to go back a few days when everything worked.

My son turned my pc off and now when i boot it won't get passed the bios logo screen (asus sabertooth 990fx) and the boot check led status lit on the mobo. If i detach the ssd i can not to a recovery drive and then reattach the ssd to try and fix it but nothing I've tried so far has worked -

Bootrec fixmbr success
Fixboot success
rebuilbcd shows c:windows as there but then says system device not found.

What does this mean?

Answer:Ssd won't boot anymore

WELL, you didn't say what SSD you have. BAD!
But, it sounds like you had the same experience that I had a few months back, when my three month old PNY SSD decided one day that it didn't want to work anymore. I called PNY, from whom I bought the drive, but they would not do anything without the original invoice. So I was stuck, with a worthless piece of crap that I could do nothing with.
I got right on my backup drive, pulled up Amazon.com and ordered a new "SanDisk, 128GB, SSD" and requested two day delivery.

Now it's several months later and my SanDisk SSD is still working like a champ. It came with the SanDisk Dashboard, which includes the "Trim" program to keep the SSD in top shape.

Sounds like you need a new SSD. I strongly recommend a "SanDisk" SSD.

Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!

Hi, My attempt to setup my X1 Yoga (20FQ) laptop to dual boot windows 10 and fedora 24 failed and I am not able to boot on windows anymore  More specifically I installed fedora 24 while already having a windows 10 setup. During the installation the fedora installation manager has configured the partitions for dual boot. The installation was successful but to my surprise the grub 2 entry for the windows 10 didn't work anymore.  I inspected the partitions and found that the windows are untouched. However the ' /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' file is missing from the boot partition. I think I need to recover it so that I am able to boot again to windows. Do you know how I can recover the file? I noticed that there was no windows 10 installation disk in the X1 packaging. Also what's the right setup for dual booting the two operating systems? Regards, Kostas

Hi All,

I'm new to this and have a problem. I've read that the Tecra M5 laptop can support 4GB RAM. I did a scan from crucial.com and that confirmed what I had read, so I bought 2x2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 dimms. I tried one and it worked with 1GB in the second slot making up a total of 3GB and that works fine, but when I swap the 1GB for the other 2GB and turn the laptop on, the screen stays blank and I can hear everything booting up but cannot see anything on the screen. My brother has the exact same laptop, with the same spec and his 4GB works fine.

Can anyone assist with this problem please?

Many Thanks

Sunnynagra

Answer:Tecra M5 won't boot up with 4GB RAM

Hi

For me it sounds like that both modules are not compatible together. Which modules did you buy exactly?

Have you tested both modules only?

From my own experience I can recommend Kingston modules. Never had a problem with these modules.

My laptop will not boot up.
When I plug in the PSU the green LED at the front of palm rest (far left LED) flashes slowly on and off.
No other LED lights are on at all. Pressing the power on button produces no effect.

Please can anyone advise what the problem might be with this laptop.

"Perhaps someone knows if that particular "sequence" of flashing is listed as meaning any particular problem lease.

Your kind help in this matter would be appreciated .

Thank you
Ian

Answer:Tecra A10 won't boot up

Hi
There must be definitely a hardware malfunction.

>"Perhaps someone knows if that particular "sequence" of flashing is listed as meaning any particular problem lease.

Knowing that you can read the blinking code using the following procedure:

The short blinking means 0 and long means 1.
The code might be something like 0001 0001

Error code starts with LSB (least significant bit) therefore the error code has to be read starting with last bit. This means that the code: 0001 0001 would appear as 1000 1000
This code you have to transform in HEX and you will get the error code.

But in my opinion even if you would know what cause this problem, mostly it?s some motherboard malfunction (maybe also a part connected to motherboard like RAM module) and this means that the whole part needs to be replaced.

Answer:Re: Tecra S1: No boot

You could try to remove battery and disconnect ac adapter and leave your notebook for about 30 minutes. Then put everything together and start your machine.

If this does not the trick, you should take your notebook to ASP, to check wether it is something wrong with your ac adapters or battery.

Sounds like a serious problem, did you tried to boot in safe mode? If this doesn?t helps then it would better to give your machine to a local ASP.

I have a Tecra A6 that won't boot up.
About a week ago I left it for about 2 hours, it went into hibernation and since then I haven't been able to boot it up.
When I press the start button, the green ON LED lights up and then the HDD LED flashes once and thats all that happens. The screen stays black, the DVD drive won't open, nothing.
The strange thing is that the computer is on (the green LED is lit), the fan starts after a while and the underside of the case gets hot.

To me it seems like it has got stuck in hibernation mode and can't get into a true startup procedure.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Tecra A6 won't boot

According to your description is sound like the notebook would starts and the CPU would works because the underside gets hot. BUT there is something wrong with the display.

You can try to remove the battery for a longer period and disconnect the AC adaptor.
Then after this procedure and waiting several times you should connect the AC adaptor and try to boot up the notebook.

Please report if it works

Hi all!

A few months ago I dropped my Tecra A4 - silly of me, I know. The hard drive was damaged beyond repair so I bought a new one, plugged it in, and set up my notebook again, and it worked fine.

Last week, however, I went to switch it on - and it didn't. I just got the black screen BEFORE the Toshiba logo, and nothing else happened. After that, I tried reformatting, recovering, system restore, etc. and NOTHING seems to work. I can get the HD to boot up by pressing hard on the laptop, which makes me think it's a connection problem between the HDD and the motherboard, but again - no way to check.

Has anyone had any similar experience, or can offer suggestions? I'm a student so I can't really afford a new laptop.

Thanks!

Answer:Tecra A4 sometimes does not boot up

Hi

In my opinion this malfunction is a result of the notebook dropping.
Who knows what can be damage. Everything looks like something wrong with the motherboard but maybe it?s only a little, tiny part which makes such trouble.

However, the fault can be found only by a notebook technician. Therefore I would recommend contacting the service provider in your country for an check.

By the way; did you try to remove the battery and to disconnect the AC adaptor for a while? Not? Well, I would recommend doing this.
Remove the battery, disconnect AC adaptor and wait several minutes (about 20min). Then connect everything again and try to boot the unit.
Maybe it helps.

Hi everyone

New to this board, but I did a search for my Toshiba and Google found this, so I thought I would join in ............

I have just got hold of a Toshiba Tecra M2, (purchased from eBay, Yea I know, should have more sense) !
When the machine is turned on, I get the lights come on, but the fan wont spin, and it wont boot or go into BIOS

I left the thing switch on, to see what would happen basically, and it seems that the CPU is getting hot, (it would, because the fan does not come on)!
It also seems as though the battery charges a little ?

I have taken the memory out, and put it back in again, but it wont boot.
Is the Motherboard gone, or can it be fixed?

Any help please would be nice.

Thanks
Geoff

Answer:Tecra M2 will not Boot

> Is the Motherboard gone, or can it be fixed?
Not easy to say what?s wrong?. In worst case it?s a serious issue like faulty motherboard for example.

What you could do is this:
Remove battery, disconnect the AC adaptor? wait a little bit (30min - 1h)
Then connect both parts again and try to boot up.

If you will not notice any improvements, I mean if you will be not able to boot into the windows OS or you will not see anything on the screen then the issue must be really serious and only the notebook technician would be able to say what?s wrong exactly!

After upgrading to win7 and having sometimes a bleu screen when starting up the following happened.

After once more blue screen the laptop does not startup at all.

The only thing happens , is that I see the upstartscreen (in touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA) and icons at the underside of the screen indicating the drives. Then nothing happens any more, it doe not start up.

I can by entering F12 in a new startup procedure change to startup via CD rom, but this also has no effect.

Also it is not possible to enter the bios (esc + F1).

The keyboard is functioning because, after a while every touch result is a short " beep" .

I have removed the battery for a while and tried again with no result.

Can I put my laptop by the trash ore is there a possibility to bring it to live again

Thanks in advance, Jos

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer some exact diagnostic but somehow I feel BIOS is screwed up.
Disconnect AC adapter, remove battery and press power button for 20 seconds. After doing this connect AC power supply only and start your notebook again.

I don't have this notebook model and I?m not sure about entering BIOS but try also with F2.

Question: Tecra M2 - No boot

Hi everyone,

I've just been given a *Toshiba Tecra M2* that is suffering from some strange symptoms.

When I first powered up the notebook I got a message saying that the RTC wasn't working properly. The machine had been in storage for 18 months so figured that it just needed to be charged over night, which I haven't done yet.

Anyway, I went through the process of pressing ESC and it started to load Windows XP - it then crashed and rebooted itself. Again the RTC message appeared, this time I booted up the machine into SafeMode. It worked fine. After around 20minutes it suffered a BSOD. It was really quick and I didn't get a chance to get the error code.

I tried rebooting and nothing.

The Battery light was orange as it was charging and the mains PSU light was on as normal.

No spin of the DVD drive, no whirl of the CPU fan - completely dead.

The machine had worked fine previously and the owner just needed a fresh install of XP Pro on it.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

The DVD, RAM, LCD, Touchpad, HDD, CPU, FAN etc have all been removed and still the problem persists

Could it just be the RTC needs charging over night??:|

I appreciate any and all assistance you may give. Any questions just ask.

Thanks

Epi

Answer:Tecra M2 - No boot

I would suggest to put this thing together again and then remove battery, disconnect ac adapter and wait 30 minutes. Ok, I don't think that this will cure all the problems, but it is sure worth a try to get it started somehow.

But, if this doesn't it, then got to ASP and let them replace the RTC battery, as it seems to be in not a very good constitution. Don't know if this causes all the problems, but it needs to be changed anyway.

So try this first and then, I think a new installation of Windows is possible.

My screen randomly froze yesterday (stayed locked, couldn't move mouse or anything) and now W7 is stuck at "Starting Windows". The little icons won't appear and it stays stuck there for hours.

In safe-mode it gets stuck at CLASSPNP.SYS and locks.

Trying to reinstall doesn't work, it just reloops. I tried with another HDD, with new RAM, with another Video-Card, reset CMOS, nothing works.

Surprisingly, I can boot up Ubuntu just fine atm, no problem whatsoever.

I had this same issue when I had Windows Vista....anyone able to figure out what's happening?

This is the biggest and most ***** situation I been in.

I need your help.

My last option is re-installing Windows but I'm 100% sure that this is not required to fix my issue.

It all started today around 1 PM, now 8 hours or so ago when I was backing up my C drive with the program:
Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

It froze for some brief moment the first time I switched been my admin account and user account but the second time I was done for. I had my cursor visible and a black screen and that is not changing for hours.

Why did I do this? Because I was trying to fix: I tried enabling hibernate function but no luck

So this is all related. I think I should never have switched between accounts and let the system take the backup I was doing.

Anyway when I try to start up I got now through advanced booting:

My boot system is messed up.

I'm now using my windows disc and:

I got a system repair disk of February but I had no luck using that. I got a backup made some days ago on a remote hard drive, I got a system image made some tome ago but all of these I cannot use!!!!

My computer had a little problem with it a couple of days ago and I thought that I could fix it by doing a "SYSTEM RECOVERY" on my computer (because it worked before). Well I did the system recovery and it seemed to be working just fine until I clicked on "Finish". Then after that it seemed to take a really long time to load then it went to a blackish gray screen and there was just a little error message that says " The System is Not Fully Installed. Please Run Setup Again". Then I click "OK" on the error message and it re-boots my computer and then says it is loading Windows, but then it just goes to the same error message, EVERYTIME! Hello everyone

I recently ordered a new cpu fan (which I have replaced since bearings shot in old one and making lots of noise), for a AMD Athlon (K7) Socket A processor and now the new fan runs quietly but pc will not boot (the mobo is K7 Triton series GA-7VKMP). If I put the old fan back on windows boots no problem. I put the new fan back on and PC hangs and won't let windows boot. It hangs before it starts looking for boot order.
It says that system health is ok and processor ok but it hangs an will not boot to windows. If I try to get into BIOS nothing happens it still just hangs.
The new fan is A.M.B. Model FD06010 Ball Bearing DC 12volts .28Amps.

Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks for any help with this issue.

Thanks

Answer:replace cpu fan but pc won't boot anymore

sounds like the fan is not supported by your motherboard. You can try getting a Molex power adapter converter and plugging the power of the fan into the adapter and using one of the Molex connectors on the PSU. However, your motherboard Bios might report that the fan is not connected. I would find a CPU fan from your motherboards site that is compatible.

Hey guys,

Today I recently watched a video and it was saying to record with your nvdia gpu in 60fps without ruining gaming experience you use shadow play.

I enabled shadow play and then 5 minutes later my pc crashed and restarted it self. I said ok no problem. This problem has never happened until I enabled shadow play. I can boot up in safe mode (which Im in now) but I can't open nvdia to disable shadow play. I tried uninstall nvdia geforece experience but with no luck its still happening. I've tried restoring my pc. Should I fully uninstall my graphics driver or is that not the cause?  I don't know how to find crash logs. PLease someone help me

Hi Guys. I really need your help.
I have 3 drives. Vista installed on primary boot drive (C. Everything used to work fine until I installed XP on my second bootdrive (D.

In fact, when the XP installation finished and the system was booting up for the first time, it really creeped me out with some weird non-standard characters on the post screen. For a sec I felt my BIOS is messed up or something...

It didn't even let me boot into XP until I set D: as my priority1 boot device. XP now boots fine (although it feels like it's taking a lot longer than usual) but when I switched priority1 boot device to C: my system hangs at the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" message.

I then booted back into XP and tried different tools like VistaBootPRO and EasyBCD to fix my boot files but nothing works. I can still read files from my all drives whilst booted into D: (XP) so thankfully my C: is not dead but if anyone has any experience in this area, I would very much appreciate your help.

What I want is to have some boot option at system startup to boot into either Vista or XP, simple (or not so simple) as that.

I've just finished assembling my first computer, and tried installing windows 7 ultimate x64 on a blank samsung 256gb SSD from an 8gb usb stick, but I got an error on the second step at 1% saying "Windows cannot install required files". I pressed OK and restarted, I get a message saying there's nothing to boot from. Obviously, I made sure the USB was top priority as a boot device.

Any help with that..?

Here's some information about the stuff:

-The components are here:Intel Core i5-4690K, MSI GeForce GTX 970, Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) - System Build - PCPartPicker Canada
-I used Rufus to get windows 7 ultimate on the usb as a bootable device. I kept everything by default once that was done, so MBR for bios/uefi,NTFS ( I think), 4096 and quick formatting, no bad block verification.
-The HDD was unplugged
-I used a usb 2.0 port

The error itself happened on the installation screen, after the screen forselecting to choose partitions and whatnot, as the files were being copied.

This was my first build, so maybe this could be hardware-related somehow. Thank you!

Answer:Win 7 Boot USB first detected, but not anymore?

WiNToBootic bootable usb drive windows vista/7/8 - Bootable USB | Bootable USB

And make sure you didn`t change the boot order in the bios, or else the usb stick will just keep booting over and over again.

Use the boot menu to choose the usb stick 1 time and that`s it.

Hello,

I'm having a problem with booting into my Windows 7.

I have 2 HDDs. Disk A has a size of 1TB while disk B is 300GB.
Disk A has 1 partition, with Windows 7 x64 installed. I've been using it for months now without any problems.
Disk B has 2 partitions. Both partitions were empty, though they were both formatted, one being 100gb and the other one being 200gb.

Now I installed Windows XP on the 100gb partition (Disk B), thinking it wouldn't give any problems as both OS were on different hdds. After I installed Windows XP, I couldn't boot into Windows 7 anymore. I selected Disk A to be the first boot device in the BIOS, but it still wouldn't boot into Windows 7. I forgot what it actually said when I boot though, stupid me
Booting into the newly Windows XP didn't give any problems.

Then I tried to fix it by installing the Boot Manager of Paragon Partition Manager (stupid me again ). I obviously installed it inside Windows XP (the 100gb partition of Disk B).
I tried to boot into Disk A with Windows 7 again, now it loaded the (Paragon)Boot Manager. It only shows "Windows XP", and nothing happens when I press enter.
I really don't get how this happened, since I installed the (Paragon)Boot Manager on Disk B, but it appears when I try to boot into Disk A.

Then I tried to repair it by using the Windows 7 installation disk. I tried "Repair Startup Problems", or something along those lines. It hasn't seemed to chan... Read more

You need to install the older OS first so that Win 7 would have booted both. Use of Vista BootPro should boot them both if Paragon didn't destroy the Win 7 partition. I don't trust anything they make after a few beta tests really went south on me.

The power to my house went off. I fixed it and turned on my computer again, and the power went off multiple times after that in succession. After the last time my computer no longer boots Windows. I have attempted to start normally (the Windows logo appears and then freezes). I have attempted to repair Windows (it loads Windows files and freezes in a stasis of loading). I have attempted to open in safemode but the drivers stop loading at classpnp.sys. I've even gone into the bios and loaded optimized defaults but still nothing. I'm guessing it's the motherboard? After attempting to repair the usb's lose power so I'm not sure if that would indicate anything. The only thing I haven't tried yet is installing a fresh version of Windows but I don't know where I put my disk and I have a lot of valuable files that I wouldn't be able to transfer at the moment.

Answer:Computer won't boot anymore?

Hello,

My PC:

Manufacturer: Acer
Intel Core Quad Q6600
2GB DDR II RAM
320 GB HDD (2x 135)
Nvidia GeForce 8500

My PC is 3.5 years old and had it shares of little problems like every PC, yesterday I got a BSoD, along the lines of "PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA". Had quite a few number of BSoD's before but usually I quickly found out the reason for them. Or some which I never found a reason for, but didn't not have any immediate effect on the computer.

However, this time when rebooting it would get to the screen where you can "start windows like normal", or some sort or Problem Fix. Which ever option you would choose it would loop (usually with a restart) back to that screen, sometimes also changing the language from my native language to English. I attempted to boot in safe mode, but this would not boot at all and more or less go back to the same options. Eventually the computer would be going to a screen suggesting to use the repair disc (Because windows could not be started) saying:

File: \Windows\system32\Winload.exe or various other files, for example at the moment it is a file called uliahci.sys
Status: 0xc0000221 (with the uliahchi.sys)
Info: Can not load windows because an essential file is damaged or missing.

I am currently stuck on this screen and I've tried various things, will list them below. Sometimes there will also be another screen popping up:
"The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

Hi,

I have an HP laptop with 3GB of RAM

installed with vista ultimate 32 bit

out of the blue it began to complain it cannot boot anymore, not even at safe mode.

I get

error
0x0000007E with 0xc0000005 parameter

I tried repair from the setup cd but it could not fix it

I tried to use the command promt from the repair cd and saw my C drive mounted with all my files there.

some sort of a driver is doing that - I think...

but I have no idea how to figure out which one...

all the threads I found relay on me able to boot in the system to do things which I can't right now.. I can only access the files from outside..

can anyone help ?

thanks

Here's the deal. I have a custom PC that runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and it has worked fine since I built it a year or so ago.

The other day, I reformatted my mom's hard drive for her. It is a SATA II HDD, I connected it to my motherboard, booted to the Windows XP Pro 32 bit disc, reformatted her hard drive, and installed Windows XP Pro 32 bit on it.

After removing her hard drive from my computer, my system is no longer useable. Windows 7 will not boot at all. Insterting my Windows 7 disc and trying to repair the install does not work at all, the disc shows my Windows 7 installation but if I try to repair it it simply says it's the wrong version for the disc, which is absolutely false.

How on God's earth do I fix what I have done? I am ready to dump this thing forever and buy a laptop.

Answer:Windows 7 will not boot anymore

Your mistake was to allow the XP install to see your Win 7 as it booted up for the first time. At that point the system was seeing two drives both with the Active flag set and has probably written an XP style MBR to your Win 7 disk and XP was using that to get started. When you put the XP disk in another computer it almost certainly won't boot either.

The damage is only to the MBR and possibly the PBR and should be repairable but you need access to an expert to carry it out. Bit beyond my abilities I'm afraid.

I've only found one reference to my problem and that was on this site in the wrong forum. I haven't found any answers, though.
My IBM 600 laptop has decided it doesn't want to boot anymore.
Instead I get an error 127 message after it tests the memory and reports the 228800KB's OK.
In testing the components from the dialog box that opens I get an "DEV 001", "ERR 42", "FRU 1110" message when testing the systemboard and testing the memory causes the machine to freeze up. Everything else tests OK.
The situation is the same regardless of whether I use the onboard battery or the AC adapter. It's the same regardless of whether I use the HD or my emergency boot floppy.
I've replaced the CMOS battery and reset the date and time.
The machine is identified as type 2645-45U, serial number 78-KNR91 05/99
The platform once booted is Win98SE.
The bios is IBET39WW and the CPU is a Pentium II at 300mHz
The motherboard is model number FC/01/00
I'm going to keep poking at the problem but I'd sure appreciate it if someone could give me a leg up on what to look for.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:IBM 600 127 error, won't boot anymore

This is nearly always a sofware error, meaning requested procedure cannot be found or is caused by very big file tables The size of the data file is actually the main culprit.
But you can see it in a PC when the hard drive becomes defective, or memory goes awry.
This is a serious error requiring some real work. Test your memory and hard drive in an enclosure or another machine.
If the hard drive is older than two years, consider replacing the drive and rescuing the data from the old drive in a USB enclosure.
But since you have already tried everything, you can learn from the Thinkpad forums that old 600, 600E, (not so much 600X) boards fail, and give this error as they do... or the cpu fails... check the fan on your cpu to be sure it is able to cool.

After clocking my CPU from 8X to 12X in the BIOS setting, my computer would not boot up anymore. It does not beep or run a POST (power on self test).

Note: It is a 8-bit KT7 RAID Motherboard and 800mhz Duran processor.

How can I reset the BIOS setting??

Thanks in advance,

Hold the insert key down while you power up, it sets abit's to default processor, then go in the bios and reset the processor speed.

In other words, hold down the insert key, push the power button on, and keep holding the key until you start to boot.

In vista, I was using EasyBCD, and I didnt like how long it waited before booting into the default OS, XP. So I changed the timeout to 3 seconds. Since then, Ive really found no need for Vista. But now that I want to use it, when my computer boots, I dont even get the option of choosing XP or Vista for those three seconds. Ive tried mashing the UP & DOWN arrow keys as it boots to try and get it to stop, but it doesnt help. Ive also tried installing EasyBCD in xp, but it just continually tells me that there is no Vista bootloader installed, would you like to install one, installed successfully, please restart the program. When you restart the program, you get the same set of dialog boxes.

I recently left my PC in my flat for the summer and when I came back to it 7 weeks later to turn it on Windows XP wouldn't boot up.

I turned on the PC and the Windows XP Home loading screen came up but it was all funny colours and then after that screen where it usually asks me for my password the screen just went black except for some strange lines of colours across the screen. At first I thought it was the monitor but I have since tried that on someone else's PC. The PC will now occasionally boot up in Safe Mode but that only happens once every 10 trys or so and when it does it still has the strange colour scheme all over the monitor. I have no idea what could possibly be wrong whether it be a loose connection in the machine or something. Any sort of help on whats wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Windows will not boot up anymore.

Hey everyone,

I've got this problem that's driving me mad and I can't seem to figure it out.

I have an Intel P4 3.0ghz on a Intel D865GLC motherboard.
It's about a year and half old and a couple of weeks ago I started noticing problems with booting and it seemed to be power related.

It won't start up anymore. The green light inside goes on, so it does have power, then when I push the power button, there are 2 ways it responds. 1) Either the green powerlight goes on and stays on and the cpu fan wil rotate once or twice and then stops, it won't do anything else. 2) nothing happens at all, not even the green light goes on. It alternates between these two situations.

It seems like it gets a short boost of power and then stops.
I had the power supply checked and it was fine and I just replaced the fan and the power cable as well, so that's not it. The processor seems fine, no bend pins or burns.

This is really frustrating me and I would really appreciate it if anyone has any input. I could bring it in, but these people charge 70 bucks just to look at the thing.

Answer:Computer won't boot anymore

Sounds like a power or heating issue; you might have damaged something

An old rig had a similar problem, and it was a faulty power supply. Though you say yours is fine . So idk

Hi,

HP laptop ZE4310 - 7 years old - XP SP3

Although CD-ROM is on top of the boot devices in the BIOS the CD ROM is systematically ignored when I want to boot a bootable CD. This was no problem in the past.
At boot time the drive is accessed (LED shows short activity) but that's all before switching to the HDD (the original 30GB disk was replaced in the past with a 120GB without apparent problem - maybe the boot problem stems from this ?).
The drive is seen allright under "My Computer" and I can play audio and DVD disks but although Autoplay is marked, that does not work either.

Opening up the laptop to find the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS is a no go because I don't want to vandalize the machine. It's not simple to take it apart.

I would like to reinstall XP but without recognizing the CDs it's difficult. I do have an external USB CD ROM drive. Any known trick to boot from this device ?

Thank you for your valuable input.

Answer:Can't boot into XP anymore after installed W7

You installed XP and then Windows 7 into the same partition? In this case it is to be expected that XP is inaccessible since it no longer exists. Two operating systems cannot share a partition.Files encrypted with one installation of Windows will be inaccessible with another, even if the user name and password are the same. Unless you took the proper precautions, such as backing up the encryption certificate, these files will be unrecoverable except by advanced and very time consuming methods. The best way to dual boot XP and Win 7 is to install XP first and create a separate partition for Windows 7 and install it there.

Hi. Although I jumped in on this thread I felt afterwards that it maybe better to start a new thread with this issue.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/966631-disk-read-error-occurred-after.html

From about 3 wks ago when swiching on my laptop I find now that I am unable to get past f10. While on the f10 options I have tried the HDD Self-tests both short (2mins) and the long ones(37mins) and they both passed, not to sure in what that means. My laptop is a HP compaq nx9105, running winXP Pro. At the moment I have no clue in what is going on but really feel that the issue could point to a failing harddrive, although both "Self-tests" passed. If anyone has more knowledge of this particular issue more than me I would appreciate that very much, before spending out on a new hard-drive, i.e a particular CD, recovery, boot, diagnostic or other that may help.

At two stages after switching back on I did manage to get past the "a disk error has occured" and got to the "Checking file system on C: The type of file system is NTFS" to in the middle of checking or so "an unspecified error has occured", if that is a clue to anything. Also after switch-on I find that I can sometimes get the "start windows normally" DOS pop-up and then the windows XP logo, but continually loops between the two, if that helps. Thanks for your time and best regards

Question: Wont boot anymore

My vista laptop wont boot

When I press the power on button, I get the post check and then it restarts and just keeps doing the same cycle

When I put my vista disc in and boot from disc, the moving green bar comes up on the bottom, the hard drive light stays on but it never loads.

I cannot get into the F8 menu

Last night it was booting diffrent. It would do the post check then come up with the 'Windows cannot start screen' and give the option to repair or start windows normally. No matter which one I pressed, the computer would restart and bring the 'windows cannot start screen' again in a constant cycle.

Hi all,

I have a Dell 8100 PC running Windows XP Pro/Sp2 with a internal IDE Benq CD-RW drive as the 2nd device on the cable. The 1st device is a Pioneer DVD-RW writer.

I can read CDs okay from the CD-RW drive but all of a sudden I can NOT use the CD-RW drive to boot up system! Last time I tried was probably 3-4 months ago.

I go to boot menu as system is starting to boot up and select IDE CD-ROM Device -- system Beeps twice then it says:
"Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility". I hit F1 -- same thing!

Drive is listed as okay in device manager.

I have double checked devices in BIOS, all is okay. Even set CD drive as first boot device there, but after saving setup and rebooting - system still boots from HDD with a bootable CD in drive! Even tried a Ubuntu live CD and same thing happens.

Does anyone have any idea what problem might be and the resolution

Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Cin

Hi - I have Dual Boot on Leopard / Vista

I have not had trouble going between OS' but for some reason Vista has taken to starting with a Black screen (similar to the F8 screen)

Windows failed to start. A hardware or software change might be the cause.

To fix problem
1. Insert win install disc
2. Choose Lang
3. Choose repair.
etc
Safe Mode
Network
Command Prompt (advanced)
Start normally

Windonws will start in 30 secs..

After countdown it starts with the Loading graphic.... and then suddenly flashes up with a message I can't catch as it's too fast but I see a flash of the dreaded blue screen, Rebooting itself back to the Black screen.

I put the Vista Disk in and let the computer reboot but no change - fortunately holdong down Option allows the OS selection screen to appear.. this includes the Vista DVD in the drive.

If I select Vista the computer it would just keep on rebooting over and
I have a Seagate External Drive that was my Auto Backup drive... If I had to delete the Windows partition and redo Bootcamp, would that backup be any use?? Never had to do a repair like this.

Any suggestions????

Seems like you have a vista bootloader problem. Run your Vista DVD, after selecting language settings hit r to enter system recovery options. Click Startup Repair and go through the wizard. This should help with your boot problem!

Have you tryed booting into safe mode and using the restore feature.
Since I don't know what operating system your using I can't be more specific.
Keep tapping the f8 function key at start and select safe mode and hit enter.

i have been working at this for a week and i was finally referred to you guys by a friend of mine. my problem started about 2 weeks ago. i had turned my computer off for the night and the next morning i went to turn it on again and it took about half an hour to boot (no joke). i started it in safe mode and it froze up after it loaded crcdisk.sys so what ever comes next is the problem but i don't know what comes next. i first though it could be a hard ware problem but i changed out almost all the parts and it still won't work. i tried to reinstall vista because this was becoming annoying having to turn on the comp 30 mins before you need it but, the vista disk isn't damaged but it still didn't work, so it must be a driver or something like that. i put in my motherboard disk to install the drivers and it didn't work and i reset my CMOS and that didn't work either. it will get through the whole install and again get to crcdisk.sys and then crap out any help you have for me would be great i have pretty much been defeated on this one. thanks - Matt

Hi,
I have windows 7 operating system installed in my notebook. But suddenly my notebook is not booting anymore. I do have a backup image saved in a external hard drive, but can not install windows from there.
How can I re install windows 7 as I do not have a backup DVD.

Can anyone help me out?

Answer:Windows 7 does not boot anymore

Hi, The save image backup on the external hdd won't help you. You have to options now:

1 order a recovery disk backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2 Get Win copy disk and make a custom installation. All Toshiba drivers are available http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Btw, what about hdd image (F8)? Maybe , you can restore the factory settings with F8 on startup........

I've been up all night trying to fix this..

So I have been having issues with installing WOW and AOC due to memory issues, I was getting blue screens that said
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

so I downloaded memtest and prime95 to diagnostic the problem, will it reported back that memory slot 1 had 410 errors, but I was having problems isolating if the it was a bad slot or bad stick. So I ran prime95 torture test and during the test I received a bluescreen and it came up and went away so fast I couldn't notice the error so I had to reboot. When the computer came back up it started going extremely slow, so I decided to reboot into safe mode. It took roughly like 10 mins to just see the windows logo then another 10-15 mins to get to log in screen then another 10 mins to type my password then another 20 mins to see my desktop and this was all done in Safemode.

So now I rebooted again, this time I would get black screen for like 30 mins after Windows logo. So I decided to just re-install Vista it took a very long time to get to Vista re-install screen and next think you know it I get blue screen with the following error

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
nvstor.sys address 863e9395 base at 863e50000 DATAMAP 46671a61

So then I figured it was dvd drive I was install from so I unplug the defective drive and used my 2nd dvd and run install again, this time I managed to install Vista took roughly 3 hours, and now BINGO re-i... Read more

I cannot run windows anymore, it won't boot. I also am not able to Boot from CD at ALL. At first I was, so I booted the CD but when I realized I had to do a new install (wipe my hardrive) I decided to try startup repair first. It went on for 3 hours so I assumed it wasn't going to work so I restarted the computer. Now when I turn on the computer windows doesn't even load, it just freezes on a black screen after the Starting windows screen comes up. When I try to boot from CD (I even set boot priority to CD first) It will tell me Windows is loading files, and once that's done the Starting Windows Screen appears and it just freezes on that. I have no idea what to do. Please help.
EDIT: Also just to note, a while back I got a USB flash drive, and spent an hour putting it in the front two USB ports, and eventually they broke (the metal inside) So my computer always gives me a USB over current error) And ever since that I have a common problem (tends to happen when I hold the power button to shut off the computer) where once the Dell screen comes up, (the one that says press F2 and F12 to boot menu and setup) it just freezes there, and the only way for me to get past it is if I turn off my power strip that the computer is connected to and back on.)
Also, after constantly turning off the computer trying to fix this problem, I get a Disskete seek 0 drive) error ontop of the usb over current error whenever I try to boot from CD)

Answer:Windows will not boot anymore

I think you have a hardware issue; probably multiple problems. I will move your thread to the Hardware forum, but my guess is that your computer will need hands-on repairs. Good luck.

If you get to where you can boot Windows, or at least the installation DVD, this can be moved back to the Windows 7 forum. Just click on Report and make the request.

Hi,

I would like to do a processor upgrade for my Tecra A11 11N from the i5-430M to a probably much faster i5.I thought the i5-580M would do, but the laptop did not boot when i installed this processor.

I reverted back to the 430M, did some research on the internet and found out that the 580M has a very high FSB speed and that is what probably made it not to work/incompatible with my machine.

http://ark.intel.com/products/43537/
http://ark.intel.com/products/49653
http://ark.intel.com/products/49652

and also at http://ark.intel.com/

Now i went back to the computer shop, returned the 580M and got an i5-560M as i compared it's specs and saw it would be compatible as it has the same FSB speed with the 430M.

I then later on in the day tried to install this cpu as an upgrade BUT alas!
It STILL WON'T BOOT ALSO.
I was left dumfounded.Processors in the same familly line are supposed to be compatible with one another provided:Lithography, FSB and socket type are similar.

Or what am i missing here?
I have done processor upgrades in many instances for both desktops and laptops and this is the first one that has left me with no words to say!

please offer some help/advice.

Simon

Answer:Tecra A11-11N does not boot after CPU upgrade

Hi

Would recommend checking this Toshiba doc:

+Can I upgrade th CPU, Display or Mainboard in my Toshiba Notebook?+
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ35006D000RR01.htm

The CPU upgrade is not supported (officially).
The point is that even if the chipset would support the new CPU, it could be possible that the notebook would not boot up due to compatibility problems between BIOS or other components on the motherboard and new CPU.

My Tecra M4-S435 will not Boot.
When I turn it On all I hear is a quick check of the DVD drive, a whir of the hard drive and the fan.
I see nothing on the screen at any time. I've tried an external monitor and still see nothing.

Is this a hard drive failure, screen failure or something else?

Answer:Tecra M4-S435 will not boot

After searching a bit more I saw someone recommended removing battery and power for 30 mins. I did that and I can now boot up.

So good news but is this a sign of something going to happen?

Hi,
My Tecra A2 laptop works perfectly until shut down, after a few minutes the AC power LED begins to flash orange in a sequence of 5, 2, 1 flashes and keeps repeating. Laptop will not boot up until battery is removed then replaced and the go button pressed immediately.

Have replaced the battery but no difference, If left for a few days with battery out then booted up message tells me the CMOS battery is dead and have to reset time etc.

Any ideas?

Answer:Tecra A2 - boot up problem

Hello

Check please user?s manuals for your Tecra notebook. There you should find info how to load CMOS battery. Do it at first and check what will happen after doing this.

When you remove battery and use Tecra on AC power supply only have you noticed the same flashing AC power LED?

I have a Toshiba laptop Tecra A4 PTA42E (BIOS v 1.10 09/26/2005). My

Answer:Tecra A4 USB boot problem!

Hi mate,

if there?s no option in the BIOS which describes that you can set USB as a boot option then the machine is not able to boot from USB media. Did you pressed at startup F12 to bring up the boot options? If yes and you couldn?t see any option for USB then the machine definitvely has NO option to boot from USB.
