What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Question: What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Hey,

I've done some searching and it seems that both KeNotify.exe (Toshiba/Utilities) and TCrdMain.exe (Toshiba/Flashcards) are responsible for managing the Fn keys.

Could anyone please explain what each does separately, and what functionality will I loose if I remove them from startup?

Thanks a lot!

Preferred Solution: What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: What does the Toshiba Flash Cards / KeNotify Application controls?

Hi

From my knowledge the Flash Cards (visual FN button row at the top of the screen) appears pressing if one of the FN + F1-F9 key combination would be pressed.
If you remove both tools, I assume that this visual menu would not appear anymore and you will lose the FN button functionality.

But you can test this just for testing proposes without deleting both entries.
In search type msconfig. In msconfig choose Startup tab and here uncheck both exe files. Save the changes and reboot the unit.

If you want to get back these processes, access the Startup tab again and enable both processes once again.

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I recently just rebooted my Satellite A200-195.

I found that my flash cards for my ?FN? hotkey function buttons have disappeared and do not pop up on top of the screen anymore.
However I am able to press the other function buttons on the keypad F1 - F8, part from the one that enables the mouse?F9?.

I have already uninstalled and installed the Value Added Package, Flash support utility and even tried to update the Bios but it seems my Bio is already the newest version.
After all this I seem to be able to enable my mouse pad ?F9? but my other function buttons are not working anymore and the flash cards still are not appearing like they use to.
Is there anything I can do to get my flash card to pop up back on screen without having to set my laptop back to factory default?

Answer:Satellite A200-195: TOSHIBA Flash Cards "black and white cards" not working

Have you tried to restart Flash cards?
Start > All programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash cards.

What you can also try is to install ?Flash cards support utility? if you can find it on Toshiba download page.

Hi there.
Like to first off apologise if this is the wrong place to post this topic, but put it down to been new here and the fact that at this point I'm tearing my hair out!!!...
Just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427, which runs Vista Premium, and in the main I'm pretty pleased with it.
No major problems...at least none that don't resolve themselves eventually.
This was however not until I noticed that my Toshiba Flash Card, which host the hot keys and some computer functions and which should drop down only when you point your cursor at the top of the screen, developed a mind all of its own and from time to time decided to make an unsolicited apperance and drop down without been prompted!
As it usually happens when I have just finished clicking on something or touched my mouse, I thought it might have something to do with the external optical mouse I was using so off I went to buy another one but of course the darn thing still does the same thing with the new mouse.
I have found a way to disable the flash cards, but I would rather be able to make use of them rather than turning the fuction off completely because of the annoying 'drop down'.
Someone mentioned to me that it may be a conflict between a program I've installed since getting the computer and the flash card program, but as itunes is the only major add-on I have installed, I wonder!?!...
Could this be another classic case of vista gone bad, or is there something else?

Hi, essejyar, and welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a picture of the *exact* error message, or else write down what it is saying exactly?

As far as multiple user environment, sorry, XP and Vista are both built on the NT kernel (and advances made to said kernel) which means they support multiple users by default. There are a couple of things you can do to make it less intrusive, like automating your login and such, and you can make it easier to use, like disabling UAC, but to protect you from your own self, I'd not recommend these at all.

I am a 20+ year veteran of using computers and I leave UAC on - because then I don't have to run Ad-aware and Spybot and Malwarebytes and Spywareguard and lock down my hosts file and all those other fun things you needed on XP to keep it relatively safe from intrusion and malware....

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?

My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.
Thank you,
Dave.

Sometimes, unexpectedly and probaby due to some mistake on my part, a message appears saying Toshiba flash cards not responding. What is this?

Answer:Toshiba flash cards don't response

I assume you are an owner of the notebook with the Vista OS. The Toshiba Flash card is preinstalled software which controls visually the FN buttons.

The Toshiba flash cards are placed at the upper display edge. Usually they are not visible but if you will move the courser over this display area the Flash Cards should appear.

I don?t know why the message appears saying the Toshiba flash cards do not response.
Maybe a reinstallation could helps.

I'm working on a friend's Toshiba Satelite L775-S7307. I've reformatted it, put on a shiny new copy of Windows 7 64bit, and installed many of the drivers required to run the hardware.

Now out of the blue, immediately when I turn on the computer, a window titled "TOSHIBA Flash Cards" pops up saying "Win8-TestVersion". You can then click OK or Cancel, both which do nothing more than close the window.

I did a search for the Flash Cards program on the computer but couldn't find anything and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I've attached a picture of the screen immediately after being booted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Origin of Toshiba Flash Cards?

Might be the card reader driver for the laptop. Chances are, Windows Update automatically installed what it thought was the right driver and ended up trying the Windows 8 one instead.

Hi, everyone,

there may be a thread about this, but i could not find it.

I have the following problem: after the lat uptade from Microsoft (I believe the Fall Uptade...) everytime I try to shut the laptop down or restart it, I get the notification on the screen that Toshiba Flash Cards is preventing the computer from shutting down. I get two options - to cancel shutdown or force it. I tried turning the FN keys off from star up settings. However it did not help.

Has anybody ever had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I don't want to loose the FN keys, but i don't want to force a shutdown everytime either.

So any ideas?

Toshiba Flash Cards crashes on Vista when windows is set to use the "windows standard" colour scheme under appearance settings, (for your information, I prefer to use this mode as vista runs quicker, uses less battery power and less system ram in this mode).

However it does not crash immediately, instead it seems to crash whenever I rotate the screen (which happens quite often as I?m using a tablet pc) with the previous version of the software it crashed on boot however that seems to have been rectified with this version although not completely, however when it crashes it will not fully close even if i force task manager to end the process (rather than just the task).

Hello,

My toshiba is Satellite U300 model no. PSU30C-TP908C with windows vista installed

I am getting into a big trouble for some reason, all the keys from "F1~F12" are malfunctioned. When i press them, they do not work as what its suppose to do, instead they all became the functions that you would have when you press them while holding the "Fn" key. So, now if i press F1, I actually get a compter locked instead of casting the help window. Pressing "U,I,O,J,K,L,M" would print out numbers, but if you turn "ON" the numberpad by pressing "F11"(note that i could do it without holding Fn), these keys will return to normal. Space bar does not work no matter what you do. The numbers "1,2" above "Q,W" does not work either.

Another thing i found out is that when i try to open the accessibility tools in the toshiba utility. It says "This system does not support this program".

I have tried to find updates to these utilities, but i could not find the ones suitable for my toshiba. I went to the toshiba support page, click on download and it prompts me to select my toshiba laptop and model number. However, from the list of toshiba satellite U300, there is only 3 models and none of them is PSU30C-TP908C. I did not know which one is compatible with my model, so i gave up finding the updates.

Hi

Normally you can find all drivers on the Toshiba Canada page for your notebook:
http://www.toshiba.ca => Support => Mobile Computing

For the FN keys on Windows you need the Value Added Package. You can find it on the Toshiba website. Remove the old version and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and then install the version.

But be honest if you can?t go in the BIOS because with F2 I think it?s a keyboard malfunction and this has nothing to do with the Toshiba tools.
In your case I would test an external keyboard? So you can determine if it?s an internal keyboard problem or not.

Good luck!

Hi all.

Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working

I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.

Could somebody help?

Answer:Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

Hi

It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software ?Microsoft Money?.

Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240437]

I would recommend doing this:

1. Disable the Flash cards
2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 sccbase.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

For the pharmacy I have made an application to support a drug preparation. This application is used in public pharmacies as well as in hospitals and industry.
This is a web-based application. So the installation has been done on the server with a configuration within IIS.
The clients start the application in InternetExplorer.
Why InternetExplorer? Because the client's preparation protocols, raw materials need to be weighed and labels must be printed. Hereby I use self-programmed ActiveX controls. And other browsers do not support ActiveX controls.
The web-based application is generally found to be good.
As Edge is increasingly "pushing", InternetExplorer seems to be the cornerstone, as well as the application described above.
My questions are now:
- How long are web-based applications still supported?
- Will Edge support ActiveX controls in the future?
- Is there an alternative?
I would appreciate if there were sound answers to the above questions.
Sincerely,
Wim

You can easily change the button that opens the media but i found no way to change the media controls ("Play", "Pause","Stop", "Next track" etc.) since when I try to change the program that uses them only windows media player shows up.
Has anybody any clue of how to solve this small problem?

Answer:Satellite M40: Using Toshiba controls with other programs

Hi

Sorry, it???s not possible to set this button function to other applications. This Toshiba controls works only with WMP (audio) and WinDVD (video).

Hi!

I have a Satellite A100 with Windows XP.
The internet and CD/DVD buttons worked perfectly until a few days ago, now nothing happens when I use them. I check their configuration, and it's ok.
Can anybody help me, please?
Thanks!

Download and install the CCleaner tool. This tool repairs the windows registry. It?s for free. Repair you OS.
Then download the right ?common modules? for you notebook series from the Toshiba page and install it again.

After new reboot check if the Toshiba control buttons functions!

Question: KeNotify?

I just had a problem with my laptop (toshiba). Every time I pressed a key it opened a dialog box with the text "your system is low on memory"

But its not...

Not from what I can see. Plenty of RAM. Plenty of Hard Drive space... CPU is running at 20% or something low (i'm multitasking on the net and word processing).

I googled it, from what I could find, its a legit program installed by toshiba... Anyone have any experience with it? What is it, exactly? What causes it to do the above?

Cheers,

Tenk.

Hi all,

I hope I can get some help from all the genius here. My model is Satellite A100 and it comes with the media button beside the keyboard (i.e.Open Internet Browser, Open WMP 10, Play/Pause, Stop, etc). However I facing with the problem that all this buttons do not work until I need to open the program- TfncKy.exe in the C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Controls. It is so inconvenient for me to open this program every time after I shut down my computer.(It works fine when I hibernate the laptop). So guys, I really hope can seek some valuable advice from you. I just bought this laptop one month ago. I look forward with the solution here. Thanks. =)

Answer:Satellite A100- Toshiba Controls Program -TFncKy.exe

Hello,

Did it initially work or has it always been this way? If it worked initially, try downloading a BIOS update, and then download the Toshiba controls program as well and reinstall it. If these do not work, go to start-->Control Panel-->Administrator Tools-->Services. From there make sure that the program is activated automatically when the computer is turned on. Hope this helps you.

Answer:Satellite A300-1G3 - Toshiba Controls buttons don't work

Hi

This is a user to user forum and I doubt you will receive an something official from Toshiba. Everything what you can get are some suggestions from a notebook user like me and you.
A300-1G3 belongs to the PSAG0E series (I hope so).

Check the Toshiba European driver page. Choose this notebook model and reinstall the Common Module

Furthermore install the Toshiba *Controls* which you could find in *PSAG8E* series!!!

You'll have noticed the nice T icon in your address bar for this forum.

To use this distinctive icon for any shortcut to a Toshiba application or your user guide just follow these steps:

1/ Create a directory somewhere to store the icon you are about to extract.

2/ Access this forum in your browser.

3/ Go to your +Temporary Internet Files+ location (different between XP & Vista)

4/ Look for the icon with name {color:#0000ff}favicon.ico{color} alongside the name [http://forums.computers.toshiba-euorpe]

5/ Copy this file into your icons location created at step #1 and rename the file (e.g. {color:#0000ff}Toshiba-T.ico{color})

6/ On any shortcut to which you want this icon applied, simply right click on +properties+, click +change icon+ and point to your newly saved {color:#0000ff}Toshiba-T.ico{color}.

That's all.

Answer:How to use the Toshiba T icon as a shortcut to a Toshiba application

LOL :D

Very nice idea ;)

I see the T icon in my IE browser address bar but to be honest I prefer the standards icons belonging to each application... it?s just my personal feeling...

I have had to re-install XP. This caused the loss of the drivers and quite probably other stuff I don't know about.

One of the items missing seems to be the software or driver? for the battery. The battery no longer charges up to full power. The software that set in the system tray used to indicate the power status and whether it was ac or dc connected.

Any suggestions what I need and where I can get it from to fix this problem, please?

Answer:Equium A60-191: What application controls battery status in system tray?

Hi

In my knowledge you don?t need any drivers or software to charge the battery to full power. Only what you need is the Toshiba Power saver utility.
This utility is very useful because you can configure the different power modes for a different notebook usage. For example if you have disconnect the AC adaptor from the notebook the Power saver will automatically switch to the power mode which was configured for the battery usage.
Such modes help to take care of battery and increases the battery life time and it shows a battery status in the task bar
But it has nothing to do witch the battery charging.

In my user manual I have found many info about the battery and how to handle the battery usage. I think the same information you will find in your user manual. Check it.

The last possibility could be a battery malfunction.
But in such case only a battery replacement will solve your issue.

If you want you can try to check if the same happens with the new battery.

Hey guys, my Toshiba Controls (Mute, play, stop, next and forward) buttons literally freeze Windows Explorer. I am not 100% sure if there is a driver that comes pre-installed, but if there is then could somebody point me in the right direction on how to fix this problem?

Also, if this helps I do have my "TOSAPINS" folder containing all the programs that came pre-installed with my laptop.

Thanks for your support.

Answer:Toshiba Controls freeze Windows Explorer on Satellite L350D

Hi

Do you mean that your internet explorer freezes while pressing on of the Toshiba control buttons?
That?s strange?.

Never heard about such issue but as you know nothing is impossible using the Windows OS ;)

However, I recommend updating the OS and cleaning the OS using the CCLeaner (free software).
Furthermore you could reinstall the Value Added Package because this package contains the applications which control the Toshiba buttons.

I just got the yoga 900.  When I stream videos using flash player the controls at the bottom (volume, play/pause, ect.) are extremely small.  Is there a way to correct this other than zooming in on the entire page?

Answer:Yoga 900 Flash Player Controls are tiny

I noticed the exact same problem when I received my Yoga 900.  On certain apps the controls are super tiny.  This is because of the high resolution of the Yoga 900 screen.  Some applications do not have the proper scaling for resolutions this high. What worked for me was to right click on the desktop and select "display settings"  Click "advanced display settings" and you'll see "resolution" which is probably set to the default of 3200x1800.  I changed it to 1600x900.  Immediately all those problem applications look fine again. To my way of thinking the screen is so small that it doesn't require the 3200x1800 resolution, especially if it causes problems with different applications.  See what you think.

Hello,

Following a viral infection + repair my Toshiba A500 (W 7) I lost KeNotify.exe.

This executable is part of the Toshiba utilities that manage specific functions activated by pressing the FN.
I reinstalled all modules assigns a link with "Flash Cards", "Value Added Package", etc ...
But I can not find KeNotify.exe.

Originally it was installed under C: \ Program Files (x86) \ TOSHIBA \ Utilities \ KeNotify.exe
So it was a 32bit executable ...!? I'm in Seven 64bit Premium and all utilities are reloaded from the library W7-64 Support from Toshiba.

I tried without success in other modules 32 or 64 bits if this executable was there.
Do you know where to find KeNotify.exe?

Thanks in adavnce for the help.

I own a A500 which worked perfectly so far. Today I experienced a problem I also found on few postings on the internet : A KeNotify box pops up saying that memory is running low. When I check the task manager I see that there is a lot of physical as well as virtual memory available. The pop-up cannot be dismissed unless I close KeNotify from the task manager. Unfortunately, I can't, for now, say under which circumstances this pop-up does appear but my bet is that a recent update (Windows update ?

Automatic Chrome update ?) is causing this problem. For the record, I have 8Gb of RAM installed and the OS is W7 64 bits.
I hope someone can help investigating this further or give a solution. I want to keep Kenotify installed (Toshiba Flashcards/FN keys).

Thanks in adavnce for the help.

Answer:Re: KeNotify generates low memory pop-up on Satellite A500

If you reboot the notebook, does it make any difference?

If not, try updating the Toshiba Value Added Package from the Toshiba website.

Doing a System Restore may also help.

Do flash cards and flash drives use the same technology? If so, would a utility designed for flash cards work on flash drives and vice-versa?

Answer:Flash Cards and Flash Drives

Yes, they use the same flash chips for storage. As for the utility.. It depends on what you want to do.

On application level a drive is a drive is a drive and there is no difference between working with a hard drive, a flash drive, a memory card, a zip drive, whatever.

Hi everyone,

Well, that subject pretty much says it all. I'm doing a cleanup - on my Satellite A200-27Z - and I my Windows Vista keeps blocking KeNotify.exe on startup.

Answers on Google etc. are contradictory - "it's safe!" - "no, don't touch it!" - So, what is the answer with this one? Keep blocking it? I think so; as it as reads keystrokes; which seems a bit unfair as it never told me it was doing it (

What do you all think?

Thanks,

B

Answer:Satellite A200-27Z - How to unblock KeNotify on Windows Vista?

Hi

The KeNotify shouldn?t be blocked because it belongs to Toshiba Flash Cards that you need for FN keys so please unblock this application.

If the Windows firewall is blocking, you can unblock it in settings:
Control panel > Windows Firewall > Change settings >

I hope I could help you a little bit.

Hi, I have a question about my laptop/sd cards...

I'm a photographer and I need my SD cards to be read by my laptop. Now, recently I had hard drive troubles on my Toshiba laptop, so I had my neighbor/tech-guy look at it and "fix" it. However, when I got it back (a few months ago) the SD card reader wouldn't read any cards anymore. I have no idea why.

So, I started looking for online support. I found that if you go to Run... and type in devmgmt.msc you see a list of drivers and what not on your list there. I found out that mine does not have a Storage/Controllers option, which is supposedly where the SD card reader is supposed to be. So, I went to something else and clicked on a box that said "Don't hide empty folders," like another website told me to do, and I did, and nothing changed.

I also went and uninstalled a couple of different things I thought might have something to do with SD cards and them being read. I restarted the laptop, nothing. I did some updates, nothing. Currently, I am at a loss of what to do.

Anyone here think they can help me out? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I need my photos, and I won't always have flimsy connection cables to help me out. Gracias!

I own a Portege A100 and have Windows 2000 installed. I used the Toshiba drivers CD to install all my necessary drivers. All seem to work except my LAN & WAN drivers. They install fine with no errors, however my LAN/WAN device comes up as unknown in Device Manager. I tried the "Reinstall Driver" menu option but that didn't find any drivers from the CD.

Answer:HELP: pls make Win2k drivers for my Toshiba LAN/WAN cards

Hello

Problem is that your unit is not supported for W2000 and you will not find it on Toshiba download page. The only solution is to check hardware producer download page and check if you can find it there.

You can also try to find out if some other Portege model has the same hardware. It can happen that some other model is supported for W2000 users.

Good luck!

After installing 4 GB of ram the SLI performance mode no longer works. I tried to bring it back to a Toshiba dealer but they told me that I voided the warranty o my computer by installing 4 GB of ram. Hello everyone

I wonder if its possible to use FN keys without toshiba flash cards on the top of the screen and so without installing the value added package?

some FN keys like brightness, mute, display switching and sleep are working without VAP
but I also have WiFi on/off, touchpad on/off, energy mode switching, zooming buttons, which are not working

again I dont want to have this flash cards utility always running and consuming ram

Answer:Using FN keys without flash cards

As far as I know something like this is not possible and if you want to have FN functionality ?flash cards? utility must run in the background.
This with RAM consuming is funny for me because if you disable it you will not see any difference in computer performance.

Maybe you should disable some other useless background processes that you don?t need.
If you have new notebook model with Win7 they have enough RAM for all operations and running flash cards will not have much influence on computer performance.

This is probably a better place to ask then then in Disk Storage Systems.

Is it possible to get back the autoplay where you select what you want so to do in xp when you put in a flash carded into a card reader. I am guessing when it is put in to many times it starts opening up the same way every time.

All I could find on google was how to disable it.

Answer:Autoplay and flash cards.

I would say put the card back into the reader so you get a drive icon and drive letter, then right click on it and choose Properties, then it should have an AutoPlay tab listed so you can configure it however you like.

Hope this helps...

The FN key flashcards (that drop down from the top of screen) worked nicely for the first week of using this new notebook, they seemed to disappear by themselves (windows updates are the devil, so I point the finger at that) and I've spent an inordinate amount of time resolving this issue.

I have downloaded the latest TVAP and flashcard utility from Toshiba support. installed tvap and then rebooted and then ran the flash card utility installer which uninstalled the utility and then rebooted and then reran the utility installer, rebooted and still no joy.

my FN keys are still working, but without the flash card I cant see where im scrolling through wifi/bluetooth on/off.

What else can be done once tvap and flash card utility have been installed?

Answer:Re: Satellite A500 - Flash Cards don't appear

Hey,

I had a similar problem that Flash Cards didn?t appear anymore... As far as I know it was related to an additional software that I installed? If I remember rightly, it was VMware?

So if you install this program remove it. Furthermore make sure that Flash Cards Support Utility and Value Added Package will be started properly.

Before you install newest versions, remove the old one firstly and start CCleaner to clean up the registry.

I hope it helps!

I bought a Lexar Platinum II 8gb 200x compact flash card to use as a boot drive { my machine has jumper for cf to be c:\ } and at first it did not show as c: drive at all . I used Lexar usb tool to flip the removable media bit and it then showed as c: drive but could not read or write and said incorrect drive perimeters error . I changed the jumper back and now as a slave I could fdisk and format so I made 4 partitions and formated them no problem . After I tried c drive , same problem as before , but works perfect as  the slave { installed win98se , runs perfect } . When I checked the bios as c: drive it said 12000 {approx.}cylinders  20 heads and 63 sectors but as slave it reports 16000 {approx }cylinders 16 heads and 63 sectors . I tried inputing the drive perimeters but no go . I've never seen a drive report 20 heads before so I assume that explains the error incorrect drive perimeters thing and I assume my CF card was never meant to act as a boot drive . My C: drive is a 64mb dom , hence the interest in a bigger C: drive . I wanted to run dos and win3.11 but quite the squeeze for a full install . So my questions are , do you have to get a purpose built CF card to be a boot drive ? What specs should I look for ?

Answer:Questions about compact flash cards

A simple answer would be NO. No, you do not need a spacial flash drive.. You are using Windows 98 SE. Right? It was not meant to boot from a flash drive. Windows 98 installs on the first hard drive it finds.  But there is a way to make it use a flash drive. But why do you need to boot from a flash drive?Have you read the tutorials? There are several out there. You can Google:Boot Windows 98 from a flash driveAnd find hundreds, even thousands of people who did it.Here is just one of so many:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qd7cDbtwj4QuoteIn this installation, C:\ drive is your flash disDoes that help any?

My Notebook is a Satellite PSB3E 200. If I click on Flash cards in the Start menu the cards are activated and they have been seen by putting the FN button. However starting my pc once again the flash cards are no more activated.
In order to solute this problem I downloaded and installed the flash cards utility from the Toshiba site.

However running the driver I receive the notification the serial number is invalid. Who can help me?

Answer:Question about Flash Cards activation

I really don't know which notebook model do you have but what you can do is to remove Value added package from the system and install latest version offered on Toshiba download page.

After doing this everything should work well.
Please let me know if this works for you.

Hi all nice to be here.

I have a three compact flash cards 2*256MB and 1*512. All three are not working correctly.
The 512mb card i can read on the PC and see the pictures that i have taken,,,,but, some of the pictures are like double exposure types of picture ie: one picture on top of another.

The two 256mb cards i cannot read at all in the camera or the PC.

Is therer a way of low level formatting them through the PC without using Active Sync. I have a multi card reader in my PC and want to know if there are any utilities that can do this.

I have tried formatting in the camera but it just locks the camera up. On a card that is working there is no problem at all.

Cheers

HiI am thinking of building a cheap PC for internet use only with one hard drive loaded with Windows 98SE. For security purposes I also want two removable devices, one for original files and the other for backup. I am thinking of using 1 GB flash cards. Has anyone any experience of their long term stability and operating life.I would need to save all originals of OE messages and IE files to a flash card. I believe it is relatively easy to change the destination folder for OE but not certain how to do it for IE?Any advice appreciated.

Answer:Long term use of flash cards

Providing you use memory cards with reasonable care they should last a very long time.I suggested to my best mate that he did basic backups to a Compact Memory Card several years ago, in between full backups, and he has been doing this for at least three years with the same 128MB card.

i put this up in another thread about my graphics card not peroformign at full power but noone is replying so ill post it here as it sort of a different topic. i have seen this metniond so many tiems about flashing the mobo. What is this? What does it do? how do you do it? i have built many computers and never remembered anything about this (unless i done it without knoing what it actually was) . And can you flash a graphics card? i have seen this mentioned before an i remember the card i have (thats not working, go here to see details http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic20020.html ) has 3 pins on it and a jumper. As i thought this gflashing might fix the card problem but i guess its an idea to know what it is and how to do it first lol

Answer:what is/ How to flash mobo and grafix cards

Flashing refers to updating the BIOS or firmware.
If you can actually find a newer BIOS for your card then it might fix something but you might as well end up with an unusable vid card.

My 2 year old loves this app and is learning loads. I have Windows 7 on a touchscreen laptop when it would work a lot better. I looked at the files and they seem to be javascript and XML mainly. Has anyone tried exporting a metro app out of windows 8 to 7? Possibly recompiling to an executable with visual studio?

I want to avoid installing windows 8 but would love to use the app...

Answer:Windows 8 Metro App: Flash Cards

I installed it, typed in some really long winded cards for my granddaughter to use to study. Switched over to her user id, and the program was not there. Installed it for her id. The cards were gone. So I typed them in for her. Everything looked good. Logged her out, went to dinner, came back, logged her in, started the Metro flash cards app...cards were gone. Logged in as me, and the cards were gone on my version of the app too. Back to the drawing board.

Answer:Satellite L30-10X - Flash Cards Lost

Hi!

In your case I would reinstall the Value Added Package. This contains the flash cards what you mean, so have a look on the Toshiba website:

I have a Toshiba Satellite L655-S5062 and it has a built in web cam. It also has Toshiba Web Camera Application. The program works and by default is set to save pics in my pictures folder and videos in my videos folder. When I take a pic or vid and it is saved, my pictures and my videos folder icons go to generic folder icons and I have to do a system restore to get them back. I changed the destination folder to a different one, but am afraid to use it. I have searched Toshiba's forum and can't find anything relevant. I want to know if anybody else with a Toshiba laptop has had this problem. I am running Win7 64-bit.

I recently tried changing my default audio back to my installed soundcard, I have used this soundcard on many occasions without any problems, when reconnecting my webcam it made itself the default device. After disabling the audio on the webcam, and disabling the audio on the internal Realtek soundcard and enabling my soundblaster soundcard, I saved changed and restarted my computer. When I went to the sounds and audio devices in control panel, it shows "no audio device" under volume, and under audio its showing "no playback devices" and "no redording devices" "no midi playback devices" and the dropdown arrow is greyed out so I can't set up my default device. I went to hardware, and it shows both the internal and external soundcards there and that they are both working properly. The media control devices were showing a yellow exclamation mark beside them before, but after uninstalling and reinstalling everything in the sounds aand audio devices hardware tab it was corrected. I have tried going to Device manager, and uninstalling the system speakers and then clicking on "check for hardware changes" and having them be reinstalled, but it has not corrected the issue. I have no installation disc to reinstall windows xp in repair mode..... Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem? Also my sound recorder is also missing. I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002.
