Preferred Solution: Cannot install Windows 8 on Satellite L750 - CPU compatibility issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Cannot install Windows 8 on Satellite L750 - CPU compatibility issue

The internet provides some details about this error message.
It seem that in order to install the Win 8 CP the CPU should support PAE/NX/SSE2 features

Never-eXecute Bit ( [NX bit|] ) allows marking of memory pages as non-executable.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is a previous standard that is supported by Intel and AMD CPU. Therefore all CPUs that support NX would also support SSE2 too.

Usually enabling the XD (for Intel CPUs) or NX (for AMD CPUs) in BIOS should disable this error message.
But if this is not available in BIOS then either the CPU does not supports this feature or the BIOS does not support this option.

According to Intel Ark page the Intel Core i3-380M supports Execute Disable Bit. So possibly the BIOS does not support this feature

It seems you need to wait for new BIOS

I bought a Toshiba L750-1RJ laptop and I would like to know what CPUs are compatible with my laptop?

Thanks advanced,

Answer:Satellite L750-1RJ - CPU compatibility

As far as I know the Satellite L750 series was equipped with different CPU units.
The supported CPUs are port of the Intel Arrandale Mobile Processor family.
The supported CPUs are:

Intel Core i7-620M
Intel Core i5-540M
Intel Core i5-520M
Intel Core i5-450M
Intel Core i3-360M
Intel Core i3-350M
Intel Core i5-430M
Intel Core i3-330M
Intel Pentium P6100
Intel Pentium P6000
Intel (988P) P4500

But note: usually CPU upgrades are not supported by any of the notebook manufacturers. So in case you want to perform such upgrade, this is always your own risk.

I looked at the other threads in the forum, but all of them suggest to try the drivers (function key) for other laptops, the only way for it to work now is to uninstall function key driver; but the problem is the wifi and Bluetooth will always be On after booting laptop from shut down or hibernate.

and please don't say the laptop is not listed in supported models for update,
i'm really disappointed in Toshiba why did they support update to windows 8 and not 8.1

since 8.1 was free upgrade all laptops with windows 8 should have drivers.
it was better to leave it at windows 7 altogether if they were not going to support full heartedly.

and another problem completely unrelated is the DVD drive scans for disc every 10-15 minutes even if its empty this problem was there from the first day on windows 7, after I installed windows 8 it stopped but after upgrading to 8.1 it came back again,

is there a solution to this problem?
currently I just disable the DVD drive from the device manager and enable it when I need it. sorry for the long post but I hope you'll reply thank you.

Answer:Satellite L750 - Flash card issue after Windows 8.1 update

>... but the problem is the wifi and Bluetooth will always be On after booting laptop from shut down or hibernate
The same happen on my Win8.1 supported notebook so I?m wondering it is problem for you. If you don?t need WLAN just enable airplane mode.

Unfortunately about DVD scanning I cannot say much. I have two notebooks with Win7 OS (original factory settings) and none of them do such scans. Have you installed some additional software that could be responsible for this? Do you use original Antivirus that you got with your notebook?

I have a little problem with my computer, Toshiba Satellite L750.

Whenever I turn on the computer, the sound will only work for 4 or 5 minutes on internal speakers.

After this its cut off. But what's weird is that the gauge keeps moving, doc there has sound does not come out. For the moment, the sound works fine when I connect headphones or external speakers.

I tried a lot of solutions. I even installed Linux on another partition. Anyway the speakers will shut down after a while.

Answer:Sound issue on Satellite L750

On this virtual way it is not easy to say why this happen. If there is no problem with headphones or external speakers somehow I think there must be some technical problem.

Maybe sound cuts off due to defective cable connection.
Tis case must be investigated so I think best solution for you is to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help.

Hi! I have a new Toshiba Satellite L750. I use it mainly for MS office, especially word and excel. I do a lot of copying and pasting text, usingn ctrl-c and ctrl-v.

I've noticed on days when I do a lot of copying, suddenly, the compter acts as if the ctrl key is stuck. The keyboard doesn't function correctly, so for example if I type 'c" it doesn't type the letter but rather performs the function as if i pressed ctrl-c.

My mouse still works, so I can save and shut down. When I restart, the problem is fixed, temporarily. This happens about once a day!

i called Toshiba support and the first two techs had me restrat and rpess F9 to reset the settings. The third said it's a 'sticky key' and I need to send the computer in for repair. I really hesitate to do that!

Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you so much! Jennifer

Answer:CTRL issue on my Satellite L750

In my opinion everything is OK but maybe is RAM overloaded and result is this annoying issue.
> When I restart, the problem is fixed, temporarily.
I think this is evidence for my theory. With the time memory will be overloaded and problem occurs again.

To be honest I do the same all day but I don?t have such problems. Ok I don?t copy a lot of stuff.

I've just bought a Toshiba Satellite L750 notebook. On first turning the machine on battery indicator said 'plugged in, not charging. So after browsing forums I found I had to update the BIOS which I did and now the battery charges. BUT I only get about 1 1/2 hours battery time before it runs down to 10% and i'm told to plug into A/C power.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

For me these or not issues i should be having on a 2 day old machine.

Answer:Battery Issue on Satellite L750

you can configuration the power manager for more time in the battery mode.

use eco mode or balanced, it is also helpful when you set the display brightness down.

But it is also about what you do, now if you have applications that much power of your machine then that?s good 1 1/2 hours.

What should I do? I still have warranty.

How do you use your notebook while gaming? I mean is your notebook placed on the desk or maybe on the bed. Can notebook be cooled down properly?
Do you use it with AC power supply or battery only?
Which power plan do you use when you play games?
Do you use maximal level for graphic settings in game itself?

Have you tried to change anything to take load off?

After installing the battery from the fan (speed 0%) falls regardless of whether mains operation.

The CPU overheat and the notebook comes out spontaneously and can be only after few seconds on again.
Once I rausnehem the battery la?ft the fan again (about 70%) and cools the CPU.

According to PC Health Monitor battery health "good" (battery 1 year ago purchased new).

I have a problem with speakers: every once in a while my speakers just like turn themselfs off.
I realized it happens when I play games or watch something on youtube.

When that happens, if I plug headphones in, there is sound on them, so I think that it's not the sound card, also if i restart laptop they (speakers) work normaly.

All my drivers are updated. I had another problem with speakers a while ago, my right speaker didnt work at all, but laptop was in official service center and they fixed that by replacing the speakers.

Can my curent problem be conected with last one?
Does anyone have any similar experience, and/or any sugestion how to fix it?
My warranty expired, so I'm affraid if i take it to service I'll have to pay a lot (and everything is a lot to unemployed student :) ).

Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite L750-1MW - Strange speakers issue

Hi, since a few days I'm starting to have the same problem.

It seemed to start when playing Guild Wars 2 (a problem more people have that's being discussed on the forums over there) that my audio would suddenly stop playing while i played the game (not just the sound of the game but also itunes if I had it activated on the background).

I always assumed it was Guild Wars related, but now it happens with everything.
Whether I'm watching a video on youtube, listening to youtube on itunes or watching a series with a media player.

I think it's something with the speakers since my earplugs work fine and when i plug/unplug them (even in the microphone slot) the speakers work again... for like 5 minutes or so.

Any clue?

I bought new WiFi module from ebay and Intel 7260 supports 867Mbps wifi speed (in theory) and Bluetooth 4.0.

Wifi works perfect but problem is Bluetooth device doesnt shown in device manager, i tried to install driver but there is no change...

Then i figure out, in real world, "i dont need bluetooth, i need WiDi"!

Real problem is Windows7 cant see IGP (Intel HD Graphics 3000 @ i3-2330). I tried to install WiDi software then installation didnt start and says "Your graphics driver and device are not compatible". Yes because i have nVidia gt520 and it will be supports "nVidia Optimus" then i get latest nvidia driver but there is no change.

I need my own Cpu's IGP to install WiDi Software,

please help!

The WLan seems to support WiDi as shown on the Intel ARK page:

But to use the Intel WiDi some these system requirements are necessary:
[What are the system requirements for the Intel? Wireless Display (WiDi)?|]

Furthermore I recommend checking this document:
[Are there known issues when using Intel? Wireless Display (WiDi)?|]

Furthermore you should update the Intel software to the latest state:
? Intel HD Graphics Driver min. revision
? Intel PROSet/Wireless Software min. revision 15.5.6_e(64 / 32)
? Intel WiDi driver min. revision

*Important notice for users of Wireless Display (WiDi):*

Hi everyone, i got notebook that have dead motherboard.
its detail
Toshiba Satellite L750
Part no: PSK2YA-0T902V
SERIAL: 20155402W
DC 19V- 4.74A
motherboard no: A000081570 ZB316754W
i checked online and there are many mobos with like A000081450, A000082100, A000080830 and about 10-20 different ones.
All of them saying they are meant for Toshiba Satellite L750 L755!
These are different numbers to suggest that they have different configuration related to GPU and VRAM or their brand like NVIDA or AMD types, i guess.
My question, are they all meant to fit physically in all Toshiba Satellite L750 ?? have any one got experience of such mobo replacement with another board.
Will appreciate if someone can offer me any advice, as exactly same mobo not available for me, so i am thinking to put another similar one.

Who told you that you can install recovery image from HDD?
In user?s manuals document is clearly described how to recovery your machine and there is written that you must create recovery DVD.

Anyway, long time ago I saw one interesting thread about similar problem. I don?t have time to search it now but you can use advanced search option and try to find it. I think it must be somewhere in recovery options forum category.

Alright guys

I have got a toshiba satellite l750 that I brought from pc world a couple of months ago and I have a few problems.

For some reason when I save a document under my documents section of windows 7 it saves it fine and shows it there. But when I restart the machine it's gone completely of the machine.

I have had this a few problems so I am thinking of wiping everything of the computer and start a fresh brand new install.

However I don't have any windows disc that came with the laptop, just the winodws 7 key on the back of the laptop.

I am wondering if I use my windows 7 disc for my pc on the laptop but with the key on the back of the laptop it will work fine?

I'l just thought I double check because the sales guy at pc world told me no it wouldn't

Answer:Satellite L750 - Can I do a brand new install?

How about reading the user manual?
There you could find the info that recovery disk can be created using the Toshiba Recover Media Creator software preinstalled on the notebook.
Additionally there is a HDD recovery available which allows you to recover the notebook from HDD.
But recovery disk should be created too in cases something would happens with your HDD partition.

Hi all,

Recently I have been having problems with my Satellite laptop charging.

The laptop is running Win7 64bit and is a Satellite L750 PSK2YA - 0LN028

Now the problem isnt that its not charging but that it chooses to charge and not charge when it wants. With the laptop plugged into AC power on a genuine Toshiba charger (19.48V 3.96A tested) the laptop will charge for a minute or so normally with the animated icon (moving) in the tray saying "Plugged in, Charging". THen suddenly the animation stops in the tray but it still says "Plugged In, Charging" 2 lights on the front of the laptop will start to flash amber simultaniusly ( Power on and Battery NOT AC light) and the computer will then proceed to drain itself of battery and then shutdown with no warning (With AC plugged in).

This will happen under highload AND simple webbrowsing. The inbuilt Toshiba PC Health program says my batter is "good" and that CPU Temp is not over 70% and Fan is working as it should. When I remove and replug the AC adaptor it will stop flashing and start charging for a minute then do it all over again.

I have tried removing and reinstalling the Battery Module Controller through Device Manager and Reset BIOS by disconnecting all power and holding the ON switch down for 30 secs, both these methods do not fix my problem.

The computer still works on AC if the battery is removed and the only peripherals I have plugged in are a USB mouse that is NOT plugged... Read more

There are two different versions: v and v2.2.0.12

Are you able to repair the system using the Windows own repair options?
I guess you use Win 7 as this system was preinstalled by Toshiba.
Power up the unit and press F8. Here you should choose the first option called ?repair my Computer?.
Now you should be able to choose between several options. I think you should try the first option which allows you to repair the system automatically.

If this option does not help, try to set the system to the last good working configuration/state

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L750/L755 and I have been having some problems starting up windows after using the toshiba recovery tool/disk

So this is what happened:

I reached maximum capacity on drive C: so I started transfering data to drive D: it was too slow so I canceled it, that's when the computer froze and I had to shut it down manualy.

I couldn't get it back on so I used the "toshiba recovery tool" to get it back on, it worked; the problem was that the computer toke half an eternity to finish loading windows, so I used the "toshiba recovery tool" again, and ended the same. I also tried to run a registry repair, check for volume errors, nothing seems to work.

I will welcome any help

Answer:Satellite L750 slow loading windows

Did I understand this correctly? The notebook boots up very slowly. Right?
From my own experience many different processes start while booting up the notebook.
You can check the msconfig -> Startup tab

In many cases these are Toshiba processes which control different notebook features like multimedia buttons, FN buttons, ECO power mode, etc?
Also an antivirus software slow down boot process.
What antivirus software do you use?

I use the avast! and Avira antivir software. Both can be downloaded for free.
I remove the preinstalled Symantec Norton Antivirus software because it needs a lot of hardware resources and slow down my notebook extremely.

Hello dear colleagues,

As the title says, I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-128 code PSK30E. It has a 2nd generation Intel i5-2410M processor.

Laptop running fine and all, but I recently got a nice deal on a newer laptop, with overall lower specs, but a better processor. It is a DeII Latitude E5530, with a 3rd gen Intel i5-3230M.

Going on Intel's site, I saw that basically both processors have the same TDP of 35W, and same package size, both run on HT and have dual cores, the only difference being that the architecture changed from 32nm to 22nm and the frequency is higher.

Also, 2nd gen supports 1066/1333 MHz memory, and 3rd gen supports 1333/1600 MHz. My memory is 1333.

Of course, as you guessed, I intended to swap the processors between the two laptops. Upgraded the BIOS on both of them, then replaced processors, re-assembled, and at start-up, surprise: The DeII recognized the older version of i5, ran fine and all, but the Toshiba didn't.

It just opened when I pressed the ON button, but the screen remained black. Then I pressed again the button, it shut down as normally. (I repeat, BIOS already upgraded, as somebody recommended). I disassembled again the Satellite, checked if everything is in place, and second start-up time still the same.

Then I got annoyed and swapped back the processors onto their original Laptops. And, both of them are running just fine.

So if somebody came across this problem could you please advise if you managed to sort it o... Read more

Answer:Satellite L755-128 - CPU compatibility issue

I don?t know any notebook manufacturer who would officially support an CPU upgrade.
Mostly the CPU upgrades on notebooks are your own decision and nobody could provide you an confirmation that an notebook with new CPU would work or run properly.

Indeed many people try to update the CPUs and in many cases this works? also on Toshiba notebooks.

But there are some important notes:

1) you have to ensure that the chipset on the motherboard would support new CPU. In case it doesn?t, you cannot use it

2) even if new CPU would be supported by chipset, there is still open question about the BIOS support. BIOS is modified for each notebook series and it could be possible that some CPUs would not be fully compatible or supported by BIOS.

As you see, the CPU upgrade is not very easy and it?s no matter that another notebook which was equipped with the same CPU as the L755 supports the other CPU? there are much more factors which could affect such upgrade.

this is my first post.
I upgraded my Toshiba l750-a218 laptop to windows 8 and i have been facing some problems (hiccuos).
i waited for the upgraded drivers and they were released on 21,22,23 this month and they had no solutions so this is what i noticed on windows 8

1. The function keys flash cards are gone. i tried every TVAP available for windows 8 and flash card support utility for other laptops but its not working. the falsh cards dont appear on the screen but all the keys work, except i can;t turn bluetooth and wifi on/off separetely.

2. bluetooth drivers: i couldn't find driver for this laptop so i used atheros bleutooth filter of another B series toshiba laptop which comes with windows 8 and bluetooth driver. now its working.

3. computer turns on when opening lid even if its shut down or hibernated. installed toshiba hardware driver i saw an option to turn on pc when opening lid tried both on/off no change

4. graphics nvidia used drivers from nvidia official site sleep and charge has changed to shut down and charge probably related to problem #3, i turned usb sleep and charge off from the bios.

6. synaptics i used official drivers from their site

other than that everything works fine.

Answer:Satellite L750-A218 - Windows 8 problems and solutions

>except i can;t turn bluetooth and wifi on/off separetely.

This is how it work in Win 8

>2. bluetooth drivers: i couldn't find driver for this laptop so i used atheros bleutooth filter of another B series toshiba laptop which comes with windows 8 and bluetooth driver. now its working.

Yes, some Win 7 drivers works in connection with Win 8

>3. computer turns on when opening lid even if its shut down or hibernated. installed toshiba hardware driver i saw an option to turn on pc when opening lid tried both on/off no change

Here you should perform a complete shutdown in Windows 8
In Windows 8, when shutting down a computer, actually a hybrid shutdown is performed by default.

a few days ago I bought an used (about 3 years old) Toshiba Satellite L750-1WW notebook.

The only matter with it is, that it has Windows 7 Professional, and of course corrupted, but the original OS was Home Premium. This laptop will be my mother's, and I don't want (and she also) to get messages every startup: "This copy of Windows is not genuine" and other stuff.

Another thing: there is no recovery partition! I couldn't make a simple system recovery...
However there's a Product key for Win7 HP 64bit on the bottom of the PC, it does not work on any kind of Windows 7 (Home Premium -Ultimate - Professinal, 32-64 bit), I have tried every possibilities.

I asked Microsoft Community to give me help about reinstalling the original operating system.

They told me to tell my problem to Toshiba, because only the manufacturer can reactivate the system, or reinstall the original OS.
So now, I ask You for some help.

Answer:Satellite L750-1WW - OEM Windows 7 home premium reinstall

>Another thing: there is no recovery partition!
Obviously the previous owner has modified (formatted) the HDD and the partitions table and therefore the recovery partitions isn?t available anymore.

The serial key which you can find at the bottom of the unit does not work in connection with the clean Microsoft Windows OS. It?s a OEM key and belongs to the Toshiba preinstalled system.

If you want to get the original preinstalled OS, you could order the Recovery disk. The recovery disk would set the notebook back to factory state.

Here you could get such disk:

I upgraded to Windows 8, after a short while I found the DVD wasn't displayed in windows explorer and devices. I had seen this before on another laptop and installing the Win 8 SATA drivers seemed to cure it.

I have gone to the driver section on the Toshiba site for this model and there are none for SATA. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix or the Win 8 SATA drivers for this model please?

Hi There

Apologies if this question is in the wrong part of the forum but I need help with a battery problem for my Toshiba Laptop.

I have a Satellite A300 and have done for about 4 years.
The battery recently has not been holding charge and I put this down to age so ordered a new one online.
My previous battery had Model Number PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh and my new battery is also PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh.

The problem is that the computer doesn't seem to like it.
If I put the battery in and connect the power adaptor the red battery icon will show and remain for around 5 minutes before starting to flash.
When I turn the computer on and log in the computer displays 'battery not detected' in the battery icon on the toolbar.
I have not been able thus far to charge the battery.

What am I doing wrong ? Any ideas on how I can get around this ?

Any help gratefully received

Answer:Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility issue

First of all there are no many things which need to be done if you replace the battery.
The new battery should be recognized automatically by Windows system and notebook.
If it?s not the case then the battery is not fully compatible or it malfunctions.

There are many batteries on the market; original parts and not original parts?
I recommend buying an original Toshiba batter from Toshiba service in your country.
In such case you can be 100% sure that you have bought an right and good part for your notebook.

I have two windows 7 install, reinstall all sound driver repeatedly, but same problems.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite L750 - Windows 7 audio service crash randomly

For me this issue looks more like Microsoft Windows system issue (probably sound driver) and therefore I recommend you to check the MS support community for possible solutions.

I found this interesting post in the MS forum:
[Windows Audio Related Crashes|]

According to the 2nd post, the sound driver reinstallation should fix such issues.
In case this workaround would not fix the sound audio problems, I recommend roll back the system to the early point before this issue started to occur.

In worst case you would need to recover the notebook using recovery disk but I guess you should try the workarounds recommended by MS

Has anyone ever tried installing a SanDisk SSD to a Toshiba Satellite laptop or know if these two in general are compatible or not?

I am specificially looking into insalling a 240 GB SanDisk Ultra II SSD on my Toshiba A200-1BP, or PSAECE-01U00XTE, to replace the existing 160 GB Toshiba 2.5" SATA HDD (MK1637GSX).

The SSD seems to have the right form (2.5") and the interface (SATA) but I am not sure if these two are enough to ensure compatibility. Unfortunately, SanDisk says (unlike Crucial for example) it does not provide compatibility information for specific computer models. Thank you.

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 but I have lost the wireless driver and cannot download it from anywhere (unless you know better). Also I lost Internet Explorer. When I tried to download it the system said I have an updated copy although God knows where it is.

My question is - can I roll back to Windows 7 which I was quite happy with?

Answer:Satellite L750 - Windows 10 - can I roll-back to Windows 7?

Hi Quananas,

Inter Explorer is now known as Edge. In regards to rolling back to Windows 7 you can do this by pressing Windows + I, going to Security, and there should be an option under backup for 'Roll Back To Windows 7' - please be aware this option is only available 1 month after the update, so if your past that 1 month that option won't be available and you will have to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 7.

You can also check here for Windows 10 Drivers. If they are not available you could try uninstalling the device driver software in the device manager, rebooting and letting it automatically reinstall, this sometimes can also solve this issue, just make sure you are connected to the internet via an ethernet cable when you reboot!

Hope this helps,

I have two computers that are running Win XP Home and one that is running Win Xp Media Center Edition. Will I have any problems upgrading the Win Xp Media Center Edition?
Currently I'm trying to upgrade the system with Win Xp Home. It has a Gigabyte AMD AM2 Socket (GA-M57 SLI-S4) motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+, 4 GB of ram and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
I ran the windows 7 upgrade adviser on the computer and then someone suggest I also run the vista upgrade adviser as well. On both it is telling me that there is a problem with "Windows Aero Support". I've seen lots of posts stating it will run on their video card but I have not seen anything on mine and need to know if I can upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without a problem. My video card is a NVidia Geforce 7900 GTX. Does anyone know if that card will work with Win 7?
Then also it is telling me that my D-Link DWA-130 Wireless USB adapter is a problem. I went to their website and they have Vista drivers but not Win 7. Someone suggested not downloading the D-Link drivers but downloading the vista drivers and that it would work. I have little knowledge regarding Win 7 and therefore didn't know if this was good advice or bad advice on downloading the vista drivers. Hi, Nancy. That upgrade thing makes video mistakes all the time. Your video card and motherboard, in this case, will run Windows 7 with Aero very well.

If the USB wireless adapter has Vista driver, then it will work on 7 as well. You may need our help here to get it to run, but it's no sweat.

Now about Creative. There is a hobbyist named Daniel K. that has made much better drivers for the card. Creative, in plain English, is horrible. With Daniel K.'s driver, you shouldn't have any problems running this card. The Creative game port is for pluggin in midi devices and/or gamepads for games. It is probably not needed by you, since the motherboard itself most likely also has this functionality. Anyway, Daniel K.'s driver should fix that too.

I have been unable to install sound and wireless drivers

I'm downloading drivers from the Toshiba driver website, putting it on the laptop and running the install. First the driver extracts, then a windows message appears asking if I want to run program, I click yes, then nothing happens.

Even if someone could use Double Driver (a program that allows the backup of drivers) to backup the drivers and email them to me, I would owe you a massive favour.

I've also tried install Windows 8.1, but the exact same thing happens

On this forum you can find many threads with similar theme. In my opinion you must optimize preinstalled operating system. Remove from the system all stuff you don't need, disable all useless applications from start-up and disable automatic windows update. This can be the first thing you can do.

Of course you can upgrade RAM to have more powerful machine.

This follows up from the post "Satellite L750-16Z DVD Drive erratic behaviour".

The endless dvd drive clicks for no reason were resolved by disabling the Toshiba PC Health Monitor from startup in msconfig.

Now, if I go into Windows Media Player and play a saved .wmv file, the DVD Player will click when a .wmv file is played normally just the first time. I think this may have something to do with the settings in Windows Media Player as VLC appears OK. Any ideas?

I could try to completely uninstall the PC Health Monitor - but before doing this I noticed that my version is but the one on the Toshiba site is and there does not appear to be a to download for my model in case I wish to reinstall at a later date.

As an interim measure I have disabled the DVD drive in device manager. I am also wondering if it is possible to disable the DVD player from the BIOS? This isn?t an ideal solution, but should save the drive in the long term.

Seems you are talking about this thread:

>Now, if I go into Windows Media Player and play a saved .wmv file, the DVD Player will click when a .wmv file is played normally just the first time. I think this may have something to do with the settings in Windows Media Player as VLC appears OK. Any ideas?

Not sure about that but it could be related to WMP if this appears only using the WMP.

>I could try to completely uninstall the PC Health Monitor - but before doing this I noticed that my version is but the one on the Toshiba site is and there does not appear to be a to download for my model in case I wish to reinstall at a later date.

I assume this is the same version? however, on the Toshiba driver page you will not find older version than preinstalled on the notebook. so you will be able to download always the newest version?so don?t worry about that? you can uninstall this tool ;)

PS: DVD drive cannot be disabled in BIOS

Hello everyone

Recently I fell asleep next to my laptop and I rolled over and my knee hit it, then it froze, restarted and now it won't boot up.

When I turn the laptop on it comes up with the Toshiba loading screen as normal but there are two options at the bottom. F2 or F12. Both of these send me to to screen where I can change my BIOS but I'm not sure what to do here, on pressing each of the loading techniques on the BIOS they all conclude in a black screen.

Can anyone help me please :)?

Answer:Satellite L750-170 is not booting

Problem is that there is no much you can do about it.
What you should do it to enter BIOS and set it to default settings. That?s all with BIOS.
Can you see listed HDD there?

When you start notebook using F12 can you see boot menu with listed bootable devices (HDD, CD/DVD, USB)?

Maybe is HDD defective?

I?m wondering why you cannot choose the ODD as booting device?
Usually after pressing F12 you should get an boot menu on the screen.
Can you see this?

Press power button and press F12? you can press F12 several times in the row to ensure that F12 has been entered and recorded properly.
Furthermore press F2 should allow you to access the BIOS.
The F2 button should be pressed also very fast immediately after pressing the power on button.

You know, it is not easy to give proper answer to your question. In my opinion original BT software should not be the problem. Maybe some additional application is troublemaker.

If possible try to end some running processes in task manager and check if shut down is OK. Maybe you will find out what is the problem there.

The problem is that Windows only see 746MB and I can?t format the full hard disk.

What can I do?

Answer:Satellite L750-114 see only 746MB of 3GB HDD

You have to format the HDD before installing the system.
The best way to format the HDD would be the usage of external USB-to-SATA- controller (enclosure). Connect it to the 2nd computer and format the HDD using NTFS file format.

You can also boot the notebook using Gparted Live USB stick

Then you should be able to format the HDD and to create single partitions on this HDD.

I have recently acquired a Satellite L750 laptop which has an issue where it will not power on but annoyingly it teases me by working perfectly on rare occasions to it seems to me as though there is some hope for it. When I press the power button the power LED will turn on for a second or 2 then go off again, the fan does not spin up at all and neither does the hard drive.

I first got it working by holding the escape key while pressing the power button, I was able to access the BIOS menu but I left it overnight after that. In the morning it failed to turn on again, this time it stayed powered on (i.e. fan, HDD and lights were on) but it didn't seem to POST correctly as there was no hard drive activity or anything on screen. This was fixed by relocating the only RAM module from one slot to the other, after this it was working perfectly again and I was able to use it for about 4 hours with no signs of any problems what so ever until I shut it off.

24 hours later the laptop is back to it's original problem where only the power LED will turn on for a second then the whole thing shuts off again. I have tried the escape key thing as before, relocating the ram several times, removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes but nothing works. I have removed each component one by one and tried powering on but the problem remains. I have swapped the RAM module with a known working one. The power supply appears fine even when under a 10 ohm load. There does not appear to be a... Read more

Answer:Satellite L750 will not power on

Firstly I thought it could be a memory problem since the first attempt to relocate the RAM module has helped to get the notebook back to life. But since the usage of new good working modules did not solve the problem, I think the issue is related to motherboard fault.

This is of course only my personal opinion but I think you know that only some few parts could cause such problems. It could be an faulty motherboard, CPU as well as graphic card.
Possible RAM issue has been already excluded? so probably it?s a affected motherboard?

What do you think?

I have a big problem!
My Notebook Satellite L750 makes a lot of trouble to me!
It started about 6 months ago.

Sometimes it boots sometimes it won?t!
To turn it off is not that easy because no one knows if it is in sleep mode or really off.
So I pulled the battery out and also the power supply.

Now if pressing the power on button it seems that the notebook is booting but nothing really happens.
Then I have to cut power again and wait a for about 20 minutes and then it maybe will start!

When it does not start it will not go to bios either!
Then I decided to check the harddisk.

So I build it out and hang it on a desktop PC as a secondary drive.
Then I started scans with HDtune and Crystal disk info and and... no errors were found.
Now I tried to repair windows 7 but everytime during the setup process it hangs up with BSOD 7b or F4 or or.....

Now I decided to bring it back were it was bought because it was at this point 9 months old.
After a week of waiting they told me that the repair would cost me 600?.
But it was still under warranty!!!!

They told me that the at one of the RAM slots one latch was broken and in this case toshiba would not offer warranty anymore.
First point is I just don?t know why one latch was broken?!!!

Second point is that this is not the error source!
Because there are 2 RAM?s built in with 4GB each.

When I pull the one with the broken latch out of the slot the same errors are occurring.
I think... Read more

This sounds really crazy mate.
I mean the notebook is 9 month old and the warranty is still valid.

In my opinion the described notebook behavior is not software related issue?
Therefore I see just one real option for you:
Get in contact with an authorized service provider in your country.

Here is a database with all ASPs worldwide:

Pick the one responsible for the your country and explain the whole story and issue.

I can tell you about my issue with notebook from another manufacturer.
I bought it and BSOD appeared only if the AC adaptor was connected and only if an html page has been opened... crazy!!! I could not believe that.

So asked the service for help? they checked everything and finally say said it was a mobo issue? well, replaced the part and after that it was ok.

Just wondering if Satelite L750 (PSK2YA-0S402S) will support a single 8Gig RAM chip?

Answer:Satellite L750 - 8 Gig RAM Question

Good question.
Usually if there are two Ram slots it will be recommended usage of 2 x 4GB RAMs.

According notebook specification your notebook has 4GB RAM inside and one free slot for additional memory modules.
Buy compatible 4GB RAM and use max supported RAM.

My laptop fell to the ground. HDD was damaged. No bootable.

I only could recover HDD recovery folder from L: (partition recovery). Did a copy of HDD recovery folder on another PC and then the HDD was completely unreadable

I do not have recovery discs.

How can I recover OS from HDDrecovery folder ? (Already bought new HDD)

Thanks for your help

Answer:Need help with recovering Satellite L750

Unfortunately you cannot start recovery image installation from folder. It works a bit different.
All you can try is to read and check if you can somehow create recovery media following the instructions described there.

You should be able to upgrade to any socket G2 Sandy Bridge CPU that matches power draw with yours, including dual core I7. See here:

Not sure about Ivy Bridge.

I've lost my HDD and I cant go into anything except for F2 and F12.

Please help

Answer:Satellite L750 - Can't find HDD

That means the HDD is not recognized in BIOS anymore or how to understand that the HDD is lost?!

If the HDD is not recognized anymore you have to replace it and install the OS again. Satellite L750 is pretty new notebook model so I think it?s under valid warranty and if you contact an authorized service provider you can get a new HDD for free. Just contact the guys and ask for help, they will replace the HDD for you.

Do you know where you can find nearest ASP?

Does anyone know how I determine if my new Toshiba Satellite L750-03C044 supports the enhanced speed of USB 3.0?

It has three USB sockets - two on the right of the case and one on the left by itself. All three sockets are coloured black, not blue as I might possibly expect for USB 3.0 support.

All three sockets are marked with the USB trident logo. The one on the left is additionally marked with a lighting bolt log.

Can someone please advise. Many thanks.

Answer:Satellite L750 - Support for USB 3.0

I?ve checked specification and there is written that your notebook has 3 x Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports so I?m afraid there is no support for USB 3.0.

This model suffered from a few things which lasted from when I bought the laptop in 2011 until last week:

- Constant clicking from the DVD player (This could only be disabled through the device manager).

- Excessive CPU fan use.

I recently noticed through Speccy that the CPU temperature had risen dramatically. I therefore thought the CPU vent was blocked and sprayed some compressed air into it.

I also reinstalled the operating system but this time and for the first time using a Windows 7 Retail disk and not a Toshiba Recovery disk. To my surprise the boot and shutdown speed is massively fast, the CPU temperature at idle only hovers around 40C and the laptop seems freed from what must have been some malfunctioning software or a combination of software items that created excessive CPU use. I only installed the Display Driver and went through the Intel Driver Update Utility with the Windows 7 Retail disk install. Now it would be good to have an explanation for this....

In addition, is there any way that I can extract drivers from the HDDRecovery partition which I have copied elsewhere?

I now need to buy a new internal HDD for my laptop and would like to buy one which is at least 1TB. What is the maximum capacity drive that I can buy for this laptop and are there any restrictions on manufacturers/makes that I should buy? Are there any good internet sources for this?

Also I would imagine that most laptop HDDs are SATA now.

Many thanks for any advice.

I recently bought Toshiba laptop L750.

When started it up, I had mistakenly closed windows 7 64bit.
during the recovery loading process, i decided to click on cancel button.

After 10mins or so, it didn?t do anything (seemed froze),
and then press the power button to force shut down.

When I turned it on again,
the screen showed a window saying like "loading Toshiba recovery software, please wait".
its been displaying that for over 5hrs.

I tried reboot it again with holding on the 0 button,
but when it turned on, screen went blank,
and it creates a loud BEEP noises from the laptop.

After that, I shut it down and never turn on again.

I?m just worried my action on cancelling the recovery n force shut down,
might be cause the problem.
If there?s a way to fix it, please help.

Thank you

Answer:Satellite L750 is not working

You have made big mistake and I don?t understand why you have interrupted OS installation. Now the access to recovery image is screwed up and I?m afraid you will not be able to fix this.

One more thing: after reading your posting I?m thinking you didn?t even read user?s manuals document. Have you?

Recovery image installation can be started with F8 and not zero button at start up. You can try to start it again but I doubt it will work.

I decided to have a play about with linux and managed to completely wipe my entire hdd, including recovery partition.

What I want to know is how do I get my laptop back to the way it was when new,

I have windows7 installation disk (legit), I have already tried to reinstall windows 7 but for some reason none of the hardware worked, bluetooth, wireless, ethernet etc, even when I downloaded the drivers from toshiba they didn't seem to work, I foolishly made no backups, Is there anything I can do, Please help..

Answer:Need to recover my Satellite L750

It was a big mistake NOT to create a recover disk as described in user manual
So your last chance to set the notebook back to factory settings is this one:
Purchase the recovery disk and use it to install the factory image

Hello everyone.

I am new here!!

I have this laptop and I want to upgrade it with SSD.
I want to remove the optical drive and buy a mount for SSD. But I don't know with mount I can buy.

I see [this|] but I don't if it fits.

Anyone can help please?

Thank you very much.

Answer:Satellite L750-1NF - I want to remove ODD and put new SSD drive

Such upgrade isn?t possible for all notebooks available on the market.
From my knowledge some Toshiba notebook supported the select bay option in the past.

This was the case for some Portege and Tecra series but from my knowledge the Satellite notebooks don?t support such upgrade.
Of course I might be wrong but I think that BIOS will not recognize such device.

If you want to use an SSD drive, you will need to replace the internal HDD.

I have a Satellite L750. I called and received advise from TS;

I had suspected a virus and wanted to reboot from my cds I had created when I originally set the lap top up (i'm told they are like an image thing). I was told to back up and explained how to do this (I am not savvy in technology; i know how to use the laptop for what I need and that is all).
So I followed the steps given to me by TS and done a back up it took quiet a while.

I then contacted TS again and again saying i have the cds that i done from new and would like to back up.
I followed the steps given to me: hold down the '0' key push down the on/off and wait - then followed the steps on the scree for 32 or 64 bit and somewhere there the WARNING came up... on it went and then it seemed to reboot.

When I asked for help how to actually reboot anything after this it was not within the warranty support - and now I am unable to recover anything from the cds myself nor am I able to recover ANY thing from the 'back up' file I have - I actually done two separate ones (just in case).

I would like to know if I may recover/reinstall/import/ use/ copy in the information on the cds
I done as the image thing

How can I recover/reinstall/import/use/copy my files from this back up file that always asks me to 'restore' when I ever selected - and even after doing this over 4 times I have no files?

I am not at all savvy in this area; I have really been trying to search the internet without any suc... Read more

Answer:Satellite L750 - unable to recover anything from the CDs

Maybe it sounds stupid now but it is not easy to help with this. In my opinion either it works or not.

Very notebook can be recovered on two ways:
-using HDD recovery option (recovery image is saved on HDD)
-using created CDs or DVDs

If you use ?zero? at start up I presume you have non-European notebook model. Anyway try please to use created discs one more time.
-start your notebook and press F12 to enter boot menu
-put recovery disc 1 in optical disc drive
-in boot menu choose CD/DVD drive and press ENTER

Optical disc drive will start to read disc and what you must do is to follow menu on the screen.

Please do this and tell us what happen exactly.

Hi there,

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

What do I do? I'm on Windows 7, i5 intel core, NVIDIA GEFORCE with CUDA graphics.
That's all I can muster up about the computer sadly.

Hm? Are you able to access the HDD recovery option?
Press F8 while powering up the notebook. Choose Repair my Computer and then choose HDD recovery.

Is this possible?
If not, then you will need to order the recovery disk which helps you to reinstall the OS once again?

Here you can order such disk:

I'm trying to activate the wifi on my Satellite L750 -V16 after reinstalling Windows 10. When I try to do it using the wifi configuration it fails: Even though I set it "on" the wifi lamp at the front of the laptop remains red and in the short-menu on the right bottom of the display it shows that the wifi is switched off.
I've already googled a lot and found that I need to active the wifi using the FN-key + F8. Unfortunately I cannot install the neccesary "Toshiba Value Added Package" with the utility for the shortcuts. When I start the setup, I get "Setup TVAP error. [0x8145030B]".
Before I've used the laptop with windows 7 and later with windows 10. It's the first time that I've reinstalled it. I've installed the driver for "Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless NEtwork Adapter".
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot,

I want to reinstall Windows on 2 laptops one Satellite L750-11W and a Satellite L650-1QJ and I decided first to download all the drivers ... so I open the browser go to Toshiba website and try to find the drivers and surprise your product can't be found.

I can't find any drivers for neither of them ... I?ve tried auto detect and inserted the serials myself but nothing ... where can I find the drivers?
And another question if I am going to install Win8 on them can I use the drivers for win7 or Toshiba will put some new drivers for them?

Answer:Cannot find drivers for two Satellite L750-11W

If auto detect doesn?t work you can find drivers manually. I?m really wondering didn?t think about that. Go to download page and search for drivers manually.
It should not be big deal for you. Anyway, if you need some assistance, let us know.

From some postings in the past I?ve understand that Win7 drivers cannot be used with Win8 so you must wait until Toshiba starts Win8 support for all supported notebook models. The list of all supported Win8 notebooks you can find on > Toshiba Compatibility Matrix.
