NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

Question: NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

I have a NB100 And when it trys to boot i get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I have connected a DVD drive with the product recovery disc GMR400882EN0 inside it and powered on, on booting i keep F12 pressed and I get the options for setting it to boot from HD FDD CD/DVD USB Memory, I set it to boot from CD/DVD

When it loads it gets to loading RAM image I get Error 32768 File PEBASE ISO Could Not Load.

I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is £29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

My daughter has a Asus 904HD and once she had a problem... She had none of the poor support of go and do it yourself... Asus sent a courier very fast-confirmed pick by text-fixed-delivered back confirmed drop off by text within 5 days!!

Preferred Solution: NB100 Recovery Disc wont load - Error 32768 File PEBASE could not load

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

>I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is £29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

I doubt it?s a faulty recovery disk.
The error message: missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by faulty HDD or another hardware component.
In your case I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for hardware check and new OS installation. The notebook is under warranty (as you suggested in the posting above) and therefore everything should be done for free because it?s covered by warranty

Hello,
I woke up this morning and turned my computer on.
a few hours later, I noticed my Mcafee Security Center was not working, so I decided to restart my computer.
After restarting my computer, I came up with a notice saying my computer had some files that were missing, corrupt, or could not be read.

Since my reformatting disk is integrated into my computer (Windows Xp Home edition 1100 or 7100, looks more like 1100) I decided to reformat my computer

However, when I reformatted my computer, I get this notice before it even starts to reformat my computer:
"Setupdd.sys does not load, Error Code 32768"

Also, a few days before, my computer crashed due to a system32/config/system error, if that helps.

Thanks for your Help,
Nibcake.

Answer:Setupdd.Sys does not load, Error Code 32768

Are you restoring from a Restore Partition? not a Restore Disc (CD)? If it is a CD then CD may be scratched or damaged. You can purchase one from your Computer Manufacturer. If you are Formatting from a Restore Partition then the hard drive may be damaged and need to be replaced. See if you can boot into Safe Mode and get to Start/Run and type CMD and hit enter. In the Command Prompt type chkdsk /f/r and hit enter. then a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will try and fix any errors on the drive.

Hi

I have a Satellite L10-151 model and it won?t load windows. Every time I try and start it, it says operating system not found. When I put the Toshiba recovery discs in that came with the notebook and I also bought a windows XP disc that won?t load either.
I have also taken the hard drive out and put another one in and it works fine so it must be the hard drive but don?t no what.

I have also tried installing windows 7 that doesn?t work either :s

Please help? The HDD has everything on it.

Answer:Satellite L10-151 wont load XP or recovery disc

Hi,

> I have also taken the hard drive out and put another one in and it works fine so it must be the hard drive but don?t no what.

can you enter Bios (f2) to check if the hdd recognized? It looks like your hard drive is fine but it can be something wrong with the motherboard connectors.

Alright so after trying to get some external hard drives to show up on my desktop and having that fail I did a restart to try starting fresh. When I restarted I ended up with a BOOTMGR missing error, after trying for ages to get the Windows 7 dvd I have to boot up while getting the error 'BOOTMGR missiing press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart', I finally got my computer to allow me to boot from the DVD.
Now when I do press a button to boot from the DVD my computer it shows that 'Windows is loading files...' message, and the bar loads up all the way. It then changes to the now loading windows screen with the animation and all but its what happens after this that has become the next problem.
The bar will load and then after a bit it pops up into a desktop style screen with a background and my cursor on the screen but nothing else. I thought at first it was still loading up the options screen so I could click repair computer, but it stays there. It has been stuck on this screen for around 20min now without any loading circle showing up next to the cursor or my dvd drive making noise (it went silent after the background and cursor loaded).
So does anyone know whats going on with my computer? I dont even care about repairing the OS anymore I just want to do a full format but I cant even get the Windows 7 DVD to load the format/recovery page so I can do that.

Any help is extremely appreciated!

Answer:BOOTMGR error >> Recovery DVD wont load

Welcome to the forums and fill up your system specs

Yours is a desktop or a laptop ? It will be better if we could come to know the configuration . Anyway, can you remove the RAM, clean the edges and attach it again (with power cable unplugged from the source) and try the process again ?

It might be the RAM which is not functioning properly .

(similar post on Software and Apps forum)
I have written my own program that creates a .EXE file by modifying another .EXE file. The output file will not run. Intel's SDE program tells me it gets a system error 193.
If the tool changes nothing, but just writes back everything it finds in the input, then the output runs fine, and in fact the binary files are identical.
I have the tool making just a few changes. It lengthens the file size and virtual size of section # 4 (.data) by 1000x, and adds 1000x to the RVA of section # 5 (.rdata). It also adjusts the Relocations Data Directory pointer and the SizeOfImage in the image header. Otherwise the two files are identical.
But the output file doesn't load.
I also tried setting the output Checksum and SizeOfCode fields to 0 without changing anything else, and it runs successfully. So these fields are apparently not the cause of the problem.

DO YOU KNOW a way or a tool to tell me what's wrong with my output .EXE??

If you would like to analyze the files yourself, please tell me how to package the .EXEs as an attachment for you.

Thanks.

Answer:Analyze why EXE file (that I created myself) wont load (sys error 193)

I know why the EXE failed to load now. However, I want to leave this thread open because (1) it may be of interest to some later linker developer, and (2) I hope somebody will point to where the violated requirement is documented.

I found out that the problem was that I had the first section starting at RVA = 2000x, rather than the usual 1000x produced by the microsoft and gnu linkers.

There was another problem I discovered. As documented in the PE spec, sections have to be consecutive and adjacent. The pages occupied by a section go up to the page containing the last byte, as given by the size in memory of the section header. I tried placing a 1000x gap between two of the sections, and it failed to load. Instead, if I made the first of these sections 1000x longer, then it worked fine.

The difference between making the first section 1000x longer, and starting the first section 1000x later, was that the latter case failed to load. In both cases I correctly adjusted the entry point address, the image size, and the relocations directory.

So please, if you know where it is documented that the first section starts at 1000x, or better, a complete specification of what an EXE file requires in order to be loadable, ... then please post it here, and also on my thread in the Software and Apps forum.

Hello

Satellite A30 is pretty old unit and I am wondering that you report about something like that after so long time. I don?t know what happen exactly but it will be interesting to know few things:

Have you noticed similar problem before?
Do you use original disc or some copy?
Is there some problem with HDD?

Please give us a little bit more info about all this things.

Hello, well I am trying to reformat my computer once again, somehow it got deactivated when it is ALREADY activated, but when I restart with my Windows XP Home CD in the drive, it wont read it when the computer is starting.. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

Answer:Disc Wont Load On Start Up

For booting the Windows CD, it may be that you need to change bios settings in order to get a boot. Shut your system down and power on, during POST (Power On Self Test - this is the bit before the Windows splash screen), press F2 lots, and the setup menu should load. If not, try the Delete key, then some other combination of mashing the function keys to get the right one.

How your Bios is laid out, depends on your motherboard, but the aim is to enable CD Boot, (usually simbolised with a tick against it), and prioritise it above Hard Drive. This will be on the main screen, or in a seperate boot menu, the commands for editing selections appear along the bottom.
I was looking around for something similar to your error and found

It seems whilst this is not exactly your situation it may be worth following
Code:
6. Click Start, and then click Run.
7. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK.
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
8. Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows, and then click Next.
9. Click Change Product key.
10. Type the new product key in the New key boxes, and then click Update.

If you are returned to the previous window, click Remind me later, and then restart the computer.
11. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to verify that Windows is activated. You receive the following message:

Hi,

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I have a Compaq computer, it started running very slow. I removed all the viruses, but when I connect to the internet it downloads all the virus back on. At this point I have removed them again, I have not connected to the internet. Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

Answer:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

So i installed vista (and it was very slow because of AHCI mode or whatever) and at the last step it was going very slow and lagging
We restarted the computer and now i get the message
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "Ok" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."
I built my own comp and pretty sure all the parts are compatible and compat with vista and windows 7
So ive tried various vista recoveries and programs to wipe my hard drive but none of them actually ever boot
When im stuck at the screen with the error message i can open the cmd box

When you say that they wont boot. Are you referring to the HDD tools or the
Windows disk.

For some reason, no matter what I do or try, my Toshiba recovery disc will not boot or load in my disc drive. I hear a lot of whirring noises and loud clicks, but nothing. I've cleaned the disc, I have my BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD drive. I have to eject the disc or else it would stay on a black screen all day. This is driving me up the wall, my laptop is just out of warranty and my games/applications are running slower and slower each day. I can't afford repairs, I need help! Has anybody got advice for me? Thanks

*edit*: I forgot to mention, certain discs don't load in my laptop but they'll load fine on my desktop (including my Toshiba recovery disc) is there anyway I can copy the files off my recovery disc and create a new one? (I'll admit it has a couple of scratches)

Answer:Recovery disc won't load on my Equium A210 - 17l

It is not easy to say what is wrong there. It can be faulty recovery DVD or maybe defective optical disc drive.
Try to use some other bootable CD/DVD as Microsoft installations CD or some Linux installations CD. If none of them work maybe is ODD defective.

Recovery image cannot be copied on HDD and new media creation is not possible. If your recovery media cannot be used because of scratch you can order new copy under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I have just installed new memory, new graphics card geforce 8800gt,new power supply, and new sata hard drive.
I have made a floppy disk from the motherboard cd for installing the drivers during windows instillation from my old pc first.
I switched on new pc to load windows and i get no signal on my monitor also my usb mouse and usb keyboard does not light up,iget power to motherboard and case fans +dvd drive,i have put my windows xp os disc into dvd drive and basically it does nothing.
Do i need to make a windows boot disc or something to start instillation.
I still have windows loaded on my secondary sata hdd but the system32 is corrupt,so i have opted to install new sata hdd, then transfer my files from secondary hdd, once that is done gonna format secondary drive and use it for storage. So i still have the option of entering the bios on my motherboard if i connect it up and disconnect the other drive.
I have left the drive disconnected while i install windows then gonna plug it in after windows installation.

Okay I hope I can explain this well.
So yesterday I was on the computer and it just quit. Shut down and restarted without warning and flashed a blue screen with a sunshine ray type screen. Then I got a Windows Error Recovery and I choose to start windows normally as this has never happened to me. When I choose that I got a blue screen that a problem was detected quoted STOP: 0x0000007e. I managed to get into the Advanced Boot Options but no option would work. It would only just recycle a restart. Then I would get the error in windows boot manager about 0xc0000428. Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. I have put in a recovery disc that was made and a genuine windows 7 disc and I get the option to boot from disc but it just takes me to the digital signature error.
I have pulled the hard drive out and put into an external case and hooked up to my laptop. Everything is still on my hard drive. I have ran the SMART tests in the BIOS menu and they all passed. I have taken out the ram and put it back in. I do not get any beep codes or anything. I read on here to try the Windows Defender Offline disc. I burned a disc off my laptop which is just a few weeks old and clean of malware and viruses. When I put disc in all I got was a the blue symbol (4 squares in a square) and it just sits and goes no where. Thinking there might be something wrong with the DVD drive itself I tried an external usb dvd with same results. I even made a copy on a flash drive with the sa... Read more

Answer:Numerous errors. Windows 7 will not load recovery from disc.

I'm assuming you tried booting into safe mode and that didn't work? Safe mode loads very few drivers, so if that won't boot, it means a fundamental Windows system file is corrupted (thus the digital signature error you report). Which one? Well, there's the nub, eh? You tried booting into the DVD and selecting "Repair"?

There's more hackish ways of handling the situation, but even on Linux systems, where the package manager will tell you which OS file is corrupt and how to un-corrupt it (by installing the original package on top of it) and where I know how things work on a fundamental basis (I design Linux distributions for a living, duh), often once I get a live CD loaded and the filesystem checked and mounted, I copy the data I'm interested in to another drive and reinstall then restore (well, actually, I don't restore, since I always partition my drives as a system partition and a data partition and an install never touches the data partition, but I copy the data elsewhere anyhow before I do the re-install). Past a certain point it is more effort to fix the install than it is to re-install.

So anyhow, before doing something drastic like re-installing, check the SMART data on the drive first, the drive may need to be replaced. I just checked SpeedFan with an external USB hard drive and it *will* read the SMART data on that hard drive, so you can use that external USB case and check the drive using SpeedFan on your laptop. i had a windows 7 pc with 2 gigs of ram, and a brand new 1tb western digital caviar black hd

it worked for 2 weeks since i bought it used from a friend, then when i switched it out of its ugly case into a new one, nothing will load.
it says verifying DMI pool data, then says insert system disc and press enter.
i burned a windows 7 os disc from a friend, and when i put it in, and pressed enter, it repeated the same message.
one friend said it was the bootloader, but when i put in other HD's it gave the same message.
im mad, because i deeply loved this pc and only used it for a short time

I have a computer that has Vista OS 64 bit and at first, it would get to the start screen and go black, well my nephew stupidly would shut it down by unplugging it, trying to reboot it or something. My question is if I buy him a new hard drive, how do I get data on it, or can I just format it and install the new os? I cant see anything is the problem. Can I clone that HD or mine from a windows 7 of the same size and then send it back to a new one? I still have the problem where there was a black screen and now it is basically a dead computer. I just figured there was a way to fix it

The option to create a recovery disk is on the backup page.
Type "back" in the search box and then click on "back up your computer."
Then you'll see the "create recovery disc" option.
If that's what you're talking about. Not sure.

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

A year ago my brother computer started having blue screen errors every day with different errors every time it happened. His done a factory reset on his computer twice but the blue screen errors reoccurs after a few days. The problems has gotten worse over time with the blue error screen appearing every hour forcing him to restart his computer. When he installed windows 10 the problem despaired for a few days but it came back with the same issues. I should also mention whenever he tries to do a virus scan with any virus program the blue screen error pops up in the middle of the scan every time. For a while any anti-virus program wouldn?t even work on his system. I?ve tried to fix his computer several times with different anti-virus and anti-rootkit programs (fails every time due to blue screen error) even different rescue recovery disk programs seem get stuck scanning his system or take a long to scan folders but it has managed to find and delete a few virus. I?ve also tried to do SFC /scan now command but it stops at 7% and says it can?t restore corrupted files and RestoreHealth command fails at every attempt. Two days ago I used G-parted to check and restore lost files but it only made the situation worse, windows stopped working it won?t load at all. I?ve used this time to use anti-virus recovery disks again to properly clean his computer from any virus but now his windows won?t start and recovery management is inaccessible. I've trie... I have a Qosmio,F60-14Q, yesterday I got an error that "Windows detected a harddisk problem". I contacted Toshiba support who advised me to run checkdisk which I did and 1 bad cluster was found but the problem did not go away.

Then they advised me to recover to factory setting and back up before doing so, so I made backup and also made a recovery CD. Then i ran the setup which went smoothly but the Windows did not load and blue screen came.

It restarted again and asked to insert a CD so I inserted the recovery cd which lead me to the same place as where I ran the recovery originally from. The difference being it did not run this time when i tried?

I think it is not detecting the hard disk, any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Qosmio F60-14Q: Following recovery to factory settings, windows wont load?

Can you see the HDD details in the BIOS?
Check this? access the BIOS (press F2 while booting) and the HDD details should be mentioned on the first page.

If the HDD is not listed...well? then the HDD is faulty?

I'm currently using Windows ME but needed some software that would only run in XP so i decided to upgrade to Windows XP. the problem is that i can't get the installer to work.

the XP installer will boot and start to load files but will stop with the following error:

File ql10wnt.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 3540 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c

at first i thought maybe the disc had problems (scratches, dirt, etc) but when i tried it in my other PC, the installer worked just fine.

I cant get windows XP to load at all

Here's the problem......... On boot up I get a black screen and then a error message saying <WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPTED < WINDOWS ROOT>\SYSTEM32\ ntoskrnl.exe> please re-install a copy of the above file.

Windows wont load so I can not use system restore or even go into safe mode.
How can I get around windows and get this file " NTOSKRNL.EXE" into system32 folder without windows being able to load ???

Also I have a HP computer which did not come with a windows XP CD. XP is hidden on a partition on the hard drive.
So that kind of leaves out being able to use the CD to repair windows and using the Repair "R" key during bootup.

So how can I get into windows long enough to be able to repair the NTOSKRNL.EXE file ??
Any and all suggestions would be so much appreciated !!!!

I am using flight sim, I downloaded an addon file that is an exe.file, when I double click it nothing happens or starts. I tried downloaded the same file at work, that is Vista as well, and when I double click it works.

Funny thing when I view the iconat work it is the computer set up icon, at home it looks like a folder, when I right click it at home it says application (exe).

Any thoughts of why it wont load at home, some setting that is not up to date?

A symptom of this often appears as shortcuts become .LNK files where the .LNK extension shows up and none of them work.

Answer:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

HI

An annoying little issue.

The about a 5 days ago when i switched on my desktop it went to the RM splash screen as normal and sat there for ages before finally giving a beep and going back to the bios screen. It displayed all the drives as detected then at the botom said

Error 108
press (f4) for setup.

I went all through the bios and could find nothing wrong. Hit exit and got the following.

RM splash screen for ages then a black screen with (Video not supported) on the monitor.

After switching off i waited a little and powered on again and this time got a normal start up into windows.

However this has started happening every time i try to switch it on.

boot > RM splash screen for ages > beep > drives as detected then at the botom

Error 108
press (f4) for setup.

I have tried removing 2 blocks of memory and switching but this does nothing.

I can find no information on an this type of error 108 does anyone have any ideas?
What info do you need?

It is an intel micro Motherboard (can find out model)

Thanks in advance.

I downloaded Kapersky internet security 7.0. It was working good for a couple days, and then it identified some file that was named something like win32/winlogon.exe, as behaving suspiciously. So I quarantined it, and then the computer shut down, and when it restarted, it went throught that initial Windows loading page, and then right before I get to the part where I choose which account to log into the computer with, the computer restarts. I have tried to run the computer in safe mode, and done like all the options in that screen, like restoring last known settings or whatever. The only thing I didn't do on that menu was something where you type commands, and I dont know how to do that kind of thing, nor did I even know my password to start the process lol..

Some people have told me to try fixing Windows with the Windows Recovery CD that comes with the computer.. but I lost this a couple years ago when I moved. My computer is a Compaq Presario SR1135CL, I have Windows XP Home, with service pack 2. I contacted HP to try to get a new recovery cd but the person I talked to said he couldn't help because my warranty ran out. But he said if I paid 59 dollars, he could connect me to a technician who could solve the problem in a matter of seconds.. So I don't know if the problem is actually something very easy to fix or if he was just trying to scam me into paying for a service..

sorry so long, thanx for reading

Answer:windows wont load b/c missing system file

Winlogon.exe is used to facilitate logins/logoffs and is a necessary file. If you could find another XP Home disc you can repair the OS and that should fix it. Other than that you could try copying that file from a working computer and put it in the folder where it is supposed to be although i don't know if that method will work or not. And the HP guy was probably going to tell you to use the CD to fix it in a matter of seconds.

Hello,
I've broken my desktop pc and I've tried to sort it but my skills are pretty minimal so it would be great if anyone could give me a bit of advice or point me in the right direction.

Here's a description of what happened:
After using my pc I went to turn it off as normal but I switched off the socket too soon, as the pc hadn't finished shutting down.
When I went to restart it, it seemed to be ok but before it booted up properly i got this message.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM.
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

Unfortunately I dont have the original setup CD-ROM, but I do have a copy of windows xp home.
I booted the pc from this disk and I pressed 'r' which took me to the recovery console, I'm well and truly stuck here, I dont know how to operate the recovery console.
Does anyone know how I can repair my pc from here or is there anything else I can do?
Many thanks in advance,
Martyn

I also own a laptop, is it possible to connect the 2 pc's? I have alot of documents on the desktop that I'd like to recover.

First, wanna say hi to everyone. Loving the forum.

My problem:

I upgraded today from XP Home to XP Pro.
When the system rebooted I get this error "Not enough resources exist to complete the API". Then it restarts again.

I really dont want to lose the info I have on my harddrive.

Any ideas on how to fix this.

BTW... when I bootup in Safe Mode, it starts listing the commands and it stops on "btkrnl.sys"... then it starts to load the Safe Mode screen and reboots.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:XP Pro wont load after upgrade - API error

To recover the data, I'd suggest you consider something like the Ultimate Boot CD to recover any data on the hard disk before doing any more attempts to fix the O/S.

I'd then do a clean install of XP, upgrades of any sort are always less desirable than a fresh installation.

This is only happening on my Win7 computer. About 20% of the time, I'll either get "the connection was reset", or the page will only load some text.
If I restore to windows default host file, all is fine. Except of course I get the annoying ad popups and stuff.
My 2 other xp computers are using the same MVPS hosts file and the same web pages load fine, with popups being blocked by the hosts file.
This started about 2 months ago.
I tried Firefox in safe mode, no help. Internet Explorer does it, too.
I tried offloading firewall, no help. Rebooted router, no help. Reinstalled Firefox, no help.
I deleted all temp internet files, cookies, no help.
The only thing that fixes it is restoring to the default Windows hosts file.

The only way I can see my websites is to refresh over and over till they load. Might take 5 times, maybe 10.

Answer:Websites wont fully load with MVPS hosts file....

Alright I fixed it. I'm using F-Secure anti-virus (free from my isp). When I un-checked the "scan and remove viruses from web traffic" the problem disappeared.
I still have "real-time scanning" and "browsing protection".

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Answer:Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. XP Pro. 2GB RAM. Getting some sort of graphics error. I went through my processes this morning and found a trojan(sqlserver.exe) and ended the other programs that I knew didnt need to be running. Must of ended the wrong one...

It starts fine and right before its supposed to load the desktop the screen goes black and I get a LoginUI.exe winlogon.exe error. OK to terminate, cancel to debug. Then it goes to blue screen and says Windows load process error and I have to manually shut it down. I can go into safe mode(which is how im typing this)

Tried doing system restore back to yesterday but same problem. Going to try it again and try to back a little bit further. Did a Diagnostic test and it passed everyone but the Graphics one and said error. ATI Mobility Radeon X300 display adaptor.

Heres a screenshot from a few weeks ago showing what was going on with it. Main reason I went through the processes was because my CPU usage kept spiking. Got it down to 27 or 28 processes this morning and now this problem

Answer:XP - Desktop Wont Load, Graphics Error

JEEEZ!!! That's alot of running processes! WOW! Click Start > Run and type msconfig and click the Startup tab and start unchecking things. You can probably select 'Disable All'. If you still have a problem, go into the Device Manager and right click the Display Adapter and select Remove (be sure to download a new video driver first, but don't install it yet). Doing this will 'force' Windows to look for and install a replacement video driver the next time you boot up. So, after removing the Display Adapter, boot up in normal mode. Cancel the hardware wizard when it starts, then run the video driver install and reboot when done. Hopefully that will do it. You can then re-enable some of the items you unchecked in the msconfig startup list if you need them, but chances are, you really don't need all those things running in the background at all times, just the antivirus and other security programs, and that's about it. From looking at your processes, it looks like you have several wifi configurators running; you don't any. WinXP has wifi connectivity built-in. The process named 'WM-Desktop-Alert' is most likely a virus or "rogue-ware" (a fake antimalware program that looks legit but is actually a virus).

I was manually installing service pack 2 on windows vista because i was told this would sort out my problem with not being able to do any auto updates, then it got to the stage where it shutdown and was installing 1/3 updates then when it got to the 2nd part it crashed and when i restart the laptop nothing happens at all, just a black screen, no boot menu options or anything like that. I dont have a vista disc or anything like that, does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can solve this problem, sorry if my explanation was short and not very detailed.

thanks in advance

Answer:Vista wont load after update error

Um, I believe you will need some kind of disk. Specifically, you'd need either the Vista disc or the ERD disc. You need to launch a repair on your OS, as it seems to be screwed. Can you get into Safe mode? Can you get into the pre-boot menu at all?

Hello everyone,

I've just returned from my vacation and my home pc won't load windows anymore.
The computer is a special custom build pc which allows you to switch your harddrive easily when it's turned off.

The problem: When starting pc in normal mode and it tries to load windows (shows black screen with the moving green dots) it will black out and reboot. This only occurs when I'm doing so with my own harddrive, the other works fine.

Possible cause: My mom tends to leave the pc in sleep mode and probably did so before we left on vacation. We had guests visiting our house who tried using the pc and switched to my harddrive instead of my mom's (while pc was still in sleep mode) when trying to start the pc afterwards the above described problem occurred.

I've tried to use start-up repair which fails and shows the following error.

Problem Event name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385

Problem Signature 06: 8
Problem Signature 07: BadPatch
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

I've also tried to use system restore to different restore points but it fails without succes.
It says that an unknown error has occurred with Error code 0x800703f9.

Thanks in advance for the help

So my computer as shown in my Sig is setup a little funky. In the first sata slot on the mobo technically is the 80 gig, and the second slot is the 640. However the 640 is the C: drive, and has windows installed on it. The 80 gig was just a cheap HDD to have extra space for.

Now however i am trying to swap out my empty 80gig HDD for my new 1TB HDD. I am having a problem though. So i pulled out the 80 gig hard drive (which i made sure was empty BTW) and put in the 1TB drive. When i restarted my computer, it said "Hard disk error, wont boot". I went into the bios, and put in the boot list my 640gb in first place (hard disk boot priority) so it should see the 640gb first when trying to boot a Hard drive. Same error, wouldnt boot.

I used Ubuntu Live USB to boot into ubuntu and i looked at the Hard drives, it shows the 1TB , and it shows the 640gb, which when i open has everything in it like it should, including windows.

Whats going on? How do i fix this? Is it bad to correct my original mistake and pull out both Hard drives, and plug in the 640gb into the first SATA slot so its seen as the first HDD? Or thats not good to do once you have a established computer?

Just to be clear, what i want it to be working as: 640gb C: drive with windows on it so it boots into windows. E: drive will be a 1TB hard drive.

Answer:disk boot error..wont load into windows HELP!

First off, pull the 1tb drive - leaving only the 640. Will the computer boot off of that one by itself? If you put the 80 back in, does it work again?

My guess is that the 80gb drive actually had the boot manager on it - and just pointed to your 640 to boot windows. If this is the case, you just need to get that onto your 640...

I'll go digging for instructions - I haven't had to repair something like this in awhile. I think the "recovery" built into windows can repair it (if you boot off of the dvd).... don't quote me on it yet though....

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

Tried to recover to factory settings but this crashed out saying partition could not be created and only had an option to turn the laptop off.

Was bought from argos's ebay store less than 12 months ago and should still be under warranty but can not find out if it is on here.

Any help please ??

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what the problem is but maybe HDD make problems.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can check it.

At first clarify the warranty and I hope they will fix it for free.

Hello,

I have a Samsung series 7 from 2012 that originally came with windows 7 and I upgraded it around 9 months to windows 10.

One day my laptop was fine, the next it was stuck in the recovery screen with I believe a message of 0xc00000e9. I created a windows 10 recovery disc from the MS website and burned it to a DVD-r, and booted the disc and ran the startup repair and it was unsuccessful. The following error after that attempt was that a file in System32 was missing. I've tried also starting in safe mode and it didn't work either...same error message lol. My last attempt was trying to rebuild the BCD via command prompt and now the error code says the BCD is missing and theres not even the option of F8 to go to the menu that has safe mode among other various tweaks.

I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, and perhaps I should stop messing with it. Does anybody have some suggestions on what I should check and how to further diagnose this issue?

Thank you for reading and your time!

PLease can someone help I believe this a virus. Computer prompts for Windows Xp Startup Password that I do not know.

It says: This computer is configured to require a password in order to start up. Please enter the startup Password below. Below the space to enter the password you can hit ok or restart.

After unsuccessful attempts because I do not know the password a system error comes on the screen.

lsass.exe- System Error Which says: When trying to update a password, this return indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct.

This does not allow windows xp to open and the same startup password prompt box occurs in safemode. I have tried using the toshiba satellite l 25 s119 series recovery disk but to no avail, it not does work. Can anyone diagnose this for me? Thanks,

Last post for the day (promise).I'm attempting to uninstall a small game I no longer play but receive "Could not load initialization file".How do I get past this to uninstall the program?

Answer:Uninstall error: "Could not load initialization file"

You could try Revo Uninstaller. Here is how to use Revo Uninstaller: 1) First we download it from here: Revo Uninstaller Free Version. You can skip this Step if you already have it installed. However, you may need to update it. If you have it installed already, and you need to update it, go ahead and open it up and click the AutoUpdate Icon next to Help. The use of this program makes registry changes based upon what you select for removal from the Registry. Before running Revo Uninstaller please run ERUNT before proceeding to back up your registry in case you make a mistake. 2) Select the Program to remove from the list of programs and click the Uninstall button: 3) After selecting the program you want to remove, and confirming you want to uninstall the program, then you will want to select the Advanced Option: 4) Click Next. This will start the uninstaller for the application you picked. When the uninstaller is done, and it proves to be successful, and a reboot is required, then select NO and continue the below steps. 5) Follow the prompts during the uninstallation of the application. Once it closes you will be at this window: 6) Click Next again. Once the window is done scanning for files and other things that did not get removed, you will be presented with this window: . You will want to select only the bolded items, then click on Delete. If any entries-usually the last thing listed and not in bold-have a + sign click on the + until you see more bold... Read more

PC info from another thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/1014881-media-center-not-working.html#post8088791

The other day, a blue screen error appeared on my PC about ati2dvag/infinite loop. I looked online for help and came across a number of different forums. Most of the responses stated that possibly my driver needed updating.

From looking at the Display Driver in the Device Manager, I was able to see that I have an ATI Radeon X1550. I went to the amd website to update my driver and whilst doing so, I got a message saying it couldnt locate a specific file. Then the installation wizard appeared and I followed the steps but then I got a message stating that the one I have installed is not digitally signed and it could affect the performance. I had no idea what this meant but the warning message put me off so I cancelled it.

I then tried to open Media Centre but I was unable to watch live TV because I kept getting an error message the video card had an error or was not installed properly so I went back to the Device Manager and the icon on the first drive indicated the device had been disabled (red x) and the second driver indicated the device wasnt responding/working properly (exclamation mark in a yellow triangle) so I reinserted the installation CD and opened setup. It was successful so I tried to open MC again but I got another blue screen error.

When I tried to start Windows again, my PC was extremely slow. The icons that appear in the lower tray on the right... Read more

My computer randomly started displaying this error upon start up a week ago and I have no clue what is causing it. I googled it and seen that it could be caused by a linksys wireless router, one was installed on the system before, but has been uninstalled for quite some time now. Can anyone help me correct this or at least help me figure out what is causing it?

Answer:Load dll error - Can't load res_dll

Have you checked in your Startup items to see if it's listed there? It can probably be easily disabled.
Have you ever used msconfig?

Hello all. My name's Richard and I have a problem.  My U410 was stolen (bastards!) on Christmas Eve (double bastards!) but I had an old System Image saved on an external hard drive. So I bought exactly the same laptop second-hand intending to restore the image.  However, when I try to restore it via Control Panel, after the restart the computer tells me I have to do the restore process from a Windows System Repair disc instead, because it needs to reformat the drive that the Restore Environment is running from. Obviously, the U410 doesn't have a CD drive, so I made a Windows 7 64 bit USB restore drive, and moved the USB drive up in my boot list so I can boot from it.  This lets me get to the stage of selecting my system image from the external hard drive. The restore process starts for three seconds, then I get error 0x80042414: the system cannot find the drives onto which the image should be copied.  I've done some digging around and used diskpart to discover that the two internal hard drives aren't loading / aren't visible when I boot from the USB. When I run diskpart from windows I have four disks: the USB, the external hard drive, an 8GB one which I guess is the SSD and the 698GB HDD. When I navigate to the command promt in the Recovery Environment diskpart only lists the USB and the external hard drive. So I'm thinking that the internal drives aren't loading up for some reason when I boot from the USB. Is there any way ro... Read more

Answer:USB recovery disk won't restore System Image - U410 internal harddrives don't load? Error 0x80042414

Hi Richard, I'm sorry you had to go through some pretty emotional trauma with your U410 getting stolen and all. However, I do hope you are back on track now.  I haven't been as unfortunate as you. However, I need to restore Win 7 on my U410. I have with me the recovery disks purchased from Lenovo. My question is, were you able to get the image onto a USB disk to perform the restoration? If so, could you point me to some instructions?  Seriously, Lenovo ships laptop specific recovery images on optical disks for their laptops that do not have optical drives. Makes no sense to me. It's time they sell recovery images on USB drives.

Hi,

I was using outlook 2003 (xp service pack 3) and wanted to add an arrow to my text of my outgoing email, but the drawing toolbar was missing. I tried to find it but it was not there. Windows said it could "fix" the problem so I let it try. Whilst doing this it asks for me to install the original MO disk and I do not have it! (Note: my copy is legit)

Then when I clicked on Outlook it says "Windows Installer; Preparing to install" and then "Please wait while M configures MO Prof E 20003", then it say "suk011.cab missing",

so I went through the procedure to change the registry to O (zero) and now its says: "Error 1311 Source File not found: C\MSocache\all users\90000409.....etc bunch of numbers. verify that the file exists"

So either I need to find this source file or reinstall Outlook 2003?

If the latter please can you advise how I can do this without the original software or the product key. Can I ask Microsoft to verify that my software is OK and then ask them for a Product key or do I do something else?

Thanks for looking at this- Would be very appreciative of some help.

Hello,
I'm trying to re-install Windows Xp on my notebook using the recovery disk but I have some issues.
I've got a NB100 without a disk drive so I created a bootable pen drive when I copied the Recovery disk with a specific program.
I set the USB drive to be the first to be booted at launch, but when the recovery program begins I've this error:

"Stenv file X:\Setenv.ini or X:\tools\Setenv.ini not found!"

I tried to switch the "SATA Controller Mode" in the BIOS temporarily to "Compatibility" for the recovery process as I read o this forum but nothing.
Could anyone help me please?

P.S.:sorry for my bad english =P

Can you please tell us which program you used?
I don?t have this notebook model but recovery installation should be possible with external USB optical disc drive.
Cany ou obtain such drive and install recovery image using recovery DVD?

I mean it would be simplest way for recovery installation. This with USB will probably not work f this is not done with Toshiba recovery creator.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

I have Toshiba A100-147, just out of warranty. I have tried to recover with disc, the disc unpacks to 69% then I get message "ERROR READING FROM COMPRESSION FILE(1). I have no choice but to click OK in the error message box, then abandon the recovery as it stops running.

Any help would be extremely welcome.

Answer:Satellite A100-147 Compression file error with Product Recovery Disc

Hi

Looks like a problem with the Toshiba recovery CD.
Did you try to repeat this procedure?

How about the HDD? Did you format the HDD using an original MS XP CD?
It?s very interesting if an HDD format could helps to perform the OS installation from the Toshiba recovery CD.

I remember something like this happened on my friend?s notebook? It was not able to recover the OS using the Toshiba CD. Finally we found out that some sectors on the HDD were corrupted. The whole HDD format helped and my friend was able to install the Toshiba image.
It?s worth a try ;)

But of course this error could happen due to the faulty recovery CD.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad W520 with Windows 7-64 bit and am trying to connect to a NetGear PTV2000 Adapter for Wireless Display that works with other devices. When I attempt to run the Intel WiDi program I immediately get an error:  Unable to load the Intel My WiFi Technology DLL file. I have installed, uninstalled, and installed different Intel Wi-Fi drivers, ver. 14.3.1.1 to the latest version,  that do not work with the Intel WiDi program. Help resolvin this would be appreciated. Bob

Answer:W520 and WiDi Error: Unable to load the Intel My WiFi Technology DLL file

Version 3.5.40.0 is the latest Intel WiDi driver. If you are using the Lenovo drivers for your wireless adapter (Intel 6300 AGN?) I would suggest going to http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031109.htm and downloading the appropriate software from Intel. You should be using the Intel drivers for your adapter and the Intel WiDi driver/softare package. Uninstall the Lenovo drivers and then install the Intel packages. Let the board know if that improves things. Good luck.

When I try to upload video to Camtasia, I  get error message cannot load file no decoder was available for the following codec: xvid The video format I am trying to upload is avi, I even converted it to, FLV and still got same error message. I am running windows XP on my PC. I even downloaded video codec from Camtasia and did not help. I am using 30 day free trial for software.

Answer:Unableto import video to camtasia Iget error message cannot load file no decoder

Windows Media Player, WMP, is the problem.Thee are many free video converters. One oldie is Format Factoryhttp://www.pcfreetime.com/The Windows Media Player will refuse AVI formats that it can not understand. Use an alternative media player. One is VLC. (Video LAN)http://www.videolan.org/index.htmlNo need to think it is just your computer. WMP disappoints many users.http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Windows_media_player_11_refuses_to_play_your_avi_holiday_moviesJust try another media player. Even the Apple Quick Time for Windows.http://www.apple.com/quicktime/what-is/

Could scan all remote servers previously from same sources and version.  Replaced/updated all cabs and other files associated (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\MBSA\Cache) with no change.  Removed/re-installed
MBSA 2.2 with not effect.
Local scans appear to function fine, but do not wish to download MBSA on EVERY system we need to scan.
Settings for remote scan are: Check for security updates>Configure computers for Microsoft
Update and scanning prerequisites>Advanced Update Services
options:>Scan using
Microsoft Update only
Have attempted from different systems/OS's, with same results.  Checked firewall for any blocked traffic from both host and scanner, no entries.
Checked Technet/blogged for about two hours, without any positive results. Please advise/assist.

Answer:Using MBSA 2.2 getting error 'Cannot load security CAB file" when attempting to scan any remote systems

Thank you for sending this to the MBSA forums!
If you haven't already, you may want to check the MBSA FAQ located here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/cc184922 specifically under the sections titled, "How can I scan a computer that is protected by a firewall" (to resolve potential DCOM connectivity issues), and "When attempting to scan a remote machine,
why do I see the error 'Cannot deploy security metadata?"
This is also a very misleading error message since the problem could be due to connectivity to the target (client) machines - nothing relating to the CAB file.  In any circumstance, you should not need to install MBSA on all of the target machines to
successfully assess their security state.

Possible solutions include

Confirm the latest WUA client is installed on all target machines (with the files you've already placed in the cache directory, you can simply check the scan option to "Configure computers for Microsoft
Update and scanning prerequisites" - which will update and re-register each target machine with the latest WUA client and the ability to respond to requests from MBSA.
Check whether the target machines have limited disk space (unlikely) Check DCOM settings on both the server - but more likely due to the failure to remotely scan - the target machines.
Change the scan options to further troubleshoot.  Specifically, 'Check for security updates' option uses a DCOM connection ... Read more

I just got FEAR-Perseus Mandate, (PC game-Windows XP) installed it, typed in my keycode, and launched the game offline. It said to load the disc but it is loaded. I ejected it reloaded it and launched again to the same result. When I'm online and double-click the FEAR shortcut it says "Webpage cannot be found". Anyone know what's happening here?
Thanks.

Answer:Please Load Disc- but disc is loaded

You may just have some dust on the disc, have you tried cleaning it ?

And welcome to TSG
