Error Windows 8 not installed - upgrade issue on Satellite C855 PSKCCE

Question: Error Windows 8 not installed - upgrade issue on Satellite C855 PSKCCE

Hello, I tried to update from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I followed all the instructions deleting all the apps asked but, unfortunately, I received an error message from Windows 8 (Windows 8 not installed).

My computer is a C855 (PSKCCE) I saw supported on the list of Toshiba products for the upgrade.
Is something special to do (e.g.; delete antivirus or other special programs) before the upgrade?

Do you have any suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can anyone please explain why Toshiba does not list my laptop for upgrading to Windows 10 ?

I have the tile on the system tray saying i`m in the queue and it might happen in the next few days or weeks.

So why isnt my laptop on the windows 10 upgrade list if i have the tile saying i`m in the queue ?

First time poster.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Answer:Satellite C855-1TC Not listed for upgrade to W10 ?

Official Toshiba policy is not known to me but I presume there must be some kind of “dead line”. It is not possible to support so huge number of different notebooks models. Support means OS installation, drivers and functionality test. It is pretty much to do and you need big team for all this activity so I think just newer models will be supported.

Few years ago we had the same situation with Vista and Win7 support.

So, I've just found an i7-3610QM, which will fit the Motherboard of my laptop just fine (rPGA 988B).

The only thing I don't know is if the CPU will actually work if i install it. It'd be a waste to buy it and find out it doesn't work when i put it in the laptop.

If someone from Toshiba could tell me, honestly, if the BIOS is locked down to one CPU or not that would be great, as I could use having 4 cores and 8 threads instead of 2 cores and 4 threads.

My only other concern with it is the motherboard power delivery. The power delivery is currently running a CPU rated for 35w, which under the most strenuous of loads only draws about 26. Could it support this new chip if it works, considering that it's TDP is 45W (so the running wattage may be around 37-38W). Cooling shouldn't be an issue at all

Hi,

I?m looking for some advice. I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-17X laptop, broke the original charger so purchased a universal charger with interchangeable heads and continued to use my laptop no problems. Charging was fine, battery life fine also.

My son broke that charger so I ended up having to buy yet another new charger so decided to go online and purchased the actual charger for c8 notebooks on Amazon. The problem is as soon as I unplug this charger my laptop turns off. It will only run while plugged in.

It says that the laptop is plugged in and charging however remains on 0 %.. Any help?
I am pretty certain it can?t be the battery as it worked fine less than a week ago before my universal charger broke. Frustrating.

Answer:Charging issue on Satellite C855-17X

>. The problem is as soon as I unplug this charger my laptop turns off. It will only run while plugged in.

I assume this issue was not noticeable using the previous charger? right?
So I think its charger problem? possibly its not compatible.
I recommend using the AC adaptor from Toshiba. Such parts are fully compatible? you should also known that usage of wrong adapter may damage the units?

I?ve had two of these in for repair now. It seems "0" for recovery doesn?t work, nor does it find a system image for recovery. One of them refused to make recovery discs and the other sees the drives but says they r empty??? But made recovery discs.

This seems like a hardware problem
Has anyone else had this?

Answer:Recovery issue on Satellite C855

It seems "0" for recovery doesn?t work,

You want to recover the notebook using HDD recovery?
HDD recovery is possible ONLY if the HDD and the partition has not been touched previously!
In case you modified something on the HDD, the HDD recovery would not function anymore.

Answer:Satellite C855 can't boot from Battery after upgrade W8 --> W10 Home

Hi Repairlab

You're not alone. I currently have a Sat C50 with the exact same issue, with the exception of upgrading. My problem began before I upgraded to 10. Like you, I can boot with the battery out and using the mains, but that's rubbish for a laptop.
I did want to upgrade the bios but the laptop doesn't recognise when the battery is connected and the bios update tool keeps asking for it (VERY annoying ToshIba if you ever read your forums).
I've been trawling through these forums looking for a solution but there are 0 replies on the vast majority of posts. Not even ToshIba engineers seem to have a presence.

Anyway, did you ever get the issue resolved and if so can you please share?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I was Just wondering, I own a Satellite c855-s5133 and I want to upgrade my hardware to make it faster and more compatible with new games and programs.

So the question is what is compatible with the model and what can i upgrade to make my computer bettter.

P.s. i have already upgraded the ram to 16gb, and I don't really care if i am over doing it.

Thanks
DOCTORMAN

Answer:Satellite C855-S5133 - hardware upgrade question

Hi

To be honest you are very limited if it comes to upgrade the notebook?s hardware.
You have already upgraded the RAM. That?s OK.

You could also switch from HDD to the SSD drive. This would improve the notebook performance since the read and write process would be much faster. Also the notebook would boot faster and would run much smoother.

But to be honest, for gaming purposes such upgrade isn?t very helpful.

To get better gaming performance, you would need a better graphic card but the point is that GPU upgrade isn?t possible.

Which OS is preinstalled on it?

I tried all the other options. It says came up were windows is installed the drive is locked and unlock and try again. How do you unlock?

Also the laptop was preinstalled. The laptop didn't come with the disk
How do you find your product key code?

Its not on a label on the laptop. Just Windows 8 home sticker,
Typicaly, warranty run out month before grrr.

I can borrow a friends windows 8 disk but I need my key no so frustrating
Im no techno fob just need advise please.

Thanks amanda

Answer:Satellite Pro C855-1TC boot error - backup does not work

The laptop did not come with any disks because there was a possibility to create own recovery medium (USB or Disk) using the preinstalled software called Toshiba Recovery Medium Creator.

If you don?t have such disk, you order this here:
http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Now back to your issue:
Press power button and then F12
Now you should see some bootable devices. Last option is HDD Recovery.
Check if you could recover the notebook using the HDD recovery option.

Regarding the images on your disk.
Well, its possible to remove the HDD and to connect this HDD to another computer using external USB-SATA caddy. This allows you to move the pictures to another computer.

Note: this needs to be done before running the HDD recovery process.

I've made a BIG mistake! After having Satellite's for years, I recently bought a C885-1WR but didn't notice it came with Windows 8.....and I HATE it :(

Can I install Windows 7 on this machine?
If so, how do I do this, please?

I have very little technical knowledge, so easy answers please.
I would be eternally grateful for any help.

Thank you so much
Polly

Answer:Can I install Windows 7 on a Satellite C855-1WR?

Of course you can do that.
You can install Win 7 if you want.
Firstly you have to go to BIOS (press F2 while booting)
In BIOS disable secure boot and switch from UEFI mode to CSM mode.
Save the changes and now you could boot from the Win 7 disk and could start the installation.

But just one important note: read you user manual and create the recovery disk BEFORE installing anything on the notebook. The recovery disk help you to go back to Win 8 in cases you would like to use it again!

Hello,

So I go to the drivers download page of toshiba, and I look for display drivers for my laptop.

I have 3 results : two drivers for Intel video card (one for Windows 7 and other for Windows 8), and only one for AMD on Windows 8.

I try Installation of AMD drivers for Windows 8 on Windows 7 pro 64. Installation works and finish but my video card is not recognized, and I can't launch Catalyst Control Center.

Hello

Is there a manual to do?

A greeting

Answer:Install Windows 7 in Satellite C855-2KN

Hi

At first I must say that it is very good that you have started this thread before you have done anything. I have checked Toshiba download page and your notebook is supported for Win7 64bit. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities are there.

Before you do anything please create recovery media (DVD or USB) using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. Later if you want to have Win8 again (factory settings) you can use created recovery media and install recovery image. This is very important.

After Win7 installation start to install important drivers at first. Start with chipset driver, rapid storage driver, display driver, sound driver, WLAN driver, card reader driver.

Later start with Toshiba specific tools and utilities.

If you have more questions you are welcome.

Hi, I've recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite C855-1TV. It's my first laptop (also first Toshiba product ever) and I'm extremely happy with it. However, I'm having troubles with the webcam. I have Windows 8 and I'm only learning how to use it (used to have XP so things are much different for me now).

Windows 8 has the Camera application (which like most of its apps I don't like) and the cam works fine when I use the app, but there has to be another way to get to the webcam and I can't figure it out.

Going to Start > Search: "camera assistant" doesn't produce any results.
Searching "Camera" only finds the Windows app.

Is HDD listed in BIOS?
It should appear on the first BIOS page providing the details about the HDD size and name (part number)

If this isn?t the case, the HDD might be faulty and therefore the system cannot be booted up.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba satellite c855 with windows 8 preinstalled.
My laptop has recently been plagued by the 'your pc ran into a problem' crash loop.
I have nothing on it that I need, all pics are backed up on several memory cards. I have tried to reset, by pressing 0 whilst powering up. The problem is thay it doesn't give me the option to reset to out of box state.

It just asks if I want to delete all data and partitions or if I want to rewrite partitions.
I have no idea what these mean, however if I choose delete all data and partitions will it erase windows 8?
And if so, as I didnt get a disc with it on and it was preinstalled how do Ireinstall it?

I have looked on ddisc . management and it says I have 2 healthy recovery partitions one at 400mb and one at 1gb. They both say 100% free.

Can someone help me on how to restore to factory settings without loosing windows 8 and without the disc as it didnt come with it.

Answer:Windows 8 factory reset on Satellite C855

In user?s manuals is clearly described how it works. Every notebook owner should create recovery DVD or recovery USB media using preinstalled ?Toshiba recovery media creator? tool.

I recommend you to do this at first, before you start to do anything else. Please let us know if this works.

Anyway, how to recovery Win8 machine you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm

Answer:How to install Windows 8 on Satellite C855-21W - No disk

Hi

This is pity but HDD can always start to malfunction and therefore it?s advisable to create a Recovery Disk before starting to use the notebook.

However, now you cannot create such recovery disk because the files are lost.
Now you have two options:

1) You can install the Windows 8 using Microsoft Win 8 disk (you will need to purchase Win 8 if you don?t have it). The essential Toshiba drivers could be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page

2) The second option is much easier: you could order the Toshiba Recovery disk from this page http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and could set the notebook back to the factory settings.

I am trying to install Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite 855.
At present we have Windows 8 installed. The computer runs from approx 5am to 11pm with no obvious issues. e.g. no "blue screen of death"
Safe boot is disabled and boot mode changed from UEFI to CSM.
The computer boots correctly from DVD drive and the message "Starting Windows 7" appears and then the logo.
After a very short while the computer goes quiet i.e. no sound from the drives and appears to hang and nothing happens. (we've left it on for several hours just in case)
Different Windows 7 disks have been tried with the same result.
We have also tried swapping out the hard drive altogether, and replacing it with a new drive to no avail.
The computer is now back running Windows 8 with no obvious issues, but we want to run Windows 7!

Hello,

Helping a friend to buy his first laptop, and having myself had 2 excellent Toshiba laptop earlier, one beeing still on my daily uses, I just proposed him to buy one of your products.

He wanted the last windows (I use Linux), why not.

So currently we face a problem with this laptop!

After some minutes of setup the touchpad vanished.
We can still use a mouse, but you'll agree that it's not working as intented.

Tried:
Went to the system preferences of Windows 8,
Went to the devices & drivers screens, selected the touchpad drivers,
Selected downgrade of Drivers (went to a ... 2006 version)
Selected then Upgrade Drivers (went to a xx/xx/2012 version)
Touchpad was then re-working.

Next reboot after some Windows 8 live updates:
Touchpad not Working.

Could you please fix that ?

Softwares installed:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Mozilla Thunderbird
- The Gimp 2.8
- Inkscape

My Satellite C855-1GN will not load Windows.

After pressing start it say starting windows the four colours appear in the centre of the screen and seem to slowly pulsate but goes no further to load.

I?ve restarted and run system fix but it cannot fix the problem, run system restore but no luck either.

Can anyone help?
I don?t really want to reload the discs if it?s not needed as daughter has loads of uni work on it.

She may lose it.

Answer:Satellite C855-1GN does not boot up the Windows system

Hi

Are you able to access the ?Advanced Boot? menu by pressing F8 while powering up the unit?

If you are able to do that, you should try to boot the notebook using one of the options available in ?Advanced boot menu?.

You can try to boot the notebook using the ?the last good known configuration? or you can try to repair the system automatically selecting the ?Repair my Computer? option, you could try to boot the unit in safe mode in order to get access to the important data on the HDD.

Finally (after data backup) I would recommend to recover the notebook using the Toshiba recovery medium

hi

I have purchased a new latop (toshiba satellite) windows 8 original pre-installed,
however, I wanted to repartition my hard disk and without paying attention I have deleted the recovery partition, as a result, the laptop could not boot.

So I asked a professional if he could get my laptop to its original factory condition as it was when I bought it (with windows 8 original pre-installed ...) in order to sell it later, and he told me that's impossible since I don't have the recovery disc ,and the only way to get it work is by installing windows 7.

I've poor knowledge in computer staff that's why I had not make a copy of a recovery disc.

Now, as I'm planning to sell my laptop, I'm wondering if there's a possible way to sell me the recovery disc that allow me to backup my laptop to its factory condition (with original windows 8 pre-installed and pre-loaded software of course), and the estimated total cost that I will pay.
p.s:

*My laptop information is:

I have also: product code, serial number, LAN MAC, WLAN MAC
Eather way, thank you for your support... looking forward to hear from you soon

Hi All,

I know that the laptop started out with W8 and with 3 partitions (Recovery, System & Main C Drive) and all were showing in a Healthy state.

When I upgraded to W8.1 quite a while back it created another Recovery partition which in essence is fine but I had a few issues with my laptop and used the Toshiba Recovery options to 'Refresh' my laptop and in doing so created another partition but this time it's 8GB!

Now the Refresh did not help so now I have completed a full 'Reset' of the laptop back to Factory Settings and expected the 2 additional partitions to be deleted as I though this 'Reset' option re-formatted the Hard Drive and but it back to an Out-of-the-Box state.

Can I delete the 2 extra partitions? or should I have chosen a better option to wipe the laptop to a brand new state?

Thanks - Jason

Can I delete the 2 extra partitions? or should I have chosen a better option to wipe the laptop to a brand new state?

Question: did you create the Toshiba recovery medium (disk or USB flash stick) in the past?
Before trying to delete any partitions from the HDD, I strongly recommend creating such recovery disks!

After that you can try to delete these partitions or could set the notebook back to factory settings!

An external USB mouse operates well.
The touch pad somehow operates when I continuously push on the touchpad left buttom...
The diagnostic Tools do not notice any issues.

Do you have any idea on how to solve this issue?
Thank in advance for your educated feedback!

For the past week or so I have been experiencing a previously unencountered audio related problem with my Toshiba Satellite C855-2FC (windows 8 OS).

I've had the machine since mid February but it has only been recently I've found that whenever I attempt to play media files through any player - primarily Media Player Classic with CCCP codecs, VLC and iTunes but also when streaming video and audio online - whatever I am watching/listening to will occasionally experience a buzzing and that for a brief moment it jams on a moment of audio/video in the same manner as shown as in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF9Pvdsz0UM
(not my video or on the same make of machine but the symptoms are exactly the same)

While it is immensely distracting it does not happen especially frequently - though the timing is not entirely predictable I found that when listening to a podcast it would occur roughly every forty minutes - I will post again after attempting to time it when playing video.

Each time it has happened I have already had task manager ready and waiting but so far I have not noticed any jumps in CPU or anything on the performance tab or anything that would stick out as being abnormal.

I am lost as to what to do about it and what could have caused it - It suddenly started happening so I thought there might be a possibility of a windows update or some such thing causing it to happen, but upon checking my audio driver status in device manager I saw that the o... Read more

Hi

There are some comments on youtube page regarding this video and some people have already solved such issue. But it was not always the same solution.

One user solved this running HDD defrag and this helped so far?

The other users used an software called malwarebites pro.
It seems that this software an cause some delays while plying the audio.
Do you have such software?
If yes, uninstall the malwarebites pro check how it will work.

On a TOSHIBA Satellite C855 with an AMD Radeon HD 7610M graphics card, I get repeating problems when installing the Windows 8.1 (64bit) update "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3- AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series".

During the install of the update, the notebook reboots and only a restore option is available.
Every single time this update causes a reboot and restore.
A very miserable situation.

Does Toshiba know why this happens, what is the solution?
Microsoft update recommends this update for Toshiba users.

Does Toshiba have any official advice on how Satellite users should apply Windows updates like these?
This problem is ongoing since late december;

Hi,

This Toshiba laptop won't recover itself using the built-in tools.
I've tried Reset the PC, and Restore to Factory defaults, however both fail telling me 'there was a problem'.

I'm thinking I want to wipe the hard drive and manually re-install Windows 8 from a proper USB stick, however I can't see the Windows 8 product key on the underneath of the machine. Is it tucked away somewhere else?

Also, if I do re-install manually, is it possible to re-create the recovery partition?

Many thanks,

Answer:Satellite C855-2F1 - internal Windows 8 recovery tools not working

Hi

I guess you want to recover the notebook back to the factory settings.
To do that you have two options:

1) You would use the internal HDD recovery procedure:
Details here: [Windows 8 Recovery & Repair |http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm]

2) you would use the Toshiba Recovery Media creator in order to create firstly an recovery medium (Recovery disk or recovery USB flash stick)
Then the booting the notebook using such medium would start new OS installation and would install the Toshiba image. This image is already activated and does not need any serial keys.

Hello to all forum users.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P70-B-102 laptop with the operating system Windows 8.1 in Portuguese.

The problem I have is that I can not upgrade to Windows 10, since, according to the application Windows upgrade, the computer can not update Bluetooth drivers, including the following: Bluetooth RFHID, RFBNEP, RFBUS and RFCOMM.

This situation remains for at least a month and a half and I can not update the windows to version 10.

Someone can help me solve this problem?

Thanks for your precious help!
Pedro Moura

Answer:Satellite P70-B-102 - Bluetooth issue upgrade to Windows 10

This is very strange… i think this must be some kind of Windows bug… i would recommend you to check whether all Windows updates and fixes are installed…

Furthermore the unit is listed as a Win 10 upgrade supported model, therefore Win 10 upgrade should be possible.

The unit is listed here: http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swup...spx?region=TEG

The Win 10 driver can be downloaded and updated from this page:
http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swup...spx?region=TEG

but in case the Windows 10 upgrade using the automatic upgrade procedure would not work, try to upgrade Windows 10 using the media creation tool

Good afternoon all,

Can you please help with the below?
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro R50-B-12U laptop.
It was purchased in December 2014.
The hard drive has failed completely so I have had to fit a new one. This was a little disappointing as the laptop is not very old.

I have re-installed Windows 7 64bit pro from a recovery disc which is what the laptop came preinstalled with but on trying to enter the product key which I have obtained from the laptop using a software recovery solution, I am unable to register it with Microsoft. I am led to believe that this is due to the fact the key is an OEM key used by Toshiba.

The laptop was delivered without any Windows recovery/ installation cd’s.

Please can you assist and advise on how to get this operating system registered with Microsoft?

I would rather not have to puchase a new W7 product key as the above is a legtimate issue.

Many thanks

Answer:Need new HDD for my Satellite C855-1RL

You can buy new HDD in every computer shop. What you need is 2,5” SATA HDD.
In my opinion you should now think about upgrade and buy SSD that will offer more performance and make your notebook to run much faster than before.

Hi everyone,

I have used a Satellite 2410-SP203 for the last 10+ years or so.
It never failed and at this time it is still working, except for the hinges that cannot hold the screen any more due to normal use wearing.

Of course it only runs Windows XP and has serious limitations for nowadays software.

So, I decided to purchase a new one and found the Satellite C855-18D suitable to my needs.
However, I would like to know what you fellow users think about that model reliability.

Thank you

Answer:What do you think about Satellite C855-18D

Hi

Well, generally speaking, its not bad.
Its equipped with an Intel? Core? i5-3210M Processor, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD, Toshiba TruBrite? HD TFT High Brightness display and Intel? HD Graphics 4000

But if you want to play some high performance, new generation games, I would recommend to purchase an notebook which would be equipped with an ATI or nVidia GPU.
The internal Intel HD GPU is not really goo option for gaming.

Hi,

According notebook specification this notebook model has PENTIUM B960SP CPU inside (original configuration) and I don?t know where you got other info about i3.

Ok so my laptop, Toshiba satellite C855-21C had died. Officially it's GPU.
GPU glued to motherboard, pretty much a dead end. But as I don't really give up I was searching for solutions. And then 3 random services came up with 5 compleeeeetely diff solutions contradicting each other therefore I am turning to you forum people.
I wanted to, if possible, change the whole motherboard. I mean, the GPU that died is pretty much glued on the motherboard so the new motherboard should have it glued too if it's the same exact model.

Here comes my question. Anyone has ANY idea how can ik which motherboard I have? Can I get it from Toshiba? Is there info on it ANYWHERE? Im quite desperate... if you put your lappy to hands of 3 diff technicians and they all tell you... Different stuff it makes you feel quite desperate?
The last one said it's not even possible to change the whole motherboard because even if I do the graphic card is broken ... Uh what? Didn't y say it's glued to it so getting new motherboard with new card would solve it? Suddenly there is some problem with HDD that you and other 2 pros claimed to be completely fine. WTF?
Please anyone has more experience in this field?
My whole problem is that the GPU died, it's not replaceable, only whole motherboard is. The motherboard is expensive but I find some with approx 70-120?. I am student and I won't be able to afford new, decent laptop as this one was in next 5months for sure

Thanks anyone for any information on this.

Hello

I don't know what do you want to do exactly. HDD can be formatted before you install original recovery image that you got with your machine but also if you want to install own OS version.

If you have created recovery disc you can format HDD using one of the offered options (erase the hard disk) - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm
In case that you want to use Microsoft installation disc at the beginning of setup procedure current HDD will be shown. You have option to delete existing partitions, create new partitions and install Windows OS.

Please let us know what do you want to do exactly.

Hi all,

The HD in my wife's laptop is making some clicking noise advising of an inminet crash.
The disk is a Hitachi SK750-640, HTS54756A9E384, CP/N H2T640854S.
She wishes a larger HD, of some 1-2T or so.
I have seen several Toshiba models but they require 5VDC 1.0 Amp or 1.1 Amp while the Hitachi reqires only 5 VDC @ 700 mA.

My concern is whether the motherboard could or could not handle the increased current drain.
If anyone have replaced the original HD by a larger one, I'll be happy to hear his/her opinion.

Thanks

Answer:Re: HDD replacement for Satellite C855-13T

Hi Luis

I don't have this notebook model but I just want to write my opinion about HDD exchange.
As I can see HDD exchange on this notebook model should not be complicated.
All you must do is to remove big HDD/RAM cover and you will have full access to old HDD.

In the past I have exchanged several HDD on my notebooks without any problems. Different HDD manufacturers on different notebook platforms. I think 1TB HDD would be OK for upgrade.

I don't know which aspect is important for your wife but maybe you should think about SSD upgrade. This could increase notebook?s performance rapidly.

We also have a 3 years old Satellite 350D with half the memory, slower CPU and graphic card and it runs much faster.

A more professional example: When running the anti-virus check of Trend Housecall, the old PC does this in about 3 hours. A new one with less than half the data on it, requires more than 6 hours.
In system settings I changed yet the option from better graphics to optimal performance without any remarkable result.

I looked a lot in a numbeer of settings without results.
Note also that we do not load a lot of programs at startup.
Please Help

> We also have a 3 years old Satellite 350D with half the memory, slower CPU and graphic card and it runs much faster

Well, I don?t think that your Satellite 350D has Win 8 installed ;)
Hardware configuration is important but also the preinstalled software can affect the performance.
So if you want to compare notebook?s / computer?s performance you should ensure that both machines would use the same OS, the same tools, the same software.

I think there are many processes which are running in the background.
This could slow down the system.

Finally an HDD malfunction can cause such delays too? so maybe the HDD fitness should be tested?
I test my HDD using an free tool called Drive Fitness Test

hi,
I've a GPU problem with this Satellite C855 that mount a H000052630 mainboard.
If I try to install video drivers (no matter about operating system or clean installation) that system hung up or crash.
I tried different solutions as:
change CPU
change RAM
BIOS update
and final a GPU chipset reflow
with any success.
So I tried to search an identical mainboard but this exact model its almost impossibile to find to any seller.
Could I looks for a H000050770 that mount the same Intel 988B Mobile chipset and has tha same exact form factor and ports of the H000052630?
My cpu is a CPU is i5-3230M and honestly I don't see any other hardware not comatbile between the 2 mainboards.
Thanks.

The AC Adaptor model number is PA3917U-1ACA.

Answer:Need AC Adaptor for Satellite C855-1TG

I don't live in UK and cannot help you directly but if you use Google search and AC part number I’m pretty sure that you will be able to find some online shop where you can order it.

At last but not least I would like to mention that you can contact nearest Toshiba service provider ands order original AC adapter for your notebook model.

Hello Everybody.

First time on forum hope you can help me

When im using laptop and close lid to go into sleep mode.If I open lid up again occasionally it has turned itself off completely and I have to turn computer on and it comes up in safe mode.

Battery is fully charged
Thanks

Answer:Satellite C855-1GP keeps turning OFF

Hi and welcome to our community.

It is not easy to say why this happen. Before notebook goes into sleep mode many different background processes must be stopped. We don't know what your OS configuration is so it is not easy to say if some process can be responsible for this.

Can you please test it with hibernation mode and post some feedback?
It would be interesting to know if the same problem occurs again.

One more thing: does this issue occurs from the first day or you have noticed it later?

PLease can you help me?

My computer fan started to overheat at 90% , even says sometimes to shutt it down
Don't know what to do, my computer is pretty new less than 1 year. bought jun 2012.

can you help?

thanks

Answer:My Satellite C855-17C fan is overheating 90%

On this virtual way we cannot say what the problem can be but maybe your notebook must be cleaned-up. We don?t know how do you use it but after almost a year it is possible that pretty much dust can be inside and if the cooling grill is blocked with duct notebook cannot be cooled down properly.

What you can try is to use compressed air and try to clean the cooling fan and cooling grill.
Other way you can contact Toshiba service and they can make professional cleanup (notebook will be disassembled and cleaned).

By the way: make small test. Start notebook and enter BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and check if cooling fan will start to run after few minutes.

Having had several attempts at trying to install various software, Microsoft Fixit program has scanned and found that my PC has faults with USB points.

The screen read: "Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed".

It also listed the following...
"Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller 2936"
"Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller 2939"
"Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller 293C"

Any idea how I can fix this please?

Computer is Toshiba C660-1JH Satellite.
OS is Win 7, 64-bit.

Answer:Satellite C660-1JH: USB Device issue - software not successfully installed

Hi

Try to remove the USB ports and hubs from the device manager.
Reboot the unit and wait until Windows OS has reinstalled all USB controllers once again.

If this does not help, update the chipset driver because chipset driver controls the USB controller.

Here you other thread about chipset driver;

Installation stop and I could not do anything, I restarted the upgrade but still the same.

I have just received my DVD win7 upgrade from Toshiba, is the DVD corrupted or some other issues, before the installation a message appears that I should uninstall ATI Catalyst install and ATI catalyst control panel.

Needs help from expert who have already done the upgrade.

Hi

> before the installation a message appears that I should uninstall ATI Catalyst install and ATI catalyst control panel.
And why you didn?t do this?
Maybe you are running an older version of the display drivers and so you have to uninstall them before you can start the upgrade.
Check this!!

After the successful upgrade you can install the newest display driver version from the Toshiba page.

Hi,

My laptop has a strange power issue which i'll break down in the following steps:

1. When the laptop is plugged in and switched on, the battery will not charge properly. It continuously flashes between "charging" and "not charging" and doesn't charge the battery at all. However if the battery is above 95% this issue does not occur.

2. When the laptop is plugged in and switched off, the battery charges normally.

This issue only occurs while the laptop is switched on meaning if i want to charge the battery I cannot use the laptop at the same time.

I've tried a number of suggested solutions: I've done a factory reset and I've updated my software (I'm currently using Windows 7 64bit).

Thanks in advance for any help!!

On the driver/update site there is only for win 7 a driver for the cam... is there a fix to let work the cam on win 8.1 or where can I get a correct driver for win 8.1?????
Hope someone can help or give me a answer why there is no driver solution for this built in cam

Answer:Satellite C855-27L - missing Wecamdriver for Win 8.1

Hi

Have you upgraded your machine following instructions from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/ ?

Generally speaking webcam driver for Win8/Win8.1 doesn't exist and device uses Windows drivers. That?s the reason why you cannot find it on Toshiba download page.

Some key is dead on my keyboard, it's not a real problem, except for enter

My computer is off when the battery was discharged, and now I'm stuck on the recovery menu: I have two choices, but I need to validate necessarily with the enter key, there is no automatic choice after some time, and keyboard plugged into a usb port does not work;
I can not use the key I reassigned it does not take into account, and I can not, in the menu F2 , change the boot device order to add the USB keyboard, because I must confirm with "enter".

I don't know what I can do to pass this menu

Answer:Satellite C855-1JN - Some keys are dead

In case the same issue would not appear using external USB keyboard, the key problem must be related to the internal keyboard fault and to fix it, the internal keyboard must be replaced.

Hi. I hope somebody can help. I've had this Satelite C855 for a few years now and it has never given me any problems until I got Windows 10. Since then the sound volume has gone very low. I have been on the control panel and set everything to max. Made no difference. Tried to download Toshiba audio drivers, but ran into another problem. The Toshiba EUROPE website does not have a driver for Win 10. So I tried some Win8.1 drivers, but these don't work for Win 10. Then tried drivers from the US, but they don't support non-US macines. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-12x (3 yrs old) with Pentium B960 processor and recently the dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7610M showed signs of failure (colored lines and squares, image freezes, etc).

On the intel website it says that the Pentium B960 processor has integrated graphics.

The question is how do I enable the intel hd graphics on the processor to continue using my laptop without the dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7610M?

The Intel HD graphics doesn't show up in device manager nor bios. The bios is from Insyde Software and I have the latest version.

Hi All,

I have a problem for some time already - sound was coming only from headphones jacket, no from built in speakers.

I have replaced the headphones socket but still the same. When checking settings in Realtek Audio Manager I can see that laptop still has bold icon under headphones, even if they are not plugged in, which means it is probably cutting off speakers constantly.

Does any of you have similar problem and how did you manage it?#

So I bought my Satellite C855-15U a while ago and everything was fine. Now I'm slowly getting a heat problem and the laptop was shut down several times while playing games, so i decided to clean the cooler (I already did this several times with other laptops).

So I wanted to disassemble the laptop. I tried it a few times, but i wasn't able to get past a certain point. It seems to me, that it is impossible to completely disassemble the laptop, since some of the parts are put together with some really strong glue or something like that... Is there any way to do it? If yes, I would like to see some sort of manual. If not... well, i could try to clean the fan with a compressed air can, but I don't think it would be that effective.

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

Christopher

EDIT: The period of the guarantee has already ended, so sending back the notebook is not an option

Answer:Satellite C855-15U cooler cleaning

At first I must say that notebook disassembling is always risky and something can be damaged, especially small plastic holders. So everything you do is on your own risk.
Anyway, maintenance manual is not a public document so you will not be able to have it. We can try to help but can you please tell us on which point you have this problem?

Have you been able to remove the keyboard?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem with my keyboard? Basically I've had this laptop since June 2012 and had no problems with it until I started using Word not so long ago (I'm currently in night school).

Basically, when typing a report, it's as if the keyboard has developed a mind of it's own.
The laptop will randomly copy and paste the last few words I typed over and over until I stop it by pressing escape. This is very annoying when trying to do any form of work.

Also when opening PowerPoint the other day, there was a very fast beeping sound as if a key was being held down - even though I wasn't touching the keyboard.

I've also noticed the same thing in Windows explorer, where the address bar will constantly scroll down as if someone is holding tab or clicking on it extremely quickly.

Strangely though, this issue doesn't happen in any browser. I haven't spilled anything on the laptop since I've had it and have not come across this issue before.

I've been looking around online and there seem to be several theories as to what could cause this issue:

The trackpad is too sensitive - I have since disabled the trackpad and bought a wireless mouse. This has not fixed the issue.

Windows 7 itself is the issue - I doubt this as it only happens in certain places.

Toshiba have oversubscribed certain buttons with extra functions and this is causing confusion - I have tried to disable the keyboard an use an external keyboard,... Read more

Answer:Satellite C855-10Z - keyboard issues

This is new notebook model so in my opinion you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They should check it and find solution.
It is nice that you want to exchange some experiences on the forum but I think you should not waste your time and contact Toshiba as soon as possible.

Hi,

I have just purchased a Toshiba Satellite C855-29N. I'm trying to run virtualisation on it but running into the following issues:

On VMware Player;
This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.
This host does not support Intel VT-x.

On trying to enable Microsoft Hyper-V platform:
Hyper-V can not be installed. The processor does not have the required virtualisation capabilities.

The BIOS settings for Virtualisation Technology is set to VT-x only(other option is "disabled").

Although the laptop was advertised as an i3-2350m, it actually shipped with an Intel Pentium B960 which some 'googling' suggests that it doesn't support VT.

I hope someone can advise me if I have any chance of running VMware or Hyper-V on this laptop as I have a short window in which to return it if it proves unsuitable.

Cheers

Answer:Virtualisation support on Satellite C855

As far as I know all you can do is to change settings in BIOS and use offered options. Not more than that.

Hi

All grey then it comes a light blue screen up with text but i cant read it beacuse
It disappear To quick then the toshiba logo comes up again and it starts over
Again!

Please could Someone help me?

Answer:Having problem with starting the Satellite C855-2EU

I think you are speaking about the Blue Screen of dearth (BSOD) and the notebook hangs somewhere in the loop.
In my opinion this loop can be caused only due to hardware problems.

I don?t think it?s a software problem because Windows 8 includes a recovery feature called Automatic Repair that attempts to automatically diagnose and fix common issues that may cause Windows 8 to not start properly. Automatic Repair will start automatically when Windows is unable to start properly. Once started, it will scan various settings, configuration options, and system files for corrupt files and settings. If it detects anything, it will automatically attempt to fix them for you.

Did you change in the past something in the hardware configuration?
Maybe some memory upgrades, etc??
