Qosmio G50 - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

Question: Qosmio G50 - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

In the support area of the Toshiba site under downloads, I select +notebooks+ from the drop down, then +qosmio, G50, 04j+ then I get a blank when entering my serial.

I realise that this model has been removed from sale, though I had hoped that it would still be supported....

Can anyone help?

Preferred Solution: Qosmio G50 - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Qosmio G50 - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

On which Toshiba website you are searching for drivers/downloads and what are you searching exactly for your notebook?

Furthermore it makes no difference if the notebook will be sale or not. Older notebook models can be founded in Archive.

My Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q880 is not listed as one of Toshba's products. I've tried entering the Part number: PQX33U-01J00H and the serial number: 3A087672W, but nothing works. I bought the computer from Amazon.

Why doesn't Toshiba recognize it?

Answer:Qosmio X505-Q880 - Not listed on the Toshiba website

On which Toshiba page you are searching? I assume you mean drivers and other downloads that you want?

Therefore check the Toshiba US page where your notebook is listed: > Download > Laptops > Qosmio > X505-Q880

I recently bought a Toshiba A300-16c but have been unable to find it on the Toshiba website.

I am trying to look to extend the 1 year warranty and there is an offer on at the moment to extend the Toshiba 1 year warranty on a variety of models but the A300-16c isnt listed and doesnt even exist on this website.

Can anyone help?

Answer:Re: Cannot find Satellite A300-16c on Toshiba website

Satellite A300-16C seems to belongs to the PSAJ4E series?
It?s definitely a Toshiba European model and as far as I?m not mistaken this unit were delivered in Italy?

May I ask you how did you try to register the warranty???

In your case I would recommend visiting the Toshiba European support page: -> Support & Download -> Standard Warranty

Check it out!

Hello everyone!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300D-13X

But on the Toshiba support website, If I enter its serial nr then it doesent get recognised. If I insted use the little software that are suppose to identify you computer model, that too fails to recognise my model. And last I tried to manually enter my model. I choose Satellite, L300D and then the closest I can choose is L300D-13J, but mine is L300D-13X, Should I choose the L300D-13J anyway?

Anyone who recognise this problem, I would be most greatful

Best regards.

Answer:Satellite L300D-13X - Can't find it on the Toshiba website

Hi Qwerty,

I don?t know what you did wrong but I can find your notebook model on the Toshiba website. As far as I know it belongs to the PSLC0E series so follow this: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Notebook > Satellite > Satellite L Series > Satellite L300D series > PSLC0E

Now you can choose the operating system that you have and download all updates! :)

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. This seems to occur with most Toshiba laptops that I have ever had anything to do with. Trying to find drivers, BIOS etc is a real PITA. I'm trying to find downloads for a Satellite L500 PSLS6A-00X013 but it doesn't show up any where. The serial number search is as useless as the part number search. Am I missing something?

Hi there,

I bought my laptop 3 weeks ago, model: Toshiba Satellite A500 PSAR9A- 02s001
I bought it in Australia but i cannot find any driver support on

Any help?

Answer:Cannot find my model Satellite A500 PSAR9A-02s001 on Toshiba website

This seems to be an Australian notebook series?
I?m not quite sure why it?s not listed on the Australian page but if you need the drivers then you can try to use the driver from the Toshiba European driver page as well?

There is an Satellite A500 PSAR9E series which is similar (or same???).
In my opinion the Win 7 drivers should work too.

The screen is much better than other laptops I've looked at...the two hard drives can be set up as RAID 0/1... the graphics card plays 'far cry' better than my desktop...and the speakers sound fantastic! I have had no luck installing 7 on my Qosmio G35-AV600.

Tried several versions (beta, RC, RTM) all crash on the same spot during install.

I know the OS's are good as I am using the RTM to type this post on my desktop.

When I install - clean on a formatted drive - about halfway through the computer reboots, blue screen error flashes (too fast to read) and the start windows normally screens comes up. The notebook has onboard raid and I have to manually install the drivers as requested by windows since the install cannot see my (2) sata drives. Tried the Vista Toshiba Raid driver and XP driver which I believe are actually the same.

Any ideas?

Answer:Toshiba Qosmio and Win 7

looks like the raid chipset is causing this bsod. however, to eliminate any issues from hard drive, try this method. it'll turn your hdd into a blank sheet. then install win7.
(just replace vista with 7.)

This morning I was on the Toshiba website envying the current model of Toshiba's Qosmio series when the opportunity to chat live with a sales rep popped up on my screen. After picking and plucking at him for a good thirty minutes I was able to divulge a few facts about the new model that I discovered is due to release within the next three weeks on a Tuesday. What I learned is that its processor model will be upgraded (it seems like they are dumping the core-i5 model entirely) they are staying with the same screen size of 18.4'', the speaker manufacturer will stay the same, the aesthetics have been "drastically" revamped, and the price is going to hover around the same price that the current model is at. When it is released I'll try and remember to post a link to it on here, but I'll probably be so consumed with looking over every detail of it that I wont leave the site for a few weeks...or months. So in short if you are interested in purchasing a desktop replacement notebook I would wait a few weeks and see what is released under the Qosmio model, just to make sure you're getting your money's worth on what ever you get.

This laptop is a Qosmio F15-AV201. It was originally loaded with WinXP-MCE and the owner tried to upgrade to Vista. He attempted it 3 different times and somehow managed to mess it up at about 85% of the way through. He brought it to me. I finished the Vista install (it was in the middle of the 4th try when he gave it to me). But there's no Vista drivers at Toshiba's web site. So I looked for drivers elsewhere, and found only one, for the video. So I said lets go back to XP. After the 3 aborted upgrades, none of the installed programs would work anyhow, and they didn't even show up when I finally got Vista loaded. Anyway, I backed up all his pics, docs, music, etc. Formatted, and installed XP-MCE. Now I've installed most of the drivers, but there's still an Unknown Device in the device manager, and several of the important Toshiba drivers will not install (like the Common Modules; if you know about Toshiba Laptops, you know how important this driver is). Without the common module driver, several other drivers won't install, like the power saver driver, and without that, you can't use hot keys for controlling brightness, contrast, etc... on top of everything else the BIOS is set for an external display by default so you have to press Fn+F5 every time the PC is turned on to get anything on the display. I've tried changing it, but it gives BIOS checksum error when you change ANYTHING in the BIOS. So, I tried to flash the BIOS from an ISO b... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Qosmio nightmare

Not knowing much about XP MCE, I'll ask if there is a compatibility mode to run XP or even Vista apps. I don't remember where it was (I'll look and try to find it) but I got a poster to load a driver that way. I'm pretty sure it involved running the setup.exe in compatible mode. I'll post back once I find it.

It was simpler than I remembered. Of course, you won't choose Win98.

Hey guys and gals, I've had my laptop for about 5-6 weeks. Its a Toshiba Qosmio X870 and I have never replaced the battery . The past 3 weeks or so the battery can only charge when the computer is off or in a low power state. If its on and plugged in it will still lose its charge unless its already at 100%. On a full charge without being plugged in it only holds its charge for about 1 hour on "power saver". This makes it extremely hard to use it as a portable device so i'm trying to find a way to troubleshoot the problem without having to buy a new battery or laptop. Answer:Toshiba Qosmio freezes

Might be overheating. Run HW Monitor to check temps.

You have enough RAM, but you should run memtest, just to make sure.

You might have spyware/malware, run malwarebytes. You also might want to run Ccleaner.

With the original 512MB Module in place and either of the 2 new modules in slot 2, the compuer operates correctly and windows recognises 1.5GB RAM. It runs faster than before in this state.

Hi dude

I found your other thread and posted this workaround for all which want to use drivers from nVidia page:

If you were not able to install thin executing the exe file then I?ve a tiny tip for you:
You can update the driver via device manager.

Go to device manager, choose the graphic card and press button update the driver.
Then choose the Advaced installation procedure which helps you to point to the downloaded driver package and to force Win OS to choose this driver.

In my case this procedure works and functions always.

I really do not know the technical data on the machine such as FSB or Max RAM etc., Instead of building my own machine I took the lazy way out and am paying the fiddler now.

If you are familiar with laptops could you tell me what CPU upgrade would be compatable?
I am looking to get higher than 2.4 GHz if possible.
I have heard of a T9800 (2.9 GHz.) or something like that.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Accidently pull out headphones port has pulled away now there is no sound on the desktop at all now, it is not a driver issue.

My question is I would imagine the sound is on board and not a mini card can anyone confirm this . As barring that it would be an expensive repair as there seems to be no other options as to getting sound

Regards Iam

Answer:No sound on Toshiba all in one Qosmio DX730

To be honest I didn?t understand what happened exactly. Is headphones jack still in the port and you cannot remove it or what?

Check please this similar thread.

I cannot say if the repair would be expensive. If the headphones jack is defective now it must be replaced.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

I appreciate any advice or help you can offer. I live in Mexico (fairly small
town) and there isn't much computer help here for this type of problem.
I started having crashes about 3 weeks ago and I don't recall changing
any hardware or installing any new software. I use Microsoft Security
Essentials and did a full system scan, all checks out ok. The majority of
the time, the bugcheck code is 126. I have removed each memory module
(I have 2) and tested with singular modules, and the problem remains. It
occurs as often as every 2 hours, but the system can also run for 24-36
hours without crashing.

I am attaching the BSOD file collection zip file and also the perfmon output.

My system: LAPTOP
OS - Windows 7, SP1
OEM software
system age, I purchased new from Frys 2 1/2 years ago (April 2010)
Age of OS install: orig install. I haven't re-installed it.
CPU: i7 Q720 @1.60 Gh
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M
Mother board: I don't know where to find this
Power supply: I don't know where to find this (Laptop)
System Mfg: Toshiba
Model: x505-870 PQX33U-01H00H

All the hardware is original except for the 'C' drive, I had the original drive
replaced with 128Gb SSD by an authorized Toshiba repair shop.

Hope this is sufficient information to analyze the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help,

Answer:recurring BSOD on Toshiba Qosmio

I ran the last 10 dumps, all are naming iaStor.sys the Intel storage driver
Yours is from 2009 there is a newer one available run the Intel Driver Update Utility here> Intel Download Center

I would normally suggest checking for a firmware update for any SSD drive involved in a bsod naming the storage system, however the listed model number for yours is MMCRE28G5MXP-OVB appears to be a OEM drive unsupported by Samsung so any update would have to come via Toshiba.

I would buy a Toshiba Qosmio G40-12J and I have some questions :

- Is there a Bios / HDD Tatoo that lock other operating system installation ?
- Is an original Vista DVD Installation supplied or is the reinstallation done with an hidden partition on the hard disk drive ?
- If an original Vista DVD Installation is supplied, is an additional driver / software cd installation supplied too ?
- Can I delete partitions et recreate them like I want or is there a problem (due to a Bios / HDD tato or HDD hidden partition) ?

Thank for your answers,

Have a nice day !

Answer:Some questions before buying Toshiba Qosmio G40-12J

dear I had a G40-108 and now I work fine with G45-AV690.
You can install XP ..linux and so on but remember to find the right driver (Nvidia and so on...)
The recovery DVD isn't only the OS Vista but it has inside the OS with all software and tool too.
You can create and delete any partition you wish

I have been having issues with my Windows 7 laptop recently.

The laptop has been taking a long time to boot up, about 15 minutes and also takes a long time to wake up from sleep mode. The initial start up doesn't take long but loading the desktop does. It also has trouble shuting down.

Also I have been getting blue screens, about 4 in the last month. I have updated my drivers, cleared up the registry, run a virus scan and updated to SP1 to try and resolve the problem but it keeps happening.

It also shows this error message:

Hello everyone! I've been having an issue that has been killing me for the past one and a half year now. I'm literally on the edge I'm desperate and I don't know what else to do. I own a 5-year-old Toshiba QOSMIO X500-12N (part no: PQX33E - 03R01VG5). It was working fine for 3.5 years and all of a sudden it started shutting down unexpectedly, like TOTALLY RANDOM restarts. At the beginning I thought it might be overheating issues, because it was just shutting down. So I cleaned it up, nothing different, kept shutting down. After a while I decided that I should send it to Toshiba to tell me what's going on. They said they had to replace the fans and the heat sink as well as the hard drives. I paid about 500 dollars for those changes but the computer was still restarting for no freaking reason. I tried to check if it was the RAM, so I replaced the RAM, still restarting. So all that's left I guess is the GPU or the motherboard, and I don't think those 2 are worth changing at all, so I wanted to ask here, what the hell might be wrong? It's not the NVIDIA Drivers, I updated them a bunch of times and saw no difference at all, nor the laptop being dirty, I cleaned it up so many times even changed the thermal paste. Something also to keep in mind is that if I dare install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on it this problem gets 100 times worse, it restarts the second I start to watch a stream or a video, or just staying there on the desktop for 10 - 20 minutes. It doesn't happen just when gam... Read more

a few months ago I bought myself a Qosmio X770-107. Included was an "Authentiek Windows? 7 Home Premium 64-bit (voorge?nstalleerd, Toshiba-HDD herstel)" and "WinDVD? BD for Toshiba" to play Blue-ray disks. In order to use "Windows 7 64-bit Pro Full" I bouhgt a second drive (SSD) so I could install the Win 7 Pro version and downloaded all drivers from the Toshiba support website. So far everything has worked perfectly.

But... The software + install key to install the WinDVD? BD for Toshiba, that has been automaticly installed during the first installation process (Recovery disks), is missing and prevents me from watching Blue-ray disks on my second drive. At this moment I have to change disks everytime I fancy watchin' a film on Blue-ray disk!
Does anyone know where I can find the missing software distribution + install key for "WinDVD? BD for Toshiba"?

hello everybody!
recently I own myself a toshiba satellite s885-01l model. I got it back in 2013 and was very satisfied with it in terms of working and gaming practices. However due to the exponentially changing of hardware upgrades, I need a new laptop with strong gaming capabilities. I have heard from a friend that the qosmio models have those specs that Im looking for, however the problem is that none of the new models have an intel processor of the 6th generation of skylake. So im here to kindly ask anybody out for clues of a new model release, since the latest version was revealed back at the end of 2015 but only with the 4th gen of intel which is not enough for my demand. I also tried to reach the customer support however with no luck.

what im looking for is a strong spec laptop of the qosmio series with 32 gb of ram, 6-8 gb vram with nvidia graphics or amd (i prefer amd), 1-2 tb hard disk, of course an intel processor of the 6th generation and as well with windows 10 including directx12. I hope as well to be able to upgrade the hardware in terms of graphics card, hard disk and ram.

I hope that you could help me out with my recent favor, I hope that there is still a model released before the end of 2016.
Thank you very much in advance,

And how you can use more processor Toshiba Quad Core HD with four 128-bit SIMD RISC processors in the Qosmio G50-10T except that: allows support for H.264 and HD encoders / decoders MPEG2, with functions to convert, transcode, navigate using face detection (Face Navigation) and control gestures. INJURY A is not used!

Maybe someone knows some software-sales in which it could be used.

Answer:Re: Qosmio G50-10T: How can I use the Quad-Core CPU Toshiba HD?

This Quad Core CPU is an additional CPU which is not always in use.
It has been designed in order to assistance the main CPU during some multimedia processes.
For example the Quad Core CPU works during encoding or decoding of some video standards. If you want the change the standard of the video, the Quad Core CPU helps you to finish this procedure faster.

Furthermore it improves the video (not HD) quality. So theoretically you can show the videos nearly in HD quality.
Of course you will not get the same quality as a movie which was recorded in full HD but the Quad Core helps you to improve the 576i pictures.

I recently sent an email to [email protected] to try and sort out a possible battery / battery reading problem on my Toshiba Qosmio F60-10J that I have owned for under a year (is therefore covered under warranty).

Yesterday, I received a follow up call from the Toshiba computer technical support number and was asked to conduct a few tests to see whether they would resolve the problem:

1) Check whether the BIOS version was up to date, which it was (_BIOS version 2.00_) as confirmed by clicking F2 on start up.

2) Uninstall the old version of the program "Toshiba Value Added Package" then go to the site, enter the laptop model/part number and download the latest Value Added Package, followed by a reboot.

I was provided with a reference number to call back with in case these tests didn't fix the problem, however, I do not have a fixed phone where I am and rely on calling with a mobile phone (which is quite costly, especially when being put on hold). I was hoping to receive some sort of help on these forums.

As the tests did not fix the problem I was encountering, where do I go from here?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Here are some of the finer details regarding the problem: {pasted from an email I sent to customer relations}

So my friend hates vista so much that he went out and bought xp, here we are going through the recovery options and command prompt and we format the hard drive, then we restart the computer with an nLite'd Xp Pro (with Sata raid controller added in for his Sata drive). And get the BOOTMGR missing screen.
Tried using the windows vista recovery CD that was put out with vista on it to get into the options, or boot from linux live cd (which i have no idea to use and confused me more). But still nothing other then BOOTMGR missing! What do I need to do?

Hi all,

Have you ever ask yourself why Toshiba install two players on this HD-DVD notebook? Probably not.
With short words: HD-DVD player is designed for playing HD-DVD movies only. For watching usual DVD movies use DVD player. For this purposes use WinDVD player.

Few days ago I bought Qosmio F50-10K but with Vista Ultimate 32 Bit.
It doesn't satisfy me?
Does anybody know, how can I get Vista Ultimate 64 Bit from Toshiba?

This version was developed for Poland, but in this country there is no Representative Offices or something like this. There are only distributors or shops which import laptops from foreign distributors.

Answer:Qosmio F50-10K - How to get Vista 64Bit from Toshiba

You will not get a Vista 64bit from Toshiba.
What you can do is to buy the full, original Vista 64bit Operating system and to reinstall it instead of Vista 32bit which is already installed on your notebook.

I think the Toshiba Vista 64bit drivers for the Qosmio F50 can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page!

I own a Qosmio F50-108 and I can't seem to find TOSHIBA'S Power Saver Utility.

Is this the same as the power options utility found on the control panel? I have seen screenshots of Toshiba's power saver utility that supposedly comes pre-installed on all their laptops, but the one that I saw was on a Qosmio G10.

Does the F50 series have this as well? If so, where can I find it?

Answer:Toshiba Power Saver available for Qosmio F50?

As far as I know the Qosmio F50 comes with Windows Vista and not XP.

Toshiba Power Saver is only available for Windows XP because Vista has the same functions as Power Saver. The features from Power Saver are now a integral part of Vista.

The video card might have come loose. The only problem is, you'd have to disassemble most of the laptop to get to the GTX 460M card.

Also, the heatsink compound Toshiba used might be getting brittle due to the heat the card puts out.

I got a toshiba Qosmio last night. It is pretty old. 2002-03 model. It has got nvidia graphics card on it. Problem is at startup it was showing lots of signs coming one by one from top to bottom. I changed the ram and hd, after that it is showing loads of $ sign at startup and the xp logo comes on clear. But after that some parallel black and white bar is showing and it stays on. So i guess its the graphics card problem. But i was not sure if it is motherboard as well. If i need to change the motherboard can i change with any or i need a specific one? I write in french because it's more easy for me Excuse me !

When I put my computer Qosmio F60-10J on the way, I have recently an indicating message " Toshiba Notebook Registration Reminder stopped working "

On a forum to I was told that I could uninstall without risk the program toshibareminder.exe
But this one does not appears in the list of the programs which displays into the trap of configuration Windows 7.

I find this program by the explorer Windows with indication Programmes Files/Toshiba/Registration but no visible file(case) Registration!

What do I have to make to avoid having this message in every putting into service of my Qosmio?

Please write to me by mail

+Message was edited - non English content has been removed+

Answer:Toshiba Registration Reminder on Qosmio F60-10J

I guess the toshibareminder.exe is placed in AutoStart folder or in Startup tab of msconfig.

To check this type msconfig in RUN
Then MSCONFIG window would appear and here you have to choose StartUp tab
There you will find different application which would be started while booting up the system.
Search for toshibareminder.exe and uncheck this file.
Apply the changes and reboot the notebook.

This should disable the Toshiba Registration Reminder

My wife and I own a Qosmio F45-AV11. It is in dire need of a complete recovery to fix some odd issues that have stumped me for some time.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that we have the restore disks, the optical drive is defunct. It can take and eject media, but it cannot read anything. Blank CDs and DVDs... Burned CDs and DVDs... Store bought CDs and DVDs... Regardless of what is put in, Explorer does not say that the drive has anything in it.

How can I restore our Qosmio without having to utilize the optical drive? Can I image the recovery disks to an .iso and load it with autorun to a USB? I'm not entirely sure if you're allowed to boot a recovery from a flash drive, but that's the only solution I can imagine at this point (and I can't even figure out how to execute it).

I have strange problem with my Qosmio laptop.
At the same begining my laptop started to randomly shut down from time to time. I tought it was the heating issue, so I celaned up everything.
But the laptop after some time has shut downed.

Now the problem is manifested even more to the extent that I can't turn on my laptop anymore.
When I press turn on button the LED comes on and instantlly off after 1-2 sec. Sometimes it starts to boot up but after couple of seconds it shuts down.
It happened even that laptop turns on for 5-6 minutes and again just instant shut down.
Mainly if i press turn on button it just goes on and in matter of seconds off.

Laptop specs are:

Toshiba Qosmio X870 - 13Z
Intel Core I7 - 3630QM
128GB SSD + 1000GB Toshiba HD

I hope someone will help me find the solution.

Memory available is different from memory installed.

Ever since last Saturday my laptop (Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7380) has been all but unable to connect to the internet. I have tried both the WiFi and Ethernet connections available to me (Which are both working fine for my roomates who are downloading at 10+ Mbps) and neither seem to work. Whenever I try to connect to the networks, however, it says the connection is "Limited". If I constantly refresh and connect/disconnect, every 30 minutes or so I might be able to get about 20 Mb's worth of continuous internet connection and then it returns to "Limited".

So in response, I troubleshoot with "Internet Connections". It claimed that the only problem with it was that "Wi-Fi" doesn't have a valid IP configuration and that the system had fixed the issue. I opened up Google Chrome and everything ran smoothly. I was able to load a half a dozen high bandwidth websites. Then the connection slowed and became "Limited". Now when I try troubleshooting again I get that same issue but now it says Not Fixed next to it now.

I'm totally lost on what to do next. Apparently Windows 8 updated itself at 4 AM on Saturday so I think it could be that, but at this point I have no idea. Anyone have any tips on how I can fix this? I added my ipconfig/all hoping it might help.

Pls help, Toshiba Qosmio G20 cooling system problem

Last week I bought notebook Toshiba Qosmio G20-106 and the first day I got it it was very slow and I´m getting this error message every 10 minutes or so:

Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

I bought it in another country, and I can´t go back just for the service, and servicer in my country doesn´t know what´s causing the problem.

When that message pops up, the processor slows down by 25% and everything works so ridiculously slowly that I can barely get anything done. Then, ever 10 minutes or so, it seems like the fan tries to spin but can't, gives up after a few seconds and tries again.

Did anyone have the same problem here? Is there any advice you could give me? And is there any software application that could force the cpu fan on or that could monitor is wheather the fan is on and check the fan speed?

What is the max temperature of notebook cpu that can be? Processor is Pentium M (Centrino) 1,86GhZ, with 1GB RAM.

2 days ago I run Ccleaner because I cannot install yahoo messenger on my Qosmio. After that I notice the 'Function Buttons' (the lighted soft touch button above the numpad) has losts its function. If you touch any of it, it's the Windows Mobility Center will pop up. I disabled the windows mobility center and now if you touch any of the buttons nothing will happens.

I want to have back the function button functions because I usually use the 3D and network switch buttons.

Anybody has the solution beside restoring the OS please help.

Answer:Toshiba Qosmio F750, losts some functiions

If you let CCleaner create a backup before deleting your registry entries, you could try doubleclicking on the backup file it created. If that does not work,
try doing a system restore to a date just before the problem.

My Qosmio X770 will not run the latest version of Toshiba Video Player and I have been unable to roll the version back or repair it. It comes up with a message that modules are missing. I have tried multiple times from multiple download sites but nothing helps. The only download that I can find is tc3064700a and it does not install properly. Where can I download the original version, version 4 I think, that came with the computer?

I have a Toshiba Qosmio DX730-10Q Part Number PQQ10E-02300CEN, and Serial Number 2C017671Y, very simple question how do you get the case off to replace the fan. Do you remove the back first the stand. Anyone help a service manual of something may help me if you know of one.

Answer:Removing the case on a Toshiba Qosmio DX730

I would contact Toshiba and ask if they have a PDF available that shows how to open it safely. I have made contact with them in the past for other models and they have been helpful in getting back to me with a PDF that describes where the screws are located and screw types used for each hole etc.Looking online at google I was not able to find a reference to a procedure, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. On other model computers that are integrated into the display, I have found before where the base had to be removed first as for screws were hidden under the metal pivot plate. But also in addition to screws holding it together, you may also have hidden tabs that need to be depressed to get it to open as well which you cant see, but with a PDF showing an exploded diagram of parts etc you will know where they are if there are any.

Is there any difference between the nvidia display driver and the one packed by toshiba?
I've been using the one from toshiba but Geforce Experience is giving me a headache with warnings about a newer driver and toshiba doesn't seem to supply one.

Answer:Qosmio X70-A - difference between nVidia and Toshiba GPU driver

Yes of course there is a difference between the nVidia GPU drivers (or any drivers provided by graphic card manufacturers) and drivers provided by Toshiba.

The GPU drivers from Toshiba driver page are modified and made for mobile usage.
Every notebook model supports different components (CPU, cooling modules, etc?) and different design. Therefore the heat dissipation is always different.

The GPU driver provided by Toshiba supports some kind of GPU overheating protection and protects the graphic chip from damage. This means that GPU performance is controlled by the driver and in case the internal temperature would increase to critical level, the GPU performance would be decreased. Also the notebook shuts down automatically if temperature would be too high.

Hello people!

A friend of mine was about to throw out an old laptop he found in his basement but ever the optimist, I thought I might as well take a look at it and see if it can be fixed. It's a Toshiba Qosmio G30 running XP with an Intel Centrino Duo processor. The laptop turns on and is running just fine except for a crucial problem, the graphics card is buggered (at least that's what the guy at PC World reckons). The screen flickers on and off (it's off for much longer than it's on) and the resolution is completely off with several lines across the screen too. I can see that the system itself is running, I can move the mouse and open programs but it takes forever to squint and even longer to edge the mouse across while it's flickering.

My question is, was the guy at PC World right to tell me to give up on it? How long would it take to fix? Would I have to replace the graphics card? Is it worth it for this dated machine? I just hate to see it go to waste.

Thanks in advance for any help/thoughts/suggestions.

Answer:Qosmio F20-111: When Toshiba will release Vista drivers

Probably after official Vista launching at the end of January 2007. I presume at first will Toshiba support actual and latest notebook models and after that I hope it will be possible to download Vista drivers, tools and utilities for all other ?Windows Vista capable? notebooks.

Hello to all

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-161 and with it I have a Toshiba remote control and a Toshiba remote control receiver, this is the first time I have used it (tried to that is), my problem is the remote is not working on the computer when I press any program buttons the computer does nothing.

I have installed four brand new AA batteries and the remote works fine its sending signals to the receiver, the receiver the detecting the remote as a red light appears every time you press a button and as for the computer I have checked the drivers and the USB is picking up the receiver as a E-home remote receiver which I have checked with Toshiba and that is correct, so all in all the remote is working, the receiver is picking up signals and the pc has detected the receiver but nothing works, I have installed remote control manager but this still has done anything. I have spoken to Toshiba help and support and the end result is they are not sure what the problem is. Can anyone help I require the remote for slideshows for customers as I???m a photographer.

Also to confirm I am running Windows XP MCE addition.

Answer:Need help with my Toshiba remote control and receiver for Qosmio G30 161

Hi there,

this remote contol works, if you use it without any special drivers and special software, only in the Media Center.

But if you install such stuff like [WinLirc|] then you should be able to get some functions for your presentation.

Please try this tool and check if it works.

By the way: If I were you I would first read the Manual and FAQ of WinLirc before starting because it?s a little bit tricky to handle the program. :) (Too many settings :D)

So my daughter wanted to get rid of her old laptop and sell it so I wiped the hardrive. Now she wants to re-install the OS. The recovery partition is gone so I cant use that to re-install Win7

The laptop came with Win7 Premimum 64 bit. I tried to go to the MS Recovery Center to d/l Win 7 Premimum but her product key does not work the site told us to contact Toshiba.

My first question is the image that the laptop an OEM vs Retail I assume its OEM since we didnt purchase the os seperatly, Does this explain why the product key does not work.

Second if I have a OEM copy of Win7 Premimum can I use that and install that on her laptop with her product key.

Third where can I d/l a copy of Win7 Premimum 64bit iso.

Sorry for the long winded first post but Ive got to fix this for her, Thanks for your help.

Answer:Need help installing Windows 7 on Toshiba Qosmio X770

Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. Over 1.5 million consumers have followed it without a single complaint. They have the best installs of Win7 in the world.

Yes you can use your OEM copy of Win7 Home Premium as long as its the needed bit version. Use 64 bit for 3gb more RAM, 32 bit for less than 3gb RAM. It also needs to be the actual Win7 installation disk and not a branded Recovery disk. There is no distinction in the media for OEM and other retail media after XP, only the key determines which version will activate.

MS is unnecessarily deferring to the OEM in their new software Recovery website which rarely works at all. Yet the OEM no longer has any power to dissuade users from reinstalling their property the way they want it. The factory install is a grossly inferior install larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7.

How to get a new installation of Windows 7 x86 running on a Qosmio G50.

It's assumed you have a version of Vista x86 installed.
First I have to say, I'm from Germany. So I loaded the drivers from the European side of Toshiba.
The problem by a new installation is that you lose some preinstalled applications from Toshiba like DVD Player or Ulead DVD.

You can skip the following steps if you don't need them.

In the recovery partition you will find all necessary files to get the setup for this software.

# Install Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK). This installs a driver you need to mount the image files.
# Create two directories to join and mount the image.
# The use of the imagex tool witch is a command line tool, located in the tools directory of your recovery partition and explained in the online help of WAIK and on Microsoft Support. A good idea is the command imagex /?.
# Use the imagex tool and join the swm files in the root directory of your recovery partition to a wim file in one of your previously created directories. \\ Open the command prompt and use this command: "imagex /export path\first.swm 2 directory\named.wim /ref path\*.swm" \\ Where first.swm is the swm file with no number, in my case a file named xxxx.swm. The second file is named xxxx2.swm. 2 is the image to save, named.wmi is the name of your joined image file and path\*.swm is the Path to all swm files of your recovery directory.
# Now mount this wim file with the image... Read more

I hope I am at the right place.
I have this Toshiba laptop that started giving the greyscreen problem. I took the computer in and they gave a new video card for $400+ and 90 day W.
Well it was better but still did it...took it back and they gave me a free power cord. Things were much better for a week but now I can't run the system for more than and hour. Am wondering if the video card was the problem in the 1st place.
Any ideas would be appreciated as I don't want to put more money into this thing.
Thankyou in advance

Toshiba Qosmio won't boot up in regualr or safe mode. When I turn it on I get a menu that give me a repair menu but even that doesn't help. Can someone suggest some ideas?

Answer:Windows 7 Toshiba Qosmio laptop won't boot up

Thanks trvlr, yes I see the window folder. In fact I replaced some of the dll's in the system32/drivers directory because when I boot into safe mode with command prompt it gets so far and stalls. I was thinking that maybe one of them was corrupted. However this didn't seem to help.Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Before I had to submit this I got back to looking at the machine and I was able to fix it. Here is what I did;Using the Windows repair disk I got myself into dos prompt. Running the chkdsk was the last thing I was going to try before trying to recover or reinstalling windows. I mentioned before that it said it couldn't run it without unmounting the volume. Since I was at the end I decided to go ahead and say yes. I ran a chkdsk /r /f. It looked like it fixed a few things. I exited dos prompt and restarted the computer. It got a point where it said it was configuring windows. I took this as a good sign. When it finally completed and windows opened, there was a bucnh of apps open including Excel withoput 5 spread sheets. My guess was that someone shutfown the computer forcefully while windows updates were being applied. Anyway it all looks good now.I really want to thank you Trvlr for your guidance and suggestions. I was great having someone who had sugegstions on what to dio and to steer me in the right direction.

I have the Toshiba Qosmio x505 q898 laptop which has two drives. I use a Samsung 2tb SSD drive for my primary drive and another samsung 2tb ssd for my secondary. Recently Samsung came out with a 4 tb ssd. I bought that but been having problems with error messages about it getting corrupt and unreadable. The funny thing is it reads it as 4 tb after doing a few things and the files tranfers and opens just fine. That is until i start adding more files. Somewhere along the line it fails. Then they want a reformat which erases everything. Any ideas? I already replaced the drive just in case it there was something wrong with the drive.

Answer:Replacing ssd on secondary drive for my Toshiba Qosmio

It is a bios limitation. On the spec sheet, it lists xp as a supported operating system SO this must be at least a few years [or more] old. As such, it is not going to have a uefi type bios; because of this, it is not going to support drives >2TB.

Hello people,

I am a new owner of Qosmio X770 notebook. I wish I could say proud owner or happy or satisfied owner, unfortunately not. I am frustrated for not being able to update my nvidia video driver because of some lazy and incompetent fool. Well I ask you Toshiba, why did you put "non-generic" nvidia hardvare so we can't get latest releses of nvidia drivers from their site, or why don't you find and pay someone to keep those updates UP TO DATE???

As you all know Toshiba still did not update their/our drivers for nvidia GTX 560M now 3 months passed. And if you look at past models of their notebooks (support, download area) you can see their drivers date from 2007, 2008....

Well guys do you know what that means? It means this will be our first and last supported driver from Toshiba for our nvidia cards... Well really??? I am lucky I activated that No Matter What Guarantee... as I think I just might use it for complete refund if this will not resolve in our benefit.

I hate to say it but Japanese products used to be top notch and probably majortiy of them are, but support and customer care is just too low on my scale and as I can see many others too.

For the conclusion I will say that I really REGRET I bought this Toshiba notebook over some other options I had.
I will wait for one month from when I bought it which will pass in few days and if this do not resolve I will ask for full refund.

HAHA funny guys I say. But this just makes me more angry at that incompetent Toshiba drivers proofing team.

This is what I answered:

Dear support team,

That is not the satisfying answer. Who does these proofing tests? They must be lazy/incompetent/unmotivated to do their work. I see no results. Nvidia released 280.26 version of driver and we are stuck on 268.51 version. Qosmio X770 is released as Gaming computer. Gaming computers require updated drivers and on top of that list are the video drivers. What work is this proofing team doing if they are unable to release 1 update in 4 months time?
Lets see what are the options to solution of this problem:
? Hire another driver proofing team, or even better fire these before you hire new ones.
? Why don?t the Toshiba driver proofing team rel... Read more

System: Qosmio G10 running Windows XP.

When I bought the system, it came loaded with Toshiba's 'Virtual Sound' app, which replaced the standard Microsoft Volume Control app in the XP Taskbar (bottom right of screen). Now, the standard 'Volume Control' app appears in the Taskbar.

How do I get the 'Virtual Sound' app back? It enables me to easily switch between setting the sound for the laptop's internal speakers and using larger external speakers.

PS. Love Qosmio's!

Hey guys, I could really use some help. Okay, the problem is my wife had the laptop slip off the TV tray we use when we are in the living room. Now when I start up, the windows logo looks great but after that it flickers through some boxes all over the screen. Then it goes to a completely black screen. Where it sits there and doesn't try to reboot or do anything. There was one time where it powered through this part and it showed a windows desktop but there was huge lines of pink everywhere. I was thinking that it might be a hard drive crash or possibly the video card.
edit: I just restarted it in safe mode and it booted up. When I start up normally it does a blue screen of death and physical memory dump

Answer:Toshiba Qosmio x305, huge problem!

In safe mode, do a memory test.

Might want to run "msconfig" as well, go to the startup tab, to see what programs start up when you go into normal mode.

Hi, I updated the bios to version 1.70, than I updated the VAP to version 1.13. Now it's impossible for me to launch HWsetup utility, I've this message: an unsupported operation was attempted, and pc diagnostic tool shows a blank screen. What can I do ? Many thanks !

Message was edited by: krauzed

Answer:Qosmio G40 and Toshiba value added package 1.1.3 problem

I am afraid you can not do much. As far as I know this updated VAP helps that flash cards (when you press FN key) move much faster than before. Obviously this new version ?kills? other applications. I can imagine that someone by Toshiba has noticed the same and new update will be offered soon.

While waiting for solution you can try to reinstall both ?not working? tools.
