Preferred Solution: Satellite A300-211 - Can't start recovery disk creator

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Satellite A300-211 - Can't start recovery disk creator

Hi mate,

Can you please tell us what happens if you uninstall ultraiso program? To be honest ths program isn?t known to me, I never heard about this.
Then try it again please.

In worst case you have to start the HDD recovery option to reinstall Windows. Then you should be able to create the recovery media. For HDD recovery procedure I have founded this:

Hi everybody!

Need some help with my Satellite A300. I lost the optical recovery disc I burned when the laptop was new. Now when I'm trying to burn a new recovery disc I can't find the Recovery Disc Creator - not on the desktop or in the Start meny. I still have the folder with all the recovery files left - a folder named HDDRecovery with size 4.5 GB. The problem is to find out how to burn the disc.

Can anyone help?

Answer:Satellite A300 - I can't find the recovery disk creator

Hi!

Have you reinstalled the notebook with your own Windows version?

The problem is that the recovery disk creator can?t be downloaded. So I think you must use the HDD recovery function to restore the factory settings. After this it?s maybe possible to burn the recovery disk again.

Bye

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 (PSAGCE) and I created the recovery disc using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" but I did this a few mounths ago, but now the disc is scratched, and when I am formating my computer it give me an error when loading the files. So I decide to create another disc, by using the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" but it also give me an error with one of the files when creating the disc. What should i do now?

I have a friend that has a Satellite A200, can I use his disc? I made a printscrean showing the error. Sorry the bad english, I am portuguese...

Answer:Satellite A300 - Recovery disk creator shows error

Hi

It?s good that you posted a screenshot of the error but maybe you can translate it into English, this would be more helpful.

Anyway, what disks you are using for creating recovery disk? I?m using DVD-R mediums from Verbatim. This worked perfectly for me and I can recommend this way.

Furthermore you can check the Toshiba page for a firmware update of your CD/DVD drive.

Last but not least I doubt that recovery disk for Satellite A200 will work for you too. The models are different?

I have created my recovery disk after buying new Toshiba A300-1G5 model laptop. That recovery disk is damaged now.
I have tried to make 2nd set of recovery disk, but the application is not working.

error message comming "---- orisetenv/setenv.ini file missing.

Please anybody help how to resume the application's (Recovery Disk Creator) functionality?

Another question--- does not Toshiba have a online help facility apart from this forum? Forum is from user, can't we (Toshiba Users) get online help from Toshiba technical team directly?
If yes please send me the route to reach.

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: Recovery Disk Creator doesn’t work anymore

If ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" doesn?t work anymore then you have big problem.
Fact is that this tool cannot be downloaded and reinstalled.

What to do now?
I see two options there:
# you will order recovery installation disc from Toshiba - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
# you must install OS again using HDD recovery option if available. With clean preinstalled operating system (factory settings) you will be able to use ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? again and create recovery discs again.

It is not known to me you can contact Toshiba people directly except to call Toshiba?s hotline.
As far as I know it is for free.

Answer:Cannot start Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator on my Satellite A300-15K

Hi

Did you change anything on your notebook?
I mean if your HDD recovery partition has been changed or the data o thin partition has been deleted?

To be honest for me it looks like the OS issue. I think it?s not a single tool issue but I think the operating system has been muddled up?

Maybe you should try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery option and after the new OS installation on the notebook you could try to create the recovery disk again.

In order to start the recovery you have to press the F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up. Then you should choose the first option called ?Repair My Computer?.
This would lead to a new window and there you could choose ?Toshiba HDD recovery?.

But note; this recovery would format the whole HDD? so maybe you should backup some data before you would start this procedure.

Hi, Hope someone can help.

Laptop stopped working - keeps trying to fix problem via windows on start-up but this just hangs for hours so I ordered a recovery disc to start a fresh as I believe the original problems were caused by a virus. I have no important data to keep so am OK with clearing everything and restarting. Today. I have just received my Product Recovery disc that I ordered from Toshiba. I follow the instructions; load disc, power on holding C. Then it just continues as if the Recovery CD wasnt in the drive. The CD drive doesnt spin. Its as if the laptop doesnt recognize the disc.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - Recovery disk fails at start

Hello

Well, either i?s something wrong with recovery disk itself or the drive doesn?t detect the disk properly?

What happens if you access the BIOS boot menu (F12 key) and select CD/DVD drive as boot device?
If it doesn?t work try another bootable disk to make sure the drive is working properly.

You have to test different DVD from different manufacturers.
Not all DVD from different manufacturers are compatible. There are big differences between the brands? So check and try other DVD

My laptop is Satellite A300-211

My question is can I use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator program to burn CDs and DVDs beside the image of Windows?

Answer:Satellite A300-211 - Can I use recovery disc creator to create other discs?

Hi mate,

The Toshiba recovery disk creator can only create the Toshiba recovery disk and that?s all!

If you want to burn other CDs or DVDs you have to use another program like Nero or CD Burner XP. The last one is freeware and really nice. It has a lot of functions and is very small. Check this!!

On the program Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator was created and that incomprehensible?

Does Tempro work in Win7?

Many thanks.
With kind regards.

Answer:Satellite A300: Does TRDC Reminder & Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator work after Win 7 upgrade?

Hello Igor

In my opinion you should create recovery disc before you upgrade it to Win7. I have done the same.
Later if something goes wrong you can use your discs and install Vista again using created recovery discs.

I don't understand why you want to wait and create these discs after upgrade. This recovery disc creator doesn?t create recovery image of current state but always the same recovery image you got with your notebook.

Tempro should work in Win7 too.

And so, suffered suffered and because of that that did not know that in BIOS the tag is established that it was impossible to touch SATA. All has spoilt.
Also has removed even the protected area on a disk for system restoration :(

Help please, I wish to return all as was. It is for this purpose necessary Recovery Disk for Toshiba Satellite A300-15E

Well buddy?. You mad a big mistake? you should have created the Recovery disk firstly before you have changed or deleted something from the disk.

I don?t know if you will be able to use the recovery HDD option but try to press the F8 buttons immediately after you have powered up the notebook.
Usually the menu should appear and there you should choose the first option called ?Repair my Computer? and then Toshiba recovery.

Hi

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A300 with Windows Vista pre-instaled but I didn't received any CD or DVD with Vista. I just have a sticker with CD key on the back of the laptop.

I installed Windows XP from personal reason and now I want to install again Windows Vista using the folder HDD Recovery.
Can I install or I should have made a DVD with Vista ?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite A300 - Need recovery disk

Sorry but now you are not able to install Vista with the HDD Recovery. The HDD Recovery can only be used on an installed Windows Vista system because XP doesn?t support this function.

Your mistake was that you didn?t burn the recovery disk with the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator in Vista and now you are not able to burn it.

The only way to get Vista back is the recovery disk and now you must order it on the Toshiba website or from an authorized service provider.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - Can I get a new recovery disk?

Hi

If you have still installed the Vista version that was delivered with the notebook you can create a new recovery disk again.
Just start the Toshiba recovery disk creator and create a new one ? That?s all!

Furthermore you can reinstall Vista if you use the HDD recovery option. Therefore you have to go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?repair my computer?. Some files will be loaded and then you can choose the Toshiba recovery option.
But this is only possible on preinstalled Vista version.

In worst case you have to order a new recovery disk from Toshiba directly:

First of all, sorry for my very bad english.

I bought a portable PC 9 months ago, Toshiba Satellite A300. I have had problems with a virus and the result is that despite of the actions of clean and disinfection, the computer remains infected and I have denied the access to the hard disks and regedit.

I have thought to recover the operating system preinstaled of factory (I hope it is the solution and not the formatting) and Barrie told me to check http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

I did it but the PC says that it's imposible because there's no files. I didn't make a rescue CD (so newbee).

What can I do?

Answer:Satellite A300 - How recover the OS without having Recovery disk?

Hi

Did you already install another OS?

Normally the HDD recovery as Barrie suggested always works if the preinstalled Windows from Toshiba is installed but sometimes due viruses it could not work. I mean if you don?t have success with this you will need a Toshiba recovery disk to get back factory settings.

A new recovery disk you can order here:

Through the recovery disk do I already have all the necessary drivers for my computer?
Do I have to download them online one by one?

Thank you for your help

Ciao

Answer:Satellite A300 - Does the recovery disk contain all drivers?

Hi

Yes, the Toshiba recovery disk contains all drivers and tools for your notebook. After you have used the Toshiba recovery disk you have the same settings as you have started the notebook the first (out of the box). So that means the disk contains an image of ?factory settings?.

The disk is very easy to use: You have only to boot from it and follow the screen instructions. Windows and all drivers will be reinstalled in few minutes.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-1MO - Can I use any Toshiba recovery disk?

No, you cannot use any Recovery disk? you have to use the recovery disk designed for this notebook model.
The point is that recovery disk contains a image. Image is a package which contains OS and Toshiba drivers?
If you would use another recovery disk then the image would be installed with not compatible drivers and this could lead to further problems?

Every new Toshiba notebook provides a Toshiba Recovery Disk creator tool. This tool can create a recovery disk?

The recovery disk creator can?t be reinstalled because it?s only preinstalled on your notebook. I think in this case your only chance is starting the HDD recovery option and reset Windows to factory settings. With out of box settings you can use the recovery disk creator.

> He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.

This was a big mistake buddy?
The recovery disk was not shipped with the notebook because there was an preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery disk creator which allows you to create an own recovery disk.
But this is not possible since the HDD has been formatted and all files have been deleted.

Now you would not be able to recover the unit even using the HDD recovery since the files are not available on HDD.

You need a recovery disk and you can order it from here:

Hello there!

Excuse me for my English. :-)

At first I must say that your English is very good and understandable. ;)

Back to recovery question. I agree with you. With old Norton ghost recovery image it was possible to install OS on one partition only. Unfortunately with recovery media that you can create with your Satellite A300 something like this is not possible.

I am not really providing any solution, but faced similar problem with my Satellite A300-1EI laptop, purchased in Dubai, UAE. I tried to make recovery discs through Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. However, everytime, I got an error message. I tried with Verbatim, Philips DVD-R and lost several DVDs. Meanwhile on some net surfing, I found out that Toshiba DVD writer is a bit sensitive and try using Verbatim brand DVD-R. I tried with Verbatim 2 days ago and at the last moment when I was about to dance with joy that first DVD is created, received an erro message as below

*"The following issue occured while recording data to the disc.*
*The current process will be stopped.*

*A power calibration area error occurred.*
*Please check if the dics is scratched or dirty.*
*If so, please try again with a new disc.*

It seems to be a compatibility issue.

I had such issue in the past but I could solve it using another DVD from another manufacturer.
I made a good experience with TDK DVD-R.
Using the ?R disk I was able to burn the disk but using the +R I received an error.

Unfortunately I think it?s not possible to use the recovery disk with external CD/DVD drive. So you have to place the internal one to use the recovery disk.
You can get a new drive from an authorized service provider.

But if the original Toshiba OS is installed, you can use the HDD recovery feature to reinstall Windows as well. Go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select ?Repair my computer? :)

Thanks

Answer:Satellite L450D-12x: Recovery Disk Creator software missing

Hi

Don?t know why the Toshiba Recovery Disk creator is not available on your HDD but in such case, you will NOT be able to create a Recover disk.

In such case you have to order the disk here:

Can anyone help! My laptop works fine, but I wanted to create a boot disk incase of problems.

But Toshiba Assist>Protect & Fix> doesnt give me an option to create a boot disk.
Is this expected with this model?

I do have the Toshiba Recovery Disk that came with the computer, but have been warned NOT to test it, otherwise it may actually cause me problems!
Any ideas?

This option is not offered on this notebook model. Because of that Toshiba gives DVD recovery that can be used for operating system installation.

Such info can come just from people who don?t know what they are talking about. Please ask this person what he means exactly and I will offer you the right explanation about recovery procedure if you want.

I have bought Toshiba A305-6829 laptop *without a recovery disk* in US. Because of decrease in speed of laptop i want to reinstall Vista and factory setttings. But i realized that that its impossibe unless i have a Recovery Disk' right?

Then i also realized that in my laptop *recovery software is not installed*. I searched it on internet. But i found nothing.
+*What should i do?*+ Is there any alternative recovrery disk creator for Vista and also suitable for my situation?

I also want to ask there is 20 gb missing in my harddisk ( it hve to be 320 gb but seem as an 300 gb).Is it recovery partition? If it is so ; why cant i saw it on "my computer"?

Answer:Need Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator for Satellite A305-6829

you CAN'T see the hidden partition in my computer. to know it's there you'ld have to go to administrative tools (i'm not sure now) but even then, if it is a recovery partition you better leave it be and don't mess around with it.

Try holding down zero key while your pc is booting. (switch it off, hold down zero key, press power button while still holding down zero key).
it should launch the hdd recovery tool.

It didn't work for me but it might work for you.

Toshiba Satellite L505-10k

Can't make any recovery disc when I open toshiba recovery media creator, it says: an unexpected error occurred. Close the program and then restart it (error code: 0D00F6-49-00000015) and then I click ok and then it comes again and then I click ok and it comes again and I click ok and then the program comes and when I create the disc it comes to the verification, but then it says: Unable to read the following file. E: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf (error code: 02015-20-00000000).

I really do need help, I'm afraid something will happen to my computer, so is there anyone who knows something about this kind of problem?

Thankful for your help.

Answer:Satellite L505-10K - Unexpected error when using recovery disk creator

Hi putte32,

To be honest I never received this error message before but it sounds like that the recovery disk creator doesn?t work properly... You should try a HDD recovery to restore factory settings. Maybe then you are able to create the recovery disk.

Otherwise I would contact an authorized service provider. If you can?t create the recovery disk, the guys should be able to help you to finish this procedure.

I have just brought a Toshiba Satellite A300-1j1 laptop, and at the same time got the upgrade to Vista Ultimate disk at the same time.

Straight out I went to do a soft upgrade to Ultimate, which failed, and the laptop restored to Premuim.

Stupidly I then immediately went for a hard install to Ultimate which 'worked', but obviously the drivers to run the laptop was not installed, so I decided to go back to Factory settings, and try getting Ultimate on again.

However using F8 on boot up is not giving me the option to restore, and I have since learnt that I should have make a set of recovery disks, which I did not do.

The installation data is still on the 'E' drive, so is there anyway I can still use it to make these discs, or what should I do?

Thank you for your help,

Ian

I have a Satellite A300 and have been advised to "recover' my computer.

I haven't made a recovery disk yet and was wondering if the files (ie. music) would be included in the recovery and if they weren't would they be deleted. Also i was wondering about the programs (ie. iTunes), would it be recovered because I am making the recovery disk with it installed.

It is just a problem because I have 250GB of music and I would take a while to move to my portable hard drive and it would really screw up iTunes.

Cheers, Levi

Answer:Re: Satellite A300 - Does the recovery disk include music and programs?

Hi

It?s a good idea that you think about creating a Toshiba recovery disk because you will need if Vista doesn?t start. This could happen?

Anyway, the Toshiba recovery disk you can create with the Toshiba recovery disk creator. What does the program do?
The recovery disk creator burn a bootable disk with an image of the ?factory settings?. That means all files that you have stored on the computer or programs that you installed are not on the recovery disk. The image that I said is stored on the second partition of your notebook in the folder ?HDDrecovery?.

So before you run the recovery disk you should backup all files on a DVD or external HDD. The complete HDD will be formatted with the recovery disk.

By the way, do you know the HDD recovery function? It?s the same as the recovery disk but it formats only the first partition. You can start this Toshiba feature if you go in the advanced boot menu, select ?repair my computer? and then choose the Toshiba recovery option. Then you get the factory settings back.

But the files and programs that you have installed don?t affect this image. So don?t be worry about this and backup your files from time to time.

I hope you can understand it now and if you have more questions, please let us know!

Bye

I have a new Toshiba Satellite A300-1QM Vista and now i want to run Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator
For this i need to deactivate the preinstalled McAfee Internet Security Suite
But how?

On my other computers i run Zonealarm and kaspersky there i have exit in the right mouse click on task bar icon pop up
but i cant find it in the McAfee Internet Security Suite

thanks in advance

Hi

Please check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite loads automatically at the beginning.
You can check this in MSCONFIG.

Start the msconfig and check the ?Startup? tab.
There you could disable this tool and could reboot the notebook in order to check if the McAfee Internet Security Suite would still run in the background?

I have a Toshiba A300 Satellite A300/ M00 and when I first got it, it had Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. But after some time, i started having problems so i decided to reinstall Vista onto my notebook. After going through with the Product Recovery Media, my system then became 64 Bit.

Wasn't my system suppose to have 32 Bit since it originally came with it?
If no, then how can i install 32 Bit once again onto my notebook as 64 Bit is giving me problems with installing some of my programs.

If I do require to purchase a copy of Vista 32 Bit, where would I find the drivers to cater for my system since the Product Recovery Media has all the drivers on it.

Thank you for your time.

Answer:Satellite A300: 64bit Vista after new installation using Recovery disk

Hmm?. Your posting is a little bit confusing.

Why are you suggesting that Toshiba recovery disk contains a 64bit Vista version?
How did you check this?
From my experience the Toshiba recovery disk contains always the preinstalled OS.

Furthermore as far as I know the newer Toshiba notebook are not delivered with Recovery disk but with a HDD recovery option.
This option allows you to reinstall the OS from the second HDD recovery partition.
You can also use the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery disk creator software to create the own Recovery DVD! And this recovery disk will contain the same preinstalled OS!

Error Code:-

My niece asked me to re-install her Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, because the windows installation is rather buggy. She didn't have a recovery disk. Using Toshiba's Recovery Disk Creator I tried creating a recovery disk.

However, the program wouldn't start. Checking the directory of the program, it would seem that the program simply isn't there. Afterwards, I checked the data partition of the laptop.

There was a map with HDD recovery. However when using Windows' advanced boot (F8 before Windows startup) there was no choice of repairing the notebook. They only choices were the standard windows options (Save mode, normal start, etc.).

In short, it seems impossible to re-install the notebook with the current information at hand.
What would be the next course of action? Is it possible to order a recovery CD from Toshiba?

Another niece has the same notebook, would it be possible to use that notebook to create a recovery disk?

I'll appreciate and look forward to your reactions.

Hi guys.

I have a question.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 which came with Windows Vista.
I have the recovery partition normally with the utility normally preinstalled.
After I formatted the system partition, I installed a clean and fresh copy of Windows 7.

My question is as follows.
Since the recovery partition does not get messed with, isn't there a way to install the hdd recovery utility back in Windows recovery options from F8 before boot?

Please don't tell me that I need to have the recovery disk.
I already do, I just want to find a solution because it shouldn't be that hard for someone who accidentaly formatted the system partition and hadn't created the discs, but has the recovery partition. My guess is that there needs to be some modification to the Windows Recovery Enviroment files that is initiated when you use the Repair My Computer option at boot because normally the HDD recovery utility appears as one of its tools-options.

The problem is that I don't where these files are, (maybe C:\boot ?)
Right now I am tryiing to see if an upgrade install of windows 7 on windows vista will keep the options of hdd recovery so maybe I will find what is needed.

Any suggestions are welcome!
Thank you for your time.

Hi

"The following issue occurred while recording data to the disc. The current process will be stopped.

An error occurred in the recording phase. Please check if the disc is scratched or dirty. If so, please try again with a new disc.

I have tried this twice on brand new Verbatim DVD+R discs.

Any suggestions as to what causes this problem?

Hi All.

Satellite Pro L300-152, Vista 32 SP2.

This laptop was given to me to try to repair (another instance of Vista comitting suicide).
Having recovered the system (no re-install was required), I would like to create a recovery disk set for the owner.

However when I try to run the 'Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator' I get an 'Error' window with the following message 'An unexpected error ocurred. Please quit this application and restart it. ( Error Code: 1100C8-48-00000002 ). Naturally restarting the application generates another identical message.
Does anyone know what might be the cause of this error and how I might create a recovery disk set for this laptop.

Take care all.

Mike

Answer:Recovery Disk Creator Error Code: 1100C8-48-00000002. Satellite Pro L300-15

Hi

Usually this error message appears because of not compatible CD or DVD.
I think you should firstly check if there is an ODD firmware update.
On the Toshiba European driver page you could find firmware updates for different CD/DVD drives.

You should check your CD/DVD drive and if an compatible firmware would be available, then you should update this
If there is no firmware update, then you have to try different disks from different manufacturers in order to create a recovery disk,

Hi Folks,

Answer:Satellite L300 - Nothing happens if I start the recovery disk

What is the reason you want to run Recovery in the first place? Was it not booting properly? Was it giving a BSOD?

Can you hear noises from the Hard Disk?

Test the Hard Disk for errors by using DFT.
DFT Download: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT

Download the ISO File and burn it to a CD-R Disc (There is also a Floppy Disk version if that's easier).
If you dont know how to burn an ISO file, read this guide: http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm
Restart your laptop and boot from the DFT Disc.
Choose the "Advanced" Test and let it run (it may take an hour or so).
If you see a red message box, the HDD is faulty.
An error od 0x70 means there are bad sectors and the HDD needs replacing.

Also test the RAM for errors. www.memtest.org

Having just aquired a new PC In decided to clean up the old one as it is not running well and frequently crashes. I started to run the recovery cd-rom (Start pc, hold C etc) and the first screen showed a message about *starting Windows 98*! I quickly aborted the process and there is no change to my PC.
As my old PC (Satellite P10) came with *Windows XP Home* I was surprised by the Windows 98 reference.

Can anyone explain what is happening? I am scared to continue with the restore.

Answer:Satellite P10 - Recovery disk start with Windows 98

Hi weematt_1,

I?m not 100% sure but as far as I know it?s normal that you will see ?starting Windows 98? for a short time because the recovery installation program is DOS/WIN98 based but that doesn?t mean Windows 98 will be installed.

If the recovery disk contains Windows XP it will be installed but the recovery image installer is based on DOS and so Windows 98 will be started.

You should try it! I?m pretty sure because as far as I know the same happened to me on my older Toshiba notebook.

urm this will be a weird one...

I have a new tosh laptop brought for me through the DSA scheme in the UK (i'm currently a student) and well the supplying company have removed the Toshiba install of windows and given me their custom one including setting i do not like - i would like to return this to a blank copy of windows or the tosh copy of windows but i don't have access to either currently it would seem.

I have downloaded a copy from http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/8906-official-windows-7-sp1-disks/ burn it to disk but i get the error "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. if you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now." I have tried using all the drivers the ''support'' company had installed (into a partition/folder and told me about), but none work - have also tried changing the ACHI to IDE mode in the BIOS and that didn't help so changed it back. i have looked in tosh support but the drivers don't appear in the list.

I also have an automated win 7 32bit enterprise install on a USB from the days of working in corporate IT and studying for (70-680) this doesn't give me the error and allows me to install windows. (onto another partition for now). I don't want to use it as i don't own an enterprise licence and do own the OEM license with the laptop so would like to use it.

what do people suggest i do?

Answer:No recovery partition - no disk creator either

>i would like to return this to a blank copy of windows or the tosh copy of windows but i don't have access to either currently it would seem.
I cannot discuss about all details but fact is that you have two options:
-if you want to have ?factory settings? you must order original Toshiba recovery disc on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
-you can install own OS version using legal Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

With original recovery disc you don?t need activation code or licence for activation. It will be activated automatically.
If you make decision to install own version you must activate it using valid licence code. Please note: product key placed at the bottom cannot be used for Windows OS activation.

I am afraid you have misunderstood something.

This tool is created to work with ?factory settings? only and you can use it to create ?Toshiba recovery installations disc? only.

I cand find it maybe i uninstal this utility..:/

Answer:Where can I dowload Toshiba Recovery disk creator?

Hi

Toshiba Recovery disk creator is part of the Toshiba image.
This Recovery Disk creator software creates the Toshiba disk using the Toshiba HDD recovery image files.
If you delete such image files, this tool will not help you even if you would be able to install it again.

By the way: I found such Toshiba Recovery disk creator on Toshiba Australian page for download

I've bought a new Tecra, Because I have Nero for burning disks, I removed Sonic from my system, and after that I recognized that Recovery Disk Creator program is not working !
I reinstall Sonic using Toshiba Application installer, but nothing changed and my recovery disk creator program says |shortcut is broken" !
I searched the forum, but couldn't find any solution
is there anywhere to download recovery disk creator program ?!

Answer:Recovery disk creator program does not work

Hi there,

is the link still present? If yes, right-click on the short-cut and say to which program or program-name is linked. Maybe we can find something out to bring your recovery disk creator back.

You know, it sounds really weird that a program dissappears, still after reinstalling the sonic burn-program. Maybe it?s just an special option or something which needs to be activated.

Answer:Recovery Disk Creator application does not run/work

Hello

Which Satellite do you have exactly?
Is ?HDDRecovery? folder available on second partition?

This tool cannot be downloaded. All you can do now is to install OS again using saved recovery image on the second partition. Hopefully this will work.

When you start your notebook press F8 and choose option ?repair my computer?. Follow the menu on the screen. After clean OS installation you will be able to use it again.

I'm trying to reinstall my windows 8 on my 256GB mSATA. OKR no longer offers recovery disk burn option in OKR 8 that ships with win 8 preinstalled y580 models. Windows offers a recovery media creator that uses a 16 gb usb drive but it won't allow me to recover to the msata. WTH am I supposed to do now? Windows 8 pro upgrade from win 8 oem is 69.99 when everyone else win 7 or below can get it for 39.99 or 14.99, so I'm screwed there. Tried downloading an win 8 iso from microsoft but it won't let me because my win 8 key isn't allowed as its oem. Looking for some help here. Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300- 1EG.

I created 2 recovey disks as required in the "Toshiba Recovey Disk Creator". I created the first one (Disk 1) 2 weeks ago and the second one (Disk 2) today because I didn't have 2 DVDs in hand.

My first question is does it matter if I have left a period of time between the two creations will if affect the recovery if I ever need to use them?

My second question is do both recovery disks just recover the operating system eg: Windows Vista or do they recover everything that was saved on Local Disk C at the time they were created?

My final question is if it happens my operating system dies, do I just power on the laptop and put in recovey disk 1 and then 2, (if that is not how I do it can someone please tell me how to?)

Regards

Answer:Satellite A300-1EG - Why do I need 2 recovery disks?

Hello

When you use ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? you can see there option for using different empty medias. On some notebook the image can be burned on one empty DVD and on some models you need two of them. It depends on recovery image.

For my Satellite A300 I used two DVD-R medias. I have created recovery images for several notebooks and it is not known to me you have interrupt recovery creation and continue it later. When the first media is finished you must put second empty media and burning procedure will continue automatically. As far as I know there is NO option for disc 2 creation only. Please be careful about that.

I recommend you to obtain two empty DVD-R medias and create recovery DVDs at once.

When you use recovery DVD the whole HDD will be deleted, not just partition C. that means all data saved on HDD will be deleted. If your notebook has two HDD the recovery procedure will affect HDD1 only. Be careful about that and before you start recovery procedure back up all your important data.

Final answer to final question ;) ? when you want to install OS again using recovery media do follow:
Power your notebook ON and press F12 to enter boot options
Put recovery media 1 into optical disc drive
In boot options choose CD/DVD drive and press ENTER
Follow the menu on the screen

Of course, start with DVD1 and when asked insert second DVD.

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-15B, purchased almost 2 months age. I have created a recovery DVD using Toshiba Recovery DVD Creator as mentioned in the manual. The question is, I have created this DVD 2 months upon purchasing and I used the notebook for this period. Would my recovery disc be the same as a recovery disc created just after purchasing?

My recovery disc's content does not include any setup that I can see which makes me think that I might have created a wrong one. Can I use this disc for re-installing Vista assuming that I am now using Windows XP?

And how many recovery discs are required for this model of Toshiba? I only have one.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Kind regards..

Answer:Question about recovery DVD for Satellite A300-15B

>Would my recovery disc be the same as a recovery disc created just after purchasing?
The recovery image is always the same. When you use it the notebook will always have the same configuration, the same you got after switching it for the first time.

>My recovery disc's content does not include any setup that I can see which makes me think that I might have created a wrong one. Can I use this disc for re-installing Vista assuming that I am now using Windows XP?
There is no setup.exe because the installation cannot be started under running OS or in some kind of DOS mode. Just put recovery disc into optical disc drive, start your notebook, press F12, choose CD/DVD drive there, press ENTER and follow the menu on the screen. You can use now what you want. after using recovery DVD you will have ?factory settings? again, the same you got after switching it for the first time.

>How many recovery discs are required for this model of Toshiba?
This question is understandable for me. Generally it depends on media you use for creating recovery media. Just follow the instructions in ?Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?. It can be that you need two DVD-R medias.

Do you have more questions?

I have tried using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator numerous times and with many different brands of Discs to create the recovery disc.
However every time just as the laptop is just about to finish burning the disc, there is an error and the operation could not be completed.

I don't believe there is a problem with the drive as I have used it for many other things including watching movies with no problem.
Could Toshiba please mail me a recovery disc instead?
Thanks

Answer:Cannot create a recovery CD for my Satellite A300-1BZ

Mail a recovery disc? Very interesting. To mail 4 GB image is not so easy.

I don't know what are you doing but if you want good tip then use Verbatim or TDK DVD-R empty medias. Use DVD-R only.
I have Satellite A300 too and I created recovery DVDs successfully.
Do you use DVD-R medias too?

Hi

I have an A300-21i and it wont boot. It wont recover using the image as the image seems to be corrupt and it wont re-install with the recovery disks it always hangs at around 52% whilst unpacking the OS from image X.

I have however proved that it is not the machine as I have managed to install Win XP Pro on it and everything is fine. BUT I would like to return it to factory condition as I would like to sell it.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this

Many thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite A300-21I - Recovery hangs at 52%

Hi!

I have never noticed a problem with my Toshiba recovery disks but have you tried to format the HDD before you use the recovery disk? Therefore you can use a Microsoft XP disk to format the whole HDD.
After this boot from Toshiba recovery disk again and follow the screen instructions.
Does it work?

Furthermore it would be interesting to know if it?s possible to install Windows with a Microsoft disk. Can you please check this?
Maybe the Toshiba recovery disk is scratchy or it?s a HDD malfunction and so it always hangs during the installation.

Hi!

I have my Satellite A300 with Windows Vista for a while now, but it started to give me some problems a few days ago.

All of a sudden, windows won't load, it frozed on the windows logo screen. Since i needed to recover the files i installed ubunto from a cd and i was able to get the files out safe. Now, and since i have this partition, everytime i get to the screen where i chose the partition and try to start windows, a black screen shows and nothing happens! So i thought let's format everything but I just can't make it to the recovery screen or terminal. I've tried every key and trick I could find or remember of, but it still goes to the partition screen.

I have lost track of my recovery CD so, is there any way I can format without the recovery CD?

Thank you!

Answer:Satellite A300-1M1 - Format without recovery CD?

Hi

If you want original factory settings back your only chance is Toshiba recovery disk. Generally speaking it?s no problem if you have lost it because you can order it from Toshiba but this service is not for free:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Alternative you can use a normal Microsoft Windows disk. All drivers and tools you can get on official Toshiba website.

Answer:Satellite M300 - How to use recovery disc creator?

Hi

I assume you didn?t read the user manual as yet because it explains pretty well what the recovery disc creator does.

However, this tool creates the Toshiba recovery disc. This disc contains an image of ?factory settings?. That means the preinstalled Windows OS with all drivers and tools from Toshiba. It?s easy to use (just boot from the disk), just follow the screen instructions.

For example if you install another Windows or Windows can?t start anymore you can use this disc to get back a working system.

Hi -

I can't find the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator software on my Satellite U405D.

I'm upgrading to Win 7 and I have been advised to create a recovery CD and reimage my hard drive first but, again, I can't find the recovery program.

Can anyone help me either

A: find it, or
B: use another method to create a recovery disc set?

Is it possible to download the recovery CD creator?
I realize there are a lot of posts on this already, but I can't find anything that specifically addressed my situation.

Thanks

Hi

Your notebook belongs to the Toshiba US series.
I?m not quite sure if the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator software would be preinstalled on the US notebook models.

From my knowledge the Toshiba European notebooks have an preinstalled the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator which allows you to create an recovery disk.

Anyway, you should read your user manual for details? Maybe you will have to use other software or another method?

The computer contains an extremely low-profile and lightweight, high-performance HDD.
The HDD incorporates 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm height magnetic disk and mini-Winchester type magnetic heads. The HDD interface conforms to Serial ATA.
Storage capacities supported for your notebook model are 120, 160, 200, 250, 300, 320, 400,500 GB.

Just be sure you will order SATA HDD.

Answer:Re: Satellite A300 - second hard disk

Hi Lotus

Toshiba has offered Satellite A300 with one or two HDDs with two different mainboards. Plastic cover is the same for both notebook models and that is the reason why there are two HDD covers and two placed for HDD. Notebooks without SATA connectors are not ?ready? for upgrade.

Nobody here in this forum has reported that such upgrade was possible if notebook doesn?t have original SATA connector for second HDD so I think you cannot upgrade your notebook with second HDD.

By the way: it is not easy to find such parts.

Have an Satellite Pro A300-28V laptop with Vista 32 Business. After a recovery from HDD Recovery partition I decided to use the function Complete PC system backup to make an image for future recovery with all my present settings. Too annoying to reset to factory default (Thunderbird 3.0 Mail, Open Office, and some other small applications previously running with no problems for years on another desktop computer).

The system needs 5 to 9 DVD's and it writes the first DVD. Takes roughly 30 minutes. Then, during verification of that disc it hangs. Verification bar stops at about 30% complete.
Anyone with that experience? Does not the Business "Complete PC image" work well on a OEM installation of Vista?
Or is it maybe the DVD driver who needs an update? I do not use a 3rd party burning software.

Answer:Satellite Pro A300-28V - Can't create own recovery disks

Hi

Which program you are using to create your own recovery disks? For example I mean Acronis, Norton Ghost, etc.

In your case I would try it with another burning program like CD Burner XP or Nero.
Furthermore you could try to remove the upper and lower filters in Windows registry, maybe it will work.

Last but not least on the Toshiba website you can check if there is a firmware update for your CD/DVD drive.

Hi all

I?m planning to buy new laptop of model Satellite A300-1GR for my work.
But I found that there's a problem. Many users face when dealing with laptop in general which is the deletion of partition when using Recovery disc at any OS failure & losing there data on other drives.
So what I want is a solution that makes me able to do the follow:

1- Have many Drives C, D , E , etc?
2- The OS is on C drive & my work data on others
3- In case of any problem or failure in the OS I can format just the C: drive & install another OS on it without any removing or modification on the other drives at which my data kept on
4- Ability to install different OS?s like Windows Vista , XP or Linux

Simply i just want my new laptop to be like my Desktop PC ( Full controlled by me )

Answer:Questions about Satellite A300 HDD pratitions & recovery

Hi buddy

Will try to provide a little bit light into this case ;)

The A300 is equipped with the HDD Recovery function. This means that you can recover the notebook without the OS DVD.
The installation will start from the HDD.
Of course there is a possibility to create a Toshiba Recovery DVD using a preinstalled Toshiba Disk Creator.
After the creation of Toshiba Recovery DVD you can format the whole HDD and can delete all partitions (if you want).

So now we come to the point which you have asked;

The whole HDD will be formatted (also the partitions) if you would use the Toshiba Recovery DVD.
Why? I think the Recovery DVD was designed for one purpose; settings the notebook back to the factor settings.
And this is what the Recovery DVD does. It sets everything back to the first state.

So if you want to keep your data on the other partition then you shouldn?t use the Toshiba Recovery DVD but an original Microsoft Windows OS disk.

Furthermore it?s always advisable to backup the data on a external HDD for example.
Then it would be no problem to get back the data on the notebooks HDD.

Answer:Satellite A300 - I lost the recovery partition

Hi!

I think you did understand something wrong.
On the Toshiba notebooks there is no recovery partition, they have a HDDrecovery folder that contains the factory settings.
I recovery partition that you mean is a Window Vista feature, not a Toshiba.
Here is a useful link to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WinRE

The HDD recovery folder is stored on the second partition of the notebook. You can use the HDD recovery function if you go in the advanced boot menu, choose ?Repair my computer? and select the Toshiba HDD recovery function.
But I think this is too late now?

Did you burn the Toshiba recovery disk? Normally you can burn the factory image that is stored in the HDD recovery folder on a DVD by using the Toshiba recovery disk creator. Therefore you get always a remember message or popup that you have to do this.

If you didn?t do this and you want the Toshiba recovery disk you must order a new one. You can do this here: https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I hope I could help you. Do you have more questions?

Hey mate,

Sounds like a faulty or scratched recovery disk maybe?

In my opinion you should try another disk, . e.g. Microsoft Windows disk. If your recovery disk is faulty, the Microsoft disk should work properly. After this you can download and install all drivers and tools from the Toshiba page.

In worst case it?s a hardware malfunction, HDD or something else, but you should test another disk firstly. ;)

Answer:Satellite A300-247 cant find HDD recovery folder

Hi

Seems the HDD recovery does not work.
Possibly something has been changed on the HDD recovery partition or the recovery files has been deleted?

Usually it?s always advisable to create a recovery disk at first. This should be done at the beginning and such recovery disk is always helpful if something would go wrong with HDD recovery or with the HDD?

Now you cannot recover the notebook because you don?t have such disk and the HDD does not work?

What to do???
Well, I think you would need to order new disk.
You can do this here:
