I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Tecra M3 - Stucks at the Toshiba screen

Hi nmirza,

Does your notebook always hangs on this Toshiba BIOS screen or only if you try booting from Toshiba recovery disk?

Maybe your recovery disk is scratched and you should try another one?

Hello!

I have a Toshiba Portege Z930-D3S laptop. I wanted to run a system recovery and did everything exactly as in the manual http://forums.toshiba.com/tshb/attac.../1/Z930_EN.pdf page 4-24, Section System recovery Options. The tool told me that the recovery partition is empty (or something like this) and the recovery cannot be performed. I definitely did not erase it and do not how it can be. Then there was an option to erase sdd and I thought that this might help (don't ask me why) and that the tool would erase everything but the recovery partition. So, I chose it.

Now I have the frozen screen with "Toshiba Leading Innovation" and cannot enter any menu neither by pressing 0, nor by holding F8. I cannon restart the laptop, it seems that it simply fall asleep when I press the power button.

Please, help me to recover the system.

Hi all,Has anyone got the service manual for this laptop or know how to remove the screen? The rubber gromits which usually have screws under don't have any screws under.Their are clips on the side which appear to be for the top of the case cover. The screen goes back enough to make me believe that detaching the screen from the base is not necessary.Any ideas?

I'm rebuilding a Toshiba Tecra A6. I have installed a new HDD and have run the installation disk. Unpack was successful. Now unable to complete the installation. Laptop is freezing on the XP splash screen during boot.

Help!!

Answer:Toshiba Tecra A6 freezing on XP splash screen

t boot:
What were the circumstances that necessitated a new HDD & re-install?

Which XP & service pack?

What are the capacities of the old & new HDDs?

Are you installing XP from an operating system CD or a Toshiba recovery disk?

Did you run diags on the new HDD? Brand, model & model # please.

Is this the first boot of the install?

During the install, did you select quick format? If so, run install using the non quick format. During the non quick format, install runs chkdsk, which looks at the HDD for bad sectors, before installing XP.

If you happened to read my previous post I received an old but seemily stable Toshiba Tecra S1. I have done some upgrading such as SP2, anti-virus, etc. Plus I have installed Office 2003 and it works fine. All connections including USB ports are in working order as is the DVD/CD-RW drive.

I was using this laptop over the weekend at a friend's house and one time I walked away and when I came back I had an 0x7E error. There has been no BSODs prior to this occurance. I wasn't able to read the minidump until I got home and it pointed to the ACPI.sys.

After researching it could be caused by:

1. Overheating (which was my first guess) as the driver attempts to throttle back the cpu because of heat.

2. Harddrive failing.

3. Driver controllers failing on the motherboard

* I have never had this error before and I was wondering what I can do to determine the exact cause. I have very little knowledge about laptops.

* Also, I have been wanting to diagnose the harddrive fitness since I have gotten it. Toshiba does not provide their own utility but suggests Hitachi's offering. So I burned an ISO disk with no errors but when I go to use the disk I keep getting a search error. Thw windows closes so fast I can't read what else it says.

Thanks.

Answer:Toshiba Tecra S1: ACPI.sys Blue Screen

Hi Route

Since you'll know what the Error Code means I don't have to list that like on other posts and you'll know that the ACPI.sys file is the Windows Power Management File if this is mentioned in all MiniDumps then I believe it is very much Hardware Related.

When testing my Laptop HDD I tried a few Different Tests even though I had Hitachi before that HDD died, I used the WD Test that is pretty good, I tried about 3 but can't remember the other I used after this I built up a Picture and worked out that it was my HDD that had gone.

I think Speedfan has a SMART HDD test built into the Program which seems pretty reliable as well, I found it shows Results that near as makes no Difference are the same as other SMART Tests you could have ago with that as well.

Have you been Monitoring your Temps?

If so could you post them, I have a Good Range set for Laptop Temps having seen Quite a Few.

Oh and Also did you get the New HDD or have you left it for now?

I was watching a movie on WIN DVD and my TECRA M2 froze I restarted it, I noticed blue vertical lines on the windows loading screen and then the screen went white, I restarted the pc and it gan't get past the toshiba screen just black screen. Some folks told me it's the VGA others the Hard Disk. What do u think?

Answer:Tecra M2: Vertical lines appeared and can't get past the Toshiba screen

Hi

For me it looks definitely like the graphic card malfunction!
This is really bad because mostly the whole motherboard must be replaced! :(
But to be 100% sure the diagnostic test is needed.

I think you should contact the ASP in your country. Explain the guys the situation and ask for details.

Maybe your warranty is valid?? In such case all replacements would be done fro free!
Usually the warranty should be valid for 24 month if you have registered this notebook on the Toshiba page.

when 'switching on', the Toshiba splash screen appears, then nothing else happens. Any key pressed after that, just makes a constant beep. I purchased the machine from a dealer, 2nd hand (?500) with XP Pro pre loaded, all updated etc, everthing worked fine till switching it on yesterday. This is my first laptop, and first time using this forum, 'be gentle please'

Answer:Tecra M1: boots to Toshiba splash screen - then constant beep!

Hi Alan,

Press the ESC key as soon as the Toshiba Splash screen appears and you should see the BIOS progress screen. This may give you a clue as to what is happening.

Please post back the results.

I just bought the laptop (x770-11c) from amazon warehouse (refurbished, like new) Turned it on, and it's just been looping and repeating this "Now Rating System Performance".
The loading bar gets to the end, then restarts from the beginning. It's been doing this for a least 2hours....

Surely rating the performance isn't important. What should I / can I do? Shall I continue to let it runs it's course?

"Finishing the installation may take several minutes. Please do not interrupt or shutdown the computer!"

Why is it doing this anyway? What is it struggling to install?

Please HELP

Answer:Qosmio x770-11c - Toshiba Configuring System stucks in loop

Hi

I think you should shut down the notebook pressing the power button 4 sec long.
Then wait 30 sec and power up the notebook once again. Press F8 to start the Advanced boot menu.
Here choose Repair my Computer and then Toshiba HDD recovery.
Now you should be able to start the recovery process again.

Good luck

Hi All, I have a g560 laptop which i bought just a month ago and use it for my study and entertainment purpose. I have noticed that sometimes when im using the laptop for more than 2-3 hrs. It starts giving me white screen. Lets say for ex. when the screensaver is supposed to come up, I get a white screen or when I am shutting down the white screen flashes for two times or when I turn the pc off, Its stuck at the white screen even though the laptop is off. The only way I can get the screen is off is by taking the battery out and then put the battery back in. In the past one month I've got this issue multiple times. Any help would be really appreciated. I work for a branded computer manufacturer myself but bought a LENoVo because my brother has been using a lenovo since the last three years without an issue. Thanks in advance

Answer:Stucks at white screen

Maybe you need to update your BIOS. BUT WAIT!! If you do that, do it under DOS.

My system had issues where I could not get into system restore as it was not showing up
so went to msconfig and I went to advanced startup and chose to start in diagnostic mode and on reboot it now just has a light blue screen.

I can move mouse around and there is no login box?

I tried reboot and hitting F8 but no luck.
Is there another bypass for this?

Please help!

Answer:Portege Z10 stucks on blue screen - cannot log in

Switch on the computer, press and hold the "F12" key while the Toshiba logo appears.
Alternative you can press and hold the "0" key to access the recovery option.
Choose "HDD Recovery" and confirm by selecting "Yes" that you want to enter the system recovery.

I recently sent my laptop (Equium A300D-13x) back to Toshiba to be repaired as it was overheating and cutting out.

It came back today and when I turned it on I got the screen where I was asked if I wanted to go into safe mode or start Windows normally.
Then it goes to a screen where it says, *Finishing the installation may take several minutes.

Please do not interrupt or shutdown the computer!*

I've been waiting all day now and I'm still stuck on this screen.

Has anyone had the same problem? And if so, how can I fix it?

Answer:Equium A300D-13x stucks on installation screen

Hi

I?ve recovered my notebook many times and the installation went always troublefree.
But of course such installation issue could happen always and I think you should simply repeat this procedure.

If you don?t have Toshiba Recovery disk then try to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option.
Just press F8 while notebook powering up.
Then choose ?Repair my computer?. Then a new window will appear and you could select the new option called Toshiba HDD.

Check it out!

Hello, when I turn on or restart my laptop (Compaq 6730b, OS Win7 64 bit), it begins to start, but after a few seconds it  stucks on screen with HP logo and label "Press the ESC key for startup menu". After that begin to flash NumLock and CapsLock diods on laptop - maybe two or three times. But nothing happens, although I press ESC or any other key. Only I can do is to turn off laptop and try it again, sometimes many times on an on till OS starts properly. I have permanently plugged in many peripherals - external monitor, external keyborad, mouse, webcam, speakers and I have laptop permanently plugged in charger. Maybe this facts could be cause of the problem, i guess, because when I turn laptop itself without any peripherals, this problem didnt appear. I'll be very thankful for any advice to solve this unpleasant problem. Thanks a lot. Regards miiichal

Try running the Windows System File Checker (SFC)
Instructions: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
If that doesn't help, try doing a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download
Note: Uncheck the checkbox at the end of the installation titled "Enable free trial of Malwarebytes PRO"

Hello all,

I recently decided to upgrade the Memory in my lovely laptop.
I went online, found suitable RAMs and ordered.

What i got are 2 of these:
http://www.offtek.co.uk/ram-specification/toshiba/toshiba-laptop-memory/satellite-l675-10t/pid921300

Installation is very easy, but as soon as i turn on my laptop, it stucks in a black screen with a white underscore upright.

I guess its a incompatibility problem ?
Could you please help me out?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite L675-10T stucks in a black screen after new RAM upgrade

I think you are right? it looks like the modules are not fully compatible even if the online dealer page says they are?
You can remove the new RAM modules just to check if the notebook would boot up properly? I guess the unit will power up correctly?.

Solution??? Use another RAM modules? I made good experience using Kingston modules? they could be a little bit expensive but I think they should work properly.

Hi,
Four days ago I installed BB flashback software but due to some problems I had to uninstall it and the installation didn't complete. After that day, whenever I open my Toshiba Laptop the windows vista boots normally but stucks at 'please wait while your system is preparing' screen. After waiting for a long time, I opened task manager, ended that running screen and then my laptops works just fine. I don't know what's that. I tried system restore many times but it always ends up unsuccessful. Later on I even installed BB flashback successfully and a new anti-virus AVG, but the problem persists. Any idea and any suggestions please???

Hi,

I have a Satellite Pro C850-1FN and for some reason it gets stuck in a Preparing automatic repair screen on bootup. It will sit with the text on the screen and then after about 8 minutes a blue screen will show talking about a problem and then the PC re-boots.

The cycle is then continued.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite Pro C850-1FN stucks in Preparing Automatic Repair screen

Hi

It looks like the automatic repair isn?t possible.
Did you try another option ? HDD recovery?

The HDD recovery procedure would start new system as well as driver installation and would set the notebook back to factory settings.

I think if system repair isn?t possible, your next step should be the HDD recovery.
In case the HDD recovery would not work too, then you should use the Recovery disk.

Dear supporters,

Model: Satellite L775D-10W
OS: Win7 64 bit
Problem: The booting procedure gest stuck after "Windows loads data" and a progress bar undertitled with "Microsoft Corporation", resulting in a black screen and a moveable mouse cursor.

The same problem occurs everytime...
pressing F8 >> all options (icluding safe mode) >> boot gets stuck
Booting from Win7 64-bit DVD >> boot gets stuck
Booting from Win7 64-bit DVD >> all options >> boot gets stuck

Is it likely that the graphic card is broken or that the corresponding driver is not fitting anymore?

Thank you for your time in advance!

Greetings

Mat

Answer:Satellite L775D-10W - Boot stucks: Black screen + mouse cursor visible

Graphic card problem might be possible but in such case the POST (power on self test) would not be passed and in my opinion it would not be possible to access the BIOS.

However, this is just a theory?
Try to boot the notebook using some Live CD like Linux

I would also recommend you to start the advanced boot menu. (pressing F8) and to choose Repair my Computer option.
Then choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?

This option would recover the notebook back to factory settings.

Hi all,
My Tecra M3 won't power up. When I press the power button the LEDs light up briefly and then the DC IN LED flashes orange.
11010000 The 1s being long and the 0s being short.
The user manual mentions flashing orange LEDs but doesn't say anything about this sequence, any ideas please because I'm fairly desperate to get it going again.
It does this with DC and battery at the same time and DC or battery on their own.
I have tried it with a different battery with the same results but I don't have another AC adaptor to try.
Thanx

Was removed when the laptop battery in sleep mode (OS Windows XP). Now when you turn after the cutscene Toshiba gives black screen and the following inscription - "Resume Failure and Press any key to continue" in the upper left corner. Pressing any result does not give the laptop hangs and nothing is going to do. Not loaded either with screws or with disk drives. Attempts to run it without memory and without a hard drive also did not give. Playing with the BIOS - the zero option. Tell me, can anyone encountered this problem, what to do now with this pile of scrap metal? Just do not know what could cause this problem and how to get rid of it. Question: Toshiba Tecra S1

Have read many posts and tried what was suggested. I pulled the 2 memory modules and cleaned the contacts with an eraser. I inserted only one of the modules at a time, switching slots etc. and then powered it up each time. Once with only 1 module installed, I got the WINDOWS XP startup screen (with the moving bar below) and then the Toshiba Splash screen appeared and then the screen went blank again. Seems like the hard drive starts up and then stops. The DVD drive seems to respond with a low clicking sound. I hear a couple chirps/clicks from the hardware but no beeps whatsoever.

I'm guessing bad RAM. I will try with some new RAM later when I get some.

Since I did get the machine to sort of startup once, am I safe to assume the BIOS and Motherboard are okay ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Question: Toshiba Tecra 8100

Hello - I have toshiba tecra 8100 - problem is that intermittently the
screen dims and to make it bright again i have to push the sensor button (the pin that the lid presses when you close the lid) --- sometimes i have
to push it several times ... i have to use this machine in for an exam and
i am afraid it is going to go dim on me and not brighten up - plus it makes a noise when i press this pin and i will annoy everyone in the exam room and disturb their testing. the dimming (really dim - almost black) seems to be worse when the machine has been on for a while although it can happen at any time.

i read somewhere that this is a
problem that can be resolved by cleaning the contacts on the FL inverter.
Can anyone tell me how to locate the "FL inverter" and how to open that
part on the laptop? Is it in the screen (lid) portion of the laptop or the
bottom (keyboard) portion of the laptop. Is this something I can do? I
am ok with doing things like installing hard drives, adapters, memory with
desktop machines --- but i have never opened a laptop. I would really
appreciate some help - thank you in advance.

Question: Toshiba Tecra 8100

I'm someone who posted a message on this website months ago looking for the last part I thought I needed to get my computer working again.

I ended up having to buy this particular part from a parts warehouse in Singapore.

It's still not working.

What am I doing wrong?

I've spent a lot of money on this machine and it's not doing me any favors by working. That's disappointing enough. To have to wait all this time since last April to come to this point makes me almost want to give up; smash it; junk it and buy a new computer and pass it off ( in my own mind ) as having successfully fixed it.

But I didn't waste $50,000 in college tuition money at a computer/technology school ( for a degree I ended up never getting ) just so I can learn to give up when I can't figure out how to get a laptop computer working again.

On the other hand; smashing it or coming on this website to ask for help;
does't " help " my confidence either.

Try a reset... remove battery and from AC. Press and hold power ON button for 30secs at least. Put back battery back and plug into AC then Power ON as normal.
If that does not help, try it with AC only (remove the battery) or the other way around.

Also make sure to remove any peripheals from the laptop.
That new motherboard which should have its own new bios chip I don't see why its not working. o0

Hello,

I'm trying to put a company image using imagex on a Toshiba Z40 via booting from USB.  For some reason the F12 Boot Menu is some strange GUI, and when I select USB it simply won't work.  I doubt its a USB3 issue.

Does anyone have any other tricks to force this laptop to boot from USB?  Running out of ideas.

Thanks,

educationfiend

Answer:Toshiba Tecra Z40 Not Booting from USB

First make sure SecureBoot is Disabled. If I remember correctly there is a setting in UEFI to enable and disable F12 for a boot menu. If that is enabled then see if changing your UEFI to Legacy or CSM boot helps.

How did you create the bootable flash drive.

From your other thread would it be possible to create a bootable Windows 8 USB flash drive with the required image and use it to boot. Windows 8 has native USB 3 drivers. You should still disable SecureBoot if you plan on imaging a Windows 7 OS on the computer.

I would like to share my experiences Installing Windows 8 on a Toshiba Tecra A10 (European Modell)
The Update or Install works fine and Windows recognizes allmost all hardware, except:
Bluetooth --> use latest BT-Stack from Toshiba Support Page (v80012T_20110809_x64.exe works)HDD Crash Sensor --> Toshiba hddprot-20121026130407.zip (contains TC30497500A.exe) work
With prior Versions the Driver will be installed and work, but you can't set the Protection Properties.

After installing those drivers all devices are functional.

Setup does not recognize the dual point device (touchpad and accupoint from ALPS) correctly and treats it like a standard mouse. So accu point and touchpad are both enabled and working, without Problems. But it is not possible to switch them off or do some advanced settings. Drivers from Toshiba (Windows7 or Windows8 from later Tecra modells) dont work properly, causing pauses in the mouse behavior. Accu Point is not working at all.
Original Alps driver from there home page does not work.

Try the lenovo 0kto02w8.exe UltraNav Trackpoint driver, it contains the Alps driver Release Date : 08/10/2012, Version(x86) : 8.0.1611.1xx with Installer Version(x64) : 8.100.1611.1xx with Installer for Windows 8.
It runs properly and supports the complete functionality of the hardware.

Answer:No audio on my toshiba tecra m7

Greetings, RR20.

You're probably missing a chipset driver or a chipset driver is corrupted. Try this: download and run the Intel INF utility, reboot, and see if your Device Manager symptoms have changed.

Be advised: this thread will probably be moved to the Driver Forum.

I've just been given a Toshiba Tecra 550 CDT, which was working fine on Win 98, until its previous owner attempted an upgrade to Windows XP. (probably not very wise given its specification!) At power up, it now gives the choice of Windows 98 or Windows XP, however neither works. It just reports lots of missing files, says that Windows cannot load, and goes back to the C: prompt. Any help or suggestions on how to get it back to Win 98 would be appreciated, I have a Win 98 CD. But the computer doesn't have a floppy drive, which I think was an external option. If it was, it's now missing alas. So that may limit recovery possibilities. Also I have no documentation or drivers, so even if recovery to Win 98 is achieved I imagine that drivers for the display and the "green button" tracker are needed? Many thanks for your help, even though it's a pretty old laptop it IS a laptop!! I'd find it very useful when on the move, and the battery seems to be fine. Is there any documentation online anywhere? Had a pretty good look but only found specification sheets.

I have two Toshiba adaptors (PA2450U and PA3282U) that also seem to work okay with the Tecra M4. Is using them with the Tecra M4 something that can be advised? Is this bad for the battery?

Answer:Using other adaptors with Toshiba Tecra M4

Hi

As far as I know the Tecra M4 was delivered with this AC Adapter:
Universal AC Adapter 15V 5A 75W 100-240V AC self-adjusting 50-60Hz - Part number: PA3378U-1ACA

The AC adapter - PA2450U uses voltage 15V 4A
The AC adapter - PA3282U uses voltage 15V 5A

In my opinion you should use the original delivered AC Adapter because in the long term the other adapters can damage the battery.

I recently had a hardware problem with my Toshiba S1 laptop while in France and Toshiba had it repaired under warrantly, however it was returned to me with a version of French XP Professional. Can I download what I need from the Toshiba site or do I have to purchase a "replacement item" with a certain Toshiba SKU number? Any assistance is much appreciated. Thanks - Azim

Hi,

it's not possible to download the recovery CD. You can get a new one from a Toshiba service partner (for free if you give them the faulty CD).

You can look on Toshiba's page for the nearest service center.

My TOSHIBA TECRA S1 has no display at all, I have it connected to a stand alone monitor and the laptop itself is operating perfectly, just have no display. Does anybody know if there is a way to troubleshoot the screen display to find out if it is good or bad, or what the problem might be? Thanks!

Answer:TOSHIBA TECRA S1 No Display

Hi

So when you turn it on you get nothing, could be a bad connection from the board to the screen, or the screen itself is faulty.

There are no methods to trouble shoot the problem all you can do is swap the screen from a working laptop and see if that works.

Best advice back up, format and stick it on Ebay as a faulty unit and use the money to buy a new one.

So I am over at my sister's place Friday night and she asked me if I would like a laptop. I said sure, let me take a look. It is an old Toshiba Tecra S1 (from about 2003) that she got from work a year and a half ago and it is actually in decent shape (for a company work laptop that has been passed on to several employees) and solidly built. I fiddled around with it for 2 days and suprisingly it is very stable.

It has the latest and last BIOS offered (from 2005) and I was able to upgrade the Intel wireless driver that was dated from 2006. All USB ports are working (unfortunately no S-Video or Firewire). It has Windows XP Pro and I was able to install SP2 without a hitch. The cpu is a 1.4 GHz Pentium M. It also has a DVD/CD-RW drive.

The only thing that I see as a drawback (besides old tech) is that the harddrive is a mere 40 GBs. I know very little about laptop hardware except the basics so can anyone suggest what harddrive I should consider concerning laptop especially in older offerings? An 80 to 120 Gig offering would be fine for my needs.

I have researched and I do know it is an IDE drive ATA-5. Will an ATA-6 drive work in this machine and the BIOS?

Also, there is only 512 megs of PC2100 RAM in a 2x256 configuration. I can upgrade to two gigs of PC2700. Will the BIOS give me an issue?

Lastly, I would love to be able to purchase a new laptop but finances are a no go and this offering will do what I need. Do you think the upgrades are worth it? Like I said, ... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Tecra S1: Upgrade?

First i would check:

Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com

That will give you a accurate reading on the RAM setup and what you can do and a cost estimate.

The Hard Drive it should use any IDE hard drive that can fit into the laptop. Which would be a 2.5" hard drive not a 3.5" used on desktop PC's.

But with a new hard drive will mean a new install of Windows XP Pro. So you will need the media to install it. If you dont have one we have steps here on how to create your own as well.

I am having trouble with a Toshiba Tecra 500 CDT running Windows 98. I have tried a couple of Wireless cards. Installed the software but the card is never recognized? Every time my cursor touches the top border of my screen (to close an Irfanview working tab for instance) this half transparent, dark grey toolbar descents, and rolls up again after a few seconds.

Of course you can disable this feature. I did it too because I think it?s enough to see the Flash Cards if I press the FN key.

Anyway, go to start > programs => TOSHIBA > Utilities > Settings for Flash Cards.

On the other hand; smashing it or coming on this website to ask for help;
does't " help " my confidence either.

What am I here for then?

I'm trying to find drivers for a Toshiba Tecra S1. I went to the Toshiba site and provided the Part number and Serial number and said the combinatino didn't return to any computer. I did download search for the make a model. The site has all the Tecra listed except the S1.

This all started when the hard drive apparantly crashed. The bizzareness of this whole thing baffles me.

The hard drive crashed. I checked the system as it boots up and it doesn't recognize any hard drive. I put a windows XP startup CD into the drive and run the recovery. It asks for the administrators password and not having one, I tried three and was forced to boot up. Low and behold it boots into the hard drive.

I figure before I do too much, I'll connect to my network and back up some files. the wifi sees my network but will not connect or even ask for my password. After several attempts, I try to get it to connect by cabling it to the internet through my router then direct. I use a broadband cable IP. I can't get the network adapters to install. I tried to use the network connection wizzard and No Joy.

I looked at the device manager and see that the Ethernet Controller, PCI Flash Memory, PCI Modem, and video Controller (VGA Compatible) are enabled but the drivers are not installed.

I try to load the drivers through the wizard and it says it can't find it. I looked on the Windows CD and no joy.

Any suggestions????

Try this:

1) unplug ac & remove battery
2) perform a "hard reset" by holding down the power button for 60sec
3) remove ram card(s) and insert into other ram socket

This may be an issue with the ram card(s) that requires you to reset them.

Maybe anyone does have any suggestion regarding that and can help me out. Maybe I did not configure something well.

Was having serious issues with XP on my Toshiba, so I installed Windows 7 on there. It seems to be running fine but the wireless card does not show up in device manager.

How can I get wireless to work (Intel 2200BG I think) on Windows 7? And are there generic drivers I can use for the sound (or toshiba specific ones)

Tecra A2 is definitely not supported for Win7 and Toshiba will not offer drivers for this notebook model. You can try to test WLAN card functionality with Vista driver. For sound can be problematic too. Test it with Vista driver too.

Generic drivers are not known to me but you can try to check it Googling arround.

A friend entrusted me with her Toshiba Tecra A2 (1.75GHz, 489MB RAM, 40GB HD, XP Pro SP1), which was suffering from the usual middle-age-terminally-slow-operating system problems, caused by badly clogged registry etc...I ensured her that I wouldn't break it, or at least wouldn't make it any worse, and she would be ?30 better off than taking it to a tech shop for them to look at.

So I did the following, standard stuff, all of which worked fine.

*Disk clean-up (from C:\ properties)
*msconfig to remove unnecessary startup programs
*Full scan disk
*full defrag
*hooked up online to run liveupdate for Norton AV
*ran a standard, basic registry cleansing program
*whilst online ran several passes of windows update, with several reboots all without error.

It then took all afternoon installing SP2, and upon reboot, it went through the usual XP-style sky blue boot screens I expected post-SP installation i.e. "please wait.............................."

History: This is a refurbished Tecra, apox 2 years old. Did have inital problem with it after installing DVD player program and wireless component. Did have to return it to dealer to have them fix it (i suspect they reformatted it).

7 months of bliss, and then two nights ago , while in hotmail, and facebook, the laptop became sluggish. Then it flashed the BSoD for roughly 3 secs and then shut off. Restarted the comp....tried to quickly print off word document....middle of printing repeated same behaviour.

Waited 30 minutes....comp is working fine, think all is fine and dandy...and then it repeats same actions. At this time however we did attempt to remove programs(activex ) and was in the process of a system restore.

Gave it a break, next morning....Booted up, and completed a system restore to a point 7 days earlier.

Now it just starts up...and goes immediately to the screen that asks you to choose "safe mode, last known configuration etc). Although i vaguely remember possibly seeing the windows screen for a bit.

TRIED running rescue disk but the CDROM won't work.
There is no floppy disc drive, and I've been told that I can't run DOS without a driver, b/c those how XP is. I don't know what to do, or how to fix it. I ha... Read more

SYMPTOMS
When you first restart your computer during the upgrade to Windows XP or when you start Windows XP, you may receive the following error message, where aaaaaaaa, bbbbbbbb, cccccccc, and dddddddd are hexadecimal numbers that may vary:
STOP 0x000000ED (0xaaaaaaaa,0xbbbbbbbb,0xcccccccc,0xdddddddd) UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
NOTE: If you receive this error message when you restart the computer for the first time during an upgrade to Windows XP, your original operating system still works correctly. In some cases, a message appears on the BIOS report screen that states that the wrong cable is in use, but you may not see this message on computers that have a fast startup time.

Hi im new to these forums came here looking for help.

Ive had this laptop for a while recently bought some upgrades for it, before the parts arrived i tried to change the bios password to somthing different, well i restarted and it would no longer accept the old password...nore the new one.

Parts came in and for weeks ive been stuck at the password screen.
Purchased "http://cgi.ebay.com/TOSHIBA-Tecra-8000-8100-8200-BIOS-Password-Removal-Key_W0QQitemZ170022133942QQihZ007QQcategoryZ40177QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem"
Was a scam and never came in the mail.

I have been told a program "keydisk.exe" or somthing can bypass the bios password, but we have a problem, my laptop does not have a floppy drive.

So heres where you get to help me , im thinking about purchasing an external floppy drive (usb connected) to try to use that "keydisk.exe".

Will i need to install drivers for the floppy drive? Im running winxp sp2.
Thanks for your time,

i want to install win xp in toshiba tecra s4 vista, but i fail to do it any can direct me what to do to uninstall vista,

Answer:uninstall vista in toshiba tecra s4

Make sure you can get mobo drivers for xp before doing so. If you can,
then get a program called killdisk, its free do a google for it. That will
wipe the drive, then you can install xp. You will have to boot to the
program so you may have to adjust boot order in bios.

Hi,

I have a Tecra A8 PTA83A-042012 with the video driver Intel(R) 945GM Driver Express Chipset.

I also have a Toshiba Tekbright PA3719A-1LC2 21.5" Monitor
The laptop fails to detect the correct resolution for this monitor and the closest I can get to the native 1920x1080 resolution is 1400x1050 which looks stretched and ugly.

The drivers for the graphics are up to date according to the AU Toshiba site (even though they are 2006).
I tried to find new drivers (winxp_14324.exe which seem to be the latest drivers for the intel video chipset ) but the driver says it does not support my hardware.

How can I get this Monitor to display properly?

PS. I am using an Advanced port replicator but have tried without it as well.

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Answer:Tecra A8 Not recognising Toshiba monitor

hi cl3ft,
holy fairy parents ;-)

which os afre you running?
did you refer to the manual which resultion your grafics can provide to an external screen?

if the driver says "unsupported hardware" maybe you downloaded a wrong driver - have a look at the bits > 32/64

and *dont use the generic grafics driver* - this one cannot support the special hardware which is in a toshiba notebook.

try to use 1400x796 in order to presave the aspect ratio...

Answer:Tecra A10 - Can't install Toshiba utilites

Hi

What OS you are using?
Normally for Windows Vista for example you have to install Toshiba Value Added Package. It contains all drivers and tools for FN keys for example.

But regarding the installation error: Did you exchange the mainboard or an ASP for example? I did read sometimes about this error and that means the DMI informations are not written correctly.

Hello

During the final quarter of 2004, we invested on two Toshiba Tecra M2's with Windows XP SP2 and standard Tosh build.

Additionally the laptops are configured for our use and loaded with the following software :
*MS Office 2003
*Autocad 2002
*Photoshop CS

Configured for our use and now experiencing a noticeble lag when executing tasks when:
* opening closing documents in MS Office 2003 Pro on/off the network)
* creating new and opening drawings/plot files in Autocad 2002 (with all latest service packs and patches loaded)
* loading Photoshop CS and various Apps.

Due to the purchase dates of these laptops, we have been informed by our reseller, that we cannot return these items. Now we're definately stuck with them, but i need to find a solution as to why they are slow in performance, fix it right and prove my peers wrong.

thanks for your time.

Hello everybody.
I need some tips or some answers, if you will be so kind.
First of all English is not my 1st language, so here goes nothing.
I just replaced a HDD for my Toshiba Tecra A3.
I installed Windows XP Home Edition.
Good. All worked fine. The next day i started my laptop, passed the XP logo, antivirus, wireless network all fine. Then it shuts down. I start it again. Same thing. After 5 times it works. And every day i must make so. I start the laptop, it shuts down, i start it again....5 times the ON button and then the laptop works.

Can you give me some advice ? i searched google but it always said it is the cooler. The cooler is clean, no dust..
Thank You

Hello, ive been given a laptop, but i think two things are missing. It hasnt got a power supply but on the bottom it has Dc 15v, is this the voltage power supply unit i need?
Secondly again on the bottom, there seems to be 2 slots which have nothing in, and i dont know anything when it comes to laptops. Can anyone tell me what should be there? (pic included)
Cheers

Answer:Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop

Hi. I used to have a Tecra 8000. Anyway, the two open slots there in the pic are where the memory modules go. And yes, I believe the power supply is 15vdc. You should be able to order all 3 items online. Good night and good luck.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 780DVD that includes the Toshiba video camera. When I got the computer the OS had been changed to W98SE from the W95 that came with the computer originally. I have all functions working with W98SE and am reluctant to go back to W95. Does anyone know what steps to take to revive this feature? I want to keep the OS at W98SE. I have loaded the Built-In Video Conferencing software from the Toshiba website and installed it but have not been able to get the video camera or the video conferencing features to function. Is there other software that must be installed? I have read that the computer uses an Intel program that is no longer available or supported for the conferencing function. If that is true, does anyone know where I can get a copy to install?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortnately my tecra s1 was knocked from the coffee table onto the floor, the display immediately turned white. When I rebooted there was no display at all (just black)
The computer is working as I connected it to an external display and that was fine. I tried to folow various trouble shooting guides online showing how to take the notebook apart and to reseat the display connector onto the motherboard however this did not cure the problem.

I did notice that coming from the display was a large bunch of wires going into a connector which is the one I reseated, on the right hand side of the display is a white and black wire going to a connector and a pink wire which just seemed to be floating, I could not see where it had come from. Does anyone have any ideas regarding this wire or any other tips which may help me.

Answer:Toshiba tecra s1 display problem

You may have knocked the inverter lose. It is difficult to fix, as it rests behing the screen at the bottom... and you have to remove as many as 22 screws to get to it.
Or you may have dislodged the ribbon cable that goes from the system board to the screen at a hinge point.
That is easier to repair. Remove the keyboard by removing all the screws from the bottom of the computer, then remove the bezel and other parts around the keyboard. You will find a wide flat cable that is very thin. unplug and reseat that cable and all others.
Sometimes you will get lucky. But you really need a friend or a tech who is familiar with screen problems, and all the components in the computer...
As you probably know, it costs about $150 to have it repaired because of the time involved in doing the work... and the possible parts neede.

As stated in the topic. What does this utility actualy do?
Does it effect the processing speed? Screen brightness? Fan speed?
Have you noticed any improvement in battery life? What about nosie, does it effect the fan speed?

My Tecra A8 is very noisy.

lp

Answer:Re: Toshiba Power Saver on Tecra A8 - what does actually do?

In my opinion there is no much to say. If you check this tool carefully you will see which settings are available there.

>Does it affect the processing speed? Screen brightness? Fan speed?
Why you do not test it on your notebook? Try to change profiles in power saver using FN+F2 key combination and you will see what happen.

I can answer all your questions with yes. But, in my opinion, you should test al this alone to see what happen exactly if you choose different levels on every single offered setting.
