Satellite A350/07H and Windows 7

Question: Satellite A350/07H and Windows 7

Hi guys,

I installed Windows 7 on my A350/07H and I have a few problems.

1. I cannot find any vista/w7 drivers for the frontpanel multimedia touch buttons
2. When I type shift+2 I get a " symbol instead of a @ symbol. Vice versa, when I press shift+' I get the @ symbol instead of the " symbol.
3. When installing vista drivers for the touchpad, by either Synaptics or ALPS (I think that's the name), the touchpad is quite laggy. That is, it's not smooth and seems to be less responsive than without the drivers. I uninstalled the touchpad drivers and the touchpad returns to being very responsive.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A350/07H and Windows 7

As you know Win7 is not launched officially and at the moment you can try to use beta drivers from Toshiba US support page.
For every OS Toshiba must design and test new drivers. For Win7 such drivers still don't exist, just beta drivers. If everything works well is OK and you will be lucky if not .... you know what I mean. :(

I have a Satellite A350 PSAL6A-04W16 which I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I have installed the Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows 7 and while this fixed the touch keys for Speaker Mute and Media Player control the FN keys still do not work.

I have read in another forum that TFNKY.exe and HKServe.exe must be running however these programs do not seem to exist on my PC.

Is there a fix for this?

Answer:Satellite A350 - FN keys not working after Windows 7 installation

The point is that you have to install Flash Cards Support utility too and Value Added Package is not enough. As you can see in many other threads, FN keys start working after installation of Flash Cards Support Utility.

So have a look on Toshiba website again to download this tool.

Please send some feedback after installation. :)

Sorry for my bad english, i am forum Portugal and i don't are very good at english.

1 I installed Windows 7 on my pc, installed the drivers 7 and FN was to give. However I had another problem and had to format the pc again, now install everything again and functionality not the FN.

2 Without the drive functionality that is FN + F6/F7 brightness works. But with the drive not installed anything. It seems they are in conflict.

3 The bar at the top of the screen that appeared no longer appears. But if I go to Start -> All Programs -> TOSHIBA -> Utilities -> Settings for TOSHIBA E-cards. With it open, squeeze "Allow the mouse to show the cards" and they appear at the top, as hidden. But just gives me no way, I wish to give to the FN.

Anyone know how this is resolved?? It gave me immense way and even have tried everything, installed everything, there is nothing to block the FN key? A feature that blocks this key?? Please help me.

My PC as it says in the title is Toshiba Sattelite A350D 10Y PSALME....

Hi all,...

I have ordered an A350-20S, (4gig RAM, T6400), and will want to remove Vista to replace with Windows 7 but have a few questions.

1, Do I go for 32bit or 64 bit?
2, If I go for 64bit do I have to update the BIOS?
3, I have had a look at the downloads page, was wondering if the drivers and BIOS for Vista will be ok to use for Windows 7?

Please advise with your opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A350-20s - OS advice and opinions wanted - Windows 7

# I don?t know for which purposed you use your notebook but in my opinion you should use 32bit. Most offered applications are made for 32bit OS
# as far as I know you must not do this
# many people here have reported about well working Vista drivers under Win7 but your notebook is/will be Win7 supported so it will be better to wait und get Win7 drivers

Before you do anything please start original preinstalled Vista create recovery DVD using preinstalled ?Toshiba recovery creator utility?.

I installed Windows 7 x64 on my Satellite A350-ST3601 laptop and I have a problem with Fn keys.. Simply they don't work no more..
I updated the BIOS via ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.20 to latest BIOS, installed all hardware drivers from Toshiba Support page and installed the Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP) for Windows 7/Vista (64) v1.2.27_64 and nothing.
I uninstalled TVAP and installed it again and nothing. I even tried with Utility Support Driver and Registry Patch for Devices And Printers and nothing again.
I even tried "Restart flash card" solution with no result.

Can somebody help me plz? I am desperate about this problem because I use Fn keys a lot?

Answer:Re: Satellite A350-ST3601 - Fn keys don't work on Windows 7

After Value Added Package installation you have also to install ?Flash Cards Support Utility?. Please search on the Toshiba page for this tool.
You can also search for other notebook models but it must be released for Windows 7, as far as I know the old version for Vista will not work.

Check this!!!

I have the Toshiba A350-13A for Poland.
It came with Vista 32 bit system. I would like to install there Windows 7 64 bit.

So I have a question for BIOS update.
In my toshiba model driver section for WIN7 there is only a 32 bit BIOS for OS independent, but in the Vista section there is a 64 bit BIOS.
So shall I stay with the 32 bit BIOS or update to Vista 64 bit BIOS?

best regards.

Answer:Windows 7 - BIOS update question - Satellite A350-13A

Do you have any performance or notebook issues using the 32bit BIOS?

If everything is working properly then leave the 32bit BIOS on your notebook.

I would recommend updating the BIOS only if some serious problems would appear?

The ATI catalyst is an part of the display driver.
You can find the display driver on the *Toshiba European driver* page.

I recommend reinstalling the display driver and all other Win 7 drivers again?

Note To Toshiba Team:
Why don't you package all necessary drivers and software in one package after testing them, based on computer model for example in my case Satellite A350-13A, you could make one package for Win7x64 another for Win7x32, etc, instead of leaving us spending days to figure out what to install and where to find it and if it will work or not. You need to install the Flash Card support utility additionally to the VAP!!!
The Flash Card support Utility can be found in Satellite L500 driver area for example.
After installation if Flash Card support Utility reboot the unit once again and then check the functionality.

There is an issue with this A350-043 Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bits, part number : PSAL6C-04S015

Simply put: when connected to a SEAGATE 9NK2AL-510 500GB SATA DRIVE EXTERNAL USB (s/n: 5QG1YH1E) Windows will not load, it goes upto and freeze just prior to the green moving bars. If the USB cord is pulled out and put back in for a second, Windows continues to load normally and all is well.

Otherwise, the OS will take up to 15 minutes to load. Looking in the BIOS features, there is no option to boot from USB available, so it cannot be disabled. I have upgraded the BIOS of the Toshiba to the latest version with no change in that issue.

I have tested and confirmed that the issue persist no matter which USB port is used.
The external drive is fully fonctional and there is no errors or issues with it when Windows is loaded. I am reported this issue to Seagate as well as Toshiba in the hopes that a solution can be offered on that, but did not hear back on anything as yet.

Answer:Windows will not load on a Satellite A350 with 500GB Seagate external HDD

You mean the notebook needs 15min to load the Windows OS even if the external HDD is not connected?
This sounds weird and I doubt this can be related to any software issue?

First of all you should check the booting order in the BIOS? the USB should be set at last or second last position.
Secondly you should check if the same issue would still persist after an new OS installation? in some cases the booting procedure could be affected due to installed software and background processes.

But if the new OS installation does not help and if the issue will still persists then I assume that an hardware problem (motherboard????) could be the reason for that and therefore an notebook technician should be contacted!!!

That?s my opinion?

Hey everyone.

I own a Toshiba Satellite A350.

Last night, my down arrow key clicked out of place, and now I'm pretty sure one of the key retainers is broken, as a very small part of one of the retainers is broken, and the key will not click back into place.

I went to at least 4 different computer stores today and had no luck in finding somewhere who sells these retainers, one place , however suggested I go to the manufacturer, so do I call the Toshiba help line or something??

With this model, is it possible for me to fix this retainer/key issue, or will I have to take it to a professional??

Answer:Satellite A350 - I need a new key retainer

I think you will not find a key retainer because such parts are not available. If one key is broken or something else on the keyboard you must replace the complete keyboard.

What you can do now?
Well, in your case I would contact the nearest ASP that you can find on the Toshiba website. Explain the situation and the ASP can order a new keyboard and exchange it if you want. => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider

I'm a french owner of a A350-122 (Serial No: 39169719K)

In the french user's manual, on page 1-5, it's written that it's possible to insert an other hard drive, and on page 2-6 the rear view of the A350-122 shows a second location on the left for a second hard drive.

So, I have bought an Intel X25-M SSD to put in the second location. I have opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata connector, no power connector, only an empty location.

So, what's wrong with this Satellite A350-122?

Thank's for your answer.

Answer:Satellite A350-122 - How to install second HDD?

Some of the A350 models do not support a second HDD. On those models, the Bay will be missing the SATA Connector.

On models that are shipped with two HDD's built-in, there will be a SATA connector in the Bay.

Which games do you play?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350-11C and would like to downgrade my pc to Windows XP but I don't found any driver for WinXP.
Where to download it? Or the Vista driver is compatible with Winxp?

Thanks bye

Answer:Need WXP drivers for my Satellite A350-11c

I have checked Toshiba support page and unfortunately there are no drivers for WXP. Obviously this newest notebook model is not WXP supported, or not yet.
So either you try to search drivers by hardware manufacturers, similar Satellite models or continue to use Vista.

To be honest I don't believe there is some difference between satellite A300 and A350 except dimension. I don't know which A300 is similar to your A350 (hardware configuration).
Try to compare notebook specifications on Toshiba support page.

At the end I must say that downgrade is OK but maybe you should also look forward and use Vista as latest operating system. Make good experience with it and prepare yourself for new Windows 7. It is similar to Vista but with some differences in design.

Answer:Satellite A350-12J: What BIOS can I use

Why you don?t know what BIOS is compatible?
Where is the problem?

The Satellite A350-12J seems to belong to the PSALWE series. The number should be placed at the bottom of the unit.

If you would select this model number on the Toshiba European driver page then you would get all the necessary Vista drivers and the BIOS for this unit.
The page provides BIOS for vista 32bit and 64bit. If the Vista is 32bit OS then take the BIOS for 32bit?

But to be honest I still don?t know what a problem is? your posting is very short any not really helpful?

Hi! Is it possible to regulate the sensivity of the touchpad in my laptop?
I have a Satellite A350-20J (according to the label at the bottom of the laptop), a PSAL6E-04800GRU (as of Toshiba diagnostics utility). I bought this notebook in Moscow.
It is getting already annoying to work with it as this touchpad is so sensible that I am continuously unintentionaly "making clicks" here and there, sometimes with very undesirable effects.

Another question:
To the date I am writing this message I have not been yet able to find the exact model of my laptop in both the English and Russian websites of Toshiba.

1 + Following the UK site, I reach There is a link on the top left "Click here to find your laptop". Click. A pop-up opens, with 2 ways to locate my laptop:
1.1 - Select the family, series or model you are looking for: I chose "Satellite A350 series" then the next combo offers just A350-20S. That's not the mine!!
1.2 - Enter the part number you are looking for: I enter the number in the label of my laptop, click Search and get a "Entered part number has not been found"

2 + Ok, ok, as I bought this computer in Moscow, maybe I have to go to the Russian site. I go there, everything of course is in Russian but no option to change the language to english (my native language is not English nor Russian). No problem. Browse the site up to Read more

Answer:Satellite A350-20J and Touchpad

Hello Carlos

At first I must say that you can change touchpad sensitivity. It can be done in Synaptics settings.
Please go to control panel > mouse > Device settings tab > Settings button > in next window you will find menu on the left and last option there ?Sensitivity?.
Try to change touch sensitivity there.

The whole story about notebook model identification is interesting but at the end I didn't understand why is this so important for you.
All you need to know is that you have PSAL6E model.

Using this part number on download page you will be able to download right drivers and all other Toshiba stuff for your notebook.
It will be very nice to know why is this identification so important for you.

What is the problem in your opinion?

Answer:2x Satellite A350-22z but one is slower than the other

hi erdemrek,
i cant see what is exactly the problem your talking about but:
if you have the same cpu, the same amount of ram, same model make, same installation then everything should be the same.
what do you mean with "highest frequency" unfortunatly i dont speak your language therefor i cant read the text on your image.
if you test the speed of the machine be assured to use the same utility (benchmark).
load on a system differs depending on the services and applications launched and running.
could you give some more information on this problem?

at first you can try to swap the hdd and see if there is any change. if it's a software related problem it should appear on the other machine as well when changing the hdd.

Answer:Satellite A350-20S can't burn any dvd or cd

Do you try to copy any copyright protected disks?
Possibly this is not possibly due to some restrictions?
Otherwise you should check if an firmware update for the drive exists?
If one is available then you should find it on the Toshiba European driver page.

Last but not least if can be an hardware issue? but the ASP should be contacted as last resort?. I mean in most cases the used DVDs or CDs are responsible for such issues?
I had such issue too and could solve it using another brand? I?m now with TDK ?R disks

Hi there guys. I just acquired a laptop from my step-father and I have formatted it to Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I seem to have most drivers for it but I have missing a crucial piece of software.

I would love some help with this!

Any Ideas?

Did you install the chipset drivers first before any other driver the .inf file gives the correct locations to which all other drivers will be instaled.

You should only use drivers for Windows 7 64-bit only

Have you checked that the FN key is not damaged or debris caught under the key itself giving a bad contact?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 (about a year and a half old) that will not start up correctly. This happened after the laptop was left on until the battery ran out. The keyboard and power button LEDs will light up, but the screen remains black when I try to turn it on. I use Windows Vista.

The machine generally continues to make a whirring noise for a few seconds before it ceases to make any noise (the fan and the HD). The screen sometimes flickers a lighter black on a screen for less than a second. Also, the cooling fan sometimes continues to operate after everything else has stopped.

Another issue is that when if it does turn on and proceed to the Toshiba screen, odd lines will fade into the screen and eventually the screen will end up white/blue. On the other hand, sometimes it will turn on and act as if nothing happened. At these times, putting it to sleep mode will cause it to not be a ble to turn on again.

I've tried removing the battery, using only the battery, fully charging the battery and using the laptop with barely any charge in the battery and it does not change anything.

I would really appreciate any sort of lead as to what may be wrong with the poor thing.

Answer:Satellite A350 will not boot

Generally speaking it?s always hard to say something about such ?sometimes errors? because it?s not clear and could be caused by every part but at the moment I doubt this problem is software related?

Can you see something on an external screen when internal screen remains black?

In worst case it?s a hardware malfunction and this would mean you need help from an ASP to check what part is affected but if your notebook is under warranty, the repair would be for free.

Hi there,

When cleaning my A350-04S today, I removed my keyboard to find the motherboard labeled "3G / UWB / GPS". This was a surprise to me, as the laptop was not advertised with 3G / UWB or GPS. It also has a SIM slot behind the battery, but I can't seem to identify the F3507g mobile broadband module. Does anyone know if my model had the F3507g installed? I've also gone ahead and installed all the necessary software (found [here|]) but the module cannot be identified.

Could it be that the BIOS settings are disabling the hardware (if it is there)? If it isn't there, why has Toshiba included the SIM slot and printed on the motherboard "3G / UWB / GPS"?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:SIM Slot on Satellite A350-04S

According notebook specification your notebook model doesn?t have 3G module inside. All notebooks with 3G have preinstalled software for 3G that is included in original recovery image that Toshiba install on notebooks and offer to the customers.

I presume you such software was not preinstalled with, I presume original Vista OS. It is Canadian model and I don?t know if Toshiba Canada has offered A350 with 3G.

My father-in-law's laptop is the Satellite 350 and i think it has 12j after its name.

We re-installed Vista 32 bit the other day and he said a few things are not working as they should.

Firstly, if he presses the FN key and, let?s say, the brightness it works but he used to have a little dock type thing pop up at the top of the screen with the FN button icons. The other FN keys don?t work though such as the monitor swapping switch.

Second the soft-touch media keys don?t work such as turning off the LEDs behind them or bringing up media player.

We have done the obvious and tried installing the value package but it said on installation that it was removing the package so it must have already been installed. After re-installing it, there is no difference. I can?t find any programs or anything in control panel for it.
Also I tried the same thing for Hardware setup. Again it seemed to be saying it was there and uninstalling it. Again I re-installed it but still can?t find anything for it anywhere for me to go into to change any settings or anything.

I haven't got the laptop with me right now as it is at his house but I think I got everything right.

Any ideas welcome.

Answer:Re: Few issues with Satellite A350-12J

Every Toshiba notebook is offered with preinstalled operating system and this old A350 should be delivered with Vista so I would like to know if there is possibility for you to use this original recovery image.
Have your father in law created recovery DVD as recommended by Toshiba?

I presume you try to install own Vista version, right?

I have an A350-13I Notebook. The notebook has a slot to install a second hard disk but there is no connector for it. Does anybody know what modifications are necessary to install a second hard disk?

Answer:Satellite A350 - How to install a second HDD?

The answer is pretty easy: You can do nothing!

The reason why you have a second slot but without connector is that some models are equipped with second HDD and some other models not I think.

So fact is that you can?t add second HDD to your notebook.
If you need more disk space you can use a bigger HDD or an external HDD for data.

Hi all

About 6 months ago I purchased a Satellite A350. Had no probs at all until around 2 weeks ago, where a really faint horizontal line would appear running across the display around half way up. Then a couple of days ago the whole bottom half of the screen went sort of grey with really thin vertical lines... the top half still appears normal.

Anyone know what this could be? Any help would be much appreciated

Answer:Satellite A350 - Lines on the screen

> Anyone know what this could be?
In my opinion the case is clear: The internal display seems to be faulty and should be replaced or have you tried an external monitor already? If the external monitor works properly you need a new internal display.

An authorized service provider can help you to exchange it and order a new one. On the Toshiba page you can search for nearest ASP.

does someone know where i find winxp drivers for the A350 - 200 ?

Answer:Where do I find the XP drivers for Satellite A350-200

At this time the Toshiba European driver page does not provide XP drivers fro the A350.
Maybe such drivers will be released in the next time.. let?s hope?

Until then you could collect the XP drivers at your own hand? you could use some single XP drivers released for other Toshiba notebooks? many series uses the same devices and therefore some single drivers should run too.

I recently formatted the hard disk and installed Vista home premium again because it was running slow. Before formatting I had disabled the touch pad from using becasue I found it very uncomfortable to use. Therefore instead of that I was using an optical mouse. Once I installed Vista the touch pad was not working and the Fn key was not responding to F1,F2-F9.. The strange thing is when I press the Fn key the light goes on and indicates its working and when I press Fn+F10, the num lock gets on and when I press Fn+F11 it goes to normal qwerty keyborad.

I have downloaded all the drivers for the laptop including the touch pad driver from TOSHIBA offical webpage and tried every known trick in the book but still truggling to get this Function key panel working? Your help is highly appreciated.

My laptop is still under warranty but I am scared to send it over becasue they would go like you hav formatted the hard disk even I hav installed the same OS that I already had.

Thats the main reason to post this. Hear me out plz

Answer:Satellite A350-20S - Can't get FN keys working

Hi buddy,

I doubt that you have downloaded everything from the Toshiba website, otherwise your FN keys would work properly! ;)

Anyway, for the FN keys you have to install ?Toshiba Value Added Package?. With this package it?s also possible to enable/disable the touchpad. It brings all FN keys to work. > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Just download the version that you need and that?s it!

I just purchased a brand new Satellite A350-02T laptop. I've only used it twice, and both times I've used it, the touch pad, at some point, has stopped working. Well, not "stopped", but becomes flakey, figitty, freezes, stalls... it's kind of hard to explain.

It will move a bit then freeze, then move a bit and freeze.

Also, I noticed yesterday when I was using it, the scroll option stopped working. I was viewing a .pdf document and it was allowing me to scroll one second, and then the next second, I couldn't scroll. I tried opening the web browser and scrolling but it still wouldn't let me. I rebooted the computer and it seemed fine again.

Any suggestions?

Have you tested an external mouse on the notebook? Does it work or not?

It?s really hard to say what is the reason for this because I?m not a notebook technician but have you tried to update the touchpad driver? You can find it on the Toshiba website: => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

What OS do you use and have you installed the notebook with the Toshiba recovery disk or Microsoft disk?

firstly i want you to forgive my broken english (it's not my mother tongue)

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my old (but very good) *Satallite A350-122 PSAL6E-02300SFR* and i was really satisfied till i tried to install my drivers downloaded from the Toshiba support center. No one were made for Windows 8.1 x64 but some could finally be installed but the others like the webcam and mouse drivers don't; so i looked for it on internet but it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.

So my question is: Can some one help me with it? i would be very gratefull.

Answer:Why some WIn 8.1 drivers don't work on Satellite A350-122?

This old Vista notebook is not supported for Win8 so Toshiba doesn't offer any driver, tool or utility for it. Generally speaking webcam driver doesn't exist anymore and Toshiba doesn't offer it for Win8.
Webcam driver is part of the Win8 system.
>... it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.
Toshiba cannot offer support for all notebook models, especially models offered long time ago.
I have the same model and use it with Win7 32bit. It is fully supported and works perfectly.
I really don't understand why do you use Win8 on this old piece of hardware.

My advice for you is to use Win7 on it.

My laptop is a year and a bit old. its a Satellite a350. about 5 months ago my sister played music at a very large volume and this resulted as a crackling and popping sound coming from the speakers all the time except when on mute. i kind of fixed it by just turning the microphone on mute all the time. this isn't a solution so id like to know how to properly fix this

but now i am experiencing a different problem. whenever sound is played it is always at a higher pitch. a woman's voice will sound like a chipmunks and a mans voice like a woman's. also every sound effect will echo. including the voices. I have Realtek HD Audio Manager and when i press, test sound in the Realtek program the sound doesn't echo and is at normal pitch. but when i test with "sound" from the control panel it echos and is high pitched. any answers would be helpful

Since today im experiencing problems with my power supply.

What happens:

When I connect my AC adapter to charge my battery the battery sign will go on for 2 secs and then turn off again. Windows also does not Recognise the battery charging.

At this moment I' m unable to give any more details because the battery has gone flat.

If I take out the battery and try on AC only the notebook does not switch on. So the battery has to be inserted in order to boot. so the power will go to the battery first and then to the system which is quite strange.

The battery itself shows no signs of damage / leaks.

Voltage output on DC: 19.55VDC @ 6.32A
AC/DC adaptor: According to the specs and my readings, not faulty.

Model: Satellite A350-12z

Answer:Power issue on Satellite A350-12Z

Do you use original Toshiba battery and AC/DC adapter or some 3rd party parts?

It is strange why notebook doesn?t start without battery. Usually you can always start a notebook with AC/DC adapter only, battery is not necessary.

So either it?s something wrong with AC/DC adapter or mainboard itself? At the moment I believe it?s mainboard malfunction.

I just bought my Toshiba Satellite A350-12D laptop two weeks ago, and am generally pleased with it, however I cannot get it to read data-DVD's properly.

When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.
When I try to copy the data on the DVD to my laptop, it takes forever (I've tried once for 45 minutes and then gave up) and after a while it starts claiming it can't read most of the files on the DVD.
It's not the data on the disks that's causing problems, cause when I transfer those from my desktop to my laptop on a USB stick instead of a DVD, the files are copied immediately without a problem.

At first I figured it might be due to the DVD disks themselves (I use TDK DVD+ROM), or maybe Vista was the culprit, but I've tried the exact same disks on my friend's Medion laptop that's also running Vista and she's having no issues whatsoever.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or better yet, what could solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Issues with CD/DVD drive on Satellite A350-12D

> When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.

Hmm? I think this could be a problem of non-fully compatible DVDs.
My notebook?s drive couldn?t read or write some DVDs from different manufacturers.
I tested many disks and now I?m using TDK DVD-R.

But it?s always different?. Possibly your drive would not support this disk properly but another disk would be supported better?

I think you should test it simply?. There are many different disk manufacturers? so don?t give up buddy?

I have the same problem... I've tried everything. I have reinstalled Windows 7 on my A350-10b, and what is strange, some of the FN-keys like Sound On/Off or Brightness controll works fine, but only until I install VAP. Then Fn doesn't work :/

Answer:FN key of Satellite A350-10b doesn't work

You need the Flash Card support Utility for Win 7!
Choose the one released for L500!

Firstly install VAP then the Flash Card support Utility. Both tools should be compatible with Win 7!
Reboot the unit and then test it again.

Hello members,

I have a Satellite A350-20q that runs a Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit OS. The problem is with the touch pad which stops working when the laptop is connected to the
AC power and while this is happening, I can feel the static on the buttons near the touch pad which are metallic.

The touchpad works fine when running on Battery and this is causing a lot of problem as I move around quite a bit and cannot take my mouse everywhere.

I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

Please Help !!
I have installed all the drivers and have the latest Synaptic driver installed on the system as of now.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite A350-20q - Touchpad not working

> I had called up Toshiba support but all the said was to replace the charger which did not make any sense to me but I did try it out and it still does not help much.

I think this make sense since the touchpad did not work ONLY when the AC adaptor was connected.
I found this thread:
It?s about the similar issue and AC adaptor replacement helped!

> The touch pad works fine when the Vista is installed and is not updated but after the system is totally updated it starts to cause problems and I cannot even determine which update is causing the problem as there are numerous windows vista updates that are installed.

How should a windows update make the touchpad buttons statically? This makes no sense for me? so either it?s software or hardware issue?

If it?s software (OS update) issue then the AC adaptor should not has any affect on touchpad buttons? but if it?s a hardware issue then the OS updates should not affect the touchpad functionality as well?

I think it?s a strange issue and you should get in contact with an local ASP (service partner) in your country in order to check the touchpad.

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem and hope that anyone can help me.

After two years I had to re-install my satellite laptop with windows vista. Now is the problem that the productkey isn't readable anymore. So I used a little program(productkey86.exe) to get it out of the registry. So far so good. So I installed vista with that productkey but now my computer tells me that I have to activate. When I try to activate microsoft says: the product can't be activated..

Does anybody know what i have to do?

Hope to hear soon of you..

Answer:Re: Satellite A350 - Can't activate Vista

The problem is that the key on bottom side is an OEM license key and doesn?t work with normal Vista installation disks. So that?s the problem why you can?t activate your Vista installation.

You wrote that you have a Vista installation disk. Why you don?t use the key that belongs to this disk? This would work ;)

Answer:Need WXP drivers for Satellite A350-216 (PSAL6E)

New notebook models are delivered without driver CDs or installations CD/DVDs. Recovery image designed for each notebook model is saved on HDD and if you want to have it as installations DVD you must create it alone using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator".

Your notebook is designed for Vista and it is also supported for new Win7 but not for old WXP so you will not be able to find all WXP drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba support and download page.

I bought my new A350 laptop 3-4 weeks ago and i'm loving the SOUND QUALITY!!

Anyway, I want to disable the mouse pad but I can't. I have the user guid on my laptop, which says, Touch Pad :Pressing FN + F9 enables or disables the touch pad function. Sadly it does not! when I do press it nothing happens, I do not see a change in the Touch Pad icon, which apparently, if done right should have a big red X or something like that, but again it does not happen.

I've also looked the mouse properties of my mouse, and when I select the Advanced tab, then Advance feature settings...., under Touch Pad settings, there is no option to disable it which is higly strange. There is another settings button for that which I can press, but there is no option to disable it.

What should I do to disbale the touch pad, because at the time of writing this, hitting FN + F9 does not work?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Cannot disable Touchpad

What OS do you have and are you running the factory settings or have you installed your own Windows?

I think you should try to reinstall the touchpad driver and the Value Added Package. The Toshiba VAP controls the special function like the FN or illumination keys. You can find all on the Toshiba website: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

So remove the touchpad driver and VAP, restart the notebook and install the newest versions.

I have a problem with my Satellite A350

I bought this laptop from a trusted auction, not on the net, with the password attached unfortunately this password don?t work, but the auction house clams it does,
What is happening is when I turn it on the first screen you see wants a password, I put in the so called password that was given to me but it wont work. When I try to get into the BIOS setup it still wants the password before I can continue.

This computer is using Vista and I cant even put the Vista disk back in because the DVD drive wont work because the op system has not booted
I hope some one knows how to by pass the password or can help me. I have tried removing the internal battery but no go, my email is [email protected] if you want me to explain things better

Thanks to every one

Answer:Satellite A350 - How can I remove the password?

Hi Col!

These are not so good news?

I?m not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP: => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider

Had anyone experienced that kind of issue? The notebook is new (bought it today). The "dirt" covers about 5 pixels (it's not regular) and looks like a grey shadow. Unfortunately it's placed in a very nasty spot getting all of my attention :/.

I'm positive those are not dead/stuck pixels because I can see it even when the notebook is turned off. To be 100% sure I've made a photo of the "anomaly" and when I zoom in I can see that pixels are working correctly but there is a grey "smudge" above them. I would upload the pictures but I've left my cable somewhere elese .

Can anyone tell me if it will be covered by the warranty or would I run into problems if I ask for a notebook/LCD panel replacement?

Thanks in advance for any replys!

Hey, I have a HUGE list of problems (some that can't be fixed) on my laptop that's 5 months old but let's start with the most urgent problem.

The battery isn't charging all the time. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, it's quite random... Sometimes it even says it's charging but it isn't. It just stays at 30% for example.

I have windows 7 and newest bios. Tried rebooting, placing battery after boot with cable and no battery etc. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Tried reinstalling drivers. Nothing.

Answer:Battery isn't charging on my Satellite A350-220

Too many issues, GET RID OF THIS LAPTOP NOW.
Don't waste your time trying to fix it. Send it back to Toshiba and have them replace it.
This is not acceptable from a brand name like Toshiba point of view.

I have a Satellite A350-20s.
It is described in its documentation as having the option to add a second internal 2"5 hdd, and a indeed there is a place reserved for it..

The problem is that when I remove the cover to insert the hdd there is no connector.

So, how to do it ?

Answer:Adding a second internal HDD on a Satellite A350-20s

Some of the Satellite A350 units and other notebook models could be upgraded with a second HDD. But this means that NOT all notebooks provide such upgrade possibility?
There are different A350 with different hardware specifications?
All notebooks support the same bottom cover but not all motherboard supports an second HDD controller and the connectors?.

Your A350 cannot be upgraded with a second HDD due to different motherboard and missing HDD controller.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite A350 - Can I upgrade the CPU to 2.4 or 2.6Ghz

> 1. Is it possible to do?
Nothing is impossible but the question is if it?s advisable?. In my opinion it?s not advisable. First of all the CPU upgrade will cancel your warranty. Secondly nobody would be able to say if the notebook would run stable after such upgrade and if the BIOS would support if correctly. There is a high risk of overheating because the stringer CPU creates more heat dissipation which would lead to a higher temperature?
Last but not least you will not notice a big performance boost.

>2. Is it worth doing?
In my opinion it?s not worth. Check the point 1.

> 3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
I?ve got a Satellite notebook equipped with CORE2 DUO T8100 (2.1GHZ) CPU and I?ve got the same Intel Centrino sticker.
The Centrino sticker means that the CPU supports this technology but it does not mean that this is Centrino CPU.

Hello guys,

so.. I started using Bluetooth a while ago, using the Internet via cable.. Today I wanted to use my WLan again, but it didn't worked (worked good before).
So I tried to activate it via FN+F8, but all I can see is activating Bluetooth, so the one for WLan disappeared?
The WiFi LED is only flashing when Bluetooth is on. I'd rather disable Bluetooth than not being able to use WLan.

I believe it's a similar problem as
but I really didn't want to install a wrong driver or anything.

I'm using a Vista 32-bit and my PC-Tool said I'm using these Networks currently (I just copy and pasted since I honestly have no idea, hahaha).
Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Version=6.208.729.2008 MAC-Adresse=00:23:5A:05:61:05
Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN Version= MAC-Adresse=00:21:5D:62:D8:1C

I'd so happy if anyone could help me fix the problem anytime soon, since I really need the Wireless capability soon. Thank you :)

Answer:Satellite A350 can't use WLan anymore

do you have try this from MASTERG?s post?

The FN + F8 would not work if there is a WLan driver problem.
So would recommend doing this:

First of all remove AC adaptor and battery.
Press Power button 30 sec long
Then connect both parts again.
Now power up the unit and press F2 to access the BIOS
Set BIOS to default pressing F9 and save changes pressing F10
Access the BIOS boot up the Windows OS
Now download the compatible WLan driver (I guess its Intel WiFi 5100AGN)

After installation of Wlan driver, install the Value Added Package and Flash Card Support Utility.
Reboot the notebook and try to enable Wlan again."

Camera is not listed in Device Manager just an Unknown Device.

Any ideas?

It is not easy to say what is wrong there.

Other way, try to reinstall webcam software. You can download it on Toshiba support page.

Recently i purchased a Toshiba A350 disc. I've format both the discs and went with a clean sweap install of windows vista. Now, a few months later i want to use the Toshiba Recovery Discs i made on the first startup, to recover my Toshiba laptop and set it back to the default installation.

With the tool to create Toshiba Recovery Discs, i had to make 2 recovery discs. The first DVD contains the Windows installation, and the 2nd DVD contains SWM files.

I started the recovery by putting recovery disc 1 in my DVD player and boot it up. After boot it installed Windows Vista, and it never asked for DVD2. After the installation, I have a clean Windows Vista, but no Toshiba pre installed drivers, software etc.

How can I recover my laptop to the default settings, the way i bought it?

thnx for ur awnser,

sincerely, Frank

Answer:Satellite A350-12D - How to recover from recovery DVD?

Usually the Toshiba Recovery disk should contain the image.
The image is the package which contains the Vista, Toshiba drivers/tools and the additional software.

The Toshiba Recovery disk Creator can create the Recovery disk using the image on the notebook and therefore it?s not understandable for me and I cannot believe why you get only clean Vista without the Toshiba drivers and tools and 3rd party software.

You did everything right. In order to recover the notebook, you have to boot from Recovery disk and have to follow the instruction on the screen.

That?s all?.

PS: I the drivers and tools are really missing then you could download it from here: -> Support & Download -> Download Drivers

Looks like a display hardware problem?
I don?t know exactly how much a screen costs but for all hardware problems you should contact the authorized service provider in your country.
The guys can tell you how much a fix would costs and if it?s worth to replace the display.

Hello ,

My laptop runs very OK and stable IF i dont play a 3D game. When i start to play a 3D game it just heats until it hurts my hand and than crashes.
I was thinking maybe there was a BIOS update to use the fan faster but i already have the latest BIOS installed. So is there any program or advice you can suggest me ?
I already tried the program called speed fan. Not sure it worked though.

Answer:Satellite A350-22Z heats too much and crashes

First of all check if the cooling modules are not clogged by dust and debris.
The clogged fans could not rotate fast enough and this leads to higher temperature.

Furthermore I recommend setting the ?Cooling Method? to ?maximum CPU performance? as mentioned here:

Are you using Toshiba display driver?
The Toshiba graphic card driver supports an overheating protection of graphic chip and clock down the GPU if the temperature is too high

I have a Satellite A350 and the USB ports recognise the mouse but no other input. It doesn't recognise a USB stick, or Logitech microphone or my Flip video.

Does anyone know what's going on? Thank you!

Answer:Re: USB is not working properly on Satellite A350

Usb controller drivers are responsible for such functions. These drivers are part of chipset drivers. Try to reinstall/update chipset utility:

I?d like change my OS from Windows Vista to Windows XP but I don?t find drivers for windows XP to my notebook Satellite A350-13A

can anybody help me?

Answer:Satellite A350-13A - Where to find XP drivers

The XP drivers are not available for Satellite A350 PSAL6E series.
If you want to install Win XP on this notebook then you would need to collect the drivers at your own hand.
Many notebooks models use the same devices and in most cases the drivers are compatible with different notebook series.

I recommend testing some Win XP drivers which were released for other notebook models like Satellite A300 and similar?

Can some guide me in degardin Satellite A 350 from Vista to XP?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

And what do you want to know?

If you want to install Windows XP on the notebook you must only boot from the installation disk and follow the screen instructions ? That?s all!

But don?t forget to install the SATA drivers. Otherwise I think your HDD will not be recognized.
And before you install XP you should burn the Toshiba recovery disk if you didn?t this already. So you can restore the factory settings every time that you want.

I have Satellite A350-13A. I installed Windows 7 from 2 weeks.

The function keys isn't working although I installed the Toshiba value added package which is responsible for activating function keys.

What the solution for this problem?

Answer:Satellite A350-13a - function keys isn't working

>The function keys isn't working although i installed the toshiba value added package which is responsible for activating function keys

Beside the VAP (value added package) you have to install the Flash Card support Utility!
Flash Card support Utility controls the FN buttons and not the VAP! But VAP is needed too!

So, fortunatelly i installled Common Module on my windows XP. And that creates another question - what's the name of the software, which operate my special keys on Satellite A 350 (I mean these for music and turning on/off lights on keyboard).

Somebody knows? Thanks for quick help :)

Answer:Satellite A350 - Which software do I need for special keys on XP?

For the special buttons you need the following Toshiba tools:
TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility
TOSHIBA Utilities

Furthermore I would also recommend installing TOSHIBA Power Saver. It?s really nice tool to save energy and optimize the battery time. Furthermore you can create different power profiles.

I recently broke my screen in a temper tantrum and sent it in to Toshiba repair.
They replaced my screen. That was about a month ago.

I installed windows 7 3-4 days ago and it worked fine.
I opened my laptop one night to discover a blank white screen.
After turning it off and on, taking the battery out and in, the white screen still remained, then it randomly appeared with system restore options

I restored the system and applied a microsoft hotfix to counteract the supposed windows 7 error. it did not work.
The white screen appears when i put the laptop to sleep (shut the laptop) or shut it down.

The screen appeared again yesterday and i left it overnight hoping it would change.
My sister pulled out and put back in the battery and a screen appeared asking how you would like to start windows.
I started windows then reinstalled Windows Vista using a mirosoft setup disc.

After installing AVG antivirus it told me to restart.
I restarted the laptop and instead of the toshiba logo appearing the white screen of death appeared.
It stayed for 10-20 seconds then my laptop started.

I looked at this article ( and it suggested the screen may have problems. Should i send it back in to Toshiba?
Can someone supply further diagnosis?

My specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7450
4.00GB RAM
32 bit OS

So basically i have a random white screen when i restart, turn ... Read more

Answer:Satellite A350 - White Screen Of Death

For me it looks like hardware problem.
It?s difficult to say if it?s graphic card issue or display problem.
But if the display has been replaced one month ago, then I would recommend contacting the guys again. I mean the part might be faulty again and from my knowledge the replaced parts are covered by warranty for short time? so maybe the warranty would cover this once again if the screen would be faulty?

I have an A350 Satellite laptop and wanted to know which driver i need to install for Face Recognition becuase my manual does not have anything about this of this nature.

Answer:Satellite A350 - What driver do I need to use Face Recognition

What A350-xxx notebook is it?

You don?t need any special drivers in order to use the Face Recognition.
The Toshiba Face Recognition software is available on the Toshiba European driver page and it?s designed for Vista OS.

This tool must be installed on your notebook if you want to use it.

Here in this thread you can find all details regarding the Face Recognition and how to use it.

Check it!

I seriously hope that anyone can help me...
Whenever I press the "FN" key on my satellite A350 Notebook (Windows Vista Home, SP2) there is a bluescreen error :-( I mean, it's nice to have some kind of button for bluescreen, anyway I would need the button to work properly again to be able to use some settings like display brightness or external display...
I already explored Toshiba site for new hotkey or keyboard driver but there is none :-(

Also the Microsoft Homepage didn't help (maybe I just couldn't make it to cross the jungle)
What can I do? Does anyone have a clue?
(btw, this is the error report:
BCCode: a
BCP1: 00000016
BCP2: 0000001B
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 824664BB
OS Version: 6_0_6001
Service Pack: 2_0

Thx in advance!

Answer:Satellite A350 running Vista - FN Key causes bluescreen

Is your notebook delivered with preinstalled Vista SP2 or you have installed SP2 additionally?
What you can try is to remove VAP (Value Added Package) and after notebook restart install latest version you can download from Toshiba support and download page under

Please post the result.

I have an issue regarding using my Touch Pad of Toshiba Satellite A350/07F - HNX laptop.

It so happens that after sometime the scrolling stops automatically and then I have to restart my laptop for it to start again. It also stops to scroll down if i keep my laptop locked for an hour or so. Any idea how to change the settigs so that this does not happen.

Thanks guys.

Answer:Satellite A350/07F - Issue with Scrolling docs

As far as I know for scrolling on touch pad it will be activated virtual bar on the right side of the touchpad.
Try to check all this in mouse advanced settings where you can define all this. Disable this option and try to enable it again.

On my Satellite A300 it works properly.

My touchapad worked fine on both system 's and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I coudln't turn it on. I used system driver then. So I installed Synaptics but it said there's no conpatible device to work with. I tried Alps - no result too. So I checked bios - Pionting Dev. is on. I did changed this option two times thinking it may help - no. Today it's about half a year since I'm forced to use usb mouse.

Yesterday I restored the system - I had whole, independent image. It was created when touchpad still worked. After restore touchpad does not work. So I decided to install fresh system - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today I noticed that when I disconnect USB mouse, then betwen this action and system's sound (informing about this action) touchapad works - during about 0,5 s. It moves! But I didn't managed to turn it on.

I can't understand what's the point. I read few post on other forums. It seems that some other people have same problem. They have different notebooks but still from Toshiba. I think we need professional help. Can we get it?

Sorry for my english.
Best regards,

Answer:Satellite A350 - Touchpad stopped working

To be honest I haven?t found other similar threads so it doesn?t seem to be a common issue. Also the touchpad on my both Toshiba notebooks works perfect and never had a problem. Furthermore here it?s only an user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help you must get in contact with an authorized service provider.

Anyway, one point is not clear for me: You wrote about several system restores, images, etc. but what images you have used exactly?

In your case I would recommend a recovery installation from Toshiba recovery disk. The disk can restore the original factory settings (out of box) with all necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.
If not it?s a hardware malfunction?

Hi ,

I've bought a Toshiba Satellite A350-12D, and I think it is a fantastic Laptop!

2 days ago, after about 3 months of use, he was starting to get slow, so a friend of me start 'Cleaning' my laptop. ( Run some anti-spyware progs, CCcleaner , defrag , .. ) and he also unchecked some start op programs in the MSCONFIG.

After this cleaning we installed AION, and it runs great, computer is fast again, everything alright. Till Yesterday evening, when i was willing to put the Media-buttons and the little light bar above the touchpad, and the Toshiba brand out, so my battery would last longer, it stopped working.

Every time i press the Light-off icon, only that icon goes out, and then start lightning up again. This seems like a stupid problem, but it drasticly decrease your battery-life. Now , I checked everything back on in the MSCONFIG , and already ran a system-repair , but nothing seems to help ..

Can someone help me with this dumb problem please :)

Grtz , Niels

-Sorry for my bad english, i'm from belgium -

Answer:Satellite A350-12D - Cannot disable the Mediabuttons light

Hallo Niels

Open please ?Toshiba Assist? > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware settings.
If I am remembering well there must be tab about illumination and option Enable/Disable.
Check please if this will works.

What you can also try is to remove preinstalled Value Added Package and after notebook restart install latest version you can find on Toshiba support page.
I am pretty sure you will be able to control illumination option again.

when I bought my Satellite A350 I noticed that it was partitioned into 2 drives, 1 C: drive called Vista which had 149GB and the other E: drive called Data which has 147GB with 141GB free space which contains a folder called HDDRecovery giving a total of about 300GB.

What i would like to do which I don't know if it is possible unless I send it away is this: unpartition the 2 drives so it is 1 drive, then partition it again into 2 drives but this time have the C: Vista drive to have 250GB while the other E: Data drive with the recovery to have 50GB. I do have the recovery disks as well. Do you know if it is possible to do what I want without having to sending it to the manufacture? And if so how?

I also run a Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.

Answer:Satellite A350 - Can I change the partition sizes?

Hmmm?. You could try to shrink the second partition in the ?disk management?.

You can find it in control panel. There you will find the System Maintenance link, and there click on Administrative Tools to open the Administrative tools folder. Click Computer Management to open the Computer Management window. There you can find the Disk Management.

As I said above you could try to shrink firstly the second partition and then could try to add the free space to the first partition. But to be honest I doubt that this would be possible because the free space would be located behind the second partition and you could not add it to first partition C.

Anyway, check it and play a little bit around? maybe it will be possible?
But note; you should have the recovery disk created because there is always a tiny risk that you would muddle up the HDD.

On the slim remote (that actually fits into the PCMCIA side slot) that came with my Satellite A 350 I cannot understand what the button labelled "*{color:#ff0000}i{color}*" is used for.

I have read the accompanying pdf manual and it said something about acting as a secondary mouse button but pressing the button under various scenarios produced nothing.

Can someone please tell me what that key on the remote is intended for and provide me with an example of its use?

As far as I know the ?i? button means Information (more).
Possibly you can get more info about the (media) file while using the windows media center.

my Satellite A350-13D (bought july '09) makes a strange rattling noise out of the speakers.
It's intermittant and sounds like static interference or when the HDD is reading or writing. Anyone a clue before I'll bring it back to the shop for repair (maye a new driver/bios?)

Answer:Satellite A350-13D PSAL6E; sound rattles

Hmm?. did you mean the HDD makes the high pitches sound?
That?s wired because this would mean that something would be wring with the HDD? and this would mean that you should backup your data if you have some important files on the HDD?. In worst case your HDD could die and you would lose all the data in the HDD?

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to know if anyone knows how I can upload movies from my Sony DCR-TRV19E that has USB and DV iLink slots into my Toshiba Satellite A350/07C?

My understanding is that Sony does not support USB drivers for Windows Vista and 7 (and why not!?) which leaves me the Firewire which in this case is the iLink (DV) slot on the camcorder. Where do I stick this in the Toshiba? Does my Toshiba have a different look Firewire? I know that in my Device Manager I have something that is called ieee 1394 OHCI Complient. But where excatly is it on my model? Is it the little slot on the left that looks like the DV of my camcorder (it has a lable on the top that says EX on it)?

Or is it through the PCI card slot that is on the left side (that also says on it EX)?
Please help me?

Answer:Satellite A350-07C - How to transfer movies from camcorder?

Are you sure that there is no USB driver for this camcorder? Maybe you should ask the manufacture if there is such driver.

According the user manual of Satellite A350 it?s equipped with IEEE 1394 port. You can find this port on the left side.

I bought my Satelite A350-20Q 2 1/2 yeras ago, and when I turned on my laptop the screen was dim, the power supply was already plugged in but it did not make any change. How can order a replacement?

Answer:How To Order New AC Power Supply for Satellite A350-20Q?

Hi, a dim screen can be caused by a number of components so someone needs to do some diagnostics to determine which part needs replacing. The safest thing to do is send the notebook to a Toshiba Repair Center and ask for a quote for the repair.

There is a list of ASP's on the Toshiba website.
